- 0:01Reporting live from my bedroom. I've had the time of my life.
- 0:07Featuring the vocal stylings of I.
- 0:09Never felt this way before. The one and only Jerry Acuna.
- 0:14And I swear this is true and I owe it all to the daily BJ.
- 0:23Welcome back guys. Welcome back, Happy Thursday I.
- 0:25Didn't think I was going to get beautifully serenaded.
- 0:28I've just, you know what? I've been in the in the singing
- 0:30mood. It was a good day today.
- 0:32Damn, I'm blushing and. It's only Thursday.
- 0:35We are one day away, depending on what time you listen, two
- 0:40days away from the weekend. What's the weekend?
- 0:43Cause the weekend party, like the weekend, you got me thinking
- 0:47we could be a thing. Yeah, I know.
- 0:49You know I got bumping. Big Time Rush, yeah.
- 0:53Wow, how did you know? It just came to me, damn it.
- 0:56Just that's actually pretty crazy today.
- 0:59Two different people, two different times, one in the
- 1:01morning, 1:00 in the afternoon. I sent a text to them and they
- 1:04were like, they sent a text literally like milliseconds
- 1:07right after it and they're like, wow, I was about to text you.
- 1:10Wow, you're on people's minds. I'm on people's minds and also
- 1:13I'm reading the future. Why?
- 1:15What did? What did you do?
- 1:17I'm a spiritual medium. OK, Teresa Caputo.
- 1:23A TikTok, I think I've showed you, there's this dude who goes
- 1:27up to random people, introduces himself, gets their name and
- 1:30he's like, I sent an evil spirits attached to you or, or
- 1:33whatever area they're at. And then he just continues to
- 1:36scream into the void and on his own time in the dark, calling
- 1:39the spirits. Hours after meeting this.
- 1:42Is hours after and he name drops a person saying leave, leave
- 1:46them alone they're just trying to live their life.
- 1:49And then he switches the POV to look in front of him and then he
- 1:54blows out a freaking smoke cloud, starts choking and like
- 1:59having a crazy cough attack 'cause he just took a fat ass
- 2:02RIP. And then he's like, there it is.
- 2:04He's like mid Cobb and he starts fighting it and he's like leave
- 2:07this person alone motherfucker. And that it's the funniest thing
- 2:11ever. If you need it, hit me up.
- 2:13I will send it to you. This guy makes my day every time
- 2:16he posts. I had to drop that.
- 2:18It's been a while since you sent me one.
- 2:20You showed me one in person the other day though.
- 2:22I've like that. Healed me.
- 2:23I've liked like three of them since Oh my God, I will send
- 2:26them to you every time. It's bad on me for not following
- 2:29this creative genius. What he's doing.
- 2:32Four people fighting those demons, No one else is doing it
- 2:35like it. No, no, people might look at it
- 2:38and be like haha that's so funny, it's a joke, but I think
- 2:40there's some truth to it. Speaking of fighting your
- 2:44demons, do you want to hear a funny story that happened to me
- 2:47today? No.
- 2:49Oh, just kidding. I thought that's what you're
- 2:51here for. We're here to gap and update
- 2:53each other. That's why we don't tell each
- 2:54other stories anymore. Well, I didn't say no the the
- 2:57listener said no. Oh, I thought you were going to
- 2:59say it was the spirit. We were about to fight him.
- 3:01We have to take a hit. Wait, let's take a hit.
- 3:04Sorry, Continue. Go ahead.
- 3:06This morning I I'm a granted I was a little later to work than
- 3:10normal. I did leave maybe 10 minutes
- 3:14past what I usually do life. So I'm rushing.
- 3:17OK, I get to work pretty early. I'm always at work early.
- 3:20I love to be early. Hate being late.
- 3:22You will never catch me being late to work unless it's out of
- 3:24my control. OK, yes.
- 3:26So I'm pressing the elevator button like get me up there, get
- 3:31in because it opens almost immediately.
- 3:34It's stops at every parking lot floor.
- 3:37And I'm like way up there. I'm like almost in the double
- 3:41digits of floors. OK.
- 3:43It fills up with people, slowly starts dwindling.
- 3:47Some people get off on the lobby, some people get off on
- 3:49like floors one and two. But for the longest time there
- 3:52was three of us, me and two girls.
- 3:54The door closes on like the third floor girl in the front
- 3:58farts where you could tell it was not expected.
- 4:02She did not do it on purpose, and the tension just was as
- 4:06palpable as the fart that I just heard.
- 4:08Of course, the girl in front of me who was not the not the
- 4:11farter. OK sidesteps.
- 4:13I'm already like way in the back.
- 4:15There's nowhere. You can't go anywhere.
- 4:16But not for four floors until the doors open.
- 4:19Oh. Man.
- 4:20We walk out on the same floor. Four floors of fart.
- 4:25Silence of like, oh. And then just hold breath.
- 4:29Yeah, I mean, I didn't smell anything, but to be that person,
- 4:34like, that's so embarrassing. I'm so sorry.
- 4:36It was better that we didn't say anything.
- 4:38Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:38Of course, nothing you can say is going to help the situation.
- 4:41Nope. Unless you just went up to it.
- 4:42But the person? Didn't.
- 4:43Yeah. Excuse me.
- 4:44Yeah. That's the most you could have
- 4:46said is just excuse me. I'm so sorry.
- 4:47Yeah. Because we were in a confined
- 4:49environment. You were fighting the inner
- 4:51demons of your bowels, of course, and you lost.
- 4:53You lost that battle, but I hope they didn't lose the war.
- 4:57I hope not. I didn't run into them again
- 4:58later today or later that day. Man, well, I mean in terms of
- 5:04like top three places, you don't want to just fart in public.
- 5:07An elevator with other people I think is up there.
- 5:10Yep, I was telling Alexa when she was leaving I was like,
- 5:14don't fart in the elevator. I told everyone the story of.
- 5:18Course you have to. It was hilarious.
- 5:20When does that happen? Once in a blue moon, I guess.
- 5:24At least it wasn't me. At least it wasn't you after
- 5:28having dairy. Absolutely.
- 5:30Oh my God no. We would have died there.
- 5:32Would find our corpses on on the floor.
- 5:35Yeah, for sure, for sure. Wow, that's crazy.
- 5:37I haven't heard a story like that in a long time or
- 5:39experienced that, like, in a long time like.
- 5:42Yeah. It's it's an adventure having a
- 5:44building with elevators. I've also developed a new pet
- 5:47peeve of people not waiting for you to leave the elevator before
- 5:51they try to get on. Oh OK, They just try to come in.
- 5:54You're like, I'm going out dude. Like fucking chill.
- 5:56If we are literally in the bottom floor basement and it
- 5:59opens up and you see someone connect the dots, I am exiting
- 6:03the elevator. I'm not just in there for fun.
- 6:05Yeah, and there's. Oh my God, sorry.
- 6:07It's it's been boiling. I'm sure there's like the people
- 6:11that are like, oh, like they're surprised that you're trying to
- 6:13come out like before they go in and they feel kind of offended
- 6:17or they look kind of offended. It's like no get like.
- 6:20Or they don't even move out of the way, they still go in while
- 6:22I'm like trying to get out. Yeah, you just got to shove them
- 6:24at that point. I don't condone violence, but
- 6:27you just got to let them know like that's.
- 6:28I'm a big boy. I'm gonna just keep on going.
- 6:30And if I brush your shoulder, I brush your shoulder.
- 6:32Why are you standing in front of the elevator as soon as it
- 6:34opens? I was going to say the same
- 6:35thing. I'm a big boy.
