- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hello everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 3: It's just it's been so long, and I'm so excited
- 0:11Speaker 3: to get back in front of the mic and actually
- 0:14Speaker 3: bring it back to the OG's kind of really truly
- 0:17Speaker 3: bring it back to the ogs, obviously with my lovely
- 0:22Speaker 3: co host Bob Guinea, who is looking trim and tan,
- 0:25Speaker 3: and I'm very jealous about that.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Thanks. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 0:30Speaker 4: You know, when you're when you're our age and you
- 0:32Speaker 4: have a six year old and a three year old
- 0:33Speaker 4: and you find out your cholesterols for the roof, you
- 0:35Speaker 4: do whatever you can to get in shape fast. So
- 0:38Speaker 4: that that and a lot of travel has basically been
- 0:41Speaker 4: the gist of it.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But thank you. That's a very nice compliment. I appreciate it,
- 0:45Speaker 1: of course. And I've missed you, t Bone. I have
- 0:47Speaker 1: missed you, my friend.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I know it's really been forever.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I mean, I know you're doing the I Do Part
- 0:56Speaker 3: two every so often, and I just I'm like, I
- 1:00Speaker 3: am just out in never never Land on an island,
- 1:04Speaker 3: just waiting. Just give me a call, pick me, pick me.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Well, I am so glad we're back, and I'm really
- 1:10Speaker 4: glad to be back. I mean, I I've been kind
- 1:13Speaker 4: of excited about this one for a while to have
- 1:17Speaker 4: basically you talk about ogs. This is about as og
- 1:20Speaker 4: as it's gotten for us on this show. Only well
- 1:25Speaker 4: obviously you and I are o G episode every day,
- 1:27Speaker 4: but when we had Ryan on, of course, that was
- 1:30Speaker 4: that was about as og as it gets.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And then this one.
- 1:34Speaker 4: I mean, this dude was my partnering crime on your
- 1:37Speaker 4: season when we were on the Trista season of the
- 1:40Speaker 4: inaugural season of The Bacheorette, and it was incredible. I
- 1:45Speaker 4: don't know what either one of us would have done
- 1:46Speaker 4: without each other on the on the show. And I
- 1:51Speaker 4: leaned on him a lot, he leaned on me a lot.
- 1:53Speaker 4: But we were we were basically Mutt and Jeff in
- 1:56Speaker 4: it through your season night one, literally from night one
- 2:02Speaker 4: until now. I mean, I am still He's the guy
- 2:05Speaker 4: I keep in the most touch with besides you, of course,
- 2:08Speaker 4: from from that season of the show, and we've remained
- 2:10Speaker 4: very very very good friends. And and he's he's we
- 2:14Speaker 4: always used to joke at that time, I said, gosh,
- 2:17Speaker 4: with his face and everything else of me, we make
- 2:22Speaker 4: one really nice guy.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That was the only Jamie, because Jamie was just such
- 2:31Speaker 1: a hot mess.
- 2:32Speaker 4: And we're talking about my buddy, Jamie blythe who is
- 2:36Speaker 4: a is a wonderful person, and we just would rip
- 2:40Speaker 4: on each other constantly and it was so much fun.
- 2:42Speaker 4: And we brought Ryan into that mix more than once.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Ryan and I would tease it with Jamie, and Jamie's
- 2:48Speaker 4: just so great.
- 2:48Speaker 1: At taking it.
- 2:49Speaker 4: But he's you talk about somebody who's overcome some stuff
- 2:53Speaker 4: in his life. You know, you wouldn't look at this
- 2:55Speaker 4: guy and think he has a single problem in the world, right,
- 2:58Speaker 4: But then you you get to know him a little bit,
- 3:00Speaker 4: and there's so much when you peel the onion, there's
- 3:02Speaker 4: so much more to him than he even gives himself
- 3:04Speaker 4: credit for. And he's really leaned into it. He's really
- 3:06Speaker 4: embraced it. And I love that and I love him
- 3:10Speaker 4: for that, Yeah, I really do. But I think it's
- 3:12Speaker 4: gonna be such a fun reunion to have the three
- 3:14Speaker 4: of us together because the last time the three of
- 3:16Speaker 4: us were together, and I will bring this up, by
- 3:18Speaker 4: the way, I will bring up this story. I'll actually
- 3:21Speaker 4: say that, I'll say of it because I know you
- 3:24Speaker 4: know the story. He knows it really well. But I'll
- 3:27Speaker 4: never forget our beach date with Jamie.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Do you remember that one? Yes? I did?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Sure do.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You've told this story before, so it's not like our
- 3:40Speaker 3: listeners are going to be shocked.
- 3:42Speaker 2: But yes, it is a funny story. Okay, I think
- 3:45Speaker 2: he's in the waiting room, So are you ready to
- 3:46Speaker 2: bring him in?
- 3:47Speaker 1: I am. Let's do it. Let's do it, so, Trista.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Since the last time you've seen me, which might have
- 3:53Speaker 5: been like nineteen forty five, sometimes.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Briefly right after World War Two, I think little bit.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a long time.
- 4:02Speaker 5: It has been a long time. I've gained thirty pounds
- 4:04Speaker 5: since then. I bet you I'm bob. What are you
- 4:06Speaker 5: weighing on? I bet I'm two ten. I bet you
- 4:08Speaker 5: I got you beat.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You're two pounds heavier than me.
- 4:12Speaker 6: There we go. It all came full circle. Buddy.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Let me just say this.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I cannot I've never tried harder to get someone on
- 4:22Speaker 4: this show in my life.
- 4:23Speaker 6: You've never dealt with someone dumber.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That's valid.
- 4:27Speaker 7: That's what we've got.
- 4:28Speaker 2: We've got dumb and dumber shop we do.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Oh lord, you guys need to get together for Halloween
- 4:34Speaker 3: and actually like dress up like dumming. Could you please
- 4:37Speaker 3: that could we do a Halloween episode.
