- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next year
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the
- 0:11Speaker 1: shock circuit. Good
- 0:12Speaker 2: morning. Welcome to, well, the middle of the week already.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's a short work and school week for all of us.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Some of us. So I hope that you have your
- 0:21Speaker 2: energy levels up. I'm here to keep you company with
- 0:23Speaker 2: some of the best music ever this morning. Don't go anywhere.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Um, I would say that this week, still, you know,
- 0:34Speaker 2: pretty on the quiet side because I know a lot
- 0:36Speaker 2: of you preparing for your PSLE O Levels, uh, PSLE
- 0:40Speaker 2: O Levels, what am I talking about? PSLE oral exams.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Thank goodness there's not something called PSLE O levels, OK?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Taking a while for me to wake up and start
- 0:51Speaker 2: up the engine this morning as well. I'm very, very
- 0:54Speaker 2: tired these couple of days, but it's my fault. I
- 0:57Speaker 2: did it to myself, and I hope that you're feeling
- 0:59Speaker 2: much better than me this morning, more alert, more awake,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and if you are preparing for your PSLE oral examinations, um,
- 1:07Speaker 2: my friends at Tanan and myself, we're dropping an oral
- 1:11Speaker 2: exam video very soon.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So I'm not sure if you recall, like, um, a
- 1:15Speaker 2: few months back, we did a collaboration where we taught
- 1:18Speaker 2: each other, um, English and Mandarin, OK? So we have
- 1:21Speaker 2: to read each other's scripts. And it's just hilarious, honestly,
- 1:25Speaker 2: like I, I think they're just basically laughing at me
- 1:28Speaker 2: at this point and my inability to speak Mandarin and
- 1:32Speaker 2: vice versa because we get the DJs to also read
- 1:34Speaker 2: the English scripts and all that. So, this time around,
- 1:37Speaker 2: we're taking on past exam questions and papers from PSLE.
- 1:42Speaker 2: So this one is the oral exam. It's coming out.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I think it should be dropping today or maybe tomorrow,
- 1:48Speaker 2: but sometime these couple of days. So please watch out
- 1:51Speaker 2: for it. It's gonna be hilarious. Um, I haven't seen
- 1:53Speaker 2: it myself, but I think the editor said that, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: they were having a ball of a time editing it.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So I have faith, I have faith. Uh, watch out.
- 2:01Speaker 2: It'll be a collab post between 987 and 933. Anyway,
- 2:06Speaker 2: there was something, um, that was a word that was
- 2:08Speaker 2: used to describe me back then when I was in
- 2:11Speaker 2: school because during
- 2:13Speaker 2: Certain um classes and during certain subjects, I would quite
- 2:17Speaker 2: literally daydream and the teacher would catch me a few
- 2:19Speaker 2: times and she'd be like, stop daydreaming, huh? What are
- 2:22Speaker 2: you looking at? What are you looking at outside? that
- 2:24Speaker 2: kind of thing. So yeah, I did get, um, I
- 2:27Speaker 2: did get called out a couple of times. I don't
- 2:29Speaker 2: know why. I think for me, because my attention span is, yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 2: maybe I had an issue with attention span in the
- 2:35Speaker 2: past as well. Um, aside from reading,
- 2:38Speaker 2: Um, novels like language and like, you know, English, lit,
- 2:42Speaker 2: this kind of humanity subjects, where everything else would make
- 2:44Speaker 2: me just zone out. I don't know if you feel me,
- 2:47Speaker 2: but it really depends what your interests and your strengths are, right? Anyway, um,
- 2:52Speaker 2: coming up in just a bit, something interesting coming from
- 2:54Speaker 2: our friends over at NUS. Now, as you know, we've
- 2:58Speaker 2: had our issues and our struggles and um I guess
- 3:02Speaker 2: change constantly, rules that are constantly changing and shifting because
- 3:06Speaker 2: of AI, right?
- 3:08Speaker 2: And I can only imagine what a different environment it
- 3:10Speaker 2: is now in school with the presence of AI and
- 3:13Speaker 2: chat GBT and many other different platforms. Whatever you use,
- 3:16Speaker 2: cloud or anything that you use, right? So, I'll tell
- 3:19Speaker 2: you what our friends at NUS are doing and what
- 3:22Speaker 2: the freshmen have to go through as well. Just before
- 3:25Speaker 2: we open up phone lines to get your dedications and
- 3:27Speaker 2: song requests before you get to school,
- 3:30Speaker 2: Going over to NUS right now, um, you know, NUS,
- 3:33Speaker 2: one of the top universities, not just in Asia, but
- 3:36Speaker 2: in the world, I would say it's quite coveted. The
- 3:38Speaker 2: students at NUS are about to get chat GPT access. Now,
- 3:43Speaker 2: before you wonder, eh, what do you mean? Don't we
- 3:45Speaker 2: all have chat GPT access? Nope, nope, nope, it's different
- 3:48Speaker 2: because what they have is chat GPT EDU. It's education
- 3:53Speaker 2: by OpenAI. So, it's an official collaboration between the university
- 3:57Speaker 2: and OpenAI.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And the staff members and students and faculty will all
- 4:02Speaker 2: have access to this, to really try and strengthen their,
- 4:06Speaker 2: their platforms, their services, their growing portfolio of um AI platforms, right?
- 4:11Speaker 2: And I think it's encouraging the, the use of AI
- 4:16Speaker 2: in an ethical way and in a good way, of course,
- 4:19Speaker 2: because this is specifically for their courses that, um, that
- 4:23Speaker 2: are applicable, you know, and that may be more relevant
- 4:26Speaker 2: for them.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And I think with Chat GBT EDU there's stronger privacy, security,
- 4:31Speaker 2: and administrative controls by the university. So, conversations and, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 2: other types of conversations and data within the NUS workspace,
- 4:40Speaker 2: they are not used to train open AI models. That's
- 4:44Speaker 2: what they're assuring. And I think the interesting thing is
- 4:47Speaker 2: for the freshmen, which means actually the students that just joined, right,
- 4:50Speaker 2: in case you're, you're unsure about university terms for now.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Um, they actually have to have a course. It's a
- 4:56Speaker 2: compulsory course for AI literacy before they even start their, their,
- 5:01Speaker 2: their courses with NUS.
- 5:03Speaker 2: So times are really changing. If you are tuning in
- 5:06Speaker 2: right now and you are a university student, or, or
- 5:09Speaker 2: you're about to apply, or maybe you're just reminiscing on
- 5:12Speaker 2: your uni days back then, yeah, things are really different now,
- 5:16Speaker 2: but it's kind of a pretty exciting chapter for our
- 5:19Speaker 2: friends over at NUS. I do want to give a
- 5:21Speaker 2: big shout out to a couple of people who have
- 5:22Speaker 2: sent me messages this a.m. because you are taking your
- 5:26Speaker 2: PSLE oral exams.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Examinations just before we get to, uh, we get to
- 5:29Speaker 2: our phone lines and I think I'm gonna say hi
- 5:32Speaker 2: over here to Cici. You said, good morning, Sonia. Thank
- 5:36Speaker 2: you so much for the shout out. Uh, my siblings
- 5:38Speaker 2: are taking, uh, my sibling is taking the PSLE oral
- 5:42Speaker 2: exam this week and I just want to say good
- 5:45Speaker 2: luck to everyone out there. I've been through it already
- 5:47Speaker 2: and um sometimes it's not easy, especially Mandarin.
