Oakland Councilmember Rowena Brown was violently attacked by an acquaintance, Ahshatae Millhouse, 38, who is now in custody facing multiple felonies including assault, robbery, and false imprisonment. Brown, who had been trying to help Millhouse through a tough time, asked her to leave after escalating behavior. The assault involved punches and strangulation; Brown escaped, reporting stolen property including her purse and two phones. Surveillance captured Millhouse leaving with the purse.
