- 0:03Speaker 1: The North Florida Sport Network.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Oh crap, Welcome back.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We told you they were taking the whole damn sport and now the SEC and the Big Ten are negotiating with the playoff.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Has been took.
- 0:36Speaker 2: It's been taken.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The sport is gone.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's gone.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yep, it's over.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, 58% to two conferences 58% of what the shared revenue from college football playoff Going to two conferences Big Ten SEC.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Wow, negotiating, that means that paperwork is being signed.
- 1:02Speaker 1: What's the uh?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Whether they're going to break off.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We knew that was going to happen.
- 1:04Speaker 2: No, they're not going to break off.
- 1:05Speaker 2: This is to keep them from breaking off for now.
- 1:08Speaker 2: You're like all right, all right, all right, we're not going to break off, but we're going to get more money than these other two chumps.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So now it's, official.
- 1:16Speaker 2: No, it's not official.
- 1:17Speaker 2: They're just announcing that it's, it's.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Big 12 and the ACC, or oh yeah, we knew that.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That would be 58 to 32.
- 1:26Speaker 2: 32, with 10% going to G five, notre Dame.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's like twice as much.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I mean it, you can't want it, you can't.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So if you're in that one of these conferences, right.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That just shows, tells me it's going to be expanding.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Those two big ones are going to expand even further At some point, cause you're going to have the ACC is going to be over.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I mean, right now, the, the ball is really in the court of teams and the big 12 and ACC that aren't Florida state cause we're the only ones that are doing anything about it from a legal point Everybody's like, wow, you guys are the bat.
- 2:09Speaker 2: You know, two, three months ago we were, we were the bad guy, we were the villain, the idiot for standing up and making a stink.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Now, what yeah?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Teams like North Carolina, clemson, miami and the big 12.
- 2:23Speaker 2: You're looking at teams over there, tcu teams that actually want to compete on a national stage and be considered an elite football program.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Now it's you can't do that.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's in your face.
- 2:36Speaker 2: You're not going to be that.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It wasn't already last year.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Like what?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Are you going to sell your boosters?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Oh, we could still get a spot in the playoff, but yeah, so what?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Maybe we'll win a national title at the end of the day.
- 2:47Speaker 2: You're not.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know, man.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Until somebody, until another school does anything, I don't know what the hell is.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, They'll negotiate an exit and Florida State will join one of those two Right, and so will then every other big school that wants to come.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, that's the only thing that they'll have that those conferences want to have.
- 3:18Speaker 2: That's the only thing that's going to force any kind of reshaping is mass exodus from both the big 12.
- 3:24Speaker 2: It's coming and the ACC and not just, like you know, joining another conference.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'm talking about schools suing to get out of their rights, out of their media rights.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Right that is going to guarantee they're getting paid less.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And I mean that's the only thing that's going to shake it up.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The only reason they took it to that point, because they knew, saw it coming.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the only way out.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's going to be like that in a lot of other schools, right, if they want to continue to try to compete, where you have to pay the players and you have to be able to compete.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You got to pay everybody you got to pay everybody, you got to have the facilities, you got to keep right.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You know the boosters will get you there.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Everybody's got to have that.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But then it's franchise.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You have, man it's, it's a, it's a it's franchise.
- 4:14Speaker 1: If your biggest donor is double the other.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to get, we got to get donors, we got to get sport itself kind of in a way.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Because it's the meat, like the media and the broadcasting is like took control over it instead of.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I mean it needs to be more like the NFL if it's going that way, where it's shared.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You know, you know they rotate the Super Bowl.
- 4:39Speaker 1: They should rotate.
- 4:42Speaker 2: They should do a lot of things, man, they should.
- 4:45Speaker 1: They're gonna need a commissioner Until you do that each conference is gonna wanna make their best move for their conference.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:51Speaker 2: But here's the thing these schools don't wanna break away from the NCAA because they don't wanna foot the bill for every single one of their sports programs on campus.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Because yeah there might be a few huge football powerhouses that could probably break even and do it, maybe survive.
- 5:10Speaker 2: A school like Notre Dame, obviously, but most of the schools, even in these power two conferences would start to have to cut programs.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So they don't wanna break away from that yet.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So they need to just.
