- 2:26Speaker 5: on Friday about Capitol Market. Evan Osborne from the Market
- 2:30Speaker 5: is with us right now. Good morning, sir, welcome to
- 2:32Speaker 5: the show. Good morning, Thank you for being your busy
- 2:34Speaker 5: weekend at Charleston, was it not, man? I mean, uh,
- 2:37Speaker 5: Friday night half the town was over at five Street,
- 2:40Speaker 5: you know, for the launch of Animal Ale, and then
- 2:43Speaker 5: Saturday a couple thousand of our closest friends on the
- 2:46Speaker 5: boulevard for a Fione with dome and just a whole
- 2:49Speaker 5: light going on. But in the midst of all that,
- 2:52Speaker 5: Capitol Market had a big announcement on Friday.
- 2:54Speaker 6: Indeed, we did, I guess excited to unveil our addition
- 2:58Speaker 6: to the National Register of Historic.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Now what exactly does that mean.
- 3:02Speaker 6: It means that we are essentially recognized by the federal
- 3:05Speaker 6: government as a property worth recognition in the context of
- 3:10Speaker 6: the development of the United States, and so the piece
- 3:15Speaker 6: of property, the listing, if you will, is actually a
- 3:20Speaker 6: part of back to turns century when the building that
- 3:24Speaker 6: you see today was home to the Canal Michigan rail
- 3:28Speaker 6: line and their freight depot, and throughout the existence of
- 3:34Speaker 6: the Canal Michigan.
- 3:35Speaker 7: Rail line and now what is now in Norfolk Southern.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Really the goods and products that were shipped through through
- 3:42Speaker 6: the depot were transformative in the development of America's industrial economy.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So how exactly did this all come about?
- 3:50Speaker 6: This distinction, So back to you know, mid nineties when
- 3:56Speaker 6: Charleston Renaissance Court was redeveloping or doing the adaptive reuse
- 4:02Speaker 6: on the property what would ultimately become the market. The
- 4:09Speaker 6: building had been in a state of neglect, and you know,
- 4:12Speaker 6: over the years after it ceased being a freight depot
- 4:15Speaker 6: for the rail for the rail yard, it had been
- 4:19Speaker 6: the recycling center for Kanwall County at one point. There
- 4:21Speaker 6: are photos that we have from Charleston newspapers, so just
- 4:25Speaker 6: you remember back when they you know, newspapers, there's things.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You would.
- 4:31Speaker 6: They would have those bulk just giant bails paper that
- 4:38Speaker 6: they would use to store for their production over on
- 4:41Speaker 6: the boulevard. And what became clear was that this property
- 4:50Speaker 6: was you know, the market really came out of the
- 4:54Speaker 6: infancy of its existence.
- 4:56Speaker 7: You know, this was a.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Gem of a property and it was worth preserving. And
- 5:01Speaker 6: so we had several board members and people that were
- 5:04Speaker 6: transformative in the creation of the market really pushed to
- 5:08Speaker 6: make this happen.
- 5:09Speaker 7: And it's not an.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Easier quick process.
- 5:14Speaker 6: We actually had to hire what is called a architectural historian,
- 5:18Speaker 6: and as you can imagine, there.
- 5:19Speaker 7: Aren't a ton of those.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Yeah, and so through a lot of research and you know,
- 5:28Speaker 6: reference digging, and we were able to, with the support
- 5:33Speaker 6: of the State Historic Preservation Office, develop our nomination to
- 5:38Speaker 6: the Department of the Interior and they and so the
- 5:41Speaker 6: state vetted through the state and then ultimately to the
- 5:44Speaker 6: federal level level. And so found out that this was
- 5:47Speaker 6: probably gonna happen shortly after the first of the year,
- 5:51Speaker 6: and Friday was sort of the culmination of it's official.
- 5:55Speaker 3: We're there.
- 5:56Speaker 5: And again you said, you that you folks had to
- 5:58Speaker 5: hire somebody kind of help with because it's not something
- 6:01Speaker 5: that you know, the average everyday person is going to be.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Able to do.
- 6:05Speaker 5: What is that process like as far as how the
- 6:08Speaker 5: market was was chosen for this, I mean, how to
- 6:11Speaker 5: how do the people that how do the people that
- 6:13Speaker 5: do the choose and do the choosing.
- 6:14Speaker 6: So it's a competitive process. And I think I mentioned
- 6:19Speaker 6: this previously that you know, a property is not historically
- 6:22Speaker 6: significant just because it is old, right, there has to
- 6:24Speaker 6: be something of note or significance that you know, has
- 6:31Speaker 6: occurred within within the space. It does have to be
- 6:35Speaker 6: I believe at least fifty years old, So it can't
- 6:38Speaker 6: you know, just be a new property that you know,
- 6:40Speaker 6: happen to have something very important happen.
- 6:42Speaker 7: Uh, it's kind of funny.
- 6:43Speaker 6: One of our tenants that may or may not be
- 6:45Speaker 6: the father of your senior producer, said that it was
- 6:48Speaker 6: now historically significant because they invested in the markets.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yes there, you'll love that yell.
