- 2:15Speaker 4: How you doing, man, I'm great. I can finally say
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm glad to be a part of the team.
- 2:21Speaker 2: You are one of us. For what I mean it is.
- 2:23Speaker 4: You've known for a while. We've been working on this
- 2:28Speaker 4: weeks and weeks and weeks. Yeah, yeah, it's almost two months.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Almost two months, but we got you here. So Brian Hughes,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know you've seen him on television for years and
- 2:38Speaker 2: he is now part of us. And what better timing,
- 2:42Speaker 2: as David Letterman would say, Brian, as timely as today's
- 2:45Speaker 2: headlines with this major winner event coming in. We're gonna
- 2:48Speaker 2: talk about that a little bit later on, but we're
- 2:49Speaker 2: not gonna spend the whole show talking about that, as
- 2:51Speaker 2: I said, We're going to talk about Carnivalg'm talking about
- 2:53Speaker 2: the Hunting Fish and show, and we're gonna try to
- 2:55Speaker 2: get a cat adopted this week with our adopt Me
- 2:57Speaker 2: please put it the week here? Can we want to
- 2:59Speaker 2: get to the weather, yea. And we'll get a little
- 3:01Speaker 2: background on you as well for people who I mean,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you've been here? How long were you in the television?
- 3:06Speaker 2: So I was on air fourteen years to the day,
- 3:09Speaker 2: worked at WWWK fourteen years of the day.
- 3:12Speaker 4: But I've been been on radio for thirty for thirty
- 3:18Speaker 4: two years. Yeah, all right, so now you're starting radio
- 3:21Speaker 4: thirty two years again?
- 3:22Speaker 2: All right? And now and now you're here, by the way,
- 3:24Speaker 2: nice shirt. Brian comes in rocket A Metro Ryan. Did
- 3:28Speaker 2: you see this? TJ? Did you see this guy's shirt?
- 3:32Speaker 2: I guess Metro News shirt he's got. I don't have
- 3:34Speaker 2: one of those. I've been here for six years. I mean,
- 3:37Speaker 2: what what the heck? Man?
- 3:38Speaker 4: Well, I mean it, you know, I know how to
- 3:41Speaker 4: work the system little bit already he started. He started.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Let's bring in Angie gilden Water from the Canal Charlestony
- 3:48Speaker 2: Main Association with this week's adopt me please better the week. Angie,
- 3:51Speaker 2: Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Good morning, and congrat you guys for getting somebody new
- 3:56Speaker 5: to hang out and talk with you.
- 3:58Speaker 4: I'm excited to be here and I love this little
- 4:00Speaker 4: kiddy cat. By the way, Brian, do you know Angie?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Do you guys know each other? We, I mean, we've
- 4:05Speaker 4: run into each other a number of times. Okay, And
- 4:09Speaker 4: here's and here's the deal. My dog adopted, yeah problem.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Arguably next to baby Dog, the most famous dog in
- 4:16Speaker 2: West Virginia. That is correct, that's great and that and
- 4:20Speaker 2: Boson is a was a shelter dog. Yeah, absolute as
- 4:23Speaker 2: she is. And so she is.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Now let's see here she went to there for five
- 4:27Speaker 4: six and she almost eight eight years old.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Now, okay, and our good friend Logan Scott from a
- 4:31Speaker 2: sister station V one hundred just called Jupiter a couple
- 4:35Speaker 2: of weeks from the Kenal troletew Manassusian beautiful dog Angie.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, I'm saying, follow in their footsteps, adopt, adopted off.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well, I don't have to do that because my cats
- 4:44Speaker 2: just find us. They just show up at our house
- 4:46Speaker 2: and go Like the last they just show go, hey,
- 4:48Speaker 2: I'm here, what are we eating? That's uh, pretty much
- 4:51Speaker 2: like Steve Animal does at my house to be here.
- 4:54Speaker 2: They just don't ask for beer. That's about the only reason.
- 4:57Speaker 2: That's about the only difference. All right, So let's go
- 5:00Speaker 2: to our dopmy please sput of the week and as
- 5:01Speaker 2: always we have the picture posted over on Dave Allen
- 5:04Speaker 2: Radio on Facebook, also the WCHS Network Facebook page as
- 5:07Speaker 2: well at Dave A seventy on X. It is a
- 5:10Speaker 2: cat this week, a cat known as Harvey. Tell us
- 5:14Speaker 2: Harvey's story.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Ngh, So I figured we do a cat this week.
- 5:19Speaker 5: We have it in a very long time. So Harvey
- 5:22Speaker 5: actually came to case Eha as astray. He's about three
- 5:25Speaker 5: years old. We newted him, we got him vaccinated, and
- 5:28Speaker 5: now he is living life at the pet Co pit
- 5:30Speaker 5: houses in Southbridge.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I love that name, by the way. Yeah, the pet
- 5:35Speaker 4: Go penthouses.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Yes, indeed that's what they are, all right, but he yeah, go.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Ahead, No, it's just going to ask you, do we
- 5:43Speaker 2: know what Harvey's story? I mean, Harvey com in is astray?
- 5:46Speaker 6: Or do we know?
- 5:47Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 5:48Speaker 5: Just astray? And somebody had found him wandering around their neighborhood,
- 5:51Speaker 5: and you know, we were like, all right, bring him
- 5:53Speaker 5: on in we can. We can fix that and fix him.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You did, because he's already.
- 5:58Speaker 4: New there, all right.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm more ways than one.
- 6:00Speaker 2: More ways than one, and beautiful, beautiful cat and again.
- 6:04Speaker 2: His pictures posted over on my social media, so so
- 6:06Speaker 2: go check it out. So I'm I mean, this is
- 6:10Speaker 2: a you tell me, a very very sweet cat that
- 6:12Speaker 2: loves people too.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Write.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Yes, I actually got to go see Harvey yesterday when
- 6:17Speaker 5: I took more cats to the pet Copit House. I'm
- 6:20Speaker 5: their uber there, but uh yeah, I got to see
- 6:24Speaker 5: him and he was just sticking his little tiny paws
- 6:27Speaker 5: through the holes in their kennels. I opened up his
- 6:30Speaker 5: cane and he immediately just like climbed on top of me,
- 6:33Speaker 5: was purring, wanting attention. So he's very sweet and very
- 6:36Speaker 5: loving if you're looking for, you know, like a personal
- 6:38Speaker 5: space heater.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And you know, people talk about cats all the time.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And again if people say I'm a cat person, I
- 6:43Speaker 2: like dogs too. It's just you know, cats are a
- 6:46Speaker 2: lot simpler. Uh But people I think have a misconception
- 6:49Speaker 2: about cats that there I had a buddy my one time,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I said, God, why would you want a cat? They're
- 6:52Speaker 2: so stand offish and so on and so forth. They're
- 6:54Speaker 2: just like humans and like some dogs, I mean, they
- 6:58Speaker 2: all have different personalities. Our two cats love people, even
- 7:01Speaker 2: though they rarely ever see people because I don't like
- 7:03Speaker 2: people coming to my house. But our cats absolutely when
- 7:07Speaker 2: people come in, they love people. My one cat is
- 7:11Speaker 2: like my cat. He follows me everywhere in the house.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You know, he lays beside me on the couch. I mean,
- 7:16Speaker 2: you know, not all cats are that the are that
- 7:20Speaker 2: stereotype about cats? I guess, Angie exactly.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I always tell people that don't like cats, you just
- 7:25Speaker 5: haven't met the right cat yet, because when you meet
- 7:28Speaker 5: the right cat, it will turn you into a cat person.
