- 0:07Speaker 1: All right, ho ho ho, and yeah, who are Well?
- 0:10Speaker 1: That's the three of us, isn't it? Welcome to No Dribble,
- 0:14Speaker 1: the podcast where we insult each other and talk about
- 0:17Speaker 1: net forward, talk about so much more. It's our last
- 0:20Speaker 1: episode that we're recording together here before Christmas, so we've
- 0:26Speaker 1: gone nuts with the festive decorations here irang Liz said
- 0:30Speaker 1: do you have a hat? And said nut? So resting
- 0:36Speaker 1: grinch face is joining us today. I'm cath Cox, I'm
- 0:41Speaker 1: lose Ellos, and you two look like like Santa's just.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Coming thrown up in your little vicinity. Like I can
- 0:47Speaker 2: see the elf on the shelf, hang it out there,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and I can see your decorations and Uterian ridiculous hats me.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I have a map of Australia and some you know,
- 0:56Speaker 2: Sundering awards behind me. But you know, I got your
- 0:59Speaker 2: message last night and I wasn't a bit of a
- 1:01Speaker 2: bad mood, Carolyn. I was tired, I was cranky, and
- 1:03Speaker 2: you were like, do you have a Christmas hat to
- 1:05Speaker 2: wear tomorrow? And my answer was no, should I? And
- 1:08Speaker 2: then Catherine jumped on with all the Christmas jokes and
- 1:11Speaker 2: you went, oh no, this is obviously the ship mood.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I was just back away from that, which was very
- 1:16Speaker 2: kind of you, so thank you. So I want you
- 1:18Speaker 2: to now to close your eyes because I've actually been
- 1:20Speaker 2: doing a bit of work. Closure eyes, and I'll show
- 1:23Speaker 2: you my Christmas hack crasiyr eyes. I want it to
- 1:24Speaker 2: pay the haad or something. I want you to to
- 1:27Speaker 2: acknowledge that you have lost the Christmas hat competition. Oh no,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and I'm sitting here in the dark for a reason. Okay,
- 1:36Speaker 2: you can look now.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh that's great. So you've got all your dildos and
- 1:43Speaker 1: stashed them onto a hat? Have you stitched them on?
- 1:46Speaker 3: That's happening?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Is that the kubra with canes?
- 1:51Speaker 2: This was my jungle of Kubra from celebrity and I
- 1:54Speaker 2: just went and found some Christmas lights because we have love,
- 1:57Speaker 2: thank you, And I thought it was it's a very
- 2:00Speaker 2: Australian Christmas hack because it looks like it it's like
- 2:03Speaker 2: a take of the core cap.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Very good. Are you going to wear that for the
- 2:07Speaker 1: whole app because it's already blinding you.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I imagine it's for a bit annoying. But given that
- 2:11Speaker 2: you think that the candy canes look like dildo's, I
- 2:14Speaker 2: do wonder what sort of penis that's happening in your world?
- 2:16Speaker 2: But anyways, that's a good stuff.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Okay, well hands down, she wins.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I see her face because light, No, I can't.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It's exactly right, that's perfect. That's the best way to
- 2:28Speaker 3: look at me, Hiver, and I do. I do appreciate it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I retract the rest in grinch face comment, and I
- 2:36Speaker 1: offer a full apology. I will do better next time, Elizabeth,
- 2:40Speaker 1: thank you. I just quickly snap into foolish words though
- 2:44Speaker 1: I've been looking for festive ones, and this one's from
- 2:46Speaker 1: Andy Borrowitz. It's not foolish words. I just think this
- 2:48Speaker 1: is funny words. So he's the comedian. He was the
- 2:51Speaker 1: creative fresh Prince of bell A, very important to our generation. Obviously,
- 2:54Speaker 1: he said Christmas is a baby shower that went totally overboard.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I agree, classic.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Well, if you want to be in witness protection, this
- 3:05Speaker 3: is also working for you because we cannot see your face.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Actually, I've turned all the lights off in here because
- 3:11Speaker 2: one of the lights to sparkles. I've got all the
- 3:13Speaker 2: blinds down. What I might do is take this off
- 3:18Speaker 2: and turn the lights on so that you can see me.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So just talk makes yourselves for a second, because.
- 3:22Speaker 1: You do look very pretty, and I want to talk
- 3:24Speaker 1: about why you're all gussied up too.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Oh look, i'll tell you just the moment. Hang on,
- 3:28Speaker 2: hang on, hang on.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Let me just get the lights happening in here. Here
- 3:33Speaker 3: we are, lights on.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's compelling podcast, This isn't it. Let me put the
- 3:38Speaker 1: lights on. We've got some extra technology, which is always
- 3:46Speaker 1: a dodgy move for us, but just here she Oh
- 3:50Speaker 1: my god, she's also got a Santa hat.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You two. I thought Cain might have this, that we
- 3:57Speaker 2: could be three hosts together.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But anyway, she's gone quite sparkly and glamorous. What a surprise.
- 4:03Speaker 3: The pink brazizzled version, Yeah, it's very nice.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Not a fan. I actually hate yeah, sequence that are
- 4:10Speaker 1: really uncomfortable. They're itchy.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I just hate them though they look very old lady
- 4:14Speaker 3: to me, So for them today.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I have a very fabulous pink sequined shirt that I
- 4:20Speaker 1: wore when I hosted the Netball New South Wales Awards
- 4:23Speaker 1: and I love it and it looks great, but it's
- 4:26Speaker 1: itchy and the next day I've always got some sort
- 4:29Speaker 1: of rash around there. So you know, beauty is pain
- 4:32Speaker 1: and suffering and but you know, well worth it because
- 4:35Speaker 1: I look great? What do you look so good? What's
- 4:37Speaker 1: where have you been this morning?
- 4:39Speaker 2: I have been to Austin's awards stay at school, and
- 4:42Speaker 2: I actually sold him short. I did say to someone
- 4:45Speaker 2: when I left the house that I was just going
- 4:47Speaker 2: to watch my son get a sports award. We don't
- 4:50Speaker 2: we don't have no truck with those academic awards. Anyway.
- 4:53Speaker 2: The first first award he got was a maths award,
- 4:55Speaker 2: so I had to take all that back, and then
- 4:57Speaker 2: I was worried that, oh my god, what if he
- 4:59Speaker 2: doesn't get the sports award. Oh yeah, he'll be devoted,
- 5:04Speaker 2: but that would mean that other kids in his school
- 5:07Speaker 2: had been better than him, and I'd had this conversation
- 5:09Speaker 2: with him. Anyway, he did get the sports award, so
- 5:11Speaker 2: that was exciting. So junior Boys' Sports award and a
- 5:14Speaker 2: little bit of maths thrown it on the side.
- 5:16Speaker 3: A little bit of mats. That's very impressive. Mats is
- 5:19Speaker 3: not the easiest thing. Did you know he was good
- 5:21Speaker 3: with numbers like that, because one of those things you
- 5:24Speaker 3: either get or you don't.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We had no idea because we had to talk about
- 5:27Speaker 2: sport in their house, so I had no idea what
- 5:28Speaker 2: he was doing with his other academic stuff.
- 5:31Speaker 3: It's probably because he's good at cricket, you know, adding
- 5:33Speaker 3: up the realms of the Africa, counting the fours and
- 5:36Speaker 3: the sixes and yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 2: He likes all sports, so he has to, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 2: add up the goals and the behinds in AFL and
- 5:42Speaker 2: then the tries and the goals in rugby league and
- 5:44Speaker 2: rugby union, and then all the goals in netball and yep,
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think you're right, Catherine. I think it's applied mathematics.
- 5:49Speaker 2: That is what sport teaches you.
- 5:51Speaker 3: There you go on top of everything else.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Well, that's fantastic morning.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, good body was nice. Ah, so very interesting. So
- 5:58Speaker 2: the little school that it goes to, they have four
- 6:02Speaker 2: school captains, and in the past it's always been two
- 6:04Speaker 2: girls two boys. Today they do it's next to your
- 6:06Speaker 2: school captains four girls. Oh wow, yep, yep, some of
- 6:11Speaker 2: whom are netballers. So I will absolutely take credit for that. Yes,
- 6:15Speaker 2: made into how do they work it out then?
