- 0:00Speaker 1: They get a little they called Melo broadcaster from Atlanta,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Georgia walking to the ball show.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I go by the name of I go by the
- 0:12Speaker 2: name you know, bat the building, My bad ya, yay,
- 0:19Speaker 2: what's up, big dog? Oh man, I'm pretty fair for
- 0:21Speaker 2: a square Okay, pretty fair for a square. Rock with that,
- 0:27Speaker 2: we got new music out, Yeah, new music, man down,
- 0:33Speaker 2: it's my ego, Yeah, quintessential ice Cube. You know, West
- 0:38Speaker 2: Coast flavored, West Coast beats, special guest appearances from you know,
- 0:45Speaker 2: some of some of the homies that uh that I've
- 0:47Speaker 2: been in the game with for a while. And you know,
- 0:51Speaker 2: to me, if you're a Day one fan, Day two fan,
- 0:54Speaker 2: Day three fans, you're gonna love the record.
- 0:57Speaker 1: November twenty second.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Drops November twenty second, A.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Lot of tracks on y'all believe it. I saw fourteen. Damn.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I took a whole bunch off.
- 1:06Speaker 1: That's a lot of music for a list celebrity movie
- 1:11Speaker 1: director actor Ice Cube.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Like, the's a lot of records. Well, that's that's where
- 1:17Speaker 2: I started off making music. So to me, that's the
- 1:22Speaker 2: most natural part of my whole career is making music. Movies,
- 1:27Speaker 2: you know, get a lot of publicity and they play
- 1:29Speaker 2: a lot in people enjoy them in a different way.
- 1:32Speaker 2: But I'm still hungry. I still love hip hop and
- 1:40Speaker 2: doing music and creating song, getting beats, writing rhymes. You know,
- 1:45Speaker 2: that's still fun to me.
- 1:47Speaker 3: So what do you think about the artists nowadays that
- 1:50Speaker 3: you know a lot of artists do have writers.
- 1:52Speaker 2: How do you feel about that? It's always been part
- 1:55Speaker 2: of the game, you know, if you got a writer,
- 1:57Speaker 2: I don't. I don't consider you an MC. You know,
- 2:00Speaker 2: I consider you're vocalist. And that's that's cool it. You know.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I ain't trying to clown but that's just the reality.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But they're an artist, but just not an MC.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Not an MC, you know. To me, MC's you know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: I come from a school where you had to write,
- 2:20Speaker 2: be able to write it and spit it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So if we throw on the beat right now, ice
- 2:24Speaker 1: Cube can get down with it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm not saying I can get down with it for sure.
- 2:28Speaker 2: You know. Freestyle is not my specialty. That's why they free,
- 2:37Speaker 2: you know. But writing is the essence of you know,
- 2:42Speaker 2: all great literature. So I'm a writer.
- 2:45Speaker 1: No man, listen, it's an honor for us to have
- 2:47Speaker 1: you here. Now. I was going through a lot of
- 2:50Speaker 1: the records. Sanctified, She Sanctified, She sanctified. That's a really
- 2:55Speaker 1: good record.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Snoop Dogg. Yeah, too short, too short, October London tober London.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's a good record. I can't wait for that one
- 3:05Speaker 2: to drop. Yeah, me too. You know, I think people
- 3:07Speaker 2: are gonna dig it. You're gonna give us a visual
- 3:10Speaker 2: to that if I could corral them dudes. You know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: they busy all over the world. Where you're gonna find
- 3:17Speaker 2: Snoop he on the moon right now, doing you know
- 3:21Speaker 2: something for Peacocker or NBC or something. So you know,
- 3:27Speaker 2: it's all about corralling them at the right time, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 2: trying to pull these four artists. That's jet said all
- 3:35Speaker 2: over the world, pull them together. But I think anybody,
- 3:38Speaker 2: I think you can do it. Yeah, we'll get it in.
- 3:40Speaker 2: We'll get it in. Okay. Cool.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Now, what's your favorite record off of the project that's
- 3:44Speaker 1: coming out overber twenty seconds?
- 3:46Speaker 2: Man, I love So Sensitive, It's not my favorite. My
- 3:49Speaker 2: favorite is probably Ghetto's Story because it's, uh, it's so today.
