- 0:13Speaker 1: of Long Story Shorts the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,

- 0:21Speaker 1: the Summer Night series of movies from Hallmark. And before
- 0:25Speaker 1: we get into our thoughts on that movie, we are
- 0:28Speaker 1: going to tell you that you can always find us
- 0:30Speaker 1: on Instagram, where we are Megan and Wendy l SS,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and in our Facebook group, which is Long Story Shorties.

- 0:41Speaker 2: gmail dot com. We have a message from listener Michelle.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Who says, my hold on, I closed it. We recorded
- 0:52Speaker 1: this whole intro, we don't recording and now I'm trying
- 0:55Speaker 1: to get the message to reopen because I had sent
- 0:58Speaker 1: it away. In regards to last week movie you had
- 1:00Speaker 1: Me at Aloha, I'm with Wendy. Three stars of the
- 1:03Speaker 1: Hawaii Bubble had me. Michelle's recently returned from Hawaii, Wendy's
- 1:08Speaker 1: soon headed to Hawaii. They're in that Aloha state of mind, guys.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So I get it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I get it, A Loha state of mind.
- 1:15Speaker 1: That's what they should have named the movie.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, okay, The Baker's Son. You need a synopsis,
- 1:20Speaker 2: and I am not ready for it because I'm you're
- 1:23Speaker 2: looking up.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell everybody that we are so dedicated to
- 1:26Speaker 1: bringing these episodes to you, that we started recording before
- 1:29Speaker 1: the sun was up, in our closets, in our pajamas,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and that you can actually catch a video episode of
- 1:38Speaker 1: the podcast next week on Tuesday, and you can join
- 1:42Speaker 1: us in our closets in our jams if you'd like
- 1:44Speaker 1: to join us at patreon dot com slash Megan and Wendy.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Did I kill enough time?
- 1:49Speaker 2: No? Okay, So now I am back to The Baker's Son,
- 1:56Speaker 2: which again another horrible title.
- 1:59Speaker 1: What did she think I was going to say?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Oh, it's real short. Matt's passion transforms his bread from
- 2:05Speaker 2: bland to brilliant, but when his bread loses its magic,
- 2:09Speaker 2: the island locals panic and turned to Annie Match childhood
- 2:13Speaker 2: Friend and True Love for Help, starring Elouise Mumford and Brandt.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm saying dawtry like Chris, I don't know, okay, I
- 2:25Speaker 1: get real ng up on these names that remember we
- 2:29Speaker 1: had this recently with Shannon Dorty.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Dorty Yeah, so okay, DoD okay, whatever you said it,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I can't.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Brand that's happened in news and notes from this movie.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 2:43Speaker 1: This movie takes place in, as far as I can tell,
- 2:46Speaker 1: the fictional town of Windward, Washington, although it was filmed
- 2:49Speaker 1: in Vancouver, British Columbia. Did you do any googling of
- 2:52Speaker 1: the town of Windward, Washington.
- 2:54Speaker 2: No, Oh, I thought you said it was fictional. Win Word,
- 2:59Speaker 2: Washington is a fictional town.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Right as far as I can tell. However, when I
- 3:04Speaker 1: google Windword Washington, let me tell you what I find.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Windward is not it's a community. It's not the name
- 3:13Speaker 1: of the actual place where it is. And it is
- 3:16Speaker 1: in Washington, in the Cascade Mountains. And Windward is a
- 3:19Speaker 1: cooperative community in the making, dedicated to preserving and developing
- 3:23Speaker 1: village scale technologies needed to support a thriving, sustainable community
- 3:27Speaker 1: on marginal land. We come together with the belief that
- 3:30Speaker 1: now is the time for radical change. That's a cult
- 3:33Speaker 1: began with four core members looking to expand to twenty
- 3:37Speaker 1: to thirty people. Began with an effort in the seventies
- 3:40Speaker 1: to create a new venice in the Caribbean. No then
- 3:42Speaker 1: they moved to Nevada, cultivating a small polyamorous family that
- 3:46Speaker 1: became Windward. Then they raised the capitol needed to move
- 3:49Speaker 1: onto the land that they're currently in. Now we're going
- 3:51Speaker 1: to leave a link to this community in the show notes.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's a real journey. But that's where Windward, Washington took me.
