- 0:28Speaker 1: in our Grand Slam Cash giveaway this hour.
- 0:30Speaker 3: The word is cash.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Sash To entered that at nine three three KJR dot
- 0:34Speaker 1: com for your chance to win one thousand dollars. I'll
- 0:36Speaker 1: do another one next hour, and so will Ian Forernest
- 0:39Speaker 1: from twelve until three, Dave Softiemller and Dick Fane from
- 0:42Speaker 1: three until seven, and the week here on.
- 0:44Speaker 3: A Friday schedule release.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We'll be more excited about finding out the games or
- 0:50Speaker 1: watching the videos the team's put out.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So I feel that this year they took it to
- 0:55Speaker 2: a whole nother level, because last year, if I'm not mistaken,
- 0:58Speaker 2: they were all maybe ninety seconds. This year, the Chargers
- 1:04Speaker 2: had one that was about five minutes, and I'm a
- 1:06Speaker 2: big Halo guy, like I grew up playing that game,
- 1:09Speaker 2: So two minutes in I was like.
- 1:11Speaker 4: All right, this is just dragging on. I didn't even
- 1:13Speaker 4: finish it.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I'm actually about to watch the Tennessee Titan because I
- 1:17Speaker 2: heard that was a really good one and.
- 1:19Speaker 1: One still I think the best one ever made was
- 1:21Speaker 1: when the Titans just jumped on people walking down Broadway
- 1:24Speaker 1: and they had no idea who the logos were. There
- 1:26Speaker 1: were some that, yeah, that was pretty good, hilarious. What
- 1:30Speaker 1: the blank is that is that? The what is that?
- 1:33Speaker 3: That was really good? That was in twenty twenty three?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like the Rams one they had I think last season
- 1:37Speaker 2: when they were driving around in the car.
- 1:39Speaker 3: That was really cool. They did a Napoleon Dynamite one.
- 1:42Speaker 3: This time.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The Rams did huh okay opening montage. I'm gonna have
- 1:46Speaker 1: to watch a couple of them during the break.
- 1:49Speaker 3: But the Colts did a Simpsons themed one. I'm sure
- 1:52Speaker 3: everybody loved that.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of Americans, a lot of people love
- 1:56Speaker 2: the Simpsons.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And of course the hometown Seahawks. Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 4: I couldn't really got a mite in.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I was just like brother, I liked the nostalgia ninety
- 2:05Speaker 1: six reference to the Okay Dallas Cowboys having not won
- 2:08Speaker 1: the Super Bowl since then.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Look at that. They did something right.
- 2:11Speaker 4: They nailed their schedule release you talk.
- 2:15Speaker 1: About the Seahawks Cowboys, No, that was the Cowboys or
- 2:19Speaker 1: the Seahawks release about the Cowboys.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Got it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: The perfume brand was nostalgia, well played sattle.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And they had a course of reference to the substation
- 2:29Speaker 1: outside the forty nine Ers practice facility in Santa Clara.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The substation, the substation fragrance. If you went to touch
- 2:37Speaker 1: the bottle to use it, it would shock you.
- 2:39Speaker 4: You know, as a Super Bowl champ.
- 2:41Speaker 3: You can do that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: The Chargers, though, I mean I had to press pause
- 2:45Speaker 1: a couple of times to catch some of the references.
- 2:47Speaker 3: But they went they went after Mike Rabel.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And I didn't get that far. What what do you
- 2:52Speaker 2: do You remember the week that was that they.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Middle the season. It wasn't too far in week six seven.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't make it to like week four because
- 2:59Speaker 4: it was so long.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Greg was five. It was a little bit. It was
- 3:03Speaker 3: a little bit. I had to be done with all my.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Stories for the news schedules, before I my son kept saying, oh,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I don't have time for this.
- 3:10Speaker 2: That's like I think it compiled thirty two teams. It
- 3:12Speaker 2: might have been an hour just watching. There were so
- 3:15Speaker 2: many and so long. Every team did one, and the
- 3:18Speaker 2: Athletic ranked them.
- 3:19Speaker 3: There's a story in the Athletic and.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I will read that to see if I feel that
- 3:24Speaker 2: the Chargers just dragged too long.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And the and they didn't think so they ranked Chargers
- 3:29Speaker 1: number one. Really, they ranked the Titans number two because
- 3:31Speaker 1: they all played Halo. I'm not I'm not buying that.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I'm not. I don't know what Halo is.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It's a video game.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I mean, I know it's a video yeah, but.
- 3:38Speaker 2: It's nonetheless, Greg, I'm with you, video game. No, they
- 3:42Speaker 2: should have been maybe top and No.
- 3:46Speaker 3: No, they're appealing to a certain demographic.
- 3:48Speaker 4: That's fine, but it don't need to be five minutes.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But the Resini Vrabel references were in particular, there's a
- 3:57Speaker 1: reference to a graphic on the side saying an email incoming.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I guess on Halo you can get social media and
- 4:03Speaker 1: email updates or whatever your I guess it's whatever your
- 4:06Speaker 1: computer set up to.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I just like my man's voice Slayer.
- 4:10Speaker 1: There was an incoming email from The New York Post
- 4:13Speaker 1: that remained unread on the Patriots part of the Chargers video.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I think what I'm gonna do is I'm going to
- 4:20Speaker 2: pull it up and we're going to play it because
- 4:22Speaker 2: I'm curious now.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But if you play it, I don't know that without
- 4:25Speaker 1: the visuals you'll be able to get it.
- 4:28Speaker 2: That is true. There's a lot to get here on radio.