- 6:36Me making shoulder contact this is I can't help it.
- 6:39I'm a big dude like. It happens sometimes.
- 6:41It happens. Sorry, that was my tangent.
- 6:43Wow, that was the demons that I had experienced.
- 6:45They weren't mine, they were someone.
- 6:46Else they were they were floating for the.
- 6:48First time in a long time they weren't mine.
- 6:52That's crazy. That's good.
- 6:53Good story. Can I tell you a funny story?
- 6:55Yes. Over this, over this this past
- 6:59couple days I've been, you know, it's been resonating with me
- 7:03that I am a hard 28. Over the weekend I, for the
- 7:09third time in like the past two months, locked ourselves out of
- 7:14the house 'cause I'd left the keys inside the first one.
- 7:19Luckily I had a a very gracious friend who was willing to come
- 7:22bring me the spare you. Guys live within like 15 minutes
- 7:26of your friends, make sure they have a spare key.
- 7:27Please, please, you never know, especially when there's like 2
- 7:31back-to-back months where it's going to happen.
- 7:33You're going to forget your keys inside, you're going to need
- 7:34someone and all the doors are locked.
- 7:36But anyways, I, we were going to go out to get breakfast, I
- 7:40think, or get coffee or what we're going to do.
- 7:43And then I had this box where I had to put the keys on top of.
- 7:47So I'm like, OK, I can make sure that I'm holding the box where I
- 7:50can see the keys. I'm walking out, cool.
- 7:52Right at the edge of the door. It's like, no, we'll just leave
- 7:54the box here. We'll come back for you later.
- 7:57Cool. Awesome.
- 7:58Put the box down at the table, turn around, walk out, lock the
- 8:02door. Boom.
- 8:03You do have a bad. Habit of just locking your door
- 8:05before exiting. I I think it's just like a like
- 8:08a. It's a paranoia.
- 8:10Thing I understand like you lock to make sure it's locked.
- 8:13But also it's that paranoia, paranoia of like leaving the
- 8:16house. Like damn, did I lock the doors?
- 8:17Like no, I remember turning it, it's part of the routine.
- 8:21And then I just get all anxious 'cause I'm like, did I lock it
- 8:23though? Fuck, I don't remember.
- 8:26Anyways, get to the car, but it's not working.
- 8:30Touched my pocket, instantly New.
- 8:33Nope, I forgot that I left the keys on top of that box.
- 8:37OK, so this is where shit gets it hits the fan.
- 8:41I have a little patio. Luckily we left that back door
- 8:43open because, you know, let the burp the burp the house, we call
- 8:47it. Yeah.
- 8:48But now that you're here explaining it to the masses, he
- 8:50will not be doing. It anymore?
- 8:51No, no, unless I'm home. You can feel free to try to
- 8:54answer it and it won't end well for you.
- 8:57But I left the screen door open though the sliding door open.
- 9:01I'm like, I could jump this fence.
- 9:03So I'm like, fuck it, let's do it.
- 9:05Brian pulls up behind me with this phone recording.
- 9:08I'm like, God, now I'm nervous. Whatever, right?
- 9:11I do this the first try. I don't mess.
- 9:13I don't mess up the first time and I jump over.
- 9:16I'm just kidding. There was 2.
- 9:18I had to do it in two tries. First try.
- 9:21I don't I don't succeed. I didn't get enough momentum.
- 9:23I was also doing this in Boltas in my cowboy boots.
- 9:26Not the greatest, not optimal for noting and jumping.
- 9:29Yeah. Anyway, so failed the first
- 9:32time. Second time I'm like no, now I
- 9:34have like. There's a failure behind me.
- 9:37There's a failure behind me and there's six pairs of eyes
- 9:39looking at me and I'm like, I got to make this quick.
- 9:40People are going to call the cops.
- 9:41They're going to be like that man is jumping into that patio,
- 9:44whatever. So boom, I jump success.
- 9:48I use the momentum to get one, like push myself up on the fence
- 9:53and I use that same momentum to jump down.
- 9:55I jump over the fence, I land on my left foot and then I let the
- 10:00momentum fall. So I like, you know, like squat
- 10:03almost. And then I just do a little
- 10:04roll. Easy, smooth.
- 10:06I stand up, boom, perfect 10 scores from all the judges.
- 10:11I feel fine. I'm like, wow, I can't believe I
- 10:12did that. I feel so accomplished.
- 10:13I haven't jumped the fence like that in so long.
- 10:16Cool, grab my keys, lock the sliding door, walk out, lock the
- 10:20door. Cool.
- 10:21Holding the keys in my hand just so I can calmly walk out and not
- 10:24freak out anymore. Walk to the car, we leave, We
- 10:28drive about 40 minutes because there's some traffic.
- 10:30Yeah. I step out of the car and I'm
- 10:33like, oh, oh, my foot feels kind of sore right now.
- 10:36I'm like, Oh well, the impact of it makes sense.
- 10:38You know, I'm wearing cowboy, cowboy boots.
- 10:40They got a little heel. Got a little heel, I'm like OK
- 10:42it normal. I think that's pretty normal.
- 10:46Within a span of 5 minutes it goes from like soreness to just
- 10:51I can't put any weight on my foot and what are we doing?
- 10:55We're playing laser. Tag, we're about to play laser
- 10:57tag. Dulce did say, Are you sure you
- 11:00want to run in those? And I'm like, yeah, I'll be
- 11:01fine. They're comfortable.
- 11:02They're broken in, they're leather.
- 11:04They are comfortable. But now I have a fucking
- 11:06shooting pain in my left foot that every time I step I'm like,
- 11:11what's what's what's limping limping from?
- 11:15We were there for what maybe like an hour and a half?
- 11:16Two hours. Shout out to.
- 11:17Like an eternity. Shout out to Melissa.
- 11:18Happy birthday. It was so fun.
- 11:21Within that span of an hour or two it went from like 5 out of
- 11:2410 pain to like 7 out of 10 pain.
- 11:27We walked out of there and I had just ran for the past like hour
- 11:30cause laser tag is so fun guys like go with your friends.
- 11:33That shit is so cool. Yeah, Melissa popped off with
- 11:34that idea. I want to do that regularly.
- 11:36Yeah, that was so fun. Yeah.
- 11:37And we'll, we'll come back to that, put a pin in that we I'm
- 11:40running, I'm running, I'm running.
- 11:41We get to our next destination. At this point, it's later in the
- 11:44night. My foot, I, I drove from point A
- 11:46to point B again. I've had like maybe like 15
- 11:49minutes of rest. My foot gets cold 'cause I'm not
- 11:52running anymore. I step out of the car. 9.5 out
- 11:56of 10 pain. No, I didn't know it was that.
- 11:57Bad. And I'm not there.
- 11:58Dude. I cannot put any weight.
- 12:00I can't bear any weight on my left foot.
- 12:03I'm thinking now, did I fucking like fracture something?
- 12:06Did I break something? And then it hits me, I'm fucking
- 12:0928 now. Like, like, I can't be jumping
- 12:11fences like that. Welcome to the club of your late
- 12:1320s. So I'm still a little bit, you
- 12:16know, I, I still feel the, the residue of the, of the pain here
- 12:19and there. I can walk normal.
- 12:20I'm not limping anymore, but I, it's a reminder.
- 12:22It's still there, just mocking me.
- 12:25That's my story, guys. In the same vein, the following
- 12:30day, the day after, we had an amazing time Saturday
- 12:33celebrating Melissa's birthday. Lazy tag was so fun.
- 12:36We went to a. Brewery Brewery Bar Yeah.
- 12:41Ish. Yeah.
