I'll be getting to him in a moment, but before we get to that,
2:46
I do want to mention this. All of our stations were on the
2:49

2:53

2:59

3:22
was the winner of our Reds tickets. So congratulations to Matt, and enjoy
3:25
whatever game you decided to go to. Let's welcome into the show, Republicans.
3:29
Try to just Greg Thomas, good morning, sir, Good morning buddy.
3:31
How are you. I am doing fine, Greg, and I you
3:34
know, you can tell we're getting old because prior to the show, we
3:37
spent five minutes discussing our allergy issues. It's been killing me, man,
3:40
for like three months now. I've had it real bad too, and it
3:46
kind of comes and goes, but it's been the last week or so it's
3:49
really been on top of it. That's how you know, you get to
3:51
get And I'm a lot older than Greg, but I mean we sat down
3:54
and we're like, well, well, what are your symptoms. What are
3:57
you taking? And I've never had allergies or like that's stuck around this and
4:01
I'm a kid who took allergy shots as a kid until I was like eleven
4:05
or twelve and got to quit that. And now I'm like living on like
4:09
you know, flown A's and stuff. Yeah, we moved. We moved
4:11
to a new house a few years ago. And there must be some kind
4:14
of bush or tree or something about where we are. That's just that's I
4:17
don't know. I've just had it really bad. So I'm gonna have to
4:19
like get on something permanent. I don't know since our last episode, uh
4:27
that since last time you were on. You have been on since the election,
4:29
but a couple of things of having I want to get your opinion of
4:31
Donald Trump guilty, Hunter Biden guilty, and Mansion Independent. Well. I
4:39
think the uh you know, look, I think the Trump stuff. You
4:45
know, it's weird. It's like when that when when they're I mean,
4:48
and they are using the legal system against him for political purposes. I mean,
4:53
this isn't something new. We've seen this done in West Virginia, We've
4:57
seen this done across the country. They're obviously doing that to him. And
5:00
it does two things though, right, I mean one, actually it does
5:03
three things. It's their base all fired up because they like, you know,
5:06
they want it. Yeah, they string them up right that they want
5:11
them. They're raising money off of it, doing all this stuff. And
5:13
then and then of course Trump raises money off and off of his base,
5:15
right, so all of his base gets fired up and everything. And then
5:18
you sort of got the independence. And from what I can tell, they're
5:23
they're sort of like split on this, right. I mean, I think
5:25
you get some of the ones that, you know, some of the people
5:28
that were sort of leaning toward him anyway, that look at it and think,
5:31
oh my gosh, like if they could do that to him, they
5:33
could do that to me or whatever. But then you get, you know,
5:38
look, you legitimately have some independence, are like, hey, I
5:41
don't want to vote for somebody for president who's been indicted or whatever found guilty,
5:45
and and so, you know, I don't know, I think it's
5:48
hard to say this so soon to this being to just happening. You know,
5:55
what is the long term outcome of this going to be? I still
5:59
hold that, I still I think Trump's gonna win this time. I think
6:01
Trump's gonna win. Uh, I agree, And I think to me and
6:05
I've you know, I think I did an interview with with somebody else here
6:09
at the station. But like, there's three kinds of people in my mind
6:13
that are Trump supporters. There's like the original people like me that were with
6:15
him like August of twenty fifteen. You know, I wasn't with him on
6:19
the escalator, but I wasn't. I got on board not too long after
6:23
that just because I liked the outside or anything and mixing it up and I
6:27
liked all that. And then you sort of have this next group of people.
6:30
And I got a good number of my friends that are in this group
6:32
that you know, supported him when he had the nomination, you know,
6:34
definitely voted for him for president, and really liked the policies as he was
6:40
president, right. I mean, they you know, squeamish at some of
6:43
the other rhetoric and some of the things, but they were like, hey,
6:45
man, he's really getting it done as president and now and then of
6:48
course, you know, then they you know, had the election stolen from
6:51
him in the next time or or not or not or not depending on interview.
6:58
But this time, I feel like the reason it's going to go back
7:01
to He's going to get even more people than the first time. And I
7:06
think a little of it sort of the unsettling of the world, right,
7:10
I mean, you have all this, you know, the Israel and Ukraine,
7:12
and you know all this other stuff that's going on the border. But
7:15
I think the thing's inflation. Man. I think it's inflation, dude,
7:18
I just do know the same page I think. I think that. Look,
7:23
I think that Joe Biden is almost a guy. Here's here's why I've
7:28
been I've been wrong in elections in the past and may be wrong on this.
7:30
But one of the reasons I think that Joe Biden is is not going
7:32
to win is because his own base is turning against him right now and for
7:39
various reason. There was a story on ABC News this morning about the A.
7:43
C. L U is now coming out against Joe Biden over some things
7:46
having to do with the border. And so there are so many of these
7:49
people and I'm not saying they're going to go run vote for Trump, don't.
7:54
I think they're just not going to vote. Maybe some will go third
7:57
party, fourth party, whatever, they just they'll just stay out of it.
