- 0:00And today we're going to go on a visual journey where first hand,
- 0:04we're going to see the silver shortage.
- 0:08Hey, look, I see you right now and it's a big deal, a big
- 0:12privilege that you've joined me here in the basement.
- 0:14I just want to tell you, I appreciate you being here.
- 0:17My fellow basement dwellers, silver lovers, please subscribe
- 0:22to the channel, turn on the notifications, and give this
- 0:25video a thumbs up. As we go on this visual journey
- 0:29into the silver shortage, the unsung hero of the new economy.
- 0:45Let's first take a look at the silver deficit.
- 0:47As you can see my little yellow finger moving around right
- 0:50there. We see that silver demand keeps
- 0:53surging, driven by technologies like solar power and AI.
- 0:56In 2023 alone, the silver market experienced a 15% supply
- 1:04deficit. As you can see in this pie
- 1:06chart. The blue part there is the 15%.
- 1:10That's the silver that's missing.
- 1:13That's the extra silver that the world is demanding above and
- 1:18beyond what the mining and recycling industry can provide.
- 1:23Here's the silver supply and demand gap.
- 1:27As you can see, the darker shaded area is total demand.
- 1:32The lighter shaded area is total supply.
- 1:35If we go down and take a look, from 2021 through 2024, the
- 1:41silver market is expected to reach a cumulative deficit of
- 1:46759,000,000 ounces. Look up here guys.
- 1:50Again, the light shaded area is what the mines in recycling can
- 1:55supply. The dark area represents the
- 1:58excess demand and it's growing quickly. 759 million oz.
- 2:07Silver is second only to oil as one of the most widely used
- 2:11commodities with more than 10,000 applications.
- 2:16Let that sink in. 10,000 applications.
- 2:19Silver is essential in new technologies.
- 2:23In 2025, renewables are expected to generate more electricity
- 2:28than coal, with solar meeting half of the global demand growth
- 2:33over 2024 and 2025. If we look at this solar panel a
- 2:41graph here you can see 2020 two, 118 million oz 2020 three,
- 2:48193,000,000 ounces in 2024. Solar demand in 2024 is expected
- 2:57to account for 23% of total silver supply or 232,000,000
- 3:05ounces. But wait, there's more because
- 3:08we see that silver's also used in many other technologies,
- 3:11including silver nanoparticles that are used in wearable
- 3:16electronics and skin patches, electric vehicles.
- 3:19Silver's also used in semiconductors, control sensors,
- 3:23Lidar technology. Silver's conductivity is crucial
- 3:27for a is high energy demands. And something that's super
- 3:31interesting to us is that the average cell phone contains .34
- 3:37grams of silver. That means that for every 100
- 3:42cell phones that are being produced, being used in the
- 3:45world, the billions of cell phones for each 100 cell phones,
- 3:51that's 30 grams of silver. That's about one ounce of silver
- 3:56per each 100 cell phones that you see in our world right now.
- 4:01Meanwhile, declining ore grades and depleting reserves at
- 4:06existing mines reduce silver output.
- 4:10So as the world is demanding more and more silver, the mining
- 4:14sector is only able to provide less and less.
- 4:19What does that tell us from a basic supply demand perspective?
- 4:24You know what that tells us? That tells us the world is
- 4:27running out of silver. Now, if you want to get your
- 4:30hands on some silver before it potentially becomes much more
- 4:34valuable, do yourself a favor and please check out channel
- 4:38sponsor Pimbex Pi MB EX. These videos are not possible
- 4:43without the support of Pimbex. You'll find great prices, great
- 4:47selection, and a company you can trust.
- 4:50And if you ever decide that you might want to convert part or
- 4:55all of an IRA into precious metals, please do yourself a
- 4:59favor. Take your time, shop around, and
- 5:03include pin backs in the list of companies that you talked to.
- 5:07Compare how many actual ounces of silver and gold you can get
- 5:12for your money from each company.
- 5:15What does it tell us when we hear that 70% of silver is mined
- 5:19as a by product of gold, copper and other metal mining?
- 5:25Yes, only 28.3% of silver comes from primary silver mines.
- 5:33That means that silver is an afterthought to these companies
- 5:37that are mining other things like lead, zinc, gold and
- 5:41copper. So when the silver price does
- 5:43take off, they're going to be much slower to react to the
- 5:47increase in demand. The stark reality is that
- 5:51finding new silver deposits is very difficult.
- 5:55All the easy silver has already been mined.
- 6:00When we look at the top five silver deposits in the world at
- 6:03#1 Poly Metal Resources up in northern China #2 Outcrop Silver
- 6:11and gold that looks to be located in northern South
- 6:14America #3 Dolly Vard and silver, a stock that I happen to
- 6:18own. They've got a big deposit up in
- 6:21British Columbia #4 these let silver, I believe that's in
- 6:26Mexico, and #5 BlackRock Silver, another stock that I own with
- 6:30their Tonopah deposit in Nevada. I'd like to thank Outcrop Silver
- 6:35for providing the visuals used in this video.
- 6:39It really drives home just how critical of a situation the
- 6:43world silver market finds itself in right now.
- 6:47A critical situation which can only be resolved by much higher
- 6:52prices for silver because as we saw right, the demand profile
- 6:57for silver continues to explode while the supply side continues
- 7:02to shrink. It's going to sure be an
- 7:05interesting journey. I'd also like to thank channel
- 7:08sponsor First Mining Gold. They're a Canadian gold
- 7:12developer with two development stage gold projects in Canada.
- 7:17And of course our friends at Fortuna Mining, they're a silver
- 7:21and gold mining company. They mine silver in Mexico and
- 7:25Argentina with their Latin American operations, and they
- 7:29mine gold in West Africa. I'd also like to thank you for
- 7:34joining me here in the basement. This is not possible without the
- 7:38most important person in the basement right now.
- 7:41That's you. So please come back.
- 7:43I'll look forward to seeing you soon.
