Pain has a way of turning our attention inward.
But on the cross, Jesus was still looking outward.
He saw His mother.
He saw the thief beside Him.
He even saw the people crucifying Him and prayed, “Father, forgive them.”
That kind of compassion isn’t simply an emotion. It reveals His character.
And it raises a difficult question for us:
What comes out of me when I’m hurt?