- 12:41They had really cool pinball games.
- 12:43So fun. There was AD and D1. 10 out of
- 12:4410 had a fantastic time. The next day.
- 12:47I have a mission. It is my journey to do all of my
- 12:50laundry everywhere, all at once. Yeah, I have so much clothes, so
- 12:56many clothes. How many loads?
- 12:58I did three there and did not finish OK.
- 13:03I still had to do 2 OK later that night because we did have
- 13:07plans to go see Gloria's puppy. But in the midst of me going to
- 13:11a laundromat to try and get this done because I can't feasibly
- 13:14doing it do it in my apartment complex that has like 1 laundry
- 13:17machine. Yeah.
- 13:20I've never been to a laundromat. I've never operated a
- 13:23laundromat. I don't know how it works.
- 13:24I'm asking so many questions. I see the the metal racks on
- 13:28wheels and I'm like, let me go take this to my car.
- 13:31Yeah, la, la, la, la, la. I'm so in my head, like
- 13:34stressing about, OK, I need to figure out how to do this.
- 13:39I hope I brought everything I need, like my detergent, my
- 13:42dryer sheets, that I walk past my car and I'm like, oh, fuck.
- 13:45OK, turn around. I parked right on a speed bump.
- 13:49So when I turn around and go back over the speed bump, the
- 13:53cart lifts like one wheel goes off the ground and those things
- 13:56are heavy. So then it starts completely
- 13:59leaning over that. It trips me up on my ankle.
- 14:04I trip, there's a couple getting in the car right next to me, and
- 14:07I'm like, no, they're watching this happen and they're not
- 14:10going to help me because there's no stopping it.
- 14:12Yeah, no, it's me in gravity. Yep.
- 14:14On A11V1. Yeah, I freaking won because I
- 14:18caught myself. But as I did, the entire cart
- 14:21lands on my shin. Fuck.
- 14:25It looks better now. It does.
- 14:26I had a huge bump. He did.
- 14:28He had to I. Had to centre myself.
- 14:31I'm like leaning against my truck or the trunk of my car
- 14:34because I'm thinking, did I just shatter my shin?
- 14:39Yeah, because I just have it dangling there because I'm
- 14:41scared to like step on the floor because it hurts.
- 14:44Yeah, yeah. You know that feeling when the
- 14:48the tears are like about to come like you know if.
- 14:51I they're boiling. They're Yeah.
- 14:53If I commit to the pain, I'm gonna cry.
- 14:54So I did it. Yeah.
- 14:56I took a deep breath, stepped, and it was fine.
- 15:00And I said period. OK, we're loading this up and
- 15:02we're washing this laundry. So we were both a little worse
- 15:06for wear this weekend. Yeah, yeah, no.
- 15:08And, and real quick, I remember hitting my shin like on the
- 15:11playground, like the stairs, and it's a sharp pain and you're
- 15:13like, fuck you like pause for a second because it's like that
- 15:16numbing pain where you just like, I can't put any weight on
- 15:19it. I can't run like I need to stop.
- 15:21And most of the time you get that teary eyed, start crying,
- 15:23'cause that shit hurts. Getting hitting your shin as an
- 15:27adult. Yeah, Doll that it was so
- 15:29inflamed, guys, there was like a ball.
- 15:31It was like. It was, well, a gigantic.
- 15:32It was like 2 kneecaps like one at his knee one in between like
- 15:37in the middle of vision like it was wild.
- 15:39I didn't even notice it until I got to Gloria's and I'm like
- 15:42laying there and I'm like hey guys, look, I fell and I looked
- 15:45down and I see. The freaking bump bulge.
- 15:48It's just like a little red right now, yeah.
- 15:50It's not swollen or anything though.
- 15:51No it still hurts though. Like oh pretty bad if I press on
- 15:55it like I. Feel it.
- 15:56Let me see. Feel the.
- 15:58No, you could feel it. Oh yeah, there's still some
- 16:03swelling, but yeah, dude, I mean, I'm a hard 28, you're a
- 16:06hard 37. Fuck you.
- 16:08We need to be careful within. A hot and sexy 29 bitch 29 four
- 16:16now at least. 4 now. I would like to welcome Melissa
- 16:20to She's going to yell at me. Nevermind, nevermind.
- 16:24I was so close. Guys, do it.
- 16:26Do it. Change of topics.
- 16:29Change of topics. We are here with some stories.
- 16:32Yeah, I went to the president of Disney Channel.
- 16:37I said I want to make history. Oh my God.
- 16:41I'm just kidding. I went up to Jerry and I said,
- 16:43Jerry, I have an idea. You should go first this week.
- 16:49And I said that's a terrible idea and I shut it down.
- 16:52I sent him on his way. No pay, no sick time, nothing.
- 16:56I I did buy him a cookie. Oh, he did thank you because he
- 16:59was so late today. I was, but it's, it's it's fine
- 17:03because it's Thursday and this is all recorded live.
- 17:05Yeah, dude. So today I before we get into it
- 17:08real quick, I do want to shout out the few people that reached
- 17:11out to me regarding the SCP episode.
- 17:13They found it very interesting. You know who you are.
- 17:16But I, yeah, I had, I had fun. It was something new.
- 17:18I would like to revisit that. And then people that learned
- 17:21about it as well, they, they thought it was really
- 17:22fascinating and very like intricate.
- 17:26It's not something you could just listen to like in the
- 17:27background. You really have to listen to it
- 17:29because there's so many technical things, like the files
- 17:32are legit. They, they read legit.
- 17:35So totally understandable. It was a little bit more heavy
- 17:38in terms of the material, but super fun, super creative
- 17:41listening comprehension. Yeah, Yeah.
- 17:43You needed some listening comprehension skills.
- 17:46Good feedback. But today I wanted to talk about
- 17:50a real legend in my opinion that is still found throughout many
- 17:55parts of the world, specifically Mexico.
- 17:58I have I think I've dealt with some of these.
- 18:03My first question to you is, have you ever like lost anything
- 18:05randomly or like have you ever felt like things were
- 18:07disappearing or just little like Travis Suitas little little
- 18:10things happening? In like the 5th grade I lost my
- 18:13entire collection of Pokémon cards that were in a little tin.
- 18:15Hmm. Did anyone else know where they
- 18:18were? My brother but I asked him about
- 18:22it recently like in the last like 2 weeks and he's like I
- 18:24have no idea what you're talking about.
- 18:25Yep. That's a good lie.
- 18:27That's a good lie. I say.
- 18:29We we bring your brother to the stand.
- 18:32We interrogate him. Because I've lost many Pokémon
- 18:35cards and it'd be the closest ones to you.
- 18:38Yeah. It was my beautiful mix of just
- 18:40Pokémon and Yu-gi-oh cards. I'll mix them one.
- 18:42Amazing. No, I'm just kidding.
- 18:44I kid. But yeah, like that where you're
- 18:46just like, dude, I had them right here.
- 18:48There's no reason why they disappeared.
- 18:50Travisuras that happened here and there.
- 18:52I researched about duendes or in the Nawadal term, chaneques.
- 19:00Have you ever heard that word chaneques?
- 19:02Neither have I found. This is the first time I've
- 19:05always known them as like duendes or like Elvis little
- 19:08creatures. But once again, in many parts of
- 19:10Mexico, they can be referred to as chaneques in Nawadal or
- 19:15Aluxes, which is Mayan. So they come from pre Hispanic
- 19:21indigenous mythology specific regions of Veracruz and southern
- 19:24Mexico, deeply connected to older belief systems where
- 19:28nature wasn't just a pretty scenery, it was alive, owned and
- 19:32protected. So I mean, I love that.
