Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Kracking power play. Lord.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the k Postgame Show, brought to you by
- 0:06Speaker 2: Toyota of Olympia.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Now for an in depth look at your Kraken Hockey.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's the post game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
- 0:14Speaker 2: Audio Network.
- 0:16Speaker 4: We're back inside of Climate Pledge Arena. Ever it fits you,
- 0:20Speaker 4: Al Kaniski alongside the Seattle Cracket, wrapping up a four
- 0:24Speaker 4: to one win over the New York Islanders partner the
- 0:28Speaker 4: Kraken allowing the game's first goal for the seventh time
- 0:32Speaker 4: in their last eight games. However, that's the only goal
- 0:36Speaker 4: they would have allowed they have allowed.
- 0:38Speaker 1: They then scored four more to win this one. For one.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Well, I think the pressure of having a good start
- 0:43Speaker 5: was evident to coming into this game for the Kraken
- 0:46Speaker 5: and giving up that first goal angers you a little bit,
- 0:49Speaker 5: and I was happy to see them battle back and
- 0:51Speaker 5: get that Tian goal in the first period to leave
- 0:54Speaker 5: the first frame tied up at one.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I think that fed into it for sure.
- 0:56Speaker 4: We've talked a lot in recent games about the the
- 1:00Speaker 4: he starts for Seattle, and you said it best. I
- 1:03Speaker 4: wouldn't call this a bad start, even though they were
- 1:06Speaker 4: down a goal.
- 1:07Speaker 1: A lot of penalties.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Kakan had three penalties in the first six oh seven
- 1:12Speaker 4: of the hockey game, so they were able to kill
- 1:15Speaker 4: off two of those three penalties. So not necessarily a
- 1:18Speaker 4: bad start for Seattle, but again, they surrendered the game's
- 1:21Speaker 4: first goal.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah, power play goals on both sides for each team.
- 1:24Speaker 5: So you know, you gave up a power play goal
- 1:26Speaker 5: taking those three penalties, but you also drew two penalties
- 1:29Speaker 5: to put yourself in a position to get a goal
- 1:32Speaker 5: back on the power play. That's exactly what they did
- 1:33Speaker 5: on that Maddy Veneer's goal.
- 1:35Speaker 4: You look at the goal scorers tonight for the Seattle Kraken,
- 1:38Speaker 4: Matt Emaneers, Vince Donn, Kapolcaco and Jared McCann. Lane Lambert
- 1:43Speaker 4: telling us the fourth line has been doing wonderful in
- 1:46Speaker 4: the last couple of weeks, but you need to see
- 1:48Speaker 4: more offense generated from your top three lines. We've said
- 1:52Speaker 4: it before, your best players have to be your best players.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Four goals tonight from members of your top six to
- 1:58Speaker 4: forward group, your.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Top pier defense. Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 5: I always say that when you're into stretches where you
- 2:03Speaker 5: know you're having success, everybody's contributing. Everybody's you know, playing
- 2:08Speaker 5: a part in offense, playing a part in defense. But
- 2:10Speaker 5: when you go through tough areas, you really need your
- 2:12Speaker 5: big names to have big games, and they did that tonight. Obviously,
- 2:16Speaker 5: the power play goal by Maddie was huge. The other
- 2:17Speaker 5: guys you mentioned Done Coppococo, but even Philip Grubauer having
- 2:21Speaker 5: himself a game tonight as well. He's absolutely one of
- 2:24Speaker 5: those big names.
- 2:25Speaker 4: But also Shocker, Ryan Winters and Ben Myers assisting on
- 2:29Speaker 4: the Vet's done.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Goal in the second period.
- 2:31Speaker 4: So the four flying continuing to find ways to generate
- 2:34Speaker 4: offense and lead by example on the ice. Philip Grubauer,
- 2:38Speaker 4: we've talked about the goaltending starts in the last handful
- 2:42Speaker 4: of games, and you and I and Mike Benton were
- 2:44Speaker 4: on Cracking Weekly earlier this week, saying that even though
- 2:48Speaker 4: you know you're counting on these guys to be your
- 2:51Speaker 4: best player night in, night out, it's sometimes is unfair
- 2:54Speaker 4: to ask these Philip Grubauer, Joey the Cord to have
- 2:57Speaker 4: to consistently turn out Patrick Lobby and type performances in
- 3:03Speaker 4: order to give their teams.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Patrick coach, yes, nice tie.
- 3:09Speaker 4: But Philip Grubauer, he needed a quote unquote and bounce
- 3:12Speaker 4: back performance.
- 3:13Speaker 5: And they got one here tonight. Yeah, I thought so too.
- 3:15Speaker 5: He was very square to the puck all night. There
- 3:17Speaker 5: was the one leaker there in the in the second period,
- 3:19Speaker 5: I think it was, but it didn't get behind him
- 3:21Speaker 5: and got to the side of him. He got it
- 3:23Speaker 5: cleared quickly, but he was attacking the puck when the
- 3:25Speaker 5: opportunity presented himself, whether it was with his stick or
- 3:28Speaker 5: a poke check.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I thought he is. He was really dialed in tonight.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Finally al for me.
- 3:33Speaker 4: You know, last one physicality picked up in this game.
- 3:36Speaker 4: The Crack had ended up out hitting the Islanders by
- 3:38Speaker 4: a fifteen to seven margin. It was a pretty clean
- 3:43Speaker 4: game for Seattle thirteen giveaways to eight for the Islanders,
- 3:47Speaker 4: no worse for where Seattle only the.
- 3:49Speaker 1: One goal allowed.
- 3:49Speaker 4: But I felt like tonight there weren't as many areas
- 3:53Speaker 4: to clean up maybe as there have been in the last.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Handful of games.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Well no, And when you look at the hits column,
- 3:58Speaker 5: like you said, fifteen in total, but the person with
- 4:00Speaker 5: the most individual hits was Ryan Winterton with three. So
- 4:04Speaker 5: you know that fourth line role where regardless of who's
- 4:06Speaker 5: on that line, tend to have more hits than other
- 4:09Speaker 5: guys on the other parts of the of the roster,
- 4:12Speaker 5: just because you know that's your role there. You know
- 4:14Speaker 5: you need to grind and he's dumped the pocket you
- 4:16Speaker 5: need to for check hard and Ryan Winterton leading with
- 4:19Speaker 5: three hits to night of the fifteen, was doing just not.
- 4:21Speaker 4: So four to one win for the Seattle Crack and
- 4:24Speaker 4: we'll step out one more time come back with Jayden
- 4:27Speaker 4: Schwartz and more after this on the Global Credit Union

- 7:41Speaker 4: in four to one winners here tonight as we await
- 7:44Speaker 4: the arrival of Jayden Schwartz.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Let's go over to you Al for your takeaways and
- 7:48Speaker 1: your three stars.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Yeah key takeaways tonight brought to you by Mama Kay.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Shooting urgency was number one. I thought the cracking out
- 7:54Speaker 5: shooting the Islanders in both the first and second period
- 7:57Speaker 5: was huge and definitely played into the success they were having.
- 8:01Speaker 5: It was a clean second period. Two goals for the Kraken,
- 8:04Speaker 5: zero for the Islanders. Again, second periods has been an
- 8:07Speaker 5: area of opportunity that it was excellent tonight. And my
- 8:10Speaker 5: third takeaway was Grubauer's game himself nine to six. Oh
- 8:13Speaker 5: save percentage, stopping twenty four of twenty five getting it
- 8:16Speaker 5: done between the pipes. Three stars tonight brought to you
- 8:19Speaker 5: by Triple A of Washington. Matty Beniers was your third star.
