- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing in with Becca Tilly and Tanya Rad, an iHeartRadio
- 0:04Speaker 1: and two-time People's Choice Award winning podcast. Maybe at one
- 0:11Speaker 1: point in my life I'll really get strict on it,
- 0:13Speaker 1: but that's just crazy talk to me. We've always, like
- 0:16Speaker 1: since I've been in school, I've said Grazaday because you
- 0:18Speaker 1: can't expect people to add that much pronunciation.
- 0:21Speaker 2: The next movie press run?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We'll get more aggressive with the pronunciation.
- 0:25Speaker 3: We'll get a little more aggressive. Let's make it what
- 0:26Speaker 3: people expect right now.
- 0:28Speaker 2: All right, we're going to get started. Everyone, welcome back.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Joey Krause is here.
- 0:32Speaker 3: What an intro. Hi, guys.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Hello.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I feel like so much has happened since the last
- 0:41Speaker 4: time we saw you.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The last time I saw you, if I can remember correct,
- 0:43Speaker 1: was during Still the Dance with the Stars season, right?
- 0:46Speaker 5: With Jenna.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Okay, so we were in the thick of it. It
- 0:48Speaker 1: was me and Jenna here. We were talking about stuff. Okay,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I thought that was the case, but It feels like
- 0:53Speaker 1: forever ago, but also not that long ago. So I
- 0:56Speaker 1: had to get the timeline figured out in my head.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Because yes, a lot has happened.
- 0:59Speaker 2: A lot.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Including you've, well, I don't know how much you can
- 1:04Speaker 4: talk about Your next reality show debut.
- 1:07Speaker 5: Yes, yes.
- 1:07Speaker 4: But you won Dancing with the Stars after we had
- 1:10Speaker 4: that podcast.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Which was incredible.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I'm the luckiest guy.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I honestly still don't really comprehend the fact that I
- 1:18Speaker 1: won that show, but very grateful for it.
- 1:20Speaker 2: You re-proposed to Kelsey.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:22Speaker 2: On your own terms, which I love.
- 1:24Speaker 3: It was the best.
- 1:25Speaker 4: You're on another reality show coming up, Traitors.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:30Speaker 2: You hosted the Dancing with the Stars podcast last season.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I did.
- 1:34Speaker 2: And now you are in a movie as an actor.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I am.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Now you guys, when you say it like that, it
- 1:40Speaker 1: sounds like I've been very busy. I've been trying to
- 1:42Speaker 1: be busy.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like so busy. When they said that you
- 1:45Speaker 5: were coming on, I'm like, oh my gosh, we have
- 1:46Speaker 5: so much to cover. I don't even know where to start.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'm open to talk about whatever you want.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Okay, hold on. So we both watched the movie.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 5: And we're going to get into it because I'm obsessed
- 1:57Speaker 5: also with Jamie Chung.
- 1:58Speaker 3: She's the best.
- 1:59Speaker 5: I've loved her since she was on The Real World.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Do you know she was on The Real World?
- 2:02Speaker 1: I didn't know until I got to filming, which was
- 2:06Speaker 1: honestly the best thing possible because she understood what it was.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Like to come from reality and try to start doing scripted.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And she loves acting, loves the art of it. So
- 2:17Speaker 1: as someone that was like, trying to come in and
- 2:19Speaker 1: take it very serious, but also knew it was going
- 2:20Speaker 1: to be kind of trial by fire because it was
- 2:22Speaker 1: my first experience and to be in that position and
- 2:25Speaker 1: have that much to do, it was just really nice
- 2:27Speaker 1: to have someone that was like your security blanket to
- 2:30Speaker 1: help you through it that also understood where you were
- 2:32Speaker 1: coming from.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Can I ask, did any of you watch Real World? No,
- 2:36Speaker 2: just me.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Okay, okay. Because I'm like, there's like two types of millennials.
- 2:39Speaker 5: There's like the real world people and like the Disney people.
- 2:42Speaker 5: I was like the real world person.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I think it's a great show. I mean, I get it.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It kind of was the OG of a lot of
- 2:48Speaker 1: the other shows that built off of it. So, obviously
- 2:51Speaker 1: did very well.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Have you wanted to pursue acting for a while? Was
- 2:55Speaker 4: this an offer that came out of nowhere? Was it
- 2:57Speaker 4: something you were seeking?
- 2:58Speaker 2: I'm so curious about how this came about.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I would say it's somewhere in the middle.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It definitely wasn't something I was actively looking for at
- 3:04Speaker 1: the time, but it was something I was open to.
- 3:07Speaker 1: My first chance of doing it was actually playing myself
- 3:10Speaker 1: on 9-1-1. I played Joey the Bachelor, and they had
- 3:14Speaker 1: that crazy opening scene where a girl glues herself to
- 3:17Speaker 1: the driveway, and it was one of those things that
- 3:18Speaker 1: I finally got to see what it was like to
- 3:20Speaker 1: be on a set.
- 3:21Speaker 3: And It was so different. Immediately, I was like, okay,
- 3:24Speaker 3: there are similarities, but it is so much.
- 3:27Speaker 1: More different angles, different moments, people actually having to hit
- 3:31Speaker 1: your lines, doing a lot of takes of the same thing,
- 3:34Speaker 1: where in reality, it was just usually the cameras are
- 3:36Speaker 1: in the background, and you're just kind of doing you,
- 3:38Speaker 1: and you're just trying to find your way through whatever
- 3:41Speaker 1: experience you're doing in reality. So I was open to
- 3:44Speaker 1: it because I thought it was so fun, but I
- 3:46Speaker 1: just didn't really put a lot of effort into it
- 3:48Speaker 1: until this opportunity came along and it just seemed like
- 3:51Speaker 1: a no-brainer and something I was so excited about. And
- 3:54Speaker 1: I'm grateful to Roku for giving me the opportunity to
- 3:56Speaker 1: actually dive into this because it was so much fun.
- 3:58Speaker 5: You're really good in it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Again, fake it till you make it.
- 4:04Speaker 3: That's how I've been living my life.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So I think it's working out so far.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Okay, so The Holiday Spark, that's the movie we're talking about.
- 4:10Speaker 5: It premieres on the Roku channel on November 2nd. Tell
- 4:14Speaker 5: me how to find the Roku channel.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I mean, for me, Roku channel is in, when I
- 4:19Speaker 1: thought of Roku initially, everyone has those TVs, right? And
- 4:22Speaker 1: the Roku stick, but there's so many ways to be
- 4:24Speaker 1: able to get onto the Roku channel. I just think
- 4:26Speaker 1: people have to actively look for it. I think most
- 4:29Speaker 1: people might not even know that their TV, they can
- 4:31Speaker 1: just go onto the Roku channel on the home spring
- 4:33Speaker 1: on the home screen and they'll see it pop up
- 4:36Speaker 1: as a widget. And I'm, I'm excited to kind of
- 4:38Speaker 1: see that starting to get promoted as it comes to
- 4:39Speaker 1: that time. But Anyone can stream it. It's free streaming
- 4:42Speaker 1: for anyone. You just got to look up the Veroku
- 4:44Speaker 1: channel and hopefully you'll see my face on there.
- 4:46Speaker 5: It's a good movie.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I love that. Thank you.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I like love.
- 4:51Speaker 5: It's so layered because it's like obviously it's a rom-com,
- 4:54Speaker 5: but also like it's about you guys discovering yourselves and
- 4:57Speaker 5: like being good with yourselves before... I don't want to
- 5:00Speaker 5: give any spoilers away. But okay, so you're engaged. You're
- 5:03Speaker 5: engaged to Kelsey that you met on The Bachelor. Now
- 5:05Speaker 5: you're doing a movie, a rom-com. Was she like.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I talked to her about it first. She was very
- 5:11Speaker 3: cool about it.
- 5:12Speaker 1: When the opportunity came my way, I was like, okay,
- 5:15Speaker 1: another great opportunity, but I need to first and foremost
- 5:19Speaker 1: talk to my partner and see if it's something that
- 5:21Speaker 1: they would be okay with because we both have said
- 5:23Speaker 1: we had interest in going into scripted, but it's like, yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 1: it's me playing a role with someone else building chemistry.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And I knew it was going to stay fully professional
- 5:32Speaker 1: as it would, but I'm not going to just like
- 5:33Speaker 1: do it without talking through it.
