- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line. Second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. One
- 0:34Speaker 1: of twelves. We're listening to Hawks Live, the recap edition.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It was a tough weekend for Washington sports in general.
- 0:40Speaker 1: We're talking about the Seallow Seahawks. They lose seventeen to
- 0:43Speaker 1: twelve to the New York Giants, something we did not expected.
- 0:46Speaker 1: To get more insight, we're bringing in Ray Roberts is
- 0:49Speaker 1: getting the trenches. It's time to go inside the trenches
- 0:54Speaker 1: with former Seahawk Ray Roberts. All right, big Ray, first
- 1:00Speaker 1: impressions which you got for me? I wish I had
- 1:05Speaker 1: something really good to chairman, But honestly, the first impression
- 1:09Speaker 1: is like just watching the game and then coming home
- 1:12Speaker 1: and uh, rewatching it again, and rewatching it again. I
- 1:15Speaker 1: watched the game twice before I went to sleep last night.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Uh and and I just feel like defense had a
- 1:23Speaker 1: winning effort. Obviously that you know, if you could take
- 1:26Speaker 1: the third quarterback, they would they would they would like
- 1:29Speaker 1: that back. But then offensively, I just think for the
- 1:32Speaker 1: first time in my career covering the team that Russell
- 1:37Speaker 1: just really had a tough day all the way around.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Whether it was uh, you know, trusting what he was saying,
- 1:45Speaker 1: holding the ball too long, uh, just some of the
- 1:48Speaker 1: decision making he was that he made, like even as
- 1:51Speaker 1: a couple of passes that would like really risky passes,
- 1:53Speaker 1: like even the first drive, try to squeeze the ball
- 1:56Speaker 1: in I think to David Moore between two defenders and
- 1:59Speaker 1: things like that. So it's just like it didn't look
- 2:01Speaker 1: like Russell man, and it just uh and it puts
- 2:03Speaker 1: me in some kind of way because you don't want to,
- 2:05Speaker 1: you know, Russell has done so many great things you
- 2:08Speaker 1: don't want to, you know, pile on. But it's like sometimes, man,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you just gotta put that thing on and where it
- 2:13Speaker 1: and and uh and hold yourself account with and keep
- 2:15Speaker 1: it moving, you know. Yeah, and I and I think
- 2:18Speaker 1: he'll do that, and I hope they'll do that. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: spoke to Pee Carroll earlier. He said he's gonna do it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So it's tell the truth Monday. So now let's talk
- 2:25Speaker 1: about these sacks. You're gonna look at the sacks and
- 2:27Speaker 1: people are gonna automatically point to the offensive line, right,
- 2:30Speaker 1: But what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna point out Russell.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna point out receivers getting open. I think it
- 2:34Speaker 1: was a combination of things. What are your thoughts there? Yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 1: I would agree, and like the one. The one reason
- 2:40Speaker 1: I watched the game twice, it's just because as soon
- 2:43Speaker 1: as the quarterback struggles and the first thing people look
- 2:47Speaker 1: to is the offensive line. Oh well, you know he
- 2:50Speaker 1: had a lot of pressure. You know, he couldn't you know,
- 2:54Speaker 1: there's a you know, coming right at him and all
- 2:56Speaker 1: this other kind of stuff. And when I looked at
- 2:58Speaker 1: the game and they want to say, well, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 1: the team has been struggling, you know, because of the
- 3:03Speaker 1: right tackle spot and Shale not been there. Jamarco Jones
- 3:06Speaker 1: played a winning effort yesterday. H did he give up
- 3:09Speaker 1: a pressure or two. Yeah, but I mean Shelle has
- 3:12Speaker 1: given up pressure a pressure too. Here. He played well
- 3:15Speaker 1: in the run game. Uh. The offensive line had a
- 3:18Speaker 1: couple they got beat on a couple of line stunts,
- 3:21Speaker 1: they gave up a couple of sacks. But other than that,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Russell Wilson had time to sew the ball and uh.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And so I just wanted to reaffirm to myself and
- 3:30Speaker 1: I thought that the offensive line had to win an
- 3:32Speaker 1: effort and if they would have been able to run
- 3:34Speaker 1: the ball more, it would have been even better. Because
- 3:37Speaker 1: Chris Carson at at halftime was averaging almost nine yards
- 3:40Speaker 1: to carry. By the end of the game, that was
- 3:42Speaker 1: around five or two yards to carry. But it's like
- 3:45Speaker 1: he was averaging half a first down like every time
- 3:48Speaker 1: he touched the ball. So weren't we running the ball more? Like?