- 3:59Speaker 2: That sounds like there was a Netflix documentary about a
- 4:03Speaker 2: community similar to that. I wish I could tell you
- 4:07Speaker 2: the name of it. I will leave it in the
- 4:09Speaker 2: show notes because I will find it eventually. Okay, Well,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I'll tell you that I did find something about where
- 4:16Speaker 2: this movie was filmed at. And I'm not even going
- 4:22Speaker 2: to attempt to say these names. Do you have them
- 4:24Speaker 2: written down?
- 4:25Speaker 1: By any chance? I didn't, I just because they're near Vancouver.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I left it at that.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Okay, So they were in specific bay areas Bentwood Bay,
- 4:34Speaker 2: and then there's two other names that I'm not going
- 4:36Speaker 2: to even pronounce because I will butcher them. But anyway,
- 4:42Speaker 2: these communities are designated as city slow. Have you ever
- 4:46Speaker 2: heard of that term before?
- 4:47Speaker 1: Oh?
- 4:48Speaker 2: I haven't. So the focus is on a slower pace
- 4:51Speaker 2: of life and improving the quality of life. And I
- 4:54Speaker 2: was like, isn't that what you guys? Are in search
- 4:58Speaker 2: for Yeah, you and your husband, right, one of us?
- 5:01Speaker 1: One of us?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Okay, but I was like, I never even had heard
- 5:05Speaker 2: this term before, and it's spelled CI.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Did I spell it right? C T A slow sit
- 5:14Speaker 1: A slow interesting. I've never heard that. Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I did also read that they use the real Willow
- 5:22Speaker 2: Street cafe for McBride's.
- 5:25Speaker 1: He had that too. And I'll tell you, I.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Was watching this movie and I was like, I wish
- 5:30Speaker 2: I had a cafe sort of place like that in
- 5:33Speaker 2: my neighborhood. We don't have anything like that where you
- 5:35Speaker 2: want to Lukes, I want a LUs I want a
- 5:39Speaker 2: Lukes Diner. You're absolutely one hundred percent correct. A brand
- 5:45Speaker 2: maybe last name Dawtry was given a crash course in
- 5:47Speaker 2: baking prior to this movie. He was given like a
- 5:50Speaker 2: three hour baking lesson so that in those scenes where
- 5:52Speaker 2: he's needing and making bread, it looks authentic. And I
- 5:55Speaker 2: thought he did a good job of making those selling
- 5:57Speaker 2: those scenes that he was a baker. Okay, you mean
- 6:00Speaker 2: he wasn't selling it when he would the dad would
- 6:03Speaker 2: come in and Brandt, also known as Matt, his character
- 6:07Speaker 2: would have his head down on the counter because he
- 6:10Speaker 2: slept in the bakery.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I gock, you guys, okay, let's do first impressions. Let
- 6:16Speaker 1: me well, why don't you guess mine? When he hated it?
- 6:19Speaker 1: I absolutely hated it. Meghan liked it. Megan liked it,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you guys, Megan liked it. So it started real slow.
- 6:25Speaker 1: There were entirely too many characters in this movie, which
- 6:29Speaker 1: makes it very hard for me to get into it.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But it grew on me a little bit. I didn't
- 6:35Speaker 1: hate it. It is not going to make any best
- 6:38Speaker 1: of lists for me. This was dreadful.
- 6:41Speaker 2: You said, too many characters, The whole ballet troop did
- 6:43Speaker 2: not need to be there, like, cut all that out.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I just think the writers found another some rando girl
- 6:49Speaker 2: in this. Yeah, totally, totally okay what we liked.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So as much as I hate a movie where they
- 6:55Speaker 1: don't just say the things they're thinking, I do think
- 6:57Speaker 1: the idea that these are best friends and she's realizing
- 6:59Speaker 1: that she's in love with him before he realizes he's
- 7:01Speaker 1: in love with her. I do kind of understand why
- 7:03Speaker 1: you're not just going to say the thing right because
- 7:05Speaker 1: you've got this lifelong friendship you don't want to ruin it.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And then of course he has fallen in love. You
- 7:11Speaker 1: can't see me, but I'm making big air quotes with
- 7:14Speaker 1: this woman that he's gone on two dates with, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: she feels like he's so heartbroken over her. If he
- 7:21Speaker 1: loves her, he could not possibly love Annie. Right, it
- 7:26Speaker 1: was understandable. I could understand her point of view. That's
- 7:29Speaker 1: what That's what I'll say.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Okay, what I liked about this movie, and I tell you,
- 7:33Speaker 2: I think I only wrote a couple things down. I
- 7:37Speaker 2: liked that the story was from Matt's perspective. We don't
- 7:40Speaker 2: get a ton of movies that are from the male perspective,
- 7:43Speaker 2: so it was like kind of a nice change. But
- 7:46Speaker 2: I didn't care enough about Matt and what Matt was
- 7:49Speaker 2: trying to do with his love life, so right, But
- 7:52Speaker 2: I enjoyed the pace. I mean the pace I enjoy.
