- 0:07[SPEAKER_05]: I'm back to surprise that you're a rant line, rape line, whatever it is, it's completely full.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: What can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_05]: Can I blame Michael Cassfield for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Scratch, claw, up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_04]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_04]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_04]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_05]: or you can't believe USC is undefeated in the SEC.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_05]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_03]: What the record oh no.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: everybody welcome back to reddit for a radio episode 625 coming to a monday October 13th we're gonna look back at USC's big 31 13 win over the Michigan Wolverines at the Coliseum give you our thoughts give you your thoughts because you guys called in you dialed in
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: You e-mail, you did all those things, okay?

- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: As always, you can follow social media, re-enactrate, email us, re-entrayfense.com and our phone number eight one eight six four three seven two seven seconds.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm your host, Michael Castilla, journal, back up host.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: Here in the re-entray studio, I'm Los Angeles, Alicia Derrittal.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, everybody.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, we're here to talk about the ranked U.S.E.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: Terrogens.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: We are indeed.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the Terrogens back in the polls.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: just get right into.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: We don't even need to press the news, but Nancy back in the polls at number 20.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm honestly proud of you more than anything else.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: You had a long, long Saturday.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: I did, Indie.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: He's working.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_03]: You're your fancite.com, shift per se.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: You did the the AP poll prediction.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_03]: Over at fancite.com, putting a lot of work.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_03]: I
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: I sort of, you know, we talked it out of like, okay, who should move out, who should do this?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, I think SE'll be number 20.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: And well, in behold, the AP poll comes out on Sunday morning, USC is number 2-0-20.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: Enailed it.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: They are.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they get something, right?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: In the rankings projections, we usually get more wrong than we get, right?
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: But when you get something right, you feel good about it?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: You don't look like good about it.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, it just felt right.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that USC, when you consider their record relative to everybody else's record in college football, when you consider their loan loss on the road, and now a big, emphatic win at the Coliseum against a big brand, then yeah, I think it makes sense for USC to move up.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: into into the top 20.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Remember that polls are multi-dimensional and that teams moving up or down sometimes isn't about what they did and it's about more about what other teams did.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: There were teams that fell out of the top 25 that opened the door for USC to climb up that many steps.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that USC played like a top 20 team on Saturday.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's well-warranted.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: No, I agree.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think I see play like a top 20 team.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: If they keep playing the way that they played on Saturday, then they, I think, will sort of cement themselves and say, if nothing else, the top 17 team.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_03]: The thing that we've talked about, Ednauseum, you look at the metrics over at FII, SC underly could rally like every year, somewhere between 16 and 18, every single season, but they haven't finished there.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: and they need to show that they can actually meet their on-field record to what the metrics say.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: as his hands there's a closest to two in that number twenty after the win uh... over michigan well get a tough opponent of course on saturday troubles to go to south bed where they have it once in twenty eleven they will play the number thirteen no-terdam fighting iris the iris up three spots uh... after their win over the weekend uh...
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: One of only two teams in the top 25 to have two losses this far, Texas being the other one, the long horns at number 21, of course, they just won Red River over Oklahoma this past weekend, but Notre Dame at 13, Nebraska now in the top 25 at number 25 and Oregon down from three to eight.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_03]: uh they almost exactly swap spots with with Indiana who went from uh I think seven to three after beating them I think I got that one right too.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think I had Oregon drop.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think I had them swap.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: I might have had Oregon a little bit further further down.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: Any other three felt like a very safe pick too.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: Um but Nebraska 25 is interesting because they go at Minnesota this this this week which I think is very
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: Tough place to play Minnesota.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about like they're just the pain in the ass team to play and that's the exact kind of team that like a team in Nebraska situation.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: would lose at.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, especially now that Matt Rull is getting his name thrown about in the places.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I could see the distractions being high this week.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: But if they can get through that, they can meet Northwestern at home.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: Those are their next two games before they host the Trojans on November 1st.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: Then they're going to be ranked two.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: And USC's last three road games
- 5:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oregon, so a lot of stuff on the schedule, SC has a lot sort of get through still, but also a lot to play for.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: Gave my Ava after his big game against Michigan, 265 yards, two touchdowns, complete 78% of his passes.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's still being talked about as a high-smen trophy candidate.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: people are talking about him is potentially the best quarterback in the country at the moment, which is two months ago, you would have been like, what?
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: Huh?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: But he's proves a lot of people wrong.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: You and I included and he's been so good this season.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_03]: So if he is to make some sort of heisman run.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to have to do it and there's showcase games and there's three big ones all in the road including the one on Saturday So a lot of stuff to get to there At least let's let's go back and talk more about the Michigan game SE wins 31 13.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: I want to talk about PFF I watched the PFF YouTube video about the games like 16 minutes long.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's a really good watch.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: You should go watch it
- 7:07[SPEAKER_03]: they talked about how Michigan blitzed on 56% of U.S.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: he's dropped back.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: And yet my office spent a career low in the back field of 2.8.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's a 2.5.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was something like 2.5, 2.5, 2.6, 2.1 something.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: In the backfields, on dropbacks before releasing the ball.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: And zero sacks.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's such a testament to what the game plan was, which was to have the quick passing game going, obviously having the run be successful as it was with SC ready for 224 yards.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: First team to run for over 200 yards since TCU did it a few years ago against Michigan.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: But the quick game, so good, the tunnel screens, every single one of those tunnel screens in the McKay lemon, chef's kiss.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: yet i was really impressed with the game plan i thought that uh... you know you mentioned uh... you you mentioned previously that like michigan fans or maybe you would just literally talking to me in the kitchen about michigan and michigan fans react in this game and talking about how Lincoln Riley had run circles around for more in his staff and i i get why they would say that i think that you see
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: came in very well prepared to face this defense and the it wasn't just the players being prepared well it was the game plan itself clearly Riley had understood the dangers of that past rush and he maybe had memory of what last year was like for Miller Moss in the backfield
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: And he made sure to set up a lot of really quick screens.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen USA leading up to this game.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Those wide receiver screens have been something They've done those sort of running back screens that we've seen them throughout the season and they clearly used those as bread and butter in this game and it worked really damn well.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think they also did a really good job of doing quick...
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: quick hits to the tight ends, you know, whenever whenever there was a blitz that a linebacker was sent and there's, you know, empty space there, my ava was ready to go hit a tight end running, you know, up the seamer or running around in the middle of the field.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so...
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: clearly they had identified areas where they could mitigate risk and also take advantage of the spots that Michigan was going to leave themselves vulnerable to.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: So you just have to tip your cap to Lincoln Riley.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, we talk all the time about questions about Lincoln Riley as a head coach.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: I still have questions about Lincoln Riley as head coach, but the one thing I do not have questions about.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: his ability is an offensive coordinator.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: He is one of the best offensive coordinators in college football and he remains so and a game like this was was him proving it.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was it was just really nice to see everything come together in that sense.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: We called it a complete victory on Saturday and even at the time I was thinking more from like a players complete victory but it did also feel like
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: the coaches really, the more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to sort of tip my cap to Riley.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you wanted to mention anything else from that PFF video, but I have something to say about something more to say about Riley and if play calling.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I just want to hop in here about the tight ends really quick.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_03]: You mentioned the tight ends.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, I think there was,
- 10:38[SPEAKER_03]: Um, a lot of success in finding the spot vacated by the blitzer, um, Lyons and McCree, four catches combined.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to know what each of the catches went for in terms of garbage?
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: It was probably like 10.
- 10:52[UNKNOWN]: 21, 21, 21, 21, 20.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's beautiful.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's incredible.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_03]: It was the same play over and I wasn't exactly the same play with like no.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: You would just think the same thing over and over and over and over all over the middle.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the thing.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: I've said this a million times.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: I hated the way USC would use the tight ends in the past few years by having, you know, the tight end was always the safety valve the way that the running back should be.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: The tight end was like, you know,
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: fading out into the flat and then it's like, okay, so you're just going to get the ball to Lake McCree at a standstill and then expect him to go from 0 to 16?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, this season what USC is doing is they're getting the tight ends over the middle.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: They're letting them catch the ball and then what we saw before Lake McCree screwed up and fumbled.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: That play was a perfect example of get the ball to the tight end of the middle and then just let him rumble.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_03]: want to kill Williams' favorite throats at USC was the pop RPO right up the middle with the tight end.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: So like we've seen that before, but I think there is more of an emphasis on throwing those seam routes up the middle that go beyond just the pop RPO play.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think that's a big testament.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: And last thing I just want to throw in here about coaching before you go on about the
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you've been critical about the coaching, the fans have been critical about the coaching, rap-offs have been critical about the, everybody has been critical about the coaching and rightfully so, especially when you see games like Illinois with the defense left a lot to be desired, you know, people are critical of type management, a bunch of different things, right?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought it was very interesting.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_03]: I went over to listen to some Michigan podcast just because I was just curious.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_03]: Not for like, shopping fraud reasons, but strictly because like, I'm curious what the narrative is from their perspective, right?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Was this a game where they're like, oh, we had them if we turned them over and it wasn't like, was it that?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what was it?