- 5:24Speaker 2: But they clearly are money hungry and want to maintain their status as being the top dog.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So they're gonna continue to kinda use that threat.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And who are they negotiating against?
- 5:37Speaker 2: That's the thing is like Right, there really is no negotiation, so it's not negotiation.
- 5:43Speaker 2: These are the networks that run this college football playoff committee.
- 5:47Speaker 2: That's right.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no.
- 5:48Speaker 2: There's no league commission.
- 5:50Speaker 2: They're telling them like hey guys, yeah, there's no agreement between everyone.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Then you would have that person agree to the TV deals.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You don't have, like the AFC East, going into meetings with CBS.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 6:04Speaker 2: That's where I mean you got.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Basically you have the SEC coming and telling ESPN because they are part of the committee man, I don't care what anybody says, what ESPN says, they're a huge part of that college football playoff process and they're basically coming and saying like, hey, we're not gonna stay here and do this, we're gonna pitch a fit, and thus we start making more money than our coworkers.
- 6:34Speaker 1: There's a bunch of money.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It's a popular sport.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Do have a commissioner, have some come together and be like we're gonna do what's best for the sport.
- 6:42Speaker 2: No, they're not going to do that.
- 6:43Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, because you don't have that already in place.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So what's gonna happen is gonna be so many lawsuits to eventually it gets to the desk somewhere on federal after we have an election this year, because everyone knows.
- 6:58Speaker 2: The way to keep all that stuff done.
- 7:00Speaker 1: There's gonna be so many cases.
- 7:02Speaker 2: The way to keep all of that from happening is to just stay with the NCAA.
- 7:05Speaker 2: You don't wanna run your own league.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You don't wanna be open to unfair business practices lawsuits for so you're gonna negotiate exit fees to get out.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You gotta skate under that amateurism status you have to what they should do is start having conference trades.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Anything.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Well, the SEC it doesn't need Vanderbilt.
- 7:27Speaker 1: They need to go to the ACC and rival with Duke and Wake Forest.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They should be in the same league.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, there is an academic school league that should probably be formed Virginia, duke, vanderbilt Fort, western Stanford Chow.
- 7:43Speaker 1: They just got Cal and Stanford, now they got.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Duke Virginia ACC doesn't have any leadership, they just-.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Well, they're just trying to catch up in any way possible.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Stay relevant.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Stay relevant Show the school Wild wild West.
- 7:56Speaker 1: There's no leadership, there's no governing body and it's gonna be forced upon itself eventually.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's dead.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I mean at this point it won't be able to sustain itself.
- 8:08Speaker 2: The programs will either A stay and just be unable to compete because of the differential payout, or all the teams that take football seriously and wanna be a part of that are gonna start suing to get out of their media rights, trying to just get out to be able to sign.
- 8:26Speaker 1: like do whatever they can to not be locked in they have a monopoly situation where you have one network that I know they just wanna have it because it's making money for them and it's a popular thing.
- 8:37Speaker 2: But it's still a sport.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Well, it's not just one network.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And they buy but they bind it's two, yeah, but ESPN's gonna have the playoff rights though.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Right, they're going for it, but don't think that Fox is just gonna sit there and yield.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I mean, they might not be prepared to be able to make that bid and pull it off yet, but that's the end game.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Right, they just have to let them have-.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Both of those networks vying for TD right Instead of this is too much.
- 9:02Speaker 1: There needs to be an agreement that they get to alternate it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I think that's the one thing that Well, it'll come to that when there's only two of them, you don't always.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 1: When there's only two networks and two leagues it'll be this year it's on Fox, next year it's on Fox They'll figure it out away, but right now there's so many You're just gonna have to get into one of these leagues.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Right then, these schools, for these companies that have contracts with conferences, schools that don't generate money through football, are basically like parasites, like that's how they operate.
- 9:35Speaker 2: That's what they view them as.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That's why the ACC is second tier for ESPN Is because you guys just don't generate enough money through your football program to compete with the SEC to give us what we need.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And when the SEC comes and says, hey, we need more.
- 9:54Speaker 2: You can't keep, you know.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Hey, sorry guys, that's right, you have to get out they have the exact.