- 3:56Speaker 2: You know a lot of people, you know, a lot
- 3:59Speaker 2: of turmoil going on in different neighborhoods. You know, homies,
- 4:04Speaker 2: robbing homies, homies, uh, setting each other up, and you
- 4:08Speaker 2: know it's it's really treacherous. You know, we all know
- 4:10Speaker 2: what happened in Nipsey Hustle and it's a song about
- 4:15Speaker 2: that sentiment. You know what happens when when the people
- 4:19Speaker 2: you grew up with you can't trust them no more.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Now do you feel like.
- 4:26Speaker 3: When you started becoming successful, you have to stop hanging
- 4:29Speaker 3: around like certain type of people?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, if I don't want
- 4:34Speaker 2: to go to jail, like and know, I know people
- 4:38Speaker 2: that's active. I know people that's inactive. And you know,
- 4:44Speaker 2: the more you're doing positive things and trying to, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 2: better your situation, you know, the more you have to
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know, stay away from the ones that's too active,
- 4:56Speaker 2: because you know, you end up, especially in La probably everywhere,
- 5:01Speaker 2: you know, you end up with a case just because
- 5:02Speaker 2: you know somebody. And so yeah, you know you gotta
- 5:06Speaker 2: change how you you know, how you move.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I just really respected how you transitioned and evolved as
- 5:14Speaker 1: a just as a man.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Thank you. It was very.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Inspiring just growing up as a youth.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I just saw that. Damn.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Now it's to a point where if it's an ice Cube. Anything,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna check it out, from the Big Three to
- 5:31Speaker 1: your movies, to acting you shooting the movie. I want
- 5:36Speaker 1: to check it out because your brand has evolved into
- 5:39Speaker 1: a like it's past just you as a person, it's
- 5:42Speaker 1: ice cube with the brand.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I'm glad that you know I've gotten
- 5:47Speaker 2: to that point. I've always been committed to quality. You know,
- 5:53Speaker 2: you might not like everything I do, but you're not
- 5:56Speaker 2: gonna be able to say it's trash and I just
- 5:58Speaker 2: threw it together and it's just a money grab and
- 6:01Speaker 2: Q don't care. You know, I'm always trying to give
- 6:05Speaker 2: one thousand percent into the project and make sure that
- 6:10Speaker 2: when I put something out, it's worth your time and
- 6:12Speaker 2: it's worth your money, and that is not a waste
- 6:16Speaker 2: of your time, because wasting your time is worse than
- 6:21Speaker 2: wasting your money because you can't get time back. Can't
- 6:26Speaker 2: get time back. You can only you can get the
- 6:27Speaker 2: money back, but you can't get the time back. So
- 6:30Speaker 2: you know, I think, I think because my commitment to
- 6:34Speaker 2: quality has been there with everything I do, people trust
- 6:41Speaker 2: that I'm not if I if I'm doing something that
- 6:44Speaker 2: I believe in it, and I think it's something cool
- 6:47Speaker 2: that everybody should check out and be a part of.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And so, you know, I'm glad that after all these years,
- 6:56Speaker 2: it's reverberated into Yo, the Q brand is official. If
- 7:00Speaker 2: he's stamped, I'm gonna check it out, all right, I'm
- 7:03Speaker 2: going straight for it. Are you ready? What's the best
- 7:06Speaker 2: damn Friday?
- 7:07Speaker 1: What's ice Cube's favorite Friday movie?
- 7:09Speaker 2: The first one? Of course, that's the best one. But
- 7:12Speaker 2: I think I think it's Friday after the next is Friday?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Friday after Next is a closed second. But everybody, so
- 7:20Speaker 2: you don't like next Friday, Next Friday? Next, next Friday? Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 2: Next Friday is funny. I think what happened, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 2: going through the process of each movie. With the first one,
- 7:33Speaker 2: we did what's called a negative pickup, meaning the movie
- 7:37Speaker 2: company gave us all the money up front, and we
- 7:42Speaker 2: were not upfront. But as we hit these benchmarks and
- 7:47Speaker 2: and all we needed to do was turn in a
- 7:49Speaker 2: complete movie. Uh. And that's how the first one was made.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So it was no studio execs involved in the making
- 7:57Speaker 2: of that movie, at least on set. And so with
- 8:02Speaker 2: the second one, it costs more to do it. So
- 8:08Speaker 2: now since they had more money in it. They wanted
- 8:10Speaker 2: to be more involved. No control it, but just give
- 8:15Speaker 2: these suggestions. You weren't the happiest with too, is what
- 8:18Speaker 2: you're saying. Well, I felt like I might have been
- 8:22Speaker 2: listening to too many people when you should have told
- 8:24Speaker 2: them to shut up, you know what I'm saying. But
- 8:27Speaker 2: it's a great movie. You know, we got we got
- 8:29Speaker 2: Mike Epps out of that movie, and Pinky and you
- 8:32Speaker 2: know so and uncle uncle l Roy, you know all
- 8:37Speaker 2: these you know, different characters that helped, you know, make
- 8:42Speaker 2: the franchise healthy and so, you know, I'm proud of
- 8:46Speaker 2: the movie. But I just think the first one and
- 8:49Speaker 2: the third one is you know, pretty much us without
- 8:54Speaker 2: any Sugg studio interferience.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Now I heard that that we get a new one.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah, Last Friday. What's called Last Friday.