- 13:08[SPEAKER_03]: And the takeaway for them was how thoroughly out coached they were, the how like Lincoln Riley ran circles around more in company and I don't know that I was expecting that going to the game, but like the more you look back at everything, the game plan in all aspects, it was there, it was there on both sides of the ball, 100%.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that that's one of the things that I had that thought this morning when I was walking the dogs is, um, you know, we have plenty of praise for King Miller and rightfully so, King Miller and hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda hoda h
- 13:56[SPEAKER_03]: there's you're in King Miller.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's King Miller.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Who is King Miller?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's King Miller.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: We've had plenty of praise for him and I think that's this very very well earned praise.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think I also think we need to recognize the underlying reason why King Miller was able
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: and that is that Lincoln Riley put a lot of faith in King Miller and in the past I've complained at nauseam about Riley seeming to abandon the run the moment he was given a chance to and in this game I would certainly say the circumstances of losing not just one but two of your lead running backs to injury during the game and not having your third running
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been a very
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: reasonable reason for Lincoln Riley to say, okay, we're just not going to run the ball anymore.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to we're just going to have to turn this into an aerial attack and he didn't do that.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, he did the opposite.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: He did what I have been begging him to do for ages now, which is trust the running backs, trust the running game and hand it off.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Keep handing it off.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter if you get stuffed, keep handing it off.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: And literally that's what he did.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: The first drive when Waymo goes out injured.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: is the drive where USC is trying to run down the clock and, you know, get a touch down before half time.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: So there is an element of killing the clock and handing it off in order to do so.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: But you still have to have faith in your running back.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: There are other ways that you can kill the clock without handing the ball off.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: So women Jordan goes down on a two yard
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's Kaylon Miller Rush, Kaylon Miller Rush, King Miller Rush, then there's a screen to King Miller, and then another King Miller Rush, and then another screen to King Miller, and then the touchdown to McIleman.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: So six of the eight plays,
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: after way men Jordan goes down and King Miller is your literally your only available running back Riley still puts the ball in his hands and I don't know that that's something we would have seen from Riley in the past and I certainly know that's not something we would see from Riley if he didn't have explicit trust in what King Miller was capable of
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: and it's not just that it's not just like okay well we still had to run the clock so I guess we handed the ball off uh... there in the second half king miller was still getting fed the ball over and over and over and over again uh... it at a rate that that just is somewhat unusual for the way that you see sometimes goes about things in and in the best sense unusual i would say so i'd just thought ryley
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Riley prepared for this game.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Super well.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I also just thought he was so...
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: his management of this game was more mature than we have seen more patient than we have seen it just paid off majorly so again tip your cap to Riley because I think we've spent a lot of this season and previous games you know post games
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: stuff being very critical of Lincoln Riley so we should give him his flowers when he does practically everything right in this game.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: He gets at practically everything right.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think the, the not abandoning the run thing.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think is a huge point there.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to know was that about, it's a strictly numbers game.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_03]: Was it Michigan deciding that, okay, they're, they're down to their last running back and he's to walk on and the other guy, the guy behind him isn't even suited up.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: And so we're just gonna take away the pass and then S.C.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_03]: is just reading the number, reading the, the box counts and then,
- 18:15[SPEAKER_03]: running because of that.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_03]: If, if so, then that's still taking advantage of what the defense is giving you and that's great.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: But like, this was the best reason I think it would have been the most justified region to abandon the run.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: In the sense that you're down to one running back and you look at Wayman Jordan's success in this game.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't that successful,
- 18:44[SPEAKER_03]: a 7-6-11 at one point in the first quarter, a three-state rush was of zero yard, so like it's not like S.C.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: was having a lot of success before King Miller got in the game and was running back number one.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but yet they still found a way to do that.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: They still found a way to do it.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like you said, they stuck to it.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_03]: They were able to show stick toiveness, as they would say.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and, um, yeah, I think there was a big testament to what SC did in on the co-chance side of it.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: Um, Ron Murray and the chat says it's the biggest win in Lincoln Rayleigh in the Lincoln Rayleigh era.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's some nuance in the sense of like, is this the biggest win overall?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think that's the Notre Dame win.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's the UCLA win in 2022.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_03]: the Pacto Championship game, the Notre Dame game, clinches, Gilliboy and's Heisman, and clinches the 11 and 2 season.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's, you know, rightfully puts SC in a playoff spot for them to ultimately blow in Vegas, but that's a whole different side point.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_03]: This was the most critical win, and maybe this is Splitting Hairs, critical in the sense of like, we talked about it.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: these three games are going to define the trajectory of the program, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and winning against Michigan in this way is such a great start to that run.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_03]: And so from that sense, this was the biggest win and like this is the most needed win.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it was the biggest
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think you're right coming off the Illinois lost the it's the context of this game and you know by the end of the season we might find out that Michigan is a you know seven and seven and five team or something like that and it's Like they were last year, and it's just the enormity of this win doesn't matter as much in terms of like old USC knocked off a top legitimate top 10 team.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like you said, it is, it was meaningful in the context of what had happened, the previous game, USC facing the stretch that they have coming up here, knowing that, you know, if you lost this game,
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: it was going to be really hard for you to get to nine wins yeah um so that it just again it's all i think needed as a good is a good uh way to put it well you look at the comments we were getting a week ago the comments were getting the emails the people in the chat like all that stuff oh
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, five and seven.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_03]: If they're lucky.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_03]: Like I do think it is it is so funny to me.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm this is not me laughing at S.E.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: fans.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: This is this is how fans work.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: This is how fans of every team.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'm I'm a cup of fan.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm exactly this way with the cups and everything.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like,
- 21:57[SPEAKER_03]: The second anything seems to go, oh god, here we go.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know what I mean?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like five and seven, they're like, every thing's terrible, and it's just funny because it's like, everybody thinks that about their team.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: And like, you go to listen to Michigan podcast and they're like, oh, we're the worst coach team in the country, and I mean, like, everyone thinks their team is the worst coach team.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: But like,
- 22:25[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, when you have a coach who has previous success like Lincoln Riley, like you need to be able to get to there, you need to be able to, and I think that all the criticism that Lincoln Riley has gotten, or at least the vast majority of it, well deserved for the, have the last two seasons have gone.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, S.C.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: has been competitive, but being competitive in games is not winning games and S.C.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_03]: needed to win games and in this game they were competitive, they were dominant and they got the win, they checked all those boxes, and I think that was huge.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: Other numbers to sort of mention here in terms of how good S.C.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_03]: 's offences, like, I don't think we can understand how historically good this offences.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: Number one nationally at 8.3, one yards per play.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_03]: They are a half yard better than the number two team in the country, which is Cincinnati.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: A half yard, that is a huge gap, 18 inches.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_03]: huge gap.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: When you look at like, there's 135 teams in FBS, right?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_03]: To be a half yard ahead is nuts.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: SC is number one in the big 10 in yards per carry almost a half yard better than number two Michigan in yards per carry like that's crazy.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_03]: SC is number one in yards per pass attempt in the big 10 like
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: they have the best patching game, they have the best running game in the big 10 and this is an offense that absolutely can win your national championship.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_03]: If you have a good defense to the pair with it, you don't need to have an elite defense, you need a good defense and
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: dog crap on the road.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yes, a little bit the big, you know, the big test.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like, can this game travel?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like, SC played really well against Michigan.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_03]: Can that travel?