- 7:31Speaker 4: You know what what's beautiful about this cat I mean
- 7:34Speaker 4: is it's white along with this cream color that he's
- 7:37Speaker 4: got up around the face and those dark eyes. I mean,
- 7:41Speaker 4: just a gorgeous little gorgeous giddy.
- 7:44Speaker 5: Yeah, he is the long hair too. I just I'm
- 7:48Speaker 5: a big fan of like a really fluffy looking cat.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Well, listen, if you like fluffy snow, you probably like
- 7:53Speaker 4: a fluffy cat. And this is the one to adopt.
- 7:55Speaker 4: And listen. The PETCOA Penthouses we absolutely love Pecko. Pet
- 7:59Speaker 4: COO Love is the foundation they help. They donate back
- 8:04Speaker 4: to the Connan Charleston Humane Association and many other groups
- 8:07Speaker 4: all across the country. And I know, you know Chelsea,
- 8:10Speaker 4: you know she is now the president she is now
- 8:14Speaker 4: running pet COO of across the country, So we're very
- 8:17Speaker 4: excited about that. A West Virginia native from up there
- 8:19Speaker 4: in Clinton, and she's doing that. Their donations to the
- 8:22Speaker 4: shelter have been immense over the years, yes they have.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Every time that you adopt from pet co, you're helping
- 8:30Speaker 5: not only the animal, but you're also helping pet COO
- 8:33Speaker 5: give back to not only your local shelter, but you're
- 8:35Speaker 5: helping them give back to the shelters across the nation.
- 8:38Speaker 5: So please consider adopting if you're looking to adopt from
- 8:42Speaker 5: one of our pet Co locations, because again, it helps
- 8:46Speaker 5: in numbers and DROs.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Indeed, I want to talk about the weather, not talking
- 8:51Speaker 2: about the snow and ice, but I want to talk
- 8:52Speaker 2: about the cold. Right now, the cold is getting ready
- 8:55Speaker 2: to stick and even after we get through the snow event,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and Brian's going to talk about it later on the show,
- 8:59Speaker 2: but once we get through the snow event, the snow
- 9:01Speaker 2: is going to stay on the ground until like I
- 9:04Speaker 2: don't know, August or something like that, because it's not
- 9:07Speaker 2: going anywhere for a long long time, and the temperatures
- 9:09Speaker 2: are going to be some of the lowest we've had
- 9:10Speaker 2: in a long time. We're not talking about windshields. We're
- 9:12Speaker 2: talking about actual temperatures below zero or early next week.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Bring your pets in when you can. And there are
- 9:18Speaker 2: always those that say, you know, my animal loves it outside.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm not going to get into that argument, and you
- 9:23Speaker 2: know you do you, But what can people do for
- 9:26Speaker 2: for some of the neighborhood strays that are out there?
- 9:30Speaker 5: So for neighborhood strays, if you have a building or
- 9:33Speaker 5: a garage or anything like that, can that you can
- 9:35Speaker 5: store them in at least until you know the temperatures
- 9:38Speaker 5: raised a little bit out of single digits, that is
- 9:41Speaker 5: obviously the best way to help. But if you can't
- 9:43Speaker 5: do that, putting down straw rather than blankets or anything
- 9:47Speaker 5: you know that is soft material that is going to
- 9:50Speaker 5: be your best in keeping strays warm. Blankets can freeze
- 9:55Speaker 5: with the temperatures dropping. Straw does not. Straw actually insulate.
- 9:59Speaker 5: So actually, if you have stray cats in your area,
- 10:01Speaker 5: if you take an old storage toe, cut a hole
- 10:03Speaker 5: in it, fill it with straw, that works as a
- 10:06Speaker 5: makeshift shelter for the stray cats in your area, and
- 10:09Speaker 5: possibly some dogs that are small enough to fit into
- 10:11Speaker 5: a toe.
- 10:11Speaker 2: And that's something I learned in doing this segment with you,
- 10:14Speaker 2: because I would have thought I wouldn't have thought about
- 10:16Speaker 2: the blankets. They freeze and their heart as a rock
- 10:18Speaker 2: when it gets down to a certain level.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that's actually something that I've learned at the shelter
- 10:24Speaker 5: working there, is that I would automatically think, you know,
- 10:27Speaker 5: insulating with like pleee line blankets and like just really
- 10:30Speaker 5: big comforters, But actually that is the worst thing that
- 10:33Speaker 5: you could probably do. Straw is the best inflator when
- 10:36Speaker 5: it comes to that.
- 10:37Speaker 2: And always make sure too that if you leave out
- 10:39Speaker 2: water for them, that you keep because it's going to freeze,
- 10:41Speaker 2: you know, make sure that that that that you're replenishing
- 10:44Speaker 2: that water, because I mean, they're not very good with
- 10:46Speaker 2: the ice chippers. Animals aren't, so it's always keep that
- 10:49Speaker 2: in mind. I'm going to presume that you guys are
- 10:51Speaker 2: Are you guys out and about anywhere this weekend?
- 10:54Speaker 5: We are not a good call good call the beginning
- 10:57Speaker 5: of the week, and we decided we're going to hunker
- 10:59Speaker 5: down and focused on getting the animals care this weekend
- 11:02Speaker 5: with the impending weather.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I got you there, Hey, I got some good news Angie,
- 11:06Speaker 2: because last week we got Ozzy adopted our pet of
- 11:09Speaker 2: the week. Last week Ozzie got adopted, right absolutely.
- 11:13Speaker 5: I did the segment on Friday, and I had probably
- 11:16Speaker 5: four or five people that wanted to meet Ozzy, and
- 11:19Speaker 5: he was adopted on Saturday, the following day from this show.
