- 0:20Speaker 1: Whatever you want to talk about Wednesday on Stegotten Company
- 0:23Speaker 1: Here on Fox Sports Radio eight seven, seven ninety nine
- 0:30Speaker 1: on Fox Mikey, I feel like we have to start
- 0:33Speaker 1: shifting our conversations away from the Yankees, away from the
- 0:36Speaker 1: North Carolina tar Heels, and towards the NFL and football.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Don't tease, Well.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm not teasing. I'm going to get to it because
- 0:49Speaker 1: I think I feel like we need to get our brains.
- 0:52Speaker 1: It's like we're in you know, training camp mode right now.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We need to, you know, kind of work out our brains.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's oh, I'm going to start slow here, okay, try
- 1:00Speaker 1: to get into football shape, all right.
- 1:03Speaker 3: On average, football takes.
- 1:08Speaker 1: On average every year, six teams that made the playoffs
- 1:13Speaker 1: the year before will not make the playoffs the next season.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So that means, in all likelihood, we will have six
- 1:22Speaker 1: teams who made the playoffs a season ago not make
- 1:25Speaker 1: the playoffs this year, which means, on average, there are
- 1:29Speaker 1: roughly six new teams in the playoffs every year, and
- 1:32Speaker 1: you wonder why the NFL is so popular and so great.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Literally every team but the Jets has a chance. And
- 1:40Speaker 1: so I am wondering here, both from the audience and
- 1:43Speaker 1: from you guys. I don't want to do all six teams,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but just some teams who made the playoffs a year
- 1:48Speaker 1: ago who you don't think are going to make the
- 1:50Speaker 1: playoffs this season, and some teams who didn't make the
- 1:53Speaker 1: playoffs a year ago that you think will make the
- 1:56Speaker 1: playoffs this year. And the Kansas City Chiefs is an
- 1:59Speaker 1: obvious one. So I think that's where most people would start.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Right For me, the easiest one, I would go with
- 2:05Speaker 4: a team that made the playoffs last year that won't
- 2:08Speaker 4: make it this year. For me, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 2:11Speaker 4: where you're banking on another year of Aaron Rodgers getting older,
- 2:16Speaker 4: Mike McCarthy new head coach there, and then really it
- 2:19Speaker 4: comes down to the division where you'd expect the Ravens
- 2:22Speaker 4: to be better in Jesse Mentor's first year, and then
- 2:27Speaker 4: the Bengals. It's hard to see the Bengals going six
- 2:30Speaker 4: and eleven again, if Joe Burrow could stay healthy in Cincinnati.
- 2:34Speaker 5: What do you think of Mikey.
- 2:36Speaker 6: I'm gonna go with the Jacksonville Jaguars. I just don't
- 2:39Speaker 6: think that division is.
- 2:43Speaker 7: Good.
- 2:44Speaker 6: I think that they're gonna get one team in, and
- 2:46Speaker 6: my guess is going to be the Houston Texans because
- 2:48Speaker 6: they do have that championship level defense and I think
- 2:51Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence comes back to earth.
- 2:54Speaker 1: This is our training camp. I want to remind you, guys,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you chose too easy ones. Okay, in order for this
- 2:59Speaker 1: to you have to have a hot take. And so
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna say the Seattle Seahawks, the raigning Super Bowl champions.
- 3:06Speaker 7: Why they're in a very tough division.
- 3:08Speaker 1: We took the three and four seeds. I picked the champs.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean, how about that to not make the playoffs
- 3:15Speaker 1: this year? Why is that a bad pick? It's a
- 3:18Speaker 1: hot take. It's a good.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Take because there's almost no scenario where the Seahawks go
- 3:22Speaker 4: from a team that was fourteen and three last year
- 3:25Speaker 4: to a team that falls out of playoff contention, unless
- 3:29Speaker 4: unless you're just banking on an injury to Sam Darnold
- 3:32Speaker 4: at the quarterback position, and they're having to rely on
- 3:35Speaker 4: Jalen Milroe playing quarterback.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm not saying they won't be in playoff contention. I'm
- 3:38Speaker 1: just saying they're in a tough division. If you're gonna
- 3:41Speaker 1: do this, it has to be a hot take.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Of course.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The Steelers, right, I mean, they got in what at
- 3:45Speaker 1: nine to eight last year, and the Ravens are in
- 3:48Speaker 1: that division.
- 3:49Speaker 7: They didn't get in so last year the Steelers they did.
- 3:52Speaker 5: They did get it.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Last year the Steelers were ten and seven. I think
- 3:55Speaker 4: if you're going for the easiest answer for this, for
- 3:58Speaker 4: a team that missed the playoffs, it's gonna make the
- 4:00Speaker 4: playoffs this year, the easiest answer were just to be
- 4:03Speaker 4: go to the NFC North where the Lions finished nine
- 4:05Speaker 4: to eight dead last there and say the Lions are
- 4:08Speaker 4: gonna make it because somebody has to win that division,
- 4:10Speaker 4: and all four teams in that division are pretty strong.
- 4:13Speaker 7: All right, let me give you the NFC team to
- 4:15Speaker 7: the playoffs.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Go ahead, Mikey.
- 4:16Speaker 6: I'm sorry I was gonna say not only that, but
- 4:19Speaker 6: I'm gonna tell you the team they're gonna knock out,
- 4:20Speaker 6: and that's the two seed. Last year in the NFC.
- 4:23Speaker 6: I don't think the Bears make the playoffs. I think
- 4:25Speaker 6: too much broke right for them last year. Now they
- 4:27Speaker 6: won so many games late. I think Caleb Williams is
- 4:32Speaker 6: fools gold, even though Stu Gott stinks he's the best.
- 4:35Speaker 7: And I don't think they make the playoffs.
- 4:37Speaker 5: All right.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Keep in mind, on average, six teams who made the
- 4:39Speaker 1: playoffs last year will not make the playoffs the following season.
- 4:42Speaker 7: So I'll give you the playoff teams from last year.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Let's go through them and tell me if you think
- 4:47Speaker 1: they're gonna make it back to the playoffs this year.
- 4:49Speaker 7: Patriots, no, thank you. That's how you play the game.
- 4:54Speaker 7: Mikey a screaming, I'm so excited. Football's here.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Patriots playoffs all right, Bills playoffs, playoffs all right?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Steelers Taylor said no Ravens could make the playoffs. I say,
- 5:09Speaker 1: the Ravens don't make the playoffs. The Steelers don't make
- 5:11Speaker 1: the playoffs. The Bengals do make the playoffs and win
- 5:13Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. How about that. That's how we play
- 5:16Speaker 1: the game.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's trading camp. That's a trading camp.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Take yeah, Jaguars playoffs, Texans playoffs, yes, Broncos yes, Chargers
- 5:30Speaker 1: my Super Bowl pick.
- 5:31Speaker 7: Yes.
- 5:31Speaker 1: On average, six teams aren't going to make it. Back Eagles.
- 5:36Speaker 1: This is one.
- 5:37Speaker 4: This is one where you could talk me into the
- 5:40Speaker 4: Eagles not making the playoffs because yeah, unfortunately, I'm buying
- 5:45Speaker 4: into the Cowboys hype this year, they get Von Miller.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I like their defense being able to be a lot
- 5:50Speaker 4: better this year, and I think that's kind of been
- 5:52Speaker 4: what's hampering them, their their bad defense. I think Caleb
- 5:55Speaker 4: Downs fixes a lot of issues on their defense.
- 5:59Speaker 6: He's gonna have to that was that was a really
- 6:02Speaker 6: really bad defense last year. Dak Prescott can't stay healthy,
- 6:07Speaker 6: Jerry Jones won't put in uh you know curtains at
- 6:10Speaker 6: at the stadium that even CD Lamb is saying, Please,
- 6:14Speaker 6: I'm not buying into the I'm not buying into the
- 6:16Speaker 6: Cowboys hype.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Nope, I'm not either. The Eagles make the playoffs. I
- 6:20Speaker 1: have Jalen Hurts winning the MVP this year. I mean,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I am really just giving out on takes.
- 6:25Speaker 7: Here over over Caleb who.
- 6:28Speaker 6: You think it's going to be the best quarterback in
- 6:30Speaker 6: the NFL of all time at.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Some point eventually, Yes, but not this season. Okay, not
- 6:35Speaker 1: yet a little too soon. We're a year away from
- 6:38Speaker 1: Caleb Williams being the greatest quarterback that anyone has ever seen. Eagles. Uh,
- 6:43Speaker 1: so let's go to the Bears. Mikey says, no Packers playoffs,
- 6:48Speaker 1: all right, Vikings and Lions in that division. I mean
- 6:52Speaker 1: Lions a team that didn't make the playoffs a year
- 6:53Speaker 1: ago that I could see making the playoffs this year.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I think when you're looking for a regression in the
- 6:58Speaker 4: NFC North, it's coming of the Minnesota Vikings.
- 7:01Speaker 1: All right, Okay, Carolina, I can't believe they made the playoffs.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I mean somebody had to.
- 7:08Speaker 6: So I mean, can't we just say NFC South and
- 7:12Speaker 6: just say one of them makes it?
- 7:14Speaker 3: Like do we have to?
- 7:15Speaker 7: Because there's no difference between any of them.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So that would be the obvious division that in the
- 7:19Speaker 1: AFC Central would be the obvious divisions when you say, hey,
- 7:22Speaker 1: whoever won those divisions a year ago not gonna win
- 7:25Speaker 1: it this year. They're not going to make the playoffs.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And you would find your teams that didn't make the
- 7:28Speaker 1: playoffs who are gonna make the playoffs in those divisions?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Yes, So I get Baker Mayfield's whole thing is about
- 7:34Speaker 4: having a chip on his shoulder and being the guy
- 7:36Speaker 4: that proves everybody wrong. But yesterday he was talking to
- 7:39Speaker 4: the media and he said, everybody's picking against us, probably
- 7:43Speaker 4: to have a losing record, So we'll see when I
- 7:46Speaker 4: prove them wrong. I would just like to inform Baker
- 7:48Speaker 4: Mayfield currently they are the favorites in the NFC South.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Is he crazy?
- 7:53Speaker 4: You're not? You're not the New Orleans Saints right now?
- 7:56Speaker 5: Man?
- 7:56Speaker 7: But who is doubting Baker Mayfield? Is he hearing voices?
- 7:59Speaker 5: Does he just?
- 8:01Speaker 8: No?
- 8:01Speaker 7: One is saying that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Who is hyping up the Buccaneers or who is crushing
- 8:07Speaker 1: the Buccaneers?