- 3:50Speaker 1: You know, I said that when they came out in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the second half that they should they should, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: stabilize the offense by running the ball and just letting
- 3:58Speaker 1: getting back into a rhythm that way, then getting back
- 4:00Speaker 1: to the passing game. I just don't think they did
- 4:02Speaker 1: anything to get the Giants defense out of how they
- 4:06Speaker 1: wanted to play football. We didn't put pressure on them
- 4:09Speaker 1: when there were opportunities to where there was a miscompletion
- 4:12Speaker 1: or holding on the ball too long or you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I looked at the film. I don't recall one single
- 4:18Speaker 1: time where we ran the ball two times in the row.
- 4:21Speaker 1: There was a run and then the playoshation pass, and
- 4:23Speaker 1: then a run, and then the playoshation pass and then
- 4:25Speaker 1: a run and the play asham pass the entire game.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And so I just think they left yardage on the
- 4:30Speaker 1: field in the run game. You know who did run
- 4:33Speaker 1: the ball. The Giants ran the football the rest for
- 4:36Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety yards. Now that could be deceiving rocks.
- 4:39Speaker 1: There were two really big plays, like a sixty yard
- 4:41Speaker 1: run in like a twenty five thirty yard run. Do
- 4:44Speaker 1: you feel like the Giants wore this defense down running
- 4:48Speaker 1: the rock or do you just say, you know what,
- 4:50Speaker 1: they hit on a couple big plays. You know what
- 4:53Speaker 1: what I saw, particularly in the third quarter, because I
- 4:57Speaker 1: think that they had a little bit of success running
- 5:00Speaker 1: the ball in the first half, like they you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: they had a four yard game here, five yard game,
- 5:05Speaker 1: But I think that they felt like they were on
- 5:06Speaker 1: the verge of really popping a couple of runs, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: when they went in at the half time, they said,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know what, We're gonna lean on this running game,
- 5:14Speaker 1: because when they came out in the second half, the
- 5:18Speaker 1: Giants offensive lines and lineman and tight ends, they just
- 5:23Speaker 1: looked like they wanted to finish just a little bit
- 5:25Speaker 1: more than the Seahawks did on defense. And I think
- 5:28Speaker 1: that called the Seahawks self guard because you saw there
- 5:31Speaker 1: was one run where it looked like the running back
- 5:33Speaker 1: got hit like two or three yards in the hole,
- 5:37Speaker 1: but he ended up gaining like another six yards because
- 5:39Speaker 1: the tight end was blocking Jamal and everybody was blocking
- 5:43Speaker 1: their guy and they just kept pushing and the dude
- 5:44Speaker 1: just kept running and the Seahawks didn't get off blocks
- 5:48Speaker 1: on that on that long run. Everyone you know we're
- 5:51Speaker 1: at Initially we were saying like, hey, Bobby needed to
- 5:53Speaker 1: scrape outside and force that back to the inside, back
- 5:57Speaker 1: to the safety that was running that lane. Well, if
- 6:00Speaker 1: you look at the place kJ Wright was getting crushed,
- 6:04Speaker 1: he got blocked all the way back into Bobby, and
- 6:07Speaker 1: so so Bobby couldn't get to the Bobby was trying
- 6:09Speaker 1: to get to the outside and and kJ Wright got
- 6:12Speaker 1: blocked into Bobby then they had two linemen pulling in
- 6:15Speaker 1: in front of the running back. There's no way Bobby
- 6:19Speaker 1: would have been able to get over there to force
- 6:21Speaker 1: that back inside. So there were there were there were.
