Speaker 2: the Pause on the Trail Dog Fairland.
2:39
Speaker 4: The culture is here to talk about it. Linda, good morning,
2:42
Speaker 4: welcome to the show.
2:42
Speaker 5: Good morning, and thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
2:45
Speaker 2: It's going to be held August twenty ninth, starting at
2:48
Speaker 2: ten at the Claudia L. Workman Wildlife Education Center, which
2:52
Speaker 2: is located in Alum Creek.
2:54
Speaker 4: Tell Us about tell us about this event.
2:56
Speaker 6: Well, the event is going to be a wonderful day,
2:59
Speaker 6: family friendly, free admission donatations are always accepted. Things that's
3:05
Speaker 6: going to be included are adult costume and a best
3:08
Speaker 6: trick contest. These contests are five dollars donation to be
3:11
Speaker 6: able to support your pet, isn't it? So come dressed
3:15
Speaker 6: off fancy and dancy and.
3:16
Speaker 4: Have you want you say, are you supposed to dress
3:19
Speaker 4: like your pets?
3:20
Speaker 5: You can, okay, I mean if you want to. They
3:23
Speaker 5: do say.
3:24
Speaker 6: The longer we have animals, the more like we are
3:27
Speaker 6: like our animals.
3:27
Speaker 5: And the way we look at them.
3:29
Speaker 6: That there's going to be a guided leash trail walk
3:32
Speaker 6: with your animal. Now remember you are in the woods,
3:35
Speaker 6: so come you know, proportionally prepared for that to be
3:39
Speaker 6: able to clean any unwanted traveling guests. By the way
3:44
Speaker 6: of tics, There'll be pet vendors from local businesses, rescue
3:48
Speaker 6: an adoption area, We'll have food trucks and raffles, and
3:51
Speaker 6: then there'll be some prizes. There'll be plenty of kids
3:53
Speaker 6: activities and of course the wildlife education at the Claudia
3:57
Speaker 6: Ale Workman Education Center. And then there'll be dog water stations.
4:02
Speaker 2: Now I've spent a little time with different folks talking
4:05
Speaker 2: about this wildlife education center that's the CLAUDA. Workman Wildlife
4:08
Speaker 2: Education Center. Tell us what you know about that? I mean,
4:10
Speaker 2: it's a fantastic facility that a lot of people here
4:12
Speaker 2: in the kanav Valley may not know a lot about it.
4:14
Speaker 6: If you don't know where it is. It's at three
4:16
Speaker 6: oh one forks of Coal Way in alam Creek. That's
4:21
Speaker 6: about three miles south of South Ridge. It's going to
4:24
Speaker 6: set on your right if you leave South Ridge heading
4:27
Speaker 6: out the Quarter, you kind of miss it if you're
4:29
Speaker 6: not looking for it. There is a sign that directs you,
4:32
Speaker 6: so when you turn in to your right, you're going
4:34
Speaker 6: to make another right and that'll take you out of
4:36
Speaker 6: small short road that you paralleled on your way on
4:40
Speaker 6: the Quarter and you'll park in a huge parking lot
4:42
Speaker 6: and that's where the event will also take place. The
4:45
Speaker 6: education Center is everything that has speaks so well about
4:50
Speaker 6: our state and about the Alam Creek area. And we
4:54
Speaker 6: partnered with the DNR Department Natural Resources. And it's a
4:58
Speaker 6: beautiful building that was donating by Claudia and Jack Workman,
5:03
Speaker 6: and that was part of their bequest that this center
5:08
Speaker 6: be put together by the foundation and for people to
5:12
Speaker 6: come and walk the trails, enjoy the trails, bring your
5:15
Speaker 6: family out, spend the day in the afternoon out on
5:20
Speaker 6: the trails again, and then in the building. And you're
5:23
Speaker 6: going to see wildlife from our snakes, from our turtle.
5:27
Speaker 6: And you may be lucky enough to be there when
5:29
Speaker 6: the turtle is walking around, okay and is out.
5:32
Speaker 4: You're going to see snakes. Are you going to see them?
5:34
Speaker 6: Behind behind behind glass, behind glass. They are very comfortable,
5:39
Speaker 6: you know, but they hide, but they're there. And we
5:43
Speaker 6: do have plenty of fish, and there's gar things that
5:46
Speaker 6: you may not be otherwise able to see. I think
5:49
Speaker 6: the most striking thing about the as you enter into
5:51
Speaker 6: the center, there is on the carpet a facsimile of
5:55
Speaker 6: Coal River, so it does snake through the inside of
5:58
Speaker 6: the building.
5:59
Speaker 4: No pun intended, No pun intended.
6:01
Speaker 2: We had to text somebody asking about the time in
6:03
Speaker 2: the place. It's August twenty ninth. Starts at ten.
6:06
Speaker 5: Am ten am to four pm.
6:07
Speaker 2: Yes, it sounds like it's going to be a whole
6:09
Speaker 2: lot of fun. I think so fun and educational, but
6:11
Speaker 2: more emphasis on the fund.
6:13
Speaker 6: It's a way to get to know the center. It's
6:14
Speaker 6: a way to get to get your kids outside and
6:16
Speaker 6: away from their social media.
6:20
Speaker 5: Say that it is and.
6:22
Speaker 4: Mom and dad away from it too.
6:23
Speaker 6: Well, yes, yes, yes, that's the point taken. But no,
6:27
Speaker 6: I enjoy the hikes and the trails and getting out.
6:31
Speaker 2: This is And again we've talked about this on the
6:33
Speaker 2: show in the past. I think a lot of people
6:34
Speaker 2: how long has this been out there? How long has
6:36
Speaker 2: this been a thing the Wildlife Center?
6:39
Speaker 6: Gosh, three, two to three years. It's not been very long.
6:43
Speaker 6: I was thinking the trails have been there for years.
6:45
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, obviously, but the center itself has only been
6:49
Speaker 6: open maybe two years.
6:51
Speaker 5: Don't quote me on that, but it's something like that.
6:54
Speaker 6: Yes, And it's just a beautiful facility to come out
6:58
Speaker 6: and to spend time on a rain. I mean, the
7:00
Speaker 6: center itself has a scavenger hunt you can find the animals,
7:05
Speaker 6: and then they offer classes you just stay in touch
7:08
Speaker 6: with on social media. With a Claudiel Workman Wildlife Center,
7:12
Speaker 6: it's such a mouthful to say.
7:13
Speaker 2: Well, what do you know about Claudia work and her
7:16
Speaker 2: I mean, I know they give a lot to this
7:17
Speaker 2: in her husband, they give a lot to this area,
7:19
Speaker 2: But what do you.
7:20
Speaker 5: Know, well they did.
