- 1:26Speaker 7: dive into the horror. We open the show hearing from
- 1:30Speaker 7: Reddit user adept Mechanics seventy eighty three, featuring voice work
- 1:35Speaker 7: by Stephen Brink.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So just to detail before everything, this takes place during
- 1:44Speaker 2: my mid twenties, and at the time I didn't know
- 1:47Speaker 2: I had psyclothymia, So I didn't know how to regulate
- 1:50Speaker 2: my mind, and my life was quite an emotional mess.
- 1:53Speaker 2: It was the summer of twenty twenty and I was
- 1:55Speaker 2: back in town after a long while. At the time,
- 1:58Speaker 2: I was living in my grandmother's apartment for work related reasons,
- 2:01Speaker 2: which was in the worst part of town. My friend
- 2:04Speaker 2: was living ten minutes from my grandmother's place, so I
- 2:06Speaker 2: used to see him often. We used to play video games,
- 2:09Speaker 2: have long talks about life and the future, smoke pot,
- 2:13Speaker 2: usual best friend stuff. That night, though, as I thought
- 2:16Speaker 2: about going home around two in the morning, my friend
- 2:18Speaker 2: told me at the end of a whiskey bottle and
- 2:20Speaker 2: we could drink a glass to enjoy my return into town.
- 2:23Speaker 2: We rolled up two cigarettes, poured two glasses, and went
- 2:26Speaker 2: walking in the night around the lot in the park
- 2:29Speaker 2: and just continued our discussion. As we were talking into
- 2:32Speaker 2: a street lamp, we saw a car with a bunch
- 2:34Speaker 2: of guys. They just passed the street, but we didn't
- 2:37Speaker 2: think much about it. It was just a car passing by.
- 2:41Speaker 2: After the glass and a cigarette, we decided to go
- 2:43Speaker 2: back into the apartment. On the way, we saw two
- 2:45Speaker 2: or three guys in the street passing us. One of them,
- 2:48Speaker 2: exclaimed that's them, but seemed to look away behind us. Again,
- 2:53Speaker 2: we didn't think too much and continued to walk. When
- 2:56Speaker 2: we arrived, my friend said I could stay on the
- 2:58Speaker 2: couch for the night because it was pretty late, but
- 3:00Speaker 2: I knew I would be home in ten minutes by bike.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Plus I didn't want to bother his roommates, so I
- 3:05Speaker 2: said no. I added that I used to do this,
- 3:08Speaker 2: so there was no problem and he shouldn't worry. Boy,
- 3:10Speaker 2: was I wrong. I packed my stuff, said goodbye to
- 3:13Speaker 2: my friend, put on my head, said rode towards my
- 3:16Speaker 2: grandma's place. After one minute, I saw a sketchy guy
- 3:19Speaker 2: on the road. I just put some distance and that
- 3:22Speaker 2: was it. I turned to take the usual shortcut, a
- 3:25Speaker 2: narrow path with a big rock at the entrance to
- 3:27Speaker 2: avoid cars, to borrow the street. But this time there
- 3:30Speaker 2: was a car stopped there, all doors open and engine on.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Now it didn't surprise me too much because there was
- 3:37Speaker 2: a lot of these in the neighborhood. Silly as I was,
- 3:40Speaker 2: I just assumed it was in the way these groups
- 3:42Speaker 2: hung out together, smoking pod music blasting out of these
- 3:45Speaker 2: open cars. It was something I was used to seeing
- 3:47Speaker 2: every night. In the environment I was living in at
- 3:50Speaker 2: the time. The thing is the path being too narrow.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I couldn't just pass by speeding on my bike, so
- 3:56Speaker 2: I got off the bike and started walking by, only
- 3:58Speaker 2: to jump back a few meals further and right again.
- 4:02Speaker 2: When I was a few meters further from the car,
- 4:04Speaker 2: a man appeared from the complete darkness with a disturbing
- 4:07Speaker 2: grin on his face. I realized there was at least
- 4:10Speaker 2: three other guys behind me, just standing there watching. The
- 4:15Speaker 2: guy came just in front of me, squeezing my front
- 4:17Speaker 2: wheel between his legs, silent, staring at me with his
- 4:22Speaker 2: disturbing smile. My brain was unalert, but I was feeling
- 4:26Speaker 2: slow and hazy because of the substances I had in
- 4:28Speaker 2: my system. I rolled the bike back and started to
- 4:31Speaker 2: turn back, saying something like okay, I got it. In
- 4:35Speaker 2: the middle of my turn, the man repeated himself, squeezing
- 4:38Speaker 2: the wheel again, and suddenly he grabbed the back of
- 4:41Speaker 2: my neck hard with his hand, forcing me to lean down.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Now I knew I was in real shitty situation here.
