[laughs] Shit, we don't have any music. This is Chewy's Podcast number 34. We just retur- well, I mean, we literally just returned from, uh, SingleSpeed USA in Kansas City.
• 0:12
Um, s- well, Shannon and I were there with some of our older friends from SingleSpeed life, and Spinner was at a wedding. Yeah. And then went, went... Did you go to Levitt's right afterwards?
• 0:23
I went to Levitt's, yeah, yesterday. So, um, yeah, so we're just gonna talk about that, and, and, uh, w- Savvis, Sav was gonna come down and r- uh, give us the whole story behind the, uh, the, the rat ride out there. Mm.
• 0:37
However, he's busy cooking for five senior- or five high school player kids. Oh. So he's, he's not coming down. He's playing daddy duty this weekend. Yeah, yeah. By the way, we're in Decorah tonight, guys.
• 0:46
I was in Kansas City briefly, um, the weekend before. Were you really? On the way down and back to Bentonville, yeah. [laughs] Oh, yeah, you would go right through there. That's right, yeah. Yeah. Um, and it's, it's...
• 0:57
I don't know. It, it was... So we left Thursday morning, got down there, and it's fucking humid as all get out down there. The humidity is worse there than it is here.
• 1:07
Well, so in Bentonville it was 107, um, the weekend before. What was the temperatures in- Uh, 80s I don't know Like maybe 90. It was like- Oh, so it cooled down quite a bit... mid to upper 90s though. It was hot. Was it?
• 1:17
Oh, yeah. I... It was- It was not great... when the su- when the sun was gone, it was still miserable because the he- the humidity was so bad. Mm. I mean, it was just- Mm... and thick.
• 1:25
I mean, it wa- [laughs] one of the guys, as we were riding the trails yesterday, goes, um, "So how do you like trying to breathe under water?" 'Cause that's what it felt [laughs] like. Yeah. It was that bad. Mm.
• 1:34
Oh, by the way, uh, yeah, did I tell who was everybody here? No, you didn't. Yeah. Oh, okay. So w- No introductions? No nothing, just- Nothing... jump right into the... There's no music.
• 1:42
It's like you haven't done a podcast- No... in, in a month. I, I haven't, I di- [laughs] I haven't done a podcast [laughs] since like Wednesday. [laughs] The la- well- Okay. So-... last one posted is July 10th, so...
• 1:51
so, yeah. So, so- It's rusty... oh wait, did we start over again? No, we're not starting over. No, we're not starting over. Uh, [laughs] so, uh, this is the four- twen- 34th podcast.
• 1:58
Shannon's here, uh, Spinner's here, myself, and we're missing a few other bodies, but that's fine. We'll, we'll get, we'll survive. We've got lots to talk about. We- There's a ton of stuff to talk about...
• 2:06
are the survivors that made it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're the one, we're the ones still standing at the end of Sunday afternoon, and we had a six-hour drive back. Mm. I, yeah, I- I had a six-hour drive back. Yeah.
• 2:16
I had a great nap- [laughs]... for the whole way. To be fair, I had a wrestling golf outing, and then a wrestling wedding following that.
• 2:23
So I feel like I had just as much of a drunken shitshow weekend as you guys probably did. Quite possibly. Possibly, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we'll start from the beginning of that. W- would you... Well,
• 2:33
anything, what else do you wanna put out? Anything exciting happen at the wedding? Um, [laughs] fucking nothing I reme- well, the- [laughs] If you see my knees. Oh. Oh. Oh. Yeah, we'll need the picture of that.
• 2:44
I'm assuming that's from- Wrestling... shooting on somebody on carpet. [laughs] I don't know. [laughs] But you had...
• 2:51
Yeah, so we had our Luther wrestling golf outing, so a lot of people come back for that, and then Travie, Travis Scrivner, an All-American,
• 2:57
got married, um, that evening, so everybody was there, and it was, you know, free beer, and I don't know. I had a keg on hole number six, uh, to myself as I was handing out cups.
• 3:09
And of course we're just drinking all day, so it's gonna be a shitshow by the time- Mm... midnight at the wedding. I don't know. Yeah. Di- you weren't in the wedding, were you? No. Oh, Jesus. Good. No.
• 3:20
So we left, so we left for SingleSpeed USA in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday, on Thursday. Thursday morning. Drove down, got down there, got into the hotel.
• 3:32
I had just a disaster trying to get my hotel figured out, but it worked out okay. We survived. Um, what did we do Thursday night?
• 3:38
Oh, so Shannon has now been intro- introduced to the new thing that a bunch of us do, that as soon as you get to some place, you pull out your phone and you Google "dive bars near me."
• 3:50
[laughs] Which then became "haunted dive bars near me." Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Haunted dive bars. So e- a- and then- Yes...
• 3:57
a- and on her list of bars that we were gonna go to, you know, we started looking, it's like, "Oh, hey, Corner Bar. Oh, there's a Corner Bar in De- in Decorah." We should check that out. And it's only half a mile away.
• 4:05
We went to that. Yeah. That was... We closed that one down- Yeah... twice. [laughs] Yes, twice. Someone- So then-... unrelated, d- you know Friedelff was in Scotland- Yeah... and he found a Haymarket. No, really?
• 4:15
And he took pictures outside the Haymarket in Scotland too. [laughs] So, so the other one we found, uh, actually before, before we went to this one, was called Club 31, which is not quite half as good as 63 Club. Ah.
• 4:29
[laughs] Ding, ding, ding. However, however- 49%. [laughs] However, it was... Well, it wasn't open when we got there the first time, so we went, we went to, uh, Patrick's Bar and No Grill. Okay. Yeah.
• 4:44
That was a good d- that was a, that was a Haymarket dive bar. Yeah. That was a good place. That was a good one. That was the... People there were fun. Yeah, that was a good one.
• 4:49
That was the one, did you see that post I had of the, uh- The.1 kilo- Yeah, yeah Oh,.01K? Yeah. Yeah. It's like 328 feet. Lacrosse has one of those. Oh, really? Yeah. [laughs] So I was s- that's still a football field.
• 5:02
[laughs] I think La Crosse's might be shorter. I think La Crosse is.01K. It's just one city block from one bar to another. Oh. You ever heard of that? Oh. Oh, no, that's- No, I haven't... no, I haven't either. No. No.
• 5:12
I've seen, I know I've, I've seen, um, mile-long ones that go from bar to bar, or the 5K ones that go from bar to bar. Yeah. But I've never seen one that short before, no. Mm. Yeah. Mm, mm. Oh, cool. So yeah.
• 5:23
So then we, so we went to this place, and then we came back and we had a barbecue place. The barbecue's fantastic. Really good. And, and really good live music. Yeah.
• 5:30
That was like, that was like, that must be what Kansas City is like, because it was busy, but it was super good food. Yeah. Laid back atmosphere. Yeah, it was really good. What's...
• 5:39
Kansas City barbecue, is it like a sweeter barbecue? What's the, what's the typical flavor? No. Um, well the, well, they g- like, their, their idea of barbecue though is a lot of the stuff is a rub.
• 5:48
It's not really- Oh, it's not sauce?... they don't like, they don't, they don't... Well, they do, but they don't like s- Yeah... they don't, they don't slather it in sauce and bake it.
• 5:53
I think they, they give you sauces for after. I think there's a rub on there to start with. Mm. Yeah. So, um, um, yeah, we, we- Yeah... we went there-...
• 6:02
kind of hit 'em all, so we kind of just wound up [laughs] This was all Thursday? And then back to the 31 Club. [laughs] And we're back to the 31 Club, and we fit in so well. [laughs] What was the...
• 6:10
W- was Pat down there? No. The usual friend? No. Pat wasn't there either? No. Carrie...
• 6:14
And the funny thing is, is don't forget Carrie said, the one who ran Singlespeed USA in Austin, Texas, when she found out there, she goes, "Oh, fuck no," because her...
• 6:23
'cause Anthony is from there, and she goes, "I don't like the humidity in Austin, Texas, and that's worse." And she's absolutely right. She- [laughs] There was no way she was going. Wow.
• 6:32
[clears throat] So it was- Can't blame her. Yeah. No, there was, um- Who-... Candy, Candy and Jolly were there. Um, uh, Seth and his group from Maine. Um,
• 6:42
a, a group that helped us out in Texas, I thought they were from Austin. They were actually from Dallas. So that was, that was one that you ran around with last night. Yeah. Okay. Um- Not the Ask Guys?
• 6:51
The Austin Singlespeed? No, no. Well, I, I don't know.
• 6:54
I don't think they're the Ask Gu- Well, the Ask Guys are Austin, but w- as we were talking through the night last night, they want us to come down and help run Singlespeed Texas. Oh, so they're doing r- not Colorado.
• 7:06
So not Singlespeed USA. No, no, no. Their own. Yeah. No, no, no. They're doing their own thing. They're gonna just do the, like, like, there's Arizona and, and New York now with DJ, and then, um...
• 7:14
And they wanna do, they're gonna do Singlespeed Texas. Oh, okay. And kind of move it around in T- Good for them... in Texas itself. Like- That's big enough...
• 7:20
but their biggest problem is, is they, they were saying that they couldn't figure out where to run it in Dallas, because it's...
• 7:24
There's just the tr- Kind of the same as Kansas City, the trail groups are in charge of the trails, and good luck trying to get anybody to let you do anything on them, other than go out and ride them.
• 7:32
We've run enough races where we don't live and don't know anything [laughs] that they can figure their own shit out. [laughs] Yeah. So we... Yeah, so we... [clears throat] So Friday we were supposed to...