7:23
Speaker 6: I had the opportunity to work for Claudia back when
7:25
Speaker 6: she had Workmen Developments, back when I was starting out
7:27
Speaker 6: in my life of a marketing and public information and
7:35
Speaker 6: I did a pay step for her for her book
7:37
Speaker 6: for workmen Development.
7:38
Speaker 5: So I got to know her through that. She was
7:40
Speaker 5: just a wonderful lady.
7:41
Speaker 6: She was an English teacher who she expected things to
7:46
Speaker 6: be correct and the way she wanted them, and she
7:48
Speaker 6: was just a lovely lady. And then I had opportunities
7:51
Speaker 6: to meet her on other occasions and I was working
7:54
Speaker 6: for for Kroger's and I was there is the chef
8:01
Speaker 6: in residence at the deli at the what to call
8:04
Speaker 6: the Gucci Crokers an argument of the I know, I
8:11
Speaker 6: know that's the one at south Ridge, Yes, this is
8:13
Speaker 6: at south Ridge.
8:13
Speaker 7: Now.
8:14
Speaker 6: I liked that Kroger's. It was fun to be there
8:17
Speaker 6: because you got to meet everybody. But anyway, I got
8:20
Speaker 6: to meet her again and reintroduce myself to her, and
8:23
Speaker 6: we caught up on you know, what we've been doing
8:25
Speaker 6: since then.
8:26
Speaker 5: And she's just a lovely lady.
8:27
Speaker 6: I mean, you know, you could just stand and talk
8:29
Speaker 6: to her for hours, and she loved her animals, and
8:31
Speaker 6: she she loved her property and she just wanted to
8:35
Speaker 6: share what she had the good fortune to make in
8:37
Speaker 6: her lifetime, and she wanted to share it with the community.
8:40
Speaker 6: So she left this legacy in her name for the public.
8:43
Speaker 6: So Kennall Countians and West Virginians in general, I need
8:47
Speaker 6: to find the CLAUDIELL Workman Wildlife Center. It is a
8:51
Speaker 6: jewel for Kennall County.
8:53
Speaker 2: Talk it again with Lynda Coulter as nine sixteen, Go
8:55
Speaker 2: Mart and your favorite WVRC media stations are giving you
8:58
Speaker 2: the chance to win an incredible v IP experience at
9:00
Speaker 2: wvu's season openers September the fifth, when the Valenthiers take

9:05
Speaker 4: Become a miracle.

Speaker 2: the team, attend a VIP tailgate party before the game,
9:16
Speaker 2: get field access before kickoff, and get four touchdown terrace tickets.
9:20
Speaker 2: Once in a lifetime I've experienced for WVU fans, and
9:24
Speaker 2: you can also help out West Virginia's kids as well.
9:26
Speaker 2: See all the rules and details at your favorite WVRC
9:29
Speaker 2: media station websites. Go mark at the official convenience store
9:32
Speaker 2: of WVU Athletics and WVRC Media Stations. Let's go mountaineers,
9:37
Speaker 2: all right, I'm going to talk going back to the center.
9:39
Speaker 2: Do you get a lot of visitors that come in
9:41
Speaker 2: as far as like that, like the school groups and
9:43
Speaker 2: things of that, And because I would think you probably would.
9:46
Speaker 6: We do. There's four school groups coming right now than individuals,
9:49
Speaker 6: but some days they people just kind of stumble upon center.
9:54
Speaker 5: Yes.
9:55
Speaker 6: And then the course hikers, those that do hike regularly
9:58
Speaker 6: on the trails, and I have people just beginning to
10:02
Speaker 6: use the parking lot. Those of us that have difficulty
10:05
Speaker 6: managing trails walk the circle of the parking lot. It
10:08
Speaker 6: is almost a mile if you circle it. So when
10:11
Speaker 6: you do your if you have a certain amount that
10:14
Speaker 6: you want to walk, you can go.
10:15
Speaker 5: That's flap easy, no rock, one lap or twenty whatever
10:20
Speaker 5: feels good.
10:20
Speaker 8: Yeah.
10:20
Speaker 4: What are the hours for the center?
10:22
Speaker 6: Of the center is closed on Monday and the rest
10:25
Speaker 6: of the time it's open from ten to four, Okay,
10:29
Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure what it is. And rainy days it's open.
10:32
Speaker 6: There's just places to sit there. There are picnic benches
10:37
Speaker 6: if you want to bring the family to come out
10:38
Speaker 6: and eat. So there's things to do rather than just
10:43
Speaker 6: you know, sitting.
10:44
Speaker 4: All right.
10:45
Speaker 2: So this particular event though, it's the Palls on the
10:48
Speaker 2: Trail Dog Fare and it's going to be August twenty ninth,
10:52
Speaker 2: starts at ten in the morning at the Claudia Workman

11:17
Speaker 4: enjoy it. Again.
11:17

Speaker 2: three five five zero zero eight want to welcome to
14:01
Speaker 2: the show now. Housing and Urban Development Deputy Secretary Joe D. Felice,
14:05
Speaker 2: Good morning, sir, welcome to the show. And I hope
14:07
Speaker 2: I pronounced your name right.
14:09
Speaker 12: You did, Dave, Thank you all right.
14:11
Speaker 4: So I understand you.
14:12
Speaker 2: Were in West Virginia recently. Why were you here and
14:16
Speaker 2: what did you do when you were here?
14:18
Speaker 12: Well, we were there for two reasons. We came in
14:21
Speaker 12: last Tuesday and we met in the capital to announce
14:24
Speaker 12: fourteen new members of our hood work in Dignity Coalition
14:28
Speaker 12: and we'll get back to that. And then we also
14:30
Speaker 12: spent the bulk of last Wednesday, you know, down in
14:33
Speaker 12: Nicole Fields in the southern region, in Beckley and the
14:36
Speaker 12: Logan and really just highlighting the housing situation down there
14:41
Speaker 12: with the transition towards more tourism, what that's doing for
14:45
Speaker 12: the housing market down there, and then how we can
14:47
Speaker 12: be helpful with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
14:49
Speaker 2: And it is interesting that you talk about that transition,
14:52
Speaker 2: especially as you as you get into southern West Virginia,
14:54
Speaker 2: because as you said, it is a big tourism economy
14:58
Speaker 2: down there right now, and one of the issues that
15:00
Speaker 2: they've had is there's just simply well this is an
15:03
Speaker 2: issue pretty much everywhere in West Virginia's they're just not
15:06
Speaker 2: enough housing.
15:07
Speaker 4: That seems to be a problem. I'm sure you heard
15:09
Speaker 4: that when you were here.