- 6:17Speaker 3: So they don't just think it's fair to have two
- 6:19Speaker 3: boys two girls.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Clearly, how do they work it out.
- 6:22Speaker 1: As a vote or normal?
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think the school votes on it. Well, they all
- 6:25Speaker 2: they do. They do speeches and then they do votes.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So I think progressive that they can actually consider changing
- 6:31Speaker 1: a system based on you know what the cohort reflects
- 6:36Speaker 1: my daughter's yere. I reckon they should have had. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: there's ten prefects, five boys, five girls. I reckon it
- 6:42Speaker 1: should probably have been about seven girls and three boys.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And right, it's just the girls are superior in every
- 6:51Speaker 3: single way.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and look it's hard. It's developmentally they're they're they're
- 6:54Speaker 1: more advanced at that age. Right, But yeah, that's very interesting.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I wonder what they'll do next.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I don't know, but my son was not very pleased
- 7:02Speaker 2: because the two boys he voted fourteen and ins. I'm like, oh,
- 7:06Speaker 2: well that's just how it was. That's how democracy works, mate, exactly.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Very good. Have you finished school for the year?
- 7:14Speaker 3: No Friday, although she's having the day off on Thursday
- 7:17Speaker 3: to go and get the dog. Oh dog is making
- 7:21Speaker 3: its way into our life on Thursday.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Everybody, So will you be living in your apartment? Well?
- 7:26Speaker 3: I made it very clear at the start that this
- 7:29Speaker 3: is not my problem. This dog is not for me,
- 7:33Speaker 3: and just because it hers doesn't mean it's coming back
- 7:35Speaker 3: to our house, so I thought, I need to get
- 7:37Speaker 3: in front of that.
- 7:38Speaker 2: As soon as.
- 7:39Speaker 3: She's got it and she has to leave it, she's
- 7:41Speaker 3: going to be devastated and she's going to think I'm
- 7:43Speaker 3: the worst person in the world. And do you know
- 7:45Speaker 3: what that may change? Because you know me and you
- 7:47Speaker 3: know I'm a dog sucker. But at the moment, I'm
- 7:49Speaker 3: standing firm, no dog in the house.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Carolyn, would you like to place a bet on when
- 7:54Speaker 2: the dog might live at Catherines?
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's not sadly like, it's very long like I'm standing firm,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but already saying probably I will change on my standing
- 8:02Speaker 1: firm stack.
- 8:02Speaker 3: So I know I would one hundred percent change my
- 8:06Speaker 3: attitude if it was something oodle and wasn't going to molt.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But the fact that it's.
- 8:10Speaker 3: A molting dog, I'm standing firm. Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 2: What sort of dog is it? Again? It's a what
- 8:15Speaker 2: is that?
- 8:15Speaker 3: A Cocklear cocas manual, Cavalier cross, hairy malty?
- 8:20Speaker 2: Not good.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I found a great video yesterday I was going to
- 8:23Speaker 1: send you of people just being pulled into muddy puddles
- 8:25Speaker 1: and rivers and things by their dogs when they're at walking.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So it's funny So last night Carol and sat around
- 8:34Speaker 3: was a reel of the Gritch of the Greech scaring
- 8:37Speaker 3: the crap out of kids.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Terrible. That's so true. So for people who at home
- 8:44Speaker 1: and we've just had someone very special joining us.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, I just thought that as you were
- 8:48Speaker 3: talking about the Greach that scared the.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Crap unexpectedly come through the door. Let's park the Grinch
- 8:55Speaker 1: because I've got someone who is the opposite of Grinch
- 8:58Speaker 1: joining us today as a very special surprise. So I'm
- 9:02Speaker 1: not going to do any fascical games here. I've asked
- 9:05Speaker 1: Daryl Milton to join us for a bit on our
- 9:07Speaker 1: our last episode of the year today.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Hello Darryl, Hey, how are you going? Gus?
- 9:11Speaker 3: Well, we're expecting all the answers to all of the
- 9:14Speaker 3: stuff that we had you do this year.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Is that what you do?
- 9:19Speaker 3: It's a long list.
- 9:21Speaker 4: There is a long list.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yes, okay, Well how much of it have you got through?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Did you watch?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Was it Greace too? That was a low.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I don't want to jump the gun, but that was
- 9:32Speaker 4: Caroline suggested that maybe I did a naughty and nice
- 9:34Speaker 4: list and that was had to be on the naughty
- 9:36Speaker 4: list of things to make me do I have to
- 9:38Speaker 4: say so? Yeah? Watching it?
- 9:41Speaker 1: Then I did. I did ask Darryl to do a
- 9:43Speaker 1: Naudio nice list. I'm going to lead with a naughty
- 9:45Speaker 1: because I reckon you might have called me Caroline. Then
- 9:47Speaker 1: did you hear that I did?
- 9:49Speaker 4: I think I did. I did?
- 9:50Speaker 2: Sorry one, Daryl. Have you got Christmas twinkling lights behind you?
- 9:55Speaker 4: Yes? I do have Christmas twinkling lights.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I feel like I've got to now that Daryl's back
- 9:59Speaker 2: with his Christmas tweak, I feel like I have to
- 10:01Speaker 2: get my core cat battle.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yes, I've got a Christmas tree and put the furssive
- 10:05Speaker 3: dildos back on this.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, mix it deteriorated. Shut up, Daryl, get on here
- 10:12Speaker 2: to be funny. That's my job, right.
- 10:15Speaker 1: This is your first time listening to No Dribble. Obviously,
- 10:18Speaker 1: the three of us talk nonsense each week, and we
- 10:22Speaker 1: have met through the course of doing this podcast a
- 10:25Speaker 1: wonderful dribbler by the name of Daryl Milton. And Daryl
- 10:27Speaker 1: knows an extraordinary amount about netball, but also about popular culture,
- 10:32Speaker 1: which I love. Here is an enormous contributor to our
- 10:35Speaker 1: community with silly memes but interesting actual facts and stuff too.
- 10:41Speaker 1: He seems to have some rigor in his research, which
- 10:44Speaker 1: I like. Yeah, So I wanted to invite Daryl to
- 10:47Speaker 1: join us today because I think he has really made
- 10:49Speaker 1: an awesome contribution to us and our community this year,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and I felt like we should give him a little
- 10:55Speaker 1: round of no dribble applause for that.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I'm just going to diggle my dildos here.
- 11:05Speaker 1: We should put that on a T shirt next year, shouldn't.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm just get Christmas T.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Shirt my money. Don't jiggle check on, fols. I like
- 11:13Speaker 5: to see you, for sure. It makes me want to
- 11:16Speaker 5: dribble dribble, you know, riding in my feet. You really
- 11:19Speaker 5: have to see it, six feet two in a compact.
- 11:22Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:23Speaker 1: So Darryl, you've taken on a task of well, yes.
- 11:26Speaker 4: All right, so your your naughty list. I think it
- 11:29Speaker 4: has to be that. I'm going to guess that you
- 11:32Speaker 4: drunk Cat's gin and tonic that you you bought for
- 11:36Speaker 4: her while she was hard at work. Yes, I think
- 11:39Speaker 4: that's enough to put you on the on the NOI list.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But isn't that, from an environmental perspective responsible of me
- 11:45Speaker 1: to very much say yes, thank you?
- 11:49Speaker 2: Still naughty? Now?
- 11:50Speaker 4: Kath gets on a noidy list for trying to steal
- 11:52Speaker 4: everyone's tips, many posts, video posts and.
- 11:56Speaker 2: With the p.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I do I have?
- 12:02Speaker 4: She does?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yes?
- 12:03Speaker 1: She particularly what as soon as Barb started tipping? Well,
- 12:05Speaker 1: CAF wanted Barb's tips.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Listen, I did that one time and I failed, and
- 12:10Speaker 3: then I went back to my system one go, but
- 12:12Speaker 3: that one time? You're right?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Did you have a system? Called?