- 5:51Speaker 2: OK, I get you. 100% understand. Also, you didn't leave
- 5:54Speaker 2: your name here, but I think you go by the
- 5:56Speaker 2: initial of Jay. You say, good morning, Sonia. I want
- 5:59Speaker 2: to give a big shout out to my daughter who
- 6:01Speaker 2: is taking PSLE oral this week as well.
- 6:04Speaker 2: All the best, my friends. Um, I know this might
- 6:06Speaker 2: be a stressful time for you, but we're here to
- 6:08Speaker 2: help ease your stress as much as we can, OK?
- 6:11Speaker 2: So we're gonna head to the phone lines now. Hello. Hi. Hi,
- 6:15Speaker 2: who's this? Hi, you remember me? Zara. Zara, Zara, nice
- 6:21Speaker 2: to hear from you. Which school are you from? MGM.
- 6:24Speaker 2: What song can I get you this morning? Animal Cats. OK,
- 6:27Speaker 2: I got you. And who is it going out to,
- 6:29Speaker 2: my dear? Everybody knows. Everybody taking PSL.
- 6:34Speaker 2: OK, gotcha. And all the best for your PSLE oral
- 6:37Speaker 2: exams this week, OK? Thank you. Yeah, you're gonna kill it.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You're gonna get an A.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Have a good day guys. Coming up in just a
- 6:46Speaker 2: few minutes. Now, when you buy a secondhand luxury item,
- 6:50Speaker 2: which I'm sure if you're tuning in, you might have
- 6:52Speaker 2: done before. I mean, I certainly have, especially when I
- 6:55Speaker 2: go to Japan, it's so cool.
- 6:58Speaker 2: to see the kind of collections they have there because
- 7:00Speaker 2: vintage shopping is huge for them, right? But even here
- 7:03Speaker 2: in Singapore, even though we're still trying to get there
- 7:06Speaker 2: in terms of luxury vintage shopping, there are quite a
- 7:09Speaker 2: few sites and links and popular places that you can
- 7:13Speaker 2: search for secondhand items. And even so, I think on
- 7:17Speaker 2: your usual reseller platforms, people do resell their luxury items, right?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Although sometimes I do get a bit curious, what's the
- 7:25Speaker 2: origin of this particular bag or this watch or you know,
- 7:30Speaker 2: just this item in general, especially if you're spending quite
- 7:33Speaker 2: a bit of money on it. In a, in a
- 7:34Speaker 2: few minutes, you're gonna hear one of the most bizarre
- 7:38Speaker 2: stories about a secondhand item being bought by this lady
- 7:42Speaker 2: and her finding out where this designer bag actually came from.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Don't worry, it's nothing supernatural or weird or creepy because I,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I admit, sometimes I do wonder about that, like, I
- 7:55Speaker 2: don't know whether I watched too many horror movie trailers where,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you know, you go and buy some secondhand thing, then
- 8:00Speaker 2: there's a spirit inside or one of those things, right?
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, no, no, no, no, it's nothing like
- 8:05Speaker 2: that at all. I've, I've bought my fair share of
- 8:07Speaker 2: secondhand items and uh, and it's fine. But, you know, just,
- 8:12Speaker 2: just a random thought that crossed my mind.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So find out what this lady, what happened to this
- 8:16Speaker 2: particular lady in just a little bit. Before I get
- 8:19Speaker 2: to the story, I wanted to give a shout out
- 8:21Speaker 2: to A. You said, morning, Sonia. Today is my daughter,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Ray Ann's birthday. I hope I'm pronouncing the name right
- 8:28Speaker 2: based on the spelling. I want to wish her to
- 8:30Speaker 2: stay healthy, happy, and cheerful always. If you could play
- 8:34Speaker 2: a song later on, Blue by Yun.
- 8:37Speaker 2: She listens to 987 every morning and hopes that you
- 8:40Speaker 2: and Joakim can visit North Vista Secondary School very soon. Oh,
- 8:44Speaker 2: thank you, Ellen. Thank you so much. OK, I'll try
- 8:46Speaker 2: my best to slip that song in in a couple
- 8:48Speaker 2: of minutes, OK? When I, when I have a moment
- 8:51Speaker 2: and where there's um a blank space there, I will
- 8:55Speaker 2: slot it in for sure. I will try. But happy birthday, Rayyanne.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Hope you have a great one.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Taking you to Shanghai right now, where we're talking about
- 9:04Speaker 2: uh buying secondhand luxury items, OK? So here in Singapore,
- 9:07Speaker 2: I think it's growing. The vintage culture is growing here
- 9:10Speaker 2: in Singapore and there are more and more vintage shops
- 9:13Speaker 2: carrying luxury items at, you know, quite reasonable prices and
- 9:17Speaker 2: the demand is there for sure. So, for this lady
- 9:20Speaker 2: in Shanghai, she decided, oh, you know, I, I think
- 9:22Speaker 2: I'm gonna get this secondhand designer bag and it's um,
- 9:25Speaker 2: it's a Chanel, OK? So it looks pretty, very nice.
- 9:28Speaker 2: It's white in color.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And she decided, oh, she found this one online and
- 9:33Speaker 2: decided to purchase it.
- 9:35Speaker 2: It's a limited edition bag. And when she received it,
- 9:40Speaker 2: she realized, hold on, it's the same bag that had
- 9:43Speaker 2: gone missing from my own house, from her own house,
- 9:47Speaker 2: the year before. So, she walked into um the police station,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I think, holding the bag that she had just received
- 9:54Speaker 2: after buying it from this secondhand platform.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And she reported the case and said that this is
- 10:00Speaker 2: the one that was stolen from me. And the funny
- 10:02Speaker 2: thing was she had spent what, like close to $8000
- 10:07Speaker 2: on this designer bag in 2025, OK. She carried it
- 10:11Speaker 2: once and then she left it at the lobby entryway
- 10:14Speaker 2: by her front door.
- 10:16Speaker 2: More than 6 months later, she realized, hey, I haven't
- 10:18Speaker 2: seen this bag in a very long time. And she
- 10:20Speaker 2: searched and she searched and she couldn't find it, right? Um,
- 10:22Speaker 2: but lots of people had come in and out of
- 10:24Speaker 2: her home, including a home organizer, um, cleaners, and many
- 10:29Speaker 2: different types of stuff, but still,
- 10:31Speaker 2: She never suspected that the bag would have been stolen.