- 10:01Speaker 2: the ACC and the SEC network are the exact same companies owning the exact same stake in every single little piece of contract literature.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I mean they're identical except for the money amount.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It's the exact same deal, it's just.
- 10:18Speaker 2: The money amount is considerably less.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You just the paper trail.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Look at the parent companies, look at the sister companies, they're all the same.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But your second tier, and I don't, I don't know about the big 12.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I mean, they had, they're in the same boat.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I don't know what any of those schools think about this.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Well, it's just no, if it was.
- 10:40Speaker 1: They at least have a basketball conference even there's not a school in the conference that's looking at what's going on.
- 10:49Speaker 1: There's climp that's interested in football North Carolina Clemson.
- 10:53Speaker 2: NC.
- 10:54Speaker 1: State and see say they're gonna not want to be in one of these conference.
- 10:57Speaker 2: No, they don't, you can.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You can draw a line and and separate the schools that take football seriously from a financial standpoint in the conference.
- 11:06Speaker 2: That would be willing to let you know it.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Screw it.
- 11:09Speaker 2: We're gonna make that commitment and keep it going.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And Then you there, I mean that's when it's your divide and that's what, ultimately, what led to the ACC demise is Taken on too many lifeless football schools like no, I Mean it.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You would hope that some of them could work there.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I mean, you know you took a team like Syracuse and Pittsburgh and yeah, they've had success in the past right in football.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Well, you have a network that owns the conference now, owning the actual sport and what you play for, and then it's gonna want to have a competitive advantage and they can do their top dog.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so like if you want to win and you want to compete in a sport You're needs to.
- 11:52Speaker 1: With all of the money and all of the new change in the game, it just needs to be a set of rules.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's why we had it Right.
- 11:59Speaker 1: That's why they have the salary cabinet collective bargaining.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Well, the way that the way that Florida states to come and all of the schools need to operate right now is under the assumption and and just Just accepted as fact for right now, that that's not gonna happen, right?
- 12:14Speaker 1: and I know.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Nobody has any interest in and doing that.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Nobody who is in any power has any interest, and you know what?
- 12:21Speaker 1: hey, that's why they yeah, they're one out and they wanted and the other.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Your other best option is we got to join one of these conferences that has an entire network of networks pushing, you know, pushing the agenda, trying to get us and, and you know, this conference as top dog yeah otherwise you're screwed.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and it trickles down to other sports.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I would put a stake in Florida State basketball until they're out of the ACC, and One of the reasons you see the ACC struggling and basketball.
- 12:54Speaker 1: We talked about this the programs that aren't because they're right now.
- 12:59Speaker 2: They can't compete.
- 12:59Speaker 2: They don't have tradition and deep pockets when it comes to those programs.
- 13:03Speaker 2: They can't compete Now.
- 13:06Speaker 2: So there you go.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Oh man great.
- 13:11Speaker 1: What about the?
- 13:12Speaker 1: What about now, though?
- 13:13Speaker 1: Because right now I would say, the Florida State can't compete, and next year, I think, they can't compete and they saw this ball.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, in football yeah of course it's all gonna be football right, because it's still about I mean you still have to fill out an entire roster of guys that work.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I mean Basketball is different, man, you know one guy can, can change an entire team.
- 13:37Speaker 2: You know Football.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You still need good coaching, you still need recruiters, you still need that foundation and and and everything that goes into it, right?
- 13:48Speaker 1: And it's just a lot more money invested in boosters and right that's the thing.
- 13:52Speaker 1: They're gonna have to get the focus is football hands on deck right.
- 13:56Speaker 1: They can compete, they can be and you can get some of this big money that these other conferences are shelling out, then we can.
- 14:03Speaker 1: We can have basketball too, and we can have like we, but right now we can barely.
- 14:08Speaker 1: We're trying to compete.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Well, the problem that the issue that issue that Florida State has and and it's Unique to Florida State and maybe Clemson in North Carolina too kind of is the fact that they're surrounded by programs that are gonna get that bigger payout in terms of yeah, all I know at least they recruit, like Everybody around them is in the SEC.
- 14:32Speaker 2: They're all-powerful football.
- 14:34Speaker 1: They don't want those teams in there because it's like, if Clemson's, what do they have there?