• 7:45
They did, they did, they did a group ride that [clears throat] we were gonna go on. We got there way early. We went and saw everybody. Zeke Shepherd, haven't seen him in years. Um,
• 7:53
hung out with him for a little bit, and then he recommended some places to go. We were just gonna kill some time until- Yeah...
• 7:58
everybody else showed up at The Lunch Box, which was our, like, dollar beers and really good sandwiches, I guess. Yeah. But it was like a, um... It's a, it's a convenience store, but I don't know. It was, it was cool.
• 8:09
Yeah, like a little general store. Oh, but then- You could... No seating, no nothing. Yeah. You just go and buy your stuff and go. And go sit down on the curb with all the- Yeah...
• 8:15
all the guys that were hanging out on the curb. All the guys. Yeah. And then, and, and it was... And, and the ride went kind of the same place we did, but we rode earlier in the day, and- More dive bars... about...
• 8:24
Yeah, we, it, we've, oh, we were, it was so baked. It was so hot. So we just kind of went... And again, pull out the thing, dive bars, and the... And we found a couple of good ones.
• 8:32
And, uh, Zeke recommended one, so we hit some good bars and, and did it, some just... So downtown was completely different. The, the...
• 8:39
If there's a problem with this race, it was the fact that, and they admitted it, it's because Kansas City's so big. You always have to get in a car and drive someplace. Oh, really?
• 8:48
Like, you know, even to go from, even to go from, um, West Bottoms to where Zeke works, that is a 30-minute bike ride, and it's not that far. It's just construction and bridges and trails and it's there- There's no-...
• 9:01
but it's, like, way over there. Yeah. Yeah, so. There's no greenway like other towns where you can get one side? Uh-uh. I think in certain spots there are, but I don't think any of them tie together. Not...
• 9:08
Yeah, I thought it was weird. Oh. It s- it almost sounded to me like the way they were talking, the mountain bike trails tie together better than the paved trails do. I think so.
• 9:14
So, um- Was Swope part of it, or what park did you guys ride? Um, Blue... Blue Mound or Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge, Blue Ridge River. Huh. Okay.
• 9:22
Or, well, the trail system, I think, is actually called Blue Ridge River Trails, yeah. Or maybe just Blue Ridge Trails. I can't remember which. Was there a race-type event [laughs] in the middle? No. No. Oh, really?
• 9:32
No, and do you know why? No, I do not know why. Because- Please tell me. [laughs] I'm just... No, I'm just gonna say it because they're gonna listen, and they're gonna...
• 9:37
They already ha- they already hate me, so this is just gonna add to it. Wow. Well, and they, they, and they admit it. They- They're people. Yeah... Kansas City...
• 9:43
So the long history is Kansas City wasn't winning their hosting rights for Singlespeed USA, and they got pissy and they started Singlespeed Kansas City. Just doing their own. Doing their own. Mm-hmm.
• 9:54
And since it started, they have essentially pissed off every bike club down there so they don't have a trail to ride on. Mm. Mm.
• 10:03
So I, I, I was trying to get out of those guys, "So is Kansas City Singlespeed gonna happen next year?" And they wouldn't say anything.
• 10:10
[laughs] So I'm guessing either they're not gonna tell anybody, or- And they're gonna do it, or it's just not happening... or, or they're just gonna do it.
• 10:15
Yeah, but, um, uh, Shannon found the pictures of it, too, and it's like the, the, the final nail in the coffin was a couch that they pulled up onto the highway, and it was in flames or something.
• 10:26
Yes, with people riding on it. Yeah. Oh. [laughs] Yeah. I mean, they're- Mm... they, they, they, they party hard. There's no getting around it. Yeah. I mean, that, that, that's, that was...
• 10:35
[laughs] But, uh, yeah, so that was, um, um- Oh, okay. Yeah. So they, uh... I don't remember where we started out with that part of the s- story, but- Uh, oh, I said do... Is there, was there an actual race?
• 10:46
Yeah, so they, so they, so they just- There was no timed event. No. Okay. They just did a ride out to... Well, so I, I don't know. I thought it was really fun. They started as a group. We rode through town.
• 10:54
We're in, we're in a suburb called, uh, Martin City. Good. And then, so we rode through town, like, a couple miles and got on some trails, single track, and we rode a single trail.
• 11:01
And it was cool because you're riding along the river bottoms, and then if you wanted to, you'd get to an intersection and somebody'd stop and go, "Easy heart, easy heart," and then you could just split and go ride.
• 11:09
And it was, uh, eight miles long. And then when you get to the end of that, they had a guy out there making tacos, street tacos. Yeah. And... Well, you helped set it up, so go ahead. Yeah, no, I mean, it was really good.
• 11:19
He goes around to all these mit- mountain bike races down there, and that's what he does. He makes street tacos and- Did he sell them or just give them to you?
• 11:26
No, the, the, the cl- the, out of your, your $100 entry fee- Yeah... you got that. Oh, okay. Yeah. I mean, they're, they're... Everybody bitched about w- [laughs] Everybody.
• 11:33
This, whatever this one guy just kept bitching about everything they were fucking doing down there, and he lives down there. And he didn't show up from what I can tell, because they,
• 11:40
during our gigantic argum- argument, they were looking for him, and we never saw him. But, um, they were kind of bitching about how much it cost, but they took really good care of us. Yeah.
• 11:48
I mean, they were concerned about not having as much beer as we did. Okay. So they got reserved beer, and I think they did okay with what they had. Yeah. Um- They did good with beer, but ran out of water. Yeah.
• 11:59
Oh, yeah, we ran out. It was so stinking hot. But again, it was so damn hot. Every... You know, the water was the bad part. But I'm, um... And then this guy cooked, and he cooked, and he cooked. Like- Yeah...
• 12:07
you did not have to worry about going hungry. Like- There was chicken, pork, beef Like carnitas Um, and then your box wine guy Box Wine Dan, yeah... was making fried bologna sandwiches. Yes.
• 12:20
[laughs] How is he frying bologna? Uh- In a pan? [laughs] Just- In a- You know, you just throw a little oil in the bottom. You have never done that?
• 12:27
No, but in the woods, I mean, what does he, he- Oh, he's using, he's a, he's a... I'm sorry, he's using- I know how bologna fries. [laughs] [laughs] I wasn't sure. Give context here.
• 12:34
Start from the, start from the beginning. I know I've eaten fried food before. [laughs] Uh, uh, um, uh, yeah, he just- He just had propane tanks- Yeah... and a little, little burner and his cast iron skillet.
• 12:42
He had little Coleman stoves. Just... Really? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. It's, it's, it's similar to, um, the bacon stop at our ra- at one of our races- Yeah... except for he did bologna sandwiches instead. Yeah.
• 12:52
Was there still box wine? Yes. Or was he doing both? Oh, no. He had box wine too. Yep. Yep, box wine and bologna. He has the funniest sticking stickers you've ever heard in your life.
• 13:00
Is that the- I think it was [laughs]... That's your dog. Yep. Yep. Never mind. Continue. Okay. Um, oh, crap, I don't have them, but they were obnoxious box ter- Oh, the stickers? Yeah, go grab them. I- I'll get them.
• 13:15
Yeah. So yeah, he was there, and so this was, like, under a bridge, so it was like, it was really cool, old school, um, homie fest type stuff. Okay. I mean, you know what? That would be a better way to describe it.
• 13:26
It was more like homie fest. Like Homie Fall Fest. Yes, rather than, rather than a race. And you know what? I, I'm totally okay with that because it's supposed to be whatever you could make happen, right?
• 13:35
So yeah, and Homie Fall Fest, for those who don't know, is Surly's kinda impromptu ride around Minneapolis and drink and- Yeah... sidebar. So these are- Box Wine Dan. Steal your bike. Yeah, here's, here.
• 13:46
Well, should we... I wanna- we're gonna let So- we're gonna spin and read. Okay. All height- Put them- All side, no hustle. No, no, no. Do these first. Oh, we got these? These, these are, these are- Are these new ones?
• 13:55
Yeah. No, these are from, these are from- These are, these are Box Wine Dan. Yeah, there you go. He put those together. Some of them are- My box is magic. [laughs] Boxwinedan.com. Yeah. Things are about to get messy.
• 14:08
[laughs] It's delicious. The box doesn't lie. [laughs] Does it say that on there? [laughs] On the box? I don't know. What is the brand? His- Oh, I think it's whatever he gets his hands on, isn't it? Yeah.
• 14:17
Is there more than one brand of box wine? Oh, there's tons. The Holy Trinity, bikes, beers, and box wine. [laughs] Better than Jim Jones Flavor Aid. I don't know what that one means. Oh, you're too young. Okay.
• 14:29
[laughs] It's exactly what you didn't know you wanted. [laughs] [laughs] How would you like it if everyone slapped your bag? [laughs] [laughs] Ask me about my go fuck yourself. [laughs] [laughs] That ticks.
• 14:45
And the best part is he's got the, the little, what does it say? Bird life or whatever. Big Bird Life. So that's how they, that's how they came packaged, so you couldn't read his stickers. On the front.
• 14:53
You just grabbed that one, and nobody was taking them. Yeah. Oh. 'Cause they're like, "What the hell are these?" I just grabbed them anyway because somebody was accusing us of being- Yeah... little girls.
• 15:02
Do you remember Smutons? No. [laughs] So, um- No...
• 15:08
as there, I was riding with a girl up at Lavis this weekend, and she invented Smutons, where she would, she had a button maker, like an industrial button maker, and damn, that was loud.
• 15:19
Um, and she would take porn magazines and just cut out little pieces of porn and put it on a button. Oh. And she handed out Smutons. Smutons. [laughs] I love it. Yeah. Smutons. I g- yeah, these are good.