- 4:48Speaker 2: He was making fun of me, saying this to his friends.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Oh what am I gonna do? What am I gonna
- 4:53Speaker 2: do now and laughing, just so you know how this
- 4:57Speaker 2: is hilariously stupid. People usually say I look like a
- 5:01Speaker 2: nice and chill guy, and I got round glasses. That
- 5:04Speaker 2: guy was a rather muscular, shirtless and full of bad
- 5:08Speaker 2: hash and cocaine. At some point I managed to free
- 5:11Speaker 2: myself from his grip and took a few steps back
- 5:14Speaker 2: and turned. I was now facing back to him, and
- 5:17Speaker 2: that's when he threw a punch at the side of
- 5:18Speaker 2: my head. White flash. I fell on the ground, headfirst
- 5:23Speaker 2: on my back. I was hyperventilated and in a state
- 5:26Speaker 2: of shock. He started to search in my pockets and bag,
- 5:30Speaker 2: took my phone, headset, papers, everything I had on me.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I heard the voice of a girl saying enough, leave
- 5:37Speaker 2: him alone, but he didn't pay attention as he was
- 5:40Speaker 2: going through my papers. She obviously knew him and was
- 5:42Speaker 2: part of the group lying down on the road. I
- 5:45Speaker 2: was paralyzed in fear. I remember I was afraid to
- 5:49Speaker 2: draw attension on me if I tried to stand up.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Also that I was afraid he would just beat me
- 5:53Speaker 2: up and break my arms and legs or roll me
- 5:56Speaker 2: over if they decided to go. As the scene took
- 5:58Speaker 2: place just near the back of the car, but apparently
- 6:00Speaker 2: they were more interested in my belongings. I decided to
- 6:04Speaker 2: stand up. The girl standing near the guy looked at
- 6:06Speaker 2: me and said, you need to go now. So I
- 6:09Speaker 2: took my bike and started to walk away. The other
- 6:12Speaker 2: guys were around watching a complete silence. Suddenly I heard
- 6:16Speaker 2: the man screaming, I'm gonna kill you, bitch. Terrified, I
- 6:21Speaker 2: threw the bike and started to sprint toward my friend's flat.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I heard him run behind me on almost the whole
- 6:26Speaker 2: street before he gave up. I never ran that fast,
- 6:29Speaker 2: even in sports class. I knocked at my friend's door.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I couldn't breathe. He opened, sat me down, called the police,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and gave me a huge glass of water. I woke
- 6:39Speaker 2: up his room mate. He appeared more annoyed by all
- 6:41Speaker 2: the noise and the fact that I could have led
- 6:43Speaker 2: these men to the apartment more than anything else. I
- 6:45Speaker 2: finally slept on the couch. This is not even the
- 6:48Speaker 2: end of the nightmare. The next day, around noon, I
- 6:52Speaker 2: called my friend, asking him to help me to try
- 6:54Speaker 2: to search for anything they could have left behind. We
- 6:57Speaker 2: met at the scene. I found back my now empty wall,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and he found a little satchet full of cocaine. I
- 7:03Speaker 2: also found a dead crow. On my way back, I
- 7:06Speaker 2: noticed a car similar to the one of the last
- 7:08Speaker 2: night in a street nearby. It wasn't moving, the engine
- 7:12Speaker 2: was on. Didn't want to care. It was bright daylight
- 7:15Speaker 2: and I was going home to sleep. When I arrived
- 7:17Speaker 2: in the parking lot at my grandma's place, I heard
- 7:20Speaker 2: a car honking. I turned back that same car I
- 7:23Speaker 2: saw earlier. It stopped in the middle of the empty road.
- 7:27Speaker 2: The men were throwing me a killer look, screeching tires,
- 7:31Speaker 2: and they were gone in a second. Now I was
- 7:34Speaker 2: paranoid on top of it all. Walked to the doors,
- 7:37Speaker 2: looked all around to see if anyone was watching me.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I removed my name from the letterboxes and went inside.
- 7:43Speaker 2: That night, I laid in bed with a butcher knife
- 7:45Speaker 2: under my pillow. They had all the information about me.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I was terrified they would come back at night hurt
- 7:51Speaker 2: my grandmother. The next day, I headed back to my
- 7:54Speaker 2: parents in the countryside. Again, this is not even the end.
- 7:58Speaker 2: My mother found me a psychoanaly near their home in
- 8:01Speaker 2: a small village. I went there and he started to
- 8:03Speaker 2: ask me about my bad childhood. I remembered. I thought
- 8:07Speaker 2: something was off when he started to say things like God,
- 8:10Speaker 2: your childhood was not easy at all and personal remarks
- 8:13Speaker 2: on my life. I thought it wasn't part of their job.
