- 2:35Speaker 3: And this is mister Ricardo Morales and uh he is
- 2:40Speaker 3: the son of Monkey Morales, who is also Ricardo Morales.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Nava mav thank you.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It's the Cuban thing where they give you everybody's name
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the family, so he has Actually that's stupid thing
- 3:01Speaker 1: that okay, sticky with forty three names.
- 3:06Speaker 3: It is a running joke on the show, Rick that
- 3:09Speaker 3: I must mispronounce everything and people find it hilarious so all,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and usually we welcome all the people in, but we're
- 3:19Speaker 3: going to kind of skip that tonight. But I just
- 3:20Speaker 3: want to thank the Double B for his twenty dollars
- 3:24Speaker 3: super jat, quit monkeying around, Welcome all to the best
- 3:28Speaker 3: podcast ever. And I also want to congratulate the Double
- 3:32Speaker 3: B on his engagement in the last air too.
- 3:38Speaker 2: He's a big supporter of her show.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Rick so cool.
- 3:42Speaker 3: But yeah, let's let's get into it. And I want
- 3:44Speaker 3: to start off with a funny story. Sure, I first
- 3:48Speaker 3: messaged you on Twitter on ex and when I did,
- 3:53Speaker 3: I thought you were the son of David Murray. David yes, uh,
- 4:00Speaker 3: And I had heard of Monkey Rob and another friend
- 4:04Speaker 3: had had made fun of me for this. But the
- 4:07Speaker 3: other friend said, although that would be a fascinating interview,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and I think and conversation, and that's what we're going
- 4:14Speaker 3: to have tonight. And yeah, I ordered your book that
- 4:18Speaker 3: has come out.
- 4:21Speaker 2: What date was it?
- 4:23Speaker 3: September? September, the ninth of September. I was in Italy
- 4:28Speaker 3: and when I came back, it was waiting for me.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It is awesome.
- 4:34Speaker 3: The true story of a mythic Cuban exile assassin Ci
- 4:38Speaker 3: Operative FI informant, smuggler and dad. So there was no
- 4:45Speaker 3: connection between your dad and David Moreles. Just to make
- 4:49Speaker 3: it clear for the audience, I'm.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Aware who David Morales is and I know that there's
- 4:55Speaker 1: a very intriguing story there connected with the dayfk assassination.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I've read that a little bit about him. But there
- 5:01Speaker 1: is no connection in the family with him. Got it
- 5:05Speaker 1: that I am that I am aware of I got
- 5:07Speaker 1: I just want to say that because I don't know
- 5:10Speaker 1: when they were in Cuba, those people, I don't know
- 5:12Speaker 1: if they ran into each other or not, you know, right,
- 5:15Speaker 1: because my dad did have CIA connections wild in Cuba.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So like Frank Sturgis said, John As you know those
- 5:23Speaker 1: kind of people that were that were all fighting with
- 5:26Speaker 1: Castro alongside of Castro. Yeah, so they could have, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: known each other from.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Them, and I think he did work with Operation forty
- 5:35Speaker 3: at some point. But what why don't we start with
- 5:37Speaker 3: your description of your dad.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Sure, my dad was born in Cuba, the son of
- 5:44Speaker 1: a federal judge under the Battista administration, and the while
- 5:50Speaker 1: in school he was in a Jesuit school in high school,
- 5:54Speaker 1: they figured out that he was he had an identic memory,
- 5:58Speaker 1: so he could remember everything. He would like read a
- 6:00Speaker 1: book and remember and then he would take the test
- 6:02Speaker 1: and pass the test so he wouldn't have to do anything,
- 6:06Speaker 1: so he could remember everything. So they put him in
- 6:09Speaker 1: the military. That immediately send him to the military school
- 6:11Speaker 1: so we could start learning military things. So they started
- 6:15Speaker 1: training him in the military. This is all while Castro
- 6:18Speaker 1: has just taken power and is trying to consolidate power
- 6:23Speaker 1: in Cuba. So they start training him and you know,
- 6:27Speaker 1: shooting explosives and all that stuff, and he spends a
- 6:30Speaker 1: little bit of time doing that, and then at some
- 6:34Speaker 1: point Castro regimes decides that his connection to the Baptista
- 6:41Speaker 1: administration through his father being a judge, puts a target
- 6:45Speaker 1: on my dad's back, and they send his partner at
- 6:51Speaker 1: the time, who went by the name of Americano, which
- 6:54Speaker 1: makes yeah, it's a weird thing, but his name was Americano,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and they send them Anticano to go from away and
- 7:04Speaker 1: kill him. But my dad finds out who his brother has.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They've they've figured it out, and he beats them to
- 7:11Speaker 1: my dad and tells him. So when the Medicano comes
- 7:13Speaker 1: into her, my dad is the building. Then my Dad
- 7:17Speaker 1: disarms him and shoots him and kills him, and they
- 7:20Speaker 1: drive off and they drive to the Brazilian embassy, where
- 7:23Speaker 1: he spends eighty two days in the Brazilian embassy seeking
- 7:28Speaker 1: aside to get out of the country because they're castros
- 7:30Speaker 1: trying to kill him. So that's the early stages in Cuba.
- 7:35Speaker 1: At that point, after the two days, he leaves and
- 7:37Speaker 1: goes to Miami. At that point, all our family's gone,
- 7:42Speaker 1: all both sides of the family have gone through Miami already.
- 7:45Speaker 1: He was, him and his brother were the last to
- 7:48Speaker 1: leave Cuba from the family. He arrives in Miami, and
- 7:52Speaker 1: when upon arrival in Miami, he's reed into the Cuban
- 7:58Speaker 1: groups that are there because of his ability to make
- 8:01Speaker 1: bombs and his ability to use and his g in
- 8:10Speaker 1: Cuba gives him the gravitas to you know, a big
- 8:13Speaker 1: figure that they can use, and so they recruit him
- 8:18Speaker 1: into what becomes later on Op forty, which as a
- 8:23Speaker 1: team of specialized agents, pilots, snipers, you know, whatever specialty
- 8:32Speaker 1: they had for to form this group. And he begins training,
- 8:37Speaker 1: gets more training and bomb making and whatnot, and that's
- 8:40Speaker 1: where he is able to also acquire C four explosives,
- 8:44Speaker 1: a different type of explosives that they're going to then
- 8:47Speaker 1: use in the Cuban power groups in Miami to to
- 8:52Speaker 1: do what they have to do to fight for the
- 8:55Speaker 1: to regain power in Cuba. So he spends a lot
- 9:00Speaker 1: of time in in Miami. In that time, they're they're
- 9:05Speaker 1: they're just planting bombs everywhere. People are different groups.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Your dad is demolitions expert, right, Yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 1: He's a bomb maker, a sniper, you know. And he
- 9:16Speaker 1: can he can take apart like he'll read a manual
- 9:19Speaker 1: on a weapon, remember the instruction, and take it apart
- 9:22Speaker 1: and put it back together. So his memory is.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And weren't you told at a young age to look
- 9:28Speaker 3: under taught at a young age.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I figured I'd get that.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Under the cars for car bombs.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I was about eleven years old, ten eleven years old,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and we were shopping at he had come back from Venezuela.
- 9:45Speaker 1: This is like this is like in the seventh so
- 9:47Speaker 1: this we're jumping ahead a little bit in time. But he, uh,
- 9:51Speaker 1: he took me shopping to the Omni. He had just
- 9:53Speaker 1: come back from bed in one of his trips from
- 9:55Speaker 1: being in Venezuela, and he was shopping at the Omni.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It's a brand new mall in downtown Miami. It's beautiful
- 10:00Speaker 1: and we shop and I'm having a great day. And
- 10:02Speaker 1: then it's one of those covered parking, multi layer ramps,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and as children do, they tend to run ahead of
- 10:11Speaker 1: your parents towards the car when you see the car,
- 10:13Speaker 1: most kids, and that's what I did. I try to
- 10:15Speaker 1: get to the car quick. And then he yells you
- 10:18Speaker 1: got to stop and look for a bomb. And I'm like,
- 10:21Speaker 1: what the hell are we talking about? And he takes
- 10:23Speaker 1: me and he puts me under the car with him,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and he shows me you got to learn what the
- 10:27Speaker 1: frame of the car looks like. You got to learn
- 10:29Speaker 1: what fuel lines are supposed to look like, so that
- 10:31Speaker 1: when you see something that doesn't belong under here that
- 10:34Speaker 1: could kill us, you can figure it out and you'll
- 10:36Speaker 1: see it. And he looked around and he said, all right,
- 10:39Speaker 1: we can get in. We're good. And we got in
- 10:40Speaker 1: and I was like, that was the day I figured, Okay,
- 10:44Speaker 1: now it's deadly. You know. Until then I had heard
- 10:47Speaker 1: bits and pieces as a young kid that he was
- 10:50Speaker 1: in the government work and spy and all that, but
- 10:54Speaker 1: I didn't put the if we could die today day
- 10:58Speaker 1: till that day.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Wow, that's a crazy thing to learn at eleven, that
- 11:07Speaker 3: is for sure.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 3: So obviously, uh, Operation forty recruited him, right, uh correct,
- 11:17Speaker 3: part of the part of the CIA training exiles.
- 11:21Speaker 2: But he was not involved with the Bay of Pigs invasion. Correct,
- 11:26Speaker 2: he was kind of the well he was.
- 11:29Speaker 1: What happened with the Bay of What happened with the
- 11:31Speaker 1: Bay of Pigs is that Op forty is the team
- 11:34Speaker 1: that's supposed to go in after they've secured the beachheads
- 11:38Speaker 1: and all that and game ground. Operation forty would then
- 11:41Speaker 1: land in to go do sabotage and what so parachute parachute,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Well they could parachute. It's because they got pilots, they
- 11:50Speaker 1: got planes. You know, supposedly if we were getting the
- 11:52Speaker 1: CIA assistance that we were supposed to get, there would
- 11:56Speaker 1: have been either voting them then because they were like
- 11:59Speaker 1: on those boats off shore, they were on land, so
- 12:03Speaker 1: they were waiting for the invasion to succeed, get a
- 12:07Speaker 1: beachhead and then like they did in Deed theay, you
- 12:09Speaker 1: drop the paratroopers in land that are gonna go do
- 12:13Speaker 1: the sabotaging and get stuff done ahead of the mass
- 12:16Speaker 1: forces that are coming in. But when the when the
- 12:19Speaker 1: mission fails, they never get sent in. So they just
- 12:23Speaker 1: they got held back. So there there you can see
- 12:26Speaker 1: in the papers of the battalions that were going in.
- 12:29Speaker 1: First battalion going in, second battalion going in, and there's
- 12:32Speaker 1: paperwork on who was supposed to go win. But they
- 12:35Speaker 1: never since they lost. They never had any air cover
- 12:38Speaker 1: or anything anyway, they were not gonna they were not
- 12:40Speaker 1: gonna win. It was.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Needless to say. They were very bitter over this.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Oh yes, people they've trained with have been captured, killed.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, many killed. So that didn't that did that.