- 12:16Speaker 4: Two times? There was a video one and a written one,
- 12:19Speaker 4: but we won't go into that.
- 12:20Speaker 3: So okay, who him?
- 12:22Speaker 1: He's so rigorous, tough but fair.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Yep. Now Liz gets on the naughty list for making
- 12:30Speaker 4: the child make up her own mind between sport and
- 12:32Speaker 4: the holiday.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yes, that's just cul and the holiday one.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, crawel though, see that's another tip that I got wrong,
- 12:43Speaker 1: Wasn't it? Like that's yet another thing that I've made
- 12:46Speaker 1: a prediction on. That's why I can't make a prediction
- 12:48Speaker 1: on this dog now.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I'd also like to include Sue Gordian on this because
- 12:52Speaker 4: I think I think that she gets onto the naughty
- 12:55Speaker 4: list for pushing the price of pistachios.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Up one and making us eat Dubai chocolate, which was disappointing.
- 13:05Speaker 4: If she didn't invest in the world pistachio market before
- 13:09Speaker 4: making the Dubai Chocolate call.
- 13:11Speaker 1: You know, I think she's we're not public service here.
- 13:15Speaker 1: There aren't particularly strong governance rules dictating what we can
- 13:19Speaker 1: and can't do insider trading. I had hoped that we
- 13:22Speaker 1: would be ending the year with a huge sponsorship from
- 13:25Speaker 1: Dubai Chocolate, but that has not happened. The same, but
- 13:28Speaker 1: you've got.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Something in the fridge. Can you believe have the real stuff,
- 13:31Speaker 3: the proper stuff that I brought back from Dubai which
- 13:34Speaker 3: melted on the way back. That I won't surprise anybody
- 13:36Speaker 3: because clearly I had to get from the terminal to
- 13:39Speaker 3: the plane. Ye on a tarmac in Dubai.
- 13:41Speaker 4: It's quite hot.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so it was a little bit sloppy when
- 13:44Speaker 3: I got at home, but that's okay. Test the same.
- 13:46Speaker 2: It's the first time you've said that.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Anyway, press on.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Well for the good one, I think collectively, and I'd
- 14:10Speaker 4: like to say on behalf of all the No Dribble listeners.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I think that you know you make it on the
- 14:17Speaker 4: good list because of this podcast. It is so funny.
- 14:21Speaker 4: It is the most entertaining thing, and it's something I
- 14:23Speaker 4: know that I'm not the only one, but so many
- 14:25Speaker 4: people look forward to it each week, so you can't
- 14:28Speaker 4: go and have a holiday bed unfortunately, so you've got
- 14:30Speaker 4: to continue through the summer.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Oh fu, that's a really really sweet of you, and
- 14:35Speaker 3: I mean, as Carolyn said at the start, you are
- 14:38Speaker 3: very important to our podcast. I think you've basically had
- 14:41Speaker 3: to mention every week for at least this year. Yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 3: hasn't he every single episode there's been something we've been
- 14:48Speaker 3: talking about where your name has come up, and I'll
- 14:52Speaker 3: put you on the naughty list and the nice list
- 14:54Speaker 3: because some of them you don't come through with. For
- 14:57Speaker 3: you to pop up right when we're talking about the
- 14:59Speaker 3: Grinch to I mean the timing, couldn't that was brilliantly,
- 15:02Speaker 3: very well played well.
- 15:03Speaker 4: I look forward to hearing the beginning of the episode
- 15:06Speaker 4: in today's time.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So this and Darryl, it's great that you've died in
- 15:09Speaker 2: I was a bit worried because you know, you shouldn't
- 15:11Speaker 2: like Daryl. You're a bit of a You're a man,
- 15:13Speaker 2: the myth, the legend. We talk about you often, but
- 15:17Speaker 2: but do you want but you have a disappointed So
- 15:19Speaker 2: well done, Thank thank you, Adel.
- 15:21Speaker 3: What are you doing for Christmas.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Oh well, we were happening kind of a low key
- 15:26Speaker 4: being unfortunately done as dad is not too well at
- 15:29Speaker 4: the moment, suffering from dementia. So yeah, we kind of
- 15:33Speaker 4: putting a little planes although we've got our family Christmas
- 15:35Speaker 4: this Saturday, hopefully that will go ahead. So yeah, oh
- 15:40Speaker 4: we're thinking.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Of thinking of you and hope you do have a
- 15:42Speaker 3: nice Chrissy. When when do you guys put your tree up?
- 15:44Speaker 1: Are you know?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Vamba or December?
- 15:45Speaker 4: People already got it. We did. We did it on
- 15:47Speaker 4: the thirtieth because that's the day that all all four
- 15:52Speaker 4: kids were home. Although only to the kids help.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Out, so.
- 15:56Speaker 1: That's not a bad ratio though, fifty percent children success.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I think that's why you have to have a lot,
- 16:03Speaker 1: isn't it? In the hope that account.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Yep to a mind to her donners.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, well you're an amazing netball dad. You're
- 16:10Speaker 1: amazing netball step dad. You're a great fan of the game.
- 16:13Speaker 1: You're a credit to your gender, and let me tell you,
- 16:16Speaker 1: your gender lets us all down quite a lot. So
- 16:19Speaker 1: good job you, thank you very much, and yeah, thanks
- 16:22Speaker 1: for joining.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Us before you go, though, Darryl, because I know you
- 16:26Speaker 3: are across all the data and the ins and outs
- 16:29Speaker 3: and the bits and pieces that we don't think about often.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Who's winning the comp next year?
- 16:33Speaker 1: That's a great question, Catherine. We could talk about netball
- 16:35Speaker 1: with Daryl as well.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's true.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Actually, I do have five statistic trivia questions that i've.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Trivia.
- 16:44Speaker 4: So if we can go through that first and then
- 16:46Speaker 4: I will, then I'll tell you who I think we'll
- 16:48Speaker 4: win the competition next year.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Okay, okay, So what are our buzzies names?
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to say a named buzz in. Okay,
- 16:56Speaker 4: So here's the question. Number one. We average sixteen team
- 17:00Speaker 4: in the Netble World Cup, but we have seen as
- 17:02Speaker 4: few as eighteen in the ninety seven tournament. What is
- 17:06Speaker 4: the greatest number of teams playing in Netble World Cup?
- 17:08Speaker 3: And what you was this?
- 17:10Speaker 4: Okay?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Thirty? There were thirty two teams in nineteen ninety nine.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Oh okay, I'm going to have to chee the stat
- 17:17Speaker 6: on that because I have twenty I have twenty seven
- 17:21Speaker 6: teams in nineteen ninety five.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I could be very wrong. Now let's google it.
- 17:27Speaker 6: Oh my god, there was twenty Yeah, there was twenty
- 17:29Speaker 6: seven teams in ninety five. Do you know where that
- 17:31Speaker 6: was held at ninety five? Yeah, yeah, that was in
- 17:36Speaker 6: Birmingham and Australia on the final.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Do you know the score North Africa?
- 17:40Speaker 4: Yeah? Do you know the score?
- 17:42Speaker 3: No?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Good idea of the score.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, well you only let him fifty eight forty eight goals,
- 17:46Speaker 4: so that's sixty eighty on the other end.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Ohain, okay, I mean anytime you keep our own fandip
- 17:52Speaker 2: to under fifty goals is a good thing. I thought, Hey,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'm googling.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Can you go into do you want to do? Do
- 17:58Speaker 4: you want to have a look at the Yeah, well
- 18:00Speaker 4: we don't.
- 18:00Speaker 2: We can't let people hanging all year.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Well I'm wondering. Will there be any questions in
- 18:07Speaker 1: this that I can answer?
- 18:09Speaker 4: Yes, yes, it would be okay, okay, so speaking of
- 18:15Speaker 4: the world.
- 18:16Speaker 2: No, sorry, I know you, I know you onto your
- 18:19Speaker 2: next thing. You were correct. There was twenty six teams
- 18:22Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety nine.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Okay, Just for the record, did anyone actually think Lizard
- 18:27Speaker 3: got it right over Daryl? No?
