Deputy Killed While Directing Traffic | San Antonio News
A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded on Interstate 45 near Houston when 24-year-old Deputy Erika Serrato was fatally struck by a commercial truck while directing traffic after responding to a suspected DWI crash. The truck also hit two other patrol vehicles. Serrato, a six-year veteran with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, died instantly. Another deputy suffered minor injuries. The driver of the initial crash faces DWI charges, while the truck driver is hospitalized. Authorities are investigating.
