Latest / The Epstein Chronicles / No End In Sight For Congress’ Epstein Probe
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. About a year ago, Congress set up a
- 0:07Speaker 1: committee that was tasked with overseeing the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell, and their crimes. However, after a year, we
- 0:18Speaker 1: still don't have much to go on. Nobody has been
- 0:22Speaker 1: held accountable. Nobody is under investigation that we know about.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And shockingly, the only two people that we know have
- 0:30Speaker 1: been referred are two people that were accused by Sarah
- 0:35Speaker 1: Kellen Vickers. Do you mean to tell me that all
- 0:38Speaker 1: the other accusations that have been made are not up
- 0:42Speaker 1: to snuff? That they don't have enough behind them for
- 0:46Speaker 1: them to be pursued? Because if you're trying to tell
- 0:49Speaker 1: me that, I'm going to tell you it's a bunch
- 0:51Speaker 1: of BS. Because there's plenty of information about plenty of
- 0:55Speaker 1: people who should be referred to for criminal indictment to
- 0:59Speaker 1: the Justice Department. But we haven't seen much of that,
- 1:02Speaker 1: have we? And unfortunately, I'm not confident that we will.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And again, it's all by design in my opinion. I
- 1:10Speaker 1: don't think this committee was ever enacted to get anything done.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And if it wasn't for the discharge petition, forget it.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So today, we have an article from Politico, and here's
- 1:22Speaker 1: the headline. This is just the beginning. One year in,
- 1:26Speaker 1: there's no end in sight. for Congress's Epstein probe. This
- 1:30Speaker 1: article was authored by Haley Fuchs. The House Oversight Committee's
- 1:35Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein investigation will hit the one-year mark later this month,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and the saga isn't ending anytime soon. Well, it's certainly
- 1:43Speaker 1: not ending around these parts anytime soon. Now, we're definitely
- 1:47Speaker 1: going to be talking about other things, and over the
- 1:49Speaker 1: past few weeks, we've already started talking a little bit
- 1:52Speaker 1: more about Alec Murdoch. Well, we're going to start talking
- 1:56Speaker 1: about about the Tyler Robinson trial as well. Because there's
- 2:00Speaker 1: been a lot of BS talked about Charlie Kirk's murder.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And now that we're getting to a point where we're
- 2:06Speaker 1: getting some actual evidence, I think it's time to have
- 2:10Speaker 1: the conversation, right? Follow along with the trial. Look at
- 2:13Speaker 1: the evidence. See what's what. And I'm coming into that
- 2:17Speaker 1: with a very sober eye. I have no preconceived notions
- 2:22Speaker 1: about anything. and we're just going to follow the evidence
- 2:25Speaker 1: wherever it takes us. But one thing I was always
- 2:29Speaker 1: skeptical of was Candace Owens and her bullshit. She tried
- 2:34Speaker 1: the same thing with Brian Koberger. She tried to insert
- 2:38Speaker 1: herself into that case and tried to turn it into
- 2:41Speaker 1: this gigantic conspiracy. And thankfully, her bullshit didn't take. But
- 2:47Speaker 1: here in the Charlie Kirk case, when you have something
- 2:49Speaker 1: that explosive, something that politically sensitive, you're going to find
- 2:53Speaker 1: an audience... For you're crazy. And Candace Owens has certainly
- 2:58Speaker 1: capitalized on that. And when she tried it with Brian Koberger,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I knew she was talking out of the side of
- 3:04Speaker 1: her neck. And my guess has always been that's the
- 3:06Speaker 1: same story when it comes to Charlie Kirk. So we're
- 3:10Speaker 1: diving into that for ourselves. And now that the preliminary
- 3:14Speaker 1: hearing started this week, I've been able to get more
- 3:16Speaker 1: of a handle on what the prosecution actually has. Because remember,
- 3:21Speaker 1: that's what matters. What's the evidence? Because for me, that's
- 3:25Speaker 1: all that really matters. Not my opinion, not what I think,
- 3:29Speaker 1: not what my bias tells me, but where does the
- 3:32Speaker 1: evidence take us? So that's what we're going to be
- 3:35Speaker 1: doing when we're covering the Tyler Robinson trial. And the
- 3:40Speaker 1: first series that I have planned is just diving into
- 3:43Speaker 1: the official narrative and what the official story is and
- 3:47Speaker 1: what evidence the government says it has. And look, as
- 3:52Speaker 1: you all know, I'm not exactly somebody who trusts the government,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but that doesn't mean that every case is a gigantic conspiracy.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So we're going to get to that in a little bit.
