- 0:27Hey everybody. Good morning from the porch.
- 0:30You know why? Guess what?
- 0:32It's still raining. Yes, this rain.
- 0:36You can hear the Roosters off in the distance.
- 0:39And this rain is still going drizzling, pitch dark, way past
- 0:44the time it should be dark still.
- 0:45But it is just this weather, and it is a pattern.
- 0:49And I thought, wow, this is a great time to talk about
- 0:52patterns because we're stuck in one and it's not a resourceful
- 0:57one. At some point, you know, water
- 0:59is a wonderful thing and it can nourish and we all need it.
- 1:02But at a certain point it becomes deadly and it can become
- 1:05deadly quickly for many reasons. One can drown in it, one can
- 1:09over drink it. And you know, it causes toxic
- 1:12reactions in the body. There are lots of things that
- 1:15can happen and in this case, there's just too much of it on
- 1:17the ground. So we are flooded with lots of
- 1:21different things. Even my dragonflies, which
- 1:25control the mosquitoes, are just fat and happy because boy, are
- 1:29there mosquitoes right now. Normally they keep them under
- 1:32control, but right now there are so many of them because of all
- 1:36this water. So it's a pattern and we are
- 1:41waiting for the pattern to dry up.
- 1:42Now. This is supposed to break in the
- 1:45next couple of days, but it's a great time for us to just talk
- 1:48in general about patterns and how they affect us.
- 1:52So stop and pause for a second and think about what patterns am
- 1:55I in that are good patterns? What patterns are the ones that
- 1:59are working for me? And make a list, like
- 2:01legitimately sit down and write it out and make a list so you
- 2:04can see what patterns are working.
- 2:06Whether it's, yes, I'm in a pattern of walking every day.
- 2:08That's one of my patterns. I'm in a pattern of having very
- 2:12healthy drink in the morning instead of coffee.
- 2:15I'm doing an LMNT, which is a very salty packet that has the
- 2:21right amounts of the nutrients and the things that you need in
- 2:26order to keep your body balanced.
- 2:28And so I drink that in the morning and I like that.
- 2:31I gave up drinking coffee in the morning.
- 2:33I felt like I wasn't getting anything from it and my stomach
- 2:36was feeling awful. Switch and boom, I feel much
- 2:38better. So it's a good pattern.
- 2:41What's a bad pattern? A bad pattern can be anything
- 2:45that you know you're doing over and over again that doesn't work
- 2:47for you. And, and it can be anything in
- 2:50excess, like think about that. So for the last month or so, I
- 2:55have been in a very, I'm going to call it a stretched pattern
- 2:59where I've been getting up exceedingly early to work on
- 3:02something very, very early, like anywhere from 3:30 to 4:00 in
- 3:06the morning. So I had extra hours every
- 3:09single day where I could work on this.
- 3:11Now it was very stretched, but it's not something that I can do
- 3:15long term and I know that. So it's something I have to pay
- 3:19attention to. Bad pattern for me eating
- 3:22chocolate every afternoon. I mean, granted, OK, it's
- 3:25organic chocolate, but still, it's sugar and it's not
- 3:28necessarily healthy, but I love chocolate.
- 3:32So I allow myself to have an unhealthy pattern with it.
- 3:36But I have to be under control. I can't eat too much of it.
- 3:39I have to monitor it. One of my clients, and he's a
- 3:43regular listener, so when he hears this, he's going to know
- 3:45I'm talking about him. Mountain Dew, he'll drink
- 3:48Mountain Dew. Unhealthy, right?
- 3:50We've talked about that before. Not a good pattern.
- 3:54So you have to look at them. They show up in the simplest
- 3:57things and they show up in the most complicated things.
- 4:00It can be that, oh, you know, in order my wine down at night, I
- 4:04read and then I end up reading for too many hours.
- 4:08I don't stop myself and then I don't get enough sleep and then
- 4:11I'm grumpy in the morning. So reading is actually a healthy
- 4:13pattern that turns into an unhealthy pattern.
- 4:15You see how this works? It's all twisted.
- 4:18It has these tentacles that come out.
- 4:20So really sit down and and contemplate what are the
- 4:24healthiest of patterns that I'm doing and what are the
- 4:27unhealthiest of patterns that I'm doing?
- 4:29Where are the stretched patterns?
- 4:31Where are the ones that I know I can do it for a short period of
- 4:34time? Like I do that because I know I
- 4:36can do it for a short period of time and I have a time frame
- 4:40that I set and then I can say, OK, there is light at the end of
- 4:44the tunnel supposed to, you know that old saying.
- 4:46And I like that because it gives me something to focus on.
- 4:50It puts my head in the right space.
- 4:52You know it. This is one of the the times
- 4:54that your own awareness and observation is more powerful
- 4:58than ever because you can't have a coach with you all the time
- 5:01saying, well, that's very unhealthy on everything that you
- 5:04do. But you know you, you know, we
- 5:06all know, we all know it. So be honest with yourself.
- 5:10Look at it, find out what are the ones that are unhealthy?
- 5:14What are the ones that are healthy?
- 5:15What are the ones that I'm stretching myself on that I'm
- 5:18going to do only for a short period of time.
- 5:20And then really ask yourself, what can I put in place of it,
- 5:23just like I did with the coffee and any other things that you
- 5:26come up with. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:28you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:30Bye.