- 12:57Speaker 1: That's what soured the relationship. That's one of the soured
- 13:00Speaker 1: the relationship between the Cubans and the US government of
- 13:04Speaker 1: John F. Kennedy at the time was because not only
- 13:07Speaker 1: did okay, so they don't give us help, they didn't
- 13:09Speaker 1: give help to them at the Bay of Tags. So
- 13:12Speaker 1: then after that the Cuban missile crisis hits and they
- 13:17Speaker 1: make an agreement, the Kennedy administration to remove the missiles
- 13:20Speaker 1: in Turkey and never invade Cuba. That's always a little
- 13:26Speaker 1: minor detail that's forgotten in the trade. To get the
- 13:30Speaker 1: missiles out. That's why they never went back in. And
- 13:32Speaker 1: it's sixty plus years in America's never invaded Cuba. Ninety
- 13:36Speaker 1: miles off our shore. We'll go all around the world
- 13:38Speaker 1: to kick somebody's ass, but we won't go ninety miles
- 13:42Speaker 1: because we had an agreement. So that's what happened in JFK.
- 13:45Speaker 1: That's what the Cubans were met about when they said
- 13:48Speaker 1: that we will not invade Cuba. That was a straw.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I believe that broke the camels back on the Cubans
- 13:53Speaker 1: because they were still trying to get applying together to
- 13:56Speaker 1: go back into Cuba and JFK saying we won't invade Cuba,
- 14:00Speaker 1: but it's the end of Cuba for the people in
- 14:02Speaker 1: Miami and the Cubans in the United States. So they're
- 14:05Speaker 1: pissed off. So they're looking to the people that they
- 14:09Speaker 1: work for in the CIA and they're like, if you
- 14:12Speaker 1: need us, we're here. And then the possibility of plan
- 14:16Speaker 1: is developed by somebody else and then bringing the Cubans
- 14:19Speaker 1: in to do the work. Yeah, I don't know, but
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's a very strong possibility. I know for sure that
- 14:26Speaker 1: the Cubans were ready to that's all they talked about
- 14:28Speaker 1: and they still do talk about, is that, you know,
- 14:31Speaker 1: the Cubans were the ones that probably did shoot Kennedy.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Just which one it was, nobody knows.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and let's let's slide over to New Orleans a
- 14:41Speaker 4: little bit now, sure, because we're kind of staying in
- 14:45Speaker 4: the time frame here after after you know, hooking up
- 14:48Speaker 4: with the CIA in Miami and O forty, we slide
- 14:52Speaker 4: over to Miami, I'm sorry, New Orleans, and we know
- 14:57Speaker 4: that they're training Cuban exiles around Lake Pontre training at
- 15:01Speaker 4: this time, right, and there's a whole lot of CD
- 15:03Speaker 4: stuff going on in New Orleans, a whole lot of
- 15:06Speaker 4: CD characters. But tell us a little bit about that
- 15:10Speaker 4: and how and how your dad came to realize that
- 15:14Speaker 4: Oswald was one of the persons that he was training there.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he he, Well, he would take us shooting when
- 15:24Speaker 1: we were young, since like the age of ten eleven
- 15:26Speaker 1: when he started showing us how to find bombs and
- 15:28Speaker 1: all that. So he would always take us out through
- 15:30Speaker 1: the Everglades and teach us how to shoot, sniper training
- 15:33Speaker 1: and all that stuff. In nineteen eighty two when I'm nineteen,
- 15:38Speaker 1: he he's it's the last year of his life. He's
- 15:43Speaker 1: left the witness protection program. He's been trying to sell
- 15:46Speaker 1: a book about his life. He's got a publisher interested,
- 15:50Speaker 1: so he's got it sold. He's been going on TV
- 15:53Speaker 1: shows talking about everything he did in his life. He
- 15:56Speaker 1: does magazine interviews and whatnot. Leaves witness protection. So he's
- 16:00Speaker 1: got no protection whatsoever. So one day he shows up
- 16:04Speaker 1: and he picks us up, which is what his mo
- 16:07Speaker 1: o was always the same way. He would show up
- 16:10Speaker 1: and out of the blue, he would just be like, yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: we were shooting hoops or something. Boom, you look over
- 16:16Speaker 1: and there you are standing by the car. Let's cool.
- 16:18Speaker 1: So we'd hop in the car, we'd take us off shooting.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So we were on the overglades working on sniper schools.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And he says, guys, you know, I am out of
- 16:29Speaker 1: witness protection. I got about three contracts out on me
- 16:32Speaker 1: here in Miami, and I don't know if I'm long
- 16:36Speaker 1: for the world. And I want you guys to know
- 16:39Speaker 1: as much as I can tell you about your father,
- 16:42Speaker 1: because I know that growing up you've heard everything. And
- 16:45Speaker 1: so I was shooting, he was talking. I was I
- 16:49Speaker 1: didn't have a good relationship with my dad at the time,
- 16:52Speaker 1: So I to me, it was like fuck you know,
- 16:56Speaker 1: fuck you you know, I just want to shoot you know.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So my brother asked them, did you kill Kennedy? Because
- 17:03Speaker 1: growing up as kids, we were accused of our father
- 17:05Speaker 1: having been one of the ones that killed Kennedy growing up.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And he says, I did not shoot J. F. Kennedy.
- 17:13Speaker 1: It wasn't me, but I was in Dallas the day
- 17:18Speaker 1: of the shooting because I was sent there with my crew,
- 17:20Speaker 1: my cleaning crew, and told just to go to Dallas
- 17:25Speaker 1: and to go to the hotel, check in and wait
- 17:28Speaker 1: for further instructions. So he says that's what he did.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And then while they were in Dallas the assassination happens,
- 17:38Speaker 1: they get a phone call that says go home because
- 17:41Speaker 1: obviously the assassination had gone as plan, the president was dead.
- 17:45Speaker 1: He believes that. He said he hinted at the fact
- 17:49Speaker 1: that if the like they had failed or wounded him,
- 17:52Speaker 1: then they would have been called in maybe to finish
- 17:54Speaker 1: it off somewhere or kill the snipers. Who knows he wasn't.
- 17:59Speaker 1: There was no it's very compartmentalized in that situation. He
- 18:04Speaker 1: only gets the instructions for his crew that's all he had.
- 18:07Speaker 1: He didn't have anything else. So that's uh where the
- 18:11Speaker 1: part one of that story. And then the other one
- 18:14Speaker 1: is after the assassination happens and he goes home, and
- 18:17Speaker 1: he goes back home, he sees Oswalt's picture and they
- 18:22Speaker 1: put it out on the paper in the national news
- 18:24Speaker 1: and stuff, and he goes, oh, my god, that's the
- 18:27Speaker 1: guy that was at the camp. That's one of the
- 18:29Speaker 1: guys that we were training to help him improve in
- 18:33Speaker 1: their sniper ability. Now a lot of people say Oswald
- 18:38Speaker 1: was a marksman. Yeah, he was a marksman. He had
- 18:42Speaker 1: a good grade in the marine for shooting. That grade
- 18:45Speaker 1: is based on static targets.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Okay, we have covered this.
- 18:52Speaker 3: He yeah, barely qualified for the middle category and then
- 18:57Speaker 3: in his last test qualified for the lowest category.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And that's a static target. They're shooting, they're not. My
- 19:06Speaker 1: dad had Pulley systems set up so you could. You'd
- 19:09Speaker 1: have to shoot like a master sniper has to put
- 19:11Speaker 1: a volley on two spots to be considered a master
- 19:14Speaker 1: sniper within a certain amount of time. That's what he
- 19:17Speaker 1: was training us. So we would send four down range,
- 19:20Speaker 1: four down range with a second in between the four
- 19:22Speaker 1: down ranges that you had to put all four on target.
- 19:25Speaker 1: So that's what we were training, and that's what he
- 19:27Speaker 1: was doing, training snipers on moving targets, because if you
- 19:33Speaker 1: want to kill somebody in a car, that's how you
- 19:36Speaker 1: do it. So it's not just learning how to shoot
- 19:39Speaker 1: a static target. So he said that based on what
- 19:43Speaker 1: he saw that he couldn't have done it because he
- 19:46Speaker 1: didn't have the ability. And two he missed the first shot,
- 19:50Speaker 1: which was the easiest shot in our opinion, to then
- 19:54Speaker 1: go with your heart beating old action, he's not. He's not.
- 19:59Speaker 1: He has a slow his heart rate, he doesn't know
- 20:01Speaker 1: how to do any of that stuff. And then you're
- 20:03Speaker 1: going to put two on target perfect shots. It's just
- 20:09Speaker 1: bewildering to think of somebody with that lack of talent
- 20:13Speaker 1: to be able to do that. That's what he said.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So and as a shooter myself, I find it hard
- 20:19Speaker 1: to believe that he put two on target. I think
- 20:22Speaker 1: he took the first shot missed. He could have been
- 20:25Speaker 1: a patsy in the way of let him shoot. We
- 20:28Speaker 1: know he's going to try to Maybe they knew he
- 20:30Speaker 1: was going to try to kill the president, so they
- 20:32Speaker 1: let him shoot. But they put a back up down
- 20:34Speaker 1: range and he shot the first shot. Second maybe he
- 20:38Speaker 1: hits them with the second shot, gets lucky, but that
- 20:41Speaker 1: third shot doesn't come from the back.
- 20:44Speaker 3: In my opinion, I completely agree with you, and I
- 20:49Speaker 3: know Rob Tuss as well.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I quote from the book.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Rick told his dad what his teacher said regarding lehr
- 20:57Speaker 3: vy Oswalt Ricardo snorted, he could never have made that shot.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I saw him shoot at the camp.
- 21:05Speaker 4: And do we know the raam that he was at
- 21:08Speaker 4: the camp and.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Didn't tell us. Yeah, he didn't tell us dates or times,
- 21:12Speaker 1: but it seemed to be months before the shooting, because
- 21:16Speaker 1: it didn't seem that that he connected a plan to
- 21:21Speaker 1: kill Kennedy. He didn't mention it, like you know, we
- 21:23Speaker 1: were training him to kill somebody, you know, Like so,
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't know if it was way early, but it
- 21:28Speaker 1: was in that year, in that year for sure. Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Well yeah, And another thing I have marked here from
- 21:42Speaker 3: your JFK chapter in the book. As Rick grew, his
- 21:46Speaker 3: questions about the whole JFK thing morphed into questions about
- 21:50Speaker 3: the whole JFK situation, time with his father was less
- 21:54Speaker 3: and less frequent, especially when he took some job for
- 21:57Speaker 3: the Venezuelan government, but didn't stop talking about JFK, and
- 22:02Speaker 3: Ricardo kept moving past the subject ancient history. He'd say,
- 22:07Speaker 3: like dinosaurs. Later, Ricardo would be more open to the discussion,
- 22:12Speaker 3: recounting the story of seeing Oswalt, who stood out as
- 22:15Speaker 3: one of a handful only a handful of Americans at
- 22:18Speaker 3: the CIA camp, as one of the more experienced operatives
- 22:24Speaker 3: and better shots in the group of mostly Cubans. Morales
- 22:27Speaker 3: assisted with some of the marksman training. He recalled Oswalt
- 22:31Speaker 3: as one of the trainees that needed guidance. Morales later
- 22:36Speaker 3: stunned upon the newspaper image of Oswalt as the man
- 22:40Speaker 3: arrested for the assassination.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Did your father ever mention Lauren Hall at all?
