- 3:30Speaker 3: government fired back saying it's really no different from any
- 3:34Speaker 3: other permanent event on the national lawn. A Herndon man
- 3:39Speaker 3: is on the run after allegedly kidnapping someone during a
- 3:41Speaker 3: domestic dispute Saturday night and leading police on a chase
- 3:45Speaker 3: through Virginia, DC and into Prince George's County. The victim

- 5:00Speaker 2: know how you're doing in your headspace upstairs, if you will,
- 5:05Speaker 2: as you get this brand new week started. Maybe today
- 5:08Speaker 2: was a day you didn't want to get out of bed.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Maybe today's the day you're looking forward to, but you're
- 5:12Speaker 2: not sure how it's gonna go. Well, we hope that
- 5:14Speaker 2: some words we found for your morning mindset might give
- 5:17Speaker 2: you a little lift as you get into this new week.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We'll get to that coming up in just minutes. Stay
- 5:22Speaker 2: with Tobe, You and Chilly in the Morning, Washington's variety
- 5:26Speaker 2: of the eighties, nineties, and today on this Monday morning,
- 5:28Speaker 2: it's ninety seven point one Wash FM with Toby and
- 5:31Speaker 2: Chilly in the Morning. It's time now for us to
- 5:32Speaker 2: take a second to talk about and focus on you
- 5:37Speaker 2: and how you're doing today.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And it's called our morning mindset. We find a quote,
- 5:41Speaker 3: share it with you. Maybe you can think about it
- 5:43Speaker 3: as you take on the rest of the day, especially
- 5:44Speaker 3: if you're struggling on a Monday.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Meister Eckert from way back in the day once said this,
- 5:51Speaker 2: be willing to be a beginner every single morning. Be
- 5:57Speaker 2: willing to be a beginner every single morning. You know,
- 6:01Speaker 2: you might think you've accomplished a lot in life. You
- 6:04Speaker 2: might think you've got a title. Maybe you think you
- 6:06Speaker 2: have seniority. All of that really doesn't mean very much
- 6:10Speaker 2: if you don't have humility. And if you do have humility,
- 6:14Speaker 2: remember that's the key component of growth. So be willing
- 6:19Speaker 2: to be a beginner again today as you get up,
- 6:22Speaker 2: while you're driving to work, maybe as you're in the
- 6:25Speaker 2: kitchen getting ready to take on the day. Be willing
- 6:28Speaker 2: to be a beginner every single morning. Meister Eckers with
- 6:33Speaker 2: your morning mindset today. If you need it again, you'll
- 6:35Speaker 2: find it. Just hit us up on socials you'll see
- 6:37Speaker 2: it there, or you can check out the Atobian Chilipage
- 6:40Speaker 2: washchefm dot com. And if you get something that has
- 6:44Speaker 2: helped you get through inspired you to take on whatever
- 6:48Speaker 2: is to come day by day, let us know what
- 6:51Speaker 2: that is. Share it with us so we can share
- 6:52Speaker 2: it with those in this space, maybe even tomorrow morning.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. Now that your
- 6:58Speaker 2: headspace is ready to go, stay with us because.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Next at the beginning of the show, you asked me
- 7:03Speaker 3: how my birthday weekend was. Yes, and I said that
- 7:06Speaker 3: turning fifty four, specifically, this age was bittersweet because of
- 7:11Speaker 3: a personal reason. And I'm going to share what that
- 7:14Speaker 3: reason is, and maybe some of you who've lost a
- 7:17Speaker 3: loved one at a young age can relate. That's coming
- 7:20Speaker 3: up next.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Tilly and Tilly in the morning. It is ninety seven
- 7:22Speaker 2: point one. Wyh FM I A till you got to explained,
- 7:25Speaker 2: bitter sweet Birthday? What is this?
- 7:29Speaker 3: Yeah? So I turned fifty four. And the significance of
- 7:32Speaker 3: fifty four is that was the age my mother was
- 7:36Speaker 3: diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Oh.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Now, at the time when she was diagnosed, I was
- 7:42Speaker 3: thirty two, because she had me very young. I was
- 7:44Speaker 3: a grown adult, and you don't really think about how
- 7:48Speaker 3: young somebody is. I mean, I know that she passed
- 7:50Speaker 3: away very young at fifty nine. Right, Well, when you
- 7:52Speaker 3: get to that age, I'm fifty four, now I'm thinking,
- 7:56Speaker 3: oh my god.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Like there's a connection in those memories.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Crazy, right, My son is twelve, Like, he's very young,
- 8:03Speaker 3: and so there's this weird thing that happens. And you think,
- 8:07Speaker 3: if I'm diagnosed with something like that at this age, gosh,
- 8:10Speaker 3: I don't. I haven't lived life yet. There's still so
- 8:12Speaker 3: much I want to do, so much I want to see.