- 8:17Speaker 2: This was the first red flag, But the worst happened
- 8:19Speaker 2: after I told him what happened to me the other night.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He told me that these people spread all the information
- 8:25Speaker 2: about me all around the town, that I was now
- 8:27Speaker 2: their milking cow and their easy target, and if I
- 8:31Speaker 2: showed up in town again, I should be very careful
- 8:33Speaker 2: because they would know me. He added, They probably assumed
- 8:37Speaker 2: that we were a gay couple and that's the reason
- 8:39Speaker 2: he wanted to beat me up. Just before I leave,
- 8:42Speaker 2: he told me that he would like to talk about
- 8:44Speaker 2: the interesting way I dress and what I wanted to
- 8:47Speaker 2: communicate with my different style. I was even more shocked
- 8:51Speaker 2: and completely paranoid after that. For no reason, the town's
- 8:55Speaker 2: bicycle agency refused to take the police report about the
- 8:58Speaker 2: bike theft, so I had to pay the full penalty,
- 9:01Speaker 2: also had to repay all my IDs and cards, the
- 9:04Speaker 2: psychoanalyst bills. I ended up paying almost a thousand euros
- 9:08Speaker 2: for everything. I lived reclused for two years in my
- 9:12Speaker 2: parents' house in the countryside, feeling highly depressed. I felt
- 9:16Speaker 2: no one would understand my distress and no one would
- 9:19Speaker 2: try to help me. At that moment, I felt alone.
- 9:22Speaker 2: What still disturbs me to this day is the fact
- 9:24Speaker 2: that even after he mugged me and had all my possessions,
- 9:27Speaker 2: he still wanted to beat me up only for sadistic pleasure.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm so glad I have good legs now. I often
- 9:34Speaker 2: have the PTSDs when I try to sleep, and also
- 9:37Speaker 2: a lot of anger and feeling of injustice inside. So
- 9:40Speaker 2: to that psycho bastard full of cocaine, the silent group
- 9:44Speaker 2: around him, and that twisted psychoanalysis that made me flip
- 9:47Speaker 2: into paranoia. Fuck you and let's not meet again.

- 10:23Speaker 4: Up.
- 10:23Speaker 7: Next, we hear from Reddit user tall Pale and Met,
- 10:26Speaker 7: featuring voice work by Matt Bradford.
- 10:31Speaker 3: My wife and I recently purchased our first home after
- 10:34Speaker 3: the birth of our daughter. Everything was as you would
- 10:36Speaker 3: expect in the first few months, painting, decorating, renovating, basking
- 10:40Speaker 3: in our newfound slice of the American dream. But unusual
- 10:44Speaker 3: thing started happening several months ago. One day, I was
- 10:47Speaker 3: getting home after work and I passed a strange truck
- 10:50Speaker 3: two or three houses down the road from ours.
- 10:52Speaker 4: And I say strange for a few reasons.
- 10:55Speaker 3: We know literally everyone in our small neighborhood, and I've
- 10:57Speaker 3: never seen this truck or person before. There's no reason
- 11:00Speaker 3: for through traffic to come down our street. And the
- 11:02Speaker 3: truck was driving very slowly, like put it in drive,
- 11:06Speaker 3: but don't press on the gas slowly. As I pulled
- 11:09Speaker 3: into the driveway, the truck flipped to U turn and
- 11:11Speaker 3: came back towards my house. Getting out of my car,
- 11:15Speaker 3: the truck crawled by and the driver just stared daggers
- 11:18Speaker 3: at me as he passed. I don't like to judge
- 11:20Speaker 3: anyone based on appearances, and I like to think that
- 11:22Speaker 3: I don't scariesily, but something about this guy's eyes gave
- 11:26Speaker 3: me a bad feeling.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Obviously, this was weird.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I mentioned what happened to my wife, telling her we
- 11:32Speaker 3: should be more mindful about security, and when I told
- 11:35Speaker 3: her the type of truck, my wife said that same
- 11:37Speaker 3: truck drove by me, and the guy stared at me
- 11:39Speaker 3: when I got home this afternoon, and I thought he
- 11:41Speaker 3: was just being creepy and checking me out. I tried
- 11:44Speaker 3: to tease her a bit to lighten the mood, calling
- 11:47Speaker 3: her cocky for assuming any guy driving by was checking
- 11:50Speaker 3: her out. I didn't want to freak her out, but
- 11:52Speaker 3: I was definitely freaked out. And he saw the truck
- 11:55Speaker 3: a few more times over the next couple of weeks,
- 11:57Speaker 3: either driving by slowly or parked on the lock and
- 12:00Speaker 3: facing our yard. One day, the truck just stopped driving by.