- 22:51Speaker 1: No. The only people that he mentioned to me were
- 22:54Speaker 1: Frank Sturgis, that he was one of his handlers, and
- 23:00Speaker 1: the other ci A was a gentleman by the name
- 23:02Speaker 1: of sant Janis who was also a CIA handler for
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Cubans. Those are his two CIA handlers that he
- 23:09Speaker 1: told us that he worked for. I see those, yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 1: And I think the Frank Sturgis connection is is it's
- 23:17Speaker 1: straight down the middle of the barrel. On that one.
- 23:19Speaker 1: You know, he's got the Hount connection with the Frank
- 23:21Speaker 1: Sturgis connection, Watergate connection, the Cubans that work for him,
- 23:25Speaker 1: So it all lines up pretty in my I mean,
- 23:29Speaker 1: of all the of all this, the theories that that
- 23:32Speaker 1: that are out there, I think the hot Sturgists and
- 23:37Speaker 1: them hiring the Cubans on behalf of whoever. Because I mean,
- 23:41Speaker 1: like I've said before, when we say did the CIA
- 23:44Speaker 1: kill Kennedy, it's a very very broad question. It doesn't
- 23:48Speaker 1: have to be yeah, it's It doesn't have to be
- 23:50Speaker 1: the head of the CIA is. I think a memo
- 23:52Speaker 1: bound kill Kennedy. It could be two agents on their
- 23:54Speaker 1: own that are sick and tired of the bullshit, have
- 23:57Speaker 1: somebody willing to do the job. And then you got
- 23:59Speaker 1: to big bank roll a guy who wants to you know,
- 24:03Speaker 1: the industrial war machine that wants to get rid of
- 24:05Speaker 1: Kennedy so they can go into Vietnam. They can go
- 24:08Speaker 1: into fight Communism out there and make money off wars.
- 24:13Speaker 1: That's what was going on at the time. The military
- 24:16Speaker 1: wanted to go into Vietnam because it's a money maker.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Kennedy was trying to fight going into Vietnam, so you
- 24:24Speaker 1: can get rid of them and you and you appease
- 24:26Speaker 1: the Cubans and you get rid of Kennedy, and you
- 24:29Speaker 1: can go to Vietnam. And that's what ended up happening.
- 24:31Speaker 1: After the Kennedy gets killed, we go to Vietnam.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and I agree. It's like a very nuanced question.
- 24:38Speaker 3: And I get all the time to the CIA from
- 24:41Speaker 3: people from Layman right that don't study this.
- 24:44Speaker 2: They go, did the CIA kill Jfka. I'm like, well,
- 24:48Speaker 2: are you talking about exiles.
- 24:49Speaker 1: That were trying CIA?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Are you talking about a couple of random case officers.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Are you talking about.
- 24:56Speaker 3: You know, Alan Dulls running the operation from the farm,
- 24:59Speaker 3: which Rob and I are definitely don't just subscribe to
- 25:03Speaker 3: It's it's it's it's very very It's an easy question,
- 25:08Speaker 3: but not an easy one to answer.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Yeah. The problem is that everybody's waiting for this magical
- 25:14Speaker 1: piece of paper to show up that says kill Kennedy.
- 25:18Speaker 1: You know, it's not going to show up. The CIA
- 25:20Speaker 1: greatest burnback operation you've ever seen in your life. So
- 25:24Speaker 1: any CIA agents and that were working in this, they
- 25:27Speaker 1: burned everything. They didn't leave paperwork behind, trickle stuff that
- 25:31Speaker 1: they didn't know about. Is coming out slowly here and there.
- 25:33Speaker 1: That connects. Yeah, there was a CIA monitoring OSMA. Looks
- 25:38Speaker 1: like it from the Joe Nitis file that just came out.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Looks like somebody was reading his nail for the CIA.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So it was obvious that the CIA knew who he
- 25:47Speaker 1: was and was watching him, which makes use which is
- 25:50Speaker 1: illegal because that they're not supposed to be working on
- 25:53Speaker 1: American soil. So what's going on that they're working on
- 25:56Speaker 1: American soil on American product. That's fbijurisdiction, not CIA jurisdiction.
- 26:02Speaker 1: So the only way they're involved is they're involved because
- 26:04Speaker 1: they're inside the planning.
- 26:06Speaker 3: So and I'm glad you brought that up because on
- 26:10Speaker 3: the show, a lot and Robo will attest to this.
- 26:12Speaker 3: We talk about the interagency conflicts, right and the rivalries,
- 26:17Speaker 3: but we've also been talking recently about the inter group
- 26:25Speaker 3: rivalry from the groups and organizations of Cuban exiles, whether
- 26:29Speaker 3: it's a cr RE, the CRC. What was the one
- 26:33Speaker 3: year Uncle was involved in Cuban power?
- 26:37Speaker 1: There was, Yeah, there was multiple. There was a couple
- 26:40Speaker 1: of Cuban power groups, so they were called the same name.
- 26:44Speaker 1: And then you had Alpha sixty six. You had Omega
- 26:47Speaker 1: seven and then you had the forty people, so yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 1: what's yeah? Everybody there was a yeah. As we like
- 26:57Speaker 1: to say in Spanish that the three letter agencies groups.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Everybody always gives himself three letters, so it's the thing.
- 27:04Speaker 1: So you have all these groups that are that are
- 27:07Speaker 1: trying to forment problems with Cuba and whoever's doing business
- 27:14Speaker 1: with Cuba out of Miami. So this is early upon
- 27:18Speaker 1: his arrival in the early sixties. My dad has, my
- 27:21Speaker 1: dad goes and this is a crazy story. So my
- 27:24Speaker 1: dad and my uncle, my mother's brother is also working
- 27:29Speaker 1: as in a Cuban power group, him and my grandfather
- 27:31Speaker 1: on my mother's side, they're also revolutionaries. So on this
- 27:35Speaker 1: one night they go bomb. He goes, my dad goes
- 27:38Speaker 1: to place a bomb in this uh I think it
- 27:41Speaker 1: was an American establishment, but it was late at night.
- 27:44Speaker 1: They wait till it's closed, so there's no body count.
- 27:47Speaker 1: My dad puts an envelope under the door with an
- 27:49Speaker 1: explosive device, and his views is long because he wants
- 27:54Speaker 1: to wait till later at night. Then my uncle shows up,
- 27:59Speaker 1: not aware my dad's group is bombing, and they're gonna
- 28:02Speaker 1: bomb the same place on the same night, and he
- 28:04Speaker 1: sets a short fuse and it blows up and it
- 28:07Speaker 1: activates my Dad's bomb and they it ruins everything. And
- 28:12Speaker 1: then they find a trace print, one trace print from
- 28:16Speaker 1: my dad. So the FEDS bring my dad in and
- 28:20Speaker 1: my dad says, Hi, how are you doing. He goes, Oh,
- 28:22Speaker 1: it's the monkey, you know. So he goes, I'm here
- 28:25Speaker 1: for you, guys. I'm the one that's going to help
- 28:27Speaker 1: you figure out what's going on in Miami because I
- 28:31Speaker 1: have access to all the Cuban groups. They all come
- 28:34Speaker 1: to me for the explosives. I have the C four,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I have everything I need. I got the weapons, So
- 28:41Speaker 1: use me to help you guys keep these Cuban groups
- 28:44Speaker 1: from causing because what was going on was they were
- 28:47Speaker 1: trying to kill people. And see some of them were
- 28:49Speaker 1: willing to kill innocent people, sink inititionships and cause damage,
- 28:56Speaker 1: and the FEDS and my dad were on that's going
- 28:58Speaker 1: to cause a war. You're going to start a war,
- 29:01Speaker 1: and they were trying. He just wanted to avoid a war,
- 29:04Speaker 1: so he went to work for the FEDS, basically picking
- 29:08Speaker 1: and choosing which groups he would give bombs that worked,
- 29:14Speaker 1: or he would give duds to other ones. And then
- 29:16Speaker 1: blame them for screwing up how he placed the bomb
- 29:18Speaker 1: and whatnot.
- 29:20Speaker 3: So if he didn't support the mission personally, he would
- 29:24Speaker 3: give them a dud bomb, which is.
- 29:26Speaker 1: What happened to doctor That's what happened to doctor Bosh.
- 29:30Speaker 1: My dad didn't believe that doctor Bosh was a good
- 29:33Speaker 1: man at heart. That he wanted he wanted to become
- 29:38Speaker 1: president of Cuba, and that was his motive for being
- 29:40Speaker 1: in these Cuban power groups. And my dad knew him
- 29:43Speaker 1: from Cuba, and the reputation was that he wasn't going
- 29:46Speaker 1: to be a good meant to be a president of Cuba.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So he just he made him feel like he was
- 29:52Speaker 1: working for him and then thwarted him almost at every
- 29:55Speaker 1: opportunity that he could. And and Bosh ends up going
- 30:00Speaker 1: to jail because of my dad turning him in because
- 30:03Speaker 1: they were able all the information that he gets. That's
- 30:05Speaker 1: the first time Bosh gets in trouble because of my
- 30:08Speaker 1: dad in Miami, which he gets in trouble again in
- 30:11Speaker 1: Venezuela later on. So that's what my dad's doing. He's
- 30:15Speaker 1: running the city as to who gets a good bomb,
- 30:18Speaker 1: who gets a bad bomb, who's fighting the right way?
- 30:21Speaker 1: Who's not fighting the right way. And in the meanwhile,
- 30:23Speaker 1: my uncle's still bombing for one of the Cuban power
- 30:25Speaker 1: groups and he goes out to California and he blows
- 30:28Speaker 1: up in their Canada office that's closed. Like I said,
- 30:31Speaker 1: there were never any body count there was never any
- 30:33Speaker 1: collateral damage. But they catch them. Yeah, but they catch him,
- 30:38Speaker 1: and they caught my uncle, and then my uncle goes
- 30:40Speaker 1: and and my uncle's refuses help. He refuses help. My
- 30:45Speaker 1: uncle's motto is the revolutionaries ribbons are jail or death.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I'm not you know, I don't want a special treatment
- 31:01Speaker 1: because my fellows aren't getting special treatment. So he did
- 31:05Speaker 1: like close to twenty years in jail for the bombing.
- 31:10Speaker 1: So but he refused help. He was and he's still
- 31:12Speaker 1: the same way. He's still a revolutionary. He's still speaking.
- 31:17Speaker 2: And didn't he escape, Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 1: That's yeah, he escapes. At one point he escapes from jail.
- 31:23Speaker 1: They got him on a work camp. By then, he's
- 31:25Speaker 1: been in jail for like eighteen years. And I show
- 31:28Speaker 1: up at my aunt's house and he's sitting on her
- 31:31Speaker 1: couch and I'm like, what's going on. He goes, Oh,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I got out early release. Let me go. So we
- 31:35Speaker 1: went outside playing tennis and all that good stuff. And
- 31:38Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, four days go by and
- 31:40Speaker 1: I go, where's hector at him? They say, oh, he
- 31:42Speaker 1: went back to jail. He was like, he escaped. I
- 31:45Speaker 1: didn't know. I was like thirteen, so that was clueless.
