One Year In, The Epstein Inquiry Still Has More Questions Than Answers (7/8/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Epstein Chronicles. One of the major issues that people are
• 0:08
concerned with when it comes to the commission that's looking
• 0:12
into Epstein's crimes is the fact that the commission itself
• 0:16
has no teeth, and now that we're a year on,
• 0:21
there really hasn't been much movement, and unfortunately, it looks
• 0:25
like everything I thought that was going to happen is happening.
• 0:28
The whole entire idea of the committee was to control
• 0:32
that blast radius. They never wanted to get close to
• 0:35
the truth. That was never the goal. They wanted to
• 0:38
do enough that they can come back to you and say, look,
• 0:40
we did our best. This stuff is still buried, it's
• 0:43
still hidden, and we're just never going to get to
• 0:45
the bottom of it. That was the plan, and the
• 0:50
discharge petition threw chaos into that plan, and we now
• 0:55
know that it left them scrambling so much to the
• 0:57
point that they had high level meetings at the White House.
• 1:01
So you know, they were panicking behind the scenes, and
• 1:04
they should have been. But of course now comes the distractions,
• 1:09
and the biggest distraction, obviously was the war in Iran,
• 1:14
and I have to tell you, it did its job
• 1:16
because the vast majority of people they pivoted. Right, there's
• 1:21
a war. People are gonna follow that. There's a lot
• 1:23
going on. You have the Israeli issue, just a whole
• 1:26
lot going on. So of course people are gonna tune in.
• 1:29
They're gonna look at what's going on in the war.
• 1:31
They're gonna look at this, that the other thing. And
• 1:34
that's what they've always counted on. Exhaustion and people being
• 1:38
so confused and tired by this topic that they just
• 1:41
keep it moving. And look, I understand this topic is
• 1:46
not for the fantom heart. It's depressing, it's not fun,
• 1:50
and frankly, there's nothing enjoyable about it. But I feel
• 1:53
like this conversation has to happen after all these years
• 1:56
and all these failures, I think we owe that to
• 1:59
the survivor. Today's article is from the National Post and
• 2:03
the headline one year in Epstein inquiry has found few answers.
• 2:08
One year try about four decades. This article was authored
• 2:13
by Swakar Ali. As the US House Oversight Committee's inquiry
• 2:19
and the Jeffrey Epstein approaches its one year mark, the
• 2:22
witness list has included some of the highest profile figures
• 2:25
ever to appear before the panel, and they were all
• 2:29
there voluntarily. Nobody showed up there with any kind of
• 2:34
threat of actually being in trouble, and that was all
• 2:38
part of it. Billionaire moguls, members of Epstein's inner circle,
• 2:42
and the former US President have been among the dozen
• 2:45
plus witnesses Olive saw to distance themselves from the deceased
• 2:49
sex defenders crimes. None have had much to say to
• 2:53
help lawmakers bring charges against any wrongdoers. Yeah, because they're
• 2:56
the wrongdoers themselves. Breaking news. People aren't on themselves, not
• 3:02
unless you threaten them with serious jail time. And wouldn't
• 3:05
it be nice if the government had a tool to
• 3:06
do that? Oh wait, they do, they chose not to
• 3:09
use it. Imagine going after Jeffrey Epstein in any regard
• 3:13
and not using RICO tell me the fix is in
• 3:16
without telling me. In the UK, ties to Epstein caused
• 3:20
the leadership crisis, led to the former Prince Andrew losing
• 3:23
his honors and princely title, and triggered police investigations and
• 3:27
Andrew getting arrested. Kind of significant senior officials in Norway, Sweden,
• 3:32
France and Slovakia have all faced a reckoning for their
• 3:35
associations with the disgraced financier. In the US, prominent figures
• 3:40
have been forced to resign, while some have been grilled
• 3:43
by lawmakers. Oh grilled is it more like praised? Oh
• 3:50
he answered all the questions. Oh he's such a nice guy,
• 3:53
Bill Gates. Thank you for all of your philanthropic work.
• 3:56
Thank you for helping people with vaccines. I don't give
• 3:59
a fuck about any of that. If you want the truth,
• 4:02
I have one question, and one question only, Why were
• 4:05
you associating with Jeffrey Epstein? And I want the truth?
