- 0:27Speaker 3: But the music is two hundred and twenty five percent fire?
- 0:33Speaker 2: You love it?
- 0:34Speaker 4: It's that got real cape Can you.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Do the Can I get the mic a little higher?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Fire? Oh?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yeah, your I do Cape Hop Demon queen. You know
- 0:51Speaker 2: it's like breaking.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I don't even know the story break and he's.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Breaking all these Netflix records. That's what I hear as well.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's like so much story behind all of this,
- 1:03Speaker 3: Like there's like it goes deeper than this.
- 1:04Speaker 1: This was this a comic book? What was this?
- 1:07Speaker 3: Because you could tell the original the Demon Hunters two
- 1:11Speaker 3: of the Demon Hunters have brothers who are demons like
- 1:14Speaker 3: and they we're not gonna find out until part two.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Like it's over, clearant like this sh is Fire preaching.
- 1:21Speaker 4: To has really been you know, Spider Man into the
- 1:27Speaker 4: Spider Verse movies, which really hit, and then they did
- 1:29Speaker 4: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which also hit and now this
- 1:32Speaker 4: is their latest. It was going to be a theatrical run,
- 1:34Speaker 4: but Netflix picked it up. And yeah, it's just it's
- 1:37Speaker 4: so much fun. It is a kid's movie, but uh,
- 1:42Speaker 4: it's also for kids at heart. It's entertaining as hell.
- 1:44Speaker 4: It deals with like generations like Star.
- 1:48Speaker 1: She's right, it's like Star Wars.
- 1:49Speaker 3: It's made for twelve year olds, but freaking adults are
- 1:52Speaker 3: gonna love it. Are you kidding me? My daughter is
- 1:59Speaker 3: the one that turned me on to this. My daughter
- 2:01Speaker 3: is the one that freaking My daughter is the plug.
- 2:03Speaker 3: My daughter is the plug.
- 2:08Speaker 2: It's so funny how the shit I try and get
- 2:10Speaker 2: down on to watch and then what he actually watches.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but you try to get me to watch boring
- 2:16Speaker 1: shit man, Like we just.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Don't have the same taste. The other day, when you're
- 2:19Speaker 2: talking about a movie and I said, well.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I tried to get him to watch Superman, he was like,
- 2:23Speaker 3: you know, well, here's my cup of tea.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Here's the thing. You know what I was thinking because
- 2:27Speaker 2: knew we're gonna talk about this. It's like, you remember
- 2:30Speaker 2: how back in the day, in the box of ice
- 2:32Speaker 2: cream there would be vanilla chocolate in the strawberry. I
- 2:36Speaker 2: would never touch the strawberry. Now, strawberry is very popular
- 2:40Speaker 2: and people love strawberry, but for me, I would never
- 2:43Speaker 2: go near the strawberry. This shit would be empty and
- 2:45Speaker 2: there'd be a sliver of strawberry. And I was thinking
- 2:50Speaker 2: that while I was watching Superman. I was like, this
- 2:52Speaker 2: is obviously beautifully made and well made, and everyone in
- 2:54Speaker 2: it is talented, and obviously it's a major success and
- 2:58Speaker 2: fucking happy for every buddy, but it's just the strawberry.
- 3:01Speaker 2: For me, I'm just not into it. I was watching
- 3:04Speaker 2: it because Donald loved it so much, and I was
- 3:06Speaker 2: and I texted him like, do I have the right Superman?
- 3:10Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Good look? And then he said and then he said yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I love it so much. And then I said, I
- 3:15Speaker 2: wrote back, Wait, that's what I wrote. I go, We'll
- 3:17Speaker 2: always have La la land.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Joel.
- 3:20Speaker 3: He hates it, Joel, he hates I wanted to get
- 3:25Speaker 3: him to watch Fantastic For.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I don't think that I'll try them.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Don't do that, don't Joe.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Did you like did you like the news Fantastic For?
- 3:36Speaker 4: I loved Superman, loved it so three times in theaters.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Talked to James Gunn. I interviewed the whole cast. It
- 3:43Speaker 4: was amazing and and everyone's really sweet. I think the
- 3:46Speaker 4: movie is beautiful and funny. And the stuff he does
- 3:49Speaker 4: with flight, does that not interest you it all? I
- 3:50Speaker 4: thought he's doing some interesting camera work with the flight
- 3:52Speaker 4: in the movement on Superman that was kind of unique
- 3:55Speaker 4: and a lot of.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Again, everyone's everyone's talented. He's obviously brilliant. The movie success,
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's just the strawberry for me.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You got to get that you need a big screen
- 4:06Speaker 3: to watch this ship Man, because I tried to watch.
- 4:08Speaker 1: This song have a pretty big screen, even super.
- 4:12Speaker 3: The way they shot this is made for IMAX, because
- 4:14Speaker 3: Superman is tiny in some of these shots.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I also didn't know like I had to. I literally
- 4:19Speaker 2: was googling these characters again because I don't know d C.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So I was mister terrific and and and girl talk
- 4:28Speaker 2: girl and that. I really didn't understand who the guy
- 4:32Speaker 2: that James Gunn always casts. What's a Nathan Fillyan. I
- 4:35Speaker 2: didn't understand that character at all. I had to look
- 4:36Speaker 2: that guy up.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You didn't understand Guy Gardner.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Why would I know a Guy Gardner if I don't
- 4:41Speaker 2: follow DC comics. I understand if you know d C,
- 4:45Speaker 2: you know comic books, this would all be so exciting
- 4:47Speaker 2: to you. But I kept having to pause and be like, wait,
- 4:49Speaker 2: what who is this guy? What are his powers? I
- 4:52Speaker 2: didn't understand mister Terrific powers at all. I had to
- 4:55Speaker 2: like figure that out first to follow the movie.
- 4:59Speaker 1: That's interesting, Okay, So.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I like the fact that they didn't do an origin
- 5:04Speaker 3: story because everybody knows how Superman got to Earth.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Everybody knows what his parents, you know.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I like that there was a twist on it because
- 5:11Speaker 3: everybody knows what his parent why his parents sent him
- 5:14Speaker 3: to Earth. He was He wasn't supposed to rule planet Earth,
- 5:18Speaker 3: but he was supposed to be like a god to
- 5:21Speaker 3: the humans and protect them, you know what I mean?
- 5:23Speaker 3: That was his that was his mission I saw. I
- 5:27Speaker 3: liked that twist. I like the fact that there's characters
- 5:30Speaker 3: in here that nobody has fucking ever heard of except
- 5:33Speaker 3: for people like me and Joell, like mister Terrific and
- 5:37Speaker 3: fucking Hawk Girl and Guy Gardner Green Lantern. I love
- 5:41Speaker 3: that fact. I love the fact that Lex Luthor is
- 5:44Speaker 3: a freaking isn't just a pompous asshole, He's actually pretty smart.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean, And he's like he's supposed
- 5:52Speaker 1: to be. He's supposed to be this.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Witty, uh smart guy, and a lot of these movies
- 5:58Speaker 3: they've missed that and just made him miss Tyrant, who
- 6:01Speaker 3: is only whose only interest is to destroy Superman. The
- 6:06Speaker 3: only reason why he wants to destroy Superman is because
- 6:09Speaker 3: Superman's freaking stopping him from taking over the Earth.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And that's the only reason why he hates this guy.
- 6:15Speaker 3: And he disguises it with all of this other bullshit,
- 6:17Speaker 3: but the reason why is because this is the one thing,
- 6:20Speaker 3: the one thing that could stop him is this fucking
- 6:24Speaker 3: dude who drives, who flies around in under ruths.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I love this.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I love the way James Gunn portrayed it. I hate it.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's kind of like he's kind of like Tony Stark.
- 6:36Speaker 3: No, he's Lex luthor Is. He's an evil Tony Stark exactly.
- 6:43Speaker 2: His company, like all these people who work for him,
- 6:46Speaker 2: they're like and then all the Hawaiian shirts on the beach,
- 6:49Speaker 2: like I just didn't get, Like I didn't get like
- 6:52Speaker 2: they're all just they're down to be evil. They're just
- 6:55Speaker 2: kind of like evil henchmen.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Well y like imagine, yeah, we talked.