- 24:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we talked about it the other day.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, SC 6.2 yards for carry against Michigan.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: There were 7.0 yards for carry against number two, no, or Dame last year, 7.9 against number five Penn State last year.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: All those games are at home.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: Can you have that success on the ground?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: against a highly ranked team on the road.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's the question you've got to answer.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_03]: If you can answer that, then yeah, like SE will have checked a lot of the boxes on what it takes to look and play like a playoff team.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: But they have to do that and like I thought, you know, Josh Payton talked about it.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like this was a much needed win for SC, but like it's not the statement win.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_03]: The statement win is Notre Dame if they get that one.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's a good way to put it.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like you put people on notice by beating Michigan, but it's a statement win to do the same thing two weeks in a row against Notre Dame on the road in South Bend.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's sort of part of the climb that we've talked about this season.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the stairway that USC was going up in terms of the difficulty of a proponent moving forward and they did take a step back against Illinois, but they were certainly within rate.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were, you know, maybe
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: two plays of just killing clock a little bit better away from winning that game, you know?
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of reasons to us, he lost that game, but like they were pretty close.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: That was not far away from finding a way to just get out of dodge with a win.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, at this point when you look at Notre Dame, playing clean is certainly going to be part of the battle,
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: it really comes down to find whatever way.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't really matter what way.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: Just find a way to be able to go on the road and be competitive enough to be in position late to potentially put yourself in range of a win.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to do.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to do, but
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: It is, it's the task that USC has in front of them.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like a redo, it's like a second chance, right?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like so, we talked about the staircase going up and the difficulty, right?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: And they whiffed on the Illinois thing on the road on the road question, well, they get to go do it again, you know?
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: They answered the question of playing a good team at home.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: And now they get to go on the, like get their redo of,
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Can, can you learn from whatever mistakes you made before?
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Is it really just that the food poisoning was a thing?
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this is the perfect game for them to prove that it really was just the food poisoning thing.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_03]: Whether it was, whether it was or wasn't the food poisoning thing, you can at least let that narrative exist and stand and be your perfect like get out of jail free card about that game if you go and you beat Notre Dame 31, 13 in South Bend.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: Internet I mean,
- 27:36[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody will give a damn about what happened in the Illinois game.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_03]: If you go and you dominate Notre Dame in the trenches and you did what they did to Notre day.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: Pete Carroll lost the packed 12 road opener practically every season to teams that were far worse than Illinois and it didn't matter in the end.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess it did, but in this era, it wouldn't have mattered because they always went on and finished the season strong.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: So we were talking to our friend Kenny about like,
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: There's, are there parallels to the 2011 season here?
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: In the sense of like, is the Illinois loss is at the ASU loss in 2011 where like,
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: There were weird turnovers, turnovers in the in plus territory in that issue, I think they turned it over like four times and as you territory, bunch of turnovers and it was very painful for us see that way because it's like they played well, but they turnovers killed them right and so the Illinois game is similar in a lot of ways, not exactly a one for one, but then you lose that game and then you feel like all the seasons over.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_03]: But then rebound, you get some wins, you get everything.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then you have the validating loss to a great team in Stanford, in overtime, where you're like, oh, but, you know, S.C.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: is really good, they lost here, but they're still really good, right?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_03]: And then they get the roadway and against orking at the end of the year.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like,
- 29:11[SPEAKER_03]: what is the Stanford game?
- 29:12[SPEAKER_03]: Is that Stanford game?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: Is it Notre Dame?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: Is it fighting valiantly against Notre Dame and coming up shorts?
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the dominant performance against Michigan?
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Is that the validator like the Stanford game was?
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: Either way, like I do see parallels, but again, you have to pay that off.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_03]: Things can't just be what if scenarios.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: We talked about it last year.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_03]: FC was three and three, after the Penn State game.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_03]: And we're like, well, they have a chance to make a run here.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: and if they finish nine and three you look back and you let you strug but you're like hey you got through it you got through nine and three and you know you lost the Penn State and you lost the Michigan or whatever but you have to actually do that for an order in order for you to be able to to say those things yeah you can't go you can't then turn around and lose to Maryland yeah and you can't finish six and six you can't you know six and six yeah yeah so yeah it's all it's all part of the process play everybody close
- 30:11[SPEAKER_03]: has a lot more merit when you go nine and three and you take care of business in the games that you should win.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, which is what I see didn't do last year.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing is like I think a lot of, well, some fans really want to have more patients that I'm willing to have right now for, for Lincoln Riley.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: We talk all the time about record is less important than I test and sort of how you got there.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: And a 9 and 3 where your losses are to Illinois, Notre Dame, and Oregon on the road, and each of those losses is by one score.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: That is...
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: progress.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is more than enough progress for what I want to see from this season.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Do I want to see USC make the play of yeah I do want to see USC make the play up do I want to see USC beat
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: beat Notre Dame absolutely it's been way too long since USC one at Notre Dame, but they're the context of if you are competitive in those games and you put up a fight and you happen to lose but it's narrow and you you take care of business against the teams that are not those games because remember, you know, Nebraska is not not going to be an easy out.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern is not a good team but they play hard.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: They are not going to roll over and die
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: And UCLA is a whole new animal that you can't overlook either.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: So it's about taking care of business for what you have and then also proving that you can.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need USC to prove that they can beat the big dogs this season.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: I need them to prove that they can go toe to toe with them.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_03]: See, I think it's tough though because I think they proved that last year.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, but then they lost to Maryland, you know, like I couldn't survive losing to Penn State and over time and and losing to Michigan on three big running plays, but I could not I could not allow for losses to Minnesota and Maryland.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: I know I hear you and I like I agree with what you're saying.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just saying that like I think last year was SEC's proving ground of like hey, we belong in these games, but they didn't have anything to show for you.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm with you in that like SE going 9 and 3 wouldn't be the end of the world.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: It would be a big step forward.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's three more wins and last year.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_03]: And if you go 9 and 3, but like it's a good eye test 9 and 3, then there'll be a lot of things to feel good about.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_03]: I agree with that just in general, but.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: people weren't happy with the Illinois game and rightfully so right and like so and I think that every time you lose a close game even to a team that is really good it is going to bring back some PTSD of like they played well against Washington two years ago and you know top five Washington team they played well against top five Penn State team and they played well against the top five Notre Dame team last year but you know they didn't win any of those games
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so like I don't think it's just playing close.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: I think you've got to look like you belong and you've got to be able to force the issue and if you do those things and don't win every game, I think that's fine.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: If you take care of business everywhere else at this point, when you're trying to project forward.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_03]: but you need to win some of those games, right?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like, LN55 in the chat says if James Franklin proves anything, it says it's not enough to win random games.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: You have to actually accomplish things too.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: So let's hope he has another gear too.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think the James Franklin thing has always been,
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: If you go, if you're chalk, if you're 10 and 2, and we talked about this before, like, if this is a, if SC is James Franklin Penn State this year, that will be a huge step forward, because it shows that they would know how to take care of their own business, which is something that haven't been doing with, yes, like, yes, SC played Penn State close last year in their name, close last year, but they lost the Maryland.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't win on the road against Washington, even though it was a winnable game.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: So, it is a step forward to be the chalk team and just win every game but the big ones at the same point.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: What Doom James Franklin was that no longer being the case.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like,
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, he played organ close and I don't that he didn't lose because he played organ close.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_03]: He lost because he started to lose the game.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he got fired because he started to lose the games that he had always won.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 34:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can you can be still employed by going 10 and 2 and 11 to 1 every year and not winning the big games until you lose the Northwestern at home.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: Because that, there's no excuse for that, like, you know what I mean?
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so, anyways, um, let's get to overrun, shall we get over?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_03]: Take your going over.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'm gonna bowl, give me that over.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going, I gotta take it under here.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: I got three under to take.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna do an under here.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: Did it to the first one?