- 10:34Speaker 2: She would sometimes complain to her friends like, Oh, I
- 10:36Speaker 2: can't find it. The bag vanished into thin air. And
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think like her friends and maybe her family members
- 10:41Speaker 2: said like, you know, you've got so many bags and
- 10:43Speaker 2: you've got so much stuff. It's probably somewhere. You just
- 10:45Speaker 2: got to look harder. And you know what, that is
- 10:48Speaker 2: very real, OK, because for me, that is an issue. However,
- 10:51Speaker 2: if it's a Chanel bag, it will not go missing
- 10:54Speaker 2: under my nose just like that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Maybe, you know, those trinkets or like a necklace or bracelet,
- 11:00Speaker 2: sometimes these things go missing quite, quite easily if you
- 11:02Speaker 2: don't keep them properly. But anyway, um, one of her
- 11:06Speaker 2: friends got very curious and searched for the same model
- 11:09Speaker 2: online and the listing actually showed up. Everything matched the style,
- 11:13Speaker 2: the condition, how it looked, and it said that it
- 11:16Speaker 2: was bought in Japan. So finally they found it and
- 11:19Speaker 2: um they're still trying to prove, I think, as, as
- 11:22Speaker 2: of now, like who was the one that stole it.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's really difficult, but it was resold about 5 times,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you know, can you believe it? How crazy is that? Anyway,
- 11:31Speaker 2: moral of the story is, um, please make sure that
- 11:34Speaker 2: you look out for your items, especially things that mean
- 11:37Speaker 2: a lot to you. Make sure you keep them properly and,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you know, store them in a place where you can
- 11:42Speaker 2: see and it's, it's visible. So I think they're trying to, um,
- 11:46Speaker 2: definitely trying to deal with the person that stole this
- 11:48Speaker 2: right now and that the case is still developing. So
- 11:51Speaker 2: be very careful out there.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And make sure that the people that you let in
- 11:54Speaker 2: your home are the people that you can trust. It's
- 11:57Speaker 2: a short work and school week, right? So it's not, not,
- 11:59Speaker 2: not too bad. Hopefully, it's not so bad for you. Um,
- 12:03Speaker 2: I think this entire week too, Joakim and I will
- 12:05Speaker 2: be working on something pretty exciting with our friends over
- 12:08Speaker 2: at Uniqlo. I just wanted to give a bit, uh,
- 12:10Speaker 2: give them a big shout out because they've been so
- 12:12Speaker 2: supportive and in the local scene as well, you know,
- 12:14Speaker 2: they've been very, very, very supportive and a big presence
- 12:18Speaker 2: and who doesn't love.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Uniqlo, right? Like I'm literally wearing a Uniqlo t-shirt now
- 12:21Speaker 2: as we speak. They are launching um some new collections
- 12:26Speaker 2: very soon, so please keep a lookout for that and
- 12:29Speaker 2: come tomorrow, you will get to see some content from
- 12:32Speaker 2: both Joakim and myself where we will be showing you.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Um, how we put together certain fits for the next season,
- 12:38Speaker 2: and believe it or not, if you think about it,
- 12:42Speaker 2: we're already in the month of August, right? Before you
- 12:44Speaker 2: know it, the whole like fall winter collection's gonna drop already. Like,
- 12:47Speaker 2: that's just crazy. Time is flying by, I break my heart.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Hearts right here on 987. Thankfully, she's over that phase.
- 12:54Speaker 2: She's over the heartbreak. She's found the man of her dreams,
- 12:57Speaker 2: and I think they're so happy together. They're so gorgeous
- 13:00Speaker 2: and cute together. It's, yeah, it's sickening, you know, sometimes
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm like, ah, why are you guys so perfect? Stop.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Anyway, um, taking you over to, unfortunately, a mosque right now. Um,
- 13:11Speaker 2: it wasn't too long ago that someone was reportedly, well, was, uh,
- 13:15Speaker 2: reported to have stolen from a temple in Bedok. I
- 13:18Speaker 2: remember it was Bedok because I was telling Joakim that
- 13:21Speaker 2: it's very near my old school, Saint Anthony's. I, I
- 13:24Speaker 2: remember that. Um, for this particular mosque, though, the location
- 13:27Speaker 2: wasn't revealed in, in the news, but a 42 year
- 13:31Speaker 2: old employee of this particular mosque will be charged.
- 13:36Speaker 2: For allegedly misappropriating more than $14,000. That's a lot of
- 13:42Speaker 2: money from these donation boxes. Now, I, I think the
- 13:46Speaker 2: problem is when it comes to places of worship, you know, when,
- 13:50Speaker 2: where people are religious, they go there to, to pay respects.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The last thing you would think they're doing is stealing
- 13:56Speaker 2: the donation money, right? And I also feel this way because,
- 14:00Speaker 2: you know, when I go to church every Sunday, at
- 14:01Speaker 2: least I try to, I try to go every Sunday.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Um, there are donation boxes, right? However, usually if you're not,
- 14:08Speaker 2: if you're not, if you've never attended like um, a
- 14:11Speaker 2: Christian or a Catholic, I guess, service before, I'm not
- 14:14Speaker 2: sure how it's done in a Christian church, but for
- 14:16Speaker 2: Catholic churches, what they do is they um have assigned
- 14:19Speaker 2: people to go around to collect the money, the donations,
- 14:23Speaker 2: and then they lock it up in a box after.
- 14:25Speaker 2: So then I think only specific people can have access
- 14:28Speaker 2: to it. So it's very, very strict.
- 14:30Speaker 2: However, I'm not sure about certain other places with like
- 14:33Speaker 2: public donation boxes where you can just put it in
- 14:35Speaker 2: because yeah, there are such things, right? So, um, for
- 14:38Speaker 2: our friends over at the Singapore Police Force, they received
- 14:41Speaker 2: a report actually on the 16th of May, is it?
- 14:45Speaker 2: That's my wedding date, um, alleging that this man had
- 14:48Speaker 2: misappropriated the funds and um it was entrusted to him
- 14:52Speaker 2: because of his employment. So I think they might be
- 14:54Speaker 2: feeling a little bit betrayed now. Um, how can you
- 14:56Speaker 2: even trust easily anymore, right?
- 14:58Speaker 2: The offense, however, carries a maximum sentence of 15 years
- 15:02Speaker 2: in jail and a fine, by the way, so that
- 15:04Speaker 2: 140 definitely not worth it. Still a developing case, we'll
- 15:08Speaker 2: see what happens, but if you are in a position
- 15:11Speaker 2: of power sometimes where you have access to these things,
- 15:15Speaker 2: what was it that Spider-Man said? With great power comes
- 15:18Speaker 2: great responsibility. Was that Spider-Man? Don't kill me. Did I
- 15:21Speaker 2: get it right? Now, just yesterday, um, I found myself
- 15:24Speaker 2: having to go to the CBD area.
- 15:26Speaker 2: And I was reminded about this particular car park, OK,
- 15:29Speaker 2: because I ended up at this building again. And to
- 15:32Speaker 2: be very honest, I don't think it is like the
- 15:36Speaker 2: building's fault or like the designer's fault. Although, OK, OK,
- 15:41Speaker 2: I'm not sure. You, you, you let me know. OK,
- 15:43Speaker 2: you let me know. Um, this car park is Marina One, OK,
- 15:48Speaker 2: or is it called One Marina? Let me check.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Oh, is it called Marina One or one Marina? Um,
- 15:54Speaker 2: Marina One, OK, Marina One in the CBD area. Now,
- 15:57Speaker 2: I remember quite a while back, I had to go
- 16:00Speaker 2: there to meet someone, um, it's for a work meeting
- 16:03Speaker 2: and to collect something. So, from what I understand, there
- 16:06Speaker 2: are actually many, many lobbies, and the place is quite big.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So if you are unsure where to park, that is
- 16:13Speaker 2: the nearest to your location, there are many lobbies to,
- 16:17Speaker 2: to look for, OK. If I'm not wrong, this is
- 16:19Speaker 2: the same building.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Because there's this area called like Hearts at Marina One
- 16:23Speaker 2: and then there's Marina One, like the, the office blocks
- 16:26Speaker 2: and residential and all that. So, the previous time being
- 16:29Speaker 2: my first time going there, I thought I just go
- 16:31Speaker 2: and park and then I'll figure my way out, right?