- 18:31Speaker 2: But I was so confident. I was hoping to trigger.
- 18:33Speaker 4: I liked that she was and they've got maybe questions.
- 18:37Speaker 4: You were that for a minute.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, So do hang on is this like hard? Queiz?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Do I get Vitus five? Now I have got it wrong? Yes, yes, yeah, okay,
- 18:45Speaker 2: fair enough.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Well, Daryl will have to keep track of all the numbers.
- 18:48Speaker 1: That's not out having a swig of wine.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'm drinking, but I'm thinking I should have got my
- 18:53Speaker 2: son here to do the numbers. Give you just got
- 18:55Speaker 2: it a massive Yeah, that's true anyway.
- 18:58Speaker 4: So, speaking of the world, how many teams on nations
- 19:00Speaker 4: to currently have a ranking on the World Netball Ranking table?
- 19:04Speaker 4: Carry the new one was released last week?
- 19:06Speaker 1: Carolyn, you got John Lennon?
- 19:08Speaker 4: John Lennon? Are you're just imagining all those people?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Nice?
- 19:15Speaker 2: Beautiful?
- 19:17Speaker 4: I love your work.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I was gonna say the same thing. I can't believe it.
- 19:20Speaker 1: The Grinch might have a have a view.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Okay, Li's what's your what's your answer? How many teams?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Yeah? I know, I don't.
- 19:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:28Speaker 2: It says with the world ranking, So would it be
- 19:30Speaker 2: seventy something?
- 19:31Speaker 4: It's less than seventy?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Okay, Kathy, have you got your she said, Well.
- 19:36Speaker 1: When we do it, price is right?
- 19:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's lower than Okay, we can hang on
- 19:41Speaker 2: telling that. We also have a guest. So, Carolyn, what's
- 19:43Speaker 2: your guess. Once it's over your number, it's out. Price
- 19:46Speaker 2: is right, forty eight? Now you you can't know that
- 19:51Speaker 2: until you actually.
- 19:53Speaker 3: So we know which way we're going for the next guest, right, No,
- 19:56Speaker 3: we're all going to guess.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Yeah, you guess first of all, and then you know.
- 20:00Speaker 4: If you go over, you're out. But if it's I'll
- 20:03Speaker 4: say that forty eight is close.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Oh nice, I like that to see with my first one.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Seventy seven is forty eight closer than John Lennon?
- 20:10Speaker 4: Yes it is, Kath did you give an edwer forty five?
- 20:17Speaker 4: It's fifty four?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Ik nice, there's enough.
- 20:22Speaker 4: There's enough teams to get an Olympics ranking. I think
- 20:25Speaker 4: going so I want to use those numbers, thanks, Cerril.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yes, currently we're on zero points each on each Yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 1: that tracks all.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Right, we'll go with the prices right again with this one.
- 20:39Speaker 4: There are currently eight teams. Each team can sign ten players.
- 20:43Speaker 4: They have an optional eleventh player that gives us eighty
- 20:46Speaker 4: eight contracts. But how many players were named this season,
- 20:49Speaker 4: whether they took the court or not. It's higher than
- 20:54Speaker 4: eighty eight.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I can't tell you that much.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Ninety two, it's higher than ninety two. Ninety five, one hundred,
- 21:05Speaker 4: it's one hundred and six.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Oh there you go, Yes, so by that year meaning
- 21:10Speaker 3: training partners whoever's.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's that's well, that's if they get named,
- 21:15Speaker 4: whether they sat on the bench for the whole game,
- 21:16Speaker 4: that's you know, like we had the Lightning named the
- 21:19Speaker 4: Kissels player. That's the one that looks like it looks
- 21:22Speaker 4: like ash, the one looks like ash Evan ye Barry
- 21:28Speaker 4: Barry Barry. Yeah, so she was named. She didn't play,
- 21:32Speaker 4: She sat on the bench for the for the game.
- 21:34Speaker 4: But yeah, it was a title of one hundred and
- 21:35Speaker 4: six players.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That I still point out that we're on zero points.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Bonus points. Which team named the Which team named the
- 21:48Speaker 4: greatest amount of players this year?
- 21:50Speaker 1: Carolyn, Yep, Giants, No, oh, it's big someone with the
- 21:58Speaker 1: lot of injuries, right.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Fever, No, it's not Fever.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Okay, you've got a one in six chance now, t Birds,
- 22:07Speaker 1: that's what it was in Sea Birds.
- 22:10Speaker 4: So it was a lightning. Lightning named fifteen players.
- 22:12Speaker 2: How did you go?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Firebirds name fourteen? Interesting with Firebirds, they didn't name an
- 22:17Speaker 4: eleventh player this year. The Mavericks, the Giants, and the
- 22:19Speaker 4: Fever Thunderbirds all had thirteen, and the Swifts and the
- 22:22Speaker 4: Vixens had twelve. And the interesting thing with the Vixens
- 22:26Speaker 4: is that until the preliminary final they only used their
- 22:30Speaker 4: ten players. Yeah, throughout the whole season. Wow, Tara Watson,
- 22:35Speaker 4: she came in and she played, She played some a
- 22:38Speaker 4: few minutes and got eight and a half SSN points.
- 22:40Speaker 4: His a statistic, which is quite an amazing sort of thing.
- 22:43Speaker 4: So the interesting to hear gets this one. Think about
- 22:46Speaker 4: the twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four SSN seasons.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Which team scored the least number of goals in twenty
- 22:53Speaker 4: twenty three and the second lowest amount in twenty twenty four.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Fibers, is your name firebirds? Or is your name Catherine.
- 23:01Speaker 3: One of the exercise?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Not firebirds.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It's not five birds sucked.
- 23:05Speaker 1: In, Carolyn.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I'm going to go with.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Giants.
- 23:15Speaker 4: No, it wasn't the giants either. Oh okay, I'll go
- 23:17Speaker 4: with light No it wasn't lightning. Oh yeah you it
- 23:21Speaker 4: was the Thunderbirds. Ah, yes, the Thunderbirds. They averaged fifty
- 23:26Speaker 4: three point nine goals in twenty twenty three and six
- 23:29Speaker 4: twenty twenty four, but they had their defense. And this
- 23:33Speaker 4: is why I think the defense is really good for
- 23:35Speaker 4: the ball. They had fifty point four and fifty point
- 23:38Speaker 4: one respectively, so obviously they had to score more points
- 23:42Speaker 4: in the when they went to the finals. But they
- 23:44Speaker 4: are a defense heavy team. And it's a stat that
- 23:47Speaker 4: you look at and you go, how does a team
- 23:49Speaker 4: that has the lowest amount of goals win two Grand
- 23:52Speaker 4: Finals in a row?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Shamira Sterling. Is the answer that is?
- 23:56Speaker 1: That is a read what trivia question?
- 23:58Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 23:58Speaker 4: Exactly?
- 23:58Speaker 1: Isn't it like that?
- 23:59Speaker 3: Is?
- 23:59Speaker 1: You would not No, no, none of us thought of that,
- 24:02Speaker 1: not even my friends burn over here.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yeah, no idea about here. I was throwing it out.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Oh god, thank god. You don't commentag for a living.
- 24:17Speaker 3: The truth and the laugh A good story.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Daryl, Are you familiar with David Middleton, the NRL statistician.
- 24:23Speaker 1: No, he's the brother of the future Queen of England.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I believe we'll go with that.
- 24:30Speaker 4: No, he's a I've always admired since the days a
- 24:34Speaker 4: listening to NRL commentary back on the radio, back on
- 24:38Speaker 4: say two GB or two u E. Yeah, he was
- 24:40Speaker 4: on there just feeding stats to the commentators and I've
- 24:43Speaker 4: always loved I think stats is the one of the
- 24:47Speaker 4: funnest color commentary sort.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Of things must be pointed in this little quiz that
- 24:54Speaker 1: did anyone get a point? I don't think any of
- 24:56Speaker 1: us managed.
