- 0:56The Arise Women of God Podcast.
- 0:58Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 1:03I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:04Andersen, and joining me today is Amy Johnson from our Women warriors of Light Advisory Board.
- 1:11Over the past couple of days, we've defined what faith goals are and why we need them.
- 1:16And now we're getting into the nitty gritty.
- 1:19First, we're going to discuss how to capture the download God is giving you based on how you actually process information.
- 1:25So second, we'll share the National Geographic zoom story, which is actually the secret to not running away when God shows you a huge mission.
- 1:34Third, we'll talk about the 42% rule and how to use visual anchors to keep your goal right in front of your face.
- 1:43And finally, we're going to tackle the elephant in the room.
- 1:46What to do when all hell breaks loose and your progress completely stops.
- 1:51But first, let's talk about capturing the download.
- 1:54I do everything with my journal and my pen and God on my knees.
- 1:59Everything.
- 2:00If I have to make a decision.
- 2:02If actually.
- 2:02And every morning I just.
- 2:05That's.
- 2:05That's how I do it.
- 2:07I.
- 2:07I know that doesn't always work for everyone, but that's how I do it.
- 2:11I write down what I think I hear him say as best as I can.
- 2:14I love that, too.
- 2:15I am also.
- 2:16I also process things by writing.
- 2:18And so I just have journal after journal of Tamara just writing things down.
- 2:21But I know that not everybody processes this way.
- 2:25What are some of the other ways you've seen people process?
- 2:28I know some people talk it out.
- 2:30Right.
- 2:31Well, I'm also a talker.
- 2:33And that's like.
- 2:33It's really helpful for me to have a good friend so that I can talk it out and get it out and think it out and And I'll often say, if I'm in a safe place with someone, I'll often
- 2:45say, hang on, be patient.
- 2:48It feels like it's coming as I'm talking, right?
- 2:52But I have a friend who really values the inspired counsel of others.
- 2:59And so she will ask a question and she will have someone else talk it out.
- 3:06And then she can glean from what they say what is inspired for her and how to move forward for her.
- 3:15Whether you are a writer or a talker, the key is getting that inspiration out of your head and into the physical, physical world.
- 3:23But once it's on paper, that big picture may feel like a super heavy weight on your chest.
- 3:28Amy has a specific way of asking the Lord to break that weight down into bite sized steps.
- 3:34One of the most important things I do is often get a big picture in my brain of what God wants.
- 3:43And if I just stare at that big picture, that's too much.
- 3:47So I am forever asking, how, what does that look like?
- 3:53And have the Lord break it down smaller and smaller and smaller until I feel like, okay, that I can do.
- 4:01Today, if God showed us the whole map all at once, we would probably run screaming, right?
- 4:08I know I would.
- 4:09If I had seen the full scope of Women warriors of light years ago.
- 4:13It's like those zoomed in pictures we see in magazines where you only see a tiny piece of texture until the lens pulls back.
- 4:23Amy's going to share a little bit more about this analogy.
- 4:27And when I was a little girl, we had National Geographic made a kids magazine called World Coming.
- 4:32But on the back of the world there was these zoomed in pictures and you would get this much and they would say, what do you think this is?
- 4:41And we would stare at those pictures forever.
- 4:44And then you'd read the answer and you were like, oh, that's what it really was.
- 4:49And I feel like that's how God is, is that we think we're getting this big picture, but really we're just zoomed in on this little tiny section.
- 4:56And as we go to him say, how do I do this?
- 4:58How do I do this?
- 4:59And things start to unfold, we realize, oh, there's a much grander landscape here that I could not even have understood.
- 5:06We only see the zoomed in part, but God sees the forest.
- 5:10To stay focused on our little section of woods, we, we have to use every psychological advantage we have, starting with the power of the pen.
- 5:20All right, so we've talked about brainstorming with God, getting the idea, writing it down.
- 5:26There's creative ways to do it if.
- 5:28If you like looking at something on your mirror, you could even take like a 3 by 5 card, write the big goal and marker and either laminate it or a totally redneck hack is to take packing tape and
- 5:41put it all over the three by five card and then you can write on it with dry RA markers and write like a weekly goal on there.
- 5:48Put it in your shower or.
- 5:50Oh yes, put it in your shower.