- 31:48Speaker 1: So yeah, he got arrested for the bombing and escape,
- 31:51Speaker 1: but then he gave him an extra year.
- 31:54Speaker 2: He gave Yeah. Man, these Cubans in Miami in the nineteen.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Sixties and after they were cowboys, soldiers of fortune, intelligence
- 32:04Speaker 3: assets and agents, and they lived like scarface type of lives.
- 32:10Speaker 2: And we're gonna get into some of this.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Paula Jane, one of our biggest channel supporters, said he
- 32:16Speaker 3: was in witness protection trying to sell his memoirs. And
- 32:20Speaker 3: I think she means at the time he died in
- 32:22Speaker 3: nineteen eighty two. We will get there, Paula, we will
- 32:25Speaker 3: get there.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:27Speaker 3: And James Smith, who at CIA was in direct command
- 32:31Speaker 3: of Operation forty.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Well, depends where. It depends where and when they were.
- 32:37Speaker 1: When they were in the Congo it was ripped. Rip
- 32:40Speaker 1: Robertson was the CIA in control of the forty team
- 32:44Speaker 1: because they were in after round when they were in Miami.
- 32:48Speaker 1: My understanding is.
- 32:49Speaker 2: That it's jam wave.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Jam way and now and then sant Janis and Frank
- 32:55Speaker 1: Sturgis are running the people.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Didn't all these Cumans find their way into the deepest
- 33:00Speaker 4: heart of Africa in the.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yeah, because what was going on was there was a
- 33:07Speaker 1: civil war going on in the Congo. And I don't
- 33:10Speaker 1: know if you remember the movie. There's a movie, old
- 33:12Speaker 1: movie called The Wild Geese where they show all these
- 33:15Speaker 1: militaries coming in, the Belgians, the British, they all go
- 33:18Speaker 1: in there to save their people in the in the Congo, it.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Was the Belgian. It was the Belgian Congo at the
- 33:24Speaker 2: Belgian Congo.
- 33:26Speaker 1: That's right, and they were fighting. The Congolese were fighting.
- 33:29Speaker 1: But what happened was Castro had been sending soldiers to
- 33:34Speaker 1: the Congo to help them fight. So OP forty sent
- 33:37Speaker 1: Cubans to the Congo to help fight the Cubans that
- 33:41Speaker 1: were fighting in the Congo so they could kill each other.
- 33:44Speaker 1: So the O forty team goes to the Congo and
- 33:47Speaker 1: there's fighting going on that they haven't seen any fighting.
- 33:51Speaker 1: And then there is an urgent call for a mission
- 33:53Speaker 1: to go to a village where some missionaries, locals and
- 34:00Speaker 1: from all countries, some from the US were being held
- 34:04Speaker 1: by the UH, by the by the rebels. It up
- 34:09Speaker 1: here now, yeah, and they were they were being held
- 34:13Speaker 1: and they were looking for somebody to go in, and
- 34:15Speaker 1: the Belgians said, nope, not our people were not going in.
- 34:18Speaker 1: The British didn't want to go in. And then they
- 34:20Speaker 1: went to Rip and they asked them ripped to the
- 34:21Speaker 1: Cubans while to go in, and Rip said, the Cubans
- 34:23Speaker 1: are dying to kill people out here, so they're they're
- 34:27Speaker 1: ready to go. So they asked them to go and
- 34:29Speaker 1: they sent them in. So they went into this village.
- 34:32Speaker 1: They shot their way in. My dad was riding on
- 34:34Speaker 1: the back of the machine a jeep with the fifty
- 34:37Speaker 1: machine gun. He was running that and he took up
- 34:41Speaker 1: a fifty cow and he took a shot to the back.
- 34:43Speaker 1: He took a slug to the back, but he kept shooting.
- 34:45Speaker 1: They made it into the village. Some of the people
- 34:48Speaker 1: had been killed already, but they were able to rescue,
- 34:51Speaker 1: you know, quite a few people and take them back.
- 34:54Speaker 1: And they fought their way back out and they made
- 34:56Speaker 1: it back to the camp. So they ended up rescuing
- 34:59Speaker 1: some reason locals.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Yes, and this is the picture. I guess it was
- 35:07Speaker 3: published on November twenty fourth, nineteen sixty four, but it
- 35:12Speaker 3: might have been taken on November twenty second, sixty four.
- 35:16Speaker 3: That is speculation. Your dad is number eight in the
- 35:22Speaker 3: middle here, Ricardo Morales, and you have number five here
- 35:29Speaker 3: as William Rip Robertson, and number two mister hefe Renee Garcia,
- 35:37Speaker 3: who was one of the pilots at the Bay of
- 35:40Speaker 3: Pigs who was promised umbrella air cover. Yep, right, once
- 35:46Speaker 3: once the brigade landed.
- 35:48Speaker 1: It makes total sense.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Now, yeah, one name associate him with a lot of
- 35:53Speaker 4: this stuff going on in the Congo. It jumped out
- 35:57Speaker 4: to me, is, of course, Frank Bartez. Francis Bartez.
- 36:04Speaker 1: M Yeah. I don't know much about his story. I
- 36:09Speaker 1: know about a couple of more on there. I know
- 36:10Speaker 1: Orlando Garcia. I ended up in Venezuela, part of the
- 36:13Speaker 1: CIA team. A lot of these people, like some of
- 36:16Speaker 1: these people end up going to Venezuela eventually and all
- 36:19Speaker 1: over South America.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Right, Bartes was in New Orleans.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah, that's right now, I know. Yeah, I
- 36:31Speaker 1: don't know anything else on him. I've heard the name,
- 36:34Speaker 1: but I don't know any personal stories about him. I
- 36:37Speaker 1: know the guy doing the right number nine is uh
- 36:42Speaker 1: uh was a CIA agent after the Congo, Yes, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: he was. He was also a pilot. There's another photo.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I don't know if I sent it to you. It's
- 36:52Speaker 1: just them two together hanging out.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yes, I have a couple, but I just think it's
- 36:58Speaker 3: interesting to point out that they are kind of mocking
- 37:03Speaker 3: JFK being the umbrella man of course on the side
- 37:07Speaker 3: of Daley Plaza. I think that was symbolic. And I
- 37:10Speaker 3: think you know, I have you seen the picture of
- 37:13Speaker 3: Rick Robertson allegedly and Dealey Plaza. I'm sure you have.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Uh looking at the picture, it's not raining, so.
- 37:22Speaker 2: No, so it seems to me to be mocking.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see, I have these two.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's looks two. That's my dad and the number
- 37:35Speaker 1: nine one is his name?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Your dad on the left here.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on the left. And then the guy with
- 37:41Speaker 1: the blowing the smoke that was number nine right next
- 37:43Speaker 1: to the woman in the group figure. Then that's my
- 37:45Speaker 1: dad in Cuba when he was getting married to my
- 37:48Speaker 1: mom at the courthouse when he was like twenty years old. Yeah,
- 37:52Speaker 1: he's a good he's already a he's already a Jesus
- 37:55Speaker 1: agent at that point.
- 37:56Speaker 2: So wow, at twenty, that's crazy.
- 37:58Speaker 1: That's twenty yeah, insane. And that's the talk with the
- 38:04Speaker 1: machine gun on the back. With that they drove into
- 38:08Speaker 1: into Stanleyville. That's in the congo.
- 38:10Speaker 2: And oh, this is in the congo. And which one
- 38:13Speaker 2: is your father?
- 38:14Speaker 1: The one with the machine gun mounting in He's the one, yeah,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and I fact he's the one with the gun, always.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Got it, got it. And on the left, I don't
- 38:23Speaker 2: know if this is Harper's magazine or no.
- 38:25Speaker 1: That's a personal family picture. Okay, I've shared it. I've
- 38:30Speaker 1: shared it a lot, but it's my I have a
- 38:33Speaker 1: my dad's friend took the picture and so we know
- 38:36Speaker 1: where it came from.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I'll give you the names.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Do you want. I'll give you those two names because
- 38:40Speaker 1: they're kind of important names there. But they're all three
- 38:42Speaker 1: of them are OP forty. So on the left, far left,
- 38:45Speaker 1: I can't tell you because they're twins. So the bookends
- 38:48Speaker 1: are twins. Those are the Via very Day brothers, File
- 38:52Speaker 1: and George. We have very Day Op forty, very very
- 38:55Speaker 1: implicated and uh rafile is very inflicated in the JFK
- 38:59Speaker 1: assassination probabilities, and he might have been one of his stipers.
- 39:03Speaker 1: If you pull him up and you look at his profile,
- 39:06Speaker 1: you'll see he he ends up dying in a mysterious
- 39:11Speaker 1: boat explosion in eighty two, the same year my dad died,
- 39:15Speaker 1: but before my dad. But that's and the one that's
- 39:18Speaker 1: in the from the second from the right is Carlos Casada.
- 39:22Speaker 1: He was the biggest drug dealer in Miami before the
- 39:25Speaker 1: Colombians came in. He was the biggest. Uh him. He's
- 39:29Speaker 1: one of the guys that Scarface is basically based on.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Right, So when before the Colombians came in and Escobar
- 39:38Speaker 3: and the Median cartel, it was really the Cubans that
- 39:41Speaker 3: were running the drug first marijuana, which your dad was
- 39:46Speaker 3: arrested for, and then later cocaine.
- 39:50Speaker 1: But yeah, they were. They were getting their cocaine from Bolivia.
- 39:53Speaker 1: It wasn't coming from from Colombia at the time. Columbia
- 39:58Speaker 1: doesn't start to get big to it and too closer
- 40:01Speaker 1: to the late seventies. So he uh they were again,
- 40:05Speaker 1: but this is he has that connection to Bolivia and
- 40:08Speaker 1: they have that because of his time in Venezuela before
- 40:11Speaker 1: the before.
- 40:12Speaker 3: That, yeah, yeah, and I want to talk about his
- 40:15Speaker 3: time in Venezuela. But after this picture, uh coll Morowski.
- 40:21Speaker 3: This was his lawyer. Am I current wrong?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's correct, that's one of his lawyers.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Called Morales a real life James Bond. He's been on
- 40:30Speaker 3: every side, there's been. Everything he does is for a reason.
- 40:34Speaker 3: He's got a master plan. He's the consummate professional. You
- 40:39Speaker 3: think that a guy as professionals he is. How is
- 40:43Speaker 3: he going to get into a bar fight? He was
- 40:45Speaker 3: never unprotected, he was never without the gun. And we'll
- 40:48Speaker 3: get to that. But yeah, I think your dad had
- 40:52Speaker 3: a comment, like a famous quote that says.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I'm yes, say yeah exactly, that's I don't.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't don't play to win the game. I
- 41:07Speaker 1: play to stay in the game. You're not gonna win
- 41:10Speaker 1: that you're gonna win. It's eventually you'll die and you'll
- 41:13Speaker 1: move on. That'll keep going, So you're not So I
- 41:16Speaker 1: don't play to win. I play to stay in the game.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Was his nom.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Yeah. But you know, as we will get into he
- 41:24Speaker 2: did die pretty young.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yeah, forty three, Yeah, all this happens in twenty years.