- 8:15Speaker 3: That sort of thing is happening. And now every doctor's
- 8:18Speaker 3: appointment I'm going to go to this year, there's gonna
- 8:20Speaker 3: be a tiny bit of that paranoia of h what
- 8:23Speaker 3: if they find something.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:25Speaker 3: You had mentioned to me last week off the air Chili,
- 8:29Speaker 3: you did so many things because of your mother's diagnosis
- 8:32Speaker 3: to prevent the same thing happening. I had a hysterectomy,
- 8:35Speaker 3: I had a preventive double mastectomy because we carry the
- 8:39Speaker 3: same gene. Sure, but still I'm like, well, what if
- 8:44Speaker 3: something else gets me? You know the thing that's kind
- 8:47Speaker 3: of brewing in my head. Now that I've come.
- 8:49Speaker 2: To this age, I will say that you did everything
- 8:53Speaker 2: you could do to control what you can control. The
- 8:56Speaker 2: rest of it is in the hands of an almighty God.
- 8:58Speaker 2: You just have to get to a point where you
- 9:00Speaker 2: realize there's some stuff that you can't control and you're
- 9:04Speaker 2: just gonna have to kind of let that go and
- 9:06Speaker 2: live the best life you can because I think, to me,
- 9:09Speaker 2: honoring your mom's memory and legacy, yes, as your mom's
- 9:14Speaker 2: legacy is to just give it up. The stuff that
- 9:18Speaker 2: you can't get out of your head. You just have
- 9:20Speaker 2: to give it to whatever your higher power is and
- 9:23Speaker 2: trust that you've done everything the best that you can.
- 9:27Speaker 3: The next big milestone will be passing the age she
- 9:31Speaker 3: was when she passed away, So I've got like four
- 9:33Speaker 3: or five years for that. But that'll be the next
- 9:35Speaker 3: time you have this oh my gosh moment, you know.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Ever forward to that day. Come good stuff. Thank you
- 9:41Speaker 2: for sharing that with the class. This morning they're Chili,
- 9:43Speaker 2: We're tell Me and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety

- 12:16Speaker 3: at the Fort Reno pumping station, and finally, Rockville Pike
- 12:21Speaker 3: ranked number seven on a national list of the worst
- 12:24Speaker 3: roads for passive aggressive driving behavior. The survey links the
- 12:28Speaker 3: strip's heavy shopping center traffic to frustrating driving behaviors like tailgating,

- 12:49Speaker 2: top of the hours, stay right there, because next to
- 12:52Speaker 2: ninety seven point one watch FM to hear about this
- 12:55Speaker 2: kindergarten fight that went viral. It wasn't the kid that
- 13:00Speaker 2: were fighting, Oh no, these grown folk decided they wanted
- 13:06Speaker 2: to get a little unruly. We'll tell you this story
- 13:10Speaker 2: and then we've gotten to know if you've ever experienced
- 13:12Speaker 2: anything like this conversation happens next stay with Toby and
- 13:16Speaker 2: Chilly in the morning. These parents have straight up gone
- 13:21Speaker 2: buck wild at this school. Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 13:23Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one watch FM. Now why would
- 13:26Speaker 2: I say something like that? Well, did you see the
- 13:29Speaker 2: video that's gone viral from just up the road in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Last week? There was a video floating around that showed
- 13:38Speaker 3: parents getting into a fight like this fight had a
- 13:41Speaker 3: kindergarten graduation. There was even somebody holding a baby in
- 13:46Speaker 3: the midst of this chaos. The aggressor was charged with
- 13:51Speaker 3: disorderly conduct and trespassing. But I mean, how are you
- 13:55Speaker 3: not aware of where you are and you're in front
- 14:00Speaker 3: of that you would let your anger get to that point?
- 14:03Speaker 2: We're the example of your setting. Yes, you know what,
- 14:06Speaker 2: there's some things you just can't explain. This is one
- 14:09Speaker 2: of them. Whatever the reason was, like, nothing justifies that
- 14:13Speaker 2: there's no good reason, none.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And then to your point, you're doing this in front
- 14:19Speaker 3: of kindergartens. Now you've ruined this special occasion, but you've
- 14:22Speaker 3: also traumatized some of.