15:11
Speaker 12: That's exactly what we heard when we were there. I mean,
15:13
Speaker 12: especially when we were down there. Obviously you know the
15:15
Speaker 12: coal you know, from Williamson the Logan, well, so all
15:18
Speaker 12: the way threw up in the Beckley you know, coals
15:21
Speaker 12: has been the giant. We toreed an old coal mine
15:24
Speaker 12: in Beckley. But while we were there, they're saying, hey,
15:27
Speaker 12: like let's got into tourism, and some people are more
15:29
Speaker 12: interested in putting the houses that are there in the
15:32
Speaker 12: airbnb's which is significantly shrinking the shortage since it's i
15:36
Speaker 12: mean enlarging the shortage, especially since it is so rural
15:41
Speaker 12: down there, so it's not like there's a ton of
15:43
Speaker 12: you know, new housing being built. It's the current stock
15:45
Speaker 12: which is becoming an issue.
15:47
Speaker 2: Well, and the current stock is fine, but like you said,
15:48
Speaker 2: we need some new stock down there and here in
15:50
Speaker 2: the Kenaw Valley too.
15:51
Speaker 4: I mean that's that's very important.
15:52
Speaker 12: Right, Yeah, it is, and which is I think one
15:55
Speaker 12: of the reasons you know, on the front side of that,
15:57
Speaker 12: while we're there on the public housing and hunt A
15:59
Speaker 12: City did housing side, there is a backlog and we
16:02
Speaker 12: want to help free up the backlog through our work
16:05
Speaker 12: in Dignity Coalition.
16:06
Speaker 2: I want you to, if you would expand upon the
16:09
Speaker 2: work of this work and Dignity Coalition, tell us about
16:11
Speaker 2: the mission statement and what this is all about.
16:14
Speaker 12: Yeah, we'll do so. Back in February, Secretary Turner our
16:18
Speaker 12: HUD Secretary Scott Turner proposed a new rule which would
16:20
Speaker 12: allow flexibility for housing authorities to make their own rules
16:25
Speaker 12: around time limits at work requirements. You may be aware
16:28
Speaker 12: that you know, Secretary Turner got rid of ass H
16:31
Speaker 12: was the firmatively furthering fair housing rule that came in
16:34
Speaker 12: the Obama administration, which essentially acted like a national zoning board.
16:37
Speaker 12: This was giving power back to localities and municipalities to
16:41
Speaker 12: make their own decisions, you know, through HUD housing authorities
16:45
Speaker 12: don't have to they're unable to make their own decisions
16:48
Speaker 12: about you know, whether there's going to be time limits
16:50
Speaker 12: or work requirements leading to you know, long waiting lists,
16:54
Speaker 12: waiting lists that are closed, waiting lists that have you know,
16:57
Speaker 12: in some areas one hundred thousand people on them. Really
17:00
Speaker 12: free up that backlog, put some work requirements, promote self sufficiency,
17:04
Speaker 12: and break the cycle of generational poverty. But by doing that,
17:09
Speaker 12: the fourteen housing authorities that were there in the capital
17:12
Speaker 12: with us last Tuesday signified that they support this rule change,
17:17
Speaker 12: giving the power back to them and not being mandated
17:19
Speaker 12: from bureaucrats in Washington.
17:21
Speaker 2: So now you said that you were at the Capitol
17:23
Speaker 2: last week. Were their meetings involving some of the legislators
17:28
Speaker 2: in West Virginia government officials were they part of that
17:30
Speaker 2: as well?
17:31
Speaker 12: We were joined by a Senator Roland Roberts team. He
17:34
Speaker 12: spent the whole time with us, and then afterwards I
17:36
Speaker 12: had an opportunity to catch up with Secretary of State
17:39
Speaker 12: Chris Warner. We talked about opportunity zones. And then Chris
17:42
Speaker 12: and I had worked together in the first Trump administration
17:44
Speaker 12: when he was with USDA World Development and I was
17:47
Speaker 12: with HUD. We did a lot of work together, specifically
17:50
Speaker 12: around housing, but he and I caught up on opportunity
17:53
Speaker 12: zones and how that can be helpful. There's fifty five
17:55
Speaker 12: opportunity zones right now, and it's going to be huge
17:58
Speaker 12: for West Virginia because US out of the big, big
18:01
Speaker 12: beautiful Bill, specifically the Working Families tax cuts, it allows
18:06
Speaker 12: for more flexibility with respect to rural development. And fortunately
18:11
Speaker 12: or unfortunately, the entire state of West Virginia is classified
18:14
Speaker 12: as rural, which will allow you know, thirty percent step
18:18
Speaker 12: up in basis. This is you know, this is getting
18:20
Speaker 12: into the weeds year. But my point is it's going
18:22
Speaker 12: to draw where a lot of the funding was more
18:26
Speaker 12: geared towards urban areas. This is going to drive more
18:28
Speaker 12: to rural airbage, which can really be a boon for
18:30
Speaker 12: West Virginia specifically in that tourism market part.
18:33
Speaker 2: Again with think with Deputy Secretary Joe de Felice about
18:37
Speaker 2: his recent trip here to West Virginia, and it's you know,
18:40
Speaker 2: music to my ears to hear that people are in
18:43
Speaker 2: Washington are getting the message about helping more rural areas
18:46
Speaker 2: here because as you said, it seems like the urban
18:48
Speaker 2: areas get all of the attention, not saying that they
18:49
Speaker 2: shouldn't get a lot of the attention. There's a whole
18:51
Speaker 2: lot more rural in America than what there is urban.
18:55
Speaker 12: Yeah, and then that's very clear to get outside of
18:58
Speaker 12: Charleston as well. But you know what, just as much
19:01
Speaker 12: in the in the Northern Panhandle. Obviously the Eastern Panhandle
19:04
Speaker 12: is starting to suburban afi if you will. But you know,
19:08
Speaker 12: I've we've been all over the state and specifically with
19:11
Speaker 12: the topography there too. I spent a lot of time
19:13
Speaker 12: in West Virginia really around flooding. Whether it's been in
19:16
Speaker 12: the South, I know there were just some you know,
19:17
Speaker 12: devastating bloods in the east, southeast of the state and
19:20
Speaker 12: u but also in the Northern Panhandle. It seems like,
19:23
Speaker 12: you know, every year there's a thousand year flood that
19:25
Speaker 12: it's West Virginia and that's where HUD also comes in
19:28
Speaker 12: on the disaster recovery side. SEEMA and SBA are the
19:31
Speaker 12: first ones on the ground, but HUD sticks around as
19:34
Speaker 12: the long term recovery partner.
19:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting on the flooding because I've heard that
19:38
Speaker 2: term thousand year flood, as you said, used quite a
19:40
Speaker 2: lot of the last couple of years, and I think
19:42
Speaker 2: that defeats the very definition of a thousand year flood,
19:44
Speaker 2: to be honest with you.