- 16:34Speaker 2: Big mistake because the moment I went up, I walked
- 16:37Speaker 2: pretty far out that I didn't register where I parked.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I didn't take a photo, I didn't take a photo
- 16:42Speaker 2: of the lobby. So, after all that chaos, and I
- 16:45Speaker 2: finally was like, OK, I'm done for the day, I
- 16:46Speaker 2: went to look for my car, I think I took
- 16:48Speaker 2: like 30 minutes to locate my car.
- 16:53Speaker 2: To which, thank goodness, um, my EV has this app
- 16:57Speaker 2: where you can actually locate your vehicle, although it may
- 17:01Speaker 2: sometimes be a little bit wonky if you're underground, right,
- 17:04Speaker 2: because of my network and stuff. So it took me
- 17:05Speaker 2: quite some time, but I finally managed to, to locate it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: And yesterday when I, when I was told to go
- 17:11Speaker 2: back to this building, I was like, oh, no wonder
- 17:13Speaker 2: I have PTSD from parking here, that's why I never
- 17:15Speaker 2: came back here again.
- 17:17Speaker 2: But yeah, um, it's just one of those things where
- 17:19Speaker 2: like you really feel frustrated with yourself because I, I
- 17:22Speaker 2: felt like it was just, I don't know, it's just
- 17:24Speaker 2: my fault. Like I didn't take note of where I parked.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I should have taken a photo, so that it would
- 17:29Speaker 2: be easier, right, to know which lobby to come down
- 17:32Speaker 2: from exactly. Now, I'm not sure if you're something, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 2: you're like me, where sometimes you get just so frazzled,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you forget to take photos or you forget to register
- 17:40Speaker 2: where you've parked.
- 17:41Speaker 2: If I'm with people, then, you know, we can have
- 17:43Speaker 2: that shared responsibility, but most of the time I'm by myself. So, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 2: I have no one to blame but myself and sometimes
- 17:49Speaker 2: complicated car parks and complicated lift lobbies. So give me
- 17:53Speaker 2: a call, 669-11987 or drop me a message 90.
- 17:58Speaker 2: 050987. Have you ever found yourself in such situations where
- 18:02Speaker 2: you either got frazzled and you forgot which lift lobby
- 18:05Speaker 2: you came down from and you got lost, or maybe
- 18:08Speaker 2: you couldn't locate your car and you took forever to
- 18:10Speaker 2: just like walk around pressing the button, beeping, hoping that
- 18:14Speaker 2: you hear something, which is also what I did, by
- 18:16Speaker 2: the way, and it turns out I was not even
- 18:18Speaker 2: on the right floor, you see. So that's the problem
- 18:21Speaker 2: when they have like,
- 18:23Speaker 2: B2, B3, B4, like you really gotta remember which basement
- 18:26Speaker 2: area you parked at, which floor you parked at. Give
- 18:29Speaker 2: me a call 669-11987 or drop me a message. Have
- 18:32Speaker 2: you just ever gotten lost?
- 18:34Speaker 2: In a mall. I know it sounds so ridiculous to
- 18:36Speaker 2: get lost here in Singapore, but are you like me?
- 18:39Speaker 2: Have you found yourself in situations where you either couldn't
- 18:41Speaker 2: locate your vehicle or you just got completely lost looking
- 18:44Speaker 2: for a place? Let me know. And I was just
- 18:46Speaker 2: talking about how yesterday when I found myself in the
- 18:49Speaker 2: CBD area, um, it brought back a bit of PTSD
- 18:51Speaker 2: for this particular parking lot, and I, like I said,
- 18:54Speaker 2: I don't think it's entirely the fault of the design,
- 18:58Speaker 2: because I know, yeah, some malls and car parks can
- 19:00Speaker 2: be extremely complicated.
- 19:02Speaker 2: But I, I also should be taking note of where
- 19:05Speaker 2: I'm parking. It's just sometimes when you're rushing, you just park,
- 19:07Speaker 2: and then you sell, right? Then you're like, you never
- 19:09Speaker 2: register like what floor you even parked on, and especially
- 19:12Speaker 2: in places where there's B2 to B5 or I don't know,
- 19:15Speaker 2: however many floors there are, and.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Some are, you know, some are car parks for like
- 19:21Speaker 2: season parking or residents and the rest are for public
- 19:23Speaker 2: and it's just kind of hard to register sometimes when
- 19:26Speaker 2: you're in a rush. So I was talking about this
- 19:28Speaker 2: and asking if you've experienced the same thing because my
- 19:31Speaker 2: worst ever one was when I actually was at Marina One.
- 19:35Speaker 2: The previous time, and I didn't, you know, I didn't
- 19:38Speaker 2: take a photo of where I parked and the lift
- 19:40Speaker 2: lobby that I took, and in the end, I took
- 19:42Speaker 2: like 2030 minutes locating for my car, realizing, oh my gosh,
- 19:46Speaker 2: I wasn't even on the right floor in the first place. Uh,
- 19:50Speaker 2: but thankfully I recovered, I managed to find it.
- 19:52Speaker 2: So many messages coming through now and I have to say,
- 19:55Speaker 2: about 4 out of 6 messages that I received in
- 19:59Speaker 2: the 1st 5 minutes of opening up our phone lines
- 20:02Speaker 2: and channels, all pointing towards one place, Suntec parking lot.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, man. Like, my friends over at Suntec,
- 20:12Speaker 2: we love you guys and I go there pretty often.
- 20:14Speaker 2: In fact, when I was a kid, my parents used
- 20:16Speaker 2: to love going to Suntec, so, yeah, I'm familiar with
- 20:19Speaker 2: the place, but I just wanna give a big shout
- 20:21Speaker 2: out to a few people who are sending through some
- 20:23Speaker 2: messages for now, OK? Um, Ivana says, morning, Sonia. Suntec
- 20:27Speaker 2: parking lot. I was lost there a number of times.
- 20:30Speaker 2: One time,
- 20:32Speaker 2: I got the lobby right. I got the exit door right,
- 20:34Speaker 2: but I made the wrong turn. Instead of turning right,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I turned left and I wasted more than half an
- 20:40Speaker 2: hour looking for my car. I learned my lesson and
- 20:43Speaker 2: took a photo whenever I parked there, or brought more
- 20:46Speaker 2: people when I parked in Suntec. More people, more brains
- 20:49Speaker 2: to remember the parking location. You're so right. Um, tech
- 20:53Speaker 2: also sent me a message. TH, you said, hi, good morning, Sonia.
- 20:57Speaker 2: For me, it's Suntec City parking lot.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Same, like you, I did not take photos of the
- 21:04Speaker 2: place and also I didn't note the lobby that I
- 21:06Speaker 2: went out from, and I took nearly one hour looking
- 21:10Speaker 2: for my car. After I have dinner with my family,
- 21:12Speaker 2: I asked them to wait in the air-conditioned area until
- 21:15Speaker 2: I find it and then I sent them a message.