- 7:56Speaker 2: It was a nice change of pace that they had
- 7:57Speaker 2: it from the male perspective, because of all the movie
- 8:00Speaker 2: we watch this year, I cannot recall one that was
- 8:03Speaker 2: from a male point of view.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I liked the sweet, small town coastal setting. It
- 8:08Speaker 1: had real stars hollow vibes for me, not that it
- 8:10Speaker 1: looked like stars hollow, but like the community, the way
- 8:13Speaker 1: they all know each other and work together with see
- 8:15Speaker 1: each other in the cafe every morning. It gave me
- 8:16Speaker 1: those like Gilmore Girls stars hollow vibes that I'm into.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Hey, gotcha, I wrote that to cute little Town. Kind
- 8:24Speaker 2: of loved the idea of movies that rally the townspeople
- 8:28Speaker 2: to save the town.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But yeah, it's okay that it wasn't enough to make
- 8:31Speaker 1: you like the movie. You can like that tiny little piece, okay.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I liked the Annie montage in the end when he
- 8:36Speaker 1: realizes he's in love with her and they just like
- 8:38Speaker 1: snapped through a bunch of photos. Oh, didn't do it
- 8:40Speaker 1: for Wendy.
- 8:41Speaker 2: No, I'm shaking my head no, because he's it's like, hey, dummy,
- 8:45Speaker 2: you just realized you loved Annie, and then like, oh.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Oh, guys are so stupid.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Indeed, I like the mayor, the one, the guy who
- 8:55Speaker 2: had like three jobs. He made me laugh out loud,
- 8:57Speaker 2: actually a couple a couple of times. I thought he
- 8:59Speaker 2: was quite funny. But like you said, too many characters.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I don't know anybody's name. Oh, okay, what'd you wish for?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Let's talk about food as a bad thing please. I
- 9:11Speaker 1: understand that these ballet dancers need to stay in shape.
- 9:16Speaker 1: We didn't need it as a plot point. It comes
- 9:18Speaker 1: up multiple times, like you're in our restaurant. You don't
- 9:20Speaker 1: need to be like I'm gonna have the burger with
- 9:21Speaker 1: no cheese and no bun. That doesn't need to be
- 9:24Speaker 1: dialogue in the movie. We understand that dancers need to
- 9:27Speaker 1: stay in shape, and then the one guy who orders
- 9:29Speaker 1: his burger with the bun is like a total rebel. No, please,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this is this is not interesting.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I know all two men wrote this movie, so I
- 9:36Speaker 2: think that maybe they just don't know that you shouldn't
- 9:40Speaker 2: talk about that stuff.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah it, she has no moral value. Agree, absolutely agree.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I wish for better leads. I've never seen either of
- 9:53Speaker 2: these actors, even though why are you laughing?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Because I really liked them. I thought they were acutely right.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I got terrible material, but I fight liked them individually.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Well. IMDb tells me that Brandt, whatever his last name is,
- 10:06Speaker 2: has been in a lot of things, including Pretty Little Liars,
- 10:08Speaker 2: which I watched, but I don't remember him. But the
- 10:11Speaker 2: thing is, I just found him especially unlikable. I thought
- 10:15Speaker 2: he overacted the entire role, and I found him super unnatural.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I hated him.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Oh oh, I'm sorry, all right, gay, So something else
- 10:26Speaker 1: I wished for. We haven't talked about this in a while.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Hallmark has a diversity problem, and they have made some
- 10:32Speaker 1: steps in the right direction. But Summer Nights is gonna
- 10:35Speaker 1: need to be called Summer whit Skies. It's so white.
