Transcript
- 0:00It sort of sparked a whole new excitement in the band.
- 0:04Not that there wasn't an excitement, but it just, like,
- 0:06makes us feel like kids again because we're like, oh, yeah, I
- 0:08remember. Like, maybe we can be crazy here
- 0:11again like we did when we did this.
- 0:12Because once you do it so long, it becomes your career.
- 0:15You forget about those risks you took back in the day.
- 0:17And now you, you, you do it again.
- 0:19You're like, oh, yeah. Like we got to this point
- 0:20because we used to take these risks, you know, like you guys
- 0:22want to open up Pandora's Box again a little bit.
- 0:31This is Justice from Ghost Cult magazine.
- 0:33Everybody. Today I'm joined by Levi Benton
- 0:35from Miss May I. The band has a bunch of exciting
- 0:38things coming up soon, including some tour dates and festival
- 0:41shows, maybe even some new music, which we'll get into that
- 0:45here in a bit. But Levi, thank you for joining
- 0:47me. How's it going?
- 0:48Good, good. It's.
- 0:49Finally sunny here so. Thank goodness I'm over in the
- 0:54Midwest. So we have about like 3 fake
- 0:56springs before it actually gets, you know, really nice.
- 0:59So totally, totally there with you.
- 1:02But like I said, you have a bunch of exciting things coming
- 1:06up here in the future. Probably first coming up for you
- 1:09is your Latin American tour dates coming up next month,
- 1:12which is super exciting. But what are you most looking
- 1:15forward to with those shows coming up?
- 1:17Oh man, Latin America is awesome.
- 1:20Because I think so we haven't been there for a very long time.
- 1:23And the biggest thing I remember last time we were there was it
- 1:26was the first time a crowd like, and probably the only time, at
- 1:30least at this volume, like they sing our guitar riffs and it was
- 1:34crazy. So I can't wait to go back
- 1:35because it's just like an entire different level of energy.
- 1:39And we're adding some extra dates and yeah, I don't know.
- 1:42It's going to be great. And there's the we might have
- 1:45some new music that we might be playing there.
- 1:47And I think it's going to be exciting to sort of tease it for
- 1:50that crowd. No, I love that.
- 1:52And I like how you mentioned that they tend to sing the
- 1:54guitar riffs as well. I also kind of wanted to ask,
- 1:57kind of going off of that, how are crowds over there maybe
- 2:01different from crowds over here in the States?
- 2:03So we're like exotic. So that's what I always tell
- 2:05everyone. It's like that.
- 2:07That's the only way to really compare it is if you're going to
- 2:10see a band that's say from Japan or Russia that only comes here
- 2:13once every five years, you're really not going to miss it and
- 2:16you're probably going to lose your mind when they come in
- 2:19town. And it's sort of like it's sort
- 2:21of the same thing. It's it's just a very special,
- 2:23it's such an elevated experience and event because we know, we
- 2:27know going into it that we're not going to be back for a long
- 2:30time. And they know as well.
- 2:32So it's just that excitement just like this is it.
- 2:34So not only is this a circle pit, but like this is got to be
- 2:38a circle pit because who knows the next time we're going to be
- 2:40back. So people lose their minds.
- 2:41It's awesome. Got to live it up while you can.
- 2:44So definitely some high energy for sure.
- 2:46Is there any? Like a Chicago, right?
- 2:49Is there any specific places over there that you're maybe
- 2:53most looking forward to checking out?
- 2:55So I became last time we were there post pandemic and being a
- 2:59dad I sort of am really enjoying cities more and just enjoying
- 3:04like traveling. Not that I didn't back in the
- 3:07day, but we were just kids and being hooligans and friends and
- 3:09I really wasn't absorbing the the city and how everything, the
- 3:15community and how the restaurants and coffee.
- 3:18And now like now that we're coffee drinkers and Elijah, our
- 3:21new guitar player, he's a huge coffee head and he's really got
- 3:24our band into it. So I cannot wait to go to Cap
- 3:28America and just blam some amazing coffee.
- 3:30I love that you bring that up. I'm going to have way too much
- 3:32coffee. No, as you should.
- 3:34As you should. A fellow coffee addict myself,
- 3:36so I totally get it. I had just seen an interview
- 3:39with you where you're actually, I think it was, it might have
- 3:41been in Australia where you're talking about the amazing coffee
- 3:44from Australia everywhere. Where is probably the best
- 3:48coffee? What's the best cup of coffee
- 3:50you've ever had from everywhere you've traveled to?