- 8:23Speaker 5: He had a goal. It was the powerplay goal, that
- 8:25Speaker 5: first goal of the period that tied things up. He
- 8:27Speaker 5: was plus one to night. Had five shots on goals,
- 8:29Speaker 5: so firing the puck as well see above shooting urgency.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Second Star of the night went to Philip Grubauer. He
- 8:35Speaker 5: had a nine six oh save percentage, stopping twenty four
- 8:38Speaker 5: of twenty five. He had also won assist tonight, so
- 8:41Speaker 5: big game for him. And then your number one star
- 8:43Speaker 5: goes to Vince Dunn. He had a goal and one assist.
- 8:46Speaker 5: He was plus one tonight. Cracking fans. If you don't
- 8:49Speaker 5: have Triple A, what are you doing?
- 8:52Speaker 11: Do it?
- 8:52Speaker 5: You don't get you don't get roadside rescues, plus discounts

- 9:08Speaker 5: safer when they're driving out at night when they do
- 9:11Speaker 5: road trips, go call me called Triple A.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Think Mama fits bought my Triple A, got me my
- 9:15Speaker 1: Triple A card when I was like sixteen years old.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Rolling through the halls of Pioneer High School. Back up
- 9:20Speaker 4: in Anarburt, Michigan. We'll wait a couple more minutes here
- 9:24Speaker 4: for Jayden Schwartz.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Schre we go. Yeah, so right now the crack in
- 9:28Speaker 1: our home for six in a row.
- 9:29Speaker 4: He'll be home against Anaheim coming up this Friday, Jersey
- 9:33Speaker 4: on Sunday. We'll see the Caps and the Leaves coming
- 9:36Speaker 4: up on Tuesday, Thursday of next week. So plenty of
- 9:38Speaker 4: opportunity for Seattle to wrap up, rack up some points.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Here at home.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Then you have a fun three game road trip down
- 9:44Speaker 4: south out to Vegas, Anaheim at LA before the Olympic break.
- 9:48Speaker 1: To the locker room. We go.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Jayden Schwartz standing by assisted on Coppo Cocko's goal back
- 9:52Speaker 4: in the second period.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Jayden, thanks for joining us here tonight.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Man a great game, the cracking and get back in
- 9:57Speaker 4: the win column, back in a playoff spot.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Just take us through your thoughts on this performance through sixty.
- 10:02Speaker 9: Yeah, it was a harder, harder and win for us.
- 10:05Speaker 9: They're they're good team. They check hard and that did
- 10:08Speaker 9: a good job all the way through. The p K
- 10:10Speaker 9: was busy tonight. We did a good job. Grooby was
- 10:12Speaker 9: amazing as usual, and yeah, guys were laying it on
- 10:16Speaker 9: the line tonight, played hard and you know, different different
- 10:19Speaker 9: contributions from everyone, and uh, just a good team win
- 10:22Speaker 9: all around, Jade.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Obviously getting a good start tonight was important for the guys,
- 10:27Speaker 5: Like giving up that first goal once again tonight, but
- 10:29Speaker 5: you tied it before the end of the first period.
- 10:31Speaker 5: What was the mindset? What was the locker room talk
- 10:34Speaker 5: going into this one about having a good start.
- 10:36Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, yeah, we obviously want to get off
- 10:39Speaker 9: the fast starts.
- 10:40Speaker 12: Uh.
- 10:40Speaker 9: That was a weird first period, just so many penalties
- 10:42Speaker 9: and some guys you know, probably didn't get any has much.
- 10:45Speaker 9: But uh, the five on three was a big boost
- 10:47Speaker 9: for us. Like I said, the p K, uh kept
- 10:50Speaker 9: it at one nothing, and yeah, I just had to
- 10:54Speaker 9: keep building. We knew we'd get to our game five
- 10:55Speaker 9: on five, you know, controlling the puck in their end
- 10:58Speaker 9: and tiring and you know, tiring them out a little
- 11:02Speaker 9: bit and using our legs.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And I thought we did a good job.
- 11:04Speaker 4: You've missed nineteen games this year due to injury, and
- 11:06Speaker 4: I think the injury bugs going around the locker room
- 11:09Speaker 4: to a number of guys, how do you feel where
- 11:11Speaker 4: are you at with your game this season given all
- 11:14Speaker 4: the time that you've missed, but still being able to
- 11:16Speaker 4: contribute offensively now up to seventeen points on the season.
- 11:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean it sucks being out, you know, that's
- 11:24Speaker 9: the nature of the you know, the business though it
- 11:26Speaker 9: sometimes you get unlucky breaks and you know, different guys
- 11:30Speaker 9: got to step up. There's been different injuries throughout the season,
- 11:33Speaker 9: so you know, I'm getting there. You know, felt like
- 11:35Speaker 9: I was out a long time, so I just gotta
- 11:37Speaker 9: get my legs. You know, they felt pretty good, but
- 11:41Speaker 9: you know when you're out that long, it takes a
- 11:42Speaker 9: little bit to get the timing and the speed.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And uh just feel good every night. But it's getting there, Jade.
- 11:48Speaker 5: And you've got four more here at home before you
- 11:49Speaker 5: go on the road for three and then obviously that
- 11:51Speaker 5: there's that big Olympic break. Are you looking at it
- 11:54Speaker 5: from that standpoint? Is it game to game or do
- 11:56Speaker 5: you want to try and rack up as many points
- 11:58Speaker 5: you as you can hear, not only before the break,
- 12:00Speaker 5: but while you've got four here at home.
- 12:02Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a big stretch for us here. You know,
- 12:05Speaker 9: these points are big and we're just taking it one
- 12:07Speaker 9: day at a time. That's all you can do is
- 12:09Speaker 9: just prepare and get ready. But you know everyone hosts
- 12:12Speaker 9: how close to Stanning's, are a throughout the leak, So
- 12:13Speaker 9: they're all they're all important, and we've got to make
- 12:15Speaker 9: sure we're you know, ready to go each and every
- 12:18Speaker 9: night and make sure we're getting our game.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Well, hey, Jayden, congrats on your ninth assists of the
- 12:23Speaker 4: season here tonight.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Congrats on the big win. We'll talk to you down
- 12:26Speaker 1: the road, all right.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Thanks Cracking forward Jayden Schwartz following tonight's FO to one
- 12:30Speaker 4: win over the Islanders. I always love talking to Jaden Schwartz,
- 12:33Speaker 4: so calm, so measured. I mean, you talk about a
- 12:35Speaker 4: pros pro. He's a pros pro.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know what you mentioned time on ice
- 12:39Speaker 5: some guys just didn't get as much. I'm looking at
- 12:41Speaker 5: that now. Jared mccannon fifteen thirty seven, that's the guy
- 12:43Speaker 5: that plays power play and when there when there were
- 12:45Speaker 5: as many power play opportunities as they had tonight, Yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 5: you would have expected to see that higher, but you
- 12:50Speaker 5: also have to kill a bunch of penalties as well.
- 12:52Speaker 4: That does it here for us, after a four to
- 12:54Speaker 4: one crack and win over the Islanders. Across the street,
- 12:58Speaker 4: we go to Tom's watch Bar, Mike Benton standing by
- 13:02Speaker 4: to take you the rest of the way.

- 13:07Speaker 13: screens glory and yet you know it's a big nun
- 13:09Speaker 13: a national TV when you see Bowie and Paul Bissonett

- 13:18Speaker 13: here for tonight in there win over the Islanders, the
- 13:20Speaker 13: four game winless skid is gone, and Philip Grubauer again
- 13:24Speaker 13: bringing more of the a game from what we have
- 13:26Speaker 13: seen this season, which gives a cracking eight fan shuts.