- 41:33Speaker 1: So twenty one gets married, G two forty three dies.
- 41:37Speaker 1: So you're compressing all the Cuba, Miami, all the Congo,
- 41:40Speaker 1: all Venezuela, and then back to Miami and Europe in
- 41:45Speaker 1: a short a short life.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to ask you a question. This is
- 41:51Speaker 3: a photograph that was taken allegedly in the nightclub in
- 41:54Speaker 3: Mexico City on January twenty second.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Sixty three.
- 41:58Speaker 3: It is believed that the men of the photos for
- 42:00Speaker 3: all members of Operation forty. Closest to the camera on
- 42:04Speaker 3: the left is Felix Rodriguez, who I believe still lot.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Next to him, Goss and Barry Seal being the Escobar pilot. Yep,
- 42:14Speaker 3: Tosh Plumbly is attending to hide his face.
- 42:17Speaker 1: So the right, I'm in contact with Plumbly. I've had
- 42:20Speaker 1: two conversations lately with him. Oh really, Yeah, he's still around.
- 42:24Speaker 1: You might want to get him on your show. I
- 42:26Speaker 1: get it. He's still around and sitt and he's got
- 42:33Speaker 1: a book coming out, so put it out, put down.
- 42:35Speaker 1: He's got a book coming out, so that's going to
- 42:37Speaker 1: be very intrigued.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I spoke, I spoke to him about that.
- 42:41Speaker 1: So the man's got a picture of him on a
- 42:46Speaker 1: tank in Cuba, in Santa Ana, Cuba, fighting with Castro. Man,
- 42:50Speaker 1: it's just he's got He's got the story from the
- 42:54Speaker 1: from fighting with Castro to working with the CIA, all
- 42:58Speaker 1: of that Cuba stuff. He knows it all. He has
- 43:01Speaker 1: all the information.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's interesting.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I forgot the name.
- 43:07Speaker 2: You'll find it, Yeah, we definitely will.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Uh this is the name of all the Cubanos in
- 43:13Speaker 3: al Congo.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Yeah, this is where I saw Francisco Bartez. That jumps
- 43:18Speaker 4: out to me. Poor he bring a jumps out to me.
- 43:24Speaker 2: As possibly related to Carlos.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that might be Carlo's brother or uncle, wouldn't surprise me.
- 43:32Speaker 4: And there's an Escadero Escadero. I can't even say it Escuadero,
- 43:39Speaker 4: not Tony Nester Escadero, but Orlando Lamirez Escadero.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Related.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's basically the whole team, don't I don't think
- 43:51Speaker 1: they were all there at the same time. I think
- 43:53Speaker 1: they were like and they went.
- 43:54Speaker 2: In waves, like a rotation, right.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Like a rotation correct, And and your dad, you.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Know, the Congo at that time, you know, like you mentioned,
- 44:05Speaker 3: the exiles went on missions that no one else wanted
- 44:08Speaker 3: to go on. He had some serious PSD up until
- 44:13Speaker 3: his death about his time in the Congo.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Correct.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Correct, because they there was a lot of the death
- 44:20Speaker 1: that he saw when they were in Trying to say
- 44:23Speaker 1: that there were bodies all over the streets. They were
- 44:26Speaker 1: also problems with the Congolese had a you know, like
- 44:31Speaker 1: the type of voodoo medicine stuff like that, So there
- 44:34Speaker 1: was cannibalism that was going on at the time. There
- 44:37Speaker 1: was sacrifices that they were doing because they would do voodoo.
- 44:40Speaker 1: They were They went through one town and the people
- 44:42Speaker 1: were hiding and there was like there's one of those
- 44:44Speaker 1: like a chief war priest dude walking through the streets
- 44:48Speaker 1: trying to do a saca, you know, one of those
- 44:50Speaker 1: sacrificial dances or whatever. So they were dealing with that
- 44:53Speaker 1: kind of death. There wasn't just shooting people and killing people.
- 44:57Speaker 1: He saw. They saw a lot of He came back
- 45:00Speaker 1: a change name. That's what everybody in the family that
- 45:03Speaker 1: I talked to for the book said that when he
- 45:05Speaker 1: came back from the Congo, he was not the same
- 45:08Speaker 1: guy that went to the Congo. He came back a
- 45:11Speaker 1: changed man. I think it made him like numb to
- 45:16Speaker 1: the feelings.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean PTSD is no, you know, not serious thing.
- 45:22Speaker 3: And it's funny because I'm going to bring up how
- 45:24Speaker 3: Monkey Morales got his nickname and because he went into
- 45:28Speaker 3: a village after it was pretty much slaughtered, and there
- 45:32Speaker 3: was one girl that survived, and he put her on
- 45:37Speaker 3: his shoulders yep, right, kind of like a monkey does.
- 45:41Speaker 2: And he was carrying on.
- 45:42Speaker 1: His back and he and for like four or five
- 45:44Speaker 1: days she was attached to him. So he was always
- 45:48Speaker 1: carrying her around the camp on his back. And one
- 45:50Speaker 1: of the Cubans, in a joking matter, says, oh, there
- 45:53Speaker 1: comes a monkey. He goes. It looked like he had
- 45:57Speaker 1: a you know, it's racist. I'm I'm just telling the
- 46:01Speaker 1: story and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna change it.
- 46:03Speaker 1: But that's basically.
- 46:05Speaker 4: He was always clambing on ship, right right.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Yeah a monkey? Yeah yeah, well some people do you
- 46:13Speaker 1: know how it is nowadays. So I just because somebody says,
- 46:16Speaker 1: you know, yeah, look you look like you carry here
- 46:18Speaker 1: comes the monkey, it's you know, it's kind of an
- 46:20Speaker 1: insult to somebody. So but that's the truth. I'm not
- 46:24Speaker 1: gonna change it to make him look better or worse
- 46:27Speaker 1: or anything. It's what we it's what it is. But
- 46:31Speaker 1: he did it for it was a good thing that
- 46:32Speaker 1: he was doing. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:37Speaker 3: So so let's go now to the nineteen sixties in
- 46:41Speaker 3: the Congo, right. I think he's there sixty four or
- 46:44Speaker 3: sixty five ish, sure, and then at some point closer
- 46:48Speaker 3: to nineteen seventy, maybe he goes to Venezuela.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Correct me from go.
- 46:53Speaker 1: He goes Yeah, he goes back to Miami first. So
- 46:55Speaker 1: he goes back to Miami first, and he meets up
- 46:59Speaker 1: with Louis Posaala. Louis Posada is a CIA operative, very
- 47:06Speaker 1: famous everybody knows. And we'll get further into Posada into
- 47:10Speaker 1: the Venezuela story. So Bosala had been working for Lefty
- 47:15Speaker 1: Rosenthal helping bomb places. So Bosala have been assigned to
- 47:24Speaker 1: go to Venezuela and take over the Decet, the spy
- 47:29Speaker 1: agency in Venezuela. So he took off to Venezuela. But
- 47:32Speaker 1: before he took off, he gave Lefty my dad's number
- 47:38Speaker 1: to UH so that he can have a bomber that
- 47:40Speaker 1: he would use. So Lefty hires my dad. They meet
- 47:45Speaker 1: and they have a good conversation and he says all right,
- 47:48Speaker 1: and my left he starts hiring my dad to place
- 47:51Speaker 1: bombs in different places in Miami. Now you got to
- 47:54Speaker 1: realize that this time in Miami, there's so many bombs
- 47:57Speaker 1: going off that the newspaper has created like a baseball
- 48:01Speaker 1: box score sheet of you know how many this day,
- 48:04Speaker 1: these many bombings at these places, three bombs on Thursday
- 48:08Speaker 1: four and they're tragging it like so many and you
- 48:11Speaker 1: can still look those up. So but Rosie, Lefty Rosenthal
- 48:17Speaker 1: wants a bookie operation shut down because somebody's running it
- 48:22Speaker 1: without permission. So he sends me He tells them, I
- 48:26Speaker 1: just want to knock down the wall. I don't want
- 48:30Speaker 1: it to kill anybody. I don't want anybody hurt. We
- 48:33Speaker 1: just are sending messages. So that's so my dad does.
- 48:35Speaker 1: He goes, he scopes out the store clowns I believe
- 48:38Speaker 1: it was, and he finds the way. He goes inside
- 48:42Speaker 1: and he recon orders the place and he figures out
- 48:45Speaker 1: and he puts a bomb and it blows up and
- 48:47Speaker 1: knocks down the wall and it doesn't hurt anybody. So
- 48:50Speaker 1: that's the first message that he sends with him with Lefty,
- 48:54Speaker 1: and then Lefty hires him for two or three more bombings,
- 48:57Speaker 1: but one of them turns out to be a cop
- 48:58Speaker 1: who wants to bomb another cops house to send a message.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And when they find out that's what they did, my
- 49:05Speaker 1: dad says, enough of this, because you guys are now
- 49:08Speaker 1: we have an agreement with the cops, so they're not
- 49:10Speaker 1: gonna do anything to us. But if you kill a cop,
- 49:13Speaker 1: And he didn't know that he was working for another cop,
- 49:16Speaker 1: so at that point, when he found out it was
- 49:18Speaker 1: cop against cop, he ton'd left the No more of
- 49:21Speaker 1: this unless it's for you and the business the mafia.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I don't want to. I'm not getting involved in local
- 49:28Speaker 1: City of Miami politics and stuff like that. So then
- 49:33Speaker 1: he uh, he does a bombing of a boat and
- 49:36Speaker 1: a car outside of the rival's house. I think the
- 49:39Speaker 1: guy had stolen his girlfriend. It's basically like the movie
- 49:42Speaker 1: Casino where his girlfriend is cheating on him and whatnot
- 49:46Speaker 1: and the guy who stole his wife.
- 49:48Speaker 5: Yeah, and by the way, and by the way, uh
- 49:51Speaker 5: what the rosenh Thall is based on the Robert de
- 49:56Speaker 5: Niro character in Casina Cross for People that are.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Nowhere, Yeah, and he had lost his girlfriend and the
- 50:02Speaker 1: guy who stole his girlfriend had a place in Miami,
- 50:04Speaker 1: and the boat was named after his girlfriend, so he
- 50:06Speaker 1: wanted the boat blown up. So my dad jumped in
- 50:09Speaker 1: the river with a rebreather, went under the water and
- 50:11Speaker 1: put the boat under, the bomb under the boat, and
- 50:14Speaker 1: then he went in and put a bomb under the
- 50:16Speaker 1: car and threw the boat up and brew the car up.
- 50:18Speaker 1: So the guy got the message and let the girl go.