• 15:33
Never heard of them. Yeah. Yeah, that was, that was, those were the surprise stickers that we really liked. But I mean, okay, so going back to what a nice swag bag we got. Yeah.
• 15:40
You got all that food, plus, plus the food that night- Yes... at the restaurant we went to was fantastic. All the chicken you could eat. Yeah. And it was giant pieces of- Yeah... mashed potatoes.
• 15:49
Like roasted chicken and- Yeah, I mean, and good food, and they had, and, uh, the Marin- or Martin, uh, City breweries makes really good beer. Yeah. So they had a bunch of that on hand, plus, you know, all the regulars.
• 15:59
Um, but, um, Boulevard, is that the other one? Boulevard was the big one at the, at the- Yeah... pack and stuff. So that, that, that, that, they did a really nice job.
• 16:05
I c- I, and I'm gonna kick myself because the people that were here and took it away f- or won it here last year, um, super nice people, and they worked their butts off on getting this accomplished. Yeah.
• 16:15
Did a really nice job. It was good. Yeah. And then, you know, and, and all that stuff, and then this giant swag bag. Look at the bells they gave out. They're huge. Oh, I saw those.
• 16:23
Look, they're like- I personally hate bells. I'm not a fan of those. Well, Crazy Carl grabbed his and says, "I'm not racing him. I'm just using the bell." [laughs] I gotta send this to old Carl.
• 16:34
He's gonna love this part. So yeah, it was, uh, it was, the, their, they did it well. For what they... You know, again, like I said, they had to... They couldn't race.
• 16:44
They just- They were, they're not allowed to race anymore? They, they're not allowed to... I, I'm under the impression that they're n- yeah, they can't hold an e- they can't hold an event- That's a race...
• 16:52
that's a race on any trail. I think, I'm not even sure they can hold an event.
• 16:55
After the conversations we had last night with some of those guys, and they were fessing up that, going back to our original story, that Kansas City, Single Speed Kansas City, has screwed it up so bad that they can't get any of the clubs to allow them to use their- Yeah...
• 17:07
their trail systems that they maintain. So this was, in my wor- in my mind, this was a coup for them guys, to get it, have it go off. Nobody did anything wrong or- Yeah... they had fun. Don't get me wrong.
• 17:17
Everybody got, everybody got plenty to drink. Everybody was shitloads of bike, and they, we- Right...
• 17:21
rolled the wrong way down the streets and everything like we would normally do, but they didn't do anything super stupid. Nothing got damaged. Yeah, no. Yeah.
• 17:27
But yeah, here, here's- Well, except for people, it sounds like. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, yeah. [laughs] Yes. Yeah, because- Lots of people were damaged, but- First night there was two or three. Or were there three?
• 17:35
Two broken arms? Two, there was two broken arms. Two broken arms in total. Yep. The ankle with JP, and then, um, the other guy's ankle that was all swollen up. Who was that again? Um... Um-
• 17:45
Oh, Dave, but Dave's wasn't before. [laughs] Oh, okay. So, so, um, I know I've been doing this for a long time, and so have a lot of these other guys, but it was kinda stupid.
• 17:55
We get out there, and we're out there riding across, and we're riding the river trail and having fun, and Candy's standing there. Um, uh, there's a n- another older gentleman in front of me, myself. I, um...
• 18:06
Oh, there was a couple from, there was a couple from, um, Minneapolis that were, they were there just to win DFL. So I was like, "You can't beat me." But, but at the same time, I'm like, "Well, you know what?
• 18:17
They're putting an effort in. I don't care. I'm just gonna go ride my bike." But we're all kinda standing around, and they... Dave Butler from Ohio rides up behind me. Now, last year when he was here- Yeah...
• 18:26
he had a broken toe on his left foot. Now his ankle's, like, all screwed up in three places, so his, his [laughs] he's taped up and got a brace on there, and it was killing him at the time.
• 18:35
So as we're sitting there, it's like, we decided that we've been doing this far too long, 'cause it's like- [laughs]... Dave starts bitching about his two feet being bad.
• 18:42
I start bitching about my, my hip, and then the guy, the [laughs] guy in front of me goes, he goes, "You get it replaced?" I go, "No, it's just my hip flexor." And he goes, "Yeah."
• 18:48
He goes, "I got a hip flexor and I gotta get both knees replaced." [laughs] So, so it's like, "And now let's take off and go ride bikes." [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] So it was like, just become- Carry on. Carry on.
• 18:57
Oh, it's g- Nothing to do with singlespeeding and- [laughs]... drunk as fuck for- Yeah... 40 years. [laughs] But, well, here's the bad part. He, the guy with the two bad knees and a- Yeah... uh, got, had a heat stroke.
• 19:09
Oh. And- He said-... fell off that wall at, the wall, you see the picture of where there's a wall, like, under the bridge, face first into the ground. Broke his nose. Ooh. Sliced his lip open. Yeah. Ooh. Yeah.
• 19:20
So, so- So I shuttled him back. That was my job. Oh, okay. Yeah. That was- Be the responsible one. It w- [laughs] well, she kinda saved their ass. She had a cooler. They didn't have enough coolers, so she had a cooler.
• 19:31
You, you shuttled all the broken bodies around. Yes. What's, um, what's the story with the robot? Does this mean anything? I don't know. Is this- I didn't ask... the Iron Giant on a bike, or what is this guy?
• 19:41
I wonder if it's because it was kind of down in that Iron Works district. Mm. Mm. And so somebody did this graphic for them. Yeah, I don't, I- But I don't- I meant to ask them-... know...
• 19:51
'cause it's on their teacher's ed- Yeah... it's a very cool graphic. It's b- it's been the logo the whole time. Yeah. Yeah, since the beginning, right? Yeah.
• 19:57
No- And then I thought there was gonna be- There's three of them... what do you call these things? This is a birdie. What's it called, that game? Badminton. Badminton. Badminton. And that's- Was that part of it?
• 20:03
That's- I as- assumed this was gonna be part of the decider. That's a, that's a, that's a cock. A cock, is it? They, they call it, like, a peacock? Peacock? No. The peacock, the birdie from badminton?
• 20:12
I don't think that's what they call it. Yes, it's called, like, a peacock or something. Yeah. No. I assumed this had to be the decider. That's why this thing was in there. No.
• 20:18
No, there was nothing that- N- nobody played with these at all?... was done with... No. Okay. [laughs] No, nobody said a thing about that. Um. Okay. Yeah, I'm not sure what that... What do they call those things?
• 20:31
Hang on. I'm looking it up. You guys talk. I'm gonna look it up. Well, it's a, a birdie, but, um... A birdie. No. That's what I think it was called. No, a s- But, but there's a t- technical, like, official- Yeah...
• 20:39
name for it. And, and, and it's got cock in it- Yeah... I know that. Yeah. Oh, okay. So- Yeah... okay. So while you're looking that up, I'll keep going. Yeah, you do that.
• 20:46
Um, yeah, so they're, I mean, the, they put on a really good event. It was fun. I mean, and, and you know me- Shuttlecock... shuttlecock, that's it. That's it. Yes. It's a shuttlecock. Shuttlecock. Okay.
• 20:56
Peacock is a pretty bird. 'Cause we were gonna- That's on a motorcycle... we're, we're, uh, 63 Club was gonna, one of us was gonna sponsor our shuttlecock team.
• 21:02
[laughs] And the, the girls just, alls they wanted was the T-shirt. They didn't give a shit. [laughs] Sounds about right. So- Yeah. Okay. [laughs] So it was, it was, I mean, the race went off well.
• 21:12
Everything went o- t- they got really lucky. Yeah. Like, they, it was supposed to start raining Friday night, and it didn't.
• 21:18
Well, it did late Friday night, but it, or, like, they had already said, "Show up at, at the, at the, uh, starting, the registration place.
• 21:25
Don't take your bikes out of your car, 'cause we're gonna drive to a park that we can ride in." Oh, okay. Yeah. But, but they, they didn't have to, so they, everything- Yeah...
• 21:31
it went on just like it was supposed to, where they, we rode where they were gonna ride. All, everything went well, because that part, like, got no rain at all. Yeah. And I can see why.
• 21:37
If that would've been wet, that would've been horrible. Mm. 'Cause it, so many off-camber rocks and stuff. It was, it was cool riding, but it's, yeah, that would've been rough to do. So it was logistically challenging.
• 21:47
Yeah. You had to drive and shit. Okay. Yeah, well, and I think that's just- Everywhere. They admitted it- Yeah...
• 21:50
we're, when I was talking to a couple different guys, they're going, "The only bad thing is we have to drive everywhere." Yeah.
• 21:54
You know, because if you wanna go, like I said, if you wanna go from one spot to the other, and, and every time you went someplace else, you found really cool stuff. Yeah. It's like there's cool shit all over that town.
• 22:02
We, uh, the, I still think the best place we're at, though, was the Friday night thing, because there was The Lunch Box, which was a weird little thing. Yeah. And right next to it was Weird Stuff Antiques.
• 22:13
This guy, the Kush. I could... If it wasn't 200 degrees inside there, I could've spent all day there. Like, I was gonna show you- The Kush? Huh? You call it The Kush? No, it was called Weird Stuff- Weird Stuff...
• 22:24
Antiques. Oh. Yeah. Okay. I could've stayed there, I could've stayed there. I thought it was something different. Okay. I could've stayed there forever, but it was damn hot inside there. Like, no AC in this. Yeah.
• 22:31
And it, going, like, going to an antique store with no AC, so it's just these walls and stuff full of- Oh... everything you can think of. I can smell it. That must've been great. [laughs] Yeah.
• 22:40
[laughs] He's got, and he's got, like, a semi-trailer backed up to it, and then this, like, cocked around the outside of it to keep that in there, and there was another room. Yeah.
