- 0:15SPEAKER_00: What is going on, big ballers?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: It's your boy, Manny James, and I'm coming at you with another fancy fumble episode.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're coming at you with some great content here today, and I have my boy here, Mr.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Birdman.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Birdman, tell him how the hell you're doing today, brother.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I'm doing very well, Manny.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: We're gonna be talking uh top 15 tight ends.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: We hit you with the running backs, the wide receivers, the quarterbacks, and now we're finishing with tight ends before we get into the regular season and start our regular episodes and our player profiles.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: But before we get into that, a quick word from our sponsor.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Hey there.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: My name is Manny James Gonzalez with PRB, and I'm a real estate agent here in Central Florida.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: I'm a U.S.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Navy veteran, military relocation pro, and big supporter of 2A and veterans' rights.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: My specialty is VA transactions, muscle experience in all parts of real estate.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I've been living in Florida for over 20 years, and I can tell you we still believe in freedom down here.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: One of the greatest job markets, excellent economy, and no state income tax.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: When it comes to an agent, you want one that's gonna be honest, not afraid of a fight, and most importantly, you're willing to do the things that some agents aren't willing to do.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And what's that, Manny?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Too straight, Dan.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: If you ever consider buying in Central Florida, you need somebody you can trust, and I got your sticks.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I'm Manny James Gonzalez.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Find land for the free and home for the brave.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Welcome back, ballers.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Let's roll right into the top 15 tight ends.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna kick things off with my boy, Sam Laporta.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: A rookie wide receiver with 10 touchdowns and almost 900 yards would be really impressive.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: And uh Laporta accomplished that as a tight end.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: So if you just look at his yardage and his targets, he had 120 targets, like I said, almost 900 yards, and he's on one of the best offenses in the NFL.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: He's a huge piece of that offense.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: He is going to be a top option for Jared Goff.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: He established the rapport early last season, and they're just gonna keep rolling, and he's young and hungry for more.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: And I see him finishing as the number one tight end this year.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I definitely can see that because I too have Sam Laporte as my number one.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: See, I know we talked before, and I know you said I'd be surprised as you're number one.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I'm not, because I also have him there.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, the guy was a stud last year.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you talk about tight ends, you don't talk about a tight end getting 86 receptions a rookie year, right?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: That's wide receiver numbers.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's the kind of numbers he got last year.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's only a handful of uh tight ends that get that 120 targets a year, you know, and that and that was him.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So I'm definitely bullish on him.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: You know, he's a number two or 1A, one B to Mon Ross and Brown, however you want to look at it in Detroit, and he's gonna continue to get that blot volume when he's healthy because that team is ready to put on another uh playoff run this year.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and as we said before, we are Detroit Lions fans here at Sports Minds, and we're just really really all about every player on that team.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Um now at the number two spot, this may surprise you a little bit.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I have Trey McBride.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: McBride was very impressive in his second year in the NFL after Zach Ertz went down.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: He had over 100 targets, over 800 receiving yards.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: He's another guy like Laporta that's young and hungry, and Kyler Murray, back at quarterback in Arizona, will only help him.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: He only had three touchdowns last year, but I expect that number to at least double this year when Kyler Murray's throwing the ball to him.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and actually, I'm not that surprised.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Trey McBride was a stud.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: He was a stud coming out of college too.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Uh he was highly touted.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: So um, I mean, the guy finally stepped into that.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: They finally gave him the the looks he should have near the end of the year last year, and he's uh he's really stepping into it going into his third year now.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Uh for my number two, however, I gotta give respect where it's due.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: And of course, Travis Kelsey.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: The only reason he was derailed is because Sam Laporta had that kind of season, but Travis Kelsey still had 121 targets last year, who was actually uh he was actually fourth most in the NFL, um uh as far as tight ends are concerned, excuse me.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And he he still ended up with 93 uh receptions and over 900 receiving yards.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: So he was pretty much uh the second leading receiving uh tight end in the league last year.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So I'll take that again.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Number one offense in the Chiefs.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Um he may be a step slower, but let me tell you, he's he's not gonna stop getting those uh those looks from Mahomes.