- 6:23Speaker 1: If you look at the way they ran the ball
- 6:25Speaker 1: in the third quarter, their desire to finish blocks were
- 6:29Speaker 1: stronger and more successful than our desire to get off
- 6:32Speaker 1: the blocks and uh. And so that lapse in UH
- 6:36Speaker 1: and our performance on defense and the third quarter really
- 6:39Speaker 1: costs the defense unbelievable outing where they could have shut
- 6:43Speaker 1: this offense down and they could have pushed a shut out. Uh.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And then because of that, they were able to capture
- 6:49Speaker 1: this two score league, you know, was with us contributing
- 6:52Speaker 1: to the turnovers. And then just then it just made
- 6:54Speaker 1: it a tough day for the Seals offense. Yeah, I'm
- 6:57Speaker 1: with you. A lot went wrong, not a lot went right.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But next week these guys got the Jets. Is this
- 7:03Speaker 1: the biggest get right game of all time? You cannot
- 7:06Speaker 1: lose to the all in forever Jets, big ray. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 1: And you can't lose when they dis fired the defensive
- 7:12Speaker 1: coordinator either. So it's like they this is a get
- 7:16Speaker 1: right game in every sense of the word. The defense
- 7:19Speaker 1: will continue to get better because they've been getting better
- 7:22Speaker 1: the last three or four weeks. They're gonna, I feel
- 7:24Speaker 1: like they are. They have decided who they are and
- 7:27Speaker 1: what they can do. They just can't get surprised by
- 7:29Speaker 1: a team all of a sudden saying you know what,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think we can be a little bit more physical,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and then that kind of getting us on the chain.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It kind of stunned us a little bit. But then
- 7:37Speaker 1: on offense, I'm telling you, bro Like, and I'm I
- 7:41Speaker 1: hate saying it, but this whole let Russ clip thing through,
- 7:44Speaker 1: this whole offense out of whack, I'm telling you, because
- 7:48Speaker 1: there was too much emphasis on pushing the ball down
- 7:51Speaker 1: the field, being aggressive, scoring touchdowns, pushing Russell Wilson MVP
- 7:57Speaker 1: stuff and all this stuff and and and as as
- 7:59Speaker 1: cool as Rustle is to do this human and to
- 8:02Speaker 1: have all that talk and all that hype and all
- 8:04Speaker 1: this stuff, and all to let Russ put signs and
- 8:07Speaker 1: he had his applying for the trademark, call this stuff.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You start buying into that, and you're not going to
- 8:12Speaker 1: tell me you're not distracted by it, And so I
- 8:14Speaker 1: think it did distract them. And then because they were
- 8:17Speaker 1: sold onto that the running game became an afterthought, and
- 8:21Speaker 1: so now they're having a hard time really putting them
- 8:24Speaker 1: both together. And then then patient enough to stay with
- 8:27Speaker 1: what how you put them both together a couple of
- 8:30Speaker 1: weeks ago look beautiful, and then all of a sudden,
- 8:32Speaker 1: two weeks in the row, you can't figure out how
- 8:34Speaker 1: to marry the running game and a passing game together.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And you have all of these weapons, you have all
- 8:39Speaker 1: the pieces. You have a good offensive line, MVP type quarterbacks,
- 8:44Speaker 1: top five or ten running backs. You know, you know
- 8:47Speaker 1: one of the probably be best wide receiver in the
- 8:49Speaker 1: game right now at this moment. You know a good
- 8:52Speaker 1: second and a third receiver, tight ends that are capable.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And you can't figure out how to put a comprehensive
- 8:58Speaker 1: game plan together to put a pressure on an inferior
- 9:01Speaker 1: team even though they have a good defense. Uh, that
- 9:04Speaker 1: is just unacceptable. Yep. I'm with you, Ray, and I
- 9:09Speaker 1: hope that tell the truth Monday is exactly what it
- 9:12Speaker 1: is and they get back to the drawing board and
- 9:15Speaker 1: make things happen. Ray, always appreciate your inside big homie.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna catch up with him, yes, sir, hanging that
- 9:21Speaker 1: big done all right? NASA, Shoby, tell me what happened,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Please see what had happened. At first, what had happened
- 9:32Speaker 1: was unhard. What had happened was well, let me tell
- 9:39Speaker 1: you something, man, that felt bad. It just is what
- 9:41Speaker 1: it was. Man. I mean, I'm not gonna put a