- 12:04Speaker 3: We haven't seen it since.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I sort of.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Dismissed the whole thing as me being paranoid. Then other
- 12:11Speaker 3: things started happening. In the past month or so. My
- 12:14Speaker 3: wife and I have been hearing tapping on the windows
- 12:16Speaker 3: at the front of our house at night. It's happened
- 12:18Speaker 3: two or three times to each of us separately, always
- 12:21Speaker 3: around ten or eleven PM, and always a soft but
- 12:24Speaker 3: distinct tap tap to tap. I mean it sounds like knocking,
- 12:29Speaker 3: but with a single knuckle on the metal part of
- 12:31Speaker 3: a screen door, if that makes sense. The first time
- 12:34Speaker 3: that my wife and I heard the tapping together was
- 12:36Speaker 3: last weekend. When we were in the front room playing
- 12:39Speaker 3: with our daughter at around nine point thirty, just about
- 12:41Speaker 3: to settle or down for bed. Our front room has
- 12:44Speaker 3: a large, almost floor to ceiling window running the length
- 12:47Speaker 3: of the wall next to the front door, which faces
- 12:49Speaker 3: the street. We were all sitting on the floor with
- 12:51Speaker 3: our backs to the window, reading our daughter a book
- 12:54Speaker 3: when we heard.
- 12:55Speaker 4: It, tap tap tap tap.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Now our house is older, creeks and cracks are not uncommon.
- 13:02Speaker 4: This sound was so distinctly intentional.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I had my wife and daughter locked themselves in a
- 13:07Speaker 3: back room while I turned on all the lights and
- 13:10Speaker 3: did a sweep around the outside of the house. Of course,
- 13:13Speaker 3: I didn't see anything, and I was ready to dismiss
- 13:15Speaker 3: the whole thing as more paranoia over something that probably
- 13:18Speaker 3: had an innocent explanation.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Until last night, around nine.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Forty five, we heard our daughter making noises in the
- 13:25Speaker 3: baby monitor. I waited a few minutes to see if
- 13:28Speaker 3: she would settle down. When it became clear she wouldn't,
- 13:32Speaker 3: I got up to put her back to sleep. The
- 13:35Speaker 3: layout of the room is important to visualize this next party.
- 13:38Speaker 4: See.
- 13:38Speaker 3: The room is on the side of our house, but
- 13:40Speaker 3: the exterior wall juts out a bit in an L shape,
- 13:42Speaker 3: and the corner of this L is made up of windows,
- 13:45Speaker 3: so if you're standing in the door to the room,
- 13:47Speaker 3: you're directly across from these windows in one corner, and
- 13:50Speaker 3: there's a rocking chair in the other corner, pointed toward
- 13:53Speaker 3: the front of the house, and one window faces the
- 13:55Speaker 3: street and the other faces our neighbor's house. A garden
- 13:58Speaker 3: bed planted with small shrubs wraps around the outside of
- 14:01Speaker 3: the house directly underneath. I was sitting in the chair
- 14:04Speaker 3: getting my daughter settled down. I had a lamp on
- 14:07Speaker 3: so the room was softly lit. When she fell asleep,
- 14:10Speaker 3: I stood up to put her in her crib when
- 14:12Speaker 3: something caught my eye. There was a figure standing about
- 14:16Speaker 3: a foot away from the window and the bare space
- 14:19Speaker 3: between the shrubs.
- 14:20Speaker 4: And the house. They were staring at us.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I didn't look long enough to see anything more than
- 14:26Speaker 3: what appeared to be a man in a light gray
- 14:28Speaker 3: hoodie standing a few feet away on the other side
- 14:30Speaker 3: of the glass, sprinting from the room. I brought my
- 14:33Speaker 3: daughter back to my wife and I his bedroom, leaving
- 14:35Speaker 3: her there while telling my understandably confused wife to lock
- 14:38Speaker 3: the door. After turning on all the lights inside the
- 14:41Speaker 3: house and turning on all the lights outside. I began
- 14:44Speaker 3: moving from room to room but peering out of the
- 14:47Speaker 3: windows into the darkness. I couldn't see anything out of
- 14:50Speaker 3: the ordinary. Whoever it was must have taken off orter
- 14:54Speaker 3: seeing me notice them and make a quick excit. Obviously,
- 14:57Speaker 3: I had some trouble sleeping after this, and I spent
- 15:00Speaker 3: hours checking security cameras and going from room to room
- 15:03Speaker 3: looking out windows into the night, hoping but also not
- 15:07Speaker 3: hoping that I would see anything that could explain what happened.
- 15:10Speaker 3: This morning, I went outside to the spot where the
- 15:13Speaker 3: figure would have been standing. I thought, hoped maybe there
- 15:17Speaker 3: was a plant or something that I mistook for a person.
- 15:20Speaker 3: When I got to the spot, I realized the figure
- 15:23Speaker 3: had to be standing exactly in a bare patch of
- 15:25Speaker 3: ground about two feet in diameter, directly in front of
- 15:28Speaker 3: that window.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Part of me is still hoping that I'm being paranoid.
- 15:32Speaker 3: The mine can play tricks on you in the dark,
- 15:34Speaker 3: seeing things that aren't there, especially when you're a sleep
- 15:36Speaker 3: deprived new parent. But with everything that's been happening, I
- 15:40Speaker 3: can't shake the feeling there was actually someone out there
- 15:43Speaker 3: last night watching us.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Please let me be wrong.