- 4:01Speaker 1: But first, let's finish this article. No matter which party
- 4:05Speaker 1: ends up in control in the next Congress, the oversight
- 4:08Speaker 1: panel will remain under pressure to continue to investigate the
- 4:12Speaker 1: late convicted sex offender and the web of power players
- 4:15Speaker 1: who may have been complicit in his crimes. May have
- 4:18Speaker 1: been complicit. May have been complicit. All these fools were complicit,
- 4:24Speaker 1: one way or the other. Doesn't mean everybody was diddling,
- 4:27Speaker 1: but everybody was around. Everybody knew. And anybody who says
- 4:32Speaker 1: any different, they're bullshitting you. Democrats are making clear that
- 4:36Speaker 1: they view the committee's work under Republican leadership as incomplete,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and that the Epstein case will be central to their
- 4:42Speaker 1: oversight of President Donald Trump's administration if they win the
- 4:46Speaker 1: majority in the midterms. And I think that's a likely possibility, right?
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean, the midterms historically fade to the side that's
- 4:57Speaker 1: not in power. So I would think that the Democrats,
- 5:01Speaker 1: with everything that's going on, are going to make some
- 5:04Speaker 1: inroads and at least take the House. Is that going
- 5:07Speaker 1: to be enough? I don't know. And to tell you
- 5:10Speaker 1: the truth, I'm not exactly confident in the Democrats' leadership either.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Just take a look at how they dealt with Graham Plattner.
- 5:21Speaker 1: This is just the beginning, Representative Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico,
- 5:25Speaker 1: an oversight Democrat, said in an interview. I believe this
- 5:29Speaker 1: is the administration's watergate. I think that it's clear that
- 5:32Speaker 1: they're complicit in covering crimes and shielding the president from
- 5:36Speaker 1: accountability and evading the law. And so I'd like to
- 5:39Speaker 1: see all of them in front of the committee under oath. Well,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'd like to see that too. And there's certainly a cover-up,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and I think it would be good if we focused
- 5:49Speaker 1: more on that cover-up. But people like Melanie Stansberry, they're
- 5:55Speaker 1: only interested in salacious nonsense. She hasn't hammered down on
- 6:01Speaker 1: the real facts of the case. Every single one of
- 6:03Speaker 1: these Congress people that get up there, the first question is,
- 6:06Speaker 1: Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Donald Trump. And that's not how
- 6:09Speaker 1: we're going to get to the victory line. I keep
- 6:12Speaker 1: telling you guys that. And if that makes people mad,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I don't care. I don't know how many times I
- 6:18Speaker 1: have to say it. I'm not in this for the clicks.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I don't even do any marketing for my podcast. If
- 6:23Speaker 1: you found my podcast, either somebody told you about it
- 6:26Speaker 1: or you stumbled upon it. So if you think I
- 6:29Speaker 1: care about winning any popularity contests or doing what the
- 6:34Speaker 1: masses want me to do, you've come to the wrong place.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I really just don't care. I don't have any kind
- 6:40Speaker 1: of social media profile to worry about. I don't have sponsors.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I don't have crowdfunding. None of it. So I'm able
- 6:48Speaker 1: to say whatever I want whenever I want to say it.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And at times it costs me listeners. And hey, that's cool.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I get it. But I'm not going to change who
- 6:58Speaker 1: I am. And I'm certainly not going to play any
- 7:00Speaker 1: games to try and, you know, get people to listen
- 7:03Speaker 1: to my podcast. What I'm saying to you is the
- 7:07Speaker 1: same shit I'd be saying in the backyard to the homies.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And if you don't believe me, you can ask them.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Do you know how many times these people, my friends,
- 7:18Speaker 1: have told me to shut my app? They didn't care.