- 9:44Speaker 1: nice spin on it. Are gonna lie about it. It
- 9:46Speaker 1: just was not a good football game for the Seahawks.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I'm starting to finish it was. It was tough, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: it was just really surprising. I think this is a
- 9:53Speaker 1: really good football team. You know, good this football team is.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We know in their preparation they did not take the
- 9:57Speaker 1: Giant slightly. We knew they had a good defense. We
- 10:00Speaker 1: just didn't execute and we just didn't have it. And
- 10:03Speaker 1: special teams played well. But other than that, you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: defense played all for the most part, and the offense
- 10:07Speaker 1: has really struggled getting things together. You look at how
- 10:10Speaker 1: the game started. Opening drive started off great, he felt good.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Carson boom five yard run, lock it, six yard pass,
- 10:16Speaker 1: Carson eleven yard run, lock it, twenty four yard pass,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Carson eleven yard run. So they were moving the football
- 10:23Speaker 1: from that moment on. Offensively, it did not go well.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Downhill three incomplete passes, set up for a field goal
- 10:29Speaker 1: and bump. You look at this drive chart, man, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: it was not happening offensively. You look at the drive
- 10:35Speaker 1: chart after that, nass punt, punt, fumble, punt into half, punt, turnover,
- 10:41Speaker 1: on downs, punt interception, touchdown. This is not a drive
- 10:45Speaker 1: chart that we are used to see. But despite all
- 10:46Speaker 1: of that, with a minute forty eight left, they still
- 10:49Speaker 1: had the ball, two timeouts and only down five points.
- 10:53Speaker 1: The crazy part was I didn't feel the magic. You know,
- 10:56Speaker 1: usually in those situations that you feel the magic with
- 10:58Speaker 1: Russell Wilson and that offense, but just something it just
- 11:01Speaker 1: didn't feel right, you know. And they're gonna be days
- 11:03Speaker 1: like that. We just didn't expect to have this day
- 11:05Speaker 1: against an NFC East team. Really shocked. I'm still in
- 11:11Speaker 1: shock right now. Like I woke up this morning, I'm like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: twelve points. There's no way the team only put up
- 11:15Speaker 1: twelve points. There the third leading scoring team in the NFL.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I know the Giants deepens is legit. I believe they
- 11:21Speaker 1: are number five against the run. They're nineteen against the
- 11:25Speaker 1: past ten, tenth overall, probably bumped up to like ninth
- 11:28Speaker 1: or eighth after this game. So respect to the Giants,
- 11:31Speaker 1: but I felt like it was more of what the
- 11:33Speaker 1: Seahawks didn't do. Oh, no question about it. And you
- 11:35Speaker 1: look at it in Russell Wilson, he struggled. I mean
- 11:38Speaker 1: he was twenty seven or forty three, two hundred and
- 11:40Speaker 1: six three yards, one touchdown, one interception, was sack five times.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And third downs have been an issue for the team
- 11:47Speaker 1: all season. They were four or thirteen, but it was
- 11:50Speaker 1: the type of it was how that four or thirteen went.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Of those thirteen third downs Seahawks face, most of them
- 11:56Speaker 1: are third and long. You had a third and ten,
- 11:58Speaker 1: a third and eighteen, a third and sixteen, a third
- 12:01Speaker 1: and nineteen a third and fifteen which they got bailed
- 12:04Speaker 1: out by a defensive hold in a third and ten.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You're not gonna win games. I don't care what offense
- 12:08Speaker 1: you have. I don't care if you're Patrick Mahomes. I
- 12:10Speaker 1: don't care if Tom Brady, I don't care if you
- 12:12Speaker 1: go back to Joe Montana. It doesn't matter. When you
- 12:14Speaker 1: were facing third and ten plus six times in a
- 12:17Speaker 1: football game, you're not gonna score. It's it's not winning football.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And it's just it's disappointing because you get behind the sticks,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and then once you get into that type of game
- 12:25Speaker 1: that they're in, it's hard to go back to Chris
- 12:27Speaker 1: Carson didn't run the football because you're down. So I mean, honestly,
- 12:31Speaker 1: like you said, it's the Seahawks were a better football team.