- 3:52OK, so we had this really crazy coffee.
- 3:55It's called Luloc coffee and it's it's from a LULOC, which is
- 3:59this animal and it poops out the coffee beans.
- 4:03So it's it's that's where you get the coffee.
- 4:05It has to be from that like animal.
- 4:08So we went to this luak farm that did like, we actually went
- 4:11to a place that did that. And it's awesome because the
- 4:14animal absorbs all the acid. So it's like the smoothest,
- 4:19strongest coffee. And you gonna meet the animals
- 4:22that ate it before you drink for poop water.
- 4:25So. But it was great.
- 4:26That is a good stuff. I thought you would have just
- 4:29said Australia, maybe Brazil, but no, definitely.
- 4:33I don't even know what kind of animal.
- 4:35I can't even say I've ever even seen a picture it.
- 4:37Looks like a lemur. It looks like a lemur A.
- 4:39Little bit, OK. Yeah, and they're in Asia, so it
- 4:42was actually really funny. Sorry, last little thing where
- 4:44the story is, we were trying to find it and we were all on
- 4:48mopeds like in Asia, just trying to be like, where can we find
- 4:51this coffee? And this guy meets us at this by
- 4:54on a moped and he's like, what you guys looking for?
- 4:56We're like, oh, sure, if I look place, he's like I'm going to
- 4:58work. I actually work at a lock farm.
- 5:00Follow me and we're like, this is amazing.
- 5:02So he took us straight to his farm and it was awesome.
- 5:05The universe just aligned so that could happen for you.
- 5:08That's amazing. That's right.
- 5:09And the whole band, they were all for it.
- 5:10They're like, yeah, I'm going to drink this crazy coffee.
- 5:13Yeah, well, we've heard about it.
- 5:14It's like a, if you look it up, it's like a big thing.
- 5:16It's like known to be crazy. So.
- 5:19And we're, we were in town. Might as well, you know.
- 5:21You had to, I'm going to fall down that rabbit hole after this
- 5:23interview. I'm going to Google it and and
- 5:25I'll I'll see into it. But obviously, like I'd
- 5:28mentioned earlier, you also have some festival shows coming up as
- 5:31well in the future, some pretty exciting ones.
- 5:34I had seen an interview also where you had mentioned that any
- 5:37day you prefer a festival show more than just a regular Miss
- 5:40May I show. I was wondering if that was
- 5:41still true, or maybe if that's true, why do you feel that way?
- 5:44Yeah, I like, I like the festival vibe because it's a lot
- 5:47of fans that aren't our fans and I love the challenge of trying
- 5:51to win people over. So I just, I just like the
- 5:53challenge. I love our shows obviously too.
- 5:55It's a different vibe, but the challenge of sort of the first
- 5:59song being very difficult and by the last song everyone sing
- 6:02along or jumping around or smiling.
- 6:04It's like then I've done my job and it's it's just really
- 6:06rewarding to play a festival show.
- 6:08Right, for sure. Is there any different way you
- 6:11might prepare yourself for a festival show compared to just a
- 6:14regular show? Oh, yeah, And I, I look goofy.
- 6:17Definitely learning some parts of like, you just got to watch
- 6:21where you, you learn where to ask them not to sing or like to
- 6:25be like, I'm actually going to do this tonight because they're
- 6:28not going to support me on this. And I've played many shows where
- 6:31I put the mic out. I'm like, oh, this, this nailed
- 6:33it every time. And I'm like, this is not a
- 6:34crowd. And it's just dead silent
- 6:36crickets. And I'm like, I look like an
- 6:38idiot, so I'll do it. So this learning that and sort
- 6:41of anticipating it and writing new songs for that.
- 6:45Like for instance, we have new music, we're talking about new
- 6:47singles. One of the things was to not
- 6:51have like sort of gang vocals at beginning of songs because
- 6:54playing those you're going to play it to the festival crowds
- 6:58that aren't going to know that song.
- 7:00So you sort of after this is our eighth album, so now you're
- 7:04always learning new things. That was just like we should
- 7:06probably we went down this rabbit hole before.
- 7:08Let's fix it so. I super, I know you mentioned
- 7:10new music, super excited to kind of ask about that as well, but I
- 7:14know kind of ahead of when that music might come out.
