- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: from Long Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and today we are going to be discussing a New
- 0:22Speaker 1: Year's resolution. Part of the New Year new movies lineup
- 0:27Speaker 1: from Hallmark Channel and really quickly. Where you can find
- 0:33Speaker 1: more from Wendy and I is. The best place to
- 0:36Speaker 1: find us is our website, which is Megan and Wendy
- 0:39Speaker 1: dot com. You'll find all of our podcast show notes
- 0:41Speaker 1: there as well as links to everywhere else you can
- 0:44Speaker 1: find us all over the internet. And today we are
- 0:48Speaker 1: super excited to have a guest with us. We would
- 0:51Speaker 1: like to introduce Calli from Hallmarks the Spot on Instagram,
- 0:55Speaker 1: a fellow Hallmark movie fan. Thank you so much for
- 0:58Speaker 1: being here with us.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Thank you guys for having me. I'm really excited to
- 1:03Speaker 2: talk about this movie.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Tell us a little bit about how you got into
- 1:08Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie reviewing and chatting.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Okay, Well, my family and I we used to spend
- 1:16Speaker 2: Christmases in a little hotel in mine in North Dakota,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and we would just watch these all all day long
- 1:26Speaker 2: because what else was there to do? And so we
- 1:29Speaker 2: just it kind of became a family tradition of us
- 1:32Speaker 2: trying to catch them all. And a few years ago
- 1:35Speaker 2: my husband was like, you should just write about these
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'm tired of hearing you talk about them. So last
- 1:45Speaker 2: so Christmas twenty nineteen, I decided to do a little
- 1:50Speaker 2: blog and recap and or recap blog and just kind
- 1:55Speaker 2: of you know, added an Instagram account to it and
- 1:57Speaker 2: just you know, picked it up again this last year.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And it's just been so fun. It's you know, I'm
- 2:03Speaker 2: watching the movies anyways, I've found in this little community
- 2:07Speaker 2: a lot of people, you know, find the movies as
- 2:12Speaker 2: amusing as I do, as you know, like to poke
- 2:15Speaker 2: a little bit of fun, but you know, everyone just
- 2:17Speaker 2: really loves the the culture of these movies, I guess. So, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 2: it's been it's been fun to kind of do it
- 2:24Speaker 2: a little bit, do a little bit more than just
- 2:26Speaker 2: watch the movies. Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I think I'm coming from a similar place in that.
- 2:29Speaker 1: This is Megan. The Hallmark movies were something I did
- 2:33Speaker 1: every year. My husband enjoys them as well. But Wendy
- 2:38Speaker 1: the Hallmark Christmas Movies last year was her very first
- 2:41Speaker 1: Hallmark movie. She had never watched one.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's crazy, wild I don't know how you miss them.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's just not my thing at all. But that's what's fun.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Like you said about like doing a recap is especially
- 2:56Speaker 3: coming from a place of like not understanding the culture
- 3:00Speaker 3: it is. I have a fun time poking jokes at
- 3:04Speaker 3: it while while we watch it.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But yes, yeah, one thing I've been trying to break
- 3:09Speaker 1: Wendy of is her desire to treat them like a
- 3:12Speaker 1: real movie because it's a completely different category. It's all
- 3:16Speaker 1: on its own, so it.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Is totally its own type of movie, and you have to, yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 2: accept them for what they are. Yeah, other way she'd
- 3:23Speaker 2: go crazy. Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So this week's movie is a new Year's resolution, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: Wendy's going to read our synopsis I will.
- 3:32Speaker 3: This is from the official Horror mark channel dot com site.
- 3:37Speaker 3: A New Year's resolution. When a morning show producer makes
- 3:40Speaker 3: a new Year's resolution to say yes more, she crosses
- 3:43Speaker 3: paths with a confirmed yes man who just might hold
- 3:47Speaker 3: the key to her biggest story and to her heart.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Starring Amy T. Garden and Michael Raddy.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So I have two and a half pages worth of
- 3:57Speaker 1: type wow notes on this movie. Type so I have
- 4:01Speaker 1: so much to say.
- 4:02Speaker 2: But me too, I'm so glad to hear you.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Say, let's start right up top and let's just talk
- 4:10Speaker 1: a little bit about the movie itself and the actors. Now, Kelly,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you pointed out something which neither of us knew prior
- 4:17Speaker 1: to this, about the original proposed air date for this movie. Yes,
- 4:24Speaker 1: so it was supposed to air last year, and yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: mysteriously pulled from the schedule.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it was in the twenty nineteen Christmas lineup. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: think it was supposed to air on the twenty eighth,
- 4:35Speaker 2: so it had been like that perfect transition from Christmas
- 4:39Speaker 2: to Winterfest and then I think it was literally on
- 4:43Speaker 2: the website even it just pulled, And then I think
- 4:46Speaker 2: I saw I tried to do a little bit more
- 4:48Speaker 2: research because I remember hearing that, and a couple I
- 4:51Speaker 2: think Michael Brady or Raddy had did an interview a
- 4:55Speaker 2: few months later, no explanation, and then it just appeared
- 4:59Speaker 2: in the middle of New Year New Movies. So I
- 5:02Speaker 2: guess Hollwork does that from time to time. But yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 2: it's funny to think about it in terms of being
- 5:07Speaker 2: a twenty nineteen New Year's movie now, but.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Right it doesn't have the twenty twenty stain on it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Without knowing what was coming, right.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Well, and it was funny because when you mentioned that,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I did a little Google search about this movie, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: there's a whole not a very long one, but there's
- 5:25Speaker 1: a Reddit thread about what happened to this movie, which
- 5:28Speaker 1: I found highly amusing. I mean, the redditors were very
- 5:32Speaker 1: upset wondering what had happened, and I think the answer
- 5:34Speaker 1: is we will never know because there was never an
- 5:36Speaker 1: answer given. But I am glad it was released, it
- 5:41Speaker 1: was filmed, as many of these movies are in Canada, Winnipeg,
- 5:46Speaker 1: Manitoba specifically. Now the actors in this movie. Wendy pointed
- 5:51Speaker 1: out last week that the main actress, Amy T. Garden
- 5:56Speaker 1: started Friday Night Lights, which as soon as I saw
- 5:58Speaker 1: her and she said that, I realized I really liked
- 6:02Speaker 1: her in this.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah what what?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Okay, Well, hold on there yet? We are at there yet?