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: So um expect another solid year from tight end to Travis Kelsey.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: No doubt, no doubt.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm rolling right into number three with Travis Kelsey.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: He's a legend, but he's 34.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's lost the drive.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: I know he loves to compete, and I don't think he's actually been distracted by Taylor Swift, like you hear some people talking about, or his celebrity status.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, the guy won the Super Bowl last year.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: I just think he's lost a step.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: And last year he only had uh he only scored five touchdowns and had the lowest yards per reception in his career.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, and this was the first time since 2015 that he had less than a thousand receiving yards.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: With all that said, it could have been more about Mahomes not finding his rhythm than Kelsey.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: I really don't know, but I'm just saying he took a step back last year.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: He will probably have a better year this season, but I don't think it's gonna be better than Sam Laporta or Trey McBride, which is why I have him at the three spot.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: That's fair enough.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Um actually for my number three, and we have ours uh two and three just kind of backwards here.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I have Mr.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Uh Trey McBride.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: I do think he's also gonna have a big year.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I have him higher.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We definitely are bullish, more bullish on him than probably most.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Um, but he is gonna be a favorite target for Kyler Murray, and Kyler Murray can have more than one, of course.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: So I think he's gonna continue to roll right into that momentum from last year, uh, be that safety valve, continue to get those looks, and just continue to be an athletic freak.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: So I expect that uh momentum to continue to uh go for Arizona, and uh he's gonna get a lot of goal line looks because he's gonna be their he's their red zone guy, so expect a lot of touchdown volume for him.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Now at number four, I've got Evan Ingram.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Ingram had 143 targets last year, by far the most out of any tight end, and by far his most successful fantasy output.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: He had 963 receiving yards, but only four touchdowns.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: A lot of that was due to Travis Etienne getting the goal line work, but I expect him to continue getting peppered by Trevor Lawrence, and I think there's going to be more end zone targets this year.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: He had a really good campaign last year, and I think he's gonna finish as the number four tight end this year.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: All right, and for my number four tight end, I have Mr.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Evan Ingram as well.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, we we're probably gonna be pretty close on this list.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Tight ends is pretty much uh almost like a guarantee.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: It's like it's hard.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: It's it's there's a couple tiers of guys that are like really good, and then the rest of them are just like average, you know, as far as fanny fancy producers, not taking away from pro tight ends whatsoever because their job is hard as hell, but just from a fancy standpoint, these guys are averaging between 10 to 15 points on the high side.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so um, but Evan Ingram last year was one of the most elite tight ends in the game.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, the guy was getting uh 15 points a game just about, and uh he had about 114 receptions.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Uh so that's actually he led the league in with tight ends, and he had 143 targets.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: So he was a top targeted tight end and the number one target for Mr.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Trevor Lawrence.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna see much of that again this year, and actually most of that volume came near the second half of the season.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: So if you expect to see that a little bit more this year, a little bit more consistency, and uh I expect him to replicate that at that momentum this year as well.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: So keep him in your lineups, keep him in the top, because he's definitely not gonna fall off anytime soon.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he's been pretty good in his previous years, but you're right, it it did really show in the second half of last year.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So I expect that momentum to continue.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Now at number five, I have Mark Andrews.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: A healthy Mark Andrews could easily sneak into the top three or even the number one spot.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Last season he had six touchdowns over just 10 games.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: He's the top receiving option for Lamar Jackson and an absolute beast on the field.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: We all know Mark Andrews and what he can do when he's healthy, and that's why he's at the number five spot for me.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually faded Mark Andrews a little bit more this year because the tight end that we couldn't think about the other day, um, but I was thinking about was Isaiah Likely, and that's why I faded Mark Andrews a little bit more.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Um, but I love him start, you know, start tight end, but uh, I think he's gonna fade a little bit more.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but my number five that I have this year is Mr.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Dalton Kincaid.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: I think he's gonna be uh Josh Allen's favorite target this year, especially in the red zone.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: They're gonna build a little bit more uh chemistry.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: He was a stud coming out of college, and he's gonna continue to uh build that chemistry.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: I know I've been saying that for the last few guys, right?