- 12:34Speaker 1: They just unfortunately perform my kid on Sunday. No, they didn't,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and despite all that, they still racked up three hundred
- 12:40Speaker 1: and twenty seven yards. The defense did well against the
- 12:43Speaker 1: Giants on third down. The Giants were three of twelve
- 12:46Speaker 1: on third down and held the Giant scoreless in the
- 12:49Speaker 1: first half, but have massive breakdowns in the second half.
- 12:52Speaker 1: They rushed for one hundred nine yards of Giants ninety
- 12:55Speaker 1: six Lettles came on three carries, so there's some positive
- 12:58Speaker 1: the defense turning the corner. They're playing well. Offense, gotta
- 13:02Speaker 1: catch up. Let's go over to playmakers. Playmakers, all right?
- 13:16Speaker 1: First playmaker every week consistent talking about this dude, DK
- 13:20Speaker 1: Metcalf five receptions for eighty yards and the stiff arm
- 13:23Speaker 1: for the ages, good and inspirations. He makes grown men
- 13:27Speaker 1: look like little boys. I would not want to be
- 13:31Speaker 1: if I'm a dB and I'm going up to tackle
- 13:33Speaker 1: DK I'm aiming at the shins. I'm not. I'm not
- 13:36Speaker 1: hitting the upper half of his body at all, no way,
- 13:38Speaker 1: no question about it. I think Stephen Cohen from The Athletic,
- 13:41Speaker 1: he had a tweet the other that made me laugh.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He was like, century Link Field is or excuse me,
- 13:45Speaker 1: Lumen Field is ninety eight percent turf, two percent James
- 13:49Speaker 1: Bradberry because he was put into the turf. Holy smoked.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I mean that, I'm not gonna lie. That's sending jews
- 13:55Speaker 1: throughout the stadium. That was a massive stiff arm. He's
- 13:58Speaker 1: in the weight room. You can see that was a
- 14:00Speaker 1: weight room momentum. Not the craziest game. He didn't go
- 14:03Speaker 1: for ten for one hundred and seventy seven like he
- 14:05Speaker 1: did last week, but he's so effective. There's a ball
- 14:08Speaker 1: he potentially could have caught for a bigger game, but
- 14:10Speaker 1: DKs DK. Even when the offense isn't going good, he's
- 14:13Speaker 1: still gonna make his plays, still gonna do what he'd do.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Chris Carson, another playmaker. Thirteen cares for sixty five yards,
- 14:19Speaker 1: three receptions from forty five, one touchdown, one hundred and
- 14:22Speaker 1: ten total yards. And this guy's not even completely healthy yet.
- 14:25Speaker 1: He's still playing on a sore foot, and Chris Carson
- 14:30Speaker 1: is the catalyst to this team. Yep, we're gonna talk
- 14:32Speaker 1: about Russ, We're gonna talk about DK Locket, Bobby, all
- 14:36Speaker 1: those guys. But if Chris Carson doesn't play well, this
- 14:39Speaker 1: team really doesn't have a chance to make a run.
- 14:42Speaker 1: So it's nice to see him contributing the run game
- 14:44Speaker 1: in the past game, no question about it. It's really
- 14:46Speaker 1: funny how we've gone full circle. Twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen,
- 14:50Speaker 1: those are two playoff teams, but all we heard is
- 14:52Speaker 1: what the heck or the Seahawks doing. They run the
- 14:54Speaker 1: ball too much? Why they want to establish the run?