- 4:40Speaker 5: My son realized very early well COVID that I was
- 4:44Speaker 5: an idiot because Seema's very smart, she's great at math
- 4:48Speaker 5: as mother, and I was trying to do kindergarten maybe
- 4:52Speaker 5: first grade math.
- 4:53Speaker 6: I'm like, I can't do that. I don't know.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It's really hard. Now, do you give yourself some credit?
- 4:59Speaker 3: Because the way that they teach math now, it's really hard.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I was going to say, it's not the old school math,
- 5:04Speaker 4: and you got to show your work, and like for
- 5:07Speaker 4: us showing our work, you'll end with the same answer,
- 5:10Speaker 4: but you got to do it in this different way,
- 5:11Speaker 4: which I'm going to have to tackle next year.
- 5:14Speaker 6: I'll stick to the sports.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah good, I did exactly.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Let the teachers do their job. You stick to basketball.
- 5:21Speaker 1: How are you.
- 5:22Speaker 6: I'm doing great.
- 5:23Speaker 5: It's probably been like corenty something years since, like we've spoken.
- 5:27Speaker 5: I bet something like that.
- 5:29Speaker 2: At least twenty years.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I mean, obviously you were at the wedding that was
- 5:33Speaker 3: will be twenty two years in December, but I feel
- 5:37Speaker 3: like we saw each other at some point after that.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 5:41Speaker 5: I'm sure there was like some an event of some
- 5:44Speaker 5: sort that we saw each other for sure.
- 5:46Speaker 1: At my season premiere. Well, yeah, yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 6: That's probably what it was.
- 5:51Speaker 1: That would have been.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Do you have pictures from that, Bob?
- 5:54Speaker 4: I found some a while ago Andrew fire someone I
- 5:56Speaker 4: got a couple and sent them to me too, and
- 5:58Speaker 4: so I had a couple from that.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Hey, Bob, this is kind of funny.
- 6:01Speaker 5: I was going through some old stuff here and you
- 6:03Speaker 5: won't be able to see this, but this is in
- 6:05Speaker 5: the Chicago Tribune or sometimes or one of those, and
- 6:09Speaker 5: it reads, Jamie blythe Bachelor, Bob was a lot funnier
- 6:15Speaker 5: when he was fat. And then they go, this was
- 6:20Speaker 5: I just saw this today. I was looking for some
- 6:22Speaker 5: stuff and they say, do you detect a little jealousy
- 6:25Speaker 5: from bachelor at Jamie?
- 6:29Speaker 1: So wait, you said that and they were ripping on you.
- 6:32Speaker 6: They wrote that in the Tribune. So I thought you
- 6:33Speaker 6: would enjoy.
- 6:34Speaker 1: That, you know, I love that. Yeah, I love that.
- 6:38Speaker 4: But you weren't wrong. I was funnier, and uh, you
- 6:42Speaker 4: know they just edited me. They edited me romantically.
- 6:45Speaker 3: On the Batchel Oh yeah, yeah, I know, because when
- 6:48Speaker 3: you did when you did the Irish jig, that was edited.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember remember when we when we Uh, I
- 6:55Speaker 4: think you might remember this. By know Jamie will remember this.
- 6:58Speaker 4: So Jamie comes on, because you and I have talked
- 7:01Speaker 4: about this twist. But I remember I gave this speech
- 7:04Speaker 4: night one when I'm the bachelor, right, and I'm I
- 7:07Speaker 4: give this speech about you know, hey, ladies, this is
- 7:10Speaker 4: no prize, this is nothing to be upset about. In fact,
- 7:14Speaker 4: I remember saying if you are sent home tonight, you're welcome.
- 7:21Speaker 4: The only the women will stay. I'm sorry, I remember
- 7:25Speaker 4: saying something like that, and and I was like, oh
- 7:27Speaker 4: my god, that's gonna be so great when they air that,
- 7:29Speaker 4: because that's truly how I feel.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And they don't air it. They only air like, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 1: the Prince Charming moments or whatever. And You're like, come on, man.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I even said, I was like a date with me
- 7:40Speaker 4: at home. We are not Hella choppering it into a volcano.
- 7:45Speaker 1: No, no, no, my lady.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Friend, we are grabbing we are grabbing my my my
- 7:52Speaker 4: two speed chavette and we are cruising downtown Detroit.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You know, I was like, you know, I mean, it
- 7:58Speaker 1: was just but none of that, manut, none of that.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Me the air.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So yeah, of course it came up.
- 8:12Speaker 6: So you know what was so great was.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I was like absolutely just terrified to go on that show.
- 8:19Speaker 5: And I was the first guy out of the limo.
- 8:22Speaker 5: I'm figuring they're going to give me some direction. They
- 8:25Speaker 5: didn't tell me anything, so I just kind of got
- 8:28Speaker 5: out and it was sort of like kind of like dumb, dumber.
- 8:30Speaker 5: I'm just sort of looking around because there's like producers,
- 8:33Speaker 5: there's Trista, there's all these people, and I think they
- 8:36Speaker 5: did two takes?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Did they?
- 8:38Speaker 6: I don't know, I'm pretty sure.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, So wheat had you watched the show before?
- 8:44Speaker 6: No? I had no frame of reference.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And you're obviously we know why you didn't want to
- 8:52Speaker 3: apply to the show or it was kind of out
- 8:54Speaker 3: of your comfort zone. We'll talk about that a little
- 8:56Speaker 3: bit later, but you know, you didn't think it was
- 9:01Speaker 3: something that you could do, So I'd love to know
- 9:04Speaker 3: why you did it. Like I, you overcame a lot
- 9:09Speaker 3: of you know, mental stress.