- 7:21Speaker 1: They don't want to hear it for five more seconds. Eh,
- 7:24Speaker 1: just about every barbecue. Finally, one of them said to me,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Hey Bobby, why don't you just start a podcast? And
- 7:31Speaker 1: then you can run your yap all day, and you
- 7:33Speaker 1: can say what you want to say, and we won't
- 7:35Speaker 1: have to listen to your nonsense anymore. It works out
- 7:38Speaker 1: great for everybody. So my point is, even if nobody
- 7:41Speaker 1: was listening, I'd still be saying the same stuff. And
- 7:44Speaker 1: you know why? Because this is what I believe. This
- 7:47Speaker 1: isn't some LARP. This isn't some GAG. This isn't me
- 7:52Speaker 1: just making pretend. The shit I tell you on this podcast,
- 7:57Speaker 1: that's what I believe. Republicans, meanwhile, say the public's appetite
- 8:02Speaker 1: for answers in the Epstein case won't be satiated no
- 8:05Speaker 1: matter what new details the panel unearths. Oh, give me
- 8:09Speaker 1: a break. Before it was the Republicans crying and crying
- 8:12Speaker 1: and crying nonstop about the Epstein issue. But now all
- 8:16Speaker 1: of a sudden, oh, there's never going to be enough. Well,
- 8:19Speaker 1: how about you give us something worthwhile? How about we
- 8:22Speaker 1: start there? People are never going to be satisfied with
- 8:28Speaker 1: a congressional investigation throughout history, said Oversight Chair James Comer
- 8:32Speaker 1: of Kentucky, who, due to GOP term limits, will no
- 8:35Speaker 1: longer be the panel's top Republican in the next Congress. Well,
- 8:39Speaker 1: thank God, because James Comer is an absolute tool. An
- 8:44Speaker 1: absolute buffoon. Him and his robber barons have caused A
- 8:49Speaker 1: lot of damage here. And they have destroyed a lot
- 8:52Speaker 1: of credibility. While he had hoped to wrap up the
- 8:55Speaker 1: interviews by the August recess, Comer added, it's probably going
- 8:58Speaker 1: to be hard because it seems like after every deposition,
- 9:02Speaker 1: we get another name or two that we need to
- 9:04Speaker 1: talk to. Imagine if they would have just done their
- 9:06Speaker 1: jobs from the very beginning. I know, novel idea. That
- 9:12Speaker 1: means the congressional Epstein probe could continue for the foreseeable
- 9:16Speaker 1: future not only out of hope of finding a smoking gun,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but also because of the political incentives to keep investigating.
- 9:23Speaker 1: For Democrats, as well as Republicans, are impossible to resist.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And I have to tell you, the way that this
- 9:30Speaker 1: topic has been politicized recently is a big-time turnoff. That's
- 9:35Speaker 1: never what this was supposed to be. I can't tell
- 9:38Speaker 1: you how many people back in 2019 I worked with
- 9:42Speaker 1: to try and get justice here That I didn't agree
- 9:45Speaker 1: with politically. But I was able to shelve my personal
- 9:48Speaker 1: bias for the greater good. And the greater good was
- 9:52Speaker 1: getting rid of these scumbags. But unfortunately that didn't work.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And it's becoming more and more clear to me that
- 10:01Speaker 1: there's never going to be unity on any topic. If
- 10:04Speaker 1: we can't come to the center here and come to
- 10:08Speaker 1: some kind of truce while we get rid of these people,
- 10:12Speaker 1: forget it. It's over. America is effectively broken into different
- 10:16Speaker 1: groups now. There's no single America There's no heartbeat of America.