- 9:06Speaker 2: But we'll see. It depends on, you know, how accepted
- 9:10Speaker 2: by the public. You know, we may go after that,
- 9:12Speaker 2: another one after that. You know, it's something that could
- 9:15Speaker 2: keep going. Because Friday has created its own universe. There's
- 9:20Speaker 2: always you know, the characters, you know, but also there's
- 9:23Speaker 2: always room to bring in new funny characters that you
- 9:28Speaker 2: may not know, you know, like we did with the
- 9:30Speaker 2: third one with Money Mike and Damon and yeah, Ricky Smiley.
- 9:37Speaker 2: You know it's like, so.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Who was who was actually supposed to get that role?
- 9:41Speaker 2: Which one when Kat Williams Money Mike, Yeah, well we
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know, I knew Ricky first, so I invited him
- 9:53Speaker 2: to LA to audition for a few different roles. So
- 9:57Speaker 2: it was Santa Claus, it was Money Mike might have
- 10:00Speaker 2: been one more role, and he was just a better
- 10:05Speaker 2: Santa Claus, you know in my mind when.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I but you asked him first to audition.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well, asking the audition for a few different roles, you know,
- 10:13Speaker 2: like I wouldn't. I didn't want to fly him to
- 10:15Speaker 2: LA and just have him audition one role. And that's
- 10:19Speaker 2: not unusual. You know, sometimes when it's an actor you
- 10:22Speaker 2: really wanted the movie, you'd be like, try this one,
- 10:26Speaker 2: try this one, try that one, and we see which one,
- 10:29Speaker 2: you know you're comfortable with. And what it was when
- 10:32Speaker 2: I saw Cat and I met Cat, he was he
- 10:36Speaker 2: just he was Money Mike that day one. You know,
- 10:41Speaker 2: he didn't have to act, you know, he just had
- 10:44Speaker 2: to have you know, good dialogue. And then he was
- 10:49Speaker 2: he was coming to the set with amazing adjustments and
- 10:54Speaker 2: changes to the dialogue. And you know, the more he
- 10:58Speaker 2: was getting down, the more we was giving him to do.
- 11:00Speaker 2: You know, he was like, this is our comedic goal
- 11:03Speaker 2: right here. We had a small part for him, but
- 11:06Speaker 2: by the end of the movie, as you see, you know,
- 11:09Speaker 2: he housed that whole third act and so you know
- 11:15Speaker 2: he he is money Mike, you know what I mean.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But I think you know, if we didn't find Cat
- 11:21Speaker 2: that Ricky could have played Money Mike. But Ricky was
- 11:24Speaker 2: a better Santa Claus. I think everybody at the end
- 11:28Speaker 2: of the day got the role that they should have,
- 11:31Speaker 2: and that's why the movies are so beloved.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So Ricky Smiley wasn't going to nobody hate knowing chat
- 11:38Speaker 3: or anything like not that I know.
- 11:39Speaker 2: If he didn't come to me hating, you know, I
- 11:41Speaker 2: don't know. You know, you don't know who people talk to.
- 11:44Speaker 2: But he never said nothing to me about it. He
- 11:47Speaker 2: was happy to be a part of the movie. He
- 11:51Speaker 2: was more complaining about us whooping his ass with that
- 11:53Speaker 2: Christmas tree. How many times we gotta do this? I said, Man,
- 11:58Speaker 2: we just got to get every angle now with my
- 12:01Speaker 2: ass with the Christmas tree. Nigga. So when you trying
- 12:05Speaker 2: to jump out that window. It looks real. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 2: that it's just funny.
- 12:11Speaker 3: You look like y'all was hitting for real with that
- 12:12Speaker 3: Christmas tree beating his ass.
