[upbeat music] That recognizable tune means it's a time for another Full Spectrum Cycling show.
• 0:19
This is number 224. Hey, and I think that was my old tech room. 224? 224 or 226. It kinda m- it kinda- We'll bring it up again... get merged Two shows in. Yeah, you can just- Exactly... you can talk about it again.
• 0:33
Well, it started out as one. No, it was 226. Okay. Oh, okay. Then we ended up in- Never mind... two shows Two shows early. They made it into two rooms by my senior year, 224.
• 0:42
You had to go through 224 to get to 226, much like today's show. As you were Sven. And we can digress right into- [laughs] D- we can digress into Tupac Shakur. To who?
• 0:53
[laughs] His, his murderer has apparently been found. No kidding. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. In Vegas. That's been a while. Yeah. Well, why would you be, still be in Vegas? Right? [laughs] You had so much time to get away.
• 1:07
Um, what? Too soon? [laughs] Um, no. [laughs] It's been, what, 25 years? It's been an- it's been a while. 90... '97, I think. It's been a minute. Ha. Ha. Always missed. Oh, man.
• 1:22
Well, are we recovered from the Nut Factory open house yet? Ah, yes. I was kinda drunk. I actually didn't... I only had, like, three beers, so I felt pretty all right. But it was, it was kinda like, it...
• 1:33
Those things are like weddings to me. They go really fast, and you talk to a bunch of people, and- Yeah. I had a lot of fun putting people in hairdressers, in hairdryers. Yeah. Yeah. I did enjoy that.
• 1:41
A couple of those dudes, though, that was absolutely priceless. Yeah, yep. It's- The guy that wants to do the photo shoot, the young Black dudes doing la- uh, doing clothing, yeah, they need to come back. They were fun.
• 1:51
Yeah. I haven't heard from him yet, but he said he was gonna- Yeah... call and do a shoot. You know who doesn't like the hairdryer so much? Kids. They're afraid of that thing. [laughs] Ah, at first. Daniel was at first.
• 2:01
He got really used to it. Well, once you're in there, I think you kinda get used to it, but- Yeah, the one girl, the one girl was like, "I'm not having that." Yeah.
• 2:07
But then the brother wanted to get in there- Maybe it's-... and it was like, "Oh, well." Is it from watching... Well, they d- don't watch The Jetsons. No.
• 2:13
Is it 'cause it's from the '60s and they're like, "That's so old, I don't wanna put my head in there"? No, I'm, I'm just- They don't, they don't know... confused. It's just, I, I think it's unrecognizable.
• 2:21
There, there's no way that anybody modern era uses something like that really. Maybe, maybe Neil- Daniel, Daniel used his last night. Maybe [laughs] to, to actually dry his hair. [laughs] He got right into it.
• 2:32
It was hilarious. I mean- Yeah. Like, a- you know, after a, well, hot day like, uh, uh, Tuesday was, where it got up into the mid to high 80s here in fair Milwaukee, that would be- In October...
• 2:44
that would, that would be quite refreshing. Yeah, right? Like, yeah, I- It has cold or hot. Yeah Hot, you don't wanna do hot. That's gonna give you cancer.
• 2:50
Yeah, I th- well, I think it's mostly for setting curlers- Right... in the olden times. Right, in the olden times. But it's like an air fryer for your head. Yeah.
• 2:57
[laughs] I mean, [laughs] that's, that's all I could keep thinking of. I'm like- We'll, we'll have pictures of the salon chair. I, I, I know I have one of, uh- They're awesome... Monday in there. Because those- Scott...
• 3:04
yeah, those with hair when it came out was kind of like the whoop, you know, the Dairy Queen nipple on the, like, the top.
• 3:10
Not, not gonna lie, the first time Daniel got in ours at the house, he came out looking just like Donald Trump. [laughs] When- He had the perfect comb over. I'm like, Chewy and I both- Photo... burst out laughing. Photo.
• 3:21
Yeah, I gotta get one of him. Picture didn't happen. We'll pull that up. He looks so funny. All right. Yeah, so, yeah, we had... I don't know. It was a pretty good turnout. I think it was a good turnout.
• 3:29
I did take some... I didn't get up to the fourth floor. I didn't know there was a fourth. [laughs] Well, I th- Oh, wait. I guess I did.
• 3:36
So yeah, the second floor, I went and hung around at Todd and Renee's for a bit, and they always have a ton of people in there. They had a DJ and some interesting stuff.
• 3:43
But man, the coolest thing in the building besides, you know, our shop, was the guy on the third floor with the 3D printers and all the collectible stuff. Oh, yeah, with the Bane mask? Yeah. Oh.
• 3:55
The, I think it's called The Collection Dimension. Hm. He's got some really great stuff in there. Did you ever... You were up there last year. I was up there last time. Yeah, last year.