- 14:39Speaker 1: They're the big dog?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Then yeah, thank you, florida States now in the SEC, yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Right right, well, and that's a thing you stupid to want, they don't want that.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Well, and that's kind of the thing is like Florida obviously doesn't want it, obviously, but.
- 14:53Speaker 2: But here's the thing is, florida has never had as much pull in the SEC as they would like you to believe.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 2: They don't call the shots in that conference.
- 15:02Speaker 2: They never have.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Right, we know that.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Okay, there's three schools that sit right on top of Florida State yeah, with a huge interest in us not being a threat and that's Alabama, auburn and Georgia.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Mm, hmm, those are old schools, those are guys that that teams that recruit the exact same players have the chance.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Now it's too late.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah it it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: You got to get in the big 10 sooner rather than later.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Man, just get it done.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I don't care how Well they're, just pay the money to get out, do whatever you can.
- 15:34Speaker 1: This just sheds more light on why FSU left and it's not really just FSU.
- 15:40Speaker 1: They got screwed over in the playoffs, so it gave them the board and everybody was pissed and pissed everybody off Enough, but no, they didn't.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I tell you right now they didn't.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they weren't left out.
- 15:52Speaker 1: They probably wouldn't have gone public.
- 15:54Speaker 1: No, but it still was brewing.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It'd be brewing, it's still.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It was still going to happen.
- 15:59Speaker 2: They would have.
- 16:00Speaker 2: They would have just rushed to sign Norvell, keep him locked up Everything that would have, but it would.
- 16:05Speaker 2: None of this shit would be going on.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Might have seen them fight a little bit more on that NIL slap on the wrist, but when you start coming down to actual.
- 16:18Speaker 1: There's no way you can compete when you're getting half as much.
- 16:21Speaker 2: No, and if Florida's like I'm saying like if Florida State was in that situation but they're located out, say, in Arizona, and recruiting against a bunch, competing against a bunch of schools that are getting that same lesser payout.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Okay, so different.
- 16:37Speaker 1: If you're thinking about this, though, in terms of your Fox or your Disney and Florida States there, if I think Florida State is more of a catch for the big 10 because they don't have any team in that area right, and it's the SEC is more of just like keeping them away.
- 17:02Speaker 1: You want to get Florida State just to keep them away from the big 10.
- 17:06Speaker 2: My personal feeling is the big 10 coming into the south.
- 17:09Speaker 1: So it's pick, switch one you know, like Auburn, it's like what do you want?
- 17:12Speaker 1: Do you want to either have them in your league, where you can, you know, or they're going to come and be your rival league and be the only one?
- 17:22Speaker 2: I mean, at this point it certainly looks like ESPN is going to do what they can to kind of help the ACC try to make Florida State shut up and stay poor.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And that helps that out, because which means that needs something in that conference.
- 17:40Speaker 1: That's the only thing that you got Clemson.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You got Florida State.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I really don't, and that's it.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I really don't see the only teams that way.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't see any way that Florida State stays Miami he's going to, has a chance to get better this year, but but there's no.
- 17:59Speaker 1: If they're running good, that's.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That's another team that would move the needle if they were ever good.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They've never, ever, ever been good.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's that, but they were good.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Miami is also.
- 18:11Speaker 1: They have a private school.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They have a little bit of a luxury to be able to just donate money straight to the football program.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:20Speaker 2: That's not something that you know.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You can't really do that at a public university.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I mean, you can make a one time, but they can earmark dollars, big dollars, right, and the problem is is that they you know Herb Street, when he got on there and was was whining for Miami you know for them to step up and stuff is that they've traditionally not been able to find a large number of people to donate big.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Well to compete on that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: But it all I'm saying is like it's so.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, step up and cover the amount that they're not getting, because Miami would make a natural fit in the big 10.
- 19:00Speaker 2: But I also think that the SEC would probably have it's the same kind of argument there.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, like it's the same kind of argument at any of those schools.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It's going to be well.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We need to keep these schools in the region.
- 19:12Speaker 2: And if you're the SEC, we let the big 10 go down.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You really own it then Then you really are that conference Right, if you could get, if you're the only.
- 19:20Speaker 2: why are you?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Why are you saying?