- 21:19Speaker 2: My gosh. OK. One more here. Um, OK, that is
- 21:22Speaker 2: not slamming Suntec right now. Someone here, you didn't quite, oh, Fred,
- 21:25Speaker 2: you said, morning, Sonia, totally relatable. Small car parks still OK.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Big car parks, I'll definitely have an issue, especially RWS.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Once I parked my car at Sentosa. I thought I
- 21:36Speaker 2: knew where I parked. I spent quite some time underground
- 21:39Speaker 2: trying to locate the car, like I literally walked the
- 21:42Speaker 2: entire area.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Ever since then, I will take a photo of the
- 21:45Speaker 2: area I parked at and note down the lot number
- 21:47Speaker 2: as well and what area. Well, yeah, sometimes it's helpful
- 21:50Speaker 2: if they have like a color or I think some
- 21:53Speaker 2: car parks have like an animal or some sort of
- 21:55Speaker 2: motif attached to it, right? So.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I'll take note of it now. Yeah, it can be
- 22:00Speaker 2: very frustrating. When we come back, we've got Janna on
- 22:03Speaker 2: the line and more of your messages. They're just coming
- 22:06Speaker 2: through right now. Keep calling me 669-11987. I would love
- 22:10Speaker 2: to hear from you in exchange, a buffet experience for two.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It is worth over $200 over at Peppermint. This is
- 22:18Speaker 2: by our lovely friends at Park Royal Collection at Marina Bay.
- 22:22Speaker 2: It is just beautiful, really can't wait for you to
- 22:25Speaker 2: try it. And it seems like this particular topic.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Just resonates with so many people. I don't feel so
- 22:30Speaker 2: alone anymore, to be honest. I'm talking about getting completely
- 22:34Speaker 2: lost while looking for your car at the car park
- 22:36Speaker 2: or just not taking note of where you've parked, especially
- 22:39Speaker 2: at places where there are many different levels, many different lobbies, like,
- 22:43Speaker 2: I tell you, some malls, right? There's lobby A to E,
- 22:45Speaker 2: you know, like how many lobbies do you need? I
- 22:48Speaker 2: am eternally confused and have sworn to just take a
- 22:51Speaker 2: photo ever since, especially since yesterday I went back to
- 22:54Speaker 2: a car park that I realized, eh,
- 22:56Speaker 2: Have I been here before? And I was struck with
- 22:58Speaker 2: some PTSD. I was like, oh, this was the place
- 23:01Speaker 2: that I got lost for like 30 minutes trying to
- 23:03Speaker 2: locate my car. I'm saying hi to Irfan, who dropped
- 23:06Speaker 2: me a message. Morning, Sonia and all tuning in. You're
- 23:09Speaker 2: not alone. I used to do delivery at the CBD
- 23:12Speaker 2: and Marina One is one of the car parks I
- 23:14Speaker 2: used to have a problem finding my van. AC, I'm
- 23:17Speaker 2: not alone.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Um, but as time goes by, you get the hang
- 23:19Speaker 2: of it. One of the car parks that I had
- 23:21Speaker 2: a problem with, and, uh, don't judge me, yeah, is
- 23:24Speaker 2: the airport. Jewel, if I'm not mistaken, I couldn't find
- 23:27Speaker 2: my car and I had to use the find your
- 23:30Speaker 2: car kiosk located at the lift lobby, but thank God
- 23:32Speaker 2: for that. If not, I would have spent the whole
- 23:34Speaker 2: day running through the car park. Have a good day, everyone.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Thank you for that. OK, uh, more messages coming through here. Wow,
- 23:41Speaker 2: a long one here from Steph actually who dropped me
- 23:43Speaker 2: a message saying,
- 23:45Speaker 2: Morning. Listening to your story reminded me of my friends
- 23:47Speaker 2: and I. We were at IKEA and maybe we were
- 23:50Speaker 2: too excited because it's been a while since we last went.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Each of us had something to pick up. So, after
- 23:56Speaker 2: checking out, we decided, you know what, we'll wait with
- 23:58Speaker 2: the trolley while the other two went to get the car.
- 24:00Speaker 2: And surprise, the car was not there. We walked through
- 24:04Speaker 2: the entire car park looking for it. I took one side,
- 24:07Speaker 2: my friend who is the owner of the car took
- 24:09Speaker 2: the other side. Nope, nothing. We couldn't find the car anywhere.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Meanwhile, the friend who was waiting with the trolley was
- 24:16Speaker 2: calling us, Where are you guys? We were literally walking
- 24:20Speaker 2: around the car park thinking we somehow lost the car
- 24:23Speaker 2: and we thought, OK, maybe we should check another level,
- 24:25Speaker 2: and there it was. Till today, I still don't know
- 24:28Speaker 2: how all three of us forgot which level we parked on.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Um, by the way, you, she also sent a video
- 24:35Speaker 2: of them looking for the car in 2022. That was
- 24:38Speaker 2: the year that they lost it. Oh, I'm supposing this
- 24:41Speaker 2: was like an IGS or something. How hilarious. You spent like, what,
- 24:44Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe 2030 minutes looking for it. Crazy
- 24:48Speaker 2: stories coming through that's just making me laugh and smile
- 24:50Speaker 2: right now. Janna is on the line. What about you?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Of course we always get lost at Suntech, so my
- 24:59Speaker 2: experience was at Utama in KL and.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Suntec but x 5 with like 3 different levels of
- 25:07Speaker 2: car parks, that's huge like different wings and it was
- 25:11Speaker 2: not me, it was my friend, and she, she did
- 25:14Speaker 2: not take note of where she parked and and you
- 25:17Speaker 2: didn't help her.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we tried to help her. We were like, can
- 25:22Speaker 2: you think? Where did you park? What did you see
- 25:24Speaker 2: when you went up the lobby? And we just had
- 25:27Speaker 2: to spend like 1 hour looking for the car in
- 25:29Speaker 2: the hot car park. That was like the worst experience ever. Wait,
- 25:33Speaker 2: I have to say, I'm with a group of friends,
- 25:35Speaker 2: I will delegate I'll be like, guys, OK, if there's
- 25:38Speaker 2: like 4 of us in this car, all of us
- 25:40Speaker 2: have to at least remember something, OK, like at least
- 25:43Speaker 2: remember the floor.
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, she parked the car by herself. We met her
- 25:48Speaker 2: at the, yeah, so that's why we couldn't help her.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I see, sorry, sorry, shouldn't have blamed you.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Oh.
- 25:56Speaker 2: After that, I made sure to take a photo of
- 25:59Speaker 2: wherever I parked every time because of this. Yeah, you
- 26:02Speaker 2: know what, you're right. It gives PTSD because it's so
- 26:05Speaker 2: much time wasted and sometimes I wonder like, oh my God,
- 26:08Speaker 2: what if I can't locate my car?
- 26:10Speaker 2: Like it's here. I know it's in this building, but
- 26:12Speaker 2: where is it? It's so frustrating, right? Yeah. Oh man.
- 26:16Speaker 2: It doesn't help that uh most car parks have terrible
- 26:18Speaker 2: ventilation as well. Yes, exactly. OK, I'm gonna get to
- 26:23Speaker 2: a couple more messages here that that really made me
- 26:25Speaker 2: laugh as well. We're talking about getting completely lost in
- 26:28Speaker 2: a car park when you forget where you park, you
- 26:30Speaker 2: didn't take a photo of like which floor you're at
- 26:33Speaker 2: or which lobby that you took the lift up from.