- 24:57Speaker 3: To get question about girls of the Playboy Mansion or
- 25:02Speaker 3: the Kardashians.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got it. Yeah, if we want to do
- 25:06Speaker 1: something on Beverly Hills nine oh two, I know. I
- 25:09Speaker 1: that's I can totally take that trophy.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure, but we're not so good.
- 25:14Speaker 1: But let's just let's just agree that all three of
- 25:18Speaker 1: us are world champions at the moment. Then, right, that's true.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Not the same as you in this It's the one
- 25:25Speaker 1: time we've been head to head on anything and neither
- 25:28Speaker 1: of you have bested me.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So equally suck.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm proud of us. So I'm so
- 25:34Speaker 1: proud of us.
- 25:34Speaker 2: True.
- 25:35Speaker 1: But actually, Darryl, while you're here, I think we should
- 25:38Speaker 1: talk about some netball. And there is netball that has
- 25:41Speaker 1: been announced this week.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Wait, who's going to win next year?
- 25:44Speaker 2: He's got to tell us.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's true.
- 25:48Speaker 4: At this stage, I'm thinking that a Victorian team will win,
- 25:52Speaker 4: but maybe not the Victorian team that won this year.
- 25:55Speaker 4: I'm going to put it out there. I think that
- 25:57Speaker 4: the Mavericks are going to surprise people.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Okay, interesting, I've got a lot of turmoil, a lot
- 26:04Speaker 1: of a lot of change, a lot of new faces
- 26:07Speaker 1: come in. They have incredible talent on court. Interesting. All right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: well you'll be blind me.
- 26:13Speaker 4: They will surprise everyone.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Looking forward to that, I would like you very much.
- 26:18Speaker 4: All right.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Before that, though, we have the Sunshine Girls coming to
- 26:21Speaker 1: play a three Test series against Australia in Australia. The
- 26:26Speaker 1: last head to head series that these two teams played
- 26:29Speaker 1: was in twenty and eleven.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so excited. Yeah, it's going to be These
- 26:35Speaker 3: are going to be un real. When you think about
- 26:38Speaker 3: all the Jamaican superstars we've got playing over here now
- 26:41Speaker 3: and we get to watch them up against the Eelsi's
- 26:43Speaker 3: is going to be brilliant.
- 26:44Speaker 1: So if you don't know, Jamaica is playing against the
- 26:48Speaker 1: Diamonds and the fifth of Feb in Adelaide, on the
- 26:50Speaker 1: eighth of feb in Perth, and on the eleventh of
- 26:53Speaker 1: feb in Melbourne. And I've got to say, Sydney, we
- 26:56Speaker 1: don't deserve any more Test matches the way the numbers
- 26:59Speaker 1: were this year. So I'm all in favor of netple
- 27:03Speaker 1: Australia taking the games to places where they will where
- 27:06Speaker 1: they will sell out. But I'm super jealous because I would.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Love to be lucky that we're lucky we're not holding
- 27:11Speaker 4: a World Cup in Sydney.
- 27:12Speaker 3: We'll be fine by them. Yeah, we'll get Download Joe
- 27:14Speaker 3: by them. But the best thing about this too is
- 27:16Speaker 3: the start a fab. We have to wait very long
- 27:19Speaker 3: that I know. The time we get through Christmas, everyone
- 27:21Speaker 3: gets their kids back to school, we're on.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Yeah, if you just get through the end of the
- 27:25Speaker 1: notable summer series and then we are back on.
- 27:28Speaker 3: So we're back, baby. You can always jump on a
- 27:31Speaker 3: plane too.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Ps I could do that. I've got a lot of
- 27:34Speaker 2: the Apple.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Planned this year around super netbal not going to Europe
- 27:38Speaker 1: at the wrong time. But anyway, first world problems. Carolyn
- 27:43Speaker 1: missed some Network games because she was in Europe. It's
- 27:47Speaker 1: a well Chinese violin, okay, let me tell you so.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Twenty twenty three Network World Cup in South Africa. Australia
- 27:54Speaker 1: won that World Cup, but defeated Jamaica narrowly to get
- 27:58Speaker 1: through to that gold medal mat which they then played
- 28:01Speaker 1: against England and won. So fifty seven to fifty four.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Jamaica had been previously undefeated in the tournament and they
- 28:07Speaker 1: ended up taking the bronze medal home. But you know
- 28:10Speaker 1: they've Shmier Stirling, Humphrey, jodm Ward, Latania Wilson, Janille fellon
- 28:15Speaker 1: Emmud was the top scorer in that World Cup with
- 28:17Speaker 1: three hundred and two goals and a ninety seven point
- 28:19Speaker 1: four percent shooting accuracy. Sophie Garbin was the seventh top
- 28:24Speaker 1: scorer with two hundred and fifteen goals and a ninety
- 28:28Speaker 1: percent accuracy. So it's it's this is going to be
- 28:31Speaker 1: a hell of a series, I reckon. I'm very excited
- 28:34Speaker 1: about what great prep for Commonwealth Games.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Jamaica was always a bogey team at the World Cup,
- 28:40Speaker 3: wasn't it least? And common Commonwealth Games you'd quite often
- 28:43Speaker 3: face them in a semi final or something to get
- 28:45Speaker 3: through to the gold medal game, and you would be
- 28:47Speaker 3: so nervous about the game because you know what they're like, Yeah,
- 28:51Speaker 3: they can put it all together. They'd smash anyone on
- 28:54Speaker 3: any day.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, And well you just know in those
- 28:58Speaker 2: games because they've got those tall shooters. They've always had
- 29:00Speaker 2: a tall shooter. You knew that even if you're five
- 29:04Speaker 2: or six up, they could just come back at you.
- 29:06Speaker 2: It was such a nerve, just a nervous team to
- 29:10Speaker 2: play against. It's just unpleasant in terms of when you're
- 29:13Speaker 2: thinking about, like everyone expects the Diamonds to go through
- 29:15Speaker 2: to the Grand Final and you ever want to be
- 29:17Speaker 2: talking about or do I think we're going to get
- 29:20Speaker 2: a win the semi first?
- 29:22Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 29:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't be at all confident of Australia taking home.
- 29:26Speaker 3: That's the series, isn't it.
- 29:27Speaker 1: But the wins in this series like that is that's
- 29:30Speaker 1: just going to be incredible. So we record on a Monday,
- 29:34Speaker 1: and pre sale for Netball Nation members started today, so
- 29:39Speaker 1: by the time we're on air on Wednesday, I suspect
- 29:42Speaker 1: it'll be the public sale. But you know, don't let
- 29:44Speaker 1: grass grow under your feet. Get those tickets because I
- 29:47Speaker 1: think that will be very popular among the network community
- 29:50Speaker 1: and so exciting.
- 29:51Speaker 3: And great Christmas present.
- 29:52Speaker 1: If you haven't got it, yes, nice nice work. Yeah
- 29:55Speaker 1: all right, well Darryl, thank you, thank you for joining us,
- 29:59Speaker 1: Thank you for so good for you to jump on.
- 30:01Speaker 1: What does Christmas Day look like for you?
- 30:04Speaker 4: Possibly quiet one, we're just talking about maybe catching up
- 30:07Speaker 4: with my brother and hiss Van for breakfast, and yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 4: that might be a thing to do. I don't know
- 30:11Speaker 4: about lunchy, it don't know about dinner. We're just pretty
- 30:14Speaker 4: cash on this.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Consider this wisdom. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, but
- 30:18Speaker 1: if the white runs out, I'll drink the red. So well,
- 30:26Speaker 1: thank you Daryl for being an integral part of our
- 30:27Speaker 1: community for from the very beginning. I believe, but yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 1: we really appreciate you and look forward to hearing more.
