Transcript
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: Well, hey, thanks for singing us in Steve and Jeff Show Band.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: And once again, Jeff, how about those white socks?
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: How are you doing, Jeff?
- 0:41SPEAKER_04: Yes, I'm doing better than the Sox after getting uh beat by the Cubs this week.
- 0:46SPEAKER_04: But you know what, Steve, on a personal note, I don't feel great.
- 0:50SPEAKER_04: I think you know, sometimes I just feel like like I'm I'm Christy Gnome.
- 0:55SPEAKER_04: I I don't know.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Well, you mean wait, wait, you mean you had your face laminated?
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: Or oh no, wait, no, maybe you did terrible things on your job and you got fired.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Or maybe you got in trouble for misappropriating funds and buying multiple airplanes for you and your extramarital partner.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh, oh, maybe you killed dogs.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, I oh, I know what it is.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: I know Kathy's dressing in men's clothes.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I would say none of the above, but I think you may have hit one or two of those, but along the way.
- 1:26SPEAKER_04: But but I think it was something else.
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: I think it had to do with the fact that I'm gonna be having a lot of surgeries coming up, and you know, I haven't really filled you in and on all of that, but yeah, it's kind of scary me.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: When you said Chrissy's name, I get confused.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: I tend to mix all those MAGA babe bots mixed up.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: You know, it's funny, they do seem to be the only ones that are being pushed out of the White House, which is kind of interesting, but and now, oh, and now we of course have the heavenly strings of Natalie Harp.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: She's so hot.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Oh looks just like everybody else.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Well, she looks like somebody else.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: It's the interesting one.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: She looks like somebody else.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she really does.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: Quite a bit, yeah.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: And you know, from the letter she wrote to the king, I don't think she's going anywhere soon.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: I think our king is gonna keep plucking that harp.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: I mean, she's she's she's so I mean she means so much more to the king, you know, than these others, yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: Hey, she came with the king off the plane that was supposed to be blown up, you know, but supposedly gonna be blown up by the terrorists.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: She's that important.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: But I digress, yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Thinking about your surgery, not I didn't completely forget about your medical issues there, but it it I you know, I kind of did, but I uh you know, but but back to those.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Uh it is hard having medical issues.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: Uh now are these cosmetic surgeries you're doing, kind of like the Christie thing?
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, they're not.
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: You know, I don't I think I moved past that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: Remember, I had a nose job a while back, and uh, you know, I think I pretty well kind of nailed it, and I think I'm in pretty good shape now, don't you think?
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: So you're you think you're past the cosmetic?
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Uh are these are eye surgeries?
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: You're getting your eyes checked?
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: Uh no, but maybe I'll put that on the list.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you might want to, yeah, yeah.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: Check that out.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: Check that out.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:20SPEAKER_04: But but first things first, as you know, in a few weeks I'm gonna have surgery to repair a torn labia.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: You know, it's funny because I thought only women had that procedure, but you know, I guess I'm wrong.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: Well, Jeff, I think you mean labrum, uh, a torn labrum.
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: Um, I I had a cousin who had that, had that surgery.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's near your shoulder or down by your hip or somewhere else, maybe.
- 3:49SPEAKER_04: Is that right?
- 3:50SPEAKER_04: That that seems like a long muscle.
- 3:52SPEAKER_04: So it's so it goes from your shoulder down to your hip.
- 3:55SPEAKER_04: That's that seems pretty crazy to me.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: And sounds like serious surgery, which I I I really wasn't prepared for.
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: The doctor said that it was well, it wasn't a doctor, but he, you know, the guy I talked to said that it wasn't a big deal.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: And plus, I asked my neighbor, you know, my neighbor, Betty Vulva.
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, she's right next door, and you know, she told me it wasn't a big deal and that it really wasn't that serious.
- 4:18SPEAKER_03: Well, and she lives pretty close to the lab room, so she might know.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: I mean, uh let me let me ask you though, where do you feel the pain?
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: And have the doctors told you anything about the procedure?
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what have they told you?