- 26:35Speaker 2: No, I, I really got concerned because yesterday I went
- 26:38Speaker 2: back to a place that I remember getting super lost
- 26:41Speaker 2: at previously when I, I think I walked for like
- 26:44Speaker 2: 2030 minutes and I found myself like, ah, how come
- 26:46Speaker 2: I'm at the same place again? Like what, what in
- 26:48Speaker 2: the inception is this? Like, you know, one of those moments, right?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Um, OK, saying hi here to A, you said, morning, Sonia.
- 26:56Speaker 2: For me, it would be my very own HDB multi-story
- 26:59Speaker 2: car park. What? I have the memory of a goldfish.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I always forget where I parked the day before. Hence,
- 27:05Speaker 2: I have to do a sweep floor by floor to
- 27:07Speaker 2: find my car. It would seriously irritate my family members,
- 27:10Speaker 2: especially if the car is located on the higher floors.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Why don't you just take a photo of the floor
- 27:15Speaker 2: next time? I mean, since you, since it's your house, right?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Like all the time.
- 27:20Speaker 2: OK, message here coming through from Andy. You said, Morning Sos.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I have a good habit of remembering where I park
- 27:27Speaker 2: in malls by first, remembering the first shop I see
- 27:31Speaker 2: upon entering for, uh, entering the mall. That indicates the lobby.
- 27:36Speaker 2: What I have trouble with is my own HDB car park,
- 27:40Speaker 2: same as the, the other guy just now. Once it
- 27:43Speaker 2: took me 10 minutes to find my car, OK, 10
- 27:45Speaker 2: minutes not so bad for me.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Um, at Marina One, it was 20 minutes or even
- 27:50Speaker 2: close to 30, but then again, this is your house, so.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I don't have an excuse for you when it comes
- 27:56Speaker 2: to that. OK, I've got like at least 10 more
- 27:59Speaker 2: messages coming through in just a bit. I'll try to
- 28:01Speaker 2: read out as many as I can. I'm just seeing
- 28:04Speaker 2: through all the hilarious stories coming through right now. I
- 28:07Speaker 2: was talking about my experience getting completely lost at the
- 28:10Speaker 2: Marina One car park. Um, yesterday was fine when I
- 28:13Speaker 2: went there, but going there reminded me of why I
- 28:16Speaker 2: didn't quite like going to that building.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Because of the multiple lift lobbies and the getting lost,
- 28:21Speaker 2: but like I said, I wasn't alert either, and I
- 28:23Speaker 2: didn't go and take photos of where or take note
- 28:25Speaker 2: of where exactly I parked and which lobby, what letter
- 28:28Speaker 2: that lobby was and all that, so complex sometimes, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 2: certain places, but it's also whether or not we have
- 28:34Speaker 2: the presence of mind in that moment to take note
- 28:37Speaker 2: of where we parked.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Anyway, saying hi to Jasmine, you said, hey, morning, Sonia.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So I had drinks and got tipsy while at a
- 28:45Speaker 2: mall with my friends. Stubborn and stupid me told them,
- 28:49Speaker 2: I'm fine and I'll go home on my own. I'll
- 28:51Speaker 2: find my way home, don't worry. We parted ways at
- 28:54Speaker 2: the restaurant.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I knew my way to the escalator, but I was
- 28:58Speaker 2: so wrong. The corridors just seemed never-ending with no escalator
- 29:02Speaker 2: and lift in sight. I made my way into a
- 29:05Speaker 2: toilet and sat at the cubicle to rest. Before I
- 29:08Speaker 2: knew it, I fell asleep and woke up when the
- 29:11Speaker 2: lights and air conditioning was switched off, yelled out at
- 29:14Speaker 2: the janitor, and finally managed to open inverted commas, escape
- 29:18Speaker 2: the mall and figure my way home.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Oh, no. Yeah, that's, that, that's pretty scary. Like, what
- 29:25Speaker 2: if they locked the mall up and they didn't even
- 29:28Speaker 2: realize that they were there, like that would have been.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Not great. I would not want to be in that situation. OK, um,
- 29:35Speaker 2: more messages coming through. In fact, I don't think I'll
- 29:37Speaker 2: be able to read out everything. You didn't quite leave
- 29:39Speaker 2: a name, but I think it could be Kate. You said, hey, Sonia,
- 29:44Speaker 2: once I walked out of Raffles City after dinner, I
- 29:47Speaker 2: clicked my key fob and I heard absolute silence. For
- 29:51Speaker 2: 30 agonizing minutes, I wandered up and down basement 3,
- 29:55Speaker 2: sweating profusely.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Manually checking every silver sedan that I saw and seriously
- 30:01Speaker 2: questioning my sanity. Finally, a security guard noticed me and
- 30:05Speaker 2: my mounting despair and offered to look up my license
- 30:08Speaker 2: plate on their system. He took one look at the screen,
- 30:11Speaker 2: gave me a very pitiful smile, and said, Miss, you're
- 30:15Speaker 2: on basement 3. Your car park is right, your car
- 30:18Speaker 2: is parked right next to the elevator on basement 2.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I had to take the escalator of shame up one
- 30:26Speaker 2: floor where my car was sitting right there in the open.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Right? That's what happened to me at Marina One. So
- 30:35Speaker 2: I was at a completely different, I was at a
- 30:37Speaker 2: completely different floor in lift lobby. So I feel you 100%.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I really do feel you. OK, um, I'm gonna take
- 30:44Speaker 2: a quick break after this one. You said, good morning, Sonia,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Jasmine here. I was out with my twins who were
- 30:49Speaker 2: about only 6 years old at Suntec City carpark again.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I really hope at this point, someone who's from Suntec
- 30:56Speaker 2: City Management is tuning in. Please send me a message
- 30:58Speaker 2: or drop me a call. Please, please, I beg you.
- 31:01Speaker 2: This would be so fun.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Anyway, you said, um, we looked out for our car
- 31:04Speaker 2: at B1, but we couldn't find it. Then I realized
- 31:07Speaker 2: after walking almost the entire floor that I parked at B2.
- 31:10Speaker 2: The same thing happened when we went to Disneyland in Orlando.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Now I need to make it a habit to take
- 31:16Speaker 2: a picture of where I parked. Absolutely. Honestly, such a
- 31:20Speaker 2: challenging day for me to pick a winner because so
- 31:23Speaker 2: many messages coming through and I didn't even manage to
- 31:26Speaker 2: read everything, every single thing up, right?
- 31:29Speaker 2: Out on air. Um, so I'm really sorry if I
- 31:31Speaker 2: didn't manage to read your message. I hope to at
- 31:34Speaker 2: least to reply you via text in just a bit.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But only one person can walk away with this lovely
- 31:40Speaker 2: experience here today, and we're talking a buffet for two
- 31:43Speaker 2: at Peppermint's at Park Royal Collection, Marina Bay. It's a
- 31:46Speaker 2: halal certified buffet restaurant to satisfy every appetite and craving
- 31:51Speaker 2: that you have. So, think grilled meats, freshly prepared seafood,
- 31:55Speaker 2: a generous selection of Asian international dishes, and for
- 31:59Speaker 2: During this time, starting from today to the 31st of October,
- 32:02Speaker 2: they are presenting their new buffet menu, Roast and Grill,
- 32:05Speaker 2: the Smoke and char collection. So it honors every tradition
- 32:09Speaker 2: of fire lit cooking, right? So think Jasper grilled prime proteins,
- 32:13Speaker 2: wok fried signatures, you know, you've got that wok hay,
- 32:16Speaker 2: you have clay pot dishes like fish maw and white
- 32:18Speaker 2: pepper chicken collagen soup. Oh, sounds so good.