- 4:30Speaker 2: You can't You got to close your eyes and visually.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I thought of this.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I thought of playing the Patriot the Seahawks one. I
- 4:37Speaker 1: guess there's some narrative that you could get on radio anyway.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I know a lot of you. It's it is a
- 4:43Speaker 1: I will say this. I know this from covering the NFL.
- 4:46Speaker 1: This has become a Christmas Day for the social media
- 4:49Speaker 1: and production teams. True, you nail this, And let's be honest,
- 4:55Speaker 1: those who are working in those are younger, new into
- 4:58Speaker 1: the industry, probably lower paid in in the Graham scheme
- 5:01Speaker 1: of NFL team's pay charts.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And you're right, the Chargers gal is a legend. They
- 5:08Speaker 3: post their.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Picture of her on the field and she's got her
- 5:10Speaker 1: arms out wide and people are like, she's a messiah
- 5:13Speaker 1: or something that she's revered for the work she's done.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Uh yeah, the Chargers, when you're right, it wasn't opus.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It was quite an epic. But Chris is watching it now,
- 5:24Speaker 1: he's trying to follow this. So four nine, four five
- 5:27Speaker 1: one what you thought of the Seahawks schedule? And the
- 5:30Speaker 1: Seahawks schedule released? So the Perfume Day Champions.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Perfume Day Champions.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So yeah, they did not take a Mike Vrabel. Of
- 5:42Speaker 1: course they didn't have to because they had.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Look look what we're talking about. They had the Super
- 5:46Speaker 3: Bowl win.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It doesn't even matter even if they like went Owen whatever.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Seahawks have class.
- 5:51Speaker 3: No.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I just think if you are playing the Patriot, you couldn't.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I couldn't ignore that.
- 5:56Speaker 4: You can't ignore it because you got something in there.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I knew that Argers would do that. But if you
- 6:01Speaker 3: guess what team didn't throw a jab? Yeah, that's two.
- 6:05Speaker 3: That's true. Five on nine says Chris, you gotta watch
- 6:08Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay. It's the funniest. Oh.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Like I said, I'm gonna be doing my homework.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I just got turned off when I looked at the
- 6:15Speaker 2: Chargers and it was like six six minutes and thirteen seconds. Really,
- 6:19Speaker 2: there's no reason a schedule release should be that long. Like,
- 6:22Speaker 2: great work for that team that did it, that's awesome.
- 6:25Speaker 2: But I'm really like, unless I'm a die hard Chargers fan,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I'm not gonna watch a six minute video regarding Halo
- 6:32Speaker 2: in my season starting up and the schedule being I
- 6:35Speaker 2: just can't.
- 6:36Speaker 4: That's a lot six minutes.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Greg, Yeah, a lot of people did watch it, though.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I bet they did. It's all Halo was like, I'm in,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but I got two minutes in. I was like, brother,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I got four more minutes of this?
- 6:47Speaker 3: All right, I can't do it. You and your young
- 6:48Speaker 3: kids with atention spans now I know.
- 6:51Speaker 1: On the show today, we're gona talk about the pluses
- 6:53Speaker 1: and minuses for the Seahawks inside their game schedule for
- 6:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, including they had the same built in
- 7:00Speaker 1: This was interesting. I did a little dig in this morning.
- 7:03Speaker 1: They had the same built in advantage that they had
- 7:05Speaker 1: en route to the Super Bowl last year. We're going
- 7:07Speaker 1: to talk about that. We'll see if it matters again
- 7:09Speaker 1: like you did last year. You want to go to
- 7:11Speaker 1: the World Cup here and see how We're gonna talk
- 7:13Speaker 1: about how ticket prices are coming down. We'll talk about
- 7:16Speaker 1: how and why and how low. They're not cheap still,
- 7:20Speaker 1: but they're cheaper. June, fifteenth month from today, thirty days
- 7:25Speaker 1: from today, thirty one day. Well, yeah, there's thirty one
- 7:27Speaker 1: days in June. In May, one month from today, the
- 7:31Speaker 1: first World Cup game at Lumenfield, we'll talk about tickets.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And how to get him.
- 7:36Speaker 1: At eleven o'clock, Like they mentioned at the top, Gary
- 7:38Speaker 1: Hill Junior, the Mariners broadcaster, is going to talk to us.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Always fun to talk to Gary, and he's always in
- 7:44Speaker 1: a good mood and pleasant. But he'll probably be so
- 7:46Speaker 1: after the three out of four his team that pays
- 7:49Speaker 1: him beat the trash Cans in Houston. I'm going to
- 7:51Speaker 1: ask him, Chris right off to that, did they make
- 7:53Speaker 1: a mistake him? He manette answer because he's a Marrin employee.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But did they make a mistake and.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Play Kyle Rawley about a week longer than they should have?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Probably not? Maybe so.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I guess if you look at it from your perspective,
- 8:05Speaker 2: there's still X amount of games left. Let's say they
- 8:08Speaker 2: push it all the way through the mid June. I
- 8:11Speaker 2: think then you could be like, damn, that might have.
- 8:13Speaker 2: You know, that's kind of tricky because you're more than
- 8:17Speaker 2: a third or the way through the season or fourth
- 8:18Speaker 2: away of the season on that and you depending on
- 8:21Speaker 2: how this AO West looks, ten games without him could
- 8:25Speaker 2: be like damn, that might hurt as opposed to doing
- 8:27Speaker 2: it now, like you said, get on it now. You
- 8:29Speaker 2: probably I know you said you won it last week,
- 8:31Speaker 2: but I don't think it'd be too late necessarily.