- 4:30SPEAKER_04: Good question.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: Something I probably should have asked, you know, when I was going through this process, but now that you mention it, I think that the pain is in my shoulder, which is a reason why I'm having my shoulder operated on.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, and I definitely yeah, I mean that that makes sense.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: And and you're right, I need to see a doctor, you know.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: I mean, I you can only go so far when you when you're dealing with a veterinarian.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: Uh veterinarian, now you you you saw a veterinarian.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: So I was thinking when I heard vet, I thought, well, maybe maybe it's a former military doctor, but uh, you don't mean like a vet like former military, you're talking like this is your dog's doctor.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: Why did you see a why did you see a vet for your shoulder?
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: It's a funny story.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: So I was taking I was taking Tula, my golden, in for a uh checkup.
- 5:21SPEAKER_04: I was in the waiting room with her, and she was pulling me all over the place.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: And the vet noticed that I was in some pain, and you know, he's a great guy, and he just asked if he could help.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: So the vet is doing the surgery, your dog's doctor is gonna do your surgery.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: Steve, I think you know me well enough to know that I take this stuff very seriously.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: My body is my temple, and I don't do your synagogue, too.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so it's my synagogue too, yeah.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: And I don't take you know, I don't do irresponsible things, I don't take chances.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: So we all know that veterinarians are not real doctors.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: We also know that even though this veterinarian was a great guy and in the clinic, I'm not gonna have him do the surgery because he's not a surgeon.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: So I'm having somebody else in his office do it who is actually a surgeon.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: I don't know if he's a doctor, but I do know that he's a groomer too, so which is nice, you know, so I can have something done at the same time I'm having the surgery, which I need, you know.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: Sometimes you get all bushy, you know, I haven't been to get my hair cut for a while.
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: So, but it would be embarrassing if I showed up with the surgeon without any pants on.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: I really have no idea why I would do that.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: And without the pants on, the groomer might be more interested in you, so to speak.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: But but I digress.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: I'd be a little embarrassed, but hey, maybe that's just me and you know, maybe maybe some of the millions, let's face it, Jeff the millions that are listening, might be in the same boat.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: But let's say you survive the operation.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: Let's just say, right?
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: Are you all set for the recovery though?
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: Because that that can be that could be trickier than you think.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: Well, I thought about it, so you know, I scheduled it for Friday so that I can recover over the weekend, then I'll be ready on Monday.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, I think you're gonna need more time than that.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: I'm Googling, I I was just Googling this surgery or searching it up.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: I was searching up the surgery like the kids say these days.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: And you you're gonna be in a sling for six weeks and rehab for months after that, physical therapy and stuff for months after that.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: So, and that would be if, you know, of course, if a real doctor does the procedure.
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: We have the smartest audience in all of podcasting.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: And I bet our audience can help you with some ideas for the recovery period, like how to manage, how to cope, how to maximize your recovery, how to handle the physical therapy.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: So listen, podcast audience, if any of you have had the surgery and have some tips, text us now at the number that's on your screen, and we will share them, not only with Jeff, but really with anyone else who's having either labial or lab room surgery.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: I because you know, either one.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: I think it's a great idea.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: And now that I'm looking at this a little bit closer, it looks like I will be pretty limited for a while.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: You said six weeks.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: That's what I that's that's when I searched up, that's what I found.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: That's that's a long time, and that's on my right shoulder.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: And as as you probably know, I'm right-handed, so you know I do a lot of things with my right hand.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: Well, I bet back in high school you could use both hands, but but I digress.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: I I tell you, they are smart and they are attentive.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: We got Mike, Mike from Iowa City, Iowa, who suggests that you might want to make sure you can do kind of the basic stuff.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: I guess and that's a good place to start.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: You do you do have to make sure you can do kind of the basics.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: He had a couple suggestions.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: He said, for example, driving is gonna be out for you, probably.
- 8:49SPEAKER_04: I never thought that.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so he suggests Ubering, which you know makes sense.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: Or he says, you know, you could also hire a strong person to carry you everywhere.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: He says there's there's a service you can call this company four college guys in a van, and they'll pick you up, carry around, take you places, they'll pick you up gently and carry you around even inside your house.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: And you know, maybe some of them, some of them may be groomers too.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: So I I think it's an excellent suggestion, Mike.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: I hear those guys are good painters too.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: Don't guess that's what I hear.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: So it's a great idea.
