- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: Are you preaching time a message from Dr. Paul Levine from all the way back in 1979?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: You see, our founder, Dr. Paul, as he was known affectionately, he started preaching in his tender years back in the 1920s, 1930s or thereabouts.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: He was known as the boy of Angeless.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: and he stayed faithful so long and stayed in the saddle as a preacher as an evangelist for over 60 years, and he was known then as the dean of evangelists.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: When he went home to be with Lord in 1996.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: I tell you that because before we jump into the continuation of this message titled, Peter in the sifter, Peter in the sifter from 1979, I have something special to tell you about.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: And, by the way, if you have missed any previous editions of this broadcast, you can always find the archived versions on our website or on your favorite podcast player, just search for Bible Tract Echoes.

- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: We've been carrying on since Dr. Paul Levine passed in 1996.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: I did not take over immediately after I've only been here for over half a decade now, but how God has blessed speaking of Dr. Paul Levine.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm holding in my hand right now a Bible that belong to Dr. Paul Levine.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: You can tell that it's a Warren Bible, you can tell that it's a well-used Bible.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: And it's my privilege today to share just a thought.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe we might make a series out of bringing to life some quotes from inside this old black book from many years ago.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Today, I was thumbing through it in this quote, caught my eye.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: It says this, an excellent rule in studying the Bible.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if this is original to Dr. Paul or not, but it says this.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: an excellent rule in studying the Bible.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, admit to Submit 3, commit and 4, transmit.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not all because next to number one, admit.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: It says admit that it is God's word to you.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: We all need to admit that the Bible is God's words to us.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Number two, submit to its teachings.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: And that's my prayer for you today as we dive into the preaching time that you will submit to the truth of God's word brought to you by Dr. Paul.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Number three, commit it to memory.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Could you, if I put you on a spot, if I put this microphone in front of your face and said,
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: a Bible verse that you've committed to memory.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, would you stumble?
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Would you stammer?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Or would you have to rely on John 1135 that two word of verse Jesus wept?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that's not the case for you today.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: So number one admit that it's God's word you two submit to it's teaching three, commit it to memory, number four, transmit it to others.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: And lastly, this then, it's wonderful power and death will soon be manifest.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for tuning in today.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you'll stick around for the entirety of the broadcast.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe in future days, we'll bring to life some more quotes and some more notes from inside these well-worn pages of one of Dr. Paul Levine's old Bible
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're jumping right back into a message from Dr. Paul.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's titled Peter in the sifter.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: We'll come back at the close of this broadcast for just a few closing remarks.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: Greatly appreciate your list of ship today.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go anywhere.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Here's Dr. Paul from all the way back in 1979.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_03]: But you see how the devil did it now?
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder what all those people saw when Moses this will make God and hit that rock.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_03]: Don't you suppose that's very humiliating for Moses?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_03]: But that's what the devil's ought to do.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's ought to destroy your testimony and mine.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: And then here's a sense.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: A sense in what the strong man.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: He was going to be, and what the judge in Israel, and somebody going up to Samuel and said, Samuel, I'm not Samuel, rather, but Samson.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: You don't know what, but I'm going to tell you something about you.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to tell me about me.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: the day is going to come when you're going to think so low in the scene that you're going to visit our heart.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_03]: In a sense, and said, you've been going to say that twice, I could not hear your head clear on the world.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: One thought, you better not talk about me like that.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I just want you to know that you are going to this honor God and this grace God and you are actually going to visit our heart.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: What do you believe it?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_03]: Who?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: He went and believed it.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: With more than a blade, it says you're going to blow your top.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_03]: Would Elijah believe it?