- 8:34Speaker 1: But my point is, did he get more hurt and
- 8:36Speaker 1: literally out longer because they have him, let him play.
- 8:39Speaker 2: They obviously given him the best drugs and get the
- 8:41Speaker 2: best trainers in there, get them right, y'ah.
- 8:43Speaker 1: They don't need to do drugs right now. They can
- 8:45Speaker 1: just rest, even have him just chill for two weeks.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I mean, there's no reason to rush him back at
- 8:51Speaker 1: this point. And I've said this. He could stay out
- 8:53Speaker 1: of month, he can stay out two months until July fifteenth,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and they're still going to win.
- 8:56Speaker 3: To do it.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Okay, let's pump the breaks, Let's not go too crazy.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Put him on a twenty minor league rehab.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Simon home runs off Jennie Field off of the community
- 9:06Speaker 1: college behind the outfield there. Let him go up to
- 9:09Speaker 1: evert and ping balls off the football stadium. Never That's
- 9:12Speaker 1: what I'd do. And then July fifteenth, see where the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Mariners are. I would bet you. I would bet listeners,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'd bet YouTube WHOAOA WHOA?
- 9:20Speaker 3: Are you too much?
- 9:21Speaker 1: He's too bet? I would I would bet nothing monetarily.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It's colloquially speaking, hypothetically speaking. I would bet that if
- 9:31Speaker 1: he missed two months till July fifteenth, the Mariners would
- 9:35Speaker 1: be within three games the first place, because the ao
- 9:38Speaker 1: West ain't going anywhere, is not You're one game over
- 9:41Speaker 1: under five hundred. You're still a game out of first place.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Shut him down, let him rest, take a mental break. Yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 1: he's a key to you. He's also a key to
- 9:50Speaker 1: the pitching staff. As people on the text line have
- 9:52Speaker 1: pointed out, that is true. Though, Mitch Garver your home
- 9:56Speaker 1: run again yesterday. He quitted himself well at catching. He
- 9:59Speaker 1: is uncamp any challenges.
- 10:02Speaker 3: I bet bet he.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I can't remember him missing a challenge, both as a
- 10:05Speaker 1: batter but mainly as a catcher. He was right on
- 10:08Speaker 1: again yesterday. Garb has been good for them. I mean,
- 10:13Speaker 1: this town took it to Bucky in particular, took it
- 10:16Speaker 1: to Mitch Garver all last season. They need him now
- 10:19Speaker 1: it's now that cal Rawley is the having. Johnny Prato's
- 10:22Speaker 1: course is up from Triple A.
- 10:24Speaker 3: To come A four nine, four to five one.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Do you think the Mariners waited till I made a
- 10:29Speaker 1: mistake on the cal Raley handling of his injury? He
- 10:32Speaker 1: was obviously hurting, he was getting treatment each day while
- 10:34Speaker 1: he was playing and going oh for forty And how
- 10:38Speaker 1: concerned are you about his absence? I'm not at all.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I think he could stay out a week or month,
- 10:44Speaker 1: two months and the Mariners are still going to be
- 10:46Speaker 1: right there to win the division. That's theirs for the taking.
- 10:49Speaker 3: You agree?
- 10:49Speaker 1: And how concerned are you with cal Rawley? Four nine,
- 10:51Speaker 1: four to five on and we'll read back your text
- 10:53Speaker 1: at eleven thirty Share some of your funny anecdotes. I
- 10:56Speaker 1: haven't watched all thirty two of the NFL schedule releases,
- 10:59Speaker 1: so I don't know how funny or I didn't know
- 11:01Speaker 1: Tampa Bays, for instance. But if you want to share those,
- 11:05Speaker 1: then we can go point them out. If there's something arable, Chris,
- 11:08Speaker 1: if you've come across something you think they'll play on radio, No.
- 11:10Speaker 2: You're I think you noted it's tough. I mean I
- 11:12Speaker 2: did like the seat, the charges versus the Seahawks. They
- 11:15Speaker 2: talked about the legion of Boom so that was kind
- 11:17Speaker 2: of cool. Had a Marshall reference, Yeah, they had.
- 11:20Speaker 1: They had a fact that they said Pike Place Market
- 11:22Speaker 1: was for sale. They called it twelfth Place, twelfth Man
- 11:26Speaker 1: something around the sale. Yeah, I thought that was cool.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think that was a snide shot at everything everybody
- 11:33Speaker 1: leaving Seattle, corporate people leaving Seattle, like Starbucks and whatnot.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I think that that might have been a reference. So
- 11:40Speaker 1: but yeah, they didn't take it. They didn't go too
- 11:43Speaker 1: hard after How can you go after the Seahawks they're
- 11:45Speaker 1: Super Bowl?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, what do you give me? Tread Lightley here baby.
- 11:51Speaker 1: And the Koma Dodge text on anything else you want
- 11:53Speaker 1: to talk about, we'll read it back. Oh, you can
- 11:56Speaker 1: put comments in the YouTube and not that Chris is
- 11:58Speaker 1: monitoring that as religion, but put comments in the YouTube feedback?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Do you look at that?
- 12:04Speaker 2: To be honest, I used the text line more than anything.
- 12:08Speaker 2: It'd be nice if everyone used YouTube more. So that's
- 12:10Speaker 2: something I'm sure when we have our meeting, which aka
- 12:14Speaker 2: Purple Sheet's gonna be like, hey, guys, there are some
- 12:16Speaker 2: comments on.