• 4:03
That's an overwhelming- Yeah, it is. It's overload. So that's- But- I believe that's his website, the, thecollectiondimension.com, and he also has, like, 1,200 items on eBay.
• 4:15
So you go into this studio, which is, like, half the size of our place, right, give or take. Right. So it's not super big, but it's like a full-on retail shop. But he, he mostly- With, with enough space to navigate.
• 4:29
Yeah. Right. Right. I mean, not- He's well, he's- Not the, not a lot, but enough... that guy's on point. Yeah, but he doesn't have people come up there. Right. It's mostly for the YouTube videos and all that stuff.
• 4:37
Right. And it just looks badass in- Huh... in video stuff. I mean, i- it's, uh, it's- Right... it's clever, and he has a lot of cool stuff. I didn't wanna look too closely at most of it. [laughs] Yeah.
• 4:47
Well, it was very, it's dense. It's just like concentrate. It's like taking like- Well, it's credit card dense too... well, yeah. It's- Oh, yeah...
• 4:53
it's like taking all the museums on the National Mall and shoving them, like, into one- Yeah... and then, like, trying to just watch. Yeah, that's where I was going. Or trying to look.
• 5:01
[laughs] It's like, "Oh, wait, like, I just wanna unpack this one little pillar you got here." Yeah. He recently got, uh, an e- I think it's an Epiphone guitar, like Marty McFly plays in- Hm...
• 5:13
Back to the Future, and Michael J. Fox autographed it. Oh, Jesus. Nice. Yeah. That's for some cash. Oh, yeah. Yeah. He's got a lot of autographed stuff. So he goes to the, the Gen Cons or Com- Yeah...
• 5:24
Comic Cons or- Yeah, he was talking about- So he gets conned a lot apparently. He was t- yeah, he was talking about the th- uh, the- Or he's the conner... three people from the Star War. Oh. War. War. Yeah.
• 5:33
Yeah, so that was- Well, I was playing, I was playing a little like- That's pretty cool. I was playing. Well, uh, other cool stuff happened this week.
• 5:39
Uh, JK got to see Stop Making Sense, the 40th anniversary re- Remastered and-... re- remaster. Yes That'd be mind-blowing. It's- oh, yeah. Yeah. They're talking heads, folks. Yes.
• 5:52
And- If you don't know that, you shouldn't be listening to our podcast. [laughs] Mr. Jerry Harrison, Shorewood's own- Yeah... uh, was in attendance. Did a little Q&A
• 6:01
right after the show with- Oh, that was at, uh, Riverside? Mm, Oriental. Oriental. Oriental even better. The Milwaukee Film- Even better Sponsored little- Ditty. Yeah.
• 6:10
I think it goes for a little bit still, but not with the resident Jerry. Yeah, he was only in town, yeah, he was just in town for the weekend, which was very cool. He just, then he just said, "Fuck you, Wisconsin.
• 6:21
I'm gone." [laughs] I think he still likes it here. Oh, yeah. He comes pretty regularly. Why wouldn't he? He comes pretty- He sure would nice, man. [laughs] Yeah, he comes a couple...
• 6:27
I bet he co- he's here a couple times a year for some reason or another. Yeah. Or at least has been. Probably Maxie Warren. Oh, come on now. So, there's a, I don't know what it's called- Come on now...
• 6:36
but there's a- But Rich Morris did the Q&A from the WMSE- Nice... on Wednesday nights with the City Rock Showgram. Showgram. Now- It was cool. I, I, I, that was unexpected.
• 6:47
I, I kinda thought I heard that he was gonna do that on some of them, but this was on a Sunday. This was, like, the last show. I didn't realize that. Nice little surprise. Yeah. So, go, go... I rode my bike there, too.
• 7:00
[laughs] I got a- That's why it's, that's why it's relevant- Yeah, I got- In case you were wondering. [laughs] Well, relevancy here, too.
• 7:06
I think, you know, he may end up back in Milwaukee area permanently because there's, like, a climate study about the places you wanna be when the shit hits the fan. Wisconsin. Our, our area, right, is, like...
• 7:19
Okay, so when they do percentiles, like you're the smartest person in the world, you're in the 98th or 99th percentile. You're in Wisconsin.
• 7:26
We're, we're, like, in the, the first percentile of the best place you wanna be. It's like, yeah, it's not gonna happen here. Right. We got, we got everything, including fresh water. Right. [laughs] Right.
• 7:36
Till we give it to fucking Waukesha. Oh, well. Waukesha. I'm, uh, you know, by the way, my- I opened a can of worms with that, but- I did, my new house is gonna get some solar panels on it. He's colored in the scabs.
• 7:44
[laughs] And, uh, the two companies that are part of the Milwaukee Solar Project, one is Arc Solar in Milwaukee, and the other one is I Don't Know Solar in Waukesha. Guess which one I'm going with?
