- 0:12Speaker 1: Astro's closer, Josh Hater, has arrived back on FT.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Josh, good to see you. Man. Has the season treating you?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Hey good, We're healthy. That's the biggest thing. Good to
- 0:21Speaker 3: see you, guys. Thanks for having me on here. Of course, dude,
- 0:24Speaker 3: to take me through it. Yeah, of course health is
- 0:27Speaker 3: number one for you. How has the rollercoaster ride.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Been for the team this season?
- 0:32Speaker 1: In I think what's been what anyone could call an
- 0:35Speaker 1: unpredictable season right the way, especially the AL is shaking out.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we've been up and down. I think
- 0:41Speaker 3: that's obviously you can see that when you watch games.
- 0:43Speaker 3: But we were trying to figure out ways to win
- 0:46Speaker 3: and ultimately that's all you can do throughout this season.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Being in our division, as you know, it's a tight race.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I mean there's not one team that's taken taking it
- 0:58Speaker 3: away in the AL, I would say, besides the East,
- 1:00Speaker 3: I would say, that's probably like the only division that's
- 1:02Speaker 3: like set and not even set in stone. But it's
- 1:05Speaker 3: like you got some guys or teams that are doing well.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But for us, I mean it's a tight race. I
- 1:11Speaker 3: mean we're two games up and I think as long
- 1:14Speaker 3: as we continue to figure out ways to win and
- 1:17Speaker 3: take it day by day. I think we're gonna you know,
- 1:19Speaker 3: look up and hopefully be in a good position.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Hey buddy, good to see you again.
- 1:26Speaker 5: How difficult was the beginning of the year, not being
- 1:28Speaker 5: able to be healthy and start with your guys and
- 1:31Speaker 5: especially them not getting off to a good start. But
- 1:33Speaker 5: how thankful are you that you really took your time
- 1:36Speaker 5: made sure you were healthy before you got back, because
- 1:38Speaker 5: you're back being as dominant as ever.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Good to see you too, brother.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I would say, you know, the the biggest thing obviously
- 1:46Speaker 3: as a competitor, you want to be out there with
- 1:47Speaker 3: the team. I mean, ultimately, if you're on the sideline
- 1:50Speaker 3: and not being able to contribute, that's probably one of
- 1:53Speaker 3: the worst feelings. But for me, it was what can
- 1:57Speaker 3: I do to be right and when I come back,
- 1:59Speaker 3: how can I stay and sustain the rest of the season,
- 2:04Speaker 3: because you know, for me, that was my first time
- 2:08Speaker 3: I've ever really been on the I L and kind
- 2:11Speaker 3: of pairing those back to back for the end of
- 2:13Speaker 3: the season. Then the beginning of this season, it was like, man,
- 2:16Speaker 3: I really gotta, you know, get this right. But once
- 2:20Speaker 3: I felt like I was in a good spot, and
- 2:21Speaker 3: I was able to, uh, you know, get the more
- 2:24Speaker 3: reps of you know, up downs and back to backs
- 2:29Speaker 3: and just getting that recovery for my tissue. Once I
- 2:33Speaker 3: felt like I was good and strong. I think that
- 2:35Speaker 3: was ultimately where I was like, all right, this is
- 2:38Speaker 3: gonna We're in a good spot. Let's let's keep moving
- 2:40Speaker 3: on and you know, we'll figure it out throughout the season.
- 2:44Speaker 6: You've stayed tremendously healthy through your career. When that when
- 2:48Speaker 6: that crept up last year, were you like how long
- 2:52Speaker 6: were you like I got to pitch through this, Like
- 2:54Speaker 6: no way, this is this is anything out of the normal?
- 2:57Speaker 6: Or was it like no way, I can't I go
- 3:00Speaker 6: any farther than today.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Honestly it was it was right after, right around the
- 3:06Speaker 3: last game in New York, and I was getting warmed up,
- 3:10Speaker 3: and it was like I felt something odd and I
- 3:12Speaker 3: was like, man, it feels like my subscap needs to
- 3:14Speaker 3: be released, and I'm like, I'm gonna push through it.
