- 0:06Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied the Bench.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from downtown Baton
- 0:14Speaker 1: Rouge starts now.
- 0:58Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Now we'rena ye or two of OTB. All right, So
- 1:04Speaker 4: just to set up the rest of the show, we
- 1:05Speaker 4: moved a couple things around, So Jeff Watson and Will
- 1:07Speaker 4: Helmer's will join us at eight fifteen from the G team.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Talk a little nil with them again at eight to fifteen.
- 1:14Speaker 4: We've got chef Michael Johnson to answer your Munchi questions
- 1:18Speaker 4: at nine to fifteen, and we'll catch up with NFL
- 1:20Speaker 4: Hall of Famer Patrick Willis at nine thirty. So still
- 1:24Speaker 4: a lot coming your way here in the show. We're
- 1:26Speaker 4: gonna watch a little tape, watch a little film here.
- 1:29Speaker 4: But we did have a question coming in, got this
- 1:32Speaker 4: one that I wanted to throw your way.
- 1:34Speaker 3: How will LSU.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Get all of their blitz packages in when ole miss
- 1:42Speaker 4: is going in hyper speed? As we know, they try
- 1:46Speaker 4: to get to the ball as fast as anybody in
- 1:48Speaker 4: the country. And that's one of the reasons why there's
- 1:50Speaker 4: a misconception of the old Miss offense. Everyone just assumes
- 1:55Speaker 4: that because you go fast, you throw the football. Now
- 1:57Speaker 4: they'll they'll throw the football, but they want to run
- 1:59Speaker 4: it way more than they throw it. So like that's
- 2:03Speaker 4: a part of it. But defensively, when you're as aggressive
- 2:07Speaker 4: as LSU is and you're throwing all different blitzes and
- 2:09Speaker 4: you're coming from everywhere, you're coming from safety, you're coming
- 2:13Speaker 4: from corner cats. Certainly, the linebackers are very active, the
- 2:17Speaker 4: star position, Matthew is very active. How does LSU get
- 2:24Speaker 4: all of that in If Ole Miss is trying to
- 2:26Speaker 4: go fast and can you be as aggressive when they're
- 2:29Speaker 4: going fast.
- 2:31Speaker 5: The answer to that question is you can't put everything in.
- 2:35Speaker 5: You can't and you can't do every single look you
- 2:38Speaker 5: want to do. Yeah, Ole Mist likes to go fast,
- 2:42Speaker 5: but they are doing a lot of get to the
- 2:46Speaker 5: ball fast and then see what happens. They're gonna check
- 2:51Speaker 5: with me on the sideline, they're gonna get the play calls,
- 2:53Speaker 5: they're gonna get the signals.
- 2:54Speaker 2: So you do have time to make some calls.
- 2:58Speaker 5: But what you're doing right now throughout the week is
- 3:01Speaker 5: you are hyper focused on the communication between the linebackers
- 3:06Speaker 5: and the defensive backs. You're working on your signaling, You're
- 3:08Speaker 5: working on your your calls. You're working in in in
- 3:14Speaker 5: practice all week long about Okay, I got one linebacker,
- 3:18Speaker 5: he's got the green dot on his head, he's getting
- 3:19Speaker 5: the call.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We're also signaling from the sideline, probably to the DB's.
- 3:23Speaker 5: dB coaches are you know, notorious for signaling to the
- 3:26Speaker 5: corners and the safeties, and they relay it to the
- 3:28Speaker 5: other guys. But you're making sure you're communicating. If you
- 3:31Speaker 5: want to run a full plethora of blitz packages, it
- 3:36Speaker 5: has to be communicate, communicate, communicate, because they get to
- 3:40Speaker 5: the line of scrimmage, and that's what a fast paced
- 3:42Speaker 5: offense wants to do. Yeah, if they want to make
- 3:44Speaker 5: your defenses as vanilla as possible, right, they want to
- 3:47Speaker 5: make you vanilla as possible. And then they also want
- 3:49Speaker 5: to get a good look at what you're trying to do,
- 3:51Speaker 5: and then the coach can make the check with me
- 3:53Speaker 5: or the audibles or the alerts or whatever it is
- 3:55Speaker 5: instead of putting on the quarterback shoulders.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But just because they go.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Fast ask to the line of scrimmage doesn't necessarily mean
- 4:02Speaker 5: they snapped the ball fast. I'd like to see what
- 4:04Speaker 5: their average snap on the like what time on the
- 4:06Speaker 5: play clock is because a lot of times there's people
- 4:08Speaker 5: rest of the line of scrimmage, but they still snap
- 4:10Speaker 5: the ball with ten to fifteen seconds left on the
- 4:12Speaker 5: play clock, right, So it's not necessarily so usually you
- 4:15Speaker 5: will have time to make adjustments. But the communication is
- 4:20Speaker 5: paramount from between the linebacker.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and now it is easier in college football because
- 4:26Speaker 4: you got the green dot, right Harrol Perkins wearing the
- 4:27Speaker 4: green bays, and you got communication in your helmet and
- 4:30Speaker 4: so like now it falls on if you know perk
- 4:34Speaker 4: to be able to get the call in and you
- 4:36Speaker 4: could codeword a lot of your blitzes too. Hey, every
- 4:38Speaker 4: word that we say that starts with this letter is
- 4:41Speaker 4: going to be this blitz every you know, it doesn't
- 4:43Speaker 4: have to just be hey, hey, corner cat, but hey
- 4:47Speaker 4: we're bringing strike Sam in safety strike.
- 4:51Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be that.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I mean, it can be something that is a code
- 4:54Speaker 4: word for you and old miss. They're college students. They're
- 4:58Speaker 4: not gonna be able to pick up on your code
- 4:59Speaker 4: words within one game.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It's just not gonna happen.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:02Speaker 4: So you can still get it done right, and you
- 5:05Speaker 4: can get everything you've done without having Now you can
- 5:07Speaker 4: hand signal something if you want to.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Again, college kids aren't gonna pick up a ton of that.
- 5:10Speaker 4: LSU hasn't had to do that because Clemson didn't go
- 5:13Speaker 4: fast on the road. Every other game has been a
- 5:15Speaker 4: home game, so they've been able to communicate pretty easily.
- 5:18Speaker 4: So if you handle it right and if you prepare right,
- 5:22Speaker 4: it will be a challenge, but it won't be impossible.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It won't be impossible.