- 5:35Speaker 3: But she was so supportive.
- 5:37Speaker 1: She immediately told me like, Hey, I think it could
- 5:40Speaker 1: be something you could be great at.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I think it's something you could fully commit to.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And then she made the joke of like, I've seen
- 5:44Speaker 1: you kiss plenty of other women on TV. If you
- 5:47Speaker 1: think an acting role is going to change anything, we
- 5:50Speaker 1: need to reevaluate what we started with.
- 5:51Speaker 3: So she was the one that made that joke. And
- 5:53Speaker 3: I was like, cool. Just wanted to make sure. But yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 3: it is just acting.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And yeah, it was funny because it does feel like
- 6:00Speaker 1: at moments it was getting back into The Bachelor because
- 6:03Speaker 1: there's romantic scenes, there's moments, but then it's so different
- 6:06Speaker 1: because it's just professional.
- 6:07Speaker 3: It's someone that you're working with.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And I thought it was so cool to marry what
- 6:11Speaker 1: you felt on the show, but then now live in
- 6:14Speaker 1: the character and try to make it feel as real
- 6:16Speaker 1: as it did when it was on The Bachelor.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And I won't lie.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Like I had moments where I was like, I've been
- 6:20Speaker 1: here before. This is a one-on-one with Kelsey. I am
- 6:22Speaker 1: locked in right now, but it was in a scripted position.
- 6:25Speaker 1: So then it's trying to find a way to have
- 6:27Speaker 1: the character navigate how they would do it.
- 6:28Speaker 5: But I wonder if it probably helps that you're like lead,
- 6:33Speaker 5: the lead woman, Jamie Chung is also like happily married.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 6:37Speaker 1: I mean, I think anytime people do a movie with
- 6:39Speaker 1: a co-lead, they always try to see if they have
- 6:41Speaker 1: chemistry and how they flow together. And luckily Jamie and
- 6:44Speaker 1: I like, From the beginning, her being so open and
- 6:47Speaker 1: honest with me about what the experience would be like
- 6:49Speaker 1: and helped me through it.
- 6:50Speaker 3: We just created trust.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Right away and had a very good working relationship where
- 6:55Speaker 1: It did feel like it flowed and we had great
- 6:56Speaker 1: chemistry on screen because we had fun working together. But yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: as always, I mean, when you do something with someone,
- 7:02Speaker 1: you want them to understand where you're coming from, your background.
- 7:05Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that have seen me go
- 7:07Speaker 1: and do other things and they always go, well, that's
- 7:09Speaker 1: not Kelsey. How dare you go do something with someone else?
- 7:12Speaker 1: But that's our lives. Like we're going to keep doing
- 7:14Speaker 1: our own things and supporting each other. It's going to
- 7:17Speaker 1: be interesting to see people see me in another role.
- 7:20Speaker 1: and have some type of romantic interest with someone other
- 7:22Speaker 1: than Kelsey. But I'm hoping they can see it and
- 7:25Speaker 1: realize like this is something he wants to look into
- 7:28Speaker 1: and she's being supportive of it. And I think it's
- 7:30Speaker 1: going to be cool to see the reaction, how people feel.
- 7:33Speaker 1: But Kelsey and I got a chance to sit down
- 7:34Speaker 1: and watch it and she loved it. So that's all
- 7:36Speaker 1: I know.
- 7:36Speaker 3: And that was fun.
- 7:37Speaker 5: I give her mad props. I would never be able
- 7:40Speaker 5: to watch my husband do Dancing with the Stars or
- 7:42Speaker 5: a love scene in a movie. It takes a strong,
- 7:45Speaker 5: I think, people to be in the show business. Kelsey's
- 7:47Speaker 5: like America's sweetheart, though.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Kelsey's like, I'm good.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I think from the beginning, like you said, it isn't
- 7:55Speaker 1: a usual situation for people to be in a relationship.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But we were lucky that our foundation was built off
- 8:00Speaker 1: of people seeing and peeking into it and having their opinions.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So we've spent a lot of time building our own
- 8:06Speaker 1: foundation of just being confident in who we are and
- 8:09Speaker 1: what we're doing and the outside world will have their opinions.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But I'm hoping people can watch this and just appreciate
- 8:15Speaker 1: it for the movie and throw jokes, throw digs at
- 8:18Speaker 1: the fact that like it's not Kelsey, but also be
- 8:20Speaker 1: excited to see me do something new and something that
- 8:23Speaker 1: I was really putting a lot of energy and effort into.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I'm sure Kelsey will have her fun with it.
- 8:27Speaker 1: There is zero doubts that people can expect Kelsey to
- 8:30Speaker 1: throw some shade at me in my first acting opportunity.
- 8:33Speaker 3: That is just natural. It's who she is. If it
- 8:35Speaker 3: doesn't come, I'd be like, did you actually watch the movie? Like,
- 8:38Speaker 3: what's going on here?
- 8:40Speaker 4: I am curious, as the lead of The Bachelor, I've
- 8:42Speaker 4: always wondered, because there has to be an element, because...
- 8:46Speaker 4: You're dating 30 women or 20, whatever it was.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And you're having.
- 8:52Speaker 4: To go on dates and interact with people where you
- 8:54Speaker 4: know you're not feeling the connection. But for the TV
- 8:56Speaker 4: purpose and the storylines of it all, there is an
- 9:00Speaker 4: element of... not acting, but almost acting where you're having to,
- 9:03Speaker 4: you know, I always go back to my season and
- 9:06Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, Ben must have been acting here because
- 9:08Speaker 4: I know I was not getting the same attention the other.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Girls were getting. But there is like an element.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Of that that maybe you're able to channel like, okay,
- 9:18Speaker 4: I can act a little bit.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in a way, I wouldn't call anything
- 9:22Speaker 1: that happened on The Bachelor as acting. I would say
- 9:24Speaker 1: it was more getting comfortable with someone on camera and
- 9:28Speaker 1: like creating some type of rapport that we can flow
- 9:31Speaker 1: and have good conversation and make it very enjoyable for
- 9:35Speaker 1: a viewer to watch because we're just naturally creating a
- 9:38Speaker 1: safe space. I think that has probably transferred over to
- 9:41Speaker 1: doing something like acting where you try to have an
- 9:45Speaker 1: ability with your co-lead to like make them feel seen,
- 9:47Speaker 1: make them enjoy being with you and diving into a character.
- 9:51Speaker 1: That's the only thing I could think that would be
- 9:53Speaker 1: transferable because there were moments on the show where I
- 9:56Speaker 1: could tell it wasn't getting there maybe.
- 9:58Speaker 5: With a girl.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Wanted them to feel seen and loved and heard when
- 10:02Speaker 1: we were having conversations and make them like feel like
- 10:05Speaker 1: they could be themselves and I think that was weird
- 10:08Speaker 1: when I started acting I was like Of course, we're
- 10:10Speaker 1: not together, but chemistry is someone feeling comfortable and feeling
- 10:13Speaker 1: like they can just dive into what they're supposed to
- 10:15Speaker 1: do in that scene. And I think that's the one
- 10:18Speaker 1: thing I've taken from it that has flowed into it
- 10:20Speaker 1: is just like, yeah, creating a warm space for someone
- 10:23Speaker 1: just to kind of do what they're supposed to do.
- 10:25Speaker 1: So that was interesting that there was this familiarity of
- 10:28Speaker 1: both of those, but. I do have to admit, like,
- 10:30Speaker 1: I never acted. That was a different part of, like,
- 10:33Speaker 1: knowing you have lines in the back of your head,
- 10:35Speaker 1: knowing that you have to be giving some type of emotion,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and sometimes it did feel like it was a date,
- 10:40Speaker 1: or it did feel like it was just a walk
- 10:41Speaker 1: and talk down the street, which I did on The Bachelor,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but you're still thinking through it so differently, and it
- 10:47Speaker 1: is crazy that there were similarities, but definitely a lot
- 10:49Speaker 1: of differences.
- 10:49Speaker 2: You're so... You're such a nice guy.
- 10:52Speaker 3: You're so.
