Transcript
- 0:00You listen to the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:01My name is Rex 45. And you know, every time I say
- 0:05that I it reminds me of a time when I was in Boston.
- 0:08I used to always say I'm on the mic every Monday from this time
- 0:11and all that. But it's different.
- 0:12But every once in a while I want to, I want to slip that in, but
- 0:15it's the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:16And this is a Tuesday night and I'm excited I get to interview a
- 0:22fellow motorcycle rider, racer, track day guy, motorcycle
- 0:28community guy, 'cause he does do things in the community as well
- 0:32and spreading the love of, of the two wheels, which we we all
- 0:35love. And, and, and that's kind of
- 0:37what he goes by on social media, you know, two wheels, 1 chain
- 0:41and, and, and I like it 'cause without a chain, you know what
- 0:45I'm saying? You only got 2 wheels and all
- 0:49the things two chains too. So it's I feel like I'm already
- 0:55in good company and I haven't really got a chance to notice
- 0:58dude yet. But with no further ado, let's
- 1:02bring him in for sure on on the beef of a cool podcast.
- 1:06Welcome to the show. What's up, brother Ricks, man
- 1:10Welcome, man. I I appreciate you coming on and
- 1:13taking the time and also being flexible.
- 1:15Believe it or not, it doesn't normally happen.
- 1:19Keep asking someone to change their schedule for me, but I
- 1:23really appreciate that to the utmost because I do I do value
- 1:28everyone's time and and being punctual is is a good thing.
- 1:32So man, I, I, I, I thank you for taking the time out and I know
- 1:36you told me his name initially and I'm bad with names.
- 1:39That's why I go by Rexy and not my government, because I'm.
- 1:43Very bad with your name, but yeah, Ariel.
- 1:45Ariel is my nickname. It's not my government.
- 1:47Name we got to Hario 2 wheels 1 chain no doubt man.
- 1:52Welcome to the show man. How you doing tonight?
- 1:54Man, I'm doing great, man. I'm, you know, I've been been
- 1:57following you guys for a while, man.
- 1:59I like you guys content and I've been so anxious to like jump in
- 2:03the mix with you all, especially when you guys talk about the,
- 2:07the Moto GP racing and all that, because I've been following that
- 2:10ever since I was like a youngster.
- 2:12So like, so I've just been so excited to jump on this podcast
- 2:15and try to get in the mix with you all.
- 2:17So hey, I'm looking forward to it tonight.
- 2:19OK, that's what's up, man. I, I, I, I appreciate the words.
- 2:23And you, you definitely been following, as you know, if
- 2:26you've been following, you already know you've been
- 2:28watching Moto GP before I was watching you already on the mic
- 2:32before I was. So I'm a late bloomer man, and
- 2:36I'm not trying to pretend otherwise.
- 2:39So yeah, you know, like how did you get into two wheels, man?
- 2:42How was it for you? As as you already know my spiel.
- 2:45So like, you know, how was it for you when you first got on 2
- 2:48wheels man? OK, man, Like is so that we can
- 2:54go back to the 80s bad? So like.
- 2:56To the beginning man. To the.
- 2:57Beginning OK, so I'm originally from Birmingham, AL and my dad
- 3:04really got me into to motorcycle racing, right, motorcycle
- 3:09racing, motorcycle, all that stuff.
- 3:11Like even before I was born, my dad raced motorcycles in
- 3:14Alabama. So drag racing.
- 3:17So I think I have a picture of I think I have a picture on my on
- 3:22one of my Instagram pages where one Christmas my dad got me like
- 3:27a three Wheeler Kawasaki, man. It got me my red helmet and my
- 3:31dad had a motorcycle and he's the could be in between his
- 3:35legs. Man.
- 3:36I I can remember some of that stuff.
- 3:38Right. Let's talk about the years,
- 3:40though. We got to listen on my 80s.
- 3:41Babies, babies. Let's talk about the years, man.
- 3:44When, when, What year was that? Maybe like I was born in 1980s,
- 3:49so like 8485, maybe like because that's, that's the furthest I
- 3:52can go back in my history of consciousness is like 1984 for
- 3:56sure. 19841985 around that time, right?
- 4:00And man, I just, I fell in love with it, man.
- 4:04And ever since then I just been like chasing it.
- 4:07And then growing up and being, you know, going through my
- 4:10teenage years, I really wanted a moped, but my, but I don't think
- 4:18my parents trusted me with a moped with my granddad, though,
- 4:22he had like the he had a maybe a 1975 Honda CBR450 right at his
- 4:31office where he worked at, right.
- 4:33Man, I have probably spent hours beyond hours on that motorcycle
- 4:39a little bit imagining me on it, right?
- 4:42Like, and I'll tell you a crazy story about that because last
- 4:46year I was enrolled Atlanta, they had one on display, that
- 4:50same exact motorcycle that I used to play with as a, you
- 4:54know, as a youngster. It was there at the race.
- 4:59And it was. It was a nostalgic feeling
- 5:01because it was just it brought back memories.
- 5:03My granddad is not with me anymore, but just remembering
- 5:07that like, man, I remember I used to be on this all day like
- 5:11hours. My mom didn't even care.
- 5:12Like she like, you know, I was just doing something like, but
- 5:16ever since then that just like been like, you know, I still
- 5:19wanted, I still wanted to purchase that bike.
- 5:21But it's, you know, I probably had to do a lot of work and keep
- 5:24doing a lot of searching to look for it.
- 5:25But that's definitely something that like, I want to get to,
- 5:29yeah. I, I feel yeah, because like I,
- 5:32I there's some oldest bikes and some cars that I'm like, I'd
- 5:36like to rebuild, but you, you don't know what the parts is
- 5:39like. So, but like, you know, when,
- 5:42when did you like first like jump on, you know, your first
- 5:45bike and and learn how to ride like, like what age were you
- 5:49and. Let me tell you this one quick
- 5:53story, right? So I'm a retired veteran, right?
- 5:55I've probably been retired out the Army.
- 5:57I did 26 years active duty and I probably been, I retired 2024,
- 6:03right? So let me tell you, I, I, I this
- 6:07story go collaborate with where I'm going.
- 6:09So I was stationed in Germany. I got stationed in Germany in
- 6:111999, right? And I went to a place called
- 6:16Kaiser Slot in Germany and they had the green ZX7, right?
- 6:23And I wanted it so bad, right? And I went there, I went to
- 6:28Kaiser Slaughton K town. I went one weekend, got approved
- 6:32for it and everything, right. And I was so excited.
- 6:38I was so excited. I came back home.
- 6:39I came back home and called my mom.
- 6:41I mean, I came back to my barracks while I was stationed
- 6:43at in Germany. I called my mom was like, well,
- 6:45I'm about to get a motorcycle, right?
- 6:48And man, my mom flipped the word out of me.
- 6:51She said if you get a motorcycle, you're not going to
- 6:53be my son anymore, right? Man, I was, I was 19 and and it
- 7:01was probably good. It was probably good at that
- 7:02time because like I'm stationed in Germany.
- 7:05Yeah, Autobahn the Germans, they always in 4 Leathers.
- 7:09Man, we're going to talk about the Autobahn because that's my,
- 7:12that's all my bucket list of places.
- 7:14So it's interesting. I was probably, I was like a BMX
- 7:17kid and I was probably, I must have been like 13 and there were
- 7:22kids starting to ride dirt bikes or, or the Honda, I think it was
- 7:27the XLXL 50 or something or whatever.
- 7:31And I remember coming home and wanting one.
- 7:34And, you know, I'm from Jamaica, originally migrated here or
- 7:37immigrated here in 81. And I remember going home and
- 7:41telling my mother I wanted a bike.
- 7:42And yeah, there was, there was none of that.
- 7:43There was no, it was like, you're not going to, you're
- 7:45going to kill yourself. And, and like you is probably, I
- 7:48probably would have because I I, I, you know, I was a daredevil
- 7:51as a kid. So.
- 7:53Yeah. So.
- 7:53So it's crazy that, you know, our parents got some kind of
- 7:57like, full sight, like, you're going to hurt yourself.
- 8:01Oh yeah, for sure, for sure. I definitely was out of control
- 8:04around that time, but I probably probably would be on this
- 8:06podcast if I probably purchased it there.
- 8:08Yeah, yeah, so, but it's OK for 19 years so.
- 8:11So when did you finally get to jump on a bike?
- 8:13Because. OK, so I got, I end up getting
- 8:15stationed in Hawaii from 2005 to 2010 and I purchased my first
- 8:20motorcycle in 2007. OK, when I was when I hadn't
- 8:24turned 27 yet, I was 26. That's what I purchased yeah.
- 8:29And I had a 2008 ZX6R Yeah in. 2. 1007, yeah.
- 8:35Nice. And which island in Hawaii were
- 8:39you stationed on and and how long were you there for?
- 8:42I was stationed in Oahu and I was there five years, five
- 8:47years. And I would tell you something
- 8:48right after every place I've ever been stationed at, that's
- 8:52probably the most place that I have put the most miles on my
- 8:55motorcycle, on a motorcycle. OK, OK.
- 8:58What are you talking about for numbers?
- 9:00Huh. What are you talking about for
- 9:01numbers? Maybe man, maybe close to like
- 9:076000 miles, man, I rode every day, every day from that
- 9:12particular time when I got my motorcycle.
- 9:14Maybe because it's it's it's perfect weather.
- 9:17It's no bad weather there, right.
- 9:19So like right in Hawaii and and and the motorcycle culture is
- 9:23something serious in the eight O 8 man and I I picked up with a
- 9:28lot of guys there that had man, we had AI had a blast, Man.
- 9:31I, I, I will never forget the rider that I did in Hawaii, man,
- 9:35Never, never forget. No, we, we, we, we, we have one
- 9:38of our guys that come on the show, Jordan, he was also
- 9:43stationed out there. A couple of people actually
- 9:45that's been on the show has been in Hawaii and and kind of jumped
- 9:49on a motorcycle for the first time.