- 35:15[SPEAKER_03]: You said over under 5.15 Michigan rushing yards per carry.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_03]: Um, at least that this was under, it was 3.52, um, we put this in here as the total rushing average.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_03]: So the total rushing yards that include Sacks, I do think it's a little unfair to the Michigan here because the runnybacks were 4.96, the runnybacks were fine for Michigan, but you include the Sacks, you include, uh, S.C.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: really making sure that underward didn't do anything, had negative four rushing yards in the game.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't surprise that he didn't.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's around 11 more.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's 3.5 2 was to under.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_03]: And you were saying that that's if that's an over it's a loss.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it was under.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: It was an under by a fair bet 3.5 2 over under 78.5 U.S.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_03]: the penalty yards.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: At least if we didn't talk about this the car cast, but my god.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: random applause for this one not only being under but like less than half thirty one has he had thirty one battled the yards.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: The crazy thing is I brought up the Michigan's averages.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: because I was just curious like are they in a penalty prone team as well or anything like that?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just funny that the one game that USC has minimal penalty artage is against a Michigan team who's opponents average minimal penalties.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: They average 20 point 60 yards and three penalties per game.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Not only that.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's a Michigan thing, or what.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like the reps couldn't have called some stuff.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, stop.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think the referee was great in this game at all.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think that, like, there could be lanes put shop on the first touchdown.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_03]: I like I don't know the rule well enough to say really before the catch yeah, so like if that's the why they don't call that sure I like I get it, but also if they would have called that I think everyone would have been like yeah, I see it right yeah, like it was like and they were calls both ways that just sort of didn't make sense because Everyone hit it up heck 12 rafts, but like that's what all rafts are not perfect right
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: regardless of the conference, but I think the interesting thing here is defensively, I see did not commit a single penalty, which is huge.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: It was an unsports and like conduct penalty on McIlemon that I thought was, which, that was him responding, it's
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: retaliating with not even it was literally him just like standing up and not doing Yeah, not making an effort to kind of rip his helmet off.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like he stood up and making an effort to not trip the other guy while doing so like it was that was a silly
- 38:01[SPEAKER_03]: I hate when they call that stuff one hold in one full start.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: So 31 yards who's under On 78 and a half USC penalty yards only 55 says Michigan fans hated the refs like I thoroughly understand that this is what I I say this all the damn time The refs are not out to get your team they're just bad
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: they just are not good and yet like every team can look at every game and say like oh this was a bad call over it.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: I still haven't had an explanation for why USC is putting a third and you know forever for because of a backwards pass that was tipped and then then you know placed at the spot instead of advance the way that I
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: You and I are or at least I am watching the game muted because it's here in your watch along and so I'm like I'm producing your watch along so I'm watching the game muted I was very confused Why the bow was spotter where it was when broadcast didn't know why either the broadcast was confused and didn't understand it's very very strange And somebody else pointed this out.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember who was on the in the chatter or on Twitter, but like Illinois scored on that play
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like Illinois scored a touchdown, sorry, yeah, Purdue, sorry, Purdue scored a touchdown on that play.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: So like, how did USC's advancement of that ball not count?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't, it's stupid.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, if it's a thing where you can't advance a fumble, like I know that that's the case in like the last two minutes of the game and last minute of the game, but like that wasn't the case at that point, at least I don't think.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: All right, next one, over under 151.16, may I have a passer rating.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: It was over 162.1 and great showing from him.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_03]: I, I,
- 39:56[SPEAKER_03]: I need to look at it.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_03]: I need to pull out the masturbating calculator because I want to know what it would have been without that cut off holder section.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's probably pushing 200.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at least close.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: But that was a cut off holder section.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it was a great tech doc I saw that was it was like these are the the five worst passes of the week.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_03]: So like it starts off we start off with number five John material from Oklahoma and it's like this play and then I'm like, oh, it's my oven going to be on this for that for that pick and then the second one is for the next one.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_03]: We go to the the quarterback from Oklahoma and then for the third one.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_03]: We go number 10 on the sooners.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like a running bit that was funny zombie John Matthier's got nothing on Zavid Juju that's what we learned.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: Next one over under four and a half USC Titan catches it was under it was four and we talked about it four 21 21 21 and 20 yards.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_03]: It can be four all season long if that's what the production is going to be on those four catches.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_03]: pretty big for us see.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: Question, was that the only one I got right?
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Did I take the under on that one?
- 41:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have the thing in front of me.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_03]: Hold on.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's complete spoiler alert here.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yes.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: You took the, yes, you took the under-entite
- 41:37[SPEAKER_03]: 50.5 fourth down conversion rate for Michigan.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that maybe this was unfair, maybe it should have been 49.5 just to make it if they get 50%, it wouldn't have mattered because it was under, there was zero of two.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_03]: SEC defense came through on four towns, zero of two.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Shocker of all shockers, USC's defense, USC's fourth down defense got the job done.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that we have been able to say that in a while.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, last one, one and a half Michigan sacks, USC, a loud zero, it was under.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_03]: All of these things went S-C's way on Saturday night.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: For the week, you went one in five, hold on, hold on, you went one in five.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: We're one out for you.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_03]: I went for him too.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: Best wrap-bought, wrap-outs of the week, Matthew and the LBC and HH and HB.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_03]: Both went five and one.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_03]: It was pure carnage for everybody else.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_03]: There were zeroes.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_03]: There were one.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_03]: I'm put out with the ones.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: I did decide, though, and we're going to get to his call, but David and OC called in and was talking about overunders, I think, and I had a thought
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think for the rest of the season, I am going to play Devil's Advocate and do reverse psychology on all overunders because that seems to be when... Hey, George.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: That seems to be when USC does its best when I say, bet the under on everything.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: I will do the opposite.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_03]: I went foreign to.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, top robots of the week, we got to that, uh, top robots of the season so far, uh, in in tied for fourth place, we have a three-way tie between J bandie, John clown, and Nate and Wittier, 14 correct overunders.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and there's a three-way tie for first place with 16, HH and HB,
- 43:49[SPEAKER_03]: mm-hmm.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: You'll love to see it.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_03]: You'll love to see it.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: You'll love to see it.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: Vegas spread was SC2 and a half.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: SC definitely covered that.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_03]: The FBI production was 31.30 with a 53.53% wind probability SC covered that.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: SC score line for you.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: You said 28.24 Michigan?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_03]: in correct.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_03]: I stole the FBI projection and I said 31 30 SCI 31 points, but Michigan only had 13, not 30.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_03]: So SC much better there as well.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: At least let's go to the good old rotometer shall we?
- 44:33[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_03]: We go to the rotometer and we gotta have a lot of fun
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: At least the last week, when last week's focus, at 3.3 after the Illinois game.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think the fans drop on?
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm putting it now.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think the rapods are a wildly swinging bunch.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the rapods might have USC up around eight.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: Up around eight.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_03]: Here it goes.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: 7.1.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I just opened.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just opened the spreadsheet where we have all of the Rotometer ratings and the first one is beautiful.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_03]: The first comment, I guess we aren't total but that wouldn't sense wrap up.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_03]: I wrote my Rotometer rating of 6.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I want to 7 slightly hopeful but need to win on the road to really impress me still nice speedy Michigan.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 45:50[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, someone says beat the iris and they'll be in eight next week.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_03]: That was a seven.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, LA Fred in here says the offense can match up with with most all however the defense still needs to prove itself versus more relative team.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, LA Fred put seven so many put six cautious optimism caution until we see it on the road somebody said nine great win with a bunch of
- 46:13[SPEAKER_03]: uh... fight on emojis uh... somebody else said eights looking more physical uh... so many more comments in here i'll get to a couple more uh... chappy says mike e-boy
- 46:27[SPEAKER_03]: Alicia, wow, just wow King Miller McIefe, it's Gerald Mayaba, absolute beast out there.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_03]: Almost no penalties in their 50s, plus yard wobbly, line, field goal, unreal.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: After all these years of pain is a fan, it feels incredible to finally dominate, Michigan like that.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: Also, what a great episode of the podcast.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_03]: A pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty,
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: Pretty good night.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_03]: He says screw it put me down for a nine.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's from Chappy.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: So People are feeling it.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: They were Joe on the chest as Rotterrow, which is which is good.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody says six bounce back win.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_03]: This is Britt from a bounce back win and arguably the most complete game of the Riley era.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I I feel that I feel that
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the rock bots are with me.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think during the car cast, I said, I said I was a seven, and I think that scrolling through this, I think most people are sort of there.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: This was really good, beating a good team to go higher.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: You just gotta see them be able to replicate this performance that's been the rub for
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: getting things done.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 100% let's get to the mail back, shall we?
- 47:51[SPEAKER_03]: You've got mail.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we start with a superchats, let's just hit, go right to the superchant, huh?
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Then we got this superchant.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is at the end of the carcass.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: Literally as we stop streaming the carcass and I felt so bad, like I had hit the button to stop and then it popped up.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so big shout out to Ghosted 760, who says thought experiment.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_03]: If Michigan had won, say 30, 20, imagine the Pundit's chest pumping and Michigan chocolate writery instead of the bumbling and fumbling from the Punditree now.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_03]: You thought?
