- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's Word with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now, here's Richard with today's.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Reflection Matthew six nineteen through twenty one. Don't collect for
- 1:43Speaker 2: yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and russ destroy, and
- 1:50Speaker 2: where thieves break in and steal, But collect for yourselves
- 1:55Speaker 2: treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, where
- 2:00Speaker 2: thieves don't break in and steal for where your treasure
- 2:05Speaker 2: is there, your heart will be Also, you know today
- 2:10Speaker 2: is Mother's Day, and a fitting message for Mother's Day
- 2:17Speaker 2: would certainly have to do with how we feel about
- 2:22Speaker 2: our mother's Do you know that a message about treasures
- 2:28Speaker 2: in heaven is very fitting for Mother's Day? I'm going
- 2:34Speaker 2: to read to you something that was written by Cindy Casper,
- 2:41Speaker 2: as she shares in our daily Bread. It's titled Treasure
- 2:48Speaker 2: in Heaven. She says. When I was growing up, my
- 2:53Speaker 2: two sisters and I like to sit side by side
- 2:58Speaker 2: on top of my mother's large cedar lined chest. My
- 3:04Speaker 2: mom kept our wool sweaters in it and handiwork that
- 3:08Speaker 2: was embroidered or crocheted by my grandmother. She valued the
- 3:13Speaker 2: contents of the chest and relied on the pungent odor
- 3:17Speaker 2: of the cedar wood to discourage moths from destroying what
- 3:23Speaker 2: was inside. Most earthly possessions can easily be destroyed by
- 3:28Speaker 2: insects or rust, or can even be stolen. Matthew six
- 3:33Speaker 2: encourages us to place a special focus not on things
- 3:38Speaker 2: that have a limited lifespan, but on those that have
- 3:42Speaker 2: eternal value. She says, when my mom died at fifty
- 3:47Speaker 2: seven years of age. She had not accumulated a lot
- 3:52Speaker 2: of earthly possessions, But I like to think about the
- 3:57Speaker 2: treasure she stored up in heaven. I recall how much
- 4:02Speaker 2: she loved God and served Him in quiet ways, caring
- 4:08Speaker 2: faithfully for her family, teaching children in Sunday school, befriending
- 4:14Speaker 2: a woman abandoned by her husband, comforting a young mother
- 4:19Speaker 2: who had lost her baby, and she prayed. Even after
- 4:25Speaker 2: she lost her sight and became confined to a wheelchair,
- 4:30Speaker 2: she continued to love and pray for others.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 4:38Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 4:40Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard K. You can hear
- 4:43Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 4:46Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 4:51Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great is Thy
- 4:54Speaker 1: Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 5:03Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard K.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Include Great is Thy Faithfulness by our Daily Bread and
- 5:15Speaker 1: printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again here is Richard to
- 5:19Speaker 1: wrap up today's message.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Our real treasure isn't measured in what we accumulate, but
- 5:27Speaker 2: in what or whom we invest our time and our passions.
- 5:33Speaker 2: What treasures are we storing up in heaven by serving
- 5:38Speaker 2: and following Jesus. Our real well is what we invest
- 5:45Speaker 2: for eternity well. Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers.
- 5:52Speaker 2: If your mother's alied, then honor her by letting her
- 5:58Speaker 2: know how much you appreciate her love and care for you.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And if she's not still here on this earthly plane,
- 6:11Speaker 2: then remember how she was selected to be your mother.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Remember the love of God demonstrated through her. And that
- 6:28Speaker 2: is two days reflection on the Word.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 6:36Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Work with
- 6:39Speaker 1: Richard K. Or Richard and the entire team. This is