• 22:46
And outside there, there was- Like, on both sides are cars and- What, what were you gonna buy? What did you wanna buy? I don't think I wanted to buy anything. Oh. Oh, no, the d- the dentist chair.
• 22:55
That's right, there was a dentist chair. I thought it would go well with the salon chairs. Yeah. [laughs] You need room for these things. I mean- [laughs] That's true... th- those take up space.
• 23:04
[laughs] Um, so yeah, so it was- It's old and it's small... then, and then, okay, so then we go to the next bar, which was called 9th & State. Yeah, but no, we went up the road first.
• 23:13
Oh, we went up to Fat, we went up to- Fat, Fat Matt's Vortex. Yeah. Yeah. We went up there first, that place. So that's where this whole mess started about haunted bars. Yes. Okay. So that one's supposedly haunted. Yeah.
• 23:24
Uh, Shannon's- Do you get drunk and see things? I mean, what- Shannon's, [laughs] Shannon's new best friend- Yes... the house is haunted. I made lots of friends. [laughs] Ghost friends?
• 23:31
[laughs] No, lots of just friends in general. Okay. But yeah, she was, she was telling me about going down to Kentucky to the holler where she's from- Oh, okay...
• 23:39
and bringing her colored, um, son-in-law with her, and I'm like, "Okay." [laughs] I'm like, "Back to the ghosts." [laughs] Like... But no, she was super nice, but she, she was a little- Yeah... I don't know.
• 23:51
She's had something going on. And then, and then, and then we go down the other one down the hill, and that one's supposedly haunted. And then, I think you guys looked it up, and there's like- Yeah...
• 23:57
they do, they do- There's a bunch of them... haunted bar tours. Around Halloween. Yeah, in Kansas City. And do you just tell a story of somebody who died in a bar, or like, what's the kind of- Oh.
• 24:04
Oh, no, that one bartender swears to God that, that there is a ghost on the stage in that bar. Oh, really? Yeah. In, in 9th or- Yeah. Yeah... yeah, in 9th and State.
• 24:12
But the one that we were in, the Fat Matt's Vortex, was a crematorium, and then it was a grocery store, and then it was a, a Funeral home? Yes.
• 24:23
Well- Or something, or maybe- Somewhere there was a funeral home, yeah, yeah... yes, somewhere. And so there's creepy shit in the basement, I guess. Hmm. But it's, um- Cool...
• 24:31
used by some bike club, so nobody can go down there. Oh, oh, it's... Is that their clubhouse? Yeah. Oh. Hmm. Yeah, I know what that's like. Yeah. It's a... But yeah, so that place was fun.
• 24:41
I mean, every place we went to was fun. The people were super friendly. Yeah. The riding was hot, so- Very hot... you, you really can't say if it was fun or not, 'cause it was just too hot for it to be fun. I...
• 24:50
We didn't go, we didn't go on the Friday night let out cruise, but that's where Jolly broke his arm, uh, JP screwed up his leg on a bridge. I think s- I thought somebody else did something around there too.
• 25:00
Somebody else ran into those- Oh, yeah... those big- So-... like, bike wheels at the entrance of the trail.
• 25:04
You know, like, how when you're, when you're over in Milwaukee and you're, we're, we're doing the thing, and you're going across that bridge? Um, do, you do the serpentine down over by it? Yeah.
• 25:13
And then you go across that bridge? That cool little part. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, imagine sticking little skinny penny-farthing bikes, but, but tall, full-sized ones, but the bars are wire.
• 25:23
They're like, you know, like, pencil-sized wire on it. Sure. And then putting, putting them facing each other so it kind of closes off part of it, and you just go through the middle of it.
• 25:31
Yeah, like- And putting it at both ends... yeah... and then riding it dar- at night. You don't see those things. Ooh. And somebody plowed face first into one of them.
• 25:38
[laughs] And it was funny because- Which we called it... [laughs] yeah. We totally called it. Yep. We were riding... As we're riding back into town, we're going, "Oh, this is not gonna be good.
• 25:45
If they do this tonight, somebody's gonna go face first into this." And I'm sure shit, somebody did. Sure thing. Somebody did? Yeah, yeah. [laughs] Hmm. Yeah, so but, but that bar was fun too because- Yeah...
• 25:55
the, the, the little bartender was a hoot. Um, she knew Zeke. Yeah. So she was all over the T-shirts- The shirts... we did for him and, and all, giving all that crap out to him. Yeah. She, she was all over that.
• 26:06
And then she was really into the ghost thing. Yes. Like, she was, she swears to God- Swears by them... yeah, the... I think she's the one that said there's one on their stage. Yes. On the second floor, right? Yes. Yeah.
• 26:15
Yes, and there's- So-... something in the basement and then something in the- Had I been there a week longer-... storage...
• 26:20
or had I been known this beforehand, I would've Amazoned all that stuff you see on Ghost Hunters stor- shows.
• 26:26
I'd have had the whole thing, you know, the thing with the, all the little, uh, tell the ghost to talk to you, and the light moves up. The creepy things, yeah. I'd have had all that shit.
• 26:32
We'd have been setting it up in there. We'd have done a séance. We'd have done something. [laughs] I'd have been all over that crap. That's funny. I'm so hooked on those shows, it's ridiculous. I don't watch those ones.
• 26:40
I watch the ancient alien stuff. Oh, yeah? That's pretty good too, yeah. Yeah. So yeah, so the, the weekend was good. How many pe- how many people do you think? 126 they said. Yeah. Okay. Which, again, isn't bad.
• 26:51
Um, we went to two bike shops on Fridays, and they were a little pissed off because they were never told about it. Oh. But I, but I, I'm going back to, I think because of their poor standing, they kept it pretty low-key.
• 27:04
I mean, it was out there on the web, but you know, um, South was trying to get them to help take care of the website. They never used Facebook page at all. They barely... Yeah. Yeah.
• 27:11
Yeah, there's like- I mean, they, they-... one or two posts and that was it... yeah, yeah. Yeah. So they... But my assumption is, is they're, they're trying to fly under the radar, and they did a really good job. Yeah.
• 27:18
Those of us that went there, it was awesome. That makes sense though. Yeah. Because if, yeah, if they posted too much, then people would've said, "Hey, they're gonna be here at this time." Yeah. "Here, send the cops."
• 27:27
[laughs] And the, and bike- [laughs] And the... [laughs] Well, the bike shop guys are like, well, Greg, the one, the second one we went into, um, he's, he comes and sits down.
• 27:34
Uh, Shannon and I met, uh, Zeke for coffee the ne- on Friday morning. S- So you did see Zeke? Yes. Saturday morning, Saturday morning. Saturday morning. Yeah. Good for breakfast.
• 27:42
And then, and his buddy comes in there, and he [laughs] he, he sits down next to us. He goes, "Yeah, he has a problem riding his bike," was Zeke too, 'cause he always crashed.
• 27:49
So he lifts up his arm, and he's got it all bandaged up. Yep. And then- And then th- he stands up, and he's got a... [laughs] Is it that Zeke? His calf is all wrapped. That Zeke? Yeah. The same Zeke? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
• 27:58
So, so that story, so years ago, a long time ago, Zeke has lived in Kansas City. And been a bike mechanic down there for as long as I've known him.
• 28:06
And he got drunk one night and had a really bad bike accident, lost use of his eye, and was in the hospital for a long time, and they didn't have any money, and so, you know, he doesn't have any insurance.
• 28:16
So I, I think it was Nick Sandy or somebody like that set up a Go- it wasn't GoFundMe. It was some weird... And I can... Nobody can think of the name of it.
• 28:24
There was a, there was an online company that you could buy a T-shirt. It was a white T-shirt, and they put something on it. It was l- it was less expensive. I think, I don't...
• 28:33
They might have been paying three bucks a shirt and were charging whatever, and that, rest of that money went to a fund for Zeke- Okay... to, to help- Medical... with his medical bills, right? Zeke never got a T-shirt.
• 28:43
Oh. And then, I mean, people from all over the world bought them. And he never got one. And he never got one. So he said he, he got some from other events that people did kind of the same thing. Sure.
• 28:51
But that, whoever did that first one, that, it's, it's... I call it my lawnmowing shirt. [laughs] I cut the sleeves off it and stuff, and I use it when I mow the lawn. Um, so we...
• 29:01
And, and so then I don't know how he even came up with the idea. I'm like, "I should make... We should do those T-shirts again." And then I called Sav, 'cause Sav makes his shirts down there for- His store, yeah. Yeah.
• 29:12
So I give Sav a call, and he's like, "Ooh," you know. And I [laughs]... And we debated about the whole thing, 'cause he, Zeke just had another bad bike accident.
• 29:20
And then I think he's also, on top of his bad bike accident, he just had a bad walking accident too. [laughs] He did. [laughs] So, so Sav dug out his tools. And I'll make a... We'll send a picture.
• 29:29
And he made this ni- the vi- the nylon, what do they call it, vinyl prints? Vinyl, yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's a piece of vinyl that you carve out, and it says Save Zeke Again? Yeah. In question marks.
• 29:40
With a question mark, yeah. Did you get your phone? Yeah. We'll hold it up. Okay. I'll do this. You, you hold that up, I'll hold this up. Okay. Got it. Perfect. All right. Okay. Yeah, so, so w- so I was on my way down.
• 29:54
That was Wednesday, right? Yeah. So I came down Wednesday, and he's already got that carved out. Um, I w- I, I, I used my rotary connections and got it [laughs] got, got a good- My rotary connections.
• 30:07
[laughs] Got a sweet deal, got a sweet deal on six T-shirts. [laughs] I thought you were never joining that cult. I didn't, I just used their, like, used the benefits to- You just, you just take advantage of it. Yeah.