- 9:51So it seems like it's a place that people can get introduced
- 9:55to motorcycling. But, you know, let's talk about
- 9:58Germany for a little bit on the autobahn because, like, were you
- 10:01able to, you know, put your foot to the metal pedal to the metal
- 10:05on the Autobahn while you were there?
- 10:06Oh. For sure.
- 10:08Oh for sure. I had a like AI think a 94 Acura
- 10:12Integra and it had 140 on the dash and I probably did every
- 10:19bit of 140 every time, every time. 5 speed.
- 10:23I'll never forget, man. And yeah, I, I, I, yeah, you got
- 10:28you. 120 K is like 80 mph, right?
- 10:31And in some places that where we used to go where it's just like
- 10:34a just a long extended period of road with no speed limit, man,
- 10:42it's all the way down to the floor.
- 10:43So it can't go anymore. Right, right.
- 10:45Yeah. You know, you know, I, I could
- 10:48talk about Germany for a while, but you know, I was, I'm, I'm
- 10:52going to go see Moto GP in Germany at some point And I'm,
- 10:56I'm probably going to like, I, I, I remember looking at the,
- 10:58the, my itinerary, like trying to figure it out.
- 11:01So I was going to do it last year and, and I think I was
- 11:04going to fly in like Frankfurt and just drive, which was like a
- 11:065-6 hour drive. And I was like that might be
- 11:09fun. It will be it will be break for
- 11:14tonight's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:17So, OK. So, so you know, you're in,
- 11:19you're in Hawaii, you know, you got a bike and you're riding and
- 11:23you're putting in the miles and stuff like that.
- 11:26You know, when did you start or, or, or did you already start
- 11:30paying attention to like, you know, Moto GP or, or yeah, Moto
- 11:35GP back then or a world super bike or any of the racing in the
- 11:39in, in the US Motor America, AMA.
- 11:42Like when did you start paying that stuff track days or even
- 11:44start just like, OK, Cuz for me, like I, you know, I got into,
- 11:48like I said, I got into riding late and I was fortunate that
- 11:51the guy, one of the guys that I knew from the car, cuz well,
- 11:55like I was, you know, before Fast and the Furious, it was us.
- 12:01It was us. We always look at because we,
- 12:03we, we, we had, we, we were Volkswagens and, and whatnot,
- 12:07but it was us. And like every other person
- 12:09probably says that, that, that they'll play with cars and stuff
- 12:12like that. But like, you know, when did you
- 12:16start like seeing like the racing side of things?
- 12:18Cause for me that was like later on and, and, and seeing that as
- 12:21an opportunity to even just get to the track and, and maybe
- 12:252000. OK. 2000, yeah, yeah, 2000 was
- 12:29like, like really when I start paying attention to it because
- 12:34that was, I think that was and Moto GP, that was Kenny Roberts
- 12:39junior run the Moto GP, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:42Yeah. And Rossi was on his way, man,
- 12:46you know what I mean? And and I started picking it up,
- 12:49pick it up around that time. And it was this the Brazilian
- 12:52guy, what was his name? Alex Barrows.
- 12:56No Barrows, Barrows. Barrows, Barrows.
- 12:59Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Barrows, yeah.
- 13:01And I only knew that going back and watching I I didn't live it
- 13:04in real time. Yeah, so and and I just used, I
- 13:08was just so fascinated with it, man.
- 13:10Just like just the amount of, you know, skill and talent that
- 13:14it takes to like really ride a motorcycle at that high
- 13:17performance, you know, leaning like taking the turns at that
- 13:22particular speed. And it was just intriguing to me
- 13:24at that time, you know, like especially being a young, young
- 13:28man and, you know, into speed like that, you know, and able to
- 13:31actually see it in fruition, like somebody on a machine
- 13:34that's taking it right, a motorcycle to the limit, man.
- 13:37I just, you know, basketball and sports.
- 13:40That is cool. That is cool.
- 13:41I like it, but man versus machine and pushing it to the
- 13:44Olympic man, that's that's what my heart is truly at.
- 13:47Yeah, no, I I agree, man. I agree.
- 13:49I, you know, it's, you know, I, you know, I don't think I've
- 13:52ever said this, but I got into cars because of my dad and, and
- 13:57he didn't race, but he knew how to drive.
- 14:00And, you know, in Jamaica, you know, I, I always like everybody
- 14:05fix their cars because you can't afford a mechanic because you
- 14:08just, you're out there renting. So it, it, it, it, it was always
- 14:13cars. So for me, like as a 12 year
- 14:15old, you know, I, it was cars, cars, cars, cars.
- 14:18So like, but it but once I finally got to drive, you know,
- 14:24I knew that was like, yeah, this is my thing.
- 14:26This is me and this machine. We understand each other.
- 14:30We're talking, we're on the same page.
- 14:33It's I can't explain it You. It's just it's, you know, it's
- 14:36just a feel, right? So go ahead.
- 14:42No, go ahead. Yeah, it was just, I know that
- 14:45feeling because like my, my dad, my dad was in the cars too,
- 14:48because he had a, he had a, a Trans Am man that was with the
- 14:53amber lighting inside. And it was like, I think it was
- 14:57a 5 or 6 speed with the Phoenix on the hood.
- 15:00And man, I used to love that car bad.
- 15:03I used to love that car. And I tell you, my dad still
- 15:07rides. My dad still rides.
- 15:09And I remember when I was stationed in Germany, I came
- 15:12home and my dad had the first he had, I think it was maybe 2000
- 15:17or I think it was 2000 or 2001. I came home.
- 15:21He had the first Gen. booster. He had it, man.
- 15:24Yeah, first jet. He had it, man.
- 15:27And it was it was a monster, man.
- 15:29It was a monster. Nice.
- 15:33So, OK, so now we're, we're, we're, we're in the early 2000s
- 15:37and, and you're following Moto GP and, and, and, and, and the
- 15:40restoration and stuff like that. And you're, and you're riding
- 15:45and, and stuff like that. Now.
- 15:46When did you get to the track and and how did that happen?
- 15:50OK, like Fast forward, that was like maybe 2000, 2011, 12.
- 16:03No, no, no, no, I was, I was in Afghanistan maybe 2013, 2013.
- 16:12That's when I really got into it.
- 16:13And it was the a female that passed away that I was supposed
- 16:18to actually link up. Man, she was an actual SJ
- 16:21Harris, right? I don't know, like she she she
- 16:25passed away on on the set of what was the name of that movie?
- 16:34SJ Harris. She passed on us.
- 16:35What's the? What's the?
- 16:37What's the? Deadpool.
- 16:40Deadpool. She passed away on on Deadpool,
- 16:42right? And I was stationed in New York,
- 16:44right? I don't know but I I heard about
- 16:47that. Yeah, she passed away.
- 16:48She was. She had raised a little bit in.
- 16:51AMA also, right? Yeah, she was a stunt woman,
- 16:53right? Yeah, she was a stunt woman,
- 16:55right? And we asked our corresponding
- 16:58together on, on what is it? We asked our correspondent on
- 17:03Facebook around that time, and she was trying to get me to New
- 17:05York to come there to try to link up with her.
- 17:08She's like, yeah, just come down here because I was, I was in
- 17:10upper state New York, like Fort Drum is like past Syracuse,
- 17:13right? And she kept on trying to get me
- 17:15to come down to the city to try to like to learn from her,
- 17:18right? And I was like, so eager to
- 17:19learn from her. And, you know, unfortunately,
- 17:22you know, what happened to her and ended up linking with some
- 17:26guys in New York and just got on a little state track and just
- 17:29learned a couple of things. And that was just like my first
- 17:33taste of it, right? And, and I just just fell in
- 17:40love with it. And it was just like, this is me
- 17:42doing something that I wanted to do and, and, and to be
- 17:45completely honest with you, at that particular time of my life,
- 17:48I was in like in a standstill in my military career.
- 17:51So I really, really, truly, truly, in my heart of hearts,
- 17:56really want to go get out the military and try to pursue that
- 17:59because I was in my mind, I was thinking, I can always come back
- 18:01in the military, but at the same time, I had kids.
- 18:05So it's just like, like, how could I?
- 18:07And I was just like, man, I need to provide for my kids, man.
- 18:11That's, that's a hobby. That's something that I'm
- 18:12passionate about, but that's not something that I need to put too
- 18:16much interest in. You know, I need to just, you
- 18:19know, and when I get the opportunity, pay the money to
- 18:21get on the track, do what I need to do.
- 18:24My responsibility came forward. But I I retired now, so I got
- 18:27time, you know what I mean? You listen man, and, and, and
- 18:31you know, you're not alone in that.
- 18:32I, you know that, you know, I, it's funny, I was just in Rd.
- 18:35Atlanta this past weekend and you know, I've said, I think
- 18:39I've said on the show once or twice that like I would like to
- 18:41race in Motor America. And you know, one of the guys
- 18:44from Loudon let Sergio, you know, he's been fortunate enough
- 18:47to be able to race in Motor America a couple of rounds,
- 18:50although he had some bad luck, at least he, you know, he had
- 18:52the opportunity to get there. So it, it, it, it there's a lot
- 18:55of folks that like, you know, feel we got the skill set, you
- 18:59know what I mean? And, and life, life happens,
- 19:02right? And, and for one reason or
- 19:03another. And you know that you, you know,
- 19:05but you know, you're tempted by like, yeah, you know what?
- 19:09I like to see how I stack up, you know that, you know what I
- 19:13mean? And stuff like that.
- 19:14So I, I get where you're coming from, you know, from, from that
- 19:18mindset because I, I think there's in all categories of, of
- 19:22in all walks of life, that people, that life happens and we
- 19:25don't get that chance to be like, yeah, but I think I can
- 19:28compete at that level. So now you, you get past that
- 19:34and, but you've been to the track and stuff like that.
- 19:36So like when did you start racing?