- 8:07Speaker 7: Where Baker somehow is going to find the chip? He
- 8:09Speaker 7: makes it up, He puts fake chips on.
- 8:12Speaker 1: His shoulder, put it on the Paul Taylor. Does Baker
- 8:16Speaker 1: Mayfield put fake chips on his shoulder?
- 8:19Speaker 5: Yes, Mikey.
- 8:20Speaker 6: I was just wondering if you knew there was no
- 8:22Speaker 6: such thing as the AFC Central for about twenty five.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Years AFC North.
- 8:28Speaker 1: What a time though, when the AFC Central was a thing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I remember same teams, I think, no.
- 8:37Speaker 7: Similar put it on the pole.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Do you remember the AFC Central? So I have the
- 8:44Speaker 1: Seahawks not making it because it has to be bold.
- 8:46Speaker 5: It, it has to be a hot take.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I think Seattle because I still don't believe in Sam Darnold,
- 8:53Speaker 1: although I shouldn't be doing that.
- 8:55Speaker 5: But they give away.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Walker to the Kansas City Chiefs. I just think of
- 8:59Speaker 1: that division. That is a I know they won the
- 9:02Speaker 1: Super Bowl, guys, I understand that, okay, but it's would
- 9:06Speaker 1: they be the first Super Bowl winning team to not
- 9:08Speaker 1: make the playoffs the next season?
- 9:10Speaker 5: I don't think so. No.
- 9:11Speaker 6: The Patriots. The Patriots missed it, right, They're winning the
- 9:13Speaker 6: Super Bowl. So today after Tom Brady got hurt and
- 9:17Speaker 6: it was a Matt Castle year.
- 9:18Speaker 1: All right, So allow me to be the first in
- 9:21Speaker 1: sports media as everyone is working at the kinks here
- 9:23Speaker 1: and given hot takes for the NFL. Allow me to
- 9:26Speaker 1: be the first. And if anyone else says it, they
- 9:28Speaker 1: stole it from me.
- 9:29Speaker 5: All right.
- 9:30Speaker 1: The Seattle Seahawks, the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will
- 9:34Speaker 1: not make it to the postseason this year. I said it,
- 9:37Speaker 1: and I said it first.
- 9:38Speaker 4: So the last Super Bowl winning team to miss the
- 9:40Speaker 4: playoffs the following season was the twenty twenty two Los
- 9:44Speaker 4: Angeles Rams, where they finished twenty twenty two, five, and twelve.
- 9:50Speaker 7: So it's possible. Yes, but it's possible. That's all I'm saying.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Same Division two.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yes, Ryan Day, the head coach of the Ohio State
- 9:59Speaker 1: Buck Guy's going to join coming up in hour number two.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Mike Norval will be on the show tomorrow. Exciting football
- 10:04Speaker 1: is here. We're talking to coaches.

- 10:34Speaker 4: for our Express Pros Pro the Week. The Pro the
- 10:37Speaker 4: Week goes to Cubs all star Pete crow Armstrong, who
- 10:40Speaker 4: led off last night's game against the White Sox with
- 10:42Speaker 4: a home run. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, crow
- 10:45Speaker 4: Armstrong is the first player in MLB history with two
- 10:48Speaker 4: leadoff home runs and a walk off in a two
- 10:51Speaker 4: game span. Congrats to Pete crow Armstrong for being our
- 10:54Speaker 4: Express pros Pro the Week.
- 10:56Speaker 7: It's exciting here the NL MVP race.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Pete Crow arms wrong, as you just heard Taylor say,
- 11:01Speaker 1: hit a leadoff homer last night, second straight night. He's
- 11:04Speaker 1: done that, three homers the last two nights. He might
- 11:06Speaker 1: be the best center fielder in all of baseball just
- 11:08Speaker 1: in terms of fielding. And Otani went yard last night
- 11:11Speaker 1: as well. You guys are impressed. I watched them baseball Huh.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I mean this, dude, This, this NL MVP race right
- 11:17Speaker 4: now is absolutely fantastic today where it feels like Otani
- 11:21Speaker 4: and Pca are very much aware of what the other
- 11:25Speaker 4: person is doing, and every time they're going out on
- 11:27Speaker 4: the field, it feels like they're trying to up the
- 11:29Speaker 4: other one. Yes, there's only been one instance of a
- 11:32Speaker 4: co MVP award in the regular season in MLB nineteen
- 11:36Speaker 4: seventy nine, Willie Stargel of the Pittsburgh Pirates Nay Keith
- 11:39Speaker 4: Hernandez as the Saint Louis Cardinals.
- 11:41Speaker 7: If you have two MVPs tallor you know what that means, right.
- 11:44Speaker 4: You have none. Yes, we are very much tracking towards
- 11:49Speaker 4: a situation where it feels like this vote is going
- 11:51Speaker 4: to be decided by one or two votes. I would
- 11:54Speaker 4: not be surprised if we get a co MVP favorite,
- 11:56Speaker 4: a co MVP result between Otani and PC, because it's
- 12:00Speaker 4: that close right now on FanDuel, Pca is actually the
- 12:03Speaker 4: current n L favorite minus one sixty five to show
- 12:07Speaker 4: Aotani at plus one forty.
- 12:08Speaker 1: So it's interesting because this is an MVP race that
- 12:11Speaker 1: people actually care about. You ask if the Dodgers are
- 12:14Speaker 1: good for baseball or not. They're great for baseball because
- 12:16Speaker 1: a lot of people just don't want to see show
- 12:18Speaker 1: Hey Otani win the MVP because he wins it all
- 12:21Speaker 1: the time. So they become kind of the team and
- 12:24Speaker 1: he's become the player that people are rooting against when
- 12:28Speaker 1: you base it, if you were to base it on
- 12:30Speaker 1: expectations headed into the season, Otani's on a loaded team.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean, the Cubs were supposed to be good, but
- 12:36Speaker 1: Pete grow Armstrong is the reason they're good. This Dodger
- 12:40Speaker 1: team might win a World Series without Otani.
- 12:42Speaker 7: In fact they have.
- 12:44Speaker 6: I mean, I think Otani is the better player.
- 12:48Speaker 7: I just think that there's.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Some voter fatigue with sho Hey Otani that it's like, yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 6: we've seen this, you do this, we get it, whereas
- 12:55Speaker 6: we're aching for another name to throw in there. So
- 12:58Speaker 6: we're trying to find a Red Sox to the Yankees,
- 13:02Speaker 6: We're trying to find a Michigan to the Ohio state.
- 13:05Speaker 6: We're trying to find a rivalry that we can push
- 13:08Speaker 6: every year. I think if I were to place a
- 13:12Speaker 6: little sprinkle FanDuel, I would probably lead PCA because I
- 13:17Speaker 6: think they're gonna want to vote for him.
- 13:19Speaker 1: The voters are gonna want him to win it. You're
- 13:21Speaker 1: saying enough voters are gonna want him to win it. Yes,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I agree.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Yeah, So you guys hit on the two biggest reasons
- 13:26Speaker 4: why right now. I think it is PCA's award to
- 13:29Speaker 4: award to lose the Otani fatigue. It's no fault to
- 13:33Speaker 4: Otani that he's a four time MVP. And Mikey. The
- 13:37Speaker 4: only point that I disagree with you is trying to
- 13:40Speaker 4: find somebody who's who's worthy of challenging Otani because PCA
- 13:46Speaker 4: is historically having one of the best seasons I've ever
- 13:50Speaker 4: seen from the fielder and he's more than deserving of
- 13:53Speaker 4: being in the conversation. And then Stu, I think the
- 13:56Speaker 4: other point that you made is the right reason where
- 14:00Speaker 4: the Dodgers are bad for baseball narrative. You take Otani
- 14:03Speaker 4: off the Dodgers, they're probably still a really good team.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I'm not sure if they're a World Series team just
- 14:08Speaker 4: because of they're aging very rapidly with players like Freddie
- 14:12Speaker 4: Freeman and Mookie Betts. Yes, but if you take PCA
- 14:15Speaker 4: off the Cubs, you could fairly confidently say this Cubs
- 14:19Speaker 4: team is not even a playoff contender.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You take Otani off the Dodgers, they still make the playoff.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You take PCA off the Cubs, they're not making the playoffs.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry, probably not.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Yeah, but to that end, Taylor, you're forgetting Like last year,
- 14:31Speaker 6: remember when they tried to convince us that cal Raley
- 14:35Speaker 6: versus Aaron Judge it's going to be a thing for
- 14:37Speaker 6: a while. Cal Raley the big dumper, He's the guy
- 14:40Speaker 6: that's gonna challenge Aaron Judges.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Well, where's cal Raley right now? Where is he? He stinks?
- 14:47Speaker 1: He's awful? Well, the big dumper, of course he stinks.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I mean still actually saw this stat This stat.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Was stigning one fifty seven.
- 14:56Speaker 7: Wow, what a drop off.
- 14:58Speaker 4: So that was the big narrative l year cal Ray
- 15:01Speaker 4: versus Aaron Judge. Cal Ray has fifty two hits this season, right,
- 15:05Speaker 4: Aaron Judge has fifty three hits and he hasn't played
- 15:08Speaker 4: since May thirty.
- 15:09Speaker 7: First, they gave it to the right guy last year.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Yeah, a little unfair to cal Rawley because cal Ray
- 15:16Speaker 4: was having a historic season giving it, Yeah, a catcher position.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I know, But I mean Taylor give me the average again,
- 15:24Speaker 1: one fifty seven, right, I mean, Yankee fans would be
- 15:27Speaker 1: screaming right now, how'd you give it to cal Raley?
- 15:30Speaker 5: Right? Yes, he's got.
- 15:31Speaker 3: To go like twenty for twenty to hit the Mendoza lot.
- 15:36Speaker 4: So when it comes to the nl MVP. The only
- 15:39Speaker 4: people who I think are wrong in this situation in
- 15:42Speaker 4: the Otani PCA debate are the ones that are pretending
- 15:45Speaker 4: that there's no debate at all. Either either you go.
- 15:47Speaker 7: In with the there's a debate, yes, if you go
- 15:49Speaker 7: in with.
- 15:50Speaker 4: The perceived notion that it's PCA's award at this point,
- 15:53Speaker 4: or if you go in that it's Otani's award at
- 15:55Speaker 4: this point. I think those are the only people that
- 15:57Speaker 4: are saying like it's it's definitively over because if the
- 16:00Speaker 4: season did end today. It's as subjective a finish as
- 16:03Speaker 4: you could get where hitting they are comparable. PCA is
- 16:07Speaker 4: having statistically one of the best fielding seasons we've ever seen,
- 16:10Speaker 4: and then Otani has pitched eighty five innings this year
- 16:14Speaker 4: to a sub two era.