19:46
Speaker 12: Well, you know, it's funny. I didn't realize that's actually
19:48
Speaker 12: that was actually a term, right, Like if people don't
19:51
Speaker 12: just call it a thousand year flood, it's actually the
19:55
Speaker 12: type of flood is a thousand year flood. It's like
19:57
Speaker 12: mandated that way. So it's so you can have a
20:00
Speaker 12: thousand year flood every year, but unfortunately West Virginia seems
20:03
Speaker 12: to have them a lot more than everyone else.
20:05
Speaker 2: All Right, So I know you got to go because
20:08
Speaker 2: you're on a tight schedule. But but what was your
20:09
Speaker 2: overall give me thirty seconds, what was your overall takeaway
20:12
Speaker 2: from your visit here to West Virginia last week?
20:15
Speaker 12: You know, the energy and the spirit I saw from
20:17
Speaker 12: those housing authorities about one that people from Washington care
20:20
Speaker 12: about West Virginia, that they care about rural West Virginia. Again,
20:24
Speaker 12: our job isn't to dictate from Washington to the people
20:26
Speaker 12: in West Virginia how to do Their job is for
20:28
Speaker 12: them to tell us how we can do our jobs better.
20:31
Speaker 12: And by them leading the charge on working dignity and
20:33
Speaker 12: make it in their own decisions, it's going to strengthen
20:35
Speaker 12: our department. It's going to strengthen this country, all right.
20:37
Speaker 2: Joe Dflise, I'm sorry, the h Deputy secretary. I hope
20:42
Speaker 2: you enjoyed your time in West Virginia and appreciate you
20:45
Speaker 2: taking time to be on the show today.
20:46
Speaker 12: Thanks a lot, thank you for having me. I'll be
20:48
Speaker 12: back soon, all right.
20:49
Speaker 2: Joe de Felicie again, the HUT Deputy Deputy secretary. And
20:53
Speaker 2: they were in town. He and his organization in town
20:56
Speaker 2: last week. Glad to see that some of the rural
20:58
Speaker 2: areas is getting little bit of attention. Nine twenty nine
21:01
Speaker 2: a day Island Show and find Vedieline brought to you
21:03
Speaker 2: in part by Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
21:06
Speaker 2: If you're injured, visit for the people dot com. I
21:09
Speaker 2: want to knock out a couple of texts here because
21:11
Speaker 2: we had had quite a few texts coming in this morning.
21:13
Speaker 2: So let me get to a couple of those text
21:15
Speaker 2: One text on the Claudia L. Workman Wildlife Center that
21:18
Speaker 2: somebody asked if there were horseshoe mounds for horseshoe stakes.
21:21
Speaker 4: I did ask her on the way out the door,
21:25
Speaker 4: and there are not, So Linda told me that there
21:27
Speaker 4: are not. They are not. Don't say that there couldn't be,
21:30
Speaker 4: but there aren't.
21:31
Speaker 2: Now Texas Davis Wildlife solely state funded or do they
21:35
Speaker 2: also take donations? If so, how could someone donates? Well,
21:40
Speaker 2: it's real simple. Just go to the Claudia L. Workman site.
21:43
Speaker 2: And again I don't have the site in front of me,
21:45
Speaker 2: and I'm not very good at multitasking, So just google
21:47
Speaker 2: Claudia L.
21:48
Speaker 4: Workman Wildlife Center and you will find it.
21:50
Speaker 2: And I believe that she said there is a tab
21:53
Speaker 2: on there that you can make donations, but they do
21:56
Speaker 2: one hundred percent except donations.
22:00
Speaker 4: Text says Dave.
22:02
Speaker 2: I think it's funny that Morrissey is going to investigate
22:05
Speaker 2: the school voucher program for wrongdoing. Where was he when
22:08
Speaker 2: he was the top law enforcement law enforcer. I'm sorry
22:11
Speaker 2: of West Virginia for years. Why didn't he do something?
22:14
Speaker 4: Then?
22:16
Speaker 7: Check?
22:16
Speaker 2: So I went to the Billy Strings show last night.
22:18
Speaker 2: I knew this was coming, by the way. It was
22:20
Speaker 2: a lot of fun and full of aromatic massage of
22:24
Speaker 2: weed smoke, but tuly. However, I'm disappointed with the city
22:28
Speaker 2: or whoever runs the civic center. The concrete cast of
22:31
Speaker 2: Taka's footprint denoting his final bow is buried in lee's
22:35
Speaker 2: and cigarette butts, and the hill above the footprint is
22:38
Speaker 2: more covered in weeds than the neglected rural state road.
22:41
Speaker 4: Uncle deserves better. So that's the Texter I saw.
22:44
Speaker 2: I was not at the Billy Strings show last night,
22:46
Speaker 2: but I'll tell you it's the biggest event, biggest concert
22:49
Speaker 2: at the Connal Seeman Convention Center that there's been in
22:51
Speaker 2: some time. Yesterday on the show, we had, first of all,
22:55
Speaker 2: I'm gonna call him musician. He is state Democratic Party
22:57
Speaker 2: chair and he's a delegate, but he's a musician before
22:59
Speaker 2: all those other things, or at least that's how he
23:01
Speaker 2: started in life. Mike Pushkin on the show yesterday or
23:04
Speaker 2: right around this time, and Pushkin tells me when he
23:06
Speaker 2: came in yesterday that people were setting up for the
23:08
Speaker 2: Billy Strings show on the Benny Keatam parking lot out there.
23:12
Speaker 2: It's almost like Pushkin's big dad head. I mean that
23:16
Speaker 2: as he follows the grateful Dad, not anything personal, and
23:21
Speaker 2: Billy Strings has sort of a following like that. He's bluegrass,
23:24
Speaker 2: but there's kind of a totally like alternative vibe to him.
23:28
Speaker 4: He's very interesting. He felt very, very talented, and.
23:31
Speaker 2: So the show was sold out at the Coliseeman Convention
23:33
Speaker 2: Center last night. Billy Strings himself got into town I
23:36
Speaker 2: think a couple of days ago Pushkin and I talked
23:38
Speaker 2: about he played at the at the Empty Glass and.
23:43
Speaker 4: Set in with people.
23:44
Speaker 2: I think Kathy Matteo was there from Mountain Stage Mountain
23:46
Speaker 2: Stage Band. So very personal guy from what I understand
23:49
Speaker 2: from people that got to meet and hang out with him.
23:51
Speaker 2: But the show last night itself, there were there were
23:55
Speaker 2: some issues getting people in the building, and I don't
23:58
Speaker 2: know exactly what those is shoes were, other than in fact,
24:02
Speaker 2: it didn't seem like the line was moving very quickly.