- 18:21Speaker 13: first period courtesy and Anthony deuclear power play goal coming
- 18:25Speaker 13: at two thirty eight. He got his twelfth goal of
- 18:27Speaker 13: the season, set up by Colin Ritchie and Matt Barzel

- 18:40Speaker 13: toward the front of the net to make matters happen?
- 18:42Speaker 8: Offensively down low, foreverly.
- 18:44Speaker 19: Back to McCann for a one timer hit'll deflective, it's done.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It's done.
- 18:56Speaker 19: A point shot or shot of the high slot ends
- 18:59Speaker 19: up all right. Sir Hokin and the Seattle Kraken take
- 19:03Speaker 19: a tie this game at one with nine twenty to play.
- 19:07Speaker 5: In this first period, a lot of intention to shoot
- 19:09Speaker 5: them puck on the five on three McCann with a
- 19:12Speaker 5: couple opportunities. It was the last one and he puts
- 19:15Speaker 5: off the scroke and Stroker makes the save on it,
- 19:17Speaker 5: but the rebound goes right out to Done in the slot.
- 19:20Speaker 1: He put it off the post and end this game's
- 19:22Speaker 1: tied and one.
- 19:23Speaker 13: That's how Manny Bneers is helping generate offense lately, getting
- 19:26Speaker 13: into the dirty areas, as they say, right toward the
- 19:29Speaker 13: front of the net. And he gets his eleventh goal
- 19:31Speaker 13: of the season courtesy Vince Dunn and Jared McCann on
- 19:34Speaker 13: the five on three goal at ten forty and the
- 19:37Speaker 13: Kraken ending up end of the intermission with a one
- 19:40Speaker 13: to one tie. That was huge as far as finding
- 19:43Speaker 13: some balance where the first periods recently have been a
- 19:46Speaker 13: bit rocky. Into period two, off the rush for the Kraken,
- 19:51Speaker 13: who gets it done right.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Here Matthew Barzel lost the handle, Winter Ti out to
- 19:56Speaker 4: bet Myers three on two for Seattle.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Here's Winter Ti Stone.
- 20:09Speaker 19: I've broken three on two for the kracking Vince stun

- 20:16Speaker 19: the Seattle cracket take the lead two.
- 20:19Speaker 1: On six, twenty three left in the second for.
- 20:22Speaker 5: This break under the Cracking end of the ice was
- 20:24Speaker 5: late in the ship. Ben Myers, trying to buy some
- 20:26Speaker 5: time in the blue line, cuts hard to his left,
- 20:28Speaker 5: puts it over the far side to Winterton, who's got
- 20:31Speaker 5: nothing but a lane to go to the net.
- 20:33Speaker 1: He puts it back to Done Dune's got an open cage,
- 20:36Speaker 1: puts it home. Two to one, Cracking, and.
- 20:39Speaker 13: That giving Vince Done his seventh goal of the season,
- 20:42Speaker 13: also hitting a milestone where he becomes the first defenseman
- 20:45Speaker 13: in Cracking history to have fifty goals with the franchise.
- 20:49Speaker 13: Done seventh courtesy Ryan Winterton and Ben Myers. It was
- 20:53Speaker 13: a thing of beauty. Myers, by the way, picking up
- 20:56Speaker 13: his third point last two games, and that gave the
- 20:58Speaker 13: Kracking a two to one lead at thirteen thirty seven.
- 21:01Speaker 13: More to come a little past a sixteen minute mark
- 21:05Speaker 13: courtesy Coppocco.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Four seconds left on a crack and power play Schwartz
- 21:09Speaker 1: Coppo Coco sco.
- 21:19Speaker 19: Coppo Cocko, fresh off the bench into the right circle,
- 21:23Speaker 19: snaps it in by Aliaserokin the crack.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And a three to one lead. Three thirty two left.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Hit period number two, well, some great four checking by
- 21:33Speaker 5: Jayden Schwartz goes behind the Islander.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Nick comes out with that pocket.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Asian said Copo Cocko coming off a shift, he comes
- 21:40Speaker 5: right down the slot, presents a stick.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Schwartz puts it on there.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Coppo Coco puts it home three one tracking well.
- 21:49Speaker 8: Not a power play goal, but a power play influence goal.
- 21:52Speaker 13: If Jayden Schwartz wins his battle and set up Coco
- 21:54Speaker 13: to make a three to one is sixteen twenty eight,
- 21:57Speaker 13: Coco's fifth of the year courtesy Jayden swar to have
- 22:00Speaker 13: the only assists on the play as well. Into period three.
- 22:05Speaker 13: The Kraken would eventually wrap things up courtesy Jared McCann
- 22:09Speaker 13: is eleventh goal of the year, coming at sixteen thirty
- 22:11Speaker 13: two from Brandon Montor and for good measure, goaltender Philip
- 22:15Speaker 13: Grubauer as the Kracking breaking out of the four game
- 22:18Speaker 13: winless skid in a four to one victory over the Islanders.
- 22:23Speaker 13: Your final shots on net even at twenty five apiece.
- 22:26Speaker 13: A lot of penalties here in this game. The krackn
- 22:28Speaker 13: goal one of four on the power play, the Islanders
- 22:32Speaker 13: finishing one of seven in this game as well, and
- 22:35Speaker 13: Philip Grubauer is certainly earning this victory.
- 22:38Speaker 8: Twenty four saves on twenty.
- 22:40Speaker 13: Five shots, a loss to Ilia Sorocan in net twenty
- 22:44Speaker 13: one saves on twenty four shots and Grubauer's record improving
- 22:48Speaker 13: to ten to four and three. Sorocan with a loss
- 22:51Speaker 13: is now sixteen to twelve and two on the season.

- 23:15Speaker 13: to make his mark on this game?
- 23:16Speaker 4: Ryan Pullock pulls it off the boards, gets it out
- 23:19Speaker 4: to center into the offensive zone.
- 23:21Speaker 19: Sazekis a backhand.
- 23:23Speaker 1: On what the same by Philip Krubauer.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Puck popped up and he batted it out of the
- 23:28Speaker 5: air with his stick out to neutral zone.
- 23:30Speaker 13: He only phase five shots in period three, but that
- 23:32Speaker 13: one of the more difficult of the variety he faced
- 23:34Speaker 13: here in this game, and Philip Greenbauer simply put gave
- 23:38Speaker 13: the krack in a ton of confidence with his positioning
- 23:41Speaker 13: and his athleticism. He was dialed in for much of
- 23:43Speaker 13: this evening, a big reason why he got his first win.
- 23:46Speaker 13: Sends the Ranger win back at MSG on January twelfth,
- 23:51Speaker 13: and then it was up to Jared mccannon and tried
- 23:54Speaker 13: to wrap things up this evening.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Seattle from the near corner, sliding it all the way
- 23:59Speaker 4: out of the ice.
- 24:00Speaker 1: This is the aff you not tear the cat following s.
- 24:10Speaker 19: The puck from the left corner of the ear side,
- 24:14Speaker 19: flip down the ice, tear the cab, plays the carab
- 24:18Speaker 19: off the end boards and the cracket.
- 24:20Speaker 1: We'll seal this one.
- 24:21Speaker 19: It's a four to one read with three twenty eight
- 24:25Speaker 19: to play in the period.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Well design played by the sale of Cracking, knowing that
- 24:28Speaker 5: if they clear the pucket, New York gets back first,
- 24:31Speaker 5: it's gonna be an icing call. But Jared mccannon's anticipating
- 24:34Speaker 5: that clear, goes hard to the far blue line, stays
- 24:37Speaker 5: on side, gets to the puck first, then getting the
- 24:41Speaker 5: icing puts it in.
- 24:42Speaker 1: The back of the debt four to one cracket.
- 24:44Speaker 8: Sixth time.