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Tight ends, chemistry, chemistry, chemistry.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: True though.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's all true.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: These guys, all these guys we've been talking about near the top are the literally the top options for their quarterbacks, you know, uh, and the top, the top safety valve.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So when you have a tight end that is elite and the top safety valve, I mean, it's hard to really match up with the guy who's six foot four, 250 pounds, right?
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: He's typically your most athletic, strongest, and best athlete on the field.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: So if if that's the guy that and that for that that guy on the Buffalo Bills is going to be Dalton Kincaid, and some will even debate Keon Coleman, but obviously that's a conversation for another day.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we we have to wait and see what happens there.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, but that rolls right into my number six, Dalton Kincaid.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: With the departure of Stephon Diggs and Gabe Davis, Kincaid could easily be and probably will be the top receiving option for Josh Allen.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: He's a young, healthy guy that's poised for a breakout.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: His biggest issue last year, similar to James Cook, was finding the end zone, but I do see that changing this year.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: I just feel like Josh Allen will continue to spread the ball.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: And with him being the top option, a beast like you were talking about, six foot four, two fifty, he's gonna get in the end zone more and we'll have a better year last year, and he's gonna have a better year this year.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: All right, and for my number six uh best tight end I have this year, I have Mr.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: George Kittle.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Speaking of Uber Athletic Freaks, he is a guy that loves to block, but man, did he have a year last year?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Um, he had over a thousand yards last year.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: He was actually the leading tight end uh for yardage, and and man, he didn't disappoint.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: He didn't have that many receptions.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I think he only had over 60 something receptions last year, uh 65 actually.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, but I mean for a thousand yards, that means he was catching some bombs.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: He was catching some 30, 40 yarders pretty consistently, and he did have six touchdowns, which was uh definitely above average for his position, and he did have uh uh only 90 targets, so he was pretty efficient on what he did get.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: So I expect that to be the same this year.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Um, because he is definitely he doesn't have to fight over targets with Debo and Iuke, he just has his role, so that role will continue.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe he'll take a step back, but for 65 targets uh for a season, that's actually not a lot.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: That's only like six targets a game.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: So uh that's not bad at all.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Five to six.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna talk about him a little bit more soon.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: But at the number seven spot, I have Jake Ferguson.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Similar story to some of the other guys on this list.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: He's young, he's hungry, he's on a high-powered offense.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: He had over 100 targets last year and showed great rapport with Dak.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: He finished the season with five touchdowns and will continue with a strong role in the Dallas offense.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: I don't see it changing too much, but I do see it improving just a little bit, just enough to push him as the number seven overall tight end.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can see that.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Uh for my number seven, actually, I do have Mr.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Mark Andrews.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: As I said, I faded him a little bit more this year.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: I've been the biggest Mark Andrews supporter for the last several years, and he has not disappointed.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but this year, I think with the emergence of Isaiah likely, you're gonna see a little bit less volume to him.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: And uh he has to shoulder, he has to carry it, shoulder the load a little bit less than he used to.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: That team's a lot better than it used to be.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Um now they have the emergence of Zay Flowers, and of course, uh he that means he's still gonna get his his targets, but I think he's now uh tied with Zay Flowers as the the top option, and he may even be the second option now.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Depends on what it's gonna look like with Lamar.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Um, but from what I noticed last year, Lamar got really used to throwing the bomb to Zay because Zay is an amazing receiver, and to me, the best ability or to anybody, any quarterback, the best ability is availability, and historically, Mark Andrews cannot stay healthy.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: That's a good solid point, and that does concern me as well.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: I love to see the success from Zay Flowers, but Mark Andrews' durability, it is a concern.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: Now, at number eight, I have a guy you were just talking about, George Kittle.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Kittle is an amazing athlete and an amazing NFL football player, but possibly the most inconsistent fantasy football player in history.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: With that said, his overall numbers were excellent last year.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: He had over a thousand receiving yards and six touchdowns.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Expect more of the same this season.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Just understand that it's gonna be a little bit of a roller coaster ride with the ups and downs.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: You have to accept that and embrace that as you draft him.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: You start him, you hope for the best, but you know there's gonna be a couple hiccups in there.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, but at the same time, as you were talking about, he makes big plays.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: He's gonna have those bombs, he's going to have those games with multiple touchdowns.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: And getting that out of a tight end, man, you can't ask for much.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: You'll take those duds because every tight end is going to give you at least one or two uh at a bare minimum throughout the season.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: So if Kittle gives you five or six, it's just it's just part of the game.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Embrace it and take those huge games as they come.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: I hear that.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: It is hit or miss.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Um, for my number eight, I actually have uh gentlemen that not many people are too high on yet, but he's a sleeper right now.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Um, you probably only have him a pick or two back.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: So you're you're most people are sniffing onto him.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: But Mr.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Brock Bowers rookie for Las Vegas Raiders.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: I think all the talent in the world, right?