- 14:56Speaker 1: Blah blah blah blah blah. Now everyone's saying, oh, Chris
- 14:58Speaker 1: Carson's not getting the ball enough, And it's funny to
- 15:01Speaker 1: see how full circle we've gone. But yeah, thirteen carries.
- 15:04Speaker 1: My kind of magic number for Chris Carson is twenty.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I want him to have the rock in his hands
- 15:08Speaker 1: twenty times. Whether that's fifteen carries five receptions. However, the
- 15:11Speaker 1: balance teams to beim he needs to touch the ball
- 15:13Speaker 1: at least twenty times. I think for this football team
- 15:16Speaker 1: to be successful, and play the type of football they
- 15:18Speaker 1: want to play. Jamal Adams was everywhere. Eleven tackles, one sack,
- 15:22Speaker 1: one tackle for loss. He continues to impress me, and
- 15:27Speaker 1: I feel bad for the dude for the postgame, like
- 15:29Speaker 1: people are trying to make every bad thing that happens
- 15:32Speaker 1: on the defense about Jamal Adams. It ain't about Jamal Adams.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Does he make mistakes, yes, everyone on that defense makes mistakes.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Everyone the offense makes mistakes, but he continues to show
- 15:42Speaker 1: up every week and he's getting healthy. I like what
- 15:44Speaker 1: I'm seeing at him. No question about Jamal Adams is
- 15:46Speaker 1: a baller. There's a reason why we gave a two
- 15:48Speaker 1: first round picks for him, and he is delivered. When
- 15:50Speaker 1: he's been healthy, he has delivered. So I don't want
- 15:52Speaker 1: to hear all this stuff. Just because you have a
- 15:53Speaker 1: Pro Football Focus account, just because you can watch NFL
- 15:56Speaker 1: game pass does not mean you know what's going on. Okay,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you're not defensive calls, you're not on defensive team meeting rooms.
- 16:02Speaker 1: So Twitter, calm down. The duke's bawling. He's bawling. Quandre Diggs.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Second week in a row, he has an interception at
- 16:09Speaker 1: a pick three tackles, two passes defended. The pick. I
- 16:13Speaker 1: like it. You got a big us Ryan nil because
- 16:15Speaker 1: he's the one who calls the pick to happen. That
- 16:18Speaker 1: ball security it all, man, you missed it all like
- 16:20Speaker 1: some seven on seven stuff right there. You better tuck
- 16:22Speaker 1: that ball. Quandre well man. Quandre love seeing digs out
- 16:26Speaker 1: there making plays. And the thing I like about him
- 16:28Speaker 1: too is that, like there's certain guys and to get
- 16:30Speaker 1: the ball in their hand. On defense, they kind of
- 16:32Speaker 1: forget that they used to play offense at some point
- 16:34Speaker 1: in their life. Quandre kind of that swag. He was moving,
- 16:37Speaker 1: he didn't fumble the ball. They might talk about the
- 16:39Speaker 1: ball security, but I love to see Quandre balling out.
- 16:41Speaker 1: He had a couple of nice pass defenses as well.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So thirty seven is playing really good football this year.