- 15:55Speaker 8: My Chad didn't ever want to Disturbed team. I just
- 15:57Speaker 8: wanted to leave a voicemail saying that I absolutely love
- 16:00Speaker 8: the show. I started listening about it over a year ago.
- 16:04Speaker 8: I don't remember how many episodes you had at that time,
- 16:07Speaker 8: but I remember specifically trying not to binge through all
- 16:11Speaker 8: of that because I wanted to have you back up
- 16:13Speaker 8: episodes listen to. But I couldn't help myself. It was
- 16:16Speaker 8: so good. I love true stories, especially you know true
- 16:20Speaker 8: by creepy scary stories about creatures and stuff like that. Yeah,
- 16:24Speaker 8: now every Thursday I look forward to a new episode
- 16:27Speaker 8: and I love listening to it on my drive home homework.
- 16:29Speaker 8: But anyway, keep up the good work, and you guys
- 16:31Speaker 8: are doing a great stuff. Thanks.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Do you have your own terrifying encounter?

- 16:53Speaker 7: Up next, we check in with redit user Funny Likes
- 16:56Speaker 7: twenty forty three, featuring voice work by Sarah thomas Us.
- 17:05Speaker 1: On June third, twenty sixteen, I had a social media event.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I was an Instagram influencer and the event was a
- 17:11Speaker 1: golf tournament, I posted on social to ask followers to come.
- 17:15Speaker 1: When he showed up, it didn't surprise me. Sure the
- 17:19Speaker 1: tickets were two hundred and fifty dollars, but for some
- 17:22Speaker 1: reason that didn't click with me. It was a drinking
- 17:25Speaker 1: event as well, and he showed up at least tipsy
- 17:28Speaker 1: but having a good time. He was also an Instagram
- 17:32Speaker 1: model who I knew online. He asked me out on
- 17:35Speaker 1: a date for after the tournament. I was a single
- 17:37Speaker 1: mom and because of the event, my parents were watching
- 17:40Speaker 1: the kid until the next day. I said sure. We
- 17:44Speaker 1: went off on the date, went to a bar and
- 17:46Speaker 1: grabbed food. The man was handsome, but mostly charming as heck.
- 17:51Speaker 1: We had a beer, and then in his car he
- 17:53Speaker 1: offered me some weed. I rarely smoke, but decided what
- 17:57Speaker 1: the heck. We hot boxed. Then he went off to
- 18:00Speaker 1: a bar. He was friendly with everyone and made me
- 18:03Speaker 1: laugh quite a few times. Then off to the liquor
- 18:06Speaker 1: store for more alcohol, and finally.
- 18:08Speaker 9: To his house.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I was drunk and high, so it was easy to
- 18:13Speaker 1: sleep with me. He had a bunk bed, and I
- 18:16Speaker 1: remember him being on top and being very selfish and
- 18:19Speaker 1: aggressive and being scared. I didn't stop him out of fear.
- 18:24Speaker 1: He had driven and my car was still at the
- 18:26Speaker 1: golf tournament location and we were far too far from
- 18:30Speaker 1: me to afford an uber back to my car. The
- 18:32Speaker 1: next morning, I went to the restroom and afterward noticed
- 18:36Speaker 1: a long pipe coming from the toilet after I flushed.
- 18:39Speaker 1: He came out upset because it was to water the
- 18:42Speaker 1: weed him and his roommate were growing. I didn't know,
- 18:46Speaker 1: or was too drunk, and Hie still for it to click.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I apologized deeply, and I was scared. We came downstairs
- 18:55Speaker 1: and I looked at the walls and decor for the
- 18:57Speaker 1: first time. Knives and weapons were used as decorations all
- 19:02Speaker 1: over the house. I waited for him to have breakfast
- 19:05Speaker 1: and drive me back to my car, trying not to
- 19:08Speaker 1: show panic. In the car, I knew I needed an
- 19:12Speaker 1: excuse that wouldn't hurt his feelings. I told him I
- 19:15Speaker 1: had a blast, and I'm so bummed because I really
- 19:19Speaker 1: like him, but my child's father passed away when he
- 19:22Speaker 1: was one true, and I can't have CPS take him
- 19:26Speaker 1: away because I'm around someone growing weed. I told him
- 19:29Speaker 1: I didn't care about the weed and didn't want him
- 19:31Speaker 1: to change, so it really was a bummer. I let
- 19:36Speaker 1: him make out with me one last time as he
- 19:38Speaker 1: dropped me off at the golf place. I was shaking
- 19:41Speaker 1: as he drove off because of the vibes I caught
- 19:44Speaker 1: from him. The very next day after he dropped me off,
- 19:49Speaker 1: he met a girl that was ten years our junior
- 19:52Speaker 1: and an eighteen year old mini me. He dated her
- 19:55Speaker 1: for three weeks. She dumped him, and he stalked her
- 19:59Speaker 1: like crazy, so much so he was arrested a few times.
