Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Tracey Chapman Made Pike Cry
Transcript
- 0:00I know this is becoming a bit of a trend. On the program here
- 0:02Amanda, where Pike shares a story about how he cried during something that probably,
- 0:07you know, your typical man wouldn't cry. Hey, you know what,
- 0:10I'm really liking that you're embracing your emotions in twenty twenty four. I'm
- 0:13not afraid to say it when I say I'm crying at these things, like
- 0:17whether it be a football game or a concert or in this case, watching
- 0:20the Grammys last night. What it's not me sobbing? It's not boo.
- 0:25My wife's holding me. You know what I mean? I mean that would
- 0:28be precious if you had to like nuzzle into your wife and she's like,
- 0:31it's okay, Pike, Well okay. I mean the last one we talked
- 0:34about was me crying during that tsunami movie. I mean that was borderline a
- 0:38sob okay. But this one though last night, and I was very excited
- 0:42rarely, like we just talked about a bit ago. Do we get hyped
- 0:44up for these award shows anymore? Because there's just so many and they're just
- 0:47bad. Yeah, they're all terrible. But Friday, when we got to
- 0:52where that Tracy Chapman would be joining Luke Comb's for a fast car. I
- 0:55was like, Okay, now you've got daddy's attention. So I did not
- 0:58know that my husband did because my husband, much like Luke Combs, grew
- 1:03up just jamming. Like when we first got together. Yeah, Nick would
- 1:07turn this on on the pontoon and like sing this song as loud as a
- 1:11can, like if there's a KARAOKEI or something like that, Like he is
- 1:14going to town on this. It's fair five minutes of it. Yeah.
- 1:17So when Luke Combs revived it, I guess that it depends on how you
- 1:22feel about it. Some people are like he destroyed it because Tracy Chapman is
- 1:26still alive and can rock it. Well, he didn't destroy I mean he
- 1:27did it almost to a te how the original is. It's not like he
- 1:30made this new version of it. But he was so jacked. Yeah.
- 1:34So Jayeh, it's super cool to hear it. But you know, for
- 1:36a lot of people that song in the nineties, I know, it was
- 1:38weird to hear that it was released in eighty eight, you know, making
- 1:42it in it it feels like a nineties song, But obviously it was still
- 1:45very popular. Throughout the nineties, So I remember it were you as a
- 1:48child, like in my mom's car listening to Big ninety eight point seven growing
- 1:52up, and that's off, that's that's a little off. We uh,
- 1:55we'ren't established then, Pike, And you know, even like in college,
- 1:59that like was for some reason a party song, probably like your husband,
- 2:01Like just I remember the early twenties downtown after a night at the ob going
- 2:07back to the apartment and just everyone's screaming along the fast was long time as
- 2:12weird as that is, but that song would come on and you it was
- 2:14an acoustic jam sash with people absolutely, so I mean, if you didn't
- 2:17hear it, it was pretty awesome. Tracy Chapman came out and kind of
- 2:20started the song, and she did most of the singing. They came together
- 2:23in the chorus and just sounded great together. And we're laying there, man,
- 2:35and I don't know, you know, it's just the nostalgia hitting me,
- 2:37or just the fact that Tracy Chapman gave us this like incredible gift all
- 2:40the way back then and we really haven't seen or heard from her since,
- 2:44and for her to get that moment in front of the world. I just
- 2:46started just start streaming them. Did you Chris the old wet cheeks? Really?
- 2:52I did the oh my gosh wet cheeks in college. That's besides the
- 2:55point. Why are we calling you Pike when we could be calling you cheeks
- 3:00in the morning cheeks. Uh. We did not cry, I will tell
- 3:04you that, but there there was a lot of oh my gosh, this
- 3:07is fantastic. You guys have souls. We have I feel like we do.
- 3:10Oh yeah, I don't know, I know. It was just it
- 3:13was very cool. So I didn't cry at any other parts. Although Taylor
- 3:15Swipt announcing a new album was emotional, the amount of people that are grown
- 3:21women and adults that were saying that they died they couldn't believe it. They're
- 3:24shook. They might not have even went to work today because they were so
- 3:29shocked by this news is hilarious to me. And trust me, we've talked
- 3:32about this time and time again, ad nauseum. I love I love Taylor.
- 3:38She's great. Nothing against her, but honestly, I'm annoy like,
- 3:40I'm like, I okay, like great. Whatever her views was, it
- 3:45just HiT's so over the top. And then she goes and does this.