- 10:53Speaker 2: You're so good. I know, you're very beloved. Like, you're genuinely, like,
- 10:55Speaker 2: very good.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And I do wonder.
- 10:58Speaker 4: If that was an advantage you had or a detriment
- 11:03Speaker 4: to your Traders experiment?
- 11:05Speaker 1: I would love to sit here and give you guys
- 11:07Speaker 1: so much info on Traders because it was the best
- 11:10Speaker 1: thing ever. We're allowed to talk about the fact that
- 11:13Speaker 1: I'm going on it, but that show, it was unbelievable.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I just can't share anything about what happened on it
- 11:19Speaker 1: until it gets closer.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Right, because it's.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Wrapped, but the season airs. When does it come out?
- 11:24Speaker 1: It's going to be sometime next year. Yeah, it'll be
- 11:26Speaker 1: sometime next year, but... That show, as everyone knows, is
- 11:30Speaker 1: a cultural movement. People are so excited about it. And
- 11:33Speaker 1: because of that, like we can't talk about it until
- 11:35Speaker 1: the time is right.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And I'm going to be with you guys.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It kills me that I can't like, I want to
- 11:40Speaker 1: talk about how amazing that show was, but it's just
- 11:42Speaker 1: one of those things.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm, I'm tongue-tied right now. I can't tell
- 11:45Speaker 3: you how great it was.
- 11:46Speaker 5: That's fine. You don't have to talk about what happens.
- 11:48Speaker 5: But were you like a fan of the show?
- 11:50Speaker 3: That I can tell you, yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Did you watch the UK, USA, is it Netherlands?
- 11:56Speaker 1: I think it's been all over now. And I think,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I forget where it started, but it might have been
- 12:00Speaker 1: Netherlands is actually where it started.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Did you do your research before going on?
- 12:03Speaker 1: I didn't do my research other than that I was
- 12:06Speaker 1: a fan. That was all I did was I realized...
- 12:09Speaker 1: going into that experience from doing bachelorette, from doing bachelor,
- 12:13Speaker 1: from doing dance with the stars. I knew of those
- 12:15Speaker 1: shows and I knew what the format was, but I
- 12:17Speaker 1: actually wasn't an avid watcher. Like my sisters and my
- 12:21Speaker 1: mom watched those shows and I knew of them because
- 12:23Speaker 1: of them, but I wasn't like tuning in every single week.
- 12:26Speaker 3: The last few seasons of traders, I was tuning in.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Like I wanted to know what was happening every week.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So when I went through that experience, it was so
- 12:33Speaker 1: different where I had kind of like pinch me moments
- 12:35Speaker 1: where I was like, Oh, I'm I'm on a show
- 12:37Speaker 1: that I've like literally love and have watched and I
- 12:40Speaker 1: learned to love the other shows. But this one was
- 12:42Speaker 1: like so different that I did have some background of
- 12:44Speaker 1: like watching it on my couch as a fan.
- 12:46Speaker 3: And now I was like in the experience. So that
- 12:49Speaker 3: was really, really cool.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Did any of the other bachelors like Wells or Pilot Pete?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Wells was on for two seconds.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Did they give you any advice? He might have good
- 12:57Speaker 5: advice being that he was on it for two seconds.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Wells' advice was don't be on it for two seconds.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That was his advice. He's like do better than me. No,
- 13:03Speaker 1: I sadly didn't get a chance to connect with Ari
- 13:05Speaker 1: and Pete before.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Ari.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Because also you have to know when you get that
- 13:09Speaker 1: opportunity on the show you're not supposed to be letting
- 13:11Speaker 1: people know you're going on the.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Show they keep it very like.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Tight knit luckily well it's just someone because we live
- 13:16Speaker 1: in LA we hang out together all the time and
- 13:19Speaker 1: he was asking me to like go on a golf
- 13:20Speaker 1: trip and I was like hey man I'm gonna be
- 13:22Speaker 1: out of town he's like where are you gonna be
- 13:23Speaker 1: I was like I'm gonna go to Scotland he's like
- 13:25Speaker 1: I know what's happening we need to talk so that
- 13:27Speaker 1: was the only reason why I had any conversation with
- 13:29Speaker 1: someone from that experience but Mostly, like I said, this is,
- 13:34Speaker 1: it was such a crazy experience because it felt like
- 13:35Speaker 1: I was going back to my bachelorette days of, I
- 13:38Speaker 1: can't say anything.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:39Speaker 1: This is something that is new to me. I experienced,
- 13:42Speaker 1: but like, I have to stay hush right now. And
- 13:44Speaker 1: I'm mad with you guys. I want to be able
- 13:45Speaker 1: to talk about it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: We get it. We're not the podcast that's going to
- 13:47Speaker 2: try and trick you.
- 13:48Speaker 5: We're not like trying to whatever. But we're just like
- 13:51Speaker 5: everything that you do, we're obsessed with. Like Dancing with
- 13:54Speaker 5: the Stars, check. Traders, check.
- 13:56Speaker 2: You're getting married. We love.
- 13:57Speaker 5: You're in a holiday rom-com. I mean, everything you're doing
- 14:01Speaker 5: is like what we love to talk about.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I think we have similar interests and we're enjoying that
- 14:04Speaker 1: we get to go through this together.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Yeah. By the way, before we move on from Traders.
- 14:08Speaker 2: No, I'm not moving on. Oh, okay.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Michelle from Survivor.
- 14:11Speaker 3: She's amazing. Michelle's unbelievable.
- 14:13Speaker 5: She's been away for a long time. She won Survivor
- 14:16Speaker 5: a long time ago. So I am so excited to
- 14:19Speaker 5: see her back.
- 14:20Speaker 3: She's the best.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I was going to ask about the cast because the
- 14:22Speaker 4: cast was released. We know who's on the show. But
- 14:25Speaker 4: was there anyone when you... Did you know anyone else
- 14:28Speaker 4: who was going on or did you meet everyone once
- 14:29Speaker 4: you got there?
- 14:30Speaker 3: No, you go there and you don't really know much
- 14:32Speaker 3: when you get there.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So there was obviously people I've known before from doing
- 14:36Speaker 1: different things, which was cool to see some familiar faces.
- 14:38Speaker 3: But also.
- 14:39Speaker 1: There was more people you didn't know. And the cast
- 14:41Speaker 1: is amazing this year. Again, all I can say is, like,
- 14:44Speaker 1: people need to watch it. It's just going to be
- 14:46Speaker 1: an amazing season.
- 14:47Speaker 3: We have a great group of people. And I'm really
- 14:48Speaker 3: excited to watch it back myself.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Like, I'm excited to see what happens because it's one
- 14:52Speaker 1: of those things when you're in it, you know your story.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You don't get to see it from everyone else's point
- 14:57Speaker 1: of view. So I'm just excited to watch it back.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I'm excited. We're very excited.
- 15:02Speaker 5: I've watched every single season like multiple times. It's like sick.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I have an obsession.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah. She does.
- 15:07Speaker 2: She goes deep.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I go deep.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I want to talk about Dancing with the Stars.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Because I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I felt like your season specifically, it was kind of
- 15:34Speaker 4: a season that really brought people.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Into the show and made it almost like.
- 15:40Speaker 4: I've always felt like it's had a huge fan base,
- 15:42Speaker 4: but I do feel like that season was a turning
- 15:44Speaker 4: point for the show a little bit where a lot
- 15:46Speaker 4: of younger people started tuning in and it just almost
- 15:49Speaker 4: felt like with TikTok and everything, it kind of had its.
- 15:53Speaker 2: It really grew. And it was so positive.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I felt like there was so much joy and excitement
- 15:58Speaker 4: around it. And I feel like this season, there's been
- 16:01Speaker 4: a little bit of.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Negativity and.