- 7:00Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, I was just gonna I
- 7:02Speaker 4: was just gonna say, I think James Gunn really leans
- 7:05Speaker 4: into the comic book aspect of it, where Marvel really
- 7:08Speaker 4: the history of Marvel. They really try to be grounded
- 7:11Speaker 4: at the grounded you can be with like superheroes who
- 7:13Speaker 4: fly and stuff. They like, they want to place you
- 7:15Speaker 4: in New York, you're familiar with everything, should feel sort
- 7:17Speaker 4: of like techtile and connected timeline wise. Uh, he's going
- 7:22Speaker 4: a different direction. He's like, I'm gonna lean into the
- 7:24Speaker 4: old school comp For example, no one ever thought mister
- 7:26Speaker 4: Terrific could work on screen. Like, people who knew mister
- 7:29Speaker 4: Terrific and liked mister Terrific were like, why would you
- 7:32Speaker 4: put him on screen? That's so weird. He's a weird, strange,
- 7:35Speaker 4: like abject character. But he made it work for me.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I thought, I was like, Wow, this is a Misterrific
- 7:40Speaker 4: I could get behind. He's like super funny. He's uh
- 7:45Speaker 4: like wearing the suit and it matches the comic book
- 7:47Speaker 4: and somehow it doesn't feel stupid to me. It's like
- 7:50Speaker 4: utterly charming. Somebody described this movie as a Saturday morning
- 7:55Speaker 4: cartoon with a multimillion dollar budget, and I think that's appropriate.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Uh It's it's fun, and it's light, it's gorgeous, and
- 8:03Speaker 4: the fight scenes look good. So it's got everything I
- 8:05Speaker 4: want out of a superhero movie. And I think the
- 8:09Speaker 4: emotional connect throughout that you know, maybe that's the real
- 8:13Speaker 4: punk rock. It's a corny as hell line, but damn
- 8:16Speaker 4: it, it got me. It touches me right here in my heart.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I mean, there's so many other things that we could
- 8:24Speaker 3: talk about with Superman. But Joelle, when I said Fantastic For,
- 8:28Speaker 3: you would like, don't see Fantastic For. So you didn't
- 8:31Speaker 3: like Fantastic Four.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Listen, here's the thing. What I was saying, very specifically,
- 8:35Speaker 4: was that if Zach didn't like Superman, he should absolutely not.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Check out Fantastic For.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I don't think Fantastic I liked parts of fanta there's
- 8:45Speaker 4: scenes and Fantastic four, the silver Surfer on the volcano
- 8:50Speaker 4: lava thing, fantastic. Parts of the introduction of Galactus was
- 8:54Speaker 4: really cool. I think scale wise not consistent throughout, and
- 8:58Speaker 4: that really bothers me, because whether you like Eturnals or not,
- 9:01Speaker 4: you can't deny the scale in that movie. Is spectacular,
- 9:04Speaker 4: and I thought, if you could nail it there, why
- 9:06Speaker 4: not hear confusing? And then two, while I thought the
- 9:10Speaker 4: family dynamics were cute, they didn't drive the narrative and
- 9:16Speaker 4: that really bummed me out. I was like, it's supposed
- 9:18Speaker 4: to be a family drama after the Superhero movie, and
- 9:21Speaker 4: that's not what we got. And so I'm a little
- 9:24Speaker 4: I was a little tuned out. We'll have to see
- 9:27Speaker 4: what Marvel does next. I'm hopeful.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Let's let's let's segue off of DC comics for now,
- 9:33Speaker 2: for the multi Marvel comics, let's segue off of comics
- 9:36Speaker 2: in general. We have some news to tell you. After
- 9:42Speaker 2: Donald's counts.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Us Shore, we made about a bunch of.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I said, here's a story natural.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Around here. Yeah, you know, I was thinking on my
- 10:10Speaker 2: way to this recording session about the day my parents
- 10:15Speaker 2: told us they were getting divorced.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, I was.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I was. I was eight years old. And my parents
- 10:24Speaker 2: did it in two sessions because there were the older
- 10:27Speaker 2: kids and there were the younger kids. So they had
- 10:29Speaker 2: sort of a matinee and an evening performance, and we
- 10:33Speaker 2: were called into the Uh. The older kids went first
- 10:40Speaker 2: and UH and then they took a break. I think
- 10:43Speaker 2: they probably had the inner mission and then they and
- 10:46Speaker 2: then they called me and my sister in and sat
- 10:50Speaker 2: us down, uh chriss cross apple sauce on their bedroom
- 10:54Speaker 2: floor and uh and told us they were getting divorced.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And it was very sad, but ultimately, ultimately they both
- 11:06Speaker 2: ended up with people that were a way better fit
- 11:10Speaker 2: for themselves. So it was painful at eight, but now
- 11:15Speaker 2: at fifty, I'm so happy that it happened. So we
- 11:26Speaker 2: The good of the divorce news is just that we
- 11:30Speaker 2: The good news is is that we, as you probably
- 11:33Speaker 2: may have read in the in the news, it finally happened.
- 11:37Speaker 2: We are going to reboot Scrubs with Donald Faison and
- 11:43Speaker 2: Zach Brown. Funderous applause, Daniel and Sarah. Everyone's coming back.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Everybody's everybody, everybody. Everybody's coming back. Not everyone's going to
- 11:54Speaker 2: be in every episode, obviously off to work around everybody's schedules,
- 11:57Speaker 2: but everybody's coming back, and it's so much fun and
- 12:01Speaker 2: we're so fucking excited. Thunderous applause. Daniel and I really
- 12:07Speaker 2: want to thank and Donald and I really want to
- 12:09Speaker 2: thank first and foremost, everybody listens to the podcast, because
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think it's obviously it goes without saying, but we
- 12:18Speaker 2: need to say it. The response to this podcast has
- 12:22Speaker 2: certainly been one of the main reasons that we are
- 12:27Speaker 2: have the momentum and the interest to bring back the show,
- 12:32Speaker 2: and so to be super sincere for a moment. Donald
- 12:37Speaker 2: and I really just want to thank every single person
- 12:40Speaker 2: that has listened to this podcast and has stood with
- 12:43Speaker 2: us and listened to us while we are well, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 2: while we did the rewatch, while we've interviewed people, while
- 12:51Speaker 2: you know, so many things have happened, and we just
- 12:54Speaker 2: we want to thank you so much for having an
- 12:56Speaker 2: interest in us. Four of us just babbling. Donald.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy how it all started. It started
- 13:04Speaker 3: from an idea. Somebody talking to me at a birthday
- 13:10Speaker 3: party saying to me, you know, it'd be cool if
- 13:15Speaker 3: you did a rewatch podcast, and I was like, what
- 13:19Speaker 3: the fuck is that?
- 13:20Speaker 1: He was like this something like that.
- 13:22Speaker 3: But I'm working with these people called the office ladies,
- 13:27Speaker 3: and I would be really cool if you and you could,
- 13:30Speaker 3: if you could get Zach to do it, that'd be great.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I called up Zach and I was like, Zach, would
- 13:34Speaker 3: you do this? And usually when I call up Zach.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Zach's like, Ah, what the fuck is it?
- 13:40Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't and he was like, yeah, I.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Meant because he's like, do you want to do a
- 13:44Speaker 2: game show?
- 13:45Speaker 3: No? Right, and he was like and he literally was like, yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 3: I'm into it.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And then tell Hi about the first meeting we had.
- 13:54Speaker 2: But then you relate to.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I was late because I was. I was so fucking
- 13:57Speaker 3: baked too. I was high out of my mind.
- 13:59Speaker 2: We went to him meeting. I think I may have
- 14:01Speaker 2: been hungover. I think I was still drinking. Yeah, I
- 14:05Speaker 2: remember being I remember I think I was still drinking
- 14:08Speaker 2: a lot at the time, and I remember my head
- 14:10Speaker 2: was fucking swelling. And I remember sitting in the stranger's
- 14:14Speaker 2: house just waiting for Donald, who was so late. But
- 14:17Speaker 2: I was like, Donald probably forgot about this meeting. And
- 14:19Speaker 2: I'm sitting here small talking with this guy.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And we had the meeting.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Donald comes in wreaking like cannabis sativa. Yeah, and we.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Sit down and he explains to us what the podcast
- 14:30Speaker 3: thing would be, and we're like, yeah, that's great. And
- 14:33Speaker 3: it didn't work out, you know what I mean, for
- 14:35Speaker 3: some reason it didn't work out, And well.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I think we got hip to like, I think we
- 14:39Speaker 2: got him to like what the kind of the office
- 14:42Speaker 2: lady I had spoke. I had a great talk with
- 14:44Speaker 2: Jenni Fisher. I remember that and she explained it all
- 14:48Speaker 2: to me, and you know, because she she was the
- 14:50Speaker 2: perfect person to talk to. And then uh, and then
- 14:54Speaker 2: then then we kind of kind of got hip to like,
- 14:56Speaker 2: oh that what he was offering us wasn't a very
- 14:58Speaker 2: good setup for us, Like, would be way better for
- 15:00Speaker 2: us to you know, just go to iHeart directly. And
- 15:03Speaker 2: we didn't need him.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And so we we started talking to people and iHeart
- 15:11Speaker 3: understood it and got the got the eye, got what
- 15:13Speaker 3: we were and they were like, you know, we're going
- 15:18Speaker 3: to give you some guys to.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Help you, you know, with the show.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So we're gonna give you a producer and we're going
- 15:24Speaker 2: to give you an engineer. And don't worry, they are
- 15:26Speaker 2: not going to talk at all.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Right, It's just going to be you, guys.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's going to be you guys. Joel is there to
- 15:34Speaker 2: facilitate the production. Daniel is there to record and provide
- 15:38Speaker 2: you with the gear. And do you remember when Daniel
- 15:40Speaker 2: it was It was literally beginning of March twenty twenty,
- 15:44Speaker 2: Daniel came over in a hazmat suit. Fully, yes, like
- 15:47Speaker 2: like the people in ET, you know, at the end
- 15:50Speaker 2: of ET. That's what Daniel looked like as he gave
- 15:52Speaker 2: me a like a bag with all the gear in it. Yep, Daniel,
- 15:59Speaker 2: this is where you come. Remember vividly. I remember, remember, Daniel,
- 16:03Speaker 2: what were.
- 16:03Speaker 3: You thinking answering the door and being like just drop
- 16:05Speaker 3: it off in front?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Daniel? What was your Daniel, what was your very first
- 16:09Speaker 2: and well I guess you didn't meet Donald, but what
- 16:11Speaker 2: was your first impression of me and your has Matt suit?
- 16:14Speaker 2: I mean I was.
- 16:15Speaker 5: I was kind of caught up in how silly this
- 16:18Speaker 5: all was, where I'm like literally masked up, gloved up,
- 16:21Speaker 5: bringing you this equipment that I had just wiped down
- 16:23Speaker 5: with the chlorox. Yeah, and but also you know, trying
- 16:28Speaker 5: to contain myself as such big fans of you guys
- 16:31Speaker 5: that it was like just be be chill. I couldn't
- 16:34Speaker 5: see if you were being chill. I couldn't see you
- 16:36Speaker 5: in your he has Matt suit exactly. Give it contained
- 16:40Speaker 5: all of the the nervous shaking, but it was it
- 16:43Speaker 5: was definitely weird, definitely weird looking back at it five
- 16:45Speaker 5: years later and then.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Joelle did I forgot did wed you before?