- 19:35I mean, once again, I play a druid in D&D that relates to all
- 19:38aspects of my life. But I love that there is some
- 19:42sort of like enforcers of nature and protectors of nature.
- 19:45I think that can come in many different forms.
- 19:47But I, I love that these chanekas are seen as that, you
- 19:52know, one form of protection to nature.
- 19:54I see your face, your your mind. Trying to figure out how they
- 19:57got connected to robbery. OK, no, but there's more.
- 19:59There's more to it, but this is just like, this is the part
- 20:01where I'm like, whoa, this is pretty cool.
- 20:03I have more respect for them. I've never like had any like
- 20:08hate or animosity towards the win this, whatever they may be.
- 20:14But this is like, OK, Ko, I respect that.
- 20:16I love that. Like, I'm glad.
- 20:17You've earned my respect today, that day.
- 20:20So chanek is our belief to guard specific natural spaces, not
- 20:24just forests in general, but individual rivers, caves, and
- 20:27even abandoned areas. It's interesting because water
- 20:31is a lot in a lot of cultures is seen as a spiritual boundary, a
- 20:35place between worlds. If you think nature has security
- 20:40guards, if we're looking at these little things as security
- 20:42guards, these. Little tiny bouncers.
- 20:43Yeah, little tiny bouncers. Do you think you'd be on the
- 20:45allowed list? Yeah, I love nature.
- 20:49I'm not in it all the time, but I will not defile any kind of
- 20:53natural environment that's root. It is leave, especially
- 20:56littering. Leave no trace.
- 20:58Exactly. OK, so let's talk about their
- 21:00appearance. This is This part's a little
- 21:03inconsistent from the sources that I've read, but some
- 21:05descriptions say they look like toddlers with a 65 year old
- 21:09face, they have a dwarfish features, or they can even be
- 21:15described as described as shadowy humanoids.
- 21:18Some babies literally just look like that though.
- 21:21Literally look like old like 2 going on 75.
- 21:26Others say they can shape shift or distort how you perceive them
- 21:30so you might not even know you saw one.
- 21:32Have you ever had like that memory of like I remember seeing
- 21:35this like person who for some reason I thought I recognized
- 21:39but I just overlooked and I'm just carried on with my life.
- 21:42Family that you're visiting? And they like, look familiar,
- 21:45like, oh, I've seen you before. Yeah, maybe.
- 21:48No, no. I.
- 21:49Don't really pay attention. OK.
- 21:50You're just like, yeah, yeah, OK, nice.
- 21:53So chanekes are strongly tied to the concept of the soul or
- 21:57spirit essence. In some traditions, humans are
- 22:00believed to have multiple spiritual components, and
- 22:03chanekes can steal one of them. Whoa.
- 22:06Sometimes it's it's not specifically to kill you, but or
- 22:09attack you, but just to take a piece of you.
- 22:12Some people experience fatigue, confusion, personality changes,
- 22:17illness with no clear cause. Just report having that like
- 22:21weird feeling of just something's missing.
- 22:24Another question for you. OK, what do you think is worse?
- 22:28Getting your card information stolen?
- 22:30Oh my God. Or your soul partially
- 22:32withdrawn. You know, that's a soft spot.
- 22:35I had fraud on my Apple Wallet not that long ago.
- 22:40So did I Oh yeah, not not my Apple Wallet, but that's the
- 22:43one. It's not my soul, it's just so.
- 22:45Tedious. Like I'm, I'm the one having to
- 22:47go through this, I'm the one being affected, but I have to be
- 22:49the one to jump over all these hurdles to fix it and make sure
- 22:53that my information doesn't keep getting stolen.
- 22:55I don't know how to get my soul back.
- 22:56Who do I call? We'll get to that.
- 23:00So there's rituals to get your soul.
- 23:02Back. Oh my God.
- 23:03Yeah, Thank you. I didn't need to know that.
- 23:06In other words, guranderos, traditional healers or healers.
- 23:09There needs to be a topic in the future.
- 23:10Yes, I'm I'll talk a little bit about it today.
- 23:13These people perform ceremonies to call your spirit back from
- 23:16the chaneques. Guranderos can treat soul loss
- 23:19from a chaneke using a susto or fright ritual designed to
- 23:23retrieve the spirit from the location of the fright.
- 23:26The ritual involves limpias, cleansings with herbs, eggs,
- 23:30incense to recenter energy. They use prayers and often call
- 23:35the person's name while returning from the place of the
- 23:38encounter. Chanikas are not always evil.
- 23:42They're just really petty. I've once again I can confirm
- 23:45this. Yeah, checks out.
- 23:46I've experienced this so many times throughout my life.
- 23:49We joke, you know, like, oh, the one that you know, like, oh,
- 23:51where's this? Like, damn, I just had it.
- 23:53The one that you know, it. It happens.
- 23:55Oh my God. Yeah.
- 23:56I never see it as like malicious or once again with like, I'll
- 23:59intent, but it's just like, damn.
- 24:00Like it's just so funny how often it it occurs.
- 24:04One of the first things that comes to mind is most recent,
- 24:07Not most recently, but not too long ago, I lost AD twenty
- 24:10necklace that I had got on Etsy and I put the first D20, which
- 24:15I've talked about on this episode that killed my first
- 24:17character rolling 2 natural ones, which is insane.
- 24:21So I had that necklace. I use it like for maybe a couple
- 24:25months, disappeared, gone. Don't know where it went.
- 24:29I went to Arizona with it, came back, still had it.
- 24:31Went to San Diego with it, came back, still had it like it just
- 24:34it travelled with me everywhere that I went disappeared.
- 24:38So that I think that's one of them that I think whether it was
- 24:43of the one there or something new, how much it meant to me
- 24:45that it just they're like, Yep, this is my now.
- 24:47Damn, that's spiteful. So once again, I've experienced
- 24:51this a lot in my life. No, I'm not forgetful.
- 24:54Yes I am. I'm just trying to justify my
- 24:57forgetfulness with the supernatural excuse and
- 25:00experience. It does it.
- 25:02It really does excuse. Your conscience a little.
- 25:04A little bit Some of the things that you can experience is they
- 25:07hide your belongings, they make you hear things that aren't
- 25:10there, mimic voices and lead you deeper into the wilderness.
- 25:14I. Don't.
- 25:15I don't like the mimic voices. There is a story from
- 25:18folklore.usc.edu talking about it.
- 25:22An experience The informant heard this story from his
- 25:25grandfather four years ago. The informant stated that
- 25:28Dwendes exists where his grandfather is from because he
- 25:31lives in a more Pueblo area in Veracruz, Mexico.
- 25:35On a regular day, his grandfather headed to the
- 25:37Terenos Terenos large plots of land to check on the cattle to
- 25:41make sure they were doing well. The informant stated that in
- 25:45order to get this to the specific plot of land, you need
- 25:48to go through other people's lands, but that throughout his
- 25:51grandfather's years he had built a mental map of how to get to
- 25:54this to his plot of land. It was later in the day at 4:00
- 25:58PM, and suddenly his grandfather felt like he was walking in
- 26:01circles and circles. The next day he woke up in a
- 26:05small passing river, as if he had been carried and placed
- 26:09there, not drowning or anything, but just there.
- 26:12In the water. Yeah, the informant stated that
- 26:15dwendes are kinds of spirits, a sort of energy that guide you
- 26:18away from where you are going, luring you in to kill you.