- 16:06Speaker 4: criticism and tension and I'm wondering how it's felt for
- 16:09Speaker 4: you to see that from the outside having done it
- 16:12Speaker 4: and had such a wonderful experience.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah I mean it's no surprise I've always spoke so
- 16:17Speaker 1: highly on my experience of Dancing with the Stars because
- 16:19Speaker 1: it opened up a new world for me gave me
- 16:21Speaker 1: like the best experience ever to just put your head
- 16:24Speaker 1: down and try to do something as niche as ballroom
- 16:26Speaker 1: dancing on live television for two months like the idea
- 16:29Speaker 1: of the show to me is so loving and fun
- 16:33Speaker 1: and friendly and exciting because you get to put someone
- 16:36Speaker 1: that's never been in this situation into a ballroom and
- 16:40Speaker 1: see how they handle pressure. And at the end of
- 16:42Speaker 1: the day, we're dancing with rhinestones and sparkles to hit
- 16:48Speaker 1: pop songs and doing a classical style of dance. Like
- 16:52Speaker 1: the idea of it, when you put it on paper,
- 16:54Speaker 1: they even talk about it. The execs do from the show.
- 16:57Speaker 1: If you look at it, you're like, this is the
- 16:58Speaker 1: most ridiculous idea ever. Like, how is this going to
- 17:00Speaker 1: be successful? But it works because there's something about it
- 17:03Speaker 1: that is so inviting.
- 17:05Speaker 3: And I think you're right. I was so lucky.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Our season started to bring a really big online presence.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think that had to do with Riley the year before.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I think it had to do with Alona on our season,
- 17:15Speaker 1: me coming off from starting to be active on socials.
- 17:18Speaker 1: We just had a lot of people that knew how
- 17:20Speaker 1: to bring in a younger audience. And the show was
- 17:23Speaker 1: so grateful for that. And it's compounded. The next year,
- 17:26Speaker 1: having someone like Alex Earl, having someone like Dylan Efron,
- 17:28Speaker 1: having these people that, and Jordan Childs, like so many
- 17:31Speaker 1: people that were so great at bringing more online presence.
- 17:34Speaker 1: This is just sadly what comes with it, that when
- 17:37Speaker 1: people are online, no matter what comment section you go on,
- 17:40Speaker 1: if it's your biggest star, your biggest fan that you
- 17:43Speaker 1: want to watch, they're going to have negativity in there.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And how I've been taking it is it is getting lost.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I think the plot sometimes, I wish it did stick
- 17:50Speaker 1: and focus on how great and fun the experience is.
- 17:54Speaker 3: But with more viewers comes more criticism.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And I think that is the beauty of the show
- 18:00Speaker 1: where people do have opinions, but I hope that we
- 18:02Speaker 1: can continue to focus on the good parts of it and, and,
- 18:05Speaker 1: and trying to see how, how fun it can be
- 18:08Speaker 1: for someone. My favorite comment that I've seen so far,
- 18:10Speaker 1: my favorite, I guess, um, person that posts about it
- 18:13Speaker 1: was Harry Trump gave a, like when it was at
- 18:16Speaker 1: its highest, I feel like, and there was a lot
- 18:17Speaker 1: of parody. He just made a post saying everything he
- 18:20Speaker 1: loved about every contestant that.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Was on the show. And I thought that was perfect.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I thought that was a good way to at least
- 18:26Speaker 1: let it be known that, yeah, we are seeing there's
- 18:28Speaker 1: maybe more criticism we've seen in the past, but let's
- 18:30Speaker 1: maybe shift our focus to on the good stuff. And
- 18:33Speaker 1: I have nothing but utter faith the show will continue
- 18:36Speaker 1: to push that and they will find their way through
- 18:38Speaker 1: maybe some of this, yeah, discourse or negativity that's come
- 18:41Speaker 1: in recently, but- I just know that the people that
- 18:44Speaker 1: are putting it on, the people that are in it,
- 18:46Speaker 1: have the best intentions that it will push through whatever
- 18:49Speaker 1: has been kind of being maybe a little.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Bit of negativity.
- 18:51Speaker 5: I mean, even the best of us are feeding into it. Like,
- 18:53Speaker 5: I get really heated.
- 18:54Speaker 3: About— Because you care, and that's great.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Yeah, so people are like— well, I mean, he's gone now, Guillermo. But, like,
- 19:00Speaker 5: they were, like, bashing him all the time. And I'm like,
- 19:01Speaker 5: it's not called— the best dancing star. It's like dancing
- 19:04Speaker 5: with the stars and he's entertaining us. So leave him alone.
- 19:07Speaker 1: You can't watch that show and see that Guillermo had
- 19:10Speaker 1: a place on that show and was maybe one of
- 19:11Speaker 1: the best.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Parts of every week.
- 19:12Speaker 5: But people were so mad that he kept staying. And
- 19:15Speaker 5: I'm like, get a life.
- 19:16Speaker 1: There is always going to be people that are non-dancers,
- 19:20Speaker 1: people that have dance experience, and maybe people that are
- 19:22Speaker 1: incapable of getting to a certain level and a certain point.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That is part of, like, they do that on purpose.
- 19:28Speaker 1: That is part of what the show is. You're supposed
- 19:30Speaker 1: to have the judges in the fandom not always agree.
- 19:32Speaker 1: You're supposed to have people that are your favorites and
- 19:34Speaker 1: people you're like, I just don't know how they're still here.
- 19:37Speaker 1: If there was no discourse or people that are changing opinions,
- 19:41Speaker 1: then you would just leave there being like, well, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: know what's going to happen every week. Like that is
- 19:45Speaker 1: what is good about reality TV. And I hope people
- 19:48Speaker 1: can see that and start to like enjoy. it and
- 19:50Speaker 1: have your opinions but stay kind that's always what I
- 19:52Speaker 1: push is just stay kind.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Do you still keep in touch with Jenna Johnson?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Of course I do. How would you not keep in
- 19:57Speaker 3: touch with Jenna?
- 19:58Speaker 5: Is she going to choreograph your first dance with your fiancé?
- 20:01Speaker 3: We need to clear this up, too.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I hope that Jenna and Val will be involved somehow
- 20:06Speaker 1: in our dance and making us look better. But, like,
- 20:08Speaker 1: people think I'm going to do, like, an Argentine tango or, like,
- 20:12Speaker 1: going to do some type of samba.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Like, it's a slow dance.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm also not going to be worried about my elbows
- 20:17Speaker 1: in frame with Kelsey while we're dancing.
- 20:19Speaker 4: No, no.
- 20:20Speaker 5: No, but you're going to want to like make it nice.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I think we'll have definitely some tips and some help
- 20:24Speaker 1: to make it smooth. But also like the more I
- 20:26Speaker 1: thought about it and when people bring it up, I
- 20:28Speaker 1: think they really like think it's going to be like
- 20:29Speaker 1: a spectacle.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I can promise you it is not.
- 20:31Speaker 1: It's going to be an intimate moment where we picked
- 20:34Speaker 1: a song that we're so excited about that we're going
- 20:36Speaker 1: to dance to and just be able to like that's
- 20:38Speaker 1: I think of that moment is like that is a
- 20:40Speaker 1: moment that is just you two and you get to
- 20:42Speaker 1: enjoy the space together. And the last thing I want
- 20:44Speaker 1: is to have choreography that we have to think about
- 20:46Speaker 1: because I don't want to put that on Kelsey. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: don't know what her ability is still. I have not
- 20:50Speaker 1: seen her in those stressful moments. I want that to
- 20:52Speaker 1: be a special moment. So we will take tips. And
- 20:55Speaker 1: if Jenna and Val want to continue to help, we
- 20:57Speaker 1: will obviously take a dance class with them. But no
- 21:00Speaker 1: Argentine tangles will be happening.
- 21:01Speaker 5: As somebody who had a first dance, I wish... I
- 21:04Speaker 5: just felt like we were just standing there moving side
- 21:06Speaker 5: to side.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 5: I wish we had like a twirl or like some
- 21:09Speaker 5: sort of a dip or some sort of.
- 21:10Speaker 4: We need moves.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I think you need to have.
- 21:12Speaker 1: There won't be a lift because we don't need Carrie
- 21:14Speaker 1: Ann commenting on that either.
- 21:16Speaker 3: But no, I'm kidding.
- 21:17Speaker 1: We just need to find a way to have some
- 21:19Speaker 1: type of movements that flow. Then you go back to
- 21:23Speaker 1: your safe space of just kind of swaying through the
- 21:25Speaker 1: dance floor.
