- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Hello everyone and welcome back to the Rape Social Podcast.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Today we have a guest who we've had before.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: It is Brie from Socially Brie.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: And we're really excited to have her on the podcast today because we're going to talk about something a little bit different.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: It's not necessarily going to be just about social media, um, but more so about Brie's like own transformation.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: She's been on a wellness health journey over like the last year, and it's so inspiring.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: And I feel like a lot of you will relate and connect to her story.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: So we're so excited to have her.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm so excited to be here.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I feel like once I see our like podcast from last year, and then I watch this one, I'm going to be like, whoa, the way that I have changed throughout this time is just so crazy.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And not even just like my face, but like my mannerisms and like the way that I speak.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like so less angry, if that makes sense.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Um so I like look back at a lot of podcasts that I've done and I listen and I'm just like, Who are you?
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Like you're insufferable a little bit.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: And I feel like we can all relate to that because it's just like when you change your life, you realize, like, oh, I'm a completely different person than I used to be, and now I understand why I was so angry because my life is awesome now, you know?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And it's just so crazy.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And I feel like you can also attest to that as well.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: And I was just thinking, like, I know you're just a little bit younger than me, not a ton, but I feel like I went through something very similar to what you did, where like I think like I don't know if I was like mad at the world or what, but I was just very like, things aren't working out for me, and like everything felt hard and frustrating, and like I wasn't taking care of myself.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I was just like getting through.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: And then it's almost like part of when my frontal lobe developed, I feel like.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, is when I was like, oh, like if you want to have a good life, like you're you have to do that, nobody's gonna do that for you, and like you have to take control of your own things, and that's when I also had a shift similar to yours, where I was I had like a physical transformation, but I also had just like a mental emotional transformation of like, you know, I'm in charge and I want to have a good life, so I'm gonna do what I have to do to get there.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if my frontal lobe has developed because I still don't like vegetables, so I don't really know what's like going on with that.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know who I need to talk to about that, but let me know if like there's like a representative line.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: But um with that being said, I I totally under like stand what you're saying, especially like you kind of realize no one's coming to save you.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: At the end of the day, I look at how I was raised and I look at how you know my life was chaos, so my entire childhood was chaos.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: And like I know family might listen to this, and sorry, but it's the truth.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Like, I was raised horribly.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: I was raised by two parents who were extremely young.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: My mom had me at the age of 18, and it was it's very difficult when you grow up with a parent because they don't know how to take care of you.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: So my mom was a very big partier, my mom was an alcoholic, my mom was a drug addict, same with my dad, and I really don't talk about that a lot, but it is a huge part of my life, and I found that I was always in fight or flight as a child.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: When I was five years old, I can still remember some things, and to be completely honest with you, I can't remember any good thing that had happened to me as a child.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And obviously, there were.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I hear stories, I see photos, I went to Disney like hello.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: But at the end of the day, you don't remember those things, you really only remember the trauma.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And I found that when I became a teen, that it was still happening.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: My mom was still a drunk, she was still extremely angry, she was still extremely abusive.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So as a teen, you're just like, oh, like I could fight back, like, and not per se like physically, but you know, emotionally and kind of like rebel.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And I was a very good kid, I had you know very good grades, I was on the varsity softball team, I was in student council, like I got all these hobbies and all of these activities in school because I never wanted to be home.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And I realized when I became an adult that I poured so much time and energy into things that weren't necessarily me because I was just trying to escape from where I lived.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: And I finally I turned 18.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: No, I turned 19, and yeah, this was right before my 20th birthday.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: My boyfriend and his or my boyfriend's family moved to DR and their apartment became available.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: So my boyfriend was going to stay in it, and I said, you know what?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make this work, like I'm gonna move out because he invited me to live with him.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: The minute I got the chance to move out, I did, but I didn't know how to operate without that chaos.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So I found myself just sabotaging myself all the time.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: I was sabotaging my relationship, I was sabotaging my friendships, I was sabotaging even my own, you know, relationships with my family, and I was so angry, and it took maybe a year and a half for me to realize like I don't like this version of myself at all.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I was just so upset all the time.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I was so angry.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: All I did was eat food to you know combat that.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And I remember when I was living with my mom, I had an eating disorder because I was just extremely depressed, and I thought, okay, well, I'm gonna get skinny.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: And like I think one thing you can control is that, like, exactly when you're in when you're living in chaos, like all you want is control, and you could control that.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: So, like exactly, yeah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And I was working at a spa and it was with a bunch of girls, and I'm a girls' girl, but also it's very hard when people are testing your patience every day.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I was like, what is happening?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Is this really what it's like when you grow up?
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Like, it doesn't get any better, but then I realized it does get better, it's just the people you surround yourself with and the person you also want to become is just within reach.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: All you have to do is take the steps to get there, but I didn't know what those steps were.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's no guidebook on life, unfortunately.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: No, um, and in January of last year, I went through something a little bit traumatic, which like I am not like ready to talk about, but it was a lot.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Um, I think I did speak to you about it.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Um totally, but after that, I said, screw it.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: I have nothing.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: I have nothing right now.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I have an amazing boyfriend, of course, and I have family and all those things I did have, but in that moment I felt like I had nothing.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so from there I was like, What do you do?