- 9:13Speaker 5: It was absolutely terrifying for me. So I was pretty
- 9:16Speaker 5: late in the game. I was actually at a I
- 9:18Speaker 5: think I was at a bar at Sunset for like
- 9:20Speaker 5: some sales award I had won, and Lisa Levinson was
- 9:23Speaker 5: there and she said, hey, you'd be great for the
- 9:26Speaker 5: show The Bachelor. Should they actually kind of leapfrog me
- 9:30Speaker 5: for the Bachelor? But Bobby, how much of a disaster
- 9:32Speaker 5: with that?
- 9:32Speaker 1: About?
- 9:33Speaker 6: Holy cow?
- 9:34Speaker 1: You would have been great dude?
- 9:38Speaker 6: Right?
- 9:39Speaker 5: But anyway, when I was you know, Bobby's heard the
- 9:42Speaker 5: story bunch. But when I was nineteen, kind of out
- 9:44Speaker 5: of nowhere, I had a panic attack. I was never
- 9:49Speaker 5: socially phobic. I never had a panic attack. I didn't
- 9:52Speaker 5: know what it was. I won't go through the whole
- 9:55Speaker 5: long story, but the long and short of it is
- 9:59Speaker 5: my the biggest fear became people. So I literally had
- 10:02Speaker 5: clinical panic disorder in sociophobia. So it happened talking to
- 10:05Speaker 5: a person in college. I was probably one month in
- 10:09Speaker 5: and then kind of like anybody, but back, especially thirty
- 10:12Speaker 5: years ago, I didn't know what the hell it was. Right,
- 10:14Speaker 5: It's not like they talked about this stuff and it just,
- 10:19Speaker 5: you know, I thought it was a one time occurrence.
- 10:20Speaker 5: I was talking to a buddy. It was in the morning,
- 10:22Speaker 5: maybe one month into school, and then I'm like, all right, well,
- 10:26Speaker 5: what the hell was that? And then I went to
- 10:28Speaker 5: class and I had to talk in class, and I
- 10:31Speaker 5: was always okay with it. I was never great at it,
- 10:33Speaker 5: but I was always okay with it, and all of
- 10:35Speaker 5: a sudden, I had a panic attack there, and you know,
- 10:39Speaker 5: I'm sure it was just a lot of stress from
- 10:40Speaker 5: college and just change and all these things going on.
- 10:44Speaker 6: And then I left the.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Class and then everywhere I went after that, I had
- 10:49Speaker 5: a panic attack. So it creates avoidance, and then so
- 10:54Speaker 5: you know, I just I didn't leave my dorm room
- 10:56Speaker 5: for two weeks.
- 10:58Speaker 6: And then my mom called me and she said, what's
- 11:03Speaker 6: going on.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I broke down crying, and then she had had a
- 11:06Speaker 5: panic attack before, so she kind of knew what was
- 11:09Speaker 5: going on, which was thankful to me. I just thought
- 11:11Speaker 5: I was going crazy, right, and I didn't know it
- 11:15Speaker 5: was kind of that other people had this. I didn't
- 11:17Speaker 5: even know what it was.
- 11:19Speaker 6: And then she was, you know, was trying to get
- 11:20Speaker 6: me to leave school and to pick me up to
- 11:22Speaker 6: go home, and I just, you know, knowing Bob knows
- 11:26Speaker 6: my personality, I'm a little hard headed, and I think
- 11:29Speaker 6: we all are a little bit. We're all fun but
- 11:31Speaker 6: hard headed probably at the same time. And I just
- 11:33Speaker 6: I there was part of me that I couldn't quit.
- 11:36Speaker 6: I didn't want to necessarily give into it. I didn't
- 11:39Speaker 6: know how to fight it, so ultimately I did. I
- 11:44Speaker 6: made it through the year.
- 11:46Speaker 5: But you know, if you fast forward through college, I
- 11:49Speaker 5: just sort of lived on the periphery where if you're
- 11:52Speaker 5: at a big school, you know you could You went
- 11:56Speaker 5: to Indiana, right and Bob, I know, you went to
- 11:59Speaker 5: Michigan State. So if you're at a big school, you
- 12:01Speaker 5: could kind of hang out in the back of class.
- 12:03Speaker 5: You don't have to talk that type of thing. So
- 12:05Speaker 5: my mom was a registrar to school, so she picked
- 12:07Speaker 5: classes where I didn't have to do that. And I
- 12:10Speaker 5: made it out of college in four years by just
- 12:12Speaker 5: sort of isolating myself.
- 12:13Speaker 6: I didn't go on dates.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I didn't go on one date from nineteen to maybe
- 12:17Speaker 5: twenty four or five. And where I overcame it was
- 12:23Speaker 5: in sales. So there was a guy where I grew
- 12:26Speaker 5: up on the basketball court. I was always pretty comfortable
- 12:28Speaker 5: playing basketball, and he just he said, Hey, I'm doing
- 12:32Speaker 5: this startup tech company. Do you want to be one
- 12:35Speaker 5: of my sales guys. And that's where I really dealt
- 12:38Speaker 5: with it. And it was the hardest thing outside of
- 12:40Speaker 5: maybe the bacherette, that I've ever done. But every day
- 12:44Speaker 5: you had to like a quote. If you didn't hit
- 12:46Speaker 5: it for one month, you were fired. And it was intense.
- 12:50Speaker 5: You had to do one hundred two hundred cod calls
- 12:52Speaker 5: a day, so I was getting exposure every single day
- 12:58Speaker 5: to what I was afraid of. But the second week
- 13:00Speaker 5: on the job, we had to do this role play,
- 13:03Speaker 5: which is Bob, I know you were in sales and
- 13:05Speaker 5: maybe had to do some of this, But the president
- 13:07Speaker 5: was this typical kind of hard ass guy from a movie.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Glengarry Glenn ROSSI that type of guy.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, And I mean you could put this guy
- 13:16Speaker 5: in the movie and he would be be the same,
- 13:18Speaker 5: you know. So he had it was on stage and
- 13:22Speaker 5: I had a role play with this guy, and I
- 13:24Speaker 5: was the last guy to go.