- 19:21Speaker 1: Powers you don't have are Florida State, clemson.
- 19:23Speaker 1: They're the only team, and then you have pretty much every national championship.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And you kind of you got to, except for and you think of it as like.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Like, if it's just ESPN against Fox, Does ESPN really want Fox coming down into?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Florida.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Right, they don't, and that's what they don't.
- 19:41Speaker 1: That's where you got to work.
- 19:43Speaker 2: That's why you're seeing them scramble so much to get the ACC back to keep them locked in right now that we need.
- 19:51Speaker 1: They need somebody in the ACC.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Because then they're.
- 19:54Speaker 2: If the ACC dissolves, they're forced with the.
- 19:57Speaker 2: The reality of going to the SEC and being like guys, we really need Florida State, you know, to keep the big 10 out and keep Fox out of Florida.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And the SEC says no, we don't really want them.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Or Florida State says you know what?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Espn, go screw yourself Right.
- 20:11Speaker 2: That's a nightmare scenario.
- 20:14Speaker 1: That's what?
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what that?
- 20:16Speaker 1: Of course, the right now they're just like well, it doesn't matter if they're.
- 20:20Speaker 2: That's the big end game in this is ESPN can't have Fox in the state of Florida in the.
- 20:25Speaker 2: South in general.
- 20:27Speaker 2: So we can't have the ACC network getting getting shot the hell, because that's what's going to happen.
- 20:34Speaker 1: The big 10 is just circling there and then, but you're going over here and making the agreement and it's right out there and everybody knows, Right Well the big 10, they're going to do it.
- 20:44Speaker 2: They're going to keep doing business as usual.
- 20:45Speaker 2: They're going to get their members paid and keep raising that clout because they have the pull now.
- 20:49Speaker 2: They're clearly one of the power to.
- 20:51Speaker 2: You know, the SEC is going to keep doing the same.
- 20:54Speaker 2: The one that's sweating it right now is Greensboro.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's any.
- 21:01Speaker 2: ESPN.
- 21:03Speaker 1: They're the ones that are going to have.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah, because they own both, yeah, but they want that.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Espn wants the monopoly on that entire region of you know the right.
- 21:12Speaker 2: So they're going to have to eat it.
- 21:14Speaker 1: They're just going to have to pay like pay more, and either let Florida stay Clemson and try to get them into the Well, I think right now.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I mean, at this point, man, it it?
- 21:24Speaker 2: They gave them a chance.
- 21:26Speaker 2: There is no, there's no more paying more to get Florida state, like that's what this is.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Is you guys had your chance?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you thought we were bluffing here.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You go, right, we're out of here, and ESPN is like, oh shit, we got to do everything we can to to keep this thing from sinking, right, but it's not going to happen, you know, and it it could end really bad for both sides, or just one side, or you know Then what.
- 21:55Speaker 2: But oh yeah, who cares?
- 21:57Speaker 2: Because the sport's dead anyway.
- 22:01Speaker 1: When you start well, if you start making the outcomes.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Certain area, but we already knew that.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I mean you got an interest in it because it funds the entire.
- 22:10Speaker 1: It's going to be fun, though, and you want a part of it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's why it's still something you want.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You just want a piece of it.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You want a chance to compete.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Right, you want to change?
- 22:19Speaker 2: Well, we've never not like.
- 22:21Speaker 2: As long as we've been alive, we've competed at.
- 22:24Speaker 1: With the ACC was close enough.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I don't think this would happen.
- 22:28Speaker 1: It's where the point where they can see it.
- 22:32Speaker 1: They're paying everything they have to keep it.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Now it's like we can't keep up at this level.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It can single handedly be blamed on John Swafford.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Let's just call it what it is.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it was his fault.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Right, it was his nepotism and his short-sightedness.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: That caused it.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Right, and that's everyone's gonna have to pay for that until they they're trying to the secrets.
- 22:57Speaker 2: At least you got a lot of conference titles, a lot of national titles for your Tarheo basketball program.
- 23:02Speaker 2: So I mean, I guess, you got that.
- 23:04Speaker 1: What happens then?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Do you change the banners or not?