- 30:36Speaker 4: I have to thank Donna for I didn't know about
- 30:39Speaker 4: the podcast at first, and she mentioned it to me
- 30:42Speaker 4: and I was like, this is exciting. So word of
- 30:44Speaker 4: mouth is always a good thing, and you bring together
- 30:47Speaker 4: two of my favorite things which I loved Newport. I
- 30:49Speaker 4: think it's such a great sport. It's highly underrated. I
- 30:52Speaker 4: try and get so many more guys into it. A
- 30:55Speaker 4: lot of people just say to me, I don't know
- 30:57Speaker 4: about that, and I'm like, you know, and the laughter,
- 31:02Speaker 4: the laughter. You should be able to laugh about everything.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So you know you have absolutely contributed to that with
- 31:07Speaker 1: your nonsense memes this.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Year, and please you know it'll be plenty more next year.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Thank you. Darryl Milton, Oh, that was so funny, literally
- 31:22Speaker 3: talking about the Grinch and he pops.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Up, Yes, but he sees the anti Grinch, right, But
- 31:26Speaker 1: we were talking about that. I had this set this
- 31:28Speaker 1: video around and this is people who have quite small
- 31:31Speaker 1: children four and five years old, and the Grinch comes
- 31:34Speaker 1: to their door and these children are terrified.
- 31:38Speaker 3: So can I tell you I got your link. I
- 31:40Speaker 3: got the link last night and I had literally just
- 31:43Speaker 3: finished watching a scary movie and I saw what it
- 31:47Speaker 3: was about, and I couldn't watch it because I thought
- 31:49Speaker 3: I was about to go to bed. And when I finish,
- 31:52Speaker 3: When I finished with a scary movie, I like, you
- 31:54Speaker 3: got positive thoughts back in my head if I'm sleeping, thought,
- 31:57Speaker 3: I can't watch that because I will not go to sleep.
- 31:59Speaker 3: So I haven't actually looked at it.
- 32:01Speaker 1: That is so funny. I'm just remembering your rollercoaster choices too,
- 32:05Speaker 1: so you are better to manage your your nervousness and
- 32:09Speaker 1: heading into a saying, well, it was a scary movie
- 32:11Speaker 1: you watched, It wasn't It.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Wasn't a scary It's more it's just a true story.
- 32:15Speaker 3: It's called the Murdos Murdox. I think you pronounced yes
- 32:19Speaker 3: about the family in the US that are a family
- 32:22Speaker 3: of lawyers, and they're just covering up all this crap
- 32:24Speaker 3: that happens within their family. Dad ends up killing I've
- 32:28Speaker 3: just told everybody, don't watch it now.
- 32:30Speaker 1: No, it was all this, this is, this has been
- 32:32Speaker 1: in the media.
- 32:34Speaker 3: It ends up killing his wife and his child, and
- 32:36Speaker 3: literally that had just happened at the end, and I'm like, yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 3: I'm not watching any greench.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Boo, I'm not. I might be scared like a three
- 32:44Speaker 1: year old.
- 32:45Speaker 2: That Grench video is priceless though, Like at one point
- 32:47Speaker 2: there's they've got someone dressed up as a cop coming
- 32:49Speaker 2: to arrest the Grinch, and the little kid come and
- 32:51Speaker 2: lays into it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: But I'm like, kid kicking that Uncle Paul in the
- 32:59Speaker 3: jingle bell.
- 33:03Speaker 1: So I do have another surprise for you, Catherine. I
- 33:06Speaker 1: was because I was just talking about a white Christmas.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You know, last year I did that film clip for
- 33:10Speaker 1: that Christmas song that we did, which on reflection, is
- 33:14Speaker 1: very funny. I've had to buy quite a lot of things,
- 33:16Speaker 1: like I have a plastic turkey here beside me, also
- 33:20Speaker 1: a plastic lobster. But look look what I've also got.
- 33:23Speaker 1: This is going to destroy Alex our producer, because it's
- 33:26Speaker 1: really loud, but it's bloody awesome. Are we ready?
- 33:28Speaker 3: No?
- 33:29Speaker 1: Well, it's snowing, all right, that's enough. I have to
- 33:37Speaker 1: clean it up after if it's basically just just detergent.
- 33:41Speaker 1: So anyway, that's the snow machine. If anyone needs a
- 33:44Speaker 1: snow machine, you can buy them for ninety dollars.
- 33:47Speaker 4: So there you go.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Well, albums on you.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Did you bring any surprises for me?
- 33:53Speaker 3: Oh?
- 33:53Speaker 1: You bought me a lovely gift, Thank you very much.
- 33:56Speaker 3: You're wondering what's going on in there because the only
- 33:58Speaker 3: thing you can see is an orange.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I like that, but that's quite traditional Christmas, isn't it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: The orange is in the stocking. That's all you're getting,
- 34:05Speaker 1: nice like, it's not a lump of coal. So I
- 34:07Speaker 1: appreciate that. Nderneath the orange Santa one you gave. Evelyn
- 34:11Speaker 1: went to his little potatoes because she'd been a bit
- 34:13Speaker 1: naughty and we thought, oh, this will pull it up.
- 34:16Speaker 1: She won't be very happy about getting potatoes, but she
- 34:18Speaker 1: was raped because then she got my mum to make
- 34:20Speaker 1: potato salad.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Oh that's so great, And I was like, that is
- 34:26Speaker 2: you've just lost the lesson, kid?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Well, you have just lost a lesson.
- 34:32Speaker 1: You've got harsh Santa. We have a Santa who makes
- 34:35Speaker 1: a lot of threats and never follows through.
- 34:37Speaker 3: So that's the problem. You can't Christmas Day, can you.
- 34:41Speaker 1: We don't want to ruin your own Christmas DearS, so
- 34:43Speaker 1: you got to tell your sanded back off.
- 34:45Speaker 3: So when we were kids, I don't know if you
- 34:48Speaker 3: guys did this, but my sister and I would unwrap
- 34:51Speaker 3: the presents under the tree every year to see what
- 34:53Speaker 3: they were prior to Christmas.
- 34:54Speaker 1: The little shits, I know.
- 34:56Speaker 3: And now if anyone gives me a present ahead of Christmas,
- 35:00Speaker 3: I refuse to open it. Yeah, I will not open
- 35:02Speaker 3: it until it's Christmas Day because I don't want any
- 35:05Speaker 3: surprises ruined. Because every year, without fail, you get to
- 35:08Speaker 3: Christmas Day and they're like, oh, we know what it is.
- 35:11Speaker 1: So I being at about eleven and Mum had put
- 35:14Speaker 1: some presents under the tree and I didn't open it,
- 35:17Speaker 1: but I smoothed the wrapping paper down and I could
- 35:20Speaker 1: It was white wrapping paper and I could see through it,
- 35:23Speaker 1: and then I just went, oh, now Christmas is wrecked.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It was actually a really good lesson for me that
- 35:28Speaker 1: it's like, well, yes, I could go and find out
- 35:30Speaker 1: what this is, but to what end? Like, what's the
- 35:33Speaker 1: what's the point of that?
- 35:35Speaker 3: The other lesson I learned was not going out Christmas Eve?
- 35:39Speaker 3: One Christmas Eve and had a brilliant night, but could
- 35:43Speaker 3: not get out of bed till like eleven the next day,
- 35:46Speaker 3: ruined the whole day and ruined my family's whole day.
- 35:49Speaker 1: How are we twenty twenty two? Yeah, that sounds about right,
- 35:53Speaker 1: doesn't it?
- 35:54Speaker 2: Lesson learn never again?
- 35:59Speaker 1: So, apart from the potatoes, did like that?
- 36:02Speaker 3: Was?
- 36:02Speaker 1: That was what Santa brought? Did you guys bring anything else?
- 36:05Speaker 1: And we've got snow falling off?
- 36:06Speaker 3: Everything is going to stay in the room, Santa?
- 36:12Speaker 1: So was it just the Santa present?
- 36:16Speaker 2: No, Santa Santa did bring other presents, but perhaps not
- 36:19Speaker 2: the full breath of presents that one might have liked.
- 36:22Speaker 2: So some presents that's got swapped out. But the funny
- 36:25Speaker 2: thing is now that she couldn't tell you what presence
- 36:27Speaker 2: got swapped out. She just remembers the fact you got
- 36:29Speaker 2: potatoes and that meat. You got potato salad.