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: So I said, Okay, I don't know, but I'm gonna start trying.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So it started with walking, and I felt so less angry, and it's so silly because you're just on a little stroll, like, and I understand why they call it a hot girl walk because you get hot.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Um, for real.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Like it's crazy how something so small can have such a major impact.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: That was the first thing that I did too, and I was like, Yeah, going through it, and then yeah, I mean, yeah, hot girl walks are just perfect.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Like, you just go for a little walk and you literally like you get hot.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: That's it's that's what happens.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: It's like a mental reset.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Literally, it's like a mental reset.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And then I was trying to like cram walks into my day.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I was super busy, and then I realized, you know what?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: I need a break.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm tired of eating lunch at my desk.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I'm tired of not having time for myself.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I feel like working from home, it's just like either you're cooped up in your office or you're just like eating, you're eating lunch at your desk and all those things.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: And I saw, I don't remember who posted this.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I have to figure this out.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: But they had such a good take.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: They were like, no sad desk salads.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And that made me like they saw that.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: That made my brain go, oh my god.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't use salads, but like she doesn't eat vegetables.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: She doesn't melt.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: My frontal lobe has not developed yet.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Clearly.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: They say your taste palette changes every seven years, so I'm gonna keep trying that.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Um but with that being said, I was just like, oh my gosh, like that is so true.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: So that's where I developed the split, the work, uh, the workday split.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: I didn't really know it was a workday split at the moment.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I was just like, lunch break, I'm gonna take my walk.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: So I started kind of building better habits and just walking, and then I would work after, and then after that, I would do like a little bit of a workout, whether and it was just like 10-minute Pilates, but it was enough to get my body moving.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and then from there, I was like, okay, like the sleighs.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: It was probably around like March when I discovered 75 Soft.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Um changed my life.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: And if you have not heard of 75 Soft, you need to do it.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Well you should tell what it is.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Let me just adjust myself.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, so 75 Soft.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Is everyone sitting down?
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, everyone needs to be sitting down, and you're this is gonna change your life.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: And I am a lazy girl, okay?
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: So you're probably sitting here and thinking, like, my girl, like I don't, I don't care.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Um, but it is so simple.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Um, basically, drinking, I think it's like half of your body weight in water.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Now, depending on how much you're moving your body, like for me, I drink about like two to three Stanleys.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: But on a day that I'm just doing Pilates in a walk, I'll drink two.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: You don't want to overhydrate because then you're just like drowning.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Um, no, like I'm not even joking.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I actually heard somebody drown for drinking too much water, so like be careful.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Um, but it's gonna be funny, but no, it's not, it's not funny at all.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: It's not funny at all.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: But with that being said, um, then like some kind of if your goal is to lose weight, then some kind of calorie deficit.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be a diet.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: I hate diets, I'm not a diet girl.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: You're not about to tell me what I'm gonna eat.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: No, like I'm gonna eat what I want, just less.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Um, and then because I had an eating disorder, so like I feel like I'm inclined to say that.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Um with that being said, that then, so that's the first two rules.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Then the second, uh, the third, sorry, um, I can't count, is the uh 45 minutes of movement.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: So this for me was my walk and like a 10-minute Pilates situation.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I would walk a little longer.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: I think I was doing like three to four miles a day, so I could hit 10k steps.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: That's the fourth step.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: So at least I wasn't doing 10,000 steps every day.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I think it's unattainable sometimes.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: You have to be real with yourself, and I think when you set goals that are too broad, you are less inclined to um kind of like complete them.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So I did 7,500 to 10,000 steps.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: It kind of gave me that range on a day if I had more time, I could do it, or on a day I had less time, I wouldn't beat myself up about not getting it done.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Um, because I feel like it is a mental challenge.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: You are supposed to, you know, build these habits, but also at a pace that's comfortable for you.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: I always say to even the people in my broadcast channel, which I could get into that like a little bit later, but um kind of just being slow with yourself and giving yourself grace.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: You're not going to be your, you know, end all be all after doing one workout, and you have to be okay with that.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, so I did those four things, uh, 10 pages of any book.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: This was mainly to help myself with my attention span because I would doom scroll for so long.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: I couldn't even watch a full YouTube video without putting it on two speed.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I didn't even know you could do a YouTube on full speed on two speed.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you can.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: I don't recommend it.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: But uh no, I'm the same way.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: I'm like, let's go.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Do you know you have 30 minutes like we just had?
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Like, no.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I kid you not, it's actually crazy.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: And social media is so great, but it's also so bad for you sometimes.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and of course, you're in charge with your relationship with social media, you are in charge with who you follow, but a lot of times you have to be real with yourself and you have to say, are these people really contributing to my life?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: It could be people who are influencers, people you went to school with.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: If they're not serving you, why follow them?
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: You pay for your own phone.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, like what are you doing into your phone?