- 23:07Speaker 1: You just keep them, sure, yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Keep them.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I mean we still got the Metro Conference banners, Shit, Yep hey old Donnie Well tour duty was got wrapped up.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah man, some serious, some serious business, right Apparently they had the the combine on, like during portions of of the workouts.
- 23:33Speaker 2: As a motivator I mean I who are you most?
- 23:35Speaker 1: excited about.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Coming in.
- 23:38Speaker 2: That wasn't there last year.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Oh whew, Linebacker.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Probably.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to see Murphy.
- 23:46Speaker 2: We finally got a kid that that's built like a a real linebacker, but I mean I who you're starting linebackers You're starting linebackers before state.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Well, they have big shoes to fill.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know, I say built like a real linebacker, and I they're big and fat.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah, deboer and, and DeBoer Deloach, and.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Bethune Lundy is coming back.
- 24:07Speaker 1: He'll get some time, but is he going to be able to play on certain downs?
- 24:12Speaker 2: I think he's coming back to be In every down linebacker.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Okay, but now you, you know, you, you go from Bethune and Deloach to guys that are, quote unquote, undersized.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But you got the guy.
- 24:24Speaker 2: You got Murphy from yeah, but you get Lundy and Murphy now, who are two guys that are 230 and 240 something.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I like it.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Respectively.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I mean you get a little more thumping there.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I hope that, man.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It's a huge question.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Mark Del, did you lost a ton of production with the two guys that you're losing?
- 24:43Speaker 1: We'll start right at the lowest.
- 24:44Speaker 1: But I mean, your secondary is coming back pretty.
- 24:48Speaker 1: You got a lot of talent there.
- 24:50Speaker 2: You do.
- 24:50Speaker 2: You're going to be young at one safety spot, but it's their players man.
- 24:55Speaker 2: You know Hussie Kirkland.
- 24:56Speaker 2: They're going to be at Barkland Barkland.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Barker got a lot of playing time last year so he'll have some experience coming back.
- 25:04Speaker 2: You do have a lot of good players, a lot of good freshmen you're bringing in.
- 25:08Speaker 2: So secondary is a little bit stouter.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Back there, right D-line is going to be the, the strength you still have another transfer window.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you know at this point in that last year they didn't have Keon Coleman Right.
- 25:21Speaker 2: So Jacobi Mathews is out there that the transfer from Texas A&M, you know former five star Right, really really good safety.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So I mean, you never know.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Who are their safeties right now?
- 25:35Speaker 2: if you had to guess, If I had to guess right now, you'd probably see.
- 25:38Speaker 2: You'd probably see.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I mean definitely Shaheem.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Shaheem Brown would be one safety.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I think probably Hussie.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It'll be Hussie or Barker.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yeah, those are the two.
- 25:49Speaker 1: They went linebacker and safety.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Those two positions are going to be ones to watch.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Who's going to step up?
- 25:58Speaker 2: Right, and I think you know, with as much playing time as Hussie and Barker got last year, they'll have a little bit of an edge on Kirkland but the staff is really high on KJ Kirkland Right.
- 26:09Speaker 2: He got hurt last year, but they were really really high on him.
- 26:13Speaker 2: He was an early enrollee, Apparently looked really good throughout tour of duty.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Thomas back at corner along with us, Thomas back.
- 26:22Speaker 2: You get Cyprus.
- 26:23Speaker 2: You get Green Vance, you're pretty good there.
- 26:27Speaker 2: The incoming guys.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And then you got Mario.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Edwards Jr, filling in as the pass rusher.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It's a big shoes to fill Marvin Jones Jr.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, Marvin Jones.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yeah he'll be in there.
- 26:38Speaker 2: You get a transfer.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Toshi Sheetries.
- 26:40Speaker 2: From West Virginia, you know big toko from Oregon State.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I mean they added more pieces to the defensive line.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I think Patrick Payton is going to be relied on heavily to for the pass rush, I mean he looks bigger.
- 26:53Speaker 2: The guy in Jackson.
- 26:55Speaker 2: You didn't get to play Darrell Jackson.
- 26:58Speaker 2: You're going to get a full season, hopefully, out of him.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Farmer coming back.
- 27:01Speaker 2: They're both just massive human beings.