• 30:15
Yeah. And then we, and then we ran it over to Zeke, and Zeke air it to us. And he's so funny. He's got this all carved out and ready to go, and he's practiced on pieces of paper, and it's all perfect, you know.
• 30:24
So he puts on his vest, you know, his little leather- Leather apron... apron that he wears. Yeah. Yeah, and he gets all ready to do it, and all of a sudden he goes Need a beer?
• 30:31
[laughs] So then that went south in a hurry. Yeah. So yeah, so then he, he rolled out six of those, and we hung them up, and it was... That was perfect. Yeah. I mean, they looked awesome.
• 30:39
And then, so the question between him and I was, he just crashed again. Is this gonna be a, a bad taste joke if we do it? So I said, "Uh, maybe I'll just go there, and I'll go in and ask him first."
• 30:51
And I, when I get there, we said [laughs] we were sitting in the car in the front of the place. I was like, "Go fuck it, just put them on. Let's go."
• 30:57
[laughs] So we walk in, and don't forget, Zeke only has one eye, right? So I walk in, I go, "Hey." And he's just like, "What can I do for you?" And he's looking at me with the wrong eye.
• 31:05
[laughs] And then, and then he says it again, "What can I do for you?" "What can I do..." Yeah. [laughs] Like- And I'm like, "You don't remember me"... you stand everything up.
• 31:10
I go, I go, "You don't remember me, do you?" And, uh, in all honesty and all fairness, we haven't seen each other in 10 years. Okay. We talk on Facebook and stuff all the time, but we haven't seen each other in 10 years.
• 31:19
I saw that. Yeah. And so, and so he goes, "Oh." And then we start talking, and it comes to him, and he's all good. And I, we had the T-shirts on, and he didn't see the again part.
• 31:27
He just saw the Save Zeke, and he, he was all over that. He was really... And then, and then immediately I go, "You want one?" He goes, "Yeah." And then so Shannon runs out and gets him a shirt and brings it in.
• 31:35
He was so proud. Yeah. He puts it on a hanger and hangs it right on his bicycle stand. [laughs] Oh. [laughs] It was, it was- And immediately posted to Facebook. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
• 31:43
It was, it was pretty fun, and he was pretty happy, 'cause that's what he said. He goes, "I never got one of, one from my first accident." So that was pretty cool. Yeah. And it was, it was pretty good gag.
• 31:50
So now, oh, he won't hear this anyway, he won't listen, but, um- [laughs] The, the little bartender that was so funny, I said, "Oh, our buddy Zeke sent us down here."
• 31:59
And she goes, "Oh, I just kicked him out the other night 'cause he gets a little too obnoxious," and she boots him out. And she's like five foot- Teeny tiny... four foot nothing, you know, and Zeke is probably 6'3".
• 32:09
And, and so she, she [laughs] so we gave her one of the T-shirts, and she has it there. So whoever's working, he walks in, they check on the Save Zeke T-shirt. [laughs] [laughs] It worked out. Oh, good stuff.
• 32:21
Another, another one of those... Yeah, and so Sav was the same way. He's like, "I'm, I'm texting Sav," and it's on Facebook.
• 32:26
It's like, um, Zeke posted out there with a shirt, and then so Sav quick puts his on down at the shop. [laughs] What is- And he has pictures that he did? Yeah. [laughs] I can't... What did he say?
• 32:34
Um, something about I wonder where you, you guys got that idea or something. Or the other- Something like that... or, yeah. Yeah, something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you know- Yeah... in Sav, in Sav language. Yes.
• 32:42
He was, he was on a roll on Wednesday. He was funny as shit. He is. He's never not on a roll. [clears throat] True, yeah. Very true.
• 32:49
In fact, in fact, that whole business started there, which went back to the Kansas City guys being little pricks again. Yeah.
• 32:54
And they were bitching about how much it cost, and that they got screwed in Copper Harbor, and blah blah blah, you know, and that stuff. And so, and so, so we're sitting with Sav talking.
• 33:03
He goes- The Kansas City guy, that's... But yeah, okay. He... And so he wants... He's like, "I kinda wanna go. Now I really wanna go." [laughs] [laughs] What, they're bitching about it? Well, it was weird.
• 33:15
That was 10 years ago. No, that was- It was, it was 2015... nine years ago. No. Yeah, we said it was 2015 because in the 2016- It was, it was 2014, 'cause 2015 was Levis. That was Wisconsin. That was after Michigan.
• 33:26
So that was the second time they didn't win, and then that's when they got pissy about it.
• 33:28
It was, it was Minnesota, and then Michigan won in Hammerschlag, and, and then it was the bucket wrestling thing up in Copper- Right... which I was not a part of. Neither were you. [laughs] No.
• 33:35
But- No, but we're still being accused of fixing it. In fact, Surly Bicycle is being accused of fixing Single Speed Worlds and s- Surly's not here... Single Speed USA. Yep. No, they don't... There's, there isn't a Surly.
• 33:48
There's Paul Ziegel as the head of it, and then everybody else is just an employee of QBP. There's not Surly employees anymore. None of them? No.
• 33:55
Well, and any- and anybody you knew, and, and especially anybody I knew, none of them- They're not there anymore... no, none of them are. Yeah, Ziegel's the only one. Yeah.
• 34:01
And so, uh, so I was like, I just kept telling him, "So, so, okay, so-" And we don't work for Surly, just so you know. No. Yeah. [laughs] No. Oh, they- We're just fanboys... they, they basically...
• 34:11
I'm not, I know what, I'm not gonna say the guy's name, 'cause it, because he has a business. He's in the bike industry, and I'm not gonna call him out by...
• 34:18
Because he, if I say his name, then everybody'll know what it is. But he's like, he's like cocksucking me because I'm one of the ones that screw it up. And I'm like,
• 34:26
"You guys, you guys decide before it even starts who's gonna, who's gonna go. What are you talking about? Because we can do stupid shit and drink beer, and you guys can't? That doesn't mean we fixed it.
• 34:36
We're just good at being dumb." [laughs] We just drink all the time. Yeah, and, and they're just- We drink way more, I guess would be the thing, and way more stupid bar, stupid bar games.
• 34:44
I was gonna say, I was thinking today, and it's unrelated to the hosting necessarily, but I think that belt has spent the most time in Iowa. Yeah. Iowa guy won it this time. Iowa guy won it last year.
• 34:54
Ken Barker's had it. I've had it twice. Yeah. That's six? Yeah. Am I, am I doing math? Is that five? I don't know. Close enough. I mean, well, and then, and like I said- I'm doing Chewie math...
• 35:04
and this is showing- Take another drink. Take ano- [laughs] Have another drink. Yeah. Well, I, I, and I'm not... I, I, I wanna go through it first because it was really fun down there- It was... until Saturday night.
• 35:14
Yeah. So they ruined it with the bitching after? No, that was just me. I, I mean, they just ruined it for me. They didn't ruin it for anybody else. Yeah. I don't think anybody else got involved in it other than me.
• 35:21
Well, no, the whole fucking clan was around me. I was waiting for banjo music to start up at any moment. [laughs] But they're fucking, you fucking hillbillies. [laughs] [laughs] But, but- But you made it out alive. Yeah.
• 35:34
No, you know what, and the, and, and they, they settled it. They had their hosting contest that we didn't wanna do, and, and Seth was fantastic and just said, "Fine, whatever happens," he's okay with it.
• 35:44
And, and yeah, everything was fine, but it was just like, it totally ruined the evening for me. And so, and then I had to go catch up with everybody else, who by the way left to go, "Hey, we're gonna go have a beer."
• 35:52
And the next time I see them, "Ah, ah, ah," screaming, mooning cars downtown. It's like, yeah. [laughs] I'm sure glad I sat there and listened to that bullshit for an hour and a half while you guys all had fun.
• 36:02
[laughs] Yeah, yeah. But it, but it's okay, 'cause it's all my fault. Okay. So I took, I took the bla- It's your fault.
• 36:07
I took the blame so you could stay home and go to a wedding, and who else, who else bailed on me in that mess? Not my first choice, I'm sorry. [laughs] But no, I mean- No, it's all right. It was fine.
• 36:16
It was, it was- I, I debated driving down there. I really did... and, and we- And I was just like, I'm just too hungover to drive that far. Uh- And we really, and we really, when we left, we were having a conversation.
• 36:26
Okay. I mean, so it's not like, it wasn't like, it wasn't like- We got over it... we'll never talk to each other again. Yeah.
• 36:29
I may never talk to them again, just because the more I thought about it, I was like, but- If they were bitching about last year's, is that what it was? So yeah, so, so- Yeah.
• 36:37
I can explain that quick Yeah, go ahead Just how- Yeah, 'cause I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna text Seth because he's riding in Bentonville, and he did say...
• 36:44
Seth did say he would come on, but, uh, let's just let him relax and have fun. No, well, I can... As far as I can remember the story, um, we had the coloring contest, and we asked who wanted to be in, and we only...
• 36:54
I think we only got three teams that we even wanted to go for hosting. Yeah, right Uh, Colorado, Kansas City, and then New England.
• 37:01
Um, and then Jake lost for Colorado 'cause he couldn't follow the coloring book instructions. [laughs] [laughs] And then it came down to Seth in Kansas City, and I had... I made those axes, those throwing hatchets. Yep.
• 37:15
Yeah. And we were gonna throw those, uh, so the chain rings cut into hatchets. Um, but they didn't stick, and I just didn't get the balance right. The heads weren't heavy enough. The chain ring wasn't heavy enough.