- 32:21Speaker 2: And I think one of their signatures would be the
- 32:24Speaker 2: seafood and lobster Laksa Tower and not forgetting their dessert spread.
- 32:28Speaker 2: So please visit Park Royal Collection Marina Bay on Instagram
- 32:31Speaker 2: for more information. And today's winner is Janna. Congratulations, Jenna.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Like I said, very, very challenging for me to pick
- 32:41Speaker 2: a winner today and I'm so sorry if I didn't
- 32:44Speaker 2: manage to read your stories out because look, this really
- 32:48Speaker 2: struck a nerve. I think it really related with a
- 32:51Speaker 2: lot of us because getting lost and not remembering.
- 32:54Speaker 2: where you've parked or not just the car park in general,
- 32:56Speaker 2: some places have confusing lift lobbies to even locate how
- 33:00Speaker 2: to get to the train or your bus stop or
- 33:02Speaker 2: like to even exit the building can get very complex,
- 33:05Speaker 2: as we have read from some of our listeners' experiences earlier.
- 33:09Speaker 2: So I, I feel you, and it's precious time wasted,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and on top of that, you get frustrated, and then
- 33:15Speaker 2: you get, you, you start to wonder like, am I
- 33:18Speaker 2: tripping out? Like, am I dreaming? Why can't I, is
- 33:21Speaker 2: this Inception? What's going on?
- 33:23Speaker 2: To catch up with all your hilarious stories and, and
- 33:26Speaker 2: my story as well. It'll be on me Listen and
- 33:28Speaker 2: Spotify after the show. Now, like we just got through
- 33:32Speaker 2: a very big long weekend for us here in Singapore, right?
- 33:34Speaker 2: And I know, well, a lot of us, we, we
- 33:37Speaker 2: love having our own National Day parties and you know, we,
- 33:40Speaker 2: we want to stay here in Singapore for that and
- 33:42Speaker 2: just maybe stream the parade or do something that's related
- 33:45Speaker 2: to Singapore during that weekend, but
- 33:47Speaker 2: It also is an opportunity for people to travel, obviously, right?
- 33:50Speaker 2: I think at least, I don't know, half my friends
- 33:53Speaker 2: were out of town, either in Bangkok, Malaysia, you know, um,
- 33:57Speaker 2: different parts of Thailand, Indonesia, things like that. So, some
- 34:00Speaker 2: stats here, there were some large crowds going into JB
- 34:04Speaker 2: from Singapore over the long weekend, but the usual hotspots
- 34:08Speaker 2: that Singaporeans typically visit for, you know, food, drinks and
- 34:12Speaker 2: all that.
- 34:13Speaker 2: They reported less than expected sales. They said despite the
- 34:17Speaker 2: crowds and and the hordes of Singaporeans going to JB
- 34:20Speaker 2: they're not seeing the same kind of sales anymore. Underwhelming
- 34:24Speaker 2: sales was, you know, what was quoted from this article, um.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Despite the long queues and congested traffic at the Causeway area,
- 34:32Speaker 2: it just didn't seem to translate into, into people buying
- 34:36Speaker 2: or eating at the usual places anymore. So I think
- 34:39Speaker 2: when some of these store owners were interviewed, uh, I
- 34:41Speaker 2: think there's a very famous bakery called Haphu Bakery, if
- 34:44Speaker 2: I'm not wrong. It's a tourist shop favorite. It's famous
- 34:47Speaker 2: for their banana cakes, and I've tried it before. When
- 34:50Speaker 2: I went there, I bought some.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Back to, um, an employee actually said, like, you know, typically,
- 34:55Speaker 2: during long weekends, especially Singapore's National Day, it will be
- 34:59Speaker 2: crowded with Singaporean tourists, long queues at the counter and
- 35:02Speaker 2: all that. Um, unfortunately, surprisingly, this year, it was not
- 35:06Speaker 2: the same, and they're saying, hey, I think tourists in
- 35:10Speaker 2: JB especially, and not just Johhor Bahru, but Johor is
- 35:13Speaker 2: so big, right?
- 35:15Speaker 2: They have more options now for shopping and dining. They
- 35:18Speaker 2: may not even be in JB specifically. They may be
- 35:21Speaker 2: in other parts of Johor now. Other types of shopping
- 35:24Speaker 2: malls or maybe even get out of central JB. Uh,
- 35:27Speaker 2: I believe there are other popular towns as well to
- 35:29Speaker 2: other cities and states, so maybe.
- 35:31Speaker 2: It's a case of Singaporeans just getting bored with the
- 35:34Speaker 2: same places that we've been used to, right? So that
- 35:37Speaker 2: could be a big reason. Um, another interesting stat is
- 35:40Speaker 2: that more visitors have been seen at temples and heritage spots.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I think, um, if I'm not wrong, the Buddhist and
- 35:49Speaker 2: Taoist temples in Batu Bahat, they drew way more tourists
- 35:53Speaker 2: than usual, and many of them were from Singapore.
- 35:56Speaker 2: And like I mentioned earlier, you know, as Singaporeans, we
- 35:58Speaker 2: love nostalgia and that's why we love the likes of
- 36:02Speaker 2: bands like 21, Big Bang, who's coming to Singapore. Fantastic. Now,
- 36:08Speaker 2: yesterday actually marked the launch of their concert tickets here
- 36:13Speaker 2: in Singapore. Big Bang Singapore happening very soon and the
- 36:16Speaker 2: first day of ticket sales really saw a surge. Over
- 36:20Speaker 2: 300,000 people in line on the first day. Can you,
- 36:24Speaker 2: can you imagine that? It's crazy.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I think a big fan actually shared a screenshot of
- 36:28Speaker 2: a queue number and said that it was like insane.
- 36:31Speaker 2: The sheer demand for these tickets, I think, um, various
- 36:35Speaker 2: fan groups showed that their queue numbers exceeded 500,000 as
- 36:38Speaker 2: well at some point. So Tuesday's ticket sale is limited
- 36:42Speaker 2: to fans who hold an official VIP membership on the
- 36:45Speaker 2: BSage platform and they completed a whole survey to participate
- 36:48Speaker 2: in the session. However, um, some fans are saying that
- 36:51Speaker 2: they joined the queue without fulfilling the requirements, which could,
- 36:55Speaker 2: you know, have had the potential to make the numbers
- 36:56Speaker 2: even more, right? So I'm really curious how, um,
- 37:00Speaker 2: How things worked. I think there was a lot of
- 37:03Speaker 2: anxiety over getting tickets and all that. So, the tickets
- 37:07Speaker 2: for yesterday's pre-sale sold out at about 3 p.m. More
- 37:10Speaker 2: tickets will be available this week, not to worry. I
- 37:12Speaker 2: think our friends over at Ticketmaster are trying to keep
- 37:15Speaker 2: things under control right now.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Uh, it's crazy because uh these tickets are priced between 158,
- 37:20Speaker 2: which is OK, quite reasonable, to 498. I mean, some concerts,
- 37:25Speaker 2: you know, concert ticket prices vary, right? This one seems
- 37:29Speaker 2: pretty OK compared to some other concerts that we've seen,
- 37:32Speaker 2: but this is their first performance in Singapore in a decade.