- 27:05Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Offensively new quarterback, lot of guys on offense, a lot of new things Got DJ Uwe who, coming out high school highly touted.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I mean we used to see him on Dr Pepper commercials.
- 27:16Speaker 1: He was the next.
- 27:18Speaker 1: He was a rightful Trevor.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Lawrence, I think he just picked the wrong school for himself coming out of high school.
- 27:23Speaker 2: It's a high.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I mean it was the hot school.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I mean he went with you know I they.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Big shoes to fill too.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Big shoes to fill their best quarterback ever.
- 27:32Speaker 2: He also, you know he watched his offensive coordinator leave.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Take a head coaching job, Both of them, as a matter of fact.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But like I said, dude, he's got.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Best game I've seen him play was when he came in here and dope.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I tell you what though I think he made the right decision in terms of you think he gets drafted this year if he goes.
- 27:54Speaker 1: If he would have went pro he goes pro, Probably, maybe late.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I don't know, I mean but he hasn't been in the same situation Season.
- 28:03Speaker 2: He comes here and just an excel.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Us to.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Charlotte, just get Florida State to the ACC title game.
- 28:10Speaker 1: That means he's going to have a good enough year, stock is going to rise.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Right, right, he's got pro have pro tools to be in the NFL.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I mean, quarterback is just crazy.
- 28:21Speaker 2: And some of these teams talk themselves in new receiver, though, from Alabama Benson.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, malik Benson, he's going to have.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I mean, I mean a guy that that report reportedly was moving around a lot better this year and get those two together and this guy's got the talent.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he's got the arm, the arm.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I saw it in person a couple of years ago.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Oh, dude, yeah, I mean, if you can put it together, you can put it together.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And you can run the ball and you got the running back from Alabama as well.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah, roy Dell Williams.
- 28:53Speaker 2: He rocked up Roy Dell that dude is, and you got the freshman who's looking like a Right Cam man.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, that is that.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Racious.
- 29:03Speaker 2: That dude is going to be an absolute wrecking ball, right?
- 29:06Speaker 2: Um, he is a grown man.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I mean, he's a freshman, but he's probably been a grown man since you.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Offensive line.
- 29:13Speaker 1: You got a couple of new comers from the SEC transferring over to TJ Ferguson, Richie Leonard.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Richie Leonard was a guy that was mentioned as moving really, really well for a lineman, actually better than than most of the linemen during tour of duty.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I interesting to watch that man.
- 29:33Speaker 1: One of those transfers sneaks into the starting lineup, but they, you know that's just more depth and at that position you know competition and you get Got to have those big bodies.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I always love to see him.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, man, you can't have enough of them.
- 29:51Speaker 2: It lines look good they do.
- 29:53Speaker 2: They're moving around Well.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Like you want to see improvement, I think hopefully knock on wood that that the interior line will be a little bit better than last year.
- 30:05Speaker 1: You know there were some some times when they kind of broke down some, but I see a lot of the preseason polls and I Think I would I like, where floor estate stands Right, see why they're lost a lot.
- 30:18Speaker 1: They lost a lot.
- 30:19Speaker 2: of production is a lot, but people reacted that because so much production on paper is gone.
- 30:25Speaker 1: It's just you can reload so much faster with the transfer portal, yeah, and you can find the right talent.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I mean, who know, benson could be An explosive weapon, right, all right, in what you really need him for is that downfield threat.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Williams to top off.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Yes, I came could, could slide right into where.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Johnny Wilson left off.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I mean he's got all the ability to be the same kind of player.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I mean I know Johnny Wilson had this freakish height and wingspan right.
- 30:54Speaker 1: These are careers.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Can make up for it with his speed and his explosiveness.
- 30:59Speaker 2: It's just about putting it together, obviously, and and with the rankings and everything like that, like people haven't seen.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Florida State reload for so long.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah they're just hesitant to think that they can do.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I get it, man, I'm kind of the same way, is it's when you start to see the, the caliber of athlete come in, and then you, but you've seen the Production still steadily rise.
- 31:21Speaker 1: And what we?
- 31:22Speaker 1: What we talked about, how they're doing the same crap that they were doing when they were, when he was.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the work doesn't work doesn't change man, it's what that's.