- 16:52Speaker 4: No, So your first call to discuss what the Joel.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You're doing NPR voice.
- 16:59Speaker 4: About this is how I sound now. I've evolved, you.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Have, but Joelle, you have met like your your evolution
- 17:09Speaker 3: is massive since we started this show.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I know you guys. We have to always remind Joelle
- 17:16Speaker 2: because she's come off of another podcast where she's like,
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'd like to talk about Hunters Quiet Hour.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:30Speaker 4: So I got hired February nineteenth, twenty twenty.
- 17:35Speaker 2: That was my first day.
- 17:37Speaker 4: So I had been in the office for like two
- 17:40Speaker 4: and a half weeks. I was early birds, I was opening.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I was the first person in the office every day,
- 17:45Speaker 4: just hanging out with Jack, who's the president of the
- 17:47Speaker 4: Los Angeles division. And one day I come in and
- 17:50Speaker 4: he's like, hey, did you watch Scrubs?
- 17:53Speaker 1: And I was like, I love Scrubs. Why.
- 17:54Speaker 4: He's like, Zack and Donald are gonna call in half
- 17:57Speaker 4: an hour and we need someone to pitch them a show. Okay,
- 18:01Speaker 4: is it like a rewatch? They're like, yeah, I do
- 18:03Speaker 4: rewatch this in my sleeves, I mean my bread butter.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Let's go so I literally hopped on the phone like
- 18:08Speaker 4: twenty minutes after that and pitched you guys the show,
- 18:11Speaker 4: and we kind of just moved forward from there.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I think we liked you so much. You
- 18:16Speaker 2: were so charming and fun and we were like, wow,
- 18:18Speaker 2: that's a no brainer, let's go with her.
- 18:21Speaker 4: It worked out.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Then we freaking and then we did our first episode.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Do you remember the first episode?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Like I I remember, I cut.
- 18:29Speaker 2: So it'll be funny. Actually, you know, Daniel, why don't
- 18:31Speaker 2: you cut it to our very first moments? Here? Okay,
- 18:36Speaker 2: here's a little here's a little clip from our here's
- 18:38Speaker 2: a here's a little clip from our our very first
- 18:41Speaker 2: time on the mics. Hello everyone, my name is Zach.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Braf Hi, I'm Tonald Faison.
- 18:48Speaker 2: And I can't believe it, but guess what, guys, We're
- 18:50Speaker 2: gonna do a Scrubs rewatch podcast.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly what we're doing. Dude, your voice changed
- 18:56Speaker 3: completely all of a sudden.
- 18:57Speaker 1: We were all talking normal. I know, a podcast started.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Tell you everyone it is. I.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I got nervous and I felt like I should sound
- 19:05Speaker 2: like a radio broadcaster. But no, okay, I'm back to me.
- 19:08Speaker 1: There we go. This is pretty exciting. I'm excited about it.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, I'm very excited that We've been
- 19:14Speaker 2: talking about this for a long time. We've been trying
- 19:17Speaker 2: to figure it out. I've been teasing social media, as
- 19:20Speaker 2: have you been.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Oh, you've been teasing social media a little bit more
- 19:24Speaker 3: than I have.
- 19:25Speaker 2: But I know because I wanted to get people tittilated. Donald.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I wanted to titillate the masses.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Well, let's thank iHeartRadio first of all for putting this
- 19:33Speaker 3: and helping us Besulty.
- 19:34Speaker 2: We had to figure out who to do it, and
- 19:35Speaker 2: we found a perfect partner with iHeart, and we want
- 19:38Speaker 2: to thank them. And also we want to thank the
- 19:40Speaker 2: fans across the universe, because I just think it's to
- 19:43Speaker 2: be crazy for us not to start with saying we
- 19:46Speaker 2: wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for the just
- 19:49Speaker 2: incredibly loyal, amazing fan base we have around the earth,
- 19:52Speaker 2: right Donal.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Thank you very much, all of you who watched the
- 19:56Speaker 3: show and who are listening to this podcast right now. Wow,
- 19:59Speaker 3: we appreciate you so much. Thank you so much.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you. I mean, this has been so many
- 20:03Speaker 2: years of love for this show, and you know, it's
- 20:05Speaker 2: funny I'm sure Donald you have this experience too, where
- 20:07Speaker 2: people come up to the street like, I'm sure this
- 20:09Speaker 2: is so annoying, But I just want to say I
- 20:10Speaker 2: love the show, and I'm like, I'm always like, it's
- 20:12Speaker 2: not annoying. Are you kidding me? That's like the best
- 20:14Speaker 2: comment you can give us.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So, well, it's annoying when you're eating food.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe you're eating food and somebody comes up to
- 20:19Speaker 3: you and they're like, sorry to bother you.
- 20:21Speaker 1: You know, at first, why are you saying sorry to
- 20:23Speaker 1: bother you? You're not sorry to bother me. You meant to
- 20:26Speaker 1: bother me at that moment, you know what I mean.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, just guys, if you're gonna see Donald in public,
- 20:30Speaker 2: don't do it while he's eating. Maybe just or with
- 20:31Speaker 2: my kids.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I don't play that.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all right, we'll just wait outside the restaurant
- 20:35Speaker 2: for it in a dark in a dark alley.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I remember when that became a thing, and we're back.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We used to always do another one. Let's talk about
- 20:53Speaker 1: the greatest hits. Let's go the greatest hits.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Well, I uh I. Before we get to that, I
- 20:59Speaker 2: just want to say the obvious to everybody that we
- 21:02Speaker 2: are going to stop doing the podcast for now. We
- 21:05Speaker 2: don't want to say it's over forever. We want to
- 21:08Speaker 2: say bye for now because it is going to be
- 21:13Speaker 2: a little tricky for Donald and I to go all
- 21:16Speaker 2: in and on making Scrubs and also be responsible and
- 21:21Speaker 2: turn in podcasts regularly. You know, when you have a
- 21:24Speaker 2: deal with iHeart, you obviously commit to making a certain
- 21:27Speaker 2: amount of episodes for them. And they've been amazing. I
- 21:30Speaker 2: want to shout out iHeart. They have been the fucking
- 21:32Speaker 2: best partner. But it's not realistic for us to go
- 21:35Speaker 2: make scrubs and also be able to make tons of
- 21:40Speaker 2: episodes of this show. So this is our buye for
- 21:44Speaker 2: now episode. We hope to I hope there's an incarnation
- 21:48Speaker 2: we can all get reunited and we'll reboot the podcast. Donald,
- 21:53Speaker 2: there you go.
- 21:54Speaker 1: That's a great idea.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But you know, I know a lot of you been asking, hey,
- 21:58Speaker 2: what are you guys?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Did you just think of that?
- 22:00Speaker 2: I'm very quick witted, don't we. We We know you
- 22:05Speaker 2: guys have been saying hey, where are you? And we've
- 22:07Speaker 2: been kind of quiet because we were just trying to
- 22:09Speaker 2: figure out, like, is it possible? Is that going to
- 22:11Speaker 2: be doable? And it just it isn't it isn't fair
- 22:15Speaker 2: to uh the fans who who if you're into a show,
- 22:18Speaker 2: are listening every week and uh, and so we're going
- 22:22Speaker 2: to say bye for now. But but we can keep
- 22:25Speaker 2: reminiscing and talking about our greatest hits. My favorite moment
- 22:29Speaker 2: I think was I've had so many, but one of
- 22:32Speaker 2: them was uh the sex therapist, Uh, coaching Donald and
- 22:40Speaker 2: Casey on their on their love life. That was the
- 22:43Speaker 2: greatest hit for me. Where we learned the term choremants
- 22:49Speaker 2: sure play sorry play? Did you ever end up trying
- 22:55Speaker 2: or play?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I hate short? Play?
- 22:59Speaker 4: That's not for him, that's not long?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Last time? What about when we make everyone?
- 23:04Speaker 1: What about everyone?
- 23:05Speaker 2: We got to make sure we play all the greatest
- 23:06Speaker 2: hit songs. Daniel play here the Joel Monique is down
- 23:10Speaker 2: to get down song, get the word out, all the
- 23:16Speaker 2: Joel Monique is down.
- 23:21Speaker 5: No matter what's between your eggs tomorrow morning, you could
- 23:24Speaker 5: be make an egg.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Joel money, get down, get down. Oh yeah, Joel Moneique
- 23:31Speaker 2: gets down.
- 23:31Speaker 4: And so the song people will still randomly sing to
- 23:36Speaker 4: if I'm at a convention or something, this is me there,
- 23:40Speaker 4: They're they're belting it. It is a fun song.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It's catchy.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Wow, it is a very hooky song.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Joel.
- 23:45Speaker 2: That's when we took a brief dabble into trying to
- 23:47Speaker 2: be matchmakers for Joel.
- 23:50Speaker 1: How'd that work out? Are you guys still talking?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Are still we don't know about it?
- 23:55Speaker 1: You guys still talk?
- 23:57Speaker 2: No, that's what there is?
- 23:59Speaker 1: Time nice?
- 24:00Speaker 2: She was very nice. That was very sweet. And Daniel,
- 24:04Speaker 2: how's your life going in New York with your with
- 24:07Speaker 2: your with your new setup.
- 24:09Speaker 5: It's great, you know, not not too much has changed.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Still just me, wife and dog. But we love Brooklyn.
- 24:15Speaker 5: We uh, you know, love New York. I miss l
- 24:18Speaker 5: A a lot, but we're very happy here. So all
- 24:21Speaker 5: good things. How do you feel, Donald right now? What
- 24:24Speaker 5: do you What's what's the feeling in your heart?
- 24:27Speaker 1: In my heart right now?
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yes? What do you feel? Share with us?
- 24:30Speaker 1: Well?
- 24:30Speaker 3: I just feel like we have so much to talk about,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and it sucks that we got to talk about how
- 24:34Speaker 3: this is.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Coming to an end.