- 6:11Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Okay, let us Oh, with that being said,
- 6:19Speaker 1: let us go to our first brief overall impression of
- 6:22Speaker 1: the movie. Wendy, I am so nervous to hear you.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I hated it. I hated it so much like I
- 6:34Speaker 3: was mad watching it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Okay, Cally, Okay, you know, well, I didn't hate it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think that was gonna be my my hot take
- 6:45Speaker 2: for this was that I didn't hate it. I thought
- 6:48Speaker 2: it was perfectly enjoyable. But like you, I have quite
- 6:52Speaker 2: a few notes.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Well and personally compare. We really liked last week's movie
- 6:58Speaker 1: Taking a Shit You Love. I really enjoyed that, So
- 7:02Speaker 1: comparing these two movies side by side, this was not
- 7:05Speaker 1: as good. But the actors. I loved both Amy T.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Garden and Michael Rady in this movie very much, and
- 7:12Speaker 1: they made the movie enjoyable for me. I cannot believe
- 7:16Speaker 1: what you're doing to me right now.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It hurts.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm sorry, that's so funny.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Okay, well, this may be a short section for you,
- 7:25Speaker 1: because let's move into what we liked about this movie
- 7:27Speaker 1: and believe it or not. I have notes a through.
- 7:30Speaker 3: G Wow, okay, I only have one small note.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, tell me what one thing you liked
- 7:39Speaker 1: about this movie? Okay?
- 7:41Speaker 3: I like the lead actor Michael. Is it Raddy or
- 7:45Speaker 3: how do we side all?
- 7:46Speaker 1: I know in my mind I was saying Rady. I
- 7:48Speaker 1: don't know the answer, Ratty.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think it's I say. I've been saying Rady in
- 7:52Speaker 2: my head too.
- 7:52Speaker 3: So yeahdy, Okay, So I liked him. I thought he
- 7:55Speaker 3: was relatable in a like a dorky, handsome kind of way,
- 8:00Speaker 3: and I would watch another movie if he was in it.
- 8:05Speaker 3: But yeah, that's about it. That's all I liked.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Okay, Well, one thing I loved like taking a shot
- 8:15Speaker 1: at Love. I'm really enjoying the visuals of these winter movies.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I like the transition from Christmas to winter. It's Chris,
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's cool. It feels very relaxing to look at. And
- 8:28Speaker 1: I like that this one felt like it was very
- 8:30Speaker 1: clearly shot in winter, like you could see their breath outside.
- 8:33Speaker 1: There was no like filming a ninety degree weather with
- 8:36Speaker 1: a code on. So I very much enjoyed that. Kellie.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Did you have anything you liked about this movie?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah? So, I also I like pretty much every Michael
- 8:46Speaker 2: Rady movie. The one he did, the Christmas Bow from
- 8:49Speaker 2: this year was one of my favorites, and then Two
- 8:52Speaker 2: Turtle Doves from last year was another. It's probably one
- 8:56Speaker 2: of my favorites from that season. So I like him.
- 8:59Speaker 2: He's funny in this movie. There was two specific things
- 9:04Speaker 2: that he or that little bits that they did in
- 9:07Speaker 2: this movie that I liked. When her friends are kind
- 9:10Speaker 2: of like trying to talk her into something. They will
- 9:13Speaker 2: like guess her middle name. They're like, helly Ezekiel whatever,
- 9:17Speaker 2: and she's like, that's not my middle name. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Did we ever get any closure on that? I noticed
- 9:23Speaker 1: it and then didn't pay attention to if they ever
- 9:25Speaker 1: brought it up.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I don't think they found it. They did it a
- 9:28Speaker 2: couple of times, and I like that. I liked her
- 9:32Speaker 2: trying curling too. I thought that was kind of cute her,
- 9:34Speaker 2: you know, such a Canadian sport to throw into this movie.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So yeah, But and then I also too, I think
- 9:42Speaker 2: the Winter movies are just they're just beautiful winter movies
- 9:46Speaker 2: and they're not bogged down by all the like the
- 9:49Speaker 2: things that you have to get through in a homemark
- 9:51Speaker 2: Christmas movie. So they're just winter fields. I just I
- 9:55Speaker 2: really like that about these movies too.
- 9:58Speaker 1: What about the board game bar, Wendy, did you not
- 10:00Speaker 1: love the board game Bar?
- 10:01Speaker 2: Well?
- 10:02Speaker 3: I think we can open that in our small town
- 10:05Speaker 3: Hallmark movie.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That we want.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yes, I did think that was kind of fun and cool.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yes, I like that too. There's a place like that
- 10:14Speaker 2: in Washington, d C. But you can like order pizza
- 10:17Speaker 2: and have it brought to I think it's a like
- 10:20Speaker 2: an actual bar, but they don't serve food. So yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it was cool to see that concept in this town.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, my husband watched this movie with me, and there's
- 10:29Speaker 1: a place in New York called Barcade, which is bar
- 10:32Speaker 1: like filled with an arcade, and he was like, Oh,
- 10:34Speaker 1: they could exist side by side. I also loved her
- 10:38Speaker 1: Gatsby dress.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That was cute.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Shedy, No, she looked beautiful. Yeah, but I cringed when
- 10:45Speaker 3: they were like dancing.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Well, and they're dancing doesn't match the tempo of the
- 10:50Speaker 1: music because you know, they're not dancing the actual music,
- 10:52Speaker 1: So that was a little I just ignored that part,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but I thought she was adorable.
- 10:56Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Okay, next section, this is when his favorite section. This
- 11:00Speaker 1: is the uh oh section, which we know the roadblocks
- 11:04Speaker 1: placed in the way of our movie couple. Wendy, do
- 11:07Speaker 1: you have something you'd like to add here?
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yes, so, uh when they first started discussing Chicago, I
- 11:14Speaker 3: was like, Oh, what's the big secret with Chicago? Uh oh,
- 11:17Speaker 3: We're going to have a roadblock. But it didn't really
- 11:20Speaker 3: turn out to be. I mean, obviously at the end,
- 11:23Speaker 3: like they both go to Chicago spoiler alert. But his
- 11:27Speaker 3: like reason why he didn't want to talk about Chicago
- 11:31Speaker 3: wasn't really like significant to the stories.
- 11:33Speaker 2: It was so underwhelming when he finally revealed why he
- 11:37Speaker 2: didn't want to go to Chicago. It's like, you're going
- 11:39Speaker 2: to wait four dates and then it's just you don't
- 11:41Speaker 2: want to leave your family.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It was so underwhelming that I don't even remember the
- 11:45Speaker 3: reason right now.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like I kind of was I kind
- 11:49Speaker 2: of zoned out because I was bored by their like dialogue.