- 10:38Speaker 1: This town had one black person and he maybe had
- 10:41Speaker 1: two lines, and that was the only person of color
- 10:45Speaker 1: in the entire movie. And again that's not true. Oh,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry. There was an indigenous character. Okay, you need
- 10:52Speaker 1: to know that. I watched this at like thirty five
- 10:55Speaker 1: percent attention. Me too, me too. He was like the sheriff,
- 10:57Speaker 1: I think. But okay, Ogrey, right, you're right, you're right,
- 11:00Speaker 1: you're right, You're right. I die. Do you remember that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Let me say that diversity comes in a lot of
- 11:05Speaker 1: different places, and it's not just in casting people of color.
- 11:08Speaker 1: We need like diverse lifestyles. Right, We've talked about how
- 11:11Speaker 1: they incorporate members of the LGBTQ community into their cast.
- 11:15Speaker 1: This does not always need to be a male and
- 11:16Speaker 1: female lead love interest. Diversity comes in body shapes and sizes.
- 11:22Speaker 1: There's just a lot of different ways we can to
- 11:24Speaker 1: corporate diversity into our movie instead of saying like, oh,
- 11:27Speaker 1: we have two named cast members who are not white people,
- 11:30Speaker 1: so check check. I agree.
- 11:34Speaker 2: That's why these things, these movies are so boring to me.
- 11:38Speaker 2: They're so boring. And what did you call it? Summer white?
- 11:40Speaker 1: Some are white?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Wow?
- 11:42Speaker 1: Girl, wlash for anything else? Yeah?
- 11:45Speaker 2: I thought these characters did to have any chemistry. I
- 11:48Speaker 2: thought they were terrible. Okay, when Matt's dad tells him
- 11:53Speaker 2: you have to put like love as the secret ingredient
- 11:56Speaker 2: into baking his bread or some crap like that, like
- 11:59Speaker 2: you must fighting love so your bread is good, and
- 12:03Speaker 2: I just thought, like, how about Matt put some effort
- 12:07Speaker 2: into his job, Like how about try some new recipes
- 12:13Speaker 2: or like have a passion about what you're doing, Like
- 12:17Speaker 2: he did not like to be a baker.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He didn't want to be a baker like that, I don't.
- 12:22Speaker 1: It didn't well, And like I think the message like
- 12:26Speaker 1: you gotta have a partner in order to be good
- 12:27Speaker 1: at your job. No, have some passion for your job,
- 12:30Speaker 1: have some passion for your life, Like there's ways to
- 12:33Speaker 1: find joys and love without being like you gotta have
- 12:35Speaker 1: a person or your bread's gonna suck. We're gonna talk
- 12:37Speaker 1: all about this whole storyline in the next segment. Oh, okay,
- 12:40Speaker 1: good good, good, good good.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I also wished for I wrote down I wished I
- 12:45Speaker 2: cared more about the story.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I just didn't. I'm sorry. I hated it, but I'm sorry. Sorry. Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 1: go ahead, okay, are you ready for to see that?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Before we do that, I would like to address I
- 12:58Speaker 1: think there needs to be a segment for the things
- 12:59Speaker 1: that we miss. We're not really paying attention to this movie.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys, I watched this at like it. It's
- 13:04Speaker 1: not a real busy week. Maybe thirty five percent attention.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And do we know why they were dressed up in
- 13:10Speaker 1: period costumes at the end, because I don't. I have
- 13:12Speaker 1: no idea. Okay, if they addressed it, maybe it's just
- 13:16Speaker 1: one of these like quirky small town things. If they
- 13:18Speaker 1: actually said, like it's the Da Da Da Festival. I
- 13:21Speaker 1: missed it. I missed it. I'm sorry. We are the
- 13:22Speaker 1: worst Hallmark reviewers ever. My did you see? That's are
- 13:25Speaker 1: more just like complaints about the movie. It's not like
- 13:28Speaker 1: flubs or mistakes.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:31Speaker 1: The first one is you can drink coffee when you're pregnant.