- 3:17Speaker 3: We ended up scoring I think three or four runs
- 3:21Speaker 3: on that Sunday game, so I didn't have to come in.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I was actually worn up in the eighth to come in.
- 3:27Speaker 3: We got out of it, warmed up again in the
- 3:29Speaker 3: ninth we ended up popping a couple of runs and
- 3:31Speaker 3: I'm like, I go back in. I'm like, dog, thank you,
- 3:34Speaker 3: Like I appreciate y'all because I don't know, I would
- 3:36Speaker 3: have probably been throwing eighty. But like I said, as
- 3:40Speaker 3: a competitor, you got to figure it out. But after
- 3:43Speaker 3: that that night, I came back in Monday and I'm like, yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 3: something doesn't doesn't seem right to me, and wanted to
- 3:49Speaker 3: get it all checked out. And that's kind of where
- 3:52Speaker 3: we came with the capsule.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I do want to ask you a question. I
- 3:56Speaker 5: know you don't have a ton of experience because you've
- 3:58Speaker 5: been mostly healthy in your queer, But sometimes we make
- 4:01Speaker 5: this judgment on guys, especially closers that are coming back
- 4:04Speaker 5: from a rehab and you know they're getting hit around.
- 4:07Speaker 5: How difficult it is it to pitch on a rehab assignment,
- 4:11Speaker 5: especially as a closer, when you're normal, You're you're used
- 4:14Speaker 5: to coming in to the game at the biggest moment,
- 4:16Speaker 5: all this adrenaline, the games on the line. How difficult
- 4:19Speaker 5: is it to just kind of check those boxes in
- 4:22Speaker 5: triple A or double A.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I would think ultimately it's the adrenaline rush. Right,
- 4:27Speaker 3: you're not getting at adrenaline rush that you would in
- 4:29Speaker 3: a big league game. But at the same time, for me,
- 4:33Speaker 3: it was how's my fastball lines? How are my slider lines?
- 4:37Speaker 3: Like in double A, I gave up a homer for
- 4:40Speaker 3: with a fastball up, and I'm like, well, that's going
- 4:43Speaker 3: to happen. But I know that if I'm going to
- 4:46Speaker 3: continue to drill this spot, it's going to be beneficial
- 4:49Speaker 3: for me in the long run. Like I'm not really
- 4:50Speaker 3: paying attention too much to the results, but of how
- 4:53Speaker 3: am I executing these pitches. And I realized that that
- 4:57Speaker 3: specific pitch to the fastball didn't get to the inside
- 5:00Speaker 3: out of the plate. So now that next outing, I'm like,
- 5:02Speaker 3: all right, I'm only going to throw to the inside
- 5:04Speaker 3: of this this plate, whether it's up or down, like
- 5:06Speaker 3: this is where I'm staying. And then from there I
- 5:09Speaker 3: work the slider off of that, and then I just
- 5:11Speaker 3: try and figure out where I need to be. And
- 5:16Speaker 3: then you know, if I give up three home runs,
- 5:20Speaker 3: like ultimately, if I'm making my pitches great, like that's
- 5:24Speaker 3: all I need to do and all I need to see,
- 5:26Speaker 3: and if I can command the command the zone and
- 5:29Speaker 3: be able to expand the zone. Yeah, that's gonna sit
- 5:32Speaker 3: you right where you need to be. Then you add
- 5:34Speaker 3: the adrenaline when you get to the big leagues, and
- 5:35Speaker 3: then it's like, all right, well I already know my
- 5:37Speaker 3: lines and I know where I need to be. So
- 5:41Speaker 3: add that adrenaline. You're gonna hopefully get a little uptick
- 5:43Speaker 3: and you know, be right where you need to be.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I mean, obviously that's not always the case, but you know,
- 5:50Speaker 3: you just like spring training, you want to put yourself
- 5:52Speaker 3: in a good position when you start the season.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Hey, for those of you that are on your phone,
- 5:57Speaker 1: it's very often, or even if you don't use it much,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you should check out your wireless bill and make sure
- 6:02Speaker 1: that it is treating you well. It's summertime. You're feeling good, right,
- 6:06Speaker 1: aj But are you spending too much on your wireless bill?