- 11:52Speaker 2: But I think the gist was he had his family
- 11:55Speaker 2: in this town in Wisconsin and didn't want to leave them.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So yeah, that, well, that's not for me.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Another roadblock is Kelly is investigating a big story and
- 12:10Speaker 1: oh it's about the bank where Tom works. Okay, there's
- 12:14Speaker 1: also one more in that he doesn't want to ask
- 12:16Speaker 1: her out because oh, she'll be forced to say yes
- 12:20Speaker 1: because of our New Year's resolution.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Okay, I thought that was kind of cute that part there. Well,
- 12:28Speaker 3: I'm just saying I found him very charming, So yes, yes,
- 12:32Speaker 3: so I thought that was like kind of funny.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Listen to your voice, you're very very grudgingly giving this
- 12:39Speaker 1: movie that credit for that moment.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Will just wait till we get to the wished for part.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I know it's there, Kelly. Do you have anything else
- 12:47Speaker 1: to go in the room.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Well, I was gonna I was going to add a
- 12:49Speaker 2: couple of things. Well, their jam packed schedules when they're
- 12:53Speaker 2: trying to like find time, they were just you know,
- 12:57Speaker 2: every night they've both got something going on. And then
- 13:01Speaker 2: she seems determined to not make this work. She's very
- 13:05Speaker 2: pessimistic about the relationship, so she's trying to get rid
- 13:08Speaker 2: of him at almost every turn, even after she gives
- 13:11Speaker 2: him her phone number.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and she tries to say, like, this isn't gonna work,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and he's like, I think you're being a little ridiculous.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Let's not create a problem or one doesn't exist. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: did appreciate though, that they call her a pessimist and
- 13:25Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, I'm a realist, which, if you know
- 13:27Speaker 1: Wendy and I, I claim to be a realist when
- 13:31Speaker 1: in fact, perhaps I am a little bit of a pessimist.
- 13:33Speaker 2: But it's like an optimistic version of orn optimistic spin
- 13:37Speaker 2: on pessimy.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, Okay, I'm going to give you your time to shine.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Wendy let's start with what you wished for.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Okay, So I wish for a better lead in this film.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So sad you didn't like her.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I thought she was such a Debbie downer and she
- 13:59Speaker 3: didn't have the same energy as the other actor she
- 14:04Speaker 3: was playing off of. And on top of that, the
- 14:08Speaker 3: vocal fry about killed me. I could not stand her.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I loved her as Julie Taylor on Friday Night Lights.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I've never seen her in anything else. I thought she
- 14:20Speaker 3: was horrible in this movie. And maybe it's not her
- 14:24Speaker 3: as an actress, it just was the character that she
- 14:27Speaker 3: played like it was so.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Soul sucking to me. I think I really related to her,
- 14:36Speaker 1: not in her like success at all costs, but in
- 14:39Speaker 1: her like wanting to say no to things all the time.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So I enjoyed her, although I never would have made
- 14:47Speaker 1: this resolution.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Ever, Well, it's funny because I have a similar resolution
- 14:51Speaker 3: for this year or so. I kind of like got
- 14:53Speaker 3: a good chuckle at that, But like, mine doesn't include
- 14:56Speaker 3: like plunging into icy cold water and doing anything that
- 15:00Speaker 3: I'm afraid of.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I just.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, here's another thing. I really hated that her
- 15:07Speaker 3: friends made her feel guilty for having a demanding job.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, those are some shitty.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Friends, Like they should be understanding at least, but like
- 15:17Speaker 3: they were making her apologize for like bowing out of
- 15:20Speaker 3: things because she had such a demanding job. I mean,
- 15:23Speaker 3: I don't know the work of a producer. Do they
- 15:25Speaker 3: work on Christmas Eve until a wee hours of the night?
- 15:28Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 15:29Speaker 3: But I just thought that was like a weird element
- 15:31Speaker 3: to the story.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I agree that they were still mad on New
- 15:35Speaker 2: Year's Eve about her working late on Christmas Eve? I
- 15:39Speaker 2: was like, what is happening here? Why are they still
- 15:42Speaker 2: so bad about that?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah? I didn't her friends, they were all right, but
- 15:47Speaker 1: they were like really encouraging her to move. Yeah that
- 15:51Speaker 1: is right. Yeah, I thought they were. I was surprised
- 15:55Speaker 1: that that was their takeaway that they were like, no, no,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you could make this work. Get out of here.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Right? And does six Flags have some financial stake in
- 16:02Speaker 3: this movie?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Goes?
- 16:03Speaker 1: Twice?
- 16:05Speaker 3: They talked about it like.
- 16:06Speaker 1: What definitely was made in twenty nineteen, not in twenty
- 16:11Speaker 1: twenty where riding parks? Maybe they're not California. One thing
- 16:15Speaker 1: I wished for was a more realistic job for Tom
- 16:20Speaker 1: because look, the marketing dude, for a bank, isn't also
- 16:24Speaker 1: their event planner, Like, if a bank is going to
- 16:27Speaker 1: sponsor an event, they are going to write a check
- 16:30Speaker 1: and not show up and do like the table and
- 16:32Speaker 1: chairs set up. I say this as a person who
- 16:35Speaker 1: in a past life was a non profit event manager,
- 16:38Speaker 1: Like I used to run event and let me tell you,
- 16:40Speaker 1: our sponsors were not showing up and moving things around.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I didn't believe this, Nor did I believe that they
- 16:46Speaker 1: sponsor an event three times a week.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yes, I have.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That in my notes.
- 16:50Speaker 3: How many bank hosted events do they have in one town?
- 16:54Speaker 1: I write too, they probably have one cause that they
- 16:59Speaker 1: give to and that's it. They're not sponsoring the chili
- 17:02Speaker 1: cookoff and the Polar Bear plunge. And anyway, didn't believe it.
- 17:06Speaker 2: All you'd see is like the bank's name. You know what,
- 17:10Speaker 2: if some other group is hosting these events, they're just
- 17:13Speaker 2: their name would be on the banner, not like Tom
- 17:16Speaker 2: physically at these events every single time.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not like you get our money and our
- 17:20Speaker 1: manual labor. I also didn't need the storyline of Kelly
- 17:26Speaker 1: wanting to be a storyteller. I didn't really fully understand
- 17:29Speaker 1: what was happening there. But I feel like the only
- 17:31Speaker 1: purpose that served was for them to be able to
- 17:33Speaker 1: write a final scene. And I hated the final scene too.
- 17:36Speaker 1: They could have got that.
- 17:37Speaker 3: I even remember the final scene.
- 17:40Speaker 1: At the open mic. Yeah, but like, it's okay that
- 17:44Speaker 1: her dream is to be a producer. She doesn't also
- 17:46Speaker 1: need to have this like big hidden creative dream to
- 17:50Speaker 1: also tell stories publicly. She doesn't be that complex.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Well that was my one of mine was Okay, well,
- 17:57Speaker 2: it's her new job going to just be producer or
- 18:00Speaker 2: is she gonna be more in front of the camera?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Is that what she wanted? Because yeah, the end part
- 18:06Speaker 2: where she's gonna be telling her own stories, I was like,
- 18:10Speaker 2: is that connected to the new job or are you
- 18:11Speaker 2: just going back to producing?
- 18:12Speaker 3: Well here's my other question too, So as a producer,
- 18:16Speaker 3: you're the boss, right, Like, am I understanding that correctly?
