  so fundamentalism is designed to unpack, the idea of authority

  from scripture. The problem with that is that
• 1:25
  that's not the defining principle in Scripture.
• 1:28
  It is a part of the defining principle in scripture is love.

  And I'm not saying that all will be drawn to that sort of
• 2:01
  teacher. I don't want to give people just
• 2:14
  a list of things they can start doing differently until they
• 2:17
  have a heart out of which there. Going to be doing those things
• 2:20
  differently. But I think bitterness is
• 2:29
  different from her. I would say that hurt or even
• 2:33
  abuse does not have to result in bitterness, It is now.

  Story Christmas? I've never seen the original

  This is horrible here. John that newly original just

  look like torture to watch. So I've never seen it.

  I've what I've had to watch the original one since I was a child

  because I was Ralph and my younger, brother was his

  Came out and me and my wife decided, sit down, watch it.

  And I'm not gonna lie, John, I was pleasantly surprised.

  They did a really good job. They made some good key moments
• 3:55
  that pulled back into the old one, back into the new one.

  And I thought it was really good.

  I thought was really well written and produced and it was
• 4:04
  pretty good. Huh.

  I was wondering if people were going to think it's trash or
• 4:09
  happy was going to be another. It would be a where the holiday
• 4:12
  classic? Yeah.

  It was, I thought they did a really good job of making good
• 4:18
  motions to the old to the original and they kept a lot of
• 4:22
  the same actors that were grown up.
• 4:24
  Now as adults with kids and reliving that that Christmas
• 4:27
  time through their kids. You know, it's one good thing
• 4:31
  about being a parent as we get to relive those childhood
• 4:34
  memories through our children, and it's a great great thing
• 4:38
  that God has laid out for us as parents.
• 4:41
  So it's pretty cool. Yeah.
• 4:44
  John if you decorate your house for Christmas and you got your
• 4:46
  Christmas lights all hung and Christmas tree up and our oh
• 4:50
  yeah, we got the Christmas decorations out, but we didn't
• 4:52
  have anything outside. I'm not big on decorating, the
• 4:57
  outside of the house. Everybody else is.
• 4:59
  But I'm like humbug. I don't want to do it and found
• 5:04
  out that the lights that we have for outside, just didn't work.
• 5:07
  So, with the time schedule, and just not really want to go buy
• 5:11
  new lights. We didn't really do anything on
• 5:13
  the outside. Side.
• 5:14
  Yeah. Well this is our second year in
• 5:15
  our house and I have tried holding off on decorating the
• 5:18
  outside, you know, for the couple years, we lived in the
• 5:20
  parsonage, I didn't have to decorate because it's the Parson
• 5:23
  just not our house. And so then last year we moved
• 5:26
  into the new house but this year I always liked your decorating
• 5:29
  outside like by the stuff and get your tail outside and
• 5:33
  decorate. So I hung up lights, we put
• 5:35
  Garland around the everything we've got, our little
• 5:39
  Inflatables out there. We're just going to add to it
• 5:41
  every year, not try to go super huge.
• 5:43
  This First year. But so I'll we look like we're
• 5:45
  actually festive and we like Christmas at our house now so
• 5:48
  it's been nice. Not quite Clark Griswold yet but
• 5:53
  we're getting there were getting there.
• 5:55
  Yeah, one day, I Lon one day. I'll be a Clark and we'll have
• 5:59
  the best Christmas lights in town.

  Love it. Yeah.

  So John, what's the, what's the deal?

  We finished up our 2020, to this will be the last episode of
• 6:08
  2022. We had a great little.
• 6:11
  We Spotify does. They're Spotify year and year in
• 6:15
  review and we saw some great episodes.

  We recorded some good things, you know, one episode had almost
• 6:22
  900 listens which was pretty awesome with Nate Brooks and
• 6:26
  with Jenna - yeah. Yeah, and we saw some some good
• 6:34
  things there. I appreciate our listeners
• 6:36
  listening. We wouldn't do this if we didn't
• 6:38
  have listeners but you know, we're December.
• 6:41
  This will be the last episode. Before the Christmas season
• 6:45
  before the Advent happens and then we come back in 2023.

  What's are looking like, what's our view coming up in 2023 jobs?