- 13:34Speaker 1: It's not heroin.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I didn't, I said, I don't even know what you're
- 13:37Speaker 2: talking about.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But I agree. Yeah, there's so many scenes were her
- 13:40Speaker 1: friend whose name I don't know, because again too many characters,
- 13:43Speaker 1: is like, oh, that coffee looks really good. Oh, and
- 13:45Speaker 1: her friends are like, can I have a coffee? Sorry,
- 13:48Speaker 1: can't have one. She can have a cup of coffee, guys,
- 13:50Speaker 1: she can have a cup of coffee.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You can have a glass of wine too. I mean,
- 13:56Speaker 2: Megan wouldn't, but it's okay. The doctor says not.
- 14:00Speaker 1: But every doctor's gonna tell you. Well, most doctors are
- 14:03Speaker 1: gonna tell you can have a little caffeine anyway, Especially
- 14:07Speaker 1: because other characters were policing her body. I did not
- 14:10Speaker 1: enjoy that. Like, if you are a person who is
- 14:12Speaker 1: pregnant and you choose not to drink caffeine, by all
- 14:15Speaker 1: means do what you want. But the fact that people like, oh, no, sorry,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you can't have any No, No, that's not their choice. No.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Why was the ballet so dark? I don't know. I
- 14:28Speaker 1: don't Why was the ballet in this small town? I
- 14:31Speaker 1: don't know, because they rehearse there. That made no sense.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Many things made no sense. But then they perform on
- 14:35Speaker 1: a stage the house like one light and it's like
- 14:37Speaker 1: someone's holding a lamp and following them. It's not alight.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Was bearable? How are you supposed to see the dancers?
- 14:42Speaker 1: We need light, get better lights. This is why you're
- 14:45Speaker 1: down this val, why your town is failing. It's not
- 14:51Speaker 1: the bread. Oh I guess the actual Did you see
- 14:54Speaker 1: that moment a gold Bond commercial? No, I didn't know
- 15:00Speaker 1: that sponsored was a sponsored by No, I just bummed
- 15:04Speaker 1: on it. If you haven't listened to our Sweaty Summer
- 15:06Speaker 1: Solutions episode, I know that's what it's called. That's what
- 15:08Speaker 1: I call it. But we'll link it in the show notes.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It's a few episodes back, and the tackling was keep
- 15:12Speaker 1: her downstairs dry, and we talk a lot about the
- 15:14Speaker 1: wonders of Goldbond in the summer, just dry. I loved it.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I loved it, but I was very happy to see
- 15:25Speaker 1: that moment. That is so funny.
- 15:27Speaker 2: No, I did not notice that commercial at all, But
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'm dying. I'm going to try to find the commercial
- 15:32Speaker 2: online and link it in the show notes. Okay, did
- 15:35Speaker 2: you notice? Okay, this is not a really like did
- 15:38Speaker 2: you see that but like the town people guilted Annie
- 15:42Speaker 2: into about leaving. Yeah, I mean, let this girl go
- 15:47Speaker 2: do what she wants to do.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So she came home out of obligation. Let her. Let
- 15:52Speaker 1: her do what she means. God, okay, over it? Can
- 15:57Speaker 1: we call out the elephant in the room. M hm,
- 16:00Speaker 1: nobody cares about bread basket bread that much? For yourself there,
- 16:08Speaker 1: I like bread. This is not the town's maker or breaker,
- 16:12Speaker 1: Like if you're hand, it was their bread basket bread
- 16:14Speaker 1: that they're passing out along with the meals. I know
- 16:16Speaker 1: they sold it this a loaf too, but they're walking
- 16:18Speaker 1: around and apparently this bread ruined the town. No, no, agree.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I know there's like a shot where like everybody's eating
- 16:27Speaker 2: like a loaf of bread, Like they're like this, like
- 16:32Speaker 2: put some butter on that shit or like.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Me, but it's just a damn oil. It's so dumb.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And the town's solution to bad bread is to find
- 16:44Speaker 1: someone else for him to fall in love with. M
- 16:49Speaker 1: The bread is bad, so he needs someone to fall
- 16:52Speaker 1: in love with. Maybe he needs to be better at
- 16:54Speaker 1: making bread.