- 10:23Speaker 1: There's only what's good politically, and I find it disgusting.
- 10:27Speaker 1: These are real people. People whose lives were fucking ruined.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And the same people that ignored them the first time around. Well,
- 10:36Speaker 1: now they're just politicizing everything and not making any ground
- 10:40Speaker 1: and not bringing anyone to justice. I mean, they won't
- 10:43Speaker 1: even go after the banking records. What does that tell you?
- 10:47Speaker 1: You don't want to follow the money? Of one of
- 10:49Speaker 1: the biggest launderers in the history of America? Okay, cool.
- 10:54Speaker 1: So you're just not serious about what's going on? The
- 11:00Speaker 1: panel interviewed more than a dozen people and none so
- 11:02Speaker 1: far have shared any new information culminating in criminal charges.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But the panel has made history by making a host
- 11:09Speaker 1: of powerful people answer for their willful association with a
- 11:14Speaker 1: convicted sex offender. Among them, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick the
- 11:19Speaker 1: billionaire investor Leon Black, and tech mogul and philanthropist Bill Gates.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Black and Gates both admitted to knowing about Epstein's criminal history,
- 11:28Speaker 1: at least in part, while continuing to associate with him. Oh,
- 11:32Speaker 1: they knew they didn't care. Like I told you. Unlike
- 11:37Speaker 1: the rest of these people, I don't hide from what
- 11:39Speaker 1: I've said in the past. All those reposted episodes, they're
- 11:44Speaker 1: from 2021, 2019, all the way back. And as you
- 11:49Speaker 1: can see, the record has been consistent, at least around
- 11:53Speaker 1: these parts. There have been some other revelations too. Sarah Kellen,
- 11:57Speaker 1: a former assistant, gave lawmakers the names of two men
- 12:00Speaker 1: potentially implicated in Epstein's misdeeds. Hairstylist Frederick Fakai and former
- 12:06Speaker 1: Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, who both have denied wrongdoing. Well,
- 12:12Speaker 1: Frederick Fakai is not a new name to us. We've
- 12:14Speaker 1: been talking about him for a while. But I will say,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I never heard anything about Mr. Levine. Mr. Levine, whatever
- 12:21Speaker 1: you want to call him. Up until Sarah Kellan told
- 12:24Speaker 1: us what she told us. So, that is a new name.
- 12:28Speaker 1: One thing I'll give the committee is that is a
- 12:29Speaker 1: new name. Black, in the middle of his transcribed interview,
- 12:33Speaker 1: was slapped with subpoenas that'll force him to reappear and
- 12:37Speaker 1: hand over nondisclosure agreements that could be tied to Epstein.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And ousted former Attorney General Pam Bondi underscored the extent
- 12:46Speaker 1: to which her then-deputy, Todd Blanche, led the Justice Department's
- 12:50Speaker 1: haphazard release of the Epstein files after Congress forced the
- 12:54Speaker 1: department's hand last fall. Blanche, now the acting Attorney General
- 12:59Speaker 1: vying to lead the DOJ permanently, is expected to be
- 13:02Speaker 1: heavily questioned about the matter at his Senate confirmation hearing
- 13:06Speaker 1: next week, and House Oversight could separately call him to
- 13:10Speaker 1: speak with the panel in the coming weeks. Look, if
- 13:14Speaker 1: Todd Blanche... actually gets confirmed, that's going to tell us
- 13:18Speaker 1: everything we need to know. Because if they confirm him,
- 13:23Speaker 1: that means they're all in on it. A yes vote
- 13:27Speaker 1: is a vote for Jeffrey Epstein's bullshit. And that's just
- 13:31Speaker 1: the way it is. Representative Robert Garcia of California, who
- 13:37Speaker 1: is poised to become oversight chair next year if Democrats
- 13:40Speaker 1: sweep the fall elections, noted that the ongoing investigation has