- 5:25Speaker 5: But again, it's like if we're a team that doesn't
- 5:27Speaker 5: go like when you play a normal team, you can
- 5:29Speaker 5: have maybe twenty different blitzes in you go a game
- 5:34Speaker 5: like this, you want to communicate, You're probably gonna communicate
- 5:36Speaker 5: four or five maybe six. Now when you get a
- 5:40Speaker 5: chance to slow down, if there's a timeout on the field,
- 5:42Speaker 5: and that's when you can call your exotics. Like when
- 5:45Speaker 5: you you're gonna go into the game in a hurry
- 5:47Speaker 5: up situation when they're speeding to the ball they have
- 5:50Speaker 5: that fastballed mentality on offense, you're gonna go in there
- 5:53Speaker 5: with four or five maybe six right and then but
- 5:56Speaker 5: you exotics available. TV timeouts timeouts on the field, injury timeouts.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that Elshu And actually I'd love
- 6:04Speaker 4: to ask Blake Baker this. I do think that LSU's
- 6:07Speaker 4: players have the ability to get the call and the
- 6:12Speaker 4: player that's not actually blitzing has the ability to show
- 6:18Speaker 4: these blitzing and move around, and they give them that
- 6:21Speaker 4: option as long as they end up where they're supposed to.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Because thank you for Blake Baker, you're not hey on
- 6:28Speaker 4: this play, West Weeks, I want you to kind of
- 6:31Speaker 4: actually stutter up a little bit and act like you're
- 6:32Speaker 4: maybe coming and with it's actually you, it's going to
- 6:34Speaker 4: be blitzing. I think they just do a really good
- 6:37Speaker 4: job of understanding where their blitz is coming from. And
- 6:39Speaker 4: it's like in the NFL we call it rock and roll, right,
- 6:42Speaker 4: and it's it's a version of that.
- 6:44Speaker 3: But I think they do that on their own and
- 6:46Speaker 3: so it's like.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Who is it's not a complete ad lib. They practiced that.
- 6:49Speaker 5: The coach is talking about, Hey, you need to you
- 6:52Speaker 5: have the freedom here to disguise or decoy whatever you
- 6:55Speaker 5: want to call it. But to your point, the defense
- 6:58Speaker 5: might have a call and against like an offense like
- 7:01Speaker 5: this that goes fast.
- 7:02Speaker 2: The defense might have a call.
- 7:03Speaker 5: It's a pressure call, and it might be if it's
- 7:07Speaker 5: a three by one set, the pressure might be completely different.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It might be it might be a weak cat. If
- 7:12Speaker 2: it's a two by two set, it.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Might be a one like an alert flip call and
- 7:17Speaker 5: it becomes a strong dog where they bring the the
- 7:20Speaker 5: Nickel Sam and the Mike linebacker and drop the backside.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Defense been so.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Nicol Sam would be called star.
- 7:25Speaker 5: No. No, so really no, it wouldn't. Don't be dumb.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Don't be dumb right now. Uh no, it is. So
- 7:35Speaker 5: depending on the look you get, it's kind of like
- 7:38Speaker 5: on offense. Offense has an either or type situation. So
- 7:43Speaker 5: from the like a real basic if you have a
- 7:46Speaker 5: route concept, one of them's good. One left side's good
- 7:49Speaker 5: against single high safety, right side is going to good
- 7:51Speaker 5: against two s safety.
- 7:52Speaker 2: You're gonna throw different routes.
- 7:54Speaker 5: It's gonna look like a little bit different play from
- 7:56Speaker 5: the outcome depending on the defense you get. Same with defense,
- 7:59Speaker 5: depending on the the offense shows you, the defense might
- 8:02Speaker 5: look completely different.
- 8:07Speaker 4: We all thought it was a fire alarm, so we
- 8:09Speaker 4: were just we all went all right, we're not you know,
- 8:11Speaker 4: we're not burning up here.
- 8:12Speaker 5: But against the Old Miss reels. Against these guys, you
- 8:15Speaker 5: gotta be careful.
- 8:17Speaker 4: The Bears, the Black Bears, the Sharks, the land Sharks,
- 8:21Speaker 4: a lot of nicknames.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Uh yeah, what are we doing?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Like then they don't even like I don't really actually
- 8:26Speaker 5: know what they're trying to.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Be Like Auburn.
- 8:29Speaker 5: So when you face Elane Kiffin offense, he's a really
- 8:33Speaker 5: good play caller, play designer.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yea.
- 8:35Speaker 5: He wants to bait you into things. He wants to
- 8:38Speaker 5: do something to make you react to it and then
- 8:41Speaker 5: CounterPunch and react to your reaction.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Right, So he wants you.
- 8:45Speaker 5: To bait bait bas So, I told you a lot
- 8:47Speaker 5: that in the first half when Old Miss played Arkansas,
- 8:53Speaker 5: they ran the ball a lot.
- 8:54Speaker 2: So what does that do.
- 8:55Speaker 5: You got to bring an extra person into the box
- 8:57Speaker 5: to control that because they had a hard time stop
- 8:59Speaker 5: and a quarterback run, a basic quarterback run. So you
- 9:01Speaker 5: bring people in the box. So what does that do
- 9:03Speaker 5: in the second half? Taylor, go ahead and pull up
- 9:05Speaker 5: this film. I'm gonna show you a I think.
- 9:07Speaker 3: A three tailor to the tape.
- 9:10Speaker 5: To the tape, I'm gonna show you three plays in
- 9:12Speaker 5: a row here in this one drive.
- 9:14Speaker 2: This is in the second half.
- 9:15Speaker 5: I think this starts with about eight and a half
- 9:17Speaker 5: minutes left in the third quarter. So what after many
- 9:21Speaker 5: many quarterback runs, They're gonna load the box. So we
- 9:25Speaker 5: got a four wide situation. We have five offensive linement,
- 9:28Speaker 5: we have one running back. But how many people are
- 9:31Speaker 5: in the box and what I mean by in the
- 9:33Speaker 5: box in the tackle box, that'd be six defenders, so
- 9:36Speaker 5: you got five to block. Six numbers ain't great. So
- 9:40Speaker 5: that's when Lane Kiffin decides, all right, they're loading the box.
- 9:43Speaker 5: We got some one on one coverage out here. So
- 9:46Speaker 5: we run a simple little two receiver double slant action
- 9:50Speaker 5: down here to the bottom.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Boom.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Simple right, Yeah, it's an easy throw, easy throw, take
- 9:56Speaker 5: a little slam. But this is what I'm talking about
- 9:57Speaker 5: with this quarterback. He's not the most talented arm guy.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Like he completes a lot of passes, but they're not
- 10:02Speaker 5: all like perfect passes, Like get a little slant here,
- 10:05Speaker 5: hits them in the back.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yip.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Okay, a little thing, little thing for a quarterback. All right,
- 10:10Speaker 5: next play, same thing, same look on defense. We got
- 10:16Speaker 5: a two bout two exact same formation, Lane Kiffin, We're
- 10:19Speaker 5: gonna call the same play. But instead of running a slant,
- 10:21Speaker 5: we're gonna run a slug go. What is a SLUGO
- 10:23Speaker 5: It's a slant and go. So sets them up. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 5: same coverage, Yep, slant and go, same coverage. We couldn't
- 10:32Speaker 5: be more open. All behind him. Still makes a big play,
- 10:35Speaker 5: all right, So go back real quick? All right, right there?
- 10:38Speaker 4: All right, listeners, if you're watching on YouTube, watch at
- 10:41Speaker 4: the bottom of the screen and watch who throws their
- 10:43Speaker 4: arms up as soon as it happens.
- 10:46Speaker 3: That would be Lane Kiffen.
- 10:47Speaker 2: That would be Lank Kivin.
- 10:48Speaker 3: He knew exactly what he did.
- 10:49Speaker 2: He knew exactly what he did.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Because he ran the slant to play before and look
- 10:53Speaker 5: thirteen for Arkansas.