- 16:16Speaker 7: Pete Crow Armstrong is the best name in sports, is
- 16:18Speaker 7: it not? I mean, it's so I love it. It's
- 16:21Speaker 7: so good PCA.
- 16:22Speaker 6: You don't like it, Mikey, No, I'm just trying to
- 16:25Speaker 6: think if it's the best name.
- 16:26Speaker 3: I mean, PCA is it. It's good, But I mean
- 16:29Speaker 3: cal Rawley is good.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Is even better?
- 16:32Speaker 1: You're right, Yeah, you seem to be upset that he's
- 16:37Speaker 1: merely bad in one forty two. I understand that you
- 16:40Speaker 1: like the guy. Yes, good name, good nickname or whatever
- 16:43Speaker 1: it is. I don't care. He's not an MVP, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: great name and a great nickname. PCA is a great nickname.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Pete Crow Armstrong, He's a great name for a baseball player.
- 16:51Speaker 4: And MVP yes or MVPCA.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Otani has four MVPs. Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 4: My favorite narrative of the PCA part of this whole
- 17:05Speaker 4: thing where he has a great first half of the
- 17:08Speaker 4: season last season and then he kind of falls off
- 17:10Speaker 4: a cliff the second half of the year, and this
- 17:12Speaker 4: year kind of starts slow this year and then has
- 17:15Speaker 4: had an MVP obviously season this rest of the time,
- 17:19Speaker 4: the Mets angle of this where the Mets are catching
- 17:22Speaker 4: strays because the Mets are the ones that traded him
- 17:26Speaker 4: to the Cubs and it was for a half season
- 17:30Speaker 4: rental of Hobby Bayas where the Mets still missed the postseason.
- 17:34Speaker 4: It's like, man, the Mets. There are certain organizations where
- 17:39Speaker 4: it feels like they can't get out of.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Their own way. The Mets are one of them, and they're.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Always going to find themselves on the opposite ends of
- 17:45Speaker 4: these strays. The Mets. The Mets are the gold standard
- 17:48Speaker 4: when it comes to that.
- 17:49Speaker 1: If I'm being honest here for a minute, when that
- 17:51Speaker 1: trade went down, I didn't know who Pete Crow Armstrong was,
- 17:55Speaker 1: and I knew Hobby Guy is his name, right, And
- 17:57Speaker 1: I remember saying calling my brother and saying, great trade
- 18:00Speaker 1: for the Mets.
- 18:01Speaker 4: We won that trade.
- 18:03Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, I mean how many prospects have been traded
- 18:07Speaker 6: that you go, I don't know who that is and
- 18:08Speaker 6: then you never find out who they are because they
- 18:10Speaker 6: never become anything.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yes, And how happened to trade away an MVP candidate.
- 18:15Speaker 7: Right, but for a guy who could be a missing piece.
- 18:17Speaker 1: That's why I thought of the time, it was a
- 18:19Speaker 1: good trade for the Mets missing pets.
- 18:25Speaker 6: If the Mets want to give you somebody, is it
- 18:27Speaker 6: the same as if the GM of the Eagles wants
- 18:29Speaker 6: to sign you, is it like you just like that's
- 18:32Speaker 6: the guy.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Well, if Howie Roseman calls, you don't pick up the phone.
- 18:35Speaker 1: If the Mets call, you pick it up. Every single time,
- 18:37Speaker 1: you drop everything you're doing and you pick up the phone.
- 18:40Speaker 7: Yes, yes, whatever you want to give me, Yes, you
- 18:42Speaker 7: can have it.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yes, you take the flyer and you're like, we could
- 18:45Speaker 4: fix whatever the Mets are trading us to the Mets
- 18:49Speaker 4: credit though, I don't know if anybody could have saw
- 18:52Speaker 4: like that p Crow Armstrong would have turned into this.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Like you go back to all the profiles of PA.
- 18:58Speaker 4: It sounded like somebody who was gonna be this utility
- 19:01Speaker 4: Ford type outfielder, be a great, be a great base runner,
- 19:05Speaker 4: hit for contact, he's a thirty for thirty guy. I
- 19:08Speaker 4: don't think anybody could have projected that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Here's the problem, though, it's their job to predict that
- 19:12Speaker 1: it's their job to know that. It's their job. It's
- 19:15Speaker 1: not ours. It's the scouts of the New York Mets.
- 19:18Speaker 1: It is their job to tell the general manager, this
- 19:22Speaker 1: guy's really good.
- 19:23Speaker 7: Do not trade them.
- 19:24Speaker 6: I just picture that scene in Moneyball where all the
- 19:27Speaker 6: old scouts are sitting around and Brad Pitt's like, no,
- 19:30Speaker 6: we're gonna do things different, And I'm going he's.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Got three names. He's not gonna be any good. Trade him.
- 19:34Speaker 3: We can get Hobby Bias so that names.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yes, player, Yes, that's interesting because Pete Crow Armstrong when
- 19:40Speaker 1: he's in the minors not a great name.
- 19:42Speaker 7: But as he ascends it he becomes an MVP.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Candidate and a thirty thirty guy, that bad name turns
- 19:47Speaker 1: into a great name.
- 19:48Speaker 5: It does. Yes, if he got three names, you don't
- 19:51Speaker 5: have one.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Ryan Dagan to join us in an hour number two
- 19:53Speaker 1: heads to head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes eight
- 19:56Speaker 1: seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight seven
- 19:58Speaker 1: seven nine on Fox. We will get to Ike in
- 20:01Speaker 1: a sports update in just a minute. Fernando Mendoza took
- 20:06Speaker 1: first team snaps yesterday in practice for the Raiders. Mikey
- 20:10Speaker 1: is smiling already because we love Fernando Mendoza.
- 20:12Speaker 7: How can you not?
- 20:14Speaker 6: I'm just wondering if anybody on the Raiders noticed, Like,
- 20:19Speaker 6: do you think any other player noticed on the Raiders
- 20:22Speaker 6: that it was Mendoza not Cousins.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's a very good question, and I don't have the
- 20:27Speaker 1: answer for you, but it is a good question.
- 20:30Speaker 7: It is a good question. Cousin's probably noticed.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, but I want to play this
- 20:37Speaker 1: sound from you because I think that Fernando Mendoza is
- 20:40Speaker 1: becoming my new favorite quarterback.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Just because he's so nice. What a kid.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I mean, listen, your parents, and you have a child,
- 20:47Speaker 1: you want your son to grow up exactly like Fernando Mendoza.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Listen to this sound from Mendoza after we get some
- 20:53Speaker 1: first team reps in practice for the Raiders. Guys, let's
- 20:56Speaker 1: not listen to the sound of Fernando Mendoza before get
- 21:00Speaker 1: heads some first after he gets first team reps for
- 21:05Speaker 1: the Raiders in practice. You guys, just let me know
- 21:08Speaker 1: when you have this out. I feel like Sherman Oaks
- 21:10Speaker 1: is doing a different show than we are. I mean, oh,
- 21:13Speaker 1: it's ready now, okay, So here is Fernando Mendoza pretend
- 21:16Speaker 1: the last minute or so just never happened.
- 21:19Speaker 3: All right, racer, I'm playing iosam.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I mean, it's gonna stick with me for a couple
- 21:23Speaker 1: of weeks, but listen in your cars out there, just
- 21:26Speaker 1: pretend it never happened, all right. This is Fernando Mendoza
- 21:30Speaker 1: after getting some first team reps and the media sitting
- 21:34Speaker 1: down and talking to him.
- 21:36Speaker 7: Right after that, Bractice be able.
- 21:37Speaker 9: To go against the Texans defense, which is also a
- 21:39Speaker 9: top defense in the league, go against them people to
- 21:42Speaker 9: get some reps with the ones and against the superstars
- 21:44Speaker 9: on their defense, and then obviously the twos.
- 21:47Speaker 7: Are fantastic as well.
- 21:48Speaker 8: We got so much work, whether it was new to
- 21:51Speaker 8: the ball, first down, third down, red.
- 21:54Speaker 9: Zone, two minute, There's so many situations, and I believe
- 21:57Speaker 9: overall is a positive day.
- 21:59Speaker 3: There were plays that I loved and.
- 22:00Speaker 9: Plays that I wish I had back, but in reality
- 22:03Speaker 9: that's a lie. I wish I didn't have him back
- 22:04Speaker 9: because a growing experience and it's practice.
- 22:08Speaker 7: It's practice, and this is what I love.
- 22:10Speaker 3: And it's a beautiful day to play football here and
- 22:11Speaker 3: I'm so happy.
- 22:12Speaker 7: If so many things were learned from from today.
- 22:16Speaker 4: There isn't a bigger juxtaposition in sports between a player
- 22:19Speaker 4: in this city he plays in than Fernando Mendoza's too.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Nice to live there, right, Yeah, No, as polite as
- 22:27Speaker 1: he is anywhere in the entire city.
- 22:29Speaker 7: You're right, So I was.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Actually I saw this article from Mike Silver of The Athletic.
- 22:33Speaker 4: He was he was interviewing Fernando Mendoza about his rookie
- 22:36Speaker 4: year coming up and expectations, and Mike Silver asked him
- 22:40Speaker 4: about the strip on Las Vegas, and Fernando's knows' response was,
- 22:44Speaker 4: I've been there once or twice, but I haven't really
- 22:47Speaker 4: experienced the strip a lot. It's like a boogeyman. A
- 22:50Speaker 4: lot of people talk about the strip, like you don't
- 22:52Speaker 4: want to go there. It's like when you're a kid,
- 22:54Speaker 4: you're trick or treating and there's the haunted house. You're
- 22:57Speaker 4: not trying to go over there.
- 22:59Speaker 7: And I believe them. Most players say I try to
- 23:03Speaker 7: avoid the strip.
- 23:04Speaker 1: And I'm like, get out of here. That guy's lying.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He doesn't want to acknowledge what he's doing in Vegas.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Not Mendoza. I believe him when he says he wants
- 23:12Speaker 1: nothing to do with that strip. He's terrified of it.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Go ahead, Mike, what he gets there?
- 23:16Speaker 3: Does he just go wow? Look at the lights? Look
- 23:19Speaker 3: at all these lights.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Guys.
- 23:21Speaker 4: You have him being like Buddy the elf in Elfie
- 23:25Speaker 4: when he goes to New York City for the first time.