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna be on my phone.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: No, you don't get to have a spot here, like no way.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: No, and I think what really resonated with me was like, okay, I did have problems in the past, so the people I watch have to be people who actually eat, you know, and who actually like fuel themselves and are good influences.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: And I found that you know I didn't really need to rely on them for the motivation because after I started the 75 Soft and I had a clear plan, I said, wow, I don't need inspiration from anybody else.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: This is the roadmap right here.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it's like it's within you, like you don't need it coming from someone else, and that like applies to everything in life and business and everything, like external in college.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I took some psychology courses because I was a business major, and they would talk about like how do you motivate people?
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: Like, how do you motivate employees to do their job?
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: How do you motivate someone to buy your product, whatever?
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: And it's like their biggest thing was like, you can't, they have to decide.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: At the end of the conversation, is that like it has to come from inside, yeah.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: That's why, like, when people get sent to rehab against their will, it's like they aren't successful because they didn't want that.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: You have to wait for them to decide themselves, and it's like it's true, just with what you're saying.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: You're like, I thought I needed someone to help me, and I think like getting inspired is different.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: It's like okay, now I feel like I have that like itch or like motivation to do this for myself, but then the decision has to be made that like you are going to do it, exactly.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: And so after a while, I was just doing those 10-minute videos and walking, and then I was like, I'm getting stronger, like I need to add something else.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: So it got to a point where I saw um actually BTL copy put me on to Alexia, the girl I always tag in my um self-help like carousels.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I did her Linus U challenge, and when I tell you, it changed my life.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: I was applying the same goals from 75 Soft.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Actually, to this day, I do.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Um like every single day.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I have all of the rules in my app, and at different times of the day, it reminds me.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: And so, what I'll do is is like, okay, if I didn't do that yet, I'm going to make it a priority because it's right in my face.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: That's the thing.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: You can't just sit there and rely on motivation.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Motivation does not exist.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Maybe in the beginning, sure.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're like, I want to get it together.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: No, ever.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: No, it's consistency.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, every day could be different.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: You're not always gonna feel motivated.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: No, and uh, I sure as stuff wasn't either.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm trying to like I know, I'm trying to like be more mindful.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: I don't wanna, I don't know.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: But um, but yeah, I swear it changed my life.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: It was like longer form videos, so I was doing uh one strength per week and then two Pilates, and then so those were 45 minutes, and then I was just sprinkling in like the 10 minute videos I would do like every other day, and I would take a rest day and I'd be walking.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: And that's when I started to see the most results, adding in strength.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And everyone's like, Oh, I don't want to lift weights, like I don't want to look like manly or anything.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: It doesn't, like I'm gonna tell you, it doesn't.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: I'm lifting 10 pound weights.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: And that's like you have to be you don't need 50 pound dumbbells.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Like it's also what you eat, like if you are eating in a surplus, then yeah, you're going to gain a lot of muscle.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: But if you're in a deficit and you're lifting weights, first of all, you are going to look snatched.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I'm a lazy girl.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I'm a lazy girl, and it helps.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Take 45 minutes for yourself in the morning.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: That's all you need.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: 45 minutes.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: And that's the thing.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: My morning routine has changed my life.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And I'll tell you what it is.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Spill your morning routine.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Morning.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: I don't wake up at 6 a.m.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: You will not catch.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: I am still in REM sleep, probably.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm not getting up before 7:30.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Like, there's no need.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: First of all, I see a lot of influencers who are like, my 5 a.m.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: morning routine.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: You don't need to be up at that time.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: No, you literally don't.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: No.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: And you need sleep.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Sleep is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: I kid you not, and I never know that.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: And so I wake up every day, 7, 7:30 sometimes if I'm feeling a little tired.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Um, and what I try not to do is I really try not to be on my phone.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I'll check it.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Listen, I'm not perfect, but I try not to invite the outside world into my world before I've actually woken up, you know?
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: And I think that's a really good rule of thumb, even before you go to bed as well.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: You don't want to go to bed with anxiety.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: No.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: And just to like side note on that, if you wake up and the first thing you do is check your phone, you're not in control.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Like we were talking about control, but it's like you're not in control of what content you consume at that moment.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: And it's you could see something that you didn't want to see.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: And that's like the first moment of your day.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: And that sets your morning routine sets the entire tone for your day.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: So And I've definitely done that.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Like I've opened my phone and like seen an Instagram and then immediately been like, I have anxiety, like for the whole day.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Like the whole day.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: It's like and then you're just thinking, like those thoughts go through your brain, and you're just like, why did I do that to myself?