- 12:17Speaker 1: There that we'd just rather stay away for him to
- 12:19Speaker 1: just out of left field or even worse, so.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Well, we get those everywhere.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Did you read the Steve Kerr article that Right Thompson
- 12:25Speaker 1: wrote for ESPN dot com. I did not very interesting.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I was it took. I was on an exercise bike
- 12:31Speaker 1: for an hour in the gym and it still wasn't
- 12:33Speaker 1: done with it. Yesterday reading the whole thing, it made
- 12:35Speaker 1: the ride go a lot quicker. But right Thompson's really
- 12:39Speaker 1: great introspective writer. He talks about Steve Kerr's entire Warriors
- 12:43Speaker 1: season and how debilitating his back pain has been, how
- 12:48Speaker 1: it has affected him throughout his coaching career, how he
- 12:51Speaker 1: had decided the final week of the regular season, just
- 12:54Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, that he was done. He
- 12:56Speaker 1: was quitting the Warriors. He had told his wife. He
- 12:59Speaker 1: told right Thompson that, and then they beat They won
- 13:03Speaker 1: their Clipper down in the into a dome in Englewood.
- 13:06Speaker 1: They beat the Clippers in the first playing game, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: he said, I'm staying.
- 13:10Speaker 3: This is why I do it.
- 13:12Speaker 1: The brotherhood, the camaraderie of the team. For one night
- 13:15Speaker 1: we were back to our champion seals. We beat the Clippers.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Then they lost the next playing game against Phoenix and
- 13:22Speaker 1: that was that the end of their season. And then
- 13:24Speaker 1: sure enough last week the Warriors announcing that Steve Kerr
- 13:28Speaker 1: is returning on a two year contract to remain as.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Coach of the Warriors.
- 13:31Speaker 1: There was a talk, of course, that he might come
- 13:33Speaker 1: up here to be the president of the New Sonics
- 13:35Speaker 1: once the expansion team is awarded. That's not happening, at
- 13:38Speaker 1: least for time being a foreseeable future. And in that
- 13:41Speaker 1: article with Ray Thompson, Steve Cris said, I have no
- 13:44Speaker 1: interest in being an executive. I want to be a coach.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I want to be with players on the floor, in practices,
- 13:49Speaker 1: on the road trips, three am arrivals back from road game.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I won all of that.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So he doesn't want to be a suit. So the
- 13:55Speaker 1: New Sonics can probably cool their jets on any idea
- 13:58Speaker 1: that they might hire someone like Steve Kerr to be
- 14:00Speaker 1: the administrator. If you didn't read the article right Thompson
- 14:03Speaker 1: ESPN dot Com, very good. You're gonna have to set
- 14:05Speaker 1: aside more time than you would for the Chargers release
- 14:07Speaker 1: schedule because it is long they said to me an hour,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and I wasn't even done with the whole thing. But
- 14:13Speaker 1: it was worth your time if you're a basketball or
- 14:15Speaker 1: just interested in human There is a lot to Steve Kerr.
- 14:19Speaker 1: His father being assassinated when he was the president of
- 14:21Speaker 1: the American University in Beirut. He was when Steve Kerr
- 14:25Speaker 1: was a freshman at the University of Arizona, and how
- 14:28Speaker 1: that has continued to affect him and shape him as
- 14:32Speaker 1: a man, as a person, as a leader. He's been
- 14:34Speaker 1: outspoken for gun control in this country. He's been outsmoking
- 14:37Speaker 1: against extremism both in politics and in our society. It's
- 14:41Speaker 1: a very interesting article to read by Right Thompson on
- 14:44Speaker 1: Steve Kerr. Up next, we're going to go deep into
- 14:47Speaker 1: the gritty on the Seahawks' schedule and how the NFL
- 14:50Speaker 1: did him a couple solids. But right now we're going
- 14:52Speaker 1: to go live to Westwood One with the update on
- 14:55Speaker 1: the PGA Championship. On ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome
- 15:06Speaker 1: back Chris Kids, getting punky a little bit with it
- 15:10Speaker 1: this segment of the Gregbus Show. Christopher Canada, ninety three
- 15:13Speaker 1: point three KGFM. Happy Friday to you, one thing I
- 15:17Speaker 1: wanted to mention. The text line brought up as well.
- 15:19Speaker 1: The Everett Silver Tips are one game from the Memorial Cup,
- 15:22Speaker 1: the championship round of the Western Hockey League. They have
- 15:26Speaker 1: never been there before. They had a team record fifty
- 15:28Speaker 1: seven wins this season, and now they have a three
- 15:30Speaker 1: to one lead on Prince Albert, going Albert going to
- 15:34Speaker 1: back to Canada for Game six. They have two chances
- 15:39Speaker 1: now to game five. Excuse me. If they lose Game five, ever,
- 15:43Speaker 1: we'll come back into Silver Tips will play at home
- 15:45Speaker 1: for games six and seven, So three chances to win
- 15:49Speaker 1: a berth into their first ever Memorial Cup in the
- 15:51Speaker 1: Western Hockey League gets off to the Tips up in Everett.