- 13:25Speaker 6: There's probably one hundred people nowadays. I walked up there.
- 13:28Speaker 5: I'm twenty one years old, trying to hide a panic
- 13:30Speaker 5: disorder that nobody knew I had, and I was trying
- 13:35Speaker 5: to control it to the best of my abilities. And
- 13:36Speaker 5: then I went up there and I was a toast.
- 13:39Speaker 5: I just started a panic right away, and I'm like,
- 13:41Speaker 5: I'm a fed right, And so what happened is you
- 13:46Speaker 5: just shut down, and it's kind of like if you
- 13:49Speaker 5: know people what does it feel like if somebody put
- 13:51Speaker 5: a gun to your head randomly, like right now, you'd
- 13:54Speaker 5: feel fight or flight? Right it's light, so that's what
- 13:58Speaker 5: I felt. So it's just at the long time because
- 14:00Speaker 5: you're talking to a person. So your whole thing is, well,
- 14:04Speaker 5: I got to.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Leave, I got to escape. I got to get out
- 14:06Speaker 6: of there. And luckily the guy got a phone call
- 14:08Speaker 6: the last second and he said, hey, you got saved.
- 14:11Speaker 5: You knew I was scared, and I was about to
- 14:14Speaker 5: break down, crying and just walk out and leave, and
- 14:16Speaker 5: then my mom picked me up. We went to dinner
- 14:18Speaker 5: and my face just fell in the past. I remember that,
- 14:21Speaker 5: just bawling, crying, and again it was you need to quit,
- 14:23Speaker 5: you need to quit, you need to quit, that type
- 14:25Speaker 5: of thing. No, I won't go through the whole story,
- 14:27Speaker 5: but that was where I overcame it. I worked twenty
- 14:31Speaker 5: four to seven. I never slept. I still don't sleep really.
- 14:34Speaker 5: I probably slept an hour a night if that. And
- 14:38Speaker 5: I just worked on my presentation. I worked on everything
- 14:42Speaker 5: that you kind of need to do to confront beating
- 14:45Speaker 5: an anxiety disorder, which you don't really beat it. But
- 14:48Speaker 5: I was in the ring, so to speak, and then
- 14:51Speaker 5: it was very incremental. The people that I value were
- 14:56Speaker 5: sports people, especially coaches. Rick Patino, I basically plagiarized its book.
- 15:01Speaker 5: I hope he never reads mine. He probably won't, but
- 15:04Speaker 5: I really took a lot of my philosophy from him.
- 15:06Speaker 6: I read all the books, and you know, from therapists.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I saw therapists this sus great I needed, but they
- 15:12Speaker 5: didn't have an anxiety disorder, right.
- 15:14Speaker 6: I wanted somebody that can I could relate to.
- 15:18Speaker 5: And that kind of goes back to the show I'm doing,
- 15:19Speaker 5: where I'm interviewing people that didn't necessarily have an anxiety
- 15:22Speaker 5: disorder per se, but.
- 15:25Speaker 6: I could relate to them. They had some sort of
- 15:27Speaker 6: adversity that they had overcome, and that's kind of the
- 15:30Speaker 6: universal thing for all of us. But going back to
- 15:32Speaker 6: your question really quick.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Sorry, going on the show was terrifying, but I had
- 15:36Speaker 5: incrementally sort of built myself to a place where I
- 15:40Speaker 5: could kind of face it. But if it was twenty two,
- 15:43Speaker 5: twenty three, twenty four or five years old, I couldn't
- 15:46Speaker 5: have done it. There's no way. I mean, I just
- 15:48Speaker 5: wasn't there yet. And I really wasn't there when I
- 15:50Speaker 5: did the show and so I didn't know what was
- 15:53Speaker 5: going to happen. But the night before there was a
- 15:56Speaker 5: real concern that I was going to break down crying
- 15:58Speaker 5: on the show pan attack.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That was a concern of yours, Jamie or the pretty.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, well I thought I thought I was going
- 16:07Speaker 5: to break down. Actually this goes back to you. You
- 16:08Speaker 5: saved my ass, but I'll go back to that. But yeah, no,
- 16:12Speaker 5: I thought I was going to break down crying with
- 16:13Speaker 5: a panic attack. But I was at a place where
- 16:16Speaker 5: I was willing to confront it. Yeah, and whether even
- 16:20Speaker 5: if I did that, even if and I knew the
- 16:21Speaker 5: cameras would follow me unexploited, I knew all that, which
- 16:24Speaker 5: intensifies the fear right because if you're if you have panic,
- 16:28Speaker 5: the sort of social phobia, the last thing you want
- 16:29Speaker 5: to do is be the center of attention. You don't
- 16:31Speaker 5: want to be on a camera, you don't want lights
- 16:33Speaker 5: on you.
- 16:34Speaker 6: You just want to escape and avoid.
- 16:37Speaker 5: So my whole thing was confront and if I fail,
- 16:39Speaker 5: meaning public humiliation, great.
- 16:43Speaker 6: I was at that place where I was kind of strong.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Enough to do that and kind of radical acceptance of
- 16:49Speaker 5: any outcome was what I was looking for. But it
- 16:52Speaker 5: was supremely hard. But when I got out of that
- 16:54Speaker 5: limo and I saw you, I made it quick. You
- 16:57Speaker 5: look you know it was you looked great. I said hi,
- 17:01Speaker 5: and I was on my way. And then I went
- 17:03Speaker 5: and sat in this mansion and I was kind of like,
- 17:06Speaker 5: what the hell am I doing here? This is crazy?