- 3:49My mind was truly blown. Well I love it. Oh yeah, you
- 3:52want to hear what she said? Yeah, here's what she said. I
- 3:53want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I've
- 4:00been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand
- 4:08new album comes out April nineteenth. Is not the what it's called the Torture
- 4:15Poets Department. I'm gonna go and post the it was. It's just crazy
- 4:21because you released what Midnight's the one that she was up there accepting the ard
- 4:25for. Was that a year ago? And then before the during COVID she
- 4:28had those two albums in the same year, So it'd be one thing I
- 4:30had been like, you know, she'd been on this hiatus, but it
- 4:33quite the opposite. And you know what, I will be honest, I
- 4:35got a little annoyed of Taylor, which is weird because I do love her.
- 4:39I don't get annoyed of all this, like you know, the Dad's
- 4:41Brads and Chadster growing up. Do I actively listen to her albums anymore?
- 4:46No, I kinda stopped doing that a long time ago. You know,
- 4:48I'm not gonna listen to every track or whatever. But when she was up
- 4:51there singing during the fastcar performance. She was the only one standing. Oh
- 4:56she was not. They just panned to her and made it look like she
- 4:59was the only one. Do you feeling part of me? And I know
- 5:01this is wrong. I'm sure she genuinely was just being supported, but it
- 5:04was a real like do you need to always have it be the look at
- 5:09me? Because she knows she's on camera. My husband said the same thing.
- 5:13Just sit down? He seriously, he actually said out loud, and
- 5:15I'm not kidding. He goes, why is she doing that? Just sit?
- 5:19Not to mention what about the person behind you? Yeah, that's not
- 5:23a short person. And as a short guy, it's just like, come
- 5:26on now, we're all street. It wouldn't be great because I think she
- 5:28was in here. If somebody was like, hey, daday down in front
- 5:31place, I would love a photo just the back of the tailor that great
- 5:34view for the Tracy Chairman performance like a minute in the morning, Big Natty
- 5:38eight point seven. What do you think the sexiest accent is other than whatever
- 5:42mine is? The American English Midwest Midwest Ufeda bike. You're looking good today?
- 5:47Oh gosh, you'll look good. I don't even know what my own
- 5:50accent. Oh for cute. But there was a survey done to find the
- 5:53sexiest accents globally. Okay, so I have to say for a man Australian
- 5:59accent, that's do you say that, Amanda? Because that would be the
- 6:00number three sexiest accent for a man. Really, according to this new study,
- 6:04there were six thousand people. And just for reference, I was able
- 6:08to get an Australian guy to recite a phrase for us Keith Urban. I'm
- 6:12not going to reveal his identity. Paul from Awesome Asus. His name's Nigel
- 6:16Old call it buddy of mine anyway, So I had him read just around.
- 6:19I said, hey, just come up with a random phrase about Amanda
- 6:21and then I'll have it over the air. Am I going to be able
- 6:24to handle it? Well? I will see. That's what I want to
- 6:26find out. Okay. So here's this guy, Nigel, Australian dude.
- 6:29Well, hello, Amanda, you have an absolutely breathtaking rear end. I'd
- 6:32like to give you a kiss, if that's all right with you. Oh,
- 6:34come on, Nigel, What the heck? Nigel didn't give me enough
- 6:38Australian. That's so creepy that was. I'm not crying of that guy anymore.
- 6:42But also Pike, that wasn't Australian enough. He didn't really hang on
- 6:45to that. Amanda, Okay, that was a little Spanish. See you're
- 6:49not the I am terrible with accents, but for ladies, I think a
- 6:54Spanish accent is super attractive, like that Sophia Vergara kind of vibe. Mm
- 6:58hmm yeah. More of a Middle Eastern guy? What's that? Well?
- 7:02What is Middle Give me the ac Sorry, I can't help you. Well,
- 7:05I'm not going to do the accent. So you got the globe right,
- 7:10you can earth very well aware of like where the Middle East is and
- 7:14all of that. But when it comes to accents, I'm trying to figure
- 7:15out, like decipher which one is what that would say? Well, number
- 7:19two, believe it or not, was German? A German accent? Well
- 7:21that feels a little harsh. Did I tell you that I went to college
- 7:25with a German guy? Really? Yeah? Yeah, his name Spen And
- 7:28actually this I got him to record the same piece of audio. I just
- 7:30said, hey, like, come up with a phrase just so we have
- 7:32it. Come to me, Spen, let's see what you had to say.
- 7:34Well, Hello, Amanda. You have an absolutely breathtaking Rea d I'd
- 7:40like to give you a kiss, if that's all right with you. Was
- 7:44that German enough for you? Also? Very creepy, very creepy, But
- 7:46no, Ben did it for me over Nigel. I usually like the Australian
- 7:50accent, but Spen, I was thinking German was more. Is it Dutch?