- 24:36Speaker 3: But I feel like there's so many other things that
- 24:38Speaker 3: are going on right now that could be talked about.
- 24:42Speaker 2: But well, you can talk about whatever you want. We
- 24:44Speaker 2: don't solely have to. I just wanted to get together
- 24:47Speaker 2: with you guys, and say, uh, you know, it felt weird.
- 24:51Speaker 2: You know, behind the scenes we were talking about, hey,
- 24:54Speaker 2: I think we're going to stop the podcast for now,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and then it felt weird to not checking in with
- 25:00Speaker 2: the audience and said hey, we love you, and uh
- 25:04Speaker 2: and thank you for all the support. I think it's
- 25:07Speaker 2: it's very clear to Donald and I that it had
- 25:09Speaker 2: not been for the reception of this podcast. And then
- 25:13Speaker 2: of course the success of the T mobile ads that
- 25:16Speaker 2: that that are have become quite popular, that that that
- 25:21Speaker 2: energy totally you know, created an interest for a scrubsy boot.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Absolutely, it definitely. It definitely rejuvenized our romance too, as
- 25:32Speaker 3: far as people being interested in our romance. The fact
- 25:37Speaker 3: that we got together and were and people got to
- 25:39Speaker 3: see an inside on what it's like to be us.
- 25:43Speaker 3: You know, you look at married couples and celebrity couples
- 25:46Speaker 3: and stuff like that, and you and you always wonder,
- 25:49Speaker 3: I wonder what they're like.
- 25:50Speaker 1: In real life, you know what I mean.
- 25:52Speaker 3: And people got to see us, People got to see
- 25:55Speaker 3: you know, you could release the fight, Dan will release the.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Fight, No, don't. Really. The only thing, the only thing
- 26:01Speaker 2: we didn't share with people, uh, was was the fight.
- 26:06Speaker 2: I think that we were very open. Donald was very
- 26:08Speaker 2: open about his sex life and and uh and marijuana, yes, marijuana,
- 26:16Speaker 2: his struggles with his marriage. We were all very candid.
- 26:22Speaker 2: You know, we didn't we didn't censor too much just
- 26:24Speaker 2: to fight. You know, It's funny. There's a room of
- 26:26Speaker 2: Scrubs writers that are brilliant and funny people that are
- 26:29Speaker 2: writing the new show and Uh, they've been so enjoying
- 26:33Speaker 2: listening to the podcast because the podcast is such a
- 26:37Speaker 2: wealth of information on on Donald uh and me. And
- 26:44Speaker 2: they were like, hey, can we hear the fight? And
- 26:48Speaker 2: I was like, there's like so many podcast episodes. Why
- 26:51Speaker 2: do you need to have a fight. They're like, well,
- 26:52Speaker 2: we kind of got into the show and now we
- 26:53Speaker 2: want to hear. Then I get it.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I get it. We want to get but that's yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But that's the thing.
- 27:01Speaker 3: That's what was so great about this is that it
- 27:04Speaker 3: also gave us an excuse to freaking talk to each
- 27:06Speaker 3: other every day, and if anything, had built our relationship
- 27:09Speaker 3: even stronger, you know what I mean? Yeah, I enjoy
- 27:13Speaker 3: having our face times now where we FaceTime each other.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, now we just do our own podcasts where we
- 27:18Speaker 2: just FaceTime each other.
- 27:19Speaker 1: You know what, I mean, like I like that ship,
- 27:21Speaker 1: like it's.
- 27:23Speaker 2: It's tell them how I sometimes answer the phone.
- 27:26Speaker 3: So look, And I was saying this in the writer's
- 27:28Speaker 3: room too. I was telling all.
- 27:30Speaker 2: The writers they can't use this on on ABC.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Sometimes Zach answers the phone. Pretend the phone this this,
- 27:38Speaker 3: this camera right here is the phone. He'll answer it
- 27:41Speaker 3: like this.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Ever give the audience can't see that. I give him
- 27:48Speaker 2: a pew. I provide him with I provide him with
- 27:55Speaker 2: the I provide him with the point of view as
- 27:58Speaker 2: though he were flating me. God, he goes no, no, no, no,
- 28:09Speaker 2: no no no, not that, not that, not that, not that,
- 28:13Speaker 2: Oh my god. And if he's a good behavior, I'll
- 28:17Speaker 2: give him like top cube, like.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Just just just a little.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Edge of pue while as a reward for doing something funny.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I hear your back on.
- 28:29Speaker 1: The Gandra Donald's back on the weed. Are you yeah, man? Absolutely?
- 28:35Speaker 2: I know, I know. I could I put two and
- 28:37Speaker 2: two together that you returned to the your favorite.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Is that because I showed you a spaceship. I was
- 28:42Speaker 3: trying to segue into uh into stop motion animation.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Brother, Well before you do that, I could just tell
- 28:50Speaker 2: because you spend a lot of time, almost all your
- 28:53Speaker 2: free time, awake time, stop motion animating, and I know
- 28:58Speaker 2: that that pairs nicely for you with ganja.
- 29:02Speaker 1: So so hold on now.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And then I asked you if you were training, and
- 29:08Speaker 2: you said no, and my brain went, I'll bet he's
- 29:11Speaker 2: back on the ganja sauce.
- 29:14Speaker 1: So here's the deal. Go ahead right now.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I am really trying to level up in stop motion animation.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And when I say level up, I'm trying to get
- 29:23Speaker 3: to a level where I can do what I see
- 29:27Speaker 3: in my mind's eye, on to on.
- 29:32Speaker 1: To whatever it is.
- 29:34Speaker 3: I'm whatever whatever it is, I'm shooting using my hands
- 29:39Speaker 3: stop motion wise, and so because of that, I am
- 29:43Speaker 3: consistently animating now and I am I and sometimes marijuana
- 29:51Speaker 3: does parallel with it. But my time right now is
- 29:57Speaker 3: one hundred and Ladies, I know it's so sexy. Holla
- 30:01Speaker 3: at your boy, Yeah, but I spend my time in
- 30:04Speaker 3: a dark room playing with toys.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Baby yeah, hell yeah yeah.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Baby, making toys move. Ladies, swoon, Zach.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I love you, Zach, love you.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I want to make sure you get all the sound
- 30:16Speaker 2: effects into this episode. You to do your greatest hits. Yeah, Well,
- 30:21Speaker 2: go for yours as the kids say, right, Donald, go
- 30:24Speaker 2: for yours?
- 30:25Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I mean it's it's it's look I really
- 30:29Speaker 3: enjoy I thought I was. I thought this would be
- 30:32Speaker 3: something that I did as when I was a kid,
- 30:34Speaker 3: I thought I'd be an animator. If you ask my
- 30:36Speaker 3: mom or anybody who knew me. I wasn't just into
- 30:40Speaker 3: Star Wars because of the story, but I wanted Like
- 30:43Speaker 3: I remember one year my mom asked me, you know
- 30:46Speaker 3: what do you want for Christmas? And I said, a
- 30:48Speaker 3: blue screen? You know what I mean, Like, that's that's
- 30:53Speaker 3: what it is for me and so and it's always
- 30:54Speaker 3: been that and so I have a I have a
- 30:58Speaker 3: crazy action your toy fetish, but it's only because I
- 31:02Speaker 3: dream of animating it all one day.
- 31:05Speaker 2: And you you know, I got Donald for one of
- 31:08Speaker 2: his birthdays. These stop motion figures of us? Have you
- 31:13Speaker 2: and have you moved on to using those.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I have as a matter of fact, And that's what
- 31:19Speaker 3: I'm animating right now. I'm animating one of the character
- 31:25Speaker 3: that you made of me me.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I showed it to you.
- 31:29Speaker 6: I would like to talk to talk to you about
- 31:34Speaker 6: some of the things that you do, but no, sincerely,
- 31:38Speaker 6: Scandal noted right.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Scandal noted, I made a stop motion animation with the
- 31:46Speaker 3: puppet that you gave me. This is just a blocking
- 31:49Speaker 3: I'm gonna see if I could show it to you
- 31:50Speaker 3: guys on this and if it's.
- 31:59Speaker 1: It's from Alaska.
- 32:02Speaker 2: A double wow. Why don't you pick on somebody your
- 32:09Speaker 2: own disposition please, mister barroom brawler. Wow, don't hurt me
- 32:16Speaker 2: or anything like that. This looks great, wow, so good
- 32:21Speaker 2: with the vowels, with the mouth moves so smooth. How
- 32:27Speaker 2: many It's amazing so audience for those who don't know
- 32:30Speaker 2: and don't can't see this, it's amazing. Looks professional as
- 32:35Speaker 2: hell of of a figuring of Donald's a puppet we
- 32:39Speaker 2: made of Donald. But explain how the mouths work because
- 32:43Speaker 2: the vowels and the mouth moves flawlessly. And each time
- 32:47Speaker 2: he's swapping out, it's like a magnet, right, and you're
- 32:50Speaker 2: swapping out a different mouth.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:52Speaker 3: So the guy sent me puppets with with magnets that
- 32:57Speaker 3: you pull the mouths are conected to magnets and you
- 33:01Speaker 3: literally pull off a jaw and put a different jaw on.
- 33:06Speaker 2: And when he said to us, how do you how
- 33:08Speaker 2: do you mean? Explain what you had? You choose which
- 33:13Speaker 2: mounts and.
- 33:13Speaker 3: All that, well, you kind of recognize the shape in time.
- 33:18Speaker 3: This is actually is the easiest part of stop motion.
- 33:21Speaker 3: The hardest part of stop motion is the movement and
- 33:23Speaker 3: doing little movement and still being able to see it,
- 33:27Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So you know the weight
- 33:30Speaker 3: shifts and all of that stuff. If it's too big,
- 33:32Speaker 3: it looks unnatural. But the smaller it is, the more
- 33:35Speaker 3: you believe it, and the more lifelike it looks, and
- 33:38Speaker 3: the more.