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Super fast, super strong.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, he was a top draft pick for the Raiders uh this year, and he's gonna step into a team where they're still trying to develop their identity.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Um, and he's setting himself a role.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: And if you listen to any of the training camp uh talk, he does not play around.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: He's all about football, he sticks his nose to the grindstone, he works hard, and that guy is gonna be one of those super hardworking, uh hard nosed type of players.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: So those typically translate well as far as their skill set.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: And so I could see uh Brock Bowers being a nice late pick.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: He's typically available around your seventh round, uh, seventh to eighth round.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: So if you get him around there, he's gonna be uh a nice 10 to 12 pointer, I think, as far as uh tight end, and that's kind of the sweet spot for tight ends uh for that late.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you can get 10 to 12 out of a tight end, you're doing really well.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: That's that's what the top guys get.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I mean, as far as an average, the guys at the way top might have a little higher.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: But if you're getting 10 to 12 out of your tight end every week, you did well.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't actually have Brock on my list, but I agree with everything he said.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: I do love him.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: I watched a few of his interviews, he seems very focused, very serious, and I do love his name too.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: He's got a cool name.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: So I I I'm a little concerned about the Raiders as a whole, as I mentioned previously.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Um but Brock Bowers is stud, so we'll see.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: I hope I'm wrong because I want to see that guy do well.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Now at number nine, I have David Njoku.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Njoku had 123 targets and six touchdowns last year.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: It was the best fantasy output of his career, and he proved to be a serious threat in the red zone.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: If he continues to build rapport with Deshaun Watson, he could sneak into the top five.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: I'm that confident in his ability.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I'm just not confident in that team as a whole.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: So if the team catches a rhythm and, you know, basically Njoku proves that he can be that dynamic of a player because he is an athletic freak.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Like a lot of these tight ends are.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: He is another athletic freak.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: I would not be surprised to see him in the top five.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: But right now he's at the ninth spot.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's funny because I also have number uh David Njoku at the number nine.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: We're definitely agreeing a lot more on these tight ends, right?
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: So last year, obviously the guy had 81 receptions on 123 targets.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: So the guy was just getting peppered with targets, and I'd say about 100 of those targets were with Joe Flacco, right?