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: For literally, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Um, so instead of the phone, what I do is I try to get up, I turn off my hatch alarm.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: By the way, my hatch alarm is the best I've ever anything I've ever purchased.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Obsessed.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: If it broke tomorrow, I'd buy it again.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Overnetted.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, overnight it's like maybe even Amazon same day.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Um, but even honestly, like I'm not even going to lie to you, you can get the baby one, and it does the same thing for so much cheaper.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, I just bought that one.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the light and then the sounds in the morning.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: I do like rain sounds to go to sleep, it's like magical.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, so I open my eyes, turn off my hatch, take a deep breath.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Because that's one thing is like you really want to connect your mind and your body.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And I used to think that was so silly, but it is so true.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I grab my journal, I keep it on my nightstand, and I write in the morning, I say, okay, date, here is what I'm grateful for, and I list what I'm grateful for.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: So I list my relationship with yeah, and it makes it so much better.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Like you're starting the day with gratitude.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: So this is what I learned, and this changed like my entire like the way I look at things is your body cannot be grateful and anxious at the same time.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Those two feelings cannot coexist in your brain or in your body at the same time.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: So if you start your day on a grateful note and write all the things that you're grateful for, I personally will write a list of things I'm grateful for and then a little message to God.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Obviously, that is so different for everybody.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: So, like, you do what's best for you.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's even, yeah, even if it's like a letter to yourself, like these are journals you can look back on.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: And I started journaling last year, and in January, I was in such a horrible mindset that I actually recently just read them and it made me want to cry because I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm in such a different place than I was last year, and I can't even believe that this is my life.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Like, if you don't write it down or you don't take notes, like actual notes of like how you're feeling in different times, like it's really easy to just have no clue where you were and where you are now.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Like you just really don't know.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and I love the way you journal.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: I think I think journaling is such a unique and personal thing, like you have to do it the way that it works for you.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: For a while, I was trying to journal like my fiance journals.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: He likes to do it at the beginning of every day, but he likes to look at the day before and say kind of what he did the day before and what was good about that day and stuff like that.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: And I was trying to do that, and I just could not keep it.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the routine, I could not keep it.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Like, I I don't know why it was so hard for me, but what works for me is I do a more of a gratitude practice.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: So I write out like I write out I appreciate it.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: And I write it out in like a sentence each time, and I do a little bit of Like what I currently have, and then also like things that I don't have.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: So like I appreciate that 50k months are easy and effortless, you know, something I don't have, but what I want to bring into my life.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I'm not a big, like, I'm not a big believer in like God, but I am a believer in the universe.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: And so that's my way of connecting with that like source energy at the beginning of the day.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: And I kid you not, it just like it really makes you look at your life and say, Wow, I have so many things, and if I didn't write this down, I wouldn't feel as grateful for those things.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: No.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: And so after that, you know, I try really not to look at my phone until my workout's done.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's inevitable.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I see like my mom text me or like whatever, and I'll like message back.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: But still, I feel like, you know, from the journaling, I get up, I don't make my bed, my boyfriend makes the bed, thankfully.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Love you.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Um but actually, the funny story, the office I'm in right now used to be his childhood bedroom.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: And when we first moved in, uh he had a bed that like was the most difficult bed to ever make, like ever.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Um, so I said, you know what, when we move into the master, I swear, like, once we had a new bed, like I will be the one making it every day.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: That didn't happen.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: That didn't happen.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: And so kids like it's the least they could do, you know.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Right, like sometimes on the weekend he's like, You're gonna make the bed?
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: And like, I'll I'll make the bed, I'll make the bed, I promise.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And I do, I do, but for the most part, I don't make that bed.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, and that's why you never see it in my morning routines.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, so I will get up, I go to use the bathroom, I brush my teeth, I don't wash my face because obviously I'm going to work out, so I don't want to like wash in and sweat it all off and have to do it again.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: So I will get into like a cute workout set.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: That changes everything.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: If and you know what?
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: A cute workout set is different for everybody.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: It yours could be a cute shirt and jeans uh jeans, I hope not, um, but uh what's it called?
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Biker shorts or leggings, whatever it is, sweatpants, that whatever your version of a feel-good workout set is, do it because I mean you gotta be like feeling hot, cute, yeah.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: Going into it.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely, because you're just gonna keep getting hotter.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: And it's just so crazy what these little things could do.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I get dressed, whatever, I go into the living room, I set up my mat, I set up my workout, I do my workout.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: From there, I go wash my face, I do my hair in like a cute little situation.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Like I've been really obsessed with the bubble braids, or I've been doing like a regular braid.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: I'm obsessed.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: I feel like as a kid, my hair, so I have really thick, like wavy hair, like very like it's not curly, but like it's so wavy at the root that it's just like what's going on?
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like what's happening.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Um, so it was so hard as a kid or in high school to ever do anything with my hair that I just fried it with a straightening iron.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Um, so now that I'm like learning things, it's like healing my inner child, and like it's those little things, I swear.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: It is the little things, period.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: If you take anything away from this, it's that it's the little things.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: A hundred is the little things.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna get that tattooed on like my butt or something.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Um obsessed.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Even with that, like after that, I eat, and so like I'm not a huge breakfast person.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: I'm just not like I don't love a whole like spread, you know.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I'm just whatever.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: So I have a protein shake.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: So what I'll do is just again, I don't eat my vegetables, so this makes sense.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Uh I do spinach, banana, uh protein powder, uh peanut butter powder with protein in it, um almond milk and water, and then flax seeds, because you need that fiber.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Um, so then I blend all that up, I take my greens, I drink that, and then um from there I make myself a cute drink, whether it's coffee, tea, whatever I'm feeling, I let myself have it because you don't want to restrict.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: You want something fun that's going to like, okay, let's go get to work, let's go get this done.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: I have my cute little drink, and that's it, you know?