- 12:15Speaker 2: It's a truth, you know what I mean. It's it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: like this flimsy ass christ you know, it was just
- 12:21Speaker 2: sticks and okay, now let me switch. What's your favorite
- 12:27Speaker 2: barbershop movie? Oh man, number one? So the first one?
- 12:32Speaker 2: First one, damn like to Too is great, I mean,
- 12:37Speaker 2: but my favorite is you know, to jump off.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Those are usually Now when when you're also directing and
- 12:45Speaker 1: acting in your movie, isn't that a lot for you?
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah? You do. I'm producing, okay, producing. I've directed one movie,
- 12:55Speaker 2: which is The Players Club, okay, and so my role
- 12:59Speaker 2: in that movie he wasn't that big, so it was
- 13:03Speaker 2: it wasn't as hard as I thought it was gonna be.
- 13:06Speaker 2: It's really trusting your assistant director, you know what I mean,
- 13:13Speaker 2: your first a D and if you trust him, he's
- 13:18Speaker 2: gonna tell you, hey, you should you should go shoot
- 13:20Speaker 2: that over and you know you get to when you shoot,
- 13:23Speaker 2: you can record everything so you can go back and
- 13:25Speaker 2: watch it and say, I need to do this, I
- 13:28Speaker 2: need to do that. You need to move over here,
- 13:30Speaker 2: and then you're kind of directing, and then you go
- 13:33Speaker 2: back in and get it right. Uh. So it wasn't
- 13:37Speaker 2: as difficult because I didn't have a large role. If
- 13:41Speaker 2: I was just to start a movie, it'll probably been
- 13:44Speaker 2: a little more difficult to directing that, but it's not impossible.
- 13:49Speaker 2: A lot of people do it.
- 13:51Speaker 1: When you did Triple X, yeah, that's one of my
- 13:55Speaker 1: favorite movies of all time.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Thank you. You killed that. Thank you.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you. You always wanted to ask you.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I was like that, I want to meet him, and
- 14:01Speaker 1: I want to ask him this question right here, because
- 14:05Speaker 1: you had to go after Vin Diesel. Yeah, did you
- 14:09Speaker 1: initially say no or did you be like, hell, yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that shit.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I said yeah, because you know, it's trip less, like
- 14:16Speaker 2: why not? And but I thought, you know, we could
- 14:20Speaker 2: have got a better director, and I felt like the
- 14:23Speaker 2: director was too old school and we should have had
- 14:26Speaker 2: a new, innovative director that could have did some of
- 14:31Speaker 2: the big stunts that was in the first one, like
- 14:33Speaker 2: the avalanche and all that. So I just felt like,
- 14:38Speaker 2: you know, it wasn't my movie to produce. I was
- 14:41Speaker 2: just in the movie. So I had the kind of
- 14:44Speaker 2: you know, my my man Neil Meritz, and that you
- 14:47Speaker 2: know a couple of people from you know, Joe Roff,
- 14:50Speaker 2: a couple of people at Revolution. It was their movie
- 14:54Speaker 2: that they was putting me in. So I didn't really
- 14:57Speaker 2: have the control to say, you know, this director to
- 15:01Speaker 2: old school, his his vision, his stunts, the way you
- 15:04Speaker 2: do things are are behind us and not in front
- 15:08Speaker 2: of us. And so but that was the only thing
- 15:11Speaker 2: I thought, you know, the movie could have been directed
- 15:14Speaker 2: a little better, but story wise, acting, I feel like
- 15:19Speaker 2: I did my thing.
- 15:20Speaker 3: In you Now, is there any movies that came out
- 15:25Speaker 3: that you were supposed to be in but you said no?
- 15:30Speaker 2: You know, it's it's always hard to say I was
- 15:34Speaker 2: gonna be in that. You know, people ask you sometimes
- 15:37Speaker 2: early in the process. That don't mean it's all gonna
- 15:40Speaker 2: work out. You're gonna make a deal and do the movie.
- 15:44Speaker 2: But Minister Society, they asked me to come in and
- 15:51Speaker 2: read for Old Dog and be Old Dog in that movie,
- 15:55Speaker 2: and I turned it down because I had just done
- 16:00Speaker 2: Boys in the Hood then I just don't trespassed and
- 16:04Speaker 2: these was like two hood characters, and I was like, man,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm about to be I'm about tighte cast myself as
- 16:10Speaker 2: just you know, the hood nigga.