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So Deshaun Watson, I don't know what's going on with him last year, but wasn't hitting him.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: But when as soon as Flacco took over, man, uh Najoku scoring 20 to 30 points a game consistently, it seemed like.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: So we're only we're hoping that that same uh, you know, that same production does come in with Deshaun Watson.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: But if you watch last year, you know it wasn't showing then.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: So uh, but I still hope that it, you know, the talent is there.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: So my hope is to play calling will be there.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: So that's why I too agree he should be the ninth player just based upon talent alone.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: But obviously, when you're banned on the Browns, you better flush it down because you never know what's gonna happen there, brother.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Wow, one it's so true.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, that that's the thing, is like you know, it was towards the latter half of the season, and it was with Flacco, and and I love David Njoku as an athlete.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, he was one of my player profiles last year where I was very high on him.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: And I said it all depends on Deshaun Watson.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Then Deshaun Watson got injured, Flacco came in, took over.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: And if they do have that rapport, if Deshaun Watson and David Njoku have that rapport and they can move forward as a football team, he's gonna be an excellent player and a great guy to have on your fantasy football roster.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: But it's a huge question mark.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna take a risk.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: If it pays off, great.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: If not, it's tight end.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Who cares?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, the rest of your team is good.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Now at number 10, I have Dolph.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: The last four seasons have been very similar for Dalton Schultz.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: I expect a similar output for him this year, which is actually pretty good.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: But if he builds more trust with CJ Stroud, those numbers could go much higher.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: And if they stay the same, five to six, five to six targets and ten fantasy points a game, that's not bad at all.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: Like we were just talking about for a tight end, that's good.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: But I see those numbers getting higher because CJ Stroud, he's comfortable in the NFL now.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: He's past his rookie jitters, and that is a high-powered offense.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: If he's a safety valve or just a somewhat consistent option, so those go from five to six targets to six to eight targets, and he finds the red zone a few more times, that guy's easily in the top 10.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: And I have a lot of confidence in him this year.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: That's why he's rounding out the top 10 for me at the 10 spot.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: And for my number 10, you're gonna be surprised here.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, but with uh no historical data whatsoever supporting this claim and just pure uh predic projections here.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna predict Mr.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Kyle Pitts coming at tight end number 10 this year, ladies and gentlemen.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: I have Captain Kirk coming in with his uh Toronto Achilles coming in, and uh he loves his tight ends, right?
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Who doesn't love a good tight end?
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: Uh and he's gonna go ahead and uh pepper him with targets just like he did at TJ Hawkinson, just like he did to every other tight end before him.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Uh back in the Redskins days, it was uh CJ Cooley or something like that.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: TJ Cooley.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Uh one of those, because I remember that.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Kirkhouse has a very good history with tight ends.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I think that Kyle Pitts could this could finally be a solid year for him.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Do I think it's gonna be more than 10 consistent points a game?
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: And just like every other tight end, I think it's gonna be hit or miss.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: So you play the matchups, and just like any other tight end, you play the matchups and you have two or three good ones.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Um, because at the end of the day, you never know who it's gonna be.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: And if it's not one of the top five guys, chances are you're probably gonna be playing the matchups for the rest of the season.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: That is the truth, and I've done it too many times, but I like what you said, and uh, we're gonna have to wait and see.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: I'll talk about him a little bit later towards the end.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, at number 11 for me, I have Cole Komet.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: You know, I like Cole Komet.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: I've been very high on him the last two years.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: If you look at his last two seasons, he actually has 13 touchdowns over those two years.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: He's had a few amazing performances and a cluster of total duds along the way, but he is a red zone threat.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: If Caleb Williams looks to commit as a safety valve and a red zone target, he could easily be one of the best tight ends in fantasy.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: I have seen that guy at his best, and I'm telling you, he is a stud.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: It's just that he hasn't been consistent enough to trust him.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Like many tight ends, you can't trust them to be consistent football players or fantasy football players.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: But I really think if Caleb Williams can find a groove with him and that offense can start to flow, that Cole Komet is going to be an absolute beast.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, definitely like Comet.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Um, it is a crap shoot sometimes, hit or miss.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Um, for my number 11, however, I have a guy you had a little bit higher, but I do believe in him.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Uh the um Mr.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: Jake Ferguson, uh, Dallas Cowboys.