7:59
But but Biden has got some issues within his own party. He's gotten
8:03
more issues within his party and his quote unquote base than Trump does with hiss
8:09
a heck of a lot more. Yeah, there's no doubt about that,
8:11
David. I think that's and it's just the inflation, man, I mean,
8:13
it's and everybody feels it, right, I mean even you know,
8:18
everybody feels it. And kind of no matter what your station is, you
8:20
know, unless you're just somebody that's making money off of a business that makes
8:24
money during times like these, which there are some, right, I mean,
8:28
you know, look, if you're a you know, if you're a
8:31
federal contractor right now, you're probably pretty fat and happy, right, I
8:33
mean, you got the you know, the federal government spending a ton of
8:37
money, you know, so there's certain healthcare sectors, kind of federal construction
8:41
sectors that are doing really well. But you know, if you're just somebody
8:46
that's going to work and trying to feed your family and going to the grocery
8:50
store and it used to cost eighty bucks and now it costs one hundred and
8:52
twenty bucks. And you know, filling up your gas tank used to be
8:54
thirty bucks and now it's forty five bucks. I mean, that stuff adds
8:58
up, man, and somebody is going to take the blame for it.
9:01
And it's gonna it's going to be the guy in the White House, Republican
9:05
or Democrat. That's what's gonna be present. Right. Well, I mean
9:07
they turned you know, if you remember, and I will use this as
9:09
a segue into Mansion here, but you know, if you remember, they
9:13
turned Biden's Build Back Better into the Inflation Reduction Act, right, that didn't
9:18
reduce inflation. And of course that was the vote that Mansion casts to uh,
9:24
you know, to sort of ingratiate himself. I don't I don't know
9:28
why he cast it, but when he did cast it, that was the
9:31
end of his political career in West Virginia. And that's when you knew he
9:35
wasn't going to run for US Senate. And now all of a sudden you
9:39
have this. You know, he didn't run for US Senate. Uh,
9:41
and now you've got a push among and I think it's Look, I think
9:46
there's a very there are people pushing him to run for governor as an independent.
9:50
But you're talking about dozens of people, I mean, but those of
9:54
the maybe maybe one hundreds of those of us that are in this business.
9:58
Greg cannot borrow, beg or steel to get any of these people to go
10:01
on the record to talk about it. I know they're there and I know
10:05
who they are, but as far as getting them on the air to say
10:07
that ain't happening. Well, it's the old school establishment, right. I
10:11
mean, it's the people that have kind of had control of the state for
10:15
the last twenty five years. I mean, look, this is one of
10:18
the things and is you know you and I always say here, I mean
10:22
I wasn't the biggest fan of Morrissey, but I mean I do think one
10:24
of the things that Morrissey, one of the things I'm looking forward to him
10:28
doing, is kind of cleaning out that mess, right. I mean I
10:33
think you have you know, you just got certain people, certain lobbyists,
10:37
certain associations, certain organizations or even industries really across the strait the estate that
10:43
have had this inside track for twenty twenty five years and it's all just been
10:48
the mansion machine, right. I Mean he's had you know, he put
10:52
his people in certain places and they've been successful and they've helped him become successful
10:58
and kind of been part of it that political machine, and I think that's
11:03
getting broken up, and I think that'll be one of the you know,
11:07
if you know, two years from now, if we're sitting here and being
11:09
like, hey, what do you think? You know, what do you
11:11
like about the Morrissey governorship, I'm gonna say, Hey, there's three things
11:16
that I like, and one of them is going to be like he broke
11:18
that up. And I see that coming. I mean, I know,
11:22
I know they're talking about doing that stuff, and I'm looking forward to them
11:24
doing it because I think it really needs to be done. Talking to Greg
11:28
Thomas here, it's nine eight at eve Allen showing five Aye Life brought to
11:31
you a part by Hustan's Pizza. This month that your favorite Hustan's get a
11:33
large at n inch Pepperoni pizza and a whole ten inch sub only twenty three
11:37
to ninety nine. We got some information about Joe Manchin. I want to
11:41
get to with Greg, but do one knock out a couple of texts.
11:43
Tex says Greg. How is Trump going to reduce inflation? Is he going
11:46
to force companies to lower prices? No, you're gonna you you are going
11:52
to not spend so much money, federal money. You're not going to go
11:56
print money. It's the printing money that causes the inflation. I mean that,
12:01
like, that's what it was. I mean, we just we the
12:03
federal federal spending is out of control. It is, it's a record record
12:09
highs. But Trump spend a lot too. I look, he definitely did.
12:13
And that was sort of the reaction to the you know, his reactions
12:16
still started under Trump, There's no question it did. But then so Trump
12:20
did it. Trump did that first injection of it, like is this COVID
12:24
reaction? And then the then the Democrats got in and were like, well,
12:28
heck, if you can do it, watch this, buddy, you
12:31
know what I mean exactly like watch this, and they've just made it go
12:35
out of control. And that out of control spending is one hundred percent the
12:41
reason for inflation, and and everybody knows it, and you know, so
12:46
that's that's what you've got to do, is you've got to get control of
12:48
that federal spending, you know. And I think, you know, you
12:52
get control of that federal spending, you do some other things with monetary policy
12:56
to start to bring down the interest rates and some other stuff. And I
13:00
think you're going to see No, look, are we going to go back
13:01
to you know, prices from five years ago? I doubt that, But
13:07
I think at least if you can get kind of control of this thing and
13:09
stop it is, that's that's got to be goal. I mean, if
13:13
I'm the if I'm you know, if I'm President Trump, that's what I'm
13:16
talking about being my number one goal, right is I'm going to stop this.