- 33:38Speaker 2: You got really good shows you got that looks amazing.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I take a couple of hours, but that's that's but
- 33:48Speaker 3: that was That's a blocking. That wasn't even the hero shots.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So I did the blocking, and now I'm on the
- 33:54Speaker 3: hero shot and the hero shot is way harder, and
- 33:58Speaker 3: I'm gonna go.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Was because it's not it's not good. It's not good radio,
- 34:02Speaker 2: because this is just radio. We love you, but people
- 34:06Speaker 2: can't see it.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I want to show y'all, just to show y'all.
- 34:08Speaker 2: But okay, okay, it's really impressive.
- 34:12Speaker 1: We'll check it out.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Send it to the group shot to Donald and we
- 34:15Speaker 2: will look at it. Bill Lawrence was talking about making
- 34:20Speaker 2: this Turk's hobby because Donald is so into it, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: Bill loves to pull from our real lives. And I
- 34:27Speaker 2: was talking to Bill and I said, you know, Turk
- 34:30Speaker 2: should have a hobby that he's so obsessed with, because
- 34:34Speaker 2: Donald is so obsessed with a hobby, and that could
- 34:36Speaker 2: be an interesting thing to fold in and like the
- 34:38Speaker 2: obvious doctor thing would be like golf or something. And
- 34:42Speaker 2: I said that, Bill, uh, you know, we should brainstorm
- 34:46Speaker 2: on that, and he's like, I think we should make
- 34:47Speaker 2: it stop motion animation, just like Donald's into. So I
- 34:50Speaker 2: don't know if that's going to actually happen or not,
- 34:52Speaker 2: but he was That's what he was saying.
- 34:54Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 34:56Speaker 3: It's great storytelling, and it's a way that I could
- 34:58Speaker 3: tell stories without how having to be as big as
- 35:03Speaker 3: big of without needing as big of a production as
- 35:06Speaker 3: it would cout to do like Superman or or an
- 35:11Speaker 3: actual Star Wars or just.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Any an independent film, you know what I mean.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Like, and you know, I was saying to my wife,
- 35:22Speaker 3: I was like, you know, Zach has Zach has hobbies
- 35:25Speaker 3: and stuff like that, but his other passion is directing
- 35:28Speaker 3: and stuff like that. I was like, I wish I
- 35:29Speaker 3: had something like that. She was like, you do it's
- 35:31Speaker 3: stop motion. That's your version of directing, that's your version
- 35:35Speaker 3: of you know, you might not be dealing with egos,
- 35:38Speaker 3: and you might not be dealing with, you know, as
- 35:41Speaker 3: much of the puzzle as Zach is dealing with, but
- 35:44Speaker 3: it's the same.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It's almost the exact same thing.
- 35:47Speaker 3: You're setting up, you're telling, you're trying to tell the
- 35:49Speaker 3: story that's true.
- 35:51Speaker 2: And also you can do it on your and you
- 35:53Speaker 2: can do it by just walking in your garage and focusing.
- 35:55Speaker 2: You know, one thing about being a director. And obviously
- 35:59Speaker 2: you can make short films and just shoot something small,
- 36:01Speaker 2: but in making the things I've been making, you sit
- 36:05Speaker 2: around waiting a lot for things to actually happen, and
- 36:08Speaker 2: you have the added benefit that you can just go
- 36:10Speaker 2: and make shit.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Yeah that Wu Tang forever? Who Tang forever? Ever and ever?
- 36:17Speaker 3: I want to ask a question because I heard meme
- 36:20Speaker 3: and I thought it was an interesting question.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Wu Tang or outcast?
- 36:28Speaker 4: For me personally, it's just outcast, But that's just because
- 36:30Speaker 4: I have an obsession with andrethe fausend. I think it's
- 36:32Speaker 4: amazing along with the wo outcast rules, they really brought
- 36:38Speaker 4: to the black community.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Yeah, because it's like they're they're different, like you know,
- 36:42Speaker 5: cultural aspects that they both affected, and it's it's like,
- 36:45Speaker 5: you know the way that you know, the way that
- 36:48Speaker 5: like the Riza has like gone on to affect film
- 36:51Speaker 5: is like interesting and like I don't know if I
- 36:55Speaker 5: think Outcast has had a specifically music focused impact, where
- 36:59Speaker 5: it feels like Wu Tang has had, like I don't know,
- 37:01Speaker 5: maybe a a wider ranging cultural impact, but maybe that's
- 37:05Speaker 5: just my perspective.
- 37:06Speaker 4: They got the symbol in it, Zach and Donald Gay
- 37:08Speaker 4: newlyweds in house arrest.
- 37:11Speaker 3: I thought it was the most interesting question to be asked.
- 37:14Speaker 3: It's like, if you're gonna do a if you're gonna
- 37:17Speaker 3: compare two groups, Uh huh, why would you compare those two?
- 37:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 37:23Speaker 3: And a lot of people said Outcasts? Uh which is
- 37:27Speaker 3: which is great? I think Outcast is great. I think
- 37:29Speaker 3: Wu Tang is great. But it was just a weird comparison.
- 37:32Speaker 3: It was like, Wow, Wu Tang or Outcast, Okay, that's legit.
- 37:35Speaker 2: You know, my vote would be for amongst those two
- 37:38Speaker 2: who you haven't gone a lot. Wow. You subverting expectation there.
- 37:48Speaker 1: That's what fans want, That's what all the fans said,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you have been gone.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what they were saying. That's where they when
- 37:53Speaker 2: they saw this pop up in there in their podcast feed,
- 37:57Speaker 2: they went, they have been gone for a while.
- 38:02Speaker 1: You haven't gone for a while, such wrong infliction.
- 38:12Speaker 2: You have been gone for a while. And if you
- 38:15Speaker 2: ever try to direct someone that really is choosing the
- 38:18Speaker 2: wrong word, it's very tricky because you're not supposed to
- 38:21Speaker 2: as a director like just say say say it like this.
- 38:24Speaker 2: It's called giving a line reading, and it's frowned upon.
- 38:27Speaker 2: So you have to find these artful ways to be like, hey,
- 38:29Speaker 2: it feels like you're sort of underlining have and maybe
- 38:35Speaker 2: maybe don't like what if you it feels like you're
- 38:37Speaker 2: putting emphasis? Can I hear what it would sound like
- 38:42Speaker 2: if you weren't underlining the word have?
- 38:44Speaker 1: Do you know what they wanted me to do?
- 38:46Speaker 3: They wanted it to be you have been gone for
- 38:48Speaker 3: a while. They wanted it that way, and you learned
- 38:53Speaker 3: how to make He's like you wanted you learned how
- 38:55Speaker 3: to make coffee. Well, you have been gone for a while.
- 38:58Speaker 2: That's better. That's the way was supposed to be.
- 39:01Speaker 1: You have been gone for a while.
- 39:05Speaker 2: And so director was talking to you. Do you remember
- 39:08Speaker 2: the director saying like, hey, young little Donald. It feels
- 39:12Speaker 2: like they might be.
- 39:14Speaker 3: They were way more They were way more interested in
- 39:17Speaker 3: following the coffee. We do fucking team mobile, you know
- 39:21Speaker 3: what it is, following the coffee to the top of
- 39:23Speaker 3: the hand to my face and then fill you.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Know what I mean.
- 39:26Speaker 3: They were way more interested in that.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You could we try one Donald Junior where you it
- 39:34Speaker 2: feels like it really focused on the word have, And
- 39:38Speaker 2: I'm just kind of curious, you know, let's try a bunch.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Let's just see one where you don't really really emphasize
- 39:44Speaker 2: the word have so much.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Okay, got it? You ready? Yeah, you have been gone
- 39:50Speaker 1: for a while.
- 39:52Speaker 2: M Let's go back to the way you did it.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I always do this dance with actors where you're like,
- 40:07Speaker 2: especially because I'm an actor, I just want to you
- 40:09Speaker 2: want you of course, you just want to be like,
- 40:10Speaker 2: just say it like this, but you're not supposed to
- 40:13Speaker 2: do that. It's like, it's like not people don't like it,
- 40:16Speaker 2: so you have to do this whole dance. And then
- 40:19Speaker 2: a lot of actors, including myself, will be like, dude,
- 40:21Speaker 2: just tell me how you want me to say it,
- 40:22Speaker 2: And then they're like, oh, okay, like this.
- 40:25Speaker 1: That's how I say it. Now, what do you want
- 40:27Speaker 1: me to say?
- 40:27Speaker 2: Many? Yeah, I was telling everyone. And then we spoke
- 40:33Speaker 2: on the show about Bill's techniques. How he's like he
- 40:36Speaker 2: has two specialties. Are you know at the table read,
- 40:39Speaker 2: you did it like this? And then he'll make up
- 40:41Speaker 2: the way he wants it and the person never did
- 40:44Speaker 2: it like that at the table reading brilliant, but brilliant
- 40:48Speaker 2: but Bill. But Bill will be like, you were so
- 40:50Speaker 2: funny when you did it like this at the table read,
- 40:52Speaker 2: and the person's ego is like, oh, I did that
- 40:56Speaker 2: was better? My first things think was bad. And then meanwhile,
- 41:01Speaker 2: the person never did like that. And then the other
- 41:03Speaker 2: thing he does is he just feels like he can
- 41:05Speaker 2: get around and if he says nonsense, so he'll be like,
- 41:08Speaker 2: can you be like d D And they'll be like,
- 41:12Speaker 2: oh okay, like he feels like it's not a line
- 41:14Speaker 2: reading if he just made gibberish noises.