- 7:55That's like more harsh, like like you're just angry when you're talking,
- 7:58you're like growling. I don't know, like the German thing. And I
- 8:01don't know if this is fair, but I've just only mostly seen movies with
- 8:03German guys and they're almost always Nazi soldiers, so you know, I sort
- 8:09of associated with that. Okay, so that's still not number one. No
- 8:11number one. To take a whack of all the countries in the world excluding
- 8:15the Middle East, which we've made a clear derea, you gotta be the
- 8:18Canadian accent, Northern Canadian. No, actually no, it was Italian.
- 8:24Oh Sasi's accent you want to hear. Actually went to not college, but
- 8:26I worked with the guy out of college who's Italian. Oh yeah, what's
- 8:30his name? I forget his name. We weren't that close, but I
- 8:33was able to get hold of him to record some audio just so we had
- 8:37for the show anyway. So there's my friend. I still don't know his
- 8:39name, but Italian accent nonetheless, Well in lu Amanda, you have an
- 8:43absolutely breathtaking and elate to give you a kiss, if that's all right we
- 8:48do. These guys are all very forward, you know. Are glad I
- 8:54don't associate with him anymore? So are you on board of the Italian accent?
- 8:56What's the worst? What's what's the lea sect? See accent? See?
- 9:00I've always thought the Midwest accent. When I went to college in Colorado,
- 9:03people would make so much fun of me about because you don't realize what
- 9:07we say until you're put in a different situation. Did you when you were
- 9:11in Florida for a hot minute? Yeah, people that were making fun of
- 9:13you. It's absolutely roasted me when I would say it beg Yeah, that
- 9:16was the worst one. People just on the floor laughing, and I just
- 9:18literally don't know what they're they're laughing about because it's so normal to us.
- 9:22It's easy on our ears here, but when you go to a different place,
- 9:26that stands out mind blowing. I was a fairy self conscious, so
- 9:28I would try to adjust how I talk, which don't change who you are
- 9:31kids, absolutely not for nobody, no matter what. But then when I
- 9:33came back here, it was like really refreshing because I could just really let
- 9:37it loose. I'd be like, oh, don't you know the hot dishes
- 9:41piping hot all for just embrace it and you can really just be you.
- 9:46And that's what I wanted to have the lesson be here for this conversation,
- 9:48just be you. I don't know, I'm just kind of disappointed in Nigel.
- 9:52I love it too because I love an Australian accent. I don't remember
- 9:56it being so creepy, but taken a minute in the morning, seven,
- 10:03is it weird? You know the deal? Ladies? First, the San
- 10:07Francisco forty nine ers are going to the Super Bowl? Okay, correct know
- 10:09this? Got it? Hate it and don't even want to talk about it
- 10:13out of nowhere. I don't even know how I got brought up and I
- 10:15was like the forty nine ers that didn't understand that there was a miners or
- 10:20yeah, I didn't know anything about the forty nine ers. Well, I
- 10:24gat no worry to me that at no point in your life because they've been
- 10:26a team since you beginning of your life. I mean absolutely, at no
- 10:30point you would because you know, there's a lot of NFL teams that are
- 10:31like the Falcons and the Eagles. It's like, okay, what those are
- 10:35birds? I know what a lion is. I even know what a Viking
- 10:39packers Packers, that's another one that you probably don't know what that is.
- 10:41But let's go back to take nine Packing company. Literally, yeah, that's
- 10:46how I started. I was a meat packing company. Was basically a club
- 10:48team. No that turned into an NFL team. Yeah, I had no
- 10:50idea would sit out. I'll tell you the whole Packers history with the interest.