- 24:45Speaker 13: The Cracking half hit four goals in the game since
- 24:48Speaker 13: New Year's Day, and it is their first time, by
- 24:50Speaker 13: the way, that they have been for since that win
- 24:53Speaker 13: against the New York Rangers. So the cracking and theory
- 24:55Speaker 13: hit the magic number here for to night in the
- 24:57Speaker 13: four one win over the Island. Time now for the
- 25:01Speaker 13: big win brought to you by the Evergreen Council on
- 25:03Speaker 13: Problem Gambling. And down to the wire they went in Utah,
- 25:07Speaker 13: between the Flyers and the Mammoth. Here comes Dylan Gutter
- 25:11Speaker 13: two on one for Utah and overtime Gunther stops.
- 25:14Speaker 8: He's got coloring, Fanny's gone are you kidding me?
- 25:17Speaker 19: One and them Titan Keller ties it in the last
- 25:21Speaker 19: thirty five seconds and then he wins it in overtime.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Absolute heartbreak for the Flyers.
- 25:28Speaker 8: Game they should have won and it gets away.
- 25:31Speaker 13: And the Kraken could have used help on that end,
- 25:33Speaker 13: as that call pretty much summed up well as far
- 25:36Speaker 13: as the story from Tim Saunders on Flyers Radio courtesy
- 25:39Speaker 13: ninety seven to five the Fanatic, the Flyers leading for
- 25:42Speaker 13: two end of two periods not enough, Utah coming back
- 25:46Speaker 13: with a pair of goals in the final seven to
- 25:48Speaker 13: thirteen of regulation. Clayton Keller tied it with thirty five
- 25:52Speaker 13: seconds left and then ended it on his two goal
- 25:55Speaker 13: night in overtime, the Mammoth coming back to beat the
- 25:58Speaker 13: Flyers five to four in sudden depth overtime. They have
- 26:02Speaker 13: one for in a row and now holding a three

- 36:31Speaker 13: tell us who made the biggest impression with you this
- 36:34Speaker 13: evening in this four to one Kraken win over the Islanders.
- 36:37Speaker 13: Of the Kraken nearly sixty percent through the season, are
- 36:42Speaker 13: still a playoff team?
- 36:43Speaker 8: Four nine four five one, Hey, Cracking fans.
- 36:46Speaker 13: By the way, the ice might be cold with the
- 36:48Speaker 13: energy here at Tom's Washbar is electric just steps from
- 36:52Speaker 13: Climate Pledgerina Tom's Washbar. All the sports, all the time
- 36:56Speaker 13: again four nine four or five one On the Tacoma

- 37:02Speaker 13: of thirty eighth and south to comb away the intersection
- 37:05Speaker 13: of savings. Say, let's talk about savings once again. First off,
- 37:09Speaker 13: Philip Grubauer front and center. Twenty four saves on twenty
- 37:12Speaker 13: five shots out. That was a game stuff we saw.
- 37:15Speaker 13: That was the kins to Philip Grubauer in the past
- 37:17Speaker 13: ten games. Before the Utah game.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Well, and we talked about it in the pregame a
- 37:21Speaker 5: little bit, just about the starts that the Kraken have
- 37:23Speaker 5: been having and they haven't been.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Very good as of laid.
- 37:26Speaker 5: And you know what's the secret sauce for the crack
- 37:28Speaker 5: and having good starts and ultimately going over the top
- 37:31Speaker 5: to win hockey games. And a big piece of that
- 37:33Speaker 5: recipe is goaltending. These goaltenders have to keep the goals
- 37:37Speaker 5: against three or less to put themselves and when I
- 37:40Speaker 5: see themselves the Kraken in a position to win hockey games. Tonight,
- 37:44Speaker 5: Grubauer keeps the goals against to one, has the same
- 37:47Speaker 5: percentage of nine to six, oh, stopping twenty four of
- 37:49Speaker 5: twenty five.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Not only did they keep it below three, he kept.
- 37:52Speaker 5: It at one, giving his team a really good opportunity
- 37:55Speaker 5: to win this hockey game.
- 37:56Speaker 1: They only need two to do it.
- 37:57Speaker 13: See here's where I think it makes the biggest difference
- 38:00Speaker 13: for me, is you measure the goal he gave up
- 38:03Speaker 13: versus other shots that he had to face, say at
- 38:06Speaker 13: five on five, and he faced a few toughies as
- 38:09Speaker 13: well at five on five here for tonight. But I
- 38:11Speaker 13: mean the Islanders, the only one that they got by
- 38:14Speaker 13: him was onto the stick of a red hot Anthony
- 38:16Speaker 13: du Claire.
- 38:16Speaker 8: And what even his stick either, He was using Casey's
- 38:19Speaker 8: Azekis stick.
- 38:20Speaker 13: We covered this back in pregame it I mean, I mean,
- 38:23Speaker 13: that's a crazy story, but I mean do Claire's red
- 38:25Speaker 13: hot that's the only goal that gets by him, and
- 38:28Speaker 13: after that he just shuts it down for the rest
- 38:30Speaker 13: of the entire evening.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Well, that's just it too.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Like if you're gonna give up one goal, which is
- 38:34Speaker 5: a great achievement in an NHL hockey game. Well, a
- 38:37Speaker 5: power play goal. You know, you can't hurt, you can't,
- 38:39Speaker 5: you can't help, but do that once in a while.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Obviously you're gonna see a lot more pucks. You're gonna
- 38:43Speaker 5: see screens and deflections. And that was a heck of
- 38:46Speaker 5: a shot by Deuclaire. So I give Gruby a full
- 38:49Speaker 5: points tonight on his game.
- 38:51Speaker 13: Four nine four or five one again Texas right now
- 38:54Speaker 13: with your reaction, we have some reaction as well coming
- 38:57Speaker 13: on here via Twitter and actually can find me by
- 39:00Speaker 13: by the way at Benton Underscore Mike. I thought for
- 39:04Speaker 13: me tonight al that for the Kraken to find their
- 39:07Speaker 13: way to success, I was looking at, of course, the
- 39:11Speaker 13: two most magical words. I think in the last roughly
- 39:13Speaker 13: five games, good starts and we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll go ahead,
- 39:17Speaker 13: we'll go ahead and define that in just a bit. Secondly,
- 39:20Speaker 13: I think for me it was a special teams battling.
- 39:23Speaker 13: Did they ever get a few kicks in the cant
- 39:25Speaker 13: here for this sevening? But then I think for me
- 39:28Speaker 13: the big question here, we're the top three lines going
- 39:32Speaker 13: and we'll dive into more of all of this year
- 39:33Speaker 13: and just a bit, but I want to go back
- 39:36Speaker 13: and define the good start because you take a penalty early.
- 39:40Speaker 13: Freddy Goodreau goes off for hooking at two nineteen and
- 39:42Speaker 13: you're thinking, oh no, here we go again, and Declai
- 39:45Speaker 13: gets when you're thinking, oh no, here we go again.
- 39:48Speaker 13: And then Ryan Lindgren and Brandon Montur find their way
- 39:51Speaker 13: into the box and make it eventually five on three,
- 39:53Speaker 13: but the Kraken get out of dodge on that and
- 39:56Speaker 13: right before the Maddy Benier's goal. As far as Johnson
- 40:00Speaker 13: neet here for this evening at five on three, it
- 40:04Speaker 13: looks like that from what we saw, it was just
- 40:06Speaker 13: one that our bigger part in five on three.
- 40:09Speaker 8: The Islanders had nothing that was a big key.