- 6:56Speaker 7: Brother, it's been nine years since you've been to the bushes?
- 6:59Speaker 6: How much has how much is Minor League Baseball changed
- 7:03Speaker 6: since you were there? I think did you play in
- 7:06Speaker 6: Colorado Springs? Was that where they were? Were they in Nashville?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:09Speaker 4: Colorado Springs? Yeah? How much do you play well?
- 7:14Speaker 3: I mean they got better food now, I mean I
- 7:16Speaker 3: was in Double A and I'm like, man, they got
- 7:18Speaker 3: some good spreads and they got a dietitian. She's whipping
- 7:21Speaker 3: up you know, shakes and stuff like that. So I'm like, man, like,
- 7:25Speaker 3: good for them, Like that's what we want ultimately, Like
- 7:27Speaker 3: we want every level to you know, have that. And
- 7:31Speaker 3: obviously that's what we fight for for the next generation,
- 7:34Speaker 3: is to you know, be better than what we had.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I mean, obviously we got them housing and paid more.
- 7:40Speaker 3: So it's like for us, we were sleeping with six
- 7:43Speaker 3: guys in the living room, and it's like that's just
- 7:45Speaker 3: what you had to do to make it by And
- 7:47Speaker 3: you know, obviously those stories are fun, but at the
- 7:50Speaker 3: same time, like you don't want a guy trying to
- 7:53Speaker 3: make it to the big leagues grinding like that.
- 7:55Speaker 4: But I mean it's also part of it.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely, definitely, like it's fun stories, but you didn't
- 8:02Speaker 6: need to talk about somebody sleeping on an air mattress
- 8:05Speaker 6: with five other dudes in the same apartment. But so
- 8:09Speaker 6: the question always is for me when dudes rehabbing, I
- 8:12Speaker 6: think he threw nine games. Did you go five in
- 8:15Speaker 6: double A, five and four and triple A something like that?
- 8:19Speaker 4: Couldn't tell you it wasn't keeping track.
- 8:21Speaker 7: Okay, but you were down there for a little bit.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Did you did you get the boys?
- 8:26Speaker 7: What's what's the play Now? You don't buy the boys spread?
- 8:30Speaker 6: The boys already got good food, by your record, So
- 8:33Speaker 6: what do you what do you get them?
- 8:34Speaker 7: You got them a good I got them.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I got them some sushi.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Uh. In Double A, we got sushi, we got fried rice.
- 8:41Speaker 3: All that that jazz hooked them up. I mean I
- 8:44Speaker 3: was there for two weeks.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Uh so that was nice.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And then when we were in Triple A, I got
- 8:50Speaker 3: there's a steakhouse up the road, got some fat steaks,
- 8:54Speaker 3: probably one of my favorite sikes that I've had in
- 8:56Speaker 3: a spread.
- 8:57Speaker 4: But you know, did it did it big? Like that?
- 8:59Speaker 3: I mean, dude, they're they're you know, taking care of
- 9:02Speaker 3: me and and you know, just treating me, treating me well.
- 9:05Speaker 3: So that's the least I can do. And you know,
- 9:08Speaker 3: I feel like you can't. That's just like a tradition,
- 9:11Speaker 3: like when you when you come down, you rehab, you
- 9:13Speaker 3: take care of the people, and you know, that's ultimately
- 9:16Speaker 3: what I was passed down to. So I felt like
- 9:19Speaker 3: it was it was my time to pay it forward.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I get that.
- 9:24Speaker 6: I get that, But now you're just paying for the
- 9:27Speaker 6: spreads that the teams aren't going to pay for.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So nah, no, nah, man, I mean it's better. It's
- 9:33Speaker 3: a little bit better food, you know what I mean,
- 9:35Speaker 3: Like it's better than what it was. But like, okay,
- 9:37Speaker 3: I mean you know what I mean, Like you're still
- 9:39Speaker 3: I mean, I think in tripa A they were getting
- 9:42Speaker 3: they had chefs there that they were cooking in the
- 9:44Speaker 3: house of the stadium. But I don't know, man, you
- 9:46Speaker 3: get you get some fresh food from a restaurant, I mean,
- 9:50Speaker 3: it just tastes different. It's in two Like they probably
- 9:52Speaker 3: eat the same food every other home stand, so it's like.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Change it up a little bit.