- 14:23Speaker 2: These kids, traumatized them, and then you for the other kids.
- 14:26Speaker 2: You've sent the message that this is how grown people
- 14:29Speaker 2: solve problems and it's not.
- 14:31Speaker 3: No, it's not how we should be solving problems.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Right.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I feel like anyone whose kids have played organized sports, especially,
- 14:38Speaker 3: you see a lot of parents getting very vocal with
- 14:43Speaker 3: coaches and with other parents and maybe even sometimes throwing fists.
- 14:48Speaker 3: They just can't seem to control their emotions in front
- 14:52Speaker 3: of young people.
- 14:52Speaker 2: There's no time that this is ever acceptable. I mean,
- 14:56Speaker 2: let's just cut to the chase. And I'm glad that
- 14:59Speaker 2: the authority got involved and that there were charges that
- 15:02Speaker 2: were you know, handed out by the po post, so
- 15:05Speaker 2: to speak. But really those charges pale in comparison to
- 15:10Speaker 2: the lesson that you may or may not have sent
- 15:13Speaker 2: by your unspoken, now viral behavior of ridiculousness. And so
- 15:19Speaker 2: keep that in mind, because you know what, the apple
- 15:21Speaker 2: doesn't fall far from the tree.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But have you ever seen a group of parents throw
- 15:26Speaker 3: down and fight at a kid's.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Event eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Tell us what went down? What did you do? Why
- 15:34Speaker 2: did these parents get all like shopping arms shook, yeh, friggured, argumentative, unruly,
- 15:42Speaker 2: Give us a call now, we'll discuss coming up. It's
- 15:44Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the Morning, continues on this money.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I'm thinking we're Toby and Chilly in the Morning. It's
- 15:48Speaker 2: ninety seven point one watch FM. We ought to rename
- 15:51Speaker 2: this segment Parents Gone Wild. Have you seen the viral
- 15:55Speaker 2: video out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that's been floating around.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Parents got into a fistfight at a kindergarten graduation.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Because nothing says congratulations on your kindergarten graduations like mom
- 16:07Speaker 2: and dad duking it out with other moms and dads.
- 16:10Speaker 3: But you know what, that's not the only time adults
- 16:13Speaker 3: have behaved poorly at a kid's event.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Or tap the talk back microphone if you're signed and
- 16:21Speaker 2: listening to us right now on your iHeart app and
- 16:23Speaker 2: tell us what you've seen and experienced in Alexandria. Good morning, Ashley.
- 16:28Speaker 2: What's up so our.
- 16:29Speaker 3: God daughter plays hockey, and what have you seen at
- 16:32Speaker 3: your goddaughter's hockey game.
- 16:34Speaker 7: It's not just the hockey players that get into fight
- 16:37Speaker 7: sex game, that's parents too.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Actually, that's a sweeping indictment. You've got to explain what
- 16:42Speaker 2: you mean.
- 16:42Speaker 7: Usually it's if their kids get into a fight and
- 16:45Speaker 7: if like one of them gets like penalized or something,
- 16:48Speaker 7: and then the other parents, you know, does some things
- 16:50Speaker 7: that they deserve it, and then they'll start arguing like
- 16:53Speaker 7: you know, like well your kids touch my kid first,
- 16:55Speaker 7: or your kids through my kids sick or something, and
- 16:58Speaker 7: then they'll just start arguing in the bleachers.
- 17:00Speaker 3: So how do you feel about all this?
- 17:01Speaker 7: That's pretty fun, Actually it's really entertaining.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Well, that's one way to put it, until your kids
- 17:05Speaker 3: start doing the same thing and suddenly you're not laughing anymore.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Right, and they call me the pod stir ma'am Ashley,
- 17:13Speaker 2: thank you for jumping in this morning. It's ninety seven
- 17:15Speaker 2: point one wash FM out to Leesburg Rachel parents lost.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Its went a little bit wild.
- 17:21Speaker 8: Where we were at a football game and normally I
- 17:24Speaker 8: don't really go to football games, but you know, it
- 17:26Speaker 8: was the first high school game of my daughter being
- 17:28Speaker 8: in high school. Mom, please go with me. It was
- 17:31Speaker 8: a homecoming game. I go and I'm like okay, and
- 17:33Speaker 8: I turn around and literally two dads throwing hands.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Throwing hands, What does that even mean?
- 17:39Speaker 8: One guy push the other guy almost fell off the bleachers.
- 17:43Speaker 8: He got back up, pushed the other guy.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Sounds like an episode of Jerry Springer.