13:18
I mean, you're just you know, we're going to go back to
13:22
you know, we're going to do our best to go back to some of
13:24
these uh you know, the costs that we had and the lower interest rates
13:28
and stuff like that. That's just killing families in America. Let me knock
13:33
out some more texts before we go to break. If Trump says a text
13:35
or gets elected, well of another four years of nothing being done while spending
13:39
increases, Trump will leave the country in worse state than it was when he
13:43
took over, just like the last time, with the majority of his businesses.
13:46
The guy's a clown, and too many people want his circus pathetic.
13:50
I don't I mean, I just don't know how you can say the country
13:54
was worse off pre COVID. You know what I mean, Look, you
14:00
want to go from election day to election day. But if you go from
14:03
the day he got elected to you know, the you know, February of
14:09
whatever, that COVID year was, twenty twenty, you know, the undoubtedly
14:15
he had done an excellent job as president. And look, you know,
14:20
we say, look this person, you know, look, you want to
14:22
have a debate over the COVID stuff. I'm not going to sit here and
14:24
defend every action that Trump did during COVID. I mean, I don't agree
14:26
with a lot of the stuff he did during COVID, so I'm not going
14:30
to do that. But up until then, that's what Trump has to come
14:33
back and tell people is like, hey, if you like that first three
14:39
years and two months of my presidency, you're going to want you want forty
14:43
eight more months of that, buddy, let's go. Final text before breaks
14:48
is it's not just inflation. I'm thinking eight terrorists arrested who were already settled
14:52
in US cities, not a new migrant, because over ten million illegals breaking
14:56
into our country has a lot more to do with Trump will win. It's
15:03
I put it at a strong number two for me. I mean, I
15:05
think It's definitely something that a lot of people are concerned about and should be
15:09
concerned about. I agree, you know, I think inflation's going to affect
15:13
more voters, but I think more of our base is concerned about that issue,
15:18
and justifiably so. Now twenty three of the Nave Island showing five eight

for more information. Greg Thomas is here Texas. David. Greg is completely
18:06
delusional. Yes, the convict might win this year, but I have no
18:10
idea. When people say it's his policies, and what any of them are?
18:12
I mean, he's a crazy, lunatic and a criminal Trump, I
18:15
think not. You literally, what policy does he follow other than his own
18:21
self interest? And if he wins, he'll be the same exact age as
18:23
Biden during his term. And if he did win in twenty twenty, how
18:27
can he win a third term? Y'all crazy liars? Look, I'll just
18:32
I mean, you know, I'm gonna sit here and write off twenty policies.
18:36
But let's rite off like three. We had a tax cut, right,
18:41
so instead of increased spending, we had, you know, instead of
18:44
us having to pay more, we were having to pay less to the government,
18:47
which I think is good. Trump was closing the border as opposed to
18:52
now we haven't. He didn't build the law like he said he you know,
18:56
he needed more help from Congress, but he also should have gotten that
18:59
done. But I mean he you know, we had a much different border
19:00
policy, right, yeah, I agree with that. You know, we
19:03
had a much different border policy. And just you know, this whole policing
19:07
the world thing, I mean, it's just not something we need to be
19:08
doing anymore. I mean, just isn't. I mean, I'm not saying
19:11
we shouldn't have you know, stations overseas or whatever at all, but I
19:15
mean this whole you know, getting involved in every conflict and the Ukraine nonsense
19:19
and all that, I mean, that's just silly. So I mean,
19:21
I you know, to say that the pot you know, he doesn't have
19:22
any different policies, I mean, that's just that's delusional. Uh, Jersey
19:27
Morrissey is a political hack who doesn't represent West Virginia. Just maga nuts,
19:32
uh, says A texture Texas says Greg seems to think things happened in a
19:37
vacuum during four years and that the previous four years of decisions don't affect the
19:41
following years. Look, we I mean didn't we didn't we talk about how
19:47
you know, like Trump's poty, you know, Trump's actions during I thought
19:51
we just talked about that. We did talk about how, you know,
19:53
some of the things that were done during COVID certainly was the start of this
19:56
and then had an impact on it. But the Democrats tripled down on the
20:00
spending. I mean, that's the that's the thing that caused inflation to go
20:03
out of control was just the you know it. It was like a ball
20:07
rolling down the hill, and you know, they didn't catch the ball.
20:10
They kicked the ball down the hill. Tex says when the Feds continuously print
20:14
workless dollars, it's a legal act. They called it modern monetary theory to
20:18
pay off the debt. Yet if a tax paying citizen were to do the
20:22
same thing at home, that's a crime. It's called counterfeiting, says a
20:25
textra Jexter says Obama left Trump a booming economy and he blew it. Did
20:29
nothing for the state of West Virginia. Biden bringing in good green jobs via
20:33
new Core steal. The Biden didn't bring in new course steel. The state
20:38
brought in new course steal. There are other projects that have been brought in
20:42
form energy and other ones that have been the green energy stuff. But the
20:47
new Core had been working, had been in the works for year. That's
20:49
I mean, trying to take credit like that that was that happened because the
20:53
Republicans took over and we changed state policies. Like the state policies that were
20:57
changed, brought in new cores in some of these other green energy things.