- 37:36Speaker 2: So I think that's one of the reasons why the
- 37:38Speaker 2: demand is just so insane. Um, 2016 was their.
- 37:44Speaker 2: VIP made VIP fan meeting tour. So this is going
- 37:47Speaker 2: to be a big one for them. I mean, I
- 37:48Speaker 2: personally don't mind catching the show, although, uh, I don't
- 37:52Speaker 2: know all their work. I just know they're popular ones,
- 37:55Speaker 2: and I've had the pleasure of meeting, uh, actually, I
- 37:58Speaker 2: met quite a few of them before, I think, I
- 38:01Speaker 2: think I met at least 3 of them before, if
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm not wrong, um, Top and G Dragon being 22
- 38:07Speaker 2: of them too, and, uh, Tay Young, Tay Young, I
- 38:10Speaker 2: think I might have seen him in passing at an
- 38:11Speaker 2: event or something like that.
- 38:13Speaker 2: But watching them perform, no, I've never done that. So
- 38:16Speaker 2: here's hoping that there will be some more spare tickets.
- 38:18Speaker 2: But something about it reminds me of like Tomorrowland. Take
- 38:20Speaker 2: me back. I just saw that um our friends at
- 38:23Speaker 2: Tomorrowland have posted a few more destinations actually that they're going.
- 38:27Speaker 2: You know, the end of this year, they're going to
- 38:29Speaker 2: be in Thailand. Apparently next year, they've announced places like Ibiza,
- 38:32Speaker 2: it's going to be in their list as well. If
- 38:34Speaker 2: I'm not wrong, Vegas might be in the works too.
- 38:38Speaker 2: So, it'll be really interesting to see how it translates,
- 38:41Speaker 2: but from what I understand from friends who have been
- 38:44Speaker 2: to more than one Tomorrowland, or they've been to like
- 38:46Speaker 2: maybe the winter version, they say, oh, the winter version
- 38:48Speaker 2: is really cool too, but nothing can beat Belgium. It's
- 38:52Speaker 2: still the OG.
- 38:54Speaker 2: So, uh, that's still yet to be determined, I would say.
- 38:57Speaker 2: I think you still have to give some of these
- 39:00Speaker 2: other countries some time to, to develop it and see
- 39:03Speaker 2: where it goes. But of course, nothing ever beats the OG.
- 39:06Speaker 2: We get it, for sure, 100%. I understand. Like when
- 39:09Speaker 2: I went there, I don't think I even explored like
- 39:12Speaker 2: a quarter of the place, which means I need to
- 39:14Speaker 2: go back again, at least 2 more times to be
- 39:16Speaker 2: able to complete the whole thing.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Uh, one of my friends who's been there at least
- 39:20Speaker 2: 3 times said only on the 3rd time did she
- 39:24Speaker 2: confidently say, yes, I have explored every single area. So,
- 39:29Speaker 2: that's what it is. Anyway, coming up in just a bit, sorry,
- 39:31Speaker 2: I digressed after hearing that, that Baby Rexer track that
- 39:34Speaker 2: I love. Some food news to make you drool. Time
- 39:37Speaker 2: for some food news. I want to give a big
- 39:39Speaker 2: shout out to this pair of Korean siblings. They are
- 39:43Speaker 2: the epitome of the hustle culture, I will say, and
- 39:46Speaker 2: they've done so well for themselves.
- 39:48Speaker 2: At the same time, also helping their family.
- 39:51Speaker 2: After clearing their parents' 5000 debt, they decided to open
- 39:57Speaker 2: another barbecue restaurant. It's called Soul and Go. They actually
- 40:02Speaker 2: took over their parents' struggling K barbecue Seoul restaurant, um,
- 40:05Speaker 2: out of necessity. They worked like seven days a week,
- 40:08Speaker 2: no break to clear off $500,000 worth of debt in
- 40:11Speaker 2: a year, and they actually shocked everyone by taking another
- 40:14Speaker 2: $500,000 loan to launch their own upscale diner at National Gallery.
- 40:19Speaker 2: So, really good location, I'll have to say. Um, they
- 40:22Speaker 2: go from, they went from being in survival mode to
- 40:25Speaker 2: like running their very own place. I think that's really impressive.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Just FYI, um, the K barbecue spot was actually at
- 40:31Speaker 2: Conrad Singapore Orchard opened by their parents in 2013, and
- 40:35Speaker 2: I've actually been there once. Um, I didn't make a,
- 40:38Speaker 2: I didn't say anything about it, but I went there
- 40:40Speaker 2: and it was so legit. I loved it so much.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I was introduced to that place by a friend who
- 40:45Speaker 2: said a lot of Koreans like going there.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Uh, now, when he took over in 2024, it was,
- 40:49Speaker 2: it was a struggle, right? And you know, FNB is
- 40:52Speaker 2: really not easy. So I think that's why they shocked
- 40:55Speaker 2: everyone by opening yet another one. it's called Soul and Soul,
- 40:59Speaker 2: Soul and Soul.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I believe, or was it, is there a typo here?
- 41:03Speaker 2: I thought it was sold and gold initially. Anyway, um,
- 41:06Speaker 2: this is over at National Gallery Singapore. Um, and they said,
- 41:11Speaker 2: you know, at first they wanted to do it out
- 41:13Speaker 2: of passion, out of duty, um, because they've already gone
- 41:17Speaker 2: so far in terms of like F&B, right? But they decided,
- 41:20Speaker 2: you know what, long term, what do we want out
- 41:23Speaker 2: of this? Do we really, really want to go back
- 41:25Speaker 2: into F&B? Do we want to continue to, to grow
- 41:28Speaker 2: it and all that?
- 41:30Speaker 2: So they decided, yeah, you know what, what's next? Let's
- 41:33Speaker 2: get it. Even though there's a lot of anxiety and
- 41:35Speaker 2: what feels like deja vu and they've been there before, objectively,
- 41:38Speaker 2: they're in a better position, I think. Um, they actually have,
- 41:43Speaker 2: have learned a lot from the previous, uh, from the
- 41:45Speaker 2: previous business already. And I was right, it's called Soul
- 41:48Speaker 2: and soul. There's no typo in there.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I literally thought I read Seoul and Go at one point. Anyway,
- 41:54Speaker 2: the meats are grilled by their staff in the open kitchen.
- 41:57Speaker 2: They've got 8 charcoal grill stations. It looks beautiful, very minimalist,
- 42:02Speaker 2: very zen. I see some cold noodles as well. Oh,
- 42:05Speaker 2: I love that so much. So if you want a
- 42:08Speaker 2: full rundown and photos, our friends over at 8 Days
- 42:10Speaker 2: Eat have you covered. Please go check it out and enjoy.
- 42:14Speaker 2: You're gonna drool looking at all these photos that are, wow, beautiful.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Um, please go check them out, National Gallery level 5,
- 42:22Speaker 2: and they're open daily for lunch and dinner. Don't forget
- 42:26Speaker 2: to show your support.