- 10:54You're so interestingly good. I got parents right now. Somehow we'd bring
- 10:58the up in this. That was really my whole point. But yeah,
- 11:01the forty nine ers had no idea. So yeah, you never you never
- 11:05thought about the fact that it's a number, not a clue. I mean
- 11:07that's all I know about it. But I'm gonna go weird, weird that
- 11:11you just well, you know me, I'm curious like a cat. Yeah,
- 11:13so you got to start asking these questions. Of course, Like it
- 11:16took me this long in my life after I'm a football fan. Yeah,
- 11:20that I questioned it. Now that they're in the super Bowl talking about I'm
- 11:22like, oh the forty nine ers, Like, gee, golly, g
- 11:26what do you think that's about? Is it weird that I don't find shows
- 11:31interesting unless there's like murders or you know, because so, for example,
- 11:35we're watching the show on Hulu called The Bear, which is Jeremy Allen White
- 11:41from Shameless. Yes, it's just like critically acclaimed show. I think it
- 11:45does a ninety nine percent on Ron Tomatoes. I watched five minutes of it
- 11:48and I couldn't get into it. Let me guess from the five minutes you
- 11:50got about as much out of it as I did watching the whole first season,
- 11:54which is they own a restaurant and that's it. Okay, so where
- 12:00does it go? Literally now it's getting a little more interesting, like at
- 12:03the end of season two. And thank god you can binge it, because
- 12:05if I had to draw this out over two years of my life, I
- 12:09would be very frustrated. And I know it's like all the Oscar winning movies,
- 12:13all of them I just find so uninteresting. You know. Is it
- 12:15weird or am I just a big dumb dumb no. See, you and
- 12:18I are the same on this. I don't think that's weird at all,
- 12:20Like you need to get my attention because I have a short attention span.
- 12:24Succession, everybody said it's so great. We kept watching and watching and watching,
- 12:28and you're just waiting for somebody to die. I think we made it
- 12:31to season three and I'm going do like Ozark, that was one, it
- 12:37got you instantly, a million little things, Like there's a few of them
- 12:39that like get you right away. Yeah, there's it's just just so many
- 12:43shows out there, so really, I don't like, if you're not gonna
- 12:45get me right away, then I'm gonna move on to the next thing.
- 12:46And I get that there's great acting and it's you know, it's probably a
- 12:50lot deeper of a meaning than I you know, as I'm sitting there on
- 12:52my phone not even watching, like I'm probably missing some things, but I'm
- 12:56sorry. Like it's like when we used to watch The Handmaid's Tale. You
- 13:00ever watch that show? I didn't. Isn't that really kind of creepy?
- 13:01Yeah, it's creepy. It's good, But I would always just tell my
- 13:05wife Laura, because I go to the get up and go to the bathroom.
- 13:07When she beg you want me to posit, I'm like, eh,
- 13:07positive if somebody's getting hung. Oh my gosh. So you really do like
- 13:13the gore of it all. I'm not saying I love it. I don't
- 13:16love a good hanging by any means, but you kind of threw it out
- 13:18there. That's what you're here for. I can miss the other stuff,
- 13:22but the hanging. I'd like to be here for Amanda in the morning on
- 13:26stage seven. I know Amanda Stills the sea looks see brought to buy Valley
- 13:33Service Mechanical. I'll admit I'm not an award show person. I wanted to
- 13:37tune in for the Grammys. I actually had no idea that Tracy Chapman and
- 13:41Luke Colmbs we're gonna be I miss that that she was going to be on
- 13:45stage with her. Well, you weren't here Friday. James is feeling it
- 13:46and we trust me, we had a cover, we had a lockdown,
- 13:50we had all that information. In fact, we might have broke the news
- 13:52probably And I was super excited when I heard them on stage last night.
- 13:56You just got the goosies. I wasn't quite like you, Pike, I
- 13:58know that it was was emotional, like a real tear jerker for you.
- 14:03The wet cheeks. Yeah, anyway, they sounded great in the internet going
- 14:15wild like I felt like, Okay, that's the highlight for the Grammys,
- 14:18you know what I mean. We knew Taylor Swift was gonna win a Grammy,
- 14:20but we're like, okay. Well, before the Grammys started, there
- 14:24was a lot of swifties that with what Taylor Swift was wearing. She was
- 14:26wearing all white with these black gloves. And then did you see her necklace?
- 14:31She had a necklace that had a clock on It was like a watch
- 14:33necklace and it was clicked to midnight. So people thought reputation Taylor's version,
- 14:39She's gonna announce it, it's happening tonight. That was their whole thing.
- 14:43I didn't really get with the midnight situation, but that was their vision.
- 14:46What could it have meant midnight tonight where Robin Duncan's choy chest a home alone
- 14:52two reference. Gosh, couldn't that be what it meant? Pike? That
- 14:56didn't cross my mind at all last night, But neither did this when she
- 15:00got on stage winning her thirteenth Grammy and dropped this bomb Midnight Tonight. We're
- 15:05robbing. No, I'm just kidding. Here's the audio. I want to
- 15:07say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I've been keeping
- 15:13from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album
- 15:22what comes out April nineteenth. It's called It's called The Torture Poets Department.