- 11:23Speaker 5: So I want to send out a thank you to
- 11:25Speaker 5: everybody that was listening and put in their applications for Ozzy.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I was just kind of curious as to whether it
- 11:31Speaker 2: was on this segment or if it doesn't really matter
- 11:33Speaker 2: as long as we got him adopted, because I also
- 11:35Speaker 2: I had don't normally do this, but I also shared
- 11:38Speaker 2: Ozzy's picture and profile on the ninety eight to seven
- 11:41Speaker 2: of the Mountain Facebook page, because I mean, it's a
- 11:43Speaker 2: rock station and the Dozzie's name Ozzy, and so I
- 11:46Speaker 2: didn't know whether that had anything to do with it
- 11:48Speaker 2: or not, but I know we certainly got some We
- 11:50Speaker 2: got private messages to the Mountain Facebook page about Ozzie as.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Well, either or I know a couple of people that
- 11:57Speaker 5: I had scheduled to meet in Grief Fourhead said they
- 11:59Speaker 5: heard him on the so so it probably a little
- 12:03Speaker 5: bit of both.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I was we don't really care as long as they
- 12:06Speaker 2: get saying care. A couple of quick texts here for you. Texas.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Just saw sweet little Harvey and two month old baby
- 12:11Speaker 2: Cinnamon toast Crunch at pet Co yesterday. I'd take them
- 12:14Speaker 2: all if I could Cinnamon toast crunch.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Yeah, that's CT crunch for sure. She's a two month old, solid,
- 12:21Speaker 5: great kitten that looks like your cats. Oh okay, and
- 12:24Speaker 5: she so maybe you need to take her?
- 12:26Speaker 2: No, no, no, And if my wife is listening, no,
- 12:30Speaker 2: we have two gray cats.
- 12:32Speaker 6: Uh.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And I love I love the gray cats, Russian blues,
- 12:36Speaker 2: whatever they are. I mean, they just got the best personalities.
- 12:38Speaker 2: But two's funny. We're good, We're good. Another text says
- 12:42Speaker 2: text says you could use some broken down cardboard or
- 12:45Speaker 2: tarp to help protect their pawpads from cold concrete and
- 12:48Speaker 2: frozen ground.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Excellent idea. I didn't even think of that, So whoever
- 12:52Speaker 5: sent that in thank you. Yes, you absolutely can, Paul's.
- 12:56Speaker 5: You know, they get injured easily, and these types of
- 12:58Speaker 5: weather or this type of weather, the broken down cardboard
- 13:03Speaker 5: antarp is an excellent idea.
- 13:05Speaker 4: And listen when we're talking about pause, you know, we
- 13:07Speaker 4: talk about it anywhere from the black top in the
- 13:10Speaker 4: summer to now you're looking at the cold that The
- 13:13Speaker 4: other problem too is as they as they get wet
- 13:15Speaker 4: in they're out there and it's gonna be so cold. Listen,
- 13:17Speaker 4: they're gonna melt some snow. But also you've got to
- 13:20Speaker 4: take care of the pause as soon as they come
- 13:21Speaker 4: back in because you've got ice. I mean, it's so
- 13:25Speaker 4: cold out there that it will freeze almost instantly to
- 13:27Speaker 4: some of those paws or nails, things of that nature.
- 13:30Speaker 4: So just you've got to overthink how bad it is
- 13:33Speaker 4: and how cold it is, Like Tuesday morning, the load's
- 13:36Speaker 4: gonna be zero and they're gonna.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Not win chill. That's actual air temper actual air temperature.
- 13:42Speaker 4: So you got to think about these things, you know,
- 13:44Speaker 4: Sunday night, Monday morning, Tuesday morning. How bad things are
- 13:48Speaker 4: going to be. Animals right now is when you've got
- 13:52Speaker 4: to overthink what they need.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, I agree, one percent. It's never hurt anyone
- 13:58Speaker 5: to be over prepared.
- 13:59Speaker 8: Indeed.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Indeed, all right, Angie, I appreciate you being here. Try
- 14:03Speaker 2: to make it through the weather as best you can,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and we'll talk again next week. Thanks a lot.
- 14:07Speaker 5: So we're gonna try and have a good one.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Angie Gillawater, Canal Charleston. You main association with this week's

- 20:27Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 20:28Speaker 12: Like I say, all the outfitters and the vendors are there.
- 20:32Speaker 12: They're looking for you. And if you want to see
- 20:34Speaker 12: Chris Lawrence, he'll be there and you two. And people
- 20:39Speaker 12: have been asking about what happened to Brian Hughes, our
- 20:41Speaker 12: favorite weather man. Now we know where he is the show.
- 20:44Speaker 4: And to see Okay, yeah, let me ask you this. Yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 4: when people can come to the show, you know, are
- 20:50Speaker 4: there license things that they can upgrade? Are there things
- 20:55Speaker 4: that get the kids licensed? Things that nature?
- 20:57Speaker 13: Really?
- 20:58Speaker 12: The Department Natural Resources will be there. They have a
- 21:00Speaker 12: big presence there. Their law enforcement division will be there.
- 21:03Speaker 12: There'll be answering any question you have about licensing, who
- 21:06Speaker 12: needs to get them, where they get them, which the
- 21:10Speaker 12: youngsters will have to have the educational part of it
- 21:14Speaker 12: that they'll have to pass past that test. They can
- 21:16Speaker 12: tell you where to go to get it and so forth.
- 21:20Speaker 12: The the other division of the Natural Resources will be there,
- 21:24Speaker 12: we call it Wildlife. They will answer all your questions
- 21:27Speaker 12: about why we sit certain bag limits and dates and
- 21:31Speaker 12: so forth. And they always have a projects going on.
- 21:34Speaker 12: They may be studying black bears or rattlesnakes or everyone
- 21:37Speaker 12: speak an update you on all that.
- 21:39Speaker 4: So there's a world of information there. Come on down
- 21:42Speaker 4: and and and two. When when you when you go there,
- 21:44Speaker 4: I mean you think about how the d n R
- 21:46Speaker 4: has has evolved, because now you used to you'd go
- 21:49Speaker 4: you shoot it, dear you kill it in on deer season,
- 21:53Speaker 4: in buck season, and the next thing you know, you'd
- 21:56Speaker 4: have to take it in, get it tagged, and.
- 21:58Speaker 14: So not anymore.
- 21:59Speaker 12: No, right now, if you have a sell phone in
- 22:02Speaker 12: the wood, bam, bam, it's it's it's checked in, okay.
- 22:05Speaker 12: Or if you wait to get home, do it on
- 22:07Speaker 12: your your computer, okay, it's it really revolved. It's it's
- 22:11Speaker 12: really easy to do now. And the Department that's resources
- 22:14Speaker 12: came a long ways and making a user friendly as
- 22:17Speaker 12: far as everything involved with the deer hunting, I think
- 22:20Speaker 12: that is the most fascinating thing.
- 22:21Speaker 4: How they how they how they have evolved, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 4: you know, and and to you when you also look,
- 22:26Speaker 4: you know West Virginia now you can put your license
- 22:29Speaker 4: on your iPhone and your Android device. You know, it's
- 22:32Speaker 4: cool how they how they made it to the next
- 22:35Speaker 4: the next version of this world.
- 22:37Speaker 12: Absolutely and again they're all there, come down and talk
- 22:40Speaker 12: to them.