- 10:56Speaker 4: You trash, yeah, and honestly, like with a better ball,
- 11:00Speaker 4: would have a chance to make a move on safety.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Third play in this drive, go back to it. Not done.
- 11:05Speaker 5: This is the So we ran a slant, we ran
- 11:07Speaker 5: a slant and go, and now Lane in the first
- 11:09Speaker 5: half ran behind the line of scrimmage screen passes. What
- 11:14Speaker 5: are we gonna do now, We're gonna fake it and
- 11:18Speaker 5: we're gonna have an opportunity at a touchdown down the
- 11:21Speaker 5: center of the field, right here, but our quarterback, who
- 11:25Speaker 5: I'm not real high on right now, cannot read how
- 11:28Speaker 5: it's supposed to be. You're supposed to bubble screen. You're
- 11:30Speaker 5: supposed to read the inside receiver first and then to
- 11:33Speaker 5: the outside. This is a touchdown. Those are in complete
- 11:37Speaker 5: pass out out of bounds. So here we go.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Tight hit.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Was big mad too, big mad running right down the field?
- 11:45Speaker 5: Why look at Arkansas just walking around. They don't have
- 11:47Speaker 5: no idea what they're doing. Anyway, there we go. Layane
- 11:52Speaker 5: Kiffin will want to set you up.
- 11:55Speaker 3: He is, He is really good.
- 11:56Speaker 2: It is a big setup guy.
- 11:57Speaker 3: It's a slow play and a lot of time.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Honestly, it's a trait that a lot of coordinators say
- 12:03Speaker 4: they have, but they don't, and they get so excited.
- 12:06Speaker 4: You see it on every level of football. Hell, we
- 12:09Speaker 4: see it in flag football. The you and I coach.
- 12:11Speaker 4: You get a ball play and you're so excited and
- 12:13Speaker 4: it's a new formation and you go out there and
- 12:15Speaker 4: you run it.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Why are you doing that? You didn't set anything up right.
- 12:20Speaker 4: So the new formation that you think is going to
- 12:22Speaker 4: trick them, how's it going to trick them when they
- 12:24Speaker 4: don't know it?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Because first time you've shown it or whatever it might be.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Sure Lane does a really nice job of understanding, Okay,
- 12:31Speaker 4: I'm going to throw this because later on in the game,
- 12:34Speaker 4: it's going to set up this and I'll throw a
- 12:36Speaker 4: four yard slant to be able to get a forty
- 12:38Speaker 4: yard slant later on in the game. And that's why
- 12:40Speaker 4: you have to stay so disciplined. And LSU, for the
- 12:43Speaker 4: most part, outside of I would say two plays this
- 12:48Speaker 4: year touchdown to Louisiantac in a touchdown of Florida, they
- 12:51Speaker 4: got called back for holding, You've been incredibly disciplined, Like
- 12:55Speaker 4: your defensive backs have done exactly whatever the coverage is asking.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Them to do.
- 13:00Speaker 5: And that's what's been impressive about the LSU defense to
- 13:02Speaker 5: date is they're so aggressive, they fly around so much,
- 13:05Speaker 5: they create so much chaos, and you can only do that.
- 13:08Speaker 5: You can only feel confident in doing that as a
- 13:10Speaker 5: defensive coordinator if your guys on the back end are disciplined,
- 13:14Speaker 5: and they have they've shown that. So we got to
- 13:16Speaker 5: be disciplined in all aspects of our defense, and I
- 13:19Speaker 5: have noted doubt that we can. So you got to
- 13:21Speaker 5: be disciplined in the zone read game, the quarterback run game,
- 13:25Speaker 5: and then you got to be disciplined and watch for
- 13:29Speaker 5: the setups, watch for behind the line of scrimmage, and
- 13:32Speaker 5: just don't get don't get complacent in what they're doing.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Don't be like, all right, they keep throwing these screens,
- 13:40Speaker 5: they keep throwing these screens. I'm gonna tamin it. I'm
- 13:41Speaker 5: gonna bust this one up for a tackle for a loss,
- 13:44Speaker 5: and then all of a sudden you get hit with
- 13:45Speaker 5: a fake screen.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Got down the middle.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Blake Miller ins, O the chad.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Did you know that no one has ever said slug
- 13:52Speaker 4: o without immediately explaining that it is a slant then
- 13:55Speaker 4: a go.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It's fair, It's fair. It's so true.
- 14:00Speaker 5: It's kind of like man when they when they latch
- 14:04Speaker 5: and they locked things down on the back of their
- 14:05Speaker 5: truck with a strap that ain't going nowhere, That ain't
- 14:08Speaker 5: going nowhere.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Same thing, yep, she ain't going nowhere.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's very fair.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Oh, just in case you didn't know that, I'm really good.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Just in case I'm sure there's somebody out there that
- 14:26Speaker 4: and heard that before. No, no, but he's right though,
- 14:29Speaker 4: Like immediately it's like slugo route that is a slint
- 14:33Speaker 4: and go and almost is gonna do it, but they're
- 14:37Speaker 4: gonna set it up before they do a great break
- 14:39Speaker 4: down there from Matthew. All right, we'll take a break
- 14:42Speaker 4: and when we come back, Jeff Watson and Will Helmer's

- 16:41Speaker 3: g team.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Go mc crinan and injury Attorneys Gid Gordon dot column
- 16:44Speaker 4: is the website.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Your area code in Louisiana.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Follow about eighty eight eighty eight eighty eight, get Gordon
- 16:48Speaker 4: and get it done. That's anywhere in the state of Louisiana,
- 16:51Speaker 4: and we'll go around the room. Give me a random
- 16:54Speaker 4: city in Louisiana. Laundry, your first, Yeah, you're.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Any There you go, punkin center. All right, well done, Matthews.
- 17:12Speaker 4: There you go anywhere in the state of Louisiana. The
- 17:14Speaker 4: G Team can help you out. Good Gordon dot com.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Get Gordon dot com. Speaking of the G Team, we've
- 17:18Speaker 4: got Jeff Watson and Will Helmer's here with us talk
- 17:22Speaker 4: a little bit about well everything. And I want to
- 17:26Speaker 4: start off saying I thought about y'all and the G
- 17:29Speaker 4: Team the other day because right now currently because obviously
- 17:32Speaker 4: the G Team the nil deals and got Garrett Nessmayer
- 17:35Speaker 4: and everything going on, and you know, bringing players from
- 17:37Speaker 4: the portal they get nil deals. How about this, The
- 17:40Speaker 4: top seven teams in the transfer portal rankings in college
- 17:43Speaker 4: football right now are combined twenty seven and zero. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 4: twenty it's not going anywhere.
- 17:51Speaker 3: That's Jeff.
- 17:52Speaker 4: That's one thousand percent, right, Because like, no matter how
- 17:55Speaker 4: you felt about it or feel about it, it's like
- 17:58Speaker 4: if you don't get on the train, I always say,
- 18:00Speaker 4: you'll be left at the station with your bag in hand,
- 18:02Speaker 4: waving goodbye to it, and so like it is something
- 18:05Speaker 4: like you have to do. And really, as we all know,
- 18:09Speaker 4: like the G Team is somebody that was on the
- 18:11Speaker 4: forefront of that, and it's been in the game as
- 18:13Speaker 4: long as anybody, certainly here in Baton Rouge since the beginning.