- 13:44Speaker 1: also set a new precedent The panel's decision earlier this
- 13:47Speaker 1: year to compel the sworn testimony of former President Bill Clinton,
- 13:51Speaker 1: he said, could pave the way for other former presidents
- 13:56Speaker 1: to be hit with subpoenas. And that includes Trump, who
- 13:59Speaker 1: has drawn scrutiny from his own relationship with Epstein. And
- 14:03Speaker 1: it was very transparent at the time what the Democrats
- 14:05Speaker 1: were trying to do. The whole entire goal with getting
- 14:09Speaker 1: Bill Clinton up there and the Democrats going along with
- 14:12Speaker 1: it was to eventually get Trump in the crosshairs. That's
- 14:15Speaker 1: what they were trying to do. They want Trump up
- 14:18Speaker 1: there to give a deposition, and now that Bill Clinton
- 14:20Speaker 1: did it, well, how can Trump deny them? He'll try,
- 14:25Speaker 1: but it gives them political ammunition. And at the end
- 14:28Speaker 1: of the day, that's what Robert Garcia is looking for.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I have a lot of doubts about Robert Garcia and
- 14:35Speaker 1: his real motivations. Sorry, but I do. That includes Trump,
- 14:40Speaker 1: who has drawn scrutiny for his own relationship with Epstein.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Democrats have argued the administration has concealed the extent of
- 14:47Speaker 1: that relationship. But Trump has maintained that he and Epstein
- 14:51Speaker 1: had a falling out long before Epstein's death by suicide, allegedly,
- 14:55Speaker 1: behind bars in 2019. The president has not been charged
- 15:00Speaker 1: with wrongdoing. There are, however, limits to what Congress can
- 15:04Speaker 1: do to bring people to account. Already, committee Republicans have
- 15:08Speaker 1: recommended that the Justice Department investigate allegations against Frederick Fokai
- 15:13Speaker 1: and Levine. In a statement, a DOJ official confirmed the
- 15:16Speaker 1: department had received the recommendation from the committee and the
- 15:20Speaker 1: FBI was looking into it. Oh, I'm sure they are.
- 15:27Speaker 1: The allegations Kellen made in her interview to Oversight included
- 15:30Speaker 1: names of reported perpetrators that she apparently did not raise
- 15:34Speaker 1: in her FBI interviews during the course of the investigation
- 15:37Speaker 1: into Epstein and Maxwell. The official said, The FBI is
- 15:41Speaker 1: in the process of confirming that. If during the course
- 15:44Speaker 1: of their review, FBI encounters of evidence of a federal crime,
- 15:48Speaker 1: they will investigate the matter. Wow, well, we can all
- 15:51Speaker 1: rest easy. The FBI is on the job, folks. Comer
- 15:56Speaker 1: hinted that the House Oversight Committee would pursue criminal referrals
- 15:59Speaker 1: to the DOJ, too. We believe there are people that
- 16:02Speaker 1: deserve to be prosecuted, and we're going to do everything
- 16:05Speaker 1: in our ability to see that happen. I promise the
- 16:08Speaker 1: survivors that. Yeah, well, pretty words. Let's see some action.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Garcia said some witnesses who came to testify voluntarily and
- 16:18Speaker 1: were not sworn in under oath would, in a Democratic majority,
- 16:21Speaker 1: be called back again to give formal depositions, such as Bondi. Well,
- 16:26Speaker 1: that's good. They should all be formal. Voluntarily. Committee Democrats
- 16:31Speaker 1: have also expressed an interest in getting testimony via subpoena
- 16:36Speaker 1: from FBI Director Kash Patel as they explore not just
- 16:40Speaker 1: Epstein's network of associates, but the federal government's uneven handling
- 16:44Speaker 1: of the matter. That's what we have to focus on.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I know people don't want to hear it. Everybody wants
- 16:51Speaker 1: the salacious, big-time caller. And I'm here to tell you,
- 16:54Speaker 1: that's not going to happen. That ship is sailed. If
- 16:58Speaker 1: you want justice here, focus on the cover-up. If you