• 8:01
The one that's not in Waukesha. [laughs] Exactly, and I'm gonna tell them that. I think I'm gonna start calling it Waukesha- Yeah... just to sorta- Economawauka... stick it in to them. Yeah. Me No Money Falls.
• 8:10
We got all kinds of them. All right. Here comes some bike stuff. Ooh, cool. Uh, JK sent this about 30 seconds [laughs] after I saw it, too. Oh. [laughs] Next Saturday, the 13th, Biketoberfest- Yes... is back for 2023.
• 8:25
Yes. Yes, indeed. Don't miss this. Dance party. Yeah. It's, it's, uh, starting- Okay... at the Blackbird Bar down there in the Bay View. 6:00, 6- Oh, is it Blackbird? Yeah, 6:30, um- Oh, I didn't read it.
• 8:35
Costumes- [laughs] He just-... encouraged? Costumes are encouraged. [laughs] Absolutely. It's, it's always that. I mean, it's, it's been the same- Dance party, costumes encouraged. Encouraged.
• 8:45
It's been the same poster, so I, I kinda j- Yeah... it's like- True that... I see it, and then I'm like, yeah, I kinda gotta remember what the- But enlighten people about this ride...
• 8:52
the dates, dates and locations always change. Enlighten people about this, 'cause this is one of the best rides of the year. Yeah. I think, you know, it's, it's a curated ride. That's a good way to put it. You don't...
• 9:01
Well, and he militantly does not tell you where you're going next, which- Is awesome... we've, we've learned how much of a mistake that is. [laughs] Right. To say where the next stop is, it's like, "No, just follow me.
• 9:12
You'll find out where it is"- Yeah. I've had-... "when we get there." To this day, that was one of my favorite m- like, memories is, uh, butt crack Andy- [laughs]...
• 9:22
[laughs] going up to Bill and be like, going, "Hey, you know, no, no, I just need to know where the next stop is." "Yeah, yeah, you'll find out- Yeah, yeah... when you, we, when we get there." When we ride along.
• 9:31
Somehow the inner circle- But it, it, it-... does learn a little in advance... it was so, I mean, he said it so nice. He said it to him so nice. I was just like, oh, my God, I would be, like, such a j- But [laughs]
• 9:40
no, I just, "Hey, where is the next stop?" But you have a history at BCA. No. Uh, well, yeah, but- I mean, but Bill probably didn't know him from Adam at that point. Exactly. That's why it was so nice.
• 9:49
He's just like, "Well, you're gonna find out when we get there." Yes. That's why it was so, oh- 'Cause Bill does a great job-... effortless... on those rides. It was effortless.
• 9:54
Yeah, and, uh, there's a lot of newer places that may be on the list this year. We won't know. Things, things have changed. Yeah. This is the one- But it'll be a ride around the south side of Milwaukee down there. Yeah.
• 10:05
That one rolls- You can pretty much guess it'll be-... to the south... somewhere 15- Yeah... plus, 15 miles.
• 10:10
Now, if you don't feel like riding your bike that night, there is also the Friday Night Freak Show- Ah, yes it is... which is Coven. Not Coven. Uh, yeah. But Mark Borchard's Coven- Huh...
• 10:23
which is- Also a Southeast Wisconsin native. Uh, he's menam- Me No Money Falls. [laughs] Uh, but yeah, he's, uh, he's gonna be there doing some sort of commentary afterwards, I guess. Right on.
• 10:36
If you've never seen this show, it's hilarious. Right on. 'Cause that, that's that time, so I would say- I own it on VHS. That's at the Times... it's gotta be at the Times by now. Yeah.
• 10:42
I think Von Munns is doing the early spin. I believe Von Munns is doing the early spin. If I am not mistaken. I, um- Let me make s- I own that signed copy on VHS. Very nice.
• 10:52
Oh, do y- I, if you need a VHS player, I still have two of them. I have one, too. [laughs] Oh, mine was w- mine was working. It was awesome.
• 10:59
Uh, so while you are listening to this, uh, today, I'm headed to Iowa right now. Is that right? Yeah. We're going to Fatoberfest- Ah, nice... over there in Osage, Iowa. Somehow this turned into a big rigamarole.
• 11:13
Uh-huh, rigamarole. Yeah, so I- [laughs] So Dave Puck Lunns bought, uh, Colin's old Necromancer to get the green wheels off of it, 'cause he wanted the green rims. Mm-hmm. And then he sold the frame and such to Chewy.
• 11:30
Oh, geez. Now Chewy is gonna... I have to deliver the frame, and then I gotta go to Deke's shop in Decorah to pick up the Girvin bike that Dave is buying from Deke. So, there's that thing.