21:03
You know, my question, you know, my question about some of these
21:06
other green energy things is, you know, if Trump does get in there
21:08
and they stop funding that stuff, what happens to those projects? You know,
21:12
because I mean, they're not making money on their own, you know
21:15
what I mean. I mean, they're they're making money. You know,
21:18
They're they have resources because of the subsidies. All right, let me move
21:22
on here. You sent me some information yesterday, Greg about Senator Mansion and
21:26
it was a group called from a group called the Kaplan Strategies Group. Caplin
21:30
conducted a poll in West Virginia following Senator mansion switch from Democrat to independent.
21:34
Now, according to the poll, Senator Mansion's favorable rating right now sit somewhere
21:38
between forty five and forty eight percent. That's as of now. If the
21:44
Senator were to enter the race as an independent running for governor, if that's
21:49
if he would still trail Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, would Democrat Huntington mayor Steve
21:56
Williams, the Democratic nominee, coming in third. Thoughts on this from the
22:00
Caplin Strategy. Look, you know, and this and this is a you
22:03
know, sort of a national polling firm that does this kind of stuff all
22:07
over the country. I think this poll, you know, this poll only
22:10
had Trump at like fifty five percent here, which I think is probably ten
22:14
points low. So I think this poll is i'd say ten or more.
22:17
Yeah, So I think this poll's sort of a little this this poll is
22:22
definitely more moderately focused than probably what it should leaning than and what it should
22:27
be. But even so, you know, morris he's up like ten you
22:34
know, with Morrissey having got like a third of the Republican primary vote.
22:38
According to this poll, he's already got another third already with him. And
22:42
look, he's not going to get one hundred percent of the Republican vote,
22:45
but I look, I think he is going to go out and get you
22:48
know, he's already at two thirds. I think he gets the three fourths
22:51
by the time we get to the fall, probably gets eighty to eighty five
22:55
percent at the end of the day. You know. And so you know,
23:00
Mansion in this survey is slightly ahead of Steve Williams. But we're back
23:04
into that situation where you know, look, Morsey has trouble with the one
23:08
on one race, but a multi candidate race he wins. And that's the
23:11
situation in the spring, right, Yeah, yeah, I mean that's that's
23:15
gonna be the situation here. I mean, to think that Mansion's going to
23:18
be able to kind of win a three way race with a Democrat in it
23:22
against Morrissey, I mean, it's just a it's just a pipe drink if
23:26
it even happens. I mean, he's not said, you know, that's
23:30
and I think that's what we're talking about here is you know, look,
23:32
Manchion isn't going to get in a race that he doesn't think he has a
23:36
more than likely chance to win. And you don't get into a race where
23:40
you're down ten in the republican candidate hasn't even brought all the Republicans home yet
23:44
thinking I'm going to go and get this. I mean, you know,
23:47
because there's still just a lot of liberals. I mean, there's not a
23:49
lot of liberals in West Virginia. You know, if you count you know,
23:52
if you did as a percentage of your Texters, it would be,
23:56
but like you know, you get a you know, twenty percent of our
24:00
state is liberal, and guess what this poll had Steve Williams at twenty one
24:04
percent. You know, I think this poll is probably a little bit heavy
24:08
on moderates, which was probably done for Mansion's favor. But even with the
24:12
poll that was done to kind of probably make them look good, you don't
24:15
see them out here kind of proposing it, you know, promoting it,
24:18
because I just don't think this is real. I mean, I think this
24:21
is you know, one hundred people that really want them to do it.
24:25
Joe lets it go on and does a couple interviews every once in a while
24:27
because he likes the attention, you know, I know, the you know,
24:33
if you if this show we're based in you know, Morgantown and not
24:36
Charleston. You know, most people up there think that he's angling for the
24:40
w presidency job. I mean they think that's really the thing that I've heard
24:42
some discussion, and Hoppy talked about this a couple of months ago. I
24:47
don't see that happening simply, and I've said this and this is no disrespect
24:51
toward Joe Mansion whatsoever. WVU, and I got in trouble because I said
24:55
fancies itself as an academic institution. I didn't they are an academic because I
25:00
didn't mean that in a negative way toward WVU. What I meant to say
25:03
is is that it's very hard for somebody. I mean, look, Brad
25:06
Smith is just doing a kick butt job at Marshall University, right, nobody
25:08
would even question. But I think a lot of the folks at WVU,
25:14
much like a lot of other quote unquote larger universities, they don't like the
25:18
idea of a non academic coming in there. And again, that's not a
25:21
slap against Joe Manchin. I think Mansion would probably do a pretty good job
25:23
as WVU president. It's not a slap against him. I just think I
25:27
just don't see that happening. Let me ask you this before because I got
25:30
several things I got to get to before you go. I want to ask
25:33
you about the Republicans, the ones that ran for governor, you know,
25:37
Warner, Capitol, and Miller. Are they all going to be behind Morrison?
25:41
Oh? I think they all will. Yeah, yeah, they'll all
25:42
do that. I think. I mean, I think so too. I
25:45
think I think he had a lot of you know, there's a lot because
25:47
that was a nasty campaign grade it was very nasty. Ad the rhetoric and
25:51
the ads got pretty aggressive. And that'll take a little bit of time.