- 9:57Speaker 7: I like that. I like that. Hey, first off, take
- 10:01Speaker 7: care of the people, no doubt.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Sorry, Hey, first off, congrats on your five hundredth career appearance.
- 10:07Speaker 5: That's an incredible accomplishment. But I think a lot of
- 10:11Speaker 5: the baseball world obviously knows, Josh Shader. I think a
- 10:13Speaker 5: lot of the baseball world knows, Brian to Brad, you
- 10:16Speaker 5: give me some love about some of these other guys
- 10:17Speaker 5: in your bullpen that maybe the baseball world doesn't know about,
- 10:20Speaker 5: because you guys have had a really nice back end
- 10:23Speaker 5: of that bullpen.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you for the five hundred's.
- 10:27Speaker 3: It's it's hard to think about when one of our
- 10:32Speaker 3: guys came up to me and say, congrats on five hundred,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and I'm like, I feel like it should be a
- 10:37Speaker 3: good thing. I don't know, it just it feels like
- 10:38Speaker 3: a wild feat but yeah, it's just hopefully another five
- 10:43Speaker 3: hundred more. But no, our bullpen man, we got some
- 10:47Speaker 3: dogs and that's what you need in the in the pen,
- 10:50Speaker 3: we got Okurt Seuss, bk Aj, day Low, and then
- 10:54Speaker 3: we have some guys coming up and then EMI's in there.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I mean, we just got a good group of dudes
- 10:59Speaker 3: that you know, it's it's fun to be around, It's
- 11:02Speaker 3: it's easy to go in like you know, it feels
- 11:05Speaker 3: like obviously like you want that to be a brotherhood, right,
- 11:09Speaker 3: and I mean for as much time as we spend together,
- 11:11Speaker 3: Like that's what it feels like, and that's what ultimately
- 11:14Speaker 3: you're trying to have each other's backs through everything, whether
- 11:17Speaker 3: it's good, bad, whatever, So you know, just having those
- 11:21Speaker 3: guys being able to joke around but also be serious
- 11:24Speaker 3: at the same time.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Like I mean, we.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Obviously at the beginning of the season, some of these
- 11:30Speaker 3: guys like Okra and BK and day Low, they were
- 11:34Speaker 3: they were putting in some work. You know, AJ has
- 11:36Speaker 3: been a fun one to watch and watch him grow
- 11:39Speaker 3: out obviously as a starter in the minor leagues and
- 11:42Speaker 3: coming up and kind of transitioning into that role role
- 11:45Speaker 3: was it's it's fun to see.
- 11:47Speaker 4: I mean, obviously, you know, you.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Never know how you're gonna do with routine base I
- 11:53Speaker 3: mean because being a starter, I mean, you have forty
- 11:56Speaker 3: minutes before the game, you have four days in between,
- 11:58Speaker 3: so it's like, what can I do to make sure
- 12:01Speaker 3: I'm still getting my work in, But I'm still ready
- 12:03Speaker 3: to pitch this day and maybe tomorrow.
- 12:05Speaker 4: And for what.
- 12:06Speaker 3: He's done, go on multiples leverage, you know, coming in
- 12:11Speaker 3: second inning sometimes like those things matter. And when you're
- 12:16Speaker 3: able to kind of just put your head down and
- 12:18Speaker 3: do the right stuff, like ultimately that's going to put
- 12:21Speaker 3: you in a good position long term.
- 12:22Speaker 4: And then you know, that's the same position with the
- 12:24Speaker 4: oak Man.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I mean, he gets called in anytime, and he's ultimately
- 12:30Speaker 3: the fire man. You know, I guess I have that name,
- 12:34Speaker 3: but ultimately he's the man that puts out all the fires.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And it's, uh, it's fun to see him do his thing,
- 12:41Speaker 3: and uh, you know, just get the opportunity to uh
- 12:45Speaker 3: just dominate.