• 11:42
And then this morning, or whatever, Tuesday morning, [laughs] uh, Dave Sadowski says, "Well, I sold the bike to a guy in Decorah." I'm like, "Huh?" So that's gonna come down here via Tom Schuler.
• 11:54
I gotta pick that up on the way and deliver that to Osage, which is just like... [laughs] It's nice that- Bike taxi... it's nice that all this is happening, 'cause it's kind of, like, very seamless mostly.
• 12:06
I, I head out of town on 94. Schuler lives, like, I don't know, less than a mile off 94. Nice. So, it's easy to pick it up. And, uh, you know, I'm, I'm glad I can-... be useful to these people.
• 12:18
[laughs] Well, Jeff, glad they're making you their chauffeur. Yeah. I, I chauffeur bikes. I don't, uh, people? Yeah, the bikes are quiet. It does sound like- Keep it, keep it down back there, all you bikes.
• 12:27
[laughs] Right. It sounds like a r- r- rigamarole. [laughs] It is rigamarole-y. As soon as I saw Dave post the picture with the green wheels, I'm like, "Isn't that Kyle's bike?" Well, the best deal is the Girvin fork.
• 12:38
I think that's something that I would like to come across one, and somehow he talked Heath out of this. Maybe it didn't make it into the car. Well, maybe it fell off on the way. It fell off on the way.
• 12:46
It fell out of the back of the truck. It did, I'm certain. Oh, that's not the same one that's on... That's a different one. No, that's a different one. Totally. Yeah. That's mine. That could be.
• 12:54
You're not listening to this, Dave Lund. Yeah, dot com. [laughs] Dave fucking Lundstrom. Here's more, here's more sad, sad bicycling news. Oh, no. Oh.
• 13:02
I think we talked about All-City being, like, not totally shutting down yet, but they're not developing anything after next year, and eventually it will be mothballed. Yeah. Guess what's certainly mothballed?
• 13:14
If they were gonna mothball one bike, which bike do you think would be the worst one to mothball and or not sell anymore? Well, for me, it's- The one that they've done the most of, probably... Pugsleys.
• 13:26
No, I don't think they've done the most Pugsleys. Oh, you're not talking, like, a Cross Check or something? I am talking a Cross Check. No. Yes. Why would they discontinue that bike? I don't know.
• 13:36
Maybe because it doesn't have modern standards. Fuck, that's a great bike. Maybe because they don't sell that many. Maybe 'cause there's so many in the world already that anybody that wants one- Okay, maybe...
• 13:45
can find it on the used market. Maybe. Maybe I don't know, but it just seems like QBP is, is, is axing a lot of stuff based on- Ridonkulous, man... probably their, you know, b- bean cruncher type folks over there. Wow.
• 13:59
But yeah, so Cross Check is no more. I guess if I were interested in a Cross Check, I'd probably try to find one sooner than later. Right. On [laughs] knowing, knowing what I know now. Are they keeping the Truckers?
• 14:09
Disc Trucker and- Haven't heard anything about that. Okay. 'Cause those are kinda old school geometry and stuff. Yeah. Yeah, but at least those have disc. Keep it classic. Well, there's a, I don't know Yeah...
• 14:17
just checked too, but anyway, so yeah, QBP's killing stuff off left and right. You know who's not killing stuff off? Did I, did I send you a picture which- Oh, my God... it's [laughs]...
• 14:29
is that a gorgeous freaking touring bike. Which [laughs] no. Mountain touring. What do you call that thing? Which, the Esker one? Yeah. Oh, the long tail- The-...
• 14:37
Esker, uh, Hayduke LVS, whatever Hayduke I don't know what LVS stands for, but it's a, it's a long wheel base similar to, uh, maybe a Black Borough or something.
• 14:49
But yeah, titanium and beautiful and [sighs] And realistically, for a pretty dressed titanium bike, it was 4,500 almost? 4,9 fiddy with- That's-... completely outfitted...
• 14:59
that, when you're talking a forever bike- Yeah... not bad. I'm trying to figure out how to get one somehow 'cause it's very- I'm not... s- it's very similar to the long tail that I already have in the other room. Yeah.
• 15:09
But it's titanium. But titanium, right. Yeah. And yeah. And not, it doesn't take as big of tires either. Yep. S- speaking of bikes, did I tell you that last week I, uh, was asked to tour the rec center for UW Milwaukee?
• 15:22
Mm. No. I don't even know what that is. And they- What is that? They moved it, so it's really funny. Here's the, here's the long story about it.
• 15:29
Uh, my Smitty, some fucker put a dent in it this week, um, had a low lea- a slow leak in the tire, so I rode to campus to the union back when the rec center was in the basement.
• 15:41
And I pulled my Smitty up, and I'm like, "Can I borrow a pump?"