- 6:53Speaker 6: But it's uh, you know, we look at you know,
- 7:00Speaker 6: the steel and coal and the raw materials that were
- 7:04Speaker 6: used really just like you know, for example, to drive
- 7:06Speaker 6: the development of the American auto industry and so daily
- 7:11Speaker 6: you know, all of those we were going through and
- 7:13Speaker 6: coming back and over the years, what we saw is
- 7:20Speaker 6: that there was a tremendous amount of interest just from
- 7:22Speaker 6: a tourism standpoint, and people wanting to know more specifically
- 7:25Speaker 6: about the Canall Michigan rail line. Who owned, what, what
- 7:28Speaker 6: did they do? Who are they today? What have they
- 7:30Speaker 6: evolved out of? And so if you ever look closely
- 7:32Speaker 6: at the market, you can still see the remnants of
- 7:33Speaker 6: a lot of the train tracks that actually sort of
- 7:37Speaker 6: well still about the rear end of the market. You
- 7:39Speaker 6: know that that that line is still used today by
- 7:42Speaker 6: Norfolk Southern. In fact, we actually lease the back half
- 7:45Speaker 6: of our property, we do not own it from Norfolk.
- 7:47Speaker 5: So I didn't know that talking to having Osborne again
- 7:51Speaker 5: from Capital mark of a Dave Island showing five eighty
- 7:53Speaker 5: live broad to you part by your hometown baseball chief
- 7:55Speaker 5: of the Charleston Dirty Birds off night tonight for the
- 7:57Speaker 5: Birds that begin a road series at Lexington Tomorrow night
- 7:59Speaker 5: before five, finally returning home at the long road trip
- 8:03Speaker 5: to Go Ballpark Friday night's take on Gastonia. Ticket schedules, promotions,
- 8:07Speaker 5: merchant more visit Dirty Birds Baseball dot com. Right, So,
- 8:10Speaker 5: I guess the next big question is is what does
- 8:13Speaker 5: this mean for the future at Capital Market.
- 8:15Speaker 7: So it does a couple of things.
- 8:16Speaker 6: First and foremost, it protects the property for the foreseeable future.
- 8:21Speaker 6: You know, if the Federal Highway Administration ever wanted to
- 8:25Speaker 6: widen the interstate that is directly over us, it would
- 8:29Speaker 6: protect certainly our property in the adjoining space from any
- 8:33Speaker 6: future encroachment. It leverages a lot of grant opportunities, So
- 8:38Speaker 6: we've already and we've already started seeing that come to fruition.
- 8:42Speaker 6: So in the next two years, Capital Market stands to
- 8:47Speaker 6: invest about three and a half million dollars back into
- 8:50Speaker 6: the market infrastructure. So a lot of people are sometimes
- 8:54Speaker 6: surprised sometimes not to learn that we operate Capital Market
- 8:58Speaker 6: as a five oh one c three nonprofits. We're able
- 9:00Speaker 6: to pursue those grand opportunities and put that money directly
- 9:03Speaker 6: back into our small businesses, our farmers, and then ultimately,
- 9:07Speaker 6: now where we've really expanded food access programs throughout the market,
- 9:10Speaker 6: give that directly back to our customers.
- 9:13Speaker 5: And one of the great things, and you and I
- 9:14Speaker 5: have talked about it, Evan, when you've been on the
- 9:15Speaker 5: show in the past, is the anytime anybody comes to
- 9:20Speaker 5: Charleston and they say, what do I need to do
- 9:23Speaker 5: while I'm here? I've gave the reference of my wife's
- 9:26Speaker 5: company that's in Charleston, and you know, they would have
- 9:28Speaker 5: people come in for different conferences and meetings, and maybe
- 9:31Speaker 5: they'd have time in the evenings.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Like they always ask, well, what do I need to
- 9:33Speaker 3: do in town?
- 9:34Speaker 5: Invariably, no matter who you ask, one of the spots
- 9:37Speaker 5: is always Capital Market because there's so many things going
- 9:41Speaker 5: on there. It's not just about the great food, which
- 9:43Speaker 5: there is a lot of great food, and the wine
- 9:46Speaker 5: shop and the cheat and the chocolate and the restaurants,
- 9:49Speaker 5: but there's a whole lot more to it than just that.
- 9:52Speaker 5: And everybody that comes to Charleston. I mean I've had
- 9:55Speaker 5: people friends of mine and people associates who come in
- 9:58Speaker 5: from all over the country. I have said I wish
- 10:00Speaker 5: we had that in our city. And there are cities
- 10:03Speaker 5: a whole lot larger than Charleston. I mean, this isn't
- 10:06Speaker 5: something that you see everywhere.
- 10:07Speaker 6: I don't take for granted just how special and how
- 10:11Speaker 6: lucky one to be able to serve as the director
- 10:15Speaker 6: of the market. You know, I think I really view
- 10:18Speaker 6: this as the community's market. And you know, I'm very
- 10:23Speaker 6: fortunate often most of the time to get to get
- 10:30Speaker 6: to lead it. And so I don't take that for granted.