- 19:41Me personally racing I I have never like actually raced.
- 19:44I just did like a couple track days.
- 19:46Oh man, we got to get to racing, man, we got to racing.
- 19:50Yeah, I. Need to got you got you so like
- 19:53what what what is it like going to the track for you, you know,
- 19:58being on the streets for so long and stuff like that, Like what
- 20:01what what what's that like going to the track and and where do
- 20:04you see yourself now as far as like, you know, I guess what's
- 20:10holding you back from racing, but like.
- 20:14Maybe because I want another motorcycle right?
- 20:18I only have one motorcycle now right, so I have a 2016 Ducati
- 20:221299. That's the only motorcycle I
- 20:24have right and I've told myself this year I want to purchase ARS
- 20:29V4 so I can make my 1299 my track bike right.
- 20:33So once I get my second bike, because I like right now, my
- 20:39bike is right currently right now in the Ducati shop in Austin
- 20:42and I'm supposed to pick it up sometime this week and just get
- 20:46some stuff done. But once I get the second bite,
- 20:49I'm really looking forward to making the the 1299 my official
- 20:53track, right? Yeah, you know, I will say this
- 21:00and probably a lot of some listeners listening, you know,
- 21:04I'll, I'll probably say keep you 1299 and, and, and, and buy a
- 21:09small bike, you know, get, get it, get it, get a, get AR-3 or
- 21:14Ninja 400 and or, you know, I, I race a couple of small KTM RC3
- 21:19nineties, you know what I mean? And, and I, I didn't start that
- 21:22way when I started racing. I started on SV650.
- 21:25I went to AR-6, did R6 for about 5 years, you know, it got
- 21:31bruised up and battered up and he, he realized I wanted to work
- 21:34on my body position and stuff like that and riding.
- 21:36So I went down to the RRR, the, the RC three 90s and they've
- 21:41been great for me, you know, because it, it's forcing me to
- 21:44do all the right things. But the other cool thing is that
- 21:48man, you know, on a small bike you can get a set of tires and
- 21:52them tires can last you for a little bit, you know?
- 21:57What I'm saying? So like like can I, should I
- 22:00change tires every weekend or can I add more races to a
- 22:05weekend on a smaller bike? You know what I'm saying?
- 22:07So like you can get, you know, like I got into my SV like you
- 22:11know, for like 2800 bucks right back in 2013, right And it's
- 22:15already race ready. So, you know, all safety wire,
- 22:18all the holes are drilled, 'cause that sucks.
- 22:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you're not done that, you
- 22:23know it sucks, right? So it's like it it, you know,
- 22:29you can move, you can always get the bigger bike.
- 22:31But I think that like getting into racing, if you get on a
- 22:35small bike, you don't have to worry about modulating your
- 22:39power. You can just be full power.
- 22:42You just got to worry about your bottom position.
- 22:43Am I tuck? Am I coming off the bike?
- 22:45Am I hitting my breaking markers, my entries, my exits?
- 22:48Am I doing all the right things? And once you master that for a
- 22:51year or two, and I was probably always say keep a small bike
- 22:54because you can always just go to the mini tracks just to train
- 22:56on and then get the bigger bike. And then you don't have to.
- 23:00Me like when I went from my SV650 to the R6, I mean, I was
- 23:05in the last place for like a year and a half, two years just
- 23:08trying to learn how to just ride that bike, you know what I mean?
- 23:11And and I, I had to buy a street bike just to get more St. time
- 23:15because I mean, I got a track in my backyard.
- 23:17So like with my practice, right. So I, I bought AI, bought a
- 23:23second RR 6 so I can just get used to riding AR 6 and changing
- 23:28gears and get comfortable and all of the stuff where like if I
- 23:32was on a smaller bike, I wouldn't have to worry about the
- 23:34power, you know what I mean? I just got to worry about just
- 23:37learning how to ride. And, and that's the cool thing
- 23:40about like, you see these young kids, they're all on small
- 23:42bikes. So they all get to learn how to
- 23:43ride and then they move up to the big bikes and they don't
- 23:45have to worry about learning how to ride.
- 23:46They just got to worry about the power and when they're going to
- 23:49turn on and off the gas. You know what I'm saying?
- 23:53So which, you know, like I said, if you've only been on the track
- 23:56track a couple of times, you know, get a ninja 400 that
- 24:00somebody's selling, ride it for a couple of years, learn how to
- 24:03ride, you know, Chuck it down the road a couple of times.
- 24:07And and then like I, I'm gonna put, I'm gonna put my 12999 out
- 24:10on the track and you'll, and at that point you'll like that.
- 24:14I don't know how much riding you have.
- 24:16You like street riding, but the street, you know, St. riding is
- 24:19different than track riding. You know, track riding is, is
- 24:23being able to do same thing over and over and over and over and
- 24:27over and over because it's the same thing now.
- 24:32I want to say this, I even though I'm not, you know, I
- 24:36haven't brought it out here. So to say like since I've been
- 24:40like like since I retired in Texas, like, but listen, like I
- 24:45will drag my knee. I got 4 Leathers.
- 24:46I will get busy on the street. I've done it before.
- 24:49I've done it before and I no doubt you said what?
- 24:54No. No, I said no doubt.
- 24:56Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 24:57Yeah, but I know it's not safe. I know it's not safe, you know?
- 25:01But it's fun to do every now and then and I really want to get
- 25:06back into just like teaching people how to ride too, because
- 25:11there's a lot of youngsters out here that don't know how to
- 25:14ride. They just know how to swing the
- 25:16throttle. No, no body positioning.
- 25:19No, they don't understand body position.
- 25:22They don't understand what they do with their legs.
- 25:24Like even taking it even deeper to learning how to work out
- 25:28properly to ride your motorcycle.
- 25:31Yeah, yeah. And and I wasn't saying it, I
- 25:33didn't say all that to say based on your skill set.
- 25:35It's more more like on the cost second side, just the oh,
- 25:38absolutely. Oh no.
- 25:39No, no, no. Yeah, yeah, I'm not.
- 25:40Yeah, yeah, it was definitely not my question.
- 25:43Your skill set. It was more like just get the
- 25:45cheapest bike and go ride, you know, That's all I was.
- 25:50I know I need to, I definitely need to.
- 25:52It's just, I think like just to be completely transparent, I
- 25:56think my ego gets in a way because I if I pass, I've talked
- 26:00a lot of trash about people that ride 4 hundreds and three
- 26:02hundreds. And I think it's just like
- 26:04something that I need to just retract back from having that
- 26:08mentality to get one to really, you know, spend the money to
- 26:12actually get on the track and actually ride for real.
- 26:15But I think that's that. I think that's what the the
- 26:18issue is. It's my ego.
- 26:19It has nothing to do with anything else with that.
- 26:21Because I've been running my mouth talking trash about like,
- 26:24you got a 500, you, you got a 400.
- 26:27But in all actuality, that's really what I need.
- 26:30You know what I'm saying? Like, listen man, I.
- 26:33I. Yeah, I like, in hindsight, I, I
- 26:37wish I would have kept the 6:50 for a lot longer and just learn
- 26:40how to be quicker because I spent a lot of years and I also
- 26:44got injured. But I still spent a lot of years
- 26:46just kind of like, you know, learning how to ride but also
- 26:49trying to control the power. And, you know, and that's just a
- 26:52600, you know, not even 1000, right?
- 26:54And and you know a 601, when you wind a 600 up, it's like the
- 27:00Tasmanian devil. Yeah, it is, It is.
- 27:04And you know, like I went from that 2008 ZX6R to R1 and the
- 27:11reason why it was just time for me to upgrade because I just, I
- 27:15was just doing, I was just being totally ultra ignorant doing
- 27:20stupid stuff on that 600. And I was just, I needed to be
- 27:23humbled. I needed to be humbled again.
- 27:25And I ended up getting a 2012 R one right after that.
- 27:29I had, I think it was like, yeah, I ended up getting that
- 27:32and that humbled me. Oh, yeah, no, same here.
- 27:35Same here. I mean, like my, my, my first
- 27:38bike was at 8:48. My second bike was my 1198.
- 27:41You know what I'm saying? It was like, you know, I didn't
- 27:46buy three hundreds until 2021 and I've been around.
- 27:49Oh, OK, same thing. Same thing, you know.
- 27:54What I'm saying, so that's what I'm saying like, you know, I had
- 27:56to like, you know, I, I, you know, I crashed in 2018, you
- 28:01know, I illustrated my spleen got, I had to get cut open and
- 28:04get surgery, got screw in my hand and all that stuff.
- 28:08And, and you know, I, I went back racing the next year
- 28:11because I just was stubborn and, and so while my hand wasn't
- 28:16healed, I was still racing. But then I was compensating.
- 28:20So by that, like by September of the following, yeah, I was like,
- 28:23OK, I don't feel any pain, but now my body position is all off,
- 28:27you know what I'm saying? And and so I had to like, you
- 28:30know, it was like I can continue on the 600 and try to comp fix
- 28:33my body position or go to a smaller bike.
- 28:36And and so it took me almost like, I mean, I guess I started
- 28:39riding 2012 racing 20/13/2021. I bought my first small bike.
- 28:48Yeah, yeah, no, no doubt. Ego, ego for sure.
- 28:51And, and in hindsight, looking back, it was like, yeah, I
- 28:54should have kept the 6th SV for like a few more years and, and
- 28:58just for you to learn how to continue to ride and stuff like
- 29:00that. But, but I'll say this, going to
- 29:03the small bikes and doing that for a few years now I'm like,
- 29:07OK, I feel good because now I like, I'm doing all the right
- 29:10things now I can break later, you know what I'm saying?
- 29:12Now I'm getting on the gas sooner, I can carry more corner
- 29:15speed and, and stuff like that. So, you know, and, and for some
- 29:19people, they can jump on the big bikes and figure all that out,
- 29:22right? I'm not going to, I can't speak
- 29:23for anyone. I can, I can only speak for
- 29:25myself. But going back down to a small
- 29:27bike that really folk kept me tough because trust me, you hold
- 29:31your head up just a little bit, you're going slower.