- 40:11Speaker 13: The Islanders had nothing as far as the statue and
- 40:14Speaker 13: as far as what that statue he told us as well,
- 40:16Speaker 13: and that help, I think call matters down a bit
- 40:19Speaker 13: here on the crack inside. Eventually you had to figure
- 40:21Speaker 13: that the penalties were going to be coming, and they did,
- 40:24Speaker 13: and then Manny Beniers goes right at the front of
- 40:26Speaker 13: the net to make things happen.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, it's a it's an Islander power play
- 40:30Speaker 5: sixteen twenty seventh in the league, so you know, bottom
- 40:34Speaker 5: ten of the league. But on any given night, anybody
- 40:37Speaker 5: can put bucks in a net, and if you give
- 40:38Speaker 5: teams enough opportunities, they're going to do it. So obviously
- 40:41Speaker 5: that to Claire one was a oh, here we go again.
- 40:44Speaker 5: But we talked to Jaden Schwartz after the game tonight
- 40:47Speaker 5: and I asked him about, you know, the bench and
- 40:50Speaker 5: in the in the in the locker room after the
- 40:51Speaker 5: first period, and they had to know they had to
- 40:54Speaker 5: have a good start coming into this game. And yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 5: I wouldn't classify it as a good start. I would
- 40:59Speaker 5: classified as a better start, meaning they gave up that
- 41:02Speaker 5: first goal that's not good, but they battled back to
- 41:05Speaker 5: get it tied after the first period, so a better start,
- 41:08Speaker 5: and you can that's something you can build from.
- 41:09Speaker 13: It's funny because this team actually is last in the
- 41:14Speaker 13: NHL as far as the amount of games where they
- 41:16Speaker 13: lead after one period of play. And it's almost kind
- 41:19Speaker 13: of like they have the persona of an eighteen wheeler
- 41:22Speaker 13: and they are super slow getting out of the driveway,
- 41:25Speaker 13: but once they get on then and they get rolling
- 41:28Speaker 13: right down the highway. Yep, look out here. So I
- 41:31Speaker 13: mean I think in that in that canse in that case.
- 41:34Speaker 13: The way I frame this is that if you can
- 41:36Speaker 13: get out of period one tied at one, then fine,
- 41:40Speaker 13: because they've shown habits over and over to make the
- 41:42Speaker 13: adjustments necessary here. Any coach will tell you, Guys will
- 41:46Speaker 13: tell you Lane Lambert will likely tell you that, yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 13: you want a better start, you want to score the
- 41:51Speaker 13: first goal of the game, But they have found ways
- 41:54Speaker 13: to make adjustments where the second period then, especially for tonight,
- 41:58Speaker 13: then they find adjustment and then take off.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 5: And I think that part of that big rig roll,
- 42:04Speaker 5: and if you will metaphor is there was shooting urgency
- 42:08Speaker 5: that you could see a little bit more urgency with
- 42:11Speaker 5: putting pucks to the net.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Tonight.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Maddy Benier's himself had five shots on goal, the cracking
- 42:15Speaker 5: out shooting the Islanders ten to nine in the first period,
- 42:18Speaker 5: twelve to nine in the second period. So over those
- 42:21Speaker 5: first two periods putting more pucks than that. The penalty
- 42:24Speaker 5: kill was excellent, stopping six of seven. The power play
- 42:27Speaker 5: was good, again, not great, but good, one for four
- 42:29Speaker 5: on the night. But that second period was also clean.
- 42:32Speaker 5: So after you get out of that first period and
- 42:35Speaker 5: you want to obviously win it. You want top a
- 42:36Speaker 5: good start the next challenges. Can you be clean in
- 42:39Speaker 5: the second because we know these second periods can be
- 42:41Speaker 5: a challenge for any team, but the Kracken have struggled
- 42:44Speaker 5: with them as of late. That long change effects things.
- 42:47Speaker 5: They had a clean second period, scoring two goals and
- 42:49Speaker 5: not giving up any while also having a perfect penalty killed,
- 42:54Speaker 5: going two for two.
- 42:55Speaker 8: What'd you make out of the Ben Meyers line.
- 42:57Speaker 5: I thought they were effective again tonight. You know, last
- 43:00Speaker 5: game it was Schwartz on that on that fourth line.
- 43:02Speaker 5: I liked that combination. Schwartz has a lot to offer
- 43:06Speaker 5: that the team, both defensively and offensively. But I thought
- 43:10Speaker 5: at least for that one game, having him there with
- 43:12Speaker 5: Ben Myers, you know, anytime you can get that that
- 43:16Speaker 5: leadership around youth and or around players that are trying
- 43:19Speaker 5: to stay with the team, trying to break into the NHL,
- 43:22Speaker 5: I think that's good. And tonight it was Winterton, Myers
- 43:26Speaker 5: and Goodrow on that fourth line.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I thought they were excellent.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Ben Myers, who who had an assist on the done goal,
- 43:33Speaker 5: hit the post once and you could hear that ping
- 43:36Speaker 5: through the entire arena, So he's got the shot. Winterton
- 43:39Speaker 5: and I talked about this on the broadcast. When he
- 43:42Speaker 5: figures out how fast he is, he's gonna go next level.
- 43:45Speaker 5: And by next level, I mean third line, second line.
- 43:48Speaker 5: I don't think he realizes how fast of a skater
- 43:51Speaker 5: he is. Well, I love that.
- 43:52Speaker 13: I love how you brought that point up, because there
- 43:54Speaker 13: were a couple of ships tonight, not just him setting
- 43:57Speaker 13: up Ben's done off the rush, but I even go
- 43:59Speaker 13: back period one and how that line was able to
- 44:02Speaker 13: hem the Islanders in go about roughly forty five fifty seconds,
- 44:07Speaker 13: and he was able to control the puck.
- 44:10Speaker 8: Like a magnet.
- 44:10Speaker 13: And it's not just a speed I think of Winterton,
- 44:13Speaker 13: but it's also the confidence and how he is playing
- 44:17Speaker 13: with the puck. He is making key decisions that to
- 44:20Speaker 13: me says he is taking the next step as an
- 44:23Speaker 13: NHL forward. He told us this morning that he's a
- 44:26Speaker 13: lot more confident. But I mean, could this be where
- 44:29Speaker 13: we're seeing guys like him and also Berkeley Catton scratching
- 44:34Speaker 13: a little more of the surface here from this evening?
- 44:36Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 44:36Speaker 5: Absolutely, I mean it was that done goal that was
- 44:38Speaker 5: started by Ben Myers. That's where your first comment came
- 44:41Speaker 5: from but he got it up to Winterton, And in
- 44:44Speaker 5: that case it wasn't so much of a speed skill
- 44:46Speaker 5: thing that Winterton showed up. But if you watch the replay,
- 44:49Speaker 5: watch him real slow. He sells the shot before he
- 44:52Speaker 5: passes it to Doune, And when you sell the shot
- 44:54Speaker 5: as a goaltender, you have to respect that shot. It
- 44:57Speaker 5: freezes broken enough so that when Entertin feeds dot puck
- 45:01Speaker 5: over to Don Dunn has enough space down that left
- 45:03Speaker 5: hand side of the net to put the pucket. If
- 45:05Speaker 5: he doesn't sell that shot, if he doesn't fake it,
- 45:08Speaker 5: maybe Sroken gets over a little bit faster, maybe he
- 45:10Speaker 5: makes the same. So pretty elite play there by Winterton.
- 45:13Speaker 5: But a great feed to start that goal by Ben Myers.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 13: By the way, I wanted to point out that Ben Myers,
- 45:19Speaker 13: back at the AHL level for the season, had thirteen
- 45:23Speaker 13: points in eleven games. Winterington has not seen a sniff
- 45:28Speaker 13: of AHL Coachella Valley all dared to say, I think
- 45:31Speaker 13: they're gonna be here for quite a while.