- 7:17You also have some really cool festival shows coming up and
- 7:20you're playing Louder Than Life, Welcome to Rockville, but you're
- 7:23also playing Warp Tour this year, kind of the return of Warp
- 7:27Tour coming up. And I know that festival
- 7:29specifically, it just means so much to a lot of people, a lot
- 7:31of memories from that festival for a lot of fans who've gone.
- 7:35But for somebody like yourself and Miss May I kind of veterans
- 7:39of Warp Tour, what are you most looking forward to with kind of
- 7:43returning to Warp Tour again? I I mean, I decided for the
- 7:46crazy crowd, like at the time, the Warp tour was the only place
- 7:49that sort of had those kind of crowds.
- 7:51And since Warp tours left, the radio circuit has sort of taken
- 7:55their place. So that, so I mean, I'm excited
- 7:57for the crowd, but I'm mainly excited for the the Hangouts.
- 8:00Like there's so many bands. That's what Warp Tour was all
- 8:02about, was like just the shows are great, but the hangs with
- 8:06all your friends and like the behind the scenes is awesome
- 8:08because it's not like a normal show where there's like green
- 8:11rooms and everyone's got production.
- 8:14There's this huge hierarchy and all this stuff on stage.
- 8:17It's just like a reunion and everyone's like, oh, it's your
- 8:20turn, OK, let me play real quick.
- 8:21And then you're like, I'll see you in 45 minutes and then you
- 8:24get done playing like, OK, what's up?
- 8:25Like, and then you're and you just all hang out.
- 8:28It's it's a it's a really good time.
- 8:29And it it was cool because at least for us and a lot of our
- 8:32friends, they didn't tell the bands who was on it.
- 8:36So we didn't all know unless it was word of mouth or you heard
- 8:39from a friend of a friend. So the announce was just as
- 8:42surprising for all of us. So like my phone and all these
- 8:45home, like just a bunch of homies that texted each other
- 8:47like, I can't wait. I'll see you in Long Beach or
- 8:49this is going to be awesome and we're going to do that song
- 8:51together. It's like it's, it's just so it
- 8:53was cool. I actually didn't know that.
- 8:55I feel like that would be like such AI can only imagine like
- 8:57the major Warped Tour group chat of all the bands just kind of
- 9:01coming together and like saying, oh, I'm going to see you there.
- 9:03Like I feel like that's such a cool.
- 9:04There's a, there's always been a really great sense of community
- 9:07for the fans who go, but also, like you're saying, even for the
- 9:10artists who play and get to kind of hang out and reunite every
- 9:13year like when it would happen. So very excited to see what
- 9:16memories might be made at this. Not to sound cheesy or anything.
- 9:22No, it'll be an awesome like for like, like the Road the Warp
- 9:24tour got announced a few days ago and I don't think telly from
- 9:27Border Live was thinking about it, but he's like, we're gonna,
- 9:29he's like we're singing 2012 together.
- 9:31It was gonna be awesome. But that was like a text I got
- 9:33the same day to announce. And so it's like, yeah, things
- 9:36like that do happen. It's cool, yeah.
- 9:38Sorry, yeah, no, you're good. But it has been.
- 9:41I know this is kind of almost like a return of Warp Tour in a
- 9:44sense, but how do you think you played 2011, 2012, 2015 I
- 9:49believe if I did my research right, but how do you think this
- 9:52Warp Tour now might be different compared to when you played Warp
- 9:56Tour maybe 10 or so years ago? I think we're, at least for us,
- 10:01our performance is more performance based and not just
- 10:05being loud and crazy. So I mean, I think, and I think
- 10:08a lot of bands like, I don't know, it's just so different.
- 10:11It's, I think the performance is going to be a lot different
- 10:14because everyone has learned a lot and all the upcoming bands
- 10:18are so advanced to where upcoming bands were 10 years
- 10:22ago. So I think the performances are
- 10:24just going to, I feel like it's going to be the same vibe, but
- 10:26we're just, we're just an elevated experience.
- 10:29Sort of like it almost reminds me like Warped Tour meets like a
- 10:32Coachella or like a like a riot fest.