- 18:20Speaker 1: Well, I think she's putting the show together.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Okay, So why is she conferring with the on air
- 18:26Speaker 3: talent that other river or whatever her name was about
- 18:31Speaker 3: Like they're doing like storyboarding or they're pitching stories or whatever,
- 18:34Speaker 3: and that on air lady was was like, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 3: like boosting her up or like giving her feedback, like,
- 18:41Speaker 3: I just didn't understand like that dynamic. Not that it
- 18:44Speaker 3: even matters with anything that's going on in this movie,
- 18:48Speaker 3: but I just thought it was a stupid element. Sorry,
- 18:52Speaker 3: I hated this movie.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I liked River when she told her about her New
- 18:59Speaker 1: Year's and she was like, that sounds terrible. Yeah, Like
- 19:04Speaker 1: I agree, Okay, anymore things that we wished for in
- 19:09Speaker 1: this movie.
- 19:10Speaker 2: The one big thing I wished for was to just
- 19:13Speaker 2: catch the names of any of her friends.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yes, I don't. I didn't write any of them down.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I have no idea. I swear sometimes in these movies,
- 19:22Speaker 2: they never tell you someone's name, and sometimes it's like
- 19:25Speaker 2: twenty minutes before we know the lead's name. I'm like,
- 19:27Speaker 2: what are who are these people? How are you not
- 19:29Speaker 2: saying their names?
- 19:30Speaker 3: That's so funny that you mentioned that, because I had
- 19:32Speaker 3: to rewind it to the beginning to catch the names
- 19:35Speaker 3: of the lead characters because I was like, I have
- 19:37Speaker 3: no Her name is late.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Well, and I swear the niece's yell uncle Tony, like
- 19:42Speaker 2: when he first comes in, but they're saying tom and
- 19:46Speaker 2: they did it twice, and I was like, I swear
- 19:47Speaker 2: they're saying Tony but everyone else calls him Tom so
- 19:50Speaker 2: for me.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Also, I'm just going to add this, I wish this
- 19:54Speaker 3: story didn't take like a left turn because it was
- 19:57Speaker 3: all about like New Year's resolutions and then and we're
- 20:00Speaker 3: talking bank fraud. So I just was like, this should
- 20:04Speaker 3: be on that like Hallmark's Mystery channel, not on this
- 20:08Speaker 3: movie or this channel.
- 20:10Speaker 1: It just was so weird to me.
- 20:11Speaker 3: It's like they ran out of resolution story and then
- 20:14Speaker 3: they had to fill it with something else.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Which they didn't need to because they cover like six
- 20:19Speaker 2: weeks of time, so it could have been filled with
- 20:22Speaker 2: social engagements right exactly.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Well, and like they kind of played fast and lose
- 20:28Speaker 1: with the New Year's resolution, like say yes to the
- 20:31Speaker 1: social events because then they have her on air with
- 20:34Speaker 1: a magician, which had absolutely like the resolution wasn't faith
- 20:38Speaker 1: or fears, Like nobody invited her to go to see
- 20:41Speaker 1: a magic show. They just put her in this. Why
- 20:44Speaker 1: are you on this magician? Stable on the show? This
- 20:47Speaker 1: doesn't have anything to do with your resolution. Also, who's
- 20:52Speaker 1: afraid of magicians?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yes exactly. I was like, of all the things to
- 20:56Speaker 2: be afraid of, that's her worst story.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Okay, Like it's like he cut her in half. Wasn't
- 21:00Speaker 1: throwing flaming starts at her? Right?
- 21:05Speaker 2: That was? That was funny.
- 21:06Speaker 1: This is my favorite part of this episode, and that
- 21:09Speaker 1: is where we hit did you see that? Questions, plot holes,
- 21:12Speaker 1: things we need to discuss, And I think the very
- 21:16Speaker 1: first thing we need to discuss is this movie is
- 21:18Speaker 1: very obviously based on Shonda Hime's Europe. Yes, don't you think, Wendy, are.
- 21:26Speaker 2: You kidding me? Right now?
- 21:27Speaker 3: I know I just read that book. I mean maybe
- 21:32Speaker 3: it was inspired by it. I didn't say.
- 21:35Speaker 1: It's a good interpretation of the book. I'm just saying
- 21:37Speaker 1: they took inspiration.
- 21:39Speaker 2: It's like one of the writers read that and was like, hey,
- 21:41Speaker 2: we should do this.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Yes, I'm not saying it's something Shonda Rhime
- 21:48Speaker 1: should be proud of.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I'm saying, or take credit for.
- 21:51Speaker 1: One hundred percent. Someone read that book and then wrote
- 21:54Speaker 1: a story backwards from funny.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Possibly possibly? Okay, I have one the day on New
- 22:03Speaker 3: Year's Day when they do the polar plunge, could they
- 22:06Speaker 3: have put Amy tea Garden in a less flattering baiting suit?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:11Speaker 3: Did anybody notice that?
- 22:12Speaker 2: Well?
- 22:12Speaker 3: It was so funny because our friend was like a
- 22:13Speaker 3: full wetsuit. I'm like, of course you're going into freezing water.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Why are you just in a two piece baiting suit?
- 22:19Speaker 1: But she in a wetsuit. Look a she was in
- 22:21Speaker 1: like workout clothes, and I was like, why do you
- 22:23Speaker 1: want to get out of the water and now you're
- 22:25Speaker 1: soaking wet workout clothes? Her friend, yeah, I think a
- 22:29Speaker 1: bathing suit is the way to go.
- 22:31Speaker 3: A wet suit is the way to go.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Sure, but is that I think that's cheating. I don't
- 22:35Speaker 1: think a wet suit is the point of the polar
- 22:38Speaker 1: Bear plunge.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Plus, her hair when she came out of the water
- 22:41Speaker 2: wasn't even wet.
- 22:42Speaker 1: The friends, oh, yes, I did see that when she
- 22:45Speaker 1: came out.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yes, I would have been so done with her, like
- 22:49Speaker 2: you make me go to this, you wear a wetsuit
- 22:51Speaker 2: and then you don't even get fully submerged. So I
- 22:54Speaker 2: think she's.
- 22:54Speaker 1: The only one who went underwater.
- 22:57Speaker 2: She might have.
- 22:59Speaker 1: God blessed the ex stress who had to be in
- 23:01Speaker 1: this scene, and some of them were in swimsuits. I thought, man,
- 23:04Speaker 1: this is not the job you wanted to pull ready
- 23:07Speaker 1: into free water in your bathing suit in a movie. No,
- 23:12Speaker 1: thank you. Fortunately it was brief. I have a question,
- 23:16Speaker 1: go ahead, Why is the bank having a gala? And
- 23:20Speaker 1: why is there gala called gala? Did you see the sign?
- 23:23Speaker 1: He's like, oh, I'm Perium National Bank Gala. I'm like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: call it the Starlight soiree or something stupid. But you
- 23:30Speaker 1: don't call your gala a galah.