- 17:08Speaker 5: What did I get myself into? I am like, I
- 17:11Speaker 5: am dead? And then this guy walks in. I can't
- 17:13Speaker 5: remember his name anything.
- 17:14Speaker 6: It was Billy or something, you.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Know, talking to him, and he was sort of hyper competitive,
- 17:19Speaker 5: like if you wanted to win this damn thing, you
- 17:21Speaker 5: could just tell And I'm like, I don't know if
- 17:23Speaker 5: I want to be here.
- 17:25Speaker 6: And then Bob walks in, like I think right after him.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Maybe I was. I was number three. I was number
- 17:31Speaker 1: three out of the law.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Ryan was after you, right, Wasn't Ryan
- 17:36Speaker 3: the fourth?
- 17:36Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 17:37Speaker 2: He was the last one out of the first limo?
- 17:38Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 17:39Speaker 6: What was so great about what Bob did? I mean?
- 17:42Speaker 5: It was it was honestly amazing because when you when
- 17:46Speaker 5: you look at how nervous I was, and then you
- 17:48Speaker 5: look at how and you'd have to tell me, Bob,
- 17:50Speaker 5: you didn't you were the opposite. You were having fun.
- 17:54Speaker 5: And I knew you were screwing with this guy. And
- 17:56Speaker 5: it was probably my favorite conversation of my entire life.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I told you I met him years later, didn't I. No, Okay,
- 18:03Speaker 4: go ahead, you tell the story and then and I'll
- 18:04Speaker 4: tell it.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'll tell you that.
- 18:05Speaker 6: This is how I recall it. It was so long ago,
- 18:07Speaker 6: but I remember we're kind of all talking what.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Do you do?
- 18:10Speaker 6: What do you do? What do you do?
- 18:12Speaker 5: And uh and the guy who was trying to a
- 18:14Speaker 5: kind of badass and he's like, I'm a martial artist.
- 18:17Speaker 6: And then you go, I'm also a martial artist.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I said, I too, am a martial artist.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Yes, And I knew you were screwing with him. And
- 18:25Speaker 6: I'm like, this is this guy really screwing up?
- 18:27Speaker 5: This guy here, Like we just got in here and
- 18:30Speaker 5: I had been sitting in this damn mansion for like
- 18:31Speaker 5: an hour, and and the guy got kind of you know, competitive,
- 18:37Speaker 5: and he goes, what's your discipline? And you go, tybo,
- 18:40Speaker 5: and he goes, that's not a discipline. And you go,
- 18:43Speaker 5: do you tell that to Billy Blanks will kick your ass.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I mean, it was just the And then you push
- 18:50Speaker 5: that guy out in the center of the ring, like
- 18:53Speaker 5: in the carpet when we were all there and you
- 18:55Speaker 5: told him to do the dance.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Do is like martial art moves in front of trista guys,
- 19:03Speaker 6: do it?
- 19:04Speaker 7: Who was it?
- 19:05Speaker 2: What's his name?
- 19:06Speaker 6: I think it was Billy right.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I have him in my phone and I will tell
- 19:09Speaker 1: you this.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Do you have it under martial artist?
- 19:12Speaker 1: I have that. I do have an under hold on
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I have it at.
- 19:15Speaker 4: So, by the way, you know what. He was a firefighter.
- 19:18Speaker 4: His name was Billy Perlata.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Billy Billy. He went, he left the first night.
- 19:23Speaker 4: He did Billy Peralta and he was a firefighter at
- 19:25Speaker 4: the time in l A. And now and now he's
- 19:28Speaker 4: in Louisville, or not Louisville, maybe he was in Ohio
- 19:31Speaker 4: or something. But he was at the derby and he
- 19:33Speaker 4: came over to me and he's like, man, I don't
- 19:35Speaker 4: know if you remember me or not, but I had
- 19:38Speaker 4: I had the best memories of you from that night.
- 19:40Speaker 4: And he's like, you told me that you did martial
- 19:43Speaker 4: art with Billy Billy Blanks.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh my god, I'm like I remember that.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Do you remember that?
- 19:51Speaker 1: Yes, he was gonna kill me because he.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Pushed him into the thing and he was like, he
- 19:55Speaker 5: went like that and then he starts jumping around like
- 19:57Speaker 5: a monkey.
- 20:00Speaker 6: I think you cut him first.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Well I cut him that night. That's not why I
- 20:04Speaker 2: think he was really young, really.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Young he was because he's super young now. I mean
- 20:08Speaker 1: he's still such a nice guy too.
- 20:10Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh my god, yes, I totally remember you,
- 20:13Speaker 4: and yeah, I do remember that.
- 20:16Speaker 7: Oh man, I have a question.
- 20:28Speaker 3: So after you know, obviously we can talk about the
- 20:32Speaker 3: show too, but afterwards, you know, they give you the
- 20:34Speaker 3: opportunities to speak to a psychologist. Did you ever consult
- 20:39Speaker 3: with a psychologist before, during, or after the show to
- 20:42Speaker 3: talk about before?
- 20:44Speaker 6: I did, and I think I just lied about it.
- 20:48Speaker 5: In retrospect, I think I was really intense for The
- 20:52Speaker 5: Bachelor because I was like, which, again, they have to
- 20:55Speaker 5: be smoking crack. But I was like, final four or
- 20:57Speaker 5: five for The Bachelor, they sort of leave frog me. Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 5: and then so that was pretty obviously you guys went
- 21:05Speaker 5: through that.
- 21:05Speaker 6: But yeah, for.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Aaron Burgee's season, you were being looked at for the
- 21:09Speaker 3: Bachelor for.
- 21:10Speaker 7: That a season.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Yeah, remember, like, yeah, a few people that we would
- 21:13Speaker 5: both know that are pretty big names were vying for
- 21:15Speaker 5: it that I.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Won't mention their names, but why not mention their names?