- 29:36I will say this, like you, what was this?
- 29:40I got stationed in Korea from 2017 to 2019, right?
- 29:46I did they. Told Nice places so far I.
- 29:49Have I? Agree man.
- 29:54The first year I got the career they had like it had a track day
- 30:00at this tracking career right, You can rent the Leathers 600
- 30:04and I I remember this like it was yesterday right.
- 30:09I came out there roll did everything I needed to do and
- 30:13the guy you know, at the translator like because it was
- 30:16it was through like the MWR thing, like for like you have to
- 30:18have a licensed military welfare and recreation, right.
- 30:22And I do mean to cut you off. I people say not to cut you off
- 30:25and cut people off. But I had somebody else on the
- 30:29show, Jordan. And that's the thing apparently
- 30:32with the military like like covering like safety for going
- 30:37to the track and track day stuff.
- 30:40I don't think that's been told that like it's not known more
- 30:43because I'm pretty sure a lot of kids here and like listen to go
- 30:45to the military, you can learn. Yeah, so it's a weird thing that
- 30:50happened, right? So like, you know, you got young
- 30:52men and young women, they deploy, they deploy, they go for
- 30:56a year and they come back and have probably the most money
- 30:59they ever seen ever in their life in their account.
- 31:01And all of a sudden they got money to burn and they buy these
- 31:04expensive motorcycles, right? And, you know, they never really
- 31:08had proper training to ride. And, you know, a lot of
- 31:11fatalities and injured soldiers that ended their careers ride a
- 31:15motorcycle. So the military caught up, you
- 31:18know, the MSF course, and they caught up to try to help
- 31:22soldiers, you know, to ride better.
- 31:25So like, hey, look, we can't stop you from purchasing this,
- 31:27but we can help, aid and assist you to learn how to do what you
- 31:31want to do better. And, you know, I'm just
- 31:33fortunate, fortunate to be in some, you know, great places and
- 31:38to know enough people to network, to let me know about
- 31:41certain things that was going on while I was in the military.
- 31:43And I took full advantage of it, full advantage of it.
- 31:46Awesome. Yeah.
- 31:48Yeah, yeah. No, that's, I, I mean, you know,
- 31:51I almost went to the military. I, I, I had a kid young and I,
- 31:55and I didn't go, but like, but that's cool.
- 31:58Like it's just like, you know, cuz for, you know, again, I'm
- 32:02not saying that's the reason to go, but like it's good to know
- 32:04if you're into bikes. Oh yeah, for sure.
- 32:08They, they recently just had one of the guys and the, the big
- 32:11post down here not too far, maybe 20 miles from me where I
- 32:14retired at it's Fort Hood. They had a, they had the guy to
- 32:18bring the big simulator out there, man, the big like Moto GP
- 32:22simulator and it was like a big ordeal.
- 32:24OK, that's what's up. That's what's up.
- 32:28Yeah, man, It, it, it so. Yeah.
- 32:30So. So where else have you gotten to
- 32:32ride motorcycles? You know, besides, you know,
- 32:37Hawaii, Korea, US. Well, New York.
- 32:43Taylor the dragon. Taylor the dragon.
- 32:46I haven't. Done that yet?
- 32:47I've been invited and and I know some friends that have gone and
- 32:51scheduling wise it hasn't worked out for me but I know that's the
- 32:53place I want to hit. Oh yeah, for sure, babe.
- 32:55My, I've done it and my dad has done it.
- 32:59My dad did it before me and I was stationed there.
- 33:02Get in, get in. Yeah.
- 33:05Nice, nice, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:07So. Yeah, go ahead.
- 33:10All, all of Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina,
- 33:16Virginia, Texas, and maybe that's it.
- 33:24That's it. Like, you know, I did some stuff
- 33:26overseas, but that wasn't like actually my motorcycle, but you
- 33:29know, scooters and stuff with that.
- 33:31It was fun. I rode scooters in Thailand.
- 33:33That was fun, though scary before.
- 33:36Got you, got you. You know, I, I went to Italy to
- 33:39go to Moto GP and drive around. I, you should go.
- 33:45I saw it. But like I did about 20, I did
- 33:48over 2400 miles in a Fiat standard.
- 33:53And I started from Venice and went all the way down to the MI
- 33:57Fi coast, stopping off at different places and then went
- 34:00to Florence and then drove back and forth from Florence to the
- 34:02racetrack. And let me tell you the the
- 34:05people that go to the racetrack, they be they be on it.
- 34:09Oh, yeah. So let me ask you a quick
- 34:13question. So did you go to CODA this year?
- 34:18I did not go this year. OK.
- 34:20Have you been to Coda? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:21I went last year and I went in 2019.
- 34:24OK, I, I, I, I, I was there last year too.
- 34:27So like, how is the crowd, the fans, the American crowd versus
- 34:33the European fans? How is it?
- 34:35Well, I'll say this. So I I've been fortunate enough
- 34:38to go to Aston. So Aston was my first track.
- 34:40I did that in 27th Union Rossi won.
- 34:43That was that. I mean, that was it was chilly,
- 34:45it was cold, but you know the scene on the podium after a long
- 34:49time. This is last as I think that was
- 34:50the last win that it's a different crowd.
- 34:55When I went there, you know, it was just, it was chill and, and
- 34:59I did VIP there and it it was stuffy and I'm not chill.
- 35:03It was stuffy. It was just like I'm, you know,
- 35:05you know, I don't know if you, you know, you go to any like, I
- 35:09don't know, any training session already assembly and there's
- 35:12people from everywhere and it's just kind of like tight.
- 35:17And then I go to Mojelo and Mojelo was, you know, like if
- 35:23you, if you know what dream weekend is or anything like that
- 35:26in Jamaica, Mojelo, you know, party.
- 35:33I, I so I, I, I had a hotel in Florence and I was going back
- 35:37and forth to that. And I wish I had a, a camper and
- 35:40just stayed at the track. That's how much I was like what
- 35:44I I leave in I'm just like, oh, this looks like it's going to be
- 35:46fun you. Know.
- 35:51What I'm saying, and I didn't realize you could camp out at
- 35:54the track at A, at a like a Moto GP weekend.
- 35:58So I think if I get to go back to Mojelo or some of these
- 36:01tracks, I'll probably camp out at the track.
- 36:04And, and like you hear the stories of, you know, France,
- 36:10the, the, the, the, I don't know what the track is called, but
- 36:13the, the French GP, you know, the partying that's going on at
- 36:163:00 in the morning, we hear these writers complaining that
- 36:18they hear the singing and everything that's going on.
- 36:21Like you want to be part of that.
- 36:23Right, right, right, right. Because last year, when Zarko
- 36:28won, Yeah, exactly, yeah. Yeah, when he was.
- 36:31Yeah, exactly. So when he was when he was
- 36:33saying all that, right. So so you so for me so far, like
- 36:39Mojelo is that track like I think it's an experience that
- 36:42you you should experience the fact that they when they run
- 36:44down like I was on the start finish line and like when they
- 36:48ran down after the after the you know, and you know, Rossi was on
- 36:53on on it was I think it was Rossi Divisioso and and Lorenzo
- 36:57or somebody was on the track or something like that one that
- 36:59round or something like that. But when they when they all
- 37:03leave the hill and come down to the start finish, you know,
- 37:05that's crazy to see and the atmosphere like that energy.
- 37:10I mean, it's like college football, like level when they
- 37:13got like 80,000 people in the stadium or something like that.
- 37:16That's what it that's what it you like.
- 37:17You can like you can feel the energy.
- 37:20And I don't think we are there yet at at Assen.
- 37:24You know, I'm not asking that Austin.
- 37:26I don't think we're there yet. But I also heard like some of
- 37:29the, the, the, the, the tracks in Spain, also unbelievable to
- 37:33go to. I heard Valencia is unbelievable
- 37:34to go to at the end of the year as well, you know, But you know
- 37:39the records that they have in their tracks now, you know,
- 37:41100,000, I think when I went, it was over 100,000 people when I
- 37:44went. But we having over 100,000
- 37:46people at an event, it's going to be insane.
- 37:51And you know, this is one of the things we talked about on the on
- 37:54the show is in, in as far as the US.
- 37:57We got to build that out. You know what I'm saying?
- 37:59We like like that needs to have that.
- 38:00We, we need to get to college level in attendance because I
- 38:05know that I don't know what it was this past year.
- 38:08I think last year was under 60,000 or something like that.
- 38:11And we need, we need like 40,000 more people to show up.
- 38:14Oh, absolutely. And, and, and, and show out, you
- 38:17know what I'm saying? Because, you know, the US is,
- 38:21you know, one of the premier countries from for Moto GP, you
- 38:26know what I'm saying? Like, you know, in the 80s and
- 38:2890s, you know, we were sunning everybody.
- 38:32But but the thing I think that would really help Moto GP, it is
- 38:39the, the, the, the grass roots like support Moto America.
- 38:44Like a lot of fans don't support Moto America.
- 38:47And, and I think like if they supported Moto America, if more
- 38:51fans would be likely to come out to a coded race like I'm, I'm
- 38:55going like I'm looking forward to, I think I'm going to be able
- 38:58to make the race in Birmingham next, next month.
- 39:02I think the one in Barbara's. I think.
- 39:07And I'm looking forward to when they come here to Texas.
- 39:09I think those are two races I'm going to make.
- 39:12OK, I'm hoping to, I'm hoping to be there for both.
- 39:15So yeah, definitely, if you make it, man, definitely let's
- 39:18connect. Yeah.
- 39:20And, and I think that's nothing. That's the goal of this show.