- 22:41Speaker 2: And tell the folks about that special attraction that you
- 22:45Speaker 2: gotta like it, the special traction, but the one in particular, Yes, the.
- 22:49Speaker 12: One in particular, we call it the general. It's the
- 22:52Speaker 12: world class. It's the biggest white tail antlers, set of
- 22:56Speaker 12: antlers that's ever been recorded. Okay if they were found
- 22:59Speaker 12: in Nebraska nineteen fifty nine. It's on a world tour
- 23:03Speaker 12: and we were blessed to get it here in Charleston,
- 23:06Speaker 12: West Virginia this weekend. Normally, if with a if you
- 23:11Speaker 12: kill a white tail deer with the scores one hundred
- 23:14Speaker 12: and ten points, that goes in the record book with
- 23:16Speaker 12: a rifle one hundred and thirty. This thing scored two
- 23:19Speaker 12: hundred and eighteen. It's the world's largest, and we have
- 23:22Speaker 12: it there. Come on down. That alone is worth seeing.
- 23:25Speaker 12: It's almost as big as Chris Lawrence.
- 23:28Speaker 2: We love Chris, we love Christmas. But that I mean,
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean every year, That's one of the things that
- 23:33Speaker 2: I've learned in the time that I've been working with
- 23:34Speaker 2: you guys, is every year you've got that one or
- 23:37Speaker 2: two big attractions that you know, just that people are interested,
- 23:41Speaker 2: even if they're not necessarily outdoors people. They're all they're
- 23:44Speaker 2: all interested in and anomalies like that, or in the
- 23:48Speaker 2: things like that.
- 23:50Speaker 4: But it's not just hunting and fishing. We have kayaks there.
- 23:55Speaker 12: Anything to do with outdoors, if just hiking and so forth,
- 23:59Speaker 12: there's something there for you. I'm gonna have a great
- 24:01Speaker 12: fashion show on Friday afternoon at six o'clock. Any anything
- 24:06Speaker 12: to do with the ladies clothes, the youngster's clothes that
- 24:09Speaker 12: they're there. It's it's a it's a lot of fun
- 24:11Speaker 12: at fashion show. Is worth coming down alone to see.
- 24:13Speaker 2: And uh, and the food. I'm all about the food.
- 24:15Speaker 2: You know that, Glenn. I mean, there's always great food there.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Tell the folks about the phone call that you had
- 24:21Speaker 2: just before you went on the air.
- 24:22Speaker 12: Yes, I just got a phone call from the guys
- 24:24Speaker 12: up in the graft and Phillippy area and they're saying, Hey,
- 24:27Speaker 12: is a guy gonna be there selling bee sticks? I said, yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 12: he says, a guy going be selling jerky? I said,
- 24:33Speaker 12: is a pickle man gonna be there? I said, the
- 24:35Speaker 12: crazy cucumber guy is there. They said, we're coming down
- 24:39Speaker 12: if we have to plow snow coming down seventy nine.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Are you familiar with the pickle guy there, but I
- 24:44Speaker 4: am not. I mean, listen, I love pickles, but I'm
- 24:47Speaker 4: not familiar.
- 24:48Speaker 12: And tell them the story about the pickle guy. The
- 24:50Speaker 12: pickle guy last year he came in. He says, I
- 24:52Speaker 12: have one hundred and fifty five gallon buckets of pickles.
- 24:56Speaker 12: I said, that's amazing. You' you might sell fifty of them.
- 24:59Speaker 12: He ran out and on Saturday went back to Pennsylvania
- 25:02Speaker 12: got fifty more.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Buckets for Sundays. You're kidding me.
- 25:05Speaker 2: True story and these pickles. I mean, you know, that's
- 25:08Speaker 2: what I told Glenn the other day, Brian. I mean
- 25:09Speaker 2: with pickles, I'm thinking, okay, deal bread and butter sweet whatever.
- 25:14Speaker 2: He's got like every kind of pickle from Jalapeno on down.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Well, I'm just checking the bank account to make sure
- 25:20Speaker 4: I can get all the pickles that I want. And yep,
- 25:23Speaker 4: it looks like yep, I.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Can go to it.
- 25:25Speaker 2: It's his first thing on the job. He just went
- 25:26Speaker 2: and asking for in advance.
- 25:28Speaker 12: You know, okay, okay, two grand and they the ponied
- 25:31Speaker 12: it up.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yes, two grands worth.
- 25:33Speaker 4: We do take credit cards. I'm ready, let's go.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And with people in media, sometimes when they give you
- 25:39Speaker 2: a credit card. It's actually their name on it too,
- 25:41Speaker 2: you know, one we found somewhere all right, So Glenn,
- 25:45Speaker 2: we do want to make sure that everybody's safe in
- 25:47Speaker 2: getting out there. And Brian's gonna talk about the weather
- 25:49Speaker 2: a little bit later on, but if you can safely
- 25:51Speaker 2: get there, we want you to come out because you
- 25:53Speaker 2: guys are going to be there. Jason Alding got canceled,
- 25:55Speaker 2: but not the Hunting Fishing Show.
- 25:56Speaker 4: That's correct. We're definitely to open to day at noon. Okay,
- 26:00Speaker 4: what kind of a country fella is he if he's canceling,
- 26:02Speaker 4: but yet we can still have the Hunting Fishing Show.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Well, here's I was having to be honest with you.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I was having a conversation with one of my coworkers
- 26:09Speaker 2: about this today because I thought, and I said, on
- 26:11Speaker 2: the oh, there's no way they'll cancel the Jason Aldean concert,
- 26:15Speaker 2: and they did. And there's a couple of things at
- 26:16Speaker 2: factory in number one we didn't I didn't look at
- 26:18Speaker 2: the tour dates to see where they're coming from. And
- 26:21Speaker 2: you have how many states that are under winter weather
- 26:23Speaker 2: advisories right now?
- 26:23Speaker 4: What do we do? Twenty six of the things?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Twenty six? So chances are again. I haven't looked at
- 26:28Speaker 2: the schedule. There was a Charlotte in there, and there
- 26:30Speaker 2: was in Atlanta or Pittsburgh or one of these. The
- 26:33Speaker 2: city's expected and sadly enough editorial comment. We live in
- 26:37Speaker 2: a society now that likes to sue people, right, and
- 26:39Speaker 2: who knows if somebody on their way to a concert
- 26:43Speaker 2: or would would just come out and say, all right,
- 26:45Speaker 2: this is Jason Alden's fault, or this is the Colin
- 26:47Speaker 2: Seeham's fault that I was driving from Boone County on
- 26:50Speaker 2: my way there and wrecked, I'm gonna sue. I mean,
- 26:52Speaker 2: you can laugh at that.
- 26:53Speaker 4: But the society's reality. But anybody who's come to the
- 26:57Speaker 4: Hunting Fishing Show is not that kind of person exactly.
- 27:00Speaker 4: We know.