- 41:16Speaker 3: I love directors that, but I'm not gonna lie it.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I like directors that I like that though. I like
- 41:21Speaker 3: directors that'll be like that'll be like, you know, the
- 41:24Speaker 3: timing is and then you say and she said.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Some people, but you're different. Some people are precious about like,
- 41:32Speaker 2: don't tell me how to say it.
- 41:35Speaker 1: You know, I get it, you know.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Some people don't understand that they're part of the story,
- 41:43Speaker 3: not the story.
- 41:44Speaker 1: I get that, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And also sometimes director's wrong, But sometimes I just
- 41:48Speaker 2: want to hear it, like I heard it in my
- 41:50Speaker 2: head like this, Can you just do it like that
- 41:51Speaker 2: once so I can hear it, and then they might
- 41:53Speaker 2: do it and go, oh, you know what, I'm wrong,
- 41:54Speaker 2: keep doing it. I just I had to hear it,
- 41:57Speaker 2: you know.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I had a really good time in directing this new
- 42:02Speaker 2: Steve Carell show that's going to be on HBO. It
- 42:05Speaker 2: doesn't have a title yet. I think I know what
- 42:06Speaker 2: the title is, but they haven't announced it yet. And
- 42:09Speaker 2: it's you guys are gonna love it, audience. It is
- 42:11Speaker 2: a Bill Lawrence jam It's imagine the skill of Bill
- 42:16Speaker 2: Lawrence combined with the genius of Steve Carell. Oh it
- 42:21Speaker 2: is it is. It is a bop. It's so good.
- 42:23Speaker 4: They crying, Oh my god, you are going to.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Be laughing and crying. And Carrel is just the nicest
- 42:31Speaker 2: person I can I'm here to report that if you're
- 42:35Speaker 2: a fan of Steve Carell, he is a gem. He's
- 42:37Speaker 2: such a sweet man. He is so we had just
- 42:40Speaker 2: a blast working together.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I love it that motherfucker goes hard in the paint.
- 42:45Speaker 2: He did it does. He's just straight good and he's
- 42:48Speaker 2: just so kind and he's just you know, it's funny.
- 42:51Speaker 2: He's one of these people like de Niro in a
- 42:55Speaker 2: sense that I had an experience with where between action
- 43:00Speaker 2: and cut, he is the person you all know and
- 43:02Speaker 2: love and is so big and crazy and funny and
- 43:05Speaker 2: Gnaro's case, incredible acting and then they call cut and
- 43:08Speaker 2: the person's like quiet and they go kind of like
- 43:10Speaker 2: to sit down in their chair and you're like, oh
- 43:13Speaker 2: my god. I had that experience with both of those
- 43:15Speaker 2: two people. I was like, Wow, when they're not doing
- 43:17Speaker 2: their thing, they're kind of like quiet. And Carrel is
- 43:20Speaker 2: kind of like that. He's the nicest person you'll ever meet.
- 43:23Speaker 2: But he's not like Steve Carrell on you know, he's
- 43:26Speaker 2: not like, you know, doing like Donald's you know, going
- 43:29Speaker 2: into the audience at the sitcom taping and singing and
- 43:32Speaker 2: singing Belbevdavau them.
- 43:35Speaker 3: Days is over, man, I'm not doing that no more. Really,
- 43:39Speaker 3: I'm not doing that ever.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Again, You're not going to be entertaining the entire crew.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I'm going to start seeing the more serious side of Donald.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I don't want to making myself and I'm going to
- 43:47Speaker 3: talk about myself and the third person. People are going
- 43:50Speaker 3: to start seeing a more serious side of Donald Fazil.
- 43:52Speaker 3: I don't know if you know this, but we're rebooting Scrubs. Guys,
- 43:55Speaker 3: this we have rebooted Scrubs and.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Rebooting and now we're forty eight. We're not spring chickens anymore. Yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 2: you know, and we're still silly people. Donald, you and I.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Absolutely on camera, but when they say cut, you and
- 44:10Speaker 3: I are now going to be really serious.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna take.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I don't think that. That's not my vibe. I love,
- 44:16Speaker 2: I love and respect it. But for me, when I'm
- 44:18Speaker 2: being funny, I kind of got to stay in like funny, silly,
- 44:22Speaker 2: high energy vibe. I'm not the guy who goes back
- 44:24Speaker 2: to his chair and opens like a book.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna start doing that. Yeah,
- 44:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna You're.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Gonna be trying to make the whole crew laugh. Like,
- 44:34Speaker 2: you're doing the T mobile commercials. I'm like, meanwhile, we're
- 44:37Speaker 2: doing the T mobile commercials. And I'm like, dude, save
- 44:38Speaker 2: some of your energy. It's a hot ass day. The
- 44:41Speaker 2: Suite did this last one and it was must have
- 44:43Speaker 2: been one hundred and ten degrees and this dude sweating
- 44:46Speaker 2: his ass off and still still trying to entertain and
- 44:49Speaker 2: make the whole crew laugh. And I'm like, bro, save
- 44:52Speaker 2: your energy. You're sweating your balls off right now, and
- 44:55Speaker 2: like like, calm down.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Listen, Remember I I am changing as of now. Way
- 45:03Speaker 1: that way is old. This is this is a freaking podcast.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Phase on is what you're watching right now.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I see what you're What you're listening to.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Is podcast phase on. When I turned my computer off,
- 45:16Speaker 3: I'm going to get quiet.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I can't pick Trip. I never seen him quiet in
- 45:22Speaker 2: front of we know, we had to do this one
- 45:24Speaker 2: tam Mobile commercial where we were in front of like
- 45:26Speaker 2: it was meant to be like an Oscar spoof, and
- 45:28Speaker 2: we were in front of like two hundred people, and
- 45:32Speaker 2: they were gonna, you know, in post make it look
- 45:34Speaker 2: like thousands of people. But I was like, Donald, you
- 45:36Speaker 2: gotta hold it together. These are two hundred strangers. You
- 45:40Speaker 2: need to let and it's so hard for him. He's
- 45:42Speaker 2: got a mic in his hand, and I know he
- 45:44Speaker 2: wants to like start making them laugh and singing and
- 45:47Speaker 2: like doing stand up and I'm like, bro, Mike.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Was on too yeah, and I was like bro, and
- 45:51Speaker 1: it was on.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Let's have a little chat. You got to hold it together.
- 45:55Speaker 2: You gotta not. We don't have Daniel here to say.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Cut that Daniel.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Ya. I learned that the hard way. Bro.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that cut that Daniel button is one
- 46:07Speaker 3: of the best.
- 46:08Speaker 2: But when you're in your life without cut that danel Oh.
- 46:10Speaker 3: My gosh, cut that Daniel button is the best button
- 46:14Speaker 3: ever in the history of buttons.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Real life sometimes yea, oh my gosh, oh my, in
- 46:22Speaker 2: real life, sometimes you had to cut that Daniel button.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yes, I do, yes, absolutely.
- 46:29Speaker 2: When you like say something so cringe and embarrassing and
- 46:32Speaker 2: you're like, oh no, cut that.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Dan all And at this moment, we're gonna play all
- 46:37Speaker 3: of the things that Dan will cut.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Go ahead, Daniel, Daniel, Daniel never managed to cut this.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Everybody likes a little ass flay.
- 46:48Speaker 3: Don't even act like that, whether it be taking the poop,
- 46:51Speaker 3: whether it be a finger whether it be a tongue,
- 46:54Speaker 3: whether you know everybody likes a.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Little ass flight.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and he also allowed this on the air.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Eat these balls, Zach, Eat these balls, Zach.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Do you like how I'm artfully weaving in all the
- 47:07Speaker 2: sound effects to the show, do? Yeah, you're trying to
- 47:12Speaker 2: miss the sound effects.
- 47:13Speaker 1: You know what you're missing though.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Fuck your sound effects machine, fuck your sound effects.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Have it anymore?
- 47:19Speaker 2: Well? I got them all actually trying to get it. Oh,
- 47:22Speaker 2: I got that baby, here you go. My New York
- 47:24Speaker 2: one has a few that I don't have here. I
- 47:26Speaker 2: forgot which one it has, but we do have this
- 47:28Speaker 2: what you're trying to get into one day, shoon, what
- 47:32Speaker 2: you're trying to do. It's embarrassing how much I sing
- 47:36Speaker 2: that to myself and my own house.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Tell them the new song. Which one song, the one
- 47:44Speaker 1: that what you're trying to get into.
- 47:46Speaker 2: The things you're trying to get into. Oh, I don't
- 47:51Speaker 2: even know what it is a day yo, I don't
- 47:54Speaker 2: even know what it is. I don't even know what
- 47:58Speaker 2: it is. That's a new that's a new verse. These guys,
- 48:05Speaker 2: I literally did not know. No, because it's extendating the song.
- 48:14Speaker 2: So the song is like what are you trying to
- 48:15Speaker 2: get into? Like because Donald used to say that.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Because I don't even know what it is?
- 48:21Speaker 4: About what it.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Is because you're seeing you know, yes, because Donald used
- 48:29Speaker 2: to say the origin of what you trying to get
- 48:31Speaker 2: into was Donald told me that. That's how like that
- 48:34Speaker 2: was like cool guys slang for like, what are you
- 48:36Speaker 2: going to do tonight? What you try to get into?
- 48:38Speaker 2: And I was like, Oh, I'm gonna use that what
- 48:39Speaker 2: you're trying to get into? And then it became what
- 48:40Speaker 2: you're trying to get into a day June, what I'm
- 48:43Speaker 2: trying to do. And then now find myself walking around
- 48:46Speaker 2: the house like trying to extend the song, and I'm like,
- 48:49Speaker 2: I don't even know what it is a day yo,
- 48:52Speaker 2: I don't even know what it is. My dog is
- 48:59Speaker 2: just sitting there watching me. Is I'm like building out
- 49:01Speaker 2: this whole song.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Amazing.