• 37:25
So it was like, okay, we can try throwing these inside the gym and fuck up the floor, or since Seth just hosted, I mean- Yeah, makes sense... Kansas City makes sense. They're, they brought a shit ton of guys.
• 37:38
There was like eight of them here. Like, that, that's kinda how that worked out. I don't know. Yeah. Does that make sense? Makes complete sense. I feel like that's fair. [laughs] Yep. No, that's exactly how it went.
• 37:47
Yeah. Yeah, so that... What the fuck? Yeah. They're mad they hosted? Yeah. Sound like they did a good job. Exactly. What are we talking about here? I don't know. And they, and they didn't wanna listen to reason.
• 37:56
It's like, we've been doing this for, well, uh, Seth was- Well, Candy especially, she was- Yeah... just not having it. Well, and, yeah. So Candy wanted to take it to, for, to...
• 38:03
I think it was Dan who wants to run it in California. He wasn't there, so they were gonna try to win it for him. Um, Matt, um, Whitman, who eventually did win it, wanted to take it to Colorado. He's been to all these.
• 38:13
He's never even mentioned it before. So I'm like, "Look, last year-" Does he live in Colorado? He lives in Or- Oregon, doesn't he? Oh, he's in Co- he's back in Colorado now. Oh, he's back in Colorado. Okay. Yeah.
• 38:22
And actually, and actually, um, I'm only gonna say one nice thing about him right now, is that he will probably put on a good event. Okay. And there, and there, and I think- I believe that...
• 38:29
and I think he does white water rafting, too, so there's gonna be like coo- where it's gonna be at is gonna be a cool place, I think. Well, that seems rigged for him 'cause he is a pretty good-looking guy.
• 38:37
Oh, oh, I'm g- [laughs] Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. No shit, right? [laughs] So, so they, they... So, uh, back to our argument. [laughs] I'm like, "I don't care."
• 38:44
They're like, after they get done blaming me for rigging it and cheating for somebody else and all this other crap, I'm going, "You think we wanna put these things on like three, four times? No.
• 38:52
We're the ones that, 'Okay, there's only one team in it. We'll go up against them,' and then we win. Fuck. Now we gotta put it on again. Where do you wanna do it?" type of thing, right? Mm-hmm.
• 38:59
And, and I'll tell you, nobody in the world believes that you and I, after w- after you won it in Maine- Mm-hmm...
• 39:06
and we drove back from Maine, you and I drove back from Maine, the discussion was, "We can't have it in Decorah." Yeah. We were trying to think Dubuque. We're, we're, we're like, he's like, he's- Yeah...
• 39:13
you're back in town, you're on the fire department, you're, you're, you're looking at jobs in town, and he's like, "I, I, I, I..." Right. You know? And I'm like... And we're like, "Okay, Mason City, Dubuque, we..."
• 39:22
all that stuff. We're going through all this stuff, and they're, they're n- they were having fucking none of it. Oh, really? Oh, no, we rigged it. Oh.
• 39:29
Well- And then we, and then we rigged it so it c- so that Kansas City could get it, and then we rigged it so the next year so that, that N- And I'm like, I, I- The- I s- I sat like this 15 fucking times.
• 39:38
And it was the same conversation, like over and over- Constantly... and over and over again... I keep telling it over and over again.
• 39:41
And this, the, and this other guy comes out, and then I have to tell him the same thing, and again and again. And then I look over my shoulder, and I've got all these people standing behind me waiting to lynch me.
• 39:51
And I'm like- What the fuck?... "What the..." Yeah. And I'm like, I'm like, "Okay," so I said- That's when I'm like, "Bye-bye." [laughs] I'm like... And then they go. And so Whitman gets, Whitman gets...
• 39:57
And I like Matt a lot, but Whitman gets carried away. He's like, "So you're ready to give it up?" It's not mine. I said, "If it's anybody's, it's DJ's. He started it, but it's not ours to give."
• 40:05
I said, I finally got, I finally lost my shit. I said, "Look, you wanna have a mul- like, a SingleSpeed USA, call it SingleSpeed USA and run it in fucking Colorado, and nobody's gonna care." Mm.
• 40:13
And then I said, then I said, "Seth, you can run the one that we assigned to you," and battled it out that way. That would be- And then, oh, that w- then-... really exciting, too...
• 40:20
and then, and then, and then, and then the argument came in, "Well, nobody wants to go to New England 'cause it's too far away." Mm.
• 40:25
And we're like, "Well, then it's not a USA thing if we're just gonna do it on the West Coast where you idiots live." Yeah. [laughs] So, so anyway- It's better...
• 40:32
we, [laughs] so that was- I was gonna say really quick, the only one that I kind of tried to rig was Wisconsin when, uh, uh, you on the Texas team against- Oh...
• 40:41
Pennsylvania for roller derby, and I thought you would win because you could skate, and then you didn't win anyway. [laughs] All right. Yeah, no, that one, that one was rigged 'cause I was good.
• 40:49
When I got tackled by 15 people so I couldn't pass Doug again, we knew there was a ro- [laughs] That's funny. Oh, Gaba Habit, Doug. Yeah, that was funny. Yeah. But it, but they- No, I guess-...
• 40:59
they just don't, they just don't- Why does it matter that much? Oh, it does. Well, and that's just it. I think you were inside talking to some people, and everybody's like, "We don't care who it is.
• 41:06
Just tell us where to go." Yeah. Which is basically what I'm getting down to. We, we've done this for 15 years. We don't have to do the deciders.
• 41:13
It's hard for the people putting on the race to figure out the deciders, what they wanna do, come up with something- Yeah... new, different, and fun, and exciting, and it's hard to get people to do them. Yeah.
• 41:21
So they're, so it's just, if you have people that wanna run it, and it's not like 20 people wanna run this next year. You may have a guy or two. Right. So you go, "Hey, you wanna do it next year?"
• 41:29
And you do it the year after, that's fine, you know? But they, they were having none of that. It was rigged. Yeah. And then, so then they go, "Okay." I'm like, "I don't care. Seth is sitting right here.
• 41:39
If he agrees to have a, a contest, have a contest for it. Have, have a decider set up, just..." And, and, and they go, "Okay, you gonna run?" I'm like, "I'm not running it. The host runs it." Yeah, the host runs it.
• 41:49
So you know what they did? A push-up contest. They had, they had- So they didn't have anything in place... Wisconsin, it was, so Dusty went for Wisconsin, Dusty Marsch went for Wisconsin. Yep. They had Wisconsin,
• 41:58
Colorado, uh, California, and, um, and New England. And then, so I didn't find this out until later that night, 'cause I wouldn't go in. I'm not gonna go watch. I'm not going to the microphone.
• 42:10
I'm not talking to anybody. Fuck you guys. And, 'cause we're, I said, "'Cause we really haven't figured anything out yet," and they just kept going, "Well, this is what we're gonna do."
• 42:16
So they went in there, they did that, they did a push-up contest. And for some reason, Whitman was around the corner doing his push-ups, so nobody really saw him doing his push-ups.
• 42:24
And then, and then they did this addition, and all of a sudden Colorado wins. So it's like, "You fuckers, you rigged it for yourselves, so don't ever come back at me with that shit again." Yeah. So, you know.
• 42:33
And like, again, I, again, I... It doesn't matter. That's, that's almost the fun part about this, because, because there's a certain group of people that bitch every year. They don't like anything we do.
• 42:43
Then stop fucking coming. Yeah. You know, it, it, [laughs] when he said, when he said it's a culture [laughs] He goes, he... I was, I was slow to, I was slow to the draw on this one.
• 42:55
And they go, "We're talking about the, how we changed it. We changed the just get rid of the decider, and just if somebody wants it, just try to assign it to somebody so we can kinda like get on with other shit." Well,
• 43:06
yeah, there's... Th- th- this is how it has to be done. These are the rules, right? Two minutes before that they go, "This is fucking mountain biking. This is single speed racing, and there's no rules."
• 43:15
So me being slow to the draw, I'm like going, "Well, you just fixed it right there. If it's single speed racing and there's no rules, I can tell whoever I want to be to run it next, so fuck you."
• 43:24
And I didn't think about it till this morning. [laughs] 'Cause, because- You won that argument on the drive home? Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Uh, no, when I was pacing about 6:00- The beer pong was like a little heavy... yeah.
• 43:33
I got it. I'm good. Do we gotta tell, we gotta tell them that we're drinking Spotted Cow? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's right. Oh. What? I know we didn't bring any back from Kansas City, did we?
• 43:40
[laughs] You didn't bring any beer? Oh. We didn't bring... No, we didn't bring any back from Kansas City. We drank it all. We, we had a lot of good beer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There was a lot of good beer in Kansas City.
• 43:48
Yeah. God, I'm being nice to him again. This just pisses me off. [sighs] So anyway, so, so next year- Well, hopefully they got it out- So, yeah... and they feel better, and they're... you did the therapy session.
• 43:55
Yeah, yeah. And now they're fucking fine, and everything's right with us next year. And they... No, I think they like the arguing. I really do.
• 44:00
[laughs] I think, I think, I think they, they just, they just want to do that every time, 'cause it's the same stupid argument every time. But so it's gonna be harder- I'm gonna bring it up next year.
• 44:08
I'm like, "Remember when Kansas City got fucked?" [laughs] Oh, no. [laughs] Just start shit. And I'd be like, "Who wants another beer?" Then I'm gonna walk away.
• 44:17
[laughs] [laughs] That, that's all you gotta do, and then- [laughs]... then it just, it just turns into this little beehive. [laughs] Hopefully I can go next year. It, it... I hate to miss it.
• 44:28
It was my first one I missed since Minnesota, so this'll be- I'm a little worried... 10 years. I'm a little worried about when he's gonna do it, because I'm not sure what...
