- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: Yes. We have been learning so many action verbs lately. Luna: We danced. We hugged. We cleaned up our rooms. Lucas: Exactly. And last time we looked at seeing and hearing. Luna: Right. So what do we do next? More actions? Lucas: Today we look at two very useful verbs. One is about changing or staying. Luna: Oh. Like getting older? Or staying in a place? Lucas: Both. The verb is å bli. Let me say it slowly. Å bli. Luna: Å bli. Okay. That sounds short and simple. Lucas: It is. Now let me say it normally. Å bli. Luna: Å bli. Got it. Lucas: Now we need the first person singular form. I become. Luna: I become? Is that jeg blir? Lucas: Yes. Jeg blir. Let's try it. Jeg blir. Luna: Jeg blir. Hmm. The 'r' at the end feels soft. Lucas: Very soft. Just like a whisper. Try again. Jeg blir. Luna: Jeg blir. There. That felt better. Lucas: Perfect. You can use this for changes. Jeg blir trøtt. I get tired. Luna: Oh. So if I am cold, I can say jeg blir kald? Lucas: Exactly. Or even positive things. Jeg blir glad. I become happy. Luna: That is so flexible. I love that. But does it mean stay too? Lucas: Yes. If you are already somewhere, you stay there. You remain. Luna: So if I am at a party, and I want to stay longer? Lucas: You say jeg blir. Or often, bli med. To come along. Luna: Bli med. Come along. Like join me? Lucas: Yes. Bli med oss. Come with us. Very common phrase. Luna: Okay. Let me try. Bli med. Bli med oss. Lucas: Good. Now for the second verb. This one is about looking for something. Luna: Like searching? Finding? Lucas: Finding. The verb is å finne. Listen closely. Å finne. Luna: Å finne. Oh. That vowel sound is open. Lucas: Yes. Open mouth. Å finne. Say it with me. Luna: Å finne. Okay. I think I got it. Lucas: Now the first person. I find. Jeg finner. Luna: Jeg finner. With an extra 'n' in the middle? Lucas: Yes. Å finne becomes jeg finner. Double n. Jagfinner. Luna: Jeg finner. Okay. That makes sense. I find. Lucas: Let's put them together. Can you find me my keys? Luna: Kan du finne nøklene mine? Yes. I can ask that. Lucas: And if I lose my phone, I might say jeg har mistet telefonen. Luna: Oh no. But then I hope jeg finner den. I find it. Lucas: Exactly. Hope and pray. Let's practice the pair now. Luna: Ready. What do we do? Lucas: I will say a situation. You tell me which verb to use. Luna: Sounds fun. Go ahead. Lucas: You are at home. It starts to rain. You want to stay inside. Luna: Ah. Then I use bli. Jeg blir hjemme. I stay home. Lucas: Correct. Next. You lost your glasses. You want to see them. Luna: Then I use finne. Jeg må finne briller. I must find glasses. Lucas: Very good. Almost there. Last one. A friend asks if you want to go. Luna: Bli med. I want to come along. Bli med meg. Lucas: Actually, it is bli med oss. But you got the idea perfectly. Luna: Oh right. Us. Not me. Thanks for the correction. Lucas: No problem. These verbs change how we describe our day. Luna: They really do. I feel like I can explain more now. Lucas: That is the goal. Before we finish, I have a small request. Luna: Oh? What is it? Lucas: If these lessons help you feel confident speaking Norwegian... Luna: Yeah. It really does make a difference. Lucas: Then consider supporting the show. It keeps us ad-free. Lucas: Back to our verbs. Let's review quickly. Luna: Okay. First verb. To become or to stay. Lucas: Å bli. And the conjugation. Jeg blir. Luna: And the phrase. Bli med. To come with. Lucas: Second verb. To find. Å finne. Luna: And the conjugation. Jeg finner. With double n. Lucas: Spot on. Let's try one full sentence together. Luna: I will stay and find my keys. Jeg blir og finner nøklene. Lucas: Excellent. That is natural and correct. Luna: I am getting better at switching between them. Lucas: You are. Practice makes the switch automatic. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. I feel ready for today. Lucas: Great work, Luna. See you next time.