- 15:55Speaker 1: The Mariners' schedule, excuse me. The Seahawks go Amerginers schedule
- 15:59Speaker 1: was the San Diego def are coming to the Yard
- 16:00Speaker 1: tonight for first of a three game series and to
- 16:03Speaker 1: start a homestam. The Seahawks schedule, the headline is, of course,
- 16:07Speaker 1: that there are six primetime games. That's a team record,
- 16:10Speaker 1: one short of the most in NFL history. I will
- 16:13Speaker 1: say there's a good chance at seven. Because the league
- 16:17Speaker 1: and the networks obviously valued the Rams. Seahawks games to
- 16:20Speaker 1: those two division games as two of the more attractive
- 16:24Speaker 1: games on the league schedule. They put the first one
- 16:26Speaker 1: here in Seattle on Christmas Night five point fifteen start
- 16:30Speaker 1: on Fox on Christmas on a Friday. We'll talk about
- 16:33Speaker 1: that in a minute too, and specifically the game before
- 16:36Speaker 1: that Christmas game and how the league did them a
- 16:38Speaker 1: favor Seahawks. And then the final week of the season,
- 16:42Speaker 1: Week eighteen, the Seahawks will go to Englewood to play
- 16:45Speaker 1: the Rams. That very well could be a Sunday night game,
- 16:49Speaker 1: the final game of the regular season if it is
- 16:52Speaker 1: indeed what the network expect in the league expects for
- 16:54Speaker 1: the division title agame. So they didn't, that'd be your
- 16:57Speaker 1: seventh one. They could flex it a sixth day window,
- 17:00Speaker 1: flex it to the final game of the regular season
- 17:03Speaker 1: if it is going to be for the division title.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Of course, last year determined the number one seed as well.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But Chris is more to me than the primetime games.
- 17:13Speaker 1: They have really unusual swaths of consecutive home games. They
- 17:17Speaker 1: have two sets of back to back home dates, and
- 17:21Speaker 1: then they have three in a row. I can't remember
- 17:23Speaker 1: since I've covered the team three straight home games, and
- 17:28Speaker 1: that's so from the start. In fact, from the start
- 17:32Speaker 1: of October into mid November, they play four of five
- 17:36Speaker 1: games at home right in the middle of the season,
- 17:39Speaker 1: with the at Denver game on Thursday night in Week
- 17:41Speaker 1: six is the only one that's away from Seattle, but
- 17:45Speaker 1: of course those while they are at home four out
- 17:48Speaker 1: of five those teams they're playing or no cupcakes. That
- 17:52Speaker 1: stretch includes the Chargers at home, the forty nine Ers
- 17:56Speaker 1: at home at Denver, then home games against Kansas City
- 18:00Speaker 1: on a Sunday night, Chicago on a Monday night, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: then they have Arizona on a Sunday Chris the bye
- 18:06Speaker 1: I mentioned this week eleven, November twenty second. You know,
- 18:09Speaker 1: they got two weeks before the two games before the bye,
- 18:12Speaker 1: the Seahawks play Arizona and the Raiders.
- 18:16Speaker 3: So they got three buys in a row pretty much.
- 18:20Speaker 1: They play at San Francisco the final Sunday of November,
- 18:24Speaker 1: another back to back home Dallas on a Monday night,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and the Giants on Sunday, December the thirteenth. Okay, so
- 18:31Speaker 1: Christmas Day, they're playing on a Friday, because Christmas on
- 18:33Speaker 1: a Friday. The NFL is going all in on Christmas
- 18:37Speaker 1: games because the ratings are just off the charts. So
- 18:40Speaker 1: ram Seahawks when that first came out for a Christmas
- 18:43Speaker 1: Day I said, oh, a big, big game like that
- 18:46Speaker 1: with a short week, right, if they play on Sunday,
- 18:49Speaker 1: it's only a four day rest between. Not optimal. The
- 18:52Speaker 1: teams are getting used to that with all the Thursday
- 18:54Speaker 1: games they have to play now. But the NFL did
- 18:56Speaker 1: the Seahawks a solid there. The game before the cris
- 19:00Speaker 1: Christmas game. They have the Seahawks playing at Philadelphia on
- 19:03Speaker 1: a Saturday, so one earlier day than normal. Not only that,
- 19:07Speaker 1: because they're playing at two pm Seattle time. It's the
- 19:10Speaker 1: first of a doubleheader. It's a two pm Pacific time
- 19:15Speaker 1: start in Philadelphia. Saturday, December nineteen, Seahawks at Eagles. So
- 19:19Speaker 1: they're going to get on a plane and the Seahawks
- 19:20Speaker 1: will be home probably around midnight.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Or so Seattle time.
- 19:24Speaker 1: You know, figured a three hour game start to five
- 19:26Speaker 1: pm Philadelphia time, gets over to eight eight thirty, tend
- 19:29Speaker 1: to get out ten ish lead by ten thirty eleven
- 19:34Speaker 1: the three hour time change. They'll get home around midnight
- 19:38Speaker 1: twelve thirty one o'clock. That's much different than a night
- 19:41Speaker 1: game on the East Coast. Usually the Seahawks get home
- 19:43Speaker 1: at about five or six am. They just fly all
- 19:47Speaker 1: night and they land at nine o'clock East Coast time
- 19:50Speaker 1: where they just played when they have Washington on a
- 19:52Speaker 1: Sunday night, for instance last year. Not so with this
- 19:56Speaker 1: game before Christmas. Meanwhile, the rat that second Saturday game
- 20:00Speaker 1: is not involving the Rams, it's Bears at Bills. So
- 20:04Speaker 1: the Seahawks are going to have a plus one on
- 20:06Speaker 1: the rest advantage with the Rams playing the Sunday before
- 20:09Speaker 1: Christmas and the Seahawks playing the Saturday before Christmas. That's
- 20:13Speaker 1: the NFL doing the Seahawks a solid there. But this
- 20:16Speaker 1: rest thing goes a little bit further than that. Chris,
- 20:21Speaker 1: I was looking at this last year because.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I was saying, Wow, this schedule is really lining up
- 20:25Speaker 3: for the Seahawks.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Last year, the Seahawks had a plus eight differential in
- 20:31Speaker 1: days rest advantage over the teams they played based on
- 20:33Speaker 1: the schedule and when the other teams played and when
- 20:35Speaker 1: they played. Well, guess what it is this year, plus eight.