- 18:16Speaker 7: Keshon Booty was our first football player.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Yeah, how and then in women's basketball.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and at some point had the whole team, uh yeah, different.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Women's basketball team. We did their entire team, we did
- 18:29Speaker 7: the we've done the entire gymnastics team. A lot of
- 18:33Speaker 7: football players, have some basketball players, and obviously we do
- 18:37Speaker 7: a lot of baseball players too.
- 18:38Speaker 3: That's what we're talking about with Will.
- 18:40Speaker 4: I believe last week it's like we all know that
- 18:42Speaker 4: LSU baseball is, you know, bigger here than it's going
- 18:45Speaker 4: to be in most places. But I have to imagine Will,
- 18:47Speaker 4: like you got friends to play for other SEC teams,
- 18:49Speaker 4: and they're probably like, wait a minute, y'all got y'all
- 18:51Speaker 4: got what y'all get all these NIL deals and you'll
- 18:53Speaker 4: get all these things just because you know, people like
- 18:56Speaker 4: the G team understand what baseball means to Baton Rouge exactly.
- 18:59Speaker 8: I mean, like like y'all said and alluded to, like
- 19:01Speaker 8: NIL is going to create championships now in programs in
- 19:04Speaker 8: the SEC. And and then teams that can pay. You know,
- 19:08Speaker 8: they can win. You know, you're basically paying to win now,
- 19:11Speaker 8: and you know those fans.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Stab the team to South Carolina. He's like, you say,
- 19:19Speaker 5: up an office here in South Carolina. Uh so, Jeff,
- 19:22Speaker 5: you've been kind of on the forefront, right, Yeah, we.
- 19:24Speaker 7: Started it with when, like I said, the Kaishawn kind
- 19:28Speaker 7: of was our first deal.
- 19:29Speaker 5: So how has how has like the the I in
- 19:31Speaker 5: IOL world? Like at first it was kind of the
- 19:33Speaker 5: wild West, right, It's kind of like making the rules
- 19:35Speaker 5: up as we went. But every year it seems to
- 19:38Speaker 5: kind of tighten up a little bit and everybody's starting
- 19:40Speaker 5: to play a little bit by the same rules and everything.
- 19:42Speaker 5: So how has it changed? Like what what's the landscape
- 19:44Speaker 5: of NIL this year compared to past years?
- 19:47Speaker 7: So now, the biggest thing that you have now is
- 19:49Speaker 7: revenue share, which is where.
- 19:51Speaker 2: The actual school is allowed.
- 19:53Speaker 7: To use their revenue to pay players, right, which has
- 19:58Speaker 7: given more a balance to everybody having money. Instead of
- 20:02Speaker 7: just having these Gordons that will come in and do
- 20:05Speaker 7: the third party in il dealers, you actually have the
- 20:07Speaker 7: school that can use some of their revenue and get
- 20:10Speaker 7: more of a playing field. That has also created major
- 20:14Speaker 7: issues in controlling in IL because now we've made it
- 20:18Speaker 7: a free labor market. And there was a federal judge
- 20:21Speaker 7: that just had a decision on the San Diego State
- 20:25Speaker 7: offensive lineman who wanted another year of eligibility, and he
- 20:29Speaker 7: just rolled two days ago, and basically he does a
- 20:32Speaker 7: great analysis of NCAA. You're wrong. This is a labor market.
- 20:37Speaker 7: It's just pay for play. And when you did that,
- 20:39Speaker 7: you can't now control it and you can't tell people
- 20:42Speaker 7: where they can't go, what they can't do. His whole
- 20:45Speaker 7: deal was, I'm missing out on NIO opportunities if you
- 20:47Speaker 7: don't let me play this year. And that's the free market.
- 20:51Speaker 7: And so it's completely changed. Hopefully we'll get to a
- 20:54Speaker 7: point where we have some collective bargaining in a union
- 20:58Speaker 7: type situation.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Time like we had in the NFL.
- 21:01Speaker 7: Yeah, it has cooint and that's what the lawsuits are.
- 21:04Speaker 7: House settlement came down, and then now anyone that tries
- 21:08Speaker 7: to restrict that, a lawsuit will be filed, and then
- 21:12Speaker 7: changes will be made, and eventually Congress will congress and
- 21:17Speaker 7: or NCAA or collect the bargaining in the union. Don't
- 21:19Speaker 7: know how that's going to look lately, later, but that
- 21:23Speaker 7: will happen and get us into a structured environment. So
- 21:26Speaker 7: the NCAA can truly say here's our sandbox. We negotiated
- 21:30Speaker 7: these rules with the players. If you want to play,
- 21:33Speaker 7: this is our rules. Hey, I would say, and will
- 21:35Speaker 7: you know this better than I do?
- 21:36Speaker 4: I would say baseball has been as affected as anybody
- 21:39Speaker 4: because you can be drafted out of high school and
- 21:41Speaker 4: now you're getting players on campus because of nil situations
- 21:46Speaker 4: of like, hey you can actually come here. You got
- 21:48Speaker 4: a little safety net in this nil because before, like
- 21:51Speaker 4: if you got offered a million dollars out of high
- 21:53Speaker 4: school and you didn't sign, you came to school, you
- 21:56Speaker 4: had to go because you you didn't.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Know if you were going to come to school and
- 21:59Speaker 3: be the same player.
- 21:59Speaker 8: I mean, you can get first round money now without
- 22:02Speaker 8: going to the draft and get you get the whole
- 22:04Speaker 8: college experience.
- 22:05Speaker 2: And and why would you not?
- 22:06Speaker 3: I think guys like that, right yeah, I mean cry
- 22:09Speaker 3: right now, Curio Schmidt.
- 22:11Speaker 8: You get all these guys that pile into this program
- 22:14Speaker 8: that could have been you know first, you know, the
- 22:16Speaker 8: first three rounds of the draft, and they're getting the
- 22:18Speaker 8: same money in similar money, you know, to come play
- 22:22Speaker 8: and experienced college.
- 22:24Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 22:25Speaker 4: They're they're not going on a bus ride and random fa.
- 22:30Speaker 8: We're taking we're taking charter flights and Dixie Land buses.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And lu's facilities are not.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And so you're to.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Get better to play for the mud Hens. I don't
- 22:40Speaker 3: know who the mud Hens.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Are, it's just the first definitely a team.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Yeah, So Jeffy, you were talking about like the this
- 22:47Speaker 5: year being a revenue sharing situation, so it's tightening up
- 22:50Speaker 5: the rules. And so now n I L gets to
- 22:53Speaker 5: be you strictly like what it's meant to be name
- 22:56Speaker 5: image likeness, which is kind of what y'all are doing
- 22:58Speaker 5: it exactly. Always out it that way exactly, instead of
- 23:02Speaker 5: like here's a collective, here's this money from this company,
- 23:05Speaker 5: go buy this player. Like now it's name image likeness,
- 23:07Speaker 5: so it can be used perfectly, which is the way
- 23:10Speaker 5: it should be, Like a kid should be able to
- 23:12Speaker 5: make money off of using his image. But I know
- 23:15Speaker 5: there's also like this governing body that looks at making
- 23:19Speaker 5: sure it's fair market value for that work. How is
- 23:22Speaker 5: fair market value judged? And who is actually making that
- 23:25Speaker 5: final determination.