- 12:46Speaker 6: You're the fire chief. You're the one that shows up
- 12:49Speaker 6: after all the smokes out. But like you make sure
- 12:52Speaker 6: all the all the teaser crossing the eyes are dotted.
- 12:55Speaker 7: But who's the good job clown? Who's the clown down there?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Man?
- 13:00Speaker 3: He's a he's I wouldn't say he's a clown, but
- 13:03Speaker 3: he's just funny.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Man.
- 13:04Speaker 3: He's just the way he keeps us going. He's always
- 13:07Speaker 3: got something for us to keep us entertained. And uh,
- 13:10Speaker 3: you know, I think he's a good, good guy to
- 13:14Speaker 3: have in our pen. And just he brings that group
- 13:17Speaker 3: together and that's what you need.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Hey, I got I got one more for you. I
- 13:22Speaker 5: got one baseball question, one not baseball question. We know
- 13:26Speaker 5: how the American League West is still up for grabs.
- 13:29Speaker 5: You guys haven't played your best baseball right now. What
- 13:31Speaker 5: do you kind of sink your teeth into? Is it
- 13:34Speaker 5: the experience being battle tested with that group of guys.
- 13:37Speaker 5: And then my second question is I think your property
- 13:40Speaker 5: is in Iowa. I want to know about the deer.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think I think it's just playing
- 13:46Speaker 3: good baseball, right, Like when you have situations where you
- 13:52Speaker 3: can move runners around. I think when you can do that,
- 13:55Speaker 3: that's when you're you're moving and you're gonna win more games. Ultimately,
- 14:00Speaker 3: we haven't been able to do that consistently.
- 14:02Speaker 4: But I mean we we have.
- 14:05Speaker 3: We have the guys to do it. We have the team,
- 14:09Speaker 3: the team that can you know, push this thing. And
- 14:11Speaker 3: I think you know, once you get on that role
- 14:13Speaker 3: and you've seen it in baseball where you you hop
- 14:16Speaker 3: on that train, you know, September and you move it
- 14:18Speaker 3: into the playoffs, like anything could happen.
- 14:21Speaker 4: So ultimately, I.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Think it's hold and strong with what we're doing, but
- 14:26Speaker 3: obviously there's room for improvement. I think there's always room
- 14:29Speaker 3: for improvement. You know, you go through one hundred and
- 14:31Speaker 3: sixty two games, you're gonna have the ups and you're
- 14:33Speaker 3: gonna have the downs, and it's it's really you know,
- 14:36Speaker 3: trying to catch that up right at the right time,
- 14:39Speaker 3: especially at the end of this year. So for us,
- 14:41Speaker 3: it's it's keep our head down and do.
- 14:44Speaker 4: What we do best. I mean, we we.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Have a solid core, and I think you know, when
- 14:50Speaker 3: you get those guys moving, it's a hard lineup to navigate.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And then second on your second question, I do have
- 14:57Speaker 3: some property up north, and I've been crushing the trailcam pictures.
- 15:02Speaker 3: We got some, We got some big boys out there,
- 15:05Speaker 3: So I need to start shooting my bow getting that ready.
- 15:07Speaker 3: But no, I'm excited, but I can't look to to ahead.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Gotta focus on the baseball part of it, and then hopefully,
- 15:17Speaker 3: hopefully we get this parade and then be able to
- 15:21Speaker 3: go out there and sit and stand and relax a
- 15:23Speaker 3: little bit.
- 15:27Speaker 1: For the families out there looking for a new path

- 16:21Speaker 1: f o u l K twelve dot com slash foul.
- 16:25Speaker 7: You can practice in the bullpen. You can practice.
- 16:27Speaker 6: You can get your mind off it by getting that
- 16:29Speaker 6: getting that crossbow, because I know you're not. I know
- 16:32Speaker 6: you're not pulling anything back too far. You probably got
- 16:34Speaker 6: the crossbows you're able to get.
