- 2:40Sunny mornings send you. The City of Boston is
- 2:47moving away from flex posts, transitioning to
- 2:50more durable bike lane barriers this fall. City
- 2:54officials are replacing the flexible bollards
- 2:57with cast -in -place concrete, which sits on
- 3:00top of the road. This change aims to reduce maintenance
- 3:04costs and litter from broken posts, while providing
- 3:07a safer environment for bikers. The chief of
- 3:11streets for Mayor Michelle Wu has stated that
- 3:13the long -term goal is to eliminate flex posts
- 3:16in most cases, starting with new barriers along
- 3:19Arlington Street and Boylston Street. Meanwhile,
- 3:23state health officials are warning people and
- 3:25pets to avoid parts of the Charles River due
- 3:28to a growing algae bloom. Now on to sports. The
- 3:37great Bill Belichick experiment has taken a dramatic
- 3:40turn at the University of North Carolina. His
- 3:44tenure as head coach has devolved into a situation
- 3:47resembling the Carolina Panthers, leaving fans
- 3:50embarrassed. With a record of two wins and three
- 3:54losses, the football team's performance has disappointed
- 3:58many. Fans left Canaan Stadium early during a
- 4:02recent game against Clemson, underscoring their
- 4:05frustration. Balchek's past success in the NFL
- 4:09has not translated to college football leading
- 4:12to widespread criticism. The planned documentary
- 4:15about the team has been scrapped due to the growing
- 4:18dissatisfaction surrounding him. And tonight,
- 4:22on Thursday Night Football, the 4 -1 Eagles are
- 4:26at the 1 -4 Giants. Kickoff is at 8 .15 p .m.
- 4:31on Amazon Prime Video. Philadelphia is favored
- 4:35by 7 .5, and the over -under is 40 .5 in local
- 4:42sports. Last night, the Bruins and Capitals opened
- 4:46their season at Capital One Arena. Bruins forward
- 4:50David Pasternak shined with a goal and two assists
- 4:54in a 3 -1 road victory over Washington. The first
- 4:59period was low -scoring, with both teams combining
- 5:02for only 11 shots. Pasternak broke the tie in
- 5:06the second period with a precise shot, giving
- 5:09Boston a one -to -nothing lead. Despite a late
- 5:13goal from Tom Wilson, the Bruins held on, with
- 5:16Morgan Gicke sealing the win. Boston faces the
- 5:20Chicago Blackhawks tonight at TD Garden. In top

- 5:37are being furloughed, while another 39 ,870 employees
- 5:42will remain on the job. This announcement comes
- 5:46as the federal shutdown enters its eighth day
- 5:48without an agreement between Republicans and
- 5:51Democrats on a funding deal. The IRS stated,

- 6:04shutdown ends. This furlough follows mass layoffs
- 6:08that reduce the IRS workforce by approximately
- 6:1125%. In business news, artificial intelligence
- 6:18is supposed to kill jobs, but instead there is
- 6:21a hiring and office boom. Some artificial intelligence
- 6:25executives have predicted significant job losses
- 6:29due to the technology. However, many artificial
- 6:33intelligence companies are hiring large numbers
- 6:35of human employees. This is driving a surprising
- 6:39resurgence in Silicon Valley's office market.
- 6:44Eric Simons, chief executive officer of artificial
- 6:47intelligence startup StackBlitz, recently announced
- 6:51a new office lease in San Francisco. The buildout
- 6:55is underway and employees are expected to move

- 8:25To combat this, Apple is introducing a new tool
- 8:28in its iOS 26 release to help users manage unknown
- 8:32calls. This feature allows iPhone owners to choose
- 8:36how to handle incoming calls, including letting
- 8:39them ring, sending them to voicemail, or asking
- 8:42the caller for more information. When using the
- 8:45third option, Siri will answer and gather details,
- 8:48displaying a status message on the lock screen.
- 8:52To activate this tool, users need to install
- 8:55iOS 26, open Settings, and select Screen Unknown
- 8:59Callers. And in entertainment news, Wind River,

- 9:56all righty, folks. It's time for the quote of
- 9:59the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 10:03American inventor and visionary Alexander Graham
- 10:06Bell. And he said... When one door closes, another
- 10:11opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully
- 10:15upon the closed door that we do not see the one
- 10:18which has opened for us. And that's a wrap for