- 15:31I'm gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I
- 15:35love you, thank you. I mean, come on a brand new album
- 15:39in the middle of a tour, after you just broke every record in the
- 15:43history book. I couldn't believe it was she just released Well, Midnight's the
- 15:46one she won the award for. It was the last year Ryan and then
- 15:50you know the tutor in COVID and Lover was right before that. So really,
- 15:54the people are you kind of like less is more, you know,
- 15:56that's just it. The people who are so overheard, the Dad's, Brad's,
- 16:00Chad's even just people who are like, okay, after after the super
- 16:06Bowl, this is all gonna die. When she goes over to different countries
- 16:08and her in drav are just doing their thing. It's gonna go down the
- 16:12fact she has a whole new album coming out. Wild to me. She
- 16:15mus really like touring and stuff. I guess that's exhausting. Well. She
- 16:19also made history last night, winning her fourth I guess Album of the Year.
- 16:25I mean that's never happened before. Four of those. That's pretty impressive.
- 16:29But when you put out, you know, two a year for twenty
- 16:30years, pretty good chances are getting up there. Oh that's funny you say
- 16:36that. One highlight for me too. I try really hard, Miley cyrus.
- 16:41There were people hating on her on the red carpet with her gold outfit.
- 16:44Very j Lo asked, I loved it. She was giving me Tina
- 16:47Turner vibes. She won her first Grammy last night. By the way,
- 16:49left out her dad, Billy Ray. He must have an achy breaky heart.
- 16:53This morning, Pike didn't even say anything, just talked about her mom.
- 16:57Oh he obviously played no role in her sixth as a musician. Absolutely
- 17:00not. Her mom there supporting her. But then she had a great performance.
- 17:04Listen the name and the same why I'm Gone. You don't know this
- 17:12song? I don't like that. Yeah, it acts like you don't know
- 17:17this song because people were just kind of like not really into it, and
- 17:19then they started jamming because she, I mean she was into it. When
- 17:22I say Tina Turner, I mean her dance moves, her little booty shake.
- 17:26I mean I I was all in, yeah, I mean, listen,
- 17:30it's not breaking, it is. Miley's a great performer. I didn't
- 17:33like that, but then she said this. I didn't want to leave you,
- 17:36but had to. I didn't want to five, but we did started
- 17:38to crime. And remember I mean, she does the mic drop, she
- 17:45kicks it off stage, she walks out there. I thought it was fantastic.
- 17:49A low light for me. Last night out of everything was jay Z
- 17:52winning an award. It was like an Icon award. He brought his daughter
- 17:56Blue Ivy up, who I still thought was four years old. No,
- 18:00it turns out she's twenty five now or something. Just all adult, just
- 18:03a mini Beyonce. She's out on stage with him, who she, by
- 18:07the way, has also run won a Grammy. Beyonce has won numerous Grammys
- 18:11jay Z as well. But jay Z decided he wanted to pull a Kanye
- 18:15and was throwing shade at Taylor Swift and dissing the fact that you're throwing shade
- 18:18at the Grammys. He wasn't. It wasn't Taylor Swift targeted. I know
- 18:22Swift well, think it's hard to not take it that way. Listen,
- 18:26I don't want to embarrass this young lady. But she has more Grammys than
- 18:27everyone and never one album of a year. So even by your own metrics,
- 18:32that doesn't work. Think about that, the most Grammys, never one
- 18:37album of the year. That doesn't work. I hit me with the metrics
- 18:40of that. There are no metrics. There's not a rule that means if
- 18:42you win Grammys then you have to win Album of the Year. You could
- 18:47win Record of the Year and you know, best audio editing, whatever you
- 18:52know. It doesn't mean she just needs to have a better album. The
- 18:56look on Beyonce's face that hasn't gone viral yet. I guess there was a
- 19:00lot with Taylor Swift breaking the Internet and Miley Cyrus, but the look on
- 19:06Beyonce's face, like, Jay, I'm gonna need you to stop it,
- 19:10and I'm gonna need you to sit down because this is more defied like a
- 19:15man in the morning on Big Nuddy points. Don't you feel like this maybe
- 19:19is an unpopular opinion that when it comes to weddings, the bride and I
- 19:23get it's your day, trust me. Of course, you know, sometimes
- 19:26people it just gets so over the top where they were like, you know,
- 19:30you're imagine, imagine like a queen on a throne with a bunch of
- 19:33peasants around, fanning them and feeding them grapes. Really need to be a
- 19:37little like depending on the bride all hundred percent right. Well, this bride,
- 19:42you know, she was a bridezilla. She's kind of what we're describing.