- 10:33Speaker 6: And you know, I want anyone whether they're local, whether
- 10:36Speaker 6: they're visiting for the first time, or whether you know,
- 10:39Speaker 6: they're traveling. We often hear from folks that are driving
- 10:43Speaker 6: to the beach that they have to stop every year
- 10:45Speaker 6: at the market to pick something up on the way
- 10:47Speaker 6: to the beach. And so, you know, regardless first time,
- 10:51Speaker 6: last time, you're here five times a week, I want
- 10:53Speaker 6: your experience to be you know, amazing from from start
- 10:56Speaker 6: to finish. And that I think one is really driven
- 10:59Speaker 6: by you know, our our indoor tenants, our outdoor farmers,
- 11:03Speaker 6: and and the folks that, particularly today with one hundred
- 11:06Speaker 6: plus degree temperatures, pour their blood, sweat and tears into
- 11:10Speaker 6: making this a wholly unique experience, not just in West
- 11:14Speaker 6: Virginia but throughout the country.
- 11:15Speaker 3: What can we expect on the horizon for Capital Market?
- 11:19Speaker 6: I mean first and foremost, because I've had nine texts
- 11:21Speaker 6: this morning about it is corn cornriving today? Okay, ye corn.
- 11:28Speaker 6: It's one of those dates every year that we.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Circle today's corn day.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Today is corn day. And I will tell you that
- 11:34Speaker 6: it was probably picked less than three.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Hours ago, okay, And where did it come from?
- 11:39Speaker 6: Uh, this would have been towards Ravenswood and then Putnam
- 11:46Speaker 6: County probably. You know, you get weird geographic anomalies in
- 11:51Speaker 6: the certain pockets of reson. So and then I want
- 11:55Speaker 6: to say, uh, Robbie's Produce, which is out towards uh
- 11:59Speaker 6: it's look to the right of the Quincy Walmart. That
- 12:01Speaker 6: is actually one of the farms for Capital Market.
- 12:06Speaker 7: Have to check. But definitely this week.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Okay, what are their big announcements to what other activities
- 12:11Speaker 5: you have going? I know you just had the June
- 12:14Speaker 5: teenth event over there on this past week, but what
- 12:17Speaker 5: else is coming up in the future.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Yeah, we're so we're excited to partner with Regatta again
- 12:20Speaker 6: for what is now the fourth and I'm sorry third
- 12:24Speaker 6: installment of our All Fired Up Kids Barbecue Contest and
- 12:28Speaker 6: it's a whole lot of fun. So actually it is
- 12:29Speaker 6: one of the first events this year ever got it's Thursday,
- 12:32Speaker 6: July third, and it is a kid's barbecue contest and
- 12:37Speaker 6: it's it's conceptually, I think it's a lot of fun.
- 12:41Speaker 6: We give each kid, each participant sixteen and under one
- 12:45Speaker 6: hundred dollars market gift card and thirty minutes to go
- 12:47Speaker 6: shop for their ingredients and then come back and then
- 12:50Speaker 6: they have ninety minutes to prepare their ultimate meal.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And just in.
- 12:55Speaker 6: The past couple of years that we've done this, to
- 12:58Speaker 6: see just the creativity that lives within these young kids
- 13:04Speaker 6: and are you know I couldn't boil water when I
- 13:07Speaker 6: was their age And to see these plates that they're
- 13:09Speaker 6: putting out, one of them former winner actually I believe
- 13:13Speaker 6: got hired by that Paul Smith guy. Oh really, yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 6: So it's you know, and and again it's part of
- 13:19Speaker 6: that reinvestment, not just you know, teaching these young kids
- 13:27Speaker 6: how to not only shop the market, but really lifting
- 13:31Speaker 6: up our local culinary scene. I think, you know, look
- 13:35Speaker 6: at what's happened since Paul won the James Beard Award,
- 13:39Speaker 6: and there is this momentum that I don't think really
- 13:43Speaker 6: was all that recognized within apple Achian cuisine over the
- 13:46Speaker 6: past several years. And so it's really really exciting to
- 13:48Speaker 6: be a small part of that.
- 13:50Speaker 5: All right, Evan, always good stuff going on over Capital market.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Congratulations on this distinction. So it's a pretty big deal
- 13:56Speaker 5: for Charleston to be able to have this and for
- 13:58Speaker 5: West Virginia in general because this is not just a
- 14:00Speaker 5: Charleston thing. This is a statewide and a regional thing.
- 14:04Speaker 5: And it's always always good to be recognized. I appreciate
- 14:08Speaker 5: you being here, man, Thanks a lot.

- 18:21Speaker 7: I get on television I've got a TV on my phone,
- 18:25Speaker 7: and I went to MSNBC, you know, because I don't
- 18:29Speaker 7: watch it, and they were on Sky News. In other words,
- 18:33Speaker 7: they run reruns overnight, but because this was breaking news,
- 18:37Speaker 7: they got to feed until they could get their people.
- 18:41Speaker 7: And at six o'clock in the morning, CNN was live
- 18:44Speaker 7: and Fox was circling live, and I watched all three.