- 23:34Speaker 2: And yeah, it didn't seem like it was a fundraiser
- 23:37Speaker 2: or just an annual whatever. It was just a gala
- 23:40Speaker 2: for the sake of having.
- 23:41Speaker 1: One, for the sake of him being busy, and her
- 23:43Speaker 1: needing to wear a ball gown that she just again
- 23:46Speaker 1: here we go again, just happens to have a ball
- 23:48Speaker 1: gown in her closet that she can grab. She says,
- 23:50Speaker 1: give me thirty minutes. He tells her to get ready
- 23:53Speaker 1: for a day with her family, his family, and then
- 23:56Speaker 1: a gala, and you can throw together two outfits in
- 23:58Speaker 1: thirty minutes.
- 23:59Speaker 2: No, no, I was like, I need the day to
- 24:03Speaker 2: go shopping seriously, at.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Least, Kelly, do you have any did you see that?
- 24:09Speaker 2: So right early in the movie, when she goes into
- 24:13Speaker 2: that coffee shop, I have too. Here so the only
- 24:16Speaker 2: thing written on the window is just gluten free in figures,
- 24:20Speaker 2: I saw that, so that's good. And then inside this
- 24:28Speaker 2: barista offers her a free sample and she rejects it.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Like who does that?
- 24:33Speaker 3: Right?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Rejects cookie sample? I don't even care if I don't
- 24:37Speaker 2: think i'd like it. It's a free cookie, so I know.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And her response was something like I'm on a mission.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I'm like, so you can't shove this cookie in your mouth?
- 24:45Speaker 1: And yeah, it's a wait how long does it take
- 24:49Speaker 1: to eat the cookie? Yes?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never turned down a cookie. I had two
- 24:56Speaker 2: other ones well, so one was the board game she
- 24:59Speaker 2: chose to play with her friends.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And yes, the worst game ever.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Oh my kids always trying to get me to play Life,
- 25:08Speaker 2: and I'm like, no, so make a friend and play
- 25:13Speaker 2: with them.
- 25:13Speaker 1: My kids are like, why do we own that game?
- 25:15Speaker 1: If you won't play with us, I gave you a
- 25:17Speaker 1: sibling you can play with each other. But that is
- 25:20Speaker 1: never going to be a game.
- 25:22Speaker 3: No.
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think her friends complain about it too well.
- 25:25Speaker 1: And did you notice in the background when they're playing
- 25:27Speaker 1: those board games the pile up of games behind her.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I didn't recognize a single one. And this is I
- 25:33Speaker 1: live on house. We own a lot of board games.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I was like, there's not a monopoly. There's not a
- 25:38Speaker 1: trouble back there.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, anything else and Checkers is just as bad. And
- 25:44Speaker 2: Tom was like, why are we playing checkers? With all
- 25:47Speaker 2: the games? I'm like, so thank you. He sympathizes, he
- 25:50Speaker 2: knows this is a boring game.
- 25:52Speaker 1: He was easily the clearer head of the two.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Yes, totally.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Did you notice the birthday cake at the party? Yes,
- 26:01Speaker 1: because they have picked a more boring grocery store cake.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I walk into my grocery store right now. I could
- 26:09Speaker 1: pick a stock cake off the shelf that looks better
- 26:12Speaker 1: than that, and I could have had them right at
- 26:14Speaker 1: least happy birthday, even if it's not personalized like send
- 26:17Speaker 1: a pa and ask them to get the rising out
- 26:20Speaker 1: and right, more like stick some things on. It was
- 26:23Speaker 1: white with a couple of rainbow sprinkles.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It was super boring. I said the same thing. My
- 26:28Speaker 3: husband and I watched the movie together and I was like,
- 26:30Speaker 3: look at that shitty Costco cake, and he's like, wait,
- 26:34Speaker 3: Costco cake is delicious. Don't talk bad about Costco cake.
- 26:37Speaker 3: But it was an awful prop awful.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I love a Costco cake too, mony too. It was
- 26:43Speaker 1: not a pretty cake. They could have done better. No,
- 26:46Speaker 1: it was a factually department.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I This part of the movie reminded me of another
- 26:50Speaker 2: thing that Hallmark does a lot, is like when the
- 26:53Speaker 2: the one lead is coming into like a family situation
- 26:56Speaker 2: of the others, they immediately get put to work. So,
- 27:00Speaker 2: nice to meet you. Let's help me with this cake.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And I've seen that in a few others, where like
- 27:05Speaker 2: they just get immediately put to work in the kitchen
- 27:07Speaker 2: or whatever, and you're like, oh, nice to meet you.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I guess, like, just you're one of the family.
- 27:12Speaker 1: It's so funny because I saw that moment and I
- 27:14Speaker 1: thought about it because I'm super awkward in new situation,
- 27:17Speaker 1: especially there's a lot of people I don't know, and
- 27:19Speaker 1: I thought, would I want them to do that? So
- 27:22Speaker 1: at least I have something to do, so I'm not
- 27:23Speaker 1: standing around awkwardly making small talk. But obviously I wouldn't
- 27:29Speaker 1: do that to my own guests, like here, come help me.
- 27:33Speaker 2: But I'm like you, I would rather just be doing something.
- 27:37Speaker 2: So yeah, there's at least purpose to the talk, because
- 27:40Speaker 2: otherwise I'd be just standing awkwardly by myself.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah, how'd you meet Tony?
- 27:49Speaker 3: I thought, Okay, there was one more spot that I
- 27:51Speaker 3: thought was really funny. It was she went to a
- 27:53Speaker 3: spin class with her friend and after this spin class,
- 27:57Speaker 3: it's a really tight scene, but they are returning the
- 28:02Speaker 3: spin shoes like if they were at a bowling alley,
- 28:04Speaker 3: when you would return bowling shoes. And my husband who
- 28:08Speaker 3: was watching, he does spin, and he's like, I couldn't
- 28:12Speaker 3: pay somebody a million dollars to wear my spin shoes
- 28:15Speaker 3: after I've been in them, it's like they're disgusting. So
- 28:19Speaker 3: the fact that he's like, I don't even know if
- 28:22Speaker 3: this is real, Like, do you borrow spin shoes at.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Us I've been, I've borrowed him.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I have borrowed them too.
- 28:30Speaker 1: I've only taken one spin class in my life and
- 28:32Speaker 1: I don't own spin shoes, so I know that I
- 28:34Speaker 1: borrowed them. But just like, I mean, it's it's definitely gross,
- 28:38Speaker 1: but so were bowling shoes.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I mean, they do make you because you've got to
- 28:41Speaker 2: be able to clip in and so you can either
- 28:44Speaker 2: like I think you rent them for like two dollars
- 28:46Speaker 2: a class or something, but.