- 16:56Speaker 2: That's what I said earlier. Put some freaking effort into
- 16:59Speaker 2: your job, dude, Like.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Calling the dad be like, dude, we need a little
- 17:03Speaker 1: help here. Yeah, like trot out all these fake cousins
- 17:06Speaker 1: for him to fall in love with. This is the
- 17:07Speaker 1: most I mean, that's a Hallmark movie for you, the
- 17:10Speaker 1: like he can fall in love in a weekend and
- 17:11Speaker 1: we can be back online with our bread basket bread.
- 17:14Speaker 2: No.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Have you seen the movie starring Sarah Michelle Geller called
- 17:21Speaker 1: Simply Irresistible? That's like a late nineties movie, isn't it? Yeah?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah?
- 17:26Speaker 1: Is she Freddy Prince Junior? Isn't that too?
- 17:28Speaker 2: Isn't he don't her actual real life husband, but he
- 17:31Speaker 2: doesn't play the lead? Wait?
- 17:32Speaker 1: What's it called simply irresistible? Simply yeah? He inherits a
- 17:37Speaker 1: restaurant and also has like some sort of weird magical
- 17:40Speaker 1: powers and falls in love with some guy who works
- 17:43Speaker 1: at Henry Bendall or maybe is an owner of Hender
- 17:45Speaker 1: Bendall or some big wig at Henry Bendall, And the
- 17:49Speaker 1: whole concept is she's like got a bake with love?
- 17:52Speaker 1: Who gets better when she's baking with love? Anyway, It
- 17:55Speaker 1: just it reminded me of that. I've seen that movie
- 17:57Speaker 1: many times, and I uh actually quite enjoyed that terrible
- 18:01Speaker 1: cheesy movie.
- 18:01Speaker 2: All right, Fridday. Prince Junior is not in this movie,
- 18:04Speaker 2: but I swear he is in like some sort of
- 18:05Speaker 2: chef movie too.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And it came.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Out in nineteen ninety nine at Romantic Comedy. She is
- 18:14Speaker 2: it any good? Should I watch it? I don't think
- 18:17Speaker 2: I've ever seen it. I probably haven't seen it since
- 18:19Speaker 2: nineteen and nine, but I've seen it a lot of times,
- 18:20Speaker 2: and it's a cute. It's probably terrible against twenty twenty
- 18:24Speaker 2: one standards, but I liked it all right.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I liked it, okay. Is she leaving town to follow
- 18:30Speaker 1: her passion or is she leaving town because Matt fell
- 18:34Speaker 1: in love with and got his heart broken by the
- 18:36Speaker 1: ballet dancer? Probably because Matt's leaving town. So then my
- 18:40Speaker 1: question is, why can't you wait five minutes for him
- 18:42Speaker 1: to pull his head out of his ass because he
- 18:43Speaker 1: had a four day relationship with his ballet dancer that
- 18:45Speaker 1: he then seems shocked that she's leaving town. She's like
- 18:48Speaker 1: a visiting dancer, and then he thinks she's just going
- 18:51Speaker 1: to stay there anyway? Could you not just wait a
- 18:55Speaker 1: week for him to pull his head of his ass,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and then you can have a conversation with him. He
- 18:58Speaker 1: was not in love with her.
- 19:00Speaker 2: It is way too complicated this relationship that it's never
- 19:04Speaker 2: gonna work. There is a moment where the ballet dancer
- 19:07Speaker 2: actually do know her name, her name is Nicole says
- 19:10Speaker 2: to him stopping such a guy and ask her what's wrong?
- 19:12Speaker 2: And I feel like that's like the Hallmark equivalent of
- 19:14Speaker 2: saying pull your head out of her, because he says, like,
- 19:17Speaker 2: Annie's being weird, and she's like, well, why don't you
- 19:19Speaker 2: just ask her? If they're so close and friendship, yes,
- 19:24Speaker 2: why aren't they just having this conversation? I don't know, Like,
- 19:27Speaker 2: did you get any kind of like sexy vibes from
- 19:31Speaker 2: the two of them together? I did not, Yeah, exactly,
- 19:35Speaker 2: Like there was nothing that it was like, oh, yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 2: they should be together.
- 19:39Speaker 1: No, do you have any more did you see that? No?