  So when we were at the RFP, for the sake of the Gospel
• 6:56
  Conference, we talked about this have not talked about this on
• 7:00
  the podcast, but we were talking about we were thinking about
• 7:04
  doing a little bit of a Rebrand or I don't know how you would
• 7:09
  what you would say like what you would call it, but we're
• 7:12
  thinking about re We assessing readjusting just a bit and I
• 7:18
  think we've decided we're going to keep the name for Freedom
• 7:21
  podcast. Yeah we're going to we're going
• 7:23
  to adjust the focus a little bit and we are going to be dealing
• 7:28
  with life issues and you might say that we've already been sort
• 7:31
  of doing that. We have the lad.
• 7:32
  Say the last two episodes were really sort of soft
• 7:35
  introductions into that area where we talked about, I think
• 7:41
  we interviewed Jim Does Michael Krueger on his bully pulpit?
• 7:48
  We had Jim Quigley from the addiction connection and freedom
• 7:52
  for Ministries and so we're sort of getting into those times that
• 7:56
  types of things and we're hopefully looking forward in
• 7:58
  2023. We're thinking about doing a
• 8:02
  will have a new intro and we are going to sort of have a new
• 8:07
  focus and really just sort of have some get some new life in
• 8:11
  it. I think I was getting a little
• 8:12
  bit. Burnout with a lot of things and
• 8:16
  this being one of them and so James and I were able to talk
• 8:19
  about it when we went to the the conference and sort of get
• 8:24
  rejuvenated to buy it. And so looking forward, like
• 8:27
  we're going to press a little bit of a reset button on 20/20
• 8:30
  when we get to 2023. And so we'll have like you
• 8:33
  won't, you won't. We're not exactly sure.
• 8:35
  When the next episode will come out, we know it'll be in the
• 8:38
  neck and the new year. Yeah.

  We don't show them, maybe February after February some
• 8:43
  Yeah, but once it drops we're going to be we're going to be

  consistent. Yeah like every week almost so

  so that's what we're looking forward to.

  So we're still going to be the for Freedom podcast but really

  want to get into areas and interview people that can help

  with the Bible. Bringing the Bible to Everyday
• 9:07
  living in everyday life and in covering subjects like that, and
• 9:11
  everything that we've done so far.

  So we we've done 80 episodes. So Jim Quigley's episode was
• 9:17
  80th episode. We've been doing it for two
• 9:21
  years. Yeah.

  Yeah, we started June 2020. June will be two.

  Yeah, two and a half years. Yeah.

  So, two and a half years to podcast has gone. 80 episodes.

  It's had some ebb and flow with what we've been doing and James
• 9:38
  and I have matured. Yeah, as we've gone along, we
• 9:41
  are not the same two people. Whenever the podcast started in
• 9:45
  whenever James came on, we have different focuses.

  We have different different things.
• 9:51
  We're passionate about. Yeah, and John your role as you
• 9:54
  were a youth pastor. When you started this, an
• 9:56
  associate pastor, now you're a senior pastor and there's some
• 10:00
  things changing in that area of your life.
• 10:03
  We've all had. I think we've changed.
• 10:05
  You had a kid. I think you had a kid since we
• 10:07
  started it as well, didn't you? There's no no Maggie was born in
• 10:11
  February of 2020. So Maggie was a Baby, I built a
• 10:14
  house. We moved into a house.
• 10:15
  We've been doing a lot of different Ministries stuff and,
• 10:18
  you know, so there's there's things changing life and part of
• 10:21
  that changes us trying to figure out what the next role for this
• 10:25
  podcast is and and how we can complement the RFP Network.
• 10:30
  We want to be an asset to the network and part of that I think
• 10:33
  is just giving a good view of counseling.
• 10:36
  John received his certification through counseling and the AC
• 10:39
  BC, this last year, I'm still in the process of that and getting
• 10:43
  Mike Certification. So there's a lot of up and downs
• 10:46
  and changes that we went through in our lives.
• 10:48
  And so we want to, we want to be consistent in that area as well
• 10:51
  in the podcast. And with some of those changes,
• 10:55
  you know, I'll be going to Israel John in the end of
• 10:57
  January. And so one of those episodes
• 11:00
  when we come back we'll just be a recap of Israel and what
• 11:02
  happened there and the the events that we got to see.

  So so that's part of this whole process and how we can better
• 11:09
  serve you as a podcast. Yeah.