- 45:34Speaker 5: They seem to be earning themselves spots. I mean, you know,
- 45:36Speaker 5: it's it's it's been Winterton, Myers, Gudrou's been there for
- 45:40Speaker 5: a little while. Malanson, who we talked about a lot.
- 45:43Speaker 5: He's back in Coachella now, but I got I got
- 45:45Speaker 5: a sneaky feeling we're gonna see him back sooner than later. Yeah,
- 45:49Speaker 5: So you know, while he's down there, he'll continue to develop.
- 45:52Speaker 5: But the fourth line is gonna be an absolute key
- 45:56Speaker 5: ingredient for this team going anywhere into the postseason.
- 46:00Speaker 8: Four to one Kraken beat the Islanders.
- 46:02Speaker 13: We are live at Tom's watchbar again, four nine four
- 46:04Speaker 13: or five one Texas right now on the on the
- 46:07Speaker 13: Tacoma Dodge text line. Who made the biggest impression with
- 46:10Speaker 13: you here for this evening again? Four nine four or
- 46:13Speaker 13: five won the cracking, getting goals from Matty Beniers, Vince
- 46:16Speaker 13: Don Coppococo an empty net goal as well from Jared McCann.
- 46:20Speaker 13: I wanted to dive into Berkeley cat in a little
- 46:22Speaker 13: bit more near al and he didn't score tonight. Had
- 46:25Speaker 13: also one shot on net, three shot attempts in a
- 46:28Speaker 13: twenty three. I wouldn't let time on ice fool you.
- 46:32Speaker 13: As far as the preference of putting him out there,
- 46:35Speaker 13: number one, he was deployed out there to begin the
- 46:38Speaker 13: game with Chandler Stevenson aka second line duty aka a
- 46:44Speaker 13: nineteen year old forward as of right now on a
- 46:47Speaker 13: playoff team getting second line duty. But it was the
- 46:50Speaker 13: plays he made that made us at press Road, just
- 46:54Speaker 13: sitting below you and Everett go, oh my gosh, I
- 46:59Speaker 13: think the dangly we had back in period one. And
- 47:01Speaker 13: then another confidence boosting play he made back in period two.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Yeah, you and I looked at each other on one
- 47:06Speaker 5: of those plays and it was it was a feed
- 47:08Speaker 5: down to Ellie tolven And where Ellie Tolvenan just had
- 47:11Speaker 5: to slice at the puck, which changes the direction of
- 47:14Speaker 5: the puck, keeps the pete puck moving, but changes the
- 47:16Speaker 5: angle where it can often fool a goaltender.
- 47:18Speaker 1: But it's not so much.
- 47:20Speaker 5: The pass that Berkeley made to Ellie Tolvenin. It was
- 47:23Speaker 5: how he got set up showing so much confidence inside
- 47:26Speaker 5: the offensive blue line. He was shifty, he made a
- 47:29Speaker 5: couple of moves and then that pass opened up to
- 47:31Speaker 5: Tolvenin and boom, it was down there Tovenah with a redirect,
- 47:34Speaker 5: great scoring opportunity. I bet you he sets up a
- 47:37Speaker 5: lot of goals like that in the future.
- 47:38Speaker 13: I want to be very careful as far as making comparisons,
- 47:42Speaker 13: and you don't want to put undue pressure on a
- 47:45Speaker 13: nineteen year.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Old, yeh, then don't do it.
- 47:48Speaker 8: But I couldn't help.
- 47:49Speaker 13: But over here when I heard a colleague mention the
- 47:52Speaker 13: potential for him jack Hughes light or Jack Hughes territory,
- 47:58Speaker 13: not at the Jack Hughes level up. The size that
- 48:01Speaker 13: he has and the plays that he can make. He's
- 48:04Speaker 13: got a long way to go, but we're seeing something
- 48:07Speaker 13: maybe very very close to breaking through. That's pretty special
- 48:10Speaker 13: right now in this forward co Yeah.
- 48:12Speaker 5: I mean with any player, Mike, it's it's that combination
- 48:15Speaker 5: of having the skills, which he does, coupled with the confidence,
- 48:19Speaker 5: and when you pair those two things together and you
- 48:22Speaker 5: can execute on it, there's there's no stealing for you.
- 48:24Speaker 5: And Berkeley Cotton definitely has the skills and he's starting
- 48:28Speaker 5: to get the confidence again.
- 48:29Speaker 13: Four nine, four or five when we're gonna hear from
- 48:31Speaker 13: Lane Lambert back down to the room very soon. But
- 48:33Speaker 13: we're gonna get to some reaction right now. Uh four
- 48:36Speaker 13: to two five saying everyone on special team stood down
- 48:39Speaker 13: to me. The penalty kill wasn't letter perfect, but killing
- 48:42Speaker 13: six of them great. Could have used more power play goals,
- 48:45Speaker 13: but I'll take Upniar's power play goal any day, and
- 48:49Speaker 13: no shorthanded goals.
- 48:50Speaker 8: Give it up tonight.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Broke the streak.
- 48:54Speaker 13: Check that box two oh six saying we need Malansen back,
- 48:58Speaker 13: but this is the best that we have. What Devers
- 49:01Speaker 13: sends that he was setting down, just left the game,
- 49:04Speaker 13: and the Kraken to me never looked in danger that
- 49:07Speaker 13: from the two oho six.
- 49:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean again, these are the problems you start
- 49:10Speaker 5: to run into when you've got a fully healthy roster.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Is you know, who do you keep? Who do you
- 49:15Speaker 5: send down? And it's not because Malonson was playing bad.
- 49:18Speaker 5: You're just into a number situation where you can only
- 49:21Speaker 5: keep twenty three guys on your roster with everybody healthy.
- 49:25Speaker 5: Other than Matt Murray, no one's on the IR, so
- 49:28Speaker 5: you're limited with the number of skaters you have. And
- 49:31Speaker 5: I think it's one healthy scratch or one injury before
- 49:34Speaker 5: you see Jacob Mallonson back up in a cracking jersey.
- 49:37Speaker 13: I think the rosters were expanding and we're just kind
- 49:39Speaker 13: of using this as like a what if. I mean,
- 49:41Speaker 13: you're definitely seeing Malanson back up here there. There is
- 49:44Speaker 13: no question he's given that line identity. When he's been
- 49:48Speaker 13: up here, he's had I mean, for what it's worth,
- 49:50Speaker 13: the national media talking about him and how much he
- 49:55Speaker 13: has given this team and identity, and then I get
- 49:57Speaker 13: to the you know the part where I say last,
- 49:59Speaker 13: but certain not least. Yep, he has given as well
- 50:03Speaker 13: this team an impression of what they can be with
- 50:07Speaker 13: him in the lineup. Jared McCann has said, he gives
- 50:10Speaker 13: an energy and energy can be a very very infectious.
- 50:15Speaker 5: Thing, absolutely, Ken. I mean, you see a guy doing
- 50:18Speaker 5: that out there, you want to go and do it.
- 50:19Speaker 5: If you're align made of his you feel stronger as
- 50:22Speaker 5: a three man unit than one individually. It feeds to
- 50:25Speaker 5: the other lines as well. They start playing harder, so
- 50:28Speaker 5: it can absolutely be as you said, infectious for the
- 50:31Speaker 5: rest of the team and push things in a positive way.
- 50:33Speaker 13: Again, who made the biggest impression for you this evening,
- 50:36Speaker 13: Texas right now? Four nine four five one on the
- 50:39Speaker 13: Tacoma Dodge text line again four nine four five one.