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: So last year, obviously he had 70 receptions here, which is pretty good.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Um, he ended up having over 760 yards and 102 targets.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: So the guy was solid.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, and he really turned it on.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Like he he balled all over my Eagles.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I remember watching him.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: We couldn't stop him because we had no linebackers, and we just get kept getting cooked in the middle, like just catch after catch after catch.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: And that's why I really first started keeping track of that guy was after that game, and uh really he has just been so consistent ever since.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Um, so I expect that to be a little bit more often.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: Dak remembers his days with Jason Witten, so now he has another Jason Wenton-like player because he plays the same way.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: He's a big tight end blocks, he he catches, he puts his shoulders down.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: So um I expect him to have another solid season, and uh he might actually be one of the more consistent late around tight ends uh than what you're getting from what some of the other guys I mentioned, but uh he is a later round guy, you're definitely gonna get him somewhere around the ninth or tenth round.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, you could easily get him late.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: With most of these tight ends, you can.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Now at number 12, I have Dallas Goddard.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Honestly, the only reason I really have him in my top 15 is because he's on the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: I've never really bought into the hype, and there's been a lot of hype around him.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Every year I feel like I'm hearing the same thing, kind of similar to Kyle Pitts, but he hasn't proven to be anything substantial.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Much alright, I shouldn't compare him to Kyle Pitts.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: He's been much better than Kyle Pitts, but I'm I'm comparing the hype to Kyle Pitts.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Um, but the thing is with Goddard, he can make big plays and he will bring you probably 10 to 12 fantasy points a game, which is great.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: But he's injury prone and has a hard time finding the end zone.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: So the fact that you don't know if you're gonna get a full season out of him and you can't really count on more than three touchdowns a season, that's why he is not falling into the top 10.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: I need to see more consistency before I can rank him in the top 10.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: And right now he's at the 12th spot.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, I definitely see that.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Uh for my number 12, I have Mr.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: TJ Hawkinson.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: He's coming off a pretty significant injury.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think it was an ACL tear.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: If I'm correct.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: Um, so he's gonna be he did tear it around week 15.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: So he played 15 games, but man, he had over 960 yards already, and he was averaging 14 points a game before he tore it.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: So he was actually on track to be the highest scoring tight end in the league, and he was the highest scoring tight end in the league for the last few weeks before he did tear it, and it was unfortunately a dirty hit by a Lions player that did tear his ACL.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: So um I expect him to come back.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, he's right now, he's not on the PUP list.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe he'll start off, but that would be four games uh maximum.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: But he's the type of guy that you can take as a solid uh 10 or 12 point guy, even if he doesn't come back the same, and he's gonna be a guy that you're gonna get super late.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: You could get him in like the 12th round, so definitely a nice little bench stash for you there.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, and I don't have him in my top 15.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: And the only reason you know I love TJ Hawkinson, I drafted him on like three or four teams last year.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I love a guy, I've I've been drafting him for years, he's an amazing tight end.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: That was one of Kirk Cousins' favorite tight ends.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: And the thing is, the injury is the only thing that's preventing him from staying out of my top 15.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: If that guy was healthy, he'd be in my top five.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: Easy, no question about it, probably top three.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: But the thing is, I think he's gonna be out for four to six weeks.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: I think even if they bring him back in week five, it's gonna be on a limited snap count, or they're gonna kind of like ease him back into a full workload, and that we won't see him back to his full ability until like seven or eight, like week seven or eight.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: That's just my current prediction.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: I do hope I'm wrong, but right now I just can't trust him enough to put him in my top 15.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: But I love TJ Hawkinson.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Excellent, excellent bench stash for sure.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: He could be a league winner if you got him on your bench.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: Now, at number 13 for me, this might be something that's just a little close to my heart, but I have been following the guy for years.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Another guy with huge potential that has been on a lackluster offense with a slew of problems.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: That's Pat Fryermuth.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: If the Steelers can find a rhythm on offense, the Muth will be heavily involved.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: If they can't, he won't.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: That's really all it comes down to.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: So if they can find their rhythm, if they can actually be a respectable football team, I see Fryermuth staying in the top 15, possibly even getting into the top 10.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: He is a really good football player, he's a great pass catcher.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: It's just that the Steelers suck.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: And they need to they need to improve for him to be a reliable tight end on your fantasy team.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I definitely hear that.