• 15:44
And I'm pumping up the tire, and this young lady, very nice young lady, says, um, which if we go back, like, t- 200 podcasts, it was on this one too, and I, and I said... She's like, "Is that a Salsa?" I'm like, "Well,
• 15:57
no, it's a Schlick Cycles, but oddly enough, it's a Salsa fork." I'm like, "You obviously know your bikes." And she says, "My dad rides those fat bikes." And I'm like, "Is that right?" I'm like, "Who's your dad?"
• 16:10
"Well, his name is Keith, but everyone calls him Bubba." [laughs] And I'm like, "Really?" I'm like, "I know Bubba." Everybody knows Bubba. "He always has a flat tire."
• 16:20
And she, she's like, while she's talking to me she's typing something into the computer, and then she turns around and she's like, "Yeah, here's a picture of my dad right here."
• 16:28
And I'm like, "And there's a picture of me right there." I'm like, "We were all fat biking that day. He got a flat tire and borrowed my tube to be able to make it home."
• 16:37
So anyway, the rec center is no longer in the basement of the union. It is now in the, the Klotsche Center, which is the athletics area.
• 16:45
And I, my contact there, he took me down to introduce me to the manager and stuff, and guess w- they have, like, a half a dozen fat bikes that they loan out to people. Huh. Seriously? Guess who makes them? I don't...
• 17:01
Fixation. Framed. Oh, okay. Like, they have framed- Well, but they don't make them anymore. Right. Well, of course not. Because they are gone now. Gone. And I happened to mention that.
• 17:11
I'm like, "Yeah, Framed is out of business." And she's like, "Well, I still think they make bikes in Wisconsin." I'm like, "Are you sure you're not talking about Wyatt?" And she's like, "Oh, it is Wyatt."
• 17:18
[laughs] I'm like, "Yes, it is." Yeah, they should start- But she asked me... getting some Wyatts in there... she's like, she's like, "Do you guys ever need assistance with trail maintenance?"
• 17:26
And I said, "We would always be able to find people to do trail maintenance." She's like, "Well, you let me know when you want some people, and I have lots of people to help you volunteer." Right on.
• 17:36
So pretty great- Does that count for, like, an urban jungle cross or just for trails? [laughs] I think we could ask her to do that. Her, her partner is a gravel rider.
• 17:43
I sent her a picture of the, uh, the gravel bike we sell and said, "Hey, your husband should upgrade to a US..." or, "Your partner should upgrade to a US-made bike." So stuff like that. Should do that.
• 17:53
But anyway, I, I thought that was a pretty great experience to be, uh... The other funny part is she had a Colorado license plate in her office, and I'm like, "Oh, do you live in Colorado?" And she said, "Yeah."
• 18:04
I'm like, "Where?" And she said, "Greeley." And I looked at her and said, "I'm really sorry." And this guy Heath, my contact, kinda looks at me like, "Why are you saying that?"
• 18:12
And then she looked at him and said, "Oh, yeah, it sucks." I almost went there because they have an aviation school in Greeley. Yeah. They also have- Because it's a-... stench...
• 18:19
it's a decent spot for, for flying for some reason. Oh, it absolutely is. It's flat and windy- Yeah... from the Front Range. Yeah.
• 18:24
But- That was a- The, the smell of rendering blood will get to you after, oh, eight seconds. Yeah, for sure. [laughs] Ah. Hey, our friends at State Bicycle got some stuff going on. Did I send you the picture yet? Mm-hmm.
• 18:39
[laughs] Since it's, since it's embargoed yesterday, it's, the embargo is off, we can talk about it Tuesday. There's- Fuck... their new State Clunker. Did you see, you saw the picture, JK? No. No. Yeah.
• 18:52
Oh, you need to pull it up on that phone of yours. So it, it pretty much... So I don't, so I didn't know who Ripndip is. Rip- Oh, I, I didn't know that either... n- dip.
• 18:59
They're a Los Angeles based street wear brand known for their irreverent and fun-loving style with its iconic cat mascot w- who's on the seat, and that had two badge and stuff.
• 19:09
But the State Clunker that we're all so familiar with and love so very much pretty much says, "Fuck you," about 1,000 times- [laughs]... all over the bike. [laughs] It's, it's a, it's black and white graphics.
• 19:21
It's completely inappropriate, and I love it. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. I'm wondering if it's, uh, gonna, if it's gonna sell well. I would think. I think it's gonna sell well. [laughs] Probably.
• 19:29
Yeah, I, I would imagine they make 200, I think they make 200 of every one of their collabs pretty much. So, see if they can get 200 of those FU bikes out there. They can make them, they can get to them.
• 19:40
But they also have FU frame bags for your Clunker, and FU round bags like we've got, like the Ozzy one I have and stuff, and... I certain- The, the Dez one I have...
• 19:50
I certainly, I cer- So you won't be able to get into that link today because it's still embargoed. I think I sent it in the, in the messages, JK. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Oh.