- 18:48Speaker 3: News Nation also was live.
- 18:51Speaker 7: I missed that one.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm a fan of not Newsmax News Nation.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I like Andrew and.
- 18:58Speaker 7: And I like Leland, and they've got some people in
- 19:03Speaker 7: there I like. But I've never seen anything like this.
- 19:11Speaker 7: And you know, I'll be seventy five in August. And
- 19:17Speaker 7: it's funny when you have an event like this, the
- 19:22Speaker 7: people that you didn't identify with politically, all of a
- 19:27Speaker 7: sudden you do, and the people you did you don't.
- 19:31Speaker 7: And I think it's specifically of I don't watch TV
- 19:35Speaker 7: too much in the morning. I listen to you guys,
- 19:36Speaker 7: or I'm reading this morning. Ted Cruise is on Fox
- 19:40Speaker 7: and Friends, not a show I usually watched. There, I
- 19:46Speaker 7: was man, I'm with Ted. And then on ABC News
- 19:50Speaker 7: on Sunday morning, you had this Iranian guy who was
- 19:55Speaker 7: all for it. You had Chris Christie when I President
- 19:59Speaker 7: Trump critics, he was all for Adam Kin Singer, he
- 20:04Speaker 7: was all for me. I'm all for it. Yet people,
- 20:11Speaker 7: there's a lot of Democrats and it's there, it's their choice.
- 20:15Speaker 7: People have different views.
- 20:17Speaker 3: The AOC is calling for impeachment based on this.
- 20:20Speaker 7: That is that that's not surprising. But I was really
- 20:24Speaker 7: surprised by the senator from Arizona. It's an astronaut, Scott
- 20:30Speaker 7: Mark Mark Mark Kelly. He came out against and I
- 20:34Speaker 7: was surprised.
- 20:34Speaker 5: On one of the shows yesterday morning. I'm not sure
- 20:36Speaker 5: which one. I was slipping around and uh, I'm not
- 20:40Speaker 5: sure which show. Maybe maybe the ABC show. I'm not sure,
- 20:43Speaker 5: but yeah, I was on NBC. I watched Okay, I saw.
- 20:46Speaker 3: His comments yesterday when he was he was interviewed. So
- 20:49Speaker 3: you say you support it, Why.
- 20:51Speaker 7: What choice did he have? I mean, it's a dangerous,
- 20:57Speaker 7: dangerous bunch of people. It's a cult. They worshiped death,
- 21:02Speaker 7: we worshiped life. And I lived through nineteen seventy nine
- 21:09Speaker 7: and it was I remember the hatred and when you
- 21:15Speaker 7: have tens of thousands of people channing death to American
- 21:19Speaker 7: the streets maybe I'll believe them.
- 21:23Speaker 5: It's and I remember that to day, and of course
- 21:24Speaker 5: I was a kid, but I do remember. I mean
- 21:27Speaker 5: the network news every night starting with you know of
- 21:32Speaker 5: Frank Reynolds on ABC. You know, well that, yeah, that's
- 21:36Speaker 5: actually how Nightline got started. More on that a little
- 21:38Speaker 5: bit later, but I'm talking about the six thirty news
- 21:42Speaker 5: every night started day one sixty seven. It was always, always,
- 21:46Speaker 5: always the lead story. And it was a time, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 5: as in nineteen seventy nine, when we had not had
- 21:55Speaker 5: a quote unquote you know, a conflict since Vietnam ended,
- 22:00Speaker 5: and it was just different because you didn't hear about
- 22:03Speaker 5: all the I mean, obviously there were always things going
- 22:05Speaker 5: on in the Mid East, but it really didn't involve America.
- 22:07Speaker 5: But then when we saw on TV, and again I'm
- 22:10Speaker 5: a kid, and I see these hostages being brought out
- 22:14Speaker 5: with tape, oh not even actual blindfolds, like tape over
- 22:17Speaker 5: their eyes, and it was, as you said, and I
- 22:21Speaker 5: said this, and I've said this in the past on
- 22:23Speaker 5: this show, Danny many many times. During World War Two,
- 22:25Speaker 5: my grandfather, my late grandfather, served in Iran and Iraq,
- 22:29Speaker 5: and people kind of forget that there was a military
- 22:31Speaker 5: presence over there.
- 22:33Speaker 7: But the how when was that David forty early.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Forties, Yeah, he was over there then, and when in
- 22:39Speaker 5: nineteen ninety when when when the Persian Gulf christ was
- 22:43Speaker 5: happened and Kuwait or was taken was taken over by Iraq.
- 22:47Speaker 5: My grandfather then said, this is a mistake us getting
- 22:52Speaker 5: involved in this. He said, because I'm telling you we
- 22:55Speaker 5: are never going to get out of that part of
- 22:58Speaker 5: the world.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And he was being very rod when.
- 23:00Speaker 5: He said that part of the world, because his take was,
- 23:04Speaker 5: you know, say what you want about our battles in
- 23:06Speaker 5: World War Two, we had things in common with Germany
- 23:10Speaker 5: in Japan. Like you said, it was we didn't want
- 23:12Speaker 5: to lose life. And I'm not trying to paint the people.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I'm talking about the the the administration.
