- 0:07Speaker 1: his podcast. Now back to the Mark Simone show on
- 0:11Speaker 1: WR Heydiction calls eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Is the number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike, how you doing.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark, and happy birthday to the Chairman of
- 0:27Speaker 2: the board.
- 0:30Speaker 1: One hundred and ten today, one hundred and ten.
- 0:33Speaker 2: One hundred and ten years young.
- 0:35Speaker 3: You know you mentioned Jackie Vernon recently and it was
- 0:39Speaker 3: it rang a bell because I remember you used to
- 0:41Speaker 3: do this.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Bit, you know, with he'd have the clicker. Here I
- 0:43Speaker 2: am on my summer vacation.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, for those who are Jackie Vernon was a comedian
- 0:48Speaker 1: back in the sixties, very popular and he was a
- 0:51Speaker 1: very boring guy. That was his act that he was
- 0:53Speaker 1: the most boring quiet and he'd say hello exactly, hello friends,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and he would do a like a slideshow with a
- 0:59Speaker 1: click and he goes right. But it was a very
- 1:03Speaker 1: boring guy. Now, this thing came out the other day
- 1:05Speaker 1: that he had like twelve families, nine thousand women.
- 1:08Speaker 3: He was a corralser, but I saw, you know, he
- 1:11Speaker 3: was on Sullivan and Sullivan. People may forget he had
- 1:15Speaker 3: the greatest comedians week after week on from you know,
- 1:20Speaker 3: the ordinary Jackie Varnings, but he knows Myron Cohen and
- 1:25Speaker 3: Alan King and Joan Rivers and John Byner and Sandy
- 1:28Speaker 3: Barron and two guys like London Lee and Stanley Myron Handleman.
- 1:31Speaker 1: You know, there I go past. But also, like he
- 1:34Speaker 1: did with rock and roll, he was quite cutting edge.
- 1:37Speaker 1: He would have a young Richard Pryor on and all
- 1:39Speaker 1: those guys were on site.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Exactly before Carson became the place for comedians to get
- 1:45Speaker 3: make their name, Sullivan was light years ahead.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: No, it was quite a show. It was done right
- 1:51Speaker 1: over there at what's now unfortunately the uh Stephen Colbert Theater,
- 1:55Speaker 1: but that was the Ed Sullivan Theater for years. And
- 1:57Speaker 1: when you went on there, forty to fifty million think
- 2:00Speaker 1: about this, forty or fifty million people would be watching.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It was unbelievable.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And like the Carson desk, if he called you over,
- 2:07Speaker 3: you know and shook your hand, that was you know
- 2:09Speaker 3: the next day you were headlining in Vegas.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was quite a show. Everybody used to
- 2:15Speaker 1: tell me about doing that. George Carlin had a whole routine.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You went to the deli next door, you got like
- 2:20Speaker 1: a six pack of beer. You took it there because
- 2:22Speaker 1: you'd be there the whole day. You'd do a dress rehearsal,
- 2:25Speaker 1: then you'd do a dress rehearsal for the audience, then
- 2:27Speaker 1: you take a break, then you come back and do
- 2:29Speaker 1: the show. So you do it like three times in
- 2:31Speaker 1: one day. Well, Mike grell As always, thanks for calling.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Let's go to Steve and bed sty Steve, how you.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Doing happy and healthy? Mark?
- 2:41Speaker 1: Thanks?
- 2:42Speaker 4: I had a suggestion days. It'll be a year since
- 2:45Speaker 4: we lost Dobrina Kouam on the f line. Are you
- 2:49Speaker 4: familiar with these still?
- 2:51Speaker 1: Who are you talking about?
- 2:53Speaker 4: Dabrina Kuwam, the woman who was burned alive by the
- 2:57Speaker 4: Guatemala and the legal immigrant.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah she was. It was a woman who and
- 3:03Speaker 1: illegal was here a nut and set her on fire
- 3:05Speaker 1: right on the subway platform there. So it's one year.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Are you familiar with that station?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Which station is it?
- 3:14Speaker 4: It's still will Avenue terminal. Do you know the station?
- 3:17Speaker 4: You've been there?
- 3:17Speaker 1: No, it's in Brooklyn, right by Nathan's. I've never been
- 3:23Speaker 1: on the subway outside of Manhattan. I only take it at.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Manhattan, one hundred feet away from where she was killed,
- 3:32Speaker 4: right in the center of the dome on the overpass.
- 3:36Speaker 4: It's an open space twelve x thirty six that would
- 3:39Speaker 4: make a perfect place for a stage, so that they
- 3:43Speaker 4: can play music under that dome.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's it was a terrible, terrible situation. I think you're
- 3:49Speaker 1: getting a little carried away with this. It's a terrible
- 3:51Speaker 1: terrible situation. Instead of worrying about that, let's worry about
- 3:55Speaker 1: doing something to patrol these subways. We need more protection there,
- 3:58Speaker 1: although it's gotten better. We need Curtis, the Guardian Angels,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we need the police, we need everything there. Uh wait,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I take that back. I did take the subway once
- 4:08Speaker 1: to the Barclay Center once, but otherwise just Manhattan. Let's
- 4:12Speaker 1: go to lou and Queens Lou.
- 4:14Speaker 5: How you doing, hey, Mark, I want to comment on Venezuela.
- 4:19Speaker 5: You were absolutely right. I want to bring up something.
- 4:22Speaker 5: They gave no coverage to the great escape of Maria Machado,
- 4:27Speaker 5: who of course was elected first to become the president
- 4:31Speaker 5: of Venezuela. It wasn't to happen. She now had, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 5: was escaping to receive the Nobel Prize winner for being
- 4:39Speaker 5: the opposition leader there. Why didn't she get any coverage?
- 4:43Speaker 5: It's unbelievable.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Well, do the math. She's a big Trump supporter. She
- 4:46Speaker 1: shared her Nobel prize with Donald Trump. She likes Trump.
- 4:50Speaker 1: She's the good of Venezuelan leader, the one currently there.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Maduro is the crooked, corrupt. So guess guess who the
- 4:58Speaker 1: fake news is defending. Guess which one promoting? Take it again.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Maduro is supporting Iranian oil, He's supporting the drug cartel.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Guess which one NBC likes, The one who wants to
- 5:14Speaker 1: clean up Venezuela, the woman who likes Trump. Now they're
- 5:17Speaker 1: not supporting her. There behind Maduro, the one with the
- 5:20Speaker 1: drug cartels, the narco terrorist boats, the illegal tankers shipping
- 5:25Speaker 1: Iranian oil to China, Cuba. That's the one there backing.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's the way they are. So you got to remember,
- 5:35Speaker 1: it's all emotion democrats. It's very childish. They just get emotional.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Ever they hate, they go crazy, and it's always double standard.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Whatever they go after Trump for doing, you find out
- 5:46Speaker 1: Biden did it four thousand times, Obama did it nine
- 5:49Speaker 1: thousand times. It doesn't matter to them. Hey, you remember
- 5:52Speaker 1: when remember they dropped some illegals in Martha's vineyard. It
- 5:57Speaker 1: was DeSantis. Remember he sent a planeloading, just dropped these
- 6:00Speaker 1: illegals one morning, All these illegal aliens Martha's vineyard. What
- 6:04Speaker 1: are the Democrats there do? They called the National Guard,
- 6:07Speaker 1: had them deported immediately, no due process at all, just
- 6:11Speaker 1: Adam deported. Adam sent the hell out of there. Hey,
- 6:13Speaker 1: when we come back, Howie Carr, we'll be with us.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We'll talk to him next on seven to ten wor