25:53
But no, I can't imagine that that any of those three would not support
25:57
him. Think there'll be different, various levels of support, but I can't
26:03
imagine we're not going to go out there and say, yeah, I'm voting
26:07
for this guy. I think you should vote. One of the things that
26:07
came out of that poll that continues to amaze me is the popularity of Governor
26:11
Jim Justice. According to the poll, he is leading Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott
26:15
big time. I mean something like sixty to twenty seven percent among those that
26:21
have made up their minds in those races, I think that race is going
26:23
to be seventy thirty at the end of the day. I mean, I
26:26
mean it's at least going to be two to one. That's a two to
26:29
one race, without question. I've touched on this for some time, not
26:33
a whole lot number one, because it really doesn't impact our area, so
26:37
to speak. But I've kind of deferred to Hoppy doing the statewide show on
26:40
this, but this situation in Mingo County during the primary, the allegations of
26:44
Democrats being handed Republican ballots when they went to the polling place. You've been
26:51
at the forefront kind of looking on this. I know you were on with
26:53
my friend Mark Curtis on Inside West Virginian Politics over the weekend talking about it.
26:59
What the heck went on there? Well, we're getting to the bottom
27:02
of it. You know, we after the election we just had, there
27:04
were a whole lot of Democrats that were calling the Republican candidates and saying,
27:08
hey, I got to vote for you. And everybody was like, oh
27:11
gosh, you know you, how were you able to vote for me?
27:14
And we started looking and we started looking around, and then we looked at
27:17
the precinct results, and you had precincts that had ninety seven percent Republican turnout,
27:23
ninety two and eighty eight, which I love what you said on Mark
27:26
Curtis, you said, if they're getting ninety seven percent voter turnout, they
27:30
need to be doing voter engagement. They need to be the ones out there.
27:33
If they could manage to get ninety seven percent the people to show up.
27:36
Yeah, look, Republican turnout statewide was thirty percent. Republican turnout in
27:40
Mingo County was sixty nine percent, and so we do think something's a miss
27:45
down there. You know, there's a there's a delegate candidate, John White,
27:48
there's a County commission candidate, and then a state Senate candidate, Chandler
27:52
Swape, who's challenged the election they had. They met with the County Commission
27:57
early last week. A hearing has been set for July eighteenth, and so
28:04
between now and then, the County Commission, uh, you know, the
28:10
parties are working together with the County Commission to be able to review the election
28:14
information, including the poll books, and hopefully from that review, we'll be
28:18
able to determine just how many Democrats voted in the Republican primary. And so
28:22
in addition to the precinct results, you know, we you know, we
28:26
we have affidavits that indicate there were some I'm gloud to put it it best
28:32
procedural problems in Mingo County work error. I mean, well, well,
28:37
you know, look, we're reviewing the information and we're going to review as
28:40
much information as possible to see if we can determine why Mingo County had that
28:45
sixty nine percent Republican turnout. You know why the when Trump wasn't on the
28:49
ballot not Yeah, and it's in a primary, and you know, you
28:55
that's what I meant. Yeah, it's it's just and you got to ask
28:57
yourself, Okay, was this is where? Okay, if it did happen
29:00
that way, maybe some poll workers made a mistake, or were people I
29:04
hate to be conspiracy theorist, or were somebody directing this. I think there's
29:10
a couple different options. We don't want to assign any you know, we
29:14
don't know yet, right and that's why we're going down there asking hey,
29:17
can we look at the poll books. We're going to be talking to more
29:18
voters, you know, just trying to get as much information as we can
29:22
before this hearing. We'll have this hearing, we'll see how that goes,
29:26
and you know, we'll be you know, vigorously working sort of the legal
29:32
ends of this to try to get it resolved, you know, before the
29:36
ballots are printed or you know, I don't know the exact timeline at this
29:38
point, but you know, hopefully we can get this resolved as soon as
29:41
possible. Great Thom, It's always a pleasure to have you in the show

Text says, to reduce spending programs we need I'm sorry, to reduce spending
32:57
programs we need to be cut. What programs will be cut? Texas tax
33:00
cuts to the wealthy during Trump. I'm just flabbergasted, says a Texter,
33:06
that anyone would say mister Trump did a good job at anything. He passed
33:08
a tax cut that benefited mostly corporations and the more wealth to do taxpayers,
33:13
and I know nothing else that made a difference. He thought over the border
33:15
fence, took money from home construction for homes with the military to build it
33:21
again, says a texture. Look back at the twenty eighteen numbers and there's
33:24
a graph in here. Sex says, do any of you Trump paters actually
33:30
sit back and listen to yourselves on how erratic you get when talking about Trump.
33:34
You people are the definition of a Trump of Trump derangement syndrome. Come
33:37
up for air and breathe, people and calm down. The sad thing is
33:43
as a text that if the party a family values is voting for a rapist,
33:45
fraudstrate, and most likely a child molester. Lay off the kool aid
33:50
folks, Texas with the people like Greg. If you aren't licking the GOP
33:53
Trump boot, you're a liberal, says a Texter. There's only one who
34:00
does not have ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and that person is Joe Biden,
34:02
Pedro, John Pederal Dawn. Rather, it should be in prison, says
34:07
a text. Jexas said, Dave, I voted in Kanawah County. I'm
34:09
a Republican that have been for a very long time. When I voted,
34:13
the poll worker asked me which ballot I want? What if you're a registered
34:15
Republican and they ask you what ballot you wanted, then that's that's illegal Texas.