- 10:36Because I feel like those everybody is sort of getting
- 10:38better as musicians, like even bands that are starting out
- 10:41today. It's just the the the starting
- 10:44point has moved significantly and I think that's going to be
- 10:47really cool for Warp Tour because it's only been known as
- 10:50like ruckus and craziness and now everyone's really honed in
- 10:53on the craft. So I think it's going to be a
- 10:55really a cool experience. No, for sure, I'm excited to
- 10:57see, especially like you mentioned, even like the kind of
- 11:00more advanced up and coming bands.
- 11:02I'm excited to see what they do at the these upcoming Warp tour
- 11:06shows. Are there any specific kind of
- 11:08up and comers that you're excited to see or that have been
- 11:10kind of on your radar? I'm excited to see Scowl.
- 11:14Yeah, I'm just obsessed with them.
- 11:16I think they're going to be really, really cool to see.
- 11:18And yeah, just a bunch of friends.
- 11:21I don't know, I really haven't looked at the lineup because I
- 11:23feel like I'm just going to try to get lost and walk around.
- 11:26Yeah, I was even like that when we played Warp Tour.
- 11:28I never really paid attention to the lineup because I discovered
- 11:31bands because I would just like put my backpack on and put a hat
- 11:33on. And after we played, I would
- 11:35just put sunglasses on and walk around and just go to Warp Tour
- 11:38for the day. And I'm like, oh, this band's
- 11:39pretty cool. And I'm like, I'll hang out with
- 11:40them or I've seen them around. I'll say hey, and I'll be like
- 11:43good set yesterday. So it's like it's nice to
- 11:45organically sort of discover the bands too.
- 11:47Also, if you've been to the Warp Tour, I don't want to get
- 11:50invested in the band because trying to catch everybody on a
- 11:53random crazy lineup, I don't wanna get my heart, my heart
- 11:58broken. So I just.
- 11:59I'm gonna organically find them, yeah.
- 12:01Right. Just let everything happen as it
- 12:03should. Almost don't plan too much when
- 12:05it comes to work for. But I love that you mentioned
- 12:07scowl. I feel like they're kind of one
- 12:09of my favorite. They were just on the late.
- 12:11It's crazy. Last night, yeah, it was so
- 12:14cool. I'm glad to see that kind of
- 12:16more alternative groups are kind of getting more of a spotlight
- 12:19with late night TV and kind of more mainstream media.
- 12:22But no, had to rant about scowl there for a little bit.
- 12:25I know kind of looking back on Warp tour.
- 12:27Speaking of the history of the band, I know last year you also
- 12:30all put out a 15 year anniversary re recording of your
- 12:33famous album Apologies Are for the week, which I feel like a
- 12:35lot of people were very excited for.
- 12:38But after all this time, like, how does it feel to kind of
- 12:41revisit that album and to realizing how far you've come as
- 12:45a band after all these years? It was really cool.
- 12:48It was it was refreshing because you sort of forget, I don't
- 12:51know, just just that feeling of that of the adolescence and
- 12:55where you were starting the band because we are not to write
- 12:59songs. So it was really cool to go back
- 13:00to do that because after that album we started on the
- 13:03producers and we're like, oh, we have to really like do this,
- 13:07that first album, just like pretty much our demos with like
- 13:10a couple songs we wrote with the producer sprinkled in there, but
- 13:13we didn't know how to write songs.
- 13:14So we showed up and we're just like, this is what we got.
- 13:16And it was cool to go back because I'm like, what the hell
- 13:18was I thinking doing this? And like, because we had to do
- 13:21word for word, line for line and even the like, it was Eliza, our
- 13:24new guitar player's intro to the band.
- 13:27So it was funny because we're like, hey, we know you joined
- 13:30the band, but actually the first assignment is to play nothing
- 13:34like we play now. And we're going to just put a
- 13:36blender on all the riffs and just figure it out.
- 13:38And that's like, everyone. So it was a cool, like, boot
- 13:41camp. Yeah.
- 13:43It sort of sparked a whole new excitement in the band.
- 13:47Not that there wasn't an excitement, but it just, like,
- 13:50makes us feel like kids again because we're like, oh, yeah.
- 13:52Remember. Like, maybe we can be crazy here
- 13:54again, like we did when we did this.
- 13:56Because once you do it so long, it becomes your career.
- 13:58You forget about those risks you took back in the day.
- 14:00And now you you do it again. You're like, oh, yeah.