- 21:26Speaker 3: But no, I've seen actually... You know who would.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Danny and Pasha teach those classes, did a while ago,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and they're, like, free time. And they have, if you
- 21:33Speaker 1: look on their Instagram sometimes, they, like, will do, like,
- 21:36Speaker 1: these are the four dance moves you should do with
- 21:38Speaker 1: your significant other, and they have it down.
- 21:40Speaker 3: It's, like, very easy, but also very simplistic.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Right.
- 21:44Speaker 3: It doesn't look like it's showman in any way.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 21:46Speaker 1: But it's also a really nice touch. And then you
- 21:48Speaker 1: just go right back to a normal hold after. So
- 21:50Speaker 1: we will find ways to add those, whether it's going
- 21:52Speaker 1: to be Jenna, Val, Danny, and Pasha.
- 21:54Speaker 3: I have a lot of pros at my disposal that
- 21:57Speaker 3: I'm friends with. You think I'm not asking them questions
- 21:59Speaker 3: when it comes that time? Of course I will.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I want the Tarzan dance.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that was the first thing Kelsey said.
- 22:06Speaker 1: She's like, if we are going to start getting choreographed,
- 22:08Speaker 1: then you better believe that we're throwing the samba out there.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And I don't think I could do that dance again.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I don't even remember how to do a promenade run.
- 22:15Speaker 3: It's in my head.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I know what it was, but that, yeah, that dance
- 22:18Speaker 1: was so fun and I just don't think I need
- 22:19Speaker 1: to be in a loincloth and shirtless at my wedding.
- 22:22Speaker 5: But speaking of your Rolodex, I feel like you have
- 22:24Speaker 5: a lot of friends. She has a lot of friends.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Was making the wedding guest list hard?
- 22:28Speaker 1: It's still in the process. Like we've sent out all
- 22:31Speaker 1: the stated dates. We're getting on our invites again soon.
- 22:34Speaker 1: And it's just hard because of course we've been so
- 22:37Speaker 1: lucky to be connected with so many amazing people.
- 22:39Speaker 3: And I want everyone to be there and share that moment.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But the place that we chose does have a strict
- 22:44Speaker 1: number on certain aspects of what we're going to be doing.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And Yeah, all I can say is I want everyone there.
- 22:49Speaker 3: It's just I can't. What's the cap?
- 22:52Speaker 1: Right now, I think we're getting closer to... I can't
- 22:54Speaker 1: even tell you the cap because I think we're trying
- 22:56Speaker 1: to adjust it. But it's like somewhere... We're in the
- 22:58Speaker 1: 200 range is where we're at. So it's not like
- 23:00Speaker 1: it's crazy.
- 23:01Speaker 5: It's like the space.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Can only hold so many people.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I didn't realize the amount of logistics that go into
- 23:05Speaker 1: planning a wedding. And yeah, there's still some numbers that
- 23:08Speaker 1: I think we want to have as many people there
- 23:10Speaker 1: as possible.
- 23:10Speaker 4: But.
- 23:11Speaker 3: sadly it doesn't doesn't work that.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Way 200 comes at you fast it does especially we
- 23:15Speaker 1: have big families and we have like obviously friends I've
- 23:17Speaker 1: lived all over I got friends from Hawaii Nashville Philly
- 23:21Speaker 1: and now LA we've obviously met so many amazing people
- 23:24Speaker 1: and now what we do so it's tough like the
- 23:26Speaker 1: list was not easy to to get to that number
- 23:29Speaker 1: but it's it's evolving I would say that's why we get.
- 23:31Speaker 4: The invites out Who's been more into the details of
- 23:34Speaker 4: the wedding planning? Has it been an equal shared or
- 23:38Speaker 4: has Kelsey been like, I'll take it on in you?
- 23:40Speaker 1: She says I'm the one that does the most, which
- 23:42Speaker 1: I think is surprising because I think I'm just I'm there.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I'm active. I'm involved.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But I think for me, all the stuff we've been
- 23:50Speaker 1: doing so far has been more, like I said, logistical,
- 23:53Speaker 1: bigger things that we have to figure out. from venue
- 23:57Speaker 1: to decisions that are going to be, I think, in
- 23:59Speaker 1: terms of the budget. I've been very involved in that
- 24:01Speaker 1: side of it because I feel like I need to
- 24:03Speaker 1: know how much we actually are going to be spending
- 24:05Speaker 1: on this. So that I've been very involved in, but
- 24:07Speaker 1: now we're getting into more of those details of like,
- 24:11Speaker 1: what's the place setting going to be?
- 24:13Speaker 3: What's the color? What's the vibe? And I'm just like,
- 24:15Speaker 3: I'm sitting there with like twiddling my thumbs.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Like I don't know anything. And I, they laugh at me.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Our wedding planner, her sometimes when I do add something,
- 24:23Speaker 1: they're like, yeah, that's not going to happen.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Like, you're right. I don't know anything. I'm just trying
- 24:26Speaker 3: to still stay involved.
- 24:27Speaker 5: It's like when Monica and Chandler have like the wedding
- 24:29Speaker 5: binder and she's like, do you want roses or lilies?
- 24:31Speaker 5: And he's like roses. And she's like, Or Lily.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I'm not going to in any way try
- 24:36Speaker 1: to be, I want it to still feel like both
- 24:38Speaker 1: of our days, but I know she's the one that
- 24:40Speaker 1: has taste and she knows what she's doing. I'm just
- 24:42Speaker 1: going to make sure that we are keeping everything in
- 24:45Speaker 1: line and we just want to have a really fun
- 24:46Speaker 1: weekend with our friends and family.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Are you televising your wedding?
- 24:49Speaker 3: No, we are not.
- 24:50Speaker 1: No, we just like when we did the reproposal, like
- 24:53Speaker 1: we want to have this be a moment for us.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Like we know what our base was and what how
- 24:58Speaker 1: we got here. And we're so grateful for it. And
- 24:59Speaker 1: we'll definitely be talked about on that day.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And we'll be grateful for it, too. But yeah, I
- 25:05Speaker 3: like this to be just for us.
- 25:06Speaker 5: So I do think I think if you were to
- 25:08Speaker 5: like televise it, then you'd have like other people's opinions
- 25:11Speaker 5: and other people saying like, oh, you need to do
- 25:13Speaker 5: it this way. And then it just kind of becomes...
- 25:16Speaker 5: It's just.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Part of it, you know?
- 25:17Speaker 1: If you're going to decide to televise it, there needs
- 25:19Speaker 1: to be a production crew. There needs to be certain
- 25:21Speaker 1: things that are locked to how it's going to look.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And it's been a while. The last TV wedding we
- 25:26Speaker 1: had was the Golden Wedding, and I.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Went to it.
- 25:28Speaker 1: So I got to see what it was like, and
- 25:31Speaker 1: I realized quickly, like, I don't think I need this
- 25:33Speaker 1: to be my wedding if we get here one day.
- 25:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Do you have....
- 25:38Speaker 4: Any have you shared anything about are y'all where you're
- 25:41Speaker 4: doing it or.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yeah we we shared uh just a little bit for
- 25:45Speaker 1: it where it's going to be spring of next year
- 25:47Speaker 1: and it's going to be in Louisiana that's all that's
- 25:49Speaker 1: all we've shared so far so yeah it's coming it's
- 25:52Speaker 1: going to be here before we know it I feel
- 25:53Speaker 1: like the date felt very far away and that was
- 25:56Speaker 1: on purpose so we didn't feel like we were rushing
- 25:58Speaker 1: through anything and we continue to ask our wedding planner
- 26:00Speaker 1: like are we still on time because it feels like
- 26:02Speaker 1: it's almost here and he's like no no you're good
- 26:05Speaker 1: we're good we're chugging along so We're still on time.
- 26:08Speaker 1: We're still doing everything the best we can, but I
- 26:10Speaker 1: just can't wait for.
- 26:10Speaker 3: It to be here.
- 26:13Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like America loves you guys so much,
- 26:15Speaker 4: and y'all are so beloved, and y'all are so funny,
- 26:18Speaker 4: and Kelsey's so funny and her running your Instagram while
- 26:21Speaker 4: you were.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Gone was just.
- 26:23Speaker 5: She's doing it now.
- 26:24Speaker 3: No, I'm back. Don't worry.