- 16:36Speaker 4: In that crazy Oh, we can't hear you.
- 16:39Speaker 7: We can't hear you right now. We know what kind
- 16:41Speaker 7: of hunt you do. Uh?
- 16:44Speaker 6: Did you see you? You watch a lot of baseball.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Did you see Pete Alonzo's foul ball yet last night?
- 16:50Speaker 2: No?
- 16:50Speaker 4: I missed that, but I heard.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I caught you guys talking about it when I was
- 16:54Speaker 3: coming in, and I didn't see it. I don't know
- 16:56Speaker 3: if you want to put if you got it up,
- 16:58Speaker 3: you can pull it up just so I can see it, uh.
- 17:00Speaker 4: And give you my my rundown.
- 17:02Speaker 3: But I did hear about the automatic like the foul line,
- 17:07Speaker 3: and I think we should do it like tennis. I
- 17:08Speaker 3: mean to your point, like lasers or whatever we have.
- 17:12Speaker 3: We have track man or hawkeye that can do this stuff.
- 17:16Speaker 3: And it's like those foul lines aren't moving, so why
- 17:20Speaker 3: not do like tennis?
- 17:21Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 17:22Speaker 3: Like tennis literally has it to where it's if it's
- 17:25Speaker 3: hitting that line, it's in.
- 17:28Speaker 7: Did you see, let me see it.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Let's run. Yeah, yeah, I got it.
- 17:32Speaker 7: You got that fair or foul.
- 17:38Speaker 4: The top one, so is the right one where it's falling.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Yeah, the the left one, the left one is obviously
- 17:45Speaker 6: where it's going.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure, I got that.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Fair ball for sure, even when you're pitching, I mean
- 17:54Speaker 3: hopefully not, I mean yeah, I mean yeah, if I'm pitching,
- 17:59Speaker 3: I'm like, that's a foul ball.
- 18:01Speaker 4: No, I mean I mean that looks that looks like
- 18:04Speaker 4: a fair ball to me.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I mean because you got to think the left side
- 18:08Speaker 3: of the of the pole is is is the line,
- 18:12Speaker 3: and then the right side is in play. So if
- 18:16Speaker 3: it's even halfway on that pole, I mean it's a
- 18:19Speaker 3: fair ball.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I mean that's my take on it.
- 18:22Speaker 7: Yeah, no, for sure, for sure.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Is there something else that that you would like to see,
- 18:26Speaker 6: Like if obviously it came up last night, so that's
- 18:29Speaker 6: why we're talking about it. Is there something else that
- 18:31Speaker 6: you'd be like, I gotta I gotta see this change.
- 18:34Speaker 6: It seems like so much common sense that we should
- 18:38Speaker 6: be able to take care of this at every ballpark.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think it's the foul lines, right like,
- 18:45Speaker 3: I mean, it's the I mean, that's as simple as
- 18:48Speaker 3: it gets. But I mean, I don't have anything that
- 18:52Speaker 3: comes to mind. I don't, but you know, obviously, with
- 18:55Speaker 3: the topic coming up, I think that's an easy fix
- 18:58Speaker 3: you can I mean, even if you put a camera
- 19:00Speaker 3: down the flag the foul poles and you just run
- 19:03Speaker 3: it right down the line. I mean, I feel like
- 19:04Speaker 3: that could also work. I don't know, but hey, I'm
- 19:09Speaker 3: just here to play baseball and throw strikes.
- 19:12Speaker 7: That's fair. That's fair.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Hey, Josh one for you about the trade deadline, I know,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want to go back too much
- 19:21Speaker 1: on you know, when you were traded to the uh
- 19:24Speaker 1: or traded away from the Brewers, But when you look
- 19:27Speaker 1: at the team now and how much success that they've had,
- 19:31Speaker 1: do you feel like it can be frustrating for the
- 19:33Speaker 1: guys there when they don't really push the chips in
- 19:35Speaker 1: at the trade deadline, Like, did you guys have that
- 19:37Speaker 1: back then?