• 4:08
Now your bullshit answer. I want the truth. What were
• 4:11
you guys doing together? And if you tell me philanthropy,
• 4:14
I'm going to tell you you're a liar? How about that?
• 4:18
But a group of Epstein's survivors say the truth is
• 4:21
still hiding. They have criticized committee interviews for having largely
• 4:25
been voluntary and not under oath. Well, who does that
• 4:28
sound like? Almost like me and the survivors are on
• 4:31
the same page. Huh. Billionaire investor Leon Black took a
• 4:36
stance shared by many of the witnesses when he said
• 4:39
at his closed door testimony, I knew jekyl I didn't
• 4:42
know hyde did they all get together to come up
• 4:44
with that defense that line? Leon Black and Leslie Groff
• 4:47
both used it. Look, I have a lot of doubts
• 4:51
about what's going on here, and I certainly have a
• 4:53
lot of doubts about the people that are in charge
• 4:56
of the whole process on both sides of the aisle.
• 5:00
Like people who can play they're politics all they want.
• 5:03
I'm so far away from that and so removed from
• 5:06
that that I don't even care if people want to
• 5:09
run around and think they're a party. Gives a fuck
• 5:12
about them? Cool, great, have about it. There is nothing
• 5:15
I can say that's going to change someone's mind. So
• 5:18
for me, all I care about is that we agree
• 5:21
about this topic here. We can have our disagreements later on,
• 5:26
but about this topic, I don't give a shit what
• 5:29
side of the political aisle you're on. I really don't
• 5:32
care what your beliefs are. As long as you want
• 5:34
justice and you want the people who are responsible for
• 5:37
this held accountable, And if that's you, then we're allies
• 5:41
at least right now. Later on down the road, well
• 5:45
we can discuss what we don't agree on, But for
• 5:47
right now, on this topic, I think we should all
• 5:50
agree that these powerful people should be held accountable. And
• 5:54
I think that most Democrats and Republicans and anything in
• 5:57
between shares that view. Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution
• 6:04
from a minor in two thousand and eight and spent
• 6:06
thirteen months in jail. He died in August of twenty
• 6:09
nineteen in a Manhattan jail cell, a month after being
• 6:12
indicted on federal sex trafficking charges. Black, the co founder
• 6:16
and former CEO of Apollo Global Management, had paid Epstein
• 6:20
more than one hundred and fifty million from twenty twelve
• 6:23
to twenty seventeen. The private equity firm commissioned a report
• 6:27
that found the payments were for bona fide tax, estate
• 6:31
planning and other related services one hundred and fifty million dollars.
• 6:36
Here's an idea, just pay your taxes. I know, crazy idea,
• 6:41
mister rich guy Lean Black got to get an extra penny.
• 6:44
Got to make sure he has an extra dollar. If
• 6:48
you haven't figured it out yet, I'm disgusted by all
• 6:51
of them, and I've had enough. I've literally had enough.
• 6:56
Republican Chairman James Comer full reporters Black cut the meeting
• 6:59
short after being asked about the non disclosure agreements he
• 7:02
had signed with women. Of course he did. He's a coward,
• 7:05
he's a chump, and he's a pussy. The NDAs are
• 7:10
between him and other women. Comer told reporters after Black
• 7:13
walked out about an hour into the voluntary interview. We
• 7:16
want to know was Jeffrey Epstein involved in the NDAs?
• 7:19
Was he involved in writing? Was he involved in awarding
• 7:22
funds to the women for the NDAs? What was the
• 7:25
reason for the NDAs? What was he involved in intimidating
• 7:28
guzel Ganieva? Did he reach out to the FSB to
• 7:32
have people in Russia presser and flex honor? Yeah, he
• 7:35
most certainly did. We saw the email, So what the
• 7:37
fuck are we talking about here? Black was issued to
• 7:41
subpoenas for him to appear at another hearing, which will
• 7:44
be held under oath on July sixteenth, and to divulge
• 7:48
information about any NDAs. Look, I hate to throw some
• 7:52
rain on the parade here, but I have my doubts
• 7:55
that we're going to get the truth from Leon Black.