- 36:31Speaker 1: So that got here only potato salad eater in my family?
- 36:35Speaker 2: What do you deal it with?
- 36:37Speaker 1: Egg? Yeah? So a lot of like chives, spring onions
- 36:46Speaker 1: and mustard mixed with some mayo. And I used Greek yogurt,
- 36:51Speaker 1: so it's a lighter sort of tanging about him to
- 36:53Speaker 1: store mayo?
- 36:54Speaker 3: Nice?
- 36:55Speaker 4: Nice?
- 36:56Speaker 3: What's pot one go to?
- 36:58Speaker 1: You have to have every crisp deviled eggs. It's the
- 37:01Speaker 1: one day of the year that I will eat that
- 37:03Speaker 1: I can eat them. I don't well, I could eat
- 37:05Speaker 1: them every day. I suppose I'm a grown woman. I
- 37:07Speaker 1: can make my own decisions. But i's on Christmas and
- 37:11Speaker 1: eat about six of them. I love them.
- 37:14Speaker 3: You'd be fun hones the Dutch ovens that night. Have
- 37:20Speaker 3: them with you turky or something? Do you?
- 37:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 37:22Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 37:23Speaker 2: Wow?
- 37:24Speaker 3: Interesting?
- 37:25Speaker 2: What about you?
- 37:26Speaker 3: I don't know. We mix the meats up every year.
- 37:28Speaker 2: It just depends on who can be bothered doing what.
- 37:31Speaker 3: But the one thing that they everybody knows they have
- 37:34Speaker 3: to get me every year is a box of chocolates.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Okay, because and I think it goes back.
- 37:38Speaker 3: To training, because you know, you're so streaked all year
- 37:42Speaker 3: and you don't eat, you just don't eat. Shout that
- 37:44Speaker 3: Christmas day is the one day you pull the rip cord.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And what sort of chocolates are your favorite?
- 37:49Speaker 3: Well, I didn't care if someone got me a box
- 37:52Speaker 3: of chocolates Christmas Day when I was in the midst
- 37:53Speaker 3: of training. It would be like, I can eat it today,
- 37:56Speaker 3: and I'd eat the whole box. And it's the one
- 37:58Speaker 3: thing that has to happen every year. It's crazy.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah no, now, no, it's lovely.
- 38:02Speaker 3: It's not as exciting because I understeak that all.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Lib guys. For me, it's fruit loops. I always got
- 38:11Speaker 2: fruit loops for Christmas when I was a kid because
- 38:13Speaker 2: it's the only time I was.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Allowed to have.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Like you wouldn't eat those, now, would you?
- 38:18Speaker 2: Yeah? I wouldn't. I don't eat them any other day.
- 38:21Speaker 2: I have no desire to eat them. But since I
- 38:24Speaker 2: always got a box of fruit loops as a kid,
- 38:26Speaker 2: so then fruit loops tastes like Christmas. Right in the morning,
- 38:30Speaker 2: I have a big bowl of fruit loops, and then
- 38:32Speaker 2: like we go baking and eggs, and then we just
- 38:34Speaker 2: get into you know, we always have like ham, chicken, salad,
- 38:38Speaker 2: tady baked prawns, all that sort of stuff. But I like,
- 38:41Speaker 2: I just love getting my box of fruit loops. And
- 38:43Speaker 2: then I'll have a boxing day and then I'm over
- 38:45Speaker 2: and I'm like, yeah, I can go till next year. Yeah,
- 38:48Speaker 2: well that's true.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Like how long do you let yourself really off the hook?
- 38:51Speaker 3: Is it? Is it?
- 38:52Speaker 2: Christmas Day?
- 38:52Speaker 4: Boxing Day?
- 38:54Speaker 2: She's like, what is there an end date.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Up until years now? Look just as long as a
- 39:01Speaker 3: box of fruit loops last. And my kids now get
- 39:05Speaker 3: cocoa pops on Christmas Day. There, that's the thing from Santa.
- 39:08Speaker 2: So what are the best?
- 39:09Speaker 3: I often buy those just as it like I have
- 39:11Speaker 3: a cup for dessert.
- 39:13Speaker 2: I just feel like, tell the truth, you would have
- 39:15Speaker 2: them for dinner. Not anymore now.
- 39:20Speaker 1: It's just so when you and Matthew were having cereal
- 39:23Speaker 1: for dinner, it was actually it wasn't like music or
- 39:26Speaker 1: something with any type of nutritional value.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Back then it was still healthy ish right weet. Yes
- 39:33Speaker 3: it was wheetbigs, but with lots of brown sugar on top. Yes,
- 39:39Speaker 3: but no fruit loops. Fruit loops for me for the
- 39:41Speaker 3: wind Christmas fruit loops and a bag of bullets daroughly
- 39:47Speaker 3: dark chocolate bullets.
- 39:48Speaker 2: That I am so happy.
- 39:50Speaker 1: So all I ever asked for is a Terry's dark
- 39:53Speaker 1: chocolate orange and a couple of years ago because I
- 39:57Speaker 1: hadn't received this when it's like, what do you want
- 39:59Speaker 1: for Christmas? On Terry's dark chocolate orange. That's all I want.
- 40:02Speaker 1: That's all I want. I bought it myself and I
- 40:05Speaker 1: put it in my stocking and then I said to
- 40:08Speaker 1: my son when I pulled it out of my stock Darling,
- 40:12Speaker 1: thank you you remembered, And I carried on so grateful,
- 40:16Speaker 1: And Lewis is looking at Pete sort of asking a question,
- 40:22Speaker 1: and but it's just saying to me, yeah, you welcome.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I didn't tell it goes from well, this one I
- 40:29Speaker 1: had to order from the internet, from Amazon, and I
- 40:31Speaker 1: had to order six of it. You had to you
- 40:35Speaker 1: don't want six? You don't want six?
- 40:38Speaker 3: But like, how big are they?
- 40:39Speaker 1: Is it a.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Fantastic you found them in like specialty sweep?
- 40:46Speaker 1: Is it dark?
- 40:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 40:47Speaker 1: It's easy to find the milk Terry's milk chocolate orange.
- 40:49Speaker 1: It's harder to find the dark chocolate orange.
- 40:51Speaker 3: So try.
- 40:53Speaker 1: But it's so, where do you stand on chocolate and
- 40:56Speaker 1: orange together?
- 40:57Speaker 2: No, I'm not a I'm into it.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've only recently discovered that there are people
- 41:03Speaker 1: who don't like this and like the mint and chocolate comminate,
- 41:07Speaker 1: where are you list?
- 41:08Speaker 2: But people who don't like chocolate and oros together are
- 41:10Speaker 2: not our people. Our people not at all love the
- 41:14Speaker 2: chocolate orange meantime a bit I used to love what
- 41:17Speaker 2: were the not the wagon wheels? What were the round things?
- 41:20Speaker 2: Meat slices? Is that what they were?
- 41:22Speaker 3: Like?
- 41:22Speaker 2: The just I used to love chocolate and meat together,
- 41:25Speaker 2: I've I've gone off it in my old age. I
- 41:27Speaker 2: feel like it's chocolate and toothpaste when you're eating mint chok.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I like it less now. When I was younger, there
- 41:33Speaker 1: used to be these Daryl Lee ones, the peppermint creams,
- 41:36Speaker 1: the dark you would know this. I'm looking to you
- 41:37Speaker 1: as the product expert with your big bow.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I actually found some caramel snows, so you know, do
- 41:44Speaker 3: you remember caramel snows? They were my absolute favorite of.
- 41:48Speaker 2: All the stuff.
- 41:48Speaker 3: And they don't do their individual snows anymore. They were
- 41:51Speaker 3: like a bite size one. Now they do a block
- 41:53Speaker 3: of it. Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 1: No, I don't know this. So is it like a
- 41:56Speaker 1: Jersey caramel thing?
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 41:57Speaker 2: But better.