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I thought it was interesting that Michigan fell out of the rankings.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I, I get it.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: But.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Again, you know, lose a team in the teens losing to a team that will now be in the teens.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Just doesn't feel like Just feels arbitrary But yeah, if Michigan had had beaten USC at the Coliseum, I think that would have really validated everything about Michigan I don't know that it would have like Vonted them up because USC wasn't ranked and they'd just let Lost Gel and oil and everything like that But it would have been viewed as a really quality win.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm So I
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but obviously that isn't what happened and the other way around now USC is, you know, I don't know that people are writing USC's job, but I see a lot of pundits around the country talking about USC and saying, is it time to start taking them seriously?
- 49:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think that there's a lot of good, like, you know, listening back to what Josh paid had to say.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think it makes a lot of sense of like, there's, there's an, I'm impressed in how USC played.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: and let's see it against the other day.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's the right read from it, too.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like both from a national perspective point from a fan point, everything.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, yeah, I was really impressed with how S.C.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_03]: played on on Saturday.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_03]: Can they do it on the road?
- 49:50[SPEAKER_03]: Can they replicate it?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't need to be exactly a complete, they don't need to be noted in 31, 13 to do that.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_03]: but you need to play really well and ideally win on the road and show that that kind of performance can travel because that's been the question mark.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_03]: And Dessie's credit so far on the on the road this year, they haven't.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_03]: They haven't played terribly in the sense of like, they didn't look like they did against Maryland and Rutger, sorry, Maryland and Washington last year when they just looked out of sorts for long stretches.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_03]: And part of that is like against Illinois, the defense looked at Weathering and Tiger Game, but the offense never really did.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_03]: The offense had like two bad drives in that game, right?
- 50:39[SPEAKER_03]: Against Purdue, when things got weird, they responded.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_03]: lended them knock out punch against Illinois when things got weird.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_03]: They still found a way to come back and lead the game at the end.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's a step forward.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_03]: But you need to take like three step forwards by having the statement showing against Notre Dame.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 51:00[SPEAKER_03]: Losing a game on the road by a field goal.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: A game that you should have won is not enough, right?
- 51:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's not enough.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go back to the mail back.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_03]: You've got mail.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we got a five star review from JB class of 8082 with JB because JB uses our reviews like a mailback thing and I'm fine with it.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like it, it, it, it, yeah, it's a fact as our review.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: So this is good.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: JB says portal the talent, available in the portal has decreased each year, which is one reason SE didn't find more DBs.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_03]: The DBs are simple
- 51:39[SPEAKER_03]: The DB issues are simple.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_03]: Projected starters are profit browners out for the year.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: Next starter was Graham, who's injured Jason Johnson out for the year.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: So two starters out against Illinois, Nicholson in and out, Ramsey out, so our projected five starters out, long street in and out.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_03]: So we were playing third stringers.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_03]: And remember,
- 51:59[SPEAKER_03]: Um, in Lens first year he had Ransy coming to Nuala's all with loads of college experience.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_03]: So less about coaching more about experience, final thought the most successful portal transfers we have had been quarterbacks and wide receivers.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_03]: I, I think there's a lot of validity to this.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_03]: And this is why like I do think that there's a world in which
- 52:20[SPEAKER_03]: in which Stanton Lynn is strictly been playing the percentages of like, hey, we're hamstrung here.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_03]: We we we have to play tomorrow Ramsey out of position.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: We've got all these issues.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to play soft.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to play Ben Don't Break.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that is totally fine.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_03]: And it works against Purdue.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: Against Illinois, I understand coming out that way in the first half.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_03]: But after a half time, I think there should have been some sort of kind of
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: That was my biggest gripe with the Notre Dame game.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the Illinois game plan was that there wasn't an adjustment in the middle of the game.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: Even if the adjustment failed, it would have showed that there was an attempt.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I felt like USC, it...
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: They, you see definitely didn't have answers and it didn't feel like they were throwing things at the wall either, or at least if they were I wasn't noticing it, particularly it's stopping the run.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like I know that the DBs were having a rough day.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes there's nothing you can do about that, but it felt like you as you should have been able to do something about the run.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: And they just never adjusted.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: They never started stacking the box or changing things up or
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: putting in different players or whatever it was.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: It just wasn't working.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_01]: But then again, you know, I think we do have to give room for something that we did talk about at the time, which is, I may not be willing to give the defense a total pass for playing that badly when they didn't have Khmer Ramsey in the game.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: But the Khmer, the timing of Khmer Ramsey's unavailability,
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: was was a very disruptive, I think, and the road can already be disruptive.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: So just being able to be prepared this time around, seem like it made a difference, even if it was just, if it was just having Kamari Ramsey on the field makes USC's defense significantly better, which is true, but also just having a couple weeks to practice with the guys who were going to play and know what guys were going to play and know what alignment they were going to be in and all that kind of stuff.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so just stability, I think makes a big difference too.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_03]: No, I agree.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_03]: I agree.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_03]: And the hope is that as a season goes on, it works through those things.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_03]: You get a little, a little more healthy, a little healthier, whatever.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, Jason Johnson's not coming back, because he's out for the season, but yeah, you just gotta find a way to get healthy there.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_03]: As best as you can, or at least find solutions.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go to voicemails, we got.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_03]: First one comes from Dave and Orange County.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_05]: Man, that was great game.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you came in, gripping a little bit, you know.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_05]: I think I got most of my over underpicks wrong, because it was very pessimistic coming into this game and thank goodness that USC's just showed up and balled out and played just all around great game.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_05]: We didn't need Jaden to have an all-world game.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he played pretty well.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I mean, we saw some glimpses or whatever, you know, earlier in the season, but this is men's scholarship, I mean, they should fit shell to interceptions.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we just have to guys just show it up.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_05]: This is an awesome victory.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, this is what we really need.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_05]: This is what a doctor ordered.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_05]: Let's get that confidence back.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_05]: Let's do it one more time in South Bend, B.D.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_05]: Irish,
- 56:06[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for the call, Dave, as always.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there was an extended cut there where he talked about, like, a lot of pessimism with the over-understaff, but like, I think everybody has been, you know, happy to be sort of proven wrong and back on the field goodness.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the thing.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like the sunshine pumpers and the doom and gloomers end up in a war between each other, where,
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes very important that one or the other is correct, and it's like it becomes more about being right than, you know, than the football.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: But one thing I just want to like always reiterate, pessimism around this U.S.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: team has been warranted for some time.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like being pessimistic doesn't mean you don't have any faith in this team.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's just that, you know, you've been around the block and you know,
- 56:56[SPEAKER_01]: why things don't often go USE's way and I think that teams have to, at least for me, teams have to earn back my optimism, my trust, and wins like this one against Michigan.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: are a big step in earning back my trust, you know, whatever the performance at Notre Dame ends up being, we'll have an impact on my level of trust in what this team is.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_01]: We, you know, in 2016, trust had been completely broken with the team, you know, losing the early games that they did.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: And by, you know, by mid-November that season, I think by the Oregon game, I was starting to feel like, no, this team's got it.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: It seems got it in their going and so then by the time USC is playing Penn State it's like yeah USC can be Penn State that's not, you know, that's not in September I wouldn't have said USC could be Penn State but by the time they got there they had built up enough goodwill to say yeah I don't need to be pessimistic anymore so it is a process of cutting away the pessimism and I think that process is totally fair.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and also, I think there's a difference in being skeptical, it'd be strictly pessimistic.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a difference between mean pessimistic and nihilistic, right?