- 26:23It's in some context that he provided is his grandfather said
- 26:26that when he explained what happened to his family in the
- 26:29Pueblo, they all told him that he had, that it had been
- 26:32dwendes. The legend is only told in the
- 26:35town if it happens to someone. The informant does believe his
- 26:38grandfather because it's interesting, but perhaps it is
- 26:43just some spirit leading you astray.
- 26:45Or maybe he did something to anger the spirit while on his
- 26:49walk. Damn.
- 26:50So if you were to hear someone calling your name in the woods,
- 26:54would you respond? Oh, if I'm alone?
- 26:57No, absolutely not. I'm I'm not running into a a
- 27:03familiar face in the freaking woods.
- 27:04OK, that does not happen. Say you're in Mexico, some
- 27:08whatever part of Mexico your your family's from, and you hear
- 27:11your mom's name calling you from the forest, would you go?
- 27:15You just made it so much harder to say no.
- 27:20I don't know. A part of me is curious to want
- 27:24to know like what is it? Because I think I would know.
- 27:27It's not my mom. I have no business being in a My
- 27:29mom has no business being in the freaking.
- 27:31Jungle. I was going to say the exact
- 27:33same thing. But I'd be like, wait, so who's
- 27:36throwing their voice over there? That's doing a really good
- 27:38impression on my mom. You're like, you should get into
- 27:40voice acting. I got a gig for you.
- 27:42You want to be on the podcast? You're like, do you want to be?
- 27:44You want to portray my mom in a, in a feature film, in a biopic?
- 27:49Speak into the Pike, please. I think I would.
- 27:51I'd say the same. I think my reasoning would be
- 27:52like one, my mom wouldn't be in in the middle of the forest
- 27:56because yes, she likes to explore, but I don't think she's
- 28:00like down to go into the forest 2 I feel like they would ask
- 28:04like, hey, I'm going to go and can you come or like something,
- 28:06you know, not just be there alone or something.
- 28:08Yeah. So I'd be like, yeah, nice try,
- 28:10So. You know what would get me
- 28:12though? What?
- 28:14Someone yelling help? Oh my God, it's like those
- 28:17videos of like the skinwalkers where they're like someone
- 28:19saying help in like a random field.
- 28:22And that wouldn't make me wanna. Yeah, be like damn, I should go
- 28:26I. Don't think it would get me in a
- 28:29field because you can see in a field.
- 28:31True. But if I was in a very like
- 28:33heavily wooded place, I don't know.
- 28:36I watch too much true crime and listen to podcasts that I'd I'd
- 28:40be like ring ring ring, alarm bells, red flags, I have to call
- 28:43the police. Yep, trust your gut.
- 28:45That's what I'll always say that so.
- 28:48So yeah, pretty crazy, right? Chanikas don't just punish
- 28:51random people. They usually target those who
- 28:53disrespect nature, act arrogantly or ignore warnings.
- 28:57We're good. Yeah, so we're good.
- 28:59So some stories doubled as more lessons.
- 29:02Folklore is basically just saying respect the land or the
- 29:04land will humble you, which is very true on many aspects.
- 29:08Nature is not tameable. We do not tame any aspect of
- 29:11nature. So my final question for you, if
- 29:14someone dropped you in the middle of a forest in Veracruz,
- 29:18how long before you accidentally offend a chaneke?
- 29:26I feel like I could go a pretty long while.
- 29:29OK, because one, I have no survival instinct, so I'll
- 29:32probably just be wandering. Just I'll be.
- 29:34Walking just not clueless but just like no thoughts.
- 29:39No, just walking like, Oh my God, that's a pretty plant.
- 29:42Oh, that's another pretty plant. It's.
- 29:44And if I hear water, you always go to water.
- 29:46That's my only survival instinct.
- 29:48That's true. And that's it, Yeah.
- 29:50And if you think about it too, like a forest in Veracruz, that
- 29:53water is probably natural with spring water, like it's not or
- 29:55rainwater, but it's it rains in many parts of Mexico a lot, so
- 29:59it'll be clean to drink. Yeah, and what if I end up in
- 30:02Cabo? There you go, just.
- 30:03That's where the one is leading me.
- 30:05It's like this, Brian. Like you don't need to be in
- 30:07Veracruz. I'm taking you to Cabo.
- 30:08We're going to Cabo, we're going to part of a yarda.
- 30:11So I've always known him as duendes.
- 30:13Cha nekis is a term that I've learned about today, but I
- 30:17thought it was very interesting. I thought some of the nature
- 30:20aspect of it just really tied it into like, wow, I, I love that.
- 30:23It's pretty cool. I think my duende that's been
- 30:27following us is pretty chill, although he has a lot of my
- 30:29stuff, but I respect him, especially like now I think I'm
- 30:33going to set a little druid garden for him to just kind of
- 30:36chill in so you can feel at home.
- 30:38But that's my boy. Poor girl.
- 30:43I think you should mark that as AD and D character for the
- 30:46future. I mean the fact that I was a
- 30:47gnome in at the R.E.M. Fair.
- 30:49And then the fact that I've played a gnome for a one shot,
- 30:53I've had a lot of fun with those characters.
- 30:54Now you need to combine it. Druid Gnome.
- 30:56Druid Gnome would be OK. There it is, guy.
- 30:58That's my next D&D character, a druid gnome.
- 31:02That'd be so fun. Yeah.
- 31:05And druid, Gnome. And then you have a subclass of
- 31:09a rogue so you can steal things that's.
- 31:13Great multiclass, dude. That'd be pretty good.
- 31:16Oh, I didn't want to show you this picture when I was reading
- 31:19about the Kuranderos. I will.
- 31:22It was just like, you know, like the souls, the different, like.
- 31:25Wow, they're bringing the souls back after being stolen.
- 31:27Yeah, that's pretty cool, right? Yeah, that's so trippy.
- 31:30A little blurry, but I mean I like the where like that light's
- 31:34coming from the chest, you know, from where your heart is or
- 31:37where your soul is or whatever the.
- 31:39Damn, I wonder if I've had a part of my soul stolen and I
- 31:42need a Olympia. I feel like if they've tried,
- 31:46they haven't succeeded. I'd.
- 31:47Rather that you take some of my lung has instead.
- 31:50Take take some of my body in front.
- 31:51Of me please the back roll just. Can you send it to my ass and
- 31:57the thighs make? It go a little lower.
- 32:00That was so interesting friend. I had no idea about the whole
- 32:03nature sphere aspect of Blendez. I thought they were just little
- 32:06gremlins like the Yule Lads that come and just steal your things.
- 32:09Yep, they're just gnomes, but from a different part of the
- 32:12world. I like that.
- 32:13Yeah, I, I will say like, I think no matter what I'm reading
- 32:16about, if there's any ties to Mexico, for some reason it's
- 32:19like five times as scarier because those videos and just
- 32:23like the the stuff that I grew up seeing it just it's so much
- 32:26scarier when it's in Spanish. So I'm.
- 32:28Gonna say things in Spanish are they carry more weight?
- 32:31They do. They do.
- 32:33Thank you, Jerry. I appreciate you sharing that.
- 32:35Yeah, I also went into a little rabbit hole of a a story a lot
- 32:44of people might be familiar with from their youth.
- 32:47OK. The game specifically.
- 32:50I want to play a game. We all know how to play in the
- 32:54dead of night. You walk into the bathroom and
- 32:56face the mirror. Next you turn off the lights.
- 33:00Finally staring at your reflection in the dark, you
- 33:03recite the same 2 words three times.
- 33:06Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary.
- 33:13Then you wait. You should be greeted by a
- 33:17horrific figure of a woman in the mirror.
- 33:20It's a game that instills fear even before you start.
- 33:22The anxiety seeps in as soon as the murmurs begin about who
- 33:26would be the unlucky person to perform the ritual.