• 19:58
Uh, but here's another cool thing that they're doing, and I'm kinda interested in it. It is a... [bell ringing] Oh, we'll talk about it after the top of the hill. [laughs] Top of the hill, everybody. Top of the hill.
• 20:12
Tony, you brought the beer today. Tony- To- top of the hill this, this week is the River West- Back- Backyard-... Backyard Hops edition- Yeah... at Company Brewing.
• 20:23
What they do is they pick a date and then ask everyone in River West, or of course anywhere surrounding, to bring in their fresh hops, and then they make a wet hopped pale ale.
• 20:38
And this year I brought in four and a half pounds of hops. Um, I brought in four and a half pounds of hops. Well done. And someone else brought in 22, which is amazing to me.
• 20:51
I think total, according to their thing, is they got over 180 pounds. Yeah, which considering- From the neighborhood... River West isn't very big, that's a lot of hops grown in River West.
• 21:01
Um, mine have been kind of unru- unruly, but it's pretty neat. They have a really nice can. That's a Michigan- We should put it in the picture... picture of a can. Which I forgot my phone.
• 21:09
It says, "Thank you, River West." [laughs] Um, but it's really cool. You came there, you told them what, what hops you thought you had. Which were, what were yours? Uh, mine are, are, uh, Cascade and, um... Oh, crap.
• 21:26
I- Centennial? No. No. 'Cause Centennial's another more of an IPA. Uh, mine was a brown hop, and I'm... Mount Hood. No. Hmm. I'm sorry. I will remember it- Well, here's just so-... after the show's over...
• 21:38
it, it, so there is, there were a lot. Nugget, Centennial, Cascade, Teamaker, Willamette, Golden, Saz, Zeus, Mount Hood, Columbia. My good. Thank you. I don't even know what that one is. Chinook, Cluster, Simcoe.
• 21:51
Yeah, and a couple other ones I... M Comic... Comethor A couple other ones I can't pronounce, but if you knew what your hop, hops you were- Hop, Palletized and stuff. Yeah, yeah...
• 21:57
you're supposed to tell them what they were. But, uh- But a lot of people just brought in buckets of, of hops. Yeah, so they wet hop it a- at, uh, uh, what part of the brewing process do they do?
• 22:08
They do, they steep it in the whirlpool after the boil to extract the flavors. Yeah. Um- It's, it's good. We- It's good this year...
• 22:15
To- Tony brought this for the open, uh, Factory Nuthouse, uh, open house thing- Saturday event... Saturday. And I was thinking it was gonna be, like, pretty powerful. It's 5.4%. It's, yeah. You can drink, they can drink.
• 22:26
Supposedly. They could be lying like Tim. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. Um, and, and for the record, uh, I'm bringing this all together with Company.
• 22:34
I had a beer with Eric at Company the, the other day, and he is shocked that you guys have never had anything to eat there.
• 22:40
[laughs] We should go there and have something to eat because you guys- I think I had breakfast during a River West 24- No, we, we-... five years ago or something... the brunch is outstanding...
• 22:49
I know because my bike was dripping vegan cheese. Cheese, yeah. [laughs] And we went there for some reason. Pretty sure. It's a pretty fine establishment. I'm sure. I just never have gotten around to it. Yeah.
• 23:01
Anytime that that has come up, there's been something else that was on the- True that. True that... thing. 75 IBU, by the way. Oh. That's, it's, it, it's good.
• 23:10
I, I'm, I'm assuming that it all just turns into what it turns into and- Right, right. I mean, that's the funny part about it. It's decent. It's so much different every year- Yeah... which is what- Good stuff...
• 23:19
adds to the umph. [laughs] So we were talking, uh, Von Munns a little earlier. Oh, yeah. Yeah. WMSC DJ, Thursdays noon to 3:00. Yes, indeed.
• 23:31
Uh, just in time for Halloween apparently there's going to be a Von Munns T-shirt available. Yes. Has this been released for real? I have, it's just in time for Halloween. I don't think it's been released yet.
• 23:40
'Cause no, I don't think he even- 'Cause it's not just in time yet... made it public until, I knew about this, like, five months ago, you guys. Yeah. Okay. I was sworn to secrecy.
• 23:45
You're, you're, yeah, you're sworn to secrecy. Sworn her into secrecy, so I'm very excited- You're, you're in the know... this is finally coming out. Yeah, so I know some- I've only begged him for years...
• 23:51
somewhere I, somewhere I saw it, so it must be common knowledge by now. Yeah, I saw, I saw a picture of it when I, uh, what was it? During, uh, Doors Open. Oh, okay. I s- I popped in and then,
• 24:04
uh, this woman, I have no idea who she was, but she was, like, a volunteer with [clears throat] the station that helps with that part of the shop of the website, I think. She's like, "I have the pictures.