- 28:47Speaker 1: They're all sweaty.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yeah, bowling shoes don't get sweaty like that.
- 28:51Speaker 2: No, no, ros it's not great, but it's it's better
- 28:56Speaker 2: than paying what like eighty dollars for one spin class shoes.
- 29:01Speaker 2: So wow, yeah, I'm never going.
- 29:03Speaker 1: To go back, right right. I felt very attacked when
- 29:10Speaker 1: she was in the restaurant on New Year's Eve and
- 29:14Speaker 1: she's talking about her new Year's resolution and her friends
- 29:16Speaker 1: go fifty two books in fifty two weeks. Excuse me,
- 29:19Speaker 1: that is a perfectly fine resolution.
- 29:22Speaker 3: I laughed out loud because I thought of you immediately.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I gasped.
- 29:29Speaker 2: But I wrote that down because I was just like,
- 29:32Speaker 2: that is so ambitious to read one book a week,
- 29:35Speaker 2: especially considering how she's so busy, if she's working around
- 29:39Speaker 2: the clock.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yes, it's not a realistic resolution for her, although that
- 29:43Speaker 1: is my personal reading goal of year. I mean last
- 29:46Speaker 1: year I read eighty seven.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 29:50Speaker 1: We can talk about the quality of the books I'm reading.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It's it's not that impressive when you look at the
- 29:55Speaker 1: actual book. But I did feel attacked by their tone.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a great resolution, though, especially because the
- 30:04Speaker 2: other ones was just drink one cup of coffee a day,
- 30:07Speaker 2: and I think the other ones was to take more
- 30:09Speaker 2: spin classes. So those were equally lame if we're talking,
- 30:12Speaker 2: or way worse.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I mean, like perfectly fine goals, but they're not exactly
- 30:17Speaker 1: like deep right, like I'm going to drink less coffee
- 30:20Speaker 1: and work out more. I mean, which was also funny
- 30:23Speaker 1: when they called Tom over and he's like guessing. He's like,
- 30:25Speaker 1: someone's going to make a food resolution, someone's going to
- 30:28Speaker 1: make a fitness resolution.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I mean, he.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Wasn't technically guessing, like those are those are.
- 30:34Speaker 2: What people make resolutions?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Well, and I kind of thought he was going to
- 30:37Speaker 1: like guess based on the person. He was like, oh, yeah,
- 30:41Speaker 1: look at you, not just like raise your hand if
- 30:44Speaker 1: I mean you're not a kindergarten teacher. Okay. The obstacle course,
- 30:50Speaker 1: Oh my god, yes. My husband goes first of all,
- 30:54Speaker 1: when they start, it's just the two of them that
- 30:56Speaker 1: you can see on the course, and he goes, two people,
- 30:59Speaker 1: that's it? What kind of dumass race is this? And
- 31:02Speaker 1: then of course you see a couple of them come around,
- 31:04Speaker 1: but it takes them maybe thirty seconds to get through
- 31:06Speaker 1: the course. And she goes, well, I wasn't prepared. You
- 31:10Speaker 1: weren't for hearing to walk up a flight of stairs.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I know, but have you guys tried to like do
- 31:15Speaker 2: monkey bars as adults.
- 31:18Speaker 1: No, we will probably break something.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I was like, man, they are just going after those
- 31:22Speaker 2: monkey bars. I've tried, like going to the park with
- 31:25Speaker 2: my kids, and I'm like, if they're tall enough for
- 31:28Speaker 2: me to not touch the ground, I like, can't do it.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I have no upper body strength anymore. Said they just
- 31:35Speaker 2: went after it.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I thought it was ridiculous, and I laughed and it
- 31:39Speaker 3: was like a twenty second course. But there's no way
- 31:42Speaker 3: I could have pulled my body up over that like V.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Like wyow oh no no. I mean I say this
- 31:48Speaker 1: as I sit home in my joggers, yeah right, and
- 31:52Speaker 1: my slippers. It's easy to judge. But she's also much
- 31:55Speaker 1: younger than I am. My son had to do pushups
- 31:59Speaker 1: for PE he's thirteen the other day and his form
- 32:01Speaker 1: was terrible. So I was like, look, let me show
- 32:04Speaker 1: you what your pushups are supposed to look like. Right,
- 32:07Speaker 1: And to set the scene, my husband and I were
- 32:08Speaker 1: like snipping at each other, but about something else. And
- 32:12Speaker 1: it's one of those like you're like extra nice to
- 32:14Speaker 1: your kids when you're mad at your spouse and you're
- 32:15Speaker 1: trying to be like a super great parent. So I'm like,
- 32:18Speaker 1: I'm going to show you the form, let's do this together.
- 32:20Speaker 1: And so I get in like full push up form
- 32:22Speaker 1: and I'm showing him like, first of all, maybe I
- 32:24Speaker 1: can do two push ups. Ever, and I'm like you don't.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Like he's in a v right like butt straight up
- 32:29Speaker 1: in the air, and I'm like, you gotta get in
- 32:30Speaker 1: the plank position. And I get like halfway down and
- 32:32Speaker 1: my arm's just collapsed from underneath me and I hit
- 32:35Speaker 1: the ground. And it was such a perfect moment because
- 32:40Speaker 1: it totally broke the eyes. Like my husband and I
- 32:42Speaker 1: like laughed, but I'm like, well, see, just like mommy,
- 32:45Speaker 1: don't you just like yeah, just like that. It's easy.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Oh. My kids love to like coach me if they're
- 32:52Speaker 2: watching me do a workout video and they'll be like, mom,
- 32:54Speaker 2: his arms are straighter than he's not on his knees.
- 32:58Speaker 2: You should do them faster. I'm like, my gosh, I
- 33:02Speaker 2: could barely do it the way I'm doing it.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Do we have any more? Did you see that moment?
- 33:08Speaker 3: Nothing? Nothing for me?
- 33:10Speaker 2: I one other one? Well, I have a couple about
- 33:13Speaker 2: the hockey game. So did you guys see the waiter?
- 33:17Speaker 2: It was like, actually I was watching this with my
- 33:19Speaker 2: mom and she's like, Calie, pose it and go back.
- 33:21Speaker 2: You have to see this guy's mustache and the waiter.
- 33:24Speaker 2: The waiter like it's like the opening shot in the box,
- 33:28Speaker 2: and he has a mustache like half the size of
- 33:30Speaker 2: his face. It was so I was like he was
- 33:35Speaker 2: going to use every second half of his like featured
- 33:38Speaker 2: extra moment. It was so funny. I didn't I did
- 33:42Speaker 2: not even have Yeah, it was it was pretty great.
- 33:45Speaker 2: And then they had to go down. They went to
- 33:50Speaker 2: go get food, but they're in the box. They don't
- 33:52Speaker 2: have to go to the concession stand.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Well, because she wanted cheese fries and they didn't.