- 9:26SPEAKER_04: I'll look them up.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: I bet they would even help me get dressed and undressed.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: I'm sure they would.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: The groomers, especially, would help you with that.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they really were.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I expect that they you know they would help me in the bathroom too, but I see that they don't actually me.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: So that could be a problem.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: But they may help me with the the the private stuff, you know, the toilet stuff.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Not to worry about that.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: Another of our brilliant, smart, attentive listeners, Bridget from Toledo, Ohio.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Bridget says you can use it.
- 9:58SPEAKER_03: There's a national company called Humpty Dumpty.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: It's a toilet assistant service.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: If you don't want to spend a lot of money, uh they charge$200 per visit.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: So she did have a couple other suggestions too.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: That's that's a little expensive.
- 10:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, I don't want to go cheap on it, though.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: So$200 a day sounds like a lot of money, but uh you know, I think I can afford that.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh no, it's it's$200 every time you go to the bathroom.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: So Jeff, every uh every time you go to the bathroom for any reason, Jeff.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know how many times you uh come on.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: Uh you that's you're gonna you're gonna go broke quick.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: Don't don't you know, don't do that.
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: She has she has some other ideas here.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: What does she suggest?
- 10:37SPEAKER_04: Because I I I can't come up with that kind of money.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: Well, she suggests that you install a bidet and you spray instead of wipe.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: Very European.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: Now you've you know you've traveled a lot, Jeff.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: You've probably used bidets before.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: You ever use I love bidets, you know, especially when you set them on the pleasure setting, you know, where they're blast?
- 10:59SPEAKER_04: They're all very exciting.
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 11:02SPEAKER_04: You can actually hear the ocean sometimes when they're when they're going a little.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: But Steve, I'm kind of a traditionalist.
- 11:10SPEAKER_04: I I'm old-fashioned, plus I shop at Costco, so I have like a thousand rolls of toilet paper.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: So is there any way I can I can make that work for me?
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: I agree with that.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: I hate the waste paper, but keep in mind, I mean that stuff's not gonna spoil.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: So that stuff's good whenever.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, you could use it 20 years from now and you know it'd be just exactly like it is now.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: But Bridget has another idea, and she suggests wearing an adult diaper.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: Now, I think we've seen some prominent examples of that in the news lately, haven't we?
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: You wear this adult diaper and just have someone come over once a day to change you.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Now they probably charge$200 too.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: But yeah, probably.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: And does that go over the diaper I have on, or is that in place of it?
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: I don't know if that's how that would work, but you know, I think that's one of those stylistic questions that you really should should discuss with your trainer or with your physical therapist or perhaps even with your doctor.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because I but I would hate to give you the wrong answer.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't give medical advice.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: You're not a vet.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: I am not a vet, no.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: And nor was I in the military.
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: But I do like that idea, and I'm I'm gonna keep that in mind.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: And I see here that uh we just got a a text from Bart from Kansas City, yeah, and he's yeah, and and he suggests buying what looks like a back scratcher.
- 12:34SPEAKER_04: Now, I I don't know how a back scratcher would help me go to the bathroom work it through in your mind for a minute, okay.
- 12:44SPEAKER_04: Okay, so oh, so it reaches I think you figured it out.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, and it reaches wherever you pointed.
- 12:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I could wrap that tarot paper around it.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: Um, it's called the magic wand.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: I like this in the bathroom.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: I bet it is, yeah.
- 13:00SPEAKER_04: Already you add that with the bidet, and you got yourself a party.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: I was uh that was a store in a store in Vegas one time that sold a bunch of those.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they look good, but it but I digress.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Go ahead.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: And now that I see the video, which is really helpful, so it shows you exactly how to use them, although I don't think there's a lot of different ways to use them, but you know, now you're talking primary way, yeah.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: Several variants, I'm sure.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: Uh you know.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I still would have to learn to use my left hand, which you know, I haven't really used my left hand in a long time.