- 23:18Speaker 7: I understand they.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Life is not that big to them, even their own.
- 23:25Speaker 5: And again that's what I'm talking about, the administration, not
- 23:27Speaker 5: the people, and it's it's it's just different.
- 23:31Speaker 7: The majority, the majority of the people in the I disagree,
- 23:35Speaker 7: but you know, that's what life's about. But I'm glad
- 23:39Speaker 7: we went to Kuwait. You got to remember, I saw
- 23:42Speaker 7: Schwarzkov speak when he got here and they were one
- 23:46Speaker 7: hundred and fifty miles from when they were in Iraq.
- 23:49Speaker 7: They were one hundred and fifty miles. They could have
- 23:51Speaker 7: gone in and grabbed your seam and you could tell
- 23:54Speaker 7: by his speech he wanted to go. Bush Senior said no,
- 23:58Speaker 7: he knew what he was doing. The young one didn't.
- 24:02Speaker 7: And we're being penalized by the young one. Now. Don't
- 24:06Speaker 7: get me wrong, I voted for him twice. I like
- 24:07Speaker 7: the guy I met him, super nice guy. He was
- 24:11Speaker 7: just wrong. People make mistakes. That was a big one
- 24:15Speaker 7: and cost a lot of American lives and having been
- 24:19Speaker 7: in a war that was unpopular. I mean, we lost
- 24:26Speaker 7: some people death to people that served there. People join
- 24:33Speaker 7: the service to go there, and it was just one
- 24:36Speaker 7: big mistake. People make them. But they're worried about some
- 24:41Speaker 7: people reasonably worry about that now. And President Trump is
- 24:45Speaker 7: not the best messenger for this conflict. He's fine with me.
- 24:50Speaker 7: I don't like him, but he's fine with me on this.
- 24:54Speaker 7: And you've got these isolationists like Taulcy Gabbern out of
- 25:00Speaker 7: Tucker Carlton, I'm just I'm sorry, I just can't stand
- 25:03Speaker 7: him and Steve Bann Steve Benn's luck he's not locked up.
- 25:08Speaker 7: But they're isolationists. We had an isolationist movement before World
- 25:16Speaker 7: War Two. It was called Guess What America First and
- 25:20Speaker 7: was led by a guy named Charles Lindbergh and President
- 25:25Speaker 7: Roosevelt one of his one of the books written about him.
- 25:29Speaker 7: You know, he was a whatever you think about the
- 25:31Speaker 7: New Day, he was a great leader. And he told
- 25:34Speaker 7: one of his cabinet members, if I die tomorrow, Linburgh
- 25:39Speaker 7: the a Nazi. Today he's a Nazi. Tomorrow he's a Nazi.
- 25:44Speaker 7: And then you get these pictures of Lindbergh over there
- 25:46Speaker 7: regurring except an awards. They they he almost married him
- 25:53Speaker 7: at the thirty six Olympics, I mean, and then we
- 25:57Speaker 7: were bombed and he wanted to join in Roosevelt, So
- 26:00Speaker 7: are you kidding me? You know, we had an America
- 26:04Speaker 7: First movement. So when people criticized Trump, everybody's entire of
- 26:10Speaker 7: their opinion. God, as I get older, I realized, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 7: you're not right about everything, but what's your way? That's
- 26:21Speaker 7: what I would laugh. How would you deal with these things?
- 26:23Speaker 5: And I don't think anybody again we're talking to Danny Jones.
- 26:26Speaker 5: I don't think anybody would argue that the world is
- 26:31Speaker 5: not a safer place without Iran having the capability of
- 26:36Speaker 5: nuclear weapons. The problem that a lot of people have
- 26:39Speaker 5: said is that, and a lot of the Democrats have
- 26:43Speaker 5: come out, a lot of liberals have come out, and
- 26:44Speaker 5: others and some Republicans have come out and said, we
- 26:46Speaker 5: had no reason to believe that they had the capability
- 26:48Speaker 5: to make nuclear weapons.
- 26:49Speaker 3: You were thought on that. You study this stuff, your thought, Oh.
- 26:52Speaker 7: We absolutely knew they were making and they were enrich
- 26:55Speaker 7: and all that Uranian. Last night, somebody had my parking
- 27:00Speaker 7: space over in the towns or in the parking garage
- 27:04Speaker 7: on Dickinson Street. So I parked my car on the street.
- 27:09Speaker 7: Somebody got in it. I should not have had a
- 27:12Speaker 7: park on the street. I mean, how what what do
- 27:16Speaker 7: you need? Is a warning? They're yelling to tell you
- 27:20Speaker 7: what do you what do you need? And you know maybe,
- 27:27Speaker 7: I mean, I've got those piece instincts too. I'm a
- 27:32Speaker 7: veteran one of those unpopular wars. But I think he
- 27:39Speaker 7: was right. I don't think he's right about much, but
- 27:42Speaker 7: he's right about that. Ted Cruz not a guy identified
- 27:46Speaker 7: with There's a guy that works for Fox named Lawrence Jones,
- 27:50Speaker 7: the same name as my brother, as a black guy,
- 27:52Speaker 7: do you know what I'm talking about? Got in an
- 27:54Speaker 7: urban way about him, kind of like a listening to him.