34:22
You guys are right. I wish I had less value of my stock
34:24
portfolios, which more of my friends were out of work. Please tell the
34:28
whole story, says a text. Coming up tomorrow show, It's Friday.
34:30
Me and he handa gardener from the kenaw Charlest new main associations here with our

34:47

34:51

34:52
middle of all that, and he'll be here to talk about it tomorrow.
34:53
Plus Canaw County Commissioned expected to name a new prosecutor tonight, as I mentioned
34:59
at the top of the show, efforting to get whomever that person is to
35:01

35:06
tomorrow, our good friend Amy Breedlove. You've heard Amy on the show before.
35:08
She's a native of Charleston. She's made a career for herself as a
35:12
professional voiceover artist. If you go through the self checkout at Target, you've
35:16
heard her voice. She also did her time in radio Land working for a
35:20
sister station, V one hundred. She and I survived the broadcasting program at
35:23
Marshall together. Amy and her husband live in Florida, but they're in Charleston
35:27
for the summer, so she's gonna kind of stop buying. Can help me
35:30
co host tomorrow. Well, you've seen her on WCCHS television no relation on
35:35
the news each morning Fox eleven too. She's been on the show in the
35:38
past. But this weekend she's gonna be on stage. I guess it's this
35:42
weekend, is that right? It kicks off on Sunday, so I'm sorry
35:45
Monday. So Monday I check in and then on over this acline and she's
35:50
going to be on in front of the cameras on a different light as you're
35:52
competing for Miss West forrgays. Welcome to Welcome to the show. Yeah,
35:55
I appreciate you, appreciate you having me back. So what goes on with
35:59
this day? You have to start this weekend, So it's a long process.
36:02
So Sunday I'm leaving because it's going to be in Martinsburg, Okay,
36:06
And then Monday we check in and then we'll be doing different events throughout the
36:08
week, and then for three days we do preliminaries and then the final night
36:14
is Sunday or Saturday, the twenty second. So what goes on, So
36:16
there's a lot there's a lot that goes on. So there's on stage question,
36:21
there's gown, there's talent, there's interview. So it's a big process.
36:25
So I had you on the show before to talk about this. What
36:29
made you want to do this? I mean, you're a successful person in
36:31
the world of television news. You get ten thousand other things going on.
36:34
What made you decide to want to do this? Yeah? I get that
36:36
question a lot, and I think for me, a background about me.
36:38
I'm actually a two time stage four cancer survivor. So when I was going
36:43
through treatment, I was told that I would have a fifteen percent survivor rate,
36:45
and I'm now twenty one years of remission. And for me, I
36:49
always wanted to be that voice. And I want other cancer patients, cancer
36:52
survivors to look at me and go, wow, you know what she did
36:54
it. Look what I can do too. So how much have pageants changed
37:01
over the years, Because I grew up as a kid of the seventies and
37:04
you saw the pageant with Burt Parks from Atlantic City, and there was always
37:07
the you know, the singing competition, somebody would twirl a baiton, or
37:12
there was a swimsuit competition or whatever. How much have they changed as a
37:15
whole over the years. It's evolved. You know, we really look at
37:19
talent and I remember years ago you saw the girls that competed and they would
37:22
train in Europe and they were these amazing pianists. And now the talent's were
37:27
revamped. So for me, my talent's a little bit different. So I
37:30
went on stage and I went, Okay, they don't want me to sing,
37:34
They definitely don't want me to dance. What am I going to do?
37:37
So I have a background. My parents were going to make homes and
37:38
I love to flip properties as well. So I'm going to teach you how
37:42
to fix a faulty wire on stage. So that's my talent. What does
37:46
some of the other people do? Since it's kind of gotten away from the
37:50
traditional talent suspect some of the other people. So Miss America right now,
37:52
Madison Horse or something, right, I heard that now you can do cheerleading
37:58
on stage. Madison marshmaths America right now. She's a fighter pilot. So
38:00
she did more of a monologue and talked about how she got into it her
38:05
like learning to fly planes, different things like that. So it's revamped from
38:07
the traditional ways. Well, and it's it's it's changed over the years.
38:12
Yeah, I mean it's and everything's taking place in Martinsburg. It's all in
38:15
Martinsburg. Yep. So you head up on Sunday. I'm leaving on Sunday
38:19
just to kind of get prepared. I check it on Monday and then I'll
38:22
be competing that and how many how many people compete in this time? So
38:25
in total there's fifteen of us, so I'm missing Okay, So how did
38:29
you get to that level? Yeah? So you can compete for a preliminary
38:32
or you can do at large, and I just ended up going out large.
38:36
So my title was mis Metro Valley m we have a texture. It
38:39
says twenty one years remission after twice. It says twenty one years remission after
38:44
twice having stage four cancer. That's incredible. Thank you. Yeah. I
38:46
always want to be a voice for people, and I want people when they
38:50
hear the word cancer to have somebody like Hannah that they can really discuss those
38:53
hard hitting questions in those hard thus so many I mean again, and I've
38:58
done a lot of charitable things over the years of my radio career with cancer,
39:01
and one thing you can always say about cancer is it touches every one.