24:04
Speaker 2: And as I said, I wasn't there. My man Shockley
24:07
Speaker 2: from ninety eight to seven of the month and Wild,
24:08
Speaker 2: a wonderful classic rock though was there and he gave
24:11
Speaker 2: me a call last night and he said, in that
24:13
Speaker 2: Shockley way with all of his hair, dude, this was
24:17
Speaker 2: gonna come up on your show tomorrow.
24:19
Speaker 4: So he was telling me about it. Jack Carlson was
24:22
Speaker 4: in the newsroom.
24:22
Speaker 2: I think Shockley actually did an interview with Jack, and
24:24
Speaker 2: then I talked to some had another buddy, My buddy
24:28
Speaker 2: JD was there last night. Talked to him a little
24:30
Speaker 2: bit about a via text last night too. Again, I
24:32
Speaker 2: don't really know what the exact issue was other than
24:37
Speaker 2: a lot of people didn't get in from what I understand, again,
24:41
Speaker 2: I wasn't there, but a lot of people did not
24:42
Speaker 2: get into the venue until the show was well had
24:48
Speaker 2: already started, and it just seemed to be a little bit,
24:54
Speaker 2: I don't know, it seemed to be some sort of
24:56
Speaker 2: a breakdown somewhere. And I'm not gonna, you know, I'm
24:58
Speaker 2: not gonna throw shade because I don't know. I wasn't there,
25:01
Speaker 2: but there did seem to be some issues there. We
25:03
Speaker 2: actually wrote a story about it. It's a WCHS network
25:06
Speaker 2: dot com. But if you were there, you know what
25:08
Speaker 2: we are talking about.
25:10
Speaker 4: On this subject.
25:11
Speaker 2: Text says the lines weren't moving because security and Charleston
25:15
Speaker 2: police were checking all the dirty bluegrass hippies for that
25:18
Speaker 2: dang old reefer, says a Texter.
25:22
Speaker 4: I don't know if that was the case.
25:23
Speaker 2: I wasn't there, Like I said, I know that once
25:25
Speaker 2: the show got in there were no issues or anything
25:27
Speaker 2: like that. There were some people, from what I'm told,
25:29
Speaker 2: kind of upset trying to get into the venue, but
25:31
Speaker 2: everybody behaved themselves, which is always very important.
25:34
Speaker 4: So well, see what happened there?
25:38
Speaker 9: Text.
25:39
Speaker 2: I have noticed many Charleston parks and public places are
25:42
Speaker 2: intocrepit shape sitting on property looks really, really bad, and
25:45
Speaker 2: it's very noticeable, it says in a texture on the concert
25:49
Speaker 2: text says, and there was one entrance for everyone but
25:53
Speaker 2: VIPs and pitt passage, says a texture Texas, Dave, you
25:59
Speaker 2: have a short memory and a penchant for falling for
26:02
Speaker 2: right wing propaganda. The Republicans are the ones finally paying
26:06
Speaker 2: attention to rural communities. How about this seven hundred and
26:10
Speaker 2: eighty five million dollar investment in the Biden administration. I
26:13
Speaker 2: didn't say anything about Biden or Trump. I just said
26:15
Speaker 2: I'm glad to see there is attention being paid to
26:18
Speaker 2: rural communities. That's exactly what I said. I didn't mention
26:21
Speaker 2: a party, a political lean or anything. I just said,
26:25
Speaker 2: I'm glad to see there is more attention being played
26:28
Speaker 2: to rural communities. That's literally all I said speaking of
26:33
Speaker 2: the Benny Ketam Shrine as I was as folks asked
26:35
Speaker 2: me to announce this for them. They are going to
26:37

Speaker 2: America's Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Junior, the Davison
30:15
Speaker 2: Brothers Band, Del Noora, Motown Legends, The Voices of Classic Soul,
30:19
Speaker 2: feature members of The Temptations, the Four Tops, the Drifters,
30:22
Speaker 2: Mountain Stage Band, Corduroy Brown and more and again it
30:26
Speaker 2: is absolutely one hundred percent free and there's food, trucks, fireworks,
30:32
Speaker 2: going to be a great time. I'll be serving as
30:33
Speaker 2: the MC along with big brother Burke Allen, so looking
30:35
Speaker 2: forward to seeing you there. If you need more information,
30:37
Speaker 2: check out the Logan Regional Medical Center face point page.
30:40
Speaker 2: There is an organization doing some really good stuff. They
30:43
Speaker 2: are called Sleep In Heavenly Peace, and Ashley Saidoris is
30:47
Speaker 2: the volunteer coordinator with the group, and she joins me
30:49
Speaker 2: now on the Guarantee Bank hootline.
30:50
Speaker 4: Good morning and welcome to the show.
30:52
Speaker 7: Ashley, good morning, Thank you for having me on today.
30:55
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here talking about this program and
30:57
Speaker 2: give us the whole mission and the whole idea behind it.
31:00
Speaker 7: Yeah, So Sleepon Having the Piece is a five on
31:03
Speaker 7: three C nonprofit. We're dedicated to building beds and delivering
31:06
Speaker 7: beds for children who don't have one or Our mission
31:09
Speaker 7: is simple, no kids sleeps on the floor in our town.
31:12
Speaker 4: How did you get involved in this?
31:15
Speaker 15: So last last.
31:16
Speaker 7: Fall, me and my husband decided to become foster parents,
31:19
Speaker 7: so we got licensed and everything, and through that we
31:21
Speaker 7: kind of like figured out there's a need for bets.
31:26
Speaker 2: Okay, uh so uh for being beds for the kids
31:29
Speaker 2: because I mean, obviously, yeah, there's there's a major issue
31:31
Speaker 2: here with there's a major issue with foster care in general.
31:34
Speaker 2: We can talk about that at another time and may
31:36
Speaker 2: maybe have you talk about all the good things that
31:38
Speaker 2: you've seen there. But how how I mean you go
31:40
Speaker 2: from this idea to get the beds? How do you
31:41
Speaker 2: put the idea into play?
31:43
Speaker 7: So after that, my husband started doing some research and
31:46
Speaker 7: he came across the Jackson County Chapter. Jackson County has
31:50
Speaker 7: a chapter. They just started last August and they opened
31:54
Speaker 7: then and since then they have delivered over turnip beds
31:56
Speaker 7: in the Jackson County area.
31:58
Speaker 12: Wow.
31:58
Speaker 4: And that's in the Jackson County area alone.
32:00
Speaker 7: Right, yes, yes?
32:02
Speaker 4: And where do you get the beds?
32:05
Speaker 7: So we build the beds ourselves through the so for
32:08
Speaker 7: we're a nonprofit. When people donate, you know, they're donating
32:11
Speaker 7: for us to buy the woods, the screws, the nails,
32:15
Speaker 7: everything that goes into it to make these beds for
32:17
Speaker 7: the kids.
