Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 20th.
• 0:11
Faith that works. There is a difference between
• 0:13
talking about change and actually walking in it.
• 0:17
It is easy to say you want to grow, want to trust God, want to
• 0:21
become more disciplined, or want to live differently.
• 0:24
But Proverbs chapter 14 verse 23 says in all toil there is
• 0:28
profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
• 0:31
In other words, words alone do not build a life.
• 0:35
Faith is meant to move. Growth usually comes through
• 0:38
  obedience, persistence, and action.
• 0:42
Psalm 32, verse 5 says I acknowledged my sin to you and I
• 0:46
did not cover my iniquity. That is another kind of action,
• 0:49
honest confession. Real faith does not hide behind
• 0:53
excuses. It comes into the light.
• 0:56
It brings sin to God and receives forgiveness.
• 0:59
Then Romans chapter 4 points us to Abraham, who received the
• 1:02
promise through faith. His faith was not empty belief,
• 1:07
It was trust that shaped the way he lived.
• 1:09
That matters so much because sometimes people think faith
• 1:12
means sitting back passively and hoping things somehow change.
• 1:16
But biblical faith responds, It prays and it obeys.
• 1:21
It trusts and it moves. It believes God's promises
• 1:24
enough to live differently because of them.
• 1:27
Maybe there is an area of your life where you have been stuck
• 1:29
in talk. You say you want peace, but you
• 1:32
keep feeding anxiety. You say you want closeness with
• 1:35
God, but you rarely make space for him.
• 1:38
You say you want to grow, but you avoid the effort growth
• 1:41
requires. This is not about earning God's
• 1:44
love. It is about letting faith become
• 1:47
visible in the choices you make. Small acts of obedience matter.
• 1:51
Opening your Bible when you do not feel like it matters.
• 1:55
Confessing sin instead of covering it matters.
• 1:57
Doing the next faithful thing matters.
• 2:00
God sees every step He works through the ordinary efforts
• 2:03
that are surrendered to Him. Faith that works is not flashy.
• 2:07
It is steady. It is honest, it is willing.
• 2:10
And God delights. To strengthen that kind of
• 2:12
faith, let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:16
calling me to a faith that is real and active.
• 2:19
Help me move beyond empty words into obedience, honesty and
• 2:22
trust. Give me courage to confess my
• 2:25
sin, strength to do the work of growth and confidence that you
• 2:29
are with me in every faithful step.
• 2:32
Let my life reflect a faith that is alive, steady and rooted in
• 2:35
  You. In Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:42
What if you could rise up and declare with full spiritual
• 2:45
authority, I shall not die, but live?

World English Bible In all hard work there is profit, but the
• 3:52
talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
• 3:55
Psalm chapter 32 World English Bible by David a contemplative
• 4:00
Psalm. Blessed is he whose disobedience
• 4:03
is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
• 4:06
Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh doesn't impute iniquity,
• 4:09
in whose spirit there is no deceit.
• 4:11
When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning
• 4:15
all day long for day and night. Your hand was heavy on me.
• 4:19
My strength was sapped in the heat of summer.
• 4:21
Selah. I acknowledged my sin to you.
• 4:24
I didn't hide my iniquity. I said I will confess my
• 4:28
transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my
• 4:31
  sin. Selah.
• 4:33
For this let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when
• 4:36
you may be found. Surely when the great waters
• 4:39
overflow, they shall not reach to Him.
• 4:41
You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from
• 4:44
trouble. You will surround me with songs
• 4:46
  of deliverance. Selah.
• 4:49
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall
• 4:51
go. I will counsel you with my eye
• 4:53
on you. Don't be like the horse or like
• 4:57
the mule, which have no understanding, who are
• 4:59
controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to
• 5:03
you. Many sorrows come to the wicked,
• 5:06
but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in
• 5:08
Yahweh. Be glad in Yahweh, and rejoice
• 5:11
you righteous. Shout for joy all you who are
• 5:13
upright in heart. Romans chapter 4 World English
• 5:18
Bible What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has
• 5:22
found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by
• 5:26
works, he has something to boast about, but not toward God.
• 5:30
For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was
• 5:34
  accounted to him for righteousness.
• 5:37
Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as
• 5:40
something owed. But to him who doesn't work, but
• 5:44
believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is
• 5:47
accounted for righteousness, even as David also pronounces
• 5:52
blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from
• 5:55
  works. Blessed are they whose
• 5:57
iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
• 6:01
Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with
• 6:04
sin. Is this blessing then pronounced
• 6:07
only on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also?
• 6:11
For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for
• 6:14
righteousness. How then was it counted when he
• 6:17
was in circumcision or in uncircumcision?
• 6:20
Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
• 6:23
He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the
• 6:26
righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in
• 6:29
uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who
• 6:33
believe, though they might be an uncircumcision, that
• 6:37
righteousness might also be accounted to them.
• 6:40
He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the
• 6:44
circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of
• 6:47
our father Abraham, which he had an uncircumcision for.
• 6:52
The promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be
• 6:55
heir of the world, wasn't through the law, but through the
• 6:57
righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law
• 7:01
are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no
• 7:04
effect. For the law produces wrath.
• 7:07
For where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.
• 7:11
For this 'cause it is a faith that it may be according to
• 7:14
grace to the end, that the promise may be sure to all the
• 7:17
offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that
• 7:22
also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us
• 7:25
all. As it is written, I have made
• 7:28
you a father of many nations. This is in the presence of him
• 7:31
whom he believed, God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the
• 7:35
things that are not as though they were against Hope.
• 7:39
Abraham and Hope believed to the end that he might become a
• 7:42
father of many nations according to that which had been spoken.
• 7:46
So will your offspring be without being weakened in faith.
• 7:50
He didn't consider his own body already having been worn out, he
• 7:54
being about 100 years old and the deadness of Sarah's womb.
• 7:59
Yet looking to the promise of God, he didn't waver through
• 8:02
unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to
• 8:05
God and being fully assured that what He had promised, he was
• 8:10
also able to perform. Therefore, it also was credited
• 8:14
to him for righteousness. Now, it was not written that it
• 8:17
was accounted to Him for His sake alone, but for our sake
• 8:20
also to whom it will be accounted who believe in Him,
• 8:24
who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up
• 8:28
for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.