39:05
Everybody. I always say that you can walk into a room and ask
39:07
people to raise their hand if you or someone you know has been affected and
39:10
being people will well. And how's the TV thing going? I mean,
39:14

39:17
I'm on mornings now. So I switched. I was working evenings and
39:20
I anchor a lot more. So I know Jennifer's been out for a little
39:22
bit. She's not feeling too well, so I've been taking over this week,
39:25
so Anthony's been having to deal with me. Well, we wish you
39:30
the best to like Anna, It's always a plus of pleasure to talk to
39:31
you and have you in. This is the second time I think that you've
39:34
had time. I'm glad you wanted to be back. Well. I think
39:37
this is a fact. And and and if you win, we're going to
39:38
have you well when we're gonna we're gonna have you on the Are there other
39:40

39:45
the Charleston area. Jennifer Ruth right now. I competed with her last year
39:49
and she got top five as well, so I'm competing with her again.
39:51
There's a couple of girls that are fairly new that are heading over to Martinsburg
39:54
as well. So it's good. But we would love to see I mean,
39:57
because you know you're you're a friend of the show. We'd love to
39:59
see you do well. But if it's not you, we'd love to have
40:00
somebody from the metro area. And I know you would be saying that as
40:05
well. So after whoever the winner is, if it's you, do you
40:07
do walk around the sash like all the all the time? I mean,
40:09
how's that work? I hope. So I'll be going to the grocery store
40:13
with that sash. How you wear it? I'll pump in gas with a
40:15
crown and everything. There she is well, you know, earlier in the
40:20
week I had had Merrily mccaullifar from thirteen, and we learned that she is
40:25
into home improvement as you are. And I have got this whole idea that
40:30
I that we could direct a reality show with you and Marrily mccauliffe together as
40:37
just doing home improvement. We're ready, We're ready, And do you have
40:38
the name of it? Not yet? See, I have my name already.
40:42
All right, mine's going to be demo to doorknobs, Demo to door.
40:45
Doesn't this somo? Okay? I have that? All right? It
40:49
sounds good. Well, we wish you the best of luck. I appreciate
40:51
you and all the all the contestants, but we do wish you the best
40:54
of luck and your story. Again about like the text, I got to
40:58

41:00
but I didn't realize it had been twenty one years. Yeah, that's awesome.
41:04
Well, we wish you the best. To keep us updated with how
41:06

Commissioner Ben Selango is here. How are you, Sirtain, I'm great,
44:15
good morning. Did you tell her Hannah client that you had already trademarked that
44:19
name? Trademarked it a demos to dormos to doorknobs, so I get a
44:22
quarter every time her episode runs. That is kind of cool though, that
44:27
you know somebody that you see on television is going to be running from Miss
44:29
West Virginia. But we have several people from the Charles Stonnaria that are running.
44:31
According to what she said, So, yeah, we do, we
44:34
do, and that's awesome. I think she was in top five last year.
44:37
Five. I'm hoping one of our Charlestonnaria people know who no matter who
44:40
it is. I mean, I'm friends with Hannah, but I'd like to
44:43
see the rest of them, you know, like to see somebody from the
44:45
Charles scenario. When did it be kind of cool too? All right,
44:46
before we get into anything else, Ben, I wanted to ask you about
44:50
the life and legacy have retired Kenna Kenny Serga Judge Herman, Judge Kennedy that
44:57
passed away. Talk about that. Yeah, so I was not on the
44:59
commisson and obviously when he was a judge, but I was practicing law when
45:02
he was a judge. I've been pricing now for twenty seven years, and
45:07
he was. He was just one of the kindest people you could possibly meet,
45:10
always fair, did so much for the county, so much for the
45:15
state, and you know, he'll be missed. And it's been a while
45:19
since I talked to him. But yesterday Duke Bloom, Judge dou Bloom texted
45:22
me and let me know that he had passed, and you know, I
45:24
was before my time in Charleston. Of course, I certainly knew the name,
45:29
and I was doing little research and reading about what a life. I
45:31
mean, everything that the judge did or just about everything was the first.
45:37
It was absolutely he was a trail blazer. He was the first to do
45:39
this and the first of his color to do this in the first And now
45:43
to the point, and this is what I like about this sort of thing,
45:45
when it becomes that if another African American is elected to that position,
45:51
the day that we no longer have to say the first, that's right,
45:52
you know, the day that we know we would just say it's it's the
45:54
guy, or it's the lady or whatever. He was the first. And
45:58
we've had a number of we've had several African American judges in Kanawa County.
46:02
Judge Burger was amazing. Now so she's in the Southern District US District Court
46:07
and I don't get to see her that often, but you know, just
46:09
wonderful judges. And Judge Kennedy's definitely going to be missed. And he exemplified
46:15
what a judge should be. I mean, he his demeanor, always good
46:20
about getting his rulings out. Just a wonderful judge, wonderful person, commissioner,
46:25
big time happenings. I guess later there will be an announcement that'll come
46:29
out at the Kanawh County Commission be the new prosecutors got to be named,
46:34
and I'm efforting, as I said, to have whomever that person is on
46:37
the show tomorrow. So this process, how does this process work to name
46:42
because this was the you have an opening now because of a retirement, So
46:45
so how does the whole thing work? And then announcement comes later to well,
46:49
you know, so five o'clock, we're going to celebrate Chuck Miller's retirement.