- 17:02Speaker 1: want to fuck around and cause distractions and whatever, cool,
- 17:05Speaker 1: talk about the other shit. But if you're looking for justice,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and you're looking to hold people accountable... One way to
- 17:12Speaker 1: do it, folks. The Epstein probe will not be over,
- 17:17Speaker 1: Garcia pledged, until they release all the files and until
- 17:21Speaker 1: ideally criminal convictions out of the DOJ. But any referral
- 17:26Speaker 1: would be merely advisory. Only the Trump administration can decide
- 17:29Speaker 1: who to target with federal charges. It's also highly unlikely
- 17:33Speaker 1: that a sitting president could be compelled to participate in
- 17:36Speaker 1: the committee's Epstein probe through a subpoena. That wasn't the point.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It's for when he's out of office. They're going to
- 17:43Speaker 1: try and hit him with that subpoena when he's out
- 17:45Speaker 1: of office to get him to testify. That was the goal.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Representative Thomas Massey suggested that the House effort was only
- 17:53Speaker 1: serving to provide cover for the Justice Department to avoid accountability. Frankly,
- 17:58Speaker 1: bringing all these people in is still part of the
- 18:01Speaker 1: charade and the diversion from what should happen, which is
- 18:05Speaker 1: that the DOJ should bring charges against people for whom
- 18:09Speaker 1: there's credible evidence. Massey, who lost his re-election primary to
- 18:13Speaker 1: a Trump-backed challenger, said in an interview, Everything that happens
- 18:17Speaker 1: in oversight is just part of trying to shellack over
- 18:20Speaker 1: the whole thing. Bingo. That's all it is. That's all
- 18:24Speaker 1: it ever will be. Massey teamed up last year with
- 18:29Speaker 1: Representative Ro Khanna to force a vote on legislation requiring
- 18:33Speaker 1: the Justice Department to make public all the Epstein material
- 18:36Speaker 1: in its possession. The Trump White House sought to block
- 18:40Speaker 1: the measure and with Republicans not wanting to disobey their
- 18:43Speaker 1: president or alienate their base, clamoring for transparency, Speaker Mike
- 18:48Speaker 1: Johnson sent the House home rather than keep the members
- 18:52Speaker 1: in town to writhe amid the uproar. But before lawmakers departed,
- 18:57Speaker 1: Democrats forced a surprise bipartisan vote during an oversight subcommittee hearing,
- 19:02Speaker 1: compelling the Justice Department to turn over the Epstein files
- 19:05Speaker 1: to Congress. That vote launched the Epstein probe at a
- 19:08Speaker 1: time when the DOJ, was still refusing to cooperate fully
- 19:12Speaker 1: on its own. A shift that took place in November
- 19:16Speaker 1: when Trump finally relented and allowed Congress to pass Massey
- 19:19Speaker 1: and Connors Epstein File Transparency Act with near unanimous support.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And remember, he couldn't veto it. So that's the only
- 19:28Speaker 1: reason he got behind it. Since that time, the rollout
- 19:32Speaker 1: of the files has been full of mistakes, including botched
- 19:35Speaker 1: disclosures of victim information and excessive redactions. Lawmakers of both
- 19:40Speaker 1: parties argue the DOJ has not fully complied with the law. Well,
- 19:45Speaker 1: that's because they haven't. Is there any real argument against
- 19:49Speaker 1: that statement? Representative Tim Burchett, another oversight committee member, said
- 19:55Speaker 1: he didn't know how the Epstein investigation would end, but
- 19:59Speaker 1: wasn't optimistic that there would be a satisfying conclusion. This
- 20:03Speaker 1: town moves. I mean, glaciers run past us, Burchett said.
- 20:08Speaker 1: We've been studying the Kennedy assassination and we're still getting
- 20:11Speaker 1: information on it. I don't have a lot of faith
- 20:13Speaker 1: in the system. I don't care who's in charge. I
- 20:16Speaker 1: think that the sewer is too deep. What are you