- 16:11Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Uh, so I turned that down. They wanted me to
- 16:18Speaker 2: be Enforced Gump as the bubble shrimp Hod and I'm like,
- 16:24Speaker 2: I stick on my lips out like that, and so
- 16:31Speaker 2: passed that up. You know a few you know that,
- 16:34Speaker 2: I was like, Yo, this ain't right for me.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Now, Ice C as the father when your son played
- 16:41Speaker 1: in n w A, did he ask you for any
- 16:45Speaker 1: tips or kind of he already studied you on his own,
- 16:48Speaker 1: like how did that conversation go?
- 16:54Speaker 2: I would just tell him, you know, I wouldn't wait
- 16:56Speaker 2: for him to ASTs, you know, I would just tell him,
- 17:01Speaker 2: you know, not what to do or how to play
- 17:03Speaker 2: the part, but I would just tell him in this scene.
- 17:08Speaker 2: You know, I'm skeptical, Easy, I'm cool with Rin, me
- 17:13Speaker 2: and Dre talking about shit on the side, and I
- 17:16Speaker 2: would just set him up for my mind frame. So
- 17:20Speaker 2: when he going to those scenes, he was going into
- 17:23Speaker 2: it with you know, the right attitude, you know, so
- 17:28Speaker 2: to speak.
- 17:29Speaker 1: You know, I felt like his character was the strongest.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I mean, I liked the easiest character as well, but
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know, no one could be there. Easy, couldn't be
- 17:36Speaker 1: there to actually give him what you gave your son.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, between him and Corey Hawkers is doctor dre you know,
- 17:47Speaker 2: those three was the strongest for sure. And you know,
- 17:51Speaker 2: he did a great job. I mean, I knew he
- 17:52Speaker 2: can do it, So I wasn't surprised as far as
- 17:57Speaker 2: the look flavor, being able to rap and you know,
- 18:00Speaker 2: bring it to the stage. I had seen all. I
- 18:03Speaker 2: had seen all of that. It was just him becoming
- 18:08Speaker 2: a great actor was what he needed to do. He
- 18:12Speaker 2: needed to uh just hone in his skills and work
- 18:16Speaker 2: on being that and he did. He did the work.
- 18:20Speaker 2: You know, the coach's son got it the hardest always,
- 18:23Speaker 2: so we put him through the ring. It for like
- 18:25Speaker 2: two years. I was trying to get him to quit,
- 18:28Speaker 2: to be honest, because I felt like if he wasn't
- 18:32Speaker 2: gonna go one hundred and ten percent, then he shouldn't
- 18:38Speaker 2: do it at all because people gonna clown the hell
- 18:43Speaker 2: out you if you don't do a good job. You know,
- 18:45Speaker 2: It's like they're gonna tell you, you know, just keep
- 18:48Speaker 2: your day job and be your son and stop. You know. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 2: so I didn't want that to happen to him, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 2: we we see kind of like the the backlash that
- 19:01Speaker 2: Lebron I hate to work backlash because I ain't nobody
- 19:04Speaker 2: getting hit. But but uh, you know, b yeah, well Briannie,
- 19:08Speaker 2: you know, I think it's tough on him. So I wanted,
- 19:12Speaker 2: you know, my son to be like, hey, if you're
- 19:14Speaker 2: not gonna, if you're not gonna do what it takes
- 19:18Speaker 2: to be the best, then it's better for you. I'm
- 19:22Speaker 2: basically saving you from the humiliation of people clowning you
- 19:27Speaker 2: for not doing a great job. So but you know,
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'm proud of him because he you know, he put
- 19:34Speaker 2: it on his back. He felt like this was you know,
- 19:37Speaker 2: his family honor and uh that he was gonna, you know,
- 19:42Speaker 2: do right by his family and himself. And it's cool
- 19:45Speaker 2: because he he done carved out a career for himself
- 19:48Speaker 2: in the game.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Now, I was gonna say, we got so many things
- 19:52Speaker 1: to talk about. I know we got limited time, but
- 19:54Speaker 1: the Big Three, yeah, back three, Like, you just got
- 19:57Speaker 1: so many successful things. I don't think there's too many
- 20:00Speaker 1: people that have so many successful things. The Big Three.
- 20:03Speaker 2: This is a big deal.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I remember when it first came out, it was dope
- 20:07Speaker 1: to watch, but now it's like a required thing to watch.
- 20:11Speaker 1: People go out their way and be like I have
- 20:13Speaker 1: to go watch that. Yeah, and you're getting so many
- 20:17Speaker 1: retired dope still can hoop ball players.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and I like that.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I like how you were very vocal about, you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: the female basketball that's going on right now.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That was dope U.