  And I am And I'm glad you brought up to think about the
• 11:15
  RFP Network because we're can, we are we're definitely staying
• 11:18
  within the RFP Network and, and we did.
• 11:21
  We had some good times and talks with the guys while they're out
• 11:23
  there and they're wanting to be more gospel focused going
• 11:28
  forward as well. And so this is actually and
• 11:31
  they're on board with what we're doing.
• 11:33
  And so this is a move that is that is actually in line with
• 11:39
  with what they're they're doing. And you think about those guys
• 11:42
  going through something. Life changes as well.
• 11:45
  You know JC starting a church in Chattanooga.
• 11:49
  Nathan starting a church in Asheville.
• 11:51
  Yeah and so there's there's a lot going on life does not
• 11:55
  slowing down and we recognize that this is something that has
• 12:01
  been beneficial to others and as an opportunity to bring biblical
• 12:08
  truth to to those and they can take it and then if we can
• 12:13
  recommend and a resource or if we can point you to a scripture
• 12:16
  that can be helpful and and help in your daily life and
• 12:24
  sanctification that we want to, we want to be able to do that.
• 12:27
  And so that's that's probably one of our main goals and that
• 12:31
  kind of thing. So, you know, we look back at
• 12:35
  the, I don't know, I have it, I've never really done seasons.
• 12:39
  Yeah, you know some some shows do like season 1 season 2 but
• 12:43
  I've been going through and looking at it at, you know, each
• 12:48
  time we take a break and we come back that's like, a new season
• 12:52
  of the podcast. And I think, in this last
• 12:54
  season, we have talked about biblical counseling.

  We've talked about being addicted to social media being
• 13:05
  addicted to your phone, we finished our galatian series, We
• 13:10
  interviewed some other RFP podcasts that are in the RFP
• 13:14
  Network. We talked about Hope and help in
• 13:17
  the marriage with Sean Peron interview Chomper.
• 13:20
  Own, we interviewed Michael Krueger on his new book, bully
• 13:24
  pulpit, and we've interviewed Jim Quigley about addictions and
• 13:29
  freedom for Ministries. And so those are just a little
• 13:32
  bit of a taste of where we're going to be going in the future.

  Yeah, and if you have an interesting topic that you're

  struggling with, you need help with you'd like for us to

  know, Life is tough. We know life is hard.

  We've talked to several people at our meetups, with family
• 14:13
  Dynamics and how to deal. John, that was probably the two
• 14:16
  or three things questions were brought up.

  How do I deal with family members who are still struggling
• 14:22
  with us with a form of legalism? How do I deal with that?
• 14:25
  And so we want to help, we want to give those those biblical
• 14:28
  help in those a lot of areas. And so if you have a specific
• 14:32
  issue, you want us to talk about let us know and we'd love to
• 14:35
  address it in the future. Yep.

  Hey, my birthday is today of the recording when this comes out,

  and my wife gave me an early Christmas gift yesterday, I am a

  John. When John looked at me, weird,

  just now, she gave me a package came in, and she said, will you

  please open this a day or two days early?

  And I, I'm a firm believer. John birthdays are meant to be
• 15:05
  celebrated on your birthday. Not the day.

  Before, not the day, after not the week, after you, celebrate

  your birthday on your birthday and you move on.

  And so I said Noah. So my birthday is coming up in
• 15:14
  two days, I'll wait two days and she's just beg me, beg me, beg
• 15:18
  me. So finally, all the kids, they
• 15:19
  knew what it was. And so they begged me to open,
• 15:21
  its open to present early and most of, you know, some of you
• 15:25
  may know, I'm a huge, Miami Dolphins, fan.
• 15:27
  And so, she bought me an orange and till Miami Dolphin backpack,
• 15:32
  to replace the backpack that I've got.
• 15:34
  And so I'm pretty excited about that.
• 15:36
  Pretty stoked thankful that she got That.
• 15:38
  So Israel is going to get a taste of the Miami Dolphins
• 15:42
  that's going to be my traveling bag and then I think she's got
• 15:45
  some other things planned for tomorrow for us.
• 15:47
  And I think we may be going out as a family or something, but
• 15:50
  it's gonna be a great time and just excited about, you know,
• 15:53
  another year, another year, older, 34 years old and seeing
• 15:56
  what Lords got for us in the year of Our Lord 2023.

  So I'm excited about the new year as well.

  It's been a time for family. Yeah and being excited about

  getting stuff for the kids and I kind of think.

  I have excited about the holiday coming up and just finishing up

  some things at the church and gearing up for the new year and

  some new things we've got planned for the firm industry

  this year. So well we're going to we're