- 27:01Speaker 12: Ran I got a call yesterday and guys says, where
- 27:05Speaker 12: are your vendors outfitters coming from?
- 27:08Speaker 4: How far away?
- 27:09Speaker 12: I said, well, Maine, Nebraska, Wyoming, South Africa. He said why,
- 27:16Speaker 12: I said, I have seven outfitters coming from South Africa.
- 27:20Speaker 12: So if you can come from Boone County down coming down,
- 27:23Speaker 12: you're in South Africa, right, But it always rains down

- 31:14Speaker 2: I don't think Glen would mind be telling us. He said,
- 31:15Speaker 2: can I make a quick phone call? Did he call?
- 31:17Speaker 4: His called his wife?
- 31:18Speaker 2: His wife had said guess who I'm with right now.
- 31:21Speaker 4: And handed me the phone over and I said, hi, Udi,
- 31:23Speaker 4: how are you this morning? She goes, Oh my gosh,
- 31:26Speaker 4: I've missed you so much.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Talking to Brian Hughes. See, I never get that anybody
- 31:31Speaker 2: hands the phone to me, it's probably somebody with a
- 31:32Speaker 2: subpoena on the other line or something like that.
- 31:34Speaker 4: But I've had that too.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Well, you know, you know, Bradley Harris, who has no subpoenas,
- 31:39Speaker 2: is with us right now. Hey doing my friend.
- 31:41Speaker 14: Well, I feel honored to be here on Brian Hughes
- 31:43Speaker 14: first day on the job. Yeah, what a pleasure.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yeah, well, thank you. Listen, you know, I've been working
- 31:50Speaker 4: on stuff, trying to get all this lined out, and
- 31:53Speaker 4: I'm thrilled to be here.
- 31:54Speaker 14: I mean happy. I'm happy to see you here. I
- 31:56Speaker 14: think this is a great opportunity. Metro News everybody knows
- 31:59Speaker 14: is the go to statewide and here's here's another powerhouse
- 32:03Speaker 14: added to the group.
- 32:04Speaker 4: So congratulations. Well, I appreciate the kind words. There. We're
- 32:08Speaker 4: gonna have We're gonna have a fun time. CEO upstairs
- 32:10Speaker 4: goes you were here before.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I was. What they're not telling you, Bradley's that they're
- 32:17Speaker 2: firing me, you know, bring this So Dave's last day
- 32:21Speaker 2: is today.
- 32:22Speaker 14: Thank you for your service.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Let's not start those kidding o kidding, all right, Bradley
- 32:27Speaker 2: Harris is here. We're to talk about Carnival coming to
- 32:29Speaker 2: the play Center.
- 32:30Speaker 1: What's the day?
- 32:30Speaker 14: Thank you for having me. It is Saturday, January thirty first,
- 32:33Speaker 14: and we are really excited. This is our fifteenth anniversary.
- 32:37Speaker 14: And I know you've heard a little bit from Sierra
- 32:39Speaker 14: about this, but you know, it's a really special opportunity.
- 32:42Speaker 14: This year. The theme is a reflection and it's created
- 32:46Speaker 14: a lot of buzz What do I wear, what do
- 32:48Speaker 14: I do? And it's really it's reflecting back to those
- 32:51Speaker 14: who started Carnival. And for those who don't know, Carnival
- 32:54Speaker 14: is the play Center, signature event, Clay Center obviously for
- 32:57Speaker 14: the arts and Sciences of West Virginia as the premiere event, art,
- 33:01Speaker 14: science center, children's museum for the state of West Virginia.
- 33:03Speaker 14: And we're really proud of our Clay Center. And you'll
- 33:06Speaker 14: hear me say that our Clay Center because the.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Story good way to put it. Yeah, it's ours.
- 33:11Speaker 14: And you know, I'm somebody who grew up at the
- 33:14Speaker 14: Sunrise Museum and transition to the Clay Center, and I'm
- 33:16Speaker 14: still part of that journey and I just love being
- 33:18Speaker 14: involved there. It's a great group of people to work with,
- 33:21Speaker 14: a great board, great staff, and we're really excited. So
- 33:24Speaker 14: Carnival this year, we're reflecting back on all those who
- 33:27Speaker 14: came before us, who paved the way, and we still
- 33:31Speaker 14: have an opportunity. If you want to come, you can
- 33:33Speaker 14: still come. We have tickets, just a few left.
- 33:36Speaker 2: But I mean just a few. I mean I like, probably.
- 33:39Speaker 14: Today's the day. So if you don't have them yet,
- 33:42Speaker 14: I'm telling you I'm a last minute person. Twenty third hour,
- 33:44Speaker 14: but this is the twenty third hour.
- 33:46Speaker 2: So we started in a half maybe all right, And
- 33:48Speaker 2: it's next Saturday night over at the Clay Center Saturday night.
- 33:51Speaker 2: And this is and you're right about this, Bradley, this
- 33:53Speaker 2: is one of those events that is like a premier.
- 33:55Speaker 2: We have two or three four maybe in Charleston every
- 33:58Speaker 2: year that you got to be. If you're anybody, you
- 34:01Speaker 2: you got to be at this thing and you got
- 34:03Speaker 2: to go all out to be there.
- 34:04Speaker 14: Yes, so seven hundred and fifty people come together. Brian
- 34:08Speaker 14: can tell you. I know he's a frequent flyer there
- 34:10Speaker 14: as I am too. But you know, the costumes get
- 34:14Speaker 14: a little outrageous. Uh. I have one night a year
- 34:18Speaker 14: I say that people look at me and they're like,
- 34:20Speaker 14: I don't think in your profession and your work, you
- 34:21Speaker 14: should be dressing like that. I'm like, I got one
- 34:23Speaker 14: night a year. Okay, it's Carnival, give it to me, right.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Fun Listen, you don't know eyeliner until you've been to Carnival.
- 34:33Speaker 4: There are colors that you go, is she actually wearing?
- 34:36Speaker 4: Is he actually wearing that color of eyeliner? Yes, it's
- 34:39Speaker 4: a fun time. Listen, I'll tell you it is a
- 34:42Speaker 4: fun time. I've hosted the gig. I hosted a gig
- 34:45Speaker 4: for about a decade and alson they kicked me out,
- 34:47Speaker 4: but that's a different story.
- 34:48Speaker 2: But he's not bitter, Yeah, not bitter at all.
- 34:50Speaker 4: He's back.
- 34:51Speaker 14: He's not bitter.
- 34:52Speaker 4: He's bad a decade anyways. But now, listen, I had
- 34:55Speaker 4: a fun time every time, because the one thing about
- 34:59Speaker 4: Carnival is there's always something different. There's never you have
- 35:04Speaker 4: some of the same things that happen, and you know
- 35:05Speaker 4: where the bar is always set up. The bars are
- 35:07Speaker 4: always in the same spot. But there's always something different
- 35:09Speaker 4: at Carnival that you go, huh, I didn't know they
- 35:12Speaker 4: could do that.