- 20:32Speaker 1: But how did that happen? Like what made you say,
- 20:34Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna start a league called the Big Three?
- 20:38Speaker 2: Just a fan of hoops, you know, I'm a big
- 20:39Speaker 2: fan of basketball, and you know, after the Finals was
- 20:44Speaker 2: over and before the NFL come in, it's just that
- 20:50Speaker 2: dog days, you know, it's the days of summer sports
- 20:54Speaker 2: is not cool. It's just boring. And I was like, man,
- 20:57Speaker 2: we need something to fill this void because I feel
- 21:02Speaker 2: like this. Everybody I know feel like this. You know,
- 21:05Speaker 2: after the finals, everybody got a basketball hang over. They
- 21:08Speaker 2: want more, but it's no more. And then you gotta
- 21:10Speaker 2: wait ten twelve weeks for the NFL to start to
- 21:15Speaker 2: really start, and so you know, when there's avoid in
- 21:19Speaker 2: the industry. And then we had a good idea with Uh.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I was like three on three has been sitting there dormant,
- 21:28Speaker 2: like it's like the little cousin of five on five,
- 21:31Speaker 2: but nobody has elevated it to the pro level. And
- 21:36Speaker 2: so then you know, you start throwing ideas in the
- 21:39Speaker 2: hat pow wowing. You know what it would look like? Man,
- 21:42Speaker 2: what if we did this? Man? What if we did that?
- 21:44Speaker 2: Oh damn, that's a good idea, and you have to
- 21:46Speaker 2: work up four yeah, four four points shot. So you
- 21:51Speaker 2: start looking and he's like, man, this is not only
- 21:53Speaker 2: a good idea, this is a great idea. Like and
- 21:57Speaker 2: then you start looking at your man power and the
- 21:59Speaker 2: people around you. Do you have enough connections to bring
- 22:04Speaker 2: us to life? And the answer was yes. So now
- 22:07Speaker 2: is do you have the passion to do it? To
- 22:12Speaker 2: invent us professional sports league, you know, in the middle
- 22:17Speaker 2: of all these other huge leagues. And we was like, yeah, man,
- 22:21Speaker 2: we got the the moxie, as they say, the balls
- 22:25Speaker 2: to do it, and we fearless. So we appreciate you.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Just period.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I want to know, did you really offer Taylor and
- 22:34Speaker 3: Clark all that money?
- 22:36Speaker 2: Yeah? We did. It was a great business decision because
- 22:41Speaker 2: if you look at her impact on the game, uh,
- 22:47Speaker 2: it was huge TV ratings, sponsors were knocking her door down,
- 22:55Speaker 2: and the ticket sales went out to sold out. So
- 23:02Speaker 2: you take that same player and now you put her
- 23:05Speaker 2: as the first professional female basketball player to play, you know,
- 23:13Speaker 2: in a men's league at the highest level. Then now
- 23:19Speaker 2: it's an explosion of interests from people who can see
- 23:23Speaker 2: if they can do it. So, you know, our sponsors
- 23:26Speaker 2: was saying, if you get her, it's gonna unlock millions
- 23:32Speaker 2: of dollars in sponsorships for the league. Did she entertain it.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I believe she did, but I believe her agents were
- 23:39Speaker 2: hating on it because her agents that she has are
- 23:44Speaker 2: also NBA. They got a lot of NBA guys that
- 23:48Speaker 2: they make millions off of, and the women they don't
- 23:53Speaker 2: make that much money off of. So their agents was
- 23:58Speaker 2: probably like, yo, are we gonna make the NBA mad
- 24:02Speaker 2: and and let her plan the Big three full you know,
- 24:07Speaker 2: a little commission and possibly alienate all these you know,
- 24:13Speaker 2: these million dollar deals we got going and all these
- 24:16Speaker 2: commissions we get with the guys. So I think they
- 24:20Speaker 2: was like, man, we're not we don't care if she's
- 24:22Speaker 2: making more money. She's gonna go back to the w
- 24:24Speaker 2: n b A. We're gonna keep everybody happy. We're gonna
- 24:27Speaker 2: keep making our money from the boys and we're gonna,
- 24:30Speaker 2: you know, work to make sure that the women get
- 24:33Speaker 2: a little more money. Uh So they kind of made
- 24:37Speaker 2: a business decision and and and didn't let us speak
- 24:41Speaker 2: with her and her family because that's what we really
- 24:43Speaker 2: wanted to do, sit across the table and and give
- 24:47Speaker 2: our case on why you know, this was a huge
- 24:51Speaker 2: move for her and and and women in sports and
- 24:56Speaker 2: being paid a fair wage. And you know it didn't
- 25:02Speaker 2: work out, but that's cool. You know, it was a
- 25:04Speaker 2: real shot.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Now, when we was on the radio, we had a
- 25:08Speaker 3: segment called you know, you got me fucked up? And
- 25:11Speaker 3: you said, people who believe that you a mega supporter,
- 25:14Speaker 3: got you fucked up.