- 50:21Speaker 1: He didn't stay with the girl any longer. So those
- 50:23Speaker 1: were the kind of things. And then there's one more
- 50:25Speaker 1: I can give you. It's the famous Murph the Surf
- 50:29Speaker 1: story where Murph the Surf steals the Star of India
- 50:33Speaker 1: and a bunch of diamonds and emeralds from the I
- 50:38Speaker 1: think it's in New York, the Museum of Natural History
- 50:40Speaker 1: at the time. Time. And so there's a guy who's
- 50:45Speaker 1: fencing me and left. He brings my dad with him
- 50:48Speaker 1: to go meet the fence and the fence. Something happens
- 50:52Speaker 1: between Leftian and the fence, and I doesn't like what's
- 50:55Speaker 1: going on, so my dad pulls out the gun and
- 50:57Speaker 1: shoots the guy in the eye, and the guy doesn't die,
- 51:01Speaker 1: but he doesn't press charges. When they ask him we
- 51:03Speaker 1: shot you, he doesn't say we shot him. My dad
- 51:05Speaker 1: is the one later on admits to the shooting in
- 51:07Speaker 1: an interview that he gives later on before he dies.
- 51:11Speaker 1: So that's what he was doing for Lefty. He was
- 51:13Speaker 1: left He's hitman or a Lefties bomber. That's happening for
- 51:18Speaker 1: a couple of years, and then Lefty leaves for Vegas.
- 51:23Speaker 1: And when he leaves for Vegas, my dad gets a
- 51:27Speaker 1: job offer from Posada in Venezuela to become the second
- 51:32Speaker 1: in command of the Venezuelan Secret Police, which is a
- 51:35Speaker 1: decet DIIP. They're basically like our CIA, but for them locally,
- 51:41Speaker 1: they're an FBI CIA type of agency. And my dad
- 51:44Speaker 1: is in control of all the airports. That's one of
- 51:47Speaker 1: his major responsibilities. So he's in control of the airports
- 51:51Speaker 1: of Venezuela. Anybody coming in and coming out, he deals
- 51:55Speaker 1: with all that stuff. So in the beginning of Venezuela,
- 52:01Speaker 1: what they're doing is the CIA has planted all these
- 52:03Speaker 1: people in powerful positions, even the vice president, which my
- 52:06Speaker 1: dad says in the interview, he goes, I recruited the
- 52:08Speaker 1: vice president of Venezuela who became a CIA operative. Also
- 52:11Speaker 1: because this Venezuela at the time wanted to be able
- 52:16Speaker 1: to control that region of the world where they were
- 52:19Speaker 1: at they have they still have problems with their neighbors
- 52:21Speaker 1: and Guyana and stuff like that that they're trying to
- 52:23Speaker 1: take land and because of trich with oil. So they
- 52:27Speaker 1: made an agreement with the CIA to allow the CIA
- 52:32Speaker 1: to come into Venezuela because they were running it anyway.
- 52:34Speaker 1: It's my dad Basalah. All those people are Venezuela as
- 52:39Speaker 1: the Venezuela they were coming, the Americans were coming in
- 52:42Speaker 1: and at the same time Israel sent the Mosad because
- 52:45Speaker 1: what was happening is they were trying to find Nazis
- 52:48Speaker 1: in Venezuela. So Mostat comes in and trains my dad
- 52:51Speaker 1: and a couple of other agents because they want to
- 52:53Speaker 1: send them out into the field to try to find
- 52:56Speaker 1: doctor Mangdela and other Nazis. And you can't really sending
- 53:00Speaker 1: Mosad agents to You can send some, but they don't
- 53:03Speaker 1: speak Spanish stand out. So they wanted to train these
- 53:08Speaker 1: Cubanans that were working for the CIA. So he received
- 53:10Speaker 1: all this Mozad training at that time, and they were
- 53:13Speaker 1: looking for Mengo, but they never found Mego. Mengal ends
- 53:15Speaker 1: up dying while swimming of a heart attack or something in
- 53:18Speaker 1: South America. But he was close, he was close, they
- 53:22Speaker 1: were close to finding him, but he never He receives
- 53:26Speaker 1: a medal from Gold in my Ear, just a thank
- 53:30Speaker 1: you metal for participating with the Masad and helping the
- 53:33Speaker 1: Massad on the Nazis. So it was like a medal
- 53:36Speaker 1: of appreciation, a medal of danger from Masad right from yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 1: from Gold in my Ear through Mozart.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Which is crazy to think, like, as we've gone through
- 53:46Speaker 3: your dad's career, here here he is in the seventies
- 53:49Speaker 3: in Venezuela hunting Nazis that have fled to South America.
- 53:54Speaker 1: It's yeah, and they're in charge of the drug trade
- 53:57Speaker 1: because what's going on is in Bolivia the people people
- 54:00Speaker 1: that are selling the cocaine are the descendants of those
- 54:03Speaker 1: Nazis that came over. They have all the money and
- 54:06Speaker 1: the power. So that's one of the reasons they're hunting
- 54:09Speaker 1: the Nazis because the cocaine is coming from Bolivia through
- 54:13Speaker 1: Venezuela to the United States, and then weapons are going
- 54:17Speaker 1: back through Venezuela because my dad controls the airport, so
- 54:20Speaker 1: he's allowed, he allows the passage and the US is
- 54:23Speaker 1: sending guns to Chile and all those countries to stir
- 54:26Speaker 1: up problems and try to overthrow those those governments. That's
- 54:31Speaker 1: where all the weapons smuggling begins. That later on turns
- 54:33Speaker 1: into Iran Contra and a couple of years after my
- 54:36Speaker 1: dad dies, But the beginning of it all starts through
- 54:39Speaker 1: Venezuela because they have all these agents that are that
- 54:43Speaker 1: are working for them in Venezuela.
- 54:46Speaker 2: That is a crazy story.
- 54:47Speaker 1: So uh, let me well, we haven't even got to
- 54:50Speaker 1: the plane in Venezuela. Yeah, yes, let's knock off Venezuela.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, well, please please explain the situation, all right.
- 54:57Speaker 1: So, while while he's in Venezuela where and they're doing
- 55:00Speaker 1: all that, there has been a plan in place by
- 55:03Speaker 1: Cuban power and different Cuban organizations c or du Cordu
- 55:08Speaker 1: is one of them. Bosh is involved in the original
- 55:13Speaker 1: planning and conversation about attacking Cuban targets and maybe attacking
- 55:18Speaker 1: their airplane because Cuba was using three airliners they had
- 55:23Speaker 1: leased from the British that were Air Canada planes that
- 55:27Speaker 1: were DC tens I believe at the time, and they
- 55:30Speaker 1: had three of them and they were using those to
- 55:31Speaker 1: ferry troops to the Congo. Those are the planes that
- 55:35Speaker 1: they used, and they also used them for their bureaucrats
- 55:40Speaker 1: and their leaders and whatnot to travel from places.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:42Speaker 3: So, so Castro Cubans were fighting anti Castro Cubans in Africa.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Right right, and that's how they were using those planes.
- 55:53Speaker 1: So they there was only one plane left that they
- 55:55Speaker 1: were using that was in service, and the Cuban that
- 55:57Speaker 1: were in Venezuela, the anti Castros wanted to blow that
- 56:00Speaker 1: plane up, but they wanted to blow it up on
- 56:03Speaker 1: the ground. Was the original plan. So at a certain
- 56:07Speaker 1: point the plan goes into operations somehow. Orlando Bosh is
- 56:11Speaker 1: trying to get to Chile because his wife, his new wife,
- 56:15Speaker 1: is from Chile and he wants to retire. He's an
- 56:17Speaker 1: old man and he looks for help to get to
- 56:19Speaker 1: Chile and he comes to a guy that is connected
- 56:23Speaker 1: with my dad, and my dad offers him, sure, come
- 56:27Speaker 1: to Venezuela and I'll take care of you, and he
- 56:30Speaker 1: put him away once, but he goes ahead and trusted
- 56:32Speaker 1: him again and my dad puts him up in his apartment.
- 56:35Speaker 1: He's staying at the in Rocas at the Hilton and
- 56:39Speaker 1: Bosh is living with my father in the same place,
- 56:43Speaker 1: which makes no sense whatsoever, because I don't know how
- 56:46Speaker 1: he trusted him. But at that point the bombers come
- 56:51Speaker 1: to my dad. My dad says, go to the explosives
- 56:53Speaker 1: rooms and just take whatever you want. So they take
- 56:55Speaker 1: the C four explosive with him and they build a bomb.
- 56:58Speaker 1: And while the plane lands in Barbados and is leaving
- 57:02Speaker 1: Barbados and they plant the bomb. Now, the plane was late.
- 57:05Speaker 1: There's a timing issue with the plane's arrival and departure.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Time is one of the problems that could have caused
- 57:12Speaker 1: the bomb to go off in the air as opposed
- 57:14Speaker 1: to on the ground. Because the guy cleaning the plane
- 57:17Speaker 1: pretended to be ground crews planted the bomb and it
- 57:19Speaker 1: was supposed to go off like no time later, so
- 57:22Speaker 1: there'd be no people on the plane. Just blow it
- 57:24Speaker 1: up on the ground. We don't care about the people.
- 57:26Speaker 1: But then something turns up later, which is that five
- 57:31Speaker 1: North Koreans bor died that plane in Barbados.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Delegates right.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Yeah, from the government coming to meet with the Cuban government.
- 57:43Speaker 1: And this is the exact time that they become nuclear
- 57:46Speaker 1: in North Korea. So did somebody give an order to
- 57:51Speaker 1: change when the timer so that it would blow up
- 57:55Speaker 1: in the air and kill all the communists and those
- 57:58Speaker 1: five North Koreans, or the guy who set the timer
- 58:02Speaker 1: fuck up and and it went too late, he put
- 58:05Speaker 1: the time around too long, and the plane took off
- 58:08Speaker 1: before Nobody knows. But the result of it is that
- 58:14Speaker 1: my dad arrests Orlando bosh And and they get arrest Posada,
- 58:20Speaker 1: they arrest the two guys that planted the bomb. They
- 58:22Speaker 1: all get arrested. My dad doesn't get arrested. Then Venezuela
- 58:26Speaker 1: starts denying that these people even work for the government,
- 58:29Speaker 1: even though they've been working for the government there for
- 58:31Speaker 1: like four years already. And so you've got this this
- 58:35Speaker 1: plane that's been killed. Seventy three people die, and they
- 58:40Speaker 1: arrest all these three people. My dad finds his way
- 58:43Speaker 1: back to the US. They take them in, they give
- 58:46Speaker 1: them a deposition, ask them questions, and after the deposition
- 58:49Speaker 1: is over, they just let them go. They don't even
- 58:51Speaker 1: arrest them for they don't they don't care. You know,
- 58:54Speaker 1: it's like he's got the CIA connection. They know, they
- 58:56Speaker 1: know what happened. Let him go and he walks, but
- 59:00Speaker 1: he's blown. Yeah, but he's cut. But but he's blown,
- 59:03Speaker 1: and from that moment on he had to figure out
- 59:06Speaker 1: a way to get back to the US. He was blown.
- 59:08Speaker 1: They were not they're not acknowledging that he works for
- 59:10Speaker 1: the CIA, but as well as not acknowledging that he
- 59:13Speaker 1: worked for them, So he's out of it. He's burned.
- 59:16Speaker 1: He has no work for for the government. So that's
- 59:19Speaker 1: when he goes back to his Cuban friends that are
- 59:21Speaker 1: now the biggest drug dealers in Miami and says, I
- 59:24Speaker 1: have a lot to offer you, and they say, yeah,
- 59:27Speaker 1: we would like you to join our our team, and
- 59:29Speaker 1: he joins the cocaine trade and pot trade first, and
- 59:33Speaker 1: then the cocaine trade.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Wow wow, And uh, could you tell us the story
- 59:41Speaker 3: of when the prosecution called him as a witness for
- 59:47Speaker 3: for sure?