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: And he just barely didn't make my top 15.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: So uh I totally get your point, Sarah, for sure.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: It's all dependent upon Russell Wilson if if Moof is gonna have a good good year or not.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Or Fields, we'll see who it is.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Well, it's definitely not Fields because he looks like trash in the preseason.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: Um, for it's so fucking hard to watch.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Oh man, if you guys don't remember, I'm a Steelers fan.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: It's it's just so fucking I can't talk about my Steelers the same way Manny can talk about his Eagles.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: I st I mean I still love them, a diehard fan.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: I get a new jersey every year, got my son all the gear, but my goodness.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: It's frustrating.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Can't believe you buy a new jersey every year, that's a waste of money.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, feels like um I just buy team shirts.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Them things never go out of style.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I buy those too.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm loaded, you know, the whole closet full of stealers.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: Now for my number 13, lucky number 13.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: I have Mr.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Dalton Schultz.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Reason why I like him, 13 is a lucky number, and he's definitely available around round number 13.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: So he's someone you could pick up, solid tight end, uh, gonna give you some good good numbers.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: But I think it's gonna be much uh a little bit of a spread offense over there as far as uh who's gonna eat that day.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: So you might have it, it might be uh two guys, it might be Tank Dell and Diggs that day, or it might be Schultz and you know, and uh Nico Collins, or it might be uh Joe Mixon day.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: So uh for me, I think that Schultz will have some impact, but it won't be consistent.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: He's gonna be fourth on a peck in order, and for me, that's enough to fade him just barely outside of my top 15.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: So, or just barely in my top 15 at number um, I got him at number 13 now.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, those are all good points, and I did think about that, even though I had him uh slightly inside my top 10 at the 10 spot.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Uh I thought about what you're saying.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's such a good offense to the point that it comes a little bit saturated, and yeah, he's probably four on the peck and order, but we'll see.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, it could it could help him, but you're right, it'll probably get passed around a little too much.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: I I think he's gonna have a great year, at least consistent enough to get you 10 to 12 points.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Now, at number 14, you knew I had to include my boy Taysom Hill.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: My favorite sneaky tight end quarterback running back in the NFL.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: He only had two receiving touchdowns last year, but he had four rushing touchdowns, and he also had one passing touchdown.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: I thought Jamal Williams would take more end zone carries away, uh, but that wasn't the case.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: If Kamara gets injured again, and let's hope Kamara stays healthy because everyone wants to see uh Kamara play every game this year and just be the absolute stud he can be.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: But if Kamara gets injured, which is possible, expect the Saints to utilize Taysom Hill even more in the run game.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: That's why I have him inside my top 15.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: He's just a versatile player, and we know that he can get those goal line carries and have have certain games where he possibly gets you multiple touchdowns.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: He did it a couple times last year, and he is that guy that everyone just loves to watch, and he's he's just a unique, fun player.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: He's a he's worth a bench stash if you have a spot and you don't know who to draft.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: You know, I I definitely don't have him uh in my top 15, but I was getting ready to hate on him, and I went to look at his stats, and uh Taysom Hill actually had uh 401 rushing yards and 291 receiving.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: So he actually had about 692 yards, all purpose yards last year.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: So that's equivalent to a solid tight end year.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: So I can't hate on him, and he did have six six total touchdowns.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: Seven.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: So he got the passing touchdown.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, he had a passing one too.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Seven total touchdowns.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: No, but you're right, it counts, it counts.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: So seven total touchdowns, he had a great year for a tight end.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: So uh one would think that he wasn't doing that great, but actually, now that you mentioned that there, Taysom Hill was averaging um nine points a game, which is uh actually only 0.4 off of Dalton Kincaid last year.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: So definitely worth worth a bench sash, 100%.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: All right, for my number 14, I have Mr.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: Cole Komet, Chicago Bears.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: It's a consistency thing.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: The offense did get saturated in the offseason right.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: They added Keenan Allen, uh, they already had DJ Moore.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and then obviously Caleb Williams has some good chemistry with those guys.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna see a lot more of that uh ball spread around, and I think he's definitely third in the pecking order.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: So, and I think they're they're he might even be fourth if you count the DeAndre Swift, right?
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Because they're gonna be dumping the ball off to a running back a lot more as well.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: So uh as far as I'm concerned, I I do see Cole Komet having some solid games, but you're gonna be playing the matchups, like if they're gonna shut down the running game or shut down you know the receivers, then uh they're gonna probably look more towards the tight ends, right?