- 25:15Speaker 2: People who think I'm MAGA or Trump supporter and all that.
- 25:20Speaker 2: And I went out there and voted for for for
- 25:25Speaker 2: the Republicans and all this. Man, they got me fucked up.
- 25:29Speaker 2: You know, never said that they have no proof. I
- 25:33Speaker 2: ain't never endorsed a candidate. So you know, I just
- 25:39Speaker 2: think they got me fucked up. And it's just a
- 25:43Speaker 2: narrative that's wrong. And why do you think people believe
- 25:47Speaker 2: that you support Trump? I think because when I put
- 25:51Speaker 2: out the contract with Black America, both parties came to me.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I didn't go to them saying look what I got
- 26:00Speaker 2: and you should sit down and talk to me. Both
- 26:02Speaker 2: of them came to me and said, Yo, you got
- 26:04Speaker 2: an interesting document here. Can we discuss it with you?
- 26:08Speaker 2: And I discussed it with the Democrats disgusted with the Republicans.
- 26:14Speaker 2: And the Democrats was like, Yo, after we win, we'll
- 26:19Speaker 2: we'll deal with it. And the Republicans said, Yo, you
- 26:24Speaker 2: got some good ideas. Can we use a few of
- 26:26Speaker 2: them and put them in our plan. Now, their plan
- 26:30Speaker 2: was called the Platinum Plan. That's not my plan, that's theirs.
- 26:34Speaker 2: That was done in their own think tank and they
- 26:38Speaker 2: came up with that. Mine is called the Contract of
- 26:42Speaker 2: Black America. So they plucked a few things out of
- 26:45Speaker 2: that contract and put it in their plan. And people
- 26:48Speaker 2: are saying, that was my plan, and so they running
- 26:53Speaker 2: with it. But they don't want stupid because that's not
- 26:56Speaker 2: the truth. Once you once you are an impactful person
- 27:07Speaker 2: and you you know you talk to politicians, they will
- 27:12Speaker 2: always try to use you as a political football, correct,
- 27:15Speaker 2: And that's really what happens. Everybody want me on their team.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I mean, you're such a big deal, so I mean,
- 27:22Speaker 2: you can't blame it would be. I mean, but we
- 27:26Speaker 2: got to be smart enough to know it's a game.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You know, if y'all see me, you know, at the
- 27:32Speaker 2: conventions and on the stump, and then that's one thing.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But you know, I haven't said anything this election, not
- 27:40Speaker 2: one thing. You know, people saying I'm telling people not
- 27:43Speaker 2: to vote, that's bullshit. I never told people not to vote.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I told people you should get something for your vote.
- 27:50Speaker 2: And nothing's wrong with that. I ain't no wrong with that.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Because the Dodgers one, yeah, you're out there before.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, energy, yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 2: You know what's cool is they saying I'm the reason
- 28:02Speaker 2: why they won. You know, the players are saying this,
- 28:04Speaker 2: so hopefully you know that's cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You
- 28:10Speaker 2: know what's cinema ringe side if they want to live
- 28:15Speaker 2: one of them? These Lakers cute, you know, they they're
- 28:18Speaker 2: getting it together. New coach. Oh yeah, yeah, they got
- 28:22Speaker 2: a JJ Reddick as a new coach, and you know,
- 28:25Speaker 2: they they're figuring it out. You know, I think you know,
- 28:30Speaker 2: they they won some games that we wasn't sure they
- 28:33Speaker 2: was going to win, and they lost some games that
- 28:35Speaker 2: we thought they was going to win.