- 59:47Speaker 1: For sure? That's the TikTok. Yeah, yeah, there's there's this
- 59:51Speaker 1: the largest case, the largest cocaine case ever. What happens
- 59:55Speaker 1: is my dad. Somebody snitches on my dad that he's
- 59:59Speaker 1: hauling that marri on his shipment and the cops arrest
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: him and he gets pissed off at them because there
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: was a crew that he was working for. Somebody had
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: snitched on him. He beats the marijuana case, gets out
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: and says, fuck you, I'm going to snitch on you
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: guys now. So he went to the cop to the
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Feds that he knew, and he said, I can get
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: you the biggest cocaine ring in Miami. Sure, So they
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: go and they hide a listening device in a wall
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: clock and it's called the TikTok's case because you can
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: hear the clock going tick talk the whole time in
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: the in the recordings. So they arrest I think it's
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: like thirty people in this ring, you know, and a
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: lot of them are his friends.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Right, former former Bay of Pigs, former.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Bay of Pigs. Yeah, a lot friends from Cuba. Forty
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: team members, you know, a lot of people that he knew.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: So he gives you know, he goes and he gives
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: a da what he's going to tell him, and he
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: gives them all that stuff. And then when they go
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: to court on the first day of court, he walks
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: into court, walks over to the prosecution table the defense
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: table where the defendants are at, and he salutes them.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: A few of them salute back, a few of them
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: stand up, they start hugging. They start saying hi to
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: each other. They're giving each other love, and the district
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: attorney freaks out because she doesn't. She thinks, wow, he's flipped.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: He's not gonna talk about it, and she she she
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: doesn't ask him any questions when he's on the stand.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: She's like afraid to say anything. So she says, I'm
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: not gonna ask any questions of this witness. And then
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: the other one's the prosecutor, goes, we don't have any
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: you know, the defense prosecutor, we don't have any questions either,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and they throw the case out. The case gets dismissed,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: and nobody goes.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: You can't have cross if you don't direct.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Yeah, So he got the cold place flushed, got everybody.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Everybody got off. Some of the people like yeah. Carlos
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Casale ended up losing some money, but the government had
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: to return four hundred thousand dollars to him because at
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the time there were no four fiture laws, so it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: not like now where they catch you as a dirgey
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: and they take your house or cars and everything. Back then,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the only thing they got him for was kom taxivasion,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: so he had to pay what he owed in taxes
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: for the amount of money that they found that he had,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: but couldn't prove how he had gotten the money, so
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: they couldn't take it away. So he ends up getting
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: four hundred thousand dollars paid back to him. So they
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: you know, they came out okay from the from the situation.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: And my dad was put into witness protection because of
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: that case because there was they wanted him dead at
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: the time, right, So that's what happens with that case. Yeah,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: that's how he gets it throw.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: So he went to witness protection late seventies ish, yeah,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: no eighty yeah, late seventy I would say closer to
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: eighty any one. And then he leaves witness protection.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he's frustrated. He can't live that life. I mean,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: he's never been a guy who's had a job and
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: no juice, no excitement, you know, you gotta have excitement.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: And he leaves and that's when he comes back to
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Miami without winness protection as I said earlier, and he
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: picks him up one day and takes a shoe right right,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: So that's how he gets back to Miami. But when
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: he gets back to Miami, there's people looking for him
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: to kill it.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Contracts out of him. Yeah, and and and one thing
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: I noticed about your dad and one thing I noticed
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: and like, listening to all these former Special Forces guys
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: on YouTube, there are adrenaline junkies. Oh right, yeah, I
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: think that's exactly what what your father was. And oh yeah,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: I believe he hit the bottle hard and other things
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: every yeah, you know.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Yeah, at the end, he was doing drugs. Yeah, he
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: was out. He was he had nothing to h to
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: drain that, all that that he had inside of him
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: that he wanted to do, he had no outlet for it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: So then the booze and the drugs that he's selling
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: takes over, and then you lose a step, you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: you lose a step. You're not a sharp as you
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: as you were before, and things start to happen, and
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: that's what it catches up to him.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: Right, So, your dad is killed in nineteen eighty two
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: in a bar fight, a gunfight allegedly. At this time,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: he was kind of doing his mini book tour. He
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: was trying to sell his life story. And I just
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: want to get your thoughts on was this bar fight.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: I guess the guy who shot him was an off
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: duty cop or something, right, an.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Off duty Cuban cop from Cuba. He wasn't a Miami cop.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: He had been a cop. And if there's a I
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: can tell you the story, and it's gonna it's a
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: little convoluted because there's a lot of players involved, but
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I'll give you the So my dad that day, my
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: dad that day started drinking early, and him had a friend,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: a guy friend, and a girl that he knew and
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: that a lot of people knew.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Didn't he sell her ex husband?
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. There's a lot of so
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: her uh, her first husband killed somebody and then he
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: killed him and her husband. So, yes, he had killed
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: one of her husbands. Because the other husband, the other
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: ex husband, is part owner of the club where he
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: ends up getting killed at. So that gives you a
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: connection with her and the bar that he ends up
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: going to. So at some point in the evening, she
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: starts asking, let's go to Cherry's in keep this game,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: which is the name of the bar, and it's called
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Rogers on the Green, and then the bar is called Cherry's,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: so as a restaurant in a bar, and she's bugging
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: my dad and my dad saying no, this comes from
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: the third person that was in the room that night
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: until the shooting. And then eventually he gets tired of
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: her asking let's go to and says, all right, okay,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: let's go. So they go to Cherries. They go to Cherries,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: they walk in. The owner of Cherries is Roger Novo
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: and Jan Sid who's not there that night, but one
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Sid is Nancy Sid, the woman and my dad with
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: ex husband, So you've got that ex husband. Also, my
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: dad is also a witness and a case against him
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: for tax evasion, so there's another reason for that guy.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I want them dead. Orlando Torres, who is the shooter
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: that kills my dad, works for One Sid as a
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: bodyguard and works for Roger as a bouncer at the club.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: So it's you're one. You're walking into a situation that
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: he my dad doesn't know Orlando Torres. He knows Roger.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: So Roger and my dad begin to talk and argue
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: about something whatever, and my dad goes to leave, and
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: it's because Nancy doesn't want to pay for the drinks
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: because their ex husband owns half the bar. So somebody
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: says that somebody called my dad a faggot also on
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: the way out, so my dad goes back in by himself.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Nancy stays outside and the other guy stays outside. They
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: don't go back in, and while he's in there, he's
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: arguing with Roger, so it appears that he's face to
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: face with Roger, and at some point somebody pulls out
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: a gun. My Dad's got a gun in his ankle holster,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: but he never makes it to the ankle holster. He
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: bends down and Orlando Torres had come up behind him
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: and put a bullet in the back of his head.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: He never saw it coming. So Roger had a gun
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: on him also that night, So my dad was probably
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: worried about Roger pulling out a gun and might have
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: gone for his gun, because if my dad had gone
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: there to kill Roger, that makes no sense. If my
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: dad wants to kill Roger Novo, he just appears, Roger
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Novo just disappears, so the guy shoots my dad. The
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: cases of Clusterfuck from the beginning with the cops. The
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: cops show up. They tell that people tell him it
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: was a bar fight, says, and it's in the paper
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: with the life that Morales has left. If they're telling
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: me it's a barfight, I'm happy with that I can
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: live with that because how many people wanted him, which
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also, so they he's killed
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and we find out. We go to the hospital the
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: next day and you know, we say guard goodbyes and whatnot.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Our uncle tells us my dad's brother, Rolando Morales.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Tells us not so revolutionary, correct.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Yeah, also a revolutionary back in Cuba. Yes, he was
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: supposed to be in the Bay of Pigs and he
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: had an appendicitis attack and they had to ship him
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: out off the boat and take him to a hospital
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: on the main lane, so he didn't get the land.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: So but so he tells us to go about our lives.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: He doesn't want us because my brother was a marine,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: so he's a little headstrong. And I'm out on the
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: streets already being a bad guy, you know, trying to
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: follow in my father's footsteps at the time. And he
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: tells us to just go about our lives, and so
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: we do. And two years passed by and I get
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: a call, living in Palmeech County at the time, and
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I get a call and all the call says is
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: go buy the local news from Miami and hangs up
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: on me. And I'm like, okay, so I go down.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I'm in Palmi, so I have to get the herald
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: in the local news. Roger Novo found dead out in
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: West Day dumping in the swamp out there, and nobody
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: knew who had killed Roger. And it turns out later on,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: when my uncle is dying, he confesses on his bedside
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: to his family, to the family and to a priest,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: because they called the priest because he was his last rights,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: and he confessed that he was the one that killed
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Roger in retaliation for right. And people would ask why Roger,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Roger didn't shoot you that Orlando Torres did. My uncle
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: made a decision which person involved in that What we
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: figure was a coordinated plan to get him there and
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: have a fight with him so we could shoot him,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: so they could shoot him, which one would hurt the most.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Orlando Torres was an outsider, He wasn't loved, He was
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: a hired one guy went off. Roger Novo met Moore
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: in that situation because that was the main protagonist. So
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: that's why he killed Roger instead of killing that was.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Roger related to the other Novo brothers at all, No
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I know, it was kind of uh snitched to the
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: FBI Italiate bombing.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that's ah, that's one of the bombings that my
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: dad knows about because it was dealing with the Chileans
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: that were trying to to uh overthrow the government and
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: get Pinochet in. Then the c i A was down
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: there messing Chile up and and they killed uh, the
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: the ambassador, I think it was the ambassador, Orlando LeTellier.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: They killed them with a bomb. That's where I believe
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the other guys from the outboard team might come into
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: play the Verdes and then they might be involved in
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: that one. I'm not one hundred percent sure, but they're
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: involved in the bomb.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: Yes, these were related and.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Those, Yeah, but there it's a differential.
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: Retaliation for that maybe for him.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no, that was a different one. Yeah.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: Yeah. So I asked uh.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: A couple of people if they had any questions for you,
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: and UH one of the questions is, uh, do you
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: love the Lone Gum and podcast?