- 39:26I know that's the goal of like, you know, Penguin and Woodcraft
- 39:31and a lot of track days people track day organization there a
- 39:35lot of folks that are invested in building back up racing in
- 39:39the US because it it, it, it's a huge decline from a sport as far
- 39:45as me. When when you look at the global
- 39:46sport and especially where, you know, where these riders were,
- 39:50you know, before, before, you know, us now and, and we see
- 39:53with the young riders and stuff like that.
- 39:55So I, I think it's going to get there.
- 39:57I don't know how quickly it will get there, but I do feel like,
- 40:02you know, there's enough, there's people who are, are, are
- 40:05thinking about that and, and trying to do it.
- 40:08So, I mean, I think that, yeah, I think it's, it's, it's getting
- 40:11better than it was. And, and hopefully, you know,
- 40:15we'll, we'll be a, you know, we'll be a one of the main
- 40:19stops, right, Like it used to be, you know what I'm saying?
- 40:21Like, you know, when, when you know, you know, you think of
- 40:25these riders in the US, that's change that, you know, that
- 40:28change motorcycle racing globally.
- 40:32And then, you know, now we're seeing that what, you know, safe
- 40:34to say what Spain, Italy's doing, you know, but the US used
- 40:38to do that. Right.
- 40:41Yeah, they they had the the what was the the four Kings where
- 40:45they just ran it all like, you know, seen bringing Roberts,
- 40:52Robert. You know, Roberts, Swans, you
- 40:58know these guys. You know, obviously Blake,
- 41:01great, Nikki, Hayden later, you know, we saw, you know what, you
- 41:10know, and and and yeah, you know, we saw what these guys
- 41:14were able to do and stuff like that.
- 41:16So I mean, I, I, you know, it, I, I again, I think that it's
- 41:21changing. I don't know what the mindset
- 41:23was to not have kids on bikes, but I think it was more parents
- 41:29sitting here saying you're not going racing.
- 41:32Oh, they're right. That's exactly what it is than.
- 41:35Anything else, it's. Not cost effective.
- 41:40It wasn't. Anything I think we got to get
- 41:42behind some. I think the the only person you
- 41:45know, like we were hoping Joe Roberts was, was going to be
- 41:47able to do something. But I think the only person
- 41:50that's you know, in line to do something is the young kid with
- 41:55KDJR. Yeah, I, I, I think, I think, I
- 41:58think so I think he's, he's a guy, but I think there's a lot
- 42:01of kids in the US too now. And, you know, I think he's in,
- 42:07you know, he's in the AAU right, of motorcycle racing.
- 42:10So he's in the best place to, to take advantage.
- 42:14You know, I think, I think I, I, you know, I, I think any kid in
- 42:19the US that's racing a motorcycle that's on asphalt
- 42:24want to be in Spain or Italy right now.
- 42:26Oh. Absolutely.
- 42:27You know, they want to be put, you know, the cost and and and
- 42:32these things is is what's limited in limiting, you know,
- 42:36families and stuff like that. And that's the biggest thing.
- 42:40You know, looking looking at the race at Rd.
- 42:42Atlanta and and seeing Darren Bender and I'm sitting here
- 42:45saying Darren Bender is the benchmark for the highest level.
- 42:49But the guys been in Moto 2, Moto 3 and Moto GP right.
- 42:54So if if we're going to compare anybody to just.
- 42:57Like SDKSDK was right there. Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
- 43:01And and we see the talent that's able to run with him, right.
- 43:05So, so we know the talent's here like after this weekend, like
- 43:08we. And again, you know, he's, yeah,
- 43:10Darren Ben is not Marc Marquez. But you know, you don't have to
- 43:13be Marc Marquez to make it to Moto GP.
- 43:16Absolutely. Right, so you know, so I looking
- 43:21at that and and walking away from that and this is just
- 43:23middle weight, right? It's like the, the, the talent
- 43:27is definitely here already. It's the financing.
- 43:31It's the financing, right? Because at the end of the day,
- 43:33it's like if you can get a rider in there and give them, give
- 43:36them and everybody evolve at different times.
- 43:39But if you get a rider in there and give them enough time where
- 43:42they don't have to worry about, you know, is my lights getting
- 43:45turned off this weekend, you know?
- 43:48What I'm? Saying, yeah, we, we're going,
- 43:52we're going to see something different.
- 43:55Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
- 43:58You know, so I, I, I do see like we're getting better and, and,
- 44:02and I'm wishing like, I don't know him.
- 44:05I, I've chatted to the dad a couple of times on social media
- 44:08and stuff like that. I, I do hope he does.
- 44:11I, I wish just for every kid. I, I, I, I hope that you get to
- 44:15live out your dreams, right? I mean, that's what.
- 44:16We all, absolutely. You know, I mean, that's what we
- 44:18all, that's what we all do, what we do for and stuff like that.
- 44:22But you know, the reality, it is reality is the kids that jump on
- 44:28the sport the soonest gets the most chance of getting there,
- 44:34you know, 'cause they just got more hours, like as Kobe said,
- 44:36right? It's just, you can't catch up to
- 44:38me if you're not putting in the same hours.
- 44:41And, and, and so we see that. So I'm, I'm, I am excited for
- 44:45what things are, but I do hope in the future that their MO
- 44:50American and, and, and Moto GP do have funding and stuff like
- 44:56that to, to try to get more Americans in.
- 45:00I mean, you know, it's, it's, it may not be enough to convince
- 45:04somebody to take that chance, but at least they recognize that
- 45:08they got to do something out there.
- 45:09So I think if, I think if corporations on this side can
- 45:15see the value in having the US on the world stage again in a
- 45:22motorcycle racing and Formula One, you know, I, I, that's what
- 45:27it's going to take. It's going to take who it is to,
- 45:30to get into that to, to get to that level.
- 45:32So hopefully we'll see. But I know the people are doing
- 45:36everything they can. We see kids now doing more
- 45:39racing than ever. So therefore that that that fear
- 45:43is not the same as it was I think 1520 years ago.
- 45:47So we see the kids are trying and now we just got to get, we
- 45:50just got to finance and figured out.
- 45:53So they get the opportunity to really shine.
- 45:56Yeah, I believe that too. I think it's if it can match the
- 46:01cost of, you know, enough sponsors to somebody to like
- 46:05spot their talent, to help aid in the system, then we could
- 46:08have something, some someone to represent on the world stage.
- 46:14Because you think about it like Cameron Boubier and Mark Marquez
- 46:18were teammates. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:22No. And, and you know, I, I give him
- 46:23a little crap on the show. He doesn't know it, but I give
- 46:26him a little crap on the show because I I wish he would have
- 46:28stayed. Yeah, I wish he would have too.
- 46:30We we need it and it's not fair for me because I'm just sitting
- 46:33at home. So I could, yeah, man, Josh.
- 46:36Josh had the opportunity. Josh Aaron had the opportunity,
- 46:39too. You know what I'm saying?
- 46:41So it is, it takes a, you know, I'm not, I'm not fault.
- 46:45I get why you want to come home. I get it.
- 46:47And it's easy, you know, like, listen, I like I said already
- 46:50and I said on the show, I sat in the back of the grid for a long
- 46:55time and so I noticed like it doesn't feel good, you know what
- 47:00I'm saying? So it's much easier to get to
- 47:04walk up on those three steps than it is to pack up and, and
- 47:08wonder what happened, right. So, but you know, you know, but
- 47:15I, it's where it is and, and everyone has to make a their
- 47:20sacrifice. And I know he's made the
- 47:21sacrifice because he was there already.
- 47:24Same thing with Joe Roberts. I know you mentioned him
- 47:26earlier. And I think the Joe Roberts, I
- 47:28think that, you know, if, if I'm understanding it correctly, I
- 47:33think he had the opportunity to go when the early year was kind
- 47:36of bad, maybe bad, mostly bad and, and do a lot.
- 47:40There was some Moto 2 riders that were like, we ain't going.
- 47:43And I think, you know, that they're being, they're being
- 47:46held by that decision to not go, even though they have the skill
- 47:50set to go. And I think Joe Roberts is one
- 47:52of those riders that they're just sitting here, you know,
- 47:54they're just icing them out because he didn't take the
- 47:57opportunity. And, you know, look, I, I know,
- 48:04you know, I know we got to stand on business because there's a
- 48:08lot of good that goes with standing on business.
- 48:12But sometimes we got to make exceptions to the rules.
- 48:15And, and I think, and, and I think in Joe Roberts case,
- 48:18that's an, you know, that's an exception to a rule because, you
- 48:21know, mentally, if you're on a bad machine, not everybody, not
- 48:26not everybody could be on a bad team and still get up every day
- 48:29and give 100%. OK.
- 48:31What you do in life, no matter whatever it is that you're
- 48:33doing, if you know your team is bad, you going to wake up and
- 48:36give 100 or you going to wake up and give 60 or whatever.
- 48:39Right. It just depend on how you feel,
- 48:41yeah. So you know what I'm saying?
- 48:43Like, you know, and I don't think that's something that
- 48:45should be held against them, but I know the Grayson community is
- 48:48that community that listen, when you're no matter what you do, if
- 48:52you're with us, no matter how bad you are, you're always with
- 48:55us, right? And so they do do that and, and
- 48:59and and so. But if you go against us, you
- 49:01also know we're not with you after that, right, I think.
- 49:05I think Joe Roberts and Aaron Connect probably go retire in
- 49:08Moto 2. Yeah.
- 49:10No, I, I think that, you know, I, I, I think, I think connect
- 49:15will be, I, I hope connect will be in Moto in world super bike
- 49:18next year. And I think he probably had the
- 49:21opportunities too, but I think he probably said, I'll give it
- 49:23one more. And so I hope he gets to world
- 49:27Super bike. I hope the same thing for Joe
- 49:29Roberts because after watching this past weekend and seeing all
- 49:33these Moto 2 and Moto GP riders in it, it's it's different than
- 49:38when Tito Roubey was coming over and and stuff like that.