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Again, the little things.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: So I start work and um yeah, so from there I'm just working, and then that's where the split comes in.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: So I work from probably like 9 to 12:30, and then I go to the gym, and it looks different like when it's warmer, it's just really cold here, so I can't walk outside.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: Um, but in the spring I'll be like splitting the gym and outside because I got a gym membership in September, no, October, and I was like, mm, I don't know if I'm really gonna like this.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, I'm not gonna get rid of it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I'm just going to like split it up.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: But yeah, so I go from like 1245 to maybe like 130 slash 145 and sauna.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: That is like the one thing that helps me like take a deep breath after my workouts and also return to work with a clear head because I'm not focused on anything else.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: I play like some like healing frequencies or like stress frequencies changes your life.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: Like I can't it really does.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know what's it does, like the heat, like it's like all that negative energy, you're sweating it out.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I come home, eat a bounced lunch.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: I usually have I eat the same thing every day, like I'm insane, so don't take this tip from me.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: But I do like um two eggs.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Uh sometimes I do the chicken meatballs or turkey bacon, whatever it is.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: If I do turkey bacon, my lunch is 40 grams of protein.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: If I do the chicken meatballs, it's 44 grams of protein.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Um, and so like I've been focusing on more like heavier meals, so I'm less snacky at the end of the night.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: Because that was my biggest thing, especially when I was smoking.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: I quit, but like when I was smoking, I would like eat everything inside.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: I would want every snack, everything, like give it to me now.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Um, which I'll talk about the smoking part, but yeah, so whatever.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: So from there, I take a shower, eat, go back to work, and then I'm so much more motivated to get things done.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: It's literally like getting two days out of one.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you get a full reset instead of like dragging through the exactly that like midday slump, yes, you just like get a reboot instead.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: It's like charging batteries, like literally, and yeah, it's changed my life.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: I will shout it from the rooftops, like the workday split.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: And obviously, a lot of people can't do that.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: And so, like, I'm very grateful for the you know opportunity that I do have to have a work-from-home job like this.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: But there's so many ways that you can do this for yourself, even if you are working, like yeah, I'm like, but totally if you wanted to, like, even if you're working a corporate job, like you could go for a walk or no.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: I've seen there's this girl who commutes from Connecticut, so she's on TikTok, but she commutes from Connecticut to New York City.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: So she wakes up at 5 a.m., works out, gets ready, go.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, like, but that kills me.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: But she has to, yeah, literally, like, you got it, girl.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Um, so she does all that.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: Also, she also is a full-time content creator.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: So my god.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: She works a full-time corporate job and does all that.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: So she goes to work from work, she goes to some workout class in New York City or she goes for a walk or whatever it is, goes home, eats, does like all of her editing and stuff, and then goes to bed.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: But like the thing is, is like if you want to, you will.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Like my mom's so like so hard to tell people that because it is because you were just like, girl, I don't care.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like I feel like someone's gonna listen to this and be like, I don't know, like, I just can't, like, I can't do that.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: And it's like, you need to, first of all, don't try to do it all at once.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Don't try to do it all at once.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, like, yes, you can, and you you can, and like you just have to make it happen.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: If yeah, it's like what we say about guys where like if they wanted to, they would.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Like, if you wanted to, you would, and you might not want to right now.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: That's and that's okay.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's okay too, because you're gonna get to a point where you're like that my life is not serving me.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: This is not serving where I want to be, and you'll realize the steps that you have to take.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Listen, I didn't start working out 45 minutes a day.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: I didn't, and it took me a while to get to that place, and now I feel stronger than ever, I feel better than ever.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: I could probably box my boyfriend if I wanted to.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: I don't want to, but I probably could.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: But I could, but I could, but I could no, and that's the best part too is when you start working on yourself, the people in your life want to start working on themselves.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: My boyfriend goes to the gym with me every day.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, every day.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: That's why picking a good partner is so important.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Um and I also, yeah, one thing, so I've been watching you and your journey over the last year.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, we are we're just always in touch, you know.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: And I of course watch what you do, and I'm always like your biggest cheerleader.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Um and I like over the last year, over like 2024, I that was like it was a big year for me in my business in the sense of like I had to figure out balance.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Like I was doing too much.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: I couldn't go to the gym because truthfully, like I had too much to do.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: And I hated that.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: I hated that excuse, and I knew it was an excuse, but it was like this is where I'm at.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: And I think around September or October of last year, again, watching you, I was like, you know what?
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't need to all of a sudden go to the gym every day.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: I don't all of a sudden need to like have this perfect routine, etc.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: etc.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm gonna start small.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: And so like I decided my morning routine was where I would start.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: It wasn't going to the gym, it wasn't getting 10K steps.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: It was like, I'm gonna wake up, I'm gonna do my gratitude practice that I love doing.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna eat breakfast because I'm so bad at that.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: Like, I just don't eat breakfast, which is honestly so bad for you.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: You need to eat breakfast.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm going to do some sort of movement before I start the day, which wasn't working out really or anything.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: It was like getting up and like moving around the house, not just going from my bed to like my desk.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, and getting ready.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: That was the thing, too.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Is I was like, do like full beat, like I don't care, I'm doing I'm getting ready every day.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: 100% and then I got that down, and then towards the end of the year, like November, December, I was like, okay, I'm gonna go back to yoga.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: I like to do hot yoga.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love it.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go back to yoga.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: And part of me is like, if I'm not all in, I'm not gonna do it.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: And I was like, you know what?