- 23:26Speaker 7: I think there's a bid here.
- 23:27Speaker 1: The most interesting man in the world, remember those do
- 23:29Speaker 1: Seki's commercials. The nicest quarterback in the world, something like that.
- 23:34Speaker 1: There has to be. Let's play this out one more
- 23:36Speaker 1: time here. Listen just how nice Fernando Mendoza is to be.
- 23:40Speaker 9: Able to go against the Texans defense, which is also
- 23:42Speaker 9: a top defense in the league, go against them. He
- 23:45Speaker 9: would get some reps with the ones against the Superstars
- 23:48Speaker 9: on their defense, and then obviously their.
- 23:50Speaker 7: Twos are fantastic as well.
- 23:51Speaker 8: We got so much work, whether it's new to the ball,
- 23:55Speaker 8: first down, third down, red.
- 23:57Speaker 9: Zone, two minutes, There's so many situations, and I believe
- 24:00Speaker 9: overall is a positive day. There were plays that I
- 24:03Speaker 9: loved and plays that I wish I had back, but
- 24:06Speaker 9: in reality that's a lie.
- 24:06Speaker 7: I wish I didn't have him back.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Becau it's a growing experience and it's practice.
- 24:11Speaker 4: It's practice, and this.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Is what I love, and it's a beautiful day to
- 24:14Speaker 8: play football here, and I'm so happy.
- 24:15Speaker 7: If so many things were learned from from today, that's
- 24:18Speaker 7: so good.
- 24:19Speaker 4: So there's a certain level of charm. Every time Fernando
- 24:23Speaker 4: Mendoza speaks. It's like you're hanging on every word just
- 24:27Speaker 4: to say, like, oh, like he's so cute. Yes, but
- 24:30Speaker 4: part of that is like he's coming off a season
- 24:33Speaker 4: where where he won the National Championship, right, yes, Like
- 24:36Speaker 4: if he was on a seven and six team and
- 24:39Speaker 4: you heard him talk like this, people would be questioning,
- 24:42Speaker 4: does Fernando Mendoza have the right mentality to be an
- 24:44Speaker 4: NFL quarterback?
- 24:45Speaker 5: He'd be kicked out of football.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I mean serious, absolutely, he'd beat Tim Tebow. There's no
- 24:50Speaker 1: way he gets drafted number one overall. If his team
- 24:53Speaker 1: went seven and six a year ago and he's that nice,
- 24:56Speaker 1: it only works because, yes, his team was that dominant
- 24:59Speaker 1: last year football and he was that dominant.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Do you think any of his coaches can chew him out?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Do you think like any of them could get in
- 25:07Speaker 3: his face and yell at him or is he just.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Like no, you're right, absolutely, yeah, I'm sorry, sir, Yeah, yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 1: But they're definitely trying hard enough on me. No, they're
- 25:15Speaker 1: definitely trying to break them. Like, don't give up on me, coach,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna work hard.
- 25:21Speaker 4: This is a situation like if John Gruden was still
- 25:24Speaker 4: the coach of the Raiders, John Gruden would be licking
- 25:27Speaker 4: his chops every morning on the way to to the facility,
- 25:29Speaker 4: being like, yes, I'm gonna be the one that breaks
- 25:32Speaker 4: Mendoza today.
- 25:33Speaker 1: But there's nothing more annoying than you yelling at a
- 25:36Speaker 1: person and that person just staring back at you, a
- 25:38Speaker 1: agreeing with you, right, and me just with a smile.
- 25:42Speaker 7: He's smiling while you're yelling at him.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Yep. I need to do better.
- 25:47Speaker 6: The next time we have Chris Simson, I want to
- 25:49Speaker 6: ask him if John Gruden could make Fernando Mendoza cry.
- 25:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 25:54Speaker 6: I want to know if John Gruden is I don't
- 25:55Speaker 6: think that good, right. I don't think he could either.
- 25:58Speaker 7: I think he only cries happy tears. I do.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I also saw this quote from Fernando Mendoza when he
- 26:04Speaker 4: was talking about after playing his first preseason game. He
- 26:08Speaker 4: said he was surprised by two things after his first
- 26:11Speaker 4: preseason action. Yeah, defenders being much faster compared to college
- 26:16Speaker 4: and having to drive to the game.
- 26:20Speaker 7: He doesn't have to drive to the game.
- 26:21Speaker 4: He knows that, right, what's the other option, have a driver? Yes, well,
- 26:25Speaker 4: I think he's just used to the team buses leaving.
- 26:29Speaker 4: The team bus is leaving at twelve o'clock. Right, we're
- 26:33Speaker 4: going to go to the game instead of Oh, now,
- 26:35Speaker 4: the entire responsibility is now on me getting there.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It's adorable, it is, but seven and six he's kicked
- 26:41Speaker 1: out of the league.
- 26:43Speaker 6: Bernando Mendoza only cries happy tears for every interception he
- 26:46Speaker 6: throws because he gets to learn from it.
- 26:47Speaker 7: I'm telling you so excited.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'll tell you he cries. He cries more when he's
- 26:52Speaker 1: happy than what he's said when he's upset. He's never upset.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Every day is a great day. Every day is a
- 26:57Speaker 1: learning moment. Every day he's trying to get better, and
- 26:59Speaker 1: he only cries when he actually gets better and he
- 27:02Speaker 1: sees the fruits of his labor.
- 27:03Speaker 6: You know, Fernando, you just threw a pick six to
- 27:06Speaker 6: cost your team the Super Bowl? How do you feel, man?
- 27:09Speaker 6: I just couldn't be happier. I am going to learn
- 27:10Speaker 6: so much from this experience.
- 27:12Speaker 7: Next year I want to do that.
- 27:13Speaker 4: So there's two quarterbacks that I think are in this
- 27:17Speaker 4: category of every time they talk right now, I want
- 27:21Speaker 4: to hear what they have to say. Really, it's Fernando Mendoza,
- 27:24Speaker 4: because Fernando Mendoza is gonna spin everything into a sunshine
- 27:28Speaker 4: and positive and you kind of hear the newness of
- 27:33Speaker 4: when he's talking about the NFL experience, which I think
- 27:35Speaker 4: is pretty interesting. The other quarterback that I hang on
- 27:38Speaker 4: to every word he says, Jameis Winston.
- 27:40Speaker 6: It's Jamis say I was going to argue that if
- 27:44Speaker 6: it wasn't Jameis Winston.
- 27:45Speaker 7: Jameis Winston is the other guy I want to hear
- 27:47Speaker 7: every time.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yes, I've never cared about what a backup has to say,
- 27:50Speaker 1: more so than when Jameis Winston speaks. I am totally
- 27:54Speaker 1: with Taylor on this, not Baker Mayfield. Though you don't
- 27:57Speaker 1: hang on his words, No, you're tired of his words.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I couldn't really care. I could care less about what
- 28:01Speaker 4: Baker has said.
- 28:02Speaker 7: Well, it's the same words every single time.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Ever, ever since, ever since we went to Tahoe and
- 28:07Speaker 4: I went up to Baker Mayfield and I try to
- 28:09Speaker 4: book him on the show, and he said no, thanks,
- 28:10Speaker 4: I'm good. I've kind of been out on Baker Mayfield.
- 28:12Speaker 7: Ye, but he gave you a real no. It wasn't
- 28:14Speaker 7: a colin. I do respect that. Rather than i'd rather
- 28:17Speaker 7: than than the jokes. Yeah, Mike, Mikey.
- 28:21Speaker 4: It was such a harsh no that, like all week,
- 28:24Speaker 4: I was just building up the confidence to start asking people,
- 28:27Speaker 4: and then the second I got some confidence rushed him.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield just stabbed me through the heart.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Imagine Mendoza and Tahoe. I mean, he'd be on every show.
- 28:35Speaker 4: He can't say no, he would never be able to
- 28:37Speaker 4: get to the driving face he would be on with
- 28:39Speaker 4: with the local show from Kansas City.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Yes and no.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Part of Fernando Mendoza was like, why am I doing
- 28:44Speaker 4: a radio show in Kansas.
- 28:46Speaker 5: City right now? I was happy to do it.
- 28:47Speaker 4: One of my biggest problems with the with football, Like
- 28:50Speaker 4: I'm I'm just as excited as everybody else so that
- 28:53Speaker 4: the NFL is about to start. No, it's not debatable.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Actually, okay, well it is.
- 28:57Speaker 7: I mean everything is second technically everything, Yes, steven A,
- 29:03Speaker 7: it's not debatable.
- 29:04Speaker 4: My least favorite part about football this time of year
- 29:08Speaker 4: is it feels like as we're going through training camp
- 29:10Speaker 4: and we're going through preseason. It's just what teams can
- 29:14Speaker 4: survive until Week one where you're hearing Ike's update. Jayden
- 29:18Speaker 4: Higgins from the Texans goes down with a tornt acl
- 29:21Speaker 4: Tyler biadish Front from the Chargers. They're starting center that
- 29:24Speaker 4: they got this free agency who was supposed to be
- 29:28Speaker 4: a big part of solidifying their offensive line. I don't
- 29:31Speaker 4: really love that part of football where you're it just
- 29:34Speaker 4: feels like teams are holding on and just hoping to
- 29:37Speaker 4: get to Week one healthy.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Justin Herbert now has a built in excuse. I mean,
- 29:40Speaker 1: this entire offensive line is Hurts always does.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Where there's a will, there's an excuse for Justin Herbert.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Who do you have winning the Super Bowl?
- 29:50Speaker 5: Tale?
- 29:50Speaker 4: I had the Chargers, now this is this is reshifting
- 29:53Speaker 4: my prediction to the Bengals. I mean no, no, no, no, no,
- 29:57Speaker 4: probably Cowboys.
- 29:59Speaker 7: Really yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Von Miller. Von Miller believes that this could be the
- 30:02Speaker 4: Cowboys year well because he went there. Yeah well, and
- 30:06Speaker 4: he was also saying like it would be winning a
- 30:08Speaker 4: Super Bowl in Dallas would be different than winning a
- 30:11Speaker 4: Super Bowl in La or winning a Super Bowl in Denver.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Like he mentioned that in Denver, there was a pretty
- 30:16Speaker 4: good turnout for when they won the Super Bowl, and
- 30:19Speaker 4: then LA it was few and far between the Rams
- 30:23Speaker 4: fans that were at their championship celebration. Sure, if the
- 30:27Speaker 4: Cowboys do win a Super Bowl, it's special. It feels
- 30:30Speaker 4: like it would be New York Knicks level of pandemonium
- 30:33Speaker 4: sweeping the streets.