- 20:41Speaker 1: They have a three day advantage on Arizona Week two,
- 20:44Speaker 1: because the Seahawks play on Wednesday in Arizona plays on
- 20:47Speaker 1: a Sunday they have a plus two advantage on Kansas
- 20:50Speaker 1: City when they play that Sunday night game here. Now
- 20:55Speaker 1: they lose to when the Bears. The Bears coming in
- 20:57Speaker 1: here on a Monday night they played the previous Thursday
- 21:00Speaker 1: night against the Patriots, while the Seahawks play a Sunday
- 21:03Speaker 1: game before that, so they lose to their They lose
- 21:05Speaker 1: one against the Arizona Cardinals when they play them the
- 21:08Speaker 1: second time, but the big one that gives the Seahawks
- 21:11Speaker 1: the one they're already bitching about in.
- 21:13Speaker 3: The Bay Area.
- 21:15Speaker 1: The forty nine er fans love the gripe about anything,
- 21:17Speaker 1: but they love the gripe about this too. The Seahawks
- 21:20Speaker 1: have a bye before they play the forty nine Ers
- 21:23Speaker 1: in Santa Clara November twenty ninth, while the forty nine
- 21:26Speaker 1: Ers will be playing that weekend that the Seahawks are off.
- 21:29Speaker 3: So that's a plus seven days rest.
- 21:32Speaker 1: For the Seahawks over the forty nine Ers. The forty
- 21:35Speaker 1: nine er fans are already griping about this in May,
- 21:37Speaker 1: about how the Seahawks Super Bowl champions are going to
- 21:40Speaker 1: come in to Santa Clara having had the bye week
- 21:43Speaker 1: before they play the forty nine Ers, but that makes
- 21:46Speaker 1: up the bulk of the Seahawks plus eight rest differential.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Then you go down the list.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Dallas is playing on Thanksgiving the previous Thursday, so they
- 21:58Speaker 1: get an actually two day advantage on the Seahalk when
- 22:00Speaker 1: they come in here and play in the early December
- 22:03Speaker 1: Giants Seahawks are minus one the rams I mentioned, the
- 22:07Speaker 1: Seahawks are plus one and the rest differential on that
- 22:09Speaker 1: Christmas Day I already mentioned, and then the card the
- 22:13Speaker 1: Carolina game Week seventeen, they're going to be plus one
- 22:15Speaker 1: or plus two over the Panthers in rest, depending on
- 22:19Speaker 1: a flex game between the previous week between the Panthers
- 22:22Speaker 1: and the Steelers.
- 22:24Speaker 3: It's whether going to be a Saturday or Sunday previous
- 22:26Speaker 3: to that Week seventeen game.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So anyway, it's a total of plus eight or potentially
- 22:30Speaker 1: plus nine for the Seahawks and arrest differential. They had
- 22:33Speaker 1: plus eight last year and went to the Super Bowl.
- 22:35Speaker 1: There are all kinds of studies that on this rest differential,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and some have theorized that because the latest collective bargaining
- 22:42Speaker 1: agreement in the NFL mandated four off days during a
- 22:46Speaker 1: bye week of no practices that the rest differential, how
- 22:50Speaker 1: it matters and results of games has lessened. It's funny
- 22:54Speaker 1: to read about Chris that they put in the CBA
- 22:57Speaker 1: that four days off is mandatory during a bye week.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Around here in Seattle, they've had eight days off since
- 23:03Speaker 1: Pete Carroll became the coach. For seventeen years, they've had
- 23:06Speaker 1: the entire week off. Carol was one of the first
- 23:09Speaker 1: in the NFL to do that. Mike McDonald has continued
- 23:12Speaker 1: that trend that as soon as the game ends on Sunday,
- 23:15Speaker 1: you're off until the following Sunday night when we come
- 23:18Speaker 1: back from meetings, and then they have practice on Monday
- 23:20Speaker 1: and away they go for the next game week. That
- 23:24Speaker 1: is not the norm in the NFL. Had not been
- 23:25Speaker 1: the norm at all when Pete Carroll got here in
- 23:27Speaker 1: two thousand and Now it's become increasingly in the norm.
- 23:29Speaker 1: But the Collective Barney Agreement now mandates at least four
- 23:32Speaker 1: days that they have to have off that by weekend,
- 23:35Speaker 1: so some teams still do practice.
- 23:37Speaker 3: But yeah, the rest thing.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You talk to the players and they notice they going
- 23:43Speaker 1: into a game, they notice if the team they played
- 23:45Speaker 1: just played on the previous Monday.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Night, for instance, or whatnot.
- 23:49Speaker 1: But even that There's one interesting tidbit about this rest thing.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I'm going to about the Chargers game in Week four.