- 20:04Speaker 1: In September of the same year, he gets out of
- 20:06Speaker 1: jail one last time and heads to a bar. Meets
- 20:09Speaker 1: a girl there and takes her home. He ends up
- 20:13Speaker 1: murdering her, chopping up her body, cutting her heart out,
- 20:17Speaker 1: and setting it on fire. He's currently serving life for
- 20:21Speaker 1: his crime, and I get flashbacks all the time.
- 20:42Speaker 5: You're listening to Disturbed. Now back to the horror.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Next up, we check in with Reddit user bumble Queen
- 20:52Speaker 7: four twenty featuring voice work by Tanya eb.
- 21:00Speaker 5: This is my first Reddit post and it's gonna be heavy.
- 21:04Speaker 5: It's going to contain mentions of physical and mental abuse.
- 21:07Speaker 5: So this is a tw for everyone. I eighteen female
- 21:12Speaker 5: met my ex male twenty two in February of twenty twenty,
- 21:16Speaker 5: but didn't end up dating him till closer to my
- 21:18Speaker 5: seventeenth birthday because he still lived with his girlfriend. He
- 21:22Speaker 5: told me they were just friends and he didn't like
- 21:25Speaker 5: her like that, and I didn't find out later that
- 21:28Speaker 5: they were actually still doing things together. And meeting him
- 21:32Speaker 5: was the biggest mistake of my life. Everything started off great,
- 21:37Speaker 5: as every relationship goes. I sent picks because he was
- 21:40Speaker 5: my boyfriend, so you know, and of course I let
- 21:43Speaker 5: him save them for later. Use another big mistake. I
- 21:48Speaker 5: noticed that they were still texting, and when went through
- 21:51Speaker 5: his phone, he was saying he still loved her and
- 21:54Speaker 5: missed her. I was deeply hurt and called him out
- 21:56Speaker 5: on it. He apologized and said it would never happen again,
- 22:00Speaker 5: and I told him to text her that we were dating,
- 22:03Speaker 5: and he did. She was pissed. She stopped paying for
- 22:09Speaker 5: the house and helping him with car payments, and at
- 22:12Speaker 5: this time, he had quit Taco Bell and refused to
- 22:15Speaker 5: do his new job Ubering because I need to practice
- 22:18Speaker 5: League of Legends because I want to be a pro
- 22:20Speaker 5: league streamer. So I worked my ass off and ended
- 22:23Speaker 5: up losing my job because the manager didn't let me
- 22:26Speaker 5: work without a doctor's note, so I was stuck working
- 22:29Speaker 5: his job while he played his games. Before I met him,
- 22:33Speaker 5: I had four and a half thousand dollars in my savings.
- 22:37Speaker 5: He ended up using my card to pay his phone bills,
- 22:39Speaker 5: car payments, the apartment, daily weed, fast food, new league accounts,
- 22:44Speaker 5: and fucking csgo knives. But the worst was yet to happen.
- 22:50Speaker 5: I found that he was using an old tablet to
- 22:53Speaker 5: excessively watch porn, set updating accounts, and have different Instagram accounts,
- 22:58Speaker 5: but on these accounts he was pretending to be women.
- 23:02Speaker 5: I called him out about this and told him I
- 23:04Speaker 5: wanted to leave. He freaks out, jumping around and screaming
- 23:08Speaker 5: and crying, saying he would change, and I trusted him.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Why as time went on, things got worse and I
- 23:17Speaker 5: was scared to leave. And by the end of this
- 23:19Speaker 5: you will see why. He had shoved me into a
- 23:22Speaker 5: wall and getting into my face, screaming, you stole my
- 23:25Speaker 5: car key because you didn't want me to work, because
- 23:27Speaker 5: you're jealous of other girls, which was stupid because he
- 23:31Speaker 5: had thrown his car keys at me during a different argument.