- 58:13[SPEAKER_03]: There's levels to this.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_03]: Extreme blooming doom and extreme sunshine pumping.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_03]: Both toxic in their own separate ways.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because the reality's always somewhere in the middle with context.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the most important thing is
- 58:34[SPEAKER_03]: enjoying being wrong or being open to being wrong.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: I am the first person right here to sit here and say, I'm so wrong about Jade and my Ava this season.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_03]: To the point where like even if he throws nine picks on Saturday and does all the things that we saw Again seconds a NM for the first 45 minutes of that game.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not gonna get here and be like I told you right.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_03]: I told you that you know, he just wasn't the guy.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like yeah Cuz what is that gonna do you know what does what is that gonna do so yeah, and I was wrong on the offensive line
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: they've they've proven me wrong.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: My anxiety about them proven wrong.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if they get completely manhandled by Notre Dame that doesn't negate the rest of what they've done.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's the success.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_03]: It might, you know, reduce some of the confidence going forward absolutely.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_03]: But like, you know, everything's nuanced.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_03]: Everything's nuanced.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, Dave's excited.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: We, we, we love to see that.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go to Ellie Fred.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, Reina Troy, this is L.A.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_04]: Fred Colleen.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to take a second to give credit to the Trojan fans.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_04]: The Coliseum looks full, and I get to replace another big time blue bud, Rankscore Ramon Michigan, and there were probably plenty of Michigan fans there, but they were completely drowned out by the UFC faithful.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_04]: From watching the game on television, the fans seemed to be into it from the start, always in a finish.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_04]: They were loud,
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_04]: And so now in fact, if they help cause three pre-step penalties on Michigan to enlarge parts of the crowd noise, I could promise you that the upbeatness of the crowd and help the defense play better on Saturday night.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_04]: And as a former athlete, I'll be at granted it was another lifetime ago.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_04]: A great home crowd can lift the spirits and provide the extra juice that you need out there on the field.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_04]: That's how the call of CM used to be.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_04]: If only we should get back to that and equal that, although I know that's maybe stretch it to get something close to resembling that.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_04]: The Trojan team and program would improve immensely.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_04]: I have no doubt about that.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_04]: That was great week.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_04]: Find on everybody.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for the call, LA Fred, as always.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: I will say, there is nothing more beautiful than we talked about this before, but like the naked Paris style, right?
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_03]: When they got rid of the stupid Audi sweet bullshit, it was a great, the naked Paris style, beautiful, borderline erotic, right?
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_03]: A sold out Colosseum, and the naked Paris style.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_03]: NSFW.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_01]: We we had a front Texas saying like man the Coliseum's like old and and read on but boy did she look beautiful on the broadcast.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_03]: The Coliseum is like the Rose Bowl in the sense of like when there's a bunch of empty seats you're like, you know?
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_03]: What could it be?
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_03]: What could it be?
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, the Rose Bowl especially looks terrible with empty seats just because it's so, the Rose Bowl just looks bigger in terms of the seats are.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, when it's full, nothing prettier than a full Rose Bowl, right?
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_03]: Nothing prettier than a full call of CM and like it's like the link and Riley quotes about You know that the link and Riley has become a punchy back for the brisket and something Magnet go about a triple ball thing right and you know Justifiably so because S.C.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_03]: has not made the call CM a fortress and I remember
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_03]: years and years and years ago at the beginning of the the peak carol era watching college game day and I want to say was it I don't remember when it was I don't remember when this was maybe it was maybe it was 2001 2001 Oregon I don't know somebody was coming to the Colosseum and Kirk Herb Street was like
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_03]: the last thing that like there is no nothing less intimidating than a cavernous Colosseum.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_03]: And he's right.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: He's right.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_03]: A raucous
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_03]: full colosseum fantastic i'm not going to sit here and say that it's like it's not it's not death valley it's not how we value our option but it's not those but it's also but it's it's own special it has its own magic to it and there's there's an aura to it that i think that
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_01]: when you have the crowd full and it's night time and the torch gets lit and you're keenly aware of the history of the place and it just, it's just different.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that like obviously a big factor is that it's Michigan, Michigan not only travels well, but Michigan is a historic national rival, right?
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like we've always talked about like S.E.S.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_03]: rivals, right?
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's number one and number two is Notre Dame
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_03]: Three and four was always Stanford and Cal however you want to do that and four and five It's a higher state Michigan because of the Rose Bowl history right and so there's these are it's a Historic matchup and all that kind of stuff so I think it riles as he fans up for that reason and Michigan fans travel like hell.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's a massive fan base, right and I think that going to the big 10 is really helpful for boosting
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_03]: attendance because there is a lot more fan support going on the road.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_03]: Not because the Pac 12 teams didn't travel as much as these are teams who haven't been to the Colosseum.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe ever who are not for decades or any of these are fans that maybe have never been to the Colosseum.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_03]: These are fans that always want to go to the Rose Bowl, but like you got to wait for a good year to go to the Rose Bowl.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_03]: Plus you factor in the SE is going to host these teams like once every
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_03]: And so every time Michigan comes out here, every time Ohio State comes out here, Penn State comes out here.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_03]: All their fans are gonna wanna come out because they've never been here before.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_03]: or they haven't been here often, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think that makes those matchup special.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I also think it was, it's gratifying from the S.E.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_03]: fans was massive.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was going to say because like the accusation against USC fans is that they don't care.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we've had many, many conversations about that and this fan base and attendance and all of that kind of stuff.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_01]: But my worry has been with some of these big 10 teams, especially the ones that have
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_01]: big presence here in Los Angeles, is that they would take over the Colosseum, and it would be embarrassing on that front.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: And that is absolutely not what happened in the US defense turned out.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the, the, it sounded great from, from here, people who were at the game have told us that it was an incredible atmosphere.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_01]: And that is what USC fans are capable of
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_01]: And this is again, comes back to what this program has been for the last, now 15 years, is it's too few and too far between the moments that we get to see that.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: But as somebody who grew up during the Pete Caralera, every single game was that.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: Except for, you know, what?
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: Santa Day State or whatever.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_03]: I remember, no, even then, though, even then, because I remember, as a kid, fall seems always super empty.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_03]: They would have the bigotarps all over the place that doctors are of U.S.A.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_03]: or whatever they do.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_01]: Doctors of U.S.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I remember when Florida State came in 1996 when Kansas State came in 2001 and Auburn in 2002, how awesome it was to see their road support, but like it was just hadn't way more fervor than the Coliseum thing.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_03]: But in 2002 there was like 80,000 people for the Auburn game if I remember right.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_03]: And like that felt like things had started to turn.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_03]: And then there was a 2002, I think, was their home game against, yeah, would have been a home game against ASU, the TBS game, homecoming against ASU.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_03]: And it was like almost 80,000 people.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_03]: And like my, you know, a levardier old me is their 13 year old me, is sitting there like, oh wow.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of people can come for a game that isn't, you see a lot of it, isn't not a name, like that's cool, right?
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_03]: And then you get around to like the following seasons after I see wins the actual championships and like every single game was sold out.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_03]: They'd play you know a bad Stanford team at 730 on Fox Sports net and it would still be a sold out game that was, you know, super rocket.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_03]: So like,
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's where I want Fc to get back to and this is what always has been my frustration, and I always say this a million times.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_03]: There's like 15 million people who live within a two hour drive of the Coliseum.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_03]: If fans in bomb F, whatever, can fill their stadiums even when they're not playing well?
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_03]: then so can I say, and I fully understand the idea of like, you know, maybe some apathy or maybe skepticism or like, I don't want to spend a dollar until this team gets rid of playhouten or I don't want to spend a dollar until they, you know, do whatever, like, all of that is justified.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_03]: But my mind is still there's 15 million people within a two hour drive.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_03]: There's got to be some way to get 80,000 people to call Sam on any given day.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_03]: There's only six games.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's like some games.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_03]: So it's great to see when it went and happened.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_03]: So email from Tony.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_03]: Michael, Alicia, this is Tony from the NRPA.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_03]: That was a great performance last night.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_03]: The physicality from both the offensive and defensive line was outstanding.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_03]: Lincoln called a great game 36 rushes 32 passes.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_03]: That's Balanced Stanton's game plan was superb against the gun quarterback and running aim of Michigan's.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, joy this win today and get ready for Notre Dame next week.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_03]: Fight on, Tony.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well said.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well said.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think the physicality is definitely something that we hope to see more of from from U.S.C.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: because they sure were physical in this game.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_03]: 100% email from Ron.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, rock, King Miller's performance will go down in Trojan lore.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_00]: There you go, King, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_03]: Long live the King Ron inventor.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_03]: Ron, I have a beef here.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_03]: I have a beef.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_03]: Do not include a manual moody with Dylan Baxter and Whitney Lee's.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_03]: Emmanuel moody was damn good.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_03]: I was so sad when he transferred to Florida.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_03]: He was very good.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_03]: He was not a bust.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_01]: He went on to have a decent career.