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: It says, if you said you're going to run from one woman, no.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: And you and I wouldn't believe it either.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: We wouldn't believe it either.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody would have tailed us ahead of time.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: Something we might do in the moment of week.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: or how the devil would rejoice.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: He wants to get us all to the scepter and he wants us to be destroyed.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: So far as our testimony is concerned.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: Well, things he's what you've gone to David.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, David, I got some news for you.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a prophet.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to prophesy something about you.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_03]: What's the prophecy?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: You are going to be in such a
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: naked you won't have the power to keep them taking the second load and i first look get you but that second one is going to get you that's a second look uh... david said no way
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: You're saying that I, the man after God's own heart are the king of Israel.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_03]: I have the leader of armies that I am going to commit adultery with another man's wife.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to see a woman naked taking a bat and I won't have the moral strength to take my eyes off her.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: Would he believe that?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_03]: You suppose we believe in somebody told us that?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: How many men do you know that have been in the ministry?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: Have, have gone down the drain on this very thing.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: I told you about that yesterday.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_03]: Paul, how we have to be careful.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_03]: We have to be careful, man.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: We're men.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: We've got to be careful.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: The devil will attack you at what you say is your strong point.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: David strong point was he was a man after God's own heart.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: And since his strong point was that he was strong, physically, and he had judged, and Moses was strong because he was weak.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: And Elijah was strong because he was courageous and the devil got everyone up on their strong point.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: And so we had to be careful.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: You know one time I was holding meetings in certain churches to call where he put a good size church at that time.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's about 14 hundred members and they had a associate pastor there in the youth director.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_03]: So my singer and I were driving downtown to the loop every day from
- 8:11[SPEAKER_03]: So we were using his car, the Friday came and he came to me and he said, I'm going to be gone all the weekend.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: So since you have my car, brother Paul, he said, now Saturday night, he said, I want you to take my babysitter home.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_03]: I said, how old is your babysitter?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: Or about 18?
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: At that time, I was at the early 20s.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I said, no, I'm not going to take your babysitter home.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_03]: I can't understand it, fellow.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: You think he'd have more sense.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_03]: He looked at me and said, you kidding me?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_03]: I said, no, I'm not kidding you.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't take your babysitter home for any amount of money.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: So why not?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I said, no.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: He said, you could take Bob with you.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I said, he'd be a great shape for all needs.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's stone blind.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_03]: He was a blind man, you know.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_03]: He traveled with me for four or two years.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: He said, you could have him with you.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: So, I said, no, I'm not going to take her home.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_03]: I said, supposing, I take her home.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe boggling, maybe boggling, maybe boggling, but supposing I take her home is later in a clock at night.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: And suppose she's sitting in the back seat, I won't even let her sit in the front seat with me.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: Now I'm driving her home, and we're getting a wreck.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: Some drunk and driver comes along and plows into it.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: Next day in the newspapers, evangelist Pauline, holy means, ancestral Bible church, and Suzy Jones age 18.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: In a wreck last night, 11 o'clock.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: See?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have that one to done?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: The world, your baby said, it's going to get home.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because I got here at Carbara, so I don't want to take it home.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_03]: You can't be too careful.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you're in Christian work or what kind of work you're in because it's a devil's Venice to see if he can't destroy your testimony.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: I know of a man who went to a foreign mission field as a missionary, but had to come home in disgrace because he got mixed up with a woman.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_03]: You said, Missionary?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: If a missionary would fall like that, don't tell him what you and I might do
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's what the devil's out to do.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: Or, you know, it's just sort of scares me when I think about how the devil is out to destroy life.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, thank you so much for listening today.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know the thought and the theme that I want to convey to you is this.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: He is out to destroy you.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Who am I talking about?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm not talking about God.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about Dr. Paul Levine.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about me.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to destroy you.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: No friend, there is one that wants to destroy you and he'll stop at nothing.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: it's Satan, of course.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: The devil.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's the prince and the power of the air for now, but there will come a day of judgment, there will come a day of reckoning, until, though, until that day, friend, we need to be on our guard.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's out to destroy you.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think of those verses that Dr. Paul read on the Monday broadcast, Luke, chapter number 22 and verse number 31, and the Lord said Simon, Simon, who is speaking to Peter, behold Satan had desire to have you, that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not, and when thou art converted strength and thy brethren.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Peter didn't understand in that moment, all that the devil wanted to do with him.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: All of the destruction that was going to be unleashed in his direction, thankfully he yes, he failed.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he denied Christ three times.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, just like you and just like me, he stumbled.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm so thankful for the end of Peter's life and how he served God mildly and strongly.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if he looked back on that time when
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: If he thought back, I'm sure it's shame, but also with resolve that I'm not gonna let that happen.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Again, he, the devil, he's after the destroyer, but I'm so glad for that part of the verse.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord said, I have prayed for thee.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, thank you so much for listening.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you'll join us and conclude tomorrow.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right here on the Bible Trek echoes a radio broadcast, have a great day for his glory.