- 14:03Like we got to this point because we used to take these
- 14:05risks, you know, like you guys want to open up Pandora Box
- 14:07again a little bit, be weird. So it was.
- 14:09It was refreshing. No, I love that.
- 14:11It is kind of cool to see like almost go back to your roots a
- 14:14little bit and see like what you can do different or what you can
- 14:16kind of go back to. I know you mentioned kind of
- 14:20lash or last year kind of marked almost a new era for the band
- 14:23with revisiting that album and then also setting onto a
- 14:25different label. But and then you mentioned
- 14:28revisiting this kind of famous album that you all put out, but
- 14:32I believe is almost like 17 years ago or so when the band
- 14:36first formed and you first started.
- 14:38In what ways is the band different now compared to when
- 14:41you all first started, when you all were still in high school?
- 14:44It's, it's really cool. Jared and I, we were just
- 14:47together for a few weeks, all of us in the studio.
- 14:51So we were just all hanging out recently and like living
- 14:53together. And Jared and I were just
- 14:55actually talking about this because him and I are the oldest
- 14:58members because we were like started the band and stole Ryan
- 15:02from other local bands because he was great.
- 15:04But the band, our band was also like a big enough local band by
- 15:07the time we got Ryan. So that was like, we're already
- 15:09like not established, but the thing And then Elijah just came
- 15:11on the last few years. So but me and Jared actually
- 15:14were just talking about this because we still do it and
- 15:17everything has been like an accident and just sort of has
- 15:19happened. We're like, remember, we're just
- 15:21like, we just always like whisper each other days.
- 15:23Like we're still just screwing around.
- 15:25And it's like really people are taking this seriously.
- 15:28We're like, this is crazy because to us we're just a band
- 15:31of friends. Like Ryan joined a band.
- 15:34Like their perspective is just different because they joined an
- 15:37established band. Jared and I started.
- 15:39This band is like messing around and it's cool because I still
- 15:41feel that like we just played not Fest.
- 15:43It was one of our biggest festival shows, one of the first
- 15:46days with like 22,000. It was just insane.
- 15:49And then like we're like laughing before we go up there
- 15:51because everyone's taking us so serious, which like we take it
- 15:54seriously, but we're like this is and our families are there
- 15:57and all this. We flew into Australia.
- 15:58We're just like, this is just insane.
- 16:00We're like, look how far it's taken us.
- 16:02So I think, I think that's like, I don't think that's that's
- 16:06changed. And that's like sort of what's
- 16:07been a part of our band since the beginning is that we just
- 16:10love what we do because we've also done tours and had our ups
- 16:13and downs where we've done tours for free, but we still pretty
- 16:16much like or like lost money doing tours and you're just
- 16:18like, we still show up because we just love what we do.
- 16:20And I think that's like the core.
- 16:22And I think people know that like especially our long time
- 16:24fans because they've seen us ups and downs, got coffee with us,
- 16:28hang out with us before or after the shows, Like we're we're just
- 16:31dudes and we're just stoked to be hanging.
- 16:33So long answer. No, no, love me a long answer.
- 16:37It's fine, but I love that you mentioned just all these
- 16:40different things about just not taking yourself too seriously
- 16:44because I feel like when the band is all just having fun on
- 16:46stage after all these years, I feel like from a listener, from
- 16:49a fan's point of view, I feel like that's just so obvious to
- 16:51see when a band is having a great time.
- 16:54But kind of going off of that, again, the band has been around
- 16:57for so long. What do you think the key is for
- 17:00longevity or just sticking through it the whole time?
- 17:02Especially, like you say, the band has had its kind of up and
- 17:05down moments, Like what's the key to just kind of sticking
- 17:08through it? I think the key is just like
- 17:10being in it for the right reasons and sort of always
- 17:12remembering why you joined the band.
- 17:14Because I, I'm not saying it's for every case, because there's
- 17:17bands that are like super bands that are built to be successful
- 17:20businesses and like huge mega bands like, and those are
- 17:23different obviously vibes. But for our I, I just, I guess
- 17:26just remember that, like when it gets hard, remember why you
- 17:29joined the band. And, and hopefully that's like
- 17:31the same principle. Like ours was to hang out with
- 17:34my friends. And if I, I think if it wasn't
- 17:36three of my friends that I was out on tour with, I wouldn't be
- 17:39leaving and go in doing the stuff.