- 33:29Whoever manages to do the ritual and survive is deemed the
- 33:32bravest of the group. Wow.
- 33:34Have you ever played the Bloody Mary game?
- 33:37Have you ever witnessed A bloodied woman staring back at
- 33:39you over your shoulder? I never have, and honestly, it's
- 33:43because I'm a little too scared to try.
- 33:45OK, I could do it here now, in front of you with the lights on.
- 33:48Yeah, because I have protection. You'll you'll fuck her up.
- 33:51Yeah, yeah, for sure like you. And I I know that for sure.
- 33:54Have you ever tried it? Yeah, I have second or third
- 33:57grade. My elementary school, there was
- 33:59a specific bathroom supposedly was a haunted one, but that's
- 34:03when I first learned about the Bloody Mary game.
- 34:05And I did try it after school program.
- 34:07And it was like on one of the days that it was early darkness.
- 34:09So it was even scarier because the lights were already kind of
- 34:12like super light and the ones in the bathrooms like super dim.
- 34:16So pretty great. It it was also one of those
- 34:19times where you just say and then you run out, so.
- 34:21Absolutely. You don't wait.
- 34:22There's no waiting. No, you're so brave.
- 34:24I feel like I didn't hear about it at school.
- 34:27I mostly heard about it at like family parties with like the the
- 34:32freaking demos and stuff like. Oh yeah.
- 34:34Have you ever played Bloody Mary?
- 34:37I'm so surprised you did it at school.
- 34:39I feel like that's kind of a vibe, but when are you able to
- 34:42just have a bathroom to yourself in public school and just be
- 34:45able to turn off the lights? Exactly.
- 34:47Do you remember what the rules were?
- 34:50Lights. I I, I don't remember if it was
- 34:52like you, you flick the lights three times or something.
- 34:54Yeah, everyone has a different. Way of playing.
- 34:57Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucking change every every
- 35:00couple years. But what I remember is you'd
- 35:02like flick the lights three times and then you turn them off
- 35:05and then you go in front of the mirror and then you say it three
- 35:08times and then I think that's it.
- 35:11I've only ever known the most basic simle version of You go
- 35:13in, you turn off the lights and you just say it.
- 35:16OK. But I've heard other people say
- 35:17you have to flush the toilet, you have to have the sink
- 35:19running. You gotta.
- 35:22Some aspect of water for some. Reason to your bathroom by
- 35:25flushing the toilet. She'd be like hey, you have good
- 35:27water pressure. Nice.
- 35:28You got to spray the the Glade, the air freshener.
- 35:30She's not going to come in if it smells bad.
- 35:32And she's not coming if it's Cinnamon Apple.
- 35:34She fucking. She hates cinnamon apple.
- 35:36She loves linen. Linen.
- 35:38Yeah, exactly. Fresh linen.
- 35:39It smells like that Breeze. Ocean Breeze.
- 35:41Absolutely Hawaiian mist. Yeah, anything that's like
- 35:45citrusy, she's going to. Show up?
- 35:46Absolutely. She loves it.
- 35:47So where does this game come from?
- 35:50The version we know today can be traced back to a mirror
- 35:53divination rituals that date back centuries.
- 35:56Shit, long before it became asleep over Dare, people were
- 35:59already using mirrors as a way to try and glimpse the future.
- 36:02Instead of summoning a ghost, the goal was to usually see a
- 36:06future spouse. Oh, OK.
- 36:09A version of the ritual appears in a 1786 poem by Robert Burns
- 36:12titled Halloween. A footnote to the poem describes
- 36:15how a person would look into a mirror, often by candlelight,
- 36:18hoping to see the face of the person they would eventually
- 36:21marry. Many hopefuls, usually young
- 36:23women, would gladly play along, anticipating the face of a
- 36:27handsome man smiling back at them.
- 36:29However, that was not always the case.
- 36:32If someone was destined to be unmarried, instead of seeing
- 36:35their future partner in the reflection, they would see the
- 36:37Grim Reaper. What?
- 36:40By the Victorian era, these mirror rituals had become more
- 36:43popular, especially as night time games and seasonal
- 36:46traditions. Some versions involved holding a
- 36:49candle when walking towards a mirror, others included combing
- 36:51your hair in the mirror at midnight.
- 36:54Like specifically at midnight. The goal stayed mostly the same.
- 36:57You were trying to see someone appear behind you in the
- 36:59reflection. Usually a future husband, but
- 37:01not always. The Grim Reaper making an
- 37:05appearance. Imagine that's your future
- 37:06husband. He's.
- 37:07Bored. He's like, I'm just gonna fuck
- 37:08with him. Bam boom, he he, he's doing a
- 37:11cameo. Hey, that's $5.
- 37:14Hey, yeah. Per minute.
- 37:15Per minute for sure. That's my appearance fee.
- 37:21There was also a superstition tied to mirrors that lasted
- 37:23through the 19th century. If a person stared into one for
- 37:26too long, something else would appear.
- 37:29In some tellings, it was the devil.
- 37:30Oh shit. In others, it was a distorted
- 37:33version of your own reflection. It's easy to see how these fears
- 37:36would eventually cross paths and become a ritual of itself.
- 37:39That's the thing though, I did not go into a research into it,
- 37:43but there is, I think, a scientific term that when you
- 37:46stare at yourself in the mirror for too long, you start like,
- 37:49things start swirling, moving around, OK, your conscience or
- 37:52something does something real weird.
- 37:54So maybe that plays a part of it and I should have done more
- 37:56research, but I didn't. Go ask the mirror, they'll tell
- 38:00you. Over time, the purpose of the
- 38:02ritual shifted. Instead of predicting marriage,
- 38:05it became about summoning something.
- 38:07The instructions got simpler, but the setting stayed the same.
- 38:10A dark room, a mirror, and a repeated name.
- 38:15When you first heard of Bloody Mary, did anyone give you a
- 38:18reason as to why it would work? No, right.
- 38:21Never. No.
- 38:21They're just like, oh, if you do this, this happens.
- 38:23Yeah. Do you just say the name and she
- 38:25appears? Yeah.
- 38:26I had personally never heard of the marriage portion before
- 38:29doing this research. The first written anecdotes of
- 38:34Bloody Mary were published in the late 1970s.
- 38:36Folklore researcher Janet Langlois published a research
- 38:39paper on the subject in 1978. Her research stated that before
- 38:44being written down, the story of Bloody Mary in its modern form
- 38:47circulated in post World War 2 America.
- 38:50It's spread informally, mostly through children and teenagers.
- 38:53Sleepover summer camps and schoolyards help pass the story
- 38:56along. Perfect example.
- 38:58You heard about it at school? Yep, I would hear about it late
- 39:01at night at parties. Wow.
- 39:03The most common example of the folk tale centers around a
- 39:05spirit named Mary. The Mary in question could refer
- 39:09to a number of women, the two most popular being Mary, Queen
- 39:12of Scots or Queen Mary the First of England and Ireland.
- 39:16Oh, OK. OK, a little historical
- 39:19background. OK.
- 39:21Go for it. Mary the First was the first
- 39:22queen to rule England in her own right.
- 39:24She took the throne in 1553 after a messy succession crisis
- 39:28and immediately set out to reverse England's shift towards
- 39:31Protestantism. As a devout Catholic, she
- 39:34believed the country had strayed too far from the Church.
- 39:38She began restoring Catholic practices and targeting those
- 39:40who refused to convert. Over the next five years, Mary
- 39:44authorized the execution of hundreds of Protestants.
- 39:48Many were burned at the stake for heresy, a punishment meant
- 39:51to be both public and intimidating.
