- 0:04SPEAKER_00: The Father's Business was founded by Sylvia Gunter to encourage people to a deeper relationship with God.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I'm Elizabeth Gunter Powell.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: And I am Kimberly Roddy.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the Father's Business Podcast.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: We are so glad that you've joined us.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Before we begin our podcast today, I wanted to let everyone know that on March the 1st, John Gunter went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Elizabeth recently gave an update.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: So the next podcast or two were previously recorded.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: So we wanted to hop on here and give you a quick update and let you know that, as many of you have been praying and asking about Elizabeth's dad, Sylvia's husband, there was a celebration of life service and his burial on March the 7th, which was also the day of the full moon for this month.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: And if any of you have read Safe in the Father's Heart or read or listen to many of the things that we have published, we often talk about the phrase the moon is round.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: The idea behind that is that the moon is always round, even when we only see a new moon or a sliver of it or a quarter.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: It's always round.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: And it reminds us that God is always present.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: He is always with us, even when we don't think we see him or feel his presence, sense his presence.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: We are very thankful, Elizabeth and Sylvia and their family were able to have that visible reminder on Tuesday.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Continue to pray for Sylvia as she has lost her husband of many years.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: It is a grief beyond words.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: And yet there is much peace that comes with knowing he had a rich relationship with his father and savior.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: And so be praying for her, be praying for Elizabeth and her brothers and their families as they uh remember their dad, their Papa John.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: And so we just um ask you to continue to pray for them.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: John cared a lot about the father's business.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Um, he invested a lot into it, and he wanted um others to continue investing in it.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: And so we will continue to do that.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Thank you for your prayers.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Um continue them for the Gunter family.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you for joining us for this podcast.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: This week we're going to be focusing on the prayers in for the family that cover prayers for generational bondage and prayers of forgiveness for your family, and also the declaration of release.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: As you think about all of this, and I think some of this is I'm mindful of all of this as uh we are in the process of uh losing my dad, all of us come from a generational line.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And I think we are quick to justify our behavior towards our children by saying, Well, you just don't, you don't understand where how I was raised and how I'm parenting you is so much better than the way I was parented.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But I know in my own story, I had to come to a point of understanding that there was a way that my mom and dad were also parented.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Some things were great and some things were not, as are true in all families.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: And so there, as we grow up and become adults, I think there's a need to have some compassion towards the ways our parents may have failed us.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: And just an ability to look at them and go, wow, there were some ways that you weren't parented well.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And so you really didn't have the capacity to parent me in the way that I wanted to be parented because you never experienced that yourself.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Many of you have read my mom's story in the book Safe in the Father's Heart, where her dad was absent from the home for a lot of her life.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And so there she had her own wounding that she needed healing from.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And so there were places where maybe she couldn't mother me and my brothers in the way that we wanted to be mothered because of our own stuff.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And so I've just I've come to a place of a lot more grace and understanding um and forgiveness um with my own parents.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And I think, you know, Kimberly, you have your own story of your dad didn't choose to step out of your life when you were in your 20s.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: But there is a a shift that happens as we get into our, I think, our 30s and our 40s, where we begin to understand there was a whole lot more going on in our families when we were younger than we even fully understand.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And I want to say, real quick up front, this is in no way saying abuse was okay and uh we should forgive things that were harmful to us that were done.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: In a lot of ways, I think we need to give our parents a lot of grace and understand that there are things that have been coming down our generational lines.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: And as our guest Janelle uh talked about, she has a passion that it stops here and it's not gonna be passed down to the next generation.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I think there's just a lot that we can can talk about on this topic of allowing yourself to be healed where you need to be healed so things don't get passed down and also cutting off in the spirit realm, things that maybe have come down your generational line that we don't want to continue.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I'll speak to that real quick too, because I think um there's a a pervasive narrative, at least on social media currently, that talks about you know removing toxic people from your life.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and like you just said, there we're we're in no way giving a license to abuse.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Um, it is not okay when there is abuse of any kind.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Um, and I know that there's a there's a spectrum of abuse.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: There's little tea trauma, there's big T trauma, and it's a complex conversation.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: At the same time, with that, I think we also need to check ourselves if we are running down the path of blame um or if we are running down the path of healing.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Um, because I it it's really easy to get stuck in a, well, I, you know, I grew up in this.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: You don't understand how I grew up and and and in a in an angry place or a victim's place, whichever.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: And I just want to encourage you to check, check your spirit, check your heart, check your mind, look at it, and just ask yourself what's true.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: What do you need to recognize and understand that was wrong, that was done, and stand against that, fight against that, but also understand that there is grace to be offered.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And and um, if you need good counsel around you, good friends around you, whatever you need to walk that path, there's good books out there, there's reasons, there's a lot of resources to to be on that journey.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: But I just want to encourage people to to be on the journey asking and answering those tough questions and doing some serious searching of the heart there rather than jumping into the the easy, less thinking narrative of just flippantly saying things and blaming people.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Let's do the work of breaking the generational bondages and offering forgiveness and extending grace and walking in freedom for sure.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: What can we be?