- 5:53Once its laminated You can do anything with it.
- 5:54Yeah.
- 5:55If you prefer having it as a lock screen on your phone, there's ways that you can build a screensaver super Simply like in PowerPoint or Canva, and just change that out.
- 6:07Maybe if you spend a lot of time in your car, you put a note in your car.
- 6:11These are my goals this week and I'm going to accomplish them.
- 6:14Or God will inspire you to find creative ways that you can record the goal somewhere where it's in your face.
- 6:24Just the act of writing a goal down means you're 42% more likely to actually accomplish it.
- 6:31So huge.
- 6:32Huge.
- 6:33If you want to increase the chances that you'll do it even more.
- 6:38So talk to somebody about it.
- 6:40Find somebody that you can say, hey, I'm setting this goal.
- 6:44We call them an accountability partner.
- 6:46And maybe you're setting a goal too.
- 6:49Maybe we can hold each other accountable.
- 6:50You know, pick somebody that you love, that you trust, that you feel safe with, and that you can maybe support each other.
- 6:57Because I've found that to be so very helpful in my life when I'm setting big goals, especially ones that are scary or hard, or when you have obstacles.
- 7:07It's nice to have somebody to say, talk to and say, I had a really hard week and here's why all these things came up.
- 7:14I didn't reach my goal.
- 7:15And maybe you can help me brainstorm my way through this so that you're not tackling it alone.
- 7:21Right.
- 7:23And putting the goal where you can always see it.
- 7:25Yes.
- 7:27When I first started doing Mary Kay, I was determined to become a director really fast because I had five little children and I needed to provide.
- 7:37And so Mary Kay is all about doing that.
- 7:40And so I've did every step they taught us to do, and one of them was keep it where you can see it.
- 7:46And so I would walk past this massive goal of becoming a director and did it in eight months because it's in your.
- 7:54It's in your face, it's in your space, it's in your brain.
- 7:57It's what you're thinking about is what you're Brain about and you see opportunities to move forward because it's always there.
- 8:05From vision boards to whiteboards to redneck hacks with packing tape on your mirror.
- 8:11Whatever it takes to keep the goal right in front of your face, that's the important thing.
- 8:16But even with the best vision board, there are weeks when everything seems to go wrong.
- 8:21That is when you need to understand the dam principle.
- 8:26I always found it fascinating that one of the meanings of the word damn is to stop progress.
- 8:34That's what if you dam up a river, it stops its progress.
- 8:37Satan is damned.
- 8:38He cannot make any further progress.
- 8:40And so he is jealous of all of us as we move forward and make progress in our lives.
- 8:46And so he wants us to stop and be miserable like he is.
- 8:51And so just remember that that is the adversary's tactic.
- 8:54And he uses it quite effectively all the time.
- 8:58Feel guilty and you feel shame and the adversary starts putting these negative thoughts in your mind and you're just like, ah, you want to give up.
- 9:06You want to say it's not worth doing.
- 9:10And if you want to keep moving forward, that's why yoking yourself with Jesus is so important.
- 9:16And we have a free resource for all of you amazing women out there called our Guide to Goal Setting.
- 9:24And in this free download on our Women warriors of Light website, you will find a Cast out the Adversary page.
- 9:33And it walks you through casting him out, along with any tools that he's using.
- 9:39Because it's spiritual warfare here, ladies.
- 9:42Bringing in light and calling on angels to help fill you full of light, help be your companions.
- 9:51And I tell you, anytime I feel discouraged and I walk myself through that, I end up leaving.
- 9:57It's like the anxiety's gone.
- 9:59I've cast out anxiety, I've cast out discouragement, and I cast out.
- 10:02You can cast out those feelings and bring in confidence and faith and peace.
- 10:08And I tell you what, that one thing alone has helped me so much with my goals.
- 10:14Because when I'm feeling discouraged and don't want to keep going, I know God has my back.
- 10:19And if I just cast out darkness and bring in God's light again and kind of yoke myself to him again, then I feel like I have the energy to keep moving forward.
- 10:30Yoked to Jesus.
- 10:32If you need that specific Cast out the Adversary protocol that we mentioned in today's episode, you can find it inside our free A Guide to Goal Setting for Christian Women.