- 21:19Speaker 4: Oh?
- 21:19Speaker 5: One of them is a friend of mine and he
- 21:21Speaker 5: went on a different show, Bill Rantick.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Bill Ransick.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Bill is such a First of all, love Bill
- 21:28Speaker 4: Ransick and he's a great guy.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'll never get him bring it up to me.
- 21:31Speaker 4: He's like, you know, they talked to me about The Bachelor,
- 21:34Speaker 4: and I was like, no kidding, and.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I didn't know the timing of it.
- 21:36Speaker 4: And he's like, it would have been before you were
- 21:38Speaker 4: even on the Bachelorette and he's like yeah, And then
- 21:40Speaker 4: they came to me with a different show and he
- 21:42Speaker 4: was and I just felt like that show was more
- 21:44Speaker 4: my speed. And I'm like, yeah, I think you and
- 21:46Speaker 4: you ended up leinning it, you know, which is amazing.
- 21:48Speaker 4: You ended up learning the Apprentice.
- 21:50Speaker 6: He's a he's a great guy.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Good, he's a friend of mine and yeah, obviously from Chicago,
- 21:54Speaker 5: but love that guy. The Apprentice would have been a
- 21:56Speaker 5: better show for me. But yeah, Tristan, they slide to him.
- 22:00Speaker 5: I never mentioned it. I was doing my best to
- 22:03Speaker 5: hide it and just to see what would happened. And
- 22:06Speaker 5: then I knew, like even at the worst of it
- 22:09Speaker 5: that you know, it sounds a cliche and kind of
- 22:13Speaker 5: cheesy or whatever, but I knew there was some growth
- 22:16Speaker 5: on the other side of just facing something that fearful
- 22:19Speaker 5: for me, I guess for you, like I was scared
- 22:22Speaker 5: out of my mind. So you guys both went through
- 22:24Speaker 5: the same thing. But Trista was the first Bacheorette ever. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 5: so it kind of goes back to like when I
- 22:30Speaker 5: reviewed Mike Tyson. I'm very interested in that because I
- 22:33Speaker 5: know the night before I didn't sleep. I was outrageously
- 22:36Speaker 5: scared because of what I was dealing with. But you
- 22:38Speaker 5: guys were the batchleror bacheorette. What does that feel like
- 22:42Speaker 5: the night before? I mean, were you nervous? Did you
- 22:45Speaker 5: have any doubt? Did you have any fear?
- 22:47Speaker 3: Heck, yeah, yes, a lot.
- 22:51Speaker 7: I mean I was.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I think I bet Bob would feel the same, and
- 22:54Speaker 3: I think certainly all the leads feel in a way
- 22:58Speaker 3: the same. I feel like you're really excited it for
- 23:00Speaker 3: the potential of, you know, your future, and then it's
- 23:04Speaker 3: also like, oh my gosh, what am I doing? Like
- 23:07Speaker 3: you said, I feel like that's probably a very common
- 23:10Speaker 3: sentiment with anyone who goes on the show, and then
- 23:13Speaker 3: I have to say, you know, you said, you know,
- 23:16Speaker 3: going through the worst of it. You know, after you
- 23:20Speaker 3: publicly announced that you had suffered and were suffering from
- 23:24Speaker 3: panic disorder, all I could think about was, oh, my gosh,
- 23:28Speaker 3: you were the biggest Why were you so.
- 23:30Speaker 7: Mean to Jamie?
- 23:31Speaker 3: Even though I didn't feel like I was mean to Jamie,
- 23:33Speaker 3: but I was. I was like, honest, But if I
- 23:37Speaker 3: had known that you suffered through panic disorder, like I
- 23:41Speaker 3: definitely wouldn't have been like, oh yeah, you can kiss me.
- 23:45Speaker 6: You were I thought you were. No, I thought you
- 23:48Speaker 6: were great. Actually, know where it came out.
- 23:53Speaker 5: I think this is where because you know, I didn't
- 23:55Speaker 5: realize they had hidden mics everywhere.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, I think.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Me and you were talking about something personal between both
- 24:02Speaker 5: of us, and I told you that in confidence.
- 24:05Speaker 2: There I think, oh you did, okay.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I think so that's a guess.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Actually that does that does sound familiar now that you're
- 24:13Speaker 3: saying that show they have maybe on the during the
- 24:19Speaker 3: the SPA date. I don't know, maybe during the spot.
- 24:23Speaker 6: So let's talk about that. That that date, So.
- 24:27Speaker 5: If you want to talk about I'm sure it was
- 24:29Speaker 5: awful for you, but like that that.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Was the full stop it.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Well, hold on, hold on, let's let this stage a
- 24:35Speaker 1: little bit here.
- 24:36Speaker 4: So, okay, it's trist this season of The Bachelorette, right,
- 24:40Speaker 4: Jamie and I are on a date with Trista. I
- 24:45Speaker 4: want I want to tell the story that leads into
- 24:47Speaker 4: the story first.
- 24:48Speaker 1: So we are to the beach. We're on the beach.
- 24:51Speaker 6: Well that was a different one, but yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that was a different date.
- 24:55Speaker 2: This was this was the full party.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the sad was.
- 24:58Speaker 2: The full party.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Right, so this was the first time that this something
- 25:04Speaker 4: of this nature may have happened, so I'll never forget it.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I am standing there and I don't know what.
- 25:11Speaker 4: To do, and one of the producers says, well, hey, Bob,
- 25:15Speaker 4: you know, Trista came to us earlier today and said, god,
- 25:19Speaker 4: I really, I really, I feel like Bob's in the
- 25:22Speaker 4: friend zone and I really want them to kiss me.