• 7:58
Do you really think a guy like Leon Blae is
• 8:01
in scheming and conniving behind the scenes, right? Now. Oh,
• 8:04
he most certainly is Richard Kahn, who worked as Epstein's
• 8:09
acountant for more than a decade, testified in March that
• 8:12
he received money from Black, along with billionaire retailer Les Wexner,
• 8:17
Hedge von Magnate, Glenn Dubin, former Microsoft executive Steven Sinofsky,
• 8:21
and members of the prominent Rothchild family. Comerce said Wexner,
• 8:26
who was alleged to be behind much of Epstein's wealth.
• 8:28
Pole Committee members in February, Epstein was a con man
• 8:32
who duped them out of millions of dollars. Oh, you
• 8:35
mean the conversation that the Republicans didn't bother having. That's
• 8:38
I'm never gonna let that down. I'm never gonna let
• 8:40
it die, and I'm never gonna let them off the hook.
• 8:43
How don't you go and talk to Les Wexner when
• 8:45
you say you're serious about justice. It is so absurd
• 8:50
that it's hard to wrap my mind around. Democratic Congressman
• 8:54
Suhas Submaranium described Cohn as a fixer who played a
• 8:57
central role in Epstein's financial activity. He made payments for
• 9:01
tuition and to girls directly, and his name appeared on
• 9:04
shell companies used to channel Epstein's money Submarannium noted con
• 9:09
said in prepared remarks shared with the media that he
• 9:12
was not aware of the terrible and unforgivable things that
• 9:15
he did to women and girls. Nah had no idea.
• 9:20
I was just around for all of it, paying these
• 9:21
girls off. But I saw nothing. I did nothing. How
• 9:25
dare you even question me? Today? We heard from mister
• 9:29
Kahn a lot of inability to recall, inability to recall emails,
• 9:33
text messages he was involved in. Democratic Representative James Walkinshaw
• 9:37
said if he was ignorant of mister Epstein's crimes, he
• 9:41
was wilfully ignorant. Well, I can agree with that. Not
• 9:44
a lot I agree with with mister Walkinshaw, but I
• 9:47
agree with that if you say you're ignorant here, it's wolful. Sorry,
• 9:52
nobody could be around this dude like they were and
• 9:54
not know. The congressional probe was spurred by public pressure
• 9:59
and appeals from surviv over the US Department of Justice
• 10:02
handling of the case against Epstein and does associate Glenn Maxwell.
• 10:07
Maxwell is the only other person besides Epstein to be
• 10:10
charged by the Justice Department. She's serving a twenty year
• 10:13
sentence for her role in recruiting some of the underage
• 10:16
victims abused by Epstein. She should be under the prison,
• 10:20
by the way, not a Camp Brian under the prison.
• 10:24
The Justice Department review into the Epstein investigation concluded last
• 10:28
year that it did not uncover evidence that would predicate
• 10:31
an investigation against uncharged third parties. The same memo also
• 10:36
noted that Epstein had harmed over one thousand victims. Being
• 10:41
associated with Epstein does not imply criminal culpability. The Department
• 10:44
has said, yeah, what if you got money from him
• 10:48
while he was running a criminal enterprise? That kind of
• 10:51
makes things marqino. While the interviews have fallen short of
• 10:56
uncovering criminal activity, they have revealed damaging information about power
• 11:00
for men. Bill Gates admitted that he had three affairs,
• 11:04
including one with a Russian bridge player and another Russian
• 11:07
nuclear physicist, that Epstein became aware of. Based on emails
• 11:11
released in June, Epstein may have been considering waste of
• 11:14
blackmailum Gates told the committee, well, that definitely tracks. And
• 11:18
for all the people out there who think that Epstein
• 11:21
was not blackmailing people, he most certainly was. Maybe not
• 11:25
to the level some people say, but don't think for
• 11:27
a minute he wasn't collecting Compromont and dossier's he was.