- 49:07Speaker 2: It's embarrassing. If you knew how much I sing about
- 49:09Speaker 2: a day of shooting in my house.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I love it to my dog.
- 49:12Speaker 2: I serenade her with the day of shooting songs.
- 49:15Speaker 1: These make these things make me so happy.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, we spend a lot of time alone,
- 49:20Speaker 2: my dog and I so I sing about you right on.
- 49:25Speaker 1: So what are you trying to say you're lonely?
- 49:27Speaker 2: No, I'm not lonesome. I'm very happy. I must say
- 49:32Speaker 2: I'm very happy. I feel very very blessed and lucky,
- 49:34Speaker 2: and I can't complain about anything.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Lately, Zach, I've been.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Working a lot, and I'm also I think I think
- 49:45Speaker 2: there's something in hitting fifty where you're like, you know what,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I'm going to take stock. I feel very grateful. I
- 49:52Speaker 2: have my health, I love the work that I that
- 49:55Speaker 2: I get to do. I have good friends. I don't
- 49:58Speaker 2: have a wife and a child, which maybe will happen,
- 50:02Speaker 2: maybe won't. But I I stopped myself from complaining about
- 50:06Speaker 2: anything because I'm just I realize how lucky and grateful
- 50:10Speaker 2: I am. That's that's another sincere moment for you. Do
- 50:13Speaker 2: you want me to break it up with this? Zach
- 50:15Speaker 2: and Donald Gay newlyweds in House Arrest.
- 50:20Speaker 1: We should make that movie. I'm gonna make that. I'm
- 50:22Speaker 1: gonna stop motion.
- 50:23Speaker 2: That was a guy that was That guy is so
- 50:27Speaker 2: good and you know that if you recall, he was
- 50:31Speaker 2: pitching what our new show should be.
- 50:35Speaker 1: No, yeah, I remember, and so House Arrest.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Oh there's another, here's another, here's another gem for you.
- 50:49Speaker 2: My pitch for the show was that when we were
- 50:52Speaker 2: thinking about doing a movie was that we finally, somehow
- 50:56Speaker 2: JD comes into money like a patient that you that
- 51:00Speaker 2: loved him leave some of her fortune or something, and
- 51:04Speaker 2: that he finally has this chunk of money to make
- 51:08Speaker 2: the real Doctor Acula movie that he's always dreamed of making.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Maybe you get to see that this year on Scrubs.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Well maybe it could be a fantasy or something. But
- 51:16Speaker 2: I was pitching it like when you were going to
- 51:18Speaker 2: do a movie, as like the main storyline for like
- 51:21Speaker 2: us all getting back together, as JD came into like,
- 51:24Speaker 2: you know, this money and he gets everyone to be like, hey, guys,
- 51:27Speaker 2: one of my life's dreams, which is to make the
- 51:30Speaker 2: Doctor Acula movie. Would you all be in it? And
- 51:33Speaker 2: so that was my pitch. I would love to do
- 51:35Speaker 2: a stop motion fantasy sequence. I've already pitched that to
- 51:39Speaker 2: the guts the writers. Yes, Donald, I was asking Donald,
- 51:42Speaker 2: I said how long would it take, like you know,
- 51:43Speaker 2: like a fifteen second or so fantasy And he was saying, pros,
- 51:47Speaker 2: how long would it take? Donald?
- 51:50Speaker 1: Depends on the quality of the animation. If you want
- 51:52Speaker 1: really good questions.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Well, like you're like you're like your shorts that you
- 51:55Speaker 2: were doing with that you were doing, yeah, checking, no,
- 52:00Speaker 2: the ones you did your own that you will show
- 52:02Speaker 2: you shorts you did.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I'll take a fifteen minute second one, No, fifteen seconds,
- 52:08Speaker 3: fifteen seconds. Depends on what it is. But if it's
- 52:12Speaker 3: if it's really elaborate, it's going to take some time.
- 52:15Speaker 3: If it's really if it's really simple, it's it could
- 52:19Speaker 3: take a few hours.
- 52:21Speaker 1: It depends like.
- 52:22Speaker 2: A week maybe right for.
- 52:25Speaker 3: For fifteen seconds, one animator will take away more than
- 52:27Speaker 3: that probably.
- 52:28Speaker 2: No, I'm saying, what if you had like four animators, Yeah,
- 52:33Speaker 2: a bout a week. I'm just trying to I'm trying
- 52:35Speaker 2: to like talk, I'm trying to sell it to the team, like, well,
- 52:40Speaker 2: one time we should do a stop motion fantasy since
- 52:43Speaker 2: we have the puppets and andy. So just let's let's let's.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Say listen if we if you I have the guy,
- 52:51Speaker 3: I got the peeps, I could do it.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I got that'll get a little further along. I'm gonna
- 52:56Speaker 2: have you. I'll probably have you put handle our our
- 53:00Speaker 2: producer in touch with them because I would love to
- 53:03Speaker 2: have it like something they actually do, and then they're
- 53:05Speaker 2: gonna be like, yeah, but how much is it gonna cost?
- 53:07Speaker 2: And what's the matter. They're gonna have all these naysayers,
- 53:10Speaker 2: and so if we have it locked and loaded ready
- 53:11Speaker 2: to be like, no, it's only gonna be a week
- 53:13Speaker 2: and it's gonna be this much money, then maybe they'll
- 53:14Speaker 2: go for it. Can you mention your penis so I
- 53:16Speaker 2: can hit the deb willies? But say something about your penis.
- 53:21Speaker 2: It's brown, for sake, Just stop talking about your willies.
- 53:25Speaker 2: There it is. All you had to say about your
- 53:28Speaker 2: penis was that it was brown.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Well, I'm challenges the new serious.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Donald Great, that's gonna be great for the new show.
- 53:39Speaker 1: This is not the I am as serious.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Because I mentioned that Carrel and de Niro, when they're not.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Shooting the greatest, are more reserved.
- 53:48Speaker 2: They are pretty. They are They are too the two
- 53:51Speaker 2: of the best living performers in drama and comedy.
- 53:55Speaker 1: So I'm saying it works. Maybe I need to try it.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Do you think your buddy Harrison Ford is gonna win
- 54:00Speaker 2: his first Emmy for shrinking?
- 54:02Speaker 4: Really?
- 54:03Speaker 2: Question, Joelle? What a results? I'll give you a drum
- 54:05Speaker 2: roll that would win.
- 54:11Speaker 4: But let me see what are the actual odds.
- 54:16Speaker 2: It's very competitive this year. There's got uh so many. Uh,
- 54:20Speaker 2: there's the Studio is very popular. What's the Ben Stiller
- 54:25Speaker 2: one that's very popular?
- 54:28Speaker 3: So good?
- 54:29Speaker 2: All right, Daniel, go ahead, all right?
- 54:31Speaker 1: Cool?
- 54:31Speaker 2: So you got Ike Baronholds for the Studio, very funny.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Coleman Coleman Domingo for the four seasons.
- 54:37Speaker 1: I know he has never seen it.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Harrison Ford for Shrinking, very good, Jeff Hiller for Somebody Somewhere,
- 54:45Speaker 2: never seen, Eben Moss Backrack for the Bear. He's very good,
- 54:49Speaker 2: very good.
- 54:49Speaker 1: I love him, never watched the show.
- 54:51Speaker 5: Michael Leury for Shrinking hilarious, and Bowen Yang for Saturday Life.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to say, and I'm not biased, it's
- 55:00Speaker 2: between Michael Yuri and Harrison Ford.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Wow, all put it really great work.
- 55:16Speaker 2: They're all great. That's that's quite a lineup. They're all
- 55:19Speaker 2: fucking incredible. Is the Barenholts is very very funny in
- 55:24Speaker 2: the studio?
- 55:25Speaker 1: Yes, don How many of these shows are coming back
- 55:27Speaker 1: next year? All of them?
- 55:30Speaker 2: I think the one with the Somewhere Somebody Somewhere is over.
- 55:33Speaker 2: No A, am I wrong?
- 55:35Speaker 1: I would say this go ahead if they're all coming back.
- 55:39Speaker 3: I would give Harrison for the I would give Harrison
- 55:41Speaker 3: for the award and let these guys go at it
- 55:44Speaker 3: again next year. Okay, Harrison Ford being nominated for things
- 55:49Speaker 3: is rare and few. Right on, He's been nominated for
- 55:54Speaker 3: a few Oscars, He's been nominated for a few Golden Globes.
- 55:59Speaker 1: This is his first.
- 56:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna give it to Harrison Ford.
- 56:08Speaker 1: No disrespect to all of the other actors. They're all great.
- 56:11Speaker 2: But Somebody Somewhere's third season was this year and the
- 56:16Speaker 2: series has concluded. I knew the writers have said that
- 56:19Speaker 2: they are potentially interested in revisiting the characters in a movie,
- 56:22Speaker 2: but it was only three seasons and that's out. I
- 56:24Speaker 2: can't just the seasons shows.
- 56:26Speaker 3: As long as health is on his side, I feel
- 56:28Speaker 3: like Comen Domingo will get another shot at an Emmy.
- 56:33Speaker 3: I don't know how many Harrison Ford is going to
- 56:37Speaker 3: get a shot at.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Okay, right, well, these factors the movie.
- 56:40Speaker 3: He's never been nominated, and he's get this is his one.
- 56:43Speaker 3: You know what I mean, this is the one you
- 56:44Speaker 3: gotta get, you gotta now.
- 56:47Speaker 2: He's also just like I mean again, I know him biased,
- 56:51Speaker 2: but he's just so good and fucking hilarious on the show.
- 56:55Speaker 2: It's been so fun watching him lean into comedy and
- 56:59Speaker 2: we do you see. That's another thing I directed in March,
- 57:03Speaker 2: I believe, was episodes three and four of the new season.
- 57:06Speaker 2: And it's so good, you guys, It's so fucking good.