- 33:57Speaker 2: They only had fancy food in the box.
- 33:59Speaker 1: He was like, there's all this catered food and she's like,
- 34:01Speaker 1: but there's no cheese fries, and then he shits on
- 34:03Speaker 1: her cheese fries, which I was thinking, like, this is
- 34:07Speaker 1: not a relationship that could work for me, because I
- 34:10Speaker 1: need someone who also likes like my level of food.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I enjoy a nice meal, but I can get down
- 34:17Speaker 1: with a McDonald's drive through. It's really hard. My husband
- 34:21Speaker 1: hasn't had fast food in probably ten years. It's very
- 34:24Speaker 1: hard to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't
- 34:27Speaker 1: share your love of terrible food, So I.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Yes, that's why you have me mega.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I text Wendy. I'm like, I'm hitting McDonald's drive through.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Don't tell anybody, and then I have to like throw
- 34:39Speaker 1: away the evidence before I get Well.
- 34:42Speaker 3: It was funny about the hockey game is I was
- 34:46Speaker 3: referring to last week's movie where he was a Rangers
- 34:52Speaker 3: hockey player, and I was like, oh, asking my husband,
- 34:55Speaker 3: is there like a Milwaukee hockey team? Like do I
- 34:58Speaker 3: don't even know? Honestly, I don't know anything about hockey,
- 35:00Speaker 3: And he's like, wouldn't it be funny if it was
- 35:02Speaker 3: the Polar Bears? Like how I don't because Megan last
- 35:07Speaker 3: week called it like it's not going to be called
- 35:09Speaker 3: the Polar Bears or whatever it was anyway. But notice
- 35:13Speaker 3: they didn't show any like sort of team, like there
- 35:16Speaker 3: was no branded team.
- 35:18Speaker 1: No sponsors, no, no. I do appreciate that your husband
- 35:22Speaker 1: clearly listened to the podcast last week.
- 35:24Speaker 3: He does, I don't, well, I make him watch the movies.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Listening to the podcast is totally optional.
- 35:32Speaker 1: So yeah, I appreciate that. I thought that hockey date
- 35:39Speaker 1: was an odd date, like bring all your friends and
- 35:43Speaker 1: we'll be in this box, and like all my work
- 35:44Speaker 1: people are here, and all your friends are here, and
- 35:46Speaker 1: we're going to try to have a conversation. Was a weird,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like there's no other time you guys can find to
- 35:51Speaker 1: hang out.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Well, okay, wait, what about the speed dating? Was it
- 35:55Speaker 3: just a coincidence that he and his friend were at
- 35:57Speaker 3: the speed dating event too? Or was the baby?
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah? I didn't know either. I assume he was just
- 36:05Speaker 2: there as a single man in Milwaukee. But yeah, maybe
- 36:10Speaker 2: the bank sponsored that too.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that wasn't clear to me. And she was just
- 36:14Speaker 1: there because her friend made her be that. I have
- 36:16Speaker 1: to tell you, that sounds like the absolute worst way
- 36:18Speaker 1: to spend an hour.
- 36:19Speaker 2: That is it even a real thing? I mean twenty
- 36:23Speaker 2: twenty covid aside. I only see speed dating in movies.
- 36:27Speaker 2: I don't know if I've ever heard of it happening
- 36:29Speaker 2: in real life.
- 36:31Speaker 3: That is a good point. I've never attended one. I
- 36:33Speaker 3: don't know anybody who's been to one. I honestly don't know.
- 36:37Speaker 3: But that is my first nightmare. I would never want
- 36:39Speaker 3: to make small chit chat with somebody, never.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Over and over and over it and no choice, just
- 36:43Speaker 2: a revolving like rotation of men.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I feel physically ill thinking about it. If I ever.
- 36:51Speaker 1: My husband joked the other day about me going back
- 36:55Speaker 1: on e harmony because that's where we met each other,
- 36:57Speaker 1: and I was like, not in a million years if
- 36:59Speaker 1: I find myself single, Like, I'm good. Yeah, I know,
- 37:03Speaker 1: I know I need to go through the nightmare of
- 37:07Speaker 1: dating at No. Oh, that is not my first priority.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Well, it's funny we were talking about this resolution, and
- 37:16Speaker 2: I mean, what if this was twenty twenty, What a
- 37:19Speaker 2: great year to choose to commit to more social events,
- 37:23Speaker 2: right if you don't want to, you're like, oh, great,
- 37:27Speaker 2: I'm good. I've you know, I did my best and
- 37:29Speaker 2: I wasn't allowed.
- 37:30Speaker 1: So this is you know, I love to come, but
- 37:32Speaker 1: I just don't feel comfortable. Wait before we move on
- 37:36Speaker 1: to our rating, does anybody have any other final thoughts
- 37:38Speaker 1: about this movie?
- 37:39Speaker 2: So one thing I wanted to make sure to mention
- 37:42Speaker 2: was this line that Michael Rady said in all the
- 37:45Speaker 2: chaos of getting the Chili Cookoff organized. She offers to
- 37:49Speaker 2: take tickets and he says that he'll write songs about
- 37:52Speaker 2: her heroism, and I just that was so funny that
- 37:56Speaker 2: he would be like that for her ticket taking. So yeah,
- 38:00Speaker 2: it was great.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Don't even I remember that part. But I don't even
- 38:03Speaker 3: remember that dialogue.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I like, but I rewounded and like wrote it down.
- 38:08Speaker 2: This is it's like so on Hallmark of like a silly,
- 38:12Speaker 2: goofy line that someone would say that I was. I
- 38:14Speaker 2: just loved it.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Well, that scene where she's taking tickets and he kind
- 38:17Speaker 1: of like looks over at her with like google eyes,
- 38:20Speaker 1: and I was like, what is it about this scene?
- 38:23Speaker 1: It's not like that's normally the kind of scene where
- 38:25Speaker 1: you see like someone helping out a child or someone
- 38:28Speaker 1: doing something really sweet. She has taken the tickets at
- 38:31Speaker 1: the chili cookoff, and that really is the thing.
- 38:34Speaker 2: The premiere like bank sponsored event, this chili cookoff. But
- 38:38Speaker 2: you know, actually, I've noticed that they do chili cookoffs
- 38:41Speaker 2: in the winter movies. They did this last year too,
- 38:45Speaker 2: in one of the winter movies now that I think about,
- 38:47Speaker 2: So that might.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Be a winter movie equivalent of eggnog and hot chocolate
- 38:51Speaker 1: must be.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you eat chili in January.
- 38:53Speaker 3: So to me, a chili cookoff feels appropriate for summertime. Yes,
- 38:58Speaker 3: I don't know why, maybe.
- 38:59Speaker 2: And they're always outdoor in the winter. You're like, how
- 39:02Speaker 2: are you doing this.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't even want to do this. I want
- 39:06Speaker 1: to skip it and the podcast because I don't even
- 39:08Speaker 1: want to know. But okay, we're gonna rate this movie.