- 23:57Speaker 1: The Chargers come up here to Seattle, there's a plus
- 24:01Speaker 1: zeros a push. They both the Seahawks and the Chargers
- 24:04Speaker 1: played the previous Sunday, so there's no pushing days. But
- 24:07Speaker 1: you look into the schedule, the Chargers are playing at
- 24:10Speaker 1: Buffalo the previous Sunday, then they fly home, and then
- 24:13Speaker 1: they got to fly again back up to Seattle for
- 24:15Speaker 1: a second consecutive road game, while the Seahawks will be
- 24:18Speaker 1: coming from Washington. So that's it is interesting because the
- 24:23Speaker 1: West Coast teams, in particular travel and dates and all
- 24:26Speaker 1: this does matter. When you're like Pittsburgh or Chicago or
- 24:29Speaker 1: Cleveland and you only have about eight thousand travel miles
- 24:32Speaker 1: a year, it's not a big deal. But when you
- 24:34Speaker 1: got twenty five thirty one thousand miles of travel, this
- 24:37Speaker 1: rest day stuff does matter, and it certainly matters to
- 24:40Speaker 1: the player's bodies. But I just found it interesting that
- 24:42Speaker 1: the Seahawks had the same net rest advantage in number
- 24:46Speaker 1: of days that they did last season too. Do you
- 24:50Speaker 1: think this matters or you think this is all bunk?
- 24:53Speaker 3: I think it all matters. I tell you, it matters
- 24:55Speaker 3: during the season of the players that they noticed that.
- 24:57Speaker 2: It matters immensely football here. We're not talking about track
- 25:02Speaker 2: and field or something. No discredit to those guys, but
- 25:04Speaker 2: this takes awear in your body. Man, this is not
- 25:07Speaker 2: I mean that stretch from October fourth through the fifteenth,
- 25:11Speaker 2: three games in like twelve days, that is crazy.
- 25:16Speaker 3: And they notice that too.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Not to mention they're on the road for that final game.
- 25:20Speaker 2: They're traveling. I know it's not you know, ten thousand
- 25:23Speaker 2: miles or anything, but I mean, wow, yeah, that's I
- 25:27Speaker 2: guess they do get caught up later on this season.
- 25:29Speaker 2: As you mentioned, it's plus eight, so that's good for them.
- 25:31Speaker 2: But man, that first from the Chargers through that Broncos game,
- 25:35Speaker 2: that's a brutal stretch right there.
- 25:36Speaker 3: That's that's tough traveling wise.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Hey, look, I get it. They're millionaire athletes. And if
- 25:40Speaker 1: you're Joe Cabby driving around Seattle right now, you're like,
- 25:42Speaker 1: don't give me this. The guy's making ten million. He
- 25:44Speaker 1: can suck it down for three games and twelve discs
- 25:48Speaker 1: relative to other teams. I'm just telling you this stuff
- 25:51Speaker 1: and the player rest does matter. To them in their bodies,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and I just I say it again, if you could
- 25:58Speaker 1: be in an NFL locker room from Wednesday after a
- 26:03Speaker 1: Sunday game.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Guys can't walk.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They just not functioning and sometimes they can't function properly,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and just be every day walk and get out of
- 26:11Speaker 1: bed until after Thursday, and if they got to play
- 26:13Speaker 1: Thursday night games a lot of the times. At eleven o'clock,
- 26:17Speaker 1: we're talking to Gary Hill Junior, the Marinas broadcasters, back
- 26:19Speaker 1: from the road trip and getting ready to prepare for
- 26:21Speaker 1: a homestand broadcasting Marina games, including tonight at home against
- 26:24Speaker 1: the San Diego Padres. Up next, you want to go
- 26:27Speaker 1: to the World Cup here in Seattle. One month from
- 26:30Speaker 1: today is the first four first round matches. Ticket prices
- 26:34Speaker 1: are going down. We'll tell you by how much. If
- 26:37Speaker 1: you've been waiting, you could be in luck. That's next
- 26:39Speaker 1: on ninety three point three KJRFM. A lot of that
- 26:50Speaker 1: to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher kitt on ninety
- 26:52Speaker 1: three point three KJRFM. As I mentioned at the top,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I'll be out next week. I'm going to my whole families.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Get non plane, mother, mother in laws, everybody, get on
- 27:04Speaker 1: a plane to go to Boston see our daughter graduate
- 27:06Speaker 1: from the US Coast Guard Academy next week. Anderson Hurst
- 27:10Speaker 1: is going to Coast with Chris on Monday. Ashley Ryan
- 27:13Speaker 1: will host with Chris on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Mike
- 27:16Speaker 1: Betton will be on Thursday. I'll be back on Friday.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Chris is never too early to set betting lines on
- 27:22Speaker 1: week one of an NFL season, including in May. Of course,
- 27:25Speaker 1: not man, you don't know who the rosters are, right
- 27:30Speaker 1: the Seahawks. My buddy Jimmy Shapiro. Bet Online Sports has
- 27:35Speaker 1: the Seahawks as a four point favorite over the Patriots
- 27:37Speaker 1: in Week one, the league opening game September ninth.
- 27:42Speaker 3: To your put your money down, Now, what are you
- 27:44Speaker 3: waiting on? That's rights.
- 27:47Speaker 1: It makes me chuckle, But okay, that's what people are
- 27:50Speaker 1: apparently doing futures betting, I guess well, speaking in the future.
- 27:55Speaker 1: One month from today, the World Cup comes to Seattle.
- 27:58Speaker 1: The World comes to Seattle. Belgium and Egypt will play
- 28:00Speaker 1: at Newman's Field in the first of four first round
- 28:04Speaker 1: games of the FIFA twenty twenty six World Cup. It's
- 28:07Speaker 1: expanded to forty eight teams for the first time this year.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It's going to be in three countries, Canada, Mexico, and
- 28:13Speaker 1: the United States on the West Coast. It's going to
- 28:15Speaker 1: be in Vancouver at BC Place. It's going to be
- 28:17Speaker 1: at Blue Jeans Stadium in Santa Clara in the Bay Area,
- 28:21Speaker 1: and it's going to be in Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles.