- 41:58Speaker 3: It's kind of got half a bar at home. I
- 42:02Speaker 3: found something will Is the other day at half price.
- 42:04Speaker 1: So it's not from you when you worked there. You've
- 42:07Speaker 1: got half a bar from a recent purchase.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yesterday.
- 42:10Speaker 1: My favorite is the Golden Ruff. If ever I find that,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I am excited still. And the Birdy Beetle, Yeah they do,
- 42:17Speaker 1: they're not They're not easy to find, but the Golden
- 42:20Speaker 1: Ruff and the Birdy Beetle classic chocolates, but I love it.
- 42:23Speaker 1: We'll go. But talking about people who are not our people,
- 42:27Speaker 1: I think we need to talk about Spotify Unwrapped and
- 42:31Speaker 1: my listening age sixty two. So I'm thinking that anyone
- 42:37Speaker 1: who's listening age is their actual age, not our people.
- 42:41Speaker 1: What was your listening age?
- 42:43Speaker 3: Would you want to know though? If it's younger than
- 42:45Speaker 3: your actual age, are they our people or not?
- 42:48Speaker 2: What was yours?
- 42:49Speaker 4: Yes?
- 42:49Speaker 1: Three, I'm so embarrassed for you. That's what shitty you're
- 42:52Speaker 1: listening to?
- 42:53Speaker 3: Well, it's not me, is it? It's my kid? Yeah,
- 42:55Speaker 3: Sabrana Carpenter was my favorite album so much.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Taylor Swiss is my favorite artists apparently, But then because
- 43:01Speaker 1: I had Pulp in there and so so and a
- 43:04Speaker 1: whole lot of what else did I have? It was
- 43:06Speaker 1: late seventies times.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Are you listening to Taylor?
- 43:09Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 43:09Speaker 1: I listened to Taylor. Yeah you love a bit of Taylor?
- 43:11Speaker 3: Well, yes, no, I saw the thirty three and I
- 43:13Speaker 3: was like, well, I know that's not Liz.
- 43:15Speaker 1: What's your listening age, Bertie?
- 43:18Speaker 3: Bertie?
- 43:19Speaker 1: Is this you?
- 43:21Speaker 4: Well?
- 43:21Speaker 2: I initially thought it was Evelyn and then she was like, no, no,
- 43:24Speaker 2: she's got her own account. Her listening age is twenty nine.
- 43:28Speaker 3: You and your child one year apart. Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but maybe he does. He already listens to he
- 43:35Speaker 2: body downloads and listens to like these soccer songs, which
- 43:39Speaker 2: I told you our boys listened to, so that warps it.
- 43:42Speaker 2: But my top artist was Leslie odam Junior. Do you
- 43:45Speaker 2: know who Leslie odem Junior is?
- 43:47Speaker 1: No, Carolyn? Is it from Hamilton?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Ah?
- 43:51Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 43:51Speaker 2: My number two artist was lynd Manuel Miranda.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Is that all Hamilton?
- 43:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all Hamilton, right, because we saw Hamilton at
- 43:59Speaker 2: the start of the year, and then when we ever
- 44:01Speaker 2: we did a road treat, we'd put.
- 44:02Speaker 1: The whole that reflects well on you. So but why
- 44:04Speaker 1: is there listening age so young if it's all Hamilton?
- 44:07Speaker 2: Well maybe because Hamilton's not very old like. So the
- 44:10Speaker 2: way they did it was they didn't like, it's not
- 44:13Speaker 2: the average age of the person that listens to this music.
- 44:15Speaker 2: They take it from when the music's released. Oh so
- 44:18Speaker 2: Hamierzon's only a few years old, right, so that has
- 44:21Speaker 2: totally warped it for me.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Ah, okay was released. I don't understand that.
- 44:27Speaker 1: So it's the year of release of them okay, So
- 44:30Speaker 1: it's they don't just look at a musical theater and
- 44:33Speaker 1: go that's something generally that old people like that. Old
- 44:37Speaker 1: people like they know what year was the music released? Well,
- 44:40Speaker 1: I will say that between it doesn't get calculated again
- 44:43Speaker 1: until the beginning of January. So listen to everything that
- 44:48Speaker 1: you're embarrassed to listen to at the moment, all your
- 44:50Speaker 1: dirty secrets between now in January, and you won't have
- 44:53Speaker 1: to answer to that next year. Also, listen to my
- 44:56Speaker 1: song on Spotify please we do it forne.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Down and put me up? Sorry my age. If I
- 45:02Speaker 3: listened to that, where am I going up or down?
- 45:03Speaker 1: Don't? It will just make you more cheerful, Katurine, I
- 45:06Speaker 1: don't know how old it will. It's an interesting Well,
- 45:08Speaker 1: it was only released last year, so it would make
- 45:11Speaker 1: you quite young and hip, I imagine, although thirty three,
- 45:16Speaker 1: that's pretty that's pretty good.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I'm down with it. What about my favorite podcasts?
- 45:21Speaker 3: Everyone? No dribble was mine.
- 45:26Speaker 2: My goodness, a surprise.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Really, you're like el mcpherst and she'll only read books
- 45:32Speaker 1: that she's written or something written. Yes, I don't know
- 45:36Speaker 1: how much she was involved, but there have been books
- 45:38Speaker 1: written in her name.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Speaking of El McPherson, I just finished watching the Supermodels.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Have you seen that on Apple? No? Oh my god.
- 45:46Speaker 3: I was obsessed with supermodels in the eighties and the
- 45:48Speaker 3: nineties and this is a documentary about four of the
- 45:52Speaker 3: biggest ones.
- 45:52Speaker 1: It's so so like Lindra Evangelista, Naomi Cantell's, Christy Turlington,
- 45:57Speaker 1: Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford.
- 46:00Speaker 2: And it is so good.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Yeah, sober, four part series, unreel is it?
- 46:04Speaker 1: What is it about? Today? I didn't need anything, No.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Just about you don't want to eat them?
- 46:09Speaker 2: Today? I got up. I had a figuration a big
- 46:12Speaker 2: deep breath for breakfast and I couldn't fit another thing.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but they were glamorous when they did it, and
- 46:16Speaker 3: they did the George Michael Freedom ninety music video. I
- 46:19Speaker 3: remember that that was great and then they just look
- 46:21Speaker 3: cutolted into sistuf.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Have watched been as supermodels anymore?
- 46:25Speaker 3: Like?
- 46:26Speaker 1: Has the internet just sort of diluted that whole industry
- 46:30Speaker 1: that way because they were they were amazing, weren't they no?
- 46:34Speaker 1: Very different these days?
- 46:36Speaker 3: They certainly haven't coened anybody like that, since I don't
- 46:41Speaker 3: think in terms of supermodels.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Interesting anyway, Look, so just before we wrap up, there
- 46:47Speaker 2: was a little story that you know, sometimes in this
- 46:49Speaker 2: world there's a lot of good news, and there was
- 46:52Speaker 2: a good news story this week that I bloody loved
- 46:55Speaker 2: young Brody, the first ever person in a wheelchair to
- 47:00Speaker 2: network umpires badge right. I watched it, and then when
- 47:04Speaker 2: they interviewed his mum Dell, I'm a little tea like,
- 47:08Speaker 2: how amazing. So obviously they've got a really great connection.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Dell's an umpire, Brody's taken up umpiring and he's paving
- 47:15Speaker 2: the way for other young people who live their lives
- 47:19Speaker 2: in wheelchairs to have a netball pathway as umpires, and
- 47:23Speaker 2: I think it's bloody fantastic. So world Unbrody and world
- 47:26Speaker 2: Undell too.
- 47:27Speaker 3: To mum, one hundred percent, such a great story and
- 47:30Speaker 3: he's so right because you don't see enough of that,
- 47:32Speaker 3: do you. And it was unreal.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely heartwarming, was there. And it's like good on
- 47:36Speaker 1: your Brady, and good on your brady'smum. It's just like
- 47:39Speaker 1: you know, finding ways to make things happen for your
- 47:42Speaker 1: kids like that. It was an incredible love it. Well,