- 30:34Speaker 7: I think that's a fair comparison.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I think the Knicks winning the NBA title, while it
- 30:38Speaker 1: annoyed many people, it was still special and it got
- 30:41Speaker 1: a lot of people excited. I do think winning a
- 30:43Speaker 1: Super Bowl for the Dallas Cowboys means a little something different,
- 30:47Speaker 1: maybe a little more than winning a Super Bowl in
- 30:50Speaker 1: let's say Seattle.
- 30:51Speaker 7: Is that fair for sure?
- 30:53Speaker 4: Once, if you have the nickname America's team, everything that
- 30:57Speaker 4: you do is amplified. Like Steve Smith cannot wait on
- 31:02Speaker 4: Monday mornings to talk about the Dallas Cowboys if they lose.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Nobody is racing to a microphone to talk about the
- 31:08Speaker 4: Seattle Seahawks if they lose.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Right, I would say winning a Super Bowl for Pittsburgh
- 31:13Speaker 1: and Green Bay probably means means more.
- 31:16Speaker 7: No, I mean it does the most other teams.
- 31:20Speaker 4: I think the Cowboys are.
- 31:21Speaker 7: Well, you have to factor in the last time these
- 31:23Speaker 7: teams won a Super Bowl. It's been a minute.
- 31:25Speaker 1: For the Dallas Cowboys, it's been a while, I think
- 31:28Speaker 1: for the Steelers, I mean the Packers, it's been a while.
- 31:31Speaker 7: And those are three, you know, storied franchises in NFL.
- 31:34Speaker 7: His three, I mean they are.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I agree that those three probably are more.
- 31:39Speaker 6: I think the Cowboys might be a little more than
- 31:41Speaker 6: even Green Bay or Pittsburgh.
- 31:43Speaker 3: But yeah, I think those are three where you go, yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 3: it probably means a little bit more there.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Yes, on the opposite end of that spectrum, what team
- 31:50Speaker 4: winning the Super Bowl would move the needle the least?
- 31:52Speaker 4: Because I think the clear answer is the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 31:56Speaker 7: The Jacksonville Jaguars. Is it really why big ratings in London?
- 31:59Speaker 4: I mean, in their London's team?
- 32:02Speaker 6: They should do they should do the parade in London.
- 32:05Speaker 6: How about Arizona?
- 32:06Speaker 5: No one cares.
- 32:07Speaker 1: No one wants to see them in a Super Bowl.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Even when they were in the Super Bowl, I wish
- 32:11Speaker 1: I was wishing they weren't there.
- 32:13Speaker 7: I mean, how about the Colts.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I would say the Colts are the most benign team
- 32:18Speaker 1: in the NFL, and sports.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Perhaps no one cares?
- 32:20Speaker 7: Really, yes, why would anyone care?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Pat McAfee, he's the only one fine, and he's racing
- 32:27Speaker 1: to a microphone and he has so many to choose from.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I stand corrected, Peyton Manning, Jeff Saturday, those guys care.
- 32:36Speaker 1: But other than that, I'm not certain anyone really. No
- 32:38Speaker 1: one wants to see the Colts in a Super Bowl nobody.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Did you see the news that Pat McAfee is now
- 32:42Speaker 4: going to be on Monday night football coverage?
- 32:45Speaker 5: Why not?
- 32:47Speaker 4: And ESPN it used to stand for Entertainment and Sports
- 32:51Speaker 4: Programming Network, Now it stands for every shows Pat's.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Now there's like four hosts remaining. They host everything Rehys Davis, Greedy, McAfee,
- 33:06Speaker 1: and who's the fourth? I can uh Schrager, Well, Schreger,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I mean.
- 33:11Speaker 5: That guy's He's all over my.
- 33:12Speaker 7: Television, Josh, Pat's coming for everybody's stuff? Is it what
- 33:14Speaker 7: the college football guy?
- 33:15Speaker 5: Yep?
- 33:16Speaker 7: Really yeah, no, but it's Reyes Greedy.
- 33:19Speaker 1: There's someone I'm leaving out here, No, Scott fan Pelt
- 33:22Speaker 1: Stephen Ah.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's not hosting. He's at every event.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, they have like four guys who're
- 33:28Speaker 1: their main hosts who now host every single event.
- 33:30Speaker 7: McAfee's one of them.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Would you be surprised if tomorrow we got a press
- 33:34Speaker 4: release from ESPN that said Pat McAfee's hosting a new
- 33:37Speaker 4: show with Joe Buck and it's called Pat McFee keeps
- 33:40Speaker 4: it a buck?
- 33:44Speaker 5: Do you want us to answer?
- 33:45Speaker 3: Terrible name?
- 33:46Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd be surprised that they would name it that.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Ask the question again, what port are we supposed to
- 33:52Speaker 1: be surprised about that he got a show with Joe Buck?
- 33:55Speaker 7: That would not surprise me? Yes, that was the question.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Would you be surprised if Pat McAfee came out tomorrow
- 34:01Speaker 4: and he has a new show with Joe Buck and
- 34:03Speaker 4: it called it's called Pat McAfee, keeps it a buck.
- 34:06Speaker 5: It's a terrible name, Thank you, thank you.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and no, I would not be surprised if Pat
- 34:13Speaker 1: McAfee teamed up with anyone at ESPN at this point.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I would be surprised if they did a show and
- 34:19Speaker 1: they named.
- 34:19Speaker 7: It that buck.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Yeah, with Pat McAfee.
- 34:23Speaker 7: There you go.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I like that one, bucking the trend with Pat McAfee.
- 34:35Speaker 7: Buck, you.
- 34:36Speaker 5: With Pat McAfee, let me hear it? What buck? Yeah?
- 34:49Speaker 7: Weird. Thank you. Fuck yeah, I said, buck h Taylor.
- 34:59Speaker 1: You wanted to talk about it, and I'm proud of
- 35:00Speaker 1: you because you're getting into the NFL shape here.
- 35:02Speaker 7: Okay, we're working out our brains here.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You wanted to talk about players with the most pressure
- 35:06Speaker 1: headed into the NFL season.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yep, that was my question that I had for everybody today.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Who has the most to prove in football this season?
- 35:15Speaker 5: Right?
- 35:15Speaker 1: Give me football music back in Sherburn Oaks if you can.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Anytime we talk football, I would like to hear the
- 35:19Speaker 1: Fox football music, IF's.
- 35:20Speaker 5: If that's at all possible, Thank you.
- 35:24Speaker 7: I would say Mikey.
- 35:25Speaker 1: An easy answer for me in terms of the player
- 35:27Speaker 1: that has the most pressure on him, Well, it's not
- 35:31Speaker 1: an easy answer, but it's my answer. I'm gonna say CJ.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Stroud because that defense is a championship defense. It has
- 35:39Speaker 1: been for over a year now. Simms told us this
- 35:42Speaker 1: last year that team, their defense is good enough to.
- 35:44Speaker 7: Win a Super Bowl. CJ.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Stroud got off to such a great start as a rookie.
- 35:50Speaker 1: It's kind of been downhill since. But they are literally
- 35:53Speaker 1: a quarterback away. That team is super Bowl ready and
- 35:56Speaker 1: it appears that they are a quarterback away from make
- 36:00Speaker 1: a serious run.
- 36:00Speaker 7: And C. J.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Stroud is that quarterback he was so bad in the
- 36:03Speaker 1: postseason last year.
- 36:06Speaker 6: That's a good answer. It was gonna be mine. But
- 36:08Speaker 6: I'll go with the same position, same conference. I'm gonna
- 36:10Speaker 6: go with Lamar Jackson. You got rid of the coach,
- 36:14Speaker 6: you wanted him gone, It's now your team. There's no
- 36:17Speaker 6: question it's time for you to actually get that Super Bowl.
- 36:20Speaker 4: So for me, it was a coin flip between Lamar
- 36:23Speaker 4: Jackson and where did the coin land? Josh Allen? Wow,
- 36:26Speaker 4: Josh Allen, same situation where your coach got replaced, everybody's
- 36:30Speaker 4: looking at you with how much talent you have and saying,
- 36:32Speaker 4: Josh Allen, it's time to win. And now that he
- 36:35Speaker 4: doesn't really have that built an excuse of the Chiefs
- 36:37Speaker 4: being down, this feels like a year that Josh Allen
- 36:40Speaker 4: has to win a Super Bowl.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Who's the coach who has the most pressure on him.
- 36:45Speaker 7: Rabel's right up there for me.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Rabel really yeah, yeah, yeah, his off season, what happened?
- 36:56Speaker 5: They had a good offseason. I mean, man, they got
- 36:59Speaker 5: a J.
- 37:00Speaker 7: Brown.
- 37:01Speaker 4: I feel like you could go the AJ Brown route.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Nick Sirianni in Philadelphia.
- 37:06Speaker 7: Oh wow, No, he's five walls.
- 37:08Speaker 1: He should have job security and somehow the guy who's
- 37:11Speaker 1: been to two Super Bowls does it.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

- 37:27Speaker 1: It is time for our favorite game of the week.
- 37:29Speaker 1: We don't play it every week, we don't play it
- 37:31Speaker 1: on the same day or the same time every week,
- 37:33Speaker 1: but I miss it.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Is it just me? Or give me the music? Great execution,
- 37:41Speaker 7: so good.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Mikey.
- 37:46Speaker 7: When you hear this music, what do you think of?
- 37:47Speaker 5: Like?
- 37:48Speaker 4: What?
- 37:50Speaker 7: Oh? I think? Is it just me? Or is this
- 37:52Speaker 7: the best music all there? He is dancing again? You're
- 37:59Speaker 7: an underrated answered? You really are? Yes?
- 38:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, he's acknowledging it.
- 38:05Speaker 7: I'll tell her you are good dancer.
- 38:07Speaker 4: No, no, no, two left feet, two left feet.
- 38:10Speaker 7: Yep.
- 38:10Speaker 5: Really you can't.
- 38:11Speaker 6: You can't do the Shirley temple stare where you just
- 38:14Speaker 6: hold the Shirley temple you stir it around with the cherry.
- 38:16Speaker 6: Not only just kind of bob and weave with the
- 38:18Speaker 6: music a little bit.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Not only can I do it? I don't want to
- 38:22Speaker 4: do it right.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Well, you would if you stop drinking Shirley Temples and
- 38:25Speaker 1: start ordering tequila.
- 38:27Speaker 5: I mean dancing away.
- 38:32Speaker 3: It helps stude you cut a rug or what.