- 26:26Speaker 1: She still has full autonomy to use it whenever she wants.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I never got the passwords back.
- 26:31Speaker 1: So like just know moving forward that sometimes she might
- 26:35Speaker 1: go rogue and just post something and I'm fully aware
- 26:38Speaker 1: and ready for it. It was actually my idea when
- 26:40Speaker 1: we left because we had something that we had the
- 26:42Speaker 1: joint post. So I knew I need to give her
- 26:43Speaker 1: access to it. And I was like, well, I'm going
- 26:45Speaker 1: to be gone. I don't have access to my phone.
- 26:47Speaker 1: If you want to have fun so my Instagram's just
- 26:49Speaker 1: not dead for a bit, by all means, go ahead.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Did not know what that meant. Did not know what
- 26:53Speaker 1: I opened up. The idea of that casting photo and
- 26:57Speaker 1: how I just looked in it. I did not like
- 27:00Speaker 1: that photo. And she knew I would not like that photo.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And she just ran with it. It just became a
- 27:04Speaker 1: running meme. And good for her. Because, yeah, she's funnier
- 27:08Speaker 1: than I am.
- 27:09Speaker 3: So she knows how to do it.
- 27:10Speaker 5: When The Traitors airs back, are you allowed to have
- 27:12Speaker 5: your phone in post?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Whenever you are done with filming and you come, they
- 27:17Speaker 1: will give you your phone.
- 27:18Speaker 5: Oh, so it was just for the filming that you couldn't.
- 27:19Speaker 1: When you're filming during that entire time, you're off the grid.
- 27:21Speaker 1: You're not allowed to be in any appearances. You're not
- 27:23Speaker 1: allowed to be on your phone just because it's supposed
- 27:26Speaker 1: to be just for the show.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Got it.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I personally didn't see that she had taken over, so
- 27:31Speaker 4: I saw you posting, and I was.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Like, what? Is he good? Like, this is so funny,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but like, what's going on? And then I saw it.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I was like, this makes all the sense.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I thought that was the best part of it is
- 27:41Speaker 1: like half of the people were in the bit.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Half the people weren't.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I think she had like a story takeover she did
- 27:46Speaker 1: with my sister at one time. And then people like, okay,
- 27:48Speaker 1: like she obviously is running his account right now. But
- 27:51Speaker 1: some people miss that. And then, yeah, you know, there's
- 27:53Speaker 1: also like someone that's a little bit older that's following
- 27:56Speaker 1: me that doesn't compute to them.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Like this can only be Joey. But yeah, she's putting
- 28:01Speaker 3: a picture of.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Me napping when I fell asleep on the couch with
- 28:04Speaker 1: the heart bubbles above her. And it's a picture of her.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And it's like dreaming about my fiance as I'm not here.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And people literally would comment being like, this is so
- 28:13Speaker 1: sweet of you, Joey.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I'm like, what?
- 28:14Speaker 3: You really think I would do this? Like, of course
- 28:16Speaker 3: I feel that way, but this is out there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: If you read the fine print, you got to know
- 28:20Speaker 1: this is not me.
- 28:22Speaker 3: But it was awesome.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I mean, I think moving forward, anytime I have to
- 28:25Speaker 1: promote something, Kelsey will probably take over my Instagram.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I think it's going to be a strategy now.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it's very smart.
- 28:30Speaker 4: It works. It's very important that you do that. I
- 28:32Speaker 4: was going to ask about the re-proposing idea. Was that something– like,
- 28:37Speaker 4: obviously when you propose, it's such a whirlwind, and you're still–
- 28:41Speaker 4: I mean, I remember by the end, being in the
- 28:43Speaker 4: final two, I was like, I've barely spent time with
- 28:45Speaker 4: this person. And so you're getting engaged and you are like,
- 28:49Speaker 4: I can't wait for more. But was there always an
- 28:51Speaker 4: idea that you wanted to repropose and do it your way?
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we talked about it right when we got off
- 28:56Speaker 1: the show, just because even from back to the show,
- 29:00Speaker 1: getting proposed in that timeline, in that setting, we wanted
- 29:04Speaker 1: to have strong weight to it. We wanted to explain like, okay,
- 29:07Speaker 1: we don't have to get engaged. We could just end together.
- 29:09Speaker 1: But if we get to this point, do you want to,
- 29:11Speaker 1: what does it mean to you? And we both said
- 29:13Speaker 1: it was a promise to one another that we see
- 29:15Speaker 1: it getting here, but we need to reset when we
- 29:17Speaker 1: get out of it and focus on building a relationship
- 29:19Speaker 1: outside of this experience because this is a bubble. And
- 29:23Speaker 1: then when that happened, we saw other people from the
- 29:27Speaker 1: past in the franchise do that. They decided to get
- 29:30Speaker 1: another ring to kind of re-promise each other. And I
- 29:32Speaker 1: think the biggest thing for Kelsey was I wanted it
- 29:36Speaker 1: to have more weight this time, even without losing the
- 29:39Speaker 1: importance of the other one, because every girl deserves, as
- 29:42Speaker 1: she loved to say, to be in her fiance era.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Like people, I think the only negativity we got from
- 29:47Speaker 1: our post-show time is everyone's like, this is a long engagement.
- 29:50Speaker 3: This is a long engagement. But we talked about that.
- 29:52Speaker 1: But I know as anyone, if you're engage with someone
- 29:55Speaker 1: for three years, like it's going to feel like, man,
- 29:57Speaker 1: like that was a long time.
- 29:59Speaker 3: I wanted that reset for her.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I wanted her to have that ability to not only
- 30:02Speaker 1: pick out a ring that was fully hers and unique
- 30:05Speaker 1: to her, but also like get that excitement of we're,
- 30:08Speaker 1: we're getting married in a year. So the timing was perfect.
- 30:11Speaker 1: It was almost a year in advance of when it
- 30:13Speaker 1: was going to be. And it just was a really
- 30:16Speaker 1: good time to promise one another again, that we see
- 30:18Speaker 1: the same things we did when we got engaged that
- 30:20Speaker 1: day back in Mexico. And We did it again in
- 30:23Speaker 1: a different spot in Mexico. And yeah, it just was
- 30:25Speaker 1: a good reaffirmation for us.
- 30:27Speaker 2: It's so beautiful.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I know we're talking a lot about wedding, but I
- 30:48Speaker 5: feel like, okay, so you have... The holiday spark comes
- 30:51Speaker 5: out in November. Then you have the traders coming out
- 30:53Speaker 5: in January. Then you're getting married sometime in the spring.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Then what's next? What are you focusing on?
- 30:59Speaker 3: I don't know if I can think that much ahead
- 31:00Speaker 3: right now. It's just like six months from now.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You just named like three things that are very important
- 31:04Speaker 1: to me over these next six months. I knew with
- 31:08Speaker 1: a lot of things that were coming through the pipeline
- 31:10Speaker 1: over the last few months from filming this movie back
- 31:13Speaker 1: earlier this year, from getting the opportunity to do Traders,
- 31:16Speaker 1: and most importantly, to continue to focus on planning this
- 31:20Speaker 1: important day for Kelsey and I, like that was where my,
- 31:23Speaker 1: I think normal timeline was ending where let me just
- 31:26Speaker 1: like really focus on getting through this. And then after
- 31:29Speaker 1: it kind of have that shift of, okay, let's also
- 31:32Speaker 1: look back at what happened. How did you feel about
- 31:34Speaker 1: all these different experiences? How did the world look at
- 31:36Speaker 1: these experiences? and then go through what you want to
- 31:39Speaker 1: do next. I am more open than ever right now
- 31:42Speaker 1: that I know I want to continue to do something
- 31:45Speaker 1: in entertainment, but I don't know exactly where it's going
- 31:48Speaker 1: to lead.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I love doing this movie.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I think scripted is something that is so exciting and
- 31:53Speaker 1: so new to me that I fell in love with
- 31:55Speaker 1: the art of it. I fell in love with really
- 31:57Speaker 1: playing a character and trying to make it believable and
- 31:59Speaker 1: honest and still feel like something I could look back
- 32:02Speaker 1: on and be proud of like other things I've done.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I don't know if I got more reality TV than me.