- 16:45Speaker 1: That was his fourth interception correct all the season. So
- 16:48Speaker 1: he's balling out. So I love to see three seven
- 16:50Speaker 1: doing his thing. I like it all. Right, Let's go
- 16:53Speaker 1: to the receiver round up. Like mentioned, dk meck have
- 16:55Speaker 1: had five catches for eighty yards. Tyler Lockett had six
- 16:58Speaker 1: catches for sixty three was targeted nine times, so we
- 17:01Speaker 1: talked about his targets going down. He had the most
- 17:03Speaker 1: targets this week. Carson had three for forty five and
- 17:05Speaker 1: a touchdown. Uncle Will four for twenty eight, and he
- 17:09Speaker 1: made a guy miss. If Uncle Will breaks your ankles,
- 17:12Speaker 1: something right. I ain't Uncle Will's game, but I'd like
- 17:16Speaker 1: to see it. Jacob Allister at three for twenty DJ
- 17:18Speaker 1: two for eleven, could have scored a touchdown on that
- 17:21Speaker 1: block punt, but maybe got a little excited, got look
- 17:24Speaker 1: cited and got away from him. Carloside had three for ten,
- 17:27Speaker 1: Demo had one for six. Freddie Freddie Swain was targeted once,
- 17:32Speaker 1: didn't come down with the rock. That's the receiver round up.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Let's go to the coach's corner, all right. The first
- 17:36Speaker 1: play in coach's corner one of the few plays that
- 17:39Speaker 1: went really well offensively. Russell Wilson finds dk metcalf for
- 17:42Speaker 1: a twenty yard touchdown from their own twenty eight. Russell
- 17:45Speaker 1: is gonna scramble left side. Now, I was gonna throw
- 17:47Speaker 1: to the intel, reaching up, baking the catch. Chris Carson
- 17:49Speaker 1: doesn't get in. He does touchdown, Sayhawks. Chris Carson releases
- 17:55Speaker 1: down to the the far sidelines. Russ rolls left, throws across
- 17:59Speaker 1: his body of beautiful pass. Carson hangs on, steps over
- 18:03Speaker 1: the pilot and the Seahawks draw two within six points
- 18:08Speaker 1: seventeen eleven. The Hawks looking for the extra point. Here
- 18:15Speaker 1: they're in this empty formation. I mean, there's no running back.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Chris Carson has lined up to the left side of
- 18:20Speaker 1: the field as your number one receiver. He runs what
- 18:23Speaker 1: looks like slugo slatting go face the slap, snaps up,
- 18:27Speaker 1: runs a goal. What Masons work is DK's in the slot,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and we all know the attention that DK is gonna get.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He's in the slot, he drifts towards the middle of
- 18:35Speaker 1: the field. He holds the safeties to make this play possible,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and then all the things that Russ didn't do. This
- 18:42Speaker 1: is one of the best throws I've seen that them
- 18:43Speaker 1: this year. He's rolling to his left, throws it on
- 18:46Speaker 1: the line about thirty five yards down the field. Carson
- 18:50Speaker 1: makes a play, has the awareness to keep his feet in,
- 18:53Speaker 1: reaches the ball over the goal line. There's a positive
- 18:56Speaker 1: right here, nasty, no question about it. This singing. What
- 18:58Speaker 1: I love about this play is the corner just gets
- 19:01Speaker 1: put into a bind right here right so like you know,
- 19:04Speaker 1: Chris Carson runs like a sluggo. But essentially what it
- 19:07Speaker 1: turns into is two verts, right, And when you when
- 19:09Speaker 1: you're as a dB and you're playing a deep half
- 19:11Speaker 1: or a quarter coverage, they tell you the vertical viere
- 19:13Speaker 1: both of them, right, So you want to split the
- 19:15Speaker 1: difference and you're breaking along ourm action. But because of
- 19:18Speaker 1: who's running at you, number fourteen is running down the
- 19:21Speaker 1: numbers like he was, of course you're gonna shade to him.
- 19:23Speaker 1: So it puts the dB in a huge bind and
- 19:25Speaker 1: he opens his hips, commits the DK and then Russell
- 19:28Speaker 1: comes back throws it just enough over the corner underneath
- 19:32Speaker 1: Chris Carson makes a good hands catch and gets in
- 19:33Speaker 1: the end zone. So, like you mentioned, a lot of
- 19:37Speaker 1: things did not go right offensively, but you love to
- 19:39Speaker 1: see Russ getting out of the pocket, making a play,
- 19:42Speaker 1: holding that safety in that corner and finding Chris Carson
- 19:45Speaker 1: for touching him. Nason Joby Victor formation did not appear
- 19:50Speaker 1: this week. Instead, the clock ran out on me taking
- 19:57Speaker 1: them fine, Huney, they're just gonna let the clock wind down,
- 19:59Speaker 1: preaching on we're gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Oh yes, a clock did run out on the Seattle
- 20:06Speaker 1: Seahawks on Sunday against the New York Giants, and honestly,
- 20:11Speaker 1: they just didn't have it. It was just one of
- 20:12Speaker 1: those days, like you always mentioned a MoMA said, they're
- 20:15Speaker 1: gonna be days like this. Sunday is one of those days. Offensively,
- 20:19Speaker 1: it was the worst performance they've had all season, managing
- 20:21Speaker 1: just ten points, and it's just tough. Honestly, it's one
- 20:25Speaker 1: of those days. Hopefully they can watch the film, tell
- 20:27Speaker 1: the truth Monday, get back to what we know they
- 20:29Speaker 1: can be. They're a good football team. They're a great
- 20:31Speaker 1: offense with tons of Pro Bowlers, all Pro caliber guys.