- 23:27Speaker 7: So there's a committee that looks at that and you
- 23:31Speaker 7: nailed it. It's what is fair market value? Loreel or
- 23:35Speaker 7: someone can look at your beard and say that's the
- 23:38Speaker 7: greatest I've ever seen and I want to pay you
- 23:40Speaker 7: a million dollars for it. No one can come and
- 23:43Speaker 7: say no, you can't. Yeah, and that's the problem, is
- 23:47Speaker 7: what So what they've set up is to keep a
- 23:49Speaker 7: quarterback that starts in the SEC kind of on the
- 23:52Speaker 7: same level, a starting running back in the SEC, same level.
- 23:56Speaker 7: But as soon as those deals get rejected, the lawsuits
- 23:58Speaker 7: are gonna come. Yeah, and we're gonna which is what
- 24:01Speaker 7: we want. We want to get closer to structure, right,
- 24:03Speaker 7: And the only way that's gonna happen is if Congress
- 24:06Speaker 7: gets involved or lawsuits are filed, and so fair market value.
- 24:10Speaker 7: They say they don't use fair market value, and then
- 24:12Speaker 7: they have a definition which is literally the definition of
- 24:16Speaker 7: fair market value. Yeah, but they don't want to use
- 24:18Speaker 7: that word. But yes, that's that's a major issue, and
- 24:23Speaker 7: we already had it happened. So a lot of deals
- 24:24Speaker 7: got rejected, big deals, and so the plane of lawyers
- 24:29Speaker 7: in the House Settlement came back and said, well, we're
- 24:32Speaker 7: gonna follow suit on this. We think you can't do that.
- 24:34Speaker 7: And so they redid the rules and say, okay, COLLECTI
- 24:37Speaker 7: if you're back in play, but you got to make
- 24:39Speaker 7: them do something. Sign autographs, show up at golf tournaments.
- 24:42Speaker 7: They can do something. And yeah, before it was nothing.
- 24:44Speaker 7: It was just a collective given.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Money Leonard situation. Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Sure, all right, So whenever you're trying to okay, we're
- 24:54Speaker 4: gonna have these athletes, we want them on the g team.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Like Smyers probably pretty obvious he's a quarterback of LSU,
- 24:59Speaker 4: But like, what are maybe those conversations like like, who's
- 25:02Speaker 4: somebody that we want to work with? Because you want
- 25:03Speaker 4: to make sure that you're partnering with people, Like do
- 25:05Speaker 4: you lean on somebody like like Will obviously like he's
- 25:08Speaker 4: not playing anymore, but he's got great relationships over there, Like, hey,
- 25:10Speaker 4: tell me a little bit about this guy, because you
- 25:12Speaker 4: want to make sure you have.
- 25:12Speaker 3: The right people representing your company.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 25:15Speaker 7: We have a team on marketing team that Chloe and
- 25:19Speaker 7: Alex and they work on that and they will do
- 25:22Speaker 7: a scrub and they're gonna look at all the social
- 25:24Speaker 7: media and they're gonna find out everything they can about them, right,
- 25:26Speaker 7: and then Gordon's gonna interview them. Yeah, and he's gonna
- 25:29Speaker 7: sit down in front of him and gonna ask him
- 25:30Speaker 7: what do you like? Tell me, you know, and he's
- 25:32Speaker 7: gonna go through it all. And we kind of go
- 25:34Speaker 7: through a process of players that we want, Are they available?
- 25:37Speaker 7: Is it someone that we can put on the team,
- 25:39Speaker 7: And that's kind of how it falls down, and we
- 25:42Speaker 7: get to our team.
- 25:44Speaker 5: If I was twenty years younger, yeah, we got would
- 25:48Speaker 5: you think I'd be invited to be on the G team?
- 25:49Speaker 2: And how many billboards would it be?
- 25:51Speaker 7: So you from Texas, our goal, My goal is always
- 25:54Speaker 7: starting quarterback. And I had this conversation with Marlon whatever
- 26:00Speaker 7: somebody podcast with him and he wanted to know his
- 26:03Speaker 7: NIL evaluation.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And so.
- 26:06Speaker 7: From Matt, of course big fav one Matt would be
- 26:10Speaker 7: I mean, just like Marlon, he would be starting quarterback
- 26:13Speaker 7: on a highly ranked team. He would be in the
- 26:16Speaker 7: seven figures easily on his rev share plus three buckets.
- 26:20Speaker 7: You got your rev share, your scholarship right and your
- 26:23Speaker 7: third party in io deals and so L s U
- 26:25Speaker 7: and nil. They would set him up with you know,
- 26:28Speaker 7: Canes and Jewel Forden and like they would set him
- 26:31Speaker 7: up with some third party in io deals and.
- 26:33Speaker 5: So you just talked about earlier, Like now that it's
- 26:36Speaker 5: pay for play, it's gonna be hard to tell me.
- 26:39Speaker 5: I don't have eligibility left, so can I go back?
- 26:42Speaker 3: Well, you read shirted your out. I didn't.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I suffered through COVID year though.
- 26:50Speaker 3: You were thirty five. I think that when that happened.
- 26:53Speaker 4: So you're telling me my wife would not have had
- 26:56Speaker 4: to drop out of school and get a full time
- 26:59Speaker 4: job because our doolllarship check didn't cover half our rent
- 27:02Speaker 4: back in two thousand and seven, Like we'd have done.
- 27:04Speaker 7: Okay, your personality and you would have fit so many
- 27:09Speaker 7: companies out there, Jacob, you would have you would have
- 27:12Speaker 7: done very well.
- 27:13Speaker 3: You would have little too early more a little too early.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It's okay, wasn't your fault.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yeah, we're glad that, you know, because we'll you got
- 27:20Speaker 4: into the back end because you started college.
- 27:22Speaker 8: So I started. Yeah, my sophomore year. At the end
- 27:25Speaker 8: of my sophomore year is when it really kind of
- 27:27Speaker 8: took shape and there no rules, you know, and it
- 27:30Speaker 8: was it was a free for all, and so you had,
- 27:32Speaker 8: you know, all these different athletes and whatever they wanted
- 27:35Speaker 8: for whatever. Yeah, and so now that there's a little
- 27:37Speaker 8: bit of structure to it and a little more you know,
- 27:40Speaker 8: you know there's rules, right, you know that you know
- 27:42Speaker 8: LSU has to follow, that players have to follow, that
- 27:45Speaker 8: small businesses, businesses have to follow like Gordon, and in
- 27:48Speaker 8: order to pay these players, it's you know, taking shape
- 27:51Speaker 8: and like we said earlier, it's not going anywhere, and so.
- 27:56Speaker 2: You know, get used to it.