- 19:45She's going viral because well her name is Dana, or at least her
- 19:48fake internet name, because she was being a bit of a bridezilla. The
- 19:51bride'smaids were kind of annoyed of it, but you know, again it's her
- 19:53day, so she has every right to be horrible. Well until the point
- 19:56it was about time for the ceremony, Amanda, when they couldn't find Dana
- 20:02the bride. Okay, the groom couldn't find her either. He said,
- 20:04hey, it's about go time here, you know, about to walk down
- 20:07that aisle. So he opens the room where the bride is getting ready,
- 20:11supposed to be getting ready. Well, she was having a quickie with his
- 20:15uncle, a man shut his own uncle. It sounds like a real fun
- 20:22cale. Oh man, come on, now, can you imagine? Okay,
- 20:26I need details. First of all, is this an uncle that like?
- 20:30Is this a one time thing? Do we have a backstory? What
- 20:33do you think you think? I don't know if like Uncle Rico popped up
- 20:37like, hey, I haven't been here in a while, and then he
- 20:40shows up and they hit it off at the groom's dinner the night before.
- 20:42I assume you gotta think anyway that this would be the not maybe the first
- 20:47or second, but more like the tenth through one hundredth time. Fifty five
- 20:52year old uncle calls out the wedding. Now here's where the bride's maid.
- 20:56They're really upset with this bride. First of all, that's got to be
- 20:57just annoying for everybody. But they canceled the wedding, And now the bride
- 21:02has reached out to the bridesmaids and wants them to chip in because they're getting
- 21:06charged five thousand dollars for canceling the wedding, which mean doesn't make any sense
- 21:11because they are basically happen you already paid for the venue, like they're gonna
- 21:14just hey, just to make things worse for you because I know your life
- 21:17is sort of ruined and you just, you know, disgraced this guy.
- 21:19And well they have probably a twenty four hour cancelation policy, and mama didn't
- 21:23wait twenty four hours. She was waiting for like two minutes. And don't
- 21:26cancel, just do something else. Oh gosh, I feel so bad for
- 21:32this guy. Well he dodged the I mean listen, yes, of course,
- 21:36but it still sucks. It's like the worst you know what we haven't
- 21:38thought of? What haven't we thought of? Don't know which side of the
- 21:41family, but that's the uncle. Can you imagine the mom or dad of
- 21:45the groom, Like can you imagine like that is your brother or you know
- 21:49what I mean? Yeah, I think he probably's go ahead and cut that
- 21:52guy out. I think uncle probably isn't coming to Christmas this year. Or
- 21:56what if they end up and then this girl doesn't leave the situation because she's
- 22:00loving uncle. Oh my, got it? You think they stay together?
- 22:02Then you do know? I mean, if you're willing to risk it the
- 22:07day minutes before your wedding? What an uncle? Now here's what you need
- 22:12to know. That's all right? Somehow would all right. Several weeks ago,
- 22:19three Kansas City Chiefs fans were found dead in their friend's backyard. Early
- 22:23toxicology reports were released over the weekend saying that the men had cocaine and fetanyl
- 22:29in their systems. That was kind of a speculation for a lot of people,
- 22:32thinking that there of course had to have been fetanyl something that truly had
- 22:34taken them out so quick. But again it's the circumstances of how they all
- 22:38ended up outside, how the person who lived in the home was kind of
- 22:42out for three or two days, wasn't interacting with people. Then there was
- 22:47the one friend who had left and said, hey, we weren't doing anything.
- 22:51But then the other guy who had survived checked into rehab. So there's
- 22:53been a lot of talk about it, but now we kind of know.
- 22:56Yes, it's interesting to me. Did the guy who survived did he not
- 23:00take the drugs? I mean, you would think not if he survived,
- 23:03if it was that bad of a badge. You know, Hey, still
- 23:07a lot of questions, But as they say, Amanda, I have more
- 23:10questions than they have answers. Yeah, no, kidding, just so sad
- 23:12all around. And I don't know if you felt this way. But yesterday
- 23:17all the headlines were Patrick Mahomes arrested in Texas. They had the senior real
- 23:22small, nice clickbait. But Patrick Mahomes' dad, eight days before the Super
- 23:26Bowl, he ended up getting driving well intoxicated charge against him. He's fifty
- 23:30four years old. Now. There's some report saying this is his sixth DUI.
- 23:36Some are saying it was only his third. But he's facing his third
- 23:37degree felony charge or driving well intoxicated three or more times, so I think
- 23:42it has been about six times either way. His band was said at ten
- 23:45thousand dollars if convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison.
- 23:49Well, I don't know if he's going to get ten years, but at
- 23:52the very least, why don't we just go ahead and take that guy's keys?