- 28:36Speaker 1: So I'm just having to carry away about to be
- 28:39Speaker 1: forty man, damn broad definitely carrying the team.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Hey that that's that is a shame. You know, they
- 28:47Speaker 2: should find players that can help him or you know,
- 28:51Speaker 2: a d is a great superstar that complimentsy. But I
- 28:55Speaker 2: think we need one more and then have Lebron just
- 28:59Speaker 2: you know, be you know, second half, fourth quarter, help
- 29:03Speaker 2: us win the game. Lebron and not you know, he
- 29:09Speaker 2: just had a triple double. Yeah, you know, he's uh,
- 29:12Speaker 2: you know, one of the best to ever do it.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Is he better than Jordan's? I don't, I don't. I
- 29:19Speaker 2: don't want to say that they played in two different eras,
- 29:23Speaker 2: you know, two different errors. You know, Jordan never faced
- 29:30Speaker 2: a zone and and Lebron never faced the Pistons, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 2: as far as he faced the new Pistons, but not
- 29:38Speaker 2: the bad boys. They can fouls and and so it's
- 29:46Speaker 2: just a different style, you know. Uh, but Kobe played
- 29:50Speaker 2: in both eras. Long lived Kobe.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Yeah, now, I got I gotta ask this question, right,
- 29:57Speaker 3: So from LA native like yourself, who are the Clippers fans?
- 30:04Speaker 2: I don't know where they come from, No disrespect though,
- 30:07Speaker 2: like I don't know where they come from.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I've never met anybody from La that's a Clippers fan.
- 30:12Speaker 2: And people be like, nah, you from l A. You
- 30:14Speaker 2: a Lakers fan. We all got that one friend or
- 30:17Speaker 2: cousin when everybody going one way, he gotta be the
- 30:22Speaker 2: only one to say, I don't want to go that way.
- 30:26Speaker 2: People being the Clippers. You know what I'm saying. You
- 30:28Speaker 2: got a lot of cousins and a lot of you know,
- 30:31Speaker 2: as friends who always go against the grain, and they
- 30:35Speaker 2: just going to the Clippers just to be disruptive and
- 30:38Speaker 2: not be Lakers fans like Kean, like the Knicks and
- 30:41Speaker 2: the Nets.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah, so damn hey man, you
- 30:49Speaker 4: know the Dippers, the Zippers, the strippers.
- 30:53Speaker 2: We don't care about that. Man. They need to go
- 30:55Speaker 2: back to San Diego and take them chargers, which oh
- 31:05Speaker 2: my god, he's gonna say the chargers, man, both the
- 31:12Speaker 2: charges start with it. You funking up l A. You know,
- 31:17Speaker 2: like your cousin who comes spend the night but don't
- 31:19Speaker 2: go home. You know, like it's a month later you're like, homie,
- 31:22Speaker 2: okay is what you're saying that Rams, But I'm a
- 31:27Speaker 2: Raider fan, got it. You know, I'm the president of
- 31:29Speaker 2: How do you feel about them moving to Vegas? I
- 31:31Speaker 2: know you don't like that. I wanted them to come
- 31:34Speaker 2: to l A. They could, you know, Oakland, they wouldn't
- 31:37Speaker 2: build them a new stadium, so I see why they left.
- 31:39Speaker 2: And you know, Vegas is actually dope. I think Vegas
- 31:42Speaker 2: and the Raiders fit a man Raiders fit of course.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I mean that's the original. Everything sounds like Warriors fan. No,
- 31:54Speaker 2: I know. I mean I don't head on the Warriors.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I don't hit on the.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Uh sacar was San Francisco Warriors, but now they're.
- 32:05Speaker 2: In No, they was the They was the Golden State
- 32:08Speaker 2: Golden State Warriors, which now California State in San Francisco. Yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 2: the in Frisco. They you know, no, they ain't the Lakers. Okay, okay,
- 32:19Speaker 2: ask you man. Yeah, yeah, I appreciate you pulling up
- 32:21Speaker 2: on us.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Man, this new music h November twenty second. Yeah, man,
- 32:26Speaker 1: damn yeah, we appreciate that. Now is now is this
- 32:30Speaker 1: your last album? We're gonna keep going until the end
- 32:33Speaker 1: of time.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I don't know what we're retirement meany Okay, yeah, it's gonna.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Get me so we can get ice Cube at seventy
- 32:41Speaker 1: dropping the project if that's ninety yeah, yeah, ice Cube
- 32:48Speaker 1: in the bedable. We show appreciate you.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Sir, appreciate you all having me anything else bt We good, Yep,
- 32:54Speaker 2: We're good. Yeah.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Ball Alert, the Malgavern and magn