- 27:56Speaker 4: How exciting How exciting was it though when you were
- 27:59Speaker 4: in the locker room them and all of a sudden
- 28:00Speaker 4: you're like, wait, we can do what we can. We
- 28:04Speaker 4: can make money off our name, image and likeness. Like
- 28:06Speaker 4: what was that moment?
- 28:07Speaker 8: Like, well, for me it wasn't you know great, I was,
- 28:10Speaker 8: But for a lot of guys, you know, that was awesome. Yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 8: you know, and for all athletes at LSU, because you know,
- 28:16Speaker 8: it's your name, image and likeness and you put.
- 28:18Speaker 4: It on l She does a really good job of
- 28:20Speaker 4: embracing it and putting out Think about the LSU brand
- 28:23Speaker 4: in itself, you know, as soon as you commit and
- 28:25Speaker 4: you play for LSU, you're part of that brand no
- 28:28Speaker 4: matter what.
- 28:29Speaker 8: And so you know, having the opportunity to you know,
- 28:31Speaker 8: link yourself with that brand and your name, image and likeness,
- 28:35Speaker 8: it's huge.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Let me ask you this from a from from the
- 28:39Speaker 5: business owner's perspective, Like I know, a lot of it
- 28:43Speaker 5: is because a business owner might love the university, love
- 28:46Speaker 5: the players, and want to contribute to that. But a
- 28:49Speaker 5: lot of companies they're doing it to get their company's
- 28:52Speaker 5: name out there to bring in extra revenue.
- 28:54Speaker 2: And I would say that's the goal for all of it.
- 28:56Speaker 5: But is there analytics out there yet because it's still
- 29:01Speaker 5: so early, Like what the return on investment is for
- 29:05Speaker 5: business owners.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 29:08Speaker 7: And I think aligning yourself with ls people have always
- 29:11Speaker 7: aligned themselves with LSU and tried to but now being
- 29:14Speaker 7: able to align yourself with a player is just even
- 29:17Speaker 7: more me People have a favorite player for sure, and
- 29:19Speaker 7: if they're deciding am I going to go here or here?
- 29:21Speaker 7: And like ooh, I saw him doing something with you know,
- 29:24Speaker 7: Aaron Anderson might be you know or nus Meyer. You
- 29:27Speaker 7: know that to be able to evaluate that, it's tough.
- 29:31Speaker 7: I know in our world because our marketing personal injury
- 29:35Speaker 7: is more of the commercials in the billboards and stuff,
- 29:37Speaker 7: so it's probably not our best return of investment. But
- 29:41Speaker 7: Gordon's whole deal is number one, I want to support LSU,
- 29:44Speaker 7: but two, I want to promote these kids and push
- 29:47Speaker 7: these kids and promote these kids, and hopefully they'll get
- 29:49Speaker 7: more deals. And if they go up in their name,
- 29:52Speaker 7: image and likeness, then we go up along with them.
- 29:55Speaker 7: And that's kind of been our attitude and kind of
- 29:57Speaker 7: the way we look at it. Why we do the
- 29:59Speaker 7: research that we do to make sure that we're aligning
- 30:01Speaker 7: ourselves with the proper fits.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Yeah, and it is certainly I appreciated seeing all those
- 30:07Speaker 4: LSU athletes on all the different advertisement that y'all do there.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Jeff Will, We appreciate y'all. Man, Thank y'all for coming in.
- 30:14Speaker 7: Having good Thanks for having us.
- 30:15Speaker 4: All right, more OTB reminder, we do have NFL Hall
- 30:19Speaker 4: of Famer Patrick willis joining us in about an hour
- 30:22Speaker 4: from now, so stay locked in for that. We'll be
- 30:24Speaker 4: back with more. Off the bench. Off the bench, all right,

- 30:56Speaker 5: Russell Pools should be the name you think of, So

- 31:04Speaker 2: They are doing a great job. So if you want
- 31:07Speaker 2: to build.

- 32:08Speaker 3: I can't play.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven. You're
- 32:16Speaker 1: listening to Off the Bench.
- 32:22Speaker 7: And my heart seeking Mack say so.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Saying, Matthew, how does that feel? Somebody telling you you
- 32:37Speaker 4: would have made seven pigres?
- 32:43Speaker 3: Uh?
- 32:44Speaker 4: You would have had two iPhones on your belt loop
- 32:46Speaker 4: if that was the case, not just one.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I had a just a bigger belt loop. I was flattered.
- 32:54Speaker 2: That had been fun. Oh man, somebody said I would
- 32:58Speaker 2: have made a ton.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Uh yeah, Bilbo, you're right. The amount of Tyron Matthew
- 33:05Speaker 4: missed out on the Honey Badger shirts that just Bingles
- 33:07Speaker 4: Abandons alone would have sold is insane.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Flinny raking in the dough from the no Show ankle
- 33:14Speaker 5: socks endorsement.
- 33:18Speaker 4: I wear no show ankle socks. It's our age. I
- 33:20Speaker 4: get it. I know it's our age.
- 33:22Speaker 2: These are shows.
- 33:23Speaker 3: These are the I wear shows.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Yeah, both the ark I got black no show?
- 33:31Speaker 2: What's no show?
- 33:32Speaker 4: I ain't wearing a mid calf sock. What am I
- 33:35Speaker 4: the basic creative player on n C double.
- 33:37Speaker 6: As all the time? Hey?
- 33:42Speaker 2: Why do I work these calves out?
- 33:44Speaker 3: Hide them? You don't hide that light under a bush.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I don't like with myself. It is weird.
- 33:48Speaker 5: It was first time I heard it, like probably two
- 33:51Speaker 5: three months ago. It's almost say, you're really showing your
- 33:53Speaker 5: age with those no shows.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Yeah, why are people showing their socks?
- 33:58Speaker 10: Be honest, I don't know who told you that. Everybody
- 34:01Speaker 10: my age wears.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Everybody who doesn't, everybody twenty and under mid calf.
- 34:07Speaker 3: That's so weird.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It's like the starting like the crossfits.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Wear, like the Nike elites.
- 34:13Speaker 6: I mean, I guess, yeah, I guess sometimes I wear
- 34:17Speaker 6: long socks, but like usually I wear no shows. I
- 34:19Speaker 6: don't think if I'm working out, like maybe like.
- 34:22Speaker 10: If I'm wearing a suit, right, I was gonna say
- 34:25Speaker 10: the only long socks I own.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Or dress socks.
- 34:27Speaker 5: So growing up it was like, yeah, mid calf, gold toes,
- 34:34Speaker 5: the gold have gold toe socks. You got like thirty
- 34:39Speaker 5: nine socks in one bag. And then when the like
- 34:43Speaker 5: the only no shows were like golf socks and they
- 34:46Speaker 5: had like the little the rolled up like little thing
- 34:48Speaker 5: on the back on the back of you. And then
- 34:50Speaker 5: when they started to become popular, the nose shows. It
- 34:52Speaker 5: was life altering. Yeah, it was a game changer. So like,
- 34:56Speaker 5: don't you take that away from it?
- 34:57Speaker 6: Why do I want to wear vands with like my
- 34:59Speaker 6: socks peaking?