• 44:34
I, I w- I can't imagine that he'd wanna do it during his peak, um, season for, for working out there, 'cause I would think it'd be really- For Whitewater? Yeah. I would think it'd be really hard to do. Oh.
• 44:43
I don't, I don't know. I, I, I... It was kinda weird because [laughs] What, what town would it be in? Oh, he said it. I didn't... I don't remember. Lake Geneva. Is it like where he lives? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Okay.
• 44:51
Well, I don't know. Ask Dusty, 'cause Dusty's already g- [laughs] Dusty's already got a place to stay. Oh, shit. Oh, that's right. Yeah.
• 44:57
[laughs] I think I talked to Dustin March more yesterday, last night, than I have talked to him in the entire time I've known the guy. Oh. He was a, just a chatterbox last night. He's funnier than heck.
• 45:05
And [laughs] oh, yeah. Oh, you're right. He didn't bring his wife and the tandem. Oh, oh, by the way, and they were getting cocksucker too. Oh, were they? Because they had the tandem out there. What?
• 45:12
[laughs] They rode the ta- they rode the tandem in the derby. [laughs] And I'm like, "You're the easiest thing to take out. You don't-" Yeah... "you don't go for the captain.
• 45:20
You get the stoker 'cause the captain doesn't see what's coming, and they go down in a heartbeat." [laughs] Uh, no, they were all pissed off about that run. Just run into that front wheel on that thing of a bike. Yeah.
• 45:28
I mean, there's so much weight back there. Yeah. [laughs] Come on. But, but it was just like, "Oh my God, you guys." They're just something... Oh. Okay. Yeah. Whatever.
• 45:34
But, but you know the thing they did that was interesting, and it worked out, and I thought it was... At first I thought, "Ooh, that's gonna cause problems," but it was really good.
• 45:40
They had everybody doing the derby at one time. Like 129 people? [laughs] No, the ones that would do it. The other one. That's the other thing. You don't- Yeah...
• 45:46
you don't get 40 people out there doing the derby anymore. You get 10, you know, and then... And there wasn't that many women that raced. Maybe five. Yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't- So it was a, it was a derby for the belt?
• 45:55
Yeah, it was a derby for the belt. Um, uh, Berkey's buddy, uh- Uh, s- uh, we'll say Ernie... Ernie... yeah, Er- Ernie, Ernie won- Ernie getting it in with the women... Ernie won the belt. Yeah. Okay.
• 46:03
And- Which is good because they fell down together, and Burkhardt fell on top of him last year... that's what it was. I was trying... Remember I told you they were one and two? That's what happened. Ah.
• 46:10
I almost wanted to do it again, but I looked underneath, and Burkhardt, his handlebar was touching the ground, and his ass was on the seat, and his ankle wasn't even touching the ground. Like his- Really?...
• 46:20
pedal was touching the ground, but his body was off the ground. [laughs] I'm like, "Oh, fuck. He just fucking won it." [laughs] There you go. [laughs] And I, I...
• 46:27
Do you remember who wo- I think it was a local gal that won the women's, right? I don't know. But the thing that's interesting was- Candy, Candy won the women's. Oh, you're saying from there. No. No, this year. Yeah.
• 46:33
Yeah. Okay. But the cool, the cool thing was it was that they were, they're, th- so they did everybody together, and I'm thinking, "Oh, that's not gonna be a good idea."
• 46:39
Um, they, you know, you get belts for first male, first female. They just put everybody together. It wound up first and second. The guy got first, uh, Ernie got first, and the, and the gal, lo- local gal got second.
• 46:50
In the what? In, in the derby. In the derby. In the derby. Yeah, yeah. So, so he, Ernie must have took her out at the end. So that was, that's how they did it. Oh. Everybody together.
• 46:57
I don't think it's a ba- at first I thought it was a really dumb idea. I don't think it's a bad idea. Hmm. Well, I, the dudes can get aggressive. I don't know. Uh, nobody really does anymore I don't think. Okay.
• 47:08
You know? So I think- I would. [laughs] Just, just you. Just you. Hey, I've seen a little gal knock Sağr right off his bike, too, so that's, it, it can be done, so [laughs] Yeah. Huh. So yeah, so that worked out well.
• 47:19
So they got the belts. Um- And there were no buckles? DJ didn't bring them or just said no? I don't... No. DJ wasn't there. No. I haven't heard anything about the buckles, and they knew nothing about them.
• 47:27
So we could be out of buckles. Oh. Because, because the buckles were- I do think he said that. Yeah. I think he said last ones last year. Yeah. And I think then they're go...
• 47:34
They're, and they've gotten way more expensive, so I don't think we're doing buckles anymore. Oh. But it sounds like they also said they made almost $10,000 for their bike trails. No shit. What?
• 47:43
Yeah, so they, so they're co- th- th- th- Well, they charged 100 bucks a person. Yeah. Well, and I thought for 100 bucks a person it wasn't bad, because we got tons of shit. Yeah. But at the same time, um, if they
• 47:52
had sponsors and other people doing other things so that they were able to give most of that- Yeah... well, they figured 126 people, they gave, um, uh, they must've got sponsorship. And then they, and they gave...
• 48:03
They have $10,000 to put back into trail maintenance. Yeah. So it's like you guys- It's very cool... are awesome. Yeah. Yeah. That's very cool. You gonna get them back on the good side? Well- [laughs]... yeah, I'm, I...
• 48:13
Well, the, I think they got a lot of work to do from the sounds of it. I mean- Yeah... and, uh, to their own admittance. They, they, you know, they just got shit to do. But yeah, it was, it was- It was better...
• 48:20
it was a totally worthwhile trip though. Yeah. I- 'Cause we lo- we, we lost money on Iowa. Yeah. Yeah. We made money on Wisconsin, though. We made like- We, we gave-... 2,600 or 20- We gave 2,600 to Levis...
• 48:30
gave it to Levis, yeah... to the Levis Mountain- Yeah... Trail crew. Yeah. So but yeah, I still got cups. I should've sent those cups down there with you. Oh. Sent the Grizzly cups that are left over. Yeah.
• 48:38
Well, if we sell those cups- Send the cups down to the cab... you break even then. Yeah, we gotta stay in the b- red. [laughs] We... No. Uh, stop fixing things so we quit losing money with you, you asshole.
• 48:49
[laughs]We had, uh, um, unguaranteed expenses or whatever happen at the Elks. Yeah. Whatever the fuck. Yeah. Yeah, because actually take, we get rid of that, we did break even. Yeah. Probably would be, yeah. Yeah.
• 49:01
Probably break even, but that's fine. That's fine. I'm good. But- No, so okay. Yeah. Colorado next year. Colorado next year.
• 49:07
I don't know dates or anything, our hats- Our hats did say- Um- Our hats last year said it was better next year. Yep. Was it better? Uh, no. Okay. [laughs] No. And, and you know, and, and they admitted it.
• 49:17
Like, like- The tacos were good. The tacos were really good. The tacos were great. Well, wait, if we wanna talk food, no, it was better. We had- Yeah. I, I- I don't remember what we had...
• 49:24
I sweated out 10 pounds in riding, and put on 15 in eating. Yeah. [laughs] Were there port-a-potties on this trail, or how did that- Nope. [laughs] No, no. No.
• 49:33
Uh, but it was, it was a- Just sweaty ball sweat and a bunch of dudes in the woods- Oh, God, here we go again... just eating barbecue.
• 49:38
[laughs] There, this was, this was, this was last night's 11:00 conversation with a guy in a kilt and his sweaty balls. [laughs] Don't bring that shit up again.
• 49:44
[laughs] If I was r- I would, yeah, not [laughs] remember it. Oh, I wish I had a kilt on last night, I'll be honest with you. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It would've been like, "This is the greatest- Yeah... thing in the world."
• 49:51
Oh, so we went for a walk. Yes. So we closed up... So we, we did, the way we always take care of this shit, we, we, we got back there, we had food, got in a big fight, arguments. We walked down to a bar.
• 50:04
No, these guys had already got kicked out of that one, so we had to move down to the next one.
• 50:07
[laughs] They didn't like that bar, so this, this 13-year-old tells these clowns that the best dive bar is called The Sandtrap, and it's three blocks away. [laughs] And a block, and that town is a mile and a half long.
• 50:17
Yeah. So eight of us, 10 of us- Yeah... started walking, and every time we'd see another bar, somebody would have a excuse not to go in that one, so we didn't. So we get all the way up to The Sandtrap- And it's closed...
• 50:28
and it's closed. [laughs] And we're like, "[groans]." [laughs] So there's a, there's a Mexican restaurant. There's a little Mexican cantina restaurant. [laughs] And all of us pile in, and they're like, "Oh."
• 50:36
And we're like, "We're just drinking. No, we don't need any food." [groans] We sent, we sent, we sent the leader in to get us in there, so she schmoozed the gal to get us in there.
• 50:44
We drank five pitchers of mar- margaritas and then left. [laughs] Nothing wrong with that. No. [laughs] No, it was a good time. Hmm. Okay.
• 50:52
But the walk over there was h- Yeah, that was a little very- It was hot, sweaty, and- Yeah... actually funny as shit. Sorry I missed that. Yeah. We sto- Oh, w- uh, then we had to stop and watch a train go by. Mm.
• 51:03
About as close to the tracks as you could get type of thing, and, uh, God, it was... But it was perfect. And then we got back. Well, so we walked all the way back. [laughs] No, actually, we got in a van. Yes.
• 51:11
And got, ran right back to the- We got a van ride... to the original host bar, and they were closed. So we're like [laughs] I- so we- What time is it? What time do bars close down there? Well, I don't know. It depends.