- 38:35Speaker 7: No, I'm terrible too left feet, but I want to.
- 38:39Speaker 7: I try.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm not afraid of it. I don't care I'll embarrass myself.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I do it all the time. I mean I danced
- 38:45Speaker 1: at my kids bought Mitzvah, and I was terrible. I
- 38:48Speaker 1: was hammered, but I was terrible. My kids were embarrassed
- 38:52Speaker 1: and they're like, dad stopped dancing. And I said, why
- 38:53Speaker 1: you embarrassed and they said yes, And I said, that's
- 38:56Speaker 1: the reason I keep doing it.
- 38:57Speaker 5: I mean, how about that.
- 38:59Speaker 6: There is a video somewhere one of the most epic
- 39:01Speaker 6: dance battles ever do a two in the history of
- 39:04Speaker 6: the world, and that is Mike gold Junior and myself
- 39:08Speaker 6: at a wedding.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Oh wow, Gojo's good.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, there were ties on heads. It was. It got crazy.
- 39:16Speaker 4: It's a rite of passage though, for kids to be
- 39:19Speaker 4: embarrassed by their parents, right, because I was thinking about
- 39:22Speaker 4: this earlier, like even celebrity, like the super famous, the
- 39:27Speaker 4: coolest of the cool people, like say, my parents were
- 39:30Speaker 4: Travis Kelcey and Taylor.
- 39:31Speaker 7: Swift right cool parents?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Yes, definitively cool. Those kids would still grow up at
- 39:37Speaker 4: some point thinking while my parents are embarrassing them?
- 39:41Speaker 7: Of course, yes, were your parents.
- 39:43Speaker 6: I looked forward to this. I looked forward to embarrassing
- 39:46Speaker 6: my kids. I got such an opportunity last week. Yes,
- 39:48Speaker 6: and I grabbed it by the horns. And I embarrassed
- 39:52Speaker 6: my kids so bad. And the worst was all of
- 39:56Speaker 6: his friends loved it, and that made him hate it
- 39:59Speaker 6: even more.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Yes, it's all we have left. I mean, it's it's.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Morbid.
- 40:06Speaker 7: Yeah, I live for it all I got.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So my wife is told my daughters, Hey, if you're
- 40:11Speaker 1: embarrassed by whatever it is dad is doing, don't let
- 40:14Speaker 1: him know that you're embarrassed by it.
- 40:16Speaker 7: If you wanted to stop quickly, do not let.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Him know nothing. Just don't tell him, don't show it,
- 40:22Speaker 1: just deal with it.
- 40:23Speaker 7: We'll be over quickly.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Who do you embarrass more? Your daughter's or your wife?
- 40:27Speaker 7: Oh?
- 40:27Speaker 5: My wife?
- 40:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not even close, because she actually chose me, like.
- 40:32Speaker 3: My kids didn't have a choice. My wife has to
- 40:34Speaker 3: look at me and go right. I said yes to that.
- 40:38Speaker 7: Yeah, and you're out with friends, and they're like, you
- 40:40Speaker 7: chose that.
- 40:42Speaker 3: What's wrong?
- 40:42Speaker 7: What is wrong with you? Right?
- 40:44Speaker 3: That's what you've thought was the best option for your life.
- 40:47Speaker 1: They don't say it out loud. It's not an open
- 40:49Speaker 1: discussion at a dinner table. But when you go to
- 40:51Speaker 1: the bathroom. Oh yeah, all.
- 40:56Speaker 7: Right, Taylor, are you leading us off today? Yeah?
- 40:58Speaker 4: I'll go first.
- 40:59Speaker 5: I forgot about the game for a second.
- 41:00Speaker 7: I was just joining the music.
- 41:03Speaker 4: Is it just me? Or is the whole concept of
- 41:06Speaker 4: joining a fraternity or sorority in college kind of lane?
- 41:11Speaker 4: It's not just you, So Stu, I don't know. Have
- 41:13Speaker 4: you seen the situation that happened at Penn State?
- 41:15Speaker 7: No so.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Pennsylvania authorities have charged fourteen people, including thirteen current or
- 41:21Speaker 4: former Penn State students, in connection with an alleged cocaine
- 41:26Speaker 4: trafficking operation run through the Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon
- 41:32Speaker 4: fraternity houses during two thousand and three twenty twenty four.
- 41:36Speaker 5: Rolls right off the tongue.
- 41:37Speaker 4: YEA letters are a foreign concept to me. I'm looking
- 41:41Speaker 4: at these.
- 41:44Speaker 7: Concept to me, so Stu.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Prosecutors say, alleged ring leaders Agostino Albotiello and Thomas Robinson
- 41:54Speaker 4: a lot easier to say obtained clear out obtained cocaine
- 41:57Speaker 4: from Philadelphia and New York than had it cut package
- 42:01Speaker 4: and sold primarily to Penn State students. Some fraternity pledges
- 42:05Speaker 4: were allegedly made to help prepare the cocaine as part
- 42:09Speaker 4: of the pledging process, and people are now calling these
- 42:12Speaker 4: kids Pablo Pledge Cabar.
- 42:15Speaker 5: It's one.
- 42:15Speaker 6: It's it's it's a top five nickname in all of sports,
- 42:18Speaker 6: all sports.
- 42:21Speaker 7: It's hard to say.
- 42:22Speaker 4: It's tough to say.
- 42:23Speaker 7: It can't be the.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Top five nickname.
- 42:24Speaker 7: If it's tough to say, I mean, try again say it.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Say quickly, Pablo Pledge Cabar.
- 42:30Speaker 7: All right, go ahead, you can't say it.
- 42:34Speaker 4: You're saying cigar.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Poplo pledge cigar.
- 42:36Speaker 1: You're saying cigar though. It's a Northeast thing. I'm telling
- 42:39Speaker 1: you tailors from the Northeast though.
- 42:41Speaker 4: So it's a point though, if you're these pledges.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, it's college, man, it's college that.
- 42:49Speaker 4: You're committing felonies that you're gonna go to jail for.
- 42:53Speaker 7: To see in college stands for cocaine, I mean.
- 42:56Speaker 4: And of course it's Penn State to the white out game, right, did.
- 43:01Speaker 7: You want me to snort with laughter. There you got it.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Like I am trying, I'm thinking of rails, I am
- 43:11Speaker 1: thinking of every possible I'm trying to figure out something
- 43:14Speaker 1: with Niitney Lions, Lions.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Nitney Liones.
- 43:19Speaker 7: We stumbled into it.
- 43:20Speaker 5: How about the Lions? Yes?
- 43:23Speaker 7: Try that, Nick Dave one more though you No.
- 43:26Speaker 6: I don't want to now self conscious about it. I'm
- 43:28Speaker 6: Taylor on the dance floor. I'm just gonna stand there
- 43:30Speaker 6: and watch you guys.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Yes, once again, I forgot. We were playing a game.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Mikey year up. That was a good one, Taylor. I
- 43:35Speaker 5: like that.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 43:36Speaker 5: Yes?
- 43:39Speaker 7: Is it just me?
- 43:40Speaker 6: Or is there no worse way to relieve stress than
- 43:42Speaker 6: play golf? I feel like golf is adds to stress
- 43:46Speaker 6: a lot more than that it takes away. I was
- 43:48Speaker 6: reading Dante Moore had had some mental ish mental health
- 43:53Speaker 6: issues after last season. He was looking at a lot
- 43:56Speaker 6: of social media posts that were, of course just filled
- 43:59Speaker 6: with the word types of people, and He's like, I
- 44:02Speaker 6: got offline and I started playing golf for my mental health.
- 44:05Speaker 6: And I was like, you couldn't have thought of anything better.
- 44:08Speaker 6: You couldn't have done knitting, you couldn't have done anything else.
- 44:11Speaker 6: To maybe relax yourself then play a game that has
- 44:14Speaker 6: people so angry.
- 44:16Speaker 5: All the time.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I would say, as an avid golfer, staying online is
- 44:19Speaker 1: less stressful than playing golf.
- 44:22Speaker 4: No, I'm on the opposite side because I see where
- 44:25Speaker 4: Dante Moore is coming from. If you're just going out
- 44:28Speaker 4: there and you're not keeping score, a bogie's not going
- 44:32Speaker 4: to ruin your day. A double bogie certainly's not going
- 44:34Speaker 4: to ruin your day. If you're just out there and
- 44:36Speaker 4: you're just out there in nature and you're swinging a
- 44:39Speaker 4: club and you're seeing the greenery, and you're riding around
- 44:42Speaker 4: that cartes with some music on, and maybe you're out
- 44:45Speaker 4: there with a couple of brands.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh, it's cathartic Outdan, It's like meditation.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like it's it's kind of like an escape
- 44:52Speaker 4: from your reality. Like study you golf a lot to
- 44:55Speaker 4: escape your family. Of course, yes, exactly. Really, I'm doing
- 44:58Speaker 4: it for my family because they don't want me. So
- 45:00Speaker 4: cathartic always, yes, cathartic.
- 45:03Speaker 1: But when I miss a five footer and I'm playing
- 45:06Speaker 1: against my friend Danny Katz and I help him fifty
- 45:08Speaker 1: dollars because of it, it's it's not cathartic.
- 45:10Speaker 5: I'm angry, I'm stressed.
- 45:12Speaker 6: Oh stud, Would you rather read all the hate you
- 45:14Speaker 6: get online? Or double bogie sixteen going into you know,
- 45:18Speaker 6: one of your best one of your worst.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Days, all the hate?
- 45:21Speaker 7: Give it to me, Yeah, yeah, give it to I'll
- 45:23Speaker 7: read it. Sure.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Listen Israel goudy Erez who was out today. But you
- 45:27Speaker 1: guys would agree, he's even keeled, he's not too emotional.
- 45:30Speaker 7: He's a nice guy.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Right, Yes, I'm the best, I mean, stress free, all
- 45:35Speaker 1: that kind of stuff.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Right.
- 45:36Speaker 1: The one time I've never seen is he get angry
- 45:39Speaker 1: before until I took i Isy out of my golf
- 45:42Speaker 1: course for a round of eighteen holes, and on the
- 45:45Speaker 1: eleventh hole he had a bad shot, and he was
- 45:47Speaker 1: so tired of hitting bad shots he threw his club
- 45:50Speaker 1: further than he hit the actual ball.
- 45:53Speaker 4: That's because you're going into that round with the wrong mindset.