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: That's not like that healthy.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Because if you try to go every day, you're not gonna go every day, you're gonna feel like a failure, and you're gonna quit.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Exactly, I'm gonna try to go once a week to yoga.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's I did, yeah.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: Like, so just those baby steps, because then it's like you build trust with yourself by saying, Yes, I'm gonna go once a week, and you go once a week, and then you're like, great, I can trust myself.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: Uh, now I want to go twice a week.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: So now I've been going twice a week.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's that consistent, like doing what you say you're gonna do.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: And I think people put they do it too big, they try to change it all at once, and it's like you're gonna slip up and you're gonna feel bad about yourself because you're 100% what you said you were going to do, and that's not gonna help you.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: No, but yeah, the thing too is everyone's goals are so different.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: So, where I'm going to the gym all the time and I'm doing these things, maybe my routine helps them see okay, yeah, my goal's not weight loss, my goal is not building muscle or doing anything of that sort, but my goal is just doing things for myself, so that might look like reading more, that might look like you know getting a new hobby.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, drinking, but it's so true.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do like zero to 100.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: And I at first like I lost 20 pounds, and I was like, wow, I feel good, but then I lost the 20 pounds, and you're not losing anything after that.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: You're just kind of staying a plateau, and I didn't realize at this time because obviously I didn't have any experience in the fitness world, I never worked out in my life.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: Like my mom used to be a fitness uh, she used to do CrossFit and all those crazy things.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: She still works out, and she has like a four-year-old, and well, my brother is four.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: Um, and she finds time in the day to work from home, take care of my brother, do her workouts, walk on the treadmill, like all those things.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: And so for me, when she was trying to tell me as like a teen or like whatever, you need to work out, you need to work out, you need to work out, you know, I was like, girl, no.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: And she one time, like I gained a lot of weight in high school, like a lot of weight.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: Um it happens, and yeah, no, like whatever, like we're going through hormones and like whatever, but she used to make me go on a run and prove it to her.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: So that created a really, really bad relationship with working out because I was being punished.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: So right there, I was like, whoa, like I don't like working out, I hate working out.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: That made me also hate running.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: So last year I said, you know what?
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Screw this.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna hold on to that anger or that like trauma, because that's what it is.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: When you are being forced to go on a mile run and prove it to somebody, like that's kind of cynical when you really think about it.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um not good.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: So I said to myself, screw it, I'm gonna run.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: And I started to run a little bit.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: So this year in the spring, my plan is to start running at least like a mile or two a week because in fall I want to run a 5k because just to shove it, because I can, I absolutely can.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: That's so funny.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: I I mean it's not funny, that's traumatic.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: But no, but it's like I grew up a big like you know, yeah.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: I grew up um doing competitive cheerleading and high school cheerleading.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: And what if you've ever been, I mean, you probably had this in softball, but it's like if you've ever been in like a sport, they use exercise as punishment.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: So like if you're late, you're gonna get a demerit, you're gonna run a mile, like they use you know, you're gonna do a three-minute plank hold if you don't hit your routine like perfectly, you know, it's a punishment to work out, and so then you get out of that, you're no longer in an organized sport, and you're like, I don't want to work out.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: That sounds like dreadful because it has been dreadful for you in the past and it's just not, which is it's really hard to unlearn that.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: And the other interesting thing that you're saying is about running.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: I hated running, and I think it was because of that.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: We I even did track in high school, but then once it became like a punishment to run, like with my cheer teams and stuff, it was like, I don't want to freaking you couldn't pay me to run.
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: And then I got divorced and I was like, I'm gonna need like to do something, or I'm gonna go truly psychotic.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: So I just woke up one day and I was like, I want to go for a run.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: And I started running, like, I think I ran one mile that day and I was like, Woof, okay, haven't done that in a year.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: Like that was kind of crazy.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: But then I I had the bug and I was like, I want to freaking run.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: So I started just going for runs, like I would go two miles, three miles, whatever.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: And then um, at the time with my therapist, sh I was obviously having trust issues because I had just gotten divorced, which is similar to like the trust issues with just like your mom for yeah, the how she's raised you and things like that um in your childhood.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I'm gonna build trust with myself by signing up for a half marathon and doing it.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, there's no other option, I'm gonna do it.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: So I trained through the summer and then I did a half marathon in the fall.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: And it was just like such a beautiful moment because not only did I build that trust with myself, and like when I finished the half marathon, I was like, hell yeah, like I did it, but it also repaired that relationship with working out, yeah, where it used to be a punishment and now it's for fun, it's for me, it's because what I for your mental I like to do.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, and that's exactly why I want to run the 5K.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: I want to do it for myself.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: Like uh me and my mom are doing a lot better now.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: She is um sober, two years, I think three years almost, and it's amazing, you know, it's great.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: Um, she's so much better for my brother, and that's all we could ask for.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: But, you know, she was like, Oh, like you should just do the 5k with us.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, no, I want to do it for myself.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: I want at the end of it for my boyfriend to be standing there watching me and celebrating.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: And I want to go out to lunch after and make it a thing because it's a big thing.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: It's me getting over, it's not just a run to me, you know.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: It's like being able to just get it done.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: So now saying it here, I have to do it now.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: No, but I I do plan.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: I'm doing it.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: I might even like make a whole like post on it, like, or maybe take them through my journey of like trading for the 5k.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: Um, because I'm also doing uh I'm going away Janu.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Uh no, what?
