Good morning from the chicken coop.
• 0:30
So today we are talking about, rewiring your days and this is a
• 0:36
subject that's very fascinating to me because most people show
• 0:40
up for coaching and they think, oh my gosh, I don't know how I'm
• 0:44
going to do this. I don't know how I'm going to
• 0:47
change, I don't know the particulars of any of this and
• 0:49
they get overwhelmed before they even start.
• 0:51
And one of the simplest things that I really have to have
• 0:57
everybody understand right at the, from the very beginning of
• 1:00
working with Coaching with me is that you are a creature of
• 1:04
habit, you are a creature of patterns and it is possible to
• 1:09
change like you have to believe it's possible to change.
• 1:12
And by changing your patterns, even the simplest of patterns,
• 1:15
things, start to evolve. So, there are estimates out
• 1:19
there that we have between 60 and 80 thousand thoughts a day.
• 1:22
I mean, think about that, that's insane that that a person can
• 1:25
have that many thoughts. First of all, it always
• 1:27
fascinates me as to how they track this but they do And sixty
• 1:32
to eighty thousand thoughts a day.
• 1:34
The kicker is two-thirds of them are repeated from the day
• 1:37
before. Now, that's even more insane,
• 1:40
when you think about the, how the human brain works.
• 1:43
And when you repeat things, they become part of who you are.
• 1:46
So most of us learned multiplication that way where we
• 1:49
were just drilled wrote learned it over and over and over and
• 1:52
over until we could recite it and do it quickly.
• 1:55
So that we knew those basic fundamentals.
• 1:59
Which is the the Crux of how your brain likes to work.
• 2:03
Repetition is the mother of skill for human beings.
• 2:06
And once we do it, we can do it better and better and better and
• 2:09
better. But they're really hard thing to
• 2:11
understand. Is if the patterns are not
• 2:14
resourceful, you are repeating them anyway.
• 2:18
You are becoming more resourceful at the unrest or
• 2:22
social activity. So think about what I just said
• 2:25
if it's a destructive activity and you do it more and more and
• 2:28
you become better at the Active activity, you're still going to,
• 2:31
it's going to be a pattern. It's still going to affect you.
• 2:34
You can't just get away from it because it's destructive, you
• 2:37
know, and we have patterns in everything.
• 2:38
We do, think about how you take a shower, you go and get in the
• 2:42
shower, in the morning or the evening.
• 2:43
Whenever you do, you're showering and boom.
• 2:46
All of a sudden, you wash the same way.
• 2:49
You have the same pattern of how you wash yourself, how you do
• 2:51
your hair. Same thing about how you blow
• 2:54
dry your hair or how you shave brush your teeth.
• 2:57
You always start in the same spot for most.
• 2:59
People, it is very driven. The side of the bed, they sleep
• 3:02
on, how they put their clothes on, try to put your sneakers and
• 3:06
socks on differently and watch how your brain goes.
• 3:08
Wait, what? Because it's so conditioned.
• 3:11
So the point of this is rewiring, your brain is very
• 3:17
simple in the sense that you change the pattern of how you do
• 3:20
something and then everything else gets scrambled.
• 3:24
So let's say you want to start your day off and you want to
• 3:26
start meditating. And you've always said, I want
• 3:28
to meditate I know it's good for me, I hear how great it is but I
• 3:32
just can't seem to get it. I struggle with it.
• 3:35
Part of the problem is you are trying to insert something new
• 3:38
into Old patterns. So I will often tell my clients.
• 3:42
The best way to do that is to start scrambling your patterns
• 3:46
now for any Seinfeld fans out there.
• 3:48
If you're a big Seinfeld fan and I am a big Seinfeld fan, there
• 3:52
was an episode where George was talking about opposite George
• 3:55
and he was going to do opposite of everything that George ever
• 3:58
talked about. And it was so great because he
• 4:00
was scrambling his own patterns right down to if he ordered tuna
• 4:03
salad. Now, he was going to order egg
• 4:05
salad. He was going to order coffee, he
• 4:07
would. Normally now are always order
• 4:09
coffee, he would now or dirty, he's scrambling the simplest of
• 4:13
patterns and then the others become open to interpretation
• 4:17
and you can allow new things to happen.
• 4:20
It's kind of like your trip tricking your brain.
• 4:22
You're just saying if I always walk to my left and now I walk
• 4:25
to my right and while I'm walking to my right, I think of
• 4:28
something else. I want to do it becomes easier.
• 4:31
So right from the morning, let's say we're going to add in the
• 4:34
meditation. You wake up in the morning
• 4:36
instead of going in and you know doing your day like you normally
• 4:42
would grabbing your phone, checking your text messages, or
• 4:44
emails, or whatever you say, no, I'm not going to do that, you
• 4:47
get up, you drink water and you go and you meditate first right
• 4:51
  away. You've scrambled your brain
• 4:52
because you're not looking at the old pattern and doing the
• 4:56
phone or whatever. Now, obviously you probably have
• 4:59
EP in there. First, you get up.
• 5:00
I know. I'm just saying that.
• 5:02
  Don't touch the typical patterns.
• 5:04
It's okay, though to get up and pee first.
• 5:06
If you need to, or get up and brush your teeth and P fine, but
• 5:10
talk about it in the sense of the big stuff that you're going
• 5:12
to move around so that your brain does not have the same
• 5:15
  response. I promise you.
• 5:18
If you try this technique, you're going to be astounded as
• 5:21
to how different you feel right away because it really doesn't
• 5:24
matter if you're going for a walk or you're meditating or you
• 5:26
decide to read or you decide to change the smallest of small
• 5:30
things, the one shift in the morning, makes all the
• 5:32
difference so work on this and practice it scramble as much as
• 5:38
you can and then try putting the new things in because I promise
• 5:43
you when you do it, it will interrupt those old patterns and
• 5:46
then you have the opportunity to put in the new ones you want.
• 5:50
I hope you all have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