- 45:56Speaker 4: You have to go in with the mindset of I'm
- 45:58Speaker 4: just here to have fun. Now, if you're a competitive
- 46:00Speaker 4: side just takes over, right, Okay, then maybe golf isn't
- 46:04Speaker 4: for you. But if you just go in there with
- 46:05Speaker 4: the mindset, if I shoot a one hundred and fifty,
- 46:09Speaker 4: it's still better than being at home.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Yep.
- 46:11Speaker 4: That's that's where golf is.
- 46:13Speaker 7: So I'm telling you that's there.
- 46:14Speaker 1: As he went in with that mindset, if I hit
- 46:16Speaker 1: one fifty, I don't care.
- 46:17Speaker 7: I'm just playing golf with Stu. I'm happy, fun until
- 46:20Speaker 7: the eleventh hole happened. EP Jason has one out in
- 46:26Speaker 7: Sherman Oaks, Go ahead.
- 46:27Speaker 5: EP Jason.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Guys, is it just me or was Stu?
- 46:30Speaker 10: Gott's absolutely correct when he chose to not know or
- 46:33Speaker 10: care who Kyle Tucker was back in.
- 46:36Speaker 5: January, YEP validated the.
- 46:38Speaker 10: Free agent of the offseason, was signed by the best
- 46:42Speaker 10: team in baseball, and he has simultaneously let everyone down.
- 46:48Speaker 10: And I think he has made a clubhouse, a championship
- 46:51Speaker 10: winning clubhouse kind of toxic. And the way he's kind
- 46:54Speaker 10: of moping around, he doesn't want to go out in
- 46:57Speaker 10: the outfield's he's in right field begging for them not
- 47:00Speaker 10: to hit it to them. It's really been something that
- 47:03Speaker 10: nobody saw coming. This guy was a reliable major leaguer
- 47:08Speaker 10: for ten years and he kind of earned that contract,
- 47:11Speaker 10: and he's completely lost confidence. We have watched a guy
- 47:14Speaker 10: completely lose confidence over the course of three months.
- 47:18Speaker 7: Yep, it's the greatest thing that happened to the Mets
- 47:20Speaker 7: this season, not getting it rooting against him. Yes, who.
- 47:27Speaker 4: I have a stat Kyle Tucker's last twenty three at
- 47:30Speaker 4: bats the last seven days, he is one for twenty
- 47:33Speaker 4: three zero point four to three. Y are batting average?
- 47:37Speaker 5: Are right?
- 47:37Speaker 3: That's better than cal Rowley.
- 47:38Speaker 4: The phone started bringing in this room. The phone is
- 47:40Speaker 4: never rung in this room.
- 47:42Speaker 7: Open phone lines. Can we take calls?
- 47:47Speaker 5: We get We'll do a lot, Brady.
- 47:53Speaker 7: Anyway, Ricardo have one? I have told Bordot Ricardo has one.
- 47:57Speaker 1: It's always exciting when I when I hear him speak,
- 48:00Speaker 1: there's no baseball on go ahead, Ricardo.
- 48:02Speaker 5: Well, actually you're wrong.
- 48:02Speaker 7: We are actually watching baseball.
- 48:05Speaker 11: But every day is it just me? Or every day
- 48:08Speaker 11: that passes in this season? Taylor becomes more right about
- 48:11Speaker 11: his Cam Schlitzler Paul Skeen's take, that's not just she
- 48:14Speaker 11: is after today. Paul Skeens has a three ninety five
- 48:17Speaker 11: e er. He only lasted four and a third innings.
- 48:20Speaker 11: Kam Schlitzler has a two to nineteen ERA.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Taylor was right, Yeah, listen, I didn't get into this
- 48:25Speaker 4: business to do it for the credit. Yeah, I don't
- 48:28Speaker 4: want the credit. I don't want Ricardo to pat my
- 48:29Speaker 4: back like he's patting my back right now, right. But
- 48:32Speaker 4: I'll take it.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Yeah, of course you will.
- 48:33Speaker 4: I will not turn it away. But I didn't get
- 48:36Speaker 4: into this business for people to tell me how right
- 48:38Speaker 4: I am.
- 48:39Speaker 5: The same way.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I mean, I could have done without ep Jason saying
- 48:42Speaker 1: I was right on Tucker.
- 48:44Speaker 5: But I'll take it.
- 48:49Speaker 7: So I'm the only one who hasn't been right.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Huh.
- 48:51Speaker 4: But anything, Mike, you would agree I'm right a historically
- 48:56Speaker 4: amount of times.
- 48:59Speaker 7: A shock.
- 49:00Speaker 6: It's uncanny how many times, yes, how many times you've
- 49:03Speaker 6: been right.
- 49:04Speaker 1: We keep a track of who's been right the most.
- 49:06Speaker 4: I leave the league and being right.
- 49:08Speaker 7: You leave the show and being right the league too.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Maybe, okay, maybe, mikey, is your kids started school yet
- 49:15Speaker 1: I asked for.
- 49:16Speaker 7: A reason to Uh No, they haven't.
- 49:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Is it just me because I drove through a school
- 49:23Speaker 1: zone today not aware that school had begun?
- 49:27Speaker 5: Is it just me?
- 49:29Speaker 1: Or does school seem to start earlier and earlier every
- 49:33Speaker 1: single year? But that's I mean, when I was growing up,
- 49:36Speaker 1: school would start like a week after Labor Day.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Well, that's New York. Yeah, that's when school starts in
- 49:42Speaker 6: New York. It starts after Labor Day. When my kids
- 49:44Speaker 6: go back in August.
- 49:46Speaker 7: Yeah, well weird, what are we doing in August? It's summer.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Let the kids? Well, would you rather? I feel like,
- 49:52Speaker 4: if you're a parent, though, you would rather school start
- 49:55Speaker 4: as soon as possible, because then you drop the kids
- 49:58Speaker 4: off and then you still have some summer left for
- 49:59Speaker 4: your yourself, where the opposite situation is you're dropping the
- 50:03Speaker 4: kids off to school after Labor Day and it's already
- 50:06Speaker 4: getting dark out and you don't have as much free time.
- 50:10Speaker 7: See.
- 50:10Speaker 6: I'm a fan of starting earlier and ending earlier because
- 50:15Speaker 6: June feels like summer where you can be like, hey,
- 50:17Speaker 6: let's go do something the last week of June, whereas
- 50:21Speaker 6: nobody's like, hey, let's go do something the last week
- 50:23Speaker 6: of August. Last week of August, you're like, just get me,
- 50:25Speaker 6: just get me to the fall, just get me to
- 50:27Speaker 6: get me to football season.
- 50:28Speaker 7: The last week of August is a bridge to football season. Yeah,
- 50:32Speaker 7: he's right, yes, Yeah, So.
- 50:34Speaker 1: You're saying you'd rather take time off go on vacation
- 50:37Speaker 1: early June than you would end of August.
- 50:39Speaker 5: And I agree with you.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yes, yes, but you're going on vacation with your kids
- 50:43Speaker 1: early June, and I guess you can't in late August
- 50:46Speaker 1: because your if your kids are back at school, you
- 50:48Speaker 1: have to stay home.
- 50:49Speaker 7: Right, sure, disaster. Why are we doing school in August though?
- 50:53Speaker 5: I mean just weird to me.
- 51:00Speaker 4: We should stand for September.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Yes, put it on the polls to the essence, school
- 51:07Speaker 1: stand for September. Ryan Day, the head coach of the
- 51:12Speaker 1: Ohio State Buck Guys, will join us next.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 51:18Speaker 2: Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
- 51:24Speaker 7: Our thanks to Ryan Day for joining us last segment.
- 51:26Speaker 1: I have spent the entire entire commercial break thinking about
- 51:31Speaker 1: people in sports who cannote a time of the day,
- 51:35Speaker 1: and it's weird. All I've come up with so far
- 51:38Speaker 1: is Bobby Knight and Dawn Staley.
- 51:41Speaker 7: I mean, that's it. That's all I got. How about that?
- 51:44Speaker 7: I was, Sam, you have one back at Sherman oakcause
- 51:45Speaker 7: I'm told you have one.
- 51:46Speaker 3: He's not on the show today, but I think he
- 51:48Speaker 3: sent over Alonso morning.
- 51:50Speaker 7: Oh really? Also, how the hell.
- 51:53Speaker 1: You could have just said he's not here? But I
- 51:55Speaker 1: have one Alonzo morning is a very good one.
- 52:00Speaker 5: Higgins. Yes, go ahead.
- 52:01Speaker 4: It's a bit of a it's a nickname. So I
- 52:03Speaker 4: don't know if it counts. But a night train lane does. Cannot,
- 52:08Speaker 4: you know, taking a train at a certain time of day.
- 52:11Speaker 7: Yes, I like t Higgins for tea time. I do.
- 52:17Speaker 1: But that's it. I have a weird mind. Let's get
- 52:19Speaker 1: to Taylor. Taylor has a worst game in all of sports?
- 52:23Speaker 5: What is this?
- 52:24Speaker 7: Taylor? Is this the worst game to attend? The worst
- 52:26Speaker 7: game you've ever seen? What is it?
- 52:28Speaker 4: It's a nominee for the worst game to go to
- 52:30Speaker 4: in off sports. So say you get a ticket to
- 52:33Speaker 4: a game, what is the worst possible outcome of a
- 52:36Speaker 4: certain game that you could potentially go to?
- 52:39Speaker 5: Okay, got it?
- 52:40Speaker 4: So last week we were off radio. I go back
- 52:42Speaker 4: to New York. I go to the Yankee game Tuesday.
- 52:45Speaker 4: And I go to the Yankee game Thursday. Tuesday. Fantastic game.
- 52:48Speaker 4: The Yankees are down one nothing, they have a comeback late,
- 52:51Speaker 4: they win it. I believe it was three to one
- 52:54Speaker 4: they won that game. I go Thursday. It was a
- 52:57Speaker 4: one thirty start game. And the Thursday game was where
- 53:01Speaker 4: I thought of it because it was the worst game
- 53:02Speaker 4: I've ever attended, the worst possible scenario of a game
- 53:05Speaker 4: you could ever go to, a one nothing baseball loss.
- 53:09Speaker 5: I mean, that's a pictures duel right there.
- 53:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but you win to loss.
- 53:13Speaker 5: I know, I understand.
- 53:15Speaker 4: When your team loses one nothing in a baseball game. Yes,
- 53:19Speaker 4: first part of it the loss. Obviously, going to a
- 53:22Speaker 4: game where your team loses that stinks. One nothing loss,
- 53:25Speaker 4: though you have to stay for the entire game because
- 53:28Speaker 4: in the back of your mind you're like, they could win.