- 27:58Speaker 7: And it was on with Brett and sometimes the simplest
- 28:02Speaker 7: deliveries of the best. And he said, you know, he said,
- 28:06Speaker 7: I hear a lot of people talk about Iran how
- 28:08Speaker 7: good it was under the Shaw. He said, we need
- 28:11Speaker 7: to know a lot of people over didn't like the Shaw.
- 28:14Speaker 7: The Shaw is good for us. And he still he
- 28:18Speaker 7: still is. I mean, I wish Carter would have saved him.
- 28:22Speaker 7: But when you allow one kind of despotism to flourish,
- 28:30Speaker 7: when it's when you can see your handprints on it,
- 28:33Speaker 7: another kind of despotism will flourish that is against you.
- 28:38Speaker 7: We saw it in the Soviet Union. Nixon warned us
- 28:41Speaker 7: about it. He said, if we don't help them get
- 28:44Speaker 7: through this time for their transition into freedom, we will
- 28:50Speaker 7: pay later on. I could play you the tape. He
- 28:52Speaker 7: didn't say it like that, but that's what he said.
- 28:56Speaker 7: And another imperfect guy. But you know, he's wife and
- 29:04Speaker 7: he wrote books about it. And we need to listen
- 29:07Speaker 7: to people as they talk about these things. And I'm
- 29:13Speaker 7: sorry where where we are?
- 29:17Speaker 3: So what happens next?
- 29:17Speaker 7: In your opinion, you got to think about Iran, What
- 29:25Speaker 7: the hell they'll retaliate? So you think if you were them,
- 29:28Speaker 7: how would you retally? They're not coming? I mean, first thing,
- 29:31Speaker 7: he's got sleeper sells here that might retaliate big. But
- 29:35Speaker 7: you've heard them. What you're going to do is try
- 29:40Speaker 7: to find out the name of the people flying those
- 29:42Speaker 7: planes and kill them. Their names will eventually be out there.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Find the name of the go find a CIA guy
- 29:51Speaker 7: in Virginia that Ben Affleck made the movie about. He's
- 29:56Speaker 7: still killing the Prince of Iran.
- 30:01Speaker 13: PA.
- 30:02Speaker 7: He's still killing Christy Known. I'm not a fan. She
- 30:09Speaker 7: was having that press conference, you know, and here comes
- 30:12Speaker 7: in that United States senator. Kill her. They could kill her,
- 30:18Speaker 7: they could kill anyone of his cabinets. It could kill
- 30:21Speaker 7: Steve Miller, they could kill Senator Cruz. They kill you,
- 30:24Speaker 7: kill me. These people worship death and we worship life.
- 30:30Speaker 5: I am, and we'll say this is good or break.
- 30:33Speaker 5: But when when this happened and everybody and you know
- 30:36Speaker 5: it was I think I don't know that. I think
- 30:39Speaker 5: maybe the timing might have been a surprise, but it
- 30:42Speaker 5: wasn't a surprise that it happened.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 30:45Speaker 5: And automatically, you know, people start talking about, as you said, retaliation, retaliation,
- 30:50Speaker 5: Well I am, I am just as concerned. I'm more
- 30:53Speaker 5: concerned about the people living in America right now than
- 30:56Speaker 5: I am about the people living in Iran uh. And
- 30:59Speaker 5: whether it's empathizers or whether it's people that, because of
- 31:02Speaker 5: the Internet or whatever, just a couple of sandwiches short
- 31:04Speaker 5: of a picnic, they scare me a lot more than
- 31:07Speaker 5: what anybody living.
- 31:08Speaker 3: In iron does.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Fair enough, I mean, because we're seeing this now and again,
- 31:17Speaker 5: this is a I mean, look look what we I
- 31:22Speaker 5: guess after September eleventh, Danny, it seemed like there was
- 31:27Speaker 5: such a unification of America.
- 31:30Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 31:31Speaker 5: There were a few people on September twelfth that came
- 31:35Speaker 5: out and said, pumped the brakes, we don't want to
- 31:40Speaker 5: think about our next move right now, let's just mourn.
- 31:42Speaker 5: But the majority of people in America September twelfth, two
- 31:44Speaker 5: thousand and one, the majority of people in America were like,
- 31:48Speaker 5: let's go, you know, let's roll. They're all one big
- 31:52Speaker 5: Toby Keith song, you know, you know, let's go and
- 31:55Speaker 5: I'm going to say I was one of them.
- 31:57Speaker 3: You know, we're not.
- 32:00Speaker 5: We're not today where we were back then, and immediately
- 32:06Speaker 5: I don't think that on September twelfth, two thousand and one.
- 32:09Speaker 5: I don't know that an AOC or a Bernie Sanders
- 32:13Speaker 5: or anybody like that comes out and immediately or people
- 32:17Speaker 5: of the Republican Party, which we've seen plenty of come
- 32:20Speaker 5: out and immediately speak out against what President Trump did
- 32:24Speaker 5: on Saturday night.