32:17
Speaker 2: So as somebody who doesn't know the first thing about
32:19
Speaker 2: building anything, including a bed, what kind of a process
32:22
Speaker 2: is that?
32:23
Speaker 7: It's a big process. But like whenever we have our buildings,
32:27
Speaker 7: you don't have to have any type of experience, Like
32:29
Speaker 7: we have a qure team members who we have trained
32:33
Speaker 7: and they know how to work the stations and they
32:34
Speaker 7: can tell you how to do the job. So you
32:36
Speaker 7: don't have to have any type of experience to be
32:38
Speaker 7: able to help build beds for these kids.
32:40
Speaker 2: Well, it sounds like a very worthwhile program, and we'll
32:43
Speaker 2: get that back to the program at the moment. But
32:44
Speaker 2: I don't want to get too personal here with you,
32:46
Speaker 2: but you said you and your husband made the decision
32:48
Speaker 2: to become foster parents.
32:49
Speaker 4: What went into that decision? If you don't mind my asking.
32:52
Speaker 7: Yeah, so that's fine. So we knew have a dog
32:55
Speaker 7: of her own, but we couldn't have any markets. So
32:57
Speaker 7: we decided that we wanted to boster because it's something
32:59
Speaker 7: that we had always talked about in our heart, was
33:01
Speaker 7: become a foster parents.
33:03
Speaker 2: And we all, you know, we talk about it on
33:06
Speaker 2: the air and we read about it about the issue
33:08
Speaker 2: with foster care in West Virginia, there's simply not enough
33:11
Speaker 2: people getting involved.
33:12
Speaker 4: There's all kinds of other issues. Again, I'm not going
33:14
Speaker 4: to make you get into all that.
33:15
Speaker 2: But what talk about the rewarding parts for you and
33:18
Speaker 2: your husband being foster parents?
33:21
Speaker 7: I mean, is a rewarding thing. Trying to help these
33:23
Speaker 7: kids have a better life and like learning, like, it's
33:26
Speaker 7: just heartbreaking here all these different kids and the trauma
33:30
Speaker 7: and different things that they have been through in experience.
33:32
Speaker 7: It just would break your heart to you to know
33:34
Speaker 7: what kids go through.
33:35
Speaker 2: I mean, kids that are in this system, Ashley, they
33:39
Speaker 2: go through things that most of us can't even imagine.
33:42
Speaker 4: I mean really, I mean, and look, there.
33:45
Speaker 2: Was I had an opportunity at an event a couple
33:48
Speaker 2: of years ago to listen to someone speaking about doing
33:52
Speaker 2: something similar like what you're doing with They were just
33:54
Speaker 2: providing things like suitcases for kids in the foster care
33:58
Speaker 2: system because many of them get moved around so much
34:01
Speaker 2: and they don't even have a dignified place to carry
34:04
Speaker 2: their stuff from one place to the other. And they
34:06
Speaker 2: were this particular organization was trying to get people to
34:09
Speaker 2: donate older suitcases, backpacks or whatever. That they didn't need
34:13
Speaker 2: or want anymore. So at least when these kids are
34:15
Speaker 2: going from place to place at night, they're not carrying
34:17
Speaker 2: their stuff in a garbage bag.
34:19
Speaker 7: Yeah, so a lot that is true. A lot of
34:21
Speaker 7: them do just come with nothing just to close on
34:24
Speaker 7: their back.
34:25
Speaker 2: And so let's talk about how the public can get involved.
34:29
Speaker 2: I said, you know, not as you said, not everybody
34:31
Speaker 2: can build a bed, but talk about how the public,
34:34
Speaker 2: if people want to get involved in this.
34:35
Speaker 4: How can they do that?
34:37
Speaker 7: Yes? Sorry, some said one another thing? First, to help
34:39
Speaker 7: all kids, so we help. We're going to help all kids,
34:41
Speaker 7: you know, I just was talking about this is how
34:43
Speaker 7: we got sorry, was because of ups care, and that's
34:45
Speaker 7: one way.
34:45
Speaker 12: We're going to help.
34:46
Speaker 7: But whenever you give the kids the beds or for
34:49
Speaker 7: ages three to seventeen, it's just whenever. Once you're open
34:53
Speaker 7: for applications. So we have to have forty beds in
34:56
Speaker 7: inventory before we get open for any applications. So hoping
34:59
Speaker 7: after our big build the Bunks across America, which would
35:02
Speaker 7: be our first public event, that will have the forty
35:04
Speaker 7: best sponsor. Right now we have fourteen, so we need
35:07
Speaker 7: twenty six more bed sponsors. It's two fifty a bed
35:11
Speaker 7: that includes the wood, the hardware for the bed, the
35:16
Speaker 7: betting itself, a pillow, and the mattress and all of
35:20
Speaker 7: that's included. So whenever we deliver these beds, the kids
35:22
Speaker 7: are set up and ready for the night. Wherever they
35:25
Speaker 7: go to sleep, they have everything will need.
35:27
Speaker 2: And when you talk about the donations, I mean you're
35:29
Speaker 2: looking for businesses, for individuals, anybody that can.
35:33
Speaker 7: Get there running, anybody that wants to help. Yeah, anybody
35:35
Speaker 7: that wants to help. I mean, you know, if if
35:38
Speaker 7: you can't donate, you know, money, if you if a
35:40
Speaker 7: business would like to do like a betting drive and
35:43
Speaker 7: get new twin betting and pillows, they can do that.
35:47
Speaker 7: Just anyway, even just spread the word just helps trying
35:50
Speaker 7: to get the world there as much as possible to
35:51
Speaker 7: what we can get to people who can help financially
35:54
Speaker 7: if they can.
35:55
Speaker 2: And you talked about the chapter in Jackson County. What
35:58
Speaker 2: other areas in the state.
36:00
Speaker 4: Do you work in?
36:01
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we're also in Dodgridge, the Eastern Panhandle, Harrison, Monroe, Mongolia,
36:07
Speaker 7: and Potomacallands.
36:09
Speaker 4: Okay, so any more like up.
36:11
Speaker 7: Up like where the closest chapters around here US in Jackson.
36:14
Speaker 4: County are us meaning Kanon County?
36:17
Speaker 2: Yes, okay, Okay, I want to make sure that we
36:19
Speaker 2: get that in there that you are in Kanan County.
36:21
Speaker 4: All that's fine?
36:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, and it really knows no borders. I mean
36:24
Speaker 2: as far as helping kids, right, I mean you may
36:26
Speaker 2: be just those so you.
36:27
Speaker 7: Can only we only service Knaal County. Okay, serve Jackson County.
36:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, I meant you do.
36:32
Speaker 2: But I mean the organization as a whole will will
36:35
Speaker 2: will help out any of these areas. And again you're
36:38
Speaker 2: primarily focused on Kanagh County.