- 50:43Speaker 13: We're getting a more reaction here lie the Tom's watch
- 50:45Speaker 13: bar right across from Climate Pledge arena as the Kraken
- 50:49Speaker 13: knock off the New York Islanders for one reaction from
- 50:52Speaker 13: head coach Lane Lambert coming up right around the corner
- 50:55Speaker 13: right here on Tucking Kraken on ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 51:01Speaker 2: If you've got to come in about tonight's Kreking game,
- 51:04Speaker 2: make sure we hear about it. Just text us at
- 51:07Speaker 2: four nine, four five one. Now back to Tucking Kraken
- 51:10Speaker 2: with Mike Benton on Sports Radio ninety three point three
- 51:14Speaker 2: kJ r FM.
- 51:16Speaker 13: Again right back here at Tom's washbar live right across
- 51:19Speaker 13: from Fimon pledgerina as a crack and knockout the Islanders
- 51:22Speaker 13: for one who's played meant the most to you here
- 51:25Speaker 13: in tonight's when we get a reaction here from Rick Saint,
- 51:28Speaker 13: Ben Myers always in the fray, rob saying Grubauer, Ryan
- 51:32Speaker 13: Winterton as well, Kevin saying Philip Grubauer his game all night.
- 51:36Speaker 13: Tyler's saying, well, guess soo Philip Grubauer continuing to prove
- 51:39Speaker 13: he is the best goalie this season. Plus Winterton and
- 51:43Speaker 13: Myers driving the offense here, Drew Saint Vince Dunn as well.
- 51:48Speaker 9: Uh.
- 51:48Speaker 13: Those are just among the many of reactions here and
- 51:50Speaker 13: Greenbauer coming in entering this game, by the way, tied
- 51:55Speaker 13: for second best for say, percentage in the NHL at
- 51:58Speaker 13: nine to one, seven may tick up a little bit
- 52:01Speaker 13: here after. Yeah, today he turns in a twenty four
- 52:04Speaker 13: save effort on twenty five shots.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Yeah, he had a great game tonight. I would probably
- 52:08Speaker 5: throw Jaden Schwartz into that mix. I thought the play
- 52:11Speaker 5: he made from behind the net when he fed Coppo
- 52:13Speaker 5: Coco in front, it was a great read to lift
- 52:16Speaker 5: the stick of I think with Scotty Mayfield to grab
- 52:19Speaker 5: that pocket and then obviously getting Coco coming off the
- 52:22Speaker 5: bench right down the slot. Big play by him. I
- 52:25Speaker 5: thought that. You know, Ben Myers had a great game,
- 52:28Speaker 5: as as the caller said, Matty Beniers with a big goal.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Again.
- 52:32Speaker 5: You know, the thing about Mattie Beniers is like that
- 52:35Speaker 5: was his eleventh of the year. It went off his body.
- 52:39Speaker 5: It went off of his body because he went harder
- 52:41Speaker 5: than net. You know, it wasn't a snipe, it wasn't
- 52:44Speaker 5: a wrapping around, wasn't a deeke. You go harder the net.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Good things happened that time. It went off his body.
- 52:48Speaker 5: It counts as a goal. He's starting to recognize that
- 52:51Speaker 5: there's lots of ways you could score in the NHL
- 52:53Speaker 5: and that's just one of them.
- 52:54Speaker 13: We mentioned that line. By the way, it is one
- 52:56Speaker 13: of our storylines here for this evenings game. Back in pregame,
- 52:59Speaker 13: mccambanier zebraally here for tonight five on five shot at
- 53:02Speaker 13: Stems had the advantage at fourteen to nine. By the way,
- 53:05Speaker 13: in this four to one win over the Islanders, was
- 53:07Speaker 13: all right downstairs we go for more reaction. Here's cracking
- 53:10Speaker 13: at coach lane.
- 53:11Speaker 24: Lambert, Coach, you taken a bunch of early penalties, you
- 53:15Speaker 24: give up a goal early on. You had to be thinking,
- 53:18Speaker 24: oh no, not this again. But your team does turn
- 53:20Speaker 24: around really quickly there in the first period. I guess,
- 53:22Speaker 24: just in general, what did you make of a the
- 53:24Speaker 24: penalties and be how they responded to that goal against.
- 53:28Speaker 25: Yeah, I thought, you know, I thought there was we
- 53:32Speaker 25: clearly have to stay out of the box. We can't
- 53:34Speaker 25: take that many penalties. I don't necessarily know if they
- 53:37Speaker 25: were all penalties, but they were called, you know, And
- 53:41Speaker 25: having given up the first goal early on, I thought
- 53:43Speaker 25: our power play did a great job of capitalizing on
- 53:47Speaker 25: you know, that five on three when we really needed
- 53:49Speaker 25: them to. So it was a great job by them.
- 53:53Speaker 25: And then you know, from the rest, you know, for
- 53:56Speaker 25: the rest of the night. After that first power play
- 53:58Speaker 25: that they had, I thought we did an outstanding and
- 54:00Speaker 25: I thought our goaltender was great.
- 54:02Speaker 24: You mixed up lines quite a bit tonight. Did you
- 54:04Speaker 24: like what you what you saw from that mix?
- 54:07Speaker 25: Well, I didn't necessarily mix them up that much. It
- 54:11Speaker 25: was just there was so many penalties, and some guys
- 54:15Speaker 25: don't kill, so you know, you have to try and
- 54:18Speaker 25: find a way to get some guys some ice time.
- 54:21Speaker 25: You know, we killed over ten and a half minutes
- 54:23Speaker 25: and penalties, and you know, certain guys sit there and
- 54:29Speaker 25: you know, so you try and put them out there
- 54:31Speaker 25: and get their legs going. And that means sometimes it's
- 54:33Speaker 25: with a different combination.
- 54:42Speaker 11: Okay, I'm gonna soldier through. What impressed me about the
- 54:46Speaker 11: penalty killed was that I think the Islanders only had
- 54:51Speaker 11: seven total shots on goal in the seven power plays.
- 54:57Speaker 11: So what was your team doing that prevented the Islanders
- 55:02Speaker 11: from even getting shots on Grubauer?
- 55:05Speaker 25: Well, I thought our structure was good, you know, and
- 55:08Speaker 25: so for you know, for them, they were looking for
- 55:11Speaker 25: some passing lanes, some seams and things like that. We
- 55:13Speaker 25: were taking those situations away, you know, which stopped them
- 55:19Speaker 25: from shooting at times. The other thing is that I
- 55:21Speaker 25: thought we had some great commitment. We did block some
- 55:23Speaker 25: shots in that situation, so you have to have that
- 55:26Speaker 25: if you're going to have success on the penalty kill.
- 55:28Speaker 25: And when they did get those seven shots, you know,
- 55:31Speaker 25: obviously the first one was a tough one. Certainly nothing
- 55:34Speaker 25: Gruby could do about it. It was off the post
- 55:37Speaker 25: and end. But you know the other ones I thought
- 55:39Speaker 25: he really stood tall.
- 55:41Speaker 11: The other shot situation was the third period when the
- 55:45Speaker 11: Islanders who are desperate to claw back from two goals down,
- 55:50Speaker 11: and you only give them five shots total in the period,
- 55:54Speaker 11: So you must have liked that shut down aspect of
- 55:58Speaker 11: your defense.
- 55:59Speaker 25: I did like that, you know, because we uh, you know,
- 56:04Speaker 25: we we've talked about it, and I thought our commitment
- 56:06Speaker 25: level was good. I thought our attention to detail was
- 56:09Speaker 25: really good tonight. You know, we took care of things
- 56:13Speaker 25: that we needed to do in front of our net,
- 56:15Speaker 25: which you know had been leaking a little bit in
- 56:17Speaker 25: the last couple of games. So yeah, it was it
- 56:20Speaker 25: was a good period for US.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Coach. Coco obviously had the goal.