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: How can we be a part of restoring the ancient ruins?
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: As um we talked about it or in another podcast on Isaiah 61.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: And I think for me in my own journey, especially with my dad, he was very much the provider.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Um, he was hard at work all of the time.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And now as an adult, I can look back and go, my dad was is so introverted, he's almost a hermit.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And having to go to work all day and interact with people all day, when he got home, he was physically, emotionally just done.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And what he wanted to do most after he had dinner with the family sitting around the table is just go in a room and sit by himself and be quiet.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: As a child, that can feel like my dad doesn't want to be around me.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: And there's plenty of good memories of things we did on weekends or whatever, but there was also this feeling sometimes in the house of dad needs to space.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: As I've grown older and I've had an adult relationship, you know, I changed, and and I I am also an introvert, so I began to understand even more.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, there's times when I don't want to talk to anyone, including my husband or my kids.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I just want to sit in a room by myself.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: So there's come understanding in that.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: But there's also places where we've been wounded by either our mom or our dad that they didn't know or don't understand why it hurt.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And at some places, we just have to come to a point that I've had to choose, am I going to have a relationship with them even if I never hear I'm sorry?
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: It's that's part of what we're going to get into in the forgiveness and the release part of the prayers that we're going to kind of pray through with y'all today is letting go of what has been, not saying it was okay, if it was very hurtful, but can you get to a point where you can try to begin to build some relationship with who they are now and you are now, even if you never hear I'm sorry.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: And that's hard.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I think in a lot of our family relationships, like you're saying, Kimberly, if we're just gonna sit in the corner of anger and blame, you miss out on what relationship you can have if you're willing to go, you know what, that was very painful.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: We're never gonna see eye to eye on why that was so painful to me.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna choose to find a way, even if it's just a simple, seemingly shallow connection, even if all we can do is talk about the weather and football, we'll talk about the weather and football to try to have some of that connection because we can't go to those deeper places.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: So I've had to sit in that psalm of not just with my parents, but in other relationships of what happens if they're never gonna, they're never gonna admit their part that was wrong and being able to forgive and release and let go.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I believe that it is very complex.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: And so we recognize that it's a delicate conversation and that's we're not taking it lightly, and we encourage you to have good conversations around it, um, around this topic.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: For now, what we want to do is we just want to take it to the Lord and we want to pray through these prayers.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and we want to start with prayer for generational bondages.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: We want to recognize Revelation 12, 11, that they overcame the adversary by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Father, I confess that my family and I have been bound in generational iniquities.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: You are faithful and just to break these bondages and forgive these sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: We have an advocate, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, who pleads our case.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: All power is in the blood of the Lamb, which sealed our not guilty verdict.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and on the basis of his finished work, I take back from the enemy all ground that our family has given him.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: I reject his influence and cover these areas with the blood of Jesus.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I renounce all unholy communications and relationships established by the powers of darkness in our family line.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I bind, cancel, and break all spirits in our family line that are keeping our family in bondage.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: The enemy has no legal ground in our lives to continue to exploit these generational strongholds because the power of the cross rendered him legally null and void.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: I bring God's word against the enemy.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I submit to God and resist the devil, so he has to flee.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: The finished work of my Lord Jesus Christ binds powers, principalities, rulers of the darkness, thrones, dominions, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: The name and authority of Jesus rebukes, cancels, and nullifies all wicked contracts and assignments of familiar spirits.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: This is a legal cease and desist order.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: The enemy cannot win.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: God contends with those who contend with us.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Captain of the Lord's host, send mighty warrior angels to protect us at the command of Jesus.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: True and living God, send all curses back to their source.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Refer the consequences to the cross of the worthy Lamb of God who bore them by his sinless sacrifice.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: We are your blood-bought children.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Send angels to fill up this house so that nothing can influence us but the power of the living God.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Come, Holy Spirit, into our greatest need and give us a revelation that Jesus is the answer.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Speak grace, truth, wisdom, and revelation to us in love.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: The Lord Jesus Christ has all authority here.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: So, Kimberly, as we now focus on the prayer of forgiveness for the family and the declaration of release, you know, I we've said it before, but I just I think it's so important to say again, when you're forgiving someone for something they've done to you, it's not saying that what they did was okay.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Because some of us have been through some pretty big traumas and some pretty big hurts.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: And that other person may or may not be repentant about it.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: But this is about releasing yourself from holding on to the bitterness and the resentment and the unforgiveness of what has happened.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: But in no way does saying I forgive you equal it was okay that you did that to me.