- 32:25Speaker 7: They'll be there. They're already starting me.
- 32:28Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 32:28Speaker 5: I'm saying that back then I don't know, but that
- 32:31Speaker 5: that they would have done that I can.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Tell quick, yeah, yeah, go ahead.
- 32:35Speaker 7: I'm watching Overnight on Fox on Saturday night, and there's
- 32:39Speaker 7: a guy I met on the street of Washington. See
- 32:42Speaker 7: this's Saturday night. It's Saturday before nine to eleven, I mean,
- 32:46Speaker 7: d see with el On Ratner. There's a few people
- 32:48Speaker 7: who remember her. And Julian Epstein is walking on the street.
- 32:54Speaker 7: I know who he is, in your faced Democrat John
- 32:58Speaker 7: Conyer's lawyer defend the Clinton's on impeachment. And I walked
- 33:03Speaker 7: up and introduced myself. Such a nice guy. He was
- 33:08Speaker 7: on Fox with Frace Gallagher. Is that his name, that's name.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I haven't heard it in a while.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Yeah, And he was talking about the Obama Biden time
- 33:24Speaker 7: of appeasement. I'm thinking, wow, come on, come to me, Julian.
- 33:33Speaker 7: I mean, I was shocked. And he's he's sixty two
- 33:38Speaker 7: sixty three now, And people say, Okay, he's Jewish. Mark
- 33:43Speaker 7: Apprin's Jewish. They're liberals, They're all for President Trump. And
- 33:49Speaker 7: Chris Christie's not Jewish and I'm not. And a lot
- 33:55Speaker 7: of people speaking out are n't. And I'm so down
- 34:03Speaker 7: with Israel a Mamazionist. If you're for the existence, it
- 34:08Speaker 7: is for yours Dinist. So they might kill you, might

- 37:52Speaker 7: Andrew Cuomo, that's a hard pill of swallow. But once again,
- 37:56Speaker 7: what's your way? And Bloomberg's on board with him. President
- 38:01Speaker 7: Clinton's on board with him. And I just pray wins
- 38:05Speaker 7: because it didn't win. This socialist wins the next four
- 38:09Speaker 7: years in DC. You think Deblossia was bad and the
- 38:14Speaker 7: usual suspects of endorsed h AOC Bernie Sanders and he'll
- 38:20Speaker 7: be cheering for Iran.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Tex says if Iran had any sense of retaliation, they
- 38:25Speaker 5: retaliate in a way that makes the US economily economy uncomfortable.
- 38:29Speaker 5: If they come from blood, America will go right back
- 38:31Speaker 5: for blood. If Iran messages with our economy, will be
- 38:34Speaker 5: stirred up like hornets, blaming and stinging each other. I
- 38:38Speaker 5: have said this before and many and I'm certainly I
- 38:40Speaker 5: didn't serve it a military, but many military experts have
- 38:44Speaker 5: said that the big battles are going to happen, They're
- 38:48Speaker 5: more likely to happen in that little thing that we
- 38:50Speaker 5: carry in our pocket, in our phones, than what they
- 38:53Speaker 5: are in the skies over America or anywhere else, because
- 38:57Speaker 5: infrastructure is where it's an infrastructure cybersecurity. That's the new
- 39:02Speaker 5: battlefield more than what it was when you served in Vietnam.
- 39:05Speaker 5: That's where the battles are going to be right now. Now,
- 39:07Speaker 5: is Iran in my opinion, is Iran going to I mean,
- 39:09Speaker 5: there's going to be retaliation, but I don't I don't
- 39:11Speaker 5: think it's going to be retaliation in the way that
- 39:13Speaker 5: we think it's gonna be retaliation.
- 39:15Speaker 7: It'll be their confederates could be red, China could be putin.
- 39:21Speaker 7: It could be uh. I mean, one of the Iranian
- 39:23Speaker 7: people is going to see putin now. I don't know
- 39:26Speaker 7: if you saw.
- 39:27Speaker 3: That, but yeah, i'd actually read that this morning.
- 39:29Speaker 7: Yeah, and the obvious thing for them to do, and
- 39:34Speaker 7: they said they're gonna do it. I don't believe them.
- 39:36Speaker 7: They're gonna block the straight of hor move and that'll
- 39:39Speaker 7: lead to big war, not just with us. But I
- 39:43Speaker 7: was kind of taken back by the people that didn't
- 39:46Speaker 7: support our president and the people British Prime Minister, he's
- 39:50Speaker 7: right there. The crone's a little bit iffy, but nothing
- 39:55Speaker 7: from NATO, you know, like crickets. And you know, Trump's
- 40:03Speaker 7: a hard guy to sell a message because so many
- 40:05Speaker 7: people are just some people will be for Iran because
- 40:08Speaker 7: they hate Trump. And I'm encourage him. Don't go down
- 40:11Speaker 7: that road. It's not a good road to be on.