- 25:25Speaker 1: And I'm like really, and they're like, oh.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm like and I've gotten to know Trista,
- 25:30Speaker 4: We've got to know you really well at this point,
- 25:32Speaker 4: I feel, and I'm like, so you're telling me that
- 25:34Speaker 4: Trista walked up to you and said, man, today would
- 25:38Speaker 4: be the perfect day, if only Bob would come up
- 25:41Speaker 4: and try and put us tongue in my mouth and
- 25:43Speaker 4: they're like yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, no, hey, that did not happen. That
- 25:48Speaker 1: did not happen. And see, I'm not doing it. And
- 25:51Speaker 1: so I walk away and.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I'm like, we're on a group date with five guys
- 25:55Speaker 4: and she wants someone to try to make out with her.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I don't think so. So I walk over and I
- 26:00Speaker 1: grab two beers and I'm not even a big beer guy.
- 26:03Speaker 4: And I come walking back and I'm like, where's Jamie
- 26:06Speaker 4: And he goes, hey, you go back there. Jamie's out
- 26:10Speaker 4: there with Trista and I'm like, I look, and he
- 26:12Speaker 4: was Jamie leaning in for a kiss.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It goes Tristan little.
- 26:18Speaker 4: He goes and he kisses around the cheek and I'm like,
- 26:21Speaker 4: my timing, My god, thank god.
- 26:24Speaker 1: They went to him and I didn't listen, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 1: but he listened.
- 26:28Speaker 5: I think it's the wisdom that you had a couple
- 26:30Speaker 5: of years older. You're like, now, I'm not came up
- 26:33Speaker 5: and asked me too. It was just like the wrong time.
- 26:37Speaker 5: But even honestly, even that, I was like, yeah, I'll
- 26:40Speaker 5: try it.
- 26:40Speaker 4: What the hell, but what I loved and this is
- 26:42Speaker 4: my favorite part. So at the end, now I'm second
- 26:44Speaker 4: guessing myself.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:45Speaker 4: So we get in the limo and we're all going
- 26:47Speaker 4: to go home and I and we're all getting ready
- 26:50Speaker 4: to to a toast, and I go, hey, before we
- 26:51Speaker 4: say anything, I go, Trista, I want you to know.
- 26:54Speaker 1: You know, here, we're on a date with five guys.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I mean, Trista, you might not even remember this, but
- 26:59Speaker 4: I remember saying this to you. And the reason why
- 27:01Speaker 4: I remember it was because my best buddy Jamie's sitting
- 27:03Speaker 4: right next to you.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I'm at the end.
- 27:05Speaker 4: He's like, in with you, and I go, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 4: if we're on a group date like this, and if
- 27:09Speaker 4: we aren't trying to be affectionate with you or anything, it's
- 27:12Speaker 4: out of respect for you.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And I look at Jamie's like, and I go, but.
- 27:17Speaker 4: If we are trying that, then maybe we have a
- 27:19Speaker 4: different connection.
- 27:20Speaker 6: I saw you, so I'm like, or.
- 27:26Speaker 4: You know, if we are trying, then maybe it's because
- 27:28Speaker 4: we have a different connection.
- 27:29Speaker 6: Then oh god, but you know, we all have so much.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Respect for you and we just don't want to you know.
- 27:34Speaker 6: And I remember you saw my face and it was
- 27:37Speaker 6: just like a ghost.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Don't throw me under the bus, and then we are Okay,
- 27:42Speaker 4: So let's go back to the other one. So now
- 27:44Speaker 4: we're on the spa date again, Jamie and I together,
- 27:47Speaker 4: you know, the two of.
- 27:48Speaker 5: Course, we're in a we're in a hot tub. I
- 27:50Speaker 5: think half our relationship spend in a hot tub.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I love that you're saying half of our relationship yours
- 27:58Speaker 3: and bops.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I was gonna say, because ninety percent of the relationship
- 28:05Speaker 1: with Trista, for you, has been in the hotel.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Yeah, right, I have.
- 28:08Speaker 5: To say I contracted ringworm in that hot tub, and
- 28:11Speaker 5: I should have told Trista, so it should like any
- 28:13Speaker 5: of the final suitors didn't.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Oh my god, whatever, this is his humor. He's kidding,
- 28:19Speaker 4: he's kidding.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Is that the Jamie we know?
- 28:21Speaker 4: This humor is like trust me, trusted, he's kidding, he's kidding. Okay,
- 28:27Speaker 4: So let's cut back to the spa date and let's
- 28:31Speaker 4: go from there. Okay, because this is where this one
- 28:34Speaker 4: actually makes makes the uh. It does not get end
- 28:37Speaker 4: up on the cutting rom floor. This one makes it
- 28:39Speaker 4: into the season.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 28:40Speaker 5: So we're having a good time, like we're in the hotel,
- 28:42Speaker 5: there's me and you. I don't know who else was
- 28:43Speaker 5: in there, and you.
- 28:44Speaker 6: All remember bout.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah Ryan was on that day too.
- 28:50Speaker 6: That's amazing. So and Ryan was the best man. He
- 28:53Speaker 6: was awesome. I actually met him. He might have been
- 28:58Speaker 6: the first person I met. And I'm kind of like,
- 29:00Speaker 6: maybe this will be okay, because I was really worried
- 29:03Speaker 6: what type of person would be there. Yeah, and I
- 29:06Speaker 6: remember sitting in the I think I was in his limbo.
- 29:08Speaker 6: I want to.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Say we were all on the same level. We were
- 29:11Speaker 4: in the same level.
- 29:12Speaker 5: So he was just so nice and normal, and I
- 29:14Speaker 5: remember he's saying he played football for the Panthers, and
- 29:17Speaker 5: he just seemed kind of like this humble, smart, nice guy.
- 29:22Speaker 5: So I'm like, wow, this is might be different than
- 29:24Speaker 5: what I thought. Anyway, So the producers come up to me.