- 57:10Speaker 2: And he's so incredible.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Hell yeah, He's always been incredible though, That's my point,
- 57:16Speaker 3: and that's why he has to win the Emmy.
- 57:18Speaker 1: All right.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Donald has spoken.
- 57:21Speaker 3: That's like if Denzel Washington were to do a television
- 57:23Speaker 3: show and getting and getting nominated for the Emmy, and
- 57:27Speaker 3: you'd be like, we're going to give it to.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Well, you can't go you can't just go, oh, you're
- 57:33Speaker 2: the most famous, most popular. I mean, ideally you take
- 57:36Speaker 2: other things into account. But I do think that Harrison.
- 57:39Speaker 2: I think Harrison Ford's work speaks to greatness.
- 57:44Speaker 1: That's what I'm trying to say right now.
- 57:47Speaker 2: He is so enjoying this chapter of his career where
- 57:50Speaker 2: he is getting to be funny and and I think
- 57:55Speaker 2: it shows. I think it shows on screen.
- 57:57Speaker 1: And that's why they should celebrate him.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and all those people are so talented. That's a
- 58:02Speaker 2: very tough category.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it is very tough, and I.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Think I think that Yeah, I think adolescence is going
- 58:11Speaker 2: to win all the things that's nominated for. For those
- 58:14Speaker 2: of you who watched that show. All right, as we
- 58:20Speaker 2: begin to conclude, Joelle, do you have any parting thoughts?
- 58:22Speaker 2: Are you going to miss us? Are you what are
- 58:25Speaker 2: you going to miss most about our weekly chats?
- 58:28Speaker 4: Oh? Yesh, I already miss you.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Guys.
- 58:30Speaker 4: You were like a weekly stay and then suddenly we
- 58:32Speaker 4: were we were just dark. It's a strange u transitional period.
- 58:38Speaker 4: This was the first show I ever eat peed, So.
- 58:41Speaker 2: You did a fantastic job.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 58:44Speaker 2: I really appreciate Donald. Well done, Joelle. In all seriousness,
- 58:49Speaker 2: before you continue, I just want to take this moment
- 58:52Speaker 2: on behalf of Donald and I to say we never
- 58:54Speaker 2: ever could have done this without you. You are such
- 58:57Speaker 2: an important part of the show. You are so interesting
- 59:01Speaker 2: and talented and funny, and we instantly wanted you to
- 59:06Speaker 2: be a part of the show because we just were like,
- 59:09Speaker 2: this woman is far too charming and interesting to have
- 59:12Speaker 2: her just sit there. And from the bottom of our hearts,
- 59:17Speaker 2: thank you so much for what you created.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Thank you man, Thank you guys.
- 59:23Speaker 4: I appreciate coming along for the ride. I had a
- 59:26Speaker 4: great time. And to our fans and listeners over the year,
- 59:29Speaker 4: like I really encourage you to go back and listen
- 59:31Speaker 4: to like some of those early interviews Richard Kind. I
- 59:35Speaker 4: listen to the Richard Kind interview every so often if
- 59:38Speaker 4: I need to pick up hilarious the Scott Fully interview
- 59:41Speaker 4: also sensational, so silly, like I really, you know, I
- 59:46Speaker 4: think if the show did anything really cool, it was
- 59:50Speaker 4: like getting a chance to sort of live in these
- 59:52Speaker 4: old memories with these really great actors who have these
- 59:56Speaker 4: long spans, like if you're a TV watcher like I am,
- 59:59Speaker 4: like all these names that you pop up all the time,
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: So get to spend some time like intimately with you
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: guys and those performers and learning all these backstories, like
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: it was a dream. So I hope people continue to listen.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: And you know, if you guys want to want to
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: recap your your new show, call us. I'm here. I'll
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: just be iHeart.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Well again, we we never know what what what will come,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: you know, I don't know if it's recap or we
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: get inspired or do something else. But I do think
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: it's good that we we end on a high note
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: and uh, and and and while we still love it
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: as opposed to getting to a point where it feels like,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: you know, it's not as fun anymore. Daniel, Yeah, what
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: are your what are your parting thoughts?
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Are great? Editor?
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: Oh, I mean, this has just been such a blast.
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: It was an awesome opportunity to get to know the
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: two of you better and to be you know, welcomed
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: into your world a little bit. It has reignited my
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: love for Scrubs and just as a I don't know,
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: I mean like it's been it's been such an interesting
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: journey and all the things that have come with it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: I mean, you know, as a as a huge fan
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: of competition television. The fact that the four of us
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: plus Bill got to go on Family Feud and win
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: it was like a life, lifelong dream achieved. So like,
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: you know, for nothing else, for nothing else, we got
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: to go on Family Feud, Yes, nobody And and Dane,
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: you were the one that got the Steve Harvey look away,
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: shocked face.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: I was trying so hard for it.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I got it too, though.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Actually did you did an alligator? Yeah? An all time,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: an all time moment.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: But let's let's let's talk about this, right, now alligators.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: We've seen the memes. Now, I made alligators.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Faith look, I made allus.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: I made you alligators.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: No one was paying any attention to the to the
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: pictures of alligators climbing fences until Donald spoke up. That's true.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Until you know what. We want to thank you to
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: your incredible man. Not only you know we did. We
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: just thought you were the engineer and the mixer, and
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: then you've been such You've been so incredible on the
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: show and so interesting and people love hearing you share
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: and uh again, we never thought that you'd be such
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: a major part of the show. But thanks to Thank
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: you so much for all that you contributed. You're just
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna miss you, guys. I'm gonna miss seeing you.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Every single day, I find myself in the shower going,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: oh my god, that's I'm washing my under arms, being like, oh,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: that'd be a funny story to tell on the podcast.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: It's like ingrained. It's ingrained in my blood, saving saving
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: funny stories to talk about with you each week.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Hey, Daniel, will you do me a favor real quick?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Drop one of them verses.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: From you?
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Great, popped in right here. The best one. JD.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Was like, cannot freaky freak with Molly to Elliott, who
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: was hard pressed but probably when I think of it,
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: knew he had no chance in hell. So she sends
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: him on the quest feel me watch he fails. This
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: episode was directed by Ze Fissile after Gardens they came out,
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: so he was starting to sizzle and Dollar Bill was like,
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I don't want the boy the fissicle. I'll let him
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: direct Pete dust in their rehizzle backlock crazy shots.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Improvides what you got treat by a Kyo boom. That's
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: kind of hot top Hiyatta chuck a lot. So's your
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: face Doctor Cox, Molly Shannon, Molly Clock zipp Ron because
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: she's hot.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: All well received by the populist because like Prime zb
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: was an optimist, I'll rocket like elaj you want serving
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: MC's like her restaurant, you'd get just called the face arms.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: That's the recap, but it wouldn't be complete without shotting.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Now DJ Daniel and Joe Monique.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Yeah, remember back in the day when Donald would.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: I and I don't know why you guys did that.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: That was so young, but making sure that I was
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: actually watching the show.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Fucks don't think I'm watching this ship. Donald. There was
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: a fun.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Was a segment they were really good. That was a
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: really good segment.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: That ship was pressure.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: Do you think you're going to read the news scripts?
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: It's funny because I saw I saw an early draft
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: of the pilot which is so fucking good, and Donald
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: has a huge monologue and I.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Was like what I was like.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I was like, Donald, we're like, we're like eight weeks six,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: eight weeks out. I was like, you might want to
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: take an early gander and then Bill build it all,
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: build it a whole big pass of the thing. And
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: I was like, let me quickly just flip and see
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: if Donald's monologue is still there. And I was like, roll, So.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: So you got to read the scripts.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: My point in doing this podcast go ahead. I realized how.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I wasn't present, regardless of how I feel about the
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: work and how it came out and stuff like that.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: The first run of Scrubs, for the most part, I
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: wasn't really present. I was very I don't think a lot.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: I think we were very young. I think we were
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: very I was very immature, and I had and I
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: smoked a lot of weed. I still do but I
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: smoked quite a bit, uh and still was trying to
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: work and do it. And so because of that, I
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: missed out on a lot like learning my lines or
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: reading scripts or you know, I was having fun at
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: a club.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I intend to lock in on this, you know what
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: This past for five years, these past five years have
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: been really eye opening on what can change in your
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: life when you focus a little bit different when you
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: focus in just a little bit more.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: And so I intend to lock in on this. I am.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: I'm very excited. This is a chance to in a
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: lot of ways, stretch my abilities as an actor and
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: learn more as an actor. I have nine episodes too
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: with and with my best friend too. I have nine
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: episodes with my best friend to try and tell a story,
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: and I intend on doing that and I'm really excited
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: That's awesome and I and I'm glad to hear that.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: And yeah, we are so lucky to have this opportunity,
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: and I think we should fucking bring it. Yeah, you
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: know this is and to the audience, you know, we're
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: going to do that. We're still figuring out what the
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: show is and obviously it's going to have the same
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: tone and silliness. You love. But please, I imagine if
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: you're listening to this, you're probably going to be curious
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: to check it out. Please, uh please check it out
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: coming soon to ABC, A network show. My god, wow,
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: it's a network show though a lot of you've got
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: you got ABC? Yeah, all you need is rabbit ears. True,
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: people listening probably don't even know what rabbit ears are.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: We're too old. It even took me a second to
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: be like, what the rabbit ears was? With the nickname
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: for just an antenna, you don't need so kids listening,
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: you could literally just put up an antenna and plug
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: it into a TV and you will get ABC. Back
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: in the day, still to this day, can you still
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: do that? Absolutely?
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: Oh really it ended like, okay, right, they don't look
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: like rabbit ears anymore, but you can you can get
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: you can get the networks from the air.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: No, that's awesome.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Well, I don't know what else to say. I love
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: you guys, you dog, I love you guys. This has
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: been so much fun. We've spent five years doing this.