- 49:42There's some killers coming out. So I think that Joe Roberts, you
- 49:48can still, I mean, he's, I mean, he's in the books anyway, but
- 49:51like, I think he could still got a chance to go win, you know,
- 49:54world titles on the Super sport on the Super bike stage.
- 49:58Same thing with with Kinet and and stuff like that, because
- 50:02Kinet's pretty much the same weight as Batista.
- 50:05So, you know, I like, I like person on a bike is always going
- 50:10to be faster. That's one thing for sure.
- 50:16Maybe not downhill, but definitely anywhere else.
- 50:22So, so yeah. So we'll, we'll, we'll see what
- 50:24happens with that man. So, so, yeah, man.
- 50:28So with, with that said you, you've done some track days and,
- 50:31and you're looking to come out and, and, and, and race and, and
- 50:36be competitive. And it sounds like you're doing
- 50:38a little bit with a little bit of coaching as well.
- 50:41So, you know, and, and not only that, but you know, I, I you're
- 50:44also on the social media piece as well.
- 50:46So talk a little bit about that, you know, the the, the other
- 50:49things that you're doing in the community and stuff like that.
- 50:53Yeah, so one thing I wanted, I think like I've been riding for
- 50:59a while and like following Moto GP and I just, I think it was
- 51:04like closer. I was like going through the
- 51:05retirement process. And I think I posted something
- 51:09about me doing something on my motorcycle on my Instagram page.
- 51:12And I just got the wild idea of just just starting to do
- 51:16something on YouTube. And I posted my first post was
- 51:20like I think like Dakota race maybe like 2 years ago when I
- 51:24was getting ready to retire. And.
- 51:26Man, I got like maybe like 45,000 views and I was like
- 51:30whoa, maybe I'm on to something. And you know, I follow the sport
- 51:35and I feel like just just me of who I am.
- 51:38And every day that I wake up, I feel even though I know other
- 51:41people know the sport, but I feel like nobody knows the sport
- 51:46like me. That's not me, I feel.
- 51:48Like I had nobody as far as like history of the sport and, you
- 51:52know, just watching the riders and like, especially Bodo GP
- 51:55because I've just been following it for so long and I'm just, I
- 51:58have truly indulged myself into the sport of like actually
- 52:01loving the sport outside of anything else that has to do
- 52:05with any other sport. And I just really zoned in and
- 52:08start to like work, work on something different because, you
- 52:13know, me being in the military, you know, I've never really had
- 52:17the opportunity to pursue my passion.
- 52:19It was always, hey, get up in the morning, 6:30 to whatever
- 52:23time o'clock I get home. And motorcycle racing has always
- 52:28been a part of me. So I just took upon myself that
- 52:31like really, you know, indulge myself into learning how to do
- 52:34edits and music and, you know, adding certain stuff and adding
- 52:39a little commentary to it. But and I attempted to do what
- 52:42you all did too, would be able be forever cool, but it just
- 52:45didn't work out for me. Like I couldn't I couldn't find
- 52:48a a a copilot that knew the sport like me and me trying to
- 52:52carry it by myself. I just couldn't do it.
- 52:54And so I just look forward to just like, you know, doing like
- 52:58cool videos and like catching some of my friends that do some
- 53:01cool stuff on motorcycles. But, and, but The thing is that
- 53:06I love to do is like edit videos for Moto GPI really love doing
- 53:09that. I really like capturing the
- 53:12sound of whatever's been going on leading up to the race.
- 53:16And, you know, and I like to do funny stuff too, because I feel
- 53:19I feel like I have a good sense of humor also.
- 53:22So I like to like if I see somebody do something funny, I
- 53:24want to try to edit it and add some kind of like motorcycle
- 53:28funny to it, you know? Yeah.
- 53:31And but I just, I, I just really like, you know, just giving a
- 53:36different face to certain stuff that's haven't been seen to the
- 53:39sport. Like you.
- 53:40Know not to you know, deep dive into that but a lot of people of
- 53:45color really don't go into the sport you.
- 53:49Know what I mean? They have things.
- 53:50That intrigues them far as and I just you know, I just found
- 53:54something that I like to do that I'm passionate about it
- 53:56regardless of what is going to do as long as I can tell you
- 53:59know my kids. Hey, look, regardless of
- 54:02regardless of what you have and going on in your life, if it's
- 54:06something that you want to do in your life, you got to at least
- 54:08try at least once. You got if you fail you, I mean,
- 54:11to me, you never really fail. You just not unless, you know,
- 54:15and and I feel like if you can't, you know, like, like, you
- 54:21know, the more mature and older people say like it's a lot of
- 54:23ideas in the grave, you know, and I don't want to be I don't
- 54:26want to be one of those people. I want to be able to be tell my
- 54:29kids at any time. I never want to tell them, Hey,
- 54:32don't do that. I don't know how it's going to
- 54:34come out. Nah, I want to you tell me how
- 54:36can I support you? And I want to be the example for
- 54:40Hey, hey, dad, dad went on a on a limb and try something that
- 54:44nobody has done before he did. OK.
- 54:47So like, I just want to be the, you know, try to be the example
- 54:50of, hey, if you're something that you want to do, try.
- 54:53Yeah, no, I I agree. I mean, you know that I agree.
- 54:57I agree with everything you just said because it's like, like I
- 55:00said, I, you know, like I saw racing on TV because I remember
- 55:04watching it on, on ABC World of Sports or whatever.
- 55:08I remember seeing that in the 80s, right?
- 55:09So I knew like racing was a thing for motorcycles.
- 55:12And it's crazy because I was a kid, like I wanted to race cars,
- 55:15so I knew racing was possible. But if whatever, I never made
- 55:18that correlation between that and racing motorcycles.
- 55:21So when I when like my friend told me about it, it was one of
- 55:24those things like, oh, you can do that, you know, and I
- 55:27realized, and then when I talked to more people in the in, in our
- 55:30community, it's like, yeah, they don't know you can do that.
- 55:34You know what I'm saying? And, and, and it's huge and, you
- 55:37know, so, and it's one of the reasons why this show got
- 55:40started because, you know, this, this like in Boston, I was doing
- 55:43a different show on, on the radio, you know, you know,
- 55:48cannabis and, and poetry and undiscovered music.
- 55:52But I was racing. So I wanted to talk about, I had
- 55:56this 5 minute segment where I'll talk about, you know, call
- 55:59motorcycle Corner, where I'll try to get like, you know, 5
- 56:03minutes of motorcycle stuff in right.
- 56:05And, and that kind of thing just to just to spread the word, you
- 56:08know, because it is, is, is there's a lot of people that
- 56:11don't know, like you could even motor America, like you can go
- 56:14watch a race, right? There's there's people that
- 56:17don't know you can just go do that and go hang out, camp out
- 56:20for the weekend and have a good time and stuff like that.
- 56:22And you know how, you know, comfortable or cool?
- 56:25The motorcycle community is as far as like, you know, it's like
- 56:28a, it's, it's a, it's a brotherhood, a sisterhood,
- 56:30right? You know, you, you, you know
- 56:33what I mean? And I didn't learn about it till
- 56:35my 40s, right. So it's kind of like, you know,
- 56:38and I'm talking to other people and they didn't know about it.
- 56:40So it, it's definitely like the word needs to get out and I know
- 56:45it is by you doing what you're doing, by what we're doing and
- 56:48stuff like that, because we recognize it.
- 56:50It's important. And you know, you know, I'm
- 56:53Jamaican first because I was born there, but I'm American.
- 56:56But I want to see a Jamaican emoto GP one day, you know, you
- 57:02know what I mean? Like that, that's, you know what
- 57:03I'm saying? Like that's, that's, that's what
- 57:05I want to see. But it doesn't matter because,
- 57:08you know, there there are a lot of skillful people, regardless
- 57:12of their color that don't get the opportunities to go do the
- 57:16things they love. And it's when you love us
- 57:18something like, you know, car race and motorcycle race and
- 57:22some of these other sports that's very expensive.
- 57:25It makes it very hard, you know, when you see these kids in the
- 57:29communities in in the cities and stuff like that, you know,
- 57:32riding their dirt bikes up and down and not knowing they can
- 57:35get a trailer or can't afford a trailer and truck or the time or
- 57:39anyone to take them anywhere. You literally can go somewhere
- 57:42and just have fun and not have to worry about whether you know,
- 57:45you know, you're going to hurt somebody or somebody going to
- 57:48hurt you. Because at the end of these kids
- 57:50just want to have fun. They just want to ride.
- 57:52They just can't. They just can't dirt or they
- 57:55can't get to a track, you know what I'm saying?
- 57:57And, and you know, and, and like, you know, I, I hope one
- 58:00day that like, you know, cities will, you know, build instead of
- 58:04a, you know, instead, but just build a place for dirt bikes to
- 58:08go to or you know what I'm saying?
- 58:11Because if you did that, these kids will show up.
- 58:14They, they'll be off the street. Once that open, they'll be off
- 58:16the streets. This is simple as that, because,
- 58:19you know, it's one lesson. They got to work.
- 58:21We have a. Lot we have a lot of I think
- 58:25it's like right outside of maybe 15 minutes down the road for me,
- 58:29it's a dirt track right down the.
- 58:30Road, Yeah, yeah, yeah, You know, I'm playing, right?
- 58:34But when I'm in Boston, man, dirt track is like 2 1/2 three
- 58:37hours. Yeah, I can imagine you.
- 58:39Know what I'm saying and like like I was fortunate in Boston
- 58:42because we had Loudon, but my next race track was Jersey,
- 58:46which was 6 1/2 hours. Wow.
- 58:48You know what I'm saying, New York safety, you can do track
- 58:50days, but you couldn't, you did not racing and, and even New
- 58:54York safety was still probably like 5 hours for me, you know
- 58:57what I'm saying? And and so, and that's the
- 58:59thing. So as an adult, that's why I
- 59:01could do it. I couldn't do it as a as a
- 59:0317/18/19 year old, you know, you got to do something.