- 32:06Speaker 1: It is a lot to continue to do all these
- 32:08Speaker 1: different shows, but I'm never going to say no to
- 32:10Speaker 1: an experience again that could challenge me like all these have.
- 32:13Speaker 1: And then in terms of Kelsey and I, like, I
- 32:16Speaker 1: just can't wait to take that next step and figure
- 32:19Speaker 1: out what's more going to happen in our lives. Like
- 32:21Speaker 1: that's a person I want to continue to do things
- 32:22Speaker 1: with and continue to experience life with.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And I don't think anything's going to change.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It's just going to be another step towards where we're
- 32:28Speaker 1: going to kind of continue to see ourselves and, And
- 32:31Speaker 1: of course, like we want kids. We want to buy
- 32:33Speaker 1: our first home. We want to take these huge steps.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But as for like personal and professionally, like I am
- 32:38Speaker 1: very open. I loved hosting. I've loved doing new experience
- 32:42Speaker 1: with shows.
- 32:43Speaker 3: And now this idea of scripted is so exciting.
- 32:46Speaker 1: And for Roku to take a chance on me to
- 32:48Speaker 1: actually see what this could be has been really, really
- 32:51Speaker 1: eye opening that it's something I would be.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Open to doing more of.
- 32:54Speaker 5: So where did you film that?
- 32:55Speaker 3: We filmed it in Atlanta.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Okay, what time of year was it?
- 32:58Speaker 3: It was hot.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I don't know if you can believe that it was
- 33:00Speaker 1: cold when we were watching that movie, but it was
- 33:03Speaker 1: being in a full fireman's outfit in April time in Atlanta.
- 33:08Speaker 3: It was steamy.
- 33:10Speaker 1: But it was funny because we had to walk in
- 33:12Speaker 1: scenes and kind of be cold with your hands.
- 33:14Speaker 3: And you're sweating.
- 33:15Speaker 1: It's like 80 degrees outside right now. But it was
- 33:18Speaker 1: really fun. It was a cool experience to go to Atlanta.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I haven't spent a lot of time there. And yeah,
- 33:22Speaker 1: it was a great place to film it.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Would you ever do Special Forces?
- 33:26Speaker 3: I would be open in a way.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Becca's obsessed with this show right now.
- 33:28Speaker 2: She's like, people love it. I love asking people. I
- 33:31Speaker 2: love watching it.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I do, too. I do, too.
- 33:32Speaker 4: But it's such a specific type of reality show. Like,
- 33:36Speaker 4: it's not like, you know, Dancing with the Stars, I think,
- 33:38Speaker 4: is actually very physically demanding. But still, there's like the
- 33:42Speaker 4: element of glam and like you're at home.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I mean, you're in a, you know, comfortable space.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Special forces is so fascinating to me because I'm like,
- 33:50Speaker 4: you're putting people in like the worst condition.
- 33:53Speaker 2: When you're looking at them, they have bug bites all
- 33:55Speaker 2: over them.
- 33:55Speaker 4: And I'm like, obviously it's an opportunity and it's, it's
- 33:59Speaker 4: financially lucrative, but I'm always curious to ask people if
- 34:03Speaker 4: they would be interested.
- 34:04Speaker 3: I usually don't say like no way to anything.
- 34:07Speaker 1: It's not something I think I'm actively looking to do,
- 34:09Speaker 1: but I also don't think it's like an automatic no.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I've had friends that have done it. Tyler has done it.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I've talked to Hannah Brown about doing it. I talked
- 34:17Speaker 1: to Nick Vial about doing it. Like even on our
- 34:20Speaker 1: season of Dancing with the Stars, we had Danny Amendola
- 34:23Speaker 1: and Dwight Howard that did it. And those two didn't
- 34:25Speaker 1: even make it to the end and win. Like the
- 34:27Speaker 1: other three that I talked about, they decided to quit
- 34:30Speaker 1: at a certain point. And they still said it was
- 34:32Speaker 1: an amazing experience. So I think it's one of those
- 34:35Speaker 1: things that you never want to say no. I just
- 34:38Speaker 1: have to be in the right mindset that it's something
- 34:39Speaker 1: I really want to do because if you ever think
- 34:41Speaker 1: about a show that you need to be ready for
- 34:43Speaker 1: or like mentally committed to, that is the show.
- 34:46Speaker 3: You can't go and be like, all right, I'm going
- 34:47Speaker 3: to see how this goes.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Like you're doing some of the most difficult tasks possible
- 34:52Speaker 1: and putting yourself through the ringer. And yeah, I just
- 34:53Speaker 1: would need to be in the headspace and the mindset
- 34:55Speaker 1: that it felt like it was something I really want
- 34:57Speaker 1: to do and haven't gotten to that point yet.
- 34:58Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I also feel like you have to be like, You're
- 35:02Speaker 2: a winner. You're just a winner. You win everything.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Thank you for saying that. You're a winner.
- 35:08Speaker 4: I do think people go on there and they're like,
- 35:10Speaker 4: I'm just going to go get my check because I
- 35:12Speaker 4: think you just kind of get the flat rate to go.
- 35:14Speaker 2: And then after a day or a couple hours, they're like, okay.
- 35:17Speaker 1: My mindset with all of that has been the reason
- 35:19Speaker 1: you're getting a check is because you're supposed to fully
- 35:22Speaker 1: commit to what they're asking you to do and try
- 35:24Speaker 1: to do your best through it. I'm very lucky that
- 35:26Speaker 1: the other experience I've had has gotten me to the
- 35:28Speaker 1: point to actually be successful in it.
- 35:30Speaker 3: But all I know is that if I'm doing something,
- 35:32Speaker 3: I'm doing it full force. I'm committing.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And sometimes to a fault, whatever it's going to be,
- 35:37Speaker 1: I'm going to make sure every day I'm showing up
- 35:39Speaker 1: and giving my all. And that is a very big
- 35:41Speaker 1: ask out of a show like that is to commit
- 35:43Speaker 1: and do it. So I get why people have that mindset,
- 35:46Speaker 1: but if I'm doing something, I'm doing it.
- 35:47Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. That's a show that's hard.
- 35:49Speaker 5: But also like everything that you do, I feel like,
- 35:51Speaker 5: you know, like you're going to shoot a movie in
- 35:53Speaker 5: Atlanta for how long was the shoot?
- 35:55Speaker 3: It was about like a little bit. It was around
- 35:57Speaker 3: a month. It was a pretty quick shoot.
- 35:58Speaker 5: But it's like you go, you do that, you have
- 36:00Speaker 5: to like fully immerse in that. Then you go and
- 36:01Speaker 5: you do Dancing with the Stars. You're dancing every single
- 36:03Speaker 5: day for however many weeks that you last. Then you
- 36:06Speaker 5: go and you do Traitors. You have to like fully
- 36:08Speaker 5: immerse yourself into like this game. It's like a lot
- 36:10Speaker 5: of mental load.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think that's part of the fun
- 36:13Speaker 1: thing like mindset of all these different experiences is you
- 36:16Speaker 1: don't know what it's going to be like.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You go into it. And I love being in uncomfortable situations.
- 36:21Speaker 3: I love learning. I love challenging myself. What's your sign?
- 36:24Speaker 3: I'm a Gemini. Yeah, I know.
- 36:27Speaker 1: That's usually the response I get. She judged me immediately
- 36:29Speaker 1: after that. If you didn't see that.
- 36:31Speaker 5: I watched.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I felt uncomfortable. I think it's fun to continue to
- 36:34Speaker 1: challenge yourself.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I really do. I've enjoyed that.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I don't know why I enjoy doing it while also
- 36:40Speaker 1: millions of people get to judge me as I challenge myself,
- 36:42Speaker 1: but it's worked so far. So I'm going to continue
- 36:45Speaker 1: to be open to experiences and learning from them and
- 36:47Speaker 1: just seeing where they continue to take me.
- 36:49Speaker 4: I'm curious, getting the opportunity to do the traders, because
- 36:53Speaker 4: I know I'm joking about you, but you literally do
- 36:55Speaker 4: win everything. Like, you... Didn't win The Bachelor at, but
- 37:00Speaker 4: you won in a different way because you became The Bachelor.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Got the, everyone's dream girl.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Everyone's dream girl.