- 23:35Speaker 5: But one day I went through the iPad and found
- 23:37Speaker 5: that he was actively not just sending, but selling my
- 23:41Speaker 5: pictures from when I was sixteen and seventeen, and doing
- 23:45Speaker 5: the same with his other ex. I started to try
- 23:48Speaker 5: to get my stuff together and put gorilla glue in
- 23:50Speaker 5: the charging port to just get rid of the filth
- 23:53Speaker 5: I just saw. When he found out that it no
- 23:56Speaker 5: longer charged after he used my card to get us food,
- 23:59Speaker 5: he was livid. He started screaming and getting in my face.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I tried to go around him and grab my things,
- 24:08Speaker 5: but when my back was turned, he pulled me down
- 24:10Speaker 5: to the ground wrestled me till he was able to
- 24:13Speaker 5: put me in a choke hold. I was sobbing and
- 24:16Speaker 5: just accepted that this would be the end. But before
- 24:19Speaker 5: I backed out, he let me go and I started
- 24:22Speaker 5: gasping for air and gagging from excessive coughing as he
- 24:26Speaker 5: just stood and laughed at me. I tried to crawl
- 24:29Speaker 5: away from him when he grabbed my leg and started
- 24:32Speaker 5: dragging me out of the apartment. I kicked to try
- 24:35Speaker 5: to get him off, which just made him pull me
- 24:37Speaker 5: like a dog playing tug of war. He eventually dragged
- 24:41Speaker 5: me out, keeping my wallet, keys, and all of my
- 24:44Speaker 5: valuables so I sat crying, begging for my stuff so
- 24:48Speaker 5: I could just go home. He came outside and pulled
- 24:52Speaker 5: me down the apartment stairs by my leg and I
- 24:54Speaker 5: was left with extreme bruising and some cuts. I did
- 24:58Speaker 5: end up calling the police and they did absolutely nothing.
- 25:03Speaker 5: Fast forward, he had to move because he had nowhere
- 25:05Speaker 5: to stay or live after getting evicted from the apartment,
- 25:08Speaker 5: and I had gotten a new job. One day, it
- 25:11Speaker 5: was particularly cold and I went to get a shirt
- 25:14Speaker 5: out of my car and there he was. BM was
- 25:17Speaker 5: sitting in my car on his phone. I left the
- 25:20Speaker 5: door unlocked, usually because I worked in a good area.
- 25:23Speaker 5: I called him a cheater and told him to leave.
- 25:25Speaker 5: He got out of the car and was starting to
- 25:27Speaker 5: go around the back, so I jumped in and tried
- 25:29Speaker 5: to lock the door from the back seat. He ran
- 25:32Speaker 5: over and pulled the door open and started trying to
- 25:34Speaker 5: pull me out of the car. I started screaming and
- 25:37Speaker 5: kicking at him. Thankfully, a customer saw this happening and
- 25:40Speaker 5: called the police. They arrested him and told me to
- 25:44Speaker 5: go home for the night, which they ended up firing
- 25:47Speaker 5: me for. Unfortunately, he got bailed out and while he
- 25:52Speaker 5: was in jail, he had given out my phone number
- 25:54Speaker 5: to other people there. He walked four and a half
- 25:58Speaker 5: hours to my house after he was relieved and was
- 26:00Speaker 5: looking around my backyard when my neighbor saw him and
- 26:03Speaker 5: called my dad. My dad got in his truck with
- 26:06Speaker 5: his gun and waited for him to come out of
- 26:08Speaker 5: the gas station. He eventually did, but ran off. He
- 26:12Speaker 5: wasn't shot. He had harassed me saying that he was
- 26:16Speaker 5: going to show up to my graduation and ruin everything,
- 26:19Speaker 5: and has gotten to the point making multiple fake accounts
- 26:21Speaker 5: on Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok pretending to be me and
- 26:26Speaker 5: his other exes, and as of today, he still pretends
- 26:30Speaker 5: to be high school girls, selling our pictures and making
- 26:34Speaker 5: fake accounts.

- 27:10Speaker 7: email submission featuring voicework by Denuda Marie.
- 27:19Speaker 10: I'm a middle school teacher. I have never had any
- 27:22Speaker 10: experiences in my three year career as an educator that
- 27:25Speaker 10: has shook me to the core as much as this one.
- 27:29Speaker 10: I think what made this experience more horrifying was that
- 27:32Speaker 10: this lockdown happened a week after the Uvedale school shooting.
- 27:36Speaker 10: The majority of the staff at my school felt something
- 27:39Speaker 10: after hearing what happened in Uvedale, whether that be anger, grief,
- 27:43Speaker 10: or fear that could have been us. This happened on
- 27:47Speaker 10: the last day of the twenty twenty to twenty twenty
- 27:50Speaker 10: one school year. The school was scheduled to have a
- 27:53Speaker 10: field day. Of course, all the students were really excited
- 27:56Speaker 10: to spend the whole day outside competing with their friends.
- 28:00Speaker 10: School started and all students were walking to their classrooms
- 28:03Speaker 10: at eight thirty and were seated by eight thirty five am.
- 28:06Speaker 10: It was a morning like every other. My homeroom students
- 28:09Speaker 10: were eating their breakfast listening to me giving the rundown
- 28:12Speaker 10: of the day. As I was telling the students where
- 28:15Speaker 10: they need to be for field day, the intercom came on,
- 28:18Speaker 10: blaring the alarm which screamed lockdown.
- 28:21Speaker 5: All my students and.