- 56:26Speaker 13: He seemed like he made a lot of really smart
- 56:28Speaker 13: plays and would you make a display.
- 56:30Speaker 25: Yeah, I thought he played well. I thought the goalie scored.
- 56:32Speaker 25: I thought Schwartz did a great job of getting out
- 56:34Speaker 25: of the ford check stealing the puck, you know, and
- 56:37Speaker 25: a couple came off the bench and and buried it.
- 56:40Speaker 8: You know.
- 56:41Speaker 25: I just think that his compete level, his competition for
- 56:45Speaker 25: pucks was really good tonight. So you know, we need
- 56:48Speaker 25: him to do that and keep doing that. He has
- 56:49Speaker 25: a big body and he needs to use it. And
- 56:51Speaker 25: I thought he did that.
- 56:53Speaker 24: Coach, I don't know if you even realize this, but
- 56:55Speaker 24: it's almost been two years to the day since the
- 56:57Speaker 24: Islander has made a change.
- 56:59Speaker 1: What is that?
- 56:59Speaker 24: When mean for you personally?
- 57:01Speaker 4: Tonight?
- 57:02Speaker 25: It's been two years, so you know, I mean, I
- 57:06Speaker 25: have a lot of I have a lot of good
- 57:08Speaker 25: memories from being in the New York Islander organization. We
- 57:11Speaker 25: had a lot of success in that organization when I
- 57:14Speaker 25: was there. There's not that many players left. I guess
- 57:18Speaker 25: that that were there, you know, there's eight or nine,
- 57:20Speaker 25: I guess, but certainly you know, those guys we went
- 57:25Speaker 25: through a lot of battles together. It was nice to
- 57:27Speaker 25: see some of them, you know, pre game a little
- 57:30Speaker 25: bit just to say hi, but you know, when the
- 57:33Speaker 25: game starts, it did feel good to beat them, There's
- 57:37Speaker 25: no question about it. But it felt better just to
- 57:39Speaker 25: get a win. You know, we need to get on.
- 57:42Speaker 13: Track, all right, Len Lambert pretty diplomatic there with that answer.
- 57:46Speaker 13: And I think at first she had a thing that
- 57:48Speaker 13: he have like the the one soccer frozen in his head.
- 57:51Speaker 8: Let it go.
- 57:53Speaker 13: But you knew that there was a little bit of
- 57:56Speaker 13: an emotional connection, a little.
- 57:59Speaker 5: Bit though you love you love beating your teams that
- 58:01Speaker 5: you get traded from, that you get low, that go
- 58:04Speaker 5: from from as a job or a coach.
- 58:06Speaker 13: It always there are ways the room motivates itself when
- 58:10Speaker 13: guys see their former teams.
- 58:12Speaker 5: Right, and I don't care how many years it's been,
- 58:15Speaker 5: it still feels good.
- 58:17Speaker 8: All right, crack it again.
- 58:18Speaker 13: Beat the Islanders for one before we get out of here.
- 58:20Speaker 13: By the way, one more check here of our takomadash
- 58:25Speaker 13: text line here for this evening, and we get one
- 58:28Speaker 13: here from I'm trying to go back and find it out. Yep,
- 58:31Speaker 13: here we go from the sixty three one, saying good,
- 58:33Speaker 13: good win good bounce back here Maddy Beniers hot. Bill
- 58:36Speaker 13: Grubauer has been wonderful this season. Here that from Kevin
- 58:39Speaker 13: in New York on the six to three to one
- 58:40Speaker 13: by the way, one check of the Anaheim Ducks. They've
- 58:45Speaker 13: won five in a row. They have jolted themselves right
- 58:48Speaker 13: back in this mix. And for a team that is
- 58:52Speaker 13: still entering today thirty first in the league in goals against,
- 58:56Speaker 13: when you beat the Avalanche to one in a shootout,
- 58:59Speaker 13: that will make some teams pay attention. Then they're showing up.
- 59:04Speaker 13: They're pretty serious about hanging around this mixtill right now.
- 59:06Speaker 5: That'll make you raise an eyebrow for sure. This Anaheim
- 59:09Speaker 5: team is legit. They've got a lot of offensive talent
- 59:13Speaker 5: and Lucas Dostaal had a big game tonight. He's definitely
- 59:18Speaker 5: playing his part in their success.
- 59:20Speaker 13: They have been going through a bit of an injury
- 59:22Speaker 13: bug as well. Some guys out of the lineup recently
- 59:26Speaker 13: include Troy Terry upper body ailment might be on this
- 59:29Speaker 13: road trip here we learned, of course Leo Carlson. That's
- 59:31Speaker 13: a big loss. Let hen score him in a three
- 59:33Speaker 13: to five weeks with a leg procedure as well, and
- 59:36Speaker 13: then Frank Patronto out with a shoulder ailment out for
- 59:39Speaker 13: six weeks as far as his timeline.
- 59:40Speaker 8: He's also on ir Can.
- 59:42Speaker 5: I give one more bit of love to Ben Myers
- 59:44Speaker 5: real quick, just looking at some stats from tonight. He
- 59:47Speaker 5: was eighty six percent in the draw tonight, eighty six percent,
- 59:51Speaker 5: mikey XQP eighty nine percent going eight eight and one,
- 59:54Speaker 5: and you might think, well, that's just a one off
- 59:55Speaker 5: night for him. He's played thirty one games with the
- 59:57Speaker 5: crack of this this year or this year so far,
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: fifty three point four percent overall, right above Chandler Stevenson
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: at fifty two point six who's played forty seven games.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: So Ben Myers absolutely having an impact not only on
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: the scoreboard but in the.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Dots as well.
- 1:00:12Speaker 13: One assist, fourteen fourteen of ice time, two block shots,
- 1:00:16Speaker 13: just say, eight of nine face off circle. That's a
- 1:00:18Speaker 13: great Ben Myers game, if you ask me. And a
- 1:00:20Speaker 13: big reason why that Lane Lambert just can't resist putting
- 1:00:23Speaker 13: him back out there over and over and over. But
- 1:00:27Speaker 13: here for the Kraken one on one now in this
- 1:00:29Speaker 13: home stand, and it's gonna be a big one coming
- 1:00:31Speaker 13: up here on Friday against Anaheim.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you just got to look at this
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: stretch here where you've got four more home games before
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: you finish the pre Olympic break with a road trip
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: of three games. You've got to collect as many points
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: as possible before you go on this break, because who
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: knows what situation teams are going to be in when
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: they when you come back from this break, there's gonna
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: be uh, you know, guys that get healthy, guys, guys
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: that are healthier. Who knows what effect the break is
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: gonna have on teams. Go take care of business now
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: and then worry about the games after the break.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Once you get back from the.
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: Break, that'll be a fun one third Jersey Night Cracking
- 1:01:05Speaker 13: and Ducks seven o'clock Pacific time faceoff on air six
- 1:01:08Speaker 13: point thirty. By the way, I hope that you can
- 1:01:10Speaker 13: join us when we're back here at Tom's Watch Bar
- 1:01:12Speaker 13: once again for post game.
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: It's all the time we got right here. Big.
- 1:01:15Speaker 13: Thank you again to Travis Mulger, technical director, also Terry Ryan,
- 1:01:18Speaker 13: our on site engineer and for al Koniski. This is
- 1:01:22Speaker 13: Mike Benton saying good night from Climbing Pledge Arena and
- 1:01:25Speaker 13: Tom's watch Bar man.
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: Thank you for joining us.
- 1:01:28Speaker 13: Your final score once again Cracking four Islanders one. This
- 1:01:31Speaker 13: is Tucking cracking on ninety three to three KJRFM,