- 28:23Speaker 3: And it's going to be here in Seattle.
- 28:26Speaker 1: A lot of talk over the last months about how
- 28:29Speaker 1: expensive the United States venues are making tickets to the
- 28:33Speaker 1: World Cup, pricing everybody out. I mean, you have to
- 28:36Speaker 1: be a tycoon and an oil baron to afford some
- 28:40Speaker 1: of these tickets while they're coming down. Sofia swaz Walder
- 28:46Speaker 1: is a new writer for the Seattle Time. She's actually
- 28:48Speaker 1: called me the day I got this job about the
- 28:51Speaker 1: new job here at KJR, a new show host.
- 28:54Speaker 3: She wrote a story about that. I appreciate it in
- 28:56Speaker 3: The Times.
- 28:57Speaker 1: She wrote a story today, Sophia did about ticket prices
- 29:01Speaker 1: dropping from where they were too just a couple of
- 29:05Speaker 1: weeks ago.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I just checked. If you want to go.
- 29:08Speaker 1: To the United States first match in Seattle against Australia,
- 29:13Speaker 1: first round match that is on Friday, the nineteenth of June,
- 29:20Speaker 1: it'll cost you about eight hundred and thirty four dollars
- 29:23Speaker 1: is a get in price that's still ridiculous, but it's
- 29:27Speaker 1: less ridiculous than it was. Even a couple of weeks ago.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That price was over seventeen hundred dollars and early in
- 29:35Speaker 1: the spring. Now it's down to almost half that eight
- 29:38Speaker 1: hundred and thirty four. So suffice to say, keep waiting.
- 29:42Speaker 1: The trend is down. The cheapest get in price for
- 29:47Speaker 1: Belgium and Egypt is down around five hundred dollars. Egypt
- 29:54Speaker 1: is playing Iran as well, that is the cheapest of
- 29:57Speaker 1: the four games. Well, actually Bosnia Harrisgovina against Cutter also
- 30:01Speaker 1: first round in Seattle. Both those games are a little
- 30:04Speaker 1: over two hundred dollars to get in right now. So
- 30:06Speaker 1: if you just want the experience of going to a
- 30:08Speaker 1: World Cup match right now, you can get in for
- 30:12Speaker 1: a little over two hundred dollars. Now, you might be
- 30:14Speaker 1: sitting in a three hundred level, of course, but when
- 30:17Speaker 1: you go to the FIFA website to try to buy
- 30:19Speaker 1: tickets that way, they really try to push you to
- 30:21Speaker 1: the VIP packages and the suites on the field, the
- 30:26Speaker 1: really expensive ones, and they FIFA has been criticized for
- 30:31Speaker 1: segmenting stadiums taking away seats that would have been sold
- 30:34Speaker 1: otherwise as block of tickets to regular folks, are selling
- 30:38Speaker 1: them as VIP packages with a bunch of other do
- 30:42Speaker 1: dads and hotel stays and whatnot. But I've found so
- 30:46Speaker 1: far in my quick search that it's a little easier
- 30:50Speaker 1: to go to the secondary website stub hub and see
- 30:52Speaker 1: geek or whatnot, then straight to the FIFA website. Although
- 30:56Speaker 1: the FIFA website will advertise that, for instance, the cheapest
- 30:59Speaker 1: ticket they can it is some six seven hundred dollars
- 31:02Speaker 1: for the USA Australia match Chris.
- 31:05Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. I mean there are.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. Let's just put it that way. And it's
- 31:11Speaker 1: a trickle down effect. We've heard stories of cities, including
- 31:14Speaker 1: in Seattle, where hotel vacancies are way higher than they
- 31:18Speaker 1: expected them to be because people are not coming from
- 31:21Speaker 1: other countries to pay this much in ticket prices. They're
- 31:24Speaker 1: not going to spend eight hundred dollars a ticket to
- 31:26Speaker 1: see their team play, on top of how much it's
- 31:29Speaker 1: going to cost to fly to the United States, on
- 31:31Speaker 1: top of hotel raids. This is the world's game. These
- 31:36Speaker 1: should be the world's games. The people that around the
- 31:40Speaker 1: world should be able to afford coming here instead of
- 31:43Speaker 1: the United States doing what it often does and turning
- 31:45Speaker 1: capitalism into a profit for a select few, and that
- 31:50Speaker 1: hurts the overall sporting experience. In my mind, this is
- 31:53Speaker 1: the world's game and it should be accessible to everyone
- 31:56Speaker 1: in the world. Are you curious at all to go
- 31:58Speaker 1: to you don't want any part of it? I'm good, Yeah, thanks,
- 32:02Speaker 1: but no, thanks even for two hundred dollars, even for
- 32:04Speaker 1: one hundred dollars.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I'm good. It'll be on TV.
- 32:07Speaker 1: There you go, four five one and it's coming dods
- 32:10Speaker 1: text on We'll be back at eleven thirty. Are these
- 32:12Speaker 1: ticket prices keeping you away? And otherwise you'd go? Are
- 32:15Speaker 1: you gonna go anywhere? And you're just waiting on the
- 32:17Speaker 1: prices to go down? Or you had like Chris and
- 32:20Speaker 1: saying nope, I'm good. I don't need any of this.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I know there are some anti soccer people out here,
- 32:24Speaker 1: but I know there are many, many, many pro soccer people,