- 35:13Speaker 14: There's an element of surprise. But I would be remiss
- 35:16Speaker 14: if I didn't go back to it. And everybody always says,
- 35:18Speaker 14: you know, what's it about. It's just a party, It's this,
- 35:20Speaker 14: it's that, And I always get that question. I obviously
- 35:23Speaker 14: worked very close and shared the event the past three years.
- 35:25Speaker 14: I get to be honorary this year. So I just
- 35:27Speaker 14: thank you Kathy Bush for just allowing me to show
- 35:30Speaker 14: up this year with all of my previous co hosts
- 35:33Speaker 14: throughout the years. But I think more importantly, you know
- 35:35Speaker 14: two point one million dollars raised through the event that
- 35:38Speaker 14: have gone back into steam education programs statewide. And I
- 35:42Speaker 14: think one of my someone from Raleigh County who grew
- 35:45Speaker 14: up traveling. My dad was teacher principal, and my mom
- 35:48Speaker 14: and dad drove me over here. I was a frequent
- 35:50Speaker 14: flyer at the Sunrise and went to the Clay Center.
- 35:53Speaker 14: We now threw dollars raised through Carnival two point one
- 35:56Speaker 14: million dollars. One of those initiatives is Clay to Go
- 35:59Speaker 14: and that put mobile exhibit a Clay Center on the road,
- 36:03Speaker 14: and the goal was all fifty five counties, and so
- 36:05Speaker 14: that's very simple. If you're in a county across West
- 36:08Speaker 14: Virginia outside of Kannall County, you'd like Clay to Go
- 36:10Speaker 14: to come out. We can set up exhibits for a
- 36:13Speaker 14: few weeks at a time, and that really just meets
- 36:15Speaker 14: folks where they are. You know, we know the challenges
- 36:17Speaker 14: of travel and financial needs that exist in the state,
- 36:21Speaker 14: and so the opportunity to bring you know what if
- 36:24Speaker 14: we spark one kid in you know, Work County, or
- 36:27Speaker 14: we spark somebody out in the middle of this way
- 36:30Speaker 14: who may never have access. And I really think it
- 36:33Speaker 14: is a party, it is the go to it's the
- 36:34Speaker 14: signature event of the town, whatever. But I think more
- 36:38Speaker 14: importantly purchasing a ticket or sponsoring you are part of
- 36:43Speaker 14: that impact being made and delivering the mission of the
- 36:46Speaker 14: Clay Center really statewide, and that's so important and that's
- 36:49Speaker 14: really kind of my why and behind that where those
- 36:53Speaker 14: dollars go. And I think that's important to mention as well.
- 36:55Speaker 2: And again, you know, we're kind of spoiled here in
- 36:58Speaker 2: the Kanawh Valley because we have the Clays or we
- 37:00Speaker 2: had the Coddle Seem conventions, and we have all these things.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I'm from a rural county as well that was probably
- 37:05Speaker 2: had a lot more than a lot of other Logan
- 37:07Speaker 2: County had a whole lot more than what some other
- 37:09Speaker 2: counties did.
- 37:09Speaker 14: You had Tops And as a child, I always wanted
- 37:11Speaker 14: to go to Tops. Well, if you remember, I never
- 37:14Speaker 14: made it to Tops.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Let me tell you, if you know about Tops, you
- 37:16Speaker 2: probably could go as a child because they were kind
- 37:18Speaker 2: of a.
- 37:19Speaker 14: Dream of mine. I never I never fulfilled that dream
- 37:22Speaker 14: of all my dreams.
- 37:23Speaker 2: But but but I will say, there are some of
- 37:25Speaker 2: the counties you mentioned that, and I'm not disparaging them
- 37:27Speaker 2: in any way, but I'm just saying they don't always
- 37:29Speaker 2: get a lot of the attention with this Clay on
- 37:31Speaker 2: the go. You go to the work counties, whatever the
- 37:35Speaker 2: county is, you actually take the stuff to them. It's
- 37:37Speaker 2: not about them coming to Charleston as much as it
- 37:40Speaker 2: is about you going to them. And Carnival helps to
- 37:42Speaker 2: make that happen. And it just amazes me when I
- 37:46Speaker 2: had Sierra on a couple of weeks ago talking about
- 37:49Speaker 2: and believe me, I mean Sierra showed me some stuff
- 37:51Speaker 2: that I had never seen before. As it pertains to
- 37:56Speaker 2: the amount of money that they raised and stuff. I
- 37:58Speaker 2: mean it, it is amazing.
- 38:01Speaker 14: Well, and I think more importantly it's the you know,
- 38:04Speaker 14: I said this earlier and I'm going to continue to
- 38:06Speaker 14: say it because when I speak about Clay Center, I
- 38:08Speaker 14: don't say the Clay Center, I say.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Our class Clay Center.
- 38:10Speaker 13: I like that.
- 38:11Speaker 14: The story of the Clay Center is beautiful, and you know,
- 38:15Speaker 14: lyle Clay saw the vision. The Clay family and the
- 38:18Speaker 14: Clay Foundation were very instrumental in the Sunrise and the
- 38:21Speaker 14: Charleston Arts Museum back in it's heyday. I love the Sunrise.
- 38:26Speaker 14: I just it's so nostalgic for me. And I appreciate
- 38:29Speaker 14: my parents more than they know for bringing me out
- 38:31Speaker 14: to do all the things that I got to do
- 38:34Speaker 14: there and at the Clay Center when it opened. But
- 38:36Speaker 14: he saw, he had this vision, and he you know,
- 38:38Speaker 14: why can't we have something so nice like Carnegie and
- 38:42Speaker 14: Pittsburgh and all these other, you know facilities. Two hundred
- 38:46Speaker 14: and forty thousand square foot facility he saw a vision
- 38:48Speaker 14: for in the heart of the capital city for West Virginia.
- 38:52Speaker 14: And I say our Clay Center because it was funded
- 38:55Speaker 14: by our community and a lot of those families who
- 38:58Speaker 14: helped fund it, and the the patrons like me who
- 39:01Speaker 14: give you know what I can and continue will continue
- 39:04Speaker 14: to build that as I continue to grow, really have
- 39:07Speaker 14: created that legacy and now it's our time to take
- 39:10Speaker 14: you know, through programs like Carnival and Clay to go
- 39:14Speaker 14: to really expand the mission and build for the next generation.
- 39:17Speaker 14: And so that's why I just think it's so important
- 39:19Speaker 14: that we continue to invest in facilities like our Clay
- 39:23Speaker 14: Center and engage the community. And this is a great opportunity.
- 39:26Speaker 14: I think it's a great feeder, you know, into donor
- 39:30Speaker 14: stewardship if if you're interested in getting involved and giving back.