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: And you know, sometimes when I use my left hand, it's not very accurate.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Maybe I can do exercises and practice like at home in bed.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: Just think of high school, you'll be fine.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: So now to move out of the bedroom and bathroom, we have uh another suggestion, David from Champaign, Illinois, who points out that you should accept that something will come up and be a problem.
- 13:58SPEAKER_03: Things are gonna happen.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: You're gonna you're gonna run into situations you haven't predicted, right?
- 14:04SPEAKER_03: Which is true.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: Six weeks, not the end of the world, he says, you know, your basic hygiene is gonna suffer.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: You won't be able to shave, shower, use deodorant, brush your teeth.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: Eating is gonna be a challenge unless you eat only finger food or fingers, nothing you would actually have to cut.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: Well, this doesn't sound like fun.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: I never thought of any of this shit.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, that's completely.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: I'm so glad.
- 14:35SPEAKER_04: You know, my veterinarian didn't mention any of that.
- 14:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, and to be honest, I never really had great hygiene to begin with, so I'm not sure there's gonna be that much of a difference.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: And and I I I guess I can have Kathy cut things up for me, you know, at least you can make those little finger sandwiches.
- 14:53SPEAKER_04: Not with my fingers, but you know, these little with I don't like them without crust.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: Crust on fingers is a bad sign.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: You gotta take that back to the store.
- 15:03SPEAKER_04: But I think at the end of the day, I would be mostly on a diet of ice cream chips and chips, and you know, the finger food, you know, all healthy food, which will probably result in me losing weight.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: So it's it's actually kind of sounds like a cool diet.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, that diet is gonna do wonders for you.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it will create a new you.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Another you, yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: And now, as far as coming into the studio, uh, you know, really that's probably not an option with your hygiene thing that's going on.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: Please don't even try to come into the studio for really for all of us, for all of our sake.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 15:44SPEAKER_04: Well, and I I would have to get a ride anyway.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: And well, there you go.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, you have one of the college groomers uh carry over here.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: I could have them do that.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: Well, this has all been an eye-opener for me, and uh you know, I haven't even got to my next surgery, which is not surgery, but it's a procedure, which is a colonoscopy, and then I have surgery for hemorrhoids after that.
- 16:03SPEAKER_04: So maybe we can talk about that in another episode and you know, you know, give me some suggestions.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: You do seem to be pretty focused on particular area of the body.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: If I mean there does seem to be a real an intense focus.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: I'll just leave it at that.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: A focus.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, okay.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: But but there's crossover here, don't you think?
- 16:22SPEAKER_04: Well, they're yeah, well, these are maybe some of these tools would be would be good for hemorrhoids, you know, and you know, just using the bathroom easier, and you know, maybe I should rethink this surgery and maybe switch them around.
- 16:34SPEAKER_04: Maybe I should do the colonoscopy first.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: I hear that drink that you that you take is delicious.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's very nice, yeah.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's lemony.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: Lemony.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: Uh I love lemony.
- 16:45SPEAKER_04: So you think maybe I should hold off?
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: That might be a good idea.
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm I know that I'm pretty disgusted so far, and I'm not gonna be living with you taking care of you.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: So I'm feeling for Kathy, whether she's wearing men or women's clothing, maybe you should rethink this whole thing.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, being able to use two arms is fun, but maybe it's overrated, maybe it's not so bad.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: And why do I need a second arm when you've got a spare one?
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: So maybe you could help me as well.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: You my friends are not gonna be there.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Oh no, oh no.
- 17:19SPEAKER_04: Welcome.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Well, welcome to come.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: Maybe I can have maybe I can have the vet come and we'll do it in Omaha.
- 17:24SPEAKER_04: How about that?
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: Well, thank I boy.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: I really appreciate that offer.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: I know that means a lot, but I no, I think I'm I've got all right.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: Let's see, I'm busy, uh I'm busy that week, all six of them.
- 17:38SPEAKER_04: Well, thanks to everyone for their help, and yeah, let everyone know how it turns out if I decide to go through with that procedure.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: So we'll be talking more about this as the show goes on.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: And so Steve and Jeff Show band sing us out of here with something medical.