- 31:31Speaker 1: What makes me excited is he's just His crop of talent is put.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Other potential might be getting higher.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Yeah, right, and he is like it select.
- 31:40Speaker 1: There's more people that want to come.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Now they're seeing it and they but, and he's he doesn't.
- 31:45Speaker 1: You know.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It's proofs in the pudding, like you said watch he watched the combine, watch, watch what we just did.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Look at all these guys that just just came out of here.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I would, I would.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I would also just like to point out that the guys that that killed the combine for Florida State that went there to you know Further their careers and all that.
- 32:07Speaker 2: None of them outside of Keon Coleman Were when Johnny Wilson, I guess, was a four star.
- 32:13Speaker 2: But you're talking about Renardo green, three star.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Fabian love it three star.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yep.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Jerry verse.
- 32:21Speaker 1: That's why I'm excited to star that's why we stayed Fiske got two star tight in, you know you got these other guys, jerry and Jones three star guys.
- 32:31Speaker 2: That that aren't these blue, you know, but they're gonna have to go out.
- 32:34Speaker 1: They're gonna have to go through the same Right process that those guys before them did right and in that and Standards been set and just what Mike talks about.
- 32:45Speaker 2: You see, some guys that are, that are highly ranked, not be able to cut it.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Don't, don't overreact.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I mean, some of these kids that are five stars and four stars aren't cut out to come to Florida State Right and be able to succeed exciting to have him locked up.
- 32:59Speaker 1: But then you see down the road what we started off, what Any, and you get excited about that and and then when you see these TV deals or something like that, it just wait a second.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Here you know trade.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Benson three star.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah, forget them.
- 33:14Speaker 2: That's all right.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Well, I mean it.
- 33:17Speaker 2: You know, hey, I it's nice to have highly ranked recruited classes, and I mean it does.
- 33:22Speaker 2: It reflects that you got to have a lot of blue chips to maintain a high level of success, but you just went undefeated and dominated with guys that shouldn't have been able to do it.
- 33:36Speaker 2: So I should tell you about recruiting sites.
- 33:38Speaker 2: That's my little rant, my rant for the Friday.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I should tell you about what the standard is here, too, exactly the ability that they can get anybody to come.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Well, anybody that fits what they're looking for, right?
- 33:57Speaker 1: And it might not.
- 33:58Speaker 1: You're not going to hit on everyone.
- 33:59Speaker 2: No, no, you won't.
- 34:01Speaker 1: When you keep taking good props and selection of hits Right.
- 34:06Speaker 2: If they hit on enough guy, they'll take a chance on a kid that might be a boomer bust.
- 34:11Speaker 2: They're just not going to take too many chances.
- 34:18Speaker 1: A lot of it's going to be a lot's going to rely on the quarterback.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 1: What you know.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Well, your back-ups got a little bit more experience this year.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you know you're rolling in with Brock, who was thrown to the fire last year.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Seriously, I kind of feel more comfortable, at least experience-wise, with Brock than I did with Tate ever.
- 34:42Speaker 2: So Tate came in and slugged against Louisville man.
- 34:47Speaker 1: They did.
- 34:49Speaker 2: That's old news.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Southern Miss man, yeah, southern Miss, that's the luck.
- 34:55Speaker 2: That's the luck in Hattiesburg.
- 34:59Speaker 1: We got baseball New Orleans, new Orleans 11-0.
- 35:02Speaker 2: New Orleans 11-0.
- 35:03Speaker 1: First time since Leaven's last season, I see that Precinct.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they should get it's baseball.
- 35:07Speaker 2: They never know.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they never know.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they never know.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they never know.
- 35:11Speaker 2: I mean they should get it's baseball.
- 35:13Speaker 2: They never know, they never know.
- 35:15Speaker 1: It looks better See the pitching can come out and dominate.
- 35:19Speaker 2: They should win all three.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you should finish the weekend.
- 35:22Speaker 2: You should be 14-0 Tuesday, heading into Gainesville.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 35:28Speaker 2: It's going to be a big one.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I would be a big one.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it got beat by Central Florida last week.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Well, it's going to happen, but a good start over there at the DIC.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, link, jared and them boys, time to have fun.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Spring break is upon us.