• 24:18
I have the pictures. We just gotta put them up. We just gotta put them up on the website." [laughs] I, I just didn't understand- This-... what the hell was going on, but- This is something I could help WMSC with...
• 24:27
and I was like, I was like, "Oh, shit." I'm like, so- I kinda need a job... so when I went inside, she was like, "Oh, let me show you the picture." And I'm like, "Oh, hell yeah. Let me see the picture."
• 24:34
So I have seen- I'm, I have seen- So I, I've seen the design... did you take, did you take a picture of the picture? No, that would've- And-... that'd been a little too much. As is obviously- [laughs]...
• 24:41
I'm wearing another WMSC shirt this evening. Oh, do we kill this big band show. The due A. Well, it's a good shirt. I, I will, yeah, because it's- I'm tempted to get the C bar A... Mello the Cat. A, it's black. Right.
• 24:51
And I'm not buying any shirt from them if it's not black Oh, I am, 'cause Von Munns might be white Well, we'll see. [laughs] But here's my idea. I'll have to make it on the, on the move then.
• 24:59
I have, I have many, many shirts from WMSE, 'cause I love WMSE. But I'm gonna tell you, Von Munns is gonna be the only one that I'm gonna buy multiple shirts. 'Cause I wanna wear the...
• 25:10
I want one that I can wear, like, weekly, I want one that I can pull out on special occasions, and I want one that I can never, ever wear. [laughs] The shirt collector. You know who else has a shirt coming up?
• 25:21
Did we talk about this last week?
• 25:23
[clears throat] Stevil at All Hail the Black Market, the- We didn't talk about- The heavy- We talked about it earlier, I thought, though Well, we talked about the, the design, but now there's a sh- Off Mike, I believe...
• 25:32
there's now a shirt coming out, and there's a pre-order available. Links in the show notes. It is kind of the wizard staff van and skateboard thing. [sings] There's all sorts of stuff going on. It is- [sings]...
• 25:45
quite possibly one of the coolest shirts I've ever seen. [sings] It's in the show notes? Yeah. Excellent. And I, I'd go ahead and pre-order it if I were you because, uh- All the packages...
• 25:55
you might, you might not get one if you don't pre-order, because he's not, you know, he's not gonna bankroll everybody until they decide to throw money at him. Right.
• 26:03
You're gonna wanna throw money at him first, and then he might maybe get around- Extend it... to making shirts. I mean, you know, might have to beg a little bit, little, little pleading, but, uh- [bleats]...
• 26:14
I think it's, it's... I think- Oh. [laughs] Whoa, that's bleating, sir. Ah. Not, not pleading. Yeah. You are- [laughs] I was baa-ing, but yeah. Whatever. Was I? Yeah, yeah. That's baa-d. [laughs] Yes. Happy October.
• 26:30
I've been listening, yes. So we, have we- It is, it, be- well, the Von Munns, I'll back on that. You know, the crypt's open. Yeah. Especially during October.
• 26:39
This is the time for Halloween-y music, man- I'm kind of bummed-... with the creeper shit... I'm kinda bummed, listening to WMSE, I did not win Ty Segall tickets. Yep. I did not. It's tomorrow.
• 26:51
I- Or two days ago when this episode drops... I didn't, I didn't win any tickets, but I, well, I kind of won. [laughs] My, my social circle happenstance got tickets to the Eddie Izzard that I saw. Nice.
• 27:02
And it was an awesome show because it was in the past, but in the future. Yeah. In the what- What, what is gonna happen here... messing with the timeline here. Disgovernment, yeah, so.
• 27:11
Yeah, no Life, uh, with the Thrill Coke Cult either, but I would really like- Oh, boy... to see Adult more than I'd like to see- Sure... Thrill Coke Cult. Thrill Coke, yeah. Exactly.
• 27:19
That, that would be a good, that would be a good show. But I'll be seeing- Especially at Turner... I'll have to see Amyl and the Sniffers in Madison on the 11th. Oh, wow. Damn. [laughs] That's gonna be a damn fun show.
• 27:29
And the same night as Mudhoney down at X-Ray Arcade, which still bends my brain, but it's sold out, so I can't get it anyways, so I'm not gonna worry about it, so I can do- You said this either last week or two weeks ago, and as soon as I heard Mudhoney and X-Ray, I'm like, "Really?"
• 27:42
Oh, shit. I know. That would've been a destiny. Oh, that's gonna be- If, if I hadn't won the tickets-... butts to cocks... I would've moved heaven and Earth to get that, but- Yeah, that's gonna be full of fucking people.
• 27:51
Eh, alas, no. 'Cause that, it sold out pretty damn quick. As it should. Yeah, yeah. But I was glad there was a little gapper there. It wasn't like some weird Ticketmaster suck-up like- Yeah. True, true... you know?