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Of course that would be yes. So I'm not even
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: gonna make you answer that.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Uh who did who did your father think was behind
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: the plan? So I just want to give this background,
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: and I don't say this very often. I'm almost certain
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: the shooters, not Oswalt of JFK, were Cuban exiles that
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: were living that cowboy life, going on raids, risking their lives.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: I don't know what it is. Obviously, if I could
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: solve the case, I'd be happy to do. You share
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: that belief, and what did your father think? And what
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: do you think? And then we got a little to
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: what your father thought earlier.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I said, I believe that my father that
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: the Cubans had had it with Kennedy and we're itching
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: to get rid of them because he had given up Cuba.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: So I feel that somebody that was handling the Cubans
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: at the time knew that they were willing to do it,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: and then they had somebody hatch to plan. I don't
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: know if it was how far up it goes, I
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: don't know. I tend to lean to lean towards the
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Hunt and Sturge's gang because they had more dealings with
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Cubans and most of the other ones. And there's that
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Hunt stuff that's you know, it's pretty mysterious with his
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: wife dying and uh, the money and all that stuff
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: that came out in Watergate, and that you know, that
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: plane that crashes when she leaves her husband mysteriously and
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: she has like a hundred couple of hundred grand on her.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: If you watch the show, the Watergate show the Plumbers,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I think it was called it out on HBO, it
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: has that story in it. So based on those that
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: from what I've heard and all the stories, I would say, rogue,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: rogue c I a with rogue Cubans and then powerful
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: people with money, easy to do.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Right and and of course Rip Robertson comes to mind.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: Right whether he was in the right, whether he was
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: in deally or not, he was definitely He was one
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: of the only two Americans to land during the Bay
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: of Pigs with.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Uh Grace the Lynch, I believe the other almost And.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: There were a lot of Cubans in Dallas that day.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: It was almost the biggest king in the city.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: Well, I don't want to I don't want to speak
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: for rob but but we believe A vital Santiago was
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: the dark complexed man next to the umbrella man.
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I came wrong, So yeah,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: of course.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: Santiago, yes, So so I want to get your thoughts.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna throw a couple Cuban organizations out there, and
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: just give me your thoughts and and kind of what
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: your dad might have thought about them.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: The d r E big in the news these days.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Right, Nothing, I got nothing on d r E for
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you man, because he didn't talk about it.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: So CRC, what does that standard?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Revolutionary Revolutionary Congress Council council? Right, yeah, yeah, bunch of
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: those those people were just like propagandists, is what what
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: he said of those organizations. They weren't. They were propaganda.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: They weren't doers.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: They weren't doers. They were the doers don't show up
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: on street corners, Yeah, to be to be seen, you
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: know what I mean? No, Uh, nobody that'sn't walking and
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: out of those buildings to be photographed and seen like that.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, no, I agree.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: And we've been kind of talking about the different grifts
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: these certain uh Cubans had in their different organizations, how
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: they were uh, how they had differentiating levels of commitment
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: towards military action, towards marching in the street, taking money
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: or propaganda this or that. Was there one your dad
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: favored any more than the other.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: Or.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Like, I don't think my dad had a preference He
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: just didn't want the Cubans that were in Miami that
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: he didn't want them to do something stupid that would
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: end up blowing the thing out of proportion. That was
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: his whole mo for that, for dealing with the Cubans
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: in Miami. It was just keep them like. There's a
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: there's a time where Boss's organization, the Cuban Power Group,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: wants to sink a Polish freighter with a bazuka. So
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: my dad gets a practice round for the bazukah which
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: is blue, and he paints a green so it looks
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: like a Jenuine round and gives them that round. They go,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: they shoot the bazuka and hit the round hits the
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: side of the boat, but it doesn't explode, and they're like,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: what's going on. It's like it must have been a dud.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm getting it from this group. So
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: maybe this group is bad and they're feeding this bad stuff.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: And that's how he kept it rolling along. So he
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: said in his mind, he's like, I'm not gonna let
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: you think that Polish freighter with innocent people on board,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: just to start a war, you know, just to start problems.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: That's not how he figured it should be done. He
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: wanted it done a big American lead or you know,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Cubans going back and a big invasion. That's what he
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: That's what everybody thought eventually was gonna happen. And then
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: when it doesn't happen, that's when they all get mad.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: You don't want a bunch of crazy, mad Cubans coming
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: after you, man.
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: Right, I would not.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: I don't know, Robb, do you have Do you have
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: anything else?
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: So?
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: I think we pretty much cover everything. Is there anything
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: that you wanted to talk about, Rick that we didn't
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: get into?
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Did we miss I think we got into. I don't
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: know if you missed anything trying to think.
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: To be crammed into you know, such a short Oh
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: I know, yeah. I mean not only is it book worthy,
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: it's movie worthy, you know.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: Yeah. No, Yeah. I went on that pod on Rob
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Ryaners podcast as JFK one that he did, and I'm
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: on episode like eight or something of it, and I
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: was talking with Ryan or on like we are now.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: We were doing the interview, and halfway through the conversation,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: He's like, man, this is a movie, and I'm like,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: don't you make movies?
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Rob?
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: I mean, what are you telling me that it's a
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: movie for you know. So I'm hoping he reads it
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: and I get a callback from him.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: But there in.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Listen, There's one more thing I want to add because
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: a lot of people, this subject is very controversial to people.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: So I this story. I did not want to tell
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: his story. This story I held back from my own family.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: So when I leave Miami and leave the drug trade,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and I got married woman, and I had two kids,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: and I leave Miami because I don't want to raise
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: my children in Miami and I want to leave the
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: drug trade, and they did. I left it all. I
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: got a job and I've lived a good life ever since,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: and I've raised two beautiful children. I'm still married thirty
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: four years now. So I got out of it. But
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: I didn't tell them. They never knew anything about their
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: grandfather's life story. Wow, I did not want to talk
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: about this. Then one day on Twitter, Robin Farzad writes
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: a book called Hotel Scarface, which a lot of my
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: dad's life is in that book, and my kid sees
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: it on Twitter. He goes Grandpa's on Twitter and they're
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: going to write a book, And he said, a book,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: and you haven't told us anything, and I'm like, man
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: killed me, dude. And at that point, YEP, I had
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: to tell them everything. And then they're like, oh my god,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: freaking out, you know. And I'm like and then people
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: people start calling for interviews and podcasts because Robin did
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: a podcast that I went on here, so he asked
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: me to go, and I went on and told the story.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: And then I even withheld the JFK stuff because I
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: didn't want to talk about it because it only brings
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: out Hey, you know, it seems to only bring out
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: hate from other people. And I'll give you the perfect
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: example is the ass close Case Posner who thinks he
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: knows freaking everything right. So the other day the Daily
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Mail put out a story, my story about the book,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: and he comes out on Twitter, this has been debunked,
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah, And I'm like, who debunked it?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: You did, But i mean, how do you know where
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: do you know where Oswald was every day of his life? No,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: you weren't even there. You don't have a paper trail.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Just because you don't think it happened doesn't mean it's
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: case closed. I'm like, you're the biggest idiot out here
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: who refuses any new information. So I didn't even bring
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: up the JFK. I brought it up to a friend
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: of mine who works at MSNBC, and I said, if
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: the first Trump administration was supposed to release it, they
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: did it. I said, all right, I'm gonna hang on.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: I gave Biden a chance to release it. He didn't
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: release it. Then I went to my friend at NBC
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: and I went, all right, I can't take this anymore.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: I got to give you what I have so that
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: somebody will it'll shake something up, hopefully. And that's when
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I said the JFK part of the story, because I
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: was like, the story that my dad's life is already enough.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: I didn't need to add it, and it was only
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: going to bring me, you know, garbage and return. Twitter
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: people are just you're this, You're that, You're that, You're
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: a fucking liar this, And I'm sitting there going grow,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: don't read the comments and get out the nets. But
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: the only reason I did it was because they weren't
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: releasing the files. And then finally now the files start
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: coming out, but you're not going to find those papers
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: have been sanitized over sixty years. If you think you
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: know there's there's kernels here and there that are coming
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: out there show deception, show you know, cover up of this,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: not admitting to this. So, but I don't think we'll
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: ever get the what we need. They're all dead, how
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: long they've waited on purpose. So I just wanted that
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: to be to be understood. The story. I didn't even
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: want to tell my dad's story. I was hiding from that.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: It's not something that I thought was a great story
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: to raise your children on, you know what I mean.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: So I wanted to raise my children without them knowing
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: that my son, damn you dad, you mean my dad
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: is a spy scarface, And I can't tell my high
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: school buddies. I would have been the coolest kid in school,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: you know. I'm like, that's why I didn't tell you.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: That's why I didn't tell you, man, because it's not wasn't.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: So I head for forty years from that story till
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: it was forced upon me, and then I did the
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: book for my kids as their legacy left to them
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: by their grandfather. I'm sixty two years old. I'm not
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: doing anything. I'm retired. I'm sitting in my recliner and
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: I'm just going just to make taking care of my family.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: So the book is my legacy, my dad's legacy for
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: his grandchildren, and that's the way I look at it.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: So that's the story of why Monkey Morales was written
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: and how it all came about.
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: That's awesome. Well, Rick, like I said, it's a fascinating book. Joe,
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: hold it up one more time. Yeah, it's Monkey Morales.

- 1:24:14Speaker 1: because he's Jayway, he's jaywad Way, so.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: That would definitely be interesting.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: And I do thank you for finally coming out to
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: tell your story.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: I know, even though I might have messaged you by.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Mistake, under false pretenses. I'm glad I did because I
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: learned a lot about your father and uh and and
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: the book is fantastic from what I've read. And I
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: really appreciate your time.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: We I know, our our thanks, our audience definitely appreciates it.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: And thank you again.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Not a problem, had a great time, guys.
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: We'll see you all right, man, take care, I'll send
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: you out.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: But there he folks. Mccardo Morales Junior. The book is
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: Monkey Morales And I can't remember the subtitle, Joe, you
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: got it in front of you.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: It's alone the true story of a mythic Cuban exile assassin,
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: CIA operative, FBI informants, smuggler and dad, which he was
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: all of those things. Fascinating dude, and.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: You know, not a not someone that I was extremely
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: familiar with, like a couple of years ago.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know if he was involved in
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: the assassination. I don't, you know. I'm not a big
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: subscriber to like the backup team type of thing, but
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: I mean it's hard to discount based on his uh.
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: Dallas to sit in a hotel room and not clean
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: up anything.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: Right right, Yeah, yeah, well, well they definitely made up
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: for it in the congo. I think he said he
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: had hundreds of kills and gave him pt SD his
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: father until until he died.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: So yeah, that's a bad place to be in the
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: middle of.
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: After Yeah, and at that time, it's it's crazy with
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: that photo too, almost a year to the day or
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: two after the assassination with the umbrella mocking the umbrella
- 1:26:22Speaker 7: coverage of the bay of pigs, which I think was
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: the goal of that picture.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Crazy stuff, man, I enjoyed it.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: So yep, that's gonna be us for this night. Stay
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: tuned in the near future. We have a book review

- 1:27:11Speaker 4: but hype the shit out of it.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: They masked me out, bro, they said, you can hype anymore.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: Yeah, we can't hype our own hypeness through Joe's Berner account.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: I vote both of them said, you can't hype anymore,
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: You've hiped too much.

- 1:27:57Speaker 4: is great, Joe's got it, and who knows when might
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: do a book review on it here soon. You never know,
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: you never know, you never know.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: But I think his dad represents a lot of what
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: the Cuban exiles we study ended up doing and and
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: their lives. There's a lot of similarities.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: So yep, all right, Joe, grab the damn dog. Let
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: me call Dino over here, Dino one of yours in here, sir,
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: bring your people, it's me all damn.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: She's not coming. She's smart.
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: All right, we'll just answer without it. The greatest lies
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: are told in the name of truth, the greatest crimes
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: are committed in the name of justice.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: The quotation is Jim Garrison's.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: If we love you folks, I see you soon on