- 39:11Speaker 1: We do it out of four stars. As a reminder,
- 39:14Speaker 1: last week, Wendy and I both gave Taking a Shot
- 39:17Speaker 1: at Love three point five stars of very high rating,
- 39:20Speaker 1: nearly perfect. I'm gonna let our guests go first. CALLI
- 39:23Speaker 1: what do you think?
- 39:24Speaker 2: So? Yeah, I was kind of reflecting on this because
- 39:27Speaker 2: I didn't want to be Taking a Shot at Love
- 39:30Speaker 2: is so far my favorite. We're only two in, but
- 39:33Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna do waffling between two and a
- 39:36Speaker 2: half and three. I think that's all.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Okay, Wendy, hold on, is that too generous? I'm gonna
- 39:44Speaker 1: sandwich myself in the middle because we're gonna. I gave
- 39:48Speaker 1: this two and a half stars. Having talked about it
- 39:51Speaker 1: with you, it has tarnished my opinion on that movie
- 39:54Speaker 1: a little bit, but I genuinely enjoyed the experience of
- 39:57Speaker 1: watching it. If it were to be on again, probably
- 40:00Speaker 1: would not stop and watch. I really liked Amy key Garden.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I liked her in this movie. I enjoyed it. It
- 40:07Speaker 1: was fine. Two and a half Wendy Break my Heart.
- 40:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna give it one and a half stars.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Stop.
- 40:16Speaker 3: I don't even know what the half is for. I
- 40:19Speaker 3: want to give him one star. I hated it so
- 40:23Speaker 3: so so.
- 40:24Speaker 2: See. My problem is, I've seen a couple of the
- 40:27Speaker 2: previous of what's coming, and I don't want to I
- 40:29Speaker 2: think they're going to get worse.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I'm not looking forward to this weekend's movie. I showed
- 40:35Speaker 1: what's it called, Oh for the Wind, two for the Wind.
- 40:38Speaker 3: I'm looking for. Well, he is very cute to look at.
- 40:42Speaker 3: I don't know what that actor's name.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Is, but he's Trevor Donovan. I think, yeah, he.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Doesn't do it for me, give me scrolls.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And he's so blonde. He is so blonde as.
- 40:57Speaker 3: I'm into it. But we'll see.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I can't believe we didn't get a Tyler Hines movie
- 41:04Speaker 1: in Do you think we're going to get whatever they're
- 41:06Speaker 1: gonna call their Valentine's.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I think I saw on his Instagram he's in an
- 41:12Speaker 2: upcoming with Aaron Krackou and I think that. I don't
- 41:16Speaker 2: know if that's a Valentine's movie or a Spring movie,
- 41:19Speaker 2: but I know he definitely something's coming. But yeah, he
- 41:22Speaker 2: is one of my favorites.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Okay, I have a question for you two who are
- 41:26Speaker 3: experienced watchers. Now, do what I expect new movies in
- 41:30Speaker 3: February as well? Or is there like a slate of
- 41:33Speaker 3: like Valentine movies.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it should be like a Valentine series, and
- 41:37Speaker 1: then they'll probably have a Spring series.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And then I in my experience, there is kind of
- 41:43Speaker 1: like a lull.
- 41:45Speaker 2: But they do like June wedding season.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Yeah, there is the summer like last year there was
- 41:50Speaker 1: like a like a bunch of lake yeah, and like
- 41:53Speaker 1: beachy summer movies.
- 41:55Speaker 2: And then they do fall.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Whether there's Christmas in July so they replace all right, yeah,
- 42:00Speaker 1: and then there's fall, and then there's three months of Christmas. Yeah,
- 42:05Speaker 1: and they were when we watched this yesterday morning, and
- 42:09Speaker 1: when we turned on the TV to watch it, one
- 42:12Speaker 1: of the Fall movies was on. Like at that moment
- 42:15Speaker 1: that my husband's like, let's watch that. I was like, no,
- 42:17Speaker 1: we have to start here because the problem with the
- 42:20Speaker 1: Fall movies is my husband desperately wants to move out
- 42:24Speaker 1: of California. And they all take place in these fictional
- 42:26Speaker 1: small towns where the leaves are changing and I'm like,
- 42:29Speaker 1: that's Canada. This place doesn't exist. We can't move there.
- 42:35Speaker 1: So I don't like to watch the Fall movies with
- 42:37Speaker 1: him because he just spends the whole time going, let's
- 42:39Speaker 1: go there, Let's move there.
- 42:41Speaker 2: That's so funny.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Anyway, I like when they're in a big city because
- 42:44Speaker 1: I'm like, you don't want to move there, do you?
- 42:46Speaker 2: Right?
- 42:46Speaker 3: I mean he's not into Milwaukee.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Really the past I was just going to say to
- 42:53Speaker 2: the problem with getting fall is you usually have to
- 42:56Speaker 2: get winter too, so you can't really have one without
- 42:59Speaker 2: the other. So yes, unless he wants the cold, cold
- 43:02Speaker 2: winters too, it does not.
- 43:04Speaker 1: He wants like a couple sprinklings of snow and cooler weather.
- 43:10Speaker 1: He's like, I want the four seasons, but I don't
- 43:12Speaker 1: want them extreme. Really, the four seasons a right, and
- 43:16Speaker 1: any place that like kind of gets that is ridiculously
- 43:20Speaker 1: humid in the summer, and I'm so crabby in the
- 43:23Speaker 1: heat that I don't think he actually wants them. Yeah, Kellie,
- 43:26Speaker 1: tell everybody where they can find you.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Yeah. So my uh Instagram is hallmarks the spot, Uh
- 43:34Speaker 2: just all together, no aster or yeah, just all the letters.
- 43:40Speaker 2: And then my blog for my recaps is hallmarks the
- 43:45Speaker 2: spot dot home dot blog, and I usually post the links.
- 43:49Speaker 2: That's kind of a clunky web address, so I post
- 43:51Speaker 2: the links on my Instagram account too.
- 43:53Speaker 1: So yay. Well, thank you so much for being here.
- 43:56Speaker 1: This was fun even though and he broke my heart
- 43:59Speaker 1: every for the past forty five minutes.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Maybe next week.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being here for this episode
- 44:05Speaker 1: of Girls Gone Hallmark. We love this is something we
- 44:09Speaker 1: can agree on. We love your ratings and your reviews.
- 44:12Speaker 1: We'd love it if you would leave us one because
- 44:14Speaker 1: that is how people find us. And we'll be back
- 44:17Speaker 1: next week on Thursday, discussing two for the Win, and
- 44:21Speaker 1: of course we go back with our regular podcast episodes
- 44:25Speaker 1: every Tuesday. We'll see you later. Bye byee.