• 28:02
It's like, oh, come on. So- Oh, I was... So there's this new, this is a bike thing again. Yeah. It is. It- 'Cause we were at our bikes at X-Ray Arcade.
• 28:12
Well, it's, so I w- I thought- [laughs] So there's this, there's this, a link in the show notes to this. It's called the Volcon Grunt. Yeah, Grunt.
• 28:19
It's an electric bike with super huge tires, and what I was thinking in my mind was Rokon, because that's the two-wheel drive, big, huge tire thing that they use to groom f- fat bike trails in certain spots.
• 28:31
Oh, right, right, right. And I thought, "Oh, they're making an electric version of that two-wheel drive, you know, groom thing."
• 28:39
It's, it's good for other stuff too, but I, apparently Volcon and Rokon are slightly different [laughs] things. But it is pretty cool. It's, it's electric, and it's got humongous tires on it. And, uh- What is humongous?
• 28:50
  Uh, they, I don't even know. They're- They're that big... they're big. They're big. I don't even know. There's a picture. That's how big they are. There's a picture here.
• 28:57
Because that, that- They're like, they're like- What's your name? Fuck you, that's my name. [laughs] Oh, so they're like off-road- Oh, yeah. They're ti-... like, like ATV tires...
• 29:03
yeah, total- [laughs] They're like, yeah, kinda like two tires on a motorcycle that could be on an ATV maybe. Right, right on. But it's electric.
• 29:09
Speaking, speaking of tires, we did also throw in the show notes, or at least sent messages, uh, w- what's a story with Rad bikes doing a 22-inch wheel? I'm not, I'm not sure if that makes- That's-... any sense at all...
• 29:24
that is the dumbest, it's, that's the reason I chose not to buy that bike. Instead, I'm looking at, and still will purchase eventually, the Expedition because- Ele- electric...
• 29:33
Electric Expedition, because it's 20 inch and- Which you can find a bunch of tires for... your selection's huge and cheap. Yeah. I don't- You know, 22, how many tires can you get that are 22? I don't even know. Not many.
• 29:48
I don't know. I, I'm gonna guess it's pretty close to zero, unless you go to their website and spend an exorbitant amount of money- They're special... 'cause they're douches. It seems silly. You have a specialness.
• 29:57
It does seem real- Silly down there... it gets a, it's a really highly rated electric cargo bike, but every complaint about it [laughs] is the 22-inch wheels. Oh, yeah.
• 30:06
It, at least go extra cycle and go 26 in the front and 20 in the rear. I didn't, did I look at it? It, does it have, is it a mid-drive? No. It's a, it's a rear drive. Oh, it's a hub- It's 1800.
• 30:16
It's your- It's a hub drive, so you'd have to rebuild your wheel into something that's more logical. It's, it's your, you know, it, it's a, you know, low-budget, mail order only cargo bike, along with- Okay. Well...
• 30:26
the likes of Lectric and Aventon, however you say that. Is it UL certified? Ah, that I don't know, but I think they would be fools not to do something like that- It's, it's-...
• 30:36
after another house burned down in Colorado... I think it's gonna probably become something that has to- Mm... has to happen. Well, I'm sure you can always circumvent, but
• 30:47
there, the, all the New York stuff where all the fires are happening- Right... now there's a law there that you have to have, like, battery lockers. They're like fireproof lockers- Right...
• 30:55
that have hundreds of batteries in them somehow. Yeah. Interesting.
• 30:59
Colorado, there was a story today about a guy whose house burned down after he bought a cheap kit online and built his own, and yeah, he lost everything. That is a good reason to p- we use an ammo case,
• 31:11
a big, huge am- We also use a reputable battery... yeah. But it goes in the ammo case when it's charging, especially customer batteries- Mm-hmm... because don't know what those things are about. But, uh,
• 31:22
yeah, that thing, you know, if it's explosive proof because [laughs] 'Cause it has to be... that's what it's made for. But yeah, that, that- All right. Well-... that's interesting... uh, yeah, Os- Osage, uh, tomorrow.
• 31:33
Uh, stuff coming up. Uh, also a show next week, folks. Don't know what's gonna happen then, but we'll, I guess we'll, we'll be here. I'll be back by then. Happy anniversary, baby. Probably. Happy anniversary, Wally.
• 31:44
Yeah. Happy anniversary. Stuck with me still. Happy anniversary, baby. 30. Got you, oh, ma- 30... ma-hee. Happy anniversary... happy anniversary. [sings] 32 years. What a fool. 32 years.
• 31:55
[sings] Happy, happy, happy anniversary. Yeah. What a fool. Is there a song? You've been there, you've been there longer than I have. It's like 28 years. Married 25, but- Yeah... 28. Anyway, 20- Yeah... whatever.
• 32:06
There you go. All right, next week, folks. Bye. Bye. Happy Octobers. Meow, meow, meow.
• 32:13