- 23:53Absolutely, yes, he had previously, I guess, pleaded guilty for
- 23:57a DUI charge in Texas in twenty eighteen. He served a forty day jail
- 24:00sentence, but he did it on the weekends. You get to pick when
- 24:04you're doing your jail time. I don't know, maybe this sounds like it.
- 24:08I guess. I've never been arrested, but I don't know it feels.
- 24:12It feels ridiculous, but when you if anything, it sounds worse.
- 24:18I'd rather get say through Friday, and at least get out for the weekend.
- 24:21Well, you're gonna want to paycheck. You're not gonna survive, yea,
- 24:23they provide the food. Oh gosh, all right, this made me
- 24:26feel old. Yesterday Mark Zuckerberg, he'd put up a throwback pick it's old?
- 24:30Are you? How old? Am I? Thirty eight? But this
- 24:33wild show you though. I was on Facebook when it first opened up,
- 24:37and you had to be in college. Oh really, remember you had to
- 24:40have a college email in order to be on Facebook. Well, he jumped
- 24:44on Instagram and he put twenty years ago I launched the Facebook twenty picture of
- 24:51him by the way, just looking like Napoleon Dynamite, chilling behind a computer.
- 24:55So great. Did you ever watch a movie The Social Network? That's
- 24:57a good film, totally good flick. Twenty years of Facebook. Who'd have
- 25:02thought people would have thought it was gonna die? Probably ten years ago for
- 25:06sure, And the fact that I mean truly, it's still kind of thriving.
- 25:08I thought post COVID and some of the censorship and some of the things
- 25:11that people were like, I'm gonna get off of here, or they have
- 25:15all my information and my content. If you post this, they're not gonna
- 25:19get your information any of that. Like you'd think it'd be dead by now.
- 25:23I feel like they've changed it a lot of times. They haven't changed
- 25:26it really in a long time. But remember back in the day, they
- 25:27would like change the layout and people would just lose lose their mind, Oh
- 25:32my god. And then guess what, you'd get used to it and it
- 25:33would be fine, like anything. Did you know that you can download your
- 25:37content off of your Facebook? Yeah? I think so. Yeah, Yeah,
- 25:41I did that like a year ago. It's one of those things you
- 25:42should probably do because you had brought it up last week. Basically, this
- 25:45is my children's baby. But yeah, what if you lost everything? Right?
- 25:48I had a girlfriend the other day her Instagram got hacked all of our
- 25:52pictures, taking down everything, and she cannot get it back. So can
- 25:56you? I mean, you just don't think about it, like, oh
- 26:00no, this is fine, It's gonna be just fine. I have like
- 26:03two baby pictures, so I mean your kids will be fine. Well,
- 26:06they're twenty tapping into your twenty one year whatever. What was that challenge.
- 26:10Challenge really posting a photo of yourself when you were twenty one? Quite the
- 26:12challenge. It's a big ass. It was for me because it was on
- 26:15my old Facebook Oh yeah, that I had when I had started, and
- 26:19I don't have the username and password. I'm sure I could find it.
- 26:22That was my Mandy underscore five at hotmail dot com email. I know.
- 26:26I bet that in box was busy, the pictures that were on there.
- 26:32I'm glad that thing has been shut down because again, this is college years.
- 26:36I mean, can you imagine. So I didn't tap into that challenge,
- 26:38tappened, didn't don't miss that like it a minute in the morning on
- 26:45Big Nutty eight points seven. Well, I was here for a birthday party
- 26:48this weekend. Not here. We didn't have the My nephew did not have
- 26:51his birthday party at the radio station. Well, that would be a fun
- 26:52little treat for it. I would one day. One day, I'll show
- 26:56him the shower workings. But for now, we had the birthday at the
- 27:00YMCA downtown here in Fargo. It's been a long time since I've been in
- 27:03there. A lot of memories growing up there, yet to go to ever
- 27:07been there. No oh man, you got to bring the kiddos out there.
- 27:11Not to mention that Island Park pool they're working on drove by. That
- 27:14thing's gonna be a doozy. I'm excited. Oh my gosh. Well,
- 27:17so I come to the realization though, when it comes to buying gifts for
- 27:19kids, because you know, we just had Christmas and then now my three
- 27:22year old nephew, THEO three as of last week, a lot of gifts,
- 27:26right, And I was for the first couple of years like trying to
- 27:29be the uncle, like gave really great gifts and the kids loved them.
- 27:32And I'm just coetting to the point now where it's like, one, you
- 27:34know, these kids already have way more toys than they need. Huh.