- 39:34Speaker 14: Friends of Clay I'll give a quick plug for Friends
- 39:36Speaker 14: of Clay is a membership society of mainly young professionals
- 39:40Speaker 14: and folks who it really develops a pipeline for future
- 39:43Speaker 14: donors for the Clay Center. You know, there you give
- 39:46Speaker 14: what you can and there's you know, an opportunity for
- 39:48Speaker 14: you to be really an advocate for the Clay Center
- 39:51Speaker 14: and to promote the programming. I mean, Roger Nicholson had
- 39:54Speaker 14: the vision for I Love the It used to be
- 39:57Speaker 14: sound Checks, it's now the Emerging Artist Series.
- 40:00Speaker 4: But what an opportunity.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Ryan is our producer today. That's why if you want
- 40:03Speaker 2: to I didn't know.
- 40:05Speaker 14: That through the glass there ahead, but his vision for that,
- 40:09Speaker 14: I think just to bring in emerging artists really, and
- 40:12Speaker 14: that's what we've rebranded it now, the Emerging Roger Nicholson
- 40:16Speaker 14: Emerging Artist Series. But really such an intimate evening that
- 40:19Speaker 14: you get to spend on the Clay Center stage. And
- 40:21Speaker 14: I love being on that stage and looking back at
- 40:24Speaker 14: those gorgeous seats. I just think it's such a beautiful
- 40:27Speaker 14: What a gym we have here in the heart of Charleston,
- 40:30Speaker 14: and and serve so many people, not only in the
- 40:33Speaker 14: state but regionally. You know, we get great events, we
- 40:36Speaker 14: get great concerts, the Broadway Series, and so, like I said,
- 40:40Speaker 14: Zach and Kathy and the whole team over there do
- 40:42Speaker 14: such an incredible job in elevating the mission of the
- 40:45Speaker 14: Clay Center.
- 40:46Speaker 2: All right, but you need to get your tickets like yesterday.
- 40:49Speaker 14: Right right now today? Yeah, hang up and get the yeah?
- 40:52Speaker 8: Yeah all right?
- 40:54Speaker 2: And where wherehere can they get tickets? Where's the best place?
- 40:56Speaker 14: I would go online? So to the Clay Center. You
- 40:58Speaker 14: need to get to Clay Center website, get online, go
- 41:00Speaker 14: on social media. There'll be links to click out and
- 41:03Speaker 14: get your outfits. You can rush order.
- 41:04Speaker 2: And I'll say this, since we got weather Boy here,
- 41:08Speaker 2: I would say that next Saturday, we're concerned about this weekend.
- 41:12Speaker 2: But one thing we know next Saturday it is going
- 41:14Speaker 2: to be cold next week. We can already say that.
- 41:16Speaker 2: So you're choosing your outfit plan accordingly, Just right, Brian.

- 44:54Speaker 2: warm Wedge wins out like always, And all snow totals
- 44:57Speaker 2: will be much lower than predicted. I already West Virginia.
- 45:00Speaker 2: But this happens all the time, and I saw it
- 45:02Speaker 2: in countless storms when I was up there, from Virginia
- 45:05Speaker 2: to the PA border. And one nineteen up to I
- 45:08Speaker 2: seventy nine to west will be snow accumulation. Bus see
- 45:10Speaker 2: what Brian thinks about this.
- 45:12Speaker 4: So the warm wedge, Yes, we always say the warm
- 45:15Speaker 4: wedge wins. The trick about this is that forecast models
- 45:19Speaker 4: are now trending back to a colder solution. A matter
- 45:23Speaker 4: of fact, even the Nashal weathers servers. About eight o'clock
- 45:25Speaker 4: this morning, I popped out new snow totals that bumped
- 45:27Speaker 4: them back up. Okay, I listened the American model and
- 45:34Speaker 4: the let's see, the American model in the Canadian model
- 45:38Speaker 4: are trending back to the cold. And actually the American
- 45:41Speaker 4: model never left once it resolved its issues, you know,
- 45:46Speaker 4: day before yesterday, it aligned itself with the European and
- 45:50Speaker 4: the Canadian and the German forecast model. This is German model.
- 45:57Speaker 4: You have to do an accent every once in a while,
- 45:59Speaker 4: but these forecast models typically you take the American you
- 46:04Speaker 4: throw it out. You can't right now because it is
- 46:07Speaker 4: not moving from its solution, which is all snow and yeah,
- 46:12Speaker 4: maybe a little sleep and then ice, maybe in a
- 46:15Speaker 4: freezing ring like McDow, Wyoming, Summers Counties, maybe down around
- 46:19Speaker 4: Pike Fulle.
- 46:20Speaker 2: But for people that are saying, okay, the warm wadge
- 46:23Speaker 2: is going to get out, we're going to get nothing.
- 46:25Speaker 2: That is not true.
- 46:26Speaker 4: It's not true at all.
- 46:26Speaker 2: If a warm wedge completely overpowers us, we're still going
- 46:30Speaker 2: to get a lot of snow.
- 46:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Matter of fact, let me explain this real quick for you.
- 46:36Speaker 4: As far as the snow is concerned. On Saturday alone,
- 46:41Speaker 4: from Saturday into Sunday morning, Huntington gets six to eight
- 46:45Speaker 4: inches of snow, Charleston four to six, Logan four to six,
- 46:50Speaker 4: Flatwood's six. Then the ice, if the ice and freezing
- 46:55Speaker 4: ring comes in, well, then after that's done, guess what
- 46:59Speaker 4: we get on the back side from Sunday into Monday,
- 47:03Speaker 4: we still get another three to four inches. So whatever,
- 47:06Speaker 4: even if even if you have the base that shrinks
- 47:10Speaker 4: because of the rain or the freezing rain weighs it down,
- 47:13Speaker 4: you still have more on the backside.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Right. It is And that's the thing about it is
- 47:17Speaker 2: is this is and it does remind the multi pronged
- 47:20Speaker 2: store and it's uh, and it's gonna start for most folks.
- 47:23Speaker 2: And again we're concentrated in the Knau Valley. Four o'clock tomorrow,
- 47:27Speaker 2: four or.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Five, Yeah, about about four o'clock, we'll have some flurries
- 47:29Speaker 4: as early as one, one, two, o'clock, but four o'clock
- 47:33Speaker 4: that's when the snow starts. And by six seven o'clock
- 47:35Speaker 4: you probably got an inch, maybe maybe two on the ground,
- 47:38Speaker 4: but probably about an inch. And then as we go
- 47:40Speaker 4: through Saturday night and then on into Sunday morning, that's
- 47:44Speaker 4: when that's when the bulk of our snow will fall. Now,
- 47:47Speaker 4: if the if it stays further south, if the solutions
- 47:52Speaker 4: keep us out of the really, if they just keep
- 47:54Speaker 4: us out of the rain, if they keep us out
- 47:56Speaker 4: of the freezing rain, yeah, we're still gonna have some
- 47:59Speaker 4: of it. You won't have melting, but you'll have compaction.