36:40
Speaker 4: All right.
36:40
Speaker 2: Tell people again how they can get involved. If they
36:42
Speaker 2: want to be one of those businesses that does a
36:44
Speaker 2: drive where you know they're going to spend donate so
36:47
Speaker 2: much of their proceeds for a particular evening or an
36:49
Speaker 2: afternoon to the cause, or they want to host an event,
36:52
Speaker 2: how can people get involved?
36:54
Speaker 7: Yeah, So, like I said, you can sponsor bad We
36:58
Speaker 7: have a Bunkheads club where you can joined twenty five
37:00
Speaker 7: for twenty five dollars a month each month and after
37:04
Speaker 7: a year that adds up to each hundred and fifty dollars,
37:06
Speaker 7: so you're basically playing for a bed ear.
37:09
Speaker 4: All right, and you can come to go ahead right, No, no,
37:12
Speaker 4: you go ahead.
37:13
Speaker 2: I'm just gonna have you give you an opportunity to
37:14
Speaker 2: give out the social media website whatever you got.
37:17
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we if you have Facebook, you can you
37:20
Speaker 7: look for Saxpeak and all County. Then we also if
37:22
Speaker 7: you go to Duck. I'm sorry, SHP beds. The ORC
37:25
Speaker 7: is the main website, but we use our social media
37:28
Speaker 7: and we used to use Facebook. We post daily.
37:30
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, well it sounds like a great program.
37:33
Speaker 2: And again, uh, when when I was first approach about
37:35
Speaker 2: having you guys on the air, I was like, what
37:37
Speaker 2: what is this? And so I had to like look
37:39
Speaker 2: into it. And you and your husband and others are
37:42
Speaker 2: to be commended for doing what you do for the
37:44
Speaker 2: foster care kids. And I love the motto no kid
37:47
Speaker 2: sleeps on the floor. I love that. That is a
37:49
Speaker 2: great motto Ashley.
37:50
Speaker 4: It really is.
37:52
Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it really is a great mono because a
37:54
Speaker 7: lot of these we've had people trying to call us
37:57
Speaker 7: and eat for this email. So you know, I need
37:59
Speaker 7: a bed today. The stories that you would hear from
38:01
Speaker 7: that would really keep you up at and make you order.
38:03
Speaker 2: Cry your eyes out, all right, well, hopefully we can
38:06
Speaker 2: you you guys can keep doing good things out there
38:08
Speaker 2: here in Kanawha County of course, one of the other
38:10
Speaker 2: chapters around the state and around the country as well.
38:12
Speaker 4: Ashley, I appreciate you being here.
38:13
Speaker 7: Thanks a lot, Thank you.
38:15
Speaker 2: Ashley sodoris again a volunteer coordinator with the group, and
38:19
Speaker 2: it's called Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
38:22
Speaker 4: I like the name. I like the name, and again
38:23
Speaker 4: you can give more information on their Facebook page website.
38:26
Speaker 4: Just google it.
38:27

38:52
Speaker 2: Investing in rural communities the forty four somebody want to
38:55
Speaker 2: remind me the forty four billion dollars the Biden administration
38:58
Speaker 2: invested in rural communities through the Infrastrate Ructure Act and
39:00
Speaker 2: the Inflation Reduction Act. Again, I didn't say aside either way.
39:04
Speaker 2: I just said I'm glad that more money is being
39:07
Speaker 2: invested in rural communities.
39:09
Speaker 4: I do appreciate that.
39:11
Speaker 2: Texays do more people live rurally than urbanly or was
39:15
Speaker 2: that just for West Virginia. Hard to believe there's more
39:17
Speaker 2: rural people, especially if you consider suburban people part of
39:20
Speaker 2: the urban groupment. I don't know when I made that state,
39:23
Speaker 2: but I was more or less thinking about West Virginia
39:25
Speaker 2: on the nationwide I don't I would have to do
39:27
Speaker 2: the research on it, but I would think that you're
39:29
Speaker 2: probably right, especially if you consider the suburbs around America
39:34
Speaker 2: in larger cities, think Charlotte, you know, Chicago, New York,
39:38
Speaker 2: LA That if you count those suburbs, and yeah, I
39:40
Speaker 2: think so. But I think here in West Virginia. I
39:42
Speaker 2: have always said, with all due respect to the capital city,
39:45
Speaker 2: which is where I do this show, or Morgantown or
39:47
Speaker 2: Huntington or Martinsburg or Wheeling, what we think of big
39:50
Speaker 2: cities in West Virginia, there's a whole lot more Dodbridge
39:54
Speaker 2: counties there's a whole lot more mineral counties, a whole
39:57
Speaker 2: lot more McDowell counties than there are those.
39:59
Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just antidotal evidence.
40:03
Speaker 2: Hey, we're getting ready for the Painted Capital City Green event.
40:06
Speaker 2: It is going to be Thursday, August the twenty seventh
40:08
Speaker 2: at the bill No Flight School, West Virginia International, Yega Airport.
40:11
Speaker 2: It will start at six o'clock. Head football coach Tony
40:14
Speaker 2: Gibson's going to be there. Corny Jackson, the basketball coach,
40:16
Speaker 2: Julie Falkes, the athletic director, Gerald Harrison, other coaches, and
40:21
Speaker 2: my guy, the voice of the Thundering Herd, Steve Cotton,
40:24
Speaker 2: is going to be there as well. And the reason
40:26
Speaker 2: that Cotton is there, in addition to just being a
40:29
Speaker 2: genuinely good guy and much like me, because he'd never
40:31
Speaker 2: met a buffet he didn't like. Cotton is going to
40:34
Speaker 2: be there to do sort of a roundtable discussion with
40:38
Speaker 2: some of the athletes and some of the coaches. Steve
40:40
Speaker 2: Animal ninety eight seven a month and Wild a wonderful
40:42
Speaker 2: classic rock and I will serve as the overall MC's
40:45
Speaker 2: but Cotton comes in and handles a lot of the
40:48
Speaker 2: exes and notes, taking questions from the audience and things
40:50
Speaker 2: that it's really it's just a great, great event. And
40:53
Speaker 2: again all the proceeds benefit the Big Green. And let
40:56
Speaker 2: me tell you, this thing's not to August twenty seventh.
40:59
Speaker 4: It every year.
41:00
Speaker 2: I mean, it sells out every year. So if you
41:03

44:25
Speaker 2: TJ writes about it, and you can read it for
44:27
Speaker 2: yourself if you didn't hear it on the air this
44:28
Speaker 2: morning at wv Metronews dot com. I'm sure he's got
44:31
Speaker 2: it posted on his social media as well and as
44:34
Speaker 2: well as ours. TJ is going to join us to
44:37
Speaker 2: talk about that. All I can think of and this
44:40
Speaker 2: whole deal is I got to get me some kids
44:45
Speaker 2: so I can use a voucher to buy beer and cigarettes,
44:48
Speaker 2: although I don't smoke, but apparently it's a thing being discussed.
