- 0:11Hello, friends, it's Sean. Here it is Tuesday.
- 0:14It is the 10th of September 2024.
- 0:18Good to have your company. Hope you're going well.
- 0:21It is well, not the beginning of the week, not quite the middle
- 0:24of the week. We're just kind of finding the
- 0:26rhythm of our weeks as we work our way through.
- 0:29And isn't this music lovely? This this music is not from Blue
- 0:33Dot Sessions. This music is by an artist by
- 0:35the name of Alexi. And I can't find any more
- 0:38information other than the name Alexi.
- 0:40But he and many or she, I don't know.
- 0:43I'm just assuming he makes this music available for people, well
- 0:48like you and I, who are not making money from podcasts but
- 0:50are just podcasting to, to share some information and join people
- 0:54together in community. So that is fantastic.
- 0:57Thank you Alexi and all of those other generous musicians who
- 1:00share their music for us to enjoy.
- 1:03And Speaking of enjoying things, I hope you have been enjoying
- 1:06these Corinthian letters as much as I have.
- 1:08There is some fantastic, fantastic theology that Paul
- 1:12shares. Just so powerful.
- 1:14If you ever wondered what an amazing deal we have in Jesus,
- 1:18well look no further. These books are just chock a
- 1:21block full of the incredible story of the good news that we
- 1:24have folks. And today is no different.
- 1:27We continue to hear even though we may be living through
- 1:31hardships, God continues to be able to use us in the way that
- 1:36we live with each other. So all that being said and done,
- 1:40let us settle ourselves in still our hearts as we hear God
- 1:48speaking to us through His Word in Second Corinthians chapter 6.
- 2:02As God's partners, we beg you not to accept this marvellous
- 2:06gift of God's kindness and then ignore it.
- 2:09For God says at just the right time, I heard you on the day of
- 2:15salvation. I helped you.
- 2:18Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation.
- 2:23We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us
- 2:27and no one will find fault with our ministry.
- 2:30In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of
- 2:34God. We patiently endure troubles and
- 2:37hardships and calamities of every kind.
- 2:41We have been beaten, put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked
- 2:46to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.
- 2:51We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our
- 2:55patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by
- 3:00our sincere love. We faithfully preach the truth.
- 3:06God's power is working in US. We use the weapons of
- 3:10righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for
- 3:13defence. We serve God whether people
- 3:17honour us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us.
- 3:23We are honest but they call us imposters.
- 3:27We are ignored even though we are well known.
- 3:31We live close to death, but we are still alive.
- 3:36We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.
- 3:40Our hearts ache, but we always have joy.
- 3:45We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others.
- 3:50We own nothing, yet we have everything.
- 3:55Oh dear Corinthian friends, we have spoken honestly with you
- 4:00and our hearts are open to you. There is no lack of love on our
- 4:04part, but you have withheld your love from us.
- 4:08I'm asking you to respond as if you were my own children.
- 4:13Open your hearts to us. Don't team up with those who are
- 4:18unbelievers. How can righteousness be a
- 4:21partner with wickedness? How can light live with
- 4:24darkness? What harmony can there be
- 4:27between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner
- 4:31with an unbeliever? And what union can there be
- 4:35between God's temple and idols? For we are the temple of the
- 4:40living God. As God said, I will live in them
- 4:45and walk among them. I will be their God and they
- 4:50will be my people. Therefore, come out from among
- 4:53unbelievers and separate yourselves from them, says the
- 4:58Lord. Don't touch their filthy things,
- 5:01and I will welcome you, and I will be your father, and you
- 5:06will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
- 5:21Our Lord, you call us to live in this world surrounded,
- 5:25surrounded by people and things that don't know you.
- 5:29And yet here we hear you remind us that if we are going to be
- 5:34able to continue this Christian life, we need the encouragement
- 5:38of others who know and love you. So Lord, place people in our
- 5:43lives and in our paths who can build us up and encourage us and
- 5:48spur us on in our faith. So that as we go out and spend
- 5:53our days surrounded by people who don't know you, that we can
- 5:57truly be all these things that Paul spoke of, that we can be
- 6:03honest, that we can be faithful, that we can be kind, and that we
- 6:09can love. Holy Spirit continue to
- 6:14transform us through your fruit. We can truly be different.
- 6:21That would drive people to wonder what it is about us.
- 6:24It's so different. And that we can then point to
- 6:27you now. We love you and we thank you for
- 6:31doing this ongoing work in US. And we pray all of this in the
- 6:36saving name of Jesus, Amen.