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: I'm going away.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: I'm going away April to DR, just uh to my boyfriend's family.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: We go, we try to go like twice a year.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: Um and so when I come back, I'm going to be doing 75 Hard, just because I want to prove it to myself.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: It's a lot harder than 75 soft.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: It's a lot like less, how do I say, like attainable?
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: If like, yeah, no, it's like it's less soft.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's less, it's less soft.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: Um, but basically what it is is like drink okay, one thing I'm not going to do is drink a gallon of water.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: It's not healthy.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Like, you don't need that much water.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Listen to your body.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, like listen, I'm not doing that.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: But I guess it won't be fully 75 hard, but I'm going to try my hardest to do it.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: It's an indoor 45-minute workout, an outdoor 45-minute workout, which for me will just be a walk or a run, whatever I choose that day.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: Um, a diet.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: So, what I'm gonna do is not a real diet, but the animal-based diet.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: So, just focusing on whole foods and all those things.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: Um, and then uh read 10 pages of a non-fiction book, so it has to be like a real book.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: So, I'm gonna read the Let Them Theory.
- 40:43SPEAKER_00: Oh good.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm so excited for that.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: Um, so I'm gonna do that, and then I think the other thing is no, I think that's actually it.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna do that.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: It's pretty attainable-ish.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: You can do it, for sure.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: You can do it.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we see that's no alcohol.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that's not a worry for me because I don't drink.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: So yeah, luckily, she's good.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: She's good.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: My parents ruined that for me as a child, so I'm I'm good.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: That really is how it goes.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: And honestly, like, slightly, you know, I think it's and that's what I think has helped my journey a lot.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of people say that alcohol really holds them back in their like fitness journey.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, like, thank goodness, you know, like I'm not mad about it.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Sometimes if I go out with friends, I'll have like a high noon or whatever, but like I'm nursing that thing all night.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: And that's beautiful.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: It doesn't taste good.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: Like, truly, watching your transformation has been incredible because I have known you for like quite a few years now.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: Like, honestly, it's been like two years, just through social media, and I really have watched it.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Like, I watched you be like, you know, kind of mad at the world, and I never judged you.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: I was like, girl, like, hell yeah, there's a lot of things you can be mad about.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I never judged you, but I have like watched that internal shift for you, and I think like it really is clear in how you show up for your business on social media, and it's just clear in like the way you speak and the way you're doing everything.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: So I think it's beautiful, and I'm so proud of you.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: That's so that's something like the weight loss to me.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool, great.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: Like, that's awesome.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: But honestly, the way I carry myself now is just like it makes me feel so much better because I didn't like the person that I heard on podcasts.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: I didn't like the person I heard when I would like read textbacks with my friends.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: I didn't like the person that I saw on my Instagram sometimes when my content was just like a little, you know, bitchy.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't really like that.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: And of course, at the end of the day, like controversial content can be great, but do it in a way that's like not harsh.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Like, so I think for me, what it was is realizing like the people you surround yourself with as well.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: Like, I am not afraid to cut anybody off.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: Like, if you are not, and that's something I'm dealing with like right now.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: Like, I I unfollowed someone on Instagram, they like messaged me, like, why'd you unfollow me?
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: First of all, I would you'll never catch me doing that.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: Like, does it like what why are you asking me?
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, like, whatever.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: So weird.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: It was somebody who was just not serving my life anymore, and I felt like all they were doing was watching.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: So, what I did was I unfollowed them, and then I had them unfollow me because I'm not gonna be rude.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Of course, you don't have to follow me after I unfollowed you, you know.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what a beautiful thing.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: In that sense, right?
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: So, but I think when you realize people are just like kind of like being there to watch what you're doing, or like take like inspo from your life, but never compliment you, never like anything, just watch.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: It's just like, well, uh it this is my social media, you don't need to be here.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: And like you're making me feel the weird on my page, no way.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Like, but that's so powerful when you can realize that these people are no longer serving you.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't mean that they're a bad person.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: No, not at all.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: I wish this person so much goodness.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: Because at the end of the day, who am I?
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Like, at the end of the day, I just want better for myself.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: And if that means that I don't associate myself with certain people anymore, that's okay.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: We're all exactly.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: And like, I just want people who are like kind of like, listen, I have a best friend from high school.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Me and her are like sisters.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: We can disagree about things and laugh about it and be like, who cares?
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: Like, that has nothing to do with my friendship.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: Who cares?
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Like, but there's a lot of people who can't do that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: So it's like, why am I gonna sit here arguing with you?