- 37:07Speaker 2: You've gone dancing with the stars. You went dancing with
- 37:09Speaker 2: the stars. Going on Traders, did you feel that? Obviously,
- 37:13Speaker 2: we don't know where you landed.
- 37:14Speaker 5: The mojo. The mojo is probably high.
- 37:16Speaker 1: I think all I would say is I've been very like,
- 37:19Speaker 1: I've experienced so much reality that I am very aware
- 37:22Speaker 1: of like, if I'm going to do something. I want
- 37:25Speaker 1: to make sure it's going to fill my cup up
- 37:27Speaker 1: as much as it does theirs. And for traders in general,
- 37:29Speaker 1: I just was excited to go on. So I didn't
- 37:31Speaker 1: really think about what would happen or anything like that.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It just was a show I was really a fan of.
- 37:36Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, we will see if my winning
- 37:38Speaker 1: streak continues. But at the end of the day, it's
- 37:40Speaker 1: just like, it was a really fun experience.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Okay.
- 37:44Speaker 3: I love that. I love you guys trying to get anything.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Out of me.
- 37:47Speaker 3: I'm going to be here.
- 37:48Speaker 5: When it airs and you can talk about it, you
- 37:50Speaker 5: have to come back on because I like.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Love, like love talking about it.
- 37:54Speaker 1: When I am able to start talking about the show,
- 37:57Speaker 1: like I'm really excited to do it because it was
- 37:58Speaker 1: an amazing experience and there is so much to talk
- 38:01Speaker 1: about doing something like that.
- 38:02Speaker 3: So yeah, I'll come back again. You guys, I love
- 38:04Speaker 3: being here.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Just like the headspace. I had lunch with Lisa Rinna
- 38:07Speaker 5: a couple of weeks ago and I was just like, literally,
- 38:08Speaker 5: not just me and her, we were like at a
- 38:10Speaker 5: lunch together. And I was just like, I gave her
- 38:12Speaker 5: a barrage of questions because I was just so fascinated
- 38:15Speaker 5: with the psyche that comes from that show.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It's definitely something that anyone that goes on has something
- 38:20Speaker 1: to say about because you're in a different situation there.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Are you still doing tennis and coaching?
- 38:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a chance to go to the Tennis
- 38:30Speaker 1: Hall of Fame a little bit earlier this year for
- 38:32Speaker 1: Roger Federer's induction, which was really cool. Anytime I get
- 38:35Speaker 1: to do something in that space, it kind of feels
- 38:37Speaker 1: like home. I'll be going to the Bahamas a little
- 38:41Speaker 1: bit later this year to do another tennis pro-am. I
- 38:43Speaker 1: did that last year too. So fun way to like
- 38:45Speaker 1: get on court and just play again. And it's mostly
- 38:48Speaker 1: just friendly. I think my competitive juices don't allow me
- 38:51Speaker 1: to be friendly on the tennis court sometimes.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I want to win still.
- 38:54Speaker 1: But no, I love any time I get the chance
- 38:57Speaker 1: to morph my world with tennis because I do think
- 39:01Speaker 1: it was the catalyst for everything. Like I know I
- 39:04Speaker 1: would not be here today if I wasn't a teaching
- 39:06Speaker 1: tennis pro.
- 39:06Speaker 3: It's just... It opened up a lot of doors for me.
- 39:09Speaker 1: I never thought it would open up the door of
- 39:11Speaker 1: me being on reality TV and being in a movie.
- 39:14Speaker 5: It made you so personable.
- 39:16Speaker 3: I think it just puts you in a situation.
- 39:19Speaker 1: You meet different people. You learn how to communicate with them.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I always said my job as a tennis pro was
- 39:25Speaker 1: be the most fun hour of their day. Like how
- 39:27Speaker 1: can I make when they come on court, live with
- 39:29Speaker 1: it and be like, this was, this was one of
- 39:31Speaker 1: the best things I did today. That's your job in hospitality.
- 39:33Speaker 1: And I loved it and I miss it at times.
- 39:35Speaker 1: So now when I get to play tennis, it kind
- 39:38Speaker 1: of reminds me of that comfort of what my life
- 39:40Speaker 1: was like. Before I got a little crazy recently.
- 39:43Speaker 5: You can always put your kids in tennis.
- 39:44Speaker 3: It will happen. Are you kidding me?
- 39:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, my God.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Again, either boy or girl, they will be playing.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a nice, safe sport, too.
- 39:51Speaker 3: It's great.
- 39:51Speaker 1: No, I think it teaches you a lot of life lessons, too.
- 39:55Speaker 1: You won't meet a tennis player that hasn't quit. Every
- 39:57Speaker 1: tennis player gets to the point where it's such a
- 39:59Speaker 1: grueling sport that at one point they're like, I'm done.
- 40:02Speaker 1: But they always find their way back to it because
- 40:03Speaker 1: there's a love-hate relationship with such an interesting sport like that.
- 40:07Speaker 1: But it gave me a lot.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I can't remember if last time you were here, if
- 40:09Speaker 2: you had completed your bucket list.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 2: But have you started it?
- 40:14Speaker 4: Like once you complete a bucket list, that feels like
- 40:16Speaker 4: a big deal, but are you, have you started another one?
- 40:19Speaker 3: I'm open to it. Yeah.
- 40:20Speaker 1: No, when we, when I came on here last time, uh,
- 40:23Speaker 1: one of the things I put on my bucket list
- 40:25Speaker 1: was learning how to dance was like my little nugget
- 40:27Speaker 1: to people and saying like, Hey, I'm doing dance with
- 40:29Speaker 1: the stars and I can't tell you.
- 40:30Speaker 3: But yeah, I put it on the list.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Um, and I didn't mark that off the list until
- 40:33Speaker 1: I did dancing with the stars. And I think after
- 40:35Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars, I still had like 20 something
- 40:37Speaker 1: things left out of the 30 and had like six
- 40:40Speaker 1: months to do it.
- 40:41Speaker 3: So that was a little hard, but it was really cool.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I think what I love most about that was not
- 40:47Speaker 1: only challenge myself to try to do something in a
- 40:49Speaker 1: short period of time and do all these things I
- 40:51Speaker 1: wanted to do, but it was also really interesting to
- 40:54Speaker 1: see how much people resonated with it. And they thought
- 40:56Speaker 1: it kind of, the amount of tags I got of
- 40:58Speaker 1: people doing their own bucket list and saying they were
- 41:00Speaker 1: inspired by it and finding ways to push themselves to
- 41:03Speaker 1: do something in a timeline. I thought that was the
- 41:05Speaker 1: coolest thing I didn't even expect from it. It was
- 41:07Speaker 1: just for me a way to like keep myself accountable
- 41:10Speaker 1: and do something fun.
- 41:11Speaker 3: But I've thought about it. I mean, I'm 31 now.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I think if I do another one, it probably won't
- 41:16Speaker 1: be that tight of a timeline, even though I'm sure
- 41:18Speaker 1: people love that and that was part of the excitement.
- 41:20Speaker 4: I think.
- 41:21Speaker 3: I'm open to doing another one at some point.
- 41:23Speaker 1: And again, just keeping myself accountable to do some things
- 41:26Speaker 1: I really want to do.
- 41:27Speaker 2: You'll do 40 and you have nine years.
- 41:29Speaker 3: To do it. That's what I'm saying. You got to
- 41:32Speaker 3: figure it out.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I don't know if nine years of people will stay engaged,
- 41:36Speaker 1: but if they will, I will do a 40 before
- 41:38Speaker 1: I turn 40.
- 41:39Speaker 2: If anyone can keep the peace. It's you, Joey.
- 41:42Speaker 5: I appreciate you guys. Joey, thank you so much for
- 41:45Speaker 5: your time today. Everybody check out the Holiday Spark premiering
- 41:47Speaker 5: on the Roku channel on November 2nd. Traders coming next year.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Wedding next year.
- 41:53Speaker 3: I'm booked and busy.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Yeah, we can't wait to see it all.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Thank you guys.
- 41:56Speaker 5: We're such fans. We love you.
- 41:58Speaker 3: No, I love you guys. Thank you for having me.