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_01]: He was like okay.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_01]: He was fun.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_03]: But like he had like 600 yards as a true freshman in 2006.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_03]: He was really good.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_03]: But like I don't it's not that the star system is flawed.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's just like like I think he he played Like a four or five star running back would play right, but the the star system is always like it's its probability Yeah, that's I think that's what proud of what what people have a hard time with is that like
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_01]: The star system isn't a guarantee that you will be good.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: It is likely that you will be a player of this level.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And some players will have peaked in high school, whether it's because of their own commitment to being great or the high school, the high school competition that they want to
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_01]: the system that they end up in in college or, you know, academics or a million other things.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_01]: There are million things why players are buss and they're, and, and, you know, I think I, I talked about this like, there are reasons why the low ranked guys who succeed succeed and they are very rare to succeed if you are a like,
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_01]: outside the top, you know, 7.53 star or 2 star and you go on to success in college.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_01]: You are an extreme rarity because there are far more high school football players in that range than there are even the top 7.50 or top 500 or whatever it is in any class.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_01]: And the thing that separates those guys is sometimes just
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_01]: visibility sometimes it's you can't account for somebody just being a gamer you just can't account for somebody having it and people don't like talking about it but I am a I am a believer in it you like me W. T. W. T. W. The will to win I mean yeah maybe at a annoying hot hairls and okay
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's just it's some guys just yeah, there's a mental factor that you can't there is a mental factor I think it's annoying because like you and I look at things scientifically right like we're gonna look at things like what are the numbers?
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_03]: What is the like use logic and all those things?
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes life doesn't like fall with the logic and what all the stuff says, right?
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's what makes life so freaking beautiful.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_03]: So that the logical thing can be wrong and the non-logical thing can sometimes be so right.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes a guy could know where you can just have it, right?
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, you can have it.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_03]: Rabadori case important.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the one in a million chance means that something is unlikely, but one in a million chances do hit sometimes.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_03]: So I pulled up Emmanuel Moody's steps as a true freshman in 2006.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_03]: 79 carries, 459 rushing yards, a 5.2, sorry, a 5.8 yards per carry average or two touchdowns.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_03]: Then included 130 yard performance at Arizona in 2006, a 20 to three win.
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_03]: Mind you, this was a year in which he had to split carries with Chancee Washington and CJ Gable.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 79 carries, watching a buck 57 to double and Gabriel had a buck 11, which was like 30 more than he did.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_03]: So 459 yards is the third most used back.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they did a bust, no bust, no bust, no bust.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_03]: No bust.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_03]: There's also the most CRT had in the single season.
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't have as many at Florida, but didn't win a national championship.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's a 35 point out in the chat.
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_03]: uh... but but yes long live king miller hip hip it doesn't work that the king in the south there you go uh... all right we had an email from million fifty five uh... i was i'm so mad at myself we were gonna do the pitch yeah we were gonna get the walkie talkies i'm so bombed i had that idea we were scrambling with the run down before the game
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_03]: I remember the five says is walkie talking leak in the best Lincoln.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good like it It's something worked for it.
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_01]: He was This was some of the best play calling he's had The long while make you it was you walkie talking you remember when S.C.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_03]: beat Oregon 2011 how
- 1:15:11[SPEAKER_03]: Lane Kiffin was with the beanie and the the cortex and all that was right.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_03]: And like how funny that was especially making it endearing when he wins a game with it.
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's the same thing with with like Octogi.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_03]: If you see Lucius this game, people making fun of how corny it is with the with the walkie talking.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_03]: You win the game.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_03]: You love how corny it is, right?
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_03]: You love it.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_03]: We got an email from Brian.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_03]: This was mid game for what it's worth.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_03]: Mid game from Brian.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_03]: Good game.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_03]: The game was out of reach.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_03]: However, right before the two minute time out.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_03]: This was not mid game.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_03]: This was 6 p.m.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_03]: on Sunday, not Saturday.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_03]: I have a rope for the two minute time out.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_03]: Why the f was the ball snap with the play clock.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm allowing it to run into the time out.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_03]: While it is out of reach, you need to practice playing every advantage possible.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's a habit that needs to be practiced when you play chess, you don't just let it go down, let it go even though all they have is the king piece left.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_03]: You have to play so it can be checkmated with one or two less moves, Brian from MB.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember exactly the moment here.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_03]: Was this before halftime?
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's when I thought, but I don't think it is because they
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_01]: so was it the end of the game maybe it must have been i have i have the game book up here let me see um... two minute time out so the oh was it the third and nineteen k-lon-miller to your game king why why am i saying k-lon every time king-miller
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's because it says K Miller in this thing.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_03]: Um, a bride in the chat and says no, the end.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_01]: So it was the end.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_01]: So it was, it was with 203 Miller has a rush.
- 1:17:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then they hit the two minute time out.
- 1:17:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then USC puns, uh, to give the ball back with like, yeah, minute 57, whatever.
- 1:17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't know.
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't notice it at the time.
- 1:17:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think, um, I think you probably should wait
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_03]: I also think that that's very possible a moment where like the coaching staff has their health has their their things off and you're fit because after you get the the interception before that right the interception was right before that I was a turnover on down to turn over the downs.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_03]: No, the interceptions with 24 seconds left.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so you get the turnover on downs before that, which essentially is the game over.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_03]: I, I just wonder if they just, they weren't game planning anymore.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I also, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_03]: players in that situation for not treating it like it's a two minute drill because it's not a two minute drill yeah I would say this if if this is the take away in the criticism about S.E's game on Saturday then that's a good sign right like yeah yeah obviously yes I think it dignity would friggin blow a gasket over this right and Brian says in the
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I agree, but um, yeah, it just for me, it's not the, it's not the worst thing in the world, but yes, I, not the worst thing in the world now, but yes, yeah, I agree.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: Um, at least you got a DM, you want to go off that DM?
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got a DM from J. Marie, who says, hey, Alicia, would you, would be very curious at some point for you guys to touch on Miller on how Miller Moss is doing.
- 1:19:17[SPEAKER_01]: And what do you think the impact of my oba this year is versus sticking with Moss?
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I took a look at their stats on the season and I decided I was just going to do a table with a very plain comparison and then sort of say who had the edge in any given in any given stat, only to realize halfway through that like it was kind of pointless because the answer is just jaded my other, you know.
- 1:19:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll go through it since I took the time.
- 1:19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Completion percentage, my office, 71.9, Moss is 67 yards, my office, 1852, Moss is 1358, touchdowns, my office has 13 passing, Moss has seven.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_01]: Interceptions, my office has two, Moss has four yards per attempt.
- 1:20:10[SPEAKER_01]: My office, 10.8, Moss is 7.6, yards per catch.
- 1:20:15[SPEAKER_01]: My office is 15.1, moss is 11.3.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_01]: My office leads the nation in yards per attempt, and he leads the big ten in yards per completion.
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_01]: His pastor rating is 185.7 to moss is 139.2.
- 1:20:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's been sacked four times to moss is 13.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's rushed for 50 yards to moss is negative 78.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_01]: He has four rushing touchdowns to moss is three.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_01]: his pff grade on the season is 90.1 to mosses 72.6 his record is four and one mosses record is four and one.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, my opposite had a hell of a year, a hundred percent.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think that I think that what we said last season has sort of come to pass in that
- 1:21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Miller Moss is a fine quarterback.
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's not special, but he is, you know, I think functional for most teams that don't have major aspirations.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_01]: And my Ava has a higher ceiling.
- 1:21:16[SPEAKER_01]: He suits the offense better.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_01]: And all that needed to change from my office perspective is better decision-making on the whole to turn him into something that was like far and away a better option.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think what we've seen is his decision-making has been impeccable.
- 1:21:35[SPEAKER_01]: And he has not committed the turnovers that we sort of expected from him based on last season.
- 1:21:42[SPEAKER_03]: He's had two turnovers, both of them.
- 1:21:46[SPEAKER_03]: Two interceptions, both of them were passes, he should not have thrown, but he's done that in twice.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_03]: He did it against saying M, three times.
- 1:21:58[SPEAKER_03]: The most in one game.
- 1:21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Most quarterbacks have more than two interceptions at the stage in the season, you know?
- 1:22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, some of it is like, yeah, my other has made mistakes, but I think we have to reference them relative to what you should expect from a college quarterback.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and what you should expect from a college quarterback is well below what you're getting from Did my office so I think that the the decision to go with my ob uh the decision to let Miller Moscow I think it is paid off and full.