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: So uh that's where Cole Komet will sneak out there.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: So good bench stash.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: He's a guy that's available late around the 12 for 13th round as well, someone that you would want to pick up and definitely uh enough to stay in my top 15 coming in at number 14.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: You made a really good point, and I think it could go either way, like with the offense uh spreading the ball out and just being uh a better offense than last year because really all we had last year is DJ Moore.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: That's the only reliable option that you had.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Now that didn't work out too well for DJ Moore at the beginning, but towards the end of the season, he completely exploded once he was able to remain open and get all those targets.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: I think it will help DJ Moore and it will help Keenan Allen to have a better offense overall.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: But what you said is true, it might take away from the tight end position a little bit.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: I could also see it working the other way where it's if it's just all working, it's all working, and those targets come to Cole Komet.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: And I do love him this year, so we'll see.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: At the number 15 spot, I got Kyle Pitts.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, the only reason he's in my top 15 is because of Kirk Cousins.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: You know, I love Kirk Cousins, he loves his tight ends, and this could finally be the year that Pitts showcases his amazing talent to the world.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: He does have amazing talent, no one's doubting that.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: But we're waiting for that breakout.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: There's so much hype around him every year.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: I want to believe in Kyle Pitts, but I don't.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's gonna be anything special.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: If he does rank in the top 15, that's awesome.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I see him right around the 15 spot.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: I just I don't see Kirk Cousins being as substantial to the team as he is to someone like Drake London, but maybe I'm wrong, and maybe Kyle Pitts is going to be a substantial part of that offense.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I do have him in at number 10, so I'm a little bit more bullish on him because of the that history of Kirk Cousins with the tight ends.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Uh, but at the end of the day, I do um I do see why you would be a little bit hesitant on his history, especially uh considering that Kirk Cousins did get injured.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: So um, but if anybody's a doubter of of Kyle Pitts, uh I I would have been the biggest naysayer of that guy.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: So for me to have him that high, you I can tell you that it's definitely some some pretty high expectations of him.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I hope you're right, man.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: I I do because if that whole team's working together, it's gonna help with Bijan, it's gonna help with Drake London and Kirk Cousins.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: And you know, I like all those guys, and I do want Kyle Pitts to have a good year.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: Now, who you got to round out your 15?
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Well, for the final pick, Mr.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Number 15.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: I have none other than I gotta do it, man.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: I gotta do it.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: I gotta bring Mr.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Uh Mr.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Glass Dallas Goddard from Philadelphia Eagles.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Everybody knows when he's healthy, he's he's solid, but man, does he get hurt, brother?
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: He's made out of butter, and and that guy gets man, he has heart, but he just can't stay healthy.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: And I totally get it.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: Just play smart, man.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Don't be one of those tight ends, just take Zach Ertz's example and don't try to lower your shoulder, just get out of bounds.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: That's what Zach Ertz used to do.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: He used to drop down or he'd get out of bounds.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about them trying to clown you.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: You're not a tough guy, you're you're a pretty boy.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: Just take it what it is.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: Pretty boy with a receding hairline.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: You know, if anybody knows what that looks like, you know, it's me.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: I was there, I was there before, you know, there now, right?
- 40:43SPEAKER_00: So, and uh, but at the end of the day, Dallas Goddard last year.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're I'm over here talking about like all this nonsense about him, but uh he had 592 yards last year, three touchdowns, and 59 receptions.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, the problem with that is he he definitely only played 14 games, so he missed three games, which is not a lot of games to miss.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: But um he wasn't healthy, yeah.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: Even the games where he was playing, he wasn't 100%.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he wasn't.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: He had at least a few games where he was coming out of the games and yeah, and he'll miss the game and he'll keep coming out.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: So um I I got him as a top 15 just because he's a nice bench stash, but he better not be your top tight end because if it is, you're in trouble, bud.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: Just telling you now.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: All right, big ballers.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: I hope you enjoyed that episode because I know I did.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: I love a good tight end, pun intended.