- 19:38Speaker 2: They're so consistently.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Good, but you know, just the strategy they have is
- 19:41Speaker 1: to not really go for the A listers at that time.
- 19:44Speaker 2: What do you think about it?
- 19:46Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 19:46Speaker 3: I mean, we I felt like eighteen was a solid
- 19:49Speaker 3: year for us and we did get some pieces. I
- 19:53Speaker 3: think at the same time, it's they have such a
- 19:56Speaker 3: young group of guys that come up and just do
- 19:59Speaker 3: really well, and I would hate for, you know, those guys'
- 20:04Speaker 3: long term pieces to leave for maybe a rental that
- 20:08Speaker 3: you know, you don't know if that rental is going
- 20:11Speaker 3: to impact your team in a big way or not.
- 20:14Speaker 3: So it's definitely a gamble. But I do think what
- 20:17Speaker 3: they're doing over there, and it's been like that since
- 20:20Speaker 3: I've been there, Like they have figured it out on
- 20:23Speaker 3: how to develop pitching and obviously the hitting side of
- 20:28Speaker 3: it as well. But I think I think the biggest
- 20:32Speaker 3: thing in baseball, it's like you want, you want the superstars,
- 20:36Speaker 3: you want, but you know it's it's more so I
- 20:40Speaker 3: think keeping the guys that have done well throughout instead
- 20:47Speaker 3: of getting rid of them. I think that's the biggest thing, like,
- 20:49Speaker 3: you know, you got you got guys coming on the
- 20:51Speaker 3: free agency in a few years, and it's like, well,
- 20:53Speaker 3: let's take the advantage and get these get prospects so
- 20:57Speaker 3: then you can build it, which is you know, one
- 20:58Speaker 3: of the reasons why they're the way they are right
- 21:01Speaker 3: now is these young guys. They get them through trades
- 21:04Speaker 3: and then they come up and flourish and you know,
- 21:07Speaker 3: help their team then. So it's just a different outlook,
- 21:09Speaker 3: I think. But ultimately, you know, that's just the way
- 21:13Speaker 3: they play the game and you can't really hate them
- 21:16Speaker 3: for that. But at the same time, it's you know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: you want to see the superstars.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Come in and be able to make a push.
- 21:24Speaker 3: But I felt like when we were there, we had
- 21:27Speaker 3: we had good opportunities to do it. You know, obviously
- 21:30Speaker 3: maybe one big piece could have helped, but to that point,
- 21:33Speaker 3: it's like you don't know if that big piece comes in.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I mean, when you get traded, it's it's a big difference,
- 21:38Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like you're you're lifting your
- 21:41Speaker 3: life up, You're moving right away to a new city,
- 21:44Speaker 3: to a new team, getting in, you know, housing all
- 21:47Speaker 3: that family, especially if you have family moving them out,
- 21:50Speaker 3: make sure they're taken care of. So I think there's
- 21:52Speaker 3: a lot of moving parts that people don't really understand
- 21:56Speaker 3: that could play a role in how guys perform.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Josh, they got a big piece in twenty eighteen.
- 22:02Speaker 7: They made a huge trade for me. Okay, that was
- 22:04Speaker 7: the huge megapiece, you know that.
- 22:07Speaker 6: But my question, we were joking, We were joking this
- 22:11Speaker 6: morning about a picture that I sent you about your
- 22:13Speaker 6: phone in your pocket.
- 22:14Speaker 7: It was your scattered report.
- 22:16Speaker 6: But you said, you said you got to keep your
- 22:18Speaker 6: phone close to you because of mock drafts. Are the
- 22:21Speaker 6: Astros big into fantasy football? And do you have any
- 22:26Speaker 6: good like trash talking or like how are you guys
- 22:29Speaker 6: gonna pick your your draft order anything like that from
- 22:33Speaker 6: this year?
- 22:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we're working on it.
- 22:35Speaker 3: We're a little behind, but we got we got our
- 22:38Speaker 3: roster assembled for the guys that are playing.
- 22:41Speaker 4: We are getting there.