- 29:27Speaker 5: I think we had a contest, Bob, and somebody's like,
- 29:29Speaker 5: whoever wins it has to you know, we're going to
- 29:32Speaker 5: do a massage with Tristan. Yeah, Trista, nothing against you,
- 29:37Speaker 5: but I didn't want to have a pantic attack, right,
- 29:40Speaker 5: So it could have been anybody, and all I was
- 29:42Speaker 5: hoping I was praying it wasn't wasn't going to be
- 29:45Speaker 5: me because I don't want to have a panic attack.
- 29:47Speaker 6: And then I won.
- 29:47Speaker 5: I got it. So now I'm like, oh my god, okay, massage.
- 29:51Speaker 5: What does that mean? I don't really know you yet, right,
- 29:54Speaker 5: So we're having a massage and I actually felt believe
- 29:56Speaker 5: it or not, Like I remember this. I felt okay.
- 29:59Speaker 5: And we were talking about basic stuff. Where are you from?
- 30:03Speaker 6: Uh, just simple stuff family, which is a little odd
- 30:06Speaker 6: while getting massage in your basketball shorts. Right, So I
- 30:10Speaker 6: made it, and I made it through that, and I
- 30:12Speaker 6: remember being like, all right, I did it. I got through.
- 30:14Speaker 6: I'm done. Now I can go.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Back to Bob, like come to pop up, buddy.
- 30:24Speaker 6: So I can go back to the hot top with
- 30:25Speaker 6: Bob and.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I can get ring worm.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Get ring worm.
- 30:30Speaker 5: But like you did it and then went well, so
- 30:32Speaker 5: the other ring worms that's a problem. And then now
- 30:36Speaker 5: they're like, oh, you guys are going to get a shower,
- 30:39Speaker 5: and I just remember that that's when I had a
- 30:40Speaker 5: panic attack. I'm like, that's the fear of God? Like
- 30:43Speaker 5: what does that mean?
- 30:43Speaker 1: Am I?
- 30:44Speaker 6: Like what do?
- 30:45Speaker 5: I don't even know what to do? Like I have
- 30:48Speaker 5: an Irish mother who's supremely Catholic. That's going to be watching,
- 30:52Speaker 5: and I'm like, so I go in the shower. I
- 30:55Speaker 5: trust that you were you were so nice, but I
- 30:58Speaker 5: was so afraid. I didn't know what to do. I
- 30:59Speaker 5: just started showering. I remember like washing my armpits and
- 31:02Speaker 5: like shampooing my head, Like.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Do you need any soap? What kind of soap do
- 31:07Speaker 6: you like? Do you like the shampoo first? You're like
- 31:09Speaker 6: the soap first, which like, but.
- 31:13Speaker 1: That's not what makes That's not what makes it on
- 31:15Speaker 1: the air. What makes it on is Janie's interview.
- 31:18Speaker 6: And then they slow it down, Yeah.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Like the super slow motion of me, Like she goes,
- 31:24Speaker 5: you know, maybe you could like massage my shoulders. So
- 31:28Speaker 5: I basically just took a shower. Yeah, but Trisa, that
- 31:30Speaker 5: had it, but like you had to know. I got
- 31:32Speaker 5: that this is not going to work with this guy
- 31:33Speaker 5: obviously right after that shower.
- 31:34Speaker 7: Oh stop, no, no, no, that's not true.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Tell him what you said, Jamie to get through the
- 31:39Speaker 4: dead rats things. I remember sitting there rubbing her shoulder
- 31:43Speaker 4: and she's so beautiful, and all I could think to
- 31:45Speaker 4: myself was dead rats, dead rats, dead rats, And it's
- 31:48Speaker 4: just like, what the hell.
- 31:51Speaker 6: It might be? The new Viager commercial.
- 31:53Speaker 2: You never know, so good, that's so funny.
- 32:00Speaker 5: I remember feeling so uncomfortable, like for you, like doing
- 32:04Speaker 5: was that uncomfortable? They had to be uncomfortable for you,
- 32:06Speaker 5: but you probably don't remember because you're on a bunch
- 32:08Speaker 5: of them.
- 32:08Speaker 3: You know, honestly, it's not as uncomfortable. I was just like, Okay,
- 32:12Speaker 3: this is just what we're doing. But I I'm I
- 32:15Speaker 3: wasn't dealing with a panic disorder. So like you know,
- 32:19Speaker 3: from my mental position compared to yours was definitely very
- 32:25Speaker 3: very different. And I came from a very Catholic family too,
- 32:29Speaker 3: and so that's why background story. I was like, you know,
- 32:33Speaker 3: I'm not like the kissing bandit we're talking to right now.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm not going to kiss everybody.
- 32:38Speaker 7: Oh who who whatt.
- 32:45Speaker 1: You? No? Stop?
- 32:47Speaker 3: So, so you know, I went into it thinking I
- 32:51Speaker 3: don't want to look like I'm, you know, a floozy
- 32:55Speaker 3: and a slug like they were calling me in the press.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I so much I was.
- 33:00Speaker 6: I wasn't aware of that that people were saying that.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, actually I think Chicago was one of the
- 33:05Speaker 3: places that did an article. Anyway, anyway, whatever, it's all
- 33:09Speaker 3: in the past, it's all good. But That's where my
- 33:12Speaker 3: headspace was, you know, like I wanted to make sure
- 33:15Speaker 3: that I was very thoughtful about who I was, you know,
- 33:19Speaker 3: being more like physical with yeah, and I didn't want
- 33:24Speaker 3: to be physical with everybody.
- 33:26Speaker 4: All right, Well, you know what, this is a great
- 33:27Speaker 4: time to take a quick break. We've got so much
- 33:29Speaker 4: more to talk about. So we are going to take
- 33:31Speaker 4: a quick break right now, and we'll be back with
- 33:33Speaker 4: more almost famous the Ogs our special guests Jamie blythe