- 48:02Speaker 4: But if we do get rain, it's still you know,
- 48:04Speaker 4: you're still gonna have so much snow. And guess what.
- 48:06Speaker 4: That creates a layer of ice, and then after that
- 48:10Speaker 4: you've got the bitter cold. The numbers specifically for Charleston,
- 48:17Speaker 4: and make sure you have all these numbers are in
- 48:20Speaker 4: thirty three are high today, eight tonight, tomorrow's highest twenty three.
- 48:24Speaker 4: Guess what that does? That sets up It makes sure
- 48:27Speaker 4: that any the ground in the first half inch to inch,
- 48:31Speaker 4: if it's warm, just to touch where it's a little softer,
- 48:33Speaker 4: you walk across the dirt, right now, it's a little softer,
- 48:36Speaker 4: but about an inch to two inches below it, it's frozen,
- 48:39Speaker 4: but that freezes up that top layer. So guess what,
- 48:41Speaker 4: it's fully supportive of all this snow that's gonna fall
- 48:44Speaker 4: and it's gonna stick. There's no melting that's gonna happen.
- 48:49Speaker 4: By the way, zero on Tuesday morning, the low.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Text says, I heard the snow accumulation will be a
- 48:53Speaker 2: total of six seven thankstra.
- 48:58Speaker 4: Of course. I mean listen, and we're gonna have plows
- 49:00Speaker 4: out and there's gonna be people with back hoes moving
- 49:04Speaker 4: the snow.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's I think. I think if the
- 49:06Speaker 2: texture could have done the thing with the kids, don't
- 49:09Speaker 2: I don't get that a lot do adults get so
- 49:12Speaker 2: upset when kids do stupid things because having kids always
- 49:14Speaker 2: done stupid things.
- 49:15Speaker 4: Kids always do stupid things. But guess what the adults,
- 49:17Speaker 4: adults go, that's funny but stupid, but I'm gonna do it.
- 49:20Speaker 2: And then the kids are looking at you, going, oh,
- 49:22Speaker 2: that's six months ago, right exactly. They don't do that.
- 49:24Speaker 2: But Dave Island Show on five eighty line is brought
- 49:26Speaker 2: to you parted by Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury
- 49:29Speaker 2: law firm. All right, so Sunday's temperatures though, the temperatures
- 49:32Speaker 2: yeah are actually am I did I hear you quicker?
- 49:35Speaker 2: Are actually gonna be a little bit warmer than what
- 49:36Speaker 2: they were on Saturday. Yes, is there a chance that
- 49:39Speaker 2: if it does turn to rain that some of the
- 49:42Speaker 2: snow gets swept away?
- 49:45Speaker 4: I no, I mean yes, there will be melting. Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 4: and there could be. At maximum, there's about a six
- 49:52Speaker 4: hour window of rain. But again, the ground is solidly
- 49:56Speaker 4: frozen and all you're doing is compacting it. Yes, you're
- 49:59Speaker 4: gonna have a little this wash off some streets. They're
- 50:01Speaker 4: gonna be awesome. But immediately following that as an arctic
- 50:04Speaker 4: blast of cold air that will solidly make everything ice,
- 50:07Speaker 4: and you have snow on the backside of the system
- 50:09Speaker 4: Sunday night in a Monday morning and then puts another
- 50:12Speaker 4: layer down, and at that point you go, well, crap,
- 50:15Speaker 4: there's not much we can do except it's a skating
- 50:18Speaker 4: rink and no school Monday, probably not Tuesday.
- 50:20Speaker 2: And people always look at you know, and I know
- 50:23Speaker 2: you guys in the weather. I mean, it must drive
- 50:25Speaker 2: you crazy because people are always saying, well, how much
- 50:27Speaker 2: is so and so going to get how much. It's
- 50:29Speaker 2: not about the amount of snow. I mean it doesn't
- 50:32Speaker 2: matter because in this type of scenario you're talking about
- 50:36Speaker 2: four inches may as well be twelve or thirteen. I
- 50:40Speaker 2: mean as far as the driving a building.
- 50:42Speaker 4: So the most accidents happened between one and two inches
- 50:46Speaker 4: of snow, and then after that three plus. It doesn't matter.
- 50:51Speaker 4: I mean it does, but it doesn't. But I can
- 50:54Speaker 4: tell you this I saw yesterday. You saw I posted
- 50:57Speaker 4: the picture. I was following the beat juice from the
- 51:01Speaker 4: West Virginia Department of Highways. They were putting beat juice
- 51:04Speaker 4: down as a preemptive strike against this storm.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Now, what does beat juice really do you're a scientist.
- 51:11Speaker 4: It actually so. It actually lowers the It actually makes
- 51:14Speaker 4: sure that you know, it acts as a melting agent.
- 51:18Speaker 4: And it's also not corrosive to your vehicles. It's going
- 51:22Speaker 4: to stickle to more. Yeah, and your vehicle might be
- 51:24Speaker 4: a little sticky if you get behind one of those
- 51:25Speaker 4: struct matter fact, my truck sticky. But it is actually
- 51:29Speaker 4: it allows the snow not to particularly stick on the road.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Even with the temperatures.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Even with the temperatures, it's better than salt and brine.
- 51:36Speaker 2: So who knew beat juice beat you?
- 51:38Speaker 4: And actually they've been doing this for about fifteen years.
- 51:40Speaker 4: It's just they did the experiences in West Virginia to
- 51:43Speaker 4: make sure it all was working out. And they were
- 51:45Speaker 4: spraying yesterday.
- 51:46Speaker 2: And if you're going to a grocery store today, used
- 51:48Speaker 2: some common sense, right, be nice. My wife was over
- 51:51Speaker 2: at Kroger Tay's Valley early this morning. I don't know
- 51:54Speaker 2: whether I was supposed to say this or not, but
- 51:56Speaker 2: I'll go ahead and say it. Someone there told her
- 51:58Speaker 2: they did seven hundred and forty nine and thousand dollars
- 52:01Speaker 2: in business yestertests.
- 52:03Speaker 4: My friends at Sam's Club. Million dollar day yesterday, all right,
- 52:08Speaker 4: million dollar day today.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Minion Olligs is Brian Hughes. Welcome to the team, my friend.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Good to be here.
- 52:12Speaker 2: And uh, you're gonna stick around and think for some
- 52:14Speaker 2: a talk line. Yeah, Wilson, what you all right? Wilson
- 52:17Speaker 2: Meadows Meadows is here? What I take offense today? I'm sorry?
- 52:19Speaker 2: What you get? What you got? Real quick?
- 52:21Speaker 13: We're going to all things storm hockey stops by stire,
- 52:24Speaker 13: Walton House politics.
- 52:25Speaker 2: All right, Hey to Zee, we got you all right,
- 52:27Speaker 2: I'll see you later today with Amanda. Till then, have
- 52:29Speaker 2: fun and love somebody.