- 17:41Like I, I love it because I'm hanging out with my friends.
- 17:43The show is just like the, the cherry on top of the end of the
- 17:46day because we all, even our crew, like it's all friends.
- 17:49Like we're all so excited, like our first day of rehearsals and
- 17:52stuff. We're all like, because now we
- 17:53have families and we all live in different States and life is
- 17:56just crazy. So when we get to do it, it's
- 17:58like a big family reunion and we all get that like have a hug and
- 18:01hang out. But that's like why we started
- 18:02it and now. And it's cool because it's also
- 18:05work. So we see work as like a huge.
- 18:08It's just, yeah, we're just very thankful that we get to go to
- 18:11work and remember that it's the same feeling as when we were
- 18:15fourteen in the basement and now we're just still doing it.
- 18:18We've actually been doing it longer than we haven't been
- 18:20doing it, which is a weird feeling.
- 18:22I'm sure that's probably crazy to realize, but it definitely
- 18:26doesn't hurt when your job is touring around the world in a
- 18:29rock band with your friends. I'm sure that's kind of probably
- 18:31a great life to. Yeah, well, that's why.
- 18:34And you have to, like I said, like when we're having downs and
- 18:37stuff, you have to still remember that, you know what I
- 18:38mean? Like when it's a crappy day,
- 18:40you're like, it's not that crappy.
- 18:41You're like, it's still pretty cool, right?
- 18:44And we'll, we'll, we'll get through this or like, let's put
- 18:46our heads together and like, remember, maybe we need to go
- 18:48back to the basics, you know? So just yeah, as long as you're
- 18:52like a good group and there's, yeah, there's so many different
- 18:55ways. I've met so many bands along the
- 18:57road that have their own sort of lore and story and their own
- 19:01idea of that. But that's ours.
- 19:03No, for sure. And also kind of going off of
- 19:06that, especially, I feel like the band has done so much, done
- 19:11so many different things throughout their years,
- 19:13throughout your years as a band. But at this point, is there
- 19:15anything still, like do you have any bucket list items or goals
- 19:19that you still have, like maybe things for the band that you'd
- 19:21love to do that you just kind of haven't crossed off your list
- 19:23yet? Oh man, umm, I really want Pyro.
- 19:27We've never had a show with Pyro.
- 19:28OK, I really want some explosions.
- 19:30I would like some explode. We're close.
- 19:32We're like this close, but I really want some explosions.
- 19:36I think the fans would like. That Alaska, yeah, I write in my
- 19:39mind when I close my eyes and I'm on stage, there is pyro,
- 19:42right? It's not really there, right.
- 19:45And then yeah, Hawaii and Alaska has always been on my list.
- 19:48We've like done. We've been touring so long we
- 19:51just haven't hit there and then yeah, I think that's where my
- 19:55pyro is a big one. I just and I always get teased.
- 19:58It'll be like on stage and I'm like, we can't have it till 7:00
- 20:01PM And I'm like son of A and I'm like, why can't we turn it on?
- 20:05So yeah, that's my big truth. Hopefully the albums and why I
- 20:09always joke with the our drummer wants a bigger drummerizer and
- 20:12we I want pyro. So every time we have a song
- 20:15that's like in the studio, we're like, this is the one our like
- 20:18Ryan is not the realist and he's like.
- 20:20Don't get your hopes up, guys, don't get your hopes up.
- 20:22But I'm like, this is the pyro song.
- 20:24This will get us to the next level.
- 20:26If you just keep saying it out loud, if you just keep
- 20:28manifesting it, I mean, it's gonna stand.
- 20:30It. Yeah, see, that's what I'm
- 20:32saying. Yeah, it'll happen eventually.
- 20:34It has to. Are there any certain?
- 20:37I know some bands are so known for their use of pyro on stage.
- 20:40Or are there any bands that kind of inspire you in that sense or?
- 20:43Oh, Parkway for sure. I think Parkway, yeah, well,
- 20:48Parkway and Avenged Stemfold, because we've with both of them
- 20:51a lot and they both do it differently.
- 20:53And I think like, I would love to have like a cross between
- 20:55those because Avenged does it for Skinky and aesthetic, Pkwy
- 20:59does it for the wow factor. They're just like just trying to
- 21:02blow shit up. No, for sure, which again, for
- 21:05as a fan, from a fan point of view, I feel like we always
- 21:08appreciate a little fire a little.