- 1:22:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was the correct decision and Even if even if Miller Moss was having a better season I would say it was a correct decision simply because my ob uh suits this offense so well He suits the offense
- 1:22:40[SPEAKER_03]: very well when he when when you're getting the most out of him absolutely last year there were games in which I was started that they still didn't they didn't run a lot of zone read stuff and like things weren't decidedly different and I think he ended up playing just as sort of poorly as as Miller Moss did at the end of Miller Moss had like some good games at the beginning of his run but he throws the three interceptions against Washington and we talked about it
- 1:23:09[SPEAKER_03]: It was clear that, like, Miller, everyone wanted my half of it, right?
- 1:23:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I was aware of all the comments where, but then when my avocado came in, he was turning the ball over at the same rate, and when Miller monsters, three interceptions on the road at Washington, there's no longer a reason to say that like, he's the guy that you play because he's just, he's going to be less
- 1:23:34[SPEAKER_03]: less mistake prone, right?
- 1:23:36[SPEAKER_03]: And so at that point, you can rip the bandaid and make the switch.
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_03]: They rip the bandaid and make the switch.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that my ava brings a big impact on the games at the end of the year.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_03]: However,
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_03]: In the offseason, he clearly has taken steps forward.
- 1:23:54[SPEAKER_03]: And so if Lincoln Riley makes the decision to be all in on my Ava, not go after a transfer quarterback because he sees that he can develop my Ava into what he is now and calls his shot on that, then 100% it was the right decision and he did it.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_03]: He's getting all the production out of it and my Ava's proven
- 1:24:15[SPEAKER_03]: All the doubters wrong.
- 1:24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 1:24:16[SPEAKER_03]: And all the doubters wrong and all the all the proponents from from last year who wanted him the whole time right even though when he came in last year he wasn't as good as people thought he could be that right like he it's been a good arc it's been a good arc character arc from him which is exactly what you want to see from a guy you want to see development right.
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_03]: All right, rapid fire these last ones, eric in the chat.
- 1:24:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think this might have been from the car cast.
- 1:24:45[SPEAKER_03]: Did the offensive line start of the game and the game or was their ships across the line?
- 1:24:49[SPEAKER_03]: Did you notice those?
- 1:24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that the offensive line that started to the game ended the game.
- 1:24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I can't, I had intended to go in and look more closely.
- 1:24:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I would encourage Eric later this week, I expect Shotguns Brailing.
- 1:25:05[SPEAKER_01]: He usually drops it on Wednesdays.
- 1:25:07[SPEAKER_01]: He will have a participation report that will definitely answer that question.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the starters, by the way.
- 1:25:16[SPEAKER_03]: January read big, big general read at the center, uh, I can really hate how, uh, step broadcast is not, it does these by number order.
- 1:25:27[SPEAKER_03]: So like, uh, Jonah T, Jonah T left a right tackle left.
- 1:25:33[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Jonah T's at left.
- 1:25:34[SPEAKER_03]: He's in for, um, and then, uh, um, all you know, I was like, um, one of you know, I said left guard.
- 1:25:43[SPEAKER_01]: uh... and then but well set right guard and to buy a statement right tackle okay so here we go i can answer this question uh... i'm gonna presume that there were sixty nine plays in this game nice because genre read just in town who to buy a frame in micobin well as sixty eight according to the start practice well they all had uh... sixty though those four had sixty nine offensive snaps
- 1:26:08[SPEAKER_03]: uh... notice i think that they don't want to know how to see i i don't know that's that broadcast counts the neodare's a play mm
- 1:26:18[SPEAKER_03]: Then again, there is a team negative one rush.
- 1:26:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks like Kaylon Miller came in for one flight.
- 1:26:24[SPEAKER_03]: It could be a penalty.
- 1:26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it could be a penalty.
- 1:26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Kaylon Miller came in for one play in place of Aloninoa, but the line, the starting five were all start to finish.
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 1:26:35[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:26:37[SPEAKER_03]: Cameron in the chat says true or false, the ceiling of this defense on Saturday.
- 1:26:42[SPEAKER_03]: We saw the ceiling of this defense on Saturday against Michigan.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that was the ceiling.
- 1:26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I hope to got it wasn't the ceiling.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:26:51[SPEAKER_03]: It certainly wasn't the floor of the ceiling.
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_03]: They can play better, they can play worse.
- 1:26:58[SPEAKER_03]: If that's closer to the floor, I think that'd be great.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like if that's, because the defense wasn't perfect, but they took big strides, right?
- 1:27:06[SPEAKER_03]: If that can be,
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_03]: the baseline expectation and then good games are even better than that, sign ma'am, sign ma'am for that.
- 1:27:14[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I don't think it's the ceiling, I don't think you should hope it's the ceiling either.
- 1:27:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right, D Ron 51 50 says the card you set notes, if nothing else, Notre Dame will be ready.
- 1:27:27[SPEAKER_03]: for the tunnel screens after this film, after the Michigan film would be so easy for them to study the pick plays against this.
- 1:27:39[SPEAKER_03]: What are your thoughts there?
- 1:27:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if I'm no today, I'm getting ready for screens.
- 1:27:42[SPEAKER_01]: I am getting ready for a lot of screens because that's what USC turned to in this game, the tunnel screens to the wider receiver, the little, what do we, they're not slip screens, but they're kind of a variant of a slip screen with the running back fading out with the two linemen.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm essentially a slip.
- 1:28:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's essentially a slip screen.
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I would be absolutely preparing for those screens, and if you're USC, you need to be prepared for those to get sniffed out and have an alternative sort of plan.
- 1:28:16[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe even better is there a way that USC can bait Notre Dame into thinking that
- 1:28:23[SPEAKER_01]: U.S.
- 1:28:23[SPEAKER_01]: is alignment is what they're going to do when they run a tunnel screen and catch them off guard that it's it's a chess game and that this is Marcus Freeman versus Lincoln Riley Marcus Freeman has won that chess game once uh... Lincoln Riley has won that just chess game uh... once and uh... you know i think that
- 1:28:44[SPEAKER_01]: last season was strange because of the miova at all, but at the same time that was by far his best graded game by pff and outside of the two pick sixes he played very well.
- 1:28:58[SPEAKER_01]: So what does miova against Notre Dame look like this year than being familiar with him but also him being
- 1:29:12[SPEAKER_01]: mature quarterback in terms of his decision making at this point.
- 1:29:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it could be really interesting.
- 1:29:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, last year, SC had 7.23 yards for play against another day.
- 1:29:23[SPEAKER_03]: The most of anyone, more than what Ohio State did in the national championship game.
- 1:29:29[SPEAKER_03]: This year,
- 1:29:30[SPEAKER_03]: Text A&M has 7.07 in South Bend in week two.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_03]: But Notre Dame's defense has gotten better the last two weeks, only given up 7 points to Boise State and NC State.
- 1:29:41[SPEAKER_03]: And 4.4 and 4.9 yards per play.
- 1:29:44[SPEAKER_03]: So the D, Notre Dame's defense has gotten better week by week.
- 1:29:48[SPEAKER_03]: But of the two,
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_03]: elite teams that they played at the early, early part of the year, they did give up some, some yardage, absolutely.
- 1:29:56[SPEAKER_03]: So, um, SE has to be more like them.
- 1:29:58[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I, yes, I think that, you absolutely could, could find a way to gain play for this, for this offense.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_03]: I just have a hard time thinking that SE still won't go into South Bend and score 30 points.
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like, Essie's bad offensive performances this year, they've still scored 30 points.
- 1:30:30[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 1:30:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's just what they do.
- 1:30:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:30:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:30:35[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we'll be back Wednesday to talk more USC and Notre Dame.
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_03]: Join us then for PM Pacific Time to preview the Trojans and the Irish College Postgradious Intersectional Library.
- 1:30:48[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk about that.

- 1:31:04[SPEAKER_01]: The final word is sleeping, as in the puppy has been sleeping.
- 1:31:15[SPEAKER_03]: He was doing the smoke detector church.
- 1:31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_01]: He knows the just the tone to pierce through your skull.
- 1:31:25[SPEAKER_01]: I will tell you that.
- 1:31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's so peaceful and jell it he's been calm now We love him.
- 1:31:36[SPEAKER_03]: We love him.
- 1:31:36[SPEAKER_03]: He's lucky.
- 1:31:37[SPEAKER_03]: So all right.