46:52
I mean, he's been just a wonderful part of the community, was
46:55
a great prosecutor. Of course, he was us district attorney for a while,
47:00
so we're definitely going to miss him. I understand, you know,
47:02
he wants to move on. We appreciate his service, and we're going to
47:07
recognize him today with a proclamation and then we're going to do the appointment very
47:12
similar to the way that we did the County Commission vacancy. We'll probably put
47:15
out a press release earlier today just to let folks know who we think is
47:22
going to get it. Of course, we are not allowed to vote outside
47:24
of a public meeting, but our county manager can go back and forth between
47:28
the commissioners and just find out who we want. So this is you and
47:31
commission President Wheeler that come to a and Commissioner Slotnik. So now I keep
47:36
forgetting we have another commissioner out. I forgot about it, forgot about him.
47:38
Yeah, so we'll probably do something today around one or one thirty pm,
47:42
a press release, because I did not want kind of like they did
47:45
what we did with the commission meeting. I don't want a bunch of people
47:49
showing up thinking they're going to get it and only to be let down.
47:53
And that's when I was appointed in twenty seventeen. I was thrilled that I
47:57
was appointed, but I really felt badly for the other nine didn't get it,
48:00
and they had their family there and they were ready to take pictures.
48:01
And so we want to do it a little differently. I also want to
48:07
mention the issue with Tyler Mountain, with the with the Fire Department of several
48:09
authors of their resigned. I know there was a pretty contentious public meeting held
48:13
last night as socials video and heard our story about that. What exactly can
48:16
you tell us about that? Do you know what the issues are? I
48:19
mean, can you give any insight into that? I do. I think
48:22
the you know, the biggest issue right now, we've got to make sure
48:23
that we have coverage. As soon as I heard that there was an issue
48:28
coming up that we were going to have mass resignations from the volunteer fire department
48:31
out there, we entered a mutual aid agreement with several other fire departments to
48:37
make sure that there's coverage and cross sayings. That's number one priority. You
48:39
know, We've got to have people that are responding house fires, car accidents,
48:45
whatever it may be. We've got to have people. We worked with
48:45
enter A nine one one, we work at the State Fire Marshal's office to
48:49
make sure that there was coverage just in case the rumors that we were hearing,
48:52
you know, I was getting texts about were true that in fact there
48:57
were going to be mass resignations, and of course that happened. How many
49:00
are we talking because O recently it was like ten, but then others have
49:02
come back and said, well, no, it really wasn't that many.
49:05
Do you have a more definitive number. You know, I've seen different numbers.
49:08
Initially. I heard it was seven initially, and then I think there
49:14
are you know, some of the members that resigned had problems with the way
49:16
that it was being run. And that's not you know, it's not unusual.
49:21
It's unusual to have a mass resignation like that. It's not unusual to
49:25
have people that think that maybe it's not whether it's Tyler Mount or any other
49:30
volunteer fire department or any other organization for that matter, people think that maybe
49:34
it should be run a little differently, and you know, that's that's kind
49:37
of what we're looking at now. We want to make sure that the people
49:39
are protected, that we've got coverage in that area, and then we'll deal
49:43
with the rest of several other and I mentioned them on the air, so
49:45
well, the departments kind of stepped up, you know, and since said
49:50
we we got you, and all, yeah, they did, and and
49:52
you know, thanks to C. W. Sigmund who was out there working
49:54
to make sure that we had coverage, mutual aid agreements in place. Anni
50:00
Rothford over at Metro to make sure that you know, the calls are routed
50:02
appropriately, so Everything's going to be fine. Any updates on the Capital Sports
50:07
Center since the last time we talked to her, any of the demolition projects
50:10
or anything like that. In the closing minute and a half or so long,
50:13
Yeah, no, dim is coming along. We've got Capital Sports Center
50:15
meeting today, We've got design meeting, so that is progressing. We've got
50:21
about seventeen million dollars in earmarks that advanced to the next level. So we're
50:27
pleased that those were advanced, and you know, looking forward to to getting
50:30
this thing started and completed real quick. Going back to Judge Kennedy, I
50:36
have the text here says thirty years ago, the judge was never too busy
50:38
to stop swimming laps at the rec center in South Charleston to talk to an
50:42
aspiring lawyer. God bless him and his family. Absolutely he was very personal,
50:46
just a wonderful, wonderful you all right, what do you got going
50:49
on out at Shawnee this week? Oh my gosh, what's not going on
50:51
there? We've got you got to cover it in about a minute sor right.
50:53
Us YS big tournaments coming in about thirty two million dollars coming in the
50:58
community over the next few weeks. One hundred and ten teams. President's Cup
51:01
starts June fourteenth. When is that tomorrow? That's tomorrow, Yeah, tomorrow,
51:06
So fourteenth through the eighteenth. That's one hundred and ten teams from about
51:09
fifteen different states. And then the big Daddy comes in, the big tournament.
51:14
That's the us YS National Championship Series, two hundred and forty three teams
51:19
June twenty sixth through July third. So you're going to see downtown packed.
51:22
You're going to see a lot of different communities packed with kids in soccer jerseys.
51:25
Please be patient, and for all the businesses out there, got to
51:29
make sure that you've got your food in stock. You know, the first
51:32
few times we ran these tournaments, everybody was running out of food. So
51:35
make sure that you've got everything in stock. This is going to be a
51:37
very busy few weeks. I mean, if you put that and we got
51:40
festival going on, We've got regatta yakfast, we got Scott coming up here
51:45
to a couple of weeks. So absolutely a busy time in rickanav Valley.
51:49