- 21:09Pirate guitar solo and fire. Come on.
- 21:12Absolutely. That's my 14 year old dream.
- 21:15Exactly. Like just let me get the last
- 21:18little thing, that's all. We can do the fire and then like
- 21:21we will ask for nothing else. Like that's that's all our last
- 21:24little thing. I know we we've been kind of
- 21:28talking about it, but I know you mentioned new music is on the
- 21:30way. I think I saw an interview where
- 21:32you even said a new album is pretty much done.
- 21:34But without giving too much away, what can we kind of expect
- 21:38in that sense in the future? What's that kind of What's
- 21:40Future Music looking like for Miss May I?
- 21:42It's coming out really cool. It's it is.
- 21:46It's the first time we're riding as a new lineup and I think it's
- 21:51brought a lot of spiciness to the band that I think people
- 21:54will like. And there's just so much dynamic
- 21:56in between the songs because not only is there a new line up, but
- 22:00like Ryan is also writing a lot more.
- 22:03And yeah, we're all for writing a lot more.
- 22:05We've always all for Rope. But now because we have so much
- 22:09time in between tours and we have so much home time, we have
- 22:11home setups and home studio setups.
- 22:13So everyone's it's now a blender of just riffs and then we all
- 22:16get together because Elijah, our new guitar player, he has the
- 22:21Armory, which is his studio out in Cape Gerardo.
- 22:24We use his studio now. So it's cool because now we have
- 22:26that in house. So every instead of us like
- 22:28flying and only having a month to do an album, we've been doing
- 22:31it in like when we're ready. So it's been very on our time.
- 22:36And when it feels right, it doesn't feel rushed and it's
- 22:39coming out so awesome. So I'm very excited for yeah,
- 22:42I'm excited for it to come out and I'm excited for just to be
- 22:45something new for fans. It's our eighth album, so just
- 22:48there is some new ingredients and I think everyone can hear
- 22:50it. So it's going.
- 22:51To be cool? No, I'm very excited.
- 22:53I think a lot of other fans would be excited too to see
- 22:55whenever that comes out in the future.
- 22:57But very glad to hear that. Also, you're very much looking
- 23:00forward to a bunch of new stuff featured on the album as well.
- 23:03But I think with that, that was kind of all the questions that I
- 23:05had for you. But was there any final thoughts
- 23:07or anything else you wanted to add that maybe we didn't touch
- 23:10on? No.
- 23:11When's this come out? Do you know when this comes out?
- 23:13I do not. I do not soon.
- 23:15I think it comes out before Wednesday of next week.
- 23:18Probably not that soon. I don't know.
- 23:20I wish I knew. I don't have the answer.
- 23:22OK, no worries. I was gonna say we have a tour
- 23:24we're announcing on Wednesday, but OK, so, but it was just a
- 23:28yeah, no worries, I'm not gonna say anything.
- 23:30That's it. Right.
- 23:31We won't, we won't talk about it probably off the record.
- 23:33Where would where is the what tour is being announced?
- 23:36It's it's on the way to work tour, the first work tour day.
- 23:39It's us with Gideon. It's a headliner.
- 23:42It's us with Gideon. And I'm the worst because I
- 23:45don't have a whole line up on my I'm going to tell you in 2
- 23:48seconds, idiot and. Too much to memorize all the
- 23:52time anyway. No, it's just because it changed
- 23:54so many times. I don't want to tell you the
- 23:55wrong thing. Oh, right, right.
- 23:56OK, here it is. Gideon Dream Wake.
- 23:59OK, OK. And is that AUS tour you said?
- 24:02OK, cool. What'd you guys have?
- 24:03From Canada. OK, cool.
- 24:05And like, yeah, I don't know if this will come out like when
- 24:07that's announced, but we have the inside scoop now, so.
- 24:10Exactly, Yeah. But no, like once again, that
- 24:13was all I had for you. But thank you so much for taking
- 24:15the time is super cool chatting with you today.
- 24:18So thank you so much. I appreciate it.
- 24:20Anytime was there. Nice to meet you.
- 24:21Thank you for having me. Yeah, you too.
- 24:22Thank you so much and good luck with all this exciting stuff
- 24:25coming up. Super cool for all of you.
- 24:27So good luck with everything. Awesome.
- 24:29Thank you.