- 40:15Speaker 5: I mean, I think that's that's kind of where we
- 40:18Speaker 5: are in the American political consciousness right now. And I'll
- 40:23Speaker 5: just leave it here forget about the other countries for
- 40:24Speaker 5: a moment. We are so dug in with tribalism, Danny,
- 40:28Speaker 5: and we are so all about our side and that
- 40:30Speaker 5: the other guy sucks that we can't see beyond that.
- 40:34Speaker 5: And that goes on on both fronts for both. I mean,
- 40:37Speaker 5: they're trying to me. Look, I'm not a Trump guy.
- 40:39Speaker 5: I voted as you know, I voted for him twice,
- 40:42Speaker 5: did not vote for him this past time. However, he's
- 40:45Speaker 5: my president and I want him to do well, and
- 40:46Speaker 5: I want America to do well. But Trump derangement syndrome
- 40:50Speaker 5: is a real thing, and it's a disease. And conversely,
- 40:55Speaker 5: these people that are out to own the Libs are
- 40:58Speaker 5: pretty much the same, very much the same way, Texas,
- 41:02Speaker 5: Trump pulled us into a war, the same way w
- 41:04Speaker 5: took us to war in Iraq needlessly, Danny. I hope
- 41:07Speaker 5: you lead our young soldiers over there now.
- 41:10Speaker 7: I'm sorry you feel that way.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Texas, Dave.
- 41:14Speaker 5: You've got to remember, the majority of the anti Semitic
- 41:17Speaker 5: and anti American scum supporting Palestine and Iran were not
- 41:20Speaker 5: alive September eleventh and do not want to know about it.
- 41:23Speaker 5: So they don't know how we all came together to
- 41:25Speaker 5: support and save each other. Race, gender, religion did not matter.
- 41:29Speaker 5: They don't get that, Texas, how do we forget nine
- 41:33Speaker 5: to eleven?
- 41:34Speaker 7: I want to reach out to the gods. Texted to
- 41:37Speaker 7: my friends that are against President Trump. I'm not for him.
- 41:42Speaker 7: I want to reach out to him at this moment
- 41:45Speaker 7: and tell them that I know you're disappointed in me,
- 41:52Speaker 7: but once again, politely, let's talk, because what's your way.
- 41:58Speaker 7: I'm with you, I mean help me. If you don't
- 42:01Speaker 7: like what I'm saying, at least think about it, and
- 42:08Speaker 7: once again, what's your way. I don't think we're gonna
- 42:11Speaker 7: have troops in a war unless we are actually victimized
- 42:17Speaker 7: here in our homeland. But I'm just sorry that feels

- 47:35Speaker 7: Breagan. My personal opinions Reagan, but you know he started

- 47:42Speaker 7: couldn't compete, so they folded and we were free. We
- 47:46Speaker 7: have a free Eastern Europe today because of President Reagan

- 48:22Speaker 7: you think about what Laurence Jones said. A lot of

- 49:01Speaker 7: shaved his mustache and goatee and shaved his eyebrows and
- 49:04Speaker 7: got on an airplane flew it to Paris. They were

- 49:16Speaker 7: was speaking out against them. They killed him. I'm surprised

- 49:36Speaker 5: Let me ask you this question, Danny, with the current
- 49:40Speaker 5: situation that is going on with Israel and all that's
- 49:45Speaker 5: going on over there and now Iran, do you feel
- 49:48Speaker 5: more comfortable with President Trump in control than you would
- 49:52Speaker 5: have with Joe Biden.
- 49:53Speaker 7: Well, if you had Joe Biden, you wouldn't have had
- 49:55Speaker 7: the strike. If you have Kamala Hersh wouldn't have the
- 49:58Speaker 7: strike because they were I mean, Biden didn't know where
- 50:03Speaker 7: he was, Kamal Harris wouldn't give an interview. And I
- 50:10Speaker 7: mean on that moment, sure, I mean, what's your way
- 50:15Speaker 7: to the people don't like him? I'm here, I'm listening.
- 50:19Speaker 7: I'm for you. I mean, I understand your feelings. I
- 50:21Speaker 7: don't like him either.
- 50:23Speaker 5: But nobody seems to have a response other And again,
- 50:27Speaker 5: not to be too philosophical, Danny, but it goes back
- 50:29Speaker 5: to where our political system is right now. The only
- 50:32Speaker 5: thing that people and I'm not talking about in West Virginia.
- 50:34Speaker 5: I'm talking about outside West Virginia.
- 50:36Speaker 3: The only thing that we have.
- 50:38Speaker 5: To run on, it seems, is I ain't him or
- 50:40Speaker 5: I ain't her. You know that was you know, you
- 50:43Speaker 5: got to elect Trump because he's better than Biden and
- 50:45Speaker 5: better than Harris. Okay and Harris when Biden comes out
- 50:48Speaker 5: and Harris comes out and basically all they had to
- 50:50Speaker 5: say was we're not Donald Trump. That's not enough, in
- 50:53Speaker 5: my opinion, to successfully lead a nation.
- 51:00Speaker 7: I left my car on the street. I mean it's uh,