- 28:22Speaker 10: I looked at the intercom confused a lockdown drill on
- 28:26Speaker 10: the last day of school. To give a bit of
- 28:28Speaker 10: context on why I thought it was a drill, we
- 28:31Speaker 10: teachers were told that we had to have a lockdown
- 28:34Speaker 10: drill for the month. Since we didn't have one yet,
- 28:37Speaker 10: I let out shit under my breath. I left the
- 28:40Speaker 10: keys to my classroom in my backpack all the way
- 28:42Speaker 10: on the other side of the room. I rushed to
- 28:44Speaker 10: get my keys from my backpack, killed the lights, and
- 28:46Speaker 10: locked the door. I let my students stay in their seats.
- 28:50Speaker 10: Luckily they were silent and keeping each other silent. As
- 28:53Speaker 10: I was walking back to my desk from the door,
- 28:55Speaker 10: the door was all the way to the left, while
- 28:57Speaker 10: my desk was all the way to the right of
- 28:59Speaker 10: the room. I heard the door handle jiggle then open.
- 29:02Speaker 10: Two women whom I recognized worked in the cafeteria came
- 29:05Speaker 10: rushing into the room without locking the door behind them.
- 29:08Speaker 10: Annoyed because they didn't lock the door, and confused that
- 29:11Speaker 10: they came into the room, I went back to the
- 29:12Speaker 10: door and locked it. I checked my phone to see
- 29:15Speaker 10: my coworkers have already blown up our group chat. We
- 29:18Speaker 10: were all asking the same question, is this a drill?
- 29:21Speaker 10: Have any of you heard from any admin yet?
- 29:24Speaker 5: What's going on?
- 29:25Speaker 10: When all of a sudden, the veteran teacher in our
- 29:28Speaker 10: group texted this is not a drill. Barricade your doors now.
- 29:33Speaker 10: My heart instantly dropped, my blood ran cold. I was
- 29:38Speaker 10: in complete disbelief on what I read that I had
- 29:40Speaker 10: to reread the message again. I looked up from my
- 29:42Speaker 10: phone to look at my classroom. Tears welled up in
- 29:45Speaker 10: my eyes. I took a deep breath. This is it,
- 29:49Speaker 10: the moment every teacher fears. I shook my head and
- 29:53Speaker 10: walked quietly to my desk to grab the scissors. I
- 29:55Speaker 10: didn't want my students to panic, so I didn't barricade
- 29:58Speaker 10: my doors. I stood by the door, scissors in hand, ready,
- 30:02Speaker 10: just in case. Unfortunately, my door was the one nearest
- 30:06Speaker 10: to the entrance, so all these scenarios began running through
- 30:09Speaker 10: my head. If anyone came through the door, I would fight.
- 30:13Speaker 10: My phone was blowing up again with messages, but not
- 30:16Speaker 10: from teachers. My best friend was messaging me. Her sister,
- 30:20Speaker 10: who is also a student where I work, was messaging
- 30:22Speaker 10: her saying she loves my best friend. The sister also
- 30:26Speaker 10: texted her saying that she heard there was someone in
- 30:28Speaker 10: the school parking lot with a weapon, presumably a gun.
- 30:31Speaker 10: She wasn't sure if that person came in. My best
- 30:35Speaker 10: friend worried about what her sister told her and messaged
- 30:37Speaker 10: me since maybe I knew a bit more about the situation.
- 30:40Speaker 10: I replied back, telling her that I wasn't sure what
- 30:43Speaker 10: was happening, but the lockdown was real. That's when she
- 30:46Speaker 10: started to fill my inbox with I love you, Please
- 30:48Speaker 10: come back home safe. No, you and my sister need
- 30:51Speaker 10: to come back home safe and sound. I almost wept
- 30:54Speaker 10: when I saw those messages, but I knew that if
- 30:56Speaker 10: I wasn't calm, my students were going to freak out.
- 31:00Speaker 10: I wasn't sure how long that lockdown was. I later
- 31:03Speaker 10: found out it was fifty minutes, but it felt like
- 31:05Speaker 10: an eternity. We got a message that we were clear,
- 31:08Speaker 10: but had to keep the doors locked until the police
- 31:11Speaker 10: came to sweep the school. I turned on the lights
- 31:13Speaker 10: and took a seat. I had to clear my mind.
- 31:16Speaker 10: I looked down at my hands and noticed I was trembling.
- 31:19Speaker 10: I guess the adrenaline was wearing off. A lot of
- 31:22Speaker 10: my students began speaking amongst themselves, hugging and crying. Of course,
- 31:26Speaker 10: due to the situation, the students were dismissed early, but
- 31:30Speaker 10: I cannot stress the look in all my colleague's eyes.
- 31:33Speaker 10: We all looked so shaken up. Many were already in tears.
- 31:37Speaker 10: All staff was gathered together in the cafeteria and were
- 31:40Speaker 10: dismissed early. We all hugged and cried before we left
- 31:43Speaker 10: for home. We thought we were next. This has been,
- 31:48Speaker 10: tops down one of the most horrifying experiences in my life.
- 31:52Speaker 10: I don't wish this type of fear on anyone.