- 20:34Speaker 1: They just didn't have it on Sunday. That's what keeps
- 20:36Speaker 1: me optimistic. You got a Hall of Fame quarterback, you
- 20:38Speaker 1: got Pro Bowl receivers. I'm gonna throw a locking in
- 20:41Speaker 1: there as well. We'll see if he gets the Pro Bowl.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Now we know dk Is, you have a running back
- 20:45Speaker 1: who can get it done. You gotta find some stability
- 20:48Speaker 1: on that offensive line. I don't think it's a lack
- 20:50Speaker 1: of talent on the line. It's just these guys gotta
- 20:52Speaker 1: play together. You can't just throw these guys on the
- 20:54Speaker 1: field and have them trust one another. So I look
- 20:57Speaker 1: at the personnel of this football team offensive and defensively,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and I might look defense is playing better. We feel
- 21:03Speaker 1: like the offense is gonna get right. So I'm gonna
- 21:06Speaker 1: remain optimistic. I think they can still do what they
- 21:08Speaker 1: gotta do. They still win these next fewball games. You
- 21:11Speaker 1: have to beat. You gotta beat the Jets, you gotta
- 21:13Speaker 1: beat the Washington football team, and you have to beat
- 21:16Speaker 1: the Rams after that, take care of the Niners. So
- 21:19Speaker 1: they can still do what they gotta do. They have
- 21:21Speaker 1: to do, but they gotta leak deep inside and say
- 21:25Speaker 1: what can I do? What can I do to make
- 21:27Speaker 1: this football team go? That's what tell the truth. Monday
- 21:30Speaker 1: is all about, no question about it. And like you said,
- 21:32Speaker 1: that's why you have confidence because we know there's good
- 21:34Speaker 1: football players. It's a good football team. They have a
- 21:35Speaker 1: good coaching staff. But with that being said, they need
- 21:39Speaker 1: to win out. They need to win the rest of
- 21:41Speaker 1: their games, and I think they can. I think they
- 21:42Speaker 1: can beat the Jets. I think they can beat the
- 21:44Speaker 1: Washington football team. I think they can beat the Rams
- 21:46Speaker 1: at home in a rematch, and I think they can
- 21:48Speaker 1: beat the forty Diners. So everything they want to do
- 21:50Speaker 1: this season is still ahead of them, just a little
- 21:52Speaker 1: bump in the road. Reminder guys that KY Radio is
- 21:55Speaker 1: your home for the Seattle Seahawks and your source for
- 21:57Speaker 1: all local news. Listen every Listen to every Seahawks game
- 22:01Speaker 1: live on the ninety seven point three FM app, and
- 22:03Speaker 1: catch up on the news weekday every day. Bump Seahawks,
- 22:08Speaker 1: they fell, They're eight and four. Everything they want to
- 22:11Speaker 1: do is still in front of him. What's went out,
- 22:13Speaker 1: went out, went out. It wasn't the result we were
- 22:15Speaker 1: looking for. The Hawks lose to the Giants seventeen to
- 22:19Speaker 1: twelve and offensive performance. I don't think we're ever going
- 22:21Speaker 1: to see again, at least not this year. Now we're
- 22:23Speaker 1: Russell Wilson running the show. You guys, hang in there.
- 22:26Speaker 1: We will do the same nass Hawk Talk. Talk to
- 22:28Speaker 1: you guys soon.