- 35:00Speaker 3: Now?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes no sense. That's a bad look. I
- 35:02Speaker 2: just good. I got high tops with my socks.
- 35:09Speaker 5: Look at that clear definition, that clear definition, you could
- 35:13Speaker 5: clearly see where the calf starts in the ankle.
- 35:16Speaker 6: You're not even wearing no shows.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Yeah you're not.
- 35:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I'm not wearing today, but leg
- 35:22Speaker 2: talking about it.
- 35:23Speaker 3: So if you're not really in the gang, I only
- 35:25Speaker 3: wear no shows, well you kind of oppose it.
- 35:27Speaker 5: If I wear high tops, I wear higher socks, makes sense,
- 35:31Speaker 5: makes sense to me.
- 35:32Speaker 2: If I wear low shoes, I wear no shoes.
- 35:35Speaker 10: It's it's weird these little, these little black no shows
- 35:37Speaker 10: I wear. I wear those with my boots.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Like, yeah, me too, even when even when I'm wearing
- 35:43Speaker 4: boots I wear.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Maybe my ankles are too big, it just rubs up
- 35:47Speaker 2: against them. But I don't want that skin to shoot friction.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I won't.
- 35:52Speaker 6: I won't say that I have.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Like start a fire with those ankles.
- 35:56Speaker 6: I wouldn't say I have full on kinkles. But my
- 35:58Speaker 6: ankles can't be a little thick.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I'm not saying. But I cannot confirm or deny.
- 36:07Speaker 10: I can see Matt wearing boots like reaching down. What's
- 36:09Speaker 10: the problem these boots are giving me rug burn.
- 36:13Speaker 2: They do, I think gold bond from my ankles. Little
- 36:20Speaker 2: little chase down.
- 36:21Speaker 5: The Oh my gosh, that's good clean fun, good clean fun,
- 36:27Speaker 5: good clean fun.
- 36:29Speaker 2: AnyWho, what's happening in sports this weekend?
- 36:32Speaker 4: I'll tell you a little bit after I tell you

- 36:56Speaker 4: now add Rouses or you can order them online dot
- 37:00Speaker 4: com ls Shoe Snacks where every bite supports l S.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Hue Go Tigers. By the way, for going to Rouses
- 37:06Speaker 4: on Bourbank, I know where they're at. They're right by
- 37:08Speaker 4: the checkout counter. We saw those last week. We'll be
- 37:10Speaker 4: there by the way. Oh let's see we did.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:13Speaker 4: What's going on in sports this weekend is a lot
- 37:15Speaker 4: ooh lots I don't know what's going to be the
- 37:18Speaker 4: game of the week, but damn it, one of these
- 37:20Speaker 4: games better live up to what I think it's going
- 37:22Speaker 4: to be. I think the leader in the clubhouse to
- 37:24Speaker 4: live up to it would be the obvious three versus six,
- 37:27Speaker 4: Penn State versus Oregon in a whiteout situation in Happy Valley.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I think both those teams are good. I don't know
- 37:35Speaker 4: if they're great, and maybe we'll find out if one
- 37:38Speaker 4: of them is great on Saturday, So that one's hard
- 37:40Speaker 4: to get away from for me.
- 37:42Speaker 2: It's a big one. It's a big boy like.
- 37:43Speaker 4: There it's three versus six, but it very easily could
- 37:46Speaker 4: be two versus three or two versus four.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Like, there's not a lot of difference in the top
- 37:50Speaker 2: six teams.
- 37:51Speaker 10: It's not ranked on rank, but I think A and
- 37:55Speaker 10: m Alvern it's going to be a really good game.
- 37:58Speaker 10: It's a college station, yeah, it's it's a two thirty,
- 38:01Speaker 10: so it's it's head to head with LSU will miss,
- 38:03Speaker 10: so we won't be watching a ton of it.
- 38:04Speaker 2: But that's got a chance to be a really good one.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Where is uh?
- 38:10Speaker 3: We're gaming to see that game being plunky game?
- 38:13Speaker 7: Damn?
- 38:14Speaker 2: How are they not at all, Miss.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Oran, Oh yeah, Organan say yeah, yeah, it's three or six.
- 38:22Speaker 4: Wonder if they'll go, I wonder if they'll go, Oh
- 38:25Speaker 4: we got Alcaim, we got Alabama.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Georgia forgot like we get this sweet with a lot
- 38:30Speaker 5: of answers in that game.
- 38:31Speaker 6: Answers, they're not that intrigued by it.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Really, No, it's not really.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Doing much for me for what reason, And that's.
- 38:38Speaker 6: Not honestly, Alabama itself is not doing a lot for
- 38:42Speaker 6: me this season. I know they're ranged number seventeen, but
- 38:45Speaker 6: I just it doesn't have like the physicality and just
- 38:49Speaker 6: like the excitement that it used to have.
- 38:52Speaker 5: And I.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Look so nice soft to me. I don't know, like
- 38:58Speaker 6: I don't really know if he is or not, but
- 39:00Speaker 6: the vibe that he gives me, I just I'm not
- 39:03Speaker 6: intrigued by Alabama.
- 39:06Speaker 4: I yeah, I kind of understand what you're saying. The
- 39:08Speaker 4: old thing, to Matt's point, that would intrigue me with
- 39:11Speaker 4: this game is to see where Alabama is. Because it's
- 39:15Speaker 4: so funny how this works, and it happens all the
- 39:17Speaker 4: time certainly in our business. We just we overreact to everything.
- 39:20Speaker 4: So they lose to Florida State, and we're like done,
- 39:23Speaker 4: and then you know, Matt does the bab's parting and
- 39:26Speaker 4: like everybody right, and so like like everybody kind of
- 39:28Speaker 4: piled on. And then they go beat ULM Louis Monroe
- 39:32Speaker 4: seventy three to nothing. Look, ULLM is actually much better
- 39:35Speaker 4: this year. But Alabama's always gonna win that game. And
- 39:37Speaker 4: they had a point to prove in that game. They
- 39:39Speaker 4: were gonna try to score as many as they could. Well,
- 39:41Speaker 4: then they come back and they beat Wisconsin thirty eight
- 39:42Speaker 4: to fourteen, and we're like, oh man, they beat a
- 39:45Speaker 4: Big ten team.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Wisconsin's terrible. Wisconsain's a bad football team.
- 39:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 4: So it's like we were high, high high, then we
- 39:51Speaker 4: got real low, then we got high again. It's like,
- 39:53Speaker 4: should we be that high or we should we be
- 39:54Speaker 4: somewhere in the middle. I think we should be somewhere
- 39:56Speaker 4: in the middle. But to your point of Landra, like
- 39:58Speaker 4: there's not a lot of intrigue into the game outside
- 40:01Speaker 4: of where is Alabama from. Yeah, I think it's gonna
- 40:03Speaker 4: be right.
- 40:05Speaker 6: I just think that like we, like Matt said, and
- 40:08Speaker 6: like you just said, we're gonna get answers about who
- 40:11Speaker 6: Alabama is from this game. But them like, I'm just
- 40:15Speaker 6: not into it. But Georgia is always always fun to watch,
- 40:20Speaker 6: so like that part of it, sure, but I'm.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Just like that has been kryptonid. I guess a little
- 40:24Speaker 4: bit for Kirby, he's only beating Bama one.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's my thing.