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: I will never friendship should be easy, and friendship should be something that you know adds value to your life.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Someone you can go out with and like build each other up and all those things, not have drama and like beat people down, you know?
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Friendships are a place for you to say what you think and not be judged for it.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, it's like this is how I feel, and I know I I know that's crazy.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: And please just love me anyways.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: Like, that's right how friends are.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: But not in this generation, sometimes, unfortunately.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, you like don't agree, and they're like, sorry, I can never talk to you again.
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: Like, I do have done like how are you?
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: I can't get on that train.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: I don't like it.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: No, no, you know what?
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: You get to a point with your life where you say, Stop serving me, and I'm not going to let you bring me down.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: I'm not because listen, I used to be someone who, again, was so angry.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: So what would I do?
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: I'd sit there, gossip, gossip, sit, you know.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: But then it's like people could be saying the same thing about me and what, you know, like you shouldn't, you're nobody to speak on anybody else's life.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: And I feel like, okay, there's there's innocent ways to gossip, of course.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: Like if you're talking about a celebrity or like whatever, like, but like an influencer, whatever it might be.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: But if you are directly talking about the people in your life, it's just like in a bad grab it up.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, that was like one of my biggest, that is one of my biggest things for this year, is like the gossip.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Like, no, I'm not, I'm not here to gossip with you.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Like, no, and because I found myself kind of doing it like in situations where I was feeling uncomfortable.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: Like, if I was in a new environment with new people or people I didn't know that well, like that's where I would be tempted to like gossip about like this or that, and like blah blah blah, like shit on it's like so easy to connect with people over shitting over on like the same person or thing, and that is disgusting.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like it's not like a valuable friendship, no, and it's like why don't we just instead of that talk about like each other's lives or something we like to do?
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like that is so crazy to me.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: And I was like catching myself doing it, and I'm like, no, I'm not gonna be able to do it.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: It makes you feel so icky, but the thing is, is there was a time in my life where I didn't feel icky, so I'm glad that now I do, and like I feel like now that I have less friends, I feel so much better because like I have a friend who I just kind of became friends with, my uh boyfriend's friend's girlfriend.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: Like, she and I hang out because they hang out, and for a while it was just kind of like, oh, we hung out because they hung out, but then it got to a point where we realized that like we have a lot of the same interests, and she is someone who is so down to earth, so nice.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Like, she is not, she's just not like a lot of other people.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: And when you have someone in your life like that, you hold on to them and you pour into them, and they'll pour into you as well, and you just realize that like like this is what girlhood's about, this is what friends are for, you know.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, friends should not make you feel shitty.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's crazy to me because like you would not catch me in a friendship where I felt annoying or like that not wanted, not a chance.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like I will just never speak to you again and like I don't care, and I'll be okay with that.
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like you won't catch me there because like what are you gonna do?
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: Put yourself in circles where people don't want you there.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I never want to be somewhere I'm not wanted.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: A hundred percent.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll be home playing sims.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: You're good.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: I'll be sewing, catch me with my sewing machine.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: That's all.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Goodbye.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I'm good.
- 48:41SPEAKER_00: I rather be home than out and doing like there's times where I'll go out and that's great, and I have a great time, but then there's weekends where I just want to be home and in my space that I pay for and I've curated to be my comfy space, and it's just I don't know.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: I feel like back to what you said about having a partner who is just like like amazing.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: All you really want to do is spend your time with them and like pour into them and all those things, like you are my best friend.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, you have to have a good partner, and I can say because I've been freaking married and divorced, it makes all the difference in how you show up in the world, how your business is, like your wealth, your health, your all of those things.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Everything, yeah, it's all of it because that's the person you're spending the most time with.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: And like if their energy isn't on the same level as yours, like, mm-mm, no, we're not.
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: Imagine down the line, like you guys aren't agreeing, you guys aren't like whatever, and then you guys don't have the same hobbies or like similar hobbies at that.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: Like, my boyfriend likes to play his game with his friends, and I'm on Sims.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't mind, play your game.
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: I don't care if you play all night, but like a lot of people will just be like, Why are you playing your game?
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: You're a bum.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: This mess.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Like, no, at the end of the day, that is their time to relax.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: They have like stressing jobs, they have things that they're dealing with all day.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: Like, if you want to come home and play your game, go ahead.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not your mom.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: And like, and like you what you said about you, you getting a gym membership, and then like your partner wants to, like, literally, yeah.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: Like, the second I went back to yoga, my partner was like, I'm gonna start boxing.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I love it.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love it.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: Like, go box, you go to boxing, I'll go to yoga.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: Like, we're both we're getting better, like for ourselves and for each other, and like that's what you want in life.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: You want someone to lift you up like that.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: Exactly, exactly.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: Gorgeous.
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for being on the podcast today.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: And of course, make sure that you're following Brie.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: I'll tag her Instagram.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: Um, join her broadcast channel if you want some daily encouragement.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: And yeah, Brie's just amazing.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you for being here.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Thank you for having me.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: And no, you are amazing.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: I was so happy when you asked me if I wanted to come back on.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: Like down the line, I'll come back on again if you want me.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, absolutely.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, we'll talk soon.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Bye.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Bye.