• 51:20
It's weird. Yeah. Like- I feel like they would never close in Kansas City. I don't know. Well, these are, like, little- Jesus... like- It is a Bible Belt town, isn't it? Kansas City? Is it? Yeah. Oh.
• 51:31
I don't know, but sure acted like it when I was talking to them. Well, the host location was supposed to be from 5:00 until 11:00. Yeah. And we got back there at 10:00, and the door was locked. Yep.
• 51:38
And there was this bitchy woman who was like, "Mm-mm." Wow. So we're like, "All right, bye-bye." They... So this is how good the band was, and I will say the band was good. Uh,
• 51:47
they were told to turn it down before the first song was done. And it wasn't Black Owls, so it wasn't, uh- No. No, no, no. Yeah. No, um, that was D- Dave Just Brought His Stickers With.
• 51:56
He's, he's actually playing this weekend, and I can't figure out how I'm gonna fly down and see it. I'd really like to. Where at? Uh, in Ohio some place. Hmm. Hmm. What is making that noise? It's Puppy. It's Hannah.
• 52:08
I don't know where she's at. She's in the bed. If she's coming... Is she stuck somewhere? Oh, she's just laying in there. Oh, maybe she's lonely. Yep, so it was a, that was a good trip. Um, what's coming up next? Um.
• 52:22
Milwaukee. Oh, yeah. I know it's g- what- For me- Can, well, can you go to Milwaukee? I can. Now, you, well, this weekend's gonna be pretty tough for everybody to get their shit together to go.
• 52:33
I can, not that, uh- What about the, what about the weekend after? Yeah. Maybe the weekend after. We, we have to aim for that, then. Okay. I got a work trip coming up. I gotta figure out my- Your dogs?... my shit.
• 52:43
And then Ogarro's getting married in Evergreen, Colorado. Yeah. Which is outside of Denver here. That's the 19th. Um, what is after that?
• 52:51
Oh, uh, the 20th and the 22nd, that's the Acorn Squatch or the Summer Sweaty Eddy or the Fall Sweaty Eddy that Steve's putting on up at Levis. Oh, okay. Um, so pseudo Gnomefest, um- So maybe we, we'll have to do that.
• 53:04
Oh, maybe we could get those guys to meet us, and we can just take the, the Slingshare that far. Oh, I bet... Well, they would come up for that, I'm sure. I don't know.
• 53:10
They're, they're, they're pretty excited about it, so we, we should just come to Milwaukee. Yeah. Or the- Tony, how, guys- Yeah, 'cause Tony does that 18th... To- Tony never leaves Milwaukee. I'm calling you out, Tony.
• 53:18
I never, I haven't seen you anywhere outside of Milwaukee ever. [laughs] Right. Yeah. He didn't come here for Time Trails, did he? No, I don't think he did. Are you kidding? No. I think we did decide, though.
• 53:27
I've got it on my calendar for Milwaukee. I think we decided that one. Um- Which weekend? I don't know. The 26th. That weekend? It's the very last weekend. Okay. Yeah, in August. Okay.
• 53:36
I got a work trip that week, but I should be back on Friday, I think. Yeah, we were thinking, w- we know, we, we're trying to make a decision. We're gonna go down Friday.
• 53:44
Um, and uh, Greg sent me, there's a, uh, a flyer from, there's sounds like there's some good plant van, good bands playing. Blip, blip, blup. [laughs] Thank you. [laughs] Um, good bands playing on Saturday, I think.
• 53:57
Okay. Um, I, we, you and I have been down there enough that I would be perfectly fine going down just for a overnight- Mm-hmm... and then get back late the next day, or somebody'll drive where I don't have to.
• 54:08
'Cause I, I keep saying Sunday fundays over there seem like they're a whole lot of fun. You, you'll, you'll get trapped. You'll have to go home on, on Monday. Well, that's fine. I'm fine with that. Mm.
• 54:17
I can get home Monday. At the one, Greg took us to a band one time, and he's like, "Yeah, wait." No, maybe it was Dave. I don't know. One of us took a, to a band. They're like, "We gotta go see this band at a bar."
• 54:26
You weren't there, I don't think. Mm-mm. But no, it was a abandoned house, and they were playing in the basement. [laughs] No way. And it was- Oh, they do that a lot over there. Ugh.
• 54:36
[laughs] It's like, I didn't know what mosh pitting was and- I- I think Ogarro was there, and remember he was like, "Is this a fight? What is- I got-... what is this?" [laughs] I got, I got picked up.
• 54:44
I, we were in Milwaukee for the Frozen Four, and I got picked up by, like, after a hockey game.
• 54:50
[laughs] Lund's, Lund's picked me up and took me to a, you know, they, they get a, an old crappy warehouse, whether it's abandoned or not, and- She sounds like a Mogwai. [laughs] You gotta go go get her. I love it.
• 55:03
[laughs] She's in her bed. I just, I wonder if the radio's picking it up on the mic. Oh, I'm sure it is. Um- Yeah... but yeah, so, so Dave picked me up and took me to one. She's under the covers. Yeah, she's in bed.
• 55:17
I think she's happy. Okay, where we at, where we at, 55? Uh, 50, so we should start to shut this... So- Or do we gotta go see Kimmy and Travie for their- Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah... wedding party?
• 55:25
So we, we have to shut this down. Oh, we forgot to talk about that. Quickly, um, that company. What? The horns, those things. Helmet Flair? Oh.
• 55:33
Those guys gave everybody, I mean, some more swag that they had, those guys put, put their, whatever kind of horns you wanted that they had, there was like bunny ear, or like ears and unicorn things.
• 55:43
They gave, they gave every- they gave everybody those to put them on their helmets. Yeah. That was kinda fun. Or bikes. Or bikes, yeah, [laughs] yeah. [laughs] Yeah.
• 55:49
Shannon's found a new idea what to do with the unicorn horn. [laughs] Ooh. [laughs] [laughs] That's not it. That's not to demonstrate. Oh, God. I have decided better. And the guy rode away.
• 56:00
[laughs] [laughs] So yeah, so all right, um, I think we can shut this puppy down and let's go have a beer with the wedding couple. Yeah. All right.
• 56:09
Final thought, final thought, SingleSpeed USA, Kansas City was- The, Kansas- Worth it? Oh, I, no, it was worth it. Yes. Yeah, it was worth it. Yes.
• 56:16
I, I, I, even with the bullshit I put up with, it was definitely worth it. I mean, they put on a good show, they had good, they had good trails down there to ride. Um, they took super good care of us. Yeah.
• 56:26
Um, um, everybody's got legit- logistical problems when you put on something like this, and they, and they did the best they could do- Yeah... for that standpoint. But I think it was still... Ubers were cheap. Yeah.
• 56:36
Oh, really? Oh, God, we, we- Yeah... could you Uber with your bike? Do they have bike racks on them? No. We asked one guy and he said, "Nah, he didn't think so." He's like, "No." Yeah.
• 56:43
[laughs] He, he was having none of it, let's put it that way. Yeah, yeah. But we didn't need to. I mean, we rode, we'd go back to the hotel, drop our shit off, and then jump in an Uber and go.
• 56:50
And there's tons of them, so you wait, like, five, 10 minutes and that's it. Yeah. So. Yeah, I think you got a little closer. Sorry. You're echoey. Yeah. No. So yeah, so no, I would say Kansas City did well.
• 57:00
Yep, they did a good job. It's in, it's in, much to my crabbiness- [laughs] [laughs] It's, it's in, it's in Colorado next year. Somehow you're the SingleSpeed God or the Single- Uh, no, no...
• 57:11
you're the SingleSpeed Godfather. Everybody's like- I'm the fucking whipping boy, believe me. [laughs] [laughs] When you've been doing it as long as you have, it's gotta be habitable, right?
• 57:19
Just, just doesn't co- just 'cause I'm old doesn't mean I have to put up with... You know, well, fine, yeah. If there's a problem, it's your fault. You know what?
• 57:24
Next year there's gonna be a, we're, we're gonna have a class. A class, what do you mean? Yeah. Busted- I think we just need to make you a T-shirt that says whipping boy. [laughs] Busted body class.
• 57:33
[laughs] We'll get, we'll get everybody together. They'll, they'll, instead of saying your name, you're just gonna say what your ailment is, and we'll just go down the line and then take off.
• 57:41
And you, and, and your starting position is decided by how beat up you are. [laughs] [laughs] You did not volunteer us to run anything, right? You said no. Oh, no, no, no. I said, I said I've retired again.
• 57:51
[laughs] I retired from being retired, and retired. I'm not, I'm, I'm- And I wasn't even there, so I'm not part of the fault. But here's the other good part.
• 57:58
Then we have another one that likes to go to them, so s- so Shannon's been to two of the la- she's been to the last two, plus helping with, what other thing did you help us with? This one.
• 58:08
Uh- You helped with ours, you helped with this one. Yeah. What else did we go to? What other race did you go to? Hmm. You've been to three things. I don't know. I don't remember. I drink those memories away.
• 58:17
[laughs] Yeah. But anyway, so yeah, so I think we just pass this off to her. [laughs] You're in charge. Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] I'm the last person you guys want in charge. No, there's other last people.
• 58:27
[laughs] [laughs] We, don't worry about that. [laughs] All right, let's get out of here. I have no closing music either, so we're just gonna shut this off. Do you wanna give Kayla shit before you go? Oh, no. Yeah.
• 58:39
Uh, no, I'm- No... um- Eh, mm, I don't know... um- She was supposed to go and she didn't, that's all. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. She was supposed to go and she didn't. We'll leave it at that. Okay. Yeah.
• 58:46
There will be another podcast. [laughs] You can ask her about that. Oh, oh, I'm not. [laughs] [laughs] All right, see you guys later