- 59:07Else. You know what I mean?
- 59:11And, and so, and I think that like, like, look, so these kids,
- 59:14I mean, you know, it, it, I, I recognize that, that it's a
- 59:19problem, you know, and, but I think that hopefully like adults
- 59:23will solve it in the future. And, and a lot of cities where
- 59:27they don't have, you know, power line areas that they can go
- 59:31right up and down or enough acreage that they can ride up
- 59:34and down and not harass anybody. You know, they'll, they'll
- 59:37create these parks and, and these places where kids can go
- 59:40ride. You can have a ambulance, you
- 59:42know, parked up, a couple of ambulances parked up outside,
- 59:45just like the track. You know, there's enough grants
- 59:47and stuff out there to cover that stuff.
- 59:49So, you know, I think, I think there's enough funding that it's
- 59:53just having the right people look at it and see the
- 59:56opportunity to really help these kids.
- 59:58And trust me, like, like you know, it it it the.
- 1:00:02And it will look a lot different if if the the the motorcycle
- 1:00:05community will look a lot different if you know folks that
- 1:00:08can't afford to go ride and got the opportunity to go riding.
- 1:00:12Oh, for sure. You know.
- 1:00:14And I think like, I think one thing I love about the
- 1:00:18motorcycle community that, you know, like, especially the
- 1:00:21people that I hang around, I always want to give back to the
- 1:00:26people that like, I always want to give back.
- 1:00:28Hey, like, hey, you want to look, you want to go riding?
- 1:00:30You want to learn, like I saw you do something, you didn't
- 1:00:33take that turn good enough. Hey, you want to go ride?
- 1:00:35Let's let's go work on that. And that's one thing I love
- 1:00:38about the motorcycle community because like, man, I could just,
- 1:00:41and I don't want to, you know, go too personal, but man, the
- 1:00:45motorcycle community really, really, really, really help me
- 1:00:50out last year, man, help me out, man.
- 1:00:52Like man, I'm getting a little most of them, man, really helped
- 1:00:57me out last year. I lost my mom at the end of 2024
- 1:01:02about Thanksgiving, right, Man, the, the motorcycle community,
- 1:01:06they looked out for me, man, they you know what I mean?
- 1:01:09Like because I stay in Texas, I'm the only one in my family
- 1:01:11here in Texas and they really just like gathered around me
- 1:01:15like because there's a lot of times I used to have a help me
- 1:01:18full of tears, man, that's all I mean, because, you know, like
- 1:01:20when you're dealing with certain stuff like that, it's only a few
- 1:01:23people that you trust to talk about like who what's really
- 1:01:27going on with you emotionally, especially as a man.
- 1:01:29And there's a lot of times I highway 35 is like go from
- 1:01:33Dallas to Austin. I probably there's no, I, I know
- 1:01:37I burned up a lot of gas that's driving up and down 35 ahead.
- 1:01:40But, you know, when I finally opened up to talk to, you know,
- 1:01:44somebody about, you know, outside of like, you know, a
- 1:01:47therapist or something. Right, right, right.
- 1:01:48Sometimes therapist can be kind of robotic.
- 1:01:51They're going down the checklist, whatever, right?
- 1:01:54It's not no real emotional attachment to what you bring it
- 1:01:58to the table. Yeah, I think them and judges
- 1:02:01and the court system, they need like sabbaticals.
- 1:02:04Yeah, absolutely. So, so they can recharge, yeah.
- 1:02:08But the motorcycle community was there for me though, man.
- 1:02:11Yeah, they were there for me, man.
- 1:02:12They, they, they, you know, they, they were there for me.
- 1:02:17They were, they were able to like, you know, get me back on
- 1:02:20track, like, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:21Not saying I was had any mentally thing going on, but
- 1:02:24exactly. But just at the birth, you move
- 1:02:26somebody important like that in your life and you're looking,
- 1:02:28you're looking for comfort, you're looking for empathy,
- 1:02:31you're looking for it a certain level of, of love and affection
- 1:02:34towards you to help heal that inner part of you.
- 1:02:37And the motorcycle community was there for me, man.
- 1:02:39They were there for me, man. Like that still, I call it call
- 1:02:42anybody in my crew right now. They hey, man, I'm dealing with
- 1:02:45something. They'll, they'll pull up to the
- 1:02:46house, man. Hey, you know, but no, I
- 1:02:48haven't. Done that, but I.
- 1:02:49Know they would. But you know what I mean?
- 1:02:52Yeah, I've said this many times on the show.
- 1:02:54Like if the whole world's like the motorcycle community be a
- 1:02:56beautiful place because I like like I, I get so much love and
- 1:03:01I, you know, like I go, I can go stop anywhere on a bike and
- 1:03:04somebody be like, yo, you good. I do the same thing in my car.
- 1:03:07Ain't. Nobody stopping ain't.
- 1:03:10Nobody stopping. So it it, it, it's it.
- 1:03:13And I didn't realize like that level of what it was when you
- 1:03:17when you don't know about it and you haven't seen it, you know,
- 1:03:20first hand, like you don't know, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:23But like, once you're in it, it's just like, you know, and,
- 1:03:25and in raising community, you know, guys will give you parts
- 1:03:28just to go race next to you. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:31Or you know. Whatever.
- 1:03:33Yeah, yeah. It's like, yeah, it's, it's,
- 1:03:35it's, it's, it's amazing. You know, it's not perfect.
- 1:03:38I'm not sitting here trying to say it is.
- 1:03:39But it, you know, for the most part, the effort that people go
- 1:03:45through and, and I, you know, I, I can equate this to just go in
- 1:03:49and, and you can correct me if I'm wrong.
- 1:03:51It's like going into battle, right?
- 1:03:54It's, it's the, IT, you know, because for me and the reason
- 1:03:57why I say that, like when I first got to the track, you
- 1:04:01know, you know, there was a certain air in, in the paddocks,
- 1:04:06right? And, you know, and, and, and,
- 1:04:09you know, took a while to look for me to kind of like wrap my
- 1:04:11head around what was going on. And I knew it was different cuz
- 1:04:13it was a different movement. And, and what I realized is
- 1:04:16like, they're present, they're in the moment, Everybody's in
- 1:04:19the moment at once. It's a different, it's, it's a
- 1:04:22different, whole different thing when all of us are like in the
- 1:04:25moment, right? You can just feel that.
- 1:04:27And, and, and, and I think a gladiated movies and, and stuff
- 1:04:30like that. But you've been in, in, in, you
- 1:04:32did service and I'm sure you saw some things, but I, I, I soon
- 1:04:35you can tell me right or wrong. It's like it's that moment you
- 1:04:37feel what you're going to battle.
- 1:04:39You just move differently. Yeah, you do more precision,
- 1:04:43man. You see stuff different, man.
- 1:04:44It's, it's, it's like a laser focus, laser focus.
- 1:04:49And it's that you're absolutely right.
- 1:04:51It, it's that feeling that you have, man.
- 1:04:53It's just and, and everybody's on one accord.
- 1:04:57Like you can feel that everybody's on one accord.
- 1:04:59Everybody want to win like you, you, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:01Everybody, nobody, everybody want to win and nobody wants to
- 1:05:06see anybody get hurt, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:09Like everybody want to see you come back to the paddock.
- 1:05:11I might beat you, but I don't want to see you hurt, you know
- 1:05:13what I mean? Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 1:05:16So it is a beautiful community and I think that's why, you
- 1:05:19know, you and myself and others, I think we recognize that and,
- 1:05:24and West Coast guys are doing it every like, you know, that we,
- 1:05:28we like, it is a beautiful community and you know, like any
- 1:05:33other community, things happen, but it is a beautiful 1.
- 1:05:36And I think we're all trying to do to do our part in that.
- 1:05:40None of us are. You know, I'm not sitting here
- 1:05:41saying I'm going to retire off my podcast or anything like
- 1:05:43that, You know what I mean? Hey, hey, hey.
- 1:05:46You probably you weren't here to wait.
- 1:05:50That's how I think. Yeah.
- 1:05:51Yeah. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 1:05:53But you know, it's like, you know, I drove to Atlanta and
- 1:05:56it's weird for me because like, I like to be on a track, you
- 1:06:01know what I mean? Like, you know, for me, I, it's
- 1:06:04weird to go to a track and I'm not racing, you know, or riding
- 1:06:08on it, you know what I mean? Just like being a spectator is
- 1:06:10weird because, you know, I want to be on the track first.
- 1:06:15Like, it's not, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:06:18It's like if, if I could, if I can, if I can hang out with
- 1:06:21Rossi, Lorenzo, Marquez and, and we're eating at dinner.
- 1:06:25I'm like, if we can go to the track together, I'm like, sign
- 1:06:28me up. Yeah, you know what?
- 1:06:31I'm saying, come on, Rossi, let me come to the.
- 1:06:33Ranch. Exactly, Exactly.
- 1:06:34It's like, you know, I want to be.
- 1:06:35I'm a doer, you know, saying like, so you know, it, but it,
- 1:06:39it, I, I, you know, like I said, I'm a late bloomer to this
- 1:06:42community, but I like it a lot. And you know, we're, we're, you
- 1:06:45know, we're putting in our time into, into building it.
- 1:06:48And I'm trying to do my part in this thing because I, I really
- 1:06:50do think that more people need to know about it because it, it,
- 1:06:56it does it, it makes you feel better it.
- 1:07:01Does it does? You know what I'm saying, right?
- 1:07:03It's. It's and it's addictive too.
- 1:07:06Yeah. Oh.
- 1:07:10No, I, I know. Go ahead.
- 1:07:13No, go ahead. No, I talk all the time, man.
- 1:07:15Go ahead. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's
- 1:07:17addictive. I wish like after I left, even
- 1:07:21being at CODA, I was like, man, I wish I could be out there
- 1:07:23like, you know what I mean? Like, I wish I could be out
- 1:07:26there with Maverick. I was like, man, Maverick, let
- 1:07:29me let me jump. All right?