- 40:27Speaker 10: I think this is gonna tell us who Georgia is
- 40:28Speaker 10: a Georgia correct, I think we know. I kind of
- 40:31Speaker 10: think we know who Alabama is. Their team that's gonna
- 40:34Speaker 10: beat up on the small ones. And again, I understand
- 40:36Speaker 10: they didn't play well against Florida Tody Simpson five incompletions
- 40:40Speaker 10: in two games. It's hard to do against anybody, but again,
- 40:43Speaker 10: look at the competition. But Georgia has not been able
- 40:45Speaker 10: to get over the Alabama home for whatever reason. They
- 40:48Speaker 10: did they did one time under Kirby. Outside of that,
- 40:52Speaker 10: he's he struggled against the Bama Like, this is gonna
- 40:54Speaker 10: tell us a lot about Georgia.
- 40:56Speaker 5: It's a line to your point, Andra, like the lack
- 41:01Speaker 5: of juice coming from the Alabama program right now for
- 41:03Speaker 5: whatever reason, right or wrong, that's how we feel about it.
- 41:07Speaker 5: I hadn't watched a snap of Alabama football. Like I
- 41:11Speaker 5: told you, I got five games going on at once.
- 41:14Speaker 6: The line is Uga minus three and a half.
- 41:17Speaker 4: The so almost almost to pick them since in Athens,
- 41:21Speaker 4: I mean getting home bombed.
- 41:23Speaker 10: The Boar almost looks depressed, like borderline tears.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Whenever they're losing.
- 41:28Speaker 10: It's like it's like there's there's not a lot of
- 41:29Speaker 10: juice from him. And I think he's a good coach,
- 41:31Speaker 10: but there is just something missing about it.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But I'm actually intrigued.
- 41:36Speaker 10: Just because of the the Georgia aspect, Like I think
- 41:39Speaker 10: they're really good and again, how good is Alabama? But
- 41:42Speaker 10: if they could at least get over that hump, I
- 41:44Speaker 10: think that tells us a lot about them.
- 41:47Speaker 4: I think we just talked to ourselves into being excited
- 41:49Speaker 4: about the game that we weren't that excited about.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Look at us, not me, not I.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Now I don't know how much of I'm going to watch.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I have more in the night game.
- 42:02Speaker 3: You can't watch it it is, but it goes up
- 42:04Speaker 3: against the air. I'll be watching on the plane. That
- 42:07Speaker 3: is always fun. After LSU wins.
- 42:09Speaker 4: It is always fun to watch whatever the game of
- 42:11Speaker 4: the week is if you have like the two thirty game,
- 42:13Speaker 4: So I'll be watching it in the air. That's not
- 42:15Speaker 4: a quick or sorry, it is a quick. It's not
- 42:17Speaker 4: a long plane ride, but I'll watch it in the air.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Do we think Gunnar Stockton is an elite quarterback in
- 42:22Speaker 5: the n think it's a good?
- 42:25Speaker 3: Solid solid solid?
- 42:27Speaker 2: Is a solid? Eight seven is seven h seven good?
- 42:32Speaker 4: And if the lights are off at the bar, it's
- 42:34Speaker 4: two thirty, he might be an eight. It's beer goggles
- 42:45Speaker 4: just saying on that note, will take a break. We've
- 42:49Speaker 4: got chef Michael Johnson joining us at nine fifteen. We've
- 42:52Speaker 4: got NFL Hall of Famer former old Miss Rebel Patrick
- 42:55Speaker 4: Willis at nine thirty.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Stay locked in here. It is oh t.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Be awesome A bench.
- 43:02Speaker 2: All right?
- 43:02Speaker 4: Go to gcop net dot com gc op net dot
- 43:06Speaker 4: com Golf Coast Office Products saying if you right now
- 43:10Speaker 4: right a business that look you when you need a

- 43:20Speaker 4: all of your printer system working and making sure it's
- 43:23Speaker 4: working efficiently and getting you know done, Like you're talking
- 43:25Speaker 4: about law office or a university, or are you work
- 43:28Speaker 4: in finance or you work at a bank, like whatever
- 43:30Speaker 4: the situation might be. You know what I'm talking about
- 43:32Speaker 4: and so when you get in contact with them, like
- 43:34Speaker 4: you're going to talk to the person that's going to
- 43:36Speaker 4: actually help you, not transfer you, not a robot, and
- 43:39Speaker 4: the person that's going to help you. And that's why
- 43:41Speaker 4: they're trusted by LSU, the same Sepelicans Raging Cagent.
- 43:44Speaker 3: It's really everyone in Louisiana. Gcop net dot com.
- 43:46Speaker 2: It's right Gulf Coast Office Products.
- 43:48Speaker 5: They are Louisiana's leader and printing and copy in your

- 43:58Speaker 5: need to fix or help your off.
- 44:00Speaker 9: Let's go to gcop net dot com.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Locked in on l s U football twenty four to seven.
- 44:15Speaker 1: You're listening to off the Bench.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Maybe who's gonna rod?
- 44:38Speaker 3: All right, welcome back?
- 44:39Speaker 4: Yeah it is oh t B here on this Thursday morning.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Talked about a couple of games going on across the
- 44:46Speaker 4: college football landscape in the last segment.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Too.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Sleepy games, sleeping going under the radar a little bit.
- 44:55Speaker 4: On Friday, Tatan mentioned I think it was a TCU
- 44:58Speaker 4: in Arizona State. That's gonna be that's gonna be a
- 45:00Speaker 4: fun game. I think TCU is actually really, really good.
- 45:03Speaker 10: Now his favorite furry has eleven touchdowns.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Very good.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Any furry updates from him, It wouldn't. I don't think
- 45:10Speaker 2: it was true.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Unfortunately, got a thousand yards on the year already. Arizona
- 45:15Speaker 4: State I think lost to it. Mississippi State team is
- 45:17Speaker 4: gonna prove that they're.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Actually a good football team, Jeff Levy.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Then you've got Florida State traveling to UVA. Now Virginia's
- 45:25Speaker 4: three and one, they should be four and oh, Chandler
- 45:28Speaker 4: Morris mits a wide open guy in the last drive
- 45:31Speaker 4: of the game. If he throws it, they score, they win.
- 45:34Speaker 3: They should be four and oh.
- 45:36Speaker 4: There's three and one though, and Chandler Morris has thrown
- 45:38Speaker 4: for over a thousand yards already in this season. Florida
- 45:42Speaker 4: State's only a six and a half point favorite. Those
- 45:45Speaker 4: are two ranked teams going on the road against teams
- 45:48Speaker 4: that are very dangerous for them. So we get a
- 45:50Speaker 4: little bit of action on a Friday night.
- 45:52Speaker 6: I like that TCU Arizona State game.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Levin versus Hoover. I mean, that's that's a big dumb.
- 45:58Speaker 4: It's gonna be a fun one. We got a fun hour.