- 17:47Speaker 2: All that's missing of the chairs being thrown around.
- 17:49Speaker 8: They were going to town on each other. It was horrible, cop.
- 17:52Speaker 8: We're called a court and then they ended up leaving
- 17:55Speaker 8: having to get a sported.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Thanks for the call this morning, Rachel. I mean, can
- 17:58Speaker 2: you imagine being those kids up there? Goes my dad
- 18:01Speaker 2: looks like my dad and your dad got to know
- 18:04Speaker 2: each other at this Yere homecoming game. Thanks for jumping

- 22:49Speaker 2: For you to see Teddy swims at Capital One Arena.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Coming up next, a story we think will make your Monday.
- 22:56Speaker 3: A Fairfax County man recently conquered Mount Everest, fulfilling a
- 23:00Speaker 3: promise to a young girl who never got the chance
- 23:03Speaker 3: to make the climb herself.
- 23:04Speaker 2: This is one of those stories you just have to hear.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Do not miss it. It's Monday morning here at ninety
- 23:11Speaker 2: seven point one watch Chef m You picked Toby and
- 23:13Speaker 2: Chilly in the morning for your in flight entertainment as
- 23:16Speaker 2: we begin a brand new week, and at this time
- 23:20Speaker 2: every Monday, we like to pause and take a look
- 23:22Speaker 2: at something good, a story that we think might just
- 23:24Speaker 2: make your Monday. And that's why we go to Fairfax
- 23:26Speaker 2: County this morning to tell you the story of Frank Fumack,
- 23:29Speaker 2: who has run more than get this, one hundred and
- 23:31Speaker 2: fifty marathons, biked across the country, reached the South Pole,
- 23:35Speaker 2: then competes in ultra marathons, has done a dozen of those,
- 23:39Speaker 2: all while raising money for charity. But last month there
- 23:43Speaker 2: was something that Frank did that he'd been working toward
- 23:46Speaker 2: from more than two decades. Standing on top of the world,
- 23:50Speaker 2: literally at Mount.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Everest, now he didn't go up there empty handed. Tucked
- 23:55Speaker 3: in his pack was a small vial of ashes that
- 23:58Speaker 3: belonged to a young woman named Lily Tukxavitis, the thirteen
- 24:03Speaker 3: year old daughter of one of his closest friends who
- 24:05Speaker 3: had died of cancer back in twenty nineteen. So her
- 24:08Speaker 3: father gave him some of her ashes to carry on
- 24:11Speaker 3: his adventures around the world, and at the top of
- 24:14Speaker 3: Everest he was able to lay Lily to rest.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Now, getting there was not easy. Frank had to train
- 24:20Speaker 2: for months, running, lifting, hiking the Shenandoah in full gear,
- 24:25Speaker 2: slept every night in altitude ten for two months before
- 24:29Speaker 2: the trip so he could simulate what the thin air
- 24:31Speaker 2: near the summit of Mount Everest was like. He said
- 24:34Speaker 2: it was almost harder than climbing Mount Everest itself.
- 24:38Speaker 3: And he also says that getting Lily to the highest
- 24:40Speaker 3: point on Earth was the most meaningful thing he's ever done.
- 24:44Speaker 3: And at fifty eight years old, he has this message
- 24:47Speaker 3: to everyone, get off the couch, go find out what
- 24:51Speaker 3: you're made of, because, according to Frank, you might just
- 24:54Speaker 3: surprise yourself.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And you might just have a story one day like
- 24:58Speaker 2: Frank's that makes our Monday Frank, thank you for just
- 25:01Speaker 2: living life as an exclamation point. That is unbelievable. And
- 25:06Speaker 2: for what you did for the memory of Lily and
- 25:09Speaker 2: laying her arrest at the top of the world, literally
- 25:12Speaker 2: Mount Everest. That is spectacular. And if you feel like
- 25:15Speaker 2: you might want to share this story with somebody who
- 25:17Speaker 2: needs to read it, you'll find it on the Toby
- 25:18Speaker 2: and chilipage at washfm dot com. And while you're there,
- 25:20Speaker 2: we would encourage you to share something with us that's
- 25:23Speaker 2: made your Monday, so that maybe we two can share
- 25:25Speaker 2: it in this space next week it's ninety seven point
- 25:28Speaker 2: one WASHFM Top Stories at the top of the hour.
- 25:30Speaker 2: On the way Chili, what's up?
- 25:31Speaker 3: Think about the last time you got to hang out