- 39:53These executions are widely reported and quickly shaped how
- 39:56people viewed her rule. According to Encyclopedia
- 39:59Britannica, roughly 300 Protestants were executed during
- 40:02her reign. Damn.
- 40:03Mess of H. That's where the nickname came
- 40:06from. Protestant writers and political
- 40:08opponents began referring to her as Bloody Mary.
- 40:11Oh shit. Using the executions as proof of
- 40:14her cruelty, The name stuck, and over time it drifted away from
- 40:18politics and into full court. If not Queen Mary the first.
- 40:23Other versions describe Bloody Mary as the victim of a violent
- 40:25act. Some say she was a woman burned
- 40:28for being a witch. Others describe a student
- 40:30murdered by her teachers. Another version portrays her as
- 40:33a grieving mother whose children were killed.
- 40:36Does that. Sound like Yorona.
- 40:38Exactly from Scotland. It's the white version, it's the
- 40:42gentrified. She's from Scotland.
- 40:44Oh, La Yorona, how she appeared in Mexico, who knows the the the
- 40:47gnomes letter there. There you go.
- 40:49Absolutely. These stories don't agree on who
- 40:52she was, but they share the same idea.
- 40:55A woman tied to violence appearing in a mirror when
- 40:57summoned. Did you have a specific picture
- 41:01of her when you went in there? Ready to say the name three
- 41:04times? No, but I feel like there was
- 41:07images that circulated like of like art of a just a like a
- 41:11ghostly bloody girl in white old for sure, but I mean nothing
- 41:17like, you know, Queen Mary and like her Queen, you know, attire
- 41:22or anything. I did not picture an older lady
- 41:24in the crown, not at all. No, that is really cool, though.
- 41:27I mean, once again, the separation of church and
- 41:29statewide is so important. And because religious
- 41:31persecution like that. Yeah, true.
- 41:33You know, say it louder. But the Scottish one, I mean,
- 41:37that's cool. Yeah.
- 41:37It's so it's so similar to the Urana.
- 41:39So once again, it's like, well, what did that one look like?
- 41:43Did she have kids and was she looking for Wow?
- 41:47Yeah. No, I would just imagine it's
- 41:49just like a bloody, like raggedy bloody.
- 41:54Yeah. Just I don't know.
- 41:55I think my head there was 2 versions.
- 41:58There was one I thought of at the time, which if for some
- 42:01reason I thought the The Grudge, but not specifically the The
- 42:06Grudge movie, but the parody of Scary Movie where she's coming
- 42:12out of the TV and she's soaking wet.
- 42:14That's who would I envision. OK of Bloody Mary.
- 42:16Was she bloody? No, she was just wet.
- 42:18She was. Just wet, but I mean make that
- 42:20make that red and. Looking at it now, I did picture
- 42:23a more like, I wouldn't say young, I never pictured her to
- 42:27be young, but just like a very scary lady covered in blood.
- 42:32Did you ever play Day by Daylight?
- 42:34Yes. Do you remember the banshee?
- 42:38Very similar vibes to the Gray. Yeah.
- 42:40Yeah, her hair was like whipping back and forth and she kind of
- 42:43looked like a mummy chasing you with really skinny bodies.
- 42:46Body was tea. She was cinched.
- 42:48She absolutely was cinched with those little, little bands.
- 42:52But that's who I envision now. Oh my God, it was McLaren.
- 42:56No, it was. It was Alexander McQueen.
- 42:58There you go, McQueen. Now the ritual exists as a
- 43:01common slumber party game. It's story is constantly retold,
- 43:05especially around Halloween. The game involves participants
- 43:08entering a dark bathroom and saying Bloody Mary three times.
- 43:11After the third time, a bloodied woman is supposed to appear in
- 43:13the mirror and do something horrific to the person who
- 43:15summoned her. Have you ever tried it?
- 43:18Or were you like me and decided it was absolutely not worth the
- 43:22risk just in case? Trust your gut.
- 43:26Welcome back to the Daily BJ. We're gonna save Bloody Mary
- 43:29into the mirror three times. No, absolutely not.
- 43:32I would quit the podcast. Jerry lights on, nothing to
- 43:38throw at you. No, my rainbow flag.
- 43:40My yeah, just. Gay.
- 43:43You're gay. Now you're gay.
- 43:47It is gay. It is gay.
- 43:52The rule of threes, I want to know, I want to do more research
- 43:55on that because for whatever reason, it's always like there's
- 43:58always a sequence of threes that summons that, like, click your
- 44:01heels through. Yeah, it's a ritual of some
- 44:03sort. Like why 3 you know?
- 44:06I think maybe because 2 is a it's even.
- 44:09Because 789. If there's two of us, we can
- 44:13separate one and one, okay, it's a nice pairing.
- 44:15But when there's a third that's just, it's just weird.
- 44:19To some people, true. You know, there's big population
- 44:23out there that. I love the third.
- 44:25I supported. I supported.
- 44:28But yeah, yeah, I wonder why, like, is it?
- 44:30Is it the imbalance of what you just said?
- 44:32Is it? I think that's it.
- 44:34It's the imbalance. You said it beautifully because
- 44:37it can either go one way or the other.
- 44:38Yeah. You're tipping the scale in One
- 44:40Direction. And are you tipping the scale of
- 44:43like from the light living to the dead, making that
- 44:46connection, that bridge? I don't know.
- 44:49It's interesting, right? Maybe the the visual of threes
- 44:51is also interesting because it could only ever be some sort of
- 44:54like triangle. That too, and we all know
- 44:58Illuminati. Lead back to Illuminati Yeah
- 45:04interesting. But that's so cool, Brian, like
- 45:06I, I, I didn't know it was tied to the Scottish and Queen Mary.
- 45:11That's. Also just theory people are
- 45:12trying to say like OK well her name was called Bloody Mary why
- 45:16is this game now called? Bloody Mary also like the whole
- 45:19Tinder thing at the beginning, like it was used to find suitors
- 45:22and absolutely that's so cool like they just.
- 45:25It all goes back to just paganism.
- 45:28I don't know why paganism got so left behind in modern culture.
- 45:33Society, human society, went so many centuries with these are
- 45:36our beliefs, these are our practices to very quickly be.
- 45:41White. Sidelined white for other
- 45:45establishments of religion, yet they're still they're still
- 45:49sprinkled into just folklore of of the modern age.
- 45:55I feel like if you asked some sort of a middle schooler right
- 45:58now, like what's bloody Mary they.
- 46:00They would know, I feel. Like they would know that's.
- 46:02So true. Wow, interesting.
- 46:07So once again, guys, we're all going to do it right now.
- 46:09Nope. Come, come with, come with me.
- 46:10Wrong to the to the. This will be the Lassie here of
- 46:13Jerry on this podcast. I'll be I'm going to be found in
- 46:16the restroom. You're married, dancing.
- 46:19You have no reason to be calling No Bloody Mary.
- 46:22Leave Bloody Mary out of this dancing with You know what I
- 46:24need Bloody Mario. I'll do that one.
- 46:27Above my head, just like Jesus said, you said bloody Mario the
- 46:32plumber. Somebody a Mario but bloody get
- 46:37your ass over. Here, pulling through the glass,
- 46:39over here, shorts, you know. Short guy I.
- 46:43Got some piping for you and you can work on?
- 46:46I got a pipe you can trade. That's crazy, why not Luigi?
- 46:54What's wrong with Luigi? You can bring both.
- 46:55I support. Threes.
- 46:57There you go, threes. Rule of thirds.
- 47:00Dang, well let us know. Did you ever play that game?