- 53:31Speaker 4: You're only down one run, Yes, but you still lose.
- 53:34Speaker 4: You didn't see any offense, and it's just a disaster
- 53:38Speaker 4: of a game.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Would you, guys be okay if you went to a game,
- 53:42Speaker 1: a Yankee game, let's say, and the opposing pitture you
- 53:45Speaker 1: lost the game, but the opposing pitcher had a perfect game,
- 53:49Speaker 1: would you be happy or upset?
- 53:53Speaker 3: I'd be happy I got to see something.
- 53:55Speaker 7: You got to see a perfect game?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yayh terror, Mikey, how is it a terrible question?
- 54:00Speaker 4: You get to see history. It's not a terrible question.
- 54:03Speaker 4: It was a terrible answer from Mikey. Mikey, open your
- 54:05Speaker 4: wallet right now and give me over your Yankee fan card.
- 54:09Speaker 4: If you want to go to a game where somebody
- 54:11Speaker 4: throws a perfect game against your team, I would.
- 54:15Speaker 7: No, I'm with Mikey. I wonder seeing history.
- 54:18Speaker 6: I would rather have gone to see a perfect game
- 54:20Speaker 6: thrown against the Yankees than a one nothing loss where
- 54:23Speaker 6: they had two hits, two meaningless singles somewhere in the game.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Then all I did was waste my time for nothing.
- 54:29Speaker 1: That's an easy one. But Taylor, the Yankees are nine
- 54:32Speaker 1: games up in the Al East. Okay, let's just imagine
- 54:34Speaker 1: that you go to the game, they lose two to nothing.
- 54:37Speaker 1: You're in the game the entire time the opposing pitcher
- 54:39Speaker 1: throws a perfect game. You're okay with that?
- 54:41Speaker 4: No, No, I don't want to be on the wrong
- 54:44Speaker 4: side of history. You're That's exactly what it is. I
- 54:47Speaker 4: don't want.
- 54:47Speaker 1: You've spent plenty of time on the right side of history.
- 54:50Speaker 1: It's okay for one day to witness a perfect game
- 54:53Speaker 1: an opposed because the entire no one has spent more
- 54:56Speaker 1: time on the right side of history then your.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Bas Okay, don't get me started on that. Because the
- 55:04Speaker 4: Yankee fans that hold up twenty seven rings all the time,
- 55:08Speaker 4: I cannot stand those people because it's like, Okay, we
- 55:11Speaker 4: were winning in the twenties with the Murderers, row like
- 55:13Speaker 4: we haven't won a World Series since two thousand and nine. Still,
- 55:16Speaker 4: I don't want to be on the on the wrong
- 55:18Speaker 4: side of history. I don't want to look in the
- 55:20Speaker 4: record books later on and every time I see, you know,
- 55:23Speaker 4: say it's say it's Garrett Crochet throws a perfect game
- 55:26Speaker 4: for the Red Sox against the Yankees. I don't want to.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Have whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa.
- 55:29Speaker 6: Nobody said it was the Red Sox. Let's just let's
- 55:33Speaker 6: just get that out of the word I did. Nobody
- 55:35Speaker 6: said Red Sox.
- 55:35Speaker 7: I didn't specify a team that is fair.
- 55:37Speaker 4: I don't even think it.
- 55:38Speaker 3: Matters a team or the place. It does matter.
- 55:40Speaker 4: If the Marlins come to town and Yuri Perez has
- 55:43Speaker 4: a perfect game and Clayton mcclobe, their manager, doesn't make
- 55:47Speaker 4: the boneheaded decision to take him out of a perfect
- 55:49Speaker 4: game after seven innings, I still don't want to be
- 55:52Speaker 4: on that. I'll, i'll, I'll concede to this. Riccardo weighs
- 55:57Speaker 4: in as our baseball expert. If Ricardo says he would
- 56:00Speaker 4: want to go to a perfect game against his team,
- 56:02Speaker 4: or if he says he wouldn't want to go, and
- 56:04Speaker 4: then that's the final answer.
- 56:05Speaker 7: Okay, so you're making him the okay.
- 56:07Speaker 4: The judge and the jur Okay, why does he get it?
- 56:12Speaker 4: He's baseball?
- 56:12Speaker 5: You're right, he is baseball.
- 56:14Speaker 3: You know what. I can't even argue this. Yes, go ahead, Ricardo.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Put it on the pole tailor is Ricardo baseball? And
- 56:20Speaker 1: also put this on the poll. When you think baseball?
- 56:21Speaker 1: Do you think Ricardo?
- 56:23Speaker 4: Me and Ricardo were talking earlier and he said his
- 56:24Speaker 4: middle name is actually baseball.
- 56:26Speaker 7: Really that's special. All right, Ricardo baseball?
- 56:32Speaker 5: Go ahead? All right.
- 56:33Speaker 11: So there's been twenty four perfect games in the history
- 56:36Speaker 11: of baseball accounted for.
- 56:38Speaker 7: Yes, but Taylor is correct.
- 56:40Speaker 11: You cannot go to a game and want to see
- 56:44Speaker 11: a perfect game pitch against you. And there are plenty
- 56:46Speaker 11: of Marlins fans which are who.
- 56:49Speaker 7: Said, want well, time out. So hold on.
- 56:51Speaker 1: I want to hear Ricardo out on this, because there
- 56:53Speaker 1: were Marlin fans who were in attendance when Roy Halliday
- 56:55Speaker 1: pitched a perfect game. The Marlins went I to sell
- 56:58Speaker 1: that ball because they're great. Samson was running it at
- 57:01Speaker 1: the time, there were Marlins fans.
- 57:02Speaker 11: Who weren't in attendance, who were trying to get tickets
- 57:05Speaker 11: from that game the day after that. It's pathetic, and
- 57:11Speaker 11: Taylor's right. You don't want to look at a history
- 57:12Speaker 11: book and then you see it. Oh, you know whomever
- 57:15Speaker 11: Garrett Crochet through a perfect game against the New York
- 57:19Speaker 11: Yankees on this day and you were there. No, man,
- 57:21Speaker 11: that's say that hurts.
- 57:22Speaker 1: So you're going to a Marlins game and you're driving
- 57:25Speaker 1: down there, and there's a low bar.
- 57:27Speaker 5: You're asking yourself why.
- 57:30Speaker 1: As you sit in traffic, but there's a very low
- 57:33Speaker 1: bar they have set in terms of the entertainment value
- 57:36Speaker 1: when you go to a Marlins game. And so you're
- 57:39Speaker 1: telling me, if you do happen to attend a Marlins game,
- 57:42Speaker 1: make the trip to the stadium, and you get to
- 57:44Speaker 1: see a perfect game against your team, is that not
- 57:47Speaker 1: a good thing?
- 57:48Speaker 7: You are witnessing history. I mean seriously.
- 57:51Speaker 11: But also I'll be witnessing history if it's twenty six
- 57:55Speaker 11: outs and we get a base hit and ruin the
- 57:56Speaker 11: perfect game for the pitcher, which I would be more
- 57:58Speaker 11: happy about it.
- 58:00Speaker 1: That's not history, no, But I mean seeing a Marlin
- 58:03Speaker 1: seeing a Marlins win to get them back to fifteen
- 58:07Speaker 1: out in the NL East, as opposed to seeing a
- 58:09Speaker 1: guy throw a perfect game.
- 58:12Speaker 7: I choose the perfect game. I mean, I don't care.
- 58:16Speaker 11: Stu Gotts, I understand exactly what you're saying. But you're
- 58:20Speaker 11: the judge, You're baseball. You're rooting for your team, your club,
- 58:23Speaker 11: this is you, this is your hometown team. Man, you
- 58:26Speaker 11: can't want a perfect game twenty seven up, twenty seven down.
- 58:29Speaker 7: That's embarrassing.
- 58:30Speaker 1: I will root for my team through seven innings regardless,
- 58:32Speaker 1: until there's twenty one up and twenty one down.
- 58:34Speaker 7: Then I'm starting to root for a perfect game.
- 58:36Speaker 5: How about that?
- 58:36Speaker 3: A two hit shutout is embarrassing too.
- 58:39Speaker 6: Just so we're clear, like the fact that they got
- 58:41Speaker 6: twenty seven up twenty seven down is not that much
- 58:44Speaker 6: different than watching my team have a two hitter.
- 58:48Speaker 11: No one touched first base Mikey Taylor.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Taylor is upset.
- 58:55Speaker 4: I'm disgusting. I'm quite anybody who wants to see a
- 58:58Speaker 4: perfect game pitched against their team, I'm qushing sever Once
- 59:03Speaker 4: ste was saying he would want to see a perfect game.
- 59:05Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying would you want it like I
- 59:08Speaker 1: would rather see a perfect game than see what you saw.
- 59:11Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Well, that's obvious, right, But I'm just saying in general,
- 59:15Speaker 1: if I dropped down, I don't care if it's against
- 59:17Speaker 1: me or for me. I'd prefer to be for me.
- 59:19Speaker 1: But if I see a perfect game, I see a
- 59:21Speaker 1: perfect game. There's been twenty something in the history of
- 59:24Speaker 1: Major League Baseball.
- 59:25Speaker 7: I saw one of them.
- 59:26Speaker 4: I mean, I have another nominee for the worst game
- 59:29Speaker 4: you could go to in all of sports. Yeah, the
- 59:32Speaker 4: zero zero soccer draw the worst.
- 59:34Speaker 1: I mean, isn't that all of them?
- 59:39Speaker 3: How about a six or three football game?
- 59:42Speaker 4: That would be terrible too.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Would you take a six to three win or a
- 59:45Speaker 1: thirty seven for the Jets six' three win where they
- 59:49Speaker 1: lose thirty seven thirty, four but you're.
- 59:51Speaker 5: Entertained i'd rather be entertained with that.
- 59:55Speaker 6: Team i've been waiting for a decade almost for them to.
- 59:59Speaker 6: Enter they haven't entertained me Since Ryan.
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: Fitzpatrick you would walk out.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Whistling, yeah that's a good. Loss entertaining game and a good. Loss,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Ah i'm with, You, Yeah, Taylor, Taylor, yeah go.
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: Ahead is it more likely The yankees pitch a perfect
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: game this season or get pitched a perfect game against.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Them oh, wow that's actually a good.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Question it's a great question for this.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: TEAM i think it's more likely that they get a
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: perfect game pitched against. Them their their offenses.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Lifeless, yeah but they have great. PITCHING i mean, yeah
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: that's why it was a great.
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: Question we'll talk to you guys.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: Tomorrow