- 27:37Thank you for realizing that, because a lot of people just don't and they
- 27:41just give to get and all that kind of stuff. And we're just not
- 27:44a toy family. Yeah, we less is more, you know what I
- 27:47mean. We give them one good toy, that's all you need. That
- 27:49are just like we want them to be more interactive like arts and crafts or
- 27:52things like that. That's awesome. So it's keeping them busy. Well,
- 27:56for sure, it's like Okay, THEO loves like trucks and tractors right now,
- 28:00of course, yes, but how many do you need? You know?
- 28:03So we're looking at we're at Target. Of course, we wait until
- 28:06Sunday morning to go get a gift. And I'm looking around. I'm just
- 28:08thinking, you know, this is all this looks like to me? Is
- 28:11this junk that's gonna go in a closet or a box somewhere. The kid's
- 28:14never gonna play with it. You you sound like such a big boy pike.
- 28:18Well, i'man guilty is charged with being a big boy proudy you son.
- 28:25So we ended up getting them. And here's the other thing we got
- 28:27them. What I thought it was a pretty cool like monster truck, like
- 28:30a remote control monster truck for Christmas. Yeah. And so we get to
- 28:33this party and I asked a Liam, the older brother, I go,
- 28:36hey, you know you've been playing with the monster truck. I didn't even
- 28:38remember it, like it looked right through. You're like, huh, what
- 28:41monster truck are you talking about? Oh yeah, yeah, I think that
- 28:44doesn't work anymore. I'm like, oh, nice, yeah, probably because
- 28:47they slammed it in the wall a thousand times, or like our monster truck
- 28:51and t rex that moves and has a remote. It's really weird. Pike.
- 28:53We have this closet. It's all the way up in it. Oh,
- 28:56now get there. The remote died and it's like, you know,
- 29:00I prefer my floorboards over the monster track. That's funny to say that,
- 29:04because when Liam told me, he's like, oh, it's stopped working.
- 29:07I'm like, oh did it? Did you look? What? Did you
- 29:10look at your sister and go you need batteries? Hunt It brings it happily
- 29:14brings them over. So we got to the point where now I'm just kind
- 29:17of realizing, like, you know, one, do you need to spend
- 29:18a lot of money on it? No? Two. But then the dilemma
- 29:22is you want them to have a gift that they're going to open and love,
- 29:26because if you get them something like an experience or you know, like
- 29:29I got them tickets to Monster Jam, but it's like they don't know who
- 29:32gave the tickets. Depending on how you present it to them. Remember that,
- 29:36Oh gosh, what Remember when I created a radio ad for my niece
- 29:41and nephew to explain to them that I got them an experience to go to
- 29:44a hotel. You did. It was so soun familiar. Yeah, that's
- 29:48hilarious. You get to stay overnight. It was so bad. Oh yeah,
- 29:52I'm so embarrassed. Maybe I got to start doing that really explain otherwise
- 29:56you have to take them so that they know that it was a part of
- 29:59it. But I also get you're just in their ear the whole time.
- 30:02You know why we're doing this, right, Antie Amanda, that's from Anti
- 30:06Amanta. I'm really proud of you though, because a lot of times you're
- 30:08right. There's so many gifts and all of these different things. It's like,
- 30:11oh, bully, it just hits too much. Oh my, So
- 30:15what'd you go with? We end up getting a very nice soccer ball,
- 30:21perfect, the cheapest thing in the world, and then we go over to
- 30:23the house and turns out they've already probably got like two or three soccer balls.
- 30:26But you can never go wrong with balls like that, no doubt about
- 30:29it, truly though, because they either deflate really quick. They're always playing
- 30:36with them, like they don't go to a style. Well, since you're
- 30:38a baby, yeah, like you truly, balls of all shapes and sizes,
- 30:44basketball, soccer ball, they have all of it, yes, right,
- 30:47And then if you have a puppy, you lose them really quick.
- 30:49They're deflating them all of that. But that is a that's a really good
- 30:52one. It's a great gift, you know. And then also we got
- 30:55them, you know those things. It's like a thing you put on your
- 30:57hand is a valcro thing you throw the tennis and catches it. What is
- 31:00the name of that? What are we all know what that is. It's
- 31:03probably got a name, but we got I didn't even know they still made
- 31:04those. Those are fun. I mean, that's a classic. That's like
- 31:07going to the lake growing up, like always had these little velcrow hand based
- 31:11the velcrow goes bad. Yes, moral of the story, Pike, it
- 31:15seems like you're ready to parent. Yeah. I don't know if that's what
- 31:17that means, but sure,