- 19:44Speaker 2: But I read one that was kind of funny. Okay,
- 19:47Speaker 2: there was a time he was like running out of
- 19:48Speaker 2: the house and he was trying to put his shoes on.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Huh did you read it too? And had white socks on,
- 19:53Speaker 2: and then the next thcene they showed him with black socks.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So I noticed the black socks. Wasn't watching when they'll
- 19:58Speaker 1: put the white sox on.
- 20:00Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So what did you score this movie? Rate this movie?
- 20:04Speaker 1: I gave this. You know, I'm sitting here thinking of
- 20:06Speaker 1: the ranking I gave it, and then I'm trying to
- 20:09Speaker 1: compare it to last week's movie. Okay, look in my
- 20:11Speaker 1: mind name, I'm adjusting my score on the flot. I'm
- 20:15Speaker 1: giving it a two and a half stars because I
- 20:18Speaker 1: liked wait wait, wait, wait god.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I liked hold On.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Don't get mad the small town better than I liked
- 20:25Speaker 1: why now. I gave it a half a star because
- 20:29Speaker 1: that bad. That's that bad, dude. I hated the lead actor.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I just thought it was terrible.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I really liked like the quirky little small town vibes.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I liked their hijinks, Like, I mean, it was silly.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But once you're like buying it on the look, this
- 20:43Speaker 1: is a homework movie, they're gonna be goofy. I there
- 20:45Speaker 1: was something about that I found charming, even though I
- 20:47Speaker 1: found their premise like so stupid, like, oh, we're gonna
- 20:50Speaker 1: find someone for him belove, so the bread's better. That
- 20:52Speaker 1: was dumb. But I kind of towards the end, I
- 20:54Speaker 1: was like, I kind of like the people. I'd like
- 20:55Speaker 1: to go to this fake down. Well, apparently you can
- 21:00Speaker 1: go to the real town. That's true, that's true. We
- 21:03Speaker 1: should we should go and we can go to Willow
- 21:05Speaker 1: Street Cafe. Yeah we could, but I don't want to. Hey, guys,
- 21:10Speaker 1: next week is her pen pal? And do you think
- 21:12Speaker 1: that when they're naming these movies, they take the synopsis
- 21:15Speaker 1: of this movie and then they like pull three connected
- 21:18Speaker 1: words out and they're like, that makes a good title.
- 21:20Speaker 2: The thing I'm excited about for my pin pal is
- 21:23Speaker 2: it features I think her name is Malory Jansen. She
- 21:28Speaker 2: was in the first movie that I watched, Twelve the
- 21:33Speaker 2: Eights of Christmas, and I really liked her.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So that's not the first movie that we watched. Yes,
- 21:39Speaker 1: it was on the jingle Bell Bride is our first. Oh. Shoot,
- 21:44Speaker 1: so it's the first movie that you liked.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Oh, she's an Australian actress. There will be no Hallmark
- 21:50Speaker 1: episode for that movie, so you're gonna have to uh.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Oh, I'm definitely not watching it. Then I don't have
- 21:57Speaker 2: to review it at per.
- 22:04Speaker 1: But you're listening at home. You can keep up with
- 22:05Speaker 1: the Summer Nights series with her pun pal. So the
- 22:09Speaker 1: last two movies summer nights conflict with our combined travel schedules,
- 22:14Speaker 1: so we will not be reviewing those live. But of
- 22:16Speaker 1: course we will be back with Girls Gone Hallmark to
- 22:19Speaker 1: review the brand new original Christmas movie for Christmas in July,
- 22:27Speaker 1: and then they will be re airing movies all July long,
- 22:30Speaker 1: so we will be back to That will be our
- 22:31Speaker 1: next Girls Gone Hallmark episode. But if you want more
- 22:33Speaker 1: from us, you can always catch our regular Tuesday episodes
- 22:37Speaker 1: of the podcast. Next week we're asking each other a
- 22:41Speaker 1: bunch of random questions. We talked to all of that,

- 23:01Speaker 1: Did you give it more than half a star? I'm
- 23:04Speaker 1: dying to know. Do you know why they were in
- 23:06Speaker 1: period costume? We don't know. Let us know and until
- 23:10Speaker 1: next time, have a great week. Everybody, goodbye, goodbye,