44:53
Speaker 2: So Governor came out with the statement about it. I
44:57
Speaker 2: don't know that it helped a lot in the statement,
44:59
Speaker 2: and now other people are questioning that, and so yeah.
45:02
Speaker 2: In the meantime, the parents just trying to get their kids,
45:05
Speaker 2: I guess ready for school. Also on the show today.
45:08
Speaker 2: We had trouble linking up with him yesterday, but Attorney
45:10
Speaker 2: Steve Knew is going to join us on the show today.
45:12
Speaker 2: Now you've heard this story by now, the five for
45:14
Speaker 2: five rule that may lead to some college athletes getting
45:18
Speaker 2: extra playing time. Attorney Steve Knew representing some of those players,
45:22
Speaker 2: including some at Marshall. This is a national story that's
45:25
Speaker 2: actually this ruling actually came out of Colorado. But Steve
45:29
Speaker 2: Knew from here in West Virginia, is representing some of
45:32
Speaker 2: the athletes, including some of the ones at Marshall. And
45:34
Speaker 2: so he's going to join us on the show. As
45:36
Speaker 2: I said yesterday, we had him schedule, but he's also
45:38
Speaker 2: involved in a trial out of state right now. So
45:40
Speaker 2: when the judge comes out and says we need you
45:43
Speaker 2: in here, we understand because I don't want to get
45:45
Speaker 2: thrown in contempt.
45:46
Speaker 4: I'll send Amanda for contempt of court, but I don't
45:48
Speaker 4: want to get thrown in there.
45:49
Speaker 2: But anyway, Steve's going to be on the show today
45:51
Speaker 2: and we're also going to introduce you to another wonderful
45:53
Speaker 2: West Virginia, as we do every Wednesday at one of six.
45:56
Speaker 2: Are you familiar with the Patriot Games, Well, we're going

Speaker 2: officially is withdrawn from the general election, basically shutting out
48:34
Speaker 2: a Republican from filing. Jeff Jenkins with the story at
48:38
Speaker 2: the website. So now the governor can appoint someone to
48:41
Speaker 2: the position fill out that term that was left by
48:45
Speaker 2: Elliot Pritt and the Fayette County Executive Committee. Of course,
48:49
Speaker 2: you know the way this works, will submit three names
48:52
Speaker 2: of the governor. He will make his choice. Wilson Meadows
48:55
Speaker 2: will get into that a little bit more coming up
48:57
Speaker 2: on the show. Speaking of mister Meadows, how's it going, man.
49:01
Speaker 4: Hey, buddy, how are you.
49:02
Speaker 2: I've missed our little interchanges here because recently you've been
49:04
Speaker 2: so busy, you know that You've come in like the
49:07
Speaker 2: last second and I said, hey, these guys are coming up,
49:09
Speaker 2: and that's it.
49:09
Speaker 14: Yeah, I got here a little early today. I felt
49:11
Speaker 14: I've been neglecting you, and for that I apologize it.
49:13
Speaker 4: Well, I appreciate that. Well, you know you're important to me.
49:16
Speaker 2: Well, and you know, ever since I went through the
49:18
Speaker 2: cancer thing, man, and they're giving me you know, they
49:20
Speaker 2: gave me the shots that you know, lower testosterone. I'm
49:23
Speaker 2: just feeling a little neglected and plus I have hot flash.
49:26
Speaker 14: Can they give you the shots that boost testosterone.
49:28
Speaker 4: It goes both ways. Yeah, not yet. Can't yeh, can't
49:31
Speaker 4: do that. You gotta wait, that's what they tell them.
49:32
Speaker 4: Can't make it happen with that quickly. Not yet, No,
49:35
Speaker 4: they gotta wait. It's a waiting process.
49:36
Speaker 14: Are you feeling good though? If you are, you're starting
49:38
Speaker 14: to feel better.
49:39
Speaker 2: I never felt bad. Yeah, this is the thing that
49:41
Speaker 2: never felt bad. I didn't even know I had it
49:43
Speaker 2: until I went to the doctor and they told me.
49:45
Speaker 6: So.
49:45
Speaker 14: It's your screening, right, that's the message.
49:46
Speaker 4: That's the message, your screening, all right? So, uh man,
49:51
Speaker 4: what was I going to ask you while you're here?
49:52
Speaker 6: Oh?
49:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, elliot Pritt.
49:55
Speaker 14: I'm candidly surprised he didn't withdraw from the election the
49:59
Speaker 14: same day that he resigned from the House.
50:01
Speaker 4: Any idea why or maybe just you know, difficult to tell.
50:06
Speaker 4: A lot going on.
50:08
Speaker 14: He's being represented by a federal public defender, is my understanding,
50:12
Speaker 14: who may not have had that top of mind. He
50:16
Speaker 14: is obviously in a jail in Kentucky, doesn't get all
50:20
Speaker 14: of the news. Had to have a notarized letter to
50:23
Speaker 14: be able to withdraw. Maybe that had something to do
50:25
Speaker 14: with it.
50:25
Speaker 12: I don't know.
50:26
Speaker 4: I don't know.
50:27
Speaker 14: But he's off the ballot. We move forward, we'll see
50:30
Speaker 14: what happens. There are a couple of independence renting in
50:34
Speaker 14: that way, so I'm told we'll see if Republicans fur
50:38
Speaker 14: their support behind one of those independents. I think that
50:40
Speaker 14: would probably be the next logical play if you're a Republican,
50:43
Speaker 14: or you could do what I've said all along, leave
50:44
Speaker 14: it alone. One seat isn't worth the potential downfall in my.
50:50
Speaker 4: Texas.
50:51
Speaker 2: Doesn't Charleston have more people than mcdowll County? Yes, you
50:53
Speaker 2: probably didn't get to hear this I was talking earlier.
50:55
Speaker 2: My assertion has always been there's a lot more rural
50:57
Speaker 2: areas in the state than there are big cities. Charleston, Huntington,
51:00
Speaker 2: Morgan Town. Yes, McDowell. I actually did the math. I
51:02
Speaker 2: forgot to get into it. Charleston in the city of
51:05
Speaker 2: Charleston has significantly more people than McDowell County. My point
51:07
Speaker 2: wasn't about specific cities as much as it was there's
51:10
Speaker 2: a lot of rural areas in.
51:12
Speaker 14: Western oh Absolutely, a lot of different topographies, a lot
51:14
Speaker 14: of different situations.
51:15
Speaker 4: Lot the deal, all right, manage Meadows and Wilson coming
51:18
Speaker 4: up a talk line ten O six.
51:19