• 11:33
Milinda French Gates has said her husband's affairs and associations
• 11:36
with Epstein contributed to her seeking to end their twenty
• 11:40
seven year marriage. Meanwhile, a prominent member or members of
• 11:44
US President Donald Trump's second administration have also been called
• 11:48
before the committee. Pam Bondy, who was ousted as Attorney
• 11:51
General in April, told lawmakers that the release of the
• 11:54
files was under the purview of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
• 11:59
Has there ever been a bigger failure as an Attorney
• 12:01
General than Todd Blanche. This dude is an absolute clown,
• 12:07
not qualified, and certainly not somebody that should be in
• 12:10
that position. During the questioning, Miss Bondi invoked mister Blanche's
• 12:15
name more than thirty times, pointing to him as the
• 12:17
person responsible for the DJ's actions involving the review withholding
• 12:22
and boch release of Epstein related records. Garcia said, well,
• 12:26
that's true, throw them right under the bus, and that's
• 12:30
right on brand for Pam Bondy. For his part, Blanche
• 12:34
briefed the committee in March, but has since been called
• 12:36
on by survivors to testify under oath. A New York
• 12:40
Times investigation revealed that Blanche was in the situation room
• 12:43
with Trump and other administration officials to discuss how to
• 12:47
contain the political fallout from the release of the Epstein files. Trump,
• 12:52
whose name appears thousands of times in the files, has
• 12:55
not been accused of criminal misconduct. Well, let's start talking
• 12:59
about cover up. Then there might be some problems. Survivors
• 13:05
released a joint statement that said they were deeply disturbed
• 13:07
by the Times report and came out against Blanche's nomination
• 13:11
as Trump's permanent attorney General. Blanche failed to deliver transparency,
• 13:16
and he has gravely failed survivors, they wrote. US Commerce
• 13:20
Secretary Howard Lutnik, who was Epstein's next door neighbor in
• 13:24
New York, testified May that he had met him three times,
• 13:28
once during a tour of Epstein's house with his wife
• 13:31
in two thousand and five, another brief conversation about scaffolding
• 13:34
on their property, and the meeting with Lutnick's family on
• 13:38
Epstein's private island for lunch in twenty twelve. He denied
• 13:42
having any close relationship with Epstein. The testimony was criticized
• 13:47
for being voluntary and not under oath of all the
• 13:50
issues where you let people come in voluntarily, this is it.
• 13:54
I mean, come on, they've never told the truth. What
• 13:56
makes you think they're going to tell the truth now
• 13:58
that you're letting them come in entirely. Bill Clinton, who's
• 14:03
well documented relationship with Epstein went back more than two decades,
• 14:06
was sworn in. He said his relationship with Epstein ended
• 14:10
in two thousand and three after he learned that Epstein
• 14:12
didn't seem interested in his global health initiatives. Was that
• 14:16
before or after he donated to your initiative, mister Clinton?
• 14:20
And if you think for a minute, I believe what
• 14:22
Clinton said, I don't. He perjured himself, him and his
• 14:25
wife both. If he had been aware of Epstein committing
• 14:31
any crimes, I would have turned him in myself, Clinton said.
• 14:35
Last week during testimony, Doug Band, a longtime Clinton made,
• 14:38
contradicted a previous statement to Vanity Fair that Clinton had
• 14:42
visited Epstein's island. Lawmakers noted, well, what about Virginia. I
• 14:47
believe what she said. That's it, that's the whole statement.
• 14:51
And she said that she saw Bill Clinton on the
• 14:53
island do with that as you will. Emails exchange between
• 14:58
Band and Maxwell in the early two thousands included pet
• 15:00
names such as baby cakes and Booboo. The Epstein files
• 15:03
have revealed. Banned reportedly said he had taken steps to
• 15:07
take Clinton out of Maxwell and Epstein's orbit. The former
• 15:11
Prince Andrew and Trump, whose names appear in the file
• 15:14
thousands of times, should also appear before the committee, survivors
• 15:17
have said. Following closed door meetings with survivors in June,
• 15:21
Comer has said he will also call Alan Dershowitz to testify. Look,
• 15:27
everybody should be called in, and everybody should be sworn in.
• 15:31
None of this should be on a voluntary basis. That
• 15:34
should have never even been an option, but unfortunately it was.
• 15:38
And when you're dealing with something like this that's been
• 15:40
buried in secrecy, it makes people wonder. And I think
• 15:44
people are right to wonder, because if you want to
• 15:47
be trusted, you have to be trustworthy, and this committee
• 15:52
is anything but. All the information that goes with this
• 15:56
episode can be found in the description box.