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And forgiveness is also about us and it keeps us in bondage, it keeps us wrapped up like a mummy, unable to move and breathe and have freedom and wholeness.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: And there are times where you can forgive the other person with them, um, in relationship with them.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: And there's other times where you may have to do that work with yourself and the Lord.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Um, maybe they are unable to do that work with you because they are not in a place of that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're unable to do that because they are ill.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're not here any longer.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: You can still do the work of forgiveness.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Many of us have stories where we have gone and sat with the Lord and worked through forgiving another person and releasing them, releasing ourselves from the bondage and forgiving them.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: So um, let's pray this prayer together today.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you, my forgiving Heavenly Father, for the mind of Christ that enables me to forgive as you have forgiven me.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: I place all my expectations on the altar to you.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: My soul finds rest in God alone.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: As Psalm 62 says, my salvation comes from Him.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: I forgive all offenses of sin, weakness, and failure of my family against me.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: You created us in your image, and I choose to forgive my family for not yet becoming all you created him or her to be.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I accept my family with needs, wounds, and hurts that need the healing that only you can give.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Forgive me for looking to a person to give me the love and affirmation that only Jesus can give.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: You are my healer, my satisfaction and my joy.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: And I will look to you for affirmation.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: As Jesus enables us to forgive and accept one another, perfect in us his holy character of unconditional love and servanthood.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Forgive me for my own selfishness and performance-based acceptance of my family.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Love my family through me.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: Enable us to extend grace to each other with unconditional acceptance.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Let us choose no longer to strive with one another, demanding change, love, unselfishness, or understanding.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: Let us truly and freely choose to forgive.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: A family that is living in freedom consists of good forgivers.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Free us from judgment, bitterness, resentment, anger, retaliation, and wall building.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Let us be free to release each other to your love, power, and purposes.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: As God enables me, I will live at peace with my family.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Their wrong actions no longer have permission to wound my spirit.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: I do not have to react to them because I choose to take them to the cross of Jesus Christ.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I choose to live above anger, unforgiveness, and hurt.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Jesus is my life, and by God's grace working in me, I am an overcomer in his spirit.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: I will honor my family as someone that Jesus died for.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: I will bless my family, giving love that never fails, time to do its work.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Love through me without reservation, with the heart of the Father, the grace of the Son, and the power of the Spirit.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Thank you, loving Father, that I am free in Jesus, seated at your right hand.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: I am released to be a channel of your freedom, forgiveness, and healing to our family.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: So our last prayer today is a declaration of release.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: And um, this is what I have to come back to often.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Like it's not a one-time declaration of release.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: It's every time I feel myself trying to uh hold on a little too tight or want to interfere in a way that God is not asking me to interfere in the lives of my family.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: And actually, for all three of these, you may need to listen to these repeatedly and just allow God to do a deep work in you as he speaks to you through these prayers.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: So let's pray the declaration of release.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: And we make this declaration of release for our family for God to keep which he has committed to him against that day, which is found in 2 Timothy 1.12, one of my favorite verses.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: So because Jesus Christ is my Lord, I free you from my anxiety, fear, and control.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: I place you at God's throne of grace.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: I cannot impose my will on you.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I know that I cannot live your life for you.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: You are a very special person.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: As much as I love you, God loves you more.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: I have given you back to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Your life today is totally in his hands, and I trust him with it.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: I entrust you to the deposit of God in you for him to work in you in his time and in his way.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: I trust the Holy Spirit to draw you and show you the way that is right, the way of love, joy, and peace, and all that salvation includes.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name, I give you my blessings, I loose you, and I let you go.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: We hope these prayers have been a good model for you on how you can be praying for freedom for your family, for forgiveness for yourself and for others in your family, and listen to them as often as needed that your heart can be pure and free and in a place to really be uh Jesus with skin on to those people in your family.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, in two weeks, we're gonna have a question-answer session uh where we're gonna take questions on anything that we've covered in for the family and any other thing you any other questions you can come up with about praying for your family members, for your husband, spiritual warfare, praying on the armor.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: And so we would love for you to submit questions to us either at our email address, which is info at thefathersbusiness.com, or you can send us uh a message on Instagram or Facebook at the Father's Biz, or you can go to our website and hit the contact us and send us a message through there.

- 20:53SPEAKER_00: We'll gather up all those questions and we're looking forward to having a question and answer session with you in a few weeks.