- 22:43Speaker 3: We have some I mean, we've kind of moved around
- 22:46Speaker 3: the past three years on who's been been playing, but
- 22:50Speaker 3: we got a solid group this year. Trash talking is
- 22:53Speaker 3: definitely a must, especially when you get some guys making
- 22:56Speaker 3: some crazy trades.
- 22:58Speaker 4: But yeah, it's good.
- 23:00Speaker 3: We have the draft in New York, so coming up,
- 23:04Speaker 3: so hopefully you know, like I said, I had it
- 23:06Speaker 3: in my back pocket. Make sure I can run some
- 23:08Speaker 3: mock drafts. Make sure you know I'm rolling right.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Is there?
- 23:14Speaker 6: Are you able to tell us how much it costs
- 23:16Speaker 6: to get into the Houston Astros Players Only League?
- 23:20Speaker 4: M you're gonna have to pay for that?
- 23:23Speaker 7: Okay? Okay? Can you give us a.
- 23:28Speaker 6: What is it more than what you could have afforded
- 23:31Speaker 6: when you were on the league minimum?
- 23:35Speaker 3: It's twenty five hundred. I feel like I could have
- 23:36Speaker 3: heard that. It's not hateful. It's a good pay.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Blue Ball can get in there. You can get some
- 23:43Speaker 6: of the younger guys in there, but then you got
- 23:46Speaker 6: to bring everybody boys, some of you big boys can flex.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Yeah, we just don't.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I think the biggest thing is like when you get
- 23:53Speaker 3: these leagues that are like eight to ten grand, it's like,
- 23:56Speaker 3: for what I mean, it's just crazy because then you
- 23:59Speaker 3: start stressing. It's because it's like it's I mean, twenty
- 24:01Speaker 3: five hundred's a lot of money. But at the same time,
- 24:03Speaker 3: it's like, man, like you can get everybody on the
- 24:07Speaker 3: team involved, and like that's what you want. You want
- 24:11Speaker 3: to you want to be able to trash talk in
- 24:12Speaker 3: the offseason and be able to come back and spring
- 24:14Speaker 3: training and you know, obviously hopefully you're not the last
- 24:17Speaker 3: the last person at the bottom, but hey, that's that's
- 24:21Speaker 3: what you're fighting for first place. But it was crazy
- 24:24Speaker 3: last year we had yeah, we had a guy Spencer.
- 24:29Speaker 3: He was like I want to say, he started out
- 24:31Speaker 3: oh and four, oh and six and.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Ended up coming back and winning the whole thing. But
- 24:38Speaker 4: so we do we do head to head and then
- 24:43Speaker 4: you do.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I forget exactly how it works, but you do head
- 24:46Speaker 3: to head, so you can potentially win two games in
- 24:48Speaker 3: one week.
- 24:49Speaker 4: It's it's like there's like the average of the league.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Points, so then if you score over that league average,
- 24:57Speaker 3: you get a win. If you don't, then you get
- 24:59Speaker 3: a law. So potentially you could go zero and two
- 25:03Speaker 3: right off the rip.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I like that because otherwise you could get you could
- 25:07Speaker 1: have like third best team and just keep getting matched
- 25:09Speaker 1: up the wrong weeks and then be terrible. So that's
- 25:12Speaker 1: a cool way to kind of hedge it.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I'm a fan.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And the number, yeah, that's a fair number. I've heard
- 25:16Speaker 1: some crazy high numbers where you like, is everyone okay
- 25:19Speaker 1: with that participation level? For MLB measured salary like twenty
- 25:23Speaker 1: five hundred is that's nice? Whoever too knows what they're doing. Agreed, agreed.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Thanks for the insight. People like to know about that stuff.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Josh. Good to hear from you, man, Thanks for joining us.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Appreciate the time, dude. Yeah.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Great seeing you guys. Appreciate every time I get to
- 25:37Speaker 4: come on and hang out.
- 25:39Speaker 2: We love it. Thank you, Good luck, man. We'll see
- 25:41Speaker 2: you soon.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Okay, all right, brother y'all take care