- 1:07:31I don't know. I was a little hung up after the
- 1:07:36coda, like because like we were there like the whole from
- 1:07:40Thursday to Sunday and man, it was man, I was just hung up or I
- 1:07:46was just like, and you I, I still talk to a couple of guys
- 1:07:48that's in a different cities and they're like, man, I, I miss
- 1:07:51Moto GP, but it was a good time. We had a blast, right?
- 1:07:54Every day, every day, just just hanging out at the track,
- 1:07:58spending money buying Birch. But it was fun and.
- 1:08:02It and. It's crazy, like how like, you
- 1:08:06know, like like you say the motorcycle community, like it
- 1:08:08was just and I seen old people like I mean like he was like had
- 1:08:12to be in like Amy's they out there with the Apria shirt, old
- 1:08:16Apria stuff on out there, man. I'm like, man, this is this.
- 1:08:21The whole world is here. No for sure.
- 1:08:24Yeah. No, no, for sure.
- 1:08:26It's funny, you know, when you, when you said about Vinyalla's.
- 1:08:29I got a good friend that he's always saying, look, man,
- 1:08:31listen, we'll just kidnap Marquez.
- 1:08:33You jump in his letter, keep your helmet down.
- 1:08:35Nobody knows you. Don't know.
- 1:08:51What's wrong with top good? There's something wrong with top
- 1:08:57good, right? Right.
- 1:08:59But he said. Like I don't know what the hell
- 1:09:02I'm doing. He hit a false neutral.
- 1:09:09Yeah, man, but no, I hear you about that.
- 1:09:11Like, you know, we all, we all, we all want to get out there
- 1:09:14and, and, and have fun no matter how old you are and just even
- 1:09:18like the experience. So even last year, you talk
- 1:09:20about the different folks that go watch it.
- 1:09:22I remember taking the, the, the ride from the Uber drop off to
- 1:09:27the track last year. And I was, you know, I really,
- 1:09:31you know, believe it or not, I don't, I usually don't talk to
- 1:09:33people. But for whatever reason, you
- 1:09:36know, I started talking to this guy and older guy guy gentleman.
- 1:09:39And he, you know, I just happened to ask like, you know,
- 1:09:43why, you know, how come, you know, brought you here?
- 1:09:44And he was just like, you know, I don't like motorcycles at all.
- 1:09:47But my son invited me. And, and so I decided to go
- 1:09:51because my son invited me. And I'm just kind of like, yeah,
- 1:09:54right. Because like there are people
- 1:09:57here or at events, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:09:59And they're there because there's someone they love to ask
- 1:10:03them to come or suggested going or something like that.
- 1:10:05So it is all walks of life that do come in and experience, you
- 1:10:10know, Moto GP, all Moto America and stuff like that.
- 1:10:14And, and, and it's pretty cool to see as a fan.
- 1:10:18It's pretty cool to see covering it as well.
- 1:10:20And, and hear stories like that and hear stories from different
- 1:10:22people because you know it, it's different for everyone.
- 1:10:25You know what I'm saying? Why?
- 1:10:26Why they show up to an event? Yeah.
- 1:10:30And it's a it's just cool to do like, next year.
- 1:10:34Like, so you've been to Coda. So next year they're trying to
- 1:10:37make that area a actual amusement park to, like, bring
- 1:10:40more people. So like yeah, but they about to
- 1:10:43privatize CODA though. Yeah, I heard, I, I heard that
- 1:10:48as well, but I also hear, heard they're going to build a second
- 1:10:51track. So sort of like Jersey where you
- 1:10:54got the 2 tracks at Jersey. So I so you may not be able to
- 1:10:58get on Coda, but you might be get on, you know, little Coda.
- 1:11:01Yeah. But they have they have they
- 1:11:03have a couple tracks. They have a couple tracks not
- 1:11:06to, you know, in San Antonio, I think they have a track.
- 1:11:08They got a track in El Paso. So it's it's places where people
- 1:11:12can race here in Texas, you know, but you know, you won't
- 1:11:16have that feeling like you about to overtake, overtake Marquez,
- 1:11:22like a coda or, you know, riding by the tower.
- 1:11:25But you know, like they said about to privatize it And, and
- 1:11:28you know what I had when you know, I had did the research on
- 1:11:32it, I did the research on how much it cost and I think it was
- 1:11:37like like for everything. I think it was like 70,770
- 1:11:43thousand for like to for CODA, right.
- 1:11:46And I was like, Hey, look, I think I forgot what I was like.
- 1:11:51I think I said like if we get 700 people to, you know, I mean
- 1:11:56a certain amount of people to pay $700.00, then we could do
- 1:11:58it. And even if even as I was like
- 1:12:01in the group saying like, man, that's a lot of money.
- 1:12:03But I'm just saying that the opportunity, man, it's.
- 1:12:06The. Opportunity like who?
- 1:12:07Who wouldn't pay? I know it, you know, sometimes
- 1:12:09$700.00 might be steep for some people, but it's an opportunity
- 1:12:14to ride on a professional track, man, that's, that's something
- 1:12:16that you could take to the grave with you or tell your great
- 1:12:19grandkids, hey, look, I've been on that track before.
- 1:12:22Here's what I was on it, you know.
- 1:12:24Yeah, I'll, I'll, I'll say sign me up because that's exactly
- 1:12:27what I want to do. I got a bucket list of tracks
- 1:12:30that I want to go to and code is 1 of them.
- 1:12:33My pentagali's built being built just to go through track days
- 1:12:37and I just wanted to go get all on the big, all the big tracks
- 1:12:41in the US once I'm done in the US shipping that bike to Europe
- 1:12:43and I'm going to do the same thing.
- 1:12:45Yeah, You know what I'm saying? So I think there are a lot of
- 1:12:48people that would jump on situations like that because
- 1:12:51they got bucket list tracks that they want to go to.
- 1:12:55And, and, and so, yeah, there's definitely an opportunity there.
- 1:12:58And it's, you know, I, I mean, I, you know, I get it, You know,
- 1:13:02why they want to go privatize and stuff like that, because,
- 1:13:05you know, when you make it exclusive, it's easier to put
- 1:13:08the money up, right. Oh, absolutely, absolutely.
- 1:13:11You know what I mean? Because everybody wants it.
- 1:13:13And so, you know, it's going to be easier for them to to, to
- 1:13:16make the same money they're doing with less effort.
- 1:13:20But you know, I think you. Got to you, got to you got to
- 1:13:23pay taxes and everything else. And if nobody's there using it,
- 1:13:27they did not make any money. But they should do it for the
- 1:13:29love. You know, you know, you think of
- 1:13:31you think of the places, you know, when you know, you look at
- 1:13:36all the different. I didn't get this until maybe a
- 1:13:40year ago and or, or, or whatever.
- 1:13:42I think I was at like I was at, I was at an event and you know
- 1:13:47it. It just made me realize, like
- 1:13:49people that put events together, like they need a lot of credit,
- 1:13:54a lot of applause, a lot of things because it's like they
- 1:13:57could just stay home and just do the same thing for themselves
- 1:14:02and not put. The effort in.
- 1:14:04To make other people happy, right?
- 1:14:06Or play. Yeah, right.
- 1:14:09You know, there's a poetry event, comedy event, music
- 1:14:11event, whatever the case is, the people that say, hey, you know
- 1:14:14what, I'll put that event on. They don't.
- 1:14:16There's like, yeah, they, they, they walk away with something.
- 1:14:19But like at the end of the day, the effort, you know what I'm
- 1:14:22saying, you could just turn on the music and just not deal with
- 1:14:25it. And, and so I realized, like,
- 1:14:27man, you know, what if, if nobody put a track day on, I
- 1:14:30wouldn't have a track day to go to, right?
- 1:14:31If nobody put, if no one decided to have a race organization that
- 1:14:35you can come and race your motorcycle, I wouldn't have that
- 1:14:37place to go to. Same thing in the dance hall or,
- 1:14:40or whatever thing. Like if they didn't decide to do
- 1:14:42this thing, I wouldn't have this thing to go to.
- 1:14:44And it's not, you know, it's not easy, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:14:48And, and, and so I give a lot of credit to people that do these
- 1:14:51things because if they didn't do it, we wouldn't have NASCAR, we
- 1:14:55wouldn't have the NBA. We wouldn't have these things at
- 1:14:57the highest level because somebody decided like, hey, you
- 1:15:00know, this might be something that we should do.
- 1:15:02And I don't think the people that started it sat here and
- 1:15:04say, oh, we're going to be a billion years.
- 1:15:07Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, they just, they, they just
- 1:15:09want to find people in their community that that share the
- 1:15:11same password. You know what I mean?
- 1:15:13So it it, it, it's a beautiful thing.
- 1:15:15So I do hope that they figure out a way that they can make it,
- 1:15:18you know, available and, and maybe by them doing this, other
- 1:15:22people decide to do something else.
- 1:15:24And, and that allows people to have a place because you always
- 1:15:27got to have that stepping stone so we can progress.
- 1:15:30Because if there's a disconnect between the people at the top
- 1:15:33and the and everyone else, then the people at the top eventually
- 1:15:36just going to get old and they ain't going to see nothing.
- 1:15:40It is that it's not going to be anything to do anymore.
- 1:15:42No, it ain't going to be anything to do anymore, man.
- 1:15:45Man, I I really appreciate you coming on.
- 1:15:47I definitely would love to have you on and and chop it up about
- 1:15:49Moto GP and world Super bike and all for sure, man.
- 1:15:54I'm all Hey, look, man. I'm retired, man.
- 1:15:57You send a message. I'm ready, man.
- 1:15:58I'm always ready all. Right.
- 1:16:01No doubt. You know my name is Rex 25.
- 1:16:03It's to be forever Cool podcast. 2 wheels, 1 chain peace all.
- 1:16:08Right, brother.