- 47:04Also, what other games? What was your experience with
- 47:09Bloody Mary like? How was it played back when you
- 47:11first heard about it? That would be.
- 47:12Interesting. Like did were you envisioning
- 47:15just a girl bloody face or were you thinking of Queen Mary, the
- 47:18first of exactly. England and Ireland?
- 47:21Yeah, I know I wasn't. You're like, Nope, not today.
- 47:26I will. I always want to go back to like
- 47:28the childhood of memories of these creepy places that I grew
- 47:32up remembering because. We should go to them.
- 47:35We should. One of them was my elementary
- 47:37school. Like I would want to go back,
- 47:38'cause to me, like that's cool. Like the hallway, the wood
- 47:41floors, like I mean, I'm sure it's got renovated maybe, I
- 47:44don't know. But the basement, like there was
- 47:46classrooms down there. In the basement.
- 47:48Yeah, my second grade classroom was in the basement of the main
- 47:51building. That's scary.
- 47:52And then all around was like the the trailer, the classrooms and
- 47:56mobile ones. But I remember that those
- 47:58classrooms, they were just super creepy going downstairs.
- 48:00And there was 1 bathroom that was towards the back of the
- 48:02school. Well technically towards the
- 48:04front of the school, but it was like in the back.
- 48:06That was a haunted one, the quote UN quote haunted.
- 48:10But it was a creepy school. Like that was a creepy in my
- 48:12opinion. I thought it was all schools are
- 48:14creepy. Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:15But one with the basement and you have class down there, you
- 48:17know, I don't want to be anywhere near a boiler room
- 48:20because that's also so. Spooky and scary.
- 48:25I have a lot of dreams that I'm back in my elementary school in
- 48:29one area specifically, and I'm always like trying to run from
- 48:33something and I can't. But it's in that.
- 48:35Same quad area of my childhood elementary.
- 48:39School running, you're like those running dreams or like the
- 48:42chase scenes in In Your dreams are just like the worst when you
- 48:45can't run or you're running super slow.
- 48:47You're running through like molasses or something.
- 48:49And then you wake up and I still run like that and I'm just like,
- 48:51what the fuck? I know my treadmill speed is at
- 48:55.1 but my elevation is at 30. There you go.
- 48:59There you go. Like I'm climbing a mountain.
- 49:02Do you remember like any specific dreams where you were
- 49:05like damn I like I know I'm awake?
- 49:08Oh absolutely I that was my obsession in middle school lucid
- 49:11dreaming. I was locked in at 13 years old
- 49:16doing my research on how to lucid dream.
- 49:18YouTube playlist memorized. A phrase that you can say right
- 49:24before or going to bed, where you just keep repeating it to
- 49:27yourself so that when you say it in your dream, you're like, oh,
- 49:31that's the phrase I'm awake in my dream.
- 49:35Or a certain action that you did repeat.
- 49:37I I would do an action. I think it's the action that
- 49:38yeah, yeah, I remember you mentioning.
- 49:40I saw one specific YouTube video that just stuck with me that
- 49:43said pay attention to clocks and if you're reading in a dream
- 49:47you'll notice that there it's not English.
- 49:51Like the language is not. Your brain is not making words
- 49:54that you can read. Percy Jackson when the the words
- 49:57turn to Greek. Yeah, the Greek turns to
- 49:59English. Very similar.
- 50:01And then the third thing was just physical touch.
- 50:04So you had to make it a habit to try and push one hand through
- 50:08the other through your palm. So you're making like a kind of
- 50:11AT shape with one hand. Little time out.
- 50:14You're trying to push the other one through like a freaking
- 50:16dagger. Wow.
- 50:18And one time I had gotten so used to just doing it at regular
- 50:21intervals. This was back when there was
- 50:24clocks everywhere like. Old.
- 50:26Clocks. And the thing was, if you ever
- 50:28see a clock, do it so it stays ingrained, so it becomes just
- 50:32second nature. And it happened in dream and my
- 50:35hand went through and I'm like, I'm dreaming.
- 50:39You can just imagine when my 13 year old mind decided to do with
- 50:42that dream. I'll let you all be the judge of
- 50:44that. Pubescent Brian at the right
- 50:46page of 13. Lucid dreaming in a world that
- 50:49is under his control. I wonder what he did.
- 50:52Pitt. Any kind of male celebrities of
- 50:53the time, You name them, you name them.
- 50:58Wow, good. I'm happy for you.
- 50:59I, I have never experienced that from what I know or remember,
- 51:03but it is something I've always been intrigued of, intrigued of
- 51:06learning more about. Recently I did do my little
- 51:08research and I did see that the those phrases and those actions
- 51:12that you can take to help. But I mean, it's backed by
- 51:15science. So from what it looks like, it
- 51:18looks pretty fun I've heard. Like connections that you can
- 51:21also kind of use it for astral projection which I think is.
- 51:24Also really interesting. That'd be that'd be interesting
- 51:26too. Oh, a whole sleep episode.
- 51:28The sleep cast. All right, guys, welcome back.
- 51:30Today we're going to be sleeping.
- 51:32We're going to be trying to lucid dream.
- 51:33We're going to try to lucid dream and astral project.
- 51:35So yeah, stay. Tuned.
- 51:37Yeah. Let me know if I start snoring
- 51:38really loud and if you think I might have sleep apnea, because
- 51:42then I'll e-mail my doctor. All right.
- 51:45Well, do you have any song recommendation for the day?
- 51:48I do actually. I say actually, I have one like
- 51:53every freaking week. My suggestion is gonna be
- 52:00whatever is number one on my day list, which is Telephone by Lady
- 52:02Gaga. That's amazing cuz I had a Lady
- 52:05Gaga song. I know you sent it to me
- 52:08earlier. I was going to say Bloody Mary
- 52:10just stay on theme, but oh. That would have been so smart.
- 52:14We were a great podcaster would have had that lined up.
- 52:19Good thing one of us said it, I think.
- 52:20I mean. You're so Jerry, I can't do this
- 52:23without you. But it's so it's, it's going to
- 52:24be Bloody Mary. It was going to be Bloody Mary.
- 52:26But the song I had on repeat today, which I did so text Brian
- 52:29about, was fashion of his love. I was made for the pimp, the
- 52:35fashion of his little. Crazy like the vocals, the the
- 52:38the beat, it's it's so 80s and look at that.
- 52:44I started off, I started off episode singing and now you end
- 52:51it singing. So hit that.
- 52:52Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, Brian Lopez.
- 52:59I don't remember the words. I'm going to be the one that you
- 53:03love. I was made for love.
- 53:06Him fashion of his love. Thank you so much, ladies and
- 53:09gentlemen. Whoo.
- 53:10This has been the Daily BJ. I'm Brian and I'm Jerry.
- 53:14We no, we're not. We are not.
- 53:17I have to say this has been the daily BJ, I'm Brian and I'm
- 53:21Jerry. Thank you guys.
- 53:23See you next time. Have a great day, have a great
- 53:25week, have a great life. All your dreams are going to
- 53:28come true. Spirits blended.
- 53:31Leave them alone. Leave our listeners alone.
- 53:34Do not lead them into a. Dark part of the forest if if
- 53:37you call of using a a mimic of someone that they know or a
- 53:41voice that they know, don't let them follow.
- 53:43If you hear us in a forest, it is not us.
- 53:46I promise you it is not me. It might be me.
- 53:48But it's not me. But I wouldn't be calling you to
- 53:52to come to me 'cause what if you don't want to go?
- 53:56I'm not going to force you and be like, hey, come if you want
- 54:01like or not.
